It appears less on tv I hope it`s out soon and the smell and soot go away quickly.
Processor board in an industrial PC caught fire and stunk the place up late last night. Was good to see that all the power panel interconnects to the fire alarms worked. Once the detectors went off, all the power to my Lab shut off like it was supposed to. Only problem is, all the detectors are under the raised computer flooring and it took the smoke forever to trickle down there. Fire department blokes had to come in with full life support gear. Hard to believe a little dinky thing like that can make so much smoke and gases......
New position for detector needed before all is restored I hope.

I was brought up to start Christmas shopping in January,if not before ( in the sales ) and keep a book with all the people and their presents every year so I could use it for reference ( and no repeats).I`ve just started book 2 ,my last one started in 1967 the first year I was married and I`ve followed mums routine ever since.It works too.

hi everyone. Took a while to get back as the wood stove was quite recalcitrant this morning - had to hover and nudge. So, a late response to the Christmas shopping discussion - about 5 years ago I signed off from gift giving. Not a grinch thing- as a matter of fact sort of the opposite. The intention was to reclaim the joy of the season. And it has worked. Dont feel stressed out - bake, spend time with people, do special things together with the money we aren't spending on gifts. Couldn't do it if there were small children, but there aren't. Am able to be generous is so many other ways since I'm not exhausted and broke!

i read a book a few years back that i LOVED called "ella minnow pea" it was a series of letters between a few family members who grew up on a small island named after the guy who came up with the sentence with all the letters of the alphabet in them (the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.) on the island is a statue in the guys honor with the sentence on it. one day the letters start falling off the monument + the people decide that it must mean he as decided they cant use those letters anymore. so in the letters between the family members you see those letters of the alphabet disappearing... but the townspeople decided that if someone could come up with a shorter sentence using all teh letters of the alphabet, then they could start using all the letters again...

Haz - yes they should know better. I spend alot of my time at work proofreading... it becomes a curse - I proofread EVERYTHING I see.... billboards, street signs, newspaper articles, EVERYTHING. It's unbelievable the stuff that gets into print.

Our other cat (a female) is completely different. Having spent some time living rough and having to hunt to feed herself before she saw me and thought, 'Ah! There's a nice human mug to become my servant' she never bothers to hunt, rarely even leaves the house except to sunbathe or check on me if I'm gardening. Mind you, she did make me laugh once when the hunting cat (a male) was expending loads of energy chasing a moth around the room. She waited until it landed on the wall by her and then lazily reached out and grabbed it, and ate it.
Love it - see how much smarter women are then men!

Our female cat (a black of Persian origin) is named Kira because I felt she was sent to cheer me up (like that herbal tranquiliser of the same name) after my old dog died and a number of other bad things had happened. I've just looked up the meaning of the name and it is of Persian origin and means 'light or sun'. I got it right then! Her eyes are amber, like a harvest moon.

The limited bit that I know is that is an all men's club (I believe) who are involved in the community providing scholarships, support etc...which is great. In my only experience inside the doors however, I was given a savings bond while being "knighted" with a plastic scepter in a really formal ceremony and then had to have my picture taken in their bowling alley...quite a bit for all one night! So...at the risk of offending anyone, it was all just very foreign and intriuging to me. Quite the time! I hear I'm still on the wall somewhere!

The more I do these puzzles the more words I find by myself, I find. Then I look for log clues, then go to the stats. Without the stats, I doubt I'd finish. I used to finish before they were a feature, but that was usually through people posting 2nd letter lists in the log. I've never done a whole grid all by myself yet... am 3 words short of doing that (and a2z finished that one for me). One day though...one day....
