12:03 am

Woof all. Just waiting to see what the verdict is, have several hours work ahead of me yet tonight so it'll have to be a teeeeeeny grid...

12:03 am

Yeah -- I have nothing over 5 yet

12:03 am

Hi Griff! (*Hug*)

12:03 am

12:04 am

12:04 am

12:04 am

So I told folks before the flip... They have moved up the c-section -- Kirsten will be going in to the hospital THIS friday instead of next week

12:05 am

Woo hoo dad!

12:05 am

GW I'll bet you're BOTH relieved.

12:06 am

Pretty much, Darleen -- looking forward to meeting SEbastian and Kirsten is looking forward to getting her energy back as well :)

12:06 am

Hello! I forgot I was here and when I looked again, the grid was today's and not yesterday's. [All muddled]

12:07 am

12:07 am

Welcome back from vacation zubie!

12:08 am

12:09 am

Was prowling around your blog yesterday, Griff :D

12:10 am

12:10 am

12:12 am

12:13 am

Keep you on your toes, Griff! ;) Now I'll prowl around there when and as I wish. ;D

12:15 am

You and the others with nothing but the bottom of the barrel to scrape, I guess. I have a boring life but it doesn't stop me from writing at length about it. :)

12:16 am

I thought it was interesting!

12:16 am

Well, you'll love it when it's caught up - my big feature will be a photograph of the newspapers that have been stacking up unread. Take a tranquilizer beforehand so you can handle that! :)

12:18 am

I'm bummed that the gently flowing sweet Afton isn't a valid word but at least now I'm humming that pretty song...

12:18 am

Hi Everyone -- got the old laptop fired up, so I'll be here for as long as it keeps working! Can't wait for that new computer to arrive. :}

12:19 am

12:24 am

12:24 am

Okay my dinger just dinged so I have to get back to work. Make short work of this one, kids. See you on the blog, Zubie. Mab, I had my car in the shop last Fri. We're walkin on the wild side. 'Bye all.

12:28 am

12:28 am

Morning sprite!! (*Hug*)

12:28 am

Morning dear Sprite!

12:28 am

hi sprite!!!!

12:29 am

We are celebrating here. My daughter (almost 8) has managed to stay dry all night for 3 nights in a row, without aids. :D

12:30 am

Yep, that's a very nice image ren.

12:30 am

sprite - that is wonderful!!!!!

12:31 am

hi gang! : )

12:31 am

Excellent Sprite's daughter!

12:31 am

congratualtions, sprite! I have news as well -- Sebastian will be arriving this Friday!

12:31 am

thanks mab....8) guess i should go to sleep 5 am isn't far away...

12:31 am

Babs!!!!

12:32 am

gosh, lots of good news in the log today!! :D:D:D

12:32 am

Hi Babbler! -- the baby shower is going to past date the birth now ;)

12:32 am

babbler...just so you know...i took your advise and finished yesterday's grid and even went out to supper!!!!

12:32 am

later all!!!!

12:32 am

Laila tov, ren.

12:33 am

good for you, ren! :D hey Mab! :) GW - awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!! :D

12:33 am

G'Nite Ren! (*HUG*)

12:33 am

laila tove mab!!!!

12:33 am

Ren, don't you want to know how I did in my 30 min challenge?

12:33 am

Yes, it really is! It was so hard for her and she still had to use diapers and all, never could stay dry for even one night. And then last weekend she came to me sunday night, and said she was out of diapers and had not given it any attention, and I kind of lost it. I was so fed up with her leaving all the work to us and just WAITING until all of a sudden things would work out without her trying. Remember, my washing machine had crashed too... And I put her to bed without diaper, and told her she had to REALLY give it a try. And she did, and it worked, and she is proud as hell now :D :D We too!

12:34 am

Wow Woulf! That's wonderful... too early to have the same birthday as my daughter, but still wonderfull :D

12:35 am

awwww, Sprite! great news! She was ready, wasn't she? And you let her reach it in her own time. Bless you. : )

12:36 am

That's great, Sprite. Mothers are awesome.

12:37 am

I have never wanted to push her, but she is kind of inborn lazy. Really. We always say she must have been some kind of queen of queens in another life, not used to do anything for herself. So it takes some coaching to get her to try and risk failing and all... but it is so wonderful when she does and feels how rewarding it is, and what a boost for one's self esteem, if she really tries and succeeds :D I am real proud of her.

12:38 am

Wow! -- GW, just been through the log -- how exciting! Still remember how awful, those last few weeks of pregnancy are -- bet Kirsten is pleased to be getting it over with a little sooner.

12:38 am

I am not feeling much love for the grid at all right now ---It may be a small, but it is very frustrating -- I have 42 words -- none of the 6's or 7's and only 6 of the 5's

12:39 am

41 words, 4 sixes no seven.

12:39 am

I'll go and give it a try, have been too busy chatting to do more than 20 words. Hang in there, Woulf, here's company ;)

12:40 am

Thanks sprite -- though no matter what, I am turning in in 20 mins -- I have to open the store in 7 hours :)

12:40 am

I got to 47 words in my 30 minute challenge (self-imposed). : ) no biggies though.

12:42 am

Sleep is important, Woulf, especially for fathers who are about to go without much sleep for quite a while ;)

12:43 am

I know sprite, hence the now 18 minute time limit ;)

12:44 am

Not just a Grey Woulf, but a Wise Woulf :) Love you, and lots of hugs!

12:44 am

I'm heading off to (try to) sleep now. see you all later and happy babbling! : ) GW, in case I don't see you, lots and lots of love and luck for Friday ((*GW and family*)) : )

12:45 am

((**Babbler**)) -- with luck I'll see you before then -- Sleep Well, Dream Deep

12:45 am

Sleep well, Babbler! Help, we have never been closer to 'anthology' than today, now have we... and I WANT it!

12:49 am

M7/36: tiny detail.

12:50 am

thanx sprite :)

12:50 am

I was on the trail of that one, but once again went left when I should have gone right!

12:51 am

Thought I couldn't let you hit the hay without at least one biggie ;) Can't find any of the others yet, though.

12:51 am

Ok. Surprise! I've just surprised myself by discovering that I'm still here.

12:52 am

Hey zubie! You're here :)

12:53 am

Hi sprite! :D Yes, I'm here. Returned here yesterday. To the grid, I mean. Just got back from vacation. How are you?

12:54 am

I am okay, just not doing very well with the grid. It's a tough one! How are you?

12:56 am

I'm ok, sprite. Thoroughly unbabbled though. Did they change the babble mode to some unheard-of language while I was away? ;D

12:57 am

M7/40: To free from slavery or bondage; emancipate.

12:58 am

LOL zubie! No, they did not, don't worry... it IS a tough grid. You'll be fine, just as we, from tomorrow on (I hope!)

12:58 am

Thank you, sprite

1:00 am

Will you be able to sleep peacefully now, Woulf? Then I have done my good deed for today ;) ;)

1:01 am

I will sleep better for having the 7's indeed, sprite -- though I am amazed that I still have none of the 6's and am down to 33 left to find -- but they will keep til later (*HUG*) :)

1:02 am

22 words. Oh hooray! I hereby retire from babbling and make myself the onlooker who babbles. ;D The second babble being different from the first. :P

1:02 am

And so I bid a fond farewell to all and go forth to seek my slumber... (*Hugs to all*)

1:05 am

Sweet dreams, Woulf! There are at least a few 6s that are common words, you'll find them when you have slept :) H4/12: one of those nasty little ones we have seen before. Always reminds me of wtf.

1:07 am

'Night, GW :) Sleep well.

1:07 am

Also L4/10. Another of those little b@st@rds.

1:15 am

hello.... only 82 words hmmm... usually a brain twister....

1:19 am

Hi Blaze! Yes, it is. Almost done now, but there are a few nasty ones among them.

1:20 am

oh yes I can tell already....

1:29 am

There are some hints in the log already. Some others: when you have found the H6 with nothing in it, don't be shy and try some stupid alt. spellings of the same. Also: give M6/21 another last letter to find M6/24 (or mistype, as I did)

1:30 am

And there's another M6/24 that could be called a shape shifter. Good luck hunting to y

1:30 am

sprite thank you... you are a doll......I am at 27 now...

1:30 am

oopss make that 36 I have been busier than I thought

1:31 am

... to you all, I wanted to say, before babble went and posted my message all by itself. Have a great day!

1:32 am

and to you Sprite enjoy

Hi all... how is everyone?!

1:34 am

all is well here with me.....

1:45 am

oh my I must depart.... see you tomorrow have a great puzzle. and a super day..

1:45 am

Good night all -- struggling without being able to use BJ's list (no printer, can't run more than one program at the same time) --- calling it a night with 29 to go. Hopefully, I'll be smarter in the morning. :)

2:52 am

hydra...no wonder it rang a BELL...worked from Heathrow with BA and had a place in Ealing....

2:54 am

Gosh, tbear, I used to live in Ealing, too. The first flat I ever bought was off South Ealing Rd. I was working for a pop music publishing co. Then bought cottage in West Ealing. Small world!

2:54 am

Absolutely...hydra

2:55 am

Taking my printout of Babble grid down to kitchen now. See y'all later.

2:55 am

Hasta later girl

3:37 am

I have the only Z word. I am trying to figure out the other word that uses a Z in it. Anyone got it that can give some clues? I'd be most appreciative. Thanks :)

3:38 am

There is an ice skating jump that starts with an L and has the letter z in it.

3:39 am

Ah! Thank you. That's all I needed. :)

3:41 am

That other word using the Z, was not offered in the a2z wordfinder when I was plugging in word ending using the Z. That is only the second time that has happened. Were the word in the Babble puzzle in not in the a2z wordfinder.

3:55 am

I wish 'foto' would be accepted.

3:57 am

LOL I tried it twice before accepting that it was'nt there.

4:02 am

How many words are there today? Does any body have a listing? Thanks!

5:50 am

Can anyone provide a clue for the lu6/24?

5:50 am

ooooooooohh !!!

5:52 am

Can either one of you give me a hand w/the ma7? I read the clues in the log;but, I can't seem to think of the word.

5:52 am

FMitch-think light and give it a feminine ending.

5:53 am

What's the theme today? I'd look it up but my computer is being persnickety and if I leave the grid I might not get it back for a while.

5:53 am

Hi Eva, As soon as I read yr great clue I saw the word, thanks.

Fmitch, lu+not yours but m***, change that last vowel

6:07 am

i have the skating z, but i'm sure there is another !!

6:09 am

there isn't, one word starts with a z and one other word uses the z today - for sure as I have completed the grid.

6:10 am

6:11 am

fmitch i have just found the z word !!

6:12 am

Stuck on 79. Can't find un5/18 or wi5/28.

6:12 am

WTG!

6:13 am

un5/18 - opposite of physical vigour

6:13 am

I just found this site and am trying to figure out some of the clues you all are talking about... what do you mean when you say lu6/24? Or wi5/28? I get that the word starts with lu or wi but what do the number mean? TIA

6:15 am

wi5 - 1st three letters of female spouse, followed by last 2 letters of 50

6:15 am

Hi Haz, taking a break from the decorating? sobersea - if you have a look under babble rules at top of page all will be explained.

6:16 am

You can only strip so much paper off before you need a breather! The dog is very puzzled....

6:17 am

LOL I bet!!!

6:17 am

Got stuck in update purgatory for a while there. Is it just my computer or has the site been really iffy this past week or so?Anyway, 57 words and my brain is fried, the cat has bitten me for not feeding him and the house is cold, so adios for the moment.

6:17 am

That's weird! I tried that half an hour ago and it wouldn't let me have it. I'll try again.

6:18 am

Does that cat not realise it shouldn't bite the hand that feeds it?

6:18 am

Yes, it let me have it this time. Just un5/18 to go now.

6:18 am

Eva I had probs getting onto the site this morning and it has been hic-uping on and off this week, must unusual! See you again soon.

6:34 am

Hello gramma. It`s the night Scotland celebrates the life of Robert Burns, their most famous poet.Living with a Scot it seems appropriate.

6:50 am

6:50 am

FMitch and macadam, I'm rather fond of the whiskey. Maybe I could help you get rid of yours :D

6:51 am

LOL gramma, that sounds like a plan!

6:53 am

They make veggie haggis now.Lots of beans in it I have been told.Hubby wouldn`t be a happy bunny if I gave his whisky away but he`d offer you a dram for sure.

6:53 am

Well I'm off. I have alot of planning and shopping to do. Never celebrated Burns Night; but, I'm not one to let any excuse for a party get by me. Wont every1 be surprised tonite

8:51 am

There's a tennis channel?

8:52 am

What exactly does one do on "Australia Day"? (Besides guzzle Fosters and waltz with Matilda). Is it a bank holiday?

8:52 am

I think it's a national holiday for Australia, like our 4th of July...

8:52 am

We have a golf channel here

8:52 am

Any icon with an Aussie theme. (mine will probably lean toward the childish :)

8:53 am

If you're actually in Australia, it's customary to head to the beach & throw some shrimp on the barbie (not so much here since it's Winter Up Over)

8:53 am

Yeah, I didn't know we had it either... it was actually a commercial on HGTV for the channel. Any clues for af5?

8:53 am

My Girl Scouts are doing activities to earn a patch at the meeting tomorrow, might try to do some Chinese New Year, time permitting... that's Sunday...

Jera, I don't think it's gonna happen unfortunately... I haven't even begun to pack and I gotta take the cat back in for a follow-up before we leave. Can I take a raincheck for after we get home?

9:03 am

Missy - we've had long discussions here about the alleged palatability of Vegamite. I too could not eat it unless someone held a gun to my head. YAK!

9:03 am

It's the first Nancy Drew book, The Secret of the Old Clock. Got me hooked on mysteries :)

9:05 am

Bugsy, Must be an updated version or a reprint. My mom had a complete set I read as a child...the covers were plain and all the same, no jackets.

9:05 am

Dare I ask, what is vegamite?

9:06 am

harp...its a very dark, very thick paste, highly concentrated veggies...

9:06 am

What's it used for?

9:07 am

un5/18?

9:07 am

Only way I know to use it is put it on your sandwich or add it like a flavoring for soups and things

9:07 am

Harpjane - it's a sandwich/toast spread. Very salty.

harp if you skip a lot of days at the gym, you will become this... my this is a sneaky little grid today!

9:08 am

Un-5: Out of shape. Military: Un--- for duty.

hursh - I think you might need to refresh...efor has "Where the Wild Things Are"

10:02 am

yeah, the story is that my sister and i both wanted two books from our childhood - poky little puppy and big dog, little dog, and each had taken one. this christmas we agreed to buy each other the other one so we'd both have both. :)

10:02 am

I should say she has the cloth version, I bought the little golden book later for my kids

10:03 am

well, i still want to know if efor's icon USED to be rainbow brite.

10:04 am

sorry i was afk... thanks EB! one of my favorites when I was a kid. I had rainbow brite, but I changed it to go with the theme. she'll be back soon! :)

10:06 am

10:08 am

Atalante - does the deviantart page have a lot of adobe photoshop photos on it?

10:10 am

Hurshy that is so cool :) EB one of my favorite parts of a Winnie the Poo book, "Winnie the Poo and the Honey Tree": ...from the top of the tree there came a loud buzzing noise... Winnie the Poo sat down at the foot of the tree, put his head between his paws and began to think... "Think, think, think" he thought, "You don't get a loud buzzing noise like that, just buzzing and buzzing without it's meaning something." Then he thought a little while longer and said, "The only reason for a buzzing noise that I know of is because you're a bee." And he thought another little while longer and said, "And the only reason for being a bee that I know of is for making honey" And then he got up and said, "And the only reason for making honey is so I can eat it!" so he began to climb the tree...

10:10 am

any clues on the wi/5 28 PLEASE

10:11 am

missy - yes indeed!!

10:11 am

Bye Temple :) EB I just read your Poo quotes! So darling

10:29 am

Bye T-Owl!!

10:30 am

I just bookmarked Robert Munsch's official website. I'll pass on his name to my daughter whom I'm sure will be buying books to read to her little one

10:31 am

Missy - highly recommend the Love You Forever - esp. for boys...

10:35 am

brb I'm multitasking houseword...putting dishes in dishwasher and folding clothes currently...

10:35 am

housework*

10:38 am

I'm muli-tasking as well. I literally have a paintbrush in my mouth and one in my hand. Just finished first coat of celing paint in the hall and now have to take very puzzled but patient dog for a walk. See you all later, i hope.

10:38 am

bye Haz...

10:39 am

Ever thought of taking up juggling Haz :) lol

10:40 am

Not with paint brushes! Messy!

10:41 am

LOL....yeah that could be a problem !!!!! ;o) See ya !

10:48 am

Hi everyone!

10:55 am

Hi Hugs....how are you??

11:05 am

back in between chores

11:05 am

Hi lotti... I'm good. How have you been?

11:06 am

Good thanks. It seems like ages since i last spoke to you!!

11:08 am

It probably has been. I usually finish the grid when it's released at night.

11:08 am

Missy...the trouble with housework is that it never goes away!!!!!!

11:08 am

why is "woot" not a word? Anj uses it all the time, doesn't that give it credibility

11:10 am

lotti true true true...I have taken to giving names to my dustbunnies under the bed...great excuse not to look under there

11:10 am

The only time i ever seemed to see you Hugs was at the flip, yes....It`s not often i`m around for that, cos its 6am when we get it here :)

11:11 am

smaller I first time I saw it was when I started networking on AOL in the chatrooms...that's years ago now. It might be offically included in a dictionary some day...

11:12 am

And it's midnight when it flips here... I'm a nightowl! ;o)

11:12 am

LOL Missy....I know what you mean!!! I get a build up of my hair on the bedroom floor, where i sit and dry it. I really must vac it up soon. Smaller i think thats gone through everyones mind!!!

11:13 am

lotti lol! If you live around deer, collect the hair and put it on your plants deers like to munch on. Works great :)

11:14 am

Hugs my pc is in the bedroom, so i don`t like to be on it too early or too late, as my hubby works strange hours!!

11:14 am

lottijw i was reading the post thats the same with husbands they never go away, lol lol lol lol

11:15 am

hiya this is a toughie onlgot 5 words cant see anymore for the life of me lol

11:16 am

LOL Shorty!!!!! :) No Missy, squirrels but no deer!!

11:18 am

Michaela they`re in combats and camouflage today!!!! ;o)

11:19 am

lotti not sure if it would deter deer...they'd probably just use it for nesting material :)

11:20 am

MissyMe - would that work for rabbits that munch on my spring bulb growths?

11:22 am

The workers are here today finally putting in the new heater...they've been here for the last three days preparing our house for it..we needed a completely new system including ducts. We've been without that type of heat all winter...sure did save a bunch on gas, though. They're also putting in an e-lek-tronicky touch pad that would make NASA proud. What this probably means is I wont' be able to figure the thing out and we STILL won't have any heat! lol

11:23 am

It`s amazing what we learn on Babble.......and i don`t mean the words!!!!! Time to feed the children, before they dive in the biscuit cupboard!!!! See you all soon :)

11:23 am

missy - we have no heater...of course - who needs heat when it's 90F year round....8)

11:23 am

Hugabug you can try it...also toss around caienne pepper...and yuk...sorry about this but it works...your watered down urine...just sprinkle it around your plants...

11:24 am

MissyMe where do you live? is it real cold?

11:25 am

ren! lol Its the opposite here...we don't need central air...just a small air conditioner in the window does fine..we have a very small house

11:26 am

shorty...I live in the California foothills, about 2000ft elevation..we don't get much snow and temperatures stay either at or just above freezing most of the time...not too bad

11:27 am

well thats good don't want you to freeze to death

11:28 am

Our temps go from one extreme in the summer to the other end in the winter. We need both heater and air conditioner to be comfortable in the summer

11:29 am

how thoughtful :D We've been heating our house without our wood stove, which we should be doing anyway to save on propane which is getting ridiculously expensive!

11:30 am

Hugabugs I've always wanted to go to Manatoba I have a Manatoba Moose sweatshirt a friend gave me

11:30 am

with* our wood stove, not without* lol

11:30 am

I know its crazy

11:31 am

shorty - i've been to a few of their games. I do miss not having the Jets here any more though

11:32 am

Hugabugs It was like that for us when we lived in the valley...that valley bowl baked in the summer but milder winters where we didn't have to heat the house every day...

11:33 am

ahhhhh this is to hard

11:34 am

Adsman This puzzle is definitely a challenge! Did you get the word count from Babblers Anonymous...makes it go a little easier

11:34 am

MissMe - we've had a mild winter in comparison to what it's been like in the past. -30's C was normal winter for 2 or 3 months

11:35 am

Hugabugs!!! I'm sure how'd I'd cope with that...wow!

11:37 am

Cant look at it MissyMe my works security teams block that page oh well will keep struggling on LOL

11:37 am

I'll be heading down to Orlando in a month from today! Looking forward to the HEAT!!

11:38 am

Adsman - want us to post it here for you?

11:39 am

If you think it would help thanks

11:47 am

Mantoy isn't a word?!!

11:47 am

having trouble with FO4/8

11:47 am

Toilet with an F

11:50 am

FO4/8 spelled like another word for the toilet that is also a man's name

11:50 am

plurple I don't know why it's not included in the grid...guess that one slipped by Dr. God

11:55 am

sorry guys how about HO6/21

11:55 am

Hi all, anyone have a clue for the ma 7/40? Thank you..

small today...

11:56 am

82 words 4.44 858 That's all she wrote for me!

11:57 am

Hugabugs congrats!

11:57 am

adman, like ho 5/12 above plus another same vowell

11:58 am

chic - MissyMe has a good clue for the ma7 at 10:28 am

11:58 am

I wrote Dr. God yesterday and asked for a smaller puzzle... I haven't finished one in so long...

11:58 am

HO6/21 opposite of woman + vowel + opposite of "fro", like ** and fro. ma5/24 is like ma5/21 only add a different vowel at the end

11:59 am

thanks chic these words get funnier by the day

ty then, it's nice to have small ones every now and then

11:59 am

plurple even the small ones, (points to this grid), can be nasty too :)

12:00 pm

Afternoon/Evening all .I think todays grid is harder than yesterdays!! Help please with mu6/24 and wi5/28 ty

12:00 pm

Well I don't know if it WAS because of me... Dr. God said it was up to the Babble Gods... but ;)

12:01 pm

Hi Caitlyn :) mu6/24 teenage mu**** ninja turtles wi5/28 rhymes with 50

12:03 pm

plurple lol You mean Dr. God isn't a god???!!! o-0

12:04 pm

12:05 pm

Missyme Thank you !!!!!!!!!!l I have been going bonkers looking for them LOL

12:06 pm

caitlyn lol You're welcome :)

12:06 pm

yeah - no kidding. They should quote me on that on the front page. HAHAHA

12:06 pm

caitlyn that wi word is an official "stupidhead" word

12:06 pm

meeting............so very painful.......barely survived!!

12:06 pm

thanx, hugabugs (and missyme) and you're welcome, adsman...

12:07 pm

eva...you okay? YW chic :)

12:07 pm

hey again everyone!

12:08 pm

Hello efor..welcome back :)

12:08 pm

I think you are right Missy .Having a year old all day has killed what brain cells i had.Fun but hectic!!!!!!!!!!!

12:09 pm

plurple I love word games but I'm too slow for competition. Babble is just right for me because I have so much time to finish one

12:10 pm

caitlyn lol! Aw, who needs brain cells?

12:11 pm

caitlyn your little one a boy or a girl?

12:12 pm

i had a meeting this morning that lasted FOREVER......... felt like i was banging my head against a wall for 2 hours!

12:13 pm

Meetings are a waste of valuable time. Hi everyone!

12:13 pm

arggh eva!!! Meetings are very boring, and just what exactly do they accomplish except to make everyone extremely grateful when they're over?

12:13 pm

Deutsch Hiya :)

12:14 pm

65 so far...

12:14 pm

the last thing said at this meeting was "ok, so we cant actually beging doing anything at this point..."

12:14 pm

And what's worse than meetings? Saturday seminars. I went to a pathetically useless one in mid january

12:14 pm

Missy ...That was the youngest grandchild! (a girl) I have 4 others 2girls age 10 then a girl 8 a boy of 7 and now this new one. We take them on hols every year in our touring caravan(must be mad)lol

12:14 pm

Deutsch You nailed it! When my husband was working at his last job he had to attend three meetings a day! A total waste of his valuable time..

12:16 pm

Don't GET me started. so how about a clue for the ma7, please?

12:16 pm

in my meetings i bring play doh and toys for those w/ short attention spans...like me!!!!

12:16 pm

caitlyn wow, how wonderful for you! lol about the touring van..you must be overwelling with patience! I'm expecting my first grandbaby on March 11, a boy :)

12:17 pm

Caitlyn. A woman after my own heart. I'm a caravan fanatic and adore taking my granddaughter and nieces away at every opportunity.

12:17 pm

At the seminar, I did sudoku puzzles. A colleague read the news paper. LOL

12:17 pm

grown boy + opposite of me/i + baseball catchers glove

12:17 pm

ren!!!! lol lol lol ROTF!!! OMG, does anyone actually start playing with the stuff?

12:18 pm

missy...yes...and we talk as we play..we record our meeting and we get some really good ideas...only no pen clicking is allowed!!!!

12:19 pm

thats a brilliant idea!

12:19 pm

thanks, evanadine! That one was driving me crazy.

12:20 pm

evanadine lol That is so typical of today's silly approach to business! Someone told somebody somewhere meetings were the way to motivate your employees and we're now stuck with them until they're out of style

12:20 pm

any hints for the 2 upper N words?

12:21 pm

Ren, that's very creative. I may have to borrow that idea. Are you not allowed to take notes, or write anything down?

12:21 pm

renfield lol! Maybe that's what America needs, a chicken in every pot and playdoh in every meeting :D

12:21 pm

toys and play doh allows frustrated people to vent on the object, and not let it build up inside of them...it is very productive...keeps thoughts focused

12:21 pm

eva no5/20 no + word that rhymes with the type of bovine we make hamburgers out of, or...like the polite inquiry, "*** do you do?"

12:22 pm

Missy that is great.. the love you feel for your own kids is huge but the love for grandchildren belive it or not is bigger .........Maisie good to know there are other caravan nuts around!!!!!!!!

12:22 pm

cheese-and-rice, thats a real word??!

12:22 pm

evanadine - the 2nd upper n word is the beginning of a latin phrase meaning you didn't make any plea. You hear about people who plead n*** contendre

12:23 pm

im 5/16 anyone? plz & ty!

12:23 pm

Caitlyn which club do you belong to if any. Do you go on rallies or to meets?

12:24 pm

gotta run, folks! I have 35 more to go but I have to get dog food! LOL

12:24 pm

nvm! just guessed it.

12:25 pm

efor im 5/16 im + add another vowel to the middle like the word above it

12:26 pm

Deutsch Bye cya later :)

12:26 pm

Maisie no we dont go on rallies although we are c.c members Hubby losing his nerv towing now ,but found a good field in West Wales which we love.

12:28 pm

12:28 pm

anyone who wants to use the idea is ok by me...hey my folks paid good money for my berekley education - 8)

12:28 pm

Maisie have fun! Cya later :)

12:28 pm

heh, i did -- do you need it?

12:30 pm

eva, no I thought you literally meant there was a cheese-and-rice word, not just a clue to one :)

12:31 pm

oh...haha.... i was referring to the No5 -- cheese-and-rice is just something my friends + i saw sometimes instead of cursing... another favorite is "thats horse-hockey!" ;)

12:32 pm

lol eva! Okay..now I'm clear on it yeah, that word is a real pootiehead

12:32 pm

Gee, this is the earliest I ever finished one...What to do until the flip? (ugh, housework most likely)

12:34 pm

chic Congrats! *lights some candles in her honor* @ @ @ {} {} {}

12:35 pm

tu for the cool candles!

12:36 pm

any help this afternoon for the ma6's and ma7 ty

12:36 pm

chic I'd being doing the rest of my housework right now but I'm staying out of the heater installers' way. I don't want to give them any excuse to finish up. They do seem to be doing a great job, though...very thorough

12:38 pm

pbr ma6/21 opposite of woman + vowel + opposite of "fro", like ** and fro. ma5/24 is like ma5/21 only add a different vowel at the end ma7/40 (oppo of woman) + Vowel (oppo of me) + something children wear on their hands in winter, (drop one "t")

12:41 pm

Im off now supper to cook .Catch you all tomorrow happy babbling...LOL X

bye Cait

12:42 pm

caitlyn enjoy dinner! Cya soon :)

12:42 pm

MissyMe -- thanks for the ma6 clues, I am still trying to crack the ma7!!

12:43 pm

MissyMe -- got it -- I had the wrong hand attire!!

12:45 pm

and i can't figure out that attire!!!

12:45 pm

pbr how's this: opposite of woman is ma* + opposite of me, (just use one vowel here) + a baseball glove is also called a ****, (drop that last "t")

neither can I!

i was doing the wrong letter for opposite of me....

thx for all the clues missy

12:46 pm

I hope the baseball glove attire is clearing than the child's glove :)

12:46 pm

for the ma 7 try "the opposite of THEM"

12:47 pm

12:52 pm

Good morning, everyone -- our old laptop is still going! ho 5/12, please?

12:52 pm

faeriekae :) YW The grid is short but I think the military made up this one because most of the words are stealthed!

12:52 pm

bye MissyMe.

12:53 pm

MissyMe - oh great! That's just what I expected but what the heck I'm not into this for the rankings or I would be booted out LOL

12:53 pm

Norad - I updated my profile w/ quotes from Winnie the Pooh...the first one is very appropriate!!

1:20 pm

I used to write down the time I started the grid and then the time I finished. I stopped this because it was depressing...are they're really 25 hours in a day?

1:21 pm

Missy - I pop in and out so much it would be hard for me to keep track. lol

Missy - I never attempted to do that...I catch the puzzle different times throughout the day...it would say 15 + hours all the time!! LOL!!

1:23 pm

lol I do leave and come back while I'm working on it otherwise I would go bonkers...and blind.

1:23 pm

That's funny EB and so true, my misses usually produce a word or two in every puzzle...LOL MissyMe, thank goodness only 24 hours, couldn't take another!

1:26 pm

1:41 pm

Thanks Missy...I just googled it...Master Splinter...this is soooo funny...takes me back to when my teens were little...these days I miss their innocence...

1:41 pm

Splinter...that's it...I couldn't remember

1:42 pm

hurshy...don't know if we've "met," mostly I lurk because I have limited puzzle time...but I usually enjoy the chat between you pro's!!!! :)

1:43 pm

Norad...I'm waiting for my grandchild, born March 11, so I get to that kind of fun all over again soon :D

1:43 pm

but, you are a pro, too, norad. anyway, nice to meet you. :)

1:44 pm

hmmmm, March 11, 2005?

1:44 pm

there were a lot of "almost" words today that frustrated me...woolly, holly, alloy, etc.

1:44 pm

no I meant...the coming March 11, 2006...my sentence construction is atrocious this morning!

1:45 pm

hmmmmm, March 11, 2006?

1:45 pm

Congrats Missy.... and yes how about hu 5/14?

1:46 pm

what fun you have in store for you!! might be awhile before the TMNT stage though...

1:47 pm

1:47 pm

hu 5/14: variant spelling of common greeting

1:47 pm

1:48 pm

Cybernan - Thanks, got it right away

Missy - are you sure (I'm willing to split the winnings!!)...

1:48 pm

1:48 pm

faerie hu 5/14 another way to type the greeting he***, change the last vowel from an "o" to a different one

1:48 pm

1:53 pm

faerie and eb are making such assumptions! and missyme, it's sapien not sabien, just a typo?

1:53 pm

mu6??? help!!!! ty

1:53 pm

Christa Click on Babbler's Anonymous to the right, then General...the first post lists a great word list, the first two letters of the word, the number of letters in the word and the points for it

Christa - it all depends on the grid - sometimes the ones with 200 or more seem 'easier' b/c you can find so many words (other times, they're beasts!!)

1:54 pm

Hurshy - this is soooo true lol.

1:54 pm

woo hoo! done!

1:54 pm

hurshy...I'm bad this morning...yeah that was a typo

1:54 pm

pbr - see whole discussion about teenage mu6 ninja turtles

1:54 pm

Thanks MissyMe. I picked that up this morning while lurking on the rest of you chatting.

1:54 pm

1:54 pm

Efor *%*%*%Fireworks*%*%*%

1:55 pm

mu 6/24: Mu_____ Ninja Turtles

my apologies to the aliens, fish, dogs, cats, monkeys (of course) and any other beings that may be playing the game!!

1:56 pm

congrats, efor!

1:56 pm

missy - i think almost everyone uses it for at least SOME of the words.

Congrats efor!!

1:56 pm

It does help. Thanks for letting me join in. I was only going to lurk on the chat but that word was eluding me and driving me crazy.

1:57 pm

Bye Everyone -- see you at the flip :)

1:57 pm

the more chatters the merrier in babbleland!!

1:57 pm

EB...I just got a message through my tinfoil hat...the aliens on Beta Fish Dog Cat Monkey Star are offended...they informed me they don't want to be spoken of in the same vein as hu***s.

1:57 pm

ok gang, i really need to go and get some work done around the house...congrats on finishing efor, good luck on the first grid christa..."see" you all later and thx for the clues...

thought I was done...just realized I have a to 5/12 to still get.... is this a 'fish' word....or would a clue help??

2:00 pm

EB to 5/12 the hard things you chew with in your mouth...

Missy - I'll throw in some cheese for Gouda measure...

Missy - dentures?? there's no D or R!!

2:01 pm

EB oh.......you are punny today! :)

2:01 pm

yo homies on this fine evening ^^

2:02 pm

Cut that back to a single dent...just one...just one little ahrd thing left in your mouth the doctor didn't pull

*Pounces on Miya to give a HUGE HUG* Hiya Hun!! How are you??

2:02 pm

Miyavi Hello Lovely icon! yet some more creative work...

2:03 pm

MIYA !!! :D does my bum look big in this?

2:03 pm

*falls backwards* Hey Easty! I'm great thanks, how are you?

2:03 pm

Ooooh, thanks Missy! :D Babs...er...no comment XD *huggles*

2:03 pm

Babbler ROTF! Nope...not at all...it's lovely...

I'm good!! Hiya Babs! *pounces on Babs to give her a HUG*

2:04 pm

Miya - hi - *sprinkle, sprinkle, sprinkle* Faerie Dust to spin in and join the gang

2:04 pm

EB did you want the fish or should I just throw it back in the pond?

2:05 pm

Babbler - How are you....I got my bathroom painted and it looks wonderful.

2:05 pm

lol Faerie! Thank you :D

Missy - I'll take the fish...*WHACK* *gently releases dazed fish back into the pond*

2:06 pm

*falls over after EB's big hug* LOL! :D hey Missy, faerie, *looks around* no one else in? Hi if you're lurking!!! heh heh : )

2:07 pm

EB Poor fishy...he does feel secure about the wi5/28 word...no way in Heck is anyone gonna slap him around for that one!

2:08 pm

I'm ok faerie, thanks, but I've kind of lost of my voice today. I've had a sore throat etc since the weekend. At least it's not killing me anymore. : ) What colour is your bathroom now?

faeriekae - what color?? did you sprinkle it with faerie dust too??

2:08 pm

There are good folks who are lurking...some are smurking, and one just left to turkying her turkey for dinner

2:08 pm

Babbler - the answer to your question is 'yes' LOL Those pants really do make your butt look big..

2:09 pm

Faerie!! *gasp*! :o how rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrude!! (lol!!) ;)

2:09 pm

faerie...well at least there aren't any pantylines

and there's a hand that seems to like it!!

2:10 pm

Babbler, speaking of rude...whose hand is that?

2:10 pm

that would be Rupert Campbell-Black, of course!! lol! : )

2:11 pm

Babs, it's...pleasantly rounded ;D

2:11 pm

Well Babbler and EB it is called Pixie Wing by Behr paint and it is sort of a very light violet with gold grante sparkles in it. I did the ceiling and trim in Bridal Vail White. It did turn out nice.

2:12 pm

Babbler...known as the 24-carat cad? lol

faerie - it sounds pretty...congrats on a job well done!!

2:13 pm

faerie...the names they come up for paint nowadays...lol

2:13 pm

EB - getting the old wallpaper down was the yucky part.

2:14 pm

ewww nasty, tedious job

2:14 pm

faerie, that sounds gorgeous!!

2:14 pm

heh, thanks Miya!! lol! : ) have you read any Jilly Cooper?

2:15 pm

I'm ashamed to say I haven't :( I go in for horror...anything gory that stops me from sleeping. all together now...MWAHAHAHA...

2:15 pm

I read Sci-Fi...and Stephen King, (only horror author I read)

2:16 pm

Miyavi lol

2:16 pm

Babbler it is pretty. It is a womans bathroom by all means. I have it so fu fued up.

2:16 pm

*quakes in boots at the very thought of horror stories* : /

2:17 pm

faerie lol about fu fu...

2:17 pm

Has anyone read my book? It's John Irving "A Prayer for Owen Meany?"

*hiding eyes from horror stories...realizes she can't see the chat log....* *uncovers eyes* I stay away from horror so I can sleep at night!!

2:17 pm

awww, Babs...I've got some friends coming round on the weekend for a scary film marathon...I'm shivering and preparing cushion baricades at the thought :/

faerie - no...I haven't - but it's one of those books you always mean to read!!

2:18 pm

ok I have one blessed word left -- to5 -- I have the toy-opp off. help me before I go crazier!

Missy/Faerie - should it be foo-fooed??

2:19 pm

EB I'm not frightened by books or movies any more...now I'm just complacent and very critical if the book or movie isn't done well, I guess I've seen too much and read too much

2:19 pm

It starts out really slow but when it takes off you will not be able to put it down. It is a super book.

2:19 pm

me too, EB!! I saw the Blair Witch Project and (after it was explained to me cos I didn't geddit), I had to sleep with the lights on for TWO weeks!! : ( nooooo, Miya, don't do it! cancel it. it's gonna snow anyway. Read some fairy stories! oh hang on, they're just as gruesome..... play Babble!! : )

2:20 pm

Missy, have you seen the film of Stephen King's 'Carrie'? I read the book and was pretty disappointed by it

2:20 pm

EB I've always seen it as like fu fu colors...but you're version is probably right. "Foo" reminds me of the foo-fighters pilots reporting seeing during WWII

pbr - if you lose a to _ _ _, the to _ _ _ fairy might leave $$ under your pillow!

2:20 pm

EB --- ok, foo fooed *blushes*

2:21 pm

Miyavi, disappointed in which, the book or the movie? I've read the book and seen the movie...the movie was just okay...predictable though

...it's just the other one can be an abbreviation for sumthin' else...

2:21 pm

EasternBlue -- ty -- and to think I just had one pulled and just couldn't see the word...thanks again. phew

2:21 pm

lol Babs! Ahhh, it's all arranged now. BUT, I'll be watching the movies while snuggled into my boyfriend, whimpering...so it's all good XD

2:21 pm

How about a ho 4/5

pbr - I had to ask about that one too!!

2:22 pm

Miyavi Have you read the Dark Tower series?

2:23 pm

....the fish is getting a workout today :)

ho 4/5 - there are 2 1) like a b_ _ _ of lightening (only drop the b & use the h) or 2) what an owl says

Babs - I couldn't watch Blair Witch...the bouncing around w/ the camera made me nauseous!!

2:24 pm

WE HAVE HEAT! I can smell the heater smell coming from the vent. Now I have to go out and look at the new touch pad that was installed with the new heater...

2:24 pm

Missy, nope...I've only read a few of Stephen King's most famous ones - Carrie, Misery, The Shining and IT so far. would you recommend the Dark Tower series?

2:24 pm

the owl Ty...now the fish....slap....hands fish back....thanks again

2:25 pm

<----------only person on the planet who has not seen "The Blair Witch" or "The Titanic"

*gently places another dazed fish back into the pond*

2:26 pm

What was the Blair Witch Project about, anyhows?

2:26 pm

Miyavi...yes...it's so well written. But be prepared to take a few years of your life to do it...every one of the books in the series is typical of Stephen King's "diarrhea of the pen" style. Long books!

2:28 pm

lol Missy! Are any of them longer than IT? over 1100 pages...too...many...

2:28 pm

Hello everybody! Some clue with wi 5/28? Thanks in advance.

Maru - rhymes with the number after 49

2:29 pm

Miyavi Some young people do a project on a witch near the town of Blair...they take a video camera with them into the woods...the come up missing and a few weeks later the video footage is found...the movie is what is supposedly seen on the footage of the missing young people

2:29 pm

No Miyavi IT and The Stand are probably his too longest ones :)

2:31 pm

Thank you Easternblue... Thanks a lot!

Maru - no problem...that's how I got it too!! (with a clue!!)

2:32 pm

EB 51 comes after 49 but doesn't rhyme at all with it...so do a bunch of other numbers... :P

2:32 pm

ah, doesn't that sound fun ^_^ I heard something about circles of stones?

52, 53, 54....1,000,001....

2:33 pm

Me again how about the im words?????

2:33 pm

Miyavi From what I gather, its presented as real video footage without editing...meaning there's a lot of time just looking at grass when the camera is down, dark scenes and other boring things...I think they do find a circle of stones somewhere

im - 4 - im + I _ _ (he is, you are...) 5 - the same, with another letter before the last one...

2:35 pm

ah hah...so not recommended then?

2:35 pm

im words i + polite word to call a lady, opposite of "sir" add another vowel after the first vowel in the second im word

2:36 pm

Miyavi...from everyone's description, much of which I gave you, is the reason I didn't bother to see it

2:36 pm

lol Missy...thanks :D

hi faeriekae, babs, missy, eb. pbr. miyavi, ...

2:37 pm

Temple hello again :)

Hello again T-Owl!

2:37 pm

HI Temple *have some Faeire Dust*

* brushes dust off head* thanks faeriekae! finished too soon - i am out of sync today!

i did not like the blair witch movie...it was way too hyped...

2:39 pm

Temple I did the same...I usually expect to spend a few hours on a puzzle this short but finished it under an hour...now I'm at a loss as what to do Did you get some housework done?

ROFLMAO!

2:39 pm

jumping in here for a second, i recommend the blair witch project

2:40 pm

Temple, do you remember the ballyhoo when the Blair Witch came out. They were touting it as real footage, a real event...not fiction...it fooled a lot of people at first

buti did get some salaried work done...not as much as i'd like though..anyone need clues?

2:40 pm

mornin' all

2:41 pm

granadan Hello :)

2:41 pm

fooled (scared) the bejesus out of my hubby

yes missy, i do...the ad campaign annoyed me no end...

2:41 pm

Granadan - Hello

2:42 pm

eva I heard such negative things about it I avoided it, what did you like about...maybe I need to hear something positive...

2:42 pm

evening all :) hey nut - you should go Pro and get an Evanovich book cover for your icon... :D

2:42 pm

it's hilarious! i love the scene in the tent...cracked me up

Hiya Sherb!

2:43 pm

sherb hello :)

hello, evan, sherb...

2:43 pm

i'd love to go pro sherb - maybe i'll start a take pity on the nut fund

2:43 pm

eva there was comedy? :D

evan...then you'd have to serach for icons and change them every day....myself, i cannot take the pressure ;D

2:44 pm

hi EB, MIssyMe, Temple :) :) :)

2:44 pm

well missy, i don't think it was supposed to be comedy, but really

2:45 pm

72 - just think, a different spandex for everyday

2:45 pm

Is it any book cover or a certain type today? *shifts farty lap warmer nearer to Miy.....*

2:45 pm

Temple - you could always be the steady kind, like sprite and Hugs, and keep the same classic icon... :)

2:45 pm

lol eva Unintentional comedy is even better than on purpose. I guess that's why I took to MST3k so well...schlock is fun!

evan - i kept hoping the screaming woman would be kiled by the whatever, i got so tired of hearing her scream...not exactly waht the firector hoped for : )

2:46 pm

did scare my husband though, you should have seen him in the dark on the way to the car.

i meant directot : )

2:46 pm

Temple...you know a movie is bad when you start rooting to have the main character killed...lol!!!

or maybe director....sorry to waste the log : (

2:47 pm

rotfl... sober up your keyboard!

granadan - any type of book cover...

2:47 pm

poor hubby...

2:47 pm

to give the director credit, i believe it was a student film project

2:48 pm

Ta EB -

2:48 pm

eva...wasn't that part of the promos, though, the idea that it was a student film and not made by the two professional gentlemen behind it?

2:49 pm

i thought the idea itself was a student film though, limited budget and all that

2:50 pm

alright..we've talked about so much now, I'm piqued...I probably can pick it up for 99 cents on Amazon

2:52 pm

hi there!

2:52 pm

3:00 pm

Hi everyone! I'm back for the final push. 19 to go!

lalobstah: it means to emancipate; set free

Hi Deutsch!!

3:04 pm

*Sings* Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh... I love Winnie the Pooh!

3:04 pm

lalobstah ma7/40 (oppo of woman) + Vowel (oppo of me) + another word for baseball glove, (drop one "t")

3:04 pm

hi Deutsch :D

3:05 pm

Hi Sherb, I don't have my glasses, so I can't quite make out the cover of your book. What is it, please?

3:06 pm

'frankly my dear, I don't give a damn...'

3:06 pm

WINNIE THE POOH Deep In the 100-acre woods Where Christopher Robin plays You'll find the enchanted neighborhood Of Christopher's childhood games A donkey named Eeyore is his friend And Kanga and little Roo There's Rabbit and Piglet Then there's Owl But mostly Winnie The Pooh Winnie The Pooh Winnie The Pooh Tubby little tub all stuffed with fluff He's Winnie The Pooh Winnie The Pooh Willy nilly silly ol' bear Winnie The Pooh Winnie The Pooh Tubby little tub all stuffed with fluff He's Winnie The Pooh Winnie The Pooh Willy nilly silly ol' bear

3:08 pm

aw twas a grand film...

3:08 pm

good show, MissyMe. Brings back nice memories. Always loved that bear!

3:08 pm

misspelling...should be tubby little cub all stuffed with fluff

3:09 pm

gran - I read the book before I ever saw the film... one of the few books I've read more than once...

3:09 pm

and not But mostly but... But most of all, Winnie the Poo Wow the site I took that from must have just got the words from a poem, not the song lyrics

3:11 pm

Well hellloooo all! How is everybody?! Missyme - great clue for the stupid Ma7 word!

3:11 pm

hellloooo smaller :D

3:11 pm

Awww, MissyMe, I thought you recited from memory. Hi Smaller!

3:11 pm

Hey smaller

Missy & Deutsch...now I'm humming the song & my co-workers are looking at me funny!!

3:12 pm

My mom has an original Poo bear which doesn't look anything like the ones they have now. It was brown, very thin with moveable arms and legs...and I think real horse hair. When I was five I sewed bright neon pink threads onto his head because he was "bald" and I didn't like it...my mom saw what I did and didn't like it either...the pink hair, that is

Hi smaller... Hi Jessie

3:12 pm

EB lol!

3:12 pm

HI Jessie, Deutsch and Sherb! I just had a WONDERFUL sales meeting!

3:13 pm

Hi EB

3:13 pm

what was the outcome?

3:13 pm

smaller...you actually had a wonderful meeting? Good for you! Meetings are usually so boring...and nonproductive

3:13 pm

did you get a raise

Missy - some of the 'new classic' are at least a little closer to the original... I saw him in the NY Public library...altho' I still think he belongs in England...

3:15 pm

MissyMe, LOL! I once cut off my doll's hair and told my grandmother it would grow back. (It didn't!)

3:15 pm

EB...they're making old classics now? I wonder how the kids are reacting to them...they just look like a skinny brown bear and not the cutsey, cubby stuffed with fluff they're used to. Is Disney making them?

3:16 pm

Deutsch ROTF! I was notorious for "modifying" my dolls when they didn't suit me

3:16 pm

LOL! nope no raise. but i did get to vent and things are a changin' so a very productive meeting

3:17 pm

oh boy, I'm glad I'm not your boss smaller... the thought of you venting...

3:17 pm

although, it was my brother who drew anatomically correct things on my Ken doll... o-0

3:18 pm

smaller - did i get a raise????

3:18 pm

Barbie got ear rings when we stuck her ears with straight pins with colored balls on top! LOL Can't decide if we were sadistic or creative

3:19 pm

MissyMe, ROTFLMAO!

3:19 pm

Deutsch lol! You were just showing your fashion sense

Missy - not quite like the original but closer than the "Disney" version... (altho' I think Steif sp?? does...)

3:20 pm

Believe me, MissyMe, that was the last time for fashion sense!

3:20 pm

Renny- OF COURSE you got a raise. That's why I was venting. You are far too underpaid. Sherb- LOL!!! true!

3:21 pm

One more ho 6/21 I've been looking for an hour:-(

3:21 pm

I think it's spelled with two f's, EB

3:21 pm

not solid crista.

3:21 pm

sorry - wrong ho6

3:22 pm

good afternoon--any clues for the last ho4/12 or ma6/24?

3:22 pm

Christa ho 6/21 ho + double consonants + double vowel It's another version of the greeting He***

3:22 pm

yep got that one. It's the other one.

Christa - I never liked to get the ho _ _ _ _ _ chocolate bunnies at Easter, I preferred the solid chocolate bunnies!!

3:23 pm

got it - thanks. I think this game is going to improve my vocab.

3:23 pm

thanks eb 8) and thank you smaller!!!!!

3:23 pm

BTW, why do you all have cute nicknames and my real name shows up. I want a cute nickname.

3:24 pm

lwg50 ho4/12 ho + "double-u" + consonant that hooks at the top and crosses like a "t", (it's an animals appendage at the end of it's leg)

3:25 pm

Ren, ...but I'll hold on to the extra money from the raise for you. You fritter. I promise to spend it wisely. For you.

3:25 pm

Christa - go to 'My Profile' (top right) and click on 'Show my player name'... :)

3:25 pm

lwg50 ma6/21 opposite of woman + vowel + opposite of "fro", like ** and fro. ma5/24 is like ma5/21 only add a different vowel at the end

3:25 pm

missyme- that animal part shows up as my 4/8. maybe I am missing the obvious

3:26 pm

smaller - i'm telling on you!!! i don't fritter...i just like to shop!!!

3:26 pm

smaller - that's a little unfair... ren only buys absolute necessities... like gobstoppers...

3:26 pm

Okay so I obviously need to log in differently tomorrow and change my player profile. I put my real name in. Can you tell I'm new to all this?

3:26 pm

*replaces the word diddly with fritter because she likes it better*

3:26 pm

opps...yes...what sherb said...i only buy gobstoppers!!!

3:26 pm

lwg - respell it.

3:27 pm

Christa you can change it now on your profile then just refresh the page

3:27 pm

it's ok, Christa, you can come back with a different name and we'd never know... now, what name are you going to choose?...

3:28 pm

thanks, got the ma...now I will try to see the other

3:28 pm

christa - email dr g-d....

3:28 pm

thanks, got the ho4/12!

3:28 pm

hmmm I'll try again, it didn't let me. I'll be back as music mom.

3:29 pm

Ren and Sherb... hmmm. I'll think about it. and spend her raise in the mean time

It didn't work. I think I need to pay the money and I also need to switch to firefox. I logged in on Safari this morning.

3:34 pm

anyone have a clue for MI 7???

3:35 pm

Firefox is probably best. I use Opera because one of my programs messed Firefox up and no matter the repeated attempts to remove, add back on and clean up my computer, Firefox refuses to work. Opera works just "okay" with the site and messes up on many others

3:35 pm

There was an excellent clue at 10.28 by missyme for the mi 7

3:36 pm

myownvenus mi7/36 60 seconds, (drop the "e") + two vowels at the end

3:36 pm

Hello again ExWren :)

3:37 pm

Finished the grid!! Have just finished a handful of them. Thanks for the willing help

3:37 pm

6:38 pm

*makes Anj a stiff drink, reaches over and puts it on his desk* :D sup up!

6:39 pm

Christa, I gave you the definition. If you google it, it will lead you to the word. (scroll down a little) :)

6:39 pm

Babs, what is your book like?

6:40 pm

hey didn't think to google. Thought --- hmmm I don't know a word for that<g>

6:40 pm

6:40 pm

Mab, I've read nearly everything by Jilly Cooper. It's romantic fiction, but very very funny with it! I've read it countless times since I was a teenager. It's the first in a series (still underway) : )

6:41 pm

siggy - ma* (opposite of woman + proper pronoun (not me) + catcher' glove

6:41 pm

Christa, or, as I said before: famous football club + glove :D

6:42 pm

*Anj chugs stiff drink* Cheers Babs : )

6:49 pm

...whoops, sorry Yvo, your post was buried under a ton of garter fiction : / mi4/4 - sounds like someone who works the pits. Or a mimic bird without the last H : )

6:51 pm

I'm confused!! right, think I'll just put the kettle on before I make a total idiot of myself..... brb.... :s

6:51 pm

6:51 pm

Anj used a word! Gonna tell Dr_God! Gonna tell Dr_Go-od! Na, na, nee, nar, nah! Lol.

6:56 pm

Ren - I'm well practised in howling. We used to go up to Cwm Buchan lake in N. Wales (where there's a great echo) and howl at around midnight to scare the campers.*Grins broadly.*

6:56 pm

anj - when you say it that way it sounds french....

6:57 pm

mistress....i believe it - you rascal you!!!

6:57 pm

Cybernan - Hi! Yes, thanks. Finished hours and hour ago. Just here to natter and give clues. Anj - Have you done a parody song for BabAnon yet?

6:59 pm

Me too -- using a very old laptop until my new computer arrives -- quite a challenge!

7:00 pm

Steady Ren, I didn't mean to make with the sexy chit-chat lol : D Jac, I haven't jet...few things on my mind at the mo. I will have a think about that next week : )

7:01 pm

I see you've got The Da Vinci Code there, Cybernan. My ex-hubby bought me that for Xmas 2004. I must get around to reading it.

7:01 pm

Anj - Ok. Hope all is well.

7:02 pm

Don't put it off Jacula -- it's the best read I've come across in a long time. Waiting for the movie to get into the video stores now.

7:03 pm

Cybernan - It's not so much a case of 'putting off' as 'finding time'. I've at leat 300 books backed up to read (and that's no exaggeration).

7:03 pm

*least

7:03 pm

Angels and Demons by the same author was pretty good too.

7:03 pm

Thanks Jac...everything's fine, i'm just doing a presentation tomorrow night and I always fuss over the prep : )

7:04 pm

DONE!

7:04 pm

Okay Anj. I'm signed in if you need a 'panic chat'.

7:04 pm

You'll have a long wait for the movie to hit the stores as it isn't even in theatrical release yet. Jac .. the book is fast paced, easy and quick to read. Move it to the top of the stack! I think you'll really enjoy it.

7:05 pm

9 minutes jb....

7:05 pm

*~*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR JBs*~*~*~*~

7:07 pm

see who loves you jb...it's me i said 9 minutes first!!!

7:07 pm

which is generally why I don't post a lot.

7:07 pm

Oh, Jac, read the DV Code - one of the fastest good reads for me last year. I'm backed up about 20 books...wondering just what 300 you have to read?

7:08 pm

yes mistress...note sped rellers,,,uh...spel redders...

7:08 pm

LOL, ren!!

7:08 pm

Congrats, Christa!

7:08 pm

Darleen - it depends if you're on Broadband, and then how close to the telephone exchange you are. Speeds vary, no matter what you pay. Heck! I sounded like an Ann Summers rep there!

7:09 pm

Better go and start on supper -- see you at the flip!

7:09 pm

LOL Jac. We just went on DSL last September. We're supposedly getting 1MB? All I know is it's much faster than dial up and I'm very happy these days.

7:09 pm

lol mistress - i was redding so fast i thought you said how close to the telephone you sat....8)

7:09 pm

later nan...8)

7:10 pm

'Bye Cyber! JBs - I'm wondering that myself! (What 300 books, that is.) *Note to self: STOP buying books!*

7:10 pm

bye cyber! : ) congrats to all who finished!! :D

7:11 pm

Same problem Jac... too many books, not enough Me : /

7:11 pm

me too (too many books) :/

7:12 pm

me too also as well...and i bought 4 more this past weekend....

7:12 pm

I'm so glad for e-books on Palm - makes the wheels on the bus go round and round real fast, and before I know it, I'm at work!

7:12 pm

Me three on the books. They're piled so high by the bed I can barely get in! I wish I could just press the danged things to my forehead and transfer it into my brain.

7:12 pm

Okay. Got The Hobbit for my icon now. I'll have to scan in my old copy of it, not this modern cover on my icon. Shame, in a way, to get rid of Jack London's wolf though... that howl I did came right out of his mouth. Looked rather good, I thought.

7:13 pm

.... and then there are books I want to read but haven't got hold of yet....... : /

7:13 pm

Hey, I'll check in later for chat and clues - I have to get supper and pay bills, and watch <shhh> American Idol - I love the audition shows! Good night if you're not here when I get back!

7:13 pm

hey jb...that's what i do when i fly...that is before i pass out from the valium...8) (is that fear of flying...or was that a book?)

7:13 pm

...40 or so unread beside the bed. They are probably creating their own literary continuum... ...and i've just ordered two more by Charles de Lint...

7:14 pm

nite JB! : )

7:14 pm

But that's why we are all here, isn't it? Because we love words!

7:14 pm

ok all you beautiful - lovely people - i'm going to supper w/ my nephews....

7:14 pm

I can't read for more that 2 hours at a time anymore, though, get terrific headaches and very fuzzy vision, even with a boost from glasses.

7:15 pm

nite Rennie! :D Jac - aye! : )

7:15 pm

Later ren! We'll trade ebook stories!

7:15 pm

That's quittin' time for me too : ) Night all... happy Babbling. Catch you next time : D

7:15 pm

Have a great time, Ren. Talk later.x

7:15 pm

My trouble is, once I start a book, I find it hard to put it down. I dive in and I'm THERE with all the characters! lol! :D

7:16 pm

nite Anj!! Good luck for tomorrow, hun! :Dx

7:16 pm

'Night Anj. Sleep well and good luck with the presentation.

7:17 pm

JBs - No headaches here, but need to take specs off to read books these days. Varifocals beckon but I can't afford 'em yet! Babbler - Same here. That's why I also write, I guess.

7:18 pm

Babbler - Once you've charged through a book, don't you feel sorry that you've finished it and have to leave 'everyone' behind? I know I do!

7:19 pm

Yes, Jac I do! I feel so sad when I reach the last few pages. lol. I want to get back into writing... : /

7:19 pm

*Assumes market vendor's voice* - CLUES APLENTY HERE FOR ALL! ANY MORE FOR ANY CLUES?

7:20 pm

Babbler - Me, too. Been out of it seriously for too long. Just getting back into it now really.

7:27 pm

Hey all, I'm back and yes Babbler how about fo 4/5 and I'll take the fish with that

7:29 pm

Hi f/k. I assume you have found the fish in the grid?

7:29 pm

Jacula, sorry you were the one giving out clues. Sorry Babbler. But the fo 4/8 and the ho 4/12 and then we will see how it goes from there

7:30 pm

can't find the lu4/10

7:30 pm

what fish?? bows in shame

7:31 pm

fo4/8 - could be a guy's name, if it wasn't for the F. Think Michael, Mark, Luke and Jo**, and swap the J for the F.

7:31 pm

Fish - tu4/5

7:32 pm

ho4/12 is probably the silliest word in today's grid. Sounds like what you might say if a brick fell on your toe and you howled and almost started swearing!! :D

7:32 pm

Yes... I did find that

7:32 pm

lu4/10 - think Jewish word for tw4/8 - starts with a 'K'. Knock the 'k' off the start.

7:33 pm

Yes, Babbler, but ma7/40's pretty silly, too. Sounds like Beckham's team... almost.

7:34 pm

Sorry! Beckham's old team. Think Rooney's still in the team though and Georgie Best definitely once was.

7:35 pm

thanks, Jacula, figured it had to have the z in it just couldn't figure out the word

7:35 pm

Peri - glad you got it.

7:36 pm

Definition for lu4/10 - Only Diane Towler & Bernard Ford and Jane & Chris whotsit would have got that though: A jump in figure skating in which the skater takes off from the back outer edge of one skate and makes one full rotation before landing on the back outer edge of the other skate.

7:38 pm

ho 4/12 anyone?

7:39 pm

need 3 words to finish: to4/5, to4/6 and to5/12

7:39 pm

I'll share my Faerie Dust....(*^_^*)

7:39 pm

ho4/12 sound like a cross between a dog making a cross sounding bark and someone being given a body blow - oof!

7:40 pm

ho4/12 - ask a question and then add an 'f'.

7:41 pm

found the to5

7:41 pm

Jacula - Thanks I got it. *****Faerie Dust for you******

7:41 pm

to4/5 - change the last letter of the to4/4 above it (a fee or charge) to the 5th vowel.

7:42 pm

to4/6 - The first name of the UK Prime Minister.

7:42 pm

thanks Jacula, another new word for me

7:43 pm

thanks Jacula I AM DONE

7:43 pm

wa 4/11????

7:44 pm

Periwinkle - congrats *%~*%~*~

7:46 pm

There are 2 wa4/11's. One means to flap air about and the other is often part of a phrase, 'wa*** and strays'.

7:47 pm

faerie: floats in the air

7:47 pm

*~*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR PERI*~*~*~*~

7:49 pm

Piperb - Faerie Dust for yor * ** * now turn around * ** * there thats good. Jacula : Thanks I did need both *giggles* I have 15 words to go.

7:51 pm

Faerie - I'm still here for clues, should you need any.

7:55 pm

Jacula - thanks I'll keep pecking away and when I can't take anymore I'll reach for you. Like the ta 5/12.....

8:13 pm

fairiekae--think Sticks & Stones for ta5/12

8:13 pm

ta5/12 - to tease.

8:13 pm

Rhymes with what ghosts do.

8:17 pm

Thanks, I got it. Now on the the rest of the grid. I'm getting closer

8:25 pm

is the Z used at all in this grid???

8:26 pm

Tedsmom - lu 4/10

8:26 pm

tedsmom - z is used twice lu 4/10 zi 4/9

8:26 pm

clue for the zi 4/9 please.............

8:27 pm

Pasta, baby!

8:29 pm

Got both Zs, with your help. Thankzzzz!

8:29 pm

Sorry, couldn't resist the "baby" One of the guys I work with says bye like "Asta linguini!" and my reply is "Pasta, baby!" Lame, but it makes us grin. <grin>

8:29 pm

ty, tm!

8:30 pm

zi - ridged pasta tubes or sounds like a spotty person. Too late with the clue, though, I see! Sorry. Was off playing another word game.

8:30 pm

Jacula- Since you're offering clues, do you have one for ho 6/33?

8:30 pm

I'm still working on the pasta....I'm just about ready for bed.

8:31 pm

Kimm - ho6/33 - with nothing in the middle. Think 'Sleepy Ho****'.

8:31 pm

Jac, may I? Kimm, if you're from the South (US), they refer to them as 'hollers'

8:31 pm

Got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

8:31 pm

Or, in a horror story, 'he gave a ho**** laugh'.

8:32 pm

Thanks Jacula- that one had me stumped

8:32 pm

Good going, faerie!

8:32 pm

BBL - hubby's dinner time!!!

8:33 pm

JB - later, thanks for your help

8:33 pm

JBs - what's hubby having for dinner?

8:33 pm

Tell me when you return. LOL.

8:34 pm

Gotta go let dog out bbl.

8:35 pm

Latest icon is Frances Hodgson Burnett's 'Secret Garden'. I have a much nicer and older copy than the one on my icon, green sack bound with designs in the sackcloth.

8:35 pm

.......mu6/24?

8:36 pm

Changed icon now to a DH Lawrence book.:-))

8:37 pm

Tim - mu6/24. Ever heard of the Teenage Mu**** Hero Turtles?

8:37 pm

If not, think of a hideously deformed being.

8:37 pm

Tim change the last letter of mu6/21

8:37 pm

thanks jac :)

8:39 pm

hi everyone

8:39 pm

y/w, Tim.

8:40 pm

Hi Saphyre & Tigereye. Tigereye - that's one of my favourite stones. I have it on keyrings, bracelets and necklaces.

8:40 pm

just need 3........ma6/21?..ma6/24?..and the mi7/36?

8:43 pm

Definition for ma6.21 - 1. In Algonquian religious belief, a supernatural power that permeates the world, possessed in varying degrees by both spiritual and human beings. 2. A deity or spirit. Sounds like a short way of talking about a male whose car you may be pulling along with a rope between his vehicle and yours. For ma6/24 - change last vowel to 5th vowel in vowel list. mi7/36 - the small things.

8:44 pm

mi7/36 - think one 60th of an hour in time, knock off the last vowel and add a personal pronoun and a definite article.

8:45 pm

(Or knock off the last 2 letters of the time word and add the first part of a coffee licquer drink - '*** Maria'.

8:48 pm

*liqueur. Sorry, I'm a 'hot' speller, so I'm told but the 'li' word is one of my blind spots!

8:48 pm

More clues for ma6/21 and ma6/24...please?

8:50 pm

got the ma s....still on the mi....

8:51 pm

Mi is the stuff people get hung up on that can make one nuts!

8:52 pm

Tedsmom - Start with a male then add a personal pronoun and then something you'd put before a 'doing' word.

8:53 pm

Tedsmom - for the ma6/24 - do the same but change the last 2 letters to the French familiar for 'you'.

8:53 pm

TY Jacula!

8:54 pm

Tim - Sorry, not sure how to make the 'mi' word any clearer. How far have you got with it?

8:55 pm

Tim--For Mi, think of nit-picking

8:56 pm

coffee liquer drink?

8:57 pm

hello

8:59 pm

Will give you its name later, Tim. Meanwhile, here are driving directions for the mi word: Start on 1st M on left in 4th row down, down right to the 'I', up, up, down right, down right again, right.

9:00 pm

Hello jsummer. Are you chatting or do you seek clues?

9:00 pm

up up down down left left right right b a select start!

9:03 pm

thanks jac, have one ma 4/6 left,

9:03 pm

hiya jac. :)

9:03 pm

Hurshy - Yup! Australia Day, to be precise. *Sighs! 'I guess that means I'll have to turn the dials on my Kitsch doorbell to 'Advance Australia Fair'.*

9:04 pm

ma 4/6 except for the (algebra, calculus, etc) all the others have same 1st 3 letters

9:06 pm

Done ....Thanx Hurshy..

9:06 pm

yw, congrats tim!!!!!!!!!!

9:07 pm

Thats the one I needed.....Never was good at ma--

9:07 pm

m4/6 (after the sums) - Think Star Wars - Darth M*** Next ma4/6 sounds like what you do after someone dies, or the break of day. Or 60s singer, Susan M. Next ma4/6 sounds like a word for 'dead'.

9:07 pm

Drat and double drat! Too late again! LOL. Congrats, Tim!

9:07 pm

see y'all

9:08 pm

Hurshy - that WAS a brief visit! 'Byeeee!

9:17 pm

Will start singing 'Just a Spoonful of Sugar' very loudly soon! LOL. Or, maybe even worse, Dick Van Dyke's attempt at being a Cockney song....

9:19 pm

'Chim, chimney, chim chimney, chimp, chimp, cheroo...' Don't say you weren't warned... ROFLOL.

9:27 pm

lu 6 anyone?

9:27 pm

Hoot, first off, have you got ho6/33 -' nothing in the middle'? If so, take off the last letter for the 1st word and add another round vowel at the end for the 2nd.

9:29 pm

LeslieAnn - lu6 - definition: 1. Anatomy. The inner open space or cavity of a tubular organ, as of a blood vessel or an intestine. 2. Abbr. lm Physics. The unit of luminous flux in the International System, equal to the amount of light given out through a solid angle by a source of one candela intensity radiating equally in all directions. See table at measurement. 3. Botany. The cavity bounded by a plant cell wall. Sounds like lights.

9:31 pm

Thats that! You're kidding on those definitions right?

9:31 pm

Forbes - f4/12 o3/9.

9:32 pm

Hoot - don't give up! All you have to to is cut and paste the definition into Google and you may well get the word. If not, I'll try to help some more.

9:33 pm

Hoot - any idea where Wolfie is tonight?

9:34 pm

jac I've been working on this puzzle on & off all day. I'm pooped and the bf is waiting. Maybe I won't finish...

9:34 pm

Nope - but he may be working late if he's taking off friday.

9:46 pm

Ah! There is an no 5/20. Sorry! Think 'noway, no***!'

9:46 pm

Wolfie - THIS Friday? Hope all's okay? I'm on line, btw.

10:01 pm

Hey Jac! (*hug*) -- I forgot about the theme today -- will have to see what I can come up with -- I have soooo many choices ;)

10:01 pm

hoot you knew that off the def? you are a smartie!

10:02 pm

Yes - this Fri, Jac -- BP was a little too high at last dr visit and weight was up as well -- they moved up the date as a result -- nothing to worry about, just being cautious Sebastian wants to come out early just like his sister did ;D

10:03 pm

Wolfie - you couldn't do better than Jack London's 'White Fang' (which I had earlier) if you want a wolf. Hope you can find a version that doesn't squash the poor wolf till he looks like a white seal!

10:05 pm

Wolfie - same here!

10:06 pm

lu6 -- the middle of to provide light (il-lu****-te)

10:07 pm

Hoot - the mu4/8 has to do with Medieval entertainers who wore masks. Failing that, think what relation you are to Wolfie, in short form, change it to UK form and add an 'm' at the end.

10:07 pm

Dumb, dumb, dumb! Blind as a bat!

10:07 pm

BTW -- I have to reload both my messengers, my neighbor finally reloaded my system and they got wiped as a result -- so when I get the chance I will be able to chat online again

Hi Jacula- do you have a clue for wi 5/28?

10:24 pm

hooray saphyre!

10:24 pm

Yayyy for saphyre!!

10:25 pm

Ah! Larry Niven's Ringworld. Not read those yet.

10:26 pm

wi5/28 -- take an n word that means neato or spiffy and change the 1st letter

10:27 pm

Thanks GreyWoulf. Babblers are so generous.

10:28 pm

Kimm -- YW -- to be silent would be contrary to the name 'Babbler' ;D

10:28 pm

Hello Kimm. Ah, wi5/28. No true definition. Think weavers' talk... warp and weft, and then take the second word and change the 1st vowel the the 3rd vowel in the vowel list, then add the 'sometimes' vowel at the end.

10:28 pm

Failing that, think 'stinky' and change the 2nd 'f' to a 't'.

10:28 pm

Thanks Jacula. One word left.

10:29 pm

Brought Jack London's wolf back now, Wolfie. Had you refreshed and noticed?

10:31 pm

Yes, Jac -- ty :)

10:32 pm

Seems like the visiting troll took heed of my f4/12 o3/9 message at 9:31 on the log. LOL.

10:33 pm

11:10 pm

mistress - this word is from your eton college

11:10 pm

Ren - the nappy word is a 16/286, I think. What the BH is the word you just posted?

11:11 pm

and the accent is on the CA - go figure...

11:13 pm

Wm. Shenstone, love someone for his little or of no value love of money. LOL.

11:13 pm

it is the act of belittling someone or something - expressing the idea that he/she or it is of little or no value...i thought you would love to work it out!!! i's really a cool word...

11:15 pm

there's not enought letters in the grid to have it... it would need to be a sequel!!!!

11:16 pm

I was just about to say something the same myself, Ren.

11:18 pm

I wonder.... can the grid accommodate that immorta; word from 'Mary Poppins': supercalifragilisticexpi....

11:20 pm

probably in sequel format..and not the programming sequel... Sequel babbling..start today and finish next year!!!

11:21 pm

LOL, Ren! Any clue-hunters still out there, btw?

11:22 pm

40 mins to go on this grid - so it is possible to do! Take heart, any new seekers!

11:23 pm

Oh! I didn't mean the sort of New Seekers that are ging to start singing,m 'I'd like to nbuy the World a Coke....', btw.

11:24 pm

Excvuse bad typing - I'm knackered!

11:24 pm

11:26 pm

And here is another classic SF icon for the theme today -- sorry I can't stay to chat -- time ot tuck Kirsten in -- will try to be back later :)

11:26 pm

Yea, Ren! 'I'd like to buy the world a grid, and keep them seeking words.. I'd like to buy the world a grid and see them seeking fish...'

11:28 pm

hey hey wolfie!! tell kirsten hidy hey from me!!!!

11:28 pm

'It's the real thing (Babble is), Sorry to have missed you for now, Wolfie (it's the real thing!) LOL.

11:29 pm

..real thing, will make your brain squish, it's the real 'thing...' etc.

11:29 pm

i'd like to buy the world a grid and have them type for me...

11:34 pm

11:37 pm

beebee - it's wed for a few more minutes ( and that's not a word in the grid!!)

11:49 pm

YEEEEAAAAAAAAA Harp

11:50 pm

Beebee - I'll finally get off to sleep in about an hour, and, before I know it, my beloved will be bringing me tea and whispering in my ear that I should have been up hours ago. (That will be about 3 hours after I got to sleep). Given the chance, I sleep 8 hours straight, these days (though could once do with 5-6 hours) and will do 11-13 hours if left undisturbed.:-(

11:51 pm

jac- LOL, how true- how true-

11:51 pm

Ready for Australia Day, Mate! (Did I get the day right?)

11:53 pm

i guess i should be looking for what i'm gonna change into

11:53 pm

Aussie National Anthem: Australians all let us rejoice For we are young and free We've golden soil and wealth for toil, Our home is girt by sea: Our land abounds in nature's gifts Of beauty rich and rare, In history's page let every stage Advance Australia fair, In joyful strains then let us sing Advance Australia fair. Beneath our radiant Southern Cross, We'll toil with hearts and hands, To make this Commonwealth of ours Renowned of all the lands, For those who've come across the seas We've boundless plains to share, With courage let us all combine To advance Australia fair. In joyful strains then let us sing, Advance Australia fair. Okay! Done my bit for that now!

11:56 pm

Beebee - it's summer there now. A muscle t-shirt and a pair of shorts should do the trick. Add the corked hat, if you must.

11:57 pm
