hey stid :D hey Hugs :D
Thanks, Hugabugs. I'll get started.
and mrp :D
hi hugabugs
Hi stid
Can anyone help me with the be8/55? I've been searching and searching and just can't get it
be8 be+ run really fast change, the middle vowel to second vowel
thanks mrp
Thanks mrp... never heard of that (those) words before
sucky words tonight!!
be 9/72
*yawn* not as much fun as they could be, that's for sure!
hey how do you get good at this game? I suck
zas - a lot of it is just memory after you've played long enough
zas -- we all feel that way! or at least a lot of us do... we practice, we ask for help, we use the resources (a lot of good ones on Angelsong's page under the "Friends of Babble" link)...
thanks for the encouragement. I'm feeling really stupid. My vocab is obviously the pits
zas, don't get too discouraged! many of the words (especially the short ones) are really obscure, or from math or science or geology...
duh! I meant geography...
mrp -- could I get some help on the au 8 please? I am stumped (again)
geology too, stid... all those minerals
thx hugabugs *brightening*
speaking of geology, hehe... au8/50 is A yellowish, fluorescent minor ore of uranium with the composition
zas - when I first started playing, I told myself I'd learn some new words and expand my vocabulary... I've certainly done that, but most of them are words I never use in everyday conversation...
au8 - the season before winter... drop the last two letter and add the sometimes word for dark
Dogs, outside, barking.
hehe, geology, geography. I wouldn't know minerals from atlases sigh. I think I'm off to bed now. Maybe words will come floating in my dreams. Have fun all!
of course! so glad college geology is 20 years behind me... my prof would be apalled!
oops, I didn't put in the composition - Ca(UO2)2(PO4)2·10-12H2O.
that did it, thanks all. hi holly, what's the dog barking at?
that does the big ones for me, and I have about half of the smaller words... not bad so far!
oh -- good night zas
I just had to go to the dictionary -- and by that I mean the 20-volume OED on my shelf -- to define one of the words this thing just considered to be a match, since the dictionary link it gives didn't provide a meaning. Go figure. ;)
it would be nice to have the OED -- not sure which child I would have to sell to make room for it!
too funny stidmama!! LOL
I got the condensed OED as a wedding gift. And hi, I'm new :)
Hi Mighty!
Hi MightySpork! welcome!
I love my OED... my husband teases me about it constantly though
How many words tonight, by the way?
165 words today
Which means I have a hundred to go and feel like a moooorrrrooooonnnn..... *laugh*
well, my last 26 is going to have to wait to tomorrow morning... time for bed. Goodnight all, and happy babbling!

howdy haz!
Bye Mrp, sorry I missed ya! Hi Haz, good morning. & everyone else, for that matter.
Hello, renfield - how are you all doing?
i'm good now that it's the weekend and i don;t have any meetings to sit through! i can enjoy my friends here!
That's good - how have you found the grid?
i only have 22 words so far...but you know me - i have the television on and wtching a program. so i'm not focusing totally on the grid. so far pretty easy...
trishtrash!! never can MISS you!! great to see you again... hello and goodbye as it is dinner time!! See you later on!!
There's an unusually high number of u's! And hi, trishtrash!
lol, bye Mrp... enjoy your evening.
Hi All. Good to see so many on now.
Hi Dianne!
hi dianne
trishtrash and Dianne, hi! I just finished all the a-list, now to get through the bs... can't believe I'm at 108 already!
Morning dianne.
Nice going stidmama, and hi :)
Hi back all Ren - I saw Kinky on tv this past week - his incident was during a St. Pat's parade. He has quite a rant about the tavern arrest in Texas. Interesting guy.
Hi all - i really like todays grid, hated yesterdays.
dianne - he is a performer - that's for sure!
hi katie
hey katie
Hi Katie... I'm finding this one kinda sticky at the moment, can't get a good flow going.
I just looked at the clock! oh dear... time to toddle off. good night all!
nite stid..i'm going as well!
I seemed to get started more quickly on yesterday's as well.
Bye stidmama and renfield!
nite stid & ren.
Bye Ren, bye Stidmama
hiya everyone!! what is today's icon theme?
Morning, bex - it's April 1.
I'm a bit gloomy. Perhaps I should try to sleep.
ok thanks i have a new one!!!
Holly - maybe a good sleep will help to make you feel better.
Hi KatieW not doing so well with the grid and need to spend time on other things today!!
any help for the ni 6/24?
It was ih the grid a few days ago - looks like a night time eating place?
I've discovered that pa6/21 (comedian's line of chat) yields all sorts of words if you prefix it or extend it.
Mari - I've got to tidy up for important visitors!!
Mari - you wait until up the road here that you have an English flag on your ID - a rapid fall from grace is expected.
Katie honestly I've tried to change it before anyone finds out. Possibly need help with the technical aspect!
No problem for the sake of family unity we will try later.
mari - if you e-mail Dr-God he will be able to help.
Thanks
I'm taking a break - found 100 words and will return to find the rest. See you later!
bye Haz!
Bye all - things to do places to go. Have a nice day
Just popped in to show my April Fool icon before midday. Busy day today. BBL. Happy Babbling, folks!
not playing babble today going to see neil sedaka. so am very busy
is not wine an english word?
it is when you spell it correctly. :)
or priest
do i do somethign wrong? "wine" the alcohol drink?
the 'i' is not directly adjacent to the 'w' in this puzzle
only touching (sides, corners) letters can be used and not more than once per word
anybody have a clue for ry 5/16
ry4 def: A piece of iron crossing the hole in the upper millstone by which the stone is supported on the spindle ry 5 is pl.
muchas gracias!
y/w :)
wow i feel stupid now...lol...i could have sworn i tried that
it was like right there
LOL, that happens a lot to me too.
Happy April Fool's Day! Any clues for the ta7/28?
Does anyone know how many words there are today? Thanks.
165 words. Very frustrating that ta___bud seems to be 2 separate words.
Hi Eva ta7, just add a consonant to the 2nd ta6 (which sounds like something that is scruffy or worn, also a Scot? name for a common root veg.
... and it starts from the t in the bottom right hand corner.
FMitch. I must be blind. Only have one ta6, the one that means to shred, tear, and no matter which consonant I add to that I get rejected. What am I missing?!
LOL take the 1st 4 letter of the word you have and add 2 vowels to the end for the 6.
and once you ahve that add another letter to make the word "even more so"
A very quiet and embarassed "oh". Thanks!
Don't be quiet or embarassed, that not you!!! just go woohoo! when you get the 7.
wooooohoooo!
thats great!!!!! :)
Merp, who is looking out from my icon, is never quiet and rarely embarassed. He is walking around the bedroom tearing dried leaves from plants and muching them to let me know just how starving he really is. Sooner or later he will give one of the plants a hard tug and send it to the floor and then I'll HAVE to get out of bed.
LOL good ol' Merp.
I'm constantly amazed at what can come from brain the size of a walnut! Lets me know how little of mine I actually use.
FYI the 2nd ta6, take off the 1st t and make it a p instead and you will get another 6 word and if you play around with the endings you will find another pa6 too.
... and that will lead you to a 7/32.
Thanks, I have those. Have all the 9's, 8's & 7's now. Still need to find another 11 6's.
My score has been dropping lately. Just don't seem to have the concentration to keep at it until the very end. It's just too beautiful outside and we have a very small window between freezing cold and when the biting insects show up- about a month and a half, so I'm wanting to be out in the world....how bizarre. Clearly have my priorities confused(-:
I'm impressed, I have no 8's or 9's yet, mind you I'm still free typing rather than aiming at anything specific.
The 8's and 9's weren't that bad-aside from one very strange au8. Many of them come from the constellation you have been helping me with, more or less. The be prefix is important.
Eva, you have to make the most of it, spring is coming but is late here inthe UK this year, but the odd day of blue sky and sunshine makes such a difference to the soul.
We've been having temps 20 to 30 degrees warmer than usual for this time of year in Vermont. Days like this induce the amnesia necessary to remain here - "What 6 month winter?" "What black flies, deer flies, mosquitos?" "What greyness?". Although the mud is inescapable this time of year.
5 more mins of babbling then I must get on and do other things. See you again soon Eva and thanks for the hints on the 8&9's
au8/50 be8/55 be8/50 be9/72
oohhh thank you!!!!!!!
Time to feed Merp, meditate, take a walk, do some baking. Ah, what a burdensome schedule(-:
Enjoy your day Eva :)
The be9 should actually be listed before the be8. See you later.
morning!
Morning Angel, an just departing babble land for a while but had to say hi.
Good Morning to everyone

hi mac! : )
Hi Temple!

Morning cathy! :) Those are very encouraging words!
29 left...im trying to figure out if ill be able to finish on my lunch break...i still need to go to bed
im completely stumped on tw 5 and 6
nm...i just need sleep
It's a word my big sister used to call me ;) The 7 is the plural
oops,, I mean the 6 is the plural... I need more coffee :/

santa -- the tw's I have are something you might call someone you think is insignificant, and it's plural

Ginger Saffire gave a great clue at 7:02 for the au8
Ginger -- saffire gave a really good clue for that one just backa short way in the log, around 7:00 am
au8: first four letters of another word for fall, plus the opposite of day..
morning, all. Anyone have a clue for the be8 55..i have monkeytyped the be's to death and still cant find it..UGH
angel..who is that gorgeous woman in your icon????
woman, liana? you mean from yesterday?
I'll take a stab at the be 8 for you be + what a runner does to the finish line change the vowel to the second vowel
well, its kind of small..dark haired woman with a cat..I think.
good clue Sheryl .. thnx, I didn't have that one :)
the icon for today is just a fool. yesterday's icon is a woman I admire hugely. She is Helen Keller.

what's the theme today???
April Fool's Day My son has been thinking up things all week to play a trick on his sister, lol
April fool is the theme for today.
I should find a pic of my gran then, its her birthday today ...
Born on April fool's does anyone know why we celebrate april fools
are people still using the resource page?
I do every day angel
I'm stumped on the ni 6/24
I just used it to get the stats, Angel, and it's more wonderful than ever. Thanks again for creating it.
I plan to leave the page up, although the original purpose of putting it online was very different from what has evolved.
Sheryl-- just found the ni6 myself. It's got that "sometimes vowel" added to the ni5 right above it :)
april fool's stuff: http://www.answers.com/topic/a pril-fool-s-day
what was it's orignal purpose angel, I use it to find out what the icon for the day is and to get the stats
the original reason I put the resource page online was so that Babblers could see it and see how it works, to decide if they wanted their own page just like it to store on their hard drives.
I wouldn't be able to make my own page, just don't have the brain power, lol
sheryl...I make the page for people who want it. you don't have to do it yourself.
does anyone have a clue for the ni 6 pls tired of monkey typing
ni6/24 - was on a few days ago - ni5 plus sometimes vowel

do you?! EW! (sorry!) I can't think of anything worse! But she does - its something to do with a magnesium deficiency apparently! And yeah, I hope HUrshy's ok ...
Ello, fellow foolz. Look, up in the sky! It's a flightless bird!
* looks up * - oops, you got me judi
dropped from a plane?!
i'm speechless nut.....clippody clop...clippody clop
that's interesting, Atalante, I have a magnesium deficiency. hmmm....! interesting! : )
rennie, hellooooo, earth to rennnie!
Pretty foolish, standing under an ostrich in the sky...
don't i look 'devilishly' good?
lol nut!! (soz for delay - just going pro over in sudoku) : )
nut....howdy pardner....is that earth down there?
no, no, i'm sure it's mars.
that explains it all Babs!!!! Cos most of our chalk is made of magnesium carbonate not calcium carbonate (like natural chalk) her doctor can only think its something to do with her body wanting to balance magnesium levels
true or false: eating chocolate helps a magnesium deficiency? (hi)
'bout time, Babs. Jamie needs the moolah!
not to mention it's utterly delicious, Atalante! *smacks lips* ; D
eating chocalte helps EVERYTHING!
harp, that's a good look for you!
nut - just as i imagined!!!!
Atalante...what would ever cause someone to START eating chalk? Body imbalance or not!
Jamie's cute, he can have all the dosh in my purse if he wants! ;D
Harp, isn't chocolate one of the major food groups? It is on MY food pyramid!
good question ... babs? *puts interrogation spotlight on* why did you start liking chalk?
yes yes, such an imagination.
chocolate is essential to our general health and well-being. helps produce tryptophaN (??) which helps produce serotonin (??) all the feel good hormones. :D
speaking of iron sudoku, what's with 3 easy puzzles in a row??? Of course, then I have more time to Babble...
and babs, we all know that emulates the feeling of first falling in love *sigh*
Wow, Babs. Such erudition!
umm, Atalante, well, I don't know. It just looked so lovely and chalky, and then I tasted it and it was yummy, and that was that really. : )
doesnt it squeak against your teeth like is does on blackboards? ew!
i bet like those wintergreen lifesavers.
that squeak never bothered me.... but no, it doesn't, Ata! : )
Haz -- loved your Cousteau doggie so much, had to go find my picture of the swimming kitty. You may need to refresh, as I just added it :) :)
Well, I guess it might be like chewing on Tums.
thank goodness for that! *shudders at squeaking*
ooooh!! I'm addicted to wintogreen lifesavers!!! can't get them over here!! I have to beg my buddies when they visit the states!! which reminds me.... artladyyyyy???? please could you get me some wintogreen lifesavers?? pretty please? :D
dear atalante... i like birthday candle wax..... is this a sign that i like birthdays or birthday cakes? please help....waxing away in texas
there's a shop in London you can buy them Babs - or I can bring you some back in a few weeks if you'd like!
oh jeez these icons - babs, want me to ship you some?
dear renfield, I'm afraid that that is a sign that you really are completely mad. Please try eating chocolate instead, or if in emergencies, try earwax. It's more nutritious. love atalante
ren, it's 50 here, but it was 75 yesterday. wish it'd make up it's mind - ps - says here that craving for birthday candles is a sign that you have a bowling deficiency in your life.
Cathy - glad you liked the icon - I just picked it from Google images under April Fool because I thought it was such fun.
So Babs, I have to add that to my luggage in June, eh?
hey Ata, think you'll make it up to London to the Babble convention and meet artlady? mid-June.... : ) (and bring my wintergreen lifesavers??) ; )
LOL atalante!!! and nut!!!!!
yup! should do!
oooh, yes please, Artlady!! :D:D:D:D:D:D
Well Evan, I guess that means I bowled enuf in my life...no craving for candles!
That is a great pic, Haz ! The expression on its face is priceless :)
no no ren, that's not a joke, says so right here *points* on nutmed.web
Worthless information (and not an April Fool's lie): Wintergreen Lifesavers spark in the dark. Turn off the light in your bathroom. Stand in front of mirror. Bite wintogreen lifesaver. See spark. Really works. Weird but true.
ok nut.....i'm better at eating chocolate though...
that's very true, Judi. (I've done it many many times!!)
true, quite true
chocolate bowling ball? it'll leave skidmarks though.
Ummm, Judi? You need to find a hobby.... ;-)
Artlady, Babble IS my hobby. Worthless information is just something that sticks in my head. By the way, if you really want to have some fun, put a marshmallow in the microwave for about 30 seconds and see what happens.
peeps judi, peeps.
oh shoot, I gave my microwave away. someone tell me what happens? : )
I have to say, playing iron sudoku and babble at the same time is really causing my brain to spark like Judi's lifesavers!
judi...will we need to clean the microwave afterwards????
what! no micoriwave! * faints from shock *
Only have to clean the microwave if you zap marshamallow or Peep too long. The trick is knowing when to push the stop button.
I have a brain fog here, need 1 8 and 1 7 and the letters are jumping off the page at me!!!
i'm back, lol, troops all fed
yes, nut. I read that it nukes all the nutrients out of food and you're just left with fibre and water, effectively. So I thought, 'what a waste of time' and gave it away. My family took it, but only to reheat, not to cook. (my orders!) : )
hi sheryl : )
guess that means i'm still safe using it to make my tea.
Oh dear, I only have 36 words...time to focus...or get cleaned up to face the day. Good thing y'all can't really see me...I'm a fright!
tea doesn't taste right to me, when it's made in a microwave.... don't know what it is.... : /
I'm going to sudoku now... will be back later to finish this... bye for now ! :)
that p is conquering me - i'm never gonna get the p's
Babbler, it's because a microwave doesn't heat the water evenly.
*follows macuser* back shortly! : )
ahaa, thanks, harp : )
may i have a clue be9/72 Please
sounds like a good time to start the sudoku - what, with company and all.
be 9/72 could be a description of Jackson Pollock's technique. Lots of paint flung around.
great, clue, haz!!
can someone pls give me a clue for the un 5/12 pls can't find it
The art critics would probably be horrifed at my description!
un5 to pull together . . . the Un*** States of America
un 5/12 - means to bring things or people together.
add a letter to the un4/5
ty should have got that one
Going to take a quick walk - will check back later.
morning again. I've been out obtaining some files for work later. Hi, Ren. still liking your Babble page?
YOO HOO !!! Finished this one ... now time to go ove to Sudoku ...
congrats cathy
sheryl, I have the template I'm going to use to make your page :)
i can't for the life of me find the dr 5 any help pls
haz thank you but cant seem to connect ,any other clue please
ty angel i will keep an eye out for it
It may take a while, sheryl, but I have you on my list, and I won't forget.
ty angel
Ok, sudoku's done, focus on Babble.
okay need 2 more words and i need your help pls un 6/21 the last one and the dr 5 pls and ty
don't know how you can do the sudoko, numbers drive me nuts
add a letter to the un 5/12
have that one need the next one
how do u people understand those numbers
sudoku is really nothing to do with numbers
okay explain that don;t you have to make sure everything adds up in rows
i'm talking about how people understand 5/12
Hi all! I see that after we brought down that wall of A's the other day, we now have one of U's to contend with.
because nothing "adds up". you have to have one of each in a series. in ironsudoku, you have the option of using different colours or different letters, for example. its patterns.
samy/....un 5/12 means the word starts with un have 5 letters and because when you have 5 letters the score is doubled it is worth 12 points...the original 5 letters therefore add up to 6
ah i see i haven't even been over there yet, addicted enough to babble and spend enough time here, family would kill me if i get another computer addiction
o0O0o0oO0Oo
still needing those last 2 clues if anyone wants to help out. Determined to finish today since i haven't for the last 2 days
*grins* I loathe numbers with a deadly loathing, and I love sudoku. Don't be put off by the numbers aspect - they are simply a pattern to be used
any help with w's please, I have 3 that are a 4, 5 and 6, each adding one letter and a very common word...
Sudoku is just logic. Of course, often the logic is waaay beyond me, but it exercises the gray matter! ANd I don't need hints... :-( Babble's another story.
speaking of hints, lol
you guys have talked me into it, i will go try sudoko right after this
Atalante, I thought I hated numbers until statistics in college. Then I loved them! I discovered (or rather, REdiscovered) that I am a very atypical art person.
ginger, take your common word and change the third letter
Sheryl, it's a pretty easy one to start with.
thanks Atlante :-)
I say I loathe numbers, but I did do a PhD in mathematical biology :P I love how numbers form patterns, and I do like stats. But anything else is RUN AWAY!
maybe i will flip there for a bit and come back and tackle those last 2 words on here, be back
got it but I wouldn't have guessed that, can't remember last time I used it....
Sheryl - are you still looking for two w words?
what's mathematical biology, Ata? that sounds interesting! I love patterns and numbers. (says she who messed up today's sudoku already)
have a go - ask for tips on how to work the thing while over there - babs and friends should give you a few nudges in the right direction :)
i googled haz clues about be9/72 cant come up with anything ,any one can help please
we 4/8 - rhymes with 'fear' (sort of)
Yvo - add sp7/32
There is absolutely nothing simple about sudoku (?). I'm not afraid of numbers, having worked in accounts most of my working life, but I cannot do the 'S' game
Sudoku has nothing to do with numbers. It's pure logic. You could do the game using the letters A thru I just as easily.
it's not really about numbers, ex wren, it's about patterns. It's about what has to go where. It doesn't have to be numbers, you can use any symbol. I've seen a silly one in a mag that used make up and shoes! :D
Not that there is anything easy about Sudoku...... Just managed to finish one this morning.
well ... I was looking at how fish changed their shape and size on coral reefs through geological time. So there was a lot of stats, and making up new statistical methods, and also a lot of working with a huge number of dimensions to plot out how the fish changed in both shape and size. At one point, we started playing with databases including 149 dimensions LOL!
thank you haz ,as soon as i find the sp i will hopefully find the "be"
I know the theory, but I always end up with about 5 empty squares, and nothing to put in them
Yvo - it means to splash. Add s to pa6/21 9 either comedian's chat or one who strokes a dog)
I just messed up over there, Brandyjack. Gonna have to restart in a sec... : /
Ata, so it's about number patterns in biology?
Please pass the fish. I just struggled with the at 6/18. Brain freeze.
moring all! haz, don't you take breaks? ;-)
Hi brandyjack!
Hi stid. I notice you're back, too... ;-)
yup basically. its just quantifying things you observe I guess. patterns of how things become extinct, patterns of how things change through time etc etc
what did you focus on for your PhD?
Hi, stidmama - yes, I do take breaks! I was away this morning doing the horrible grocery shopping and am just back from a walk with the dog. Glad to say I've got the grid finished.
well then... YAY Haz!
Thank you!
hi artlady, just logged in. Going to be back and forth this morning, the boys have a friend coming over later...
hints on at 6/18 ...please ;-)
thank you hazel got the be greatful for the help was easy once you know ,
at 6/18 means one's mode of dress.
little cute fishies that lived on reefs about 250 million years ago
Glad you got it, Yvo - that pa6 is very useful in the grid today.
interesting, Ata, thanks. I want to do a PhD, but I can't decide on a subject... : /
PhD's are fun :) What kind of subject are you looking at?
thanks haz ...i was staring right at it - argh.
So, does anyone else share my current minor problem, which is that I have been Babbling so much that the letters have worn off my keyboard? Good thing I am a touch typer ;D OH, and, Good Morning All! Will be bouncing in and out unpredictably all day -- so if I don't respond to you, it means I got pulled away :)
I started a phd in instructional technology a number of years ago, but trying to work full time AND grad school AND family ... something had to give.
Mornin' Grey. Sharpie markers work great to put those letters back on... ;-)
So with all the spare time you had, artlady, you took up babble!
Ata, that's just it. I don't know where to begin...
Greetings to you all!!!!!
Afternoon, movieman!
That was Dr. G's mother's fault. And THEN she told me about iron sudoku!!!! Good thing she's retiring this spring. Who knows WHAT other time eaters she'd find for me!!!!
hi GW !! nope, not yet! ; ) greetings, movieman! : )
felicitations of the day to you, movieman!
well ... what are you good at? and what do you enjoy? and have you got a decent uni nearby where you could officially be registered?
Sorry, didn't mean to interrupt the convo :) I take my hat off to all of you who have achieved or are comtemplating your PhD. I have never been able to exercise the self discipline necessary to achieve one :\ I never even made it past a 2 year college.
hi GreyWoulf, movieman!
Ata, hmm... well I have lots of strengths and interests and passions. I live in South London, so there are a few good uni's around for me to choose from. And then there's the Open University if they don't take me...
When you come from an entire family of teachers, you don't have a lot of "choice" about college and career. My daughter will be the 4th generation (if she finishes college in education)
Ata, I'm a communicator. I love comms, numbers, patterns, visual arts, criticising the media, (I'm a vicious critic, lol!), ummm.....
GW did baby ever quiten down yesterday ?
grab me on msn or email if you want some half-decent advice and stuff, babbler. been there, done that, got quite a few t-shirts (addys in profile)
(*Hugs for stidmama, Babbler, Atalante, artlady, movieman, and anyone I may have missed*) I'll remember the Sharpie tip, artlady ;)
is that an addy, Ata? looks like a web link... ??
Grey, you should have seen my old keyboard at school (I now have a NEW 'puter...very nice). I could type fine, but it drove my students crazy!
below that :)
sudoku complete!
Grey, the good news is that babies grow up. ANd the bad news is.... My youngest is 19, still sweet, but there are days I miss when they were little!
Evan, yay!!
good for you evanonut! hi..
Yvo -- eventually... he fell asleep around 10ish - slept til 4 - was up til 5:30 and woke up again at 9 -- he is currently sleeping on my chest :)
thanks, Ata! gottem : )
thanks stid, art, now if only i could babble as efficiently
Isn't efficient Babblimg an oxymoron? :D
im done
good going, nut! I have to go back and start again... : /
hey gw - who you callin a whatcha-moron?
hi peoples. had to go get batteries - my stupid wireless mouse decided to croak. tried to steal from tv remote but those were AAA's.
Well today I feel like a moron, without the oxy...
Ah cliff, the wonders of modern technology...
hope its a better day for you, sounds like you didnt get alot of sleep
Good day all, in fine fettle, I see :-0....

hi Artlady Niles is not that far away
34 years, oh that sounds long, going on five in october.
happy anniversary chic! that is quite an accomplishment in this day and age.
hi Chic!! *grabs chic and draws chalk moustache on top of nut's contribution* :D
movieman, be 9 is getting lots of spots all over everything!
Congratuations chic!!!!!!
I'm at 114 words, but stayed up about three hours past my regular bedtime to get to 101... it's not as horrible as yesterday (in my opinion)
hey chic, is your anniversary the april fool. hahahahah.
ooooh!! happy anniversary, Chic!!! wow! :D:D:D
happy anniversary, chic!
happy Anneverary ,we recently had our 50th
evanonut -- what is your icon? a red devil?
du6?
yes stid, now if i'm bad, i can just say the devil made me do it!
Yvo -- how wonderful! my in-laws will celebrate theirs the last day of the year...
Angelsong, I need the same one (duh!)
du plus Fmericanised version of night
hi folks
Yvo -- I got enough sleep for me. Yesterday was the rough one cos I only got 3 hours total for the night. My biggest problen is that I don't go to sleep until after midnight so I miss out on being able to sleep for the entire 6 hour block that he has finally started at night
awesome, Yvo! It's for real and 'they' said it wouldn't last. (whoever they are)
Hurshy!
hurshy! ((hug))
hi everyone!
how many words today ...?
*shy smile* ((all))
Chic, congrats!! I'm on 28 years..same poor fool--I mean guy...
72! * oreo cream pie in the face *
hi temple.
only have 50 thus far
hi TempleOwl!
165 words
how's things today?
Chic, could you elaborate on your be9 clue plz.....? I'm still completely baffled.......
Hi hurshy...I'm 3 steps behind, as usual.
165 today.
hi, GW
what is your icon today hurshy?
i only have 29!
Movieman, it's what my students would like to do to their paper with paint...but I won't let them, although many artists do it...
((**hurshy**)) ((**Angel**))
hey can i ask you guys something? the people that have been married for 20+ years... my mom was just saying how she doesn't really know any couples her age who are still happily married... can i cite some of you to tell her that it is possible?
words
MM, you have to add the sp 7/32 to the be.... don't want to give too much away...
hmmm, you can cite me when i get to that age.
movieman: hot grease or oil will sometimes SP7. add the BE prefix for the 9.
things are better, today, atalante, thanks. my icon is an mc escher, i thought that would be appropriate for april fool's.
*scoops off cream* nut - i have cookie crumbs in my eye! *places cream where it belongs - on nut's head*
Hurshy, married in 1978, still there, no thought of being otherwise!
Thanx chic & artlady..... I'm never any good with the 7+ words.....
Hurshy, nice artistic touch. You're raising the tone in here... ;-)
artlady -- you mean like jackson pollack? I've seen one of his paintings in real life -- blech. Looks like a baby had stomach flu!
well, my mom and most ppl she knows don't believe in divorce - they just aren't happy. so, you guys ARE happy, then, artlady?
* works cream thoroughly into 72's hair *
Yes, Hurshy, it's called WORK at it... plus my husband didn't have a driver's license for the first 13 yrs of marriage and we lived in the middle of a 10,000 acre tree farm. so where could he go?
its very possible understanding and communication is very importend
Yes, stid, but you also have to look at the time and culture in which art was produced. he was revolutionary in his time. However, it still looks like...
chic, lol!
a blind eye helps as well.
aaaah -cream conditioner!
Jackson Pollack - the most beautiful one I've ever seen is at the Guggenheim in Venice. Artlady, are you going there?
Hurshy, very happy...as long as I run the show.. (just kidding!)
(sort of...)
it's my special secret 72 *tosses shiny health hair*
Haz, thanks for the du clue -- it almost got lost in all our chatter! :-)
well i believe all these things myself - that it is possible, that it takes work - it's just that it doesn't mean much to her coming from me, i've only been married 6.5 years. but if there is proof of people who ARE still happy after a long time, that would be more significant to her.
yeah but the crumbs are icky
Oh Babs, I forgot that one. We'll have to add it to the list! I have to get to Ravenna, though. Don't know how we'll fit it in. Of course, I could just go back again NEXT summer...oh, my poor husband!
so, thanks, artlady, and chic. and also i'm glad you like my icon, artlady.
I cannot believe how useless I am at this puzzle..... I can never go for more than a quarter of the total amount of words without resorting to using Licketysplit AND the Enable dictionary.....
could i have a clue for the up 7/36 pls?
Hurshy, we're still best friends (hubby and me). I told him from the beginning the only way out of tis relationship was a cold, hard slab..... and I mean it!
up7 new york - not the city
Back later -- time for a late breakfast :)
lol chic!
ANd hurshy, maybe that's part of a good marriage...allowing one another to do things that make us happy and fulfilled. Hubby's not into travel, so I've started doing it with my gal pals (since the kids are now out of the house!) I let HIM smoke cigars. Outside. Away from the house. Then he changes clothes in the garage...(just kidding about the last part)
yeah...my brain is evidently on vacation too...i even had difficulties with the sudoku puzzle of the day! :(
well i certainly have nothign to contribute to THIS conversation - LOL!
oh dear chic! that's serious. first my lil bro was my best friend, then my hubby came and took over. i married the hubby nut, now they're best friends and i'm lefts standing aside!
nut - is that your hair lying in a clump on the floor?
thank you kindly hurshy.
* gasp * - no, no, definitley not, but nuts hair serum has just been marked to half price!
yw cliffopa :)
Yes evan, that shiny, healthy hair you were just tossing around...
still can't see the du6.
ata, what say you today, list-wise? i am finding this pretty tough. 62 to go.
no artlady, mab, i'm sure you're wrong.
Not there yet Angel. Sorry.
i found this a tough one...quite a few new obscure words
Angelsong, rhymes with "tonight"
Stuck on a ta6/18 word, the one that has nothing to do with rags. Any clues?
89 to go. Have to get cleaned up and make a pot of coffee. later, all.
she's in denial. Avoid mirrors nut.
Don't worry, got it now. Think it's Scottish for a potato.
bye artlady!
how many ta 6/18s have to do with rags, i am not sure what would be considered having to do with rags
it's not denial, see * approaches mirror * - ACK!
it's okay, we'll hotglue it back on. no one will be any the wiser.
going to sort bills for a bit.
kay mab, you glue, i'll pay bills.
there, there, nut! you look like natalie portman in v for vendetta...see? or maybe yul brynner...
not a big fan of so many U's.
who are they, are they sexy, cause i'm a super sexy lady you know, wouldn't want to compromise my looks.
and we can't even get tutu or usurp
now that you mention it temple... I loved the king and I.
then again - mab i think we'll need the low temp glue gun
double-sided duct tape?
or maybe that hair in a can spray?
i'm in favor of low temp hot glue
how about mod podge? we could decoupage your lovely head.
oh yeah, lets use magazine cut outs though
Back from sudoku with hot chocolate to help finish this grid :) Hi Hurshy... how are you?!
uh - oh - i guess ants will eat anything if it's coated with sweet stuff *watches nuts shiny hair walking by*
i'm ok today mac, thank you for asking. how are you?
Doing okay here, hurshy. thanks for asking :)
NOOOOOOOO - dives upon ant infested hair - it'll go back on, really.
Hurshy - did you take your pill today? You know it's really important to take them and quite dangerous to go off them abruptly. If one chooses to go off them, they must wean themselves off
oh, thanks for reminding me, mac! i will go take it now.
mac, i keep telling hubbynut that, but he doesn't get it. then he misses a few and goes all crazy nasty.
i must go a-lunching but will be back later.
Good girl ! :)
Later hurshy.
important to take them as regularly as possible
I know, evanonut... most people don't realize the danger in going off them abruptly
oh my, but the things he would say. so mean, so unhubbynut like.
bye hurshy, hi macuser... I am going to have to take a break. both kids are home (Saturday and all) and Tom just left to help a friend move... and argh. I WILL finish the puzzle today! sometime [sigh]
ok, so what's the be 8/55?
bye hurshy, stidmama
Oh look evanout - I have some herbal hair-growing ointment left over from a nasty oven-lighting incident. Just be careful where you put it.
ooooh thanks mab, ick, smells like cat pooo.
here dear nut - let me help you with that *draws a MUSTACHE on nut*
Hi & bye, stid :)
nut, you're wanted over on sudoku :)
we're even! HAH!
oop ,brb
be 8/55 - add sp6/21. The sp word resembles a quick run (think athletics) but has the second vowel instead of the third)
sued is one of the words!
ACK! the chalker stalkers been stalker chalked by a non stalker chalker stalker.
thanx, haz! I use archaic middle English words all the time!
it is 4 o'clock in the morning and I am not getting nuts ...am I too tired?
LOL...I just found an asprin in the grid.
Good 'Noon" all of you. I have 140 and am on a cleanup mission, ie getting the words I skipped. Any help for au 5/12?
angel - you'll need it before long well everyone - have cleaned my closets and must make a run to thrift shop. happy babbling! nut - shall i see if they have any wigs? what color would you like to be?

* feels only slightly guilty as she turns them on *
ren? ren? rennie? here, rennie rennie rennie....
ren hun, we were just kidding , really.
Ren doesn't sleep. That is all.
Ginger y4 sounds like a creature that flies in the sky but change the first letter... then make it a plural for the 5
is this anyway to treat a lady?????
thanks macuser :-)
* snort! * - oops, i don't snort when i laugh, really.
i did sleep - i promise holly!
Ren, you look luverly!
you're welcome, ginger :)
of course we were, ren! *if nut offers you any cream conditioner, say no*
they got us both artlady!!!!
No. I do not believe you. You were here when I left for the night... and you were long here when I woke up... so if you did... it was like... a cat nap. :o)
true ren, no cream conditioner for you, you want nuts hair serum, half price today!
oh...meowwwwwwww...holly - you guessed it!
ren's on a one way trip to hypertension.
Yeah, look a bit foolish, don't I... rabbit rabbit rabbit
Ok, does anyone know the line that goes with that? A friend of mine always did it the 1st of the month, but she retired and I forgot it.
fyi, don't buy method all purpose grape fruit cleaner, it doesn't smell at all like grapefruit.
artlady - we must be the april fool dolls!!
Ginger the y6 is... y + the chemical symbol for gold + spanish word for aunt
I'm fairly certain they are just making that word up.
lol, HollyBug... I feel that way about a lot of these words !
You betcha, ren! (My Wisconsin upbringing strikes again...)
hear hear. I just randomly type letters that seem like they might be a word....and sometimes they are! Like the yi's!
yes - all those years of classical music, art, dancing, acting...and look at us now
the real dolly sisters after nut and t-owl finish with us!
acting? i was cinderella once in a third grade play.
my first part was as a little brown seed
how about a slippery glass cinder?
neh
so cute back then! curly blond hairs.
Ah, I had the lead in our junior class play. "The Lives and Loves of Cooper and Looper and Their Friend Who Was Squashed by a Moving Van." Seriouisly. I was awful.
But i didn't realize it, mercifully!
My make up then looked sort of like my icon...
i bet it was great art lady
Done! Gotta go now and do some housework :/ Be back later
artlady - so avante gard!!!
oooo, I just got a beautiful bouquet of flowers... I've trained him well! ;-)..
By mac. Housework....did some scrubbing yesterday. That was enuf!
ooh la la chics de clix! struggling - must put cream cheese away.
Ohh, chic. That's wonderful! It's great what you can do with some well-planned positive reinforcement...men can be so trainable!
wow choc! wonderful!!!!!
what are you doing with that cream cheese, nut?
Mm, Ren, any bagels to go with that cream cheese? I'd love one with my coffee.
choc..chic...i guess i need a choc fix!!!!!
I was thinking it, ren, but restrained myself from saying anything...
nut...any dark rye pump for that cream cheese??? and pineapple jam?
I got him young (he was 19) and I was 26...trainable age...
oh, er sorry chics, but you know how i can get monthly - cravings and all that.
that's the way we dolly sisters are artlady!however as long as nut is busy eating, the chalk is at rest!!!
uh, you mean daily, don't you, nut?
i just tried yogurt cream cheese (on a pump bagel)
yeah, i um finished about three minutes ago, cleaned up too, hmmmmm.
ummmmmmmmmmmm all i have are cheetos and a cadbury bar....
Ok, I'm an art teacher and I have NEVER used un6/36 in a sentence!
i just finished the doggie bag from last night - not enough even for a decent lunch...
cold pizza here. I think I'm sinking low!
It is always fun seeing what the women talk about when the men are away ;D Hi again to all!
ohhhh!!!!!!!! i ahve a mexican pizza left over from last ni**s taco bell run!!!!
art lady: i'm sure you use the present tense all the time - NOT!
thanks, artlady. I had been looking for that

Wellll, hheeeellllloooooo, daaaalllii, heeelllooooo dallllliiii, (your turn, ren)
What a mean joke!!!! Well I see Dr. God does have a sense of humor!!!!!!

devil made me do it!
Well, grey, that does improve the size of your snout I mean nose.
You guys gonna stop playing games and chasing each other long enough to tell me how to fix the grid? I aint got all day!!!!!!!!!!!
you're still growin' your's still crowin...you're still goin' strong...(sorry for the delay...it was nut!!!)
On another note, did you hear the sad news about the coyote in Central Park? (this is not a joke, or April fool)
what's wrong w/ the grid mama??????
when artlady? I don't remember hearing anything.
blame the devil, and no artlady, tell.
PS new icon *refresh*
Rennie - you know .... that message in it for April Fool's Day that he planted... how do you get rid of it?
i thought they caught it and put it in a zoo
Temple, they were about to let him go in a wild area and he died. They can't figure out why, he wasn't drugged and he'd seemed very calm. So sad.
GW - that's what I call a scaredy cat!
i don;t see anythign mama......OO
cute, grey
BTW, what was wrong with the grid? I didn't see anything?
real funny rennie..... you guys all know and you won't tell me..... *mamabear starts crying softly*
gotta go dance w/Kristianna -- back soon
now we are 3...3 victims of nut and t-owl....
i didn't hear that...shame. there's a rescue in NJ called popcorn park zoo, that takes in animals people are fool enough to keep. someone had two wolves in a garage in the city
GW - you'll tell me won't you??????
what!!!! what did i do???? i lost my hair, i have blue eye brows, a puple 'stash, and an orange goatee...what???
what did you do? you won't TELL ME HOW TO FIX my grid and get rid of that evil message implanted in it!
it's a good look ren, vast improvement.
Do I know you animal/people?
Mama, I have no clue what you're talking about. My grid is normal. Relatively. It's the people who aren't. What did you see???
Oh, chic, get a few flowers and you go all highbrow on us!
mama: do you mean the ad for nut's hair serum?
mama...blame it on nut and t-owl...they have the chalk...they're the chalk stalkers....nothing is safe from them
MamaB, did you try waving your mouse around it?
Ren, you DO look like a real dal i.
You guys are really good straight men/women.... ok I'll play your silly game.... it says "Watch Out For Bad News" right in the middle of the grid..... how do I get it to go away?
Mama, never had it. You're just more special than we are. sniff.
any clue for the 4th 7 please? I have an untidy one, aone that can occur when painting a ceiling or stabbing someone! and one that kids like to make on paper!
mama..that word is NUT...that is the bad news!!!
only bad news bears are getting that message....
Maybe it's set for certain browsers?? I'm using Opera right now.
* hangs head and walks away * well, guess if i'm a bad influence, the best thing i can do is... CHALK YOU ALL! * whips out blue chalk*
ginger: can you give the first letters and points? hard to tell
sorry, Ginger, you'll have to excuse the madness (it's really like this all the time!) I don't have a clue.....
my grid says: D A U A I W A T C H I O U T B F O R B A D N E W S ????????????????????????? ??????????????????
thanks for the blue hair nut...now i look like franke zappa.....
Ahhh, MamaB, turn your 'puter sideways....
thank the devil
chic - I don't think that will work........ are we just not supposed to work a grid today... is that it?
Oh Mama, that's hilarious. And frustrating.
ginger: i'll bet it's up7...not NYC but up7 new york
I have ta/7 28 pa/7 32 sp/7 32
Ginger, I only have a couple so far (7's that is). Sorry. Do you have the one for the northern part of one of the US 50?
or add to the st5/10
Artlady - yeah it's hilarious alright - HOW DO I CHANGE IT?????????????????????? C'mon - you guys are giving clues so you must have already fixed yours..... PPPLLLLLLEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSEEEEE EEEEEEEEEEEE??????
That's up 7/36.
MamaBear. Calm down. I never had a problem. You must have been a bad little bear and Dr. God is punishing you. (snicker snicker)
I don't know a lot about States LOL but I think I may work it out .. ty all!
mama...are you in a time warp??????? stomp your foot 3 times and yell...let me out of here!!!!!
poor mama, notice those letter look a little chalky?
Seriously, have you tried closing out and logging back in? That's really weird.
Ginger, it's the opposite of down.
Got it... thanks!!
Artlady - are you working the grid?
Evan, shame on you. Poor mama's feeling really frustrated. Erase those letters for her!
then mama...take a wet wipe and rub off the chalk lettes nut and t-owl put on the grid to fool you!
OMG .. sorry, I said too much!!!!
ginger said a word!!! ginger said a word!!!!
ahhhh! no one is safe today! Pranksters un5/12!
rennie - be nice.... first your mean to me and now Ginger..... you stayed up too late last nite!!!!!!!
and i at a lot of chocolate!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 ZOOM>>>ZOOM>>>ZOOM>>>>>>
rennies never mean!
Alright well then I guess I'll just have to not play today since nobody will tell me how they fixed theirs..... and I thought you guys were my friends.
Hey, don't pick on my dali buddy! Ren, let's get 'em! (grabs super-size sidewalk chalk bucket)
a little mischievous today though!
mama...make a screen shot of it and set it up as your icon so we can see it!!!
Mama, I would never drag it out this long. I never had a problem so I can't help you. I'm sorry.
At least, I never had a problem with the grid. With other things....that's another story!
MamaBear, the grid is supposed to be: DAUAI YNUTA IRDUB ETPS E WNTAT
really mama...i have not had a problem w/ the grid....honest!!!!
*mamabear ashamedly puts paws over mouth and giggles and says...... tee hee*
* winks at mama * i had your number silly girl, how else could you know its wrong!
ok...you bad bear!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bad bear bad bear...whatcha gonna do when we come for you!!!!!!
I can't find a single U word. Would someone please throw a hint or two out there? To get me started? Thanks.
harpie - un**** all together now!
un 4 = un** of measure un 5 un 4 + 2nd vowel
I love you guys...... *mamabear giggles and skips off into the forest*
aw, harp, don't be up5/14, we'll give you clues.
(as mamabear snickers and skips artlady and ren put yellow stripes down her back in chalk)
bad bear...bad bad bear!!!!!!!
big YELLOW stripes!!!!
harp, the un 4/8 is another spelling for what we wear 'neath our clothing
it's a skunk bear!
big bad skunk bear!!!!
Yeah, ren, and we were Sox fans together during the World Series last fall. SNiff. I'll never trust her again.
Stinky bear.
(I used scented chalk...not a PLEASANT scent either!!)
*Woulf comes back with pitcher of cherry Koolaid* I'm back for a bit... ((**Mama**)) Oops, I think I spilled on your fur, Mama *holds out empty pitcher* :\
such a bad bad bear!!!!! such a bad joke to play on her soxs fan friend......bad bear
Here come the ants after the cherry Koolaid!!
Watch that smelly, stripey, red, sticky bear jump and swat!
LOL now she's a yellow red bear!!!
look at those ants, i knew they could lift a lot, but an entire bear? wow!
Its made w/Splenda so it won't be too bad
I hope
Even wilder, look at them try to squeeze her down the ant hole!!!
DONE....anyone need a clue??
does anyone have any ant traps?
Oh lordy, I need lots of clues...still plugging along with 55 to go.
the ants go marching one by one.....
sorry mama, i'm an ants rights activist
Mama you look hilarious with your beary behind sticking out of that ant hole.
mama..you are the ant trap.....
LOL artlady!!!!!
GW - aren't you going to defend me???? Come to my aid???? Be my knight rider in shining armor come to rescue me from these people who are covering me in chalk making me stinky and covering me with ants?
how about the ni 5/10's?????
Well, I could introduce you to my uncle Charly.... Oh wait, he's an AUNT trap :D
Now I'm stuck on the I's? Any clues?
LOL wolfie!!!!
Oh bother.
if you need to cram for a test...sometimes you pull an all-ni5/10....then switch the last 2 letters around
OU...how about the ni 5/10's???????
thanks OU!!!!!!!!!!!
That's it, Mama -- if you cover yourself with honey, the ants will get stuck and you can go for a swim and drown 'em!
See mama, you reap what you sow. Is a female bear called a ....sow??
yes mama - the wolf is right...cover yourswelf in honey....
ANd now come the bees!!!
not killer bees i hope!
mama'ss a virtual hive for the buzzing bees
beeware if you wear bees
There may be only one solution to this hairy situation ;) evan -- where are the clippers?
ha HA.... *mamabear snickers at all your bug attacks.... I sprayed myself with RAID before coming in so HA!*
oh no.....not the clippers......
I have a question *mamabear raises her hand*
raid won't save you from the clippers mama!!!!
I hate to think about what breathing all that Raid did to you, mama.
WE have answers of course, correct answers cost extra! ;D
*calls on mamaear*
thanks Rennie, but that wasn't my question *mamabear's arm is getting tired, so she raises other arm*
en 5/14?
Yes, mama, and I don't know which kind of answer we'll feel like giving you!
can't help you harp, I'm skipping around the grid today and haven't done the e's.
en5/14...another name for the foyer in your home
i'm back, after being driven to lunch at the pizza place in a limo, lol
harp - the door
thanks OU
* holds up clippers * sorry, i was cleaning.
were you cleaning the bear nut???
'something still stinks in here'
My question is: How come you guys were playing jokes all morning and it was fun...... but when I join in, I get 1. a stripe of YELLOW STINKY chalk down my back 2. covered in RED CHERRY Kool aid (with splenda) 3. Covered in ants and squeezd into an ant hole with my buttocks exposed 4. drenched in honey 5. attacked by bees 6. AND SHAVED........... I willl consider any and all answers from the audience.
oh my, i must have missed a lot
You started it, Mama. (snicker snicker) ANd wasn't it fun?? So, how about those Sox??
....ummm....we thought we could get away with it???????
because you're an excellent mark mama!
Yes, hurshy. Mamabear got some of us really thoroughly. She should be proud. If that's something to be proud of! (lol)
hurshy...mama was a bad bear!!!!!
the risks of escalation, Mama -- I got snapped with the elastic of my mask and then a flag was tied to my tail *won't look mama in the eyes* *drags toes in dirt*
because they're just jealous (it's what my mama used to tell me when people hurt and made fun of me. don't make sense to me STILL)
Boy, it sure is fun to be totally immature!
well, i'm too full for any antics. i just want to say, if pruny isn't a word, then what are my fingers after swimming?
hurshy, i TOTALY agree. pruny is a word.
Well, we COULD get started on people who use Paris Hilton for an icon.... just kidding!
artlady -- yes it is! and especially in an environment where no physical harm can possibly happen :)
In fact, if you don't laugh enuf, your face will get all pruny!
tee hee artlady!!!!! nut?????
Well, my daughter has to write a paper for school....... and needs the computer. Thanks for playing my silly game!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!! mmmwwwwaaaahhhhhhh! BBL!!!!!! !! *mamaber scampers off shivering and hoping fur grows back quickly*
well, paris is something of a joke isn't she?
i just hope the grid isn't an april fools' joke - like there aren't really as many words as it says there are.
essence of orange pruny
Bye, mama. It's been a hoot.
ren? you rang?
hurshy - i think they're all in the lower left hand corner.....of course you see NUT is in the middle....
Hurshy - you mean your grid doesn't have a weird message hidden in the letters? *ok. i'm going now*
so long, Mama!!
Ok, 41 to go.
later mama...
mama used a word!
of course nut is in the middle, nut should always be at the center of attention.
bye mama! and bye, everyone! see you tomorrow!
bye t-owl...thanks for the eye brows......
Bye Temple!
so long Temple -- have a great day! PS I am working Lenscrafter's tomorrow, not today
actually, nut, you're a bit OFF-center...
buh, bye temple and MamaB!
by leavers
art lady, yes, yes, i've always been a bit off center.
whoa, lots of rain all of a sudden
a little on the upper crust?
ren, did you notice that i didn't lose my power after all?
what about "wentinda" as in "i wentinda house bc there was so much rain all of a sudden"
hursh -- where are you? We're supposed to be getting rain w/probably thunderstorms sometime today here in PA
yeah gw, promises promises, i've got a little rain here, but not so much as a rumble in the sky.
Oh hurshy, that was great.
my personal favorite like that is 'gazinta' as in 3 gazinta 12 four times
I thought Wentinda was maybe the Good Witch of the North-northwest.
good jethro
Half down and other half is hidden!!! :-\
i'm in CT
we rule that here - how about yuntsum - as i'm i'm having a nice salad, yuntsum
npsr....getting there.
Yes, ren, thank you. I yuntsum!
wait, that doesn't work. Oh well.
i have 3 7's and a 9 but no 8's - what do they start with?
I just found Babbles number one babbler in the grid I am sure you all found her already, but I am distracted :)
we are in the same canoe, hursh -- I was getting ready to ask myself ;)
he he he
There's a be8/50.
gidouddahere
i LOVE canoes!
au 8/50, be 8/50 and be 8/55
y'know, i really should have tried that when i got the 9. thanks vi.
i like dafts...like george raft
maybe i better watch what i'm typing...i like rafts...i'm the one who is daft!!!
What Grey? Who's babs number 1?
71 words so far.iz that good guys?
the long be's build off ta/6 and sp/7
au8/50, which I don't have
check the rankings, artlady :)
artlady -- if you ever look at the rankings, the cream o'crop # 1
au 8/50 = start with a word for the season after summer. take off teh m. add an ending that implies a mineral.
It's all good, bigword!!!
duh. Thank you. I haven't done many s's yet. r's and s's and I'm outtahere!
lovely, grigs.
i've got the long ones, it's the au/5 and the first un/6 i don't have :(
Thanks, grigs.
un 6 person who...
thanks, hurshy... i have a hard time with the "long letter, cross letter, 14th letter clues... might as well just write the word out, right?
au 5...plural of a gold Roman coin..
also, kind of like a glow about a person..diff ending.
whew!good.cause this is kinda ma first time
Good for you bigword! I think I got 20 something on my first one.
hurshy, i need teh 6/36, not the 6/21, but thanks...
bigw, you've got 11 hrs til the puzzle closes...Babble on!
i know what you mean, grigs - it's hard, you have to know your clue audience. sometimes the kids pretty much need it spelled out.
there's a 6/36? hang on while i see!
How about sp 5/14, anyone? please....
it's right after the 4/6 that sounds hawai'ian
sp 5/14 is teh plural of something you hawk up to get out of your mouth (ugh)
Welcome bigword!! Don''t forget to check out the Friends of Babble, specifically Angelsong's Babble Page - lots of excellent info for you there :)
eeewww! thanx, grigs!
wait, there's a be8/55, also
glad to help... i think.
back from dog walking!
be8/55: i be sp/5 all my money... with an extra letter after the p.
we5!
This grid is be8/55 with we5/20 words!
that one is definitely in the Ywis category!
i think it's we/5 that you don't have it, especially if you have the we/6.
the be8 that is
thanks griggs
no, grigs, i just meant that be 8/55 was we5
yeah, i got that, after <*))))>< ! now, about that ONE REMAINING WORD... rknfrkn un6/36...
i'm looking, grigs - no luck so far
grigs - if you undid some art you'd made
thanks, ata.... your dog let you come back just in time!
now i gotta go put some shoes on- there's greyhounds here that need to go walkies!
Grigs, I complained about that un 6 a while back. I teach art and I've NEVER used that word!! I say "erased"...
ata, ata, what's our goal today?
anybody need a clue before i go? (dances the done dance)
what are you on, hurshy?
i have 46 to go :(
how can you even un****? it doesn't make sense!
wish some one like nut would un**** these chalk marks!!!!!!
23 ...! You've got a few to go yet then!
which, the leasing one?
ata, i often hit ctrl-Z in photoshop to un****... but i've never done it in real life, and I have an art degree.
Maybe that un6/36 means you put a card back into the deck.
oh, plllt.
15...
no list, artlady?
oh yes, I suppose it works digitally, doesn't it? Traditionally though ... *shudder*. I couldn't ever use that word!
after you look at it right vicuna?
Good point, Vic. It's shorter than saying "I put the card back" Still doesn't make sense.
d.com says: To pull to one side, as a curtain. so it's the same as dr**.
(I'm not an art student or art teacher though, just someone who faffs around with art!)
kind of like flammable and inflammable, neh?
Just some r's and s's
No, doesn't make the least sense. I think we're all agreed on that!
(I'm another artist, and I say once you dr-- something, you dr-- it, whether you later erase it or not!)
At, do you ever say "un 6/36?" It is easier to do on the computer, but still! Of course a lot of these words are bizarre. or we 5/20.
yes, vicuna! you can't un**** it. you can erase it, scrumple it up and throw it in the bin, but not un**a* it!
11
one left...the sp 6/21 that doesn't relate to Babble rankings... Help, anyone? (I'm probably going to be sorry...it's obvious, right?)
umm, te 5/12 and te 6/18, a clue , please
sp6/21 - think of the we5 be6!
well that is odd artlady if you have be8/55
arttlady - drop the be from the 8/55
artlady, remember the be8?
so, yeah, it's a just the weensiest bit obvious ;D
*blush**blush* I knew I should keep quiet.. Thank you all, 'til tomorrow!
don't forget to wash you face artlady...
take care, artlady!
so long, artlady (*hug*)
bbl..going to take a restful sleep
Oops, thanks for the reminder ren. I may actually leave my haven of peace today...getting ready for school on Monday! Ciao!

my babble boat is listing, i think that's a sign that i should be too
does anyone have a hint for the E word that starts on the end bottom row first column please?

the prize winning en5 from publisher's clearing house could be in your hand RIGHT NOW!!
ginger: plural of a greek letter
never mind, ginger, I'm getting columns and rows mixed up today....
LOL thank you :-)
I give up. I need only one word, un 6/21 (not the one where you live free). There was reference to it, but I cant for the life of me find it in the log. Any help???? Our son is coming from Charlotte and I have to cook etc. etc.
Harpjane... I didn't have that one either so thank you :-)
Hurshy, are you anywhere near Danbury? That's where I was born and went to high school, twelve years in Germany in between.

looking for the ya/6 anyone help please?
Hi. What a great mask, gw.

I'm back! My mother needed help moving furniture and plants, so was gone longer than I anticipated... (whew) I've earned a break!
plllllllllllllllllllllllllllll t
i went to the list at 31, so it suppose there's a certain symmetry to it. but i concede utter defeat today.
Hi mab -- thanks, I couldn't find one in wolf so I settled for the cat :) (Google search is a wonderful tool)
I really don'twant to, not with so few to go, but I'm giving up hope quickly ...

ty inge i must be blind tonight i cant see the tu 4/6 either
I hit the list at 65 so qwitcherbellyachin!
i know, ata, that is how i felt a couple days ago - at that point i just COULDN'T.
tu 4/6 is one of those droppings. Deer leave them in our yard, made their first appearance today, looking for our daffodil buds....

Be careful Atalante. Hurshy nearly became a babble casualty eschewing the ist.
did i? you mean bc i missed class?
No, not because of that - didn't you lose a night's sleep due to babble? And yesterday you felt terrible?
there are like 20 words that i don't think i've seen before even in babble
oh, no mab. i had finished w/o the list in the afternoon. i lost sleep worrying about someone. it was totally not babble's fault.
Just arriving, and haven't started yet...but wanted to check, first: anyone finding april fools has hit the puzzle? I was fully expecting either an unplayable board or a list of words that don't actually exist.
ummm I don't know where Schwartzenegers homeland is!!!
Oh, I see. Well I hope things are better now. I haven't been very attuned to the grid the past few days, and even quit in the middle twice.
hello everybody
No, it is a perfectly "normal" grid, probably a little easier to take, since there are no infinite lists of any one letter like 're' or 'ma'. Enjoy!
hi shorty!
mab - i am ok today. is anything wrong at your end, is that why you have quit grids?
/schwarzenegger has a strong German accent, but comes from the other German speaking country in the EU
thanks inge :-)
I'm ok. A little more depressed recently. I've never been so unstable before, and am worried I won't ever rally.
bye, babbleland friends. I have to perform more mundane tasks like pealing potatoes for mashed potatoes. See you all tomorrow.
Bye Inge.
med status?
Hi shorty!! So long inge (*hug*)
oops, forgot the (*hug*) for you, shorty :)
My doc increase my effexor and has me taking an amino acid/b complex supplement. I am depleted of neurotransmitters he tells me.
its amazing when you step away from the computer for a while how many words jump out at you that were invisible before.
thats me finished
yay Ruthy!
poor mab. i hope things do get better. i haven't been on meds long enough to see if they work, really. only a few weeks.
just to let you know hes from Austria,Arnold Schwarzenegger
hursh -- Kirsten is reading over my shoulder -- she pointed out that it can take up to 3 months before the full effects of the meds are felt --- so don't give up on them until then :)
been there mab...it does get better. have faith in the valley
i know, they told me it can take awhile. and it doesn't help that i've missed days, i suppose.
The ta's are eluding me today
I'm sure you know this, hurshy, but if one doesn't seem to help, another will. It becomes quite a waiting game.
try not to miss days -- they take time to build up...and if you ever go off -- i promise you cold turkey isn't the way to go. when i went off i was dizy for days (the first time)
hurshy, it's worth it. you'll be amazed!
true - hursh - but missed days are not as deleterious as you may fear -- full effect may be delayed a tiny bit, but that's all :)
i am not on a very high dose.
Thank you guigirl.
OK -- cutie pie moment going on here -- My daughter who has yet to master the concept of catching is imitating what she just saw on TV and attempting to juggle :)
<hugs>
GW that is funny
Aww, adorable.
YAY ruthy!
ta7? (and don't just tell me it is a plural of the 6, pls!)
GreyWoulf, you have the cutest kids! (after my own, of course!)
no GW, it's MORE ta6
clue please for the ps5/16 and the pt6/21? Yesterday's grid did me in, I'm afraid. I'm a bobblehead today. Thanks
mab and hurshy, I take meds for panic attacks, and do stay on your meds and give them a full chance to work. It can be like coming out of a dungeon, the first day you feel "normal!"
clues for the first pa4?
GW, put a con. on the end of the ta6/18 -- the one that means shabby
thanks hursh but what about the other 6/18?
nevermind
you mean why do both words exist, GW? the first ta6 is a verb (or maybe a noun, person who makes lace?)
angelsong, if something was out of vogue, you might say it was pa*** -- remove one of the double cons.
no, I wasn't seeing it, hursh. But then my commonsense kicked in after I finished typing :)
ch1212 ps clue -- another name for alias drop onym
pt add girl's name (brockovich)
Thank you, lgorms -- got it.
hurshy, we have that one a lot, and I always seem to miss it. Thanks!
the last pa6/21?
1212 - is that a sand sculpture of jesus?
if your cheeseburger is a double it has two pa6s
pa 6/21 -- a hamburger pa****
i need help
thats me all finished
Congrats sha!!!! ****^^^^%%%%*****!!!!
Well done sha!! Samy - in what sense? Are you new to Babble?
sorry, mab just saw your message -- yes, it is an artist's depiction of course :) -- really remarkable work.
*hoping samy is not suicidal*
samy, just ask and you shall receive!
mab, refresh!
ooh! cool pic, evan!!
tx gw - going pro is the funnest thing ever.
i see nobody helps
Ain't it the truth!!
samy, you had like three offers of help
one to go, can anyone help with the su 6/24
Samy -- how can we help if you don't give specific?
Oh yes, nut! A cunning hat can make up for any shortcoming one might have in the arena of hair. (sorry for the disgusting image of an arena filled with hair)
su 6/24 - something a doctor would use to stitch you up
ty ty ty :}
tx mab, guess i should have asked for a red wig.
This really brings out your cheekbones - very chic.
any clues for au/5 please?
can anyone help with be 9 please?
re6?
be9 = be + sp7 (what bacon grease does)
Have you been getting regular meals, nut? Like, three a day?
re 6 is part of your eye
you're supposed to eat every day? * checks calendar * guess i'm due then.
thankyou GW
thank you cliff :)
evanout! drag yourself over to that refrigerator!
Yay - 16 left and dropping!
glad it helped GW
yo ppl
GW, have you unpacked your Babble resource page yet?
Hi zion :)
in 5/14?
Yes I did, Angel -- I like it alot :)
Good! I learn new skills each time I do one, GW
Yes, thank you cliffopa! I've lost my concentration (like, back in the 20th century), so if anyone trips over it let me know. Zion, you're scary.
don't think i can mab! i have to bowl, bowling is VERY important! more important than life maybe.
in5/14 - sounds like the name you would put on the basket for newly arrived bill statements ;)
Clever clue, GW :)
gotch GW - and let me guess, the next in is plural form? love those plurals.
you got it, cliff!
did someone mention my name awhile ago? 'nut, you went pro? coooool....
au/5 anyone ... pretty please??
I've never bowled, but it looks like fun. In the shape you're in, nut, you'll go flying down the lane with the ball. Well, you can never be too rich or too thin, someone with perfectly dreadful values said once.
What the heck is ni6 -- sounds like someplace that manufatures darkness?! :D
pardon the typos? Sebastian is getting wriggly :)
Or maybe an incubator for baby lice...
(The ni6, that is, not your local bowling alley, although that may also be true...)
Nice clue GW :-)
chic - WHERE have you been? i have to be pro, evanovich day is monday. mab, i've NEVER, been too thin.
when we had ni6 a couple days ago they said it was like a nightclub
I thought that one was spelled -ie at the end, though perhaps that doesn't make a difference.
i thought people were saying they were both alt spellings of the same thing
du6?
need an se4. I have the one for take a chair.
8 to go - and 6s ALL DONE!
du6 add beginning of word you just complained about :)
du+ not day
du6- an igneous rock, starts with a drab color and ends like a mineral
se4 switch last two letters
you're home free, ata!
un 6/36? please
want to say what boxes you're missing from and i'll see if i can guess which words you need?
got du 6 thnxss
un 6/36 add amateur detective nancy
un6/36 - a highly unsatisfactory word for "erased"
in a minute :) let me monket type a bit first!!
okay, heading out to throw a twelve pound ball at a bunch of defenseless wooden pins. honestly, they're safe from me.
:)
doh! I had it, didn't cross it off.. 19 to go, then a nap....
later 'nut!
chic, do you like flowers? The template I have in mind for your Babble page is floral with purple.
Bye evanout!
hello kids...how's this grid today?
angelsong, purple is my color! I love dutch irises....
*i* thought it was hard, but then again, i am stoooopid
2 to go ap5 and at6
ap5 more ap3, if we could have 3 letter words at6 clothing
GW, more short for city dwelling.....
kristi -- a few obscure or silly ones, but otherwise, not bad :) (*Hug*)
gw, your ap5 is part of a part of a book.
Hi Everyone!!!
highly unlikely hurshy :) I'll give a go anyhow, haven't finished a grid since Tuesday so I need to do one sometime!
Hello everyone -- back for my last few.
Thanks hurshy, and I am done!
at is what you are wearing at plus round rubber thing on your car
Thanks GW! Congrats on being done!
congrats, GW!
Hey all, back for my second half
congrats, GW!
10 to go - a hint for be 8/50 please?
Congrats to you GW!!!
Congrats, GW
Well done GW :)
I need the be8/50 too
Hi Nan! What's your icon? it's pretty
Be9 is Be + s7
Oh wait you want the eight *goes back to sleep*
be 8/50 add ta6
*chuckle* my sister was born in april...i could have put her picture up today if i wanted to tease her...
thanks hurshy, these be words are really stupid
thanks hurshy!
ab5/16 anyone?
Child Ab5/16 is a crime
to hurt someone repeatedly
ab 5/16 - very bad treatment
thanks everyone found the ab5
lol, i just read a story where a man in australia was fined for using a hand-held phone because he was touching the earpiece of his hands-free phone!!!
has there been a clue for the au5?
(while driving, obviously)
all i've got left is the au's....any clues?
au5 ends in 2 vowels au8 season after summer, drop the m, ends like not day...
au5 - pl of a presumably gold Roman coin au8 - a mineral that starts like the season fall - m
au5 = au + portugeuse monetary unit
aaatalante, gentil atalante, aaaatalante, how you doin' now?
I've just had a nightmare! I always work from the bottom upwards, (alphabet back to front), and had reached the b's, and happened to look to see how many words to do, and it was telling me 71! Then I realised I had lost all the s's and t's. I know I had done them. It's a mystery, or an April Fool!
dont ask lol *scowls*
je te plumerai la tete, je te plumerai la tete...
ExWren -- I have heard others complaining of similar occurences, but not on the scale you describe
exwren, did you refresh?
doing laundry bbl
Refresh and cross your fingers! At one point today it showed me my word list with only 1 word, that I had just typed, but as soon as I refreshed it gave me back all the others.
did you try refreshing the page, ex-wren?
up 5/20?
up + not wet
I hate having to scroll up and down the list, thats why I work back to front
ExWren, with that I'd just be refreshing madly and crossing all my fingers and toes--did you get it resolved?
got the au 8/50 but still not the au 5/12. what am i missing? (and why is the last one so hard?)
su4/7?
good morning all, hope your all having fun
su 4/7 like tu 4/7 instrument
Afternoon all. Good timing on the Up5/20 clue, Hurshy. That was the last "n" i needed.
au5 rhymes with a kind of eel?
Cliff -- what is the currency of ancient rome? Plural? there's your hint.
su4/7 - drop the t from the ts
we 4/8, have the gone one...
sorry, having trouble comping up with clues for that au5...
Yes, the au5 is elusive. I monkey typed it, but I can't even find a definition. Stupid vowel words.
Thanks, Hurshy
I tried refresshing, in the end I had to buckle down and do them again, thank goodness I remembered some of the words. Just 12 words to go now, I'm working on the a's
au5 - start with halo - a + two other vowels instead
we4/8, either begin of we5 (odd), or God in three persons, which we** and art and ever more shalt be...
au5= au + "A portuguese money of account, in value about one tenth of a cent." Google should fill in the blank ;)
chic-change the n in your we4 to anotheR letter
*runs screaming into chat log* waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! (I'm watching The Others on tv)... :'o
au5 reminds me of the bad guys on Stargate Atlantis
*catches babs, hugs and pats her head* there, there, we'll protect you
lol.. no the bad guys on sg-1. hallowed are the __
*hugs babbler*
thanx hurshy and kristin!
*whimpers* thank you, hurshy :' )
thanks be to my son who helped me interpret your clues! i am done done done.
see this is why i don't watch scary stuff.
thanks bsg, its been awhile since I've seen either :\
Au5 Au + a monarch's rule can be called their ***gn
Hmm. Sounds like Babbler will be sleeping with the light on tonight.
It's only a movie. Repeat with me 'it's only a move, it's only a move,' etc. Poor babs!
YAY cliffopa!!! *celebrate*
got company coming for dinner. good nite to you all. i'll be back tomorrow for more torture.
just good to know you guys are here. I couldn't watch without the chat log open..... : /
enjoy cliff!
4 to go ........
*hurshy dancing impatiently, wanting to guess what atalante needs*
Bye cliffopa. A demain.
du 6?
an A, T, R and P. 1 4 and 3 5s
du + not day
ay 4/6?
pr 5/14?
thank you! :)
ay4/6, Hebrew letter, or think of a yamg and a y--
(Oh, I guess you are not asking for clues.)
How many words and points are possible today?
if you're missing an R5, you have MISSED A PLURAL!!! FISH!
Thanks again, Hurshy
(And that was a "yang" since "yamg" seems too we5 even for Babble)
just got back (again) YAY GreyWoulf!
ts5/16?
165/2037 total for the day
thtoopid movie. didn't make sense. : /
got the ts5 :) looking for the pr one at the moment!
ta6/18 (not the one for a person who makes lace)?
be 8/ 55? :s
do you mean you got the ts when i said it, or you had it before? te 5/10, then?
just 5 to go! I need sleep... ts 5/16, please
had it before. I'm missing one from the 2nd row T. and this R. Got the P now :)
Hurshy- What's the total possible for today?
then ata, your R and T must both be plurals, how fishy of you.
Babbler, don't look out the windows, just lock all the doors.
got the R :)
ts 5/16 like tu4 instrument with s
the curtains!! the curtains!!...... waaaaaaaaaaah! lol!
165 words, 2037 points today
be 8/55 add sp6/21
thanx, hurshy!
ta 6/18 like last pa6/21
Is it just me, or did anyone else hear that strange noise coming from Babblers basement? Kind of like a "thump...drag, thump...drag"
Thanks Grey Wolf and Hurshy. I asked again because 165 didn't seem like very many.
There there, Babs - 'it's only a move, it's only a move, it's on...'
165 is an average size grid. we've had 'em small - in the 30's!
movie.
Judi!!! you meanie!!! it's only a movie, it's only a movie, it's only a movie.... :s
playwoman - there have been grids with as few as 31 words
first grid i ever played was a 44er. day before had been in the 400s, go figure.
argh! FISH NEEDED! I can't see this T!
te 5/12?
thank hurshy got it! :)
ta 5/14 - looks pl but the singular isn't a word, sorry ata, misled you there... goes at beginning of t's
shh...don't talk about a 400+ gird, then we'll get one! (that's how it works!) :)
Poor Babbler. Not to worry. It's probably just a loose shutter (or a zombie, back from the dead to join you - I mean have you for dinner).
te 5/12 + begin of hoosier state
too late. it's done now. expect a 400+ grid soon, guys. : /
Judi... :)
AHA! got it! WOOOOHOOOOOO!!
waaaaaaaaaaah!! :'( Judiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! *sobs*
thanks Hurshy!
has anyone ever had this problem before? I have pa5/12 and I'm typing in an anagram of it and it tells me that I already have that word, and I don't have it yet.
YAY Atalante!
well, at least i am good at guessing what you don't have :) CONGRATS ATALANTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!1
I wonder what the largest potential grid size is?
last ta4?
you were wonderfully good at that!
mf...refresh
You're an inspiration, Atalante! Well done!!!!!!!!!!
i knew i would be, ata, that is why i wanted you to let me do it! :)
ok, thanks.
You can have a 400+ grid next week, between Wednesday and Sunday if you like. I will be away during those days, and don't mind missing it. I'm sure you will all enjoy the challenge
GW-when we get a biggie (and I have notime to finish) I'm gonna blame you! :)
am i seeing this right there are 39 t words
By the way, I have just finished the grid, despite my setback
Oh, and Babbler, don't worry about those giant leeches. Takes them forever to slither up the steps. Just have plenty of salt handy.
only i'm sorry i misled you on that t, i scanned too quickly, saw the s, you know...
Congrats ExWren :)
ExWren...agreed. A big one for GW and others anytime between the 5th and the 12th.
Hurshy -- I'm from Canada eh? -- hoosier state?
and awfully modest too, as normal ;) *many hugs*
oh, right, sorry cnan - the country where mother teresa lived, then
hooray ExWren!
kristi - responsibility accepted, and I won't be touching it either :)
ata, did you mean to use the new sarcasm symbol in your last post? :) *hugs*
Thanks, Hurshy -- was starting with the wrong te.
Well done Ex-Wren! Also an inspiration for extraordinary bravery in the face of adversity (loss of many already entered words)!
It's quite a relief really, The last two puzzles have beaten me hollow
:'( Judi hates me..... *sobs and whimpers*
That's just it, I have to do the big ones when I see them but then I complain the whole time...I'm a passive agressive babbler or something?!?
modesty is overrated ;) proclaim one's brilliance to the world!
YAY ExWren!
babs-I'll defend you now b/c she crossed the line w/ the leeches thing-eek!
well everyone should learn my new sarcasm symbol, anyway. if you want to be sarcastic, you use the | first. eg: | hurshy is so modest
the last ta4??
last ta4 - greek letters
thanks, kristin : )
sarcasm symbol! Ha! That's the greatest thing I've heard today. cute!
my sister and i invented it bc of the difficulty of judging tone in e-communication.
Not so, Babbler. *stuffs basket full of wolfsbane, garlic, Raid, AK-47's, hazmat suit, mosquito netting, holy water, kosher salt and a rabbit's foot and hands it to Babbler* That ought to fix things right up for you!
I hurshy's sarcasm symbol sucks
I like that idea! Except I'd be using it in front of nearly every sentence ...
lol judi, lol leslie, lol lol lol
dr 5/ 18? :s *im useless today!*
hurshy, no...that's true. I write how I talk (can get me into trouble sometime).
dr 5/18 a wood nymph
a true goodwill offering Judi
please, i'm beggin' te 6/21 last te 5/10 drivin' me nutso...
te 6/21 pl te 5/10 add vowel to prev te4

thanks hursy! i dunno how i didnt get that, I was one in a school play once! :s
Hello All Have one word left su6/24 even took dogs for a walk thinking I would see it when I came back but no such luck help me please
...that's because she's holding it behind her back!! look out babbler!
su 6/24 medical stitch
LOL Mab!!! thanks for the weapons of mass destruction, Judi! :D Now I know you love me!
any clue I gave you would be a stitch up, speedfreak
thanx, hurshy, taking the fish and taking a nap now! See ya at the flip!
Hurshy, holy water is just as good as a wooden stake. Who wants to do all that messy stabbing when you can just lightly sprinkle?
WOW What a Dummy!!!! The minute I looked again saw it right away Thank you, you guys are the greatest!!! Enjoy your saturday!!!
better for venting frustration though
Well done chic. Later.
ya 6?
ya6 = y + country of the von trapps - s - r
Also, a wooden stake is effective against non supernatural foes as well and doesn't run out of ammo :)
*hurshy adds gift certificate to karate school to babbler's basket o' defense*
37 words left... they must be obscure ones!
I'm done... not as easy as I had hoped.
thank you .......... pt6?
clues for any 'i' words from the I in the 1st column anyone?
oooh! thanks hurshy!! I've been thinking about martial arts!! (I'm a Buffy wannabe) : )
be9?
pt6 add ms. brockovich
dr 5/18: a tree-dwelling spirit; not wet + opposite of substract - d
Okay, just to be completely thorough: *fills yet another basket with: six-pack of finest wooden stakes made of sturdy oak, flame thrower, silver bullets for the AK-47, lucky horseshoe, lucky penny, taser, pepper spray, nunchuks, ninja stars and one pitcher of martinis (shaken not stirred).
in + about to arrive (and then plural) in + midge *** (pop star guy)
be 9: be + sp7/32
*Woulf adds some cold iron and some pure silver to the monster fighting kit*
in5 - in + you don't want your bills to be over*** in6 - pl in5 - to protect against by toughening
Hurshy, what would I do without you .... thanks!
Here Babs, my brass knuckles. No, no, I insist. And you can keep them as I have several.
stidmama offers some four-leaf clovers for monster-avoiding. and some chocolate. and some fresh garlic from the garden.
Judi -- make one of the stake rowan wood tied w/red thread, and one of olive wood as well
thanks Hurshy :)
Totaly grey --- hurrah! Thankyou, Hurdhy!
um... how is babs going to carry all of this??
has anyone added a flashlight for monster kit? i have an extra...
stidmama provides pack dog to carry monster kit
lol leslie! *hurshy promptly donates antigrav cart for basket transportation*
We'll have to hore a henchman to carry the stuff -- I'll call the local guildhouse and check on availability ;)
dog, antigrav cart, which will she choose? (antigrav cart doesn't need food...)
*hands over a light sabre*
oops - hire , not hore!
haha... gw is a henchman pimp
dog can also spot were-cats and fight...
gw i heard it's hard out there for a pimp. is this true?
Lol, Greywolfe. Freudian slip!
how can dog fight if weighted down with stuff? best to use cart for transport, save dog for fighting.
I was a fan of Ultravox! ;)
LOL-leslieann-that sounds FANTASTIC taken out of context!
okay, dog can carry its own food then and still stay ready for action
well, with monsters eating your stable every night, replacements get hard to find...:)
Off to my sewing -- back at the flip -- thanks again, Hurshy!
bye nan! See you at the flip!
so long cybernan!
bye cnan! yw!
*finds sp7* Oh! Thanks for the be9 clue Stidmama!

by atalante!
bye Atalante
bye atalante *hugs*

bye everyone! have fun!!
We forgot to put flares in the kit! We have to have flares and a flare gun!!
now if only GW had slipped and said "buy atalante..."
HAH! Hurshy...:)
I don't trade in friends, hurshy
I think I'll go read a book for a while... there's one that's due back at the library soon. Later, all!
Buh-bye, Atalante. Shoots flare in Atalante's honor.
which one stidmama?
yeah, but, you know, the pimp thing...
wow I've gotten 32 words w/o looking at the list woohoo
bye Stidmama...enjoy your book
Oh the last "Wings of Merlin" book by TA Barron. "young adult" fantasy, our 11 year old and I have been reading them together, but he finished ahead of me!
I have been meaning to check those out -- I am so looking forward to when my kids are reasy for the YA stuff. There is so much more quality FAntasy and SF for for young adults now thatn when I was growing up :D
good job Shorty!
ty
Oh, GreyW, there's so many great books that I remember reading at that age. Loved "A Wind in the Door" by Madeline L'Engle and "Milo and the Magic Tollbooth" (can't remember author).
you mean the phantom tollbooth, judi? norton juster?
Yes, Hurshy. Sorry. Obviously it's been a while. Duh.
35
Pr5/14 anyone?
Judi -- I read those but, if you look at the shelves today, compared to 20 years ago, the F&SF offering today are soooo much higher quality.
Very true, GreyW. I think Harry Potter raised the bar for everyone.
pr 5/14 add mormon state - h
hey hurshy? I want some chocolate...somethin' awful! ; )
:) well then, here you go, lola, would you prefer cadbury mini eggs or nestle crunch?
I have to choose?!?! : (
no, of course not, how silly of me, have some of each :)
aww, thanks mate! : )

no, loly, we started back this week pt6 add ms brockovich
OK, I have to go and deal with the real world -- groceries and other stuff. :( I have started a new thread in the Other Interests forum of the EZ Board -- it is to design the ultimate monster fighting kit. Right now it only lists the stuff already mentioned here in the log. But I am sure we will be able to expand on it, as well as periodically strip out the redundant items. I will see you tomorrow (((**Hugs**)) for all :)

Seattle-we usually have it all. That's why I feel especially uncool now! :)
Sheryl, thanks, never heard of that un6 word, Also never heard of the underwear store you mentioned. I always buy my underwear on sale and not in a pricey store :)
La Senza is great. I always wait for the sales though. I love their pyjamas. Very well cut and wear and wash well. :)
suprised it's not in the states, most things in canada come from the states, lol

kris your cat icon looks soooooo much like my cat i just lost a few months ago, adorable
did you get the tw clue peri?
It's nice. I'm sure it would be more impressive if I didn't live here if you know what I mean. I'm still a small town girl at heart (been hear about 1 1/2 years). Downtown is amazing the the diversity is really great too! So, yes, though not always my thing, it is a great place...expensive but still great.
does anyone play any other on line word games anywhere else that i can try out. Tried sudoko this morning but after 5 mins i had a headache and had to give up, lol
sheryl-sorry to remind you of your old kitty (mine's in trouble today if that means anything...bad boy)
there's eight1, sheryl... if you google it you'll find it
be8/55 please
thats what i have heard about it, lots of green space down town and a diverse population with pretty open ideals, kindaa like canada, lol
boo boo was very old, 17 so it was understandable, and sometimes she was a real pain, a yowler at all times. Early sat mornings if i wasn't up to fill the bowl the whole house knew it.
sheryl, my husband went to college in Canada--two different worlds he says (at least Alberta vs. Seattle) Were in Canada are you from?

Yes, Sheryl, got the tw clue, thanks, was checking on my dinner in the oven, roasting a chicken. Will be back later. It smells good and I am hungry.

thats exactly what we do head in to the city to play and come home to live

yes i see i thought for a moment you meant write out the grid ....
jeffer, do you get where i'm coming from
hi all au8/50 anyone?
i do that as well sometimes, if i walk away from the computer, then look at the written down one a while later, the words just appear, usually really easy ones

GOT it thanks reb and stoningtoncat
many thanks, Reb - got it.
stoningtoncat, I've sounded out a few (and found words I didn't know), but things like du "6/24" continue to baffle me.
Acohn, take a look at the list of links on the right and go to Lickety's Babble clues. It will make more sense then. this is the first time I made it so far, and it was all due to that page.
and Babbler's anonoymus---stats
andy -- you're here! I finished earlier and just put down the book I wanted to finish. Anyone want clues?
be/55 please
what is du 24
YAY rebekb! just saw you finished.
yes!
be 55 = be + sp 6/21; be + to run quickly for a short distance with a different vowel
hi stoningtoncat du 24: a mineral, I think; du + ni4/4
ty stidmama
stid------thanks
be + a fast race, but with a change to the middle letter.
stonington, do you still need the tw?
need---tw
tw: an unflattering nickname for a pestery young person; tw + wyatt **** - a plural for the tw 6
tw5 -- disparaging name for a little guy -- typically used by jocks in reference to nerds -- plural for 6
Hi GW!
thanks for - tw -got it
Hi folks, just passing by when I saw stidmama seemingly on her own -- couldn't keep going with out stopping to give a hand :)
((*stidmama*))
not on my own -- andy and rebek (and others I am sure) are here. Did the monster kit get finished earlier? Sorry I had to dash...
I have 4 left, any help for pt 6/21?
hi gw
pt is an unfair word... pt + ancient name for ireland
monster kit is now a work in progress -- anyone can contribute over on the EZ board -- you don't have to be registered to add a reply -- I have added the request that people explain why a particular item is in the list. I am gonna go back and give the rationale for the current items over the course of the next few days :)
thanks!
Hey andy! (*Hug*)
sidra, yw. EZ board? yes, I am still a newbie!
gw how are kids?
any thoughts for PR and PS?
okay Andy and Reb...I started giving clues about an hour ago and then got a phone call...so sorry. Did you get everything you need? I see new friends here now too so I'm sure you're in good hands.
ps is the beginning of a fake name an author uses
pr: pr + last real vowel + cross letter + first vowel...
Kids are doing fine, andy -- Seb still gets fussy during the day which can be tiring, but the nights are a bit easier -- he tends to go to sleep around 10ish and sleep til 4, but then he waits til after 5 to go back to sleep again
hi kristinc!
hey again, kristi!
hey gw it took 3.5 years for our firstborn to sleep through the nite :-)
ty sidra got it
while I took a nap this afternoon, tom and our younger son made chocolate cookies... yum!
thxs stid got it .. whatever it is LOL
stidmama -- Babblers Anonymous is part of the EZ Board - I think it is the name of the host for the board -- when you click on the link, you will see the other topics -- hit the Other Interests topic to find the monster fighting kit thread :)
*smile* I am uncertain of the meaning of at least 2/3 of the words today...
hiya GW! Back to chat?
Okay, thanks GW!
stidmama - Kirsten made cookies yesterday! Do you know the trick of using bread flour instead of general purpose to get chewier cookies?
what's the count, andy, stonington?
40 to go, mostly shorter ones, got 9 and all 8's
no, didn't know that trick. I avoid wheat (mild allergy), but will try to find something to approximate cake flour! I love chewy cookies!
GW-tell Kirsten that sounds like an excellent idea...will do the next time we bake
fighting with last pu 4/7
Yes I am, kristi -- not sleepy yet and nothing else to do, though I am considering watching the rest of "Time Bandits" -- I haven't actually seen it in its entirety since it originally opened in theaters :)
good for you andy -- pu 4/7 take the pu 4/8 and make a common error young children have when forming the letter "b"
ugh...I'm not sleepy either and with silly daylight savings time I should really be in bed. My husband is a pastor so Sunday is a busy day in our house!
Food Network is a wonderful channel!! Personal Favourite Program -- Good EAts with Alton Brown
"time bandits"-tv or movie? I'm not up on a lot of media stuff...too busy babbling away usually
THANKS stidmama you are gr8t
we don't get Food Network... which is probably best, since I really like food! kristinc, did you ever try chamomile tea with honey and milk to help you sleep? Works like a charm for me!
Time Bandits -- the one with John Cleese and (was it Terry Gilliam as producer?)... i love that film!
re 6/10 pls?
BRB, bedtime for the bozo!
no Stid and I'm going to need to get creative as sleeping gets harder so I think I'll go loot around the kitchen for minute.
andy---sounds like bubbles in the laubdry
andy---laundry
stoningcat thanks but really don't get it (and yes I do laundry too LOL)
andy -- I was blessed with Kristianna making it through the night by 3 months -- due to Kirsten working 3rd shift as a LPN at the Vet's Home, she would be in her crib at 10ish, sleep until 6 AMish, I would change her diaper and feed her, and she would be back asleep within 45 mins. Seb seems to be reluctant to follow in his sisters footsteps completely, but I will take what I can get!
andy...which one? re 6/10?
yes re 6/10 thanks
re 6/10: the back of youreyeball that focuses the light just before it hits the optic nerve
what are the bubbles? and remove the S
Time bandits is on Showtime -- it is a free preview weekend for me and I am watching it On Demand
hey GW you are blessed may they progress same way into puberty
ahh...re 6/18. I didn't show a 6/10
Oh, I would vote for Time Bandit watching myself... with a plate of cookies!
GW-cable speak...no wonder I didn't know :) (we have a network only budget in our house!)
got re 6 THANKS ALL how dumab I am - jsut got re* scan recently *crying softly * LOL
but with good shows, sometimes I wish it was otherwise...oh well, rental it is ;)
andy --or sounds like another word for potatoes and remove the s
it's okay andy.... (hug) what next?
stid thanks let me organize myself 34 to go now
need--both ry
Kristi -- I should be network only, but the only thing we watch on network is local news, Sesame Street, and Clifford the Big REd Dog -- I am waiting for the day I can pick the 20 or so channels that I want to watch and pay just for those :)
ry 4/7: the skin of an orange, spelled with the sometimes vowel ry 5: plural
andy - I work for Lenscrafter's and had to ask for it, so don't be too hard on yourself :D
thanks got the RYs
GW-it is not far away. I heard that is a new option the Feds are pushing for. We'd do it then too--discovery channel, history channel, food network. That'd do me.
thanks for consolation GW - I've been getting all my glasses in Lens since at least 15 year ago
pt??
OK, let me focus to help with clues instead of babbling away -- let's get folks finished! *rolls up nonexistant sleeves on t-shirt, and stares at the screen, expectantly, fingers poised*
andy, I feel I ought to scold you for staying up so late... don't you have a big trip ahead of you? don't you need your sleep?
pt + ancient name for ireland (which is also a girl's name)
pt = p + woman's name associated with Ireland
okay, Im ready to give clues to but I'll warn you, I'm not as fast as GW
you are right stid but wilt 30 to go I MUST TRY and wil lseep on plane LOL AND THANKS
oops - meant pt +
Hello!!
stid--- try again
GW, are you mind reading again? [puts up brain blockers made of aluminum]
kristi -- you never know -- I may get a cookie craving and wander away ;)
au5/12?
gromit! hi!
stidmama -- I'll never tell, but don't add the brain blocker to the monster kit -- they never work ;)
au+re 4/4 minus n
Hi stid, andy, GW!
au 5/12: au + letter before s + second and third vowels
pt -- rhymes with the name for an inhabitant of Terra
Hey gromit -- how goes the hunt?
pt + second vowel, plus letter before s + opposite of "out"
Fiannly got the pt ---- go braun???
*popping out for a cookie*
whatever that is
cookies...where?!?
su 6/24 anyone please?
mmph. in my mouth, yum...
