New grid!
Hello, Babblers all!
flip-y goodness
hi JB!
hey, stid!
Whoo hoo, I got first post tonight! and 54 words left to do on the last grid :(
whoo -- what happened? just a busy day? it was a big grid to finish...
flipski
waiting to see how many words before I start --- busy day tomorrow!
189 not too bad
203 words, nan!
It was a big 'un, and I started late, only 3 hours intermittent playing.
Heheh, I should look at the *correct* spot on my stats. 203 words... >.<
CA10/77!!
well, that's not bad for three hours here'n'there1
mrp! not a 10-letter word! I can't take it!
hey stid! it is an easy one... runs of the salad...
mrp, ??? salad???
yes... a ca**** salad with anchovies and bacon... parmesan cheese... not how you would normally give birth unless there was a problem???
CAN ANYBODY HELP IM ONLY 7
wow, mrp! I don't think I would have found that one by my self... thank you (humbly prostrates self before wise sage mrp)
Thanks, MrP! Definitely would not have gotten that. *joins stidmama*
you are all welcome! (remember it is also the 9)
What help do you need, Svet?
:-) miscounted the letters the first time, got the 9 before the 10
yup, did get the nine, once I had the ten! :-) also got the six...
ca7/44 se7/28 ca7/32
ca7/44 is the decanted wines that go with the salad!
DONT WORRY MY MISTAKE
mrp -- why don't you like brussel sprouts? I don't either, but my mother loves them!
HA****
oh stidman..! that is a long story. we had the kids in the supermarket in the fruit and vege section and my husband holds up a brussel sprout to my babies (1 & 2 years old) and says very loudly "YUCKY... YUCKY!!" to the horror of the grandmas and other parents in the vege section!!!
oh, that's funny! I actually tried to grow them once, so my mother could have fresh ones, but I guess they knew I didn't like them, and not one grew -- out of the 30 or so I planted!
RA**
mmm... brussel sprouts... actually do like them, myself. I do worry whether Liv will have my strange love of all fruits and veggies or not. Her father will only eat veggies if he can't avoid them in a dish.
our kids didn't have a choice... we were vegan the first few years, then vegetarian until a couple years ago.
my 8 year old daughter is a sef-professed vegetarian... she never liked meat or dairy and eats everything else but! She is also the tallest girl her year 3 class!!
Hi svet -- welcome. Start with one letter and try to spell words going out in every direction from that letter.
One of the words I entered showed up 3 times ... in the points column it looks like this: badbad badbadbad ba dbadbadbad I think I broke babble. Oops.
According to my parents, when my sibs and I were young, our grandparents were always trying to feed us sweets when we came over, so they instituted a healthy snack requirement at the grandparent's house. I learned to love veggies very quickly
turned out that after being sick with "allergies" most of my life, that I was actually allergic to anything from a cow... got really bad when I was waiting for our first child, and made all kinds of things unpalatable. For a few years, I couldn't stand anything from any living thing! Still can't eat land animals, and dairy is dangerous, but can eat fish and eggs again, for which I am grateful.
oh, caloli, how could you?!? actually, just try refreshing your screen -- that usually works :-)
gotta go for now! bye all & enjoy... :)
good night, MrP!
never heard of that salad and drawing a blank!
later mrp -- thanks! and hi to Lickety...
aha, the refresh worked. thanks,stid!
bye mrp
yw... nan -- it's also a way to give birth by surgery...
the c10 is also a type of surgical birth
think roman emperor!
I have 96 words left -- knutmeg, how are you doing? JB?
et tu brute?
gee ... the first word I saw (jumped right out at me) might be a subliminal message. ca4/9 - something delicious and sweet with lots of sugar. Pretty unhealthy, but so yummy - especially if it's of the 'mud' variety.
ha! that was one of my first words tonight also! did you get the last name of the man who played the Skipper on Gilligan's Island?
ty stid & knut
that was also one of my first words, cal :-) Mmmm... nummy c4/9...
I think I'll have to check out imdb for that one ... I haven't watched Gilligan's Island (I'm turning 30 soon, and I don't live in the US so I've never had the chance to watch reruns).
got the 6, 9 and 10 -- is there a 7 derivative?
no, there isn't
I got the surname (thankyouverymuch, imdb.com) - sounds like a type of storm which pelts small balls of ice?
that's the one :-)
excellent - thanks!
ooh, it can also be a plural.
yes, it does sound like a typical spring thunderstorm in the midwest! don't forget plurals, also where are you, caloli?
I'm in Australia.
I've only been babbling for a few days but I'm thinking of upgrading to pro, just for the pics and icons.
oh -- that's where mrp and Lickety are! there are some others, too... so you're experiencing autumn while we have spring! hope the recent cyclones have been far from your home!
Oh, the cyclones were dreadful - we're a LONG way from them, thank goodness, but our weather was still affected. I live in NSW.
i think being pro is kinda cool, mostly because it supports dr. god... but I also like having the stats panel (now that I know how to use it)
I took a look at the sample stats panel and had no clue how to decipher it! I'll have to find a tutorial when I sign up!
oh, okay, Botany Bay and Sydney and all that! the coolest thing about the stats panel is it shows you how many times each letter in the grid is used to begin a word... when you've got all those words, the entire letter in the stats panel goes gray so you know not to start from there anymore!
I caved to the pro version for the stats panel, and the icon. I find that the stats panel helps me stay away from the 2 letter lists longer. I think I hit 100 yesterday before I flipped to lickety's site
caloli -- the white squares under each letter show how many words you have beginning with that letter. The number in the grey square shows how many words in the grid begin with that letter
Yes, I was in Sydney last week (my brother lives there). I live a few hours away from Sydney in the mountains, so it gets much colder here.
with the stats panel and the hints here, I have managed once (only) to avoid the lists altogether!
I'll definitely have to sign up for it! It sounds good.
excellent, stid! I have yet to do that, but halfway on a 200+ word list definitely is my best. I figure in another week or so, I'll be able to finish some of the easier grids with clues and stats alone. :-) Its a goal to work towards...
I don't know much about Australia -- the pictures we always see show orange desert sands, or beaches and reefs... I suppose there have to be a few places that are green and cool and rainy?
90 to go -- good night all :)
good night, nan! pleasant dreams!
g'night nan!
Oh, there are definitely some green, rainy parts. I live in one of the greenest - no red sands here! My hubby grew up in the outback though (a place called 'Broken Hill' - if you've seen the movie The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert you'll know it). The beaches here really are great - we live about 2 hours from the beach, so we go camping a lot. We spent our honeymoon (nearly 10 years ago) doing a waterfall and rainforest tour. Gorgeous stuff.
i think nan has a good idea! I also have 90 words to go... good night, all, ((hugs)) and a kiss for Liv...
Bye for now, nan.
:-) G'night Stid, she has been kissed for you!
Good night, Stid!
caloli, I can see I should do a bit more research... hope to see you again when I log back on. :-) have a lovely evening!
Thanks Stid :) Sweet dreams!
the spelling on the 10 has me so stumped
hi all. how is it that "fest" is not a word??
kimberblue - try the British way of spelling it (don't drop the a)
I wondered the same thing,Twinkle
kimber- multiple surgical births, lots of first and second vowels, actually looks like its spelled phenetically
ca 10- romaine salad / c-section
Thanks, Kimber. I've never gotten at 77 point word before
is the ca 6/21 the start of it?
yes
yes
yes
oh my- i was going at it from the wrong ca!
whoops! but you have it now?
that has happened to me plenty of times!
yes- thanks!
silly question - how many words are there today? I should check these things earlier!
203 words, cal. yay, kimber!
oh, I've got a LONG way to go. I've only got 58 so far.
but you've plenty of time, cal. :-)
That's right! Weekends I can spend more time on them. During the week I've usually only got an hour in the afternoon after work. Now *that's* a challenge!!
I bet that'll be me when I go back to work. This maternity leave thing has me spoiled. I've plenty of time, and I can play while feeding Liv
I loved being home when my boys were babies! How old is Liv?
She'll be 3 weeks old on Monday
awww, how precious! One of my best friends had a baby 2 weeks ago - she's Lily. I have an Oliver (we call him Oli but some of his friends call him Lev).
Amusingly, my best friend's daughter's name is Vivian, and she goes by Viv. So, the girls are Viv and Liv, and only 18 months apart in age. Coincidence, but cute.
Liv and Viv! How cute! I have a friend who has Amelia and William - shortened to Milly and Willy, Mill and Will or Mills and Wills. Not intentional, but still funny.
Is Liv your first baby?
:-) I think the most interesting naming scheme I've run into is my cousins' names. Their last name is St. Angel and the boys are named after archangels.
Yeah, she's my first. :-)
Now that's cool!!
We went for a theme too, but it's not obvious. Our first son is Callum (it means 'dove') and second is Oliver (which means - as you'd know - olive branch) so we've got that symbolism thing happening. DH has a tattoo of it.
:-) If we have a boy for our next he'll be Alexander, and we'll call him Xander. Their initials will be X and O. Kiss and Hug. That's about as theme-y as we'll get.
I want another baby!!
Oddly, after a really rough pregnancy, and torturous last month, I still say I want another. BUT, before we get pregnant again, I've a few stipulations. Mostly, to get my back and stomach in shape.
X and O is a fantastic theme!!! I love it!
The last month of pregnancy is just hell. I had an awful time too (pubic symphysis). I'm happy to cuddle the babies of other people - I've got my two precious boys and the baby factory is closed for business.
My cousin has a theme too - her boys start with A and Z. They send out their Christmas letter with the title 'Our year from A to Z'.
my pregnancies were hard as well- pre-eclampsia with both- but I would take another- but we are done as well as we are not getting any younger!
I was in labor literally for three weeks. Prodromal labor. Can't be stopped without drugs, but doesn't progress anything. I was in and out of the hospital. They finally induced me a week after my due date.
i also went right back to shape with my first- and i'm not talking about the second!
I am a doula- I LOVE it!
I had the same thing with my first!!! It was absolutely torture. But the second time I didn't have a single twinge until real labour started. Being overdue is the pits.
I'd love to be a doula too, but there's no demand for it in Australia. Our health/maternity care system is very different to the USA's.
as it should be- ours is the pits!
Counting my strange and lucky stars. I lost 15 pounds throughout the pregnancy, so after I had the baby, I fit into my pre-pregnancy clothes immediately, and some of them fit better than they did before I was pregnant. I'm overweight, so the doctor wasn't overly worried. That and Liv was growing perfectly, so the weight loss wasn't affecting her
I don't really have the right to judge since I don't live in the US, but from what I hear and see, I think you're right.
I struggled to put on weight while I was pregnant - I'm right in the middle of the healthy weight range, but I just couldn't gain weight. At 25 weeks I was still wearing my normal jeans with my first. I ended up starting to gain weight at 30 weeks (and he was over 8 pounds). I gained 8 pounds by 40 weeks with my second. But my doctor wasn't worried either - she knew I was eating a really healthy diet and that the baby was growing well. But congrats on your weight loss!! Isn't it a fantastic feeling.
It is wondeful. I put on a shirt today that I couldn't wear before I got pregnant because it emphasized my weight, and my husband was very pleased with the results, as was I. I want to shout and cheer because I've never had this big of a result when I have tried to lose weight. However, all my girlfriends have had babies recently and all that bragging would be very bad form. Especially since none of them are in their pre-pregnancy clothes yet,a nd they all had their babies before me by months.
I've always wondered, what's the difference between a doula and a midwife? Or is there?
i cant believe it wont allow laska
There's nothing wrong with being happy and proud of it! But yes, I know what you mean. I was always very slim (bordering on too skinny) while I was breastfeeding, but I gained weight after they weaned. I wish I could have nursed forever ;)
A midwife has medical training to be able to deliver a baby independently ... a doula is a support person who has medical training but isn't intended to deliver the baby. A doula is more a support person for the parents, while a midwife is more into birth support.
a mid wife actually delivers the baby and is a medical professional- a doula supports a woman in labor, without the medical side- depending what country you are from they are beneficial!
Thanks! My husband and I are talking about using a midwife for the next baby if there ever is one. :) We had two very successful pregnancies and births w/out drugs, so I think I can do it.
And speaking of baby, mine is up. I'm gonna put the puzzle away for the night. As soon as I'm done nursing her, I'm gonna wake her daddy and have him take over. Goodnight all!! It was great chatting with you!
here is the US, you see your Dr. the last 5 minutes of labor and a nurse every so often- a doula stays with the mother through the entire labor.
Goodnight, sweet dreams ... give that sweet girl's head a big sniff for me (anybody else LOVE the smell of a new baby's head???)
goodnight
I'd better go too ... it's nearly dinner time here and the kids are clamouring for food.
wassup - you would love the mid-wives then. they try to be very non-invasive and let birth progress naturally!
Oh yeah, my sister's baby smells so good I occasionally take a nibble. I truly think she's edible. It makes her laugh too.
Night caloli, it's 11:49 pm here and you're going to have dinner. Man that's wierd.
Time zones freak me out.
it's 2 am here- i'm heading to bed as well! g night all!
Kimber, thanks for the info. I am definitely going to look into that if I am ever pregnant again. I want one, but the hubby is too logical... $, space, starting all over...etc. I don't care, I want a baby! :)
Night Kimber. I'm hitting the hay too.
we have 2 as well- and my husband says the same- and I want more!
Well, hopefully we'll both get our way. :)
good afternoon all

Technically that's morning. But humanwise you should in bed ;)
morning all
it's curious that le 5/14 is considered a valid word
morning katie
It seems to help to try and find words starting at a given letter, because then I see all the words that don't start at the letter. Got that?
Douglas, that is because it is also alt. spelling for the double e version. Indeed the rest of the meanings are of capitalized words.
Makes perfect sense to me.
When all around my soul gives way He then is all my hope and st 4/6
I must agree, especially because I just found the 10/9 combo.
im done

I dont suppose anyone has clues for the sk5/18? It is really stumping me
Leland Sklar is a well-known session musician, but I don't think that's what they have in mind...
All those gaelic words... It's a double-edged dagger formerly used in Ireland and Scotland. And its plural.
I think I will take Sprite's wise suggestion and go to bed now. Have fun everybody
It's monkey typing time!
Welterusten zas :)
any clues on the ca 9 and 10?
ca 5/16 is a shortened form...I didn't expect it to be accepted
Birth with knives.
Why Macduff was able to harm Macbeth, even though the witches said "No man of woman born shall harm Macbeth..."

I'd like to think I have a good vocabulary, but I don't get any of the k's yet.
Plural of Al4/7 hebrew letter.

Ka5/6: measure(s) of the purity of gold Ka4/5: pile(s) of rocks, alt. spelling Ke4: brownish-green mountain-dwelling New Zealand parrots Ke4: smoking materials, such as Indian hemp, used especially in the Maghreb, or the euphoria caused by smoking them Ky4: cocoanut fiber, or the cordage made from it. Sounds like what seagulls say. Ky4/5: Myanmar currency + plural. Rhymes with the gold K-word.
Done, bye and happy hunting.

I'm here too, but only for a few minutes!
hiya everyone! just finished sudoku so have came to babble now! what todays icon theme?
hi haz!
Good morning - it's bright and sunny here but still SO cold. How's the grid today?
atlante, i've noticed the chatting is very slim around this time every day. gets lonely sometimes.
hi haz, hi bex :) i'm finding lots of words all by myself today.
there's usually a *few* people around though. Like Haz :) And it was sunny here ... now its cloudy and grey. and I havent ventured outside yet to test the coldness!
greek mythology, bex
oh dear i thnik if i cant find a nice one kermit will be back! :)
i'm trying to get as many as possible in the next hour. i am having lots of people over today (going away party for my son) and i still have 10+ chores on my list.
ok curmit has arrived! i didnt like any of the greek mythology pictures on google!
Have you noticed how the cl5/12 and cr5/12 are complete opposites of each other?
bex, i picked the sphinx. she ate anyone who did not give the correct answer (to her riddles)
good one haz!
and I've got Selene and Endymion - the Goddess of the Moon and her lover
A bit like Anne Robinson on the Weakest Link?
lol haz. a perfect example.
but which was fiercer?
I wouldn't like to come up against either of them! Have to go now but will be back later. Happy hunting.
I suppose ANne Robinson isnt officially allowed to disembowel you at least
so why are you on at this time of the day, Cliff, with the UK babbler contingent? I'm just being nosey
well, it is now just after 7 am here. i get up at about 6 am every day. i'm addicted to babble and like to get an early start. (plus i like the people 'across the pond' :) enough info or too much?
Good morning. Thanks for all the k's Sprite. I have a question for you. What exactly is it that you hear seagulls saying?(-:
morning eva.
Hi all! Looks like an interesting one today. How many are we searching for?
Morning cliff. A beautiful one here. Is it there too?
gorgeous. which will be great for our party. maybe we can even use the picinic table today.
oh true. I keep forgetting that the east coast isnt so far away from us in hours ... (all my US friends are in CA)
well, if you ever need a friend on the east coast let me know. we're a bit different tho.
different in a good way or bad way? :P
I usually sign on between 5 and 6 am here. It takes a while before most of the rest of the US clan speaks up.
I'm eager to see what you say about the east/west thing cliff.
I like early morning babbling. I get up about 6, drag the dog round the fields, get a cup of tea, and log onto babble
anyone help with the 9 and 10 today? someone gave a clue earlier but i didnt understand it
bex - a non-natural way to have a baby (plus plural)
i find that not everyone on the east coast is as open minded as those on the west. in the north we are not very well integrated above massachusetts. i'm not exactly happy with the situation because i was raised by open minded worldly people.
9 *********section
From my very limited experience - I've been to Rhode Island, New York, California and Oregon - so probably not a very good sample - I've found that the E coast is much more traditional. Going to Newport, RI was like being back in England. CA is very do as you please, but Oregon again seems to be more traditional. Is there still a north-south divide in the US, do you think?
thanks atlante! thats what i thought it was but i just couldnt work out how to spell it!
i feel very strongly there is still a north south divide. when i travel south i have to be more careful of my conversation. (i am not a conservative republican)
I would love to go to the south, because it does seem so different, and I like learning about places. Hopefully in a few weeks, I'll end up in Washington as well - going to CA and Oregon but I think we're going to drive up into Washington for a while
DC is a wonderful place - so many things to see. Washington state is beautiful! i spent a week there during my honeymoon. the mts are spectacular, the pacific rainforest was amazing, mt st helens is beautiful in a scary way. you can drive up to a point on mt rainier (?) where you feel as tho you are on top of the world. and everyone we met was friendly and laid-back.
got the 9 & 10 no problem but I need help with the 7's got ca7 anyone know the other 2?
I can't wait to see Mt St Helens - it has a very special place in my heart (sounds strange I know). When I was young I had the most wonderful junior school headmistress who used to give me extra lessons where we could study anything I wanted to. And I was obsessed with volcanoes at that point, and she was on holiday somewhere up there soon after the big eruption, and brought me back a small jar with some of the ash in. I've still got it ... it seems to symbolise to me all the possibilities and joys of learning in this world (even though I know how terrible a souvenir that must seem to some people)
For what it's worth-my 2cents-yes, the West Coast tends to be more expansive and laid back, but there's also a lot of emphasis on material success, glitz, and it can feel rather superficial (mainly talking about california). The east coast varies from state to state and within state. New Hampshire, although right next to Vermont, is much, much more conservative than vermont, politically and culturally. Vermont has a long tradition of eccentricity and rebellion. But living with long, cold winters, as opposed to someplace where you can hang around outside together does create differences in social patterns.
thats me finished
I agree Eva. Went to Palm Springs last year. Apologies if anyone here loves it, but I couldn't wait to get out of the place! So tacky and artificial and bright
atlante, there is a wonderful museum at the site where you can watch a movie on the eruption and aftermath, and at the end the big curtain behind the screen opens and you see the volcano. it took my breath away even tho i had seen it already from outside the museum.
Also, with all the talk about the West Coast's progressiveness, look who they voted in as governor in California!
thats me finished too well done ruthy
wtg sha
I'm going to try and get there. The friend who I'm visiting lives in AStoria, and that's only 90(?)km away from Mt StH
well, it's cat food time again. See you later.
i agree with you eva, and VT is where i would live if my family would go with me. materialism is so foolish. you can't take all that stuff with you!
which of the New England states is Mt Washington in? New Hampshire?
californians seem to like actors no matter how off the mainstream.
cliff-why did you end up in NH? Just nudge them over the border. If you do it gradually enough they won't notice.
mt washington is in my state, NH. and you can drive to the top if you're not in shape to hike it. another spectacular mt!
I want to see Mt Washington. And climb it. It's one of my absolute ambitions in life
eva, my dad's family live along the NH/VT border and would probably spear me if i tried to cross over to the other side.
It is beautiful Atalante. Spent 3 summers as a teenager at a camp right near Mt. Washington.
atlante, after today's party i will pull out some of my best mt washington pics and email them to you.
So where did you go wrong cliff(-: Did he makes the mistake of letting you read something other than the Manchester Guardian?
really? oh WOW! thank you! Its one of the main settings for my absoulte favourite series of books. Those books are really a part of them by now, I've read them so many times, and I would love to see the actual places ...
as an aside-does anyone have a clue for the se7? I'm guessing its a compound with the se_ root, but can't find it.
do you mean the manchester union leader? i wouldn't even use that paper to put under my cats litter. but my father's family treats it like the bible. if it's in there, it must be true.
Yes, that's the one I mean. Must make for some interesting fammily gatherings! Okay , now it's really cat food time!
Eva - se7 - when the waters sleep?
good morning all, up to 100 words. got the 9 and 10 with clues, but got the others all by myself. but have no 7 letter words, clues please?
that's a word?!
thanks just got the se7 with a clue
thanks amanda
My thought exactly, Eva.
ty amanda. great clue.

help with the c7 words please
Okay, so I got the ca7 & se7, so what 7 am I still missing?
not there yet, Peri. I'm working from the bottom up
ca6= container for wine (plural for 7)
There's a ca7/44 & ca7/32, Ishult
Ishult, thanks
anyone have a hint for the ca7/32
Ca/7: plural of something you pour wine or water from
Fayelle, got that one, need the ca7/32
ca7/21=an enzyme that is formed by some bacteria, that decomposes casein, and that is used in ripening cheese
Good Morning All... BJ's list is posted.
thanks, Ishult up to 115 time for a break, bbl
72 words to go time to take a break later
i guess its time for me to go as well. at least i am half way to finishing. hopefully will get the rest after the party. happy hunting everyone.
have a wonderful party!
good afternoon :-)
hey; is it the rest of you have your country's flag beside your names, but i don't, i wonder? :-/
Hi from Hamburg, Mikey!
er.....'how is it', i meant to ask! :-P
Hallo, Amanda.....wie geht's? :-)
Gut, selber? 'Cept I'm stuck on this ca6/36 that I just can't seem to make work.
i dont no mikey sorry!
actually go on your profile change your location to a different country save it then change it back again see if that works cause it just worked when i tried it
oh, ok; thanks, Bex! so nobody else here sees a flag beside my name either, hmm?
no its not there
Hello, Mikey - nein, no flag!
oh, ok Aloyisius.....but i've just done as Bex suggested.....so, 'testing'?
no fair; does this site just not give a flag to anyone in Deutschland, like they do to everyone else? :-/ sheesh! :-P
no its still not there!
Good morning, all... Yea! Mikey's back (glad we didn't scare you away yesterday)!
not yet..
mikey you could email dr_god to ask about it!
lol, Jera; ja, i'm back.....and no, you didn't....not *quite* yet, anyhow! ;-)
who's 'dr_god', bex777.....or what's his email address, please?
Oh, the day is young... at least here in the States...
hes the creator of the game! if u click on whats dr_god up to in the dev log then on the next page u can contacts him!
oh ja; thank you, bex777!!! :-) i'm a complete 'newbie' here, can't you tell? :-P
ok; i've emailed him.....i want my flag, dammit! :-/ hehe!
lol hope he tells u how to get it! :)
I wonder if anyone else in Deutschland is Babbling right now - perhaps they could post a message to see if the flag appears? Just a thought...(-:
ja; there was another of my countryfolk in here, who's in Hamburg, and she didn't have our flag either! :-/
h'mm, I wonder was is los?
Is Germany a recent addition? Maybe there is a glitch with the icon for that flag?
hello everyone :) I'm back to tackle another couple.
morning! I have 100 words, with no list, no clues. I haven't looked at the stats panel yet, but I bet there are at least 250 words today...
I am so proud of you, Angelsong... there are only 203 today!
Hi Angelsong... you are close. 203
I got to 75 today with no list or clues ... I think this is my 5th or 6th babble puzzle, so I was happy with that.
Amandacath have you got the ca6/36 yet?
hello again, Angelsong! :-)
My goal is to do half without list... sometimes I sneak a peek at the chat fro clues if I get stuck, though!
Gutten tag, Mikey!
lots of Babble words today.
heck yeah
I'm back... had to go help subdue a small kitchen fire...
Hi Jera Who was setting fire to what in yr kitchen? Morning/afternoon all.
10 year old making breakfast, bless her hearst...
LOL... Mum to the rescue :)
I mostly just supervised, she was doing everything right... we need more baking soda now, though...
Hope your morning is less exciting than mine, FMitch?
I applaud you Jera, not enough children are taught to cook or even how to function in a kitchen these days. Glad to say my sunday has been peacful and incident free, mind you thats probably because I dont have any children!!! LOL
ca9?
What? Fe 5/16 plural isn't a valid word?
Angel - ca9 , when you cant give birth naturally.. and ca10 pl
I began teaching both my son and my daughter to cook when they were five years old. My mother wouldn't let me even try to cook until I was 15 or 16, because of my disablities. She was afraid I'd get hurt. I told her, "of course I'll get hurt, but I have to learn to deal with that, too." Now, I love cooking and baking...from scratch.
With me being handicapped, I stress independence... otherwise they miss out!
yes, Jera! You and I have that in common.
I'm going to teach my grandson to cook as well. we're going to have such fun. I want to see his face the first time he gets his hands into bread dough.
May I ask what your handicap is, Angelsong?
Mikey, bei mir kam die Mädchen Figur nie zum Erscheinen. Bis ich mein Profil wiederholte und am Schluss UPDate gedrückt habe. Vielleicht klappt das.
In Babbleland gibt es offenbar keine Umlaute
I promise to talk English again now.
I was born with Cerebral Palsy and optic nerve atrophy, Jera. I am legally blind, but thank God my speech is unimpaired, although my entire left side is much weaker than my right side.
I see, so you can empathize with my mobility issues...
Greetings, everyone!!!!! How are you all doin'?
empathize? Jera, I live with them daily, just as you do...so yes, I do understand.
Greetings, movieman... it's not you but I have to take a break & warm up... it got chilly again last night... back later!
it's so odd. because of my disabilities, people either look at me with pity (which I can't stand, and don't tolerate) or they see me as some kind of a saint. The reality is, I'm no different from anyone else, other than the way I get from Point A to Point B and back.
Angel and Jera I think you are both wonderful !!.....no one would ever guess that your lives are just not as easy as ours....I wonder if I could be so 'unfazed' are you both appear to be.
not pity here Angel.....just admiration !!
Part of it, I'm certain, is that my disabilities are from birth. You can't miss what you've never had. I've got lots of unique ways of doing things, but I do get things accomplished. I even took care of my kids in unique ways. I kept a large sturdy cardboard box at the end of my daughter's crib when she was in infant, with a large firm pillow and a blanket inside. My mom asked me what it was for. I told her, if the house ever caught fire, the baby goes into the box, and then she's secured with the blanket and I will lower the box out the window!
Angelsong, I like your outlook. Some people who are in good health take it somewhat for granted and upon meeting someone else who has to work a bit harder to enjoy what comes so easily to them puts a lot of things in perspective.
ummm. predjudices and biases do flavour our views. it is sad. I do have a personal issues with one disability--ones' lack of thinking--when people don't use their heads...then I have something worse than pity to express. All other issues are just issues, and don't really affect the character of an individual...that'ws my two cents
I was not expected to even survive when I was born. I weighed just 2 pounds, 7 ounces (3 months premature). Yet, I have children and a grandchild. I also managed to go to college, though I never thought I would be able to afford it, and I have a Master's Degree. So, doctors don't know everything.
my thought is: Ignorance is teachable. Stupidity is voluntary.
It is difficult for me to pity Hawkings, even though he's truly in a bad bind...I just admire the perseverence and his abilities irrespective of his 'handicap'...and Angel, one would never know when one reads postings or books about others
I respect and admire Hawkings tremendously.
me2...even though I dont understand him verbally, and have a tough time with his math, his ability to cope with the changes in his life, and his drive to survive are admirable
Good afternoon/morning everyone.
hiya haz!
Hello bex - how are you getting on?
back ... and I also admire Hawkings work and the way he's managed to become such a force in science. I don't actually admire *him* though.
Guten morgen/buon giorno/good morning, (or afternoon) all ... :-)
Hello, artlady.
bon apres-midi!
i have 68 words haz how many u got?
62 - I got a few this morning and am just starting again.
prynhawn da welsh for good afternoon
what's the longest word you've ever seen on one of these things?
janus, how do you pronounce that? (the Welsh good afternoon)
if you can be a miscreant, why can't you be a creant?
prin hown ( like down) dar
prin hown (like down) dar
thank you, janus!
i think we've had 12 letter words...
lol, hurshy I also think taser should be in there!
yeah, i tried that too
I really want to enter "kestrel"......
Good Heavens......it has taken me long to get logged on again....just read thro' all your posts....great !!!
laughed at your 'box' idea Angel....that was definately forward thinking !
g morning
I always have been able to think around corners, Karys. Thank goodness I never had to use the "box." Having a solid sense of humor is a big help, too.
Angel-I work with people with developmental disabilites. Once I asked a woman with Cerebral Palsy what she thought heaven would be like. I expected her to say the usual "in heaven I'll be able to run and jump and walk". But instead she said, "no floors."
What she meant was, "in heaven, when I fall down I won't get hurt." She did not want to be a different person in heaven, she just wanted the environment to be a little easier on her.
That comment, 20 years ago, has shaped my whole view of heaven, and of so-called "disability."
I agree with her completely. I learned to fall long before I learned to walk. The only times I've been hurt in falls have been when I've tried to prevent the falls when they began. if I just go limp like a rag doll, I'm not hurt.
sounds like what they tell a beginning skier!
just reading back in the log - Angelsong, I always heard it as: Ignorance is curable, Stupidity is for life Therest of the thread is pretty interesting... (sorry, I have no better word)
harpjane: pretty interesting comments, too. (sorry, just being a lurker)
hey hey hey
's okay klone, I'm off to church now anyway....the Holy Week Music Vortex begins....
Howcum Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday have names, but not Saturday?
Ash, Maundy, Good, ?, and Palm/Easter
Sabbath?
I've met people who have had a much more difficult time with CP than I do. So it's all a matter of degree. Being born with a disability is not as difficult, in my mind, as one that occurs through trauma later. I've had a lifetime to learn to adjust to my situation; it's no big deal. I just do it. But to have a broken neck/back and be a quadriplegic? I'd freak.
Shadow: different ruleset :-)
i think it's called holy saturday
'nut, how did the cleaning go?
are you purged of the urge??
art lady, YES! it is so done, and i think i made out, what with that new dishwasher and all.
Anyone have any clues on ca/9 and ca/10? "Salad" just didn't do it for me. Perhaps my diet is too crude(ite)
when you don't have your baby "naturally"
ca9 - operation named after Roman Emperor and performed to facilitate childbirth.
(excellent crudite pun btw)
Hello all. I am just popping in and out. Will finish tonight after Interlochen concert at Orchestra Hall in Detroit. But that was a truly inspiring discussion. I admire you gals.
A blunt clue (as I was from my mother's womb untimely rip't), but an adequate one, thank you!
Thanks hurshy (I did improvisational comedy for 6 years :-)
good afternoon everyone
Good afternoon jean.
well then, keep us entertained while we hunt :)
and why stop klone?
Angelsong: My GF has just pulled/torn her quadriceps. Years ago I had an ACL transplant that kept me off my feet for a while. So she asked me "how did you stand it?" (she has a lot of trouble sitting still). I said what you said: you just do.
eva: I still do it, just not professionally. The effort of maintaining a troupe was too hard. But I miss it, too :-/
hello all :D Klone - where are you from?
Morning, everyone! Can I beg a clue for the first FR5/16?
The trouble with comedy is that it is halibut forming. I went to a sturgeon to see if he could operate on the problem, but all I got was a haddock, and I hake that. I know it was shellfish of me, but I wanted my plaice in the world to be something other than the butt of jokes.
I've had multiple surgeries in my life...beginning when I was six until I was 16, I had 4 surgeries on each leg (both legs at the same time.) I couldn't bear weight for six weeks following, and had to re-learn to walk each time. I went to school in a wheelchair. I then had surgeries (two on each eye) for retinal detachments and cataracts). and yes, "you just do." You do what you have to do.
fr5/16 - add a donkey
sherb: Pittsburgh, PA. Alas, no TheatreSports nearby any more (that was us).
Haz! Too funny. But a great clue. Thanks. =8-)
hey klone, i'm north of pittsburgh
Charm - I could think of no other way of putting it! Glad it worked.
Hey, my sister is living in Pittsburgh right now. Unfortunately she doesn't like it
Hi Klone and evanonut...I'm originally from Pittsburgh and my parents still iive there. I'm now in Seattle, WA
Angel: I have a good friend with CP. He was an Eagle Scout (they waived the mile swim for him). Another friend with CP is not so lucky (boy, that's showing my bias, isn't it?), but he works for the Presidents somethingorother for the handicapped (and is something of a big deal in that organization).
DONE....anyone need a clue??
ah beautiful western pa
interesting... and I've just discovered what ACL and Theatresports mean...
klone - you're funny, but you can't compete with o'chita here
So many people from the MidEast!
mid east? well my future sister in law is in kuwait right now.
hurshy: It was lame, I know (and mostly canned - the real improv is always funnier)
Eva: Pittsburgh isn't the MidWest - that starts in Ohio. We are the "gateway to the West", hence the MidEast :-)
no, no, it was funny, i like that sort of thing. but o'chita gets me every time. hasn't anyone else noticed??
what's that hurshy? i didn't get it.
noticed what, hurshy?
Hurshy thinks I am a creature of habit...
seriously, nobody else has noticed that o'chita uses the exact same format to tell us every time he finishes? this amuses me tremendously
well we know that, Ouwachita... that's not funny...
oh hurshy, it's probably a macro, silly girl.
ok, maybe i just have a weird sense of humor
no, it isnt...I just happen to type it exactly the same every time..."Done...anyone need a clue??"
I didn't notice...now I'm going to watching o'chita very closely
we all have our habits...
and the DONE is always all caps and there are always 2 ?? at the end :)
pine, with a looking glass.
I've noticed - but it's just what you do, Ouwachita.
so what?
poor owchinchilla
Back to Pittsburgh...I spent 2 weeks there last summer working and really like the CM museum. Great contemporary collection! The Warhol was not great, tho.
i like it! i like people who have a definitive trait to hang your hat on. :)
and Pittsburgh won the SuperBowl this year!
artlady: The warhol is filled with Warhols - THAT is why it sucks :-)
i'm not trying to poke fun, honest.
I went to Fallingwater a couple of years ago...which is SE of Pittsburgh...it was fantastic
love the museam too artlady, and agree on the andy warhol. i don't like him representing our region quite so much.
hmmm...
owchinchilla, keep meaning to go to falling water, haven't got there yet.
Hello everybody. It's a beautiful Palm Sunday here in Vermont.
Not only that Warhol is over-rated, the museum itself is inaccessible. Inaccessible in the sense that it doesn't present the work or the context to make it understandable for people who don't know his work. Sorry, I get really annoyed at places that make art too obscure!
it was rated the #1 architectural feat of the 20th century
go to Fallingwater during a nice, sunny day and picnic nearby...it is worth the trip.
If you go to FallingWater, you also need to go to Kentuck Knob
hi gramma :D
Fallingwater is fabulous. I haven't seen it since the multimillion dollar restoration, tho.
speaking of the Steelers: http://www.inacchord.com/steel ers.html - feel free to download the song my a cappella group produced (and then you can guess which of the 6 members I am :-)
Warhol ...I liked the time capsules (boxes) he kept and wished they showed more of them. The museum did a bad job of discussing Warhol's life too. A large part of his fame was the projects he did and people he knew.
hi everyone! does dr. G think all we have to do all weekend is sit around, babble and chat? LOL!
you must be DK...
hey, nut! *ducks*
sherb: got it in 1
The problem is, the chat gets so interesting that I take too long to finish the puzzle!
hi Temple :D ... well compared to weekdays, he'd be right... my weekends are leisurely compared to the working week...
72! * jumps on top of 72 * what are we ducking from?
I work 7 days a week...so one day is just like another
klone, i see three men fold there, if you give me your age, i could eliminate a bit - good song by the way.
hey nut... where were you on Janet Evanovich Day? I found a special icon, but you didn't show up...
men folk, not men fold
nut: i've alwaays wanted to go to fallingwater...is it near you?
sherb,i was later. i can't have internet at work. do you still have the icon? will you show me?
I'm back for my final 25 words... how's it going here in Babbleland?
what work do you do Ouwa?
Hello, all...I'm new(ish), and generally lurk, as I'm shy. I have 202 words, though, and cannot for the life of me find ra6. Can anyone help?
72 - little over an hour i think - i've been wanting to see it for quite some time, but never get there.
I deleted it... it was a Trenton PD badge... I have a soft spot for Morelli...
ra6 - gotta ra6 that thar pig to the ground
eva - age? that's too easy! I am the most glabrous, but also the most hirsute male
morning to all or afternoon or night as the case may be stuck on the last ca 6/36 word any help?? pls and ty
lindyt - shy, with a name like that?
ra6-- it's a slang word for tussle or fight on a mat
klone - you will be the wonderful cat in the middle then or the chap in the top right hand corner (me thinks)!!!
hurshy...how many pigs have you ra6....to the ground???
oka then klone, top right
Welcome, lindy. You're ahead of me, I'm only halfway done...'course there are distractions...
that was handy - I needed that ra6... :D
ca6 - to your receptacle for packing clothes add what a bird does, minus one letter
that'd be a big zero
72! * looks around room*
yay, that was my last C!
eva: ding!
100
eva: and also the bottom of the chord, all the way down to G below low C
*hastily swallows bagel* yes nut?
whoooo hooooo i win! what do i win? are you the deep voice go steelers guy?
Haz1558--ty
72, you can't just jump in, say hi, and disappear! that's not nice.
ty haz had to really think about that clue but got it, lol
using the list makes this a bit mathematical... the last ra4 and ra5 after the rodents, for example...
Thanks so much! Yes, I'm shy -- the name comes from the fact that I will dance (lindy hop/swing) with anyone at any time. That doesn't mean I'm any good at talking. ;)
You're welcome.
klone - your mother is an internationally know sexologist?
sorry, nut - hungry!
down with a's and k's!
s'okay 72, i'm over it. *turns over can of whipped topping and squirts it on 72*
eva: indeed she is (and you win a free copy of the song :-)
next to the polamalu song, that's my new favorite.
if i knew you had whipped cream, i would have made waffles! LOL! (that better be real (light) cream),
no no, it's heavy, and an excellent conditioner.
these ca's remind me of yesterday's re's!!
'nut, it's also sticky and will mess up that nice clean kitchen you have...
then that calls for strawberries! have you ever made cake for berries with heavy cream vs. butter for shortening? heaven!
worry not artlady, its in 72's kitchen.
yea - THAT'LL work
I dropped a carton of double (heavy) cream on my kitchen floor the other week... what a MESS!!! ...had me skating across the floor as I tried to clean it up...
gah! sherb - where's the cat when you need it?
72, 'nut is on a cleaning jag. Make sure she comes over to clean up her mess!!
ttfn...going for coffee with my daughter b4 she heads back to college. Happy babbling!
bye, al!
your cleaning binge yesterday had me noticing all the dirt in my kitchen today, nut... ignorance was bliss...
later artlady :D
so sorry sherb, but on the plus side, that over doors vents are white again!
Anyone care to assist me with my last h? I have the ha4/5, ha512 & the ha6/21......
Don't worry, just got it...... Damn these alternate spellings!!!!!!!
ty movieman :)
so let's see, we have medusa, i assume nut is representing adonis? what's yours sherb?
why are searay and searat not words? : /
and temple, is that narcissus?
hurshy, it's a siren
mine is multipurpose... for when I can't find a new icon that inspires me...
oh, of course, silly me. and siren was in yesterday's puzzle!
Good afternoon all you Babblers - how is it going
hursh, i don't know the names. but i googled greek god and he came up.
hi Norma :D

Hurshy - which ones do you need????

try http://www.lightfoot-klein.com / (without the extra space)
any clue for the ak's?
aha, there are ak's!
ak5/18 & ak6/30
The ak words are used in guiding/scouting circles if that's any help
If it's not, then to a add an anagram of lake and plural for the 6
The ak's are an inuit/aluet canine
Have you got the ak's ?? ak - miss fitzgerald minus one of the l's ak5/18 ak6/30 pluralise it

you weren't kidding klone
oh how lovely, my whole left side is grey

ty lshult, haz, and norma
Dinner time bbl - happy babbling everyone
Bye Norma - enjoy your dinner!
Well, it hasn't been anywhere near seven years, but, like Odysseus, I have returned!
bet you know more than you care to klone
you're lucky temple left, odysseus, she was a siren
i'm here! ta-da! good morning, all --
hi stidmama!
Tis a better fate to see a siren than a cyclops I always say.
stiddeddydoodaa
(((hurshy))) i got 113 last night without a list...
Thanx Haz :D
good for you, stidmama! :) :) :)
evanonut... hi! who's the hunk?
beats me stidarama, i googled greek god and there he was, i didn't see a reason to search farther.
LoL, evanout. Makes sense.
eva: I edited her first two books, so yes. But ending the practice is also a good thing to know :-)
looks like today's theme is a winner! sirens, cyclops, medusa...
klone, i already contemplate ordering up a book.
i'll put it on the coffee table when company comes. it'll be sure to be a conversation starter.
I think you can get it on Amazon, but if you get it from her, she'll autograph it (just say I said so). Also, it is not a "fun" read, but it is also rife with her travel stories, and she is a good writer (if you peruse my site, you'll see where I learnt my craft)
ah, but what does it run...i'm poor you know.
hee hee - I have a few of those on my coffee table. They are either starters or enders :-)
well, if they are enders, i'm sure the company wasn't much fun anyway!
most of my company would be intrigued, with the exception of grandma maybe - wouldn't want to explain it to her.
atalante - you around? IM?
evanout, explain what to me?
hi gramma! is that atlas?
Darn tootin'.
he he gramma, i actually meant my grandma - but- that would be the presence of klones mothers books.
Why isn't arear included as a word? it's a real word...
arrear
Is it not usually spelt arrear?
okay folks... not to make anyone jealous or anything, but it's Sunday -- waffle day -- My Tom says the chocolate waffles are ready. (of course you're all invited if you get here before they're gone...) -- later!
but hursh, when i twist just so, i see that i have arear.
why is it that having a cold makes you FEEL cold, even with a fleece blanket over a sweater over a sweatshirt over a shirt?
I've seen it spelt arear, and dictionary.com backs me up
*pun intended*
lol nut... some of us don't have to twist as far as others
What's the meaning of arear in dictionary.com?
hurshy, that's why they call it a "cold". Get it?
well they don't take afear either, which is a pretty legitimate slang in my opinion
just so isn't far i assure you hurshy, i have that honky tonk badonkadonk
lol nut
hurshy -- that's your body working the way it should. It means you have a fever, to chase away the virus. Drink lots of clear liquids (tea, juice, water) to help your system flush it out, and sleep. If you are truly miserable, then tylenol or advil will help bring the fever down. where is your mother to tell you these things?
backwards or in reverse, as in 'arear march'
Don't forget we are at the whim of the Enable dictionary here in babble land.
what geek myth is that 'nut?
i don't have a fever - and i do know these things. i just don't like having a cold. :)
bleh
hurshy: ginger tea and a hot bath help the immune system fight what's ailing you. LOTS of fluids (no caffeine)..jewish mother speaking.
well no caffeine is easy, bc i don't drink coffee anyway
well then, hurshy, the best I can offer is ((((hugs)))) of sympathy as I dash off to consume my waffles! bye!
i made homemade chicken soup for lunch yesterday and i will have some of the leftovers soon
chic, what greek myth is what? CHIX DE CLIX! *snicker*
hursh, i'm in sympathy, my house is sixty degrees right now.
ty stidmama :)
Oy vey. There's too many e's and a's today. I'd like to buy more consanants, please.
or just SELL some of these stupid vowels!
r3n and I were talking about what would be a good icon for 'geek myths'. I said perhaps a statue of Bill Gates...
eva: back again. Yep, conversation ender books are to get rid of boring company. I have the ReSearch book on body modification for that purpose. All sorts of "sick" stuff (I think it is interesting without being "into" it), but when closed-minded people call it sick, I know they won't be back (and good riddance :-)
Good afternoon/evening, y'all. Any ren sightings today? I'm beginning to worry.
What is today's icon theme??
hi mab :) i have not seen ren
greek mythology
saw ren last night
eva: talking with you caused my muse to show up. I feel the need to write it down. If you want to chat about my Mom's book (or other things), better to do it directly, as I won't be reading this thread for a while. You can find out how on my contact page. ttyl!
chix - my highschool picture!
klone - get to work, i understand the muse!
I'm firing on only half a brain; this time difference is tolling. Ren was up to at least 3 a.m. lastt nite... How was bowling, 'nut?
okay, back mmmph -- waffles are finger food when babble calls...
I'm back... refreshed!
Jera, wicked icon! who is it?
Now to the last 11 nasty ca's... today's re's are ca's!
nut, I have a just read a book I think you would li-ike. Kate Atkinson, Emotionally Weird. It's a comic novel and a mystery and it's brilliant. I like everything she writes - mostly comic novels, funnily enough - but this one reminded me somehow of you. I hope you read it so I'll know if I'm right or wrong with my intuition.
Gaia... Mother Earth...
a fews ca's are related to a famous leader that was killed...and the birth method...and salad. etc.
ah! of course! i don't usually see her as having a waistline! :-) but I suppose before she had all those kids she must have! [like me...]
That's the beauty of magic, I suppose... Gaia is Mother Earth. She is from whom everything comes, but she is not quite a divinity, because she is Earth. She bore the Titans as well as monsters like the hundred armed men, and some of the Cyclopes - others were sons of Poseidon. She was the daughter of Chaos, and the mother of all creatures (according to some). She was the first and the last, and wanted all of her children, no matter what. She was primarily spoken of as a Mother of other Gods, rather than having her own myths.
mab, got it written down. ill grab it for next week. chix - we won all four, took commanding lead of first, and i almost lost my thumb
ouch!
he he!
did Mab just describe you as 'emotionally weird'?
also, should i find it disturbing that you think emotionally weird is a good book for me mab?
i think so chix, i'm not sure how i FEEL about that, you know, emotionally.
The content, not the title, made me think of you, nut. Emotionally weird? I wouldn't limit myself in that way.
Good re ren sightings.
he he, either way, sounds like it will keep me good company when i'll be needing it.
Hi Babblers Just jumping in for a few words Jera *sprinkle*sprinkle*sprinkle I also chose Mother Earth how strange is that???
faeriekae! good morning!
{{{Stid}}} good afternoon.
Evan - LOVE your Icon :)
Mab who is your icon. beautifulllllllll
thank you faerie!
Hi faerie! Persephone.
Whoo-hoo! *happy dance of doneness* Thanks, {{{faeriekae}}} your sprinkles worked!
Mab she has such a presence abut her. I love it.
persephone is a pretty name
mab, i thought she was an orange sheet tossed on the bed.
re5/14?
Hi Hurshy - who is your icon... and yes it is a pretty name (not going to try and spell it lol)
question; proper names are/are not allowed...so many words i wonder about the border between proper noun, etc. for example, ar 4 (riv** in turkey)???
{{{{Angel}}}}} HI!!
a lot of words are used in more than one way. a 4 can be a river, or it can mean "a distance" ...
not to mention the icon theme word.... that looks like the plural of to be in the third person?
mine is icarus
morning, Angelsong!
re5/14 = tell it again
i don't mean the one meaning distance. i mean the one with the 'k'....and it's plural? dictionary.com only has the proper name definition...maybe it's me being picky.
Hurshy - Icarus was the god of what? I almost when with Athen then chose Mother Earth instead.
such a poet, nut. she's all about the underworld and sleep -- she=me. Except I'm real. I think. I think therefore I must be real. I think.
never mind. i scrolled down (duh) and foudn the non proper definition. it' sjust me being groggy on a sunday
flew too high did ic.
i thought it was i think therefore i am?
I don't think Icarus was a god, but he is definitely part of Greek mythology...
icarus isn't a god....he was used as an example i believe of pride/fall....wanted to be a god, made wings, flew too close to the sun despite warnings...and fell. he's a parable :-0)
wasn't icarus the one who made some wings w/daedalos but then got a little showy & flew too close to the sun, melted his wings and then died?
I essentially live in novels. not too clear on reality. at least I try not to be.
decartes said 'i think therefore i am" the joke goes, someone asked him a question and he replied 'wait, i can't think" and disappeared. mathmatician humor.
I was thinking Athena/Minerva at first, too... but Gaia is close to my naked ivy fairy so I used her... felt comfy!
As you can tell I'm not up on the Greek thing but I did study Athen very extensively. I really was intrested in her. The goddess of wisdom and warfare....
{{{Faerie}}} hi, Stidmama...
mab, i do tend to live vicariously through lots of novels. so sometimes when they are embarassed, so am i.
gaia is all things. we use her example extensively in yoga... grounding, earth, strength, etc.
well everyone has summed up icarus very nicely :)
Ashtang - I think your correct.
icarus and ichabod....both fated myth men...do you think they have the same root?
i was never big on greek gods, soap operas worked just as well.
Jera - now that is strange. I have several photos of Athena/Minerva downloaded.
faerie.....hi its scribble!
icarus is mentioned in one of my favorite songs, so that is why i chose him. "i am the only one to blame for this somehow it all ends up the same soaring on the wings of selfish pride flew too high and like icarus i collide with a world i tried so hard to leave behind..."
mab, are you a Pisces? you sound like me; only half of a foot in reality....
(((Scribble))) Hi... good to see you
hurshy - what song is that?
hursh: what song is that?
is the sudoku hard today?
Hurshy what song is that *teehee*
Scribble I haven't been there so I don't know.
it's called "worlds apart" and it is by jars of clay
I will have to look that one up Hushy. It sounds like something I would really like.
oooh, jars of clay
Thanks faerie, I like this image too. T'is a pre-Raphaelite painting (I forget which one). They just loved this sort of thing: sleep, death, rebirth, blah, blah.
JofC....they have a christian bent, do they not? i rememer that song something about 40 days...(noah? rain?)
it's from their first album, which is self-titled.
even the band name is a biblical reference...i think/
jars of clay is a really good band!
they are christian - yes.
i liked them, but not the entire album, therefore never bought another.
indeed it is..."we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this power is from God and not from us"
takes a lot to become a pop (forgive the term) band with a message.... i give them props.
hey does anyone have the ak 5 word?
hey hey -- Moshe wandered around in circles for 40 years, lest we forget. Pre-jc.
as one of lost tribes, yeah, foo on me for forgetting...this being the passover time of year... :-0) my bad mab.
well mab, it's all biblical, anyway...and the 40 days song referred to, flood, is more referring to noah, which is even pre-mosaic!
Scribble - ak5=character from Kipling's "The Jungle Book", or a name given to a Scout leader......
hurshy you listen to jars of clay
it was funny to me that flood was the first single released, i think it's my least favorite song on that album
Scribble ak + 2nd vowel + stick letter + 1st vowel then for th 6 make plural
yes shorty, i love them
me too cool
:)
thank you faerie!
{{{Shorty}}}
Scribble-your welcome :)
{{{{{faerie}}}}}
Scribble - did ya see my clue as well?
OMG-I just got the first 3 ca's without clues...
movieman- yes and thank you for trying to help but i am a little slow and didnt understand your clue. Sorry!
Hey movieman-what's shakin'?
movieman, your icon make me think of the ring, with the woman brushing her hair in the video
some the online dictionary doesn't have....how do we qualify ?
'are ya ready boots? Start walkin! duh duh, duh duh duh, duh duh, etc.' oh lord, i'm starting to quote the log. hi shorty.
I'm absolutely over the moon, faerie..... My team, Chelsea, won yet again, by 4 goals to 1 despite having a man sent off in the first half........ And despite what Sir Alex Ferguson says, I still believe Chelsea have done too much to be denied a second consecutive title.......
Mab - LOL - one of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you...
now who's gonna clean the general lee?
hey mab
Movieman-Fantastic - and I agree about Chelsea.
Chelsea does deserve the title with a record like that.
brb phone
ok, time for some serious focused monkey typing
are you guys still seeing boots or a man?
greco-roman mythology is so interesting, in part because it continues to be who we are. not surprising since the basis/source of anglo culture is hellenism, which bumped into earliest Judaic culture in spite of.....zzzzzz.
I agree, faerie, Chelsea just did too much in the first half of the season and built up too big a lead points-wise..... And many are saying that they are going through a 'blip', but I reckon if you are gonna falter, you're better off doing it when there's only 4 or 5 matches left.....
mob...you had a good start. put yourself to sleep, eh? theology major?
who got their stuff from Egypt & Sumeria & Assyria, etc
see a man now shorty - boots before the refresh
ok ty
thats me finished bye all
bye hannah lou!
Stidmama, are you Iris?
hi shorty, Shadow, movieman... my mother called and I disappeared. down to 66 words, going to get the list. later all!

noah, pre-mosaic, oh yeah..... fig, my father was a wandering aramaen (sp). oh right, the grid.

Ooh, yippeee! A gold star for me! (It helps tide me over, since I've got 108 words still to find.)
And yes, I am Pandora. Gold star for you, too!
I'm back... catching up on the chat... jars of clay is from II Corinthians 4:7... the things I know...
i like gold stars! and pink stars, and crystal stars... and chocolate... here, have a bit of chocolate waffle!
Gold stars are good, but chocolate makes the world go round.
gold star for jera too :) my monkeys are letting me down
bb later gonna eat
im back! hurshy it wont let me sign on IM
*spinning* okay, I really do have to go get that list and get going... have a lovely grid, people!

Courtesy of Sprite: Ka5/6: measure(s) of the purity of gold Ka4/5: pile(s) of rocks, alt. spelling Ke4: brownish-green mountain-dwelling New Zealand parrots Ke4: smoking materials, such as Indian hemp, used especially in the Maghreb, or the euphoria caused by smoking them Ky4: cocoanut fiber, or the cordage made from it. Sounds like what seagulls say. Ky4/5: Myanmar currency + plural. Rhymes with the gold K-word.

Beat me to it, mab, lol
203 words today!
203
I thought the ka5 & 6 was a breed of cat
thanks mab (and sprite) got 'em all now!

Thanks for the clues Mab!
ca4/5 + ea4/4 ...run them together for the other ca7
the al's?
Hurshy, measurement of land with plural, measurement of a room, with plural, a + tool to rid leaves minus the e, plural
yes the al's please....
1st hebrew letter and its plurals for 'al' and, nickname for someone that drinks too much
aha - that tool one was a winner, jee
al + the Keebler's creature, minus a consonant, then plural

lol, sounds like a good deal to me :)
of course they are like the points on "whose line is it anyway?" they don't really count for anything... :( just my love and esteem
Hurshy do you have the comparative and superlative of sa4?
I'll take love and esteem over points any day :)
it's sa4 to say i do!
Do you have the re4 that say sa4?
do you have the sk's?
indeedy
sk - now you're talking!
Okay, guess you are going to have to give me clues, cause I am out of clever ones for you.
ok i just got 2 sk's are there more?
sk5/18 and its plural for the 6
nope, that's it

Weirdos abound in here.
sk sounds like a thing of wool but spelled funny
hurshy - do you have a re5/16?

You've got us pegged, JeeWhiz! ;>
se7/28?
top left?
top...middle
Do you have the tool to gather leaves?
se7/28 add onto the se4/4 above it
se7/28 = the most se4/4 above it
jera, i'll try not to be insulted by that :)
do you have the ry's?
oh, kind of like mommy de7
The tool that you use to make pile of leaves in the fall is ra 4/8.
Arrrrrrggggghhhhh, there are way too many ca words today!!!
i have 2 ry 4's
hurshy, there are 2 more
does anyone have the ca 10 word?
4's? 5's? ca10 is pl of ca9 when you don't have your baby "naturally"
ok, everyone....there's a new section in the sidebar of the Resource page (both pages are the same). I've added a section for Babblers' Homepages, and the first link is now up in that section!
scribble, plural of the ca9 - unatural birth
ry4/10 and its plural
The ca 10 is a variation of cesarean.
got 'em!
Yay hurshy!
Hurshy it's kind of like that le4 tool again
i still need 5 s's from the right side which seems a little ridiculous
and i have only 4's and 5's remaining
I still need 7 of those right sided s's.

hurshy - do you have es5/18?
se 5 sounds like fe 5...rhymes.
and he hits it again! woohoo mac! for the ca10, make sure you start with the top left c
scrib: it's the same word your were typing, but just add the two endings....and use the alternate beginning (cae***ean...and plural)
ok mac, down to 2 f's from top, one from 3rd row, and 4 stinkin' s's from the right

some 5's from lower f: opp of true, rhymes with p--- porridge hot
Still missing three of the 9 e's from the centre..... I have the ea4/4 (the lordly title & the plural), another 3 ea4/4's (to be comfortable, the direction & consumes), and the ey4/6 (A nestling hawk or falcon, especially one to be trained for falconry)...... What are the other 3 plz.....
have that... pretty sure it's a 5, bc i have 2 5's and a 4 left, so the 4 and one 5 are prob a combo from the s
or fe5/16... not the one that's a meal
five points to vi for the porridge clue!
right you are mac
fe5/16 fe +ea4 to relax
two more ey's
the only 4/5 combo is fe brave deed

movieman - to quote rachel from friends... "no uterus, no opinion"
i think we didn't understand your question, mikey. they need to add themselves. or if you mean can you have a list of friends, the answer is no.

I have a question: does anyone know of any resorces or links that are not currently included on the resource page that would be helpful to include?
Woot! Lola ditches the champers and joins nut in some whiskey shots! : D

of course i'm a good boy, Lola; i'm a 'little angel'.....just ask my mom! ;-)
i'm for loyalty (and i like the myths anyway)
mikey, don't be too good now or else I won't be able to put you on the naughty step... ; )
*sigh* Does anyone else miss JoelGee??
okay hursh, who should I be then?
YES! i had a huge babble crush on him. where did he go???
lola...be danae, maybe?
i may not be JoelGee, but you guys dont need to miss ME any longer. ;)
hello, evanadine!
Hello Ev, Hurshy, Lola...everyone!
hi angela :)
get a hot guy greek god / hero icon, lola!
hursh, he's a writer and I believe he found that babble was taking over so decided to spend more time writing. Wish he'd pop in now and then though. Okay, who was danae?
evanonut, are you evanofan too? i added you to my yahoo messenger, but it says 'add request pending' still; and i wanted to introduce you to Gabbyn there :-/
hey evaN! How you doing?? : ) hey angela! : )
ata, I'm off to google 'hot guy greek god/ hero' as we speak...lol! : D
"Danae was the daughter of Acrisius. An oracle warned Acrisius that Danae's son would someday kill him, so Acrisius shut Danae in a bronze room, away from all male company. However, Zeus conceived a passion for Danae, and came to her through the roof, in the form of a shower of gold that poured down into her lap; as a result she had a son, Perseus."
hey, evaN! welcome back!
im good! work has been so busy i havent had much babble time lately... vegetating this weekend though. :)
hursh, that is rather romantic. Her very own passion?? I'm off to get an icon, back in a bit : )
okay, refresh for danae : )
mikey, yes, i'm evanofan too, remember the confusing convo? he EvaN, good to see.
lola, i googled those images just now too and that was the one i liked best!!! yay!!
hey hursh, great minds! I liked the naked one too (very arty) but didn't want to offend : )
WHICH naked one - they almost all are!
lol, the klimt one : )
*catching up on chat* Mikey, you know, not all angels are sent from heaven above... ;>
Back in the good old days it was not big deal to be naked... the old Olympics, everyone competed that way... of course, it was just guys...
Angela... I like your icon... Pan was a great guy...
Lola... wasn't JoelGee the guy who left soon after I proposed? i was just thinking about him the other day...
anybody like the classic trek episode with apollo? he said not to bring spock down to see him because he reminded him of pan, and pan always bored him (no offense angela!)
YOU proposed??? i was going to propose!!!
Hi ya, kidz, how's it going?
me and jera are having a moot fight over joelgee
Haven't seen JoelGee in ages...
hence the mootness
CHIX DE CLIX!
jera, lol! I don't remember who you proposed to! I miss lots of the old players...torgone, PAV3, bobsta, baggo, mtn.... : (
Hey 'nut and Mikey!
hi chic : )
I'm feeling a little more awake now.
torgone still comes around - and you can catch him over in sudoku
Hi Lola!
Can anyone help me fine a good icon page - I do the google search on profiles but it takes me ages to find one that has good pictures. Thanks :)
hursh, yeah, the firewall they had put in on his work pc was down so he came by a few times! It was so nice to see him again : )
I fell for him when he knew about the "fake millenium"... I'm a sucker for smart guys!
he was just so witty, that's why i liked him
'nut go to IM; I want to hear my new ringtone....
What happened to them Lola... are they too busy sudoku-ing? Or just drifted away?
mmm, very dry sense of humour : )
chix, you mean send you one? okay
Sorry i took off a bit ago... my 4 year old had the caterpillars out... fortunately they all survived the experience!
jera, baggo is working in the ER now, so waaay less time to babble. JoelGee had to stop playing because his writing was suffering. Torgone had a nasty firewall installed at work and couldn't get into babble. mtn changed jobs and is too busy to play (although he did pop in a couple of times a few weeks ago). Bobsta has a new job AND is renovating the house he and bubbles have recently bought together. Don't know where PAV3 went...and I do fret over that periodically!
Tee-hee! I just sent joelgee an e-mail!
Good to know, Lola... I'm glad people keep in touch even if they aren't playing the grid...
you have his email?? well if you email him again tell him i said hi.
jera, send him another one! Tell him the babble girls are missing him! : D
I just went to the ranking page, found his name & clicked on his bio... it has an e-mail
just read your post Jera - thanks :)
good evening all,its a long one again then
We should ALL mail him!! LOL!
i can't see me finishing this one, i only have 60 words so far
That would make his day... or scare him to bits...
hi scatty : ) jera, that's a great idea! : )
somehow I don't think joel scares that easily... : )
stilll here, evanonut? you left the conference chat :-/
lol; you gals all trying to scare another guy now? ;-)
Ok back again....and not happy
Mikey, we're in IM. come join
i see no clues in the recent log...is everyone done or something? all my guests are gone now - back to babble.
oh dear, what's up faerie?
Don't be jealous, Mikey, there's plenty of attention to go around... ;>
afternoon all I am really stuck on the sa 6/27 any clues pls and ty
What's wrong, fellow faerie??
Cliff - I really still just starting sorry I'm of no help at all
jera, what is joelgee's address? is it in your profile or anything?
hi cliff : ) ...clues?...words?...oh yeah!
Hey cliff - it's been a pretty easy one so far *knock wood*
Jera-My "friend" John is an asshole.
sa6 most sa4
I think those who are working are quiet & the rest of us are playing, cliffopa... can I help you, hon?
Poor {{{faerie}}}
i am having no luck with the y words. anything would be appreciated :)
sa6 = most sa4/7
He doesn't like ANY of my friends and is very judgemental of others. I just can't handle it any longer. I lost my job because of us seeing each other and now it is just getting worse. I'm ready to bale out.
Do Any Of YoU GuYs KnOw HoW mAny WoRdS tHeRe ArE ToDaY??
ty jera
Bail, Faerie, bail...soon!
The y's include a hairy beast, sweater material, & longing...
203 words
203 total, Natasha
ThAnKs BuNcHeS!
Angela-thanks hon. I'm going to have to. I can't change who I am.
Actually, ya4/10 = plural hairy beasts of burden... ox-like with long horns...
ty jera - got those from your clues.
ya4 - animals like buffalo ya4 - you knit with it ya5 - pl ye4 - rhymes with not nice ye5 - pl ye4 - 365 days ye5 - to long for ye6 - pl ye4 - not nays ye5 - makes the bread rise ye4 - y + moose-like animal ye5 - pl
cliff, 12 months, what you knit with, wild shaggy haired oxen, to long for : )
Sounding a bit OJ to me...not good.
*bows low to hurshy's awesome clue-giving all in one fell swoop*
Angela - by the way I had my very own 1990 Fatboy up until John and I started dating and he thought it was to dangerous for me to ride any longer. Too much traffic ;\
oh, faerie... i'm sorry
{{{{faerie}}}} *lola sprinkles some of the faerie dust she saved from her last sprinkling on faerie*
Thanks Hurshy
*blush*
Thank you Lola *spinning in faerie dust* I think I might just smile :)
WRONG! My hubby hated the idea of me getting my own bike and my license last year, but he went to the class WITH me and helped every step of the way. It shouldn't be like that.
Angela - I know....I had that bike for 10yrs. and gone just like that.
faerie, that sounds more like a control issue than concern for your safety : /
I'm single after a long relationship and it has surprised me how much fun being single can be when there is no one to judge you. Bail and have some fun (after a pause for reflection)
I've had bikes since I was 25yrs old I'm soon to be 47 I think I'm old enough.
Well, that should be you then...gone...just like that, IMHO
OMG you guys are awesome clue-givers. all y's are done!
Oh faerie... to thine own self be true... don't let someone change you int eh name of love... you might not be you anymore if you let it go on too long!
Lola - it is a control issue. Totally. I can't stand it. Plus I have a really bad habit. I smoke. It drives him crazy.
Thank you everyone. I really needed to vent.
Does anyone have some clues to the R's
Huzzah for cliffopa! How are you doing in the evil ca section??
It sounds to me that even if you didn't smoke, he would find something that was wrong...
hey cliffy!
down to my last word and can't find it can i pls have a clue for the se 7/28
ok, there are too many r's to post 'em all...
Angela-he would think the with drawl was fake or something stupid like that. LOL
se7 - most se4
anytime faerie.
Hmm, I agree with jera. If you have to try to please someone all the time by being diferent from who you are then it's not the real thing.
se7/28 = most se4/4 just above...
at 47 surely it's up to you if you smoke or not (and ride a bike for that matter) we all know smoking is a bad habit (I'm a smoker too), but there comes a point of freedom of choice.
got 15 of the ca's early this morning from the UK babblers. even got the 9 letter one.
ra4,8 ra5,18 ra4,4 ra5,10 ra4,4 ra5,10 ra6,18 ra4,4 ra4,6 ra5,14 re4,4 re5,10 re4,4 re5,16 re6,27 re4,7 re5,14 re4,4 ry4,6 ry4,6 ry4,10 ry5,22

I was a ce9 baby, as were both of mine... so that one came pretty easily...
i never finish puzzles cliffy, it's stresses me out if i try
I can't be anyone but who I am. I am a free spirit and he is a stiff shirt. I'm just an old hippie through back and that's that. I love tie-die and baggy jeans and barefeet :)
i was having a c9 conversation at our party today. re-telling the story of when the dr. asked if i wanted bikini cut or the other. i said to the dr "does this body look like it will ever wear a bikini?" i had been thru 20+ hrs of induced labor and told him to just take the damned baby out as fast as he could!!!
Amen to that Ev. I think I've finished two :)
think i finishe 3 or 4 angela, i've enough stress, now sudoku is another story. something about empty boxes.
does anyone know any of the H's by any chance
ack cliff! i'm childless, scare me not!
My neurolgist forbade me to go into labor with my babies... but Gwyd was so anxious to come out & play, I went into labor the morning of my c-section... had to take those nasty drugs to stop labor...
I'm done and am going to play Sudoku, remember to be your self faerie and you won't go far wrong. See you tomorrow :)
The whole Sudoku thing never really thrilled me. NEver got it.
ha4 + healthy, as in ha4 & hearty... the other set is a bothersome thing (with a double consonant) & an alternate spelling ending
don't be scared nut - my sister barely made it to the hospital for her two girls. less that 4 hrs of labor, not even hard. i would do it all over again to get the son i have. he is the best think that ever happened to me.
ah...labor... icky until they gave me the lovely epidural
shouldn't worry, i'll probably never get to make one anyway, but you know what they say, practise, practise, practise.
thing! i mean thing! don't know how think got in there, because i can't often do that!

some of these words are crazy. the sn 4/6 for example. anyone ever heard that word before?
faerie, a gorgeous gal like you?? Not for long! Besides, you never have to try to tell yourself what to do while worrying about bruising your ego ; )
I'm trying to work the grid; didn't get to finish yesterday or even make the flip! We watched "Memoirs of a Geisha"; very good movie (Book was better of course)
well work chic, whatchu talking to us for? ;-)

shesshhh! I can do both!
okay chix, but if you don't finish, i'll stand you in the corner.

Okay, NOW I'm done with the C's. Geesh. I was missing the first three Ca6,9 and 10. Fortunately they were all related.

Judi, i'm a ballet dancer.....form your own conclusions :-P
Mikey has a firm tight butt.......from his ballet training
Okay, so you have the body of a (much younger) Nureyev (sp?).

Evening folks. ca6,9 & 10 are all related and refer to a Roman called Gaius Julius...
thanks jac! just started and now have all the c's in the first row
sa6/27 anyone?
i'm ignoring it, Gabbbyn.....busy talking with Heinrich here, drinking our tea, and i'm trying to come up with 101 more words!!! :-P
lol.....you've been doing that all day!!
thanks pine, jac
sa 6/27 = sa 4/7 meaning secure or a metal box you keep things in + plural consonant + letter in the alphabet after that. confused yet?
I should get off of here!! my butt is getting bigger....I can tell!! been sitting here maybe too long already
cliff- figured out your clue, thanks
not steadily, Gabbyn; on and off :-P
sa6/27 - most sa4/7.
glad i didn't confuse you peri - i almost confused myself :|
8-)
re6/27?
re 6/27 = guy on sports field that wears stripes (1st 3 letters) + last name of golfer ernie ***
I'm giving up mikey.....I maybe should stick to the other game
hey cliffy! who are they?
I goof off too much to do this one
who they nut? my pic or my clue?
gabbyn ...are you using one of the clue lists?
your pic silly cliffy
looks like mulder and scully to me ;)
re6/27 - verb form of re5 above it. Obsolete way to saying 'to disprove or refute'. Sounds more like someone chopping a tree down again.
cliff, don't know much about golf, just Tiger Woods :)
no..... I'm not......
not you i know
silly me yes. my son on the left and moi. we had a going-away party for him today. he is off to the usaf on wed.
Jacula, don't have the re5
** not usin a clue list pine....but have been on wayy too long today.....
wow! he's a handsome one. oh, and your hair is quite different from the other pic. looks good both ways though.
leslieann - it is so cool you said scully & mulder. we are both xfiles fans.
no, Gabbyn; don't give up yet.....i'm already doing a lot better on today's puzzle than i did on yesterday's; it's a matter of getting used to seeing the words, i think
love xfiles! we should have an xfiles day
well, your hair is especially cute. that's why i said it, cause your hair reminded me of hers
try using one of the clue lists...I find them fun when I get stuck on a puzzle or want to goof off
Is anyone else getting dupe and triplicates of every message?
Peri - re5 sounds a bit like you have tumbled down again. Or think of that stuff you spray on on holiday to re*** insects and change the middle consonant.
gabbyn, the "lickety's babble clues" link to the right is especially helpful
not today, eva, but i have had that problem before
nope. I get one copy. refresh your screen
i was going to mention my hair is not really straight. when we have no humidity i like to straighten it for something different. i like my curls, but i've had them 46 yrs. i like to shake it up a bit. thank you - my son is a handsome guy. and nice. and intelligent. and not a chauvanist. and still likes me.
Hi guys, I'm back, but much too late to play this grid, thank goodness
lmao....yeah....but it's almost 8pm here!! I haven't done anything at all today
Hi ExWren. Did you have a good time?
yeah, well, gabbyn, what do you think the weekends are for? i think they're for babbling.
consider it a restful, re-energize day Gabbyn...
and grey's anatomy. but that's it.
ah...if only i were single, dated an airforceman once.
It was brilliant, I don't think the host Male choir had ever heard anything like us, we knocked 'em dead!
what is the es word? i'm losing focus.
lmao.......I'll have to go get my kid on a lil while.......and the other ones are wanting the puter!!
fa5/28?
es + beginning of k 5 word ...that was the clue that helped me
peri - fa and something you open a lock with
builds off fa 4/11, peri
oh yeah!! grays anatomy is on tonight!! I keep forgetting to watch it!! but its a good show
ty leslieann :)
thanks cliff and Leslie, silly word
i've heard it used when they show skateboard competitions.
cr6/21?
cr6, what you use an iron to get out (or put in)
cr = something you make when you press slacks
cr6/21 - What Mum's sometimes iron down the front & back of the legs of jeans, much to their kids' horror.:-) Not me! Ever!
I need to iron my pants, they are ....
I'm finished. 203 words for 2451 points.
thanks everyone, found the cr6, kept trying to make it but just couldn't "see"it
caca :( i'm working backwards, just got to the ca's they are the re's for me today
41 words left to find, but I am quitting, see you all tomorrow.
good night peri!
have the longest ones from this morning's chats with the UK peeps. man! this ca list is awful
I'm having trouble with fa 5/16. Any help?
I did most of the grid on paper today, as I've been out.
stid. Is it really TRUE that you can't find it? or the opposite?
stidmatt - fa5/16 - opposite of true fa5/16 - obsolete word for to roll up & secure (as of a flag).
The first one, it is a little hard.
stidmatt are you related to stidmama?
Thanks, Jacula.
I'm back.
LeaslieAnn - I was wondering that, too.
Yes, I am related to Stidmama. She's my Mom.
Oops! First a spurious apostrophe in 'mums' and now I've stuck an extra 'a' in Leslie's name. Sorry!
ah, she pulled you in, huh? how are you liking it?
Stidmatt-Welcome to our madness.
ahhhhh im holding mt 8 week old grandson he is sooooooooooooo cute i wanna kiss his face off
Mickey are you still here?
Yes, she introduced me to this game. It's pretty fun.
Shorty - I want to hold him...awwwwwww
careful, shorty, you can get in trouble for that ;)
ok here you go
lol leslie
118 words so far.....and i still haven't found even 1 'AK' word :-/
I think he just pooped. *grin*
there's ak words? oh dear.
ja, faeriekae; why? do you yahoo, btw?
oh man heres his diaper and wipes
apparently, LeslieAnn :-/ haven't found 1 yet, though
Mikey-there you are ak +2nd vowel + stick letter + 1st vowel then make plural for next word
stidmatt -- have you found those fa words? thanks guys for helping him out... i get to hold the baby when he's cleaned up!
Mikey - yes I do.
The 'ak' words - Think of the Cub Scouts' leader or the leader of the wolf pack in The Jungle Book...
ok - All clean and fresh. Smells like Baby powder now :)
so is your guys' last name a variant on stid? i always thought mama was making a word play on stidmata (although i guess stidmatt works for that too)
mmmmmmm smells good
Stidmama - *hands baby over*
yep -- last name is on our website, linked from angelsong's page.... don't want to publish it too obviously!
It's the beggining, but the end is a secret.
i've added you, faeriekae.....anyhow, thanks; but that clue didn't work for me? :-/
oh that's ok! just wondering where the name came from.
oooh -- baby sweet! baby pretty! baby goo-goo gaga! *hugs baby with happy smile* :-)
you have to give him baaaack soon i miss him
Mikey - ak + 2nd vowel + l + 1st vowel
we also wonder where the name came from... there are many variations, first one to this continent came from Sweden in the mid 1600s, but wasn't of scandinavian ancestry -- that's all we know!
okay shorty, but when your arms are tired... *hands pretty baby back* tell the mama "well done!"
wow, faeriekae; i aready tried that the first time, and it didn't work, but now when i tried it again, it did! :-o thanks! :-)
your welcome (*^_^*)
who knows stidmama? my last name is the name of a dutch town, but no one we know of in our ancestry is dutch *shrug*
Good job remembering Mom!
i'm finally done with those tiresome ca's. 9 left. all a's. i can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
*giggle* we also know of "dutchified" scottish names on my side of the family... donkers = duncanse which is dutch for "son of duncan"!
go cliffopa go!
Howmany a words are there today?
alright, I give!! I'll try tomorrows puzzle......when do they start the new one?
203 words today.
ok stidmama here ya go hes hungry u can feed him
midnight central time, gabbyn
And, there is a town that has the same sound in Modern day Poland, and possible cousins, but they aren't my ancestors, besides they're from about the same time period that we have traced back to!
oh no! those stopped working 9 years ago! where's the bottle!
Thanks, Jacula. How many strt with A?
depends probably who was working that at Ellis Island on how some names came into being...
okay sweetie, back to the puzzle. how many words do you have so far?
oh noooooooooooooooooo
does anyone know how many words tonight?
I think the creators of the puzzle could've backed down on the hot stuff to eat!
19 A words by my count, playwoman

shorty, baby's falling asleep and the formula in the bottle is nearly gone -- should I try to burp him, or?
'Night to all who are going. Sorry for delay - I was playing a game on another site. Playwoman - You're not bugging us. Half the fun of the game is giving clues.
Bye Mikey and Gabbyn. Just finished the S's. On to the F's now. Yish.
Gabbyn good night sweetie.
yes burp him watch out his burb will blow you out the door
ca7/32 - an enzyme that is formed by some bacteria, that decomposes casein, and that is used in ripening cheese.
Gut nacht to everyone who is leaving.

leslieann i remember a clue or two from you too
Hi everyone!
hi mrp!
*~*~*~*FIREWORKS OFR CLIFFOPA*~*~*~*~
Hi Jeffer & MrP.
fair enough, jeffer, but i've only got 77 so far so i won't be able to give clues for much!
Sorry! *for Cliffopa. Trying to multi-multi-task! LOL.
ca5/16 - 1. A traveling amusement show; a carnival. 2. One who works with a carnival.
hello, i'm new to this game
well, i'm off to finish up the after-party cleaning. happy babbling and see ya on the flip side :)
re5/16 - scroll back a page or two. I gave clues then.
hi Jac (sorry) thanks - and we're off!
hi cait
Need clue for last Fe5/16.
judi, like a wild cat?
judi have you tried a word for "gone wild" as domestic pets do sometimes?
Nope, Leslie. Have that one.
did you plural the last fe 4?
ty again jacula got the re 5
fe5/16 f + ea4/4 (rest or leisure) fe5/16 - a sumptuous meal fe5/16 (pl. of the fe4 before it) - episodes of derring do or heroics. fe5/16 - wild, like cats.
Last fe4 ends in a duplicate consonants. Can't pluralize and still be a 5 letter word.
203 words 4.67 2451 FINISHED!
whoa mr. p you're quick. congrats!
YAY mrp!
I have been on and off this puzzle for 18 hours!!
Thank you , Jacula. I was looking for the first clue on your list. Done with the F's. Now onto the L's. Ah, the punishment just never seems to end.
well, ok. you are thorough, then.
fr 5/16 the first please?
hey everyone!
oops no got that fr sorry
fe 5/16 has to do with insects.
in between cooking, sleeping, watching the football and the golf and the tennis.... I think I did ok to have it finished by now...! It is nearly 11am and time for tea!!
first fr 5 i have is sassa*****
(((Owl!)))
ra 6/18 a hint please
Sorry, didn't mean fe, meant fr.
*~*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR MRPRES*~*~*~*~
I am babbled by both of the 'ak' words. I assume one is a plural of the other perhaps?
To tumble and play a little violently.
yup, merk. ak + **** fitzgerald, - one L
ra 6 rhymes with ha6
ra6/18 - To engage in wrestling or wrestle with. Rhymes with ha6/21 (to pester).
thanks mrP and jacula - did NOT think that a word!
nice to see you, mr. P! and jacs! and studmama! and cliff! and leslie ann! and everyone!!! only 49 to go!
whoops! sorry stidmama! bad typist!
stidmatt -- when you give a clue, let people know which word it's for, give the first two letters and the letter count/total points ==> ra 6/18
Thanks. Any clue for the "al" 4,10 would be appreciated.
nah, that's right. she is a stud. right mama?
hi TempleOwl! didn't see you come in -- i'm concentrating on my last ca -- the c/36 that comes after the 7/32... monkeytyping isn't working for me :-(
Nevermind, I got it. Sorry to bother.
that's right --- stud! I can support any wall you need!
woot for me! Done it without having to grovel for clues or use that nasty a2z site!!!! <looks smug>
congrats dachef!
YAY dachef! *look of wonder at dachef's great accomplishment*
Well done, Dachef.
Got to be back in work in a coupla hours (have only been home for one hour), so anyone need one of my notriously crappy clues before I try unsuccessfully to sleep?
Dachef - I'm okay, thanks. Done.
Jacula -- when did you done?
stidmatt, time for supper!
later, all!
well done, dachef! jacs - how have you been?
bye stidfamily!
laters, Stidmama, and on that rather yawnful note, my nice warm bed beckons (its 2:15 am here), so I'll bid you all farewell, and see you tomorrow!
bye dachef
I got finished a while ago now, Stidmama. 'Bye stid family! See you later. Owl - I've been fine, thanks. How about you?
'Bye Chef! See you again.
bye to all stids! bye, dachef! i need clues please to the big c words...
salads and c-sections, temple
ca6, 9 & 10 all refer to that Roman, Gaius Julius...
got the 8 & ( thanks! and i have the pot for coffee or water
ca6 & pl. ca7 also hold wine!
LOL.
Hi everybody. I'm too lazy to look for an icon. So it's still shoes for me.
ca7/32 - used in making cheese. A 'ca' you pack to go on holiday + and ea4 (leisure or rest) without the first letter.
Smithchick. Hi. Didn't play yesterday; no time. Was busy grocery shopping and then having quality time with O/H, we watched 'Narnia'. But I had some great kinky boots saved for icons....
Good evening, everyone -- just in from a day of golf and back for my last few "stinkers"
hi smoth! thanks jac! i had picked out disco shoes with goldfish in the heels - but they didn't show up very well
I'm a very conservative person for the most part (religion, politics, dress, makeup, etc.), but I like the hoochie mama shoes. My feet are still relatively skinny, unlike the rest of me, so they still look cute in strappy heels.
hi nan
Too funny, TO... I've never seen anything like that!
Hi, cybernan!
Temple - I remember those goldfish shoes coming out in the 70s AND the hue and cry about the cruelty of it.
Obviously Enable doesn't have a lhasa apsa (o?).
yes - now they are made with artifical fish. i long for a 60's day - psychedelia...and a disco day
brb - laundry
we're back -- hi smithchick, nan!
Hey, stid... Have you multiple personalities?
I am down to 7 words. can someone clue me for ca 6/36 that comes after the ca 7/32? it's just not happening for me!
sweetie, say hi to smithchick!
Hi Smithchick!
:-D *proud mama look*
ca6/36 - the ca4 you pack for your holidays + a small buzzing insect without its middle.
HI, stidmatt... I was a little concerned for a second there... but only a second.
thanks, Jacula! that just didn't come easy...
ive got Ca7 and Se7 -- hints on the other 7?
there are 2 ca 7...
two ca 7's
Hi Temple :)
ive got Ca7/44 -- something beverages are served in
ca7/44 and ca7/32
Oh my goodness. My computer was stuck on when TO came in and I thought noone had noticed here. *blush*
faeriekae my sweet!
{{{Tamara}}}}
How the Hell are you?
Any luck?
No :(
faeriekae -- please! my boy's listening!
new job going well. A bit bored at the moment. But will be wonderful. The lack of stress is monumental.
ANything I can do?
EVERYONE I would like you to meet my very best friend in the whole wide world. We grew up childhood friends. Meet. Tamara27 (*^_^*)
hi tamara!
*bows* to the Babble world...
hello Tamara! how did you weather the recent storms?
I apoligize for the profanity...
No damage. Beautiful lightening!
hi faeriekae! welcome. tamara!
so good to hear! I like lightening -- from a distance!
Do you have your wind chimes up?
Hi all. I love this game...but I keep forgetting about it. *sigh*
Any clues on the Sn words?
"yarf" should SO be a word...its what i do when im nauseous!!
Yup. I have these six foot Penatonic scale Chimes.
ha 6/21? -- have the one that means to give a hard time
Hi, faerie... Nice to meet you, tamara!
Tamara - go the Angelsongs Resource page and find in links 2wrd letter list. check out lickitys it works great for me.
never mind -- got it!
7 a's to go --- after supper :)
(((Smith))) still have your heels on. Don't your feet hurt hon? LOL
I'm short so I like my heels! Too lazy to search for my other icon. Just got to get back on here a little while ago.
dun dun dun DONE
yay stid!
Stidmama CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Well done, Stidmama!
Oh, back at ya {{{{{Faerie}}}}}! No pain no gain with the heels, you know.
sn 4/6: sn + first two letters of the opposite of "no" sn5 is plural
yay, stidmama!
WooHoo, stidmama!!!!! YAY, stidmatt!!!! (are you working together or separately?)
Cybernan. Hi! Didn't see you come in. (I'm multi-tasking.) The other ha word has the last 2 letters reversed.
i make him work for all his points!
How old are you, stidmatt?
Tamara - I bet your chimes sound beautiful in the wind or did you have to take them down?
I'm in my first year of being a teenager.
That ha6 is a Norwegian surname, think writer Sven. I've no idea why Enable allows it.
12? or 13? My son is 13 but I still have a hard time thinking of him as a teenager!
Surely thirTEEN is the 1st teenaged year?
oh, he's a teen, all right! and growing... needed new clothes again yesterday!
Jacula's right.
I leave them up all year. They have a really deep tone and it takes a lot of wind to move them. 30 mile gusts and above will make them move.
My 11 yr. old daughter is like that. She's gone through about three sizes in the last four months.
I give clues to my age! I'm getting good at this game! Hee hee!
My 13 yr. old son doesn't grow very quickly. He is very small for his age.
LOL, stidmatt!
No kidding. I know they are loud from when you were sitting outside talking to me on the phone. But they sound beautiful. Cathy Wesly just bought some...well she bought them back in Oct. but they are still in the trunk of her car because she isn't ready for Bill to know that she has them. LOL
Actually, your thirteenth year, is the year between your 12th birthday and your thirteenth birthday.
Good thinking Tamara! Yes, I'm thirteen.
LOL, Faerie! That is my mother's favorite strategy...or she'll hide things in plain sight in her closet. My dad says she has ownamania...
Only 2 hours left! Eek!
Tamara - Hello, don't think we've talked before. I guess you age depends on whether you count it from conception. In which case, we are all around 9 months older than our 'offical' age.
3 hours, matt... it's on central time
give me hints!!!!!!!! please ;)
Okay boys and girls, I am tird. It was nice talking to you all. Maybe tomorrow I will start earlier. FK, I will talk to you later this week....T
what do you need help with Kyle?
Kyle - If you want hints you will have to be more specific about what you want hints for.
Smith-It is wild she is shop-acholic and she will buy stuff and sit out and if hubby ask is that new she just says no because its been her trunk for a week or longer. The chimes were pretty pricey so she is really holding off on them. so funny.
tamara, nice to meet you -- hope to see you often!
Night Tamara!
Love Ya T {{{{XXX}}}} Goodnight.
Me too! Now that I am not working 60 hour weeks!`
'Bye Tamara. See you again.
YEAH
thanks. but im fine my sister came to the rescue(shes good at this) ;)
Bye, tamara!
Kyle - who is you sister? Do we know her on Babble?
bye, tamara!
smithchick -- our 13 year old was really small for his age for a long time, turned out to be partly stress... he sorta stopped growing when he started school and started up again when we brought him home to learn a couple years later!
no but she is really good at this and is only 11(very good) ;)
And boy were those the years! THEY WERE GREAT! HOMESCHOOL! Boo-Yah!
lol this kid cracks me up :)
but then, most of my family is really small -- and only a few people on his father's side are tall (no one more than 6 foot, though)!
Faerie, she sounds just like my mother! Cracks me up. I usually tell my hubby on the phone when he's been gone a few days and he misses me. He gets mad over the phone, but by the time he comes home, he wants to be sweet at first so he doesn't say anything. Then when he brings it up and tries to get mad I inform him that he already got mad about that and he doesn't get to get mad again. It works pretty well and I don't have to hide anything! (limited space)
Well, I applaud your patience and stidmatt's diligence. If I tried to homeschool mine, one of us would suffer grave injury at the hands of the other! :)
Smith - LOLOL that is too good. You are the master. Bar none. My friend Cathy's hubby works from home so that wouldn't work out very well for her.
do note that they are no longer homeschooled -- my health got in the way, so we put them back in school a couple years ago (where they are dong fine!).
oops, meant *doing* my fingers are tired...
I don't have to hide anything. I live alone. So YEAH for being single. *grin*
I'm off to my games site for a while. BBL if anyone wants any clues. Mind you, must say that one thing that p**s me off on that site is that US citizens earn Walmart vouchers and that we in UK, whilst earning them, cannot use them! GRRR!
LOL, Faerie!!! A definite benefit, I'd say. I guess I get benefits from both because I'm single every two weeks and married every two weeks.
Bye, Jacula!
Bye Jacula!
Which site can you win WalMart vouchers on?
Faerie - Don't say you live alone or Max will be v. upset!
Smith - on Grab.com.
Jacula - You are sooooo correct. I can't believe I said that. He is laying on his pillow sleeping now right beside me. awwwwww.
night, jacula! see you tomorrow!
Well, since most of our income is spent at Wal-Mart, I'll have to check that out. If I ever finish this one.
im back! awww i miss them already
Hey, shorty...Who are you missing? Was our eye candy on here earlier?
I only have 96 words Smith lol. I know I'm not finishing. I'm going to put my boy Max to bed and then I'm going to dream land myself so good night all :)

ty SM
Awww.... I babysat my three nephews for the weekend. With my three kids I had 2,7,8,11,11, and 13. Fun, fun getting them all to church this morning.
English is getting on my nerves. It is so inconsistent!
truer words never spoken, matt
oh my yeah i had to help my daughter get het kids ready she went to church with me 8weeks and 15 months
and now I say how did I ever do it with 6 kids!
Any clues on the sk words? Because I know skies won't fit.
sk + what you hear out of, change r to n
Thanks LeslieAnn!
Good evening!!
Yeah, my mother had six daughters. My father was in the military and was gone two years sometimes. We were stair-steps. She did everything with us by herself.
oh bless her heart
yw
Hey, knut! How is your darling baby girl?
hi knutmeg! How's Liv?
she's doing well. eating right now :-) went to the mall today, tuckered her out
All grey!!!!
yay nan!
cr6/21, please? hi knutmeg and liv!
glad you got out -- it was hard for me to get out and about when I had our first newborn... i was so tired all the time! and worried about germs and things. with the second, we got out a lot more -- partly 'cause you just can't stay home all the time with a 3 year old!
WooHoo, NAN!!!!!
YAY nan!
cr 6/21: to make a fold in something, or to wrinkle
my lovely lovely husband took a turn at baby duty last night so I got 7 hours of sleep, and I was climbing the walls, so we decided to get out. Tried out our new stroller, had some lunch, wandered a bit. It was pretty fun. Gorgeous day, too. :-)
Thanks Cybernan and Mom!
thanks, nan! : )
I was wondering y taser wasn't a word:(
I thought it had been accepted before, Freckle, but apparently not.
Anyone want a clue before I go and tackle my kitchen?
i thought so too. maybe it is laser it takes
Possibly because Phaser is from Science Fiction and is in real life a proper noun. A company.
oh you're right matt, it is like Kleenex - proper noun although everyone knows it for the catch-all
Oh well, so much for procrastination -- I tried!! -- see you at the flip :)
:) bye nan!
Bye, cybernan...Have I ever mentioned that I loathe a's?
Bye nan!
so do we all, smith!
oh, 7 hours of sleep -- must have felt like heaven! I think i'm still making up for the paucity of REM time... we got out today too -- first weekend of the local farmer's market; my mother came along and we had a blast. AND it didn't rain while we were there!
bye nan!
ca7 please anyone? already have the ca7/44.
well son -- time to give your computer a break. Say good night to all the nice people, and tell us how many words and points you got!
Sounds fun knut and stid!
well i guess im done am going to go to bed i guess cant find anymore words
ca 7/32: the previous ca 4/4 - e + ea 4/4 meaning rest
ca7/32 - is a combination of ca4/5 (what you pack your clothes in) plus anagram of sea.
hmmm hi
Bye Y'all, see you later or tomorrow (definately)!
good night shorty, thanks for sharing the baby with us!
Bye shorty! Hi Haz and racquelle!
oh you are so welcome
hello
Bye stidmatt!!
Hello smithchick - sorry to miss you shorty!
I'm going to take a break, too, and spend time with the kids before they go to sleep. BBL!
nite stidmama!
good night stid family! nice to meet you, matt.
ty haz... what the heck does it mean??? WoW!
It's apparently an enzyme used to ripen cheese.
done!
YAY, Leslie!!!!!!!!!!
I have 27 left to find. In 11 minutes I'm going to break out the list.
no list yet smith?? that is impressive.
What's significant about 11 minutes?
bye, shorty bye, stidmatt and stidmama! hi, haz and raq!
Hello Temple Owl!
I am having a tough time with the two "sk" words. Any suggestions please?
When it is 10:00 my time. By the time it posted, a it was really 10 minutes more.
A thing of yarn spelled with a different second vowel. then the plural.
sk + what you hear with, change r to n
I'll be back...I'm going to go digging for clues in the log before I look at the list.
sk5 - worn by Scotsmen as part of Highland dress, it's the dagger tucked into their sock.
I'm back. sk 5 & plural 6. A double-edged dagger formerly used in Ireland and Scotland.
Hi Haz! You're up early/late. Is hubby off on a call?
cafe, please don't post words in the log. some people like to guess.
Cafe Vinta - Please do not post words in the log.
Thanks a bundle of yarn!
Hi, Jacula - no, too much cheese has caused me to have a gall bladder flare up and I'm using babble as distraction from the discomfort!
Haz - Oh dear! Painful. What will counteract it? I can't think right now. I have to watch how much garlic I eat as I have naturally low b/p and garlic lowers b/p.
that's ok, cafe. you a newbie?
Okay Cafe Vinta. Mind you, even part of your name is a grid word today. LOL. In general,on here, we hint and tip and clue. Even last minute, we star letters out so as not to give the whole word.
From past experience it will subside eventually. I've just got to be careful about how much dairy I eat.
well, just ask if you have any questions. it's a friendly bunch.
The only "ta" I can find is what happens to me when I'm in the sun. I must be getting sleepy. I'm finding nothing tonight. Time is slipping away and I hear my bed calling.
Ineed help with the last fe5/16. Any hints?
merk, if something is dirty you could say it is ta**ished... that's a 4 and 5
dan score mo?
like a wild cat, meg
Merk - one of the ta words is an anagram of 'late' - quite appropriate for how you're feeling..
Thanks, Lesllie!!
37
379
haaay im so bored...
Thanks, Haz, but what of the other?
Haz - I had to avoid alcohol (no prob at 7/10 yrs of age!), dairy products etc., for about 3 years after I got hepatitis (yellow jaundice) as a child. Even now, too much of any of those and my liver aches. That's why, even though I'm a rare blood group (only 8% of population have it), I'm not a blood donor, although my blood is clear of hepatitis or anything else, my low blood pressure makes it almost impossible to get out anyway.
all right, i'm off, folks... (maybe) see you at the flip
Merk - don't forget to pluralise that ta.
'Bye LeslieAnn - see you another night.
My O/H has almost got his gold card now though on the blood donating front.
I did and then I rhymed with a different word someone gave me and I got it. Thanks Haz.
It's a nuisance having to be careful, isn't it? I avoid garlic like the plague because of the smell!
Good, Merk - have you been re-energised?
Haz - re the garlic - if we are going to eat it, we both eat it. However, if you have to meet 'the public' then eat parsley afterwards.
Jacula - now you know why I'm awake at this hour - what is your excuse?
ja, Haz; you're an hour behind us, so you're up early too! (woke up, bathroom trip, checking game board, seeing if i can throw in a few words while i drink a glass of water, then heading back to bed) :-P
Haz - what's my excuse? A few early nights almost in a row. I'm a night owl at heart. Not wanting to disturb O/H either, since I stayed up to watch The South Bank Show and he has to be up by 5.20am. Also, O/H is the most active sleeper I've ever slept with! Oh, that sounds bad! But you know what | mean?
Hi, mikey. I'm not awake by choice - over-indulgence in cheese has left me in some 'digestive discomfort'!
Jacula - arms flailing, pinwheel turning, that sort of thing?
ja; that will do it, Haz.....dairy products are not at all appropriate for our bodies, and can do a lot of harm :-/ i don't go near them, or any other animal products; but, hope you feel much better soon!
Hi Mikey, Having read all that stuff where the girls were lusting after you earlier on in the chat log, I feel the need to stick 'Hey Mickey' by Toni Basil on the Babble jukebox. LOL.
oh brother, Jacula; that's not still around, is it??? :-/ sheesh.....and my nickname's Mikey, not 'Mickey' :-P
wla bang counterstrike d2?
I am still missing a "le" 4,4 word. On the Lickety list it is seven or eight, depending on the one I have above or below it. I know I am describing this terribly. It is below what a bad pipe can be and above what I do using a cane.
Thanks, Mikey!
i'll never finish this; only 151 words now :-P
para mas exciting
ne hints for sk6?
The le4/4 you're looking for begins and ends with the same letter.
ja, Merk; you've totally lost me there :-P
Haz - Yes, the things you said plus giggling, muttering, yelling, tooth-grinding (AAARGH!) and smacking me in back of head with flailing elbow. Oh, and pinching duvet and going off to other side of king-sized bed with bottom sheet. I do love him. Honest!
sk6 - plural of sk 5 - double edged Scottish dagger. Add body part that listens but change the r to an n and then pluralise.
That is the seventh word in my list. Then I am missing the 4,4 below it. If I've placed it right. There are two 4,4 in a row.
Mikey - I know your nick, but it's still short for Michael, I assume? LOL.
oh, say; if any of you love playing Literati, yahoo's version of 'Scrabble', then add me to your yahoo messengers with my username you see here.....always looking for game partners to connect with from time to time, and form some multiplayer games on yahoo's site!
ja; of course it is, Jacula.....but i'm never called 'Mickey'! :-P
got all 203
Are you looking for the shakesperian le4/4?
Haz, are you still with me? I have the 'le' word you described. It is the other le 4,4 word next to it in the lickety list that I am missing.
oh my, Jacula; if Heinrich slept like that, he'd sleep alone forevermore! :-P
Huh? Shakesperian? I haven't read him since I don't know when. The King? I have the king.
Heinrich, Mikey? Does that mean you're disappointing the girls on here and making them sigh and say, What A waste?' LOL. Not being nasty. It matters not to me. I take people for what they are.
The two 4/4 (le) together are the le (ending as beginning) and le (meat or verb to incline against).
hey everyone! i got booted out with only one word to go! X 'P last ca - i believe it's a 5?
Do you hear the gnarling and gnashing of teeth? I found it. I had one misplaced. Boy, does that clear things up. What a way to start a week!
hmm; i don't think i'm a 'waste', Jacula.....and Heinrich sure doesn't, either! ;-)
the only other le4/4 you might be missing is a plural.
Merk - glad you got there in the end!
that doesn't mean you lose the list you've already got, does it, Temple Owl?
Mikey - I don't think you're 'a waste' either. But you must realise what girls means when they say that? LOL.
grrrrr; long ways off.....only 155 words :-/
ca5/24 - describes the containing ca4 before it
Temple - I think you're looking for a really silly ca6/24 - barrelly!
no, mikey - that's one good thing about this game - you can work it when you have time and it keeps your list
well, Jacula; i do, but.....it's not a waste to a guy like Heinrich! ;-) lol
I doubt 'barrelly' is a word, but that ca6 shouln't be either.
oh very cool, Temple Owl; that's good to know! so, even if you sign out and back in? i just left myself signed in for the last few hours while i was asleep, 'cos i feared losing it!
mistress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Mikey - I read earlier that you are a dancer. What sort od dance? Ballet, or the Michael Flatley sort of stuff, or that tub-thumping hunks stuff or what?
DONE! yay! hi rennie!
Hello!
Ren!!! Hello servant.
Well done, Temple Owl!
**F**I**R**E**W**O**R**K**S** for t-owl!!!!!
Well done, Temple!
hi gromit!
Gromit - where's Wallace?:-)
hello mistress! i have missed you the past few days!
What about the "ka" 5,18 please
Renny!!!!!!! :-D
hey mikey!
i finished friday and yesterday and my rank stayed the same!!!
(((((hugs))))) Renny!!! :-)
ka5/18 is an alternative spelling of the diamond measuring ca5/12
Hi temple. Hi Jacula. Wallace is eating having a spot of Stilton I believe
Ren - I did say 'Boo!' to you on MSN on Fridaynight but you were too busy catching insects to see me there.
how are you today mikey? i've been working all day.
yes, Jacula.....ballet; i'm also a vocalist, and perform in musical theatre
LOL mistress! mama bear was giving me flys!
half asleep, Renny; it's only 5:29 am, and i woke up to make a bathroom trip and get a glass of water, and thought i'd try to throw in some more words :-P lol
nothing like the shoofly pie you make for me though!
Yup, I knew that! Thanks for the refresher.
Finished! What a lot of words!
Ren - that's cheating! You are not supposed to pick flies off Mama's winter hide!
gee ren - that 's awful! you know ididn't go out at all on saturday - too tired!
LOL mikey - that's what happens to us all in babblelonia
hmm; guess i'll end up with no rank, 'cos i usually won't have much time for this! :-P
Any clues for the 8 and 9 letter words?
Gromit - If you have the 10-letter word then you have one of the 9's.
Congratulations Deb! ^*^*^*^*FIREWORKS^*^*^*^*^*
ca5 help?
i have Renny on msn too :-)
t=owl - i had to (gasp) do the grocery shopping saturday.... 8-( sorry mistress.....
way to go, deb!
ne ak5 help
plz! ne one!
:-\ I meant the 9 and 10 letter words.
Freckle - can you be more specific about what ca5 you are looking for?
*Sits back and waits for Gromit to spill mug of tea and accidentally pull wrong levers as the realisation that there is a 10-letter word hits home...*
i might as well give up; still only 155 words.....i'll never finish this! :-/ *sigh*
**F**I**R**E**W**O**R**K**S** for bed!!!!!!!!
Whew! I just finished going through only about a third of the list and it took me forever! On the positive side, I got 12 more words than I had. I'm down to 15! Time to break out the list!
eeeeeewwwwwwwww! but i still had no get up and go today - need an easter outfit and although i starved and walked 5 miles, i don't think i can go down a size by nexy sunday!
ren! I've missed you, although others have reported sightings. Come back when you can Mikey; you seem like a nice person, and you know the rankings are not as interesting as the game and the chat.
it's ok mikey..it's the fun.. jacula is the mistressof the dark...and i'm her humble servant renfield..8-)
I am almost finished, but there are those buggers ... ca 9,60 and 10,77. Are they compound words, or what?
ca9/60 and 10/77 - operation performed on pregnant woman
ak 5 & 6 words, as I said before. Think Cub Scouts' master or the leader of the wolf pack in 'Jungle Book'.
hey mab!!! i keep looking for you as well. i saw a painting of MAB in women of mythology last night!
ca9 & 10 come from the ca6 before. Roman emperor, Gaius Julius Ca****.
awwwww; thanks, Mab! :-) and of course they're not; the chat's what makes this *so* much fun.....i don't really care about score, in Literati either.....it's just a lot of fun to play and chat and joke around with my game partners! :-D
Merk - see hint below, or Roman emperor plus ending of sk word.
already got the 10 and 12 leter words haha
oh; then who can i be, Renny? ;-) lol
freckle: see 10:24 for ca5 clues
Aha! Thanks for the hints Haz and Jacula!!
Well, good for you, Axe. Maybe you will join most of th rest of us in having got all the words shortly.
You're welcome, gromit.
Ah, like the surgery! Thanks you. I'd never have gotten it by myself. What friends!
ye6/24?
hmmm mikey....you are our mystery right now....8-)
Glad to help, Merk. How many more to go?
Mikey - You will have to be Van Helsing.
i'm a mystery, Renny? why's that? :-/
ye6/24 - longs for (y plus ea5/10)
whomever you choose, mikey, although on general principles I would advise against servitude (although it works for Jac and ren. I am mab sleepy jewish queen of the faeries. But those damned faeries just do as they please. you might say i'm neither a leader nor a follower.
ren: lola and nut were plying him with champers earlier
why Van Helsing, Jacula?
lol, mab; i'm sure i don't even know what that's even about! :-P
Oh Haz! It's just so obvious sometimes!! **blushing**
120 words to go. I'd better hustle!
well mikey...i know you're a rambo for kicking off those bad dudes yesterday...LOL...we talked about that!
go philippines!!!!
Mikey - because I see you as some kind of vanquisher type film hero, However, if you'd rather be one of the flying ones, you could do that, too. Incidentally, you still haven't answered my q about what kind of dancing you do.
what is a van helsing? removal company?
gromit - they're only obvious once you see them!
are you 'tikvaeve' on yahoo, mab?
I was using the wrong C, that's why I had problems - I used ca6,30 with the 'wrong' one
oh, but indeed i *did* answer your question, Jacula! check the archive ;-)
LOL mab...yes van helsing did remove many vampires! (also very good looking foe!!)
lol mab! hi harpjane! : ( everyone's here and now i have to go....
calling all knuts...
Mab! What (or rather who) is Van Helsing? Have you never watched or read anything about Dracula?
Bye Owl!!
Bless you all, I am finished! I think there should be bells and whistles when we finish so we know we are.
Freckle - did you get the ak words?
Bye Temple Owl....
nite t-owl...see you later!
Great job Merk!!
*rings bell* *blows whistle* yay, merk!
G'night all. See you tomorrow.
Merk - well done, first of all. And yes, we all agree that there should be something spectacular to recognise our achievement. Some of the players are good at improvising, though.
ach; my cat just horked up a hairball on the rug! :-/
hey ren, mikey - did you have a troll attack friday night?
Mikey - Sorry, I've been back now and seen that you did indeed answer me. Ballet and also a vocalist.
Umm...eewww...
LOL mikey! ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Poor kitty!
Mikey - cats tend to do that when they feel you are not giving them the attention they feel they are entitled to.
I tune back in just in time for horked up hairballs!
27 left...
LOL, Smithchick.
mikey - mab does ballet and yoga, she wants to learn to tap dance so she and i can do a dance routine!
ta5/10? Please??
great going smith! good timing!
Haz - I love you to bits though not even met you yet, but let go and give the next winner *~*~*~*FIREWORKS*~*~*~* PLEASE!
Well, I'm reading about all of your talents. I have none. Now I'm horribly depressed. I don't think "you're such a good listener" counts in the grand scheme of things.
t-owl - yes....and yesterday as well. van helsing booted their behind
There are two, both plurals of the preceding ta 4/ One is an anagram of 'late', the other an anagram of ra4/4 - a lake, I think
Smithchick - if it wasn't for good listeners most of us would be dead by now!
I am repressed, aren't I. Okay, I'll study the format and try to do better next time.
way to go, mikey! ren - how did they get to your table? it was private
TY haz! How about se7/28?
amen & mazel tov to that mistress - we need good listeners smith!!!
TY, Jacula...But couldn't I listen well and also dance and be artistic and play musical instruments too?
i think we were waiting on mama to get back in - her computer kept burping
gromit: a superlative
se 7/28 is a superlative for se4/4 - or you could look at it as 'shore leave'
smith - get mab to spinkle some faerie majik on you and you can do it all!!!!
Smithchick, my pet, you can do anything you want on the net! :-)
TY Haz and Owl!! 7 minutes... Ahhhhh!
That's a good plan...How 'bout it mab? Please? I'm in desperate need of fabulous talent!
Oh, this is exciting. I've never been on at the flip before....
se5/12?
Done! Night, all! :-)
une! congrats!
se 5/12 is a Hebrew word - seen in some of the Psalms.
oh wait! Or is it an hour and 7 minutes until the flip?
Haz - LOL. I must get you on my MSN. You, me and Ren wuld make a great nattering 3-some.
It's an anagram of ha5/12
Well one thing I can do is finish this grid!!! Congrats to you, Une!!!!!!!!!!!
Woohooo Un!!!
Haz - don't get too excited yet. 'Cos unless their clock hasn't changed the flip happens at 6am here, and I make it 4.56am on my comp.
anyone know tomorrow's theme?
Hold on, I have to get fireworks constructed for Uneaixoise *****##*****##F I R E W O R K S ##****###
**F**I**R**E**W**O**R**K**S** for everyone who has finished!!!!!! (sorry i missed it!!)
*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR UNE*~*~*~*
severe weather
Thanks! :-D
So I'm not going to be at the flip after all? Just as I was getting my fingers poised for a new grid!
flip is in 1 hr and bout 2 minutes
Smithchick sits patiently waiting for her fireworks...
Haz - those were great fireworks. Loud, and those crackerjack things chased me around the yard a bit, but they were good.:-)) WELL DONE.
TY Haz! Had to monkey it, but I got it!
Did you finish smithchick?
*~*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR SMITHCHICK*~*~*~*~
!!###**F**I**R**E**W**O**R**K* *S** !!### for smith
ca 6/30 and ca7/44?
Smitchchick, on the occasion of your having completed babble grid number 1111 I am pleased to present you with *~*~* F I R E W O R K S *~*~*
TY, TY!! Cause I wasn't above giving my own self fireworks...If I could figure out how!
WELL DONE, Haz!:-))))))))))
ca6/30 and the 7 are containers for wine
Yeah smithchick!! **********###### ####FIREWORKS########*********
ca6/30- a thing you pour stuff out of.
Thank you, Jacula!
Mind you, Haz. That was terribly formal. Can I come over to Ireland and ply you with drink? LOL. I'd like you on my msn. How can we achieve that?
woo-hoo, smith! and with that i bid you all good night dear babblers. see you tomorrow!
thanks!
Wow, these are great fireworks! I'll try it... ~*$$$*~*!*~*!!!!*~*!*!! !!*~*!*~*$$$*~
Nite all! Time for Sopranos...
Night, TO!
Smthchick - your last definition. ROFLOL! So true, but I hope you didn't spill any.
Bye, gromit!
ok all you sweet wonderful people - i have depositions tomorrow - nighty nite....(hope i didn;t use a word)
ca7/32 and ca6/36?
It's getting bloody noisy in here with all these fireworks!
Bye, Ren! LOL, Jacula!
Naw, Ren., you're ok. Depostion isn't in the grid today.
Good night, Temple Owl! Jacula, what are you trying to do to my digestive system? If wensleydale cheese with cranberries renders me ill, what would strong drink do? The MSN thing - I'm not a member as yet.
Well, I too must be off. McDreamy awaits me on TiVo. Also there is that pesky matter of getting up with the kids in the morning.
ROFL, Jacula...
ca7/32 - combine ca4/5 (what you pack your clothes in) with a shortened version of ea4/4 - what you take when you rest.
ca 6 - to the aforementioned receptacle for holiday clothes, add what a bird does in the air, minus a letter
Haz - re MSN, if you want to get it go to MSN.com not elsewhere or they will try to charge you for the service. You don't need a hotmail or msn address to get in there now. However, go to BabAnon and send me a message initially through the ez message board on there. I'll get you sorted then.
Okay, but I'll not do it just at this minute.
Okay, Haz.
got em! Thanks
I still have 86 to go though. Not too hopeful for a gal with dialup.
harp - i'm in the same boat, started too late & have 77 to go - let's race!
Woot!! Finished!!!
se 7/28 and either of the se5/12?
Congratulations, knutmeg!!
se5/12 - Hebrew word, seen in Psalms, anagram of ha5/12 se 5/12 - add the first part of a contest (athletes run in a ***e)
Harp - regretfully, probably not. We got my o'H's parents on line today. Not dial-up nor fast broadband, but a paid for monthly thing using their phone line and a filter. Couldn't believe how slow it was! Which brings me back to a point I meant to make earlier about Babblers (myself included) getting impatient with people who don't seem to have scrolled back before they post - Folks, if you've had broadband for a while, you might just forget how slow other internet connections are. Let's try to have a little more patience, eh? I was reading in my Sunday paper earlier about how a computer that reads your thoughts and types them might come in one day. ERK!
se7/28 - superlative of se4/4
Good point about scrolling back. It's much too time-consuming on short notice. I have to take out the icons, and put the log update on "never"
finally back :-P boy, that was 'fun'
79 to go....
se7/28 - the blackest creme caramel you ever saw! Think charred, think blow torch.
Think kitchen in flames...
No, perish the thought!
Haz - that's a bit dramatic! LOL.
hmm; i don't understand this stat thing at all :-/
that's DSL, Jacula; which is broadband/high speed, or should be.....but there are different levels you can have, too.....lite/basic, standard, and high speed ultra; we have the latter kind of DSL.....anything else would frustrate me!
Mikey - stats - what don't you understand? Go to Angel's page for the full explanation. However, if it's simple like ar4/4 for instance it could be ARTS. Each letter is worth 1 point and ther are 4 of them. SCORING Each tile has a point value. To determine the score for a word, the point-value for the length of the word is multiplied by the total letter values for the word: 4-letter word = 1 x Points 5-letter word = 2 x Points 6-letter word = 3 x Points 7-letter word = 4 x Points 8-letter word = 5 x Points 9-letter word = 6 x Points Go into 'Babble Rules' for the rest.
re5/16, 6/27, and 5/14? Thank you in advance
the 'Number of words that start with:' section, Jacula; why there are 2 lots of numbers under each letter in the table there?
i'm a latecomer. how many words in this puzzle?
Mikey - where are you looking at that?
Batty - 203 words and not enough time to find them now. Sorry!
ra6/18? I"m beggin here!
when i click 'flip to stats', Jacula; under where it tells me i have 48 words left to find.....which i'll never find now :-/
what olde west folks called wrestling....5/18
thank you. re5/16, 6/27, and 5/14? purty please?
203!! and I was feeling proud for finding 105 in an hour and a half LOL. oh well, we'll see how much i get done before it clicks over :)
re 5/16 is re + what you use to fill up your car minus the 'u'
ra6/18 - To engage in wrestling or wrestle with. Failing that, think of the collie film star, that lovely collie dog that made us all cry La****. Change the first letter.
re 5/14 to speak again
i could use help with la 5/10
re5/16 - add part of past tense of fall, then plural for re6
