This game has the most retarded dictionary I've ever seen. What congenital form of hermaphroditism (i.e. it don't get no gayer) does this game's creator suffer from?
no shit, and we just found a word and plural that has a link to dictionary.com that doesn't exist
They should have two dictionary options: a "people who like nonlinear word searches" option, full of normal words, and a "understimulated housewives with nothing better to do than guess obscure words" option.

Can be annoying - don't know where you're from - but known British words are sometimes refused! Something else to complain about! But, hey! I'm on holiday now - so nothing's gonna bother me now.......

At, I would presume that you are entitled to know your blood type regardless if the nurse is chatty or not!
Nobody said you didn't know what you were talking about Jac, I'm sure you do. To go throgh something like that is awful but awful things happen all the time that's all that was said. It's not a competition to see who has the worst things to deal with, it's all relative and hearing other people's trials and tribulations can sometimes help us through our own but without denying them cos they aren't as bad as someone elses

If you have the 1st f4/8 change the 3rd letter to the one adjacent to it

It's complicated! But we have a very rich language over here because we have English, Ulster-Scots and Irish gaelic influences.

the only reason I do try and not use the list is that (being utterly modest here) I can normally look at the lists and just immediately find the words, and its not so much of a challenge
this game has been great for me. as a result of my 2nd auto accident in '02 (rear-ended by someone doing over 95 mph) i have had great difficulty finding words in my head. i find i don't have to concentrate as hard when speaking now.

Not too sure about my mum. right now at least I know she is asleep. She had major back surgery the day after I gave birth so she is still recovering, I try not to call her this early. Although, I may give in this morning. I think Liv is just extra gasey... she has been burping a lot, and just spit up. So that may explain the fuss. Gonna see if she goes to sleep now with a pacifier.

shorty- I was really expecting a big baby. Then she was born at 7 pounds 6 ounces and lost 13 ounces the first week, so she got down to 6 pounds 9 ounces. She's so very tiny. And Haz is right, there is no light on their foreheads indicating needs.
Okay, leave your mum for now and see if Olivia will settle. Don't pick her up straightaway if she whimpers, she may just need time to settle. And then, take a nap yourself.
doctor says its a distinct possibility that she has a mild form of colic. She doesn't scream inconsolably for hours on end, but she does have these periods of refusing to sleep longer than an hour or so.

See if the doctor can prescribe some drops to help. I was extremely fortunate in having babies who didn't have colic, but from friends I know how distressing it can be for all concerned.
i think i cried more than my son. i was only just barely 20 when he was born and had no idea what was going on until he was almost over it.
She just fell asleep next to me. I'm *not* moving her until she's been asleep for more than 20 minutes (please hit deep sleep, Liv). If she keeps this up much longer, I will be calling the doctor. She has been like this since 8pm last night. The two hours of sleep I got was the longest she slept for.
Cliff--I know the feeling. Its too bad babies don't come with instruction manuals when they pop out. Too much guessing!

I'm not really playing but just saw the discussion of lickety's list. My best friend and I both use it daily and love it!!!! I love the tick boxes and the ability to type in the words. Really helps in the longs list of re words to be able to see them alphabetically.

Jera - I have a couple starting in my Kitchen window also. I don't know what they are called but they are really deep purple tublar shaped flowers when they bloom. I planted them last year and they were out of this world so when the seeds popped I grabbed them.
Goodness it's a struggle getting to halfway today! I'm only at 54 words & I can't cheat until I find 3 more!!
faerie - it's mainly down to my long-suffering husband, but our patch is wonderful at the moment. Lots of varieties of doffodil/narcissi, crocus, hyacinths, periwinkles, tulips, etc... makes you glad to be alive! All of the trees are beginning to blossom, too. When my son (now 18) was small he refered to blossom as 'pink leaves' - the terms stuck! (To his embarrasment!)
Gotta go make Max another bed...and throw these things in the laundry - again. brb

leitlady... it's a clue code... rather than just blurt out the answers, we give each other clues & oh-so-clever little hints. The main clue code is (for example) pe4/5... the word starts with pe with 4 letters in the word, with a point calue of 5 for the whole word.

How about fantasy? My personal fields of personal preference are Fantasy and science fiction -- and one of my favorite series is the Discworld books by Terry Pratchett. Therer are a lot of them, but well worth the time --- they are that rarest of all beasties... the quality humorous fantasy series. The quality is consistently high and each book is better than the one previous. And best of all, they do not have to be read in order.

dino -- actually on the overnights I am extraordinarily blessed -- once he goes to sleep he is out for at least 4 hours, usually 5 --- but once he wakes for the midnight feed it takes at least an hour to get him back to sleep

Paigey is 15 months old now. Today I put her down for a nap at about 10am after she almost fell asleep watching Sesame Street. About 20 minutes later she was wailing so loud and so strangely that I went in to check on her (I usually just ignore it and she falls asleep pretty quickly). She was standing up in the corner of her crib wearing nothing but a diaper. I had put her down in her fleece footed zipup sleeper. I know she figured out zippers, but she has never undressed herself before. That was one nap she was NOT going to take. She didn't end up taking a nap until 2pm.
Ahhh, the things we have to look forward to!

At a certain age they all seem to want to divest themselves of clothes. My nephew did it, and so did my son. Amazing how fast they can do it too. Normal.

Minski -- the only way I used to be able to get Kristianna to take a nap during the day was for me to take a drive in the car.... and even then the longest she slept was a little over an hour

All babies do not take long naps. All babies do not start walking at 2 1/2. Allbabies do not talk at 3. Stop trying to shove them into a box!
I don't know how I did it but Paige is a great sleeper. She goes to sleep between 7 & 7:30 pm and sleeps usually until between 6 & 7:30am. She used to take 2 naps 1.5 to 3 hours long but now she is down to one 2ish hour nap a day. Don't despair, it will happen for your kidlets too.

Hoot -- you will get a kick out of this one -- Mimi is as much of a packrat as you are though she is cleaning out her nooks and crannies now -- she brought over a bunch of booklets on child rearing issued by the US Dept of Health from 1968 -1972
Hoot ~ I didn't walk until I was 19 months old. Paige is 15 months old and still doesn't walk although that hasn't slowed her down any. She has 2 words: mama, dada, ba (hello, goodbye, dog, cat.....ba means many things). THe last place she will be put is in a box (she would figure out a way to climb out of it).
It is definitely interesting to compare the tone and quality of the advice between then and now :)

Hah - My son walked at 1 yr and didn't talk til 3+. And that was cause his cousins forced him to! If we are all individuals why do they insist babies follow some kind of schedual!??
My Parents and In-Laws are always giggling about all the "terrible things" they did to us when we were kids. We sat in the front seat. We rode unrestrained in our porter cribs in the way back of the car with all the windows opened. We rode our bikes without helmits. etc. etc. It's a miracle we all survived.
Oh don't get upset with me please! Just my soapbox for the night! Everyone does things their own way and the kids survive. Not sure about the parents but the kids do!:D
Don't sweat it, hoot -- the hazard of the chat log -- it can be very easy to misinterpret someones intent due to the lack of visual and auditory cues that a face to face meeting provide

Noone's angry with you Hooty. Every child is different. Some people need the statistics to feel better. Others blow that stats out of the water and laugh at them. I would rather laugh and not worry. Paigey is normal and healthy and happy and wonderful and I'm sure all of the babble world's children are also.
Well lets see...I was raised in Brooklyn so it was stickball and all other games in the street. Catching a tow from a bus or trolley on roller skates. Going just about anyplace on our bikes. All nonos now. Too bad.
Oh, Raya is only going to crawl so she can chase the cats and dog around the house. She is on the motivational track! The sad part is, she hates tummy time, so I don't know how she'll learn to crawl ;)

dino -- now that is where I am a bad parent according to the books -- I do the most minimal baby proofing -- I cover outlets and try to pad the sharpest corners-- other than that I rely on something which seems to have been forgotten by most of the books... I pay attention to what my children are doing
That is all I have done - outlets and padded my coffee table. I am not bolting my bookcase to the wall, I am not strapping the TV down and I will not hide all the cords. I do, however, plan on putting up little v hooks to wrap the blind cords around. Even my cat gets into trouble with those

I agree with that as well, my blinds are out of reach so I have no concerns there -- but I didn't even pad the coffee table -- Kristianna has thunked herself a couple of times now and has already made it to the point where, unless it is a really bad bump or comes as a complete surprise, she is more likely to laugh it off than cry :)

Well we had a whole string come thru Memphis last week but it split 2 ways and one string headed north and the other south. We got a spectacular light show but not even rain! Then on our way back from Knox I was tdriving his truck & listening to the radio and they were issuing warnings again. Pulled into a rest stop and told him what was happening and we decided to get off the road and headed for a motel. Same thing! Split up and half went north and half went south!

Well, it was it's 300th episode and is pretty funny. It was a pretty fun show and I did the math. I knew that the current season was going to be the last. Bill was there, Red and Harold hugged. It would have been the last season if it was 15, 20, 25, or 30 episodes in a season. So, most likely.
But especially in the north there was devestation. You really ought to watch the news. Houses just piles of splinters, semis on their sides and at least 2 auto dealerships totally wiped out!
I came to the conclusion long ago that I will be nit-picked to death! No spectacular exit for me. I win $2.00 jackpots, not $2,000,000. Pain in the butt!
