Dang you're quick, harp :-)
luck
so, let's guess on the number of words today
o goodie, an X!
i think it looks kinda small. i'll say 115.
Funky puzzle, I'm thinking less than yesterday's. Between 100 and 200
My guess--189
O M G another doozy
i would hope less than yesterday's!
oooh -- this is fun, hmmmm, 163 jelly beans in the jar :)
Geez, this flip caused my poor laptop to spaz!
154... helen is closest, but i would win under price is right rules :)
and Sudoku's a medium
less than half of yesterday's, Woot!
and nothing more than one eight. wonderful.
lol leslie
Good guessing, though!
ne 7/32
ne 7/32 x 2
ne 8/45... should have waited before i posted the first :)
night. big day tomorrow. lots of music....
Go LeslieAnn!
g'night harpjane
good night jane!
got 'em all, LeslieAnn! :-)
guess the makers here are not unix experts - ni 4 - d is not valid... but would be if you are a unix expert... :) (yup, I'm a geek)
*whispers* what did rycaut just say??
Just got all the 'ne' words! Thanks, Leslie!
that one of the ni4 words is not valid unless you know unix. To which I say, thanks for the clue, Ry!
there is a unix command that is then made into a verb by system administrators... but not in normal used as a verb (it is an ni 4/5 - as in be ni**)
No geeks here, no siree! (As you Yanks would say!) Noe, nopem, nope, No!
I have no idea how that word got into my profile, Jacula... *snickering*
hey knutmeg, we are not too far apart... i live in lisle
Neat! I've got friends in Lisle, in fact, all my friends live closer to you than me. :-) (I'm out that way once a week, usually. Haven't been since the baby but I'll start that back up when I go back to work.)
that's funny, i've got some good friends in libertyville, so they are closer to you than to me!
Funny coincidence, that. :-)
who goes to evensille christian school
does anyone go to evansville christian school
Knut - I've added you to my MSN, if you accept.
hey, Leslie Ann and knut, I'm in Buffalo Grove. We're really close, knut.
there are lots of people from the area on. mamabear and helenkeller live in the city, and someone else lives in niles, i think
sorry m&m's, I don't know where that is. I'm in Utah.
Indeed we are! Short hop skip and jump... well it would be short if there isn't any traffic. :-)
hi corpsvalue -- I'm in Idaho, your neighbor
Jacs... don't have MSN, only AIM and Yahoo.
you're pretty trippy today, ch
i'm gonna quit at an even 100 - save the rest for tomorrow ---- good nite everyone !!!
i mean, your icon. not you in general.
hi ch1212!
good night helen!
well, leslieann the theme was a 'free day' so this is a picture of a fractal, colored (of course) -- just looked pretty. And it's Holy Saturday, so I wanted something brighter than yesterday's.
g'night Helen!!
Knut - fair enough.
Well, I'm going to finish the sudoku, then sleep. Good night and good luck!
good nite leslie - cooled off a bit -great sleeping weather! my bed calls . . .
Helen, goodnight. Blimey, that was fast! I've got 46 so far.
g'night Artlady!
good night artlady!
Hi and ' bye, Artlady.x
nite helen, nite artlady. I'm trying to stay awake later tonight because tomorrow night will be the loooonnnnggg service at church, about 3 hours. And I'm just too old these days to pull an all nighter like I did in my youth :)
I'd like to buy an "s", please?
That is, I mean TONIGHT will be the long service... technically it's still Friday night here but the puzzle is for Saturday.
Oh dear! No German wives allowed in the grid.
The de 5/22 is an interesting word... I haven't seen that since I read "Valley of the Dolls" back in the late 60's. (just ruminating out loud ...)
ruminate away, it helped me get two words!
:) true is, Leslieann, I didn't see the plural until I saw your note, so thanks.
ditto - but not any of the words clued! Mine related to defrosting things...
and... 2 more down, thanks to jacula !
However, I have just got the 2 clued words now, so, THANKS!
I so didn't get the clue, but I got the unfrosty words before Jacs mentioned from your ruminations. So, um, something less retro related to that word, ch?
how about the 80s? de**'* midnight runners, spelled wrong
Guess Dr. God doesn't like the Easter egg coloring giant, because it won't accept PAAS :D Of course, that's a proper name, so ...
Knut - de5 and its plural - drugs! Definition: A pill or tablet containing dextroamphetamine.
sorry, knutmeg ... let's see -- how about someone who is ambide******* (can write with both hands) ... take the de* part and add an ending ... or two
Got it from the 1980s, but thank you all!! :-)
come on eileen...
how many words today?
Ah, Les., the Midnight Runners. Let's all sing it together! Great song!
154, Ry
Toora, loora, toora, loorye, aye...
Come on, Eileen...
okay I'm off to try and read for awhile ... must ...stay...awake (yawwwnnnn) seeyoulall tomorrrr....zzzzzz
*puts them on iTunes*
'Poor old Johnny Ray Sounded sad upon the radio He moved a million hearts in mono Our mothers cried and sang along and who'd blame them? Now you're grown, so grown, now I must say more than ever Go toora loora toora loo rye aye And we can sing just like our fathers .... Come on Eileen! Well, I swear (what he means) At this moment, you mean everything With you in that dress, my thoughts I confess Verge on dirty ......'
well 74 to go... anything bigger than 6?
7's and 8's
one 8, five 7s is all, Ry
well one 8 and 5 7's
hello natalie
hey there, isn't it past your bed time!
i'll probably leave soon, but i didn't work today so i got up a little (a lot) late.
Brill song and dig those dungarees! These days, on girls, they apparently pull fellas, so my duaghter tells me... You wear 'em with the bib down and your midriff showing. It seems today's chaps think something like, 'Phwoar! You gonna come and fix (me) my car or something.' Well, you live and learn! Oh my!
oh, yeah I forgot, I just got home from work
I'd really like to rearrange the words just a smidge to put together the words I keep seeing...
like sauce. i really want that. and suede (in the puzzle, not in general)
and if I could just add another s in...
I know I will get lambasted politically for saying that Margaret Thatcher is one of my heroines ( can say that word now, since the last grid has gone) but. blody hell, Maggie... did you really leave us with a legacy that makes men think we might fix their cars??
I'm surprised sometime by words that are not allowed ac 4/5 - past tense for example (as in that t 4 ager's face is ac 4/5 ied
afternoon all
this one looks a bit better than yesterday......
hello arisha, dippnall
ar 7/32!

I am beat, off to bed I said, fred spaged (as mom used to say), night everyone, leslie I will see you tomorrow afternoon
good night nat!
sorry...hello all....trying to get some words down before a busy day starts.....
Why is 'parsee' not an allowed word?
ar 7/32 is fairly deadly...
i'm looking at lickety's list... apparently there is a ca 6/42? i wonder if that is a typo or if it uses the x
Its possible as long as the x is involved, plus a lot fo 2 point letters...
oh, got it, it does use the x
found it, definitely not a typo, Les
Yep, I monkeytyped it from your clues. ca 6/42
24 words left, think i will finish the rest in the morning... good night all
Ditto, LeslieAnn... BBL.
g'night Jacula, LeslieAnn! 7 more words then I'll hit the sack.
Okay, that was mroe than 7 words. But I'm off to sleep now. G'night All, see ya later in the morning!

morning ginger
are any of the hint pages online yet for todays puzzle
hello..anyone?
Hi, Lickety's list is up.
Yes - all you need to do is click on Lickety's babble clues.
morning folks... need the hair of the dog after yesterday's monster :)
Morning Haz.
thanks Haz
... and sherb :)
Good morning all. After yesterday I told myself that I was taking a day off..... But I just had to switch on.
did you finish yesterdays Haz?
morning FMitch, morning Haz... this is like therapy... I need a little gentle Babbling to ease myself back to normality...
I didn't finish yesterdays.... I nearlyfell asleep so had to go to bed in the end! The printable list was 9 pages!!!
No, I got to 386 and then threw in the towel. I blame my family for needing the computer at inappropriate times, my family for needing fed at inappropriate times and my brain for giving up on me!
hey ladies.....
LOL Haz. today's doesnt look too bad so I will be playing but have some things to do first. Hi ren and ginger
Renfield - how are you?
hey Rennie :) ...feeling any better today?
hyper for the antibiotics...8-}
yes sherb - my ear and throat do not hurt as much...but i the doc gave me different rx and i'm a little hyper
My husband was telling me that local farmers have started to use a strange therapy for cattle with stomach problems - they're dosed with a whole jar of coffee! He was called out to see such a cow and he described it as 'hyper' - practically dancing and with eyes bulging, ears pricked etc.
OMG Haz... what a thought, a herd of hyper cattle with stomach problems!!! glad idon't live near that field LOL!
morning haz, fmitch, renfield and sherb
lol Haz... guess the jar of coffee made them forget about their stomach problems...
morning ruthy, morning Ginger :) :)
oh my haz!!! i wonder if i look like that to people???? i read that 1 cup of black coffee is suppose to help our bodies - but a whole jar!!! zoom,,,zoom...zoommmmmmm
morning everyone i looked away for 10 minutes and everyone arrives!
He has no idea who started the practice, but when one farmer does something, the rest tend to follow. The latest thing is having goldfish in the cattle water tank.
morning sherb!
are these dairy cows????
talk about a wake up coffee creamer!
Yes, they probably are, but hopefully the milk would be set aside and not put into the bulk tank.
goldfish! sounds like a fraternity haz! 8-D
morning bex :D
what's the thinking with the goldfish then?
The theory is that the goldfish help to keep the water clean. If cattle have been feeding, they then tend to drop in bits of food into the water tank. Goldfish then feed on what they drop, thus keeping the water clean. That's the theory anyway.
what about the goldfish poop?
That I don't know about renfield. They probably have some other species to deal with that....
thats me finished
and the cycle continues! that is so very interesting haz.
ruthy - congratulations! Am I right in thinking that you competed yesterday's amazingly fast?
on that note, I'm off to get dressed and brave Waitrose... later all :)
**F**I**R**E**W**O**R**K**S** for ruthy!!!!!!111
enjoy your day sherb!!!

Good morning everyone
Good morning KatieW
Morning all - good luck for today KatieW

Mari - thank you I feel we could need it! Concert great last night.
Okay, time to be disciplined and get on with the day. Tesco awaits. I'll be back later.

ne6/21 - think sewing. once found you wil also get 2x7 and the 8.
Going to the football now, bbl to finish.
enjoy the footie!
Thanks but I feel it could be a long day!!
are you watching or particpating?
Watching - I've got a season ticket for West Ham. I do ask myself why on regular occassions :)
LOL hope it's a good match :)
Hey, anybody know how many words there are today??
154 words today.
154!
Thanks!!
Hi all! Well, I didn't finish yesterday - just didn't have the patience for 200 more words at 1am. But today looks quite manageable!
Hi amanda Much more manageable size today that's for sure. But, there a s scattering of real babble words.
Yeah - I was just thinking I may have spoken too soon...
Morning everyone!
Morning :)
Anyone help with a clue to the pa6/24, just can't see it!
FMitch-someone who stops and waits. pa5/14 plus a consonant.
Morning Eva, Thanks for that but just realised I should have said the 2nd pa6/24, the one you gave good clue for is the 3rd and last.
Found it - it is a unit of astronomical length!
got it just as you did!
LOL WTG
In one of those periods where I don't have the patience to finish the puzzle. Maybe because it is just too beautiful outside. Heartbursting. The wood frogs are having all-day orgies near the house and all the migratory birds are showing up. This is a brief period of time when it is reasonably warm, but the flying biting things haven;t shown up yet to make outdoor life a misery.
That is wonderfully descriptive Eva - a day to be enjoyed to the full!!! Bit grey over here but mild and the spring flowers are lovely and uplifting.
i am sooooooo happy to see a smaller grid today:) good morning/good day.
hi cliff.
just a few more words and then off for a walk in the woods.
Hi cliff, better size today for sure.
i was reading your post eva - i love this time of year too. (i really dislike those flying, biting things. glad they are not here yet.)
do you have a big blackfly problem like we do?
monstrous. we call it NH's state bird in my area. so many bodies of water around here, plus big state forest nearby. those black things are nasty!
The village I live in, Adamant, has a blackfly festival in May to "celebrate" the little murderers. One really can't be outside for more than a minute without wearing a bug baffler. Do you have those? If not you should look them up on the web-makes gardening, etc possible. I was thinking this morning of calling my brother, who is a doctor, for the newest info on bog sprays that don't destroy one's liver. All the non-toxic ones I've tried thus far don't really work.
I'm still missing 2 7's. I have: ar7/32 ne7/32 x 2 what am I missing?
i could not remain an active person without the bug baffler because i can't wear insect repellent (allergic to lots of chemicals) i also have some repellent clothing from Orvis. our chamber of commerce holds a 'black fly ball' every year on a ship called the mount washington. people dress like the buggers :)
That's great! As part of the festival we have a black fly pie contest, a parade, where the children dress as bugs and are led through town by the fire engines, and a black fly emergence contest, to guess the moment of the first appearance or blood letting.
lol eva! sounds like a lot of fun. what do they make the pies from?
there's a gu6 with a 7 pl. gu**** fowl or old English coin.
good morning, what does the 8 start with
thanks Fmitch!!
the 8 starts with ne.
Hi Peri - have a look at my post in the log at 4.36
Ok, I know absolutely nothing about this particular bug, but my cure-all for keeping all crawlies away is lavender - bags in all drawers and closets, aroma oil - I suppose one could rub oneself down with it...
thanks, Eva, already had the ne7, just forgot to pluralize
none of the pies contain actual balckfly corpses. At least not so far. My favorite last year was a blood red strawberry chiffon with lots of little black chocolate specks on top.
amanda-I love lavender, so I'll give it a try. Luckily this particular insect doesn't come into the house. But they form literal clouds around any moving body within moments of being outside. And they bite!!!
See you all later.
it would have taken a billion black flies to make a whole pie. i definitely like the strawberry one you described much better. amanda - i have tried the lavender oil treatment. does not work on black flies unfortunately.
bye eva. have a great walk!
and Sin so Soft which a lot of people swear by has never done anything but make me slippery. The best I've done so far is using DEET, but on my clothing instead of on my skin.
meant Skin, not Sin, Maybe sinning would help?
if sinning worked i would defintely never have been bitten as a teenager or 20-something :)
oh well - I guess at least you smelled good while being bitten, cliff...
true. i love the smell of lavender, and the color. where are you on the planet amanda?
Can anyone give me a nudge on the first re6/21 - I'm just not seeing it
re + letter to the left of the e + french for water.
I'm in Hamburg, Germany - so the bug problem is minimal. Urban + enough winter to kill everything off. I grew up in Mississippi though, so I know what monster-bugs are like!
th, Mitch - never would have gotten that one!
you know, new englanders should never complain about bugs around those from the south. much scarier bugs down there!
Hiya, everyone!!!!! I'm a Futurama fan, as you can probably tell......
time for mundane things like errands, bbl
morning
hi movieman. see ya later peri.
Hi movieman, whats the theme today then?
can't see any words jumping out at me today
FMitch - it's another Free Choice Day today......
hi scatty. i've only managed to see about 25 words over the past 30 minutes. but at least it is a manageble one.
This is the best that I have ever done. GO ME!!
woohoo AF, how many have you found so far?
yay shortie!!!
I suppose that's why I don't have any bug phobias, plus the fact that I've so far managed to avoid any and all allergies (knock on wood)
amanda - you are a long way from mississipi now. must be quite a different culture in germany.
found the 8 without any help
It certainly is - but aside from the long, cold and gray winters, I think I prefer it. Too many issues with red-state mentality...
i got into a discussion last week on that very subject amanda. i have spent some time preparing my son the past few weeks - he is on his way to alabama to air force officer training school. he is used to speaking his mind.
Your son is becoming an officier. GO USAF!!
good morning all!!!
i'm so proud of my son - not many get accepted for OTS. i'm so excited for him. yes - go USAF!
Just found the ar7/32, think classic b/w UK film - Ar***** and Old Lace.
I am enlisted USAF
He'll probably be alright, Cliff - it will at least be an experience for him. My mother and brother manage somehow to deal with it. While they're not quite as far out in left field as I am, they still don't swing with the meajority. But they've found the niches they need, I guess, to live with it.
is that what the AF stands for?
exactly!
What will be his job once he's done with OTS?
Morning, Afternoon, or Good Evening as the case my be in Babble Land
Puzzle looks doable today, maybe today is the day I can actually finish one, lol
AFShortie - he has a master's in mechanical engineering and will be doing research and development. he wanted to go in as a navigator, but they did not have any available slots. figures he can work his way up eventually. he would someday love to be involved with space flight.
Wow. That is awesome!!
GL trying to get someone to say Hi I must be invisible
Hi ya shorty!!!!!
Morning Shorty how goes it?
Im ok im a lttle sick ty for asking
... and Hi Sheryl too
thats not good, hopefully you will be feeling better soon
morning mitch
I hope also I HATE BEING SICK
Hi everyone! Back to try and finish - having shaopped, church decorated, etc!
ya know that gaggy feeling in the back of your throat thats what I have YUCK!
good luck dip and yes shorty I know the feeling yuck
i am in awe of him myself. sometimes i wonder how i ended up with such a great kid. but i'd better stop bragging soon and get some words or my saturday will disappear!
I want to get better b4 my kids get here for Easter any suggestions?
I'm done after yesterday's abject failure!
you mean your done today or your done for good?
no suggestions shorty, maybe rest
I'm done too!!
Hmmmmmmm I dont like to rest though it makes me extra tired all day
Well congrats. I love being in the USAF. Good luck to him.
hmmm not sure what to do you then, mom always said plenty of rest and fluids
thanks AFShortie :)
maybe I'll do fluids I heard Gatorade original is suppose to make you feel better so I'll try that
I find if I feel sick, sipping flat coca cola helps a lot. Sa6/27 clue, anyone?
7-Up, soda crackers, Tylenol and the power of positive thinking (I'm not sick, I'm not sick, I'm not sick...) - can't hurt, anyway
reaaly Hydra I'll try it we just happen to have some thanks
LOL amanda
make sure it's flat though, shorty. The bubbles will make your tum feel worse.
oh ok ty
to the under the weather shorty - not sure if you are a drinker, but my personal cure is 'screwdrivers' i'm not trying to promote alcohol - i'm not much of a drinker. maybe that's why vodka and oj works for me.
Gatorade's not bad either - it certainly is the best hangover cure I know!
never heard of Gatorade. Guess they don't have it in UK. What is it exactly?
a sports drink wity electrolites in it
sa6/27 = s + a5/16 (a type of drill?)
no sorry cliff I'm not a drinker
good clue FMitch!
Gatorade's an isotonic drink - I think that's what they're called. Basically sugarwater with minerals or something. It goes down easy on an upset tummy.
Thanks FMitch. I'd never have got that!
thanks cliff... and now must go and go real world stuff for a while BBL
bye FMitch
That sa is a fish, actually - I looked it up because it's a German word and I wondered what it was doing lurking in English. Means "sucker" in German, but not like we use it
Not completely done shorty - my addiction runs too deep!
i finally figured out why i'm not getting many words. i've still got yesterday's letters in my head. *whacks head to get them out*
can someone pls give me a clue for either of the ca 6/24 or the 6/21 Have the 6/21 to do with the roman
I've got a ca6/24 that's "one who makes something happen" - kind of hard to clue for without using the word!
extend last ca4/5
the other ca6/21 has to do with cheese, I think
ty guys after amanda clue remembered there was that word in a past puzzle
That's me done! Anyone need anything?

Hi bex, feeling better? how many words U got today?
hi FMitch, hi bex :) :) ...nice lazy Saturday afternoon ahead...
feeling better still got a sore head though. i have 54 so far today. how about u?
I was supposed to be going out this afternoon so zoomed thru grid and finished but now am not going out, so will do some work and bits and give clues when needed.
mitch i really need a clue for the re 4/6 probably will need the fish after but I can't get it any help pls
LOL - think rules and re**. Short form of longer word. if that doesn't work try using the tile count to help you :)
thats it ty
:)
fmitch are u still offering clues? :)
sure bex, just working on an excel spreadsheet so no probs, what are you looking for?
the ap 5. i think its probably obvious but i just cant see it :)

ap 5 to set the p***
yup it is one of those Doh ones!! a + p4/5 te4/4 and then make it really really small.
need help with the ca24s, plz??????????
te5/14 = te4/4 and then add a letter to make it really really small is what I meant to say.
ty mitch
take your ca 4 before it and add what you put in a drink to make it cold minus the last letter
the other ca6/24 is the ca5 before it + a letter
thats it for me, woo hoo, finally finished a puzzle this week, yee haw
%"%"%"%Fireworks for Sheryl%"%"%"%
anyone want or need a clue before i go out and do my shopping?
TY Mitch....the only problem is I don't have the ca5's either.....
ty mitch couldn't have done it without your help today, and most days as that goes, lol
j do you have the ca 4/5 what we drive? add a vowel to the end of that
j should have told you the second ca 4/5 not the first
okay gonna go have a great day all see you tomorrow
I cannot find the very last ca 4/5 or its 6.....
Bye sherl the ca5, ummm phrase that springs to mind is "ca*** and effect"
Ty Ty..... Now ca 6/21,,,,,,,
bye Sheryl :)
de clues? clues for de5/14, de6/24, de5/22,de6/36.
ca6/21 = ca4/5 + op of out. Ohh washing machine is done - must go hang things up, back in a bit.
I'm still tired from yesterday's puzzle and can't clear my mind on the se patterns. Does anyone have a clue for the final se 4/4?
Merk - se4/4 has a double consonant
I know what you mean Merk... my brain is fried. se + double consonants
that's funny - i feel the opposite - i feel like yesterday strengthened my word-finding muscle
hurshy - that doesn't surprise me one bit ;)
oops, refresh
It was discouraging because I worked to the last minute, midnight here, and I didn't finish. Too busy a day. Now I have to change my thought patterns with these new letters. Uck! But I played around and found the se.
Anyone got any other 7's except the sewing ones? If so, clue me up plz.....
i've only spent about half an hour so far and i have 35 left to find - course those will probably take quite a while
that is, unless movieman inadvertently gives me four words at a time :)
Hursh - at least I didn't actually post the words themselves!!!!!
movieman - Cary Grant movie - ar7 and Old Lace... :)
no, no, i wasn't complaining, movieman, it's a good thing (except i feel dumb for not seeing them - i am so bad at seeing long words!)
I'm not doing very well today. I'm struggling, and I've only found 65 words. Usually I at least approach 100 if not go over without looking at the list.
I know you weren't complaining, hursh...... By the way, those 7's I tend to spot the most often....
Good Morning! gu-7 = coins or wild birds
I know you weren't complaining, hursh...... By the way, those are the 7's I tend to spot the most often....
feeling dumber by the minute...
DONE...anyone need a clue?? Just for you Hurshy
lol, o'chita, now it's a new consistent comment, it's got the "Just for you Hurshy" added - i feel so special :)
any help on the te 5/16? I can't seem to see it
te5/16...an ankle high mocassin worn in Mexico
se6/30?
Ok, i think it's time to look at the list. Bleh. You've defeated me this time, puzzle!
*shakes fist at computer screen*
nm, found it
se6/30....past tense of the se5/16 right before it
hang in there bendamalina!!!!!!
I think my Cary Grant clue was wasted...
nope, sherb, i used it!
I did too, ty sherb :)

hurshy stole my clue. >:-<
HI Harp!!! Is there still a thingy at the BigHorn Camp next month?!! thanks, nut!
i don't know if you want to come with me, scarecrow - i've got a nut mad at me and you might get into trouble
Ladies, don't fight over harpjane. she likes everyone equally

nut, excellent insane laugh! (applause)
Thanks! Yes, smaller! The concert will be May 20. Be sure to track me down and introduce yourself!
* takes a bow * i'll be here all day!
Good grief. If you guys are fighting over me, you have WAY too much free time! lol
*hurshy refrains from begging harp to tell who her favorite babbler is*
LOL Gary!!!! you blend well then, we should all be constipated since we're so full of it
hey smaller, i have a book you HAVE to read - it's right in line with your wacky sense of humor.
harp! -woohoo! nut, ooo what is it?!!
okay: the grrl genius guide to sex (with other people) i could swear you wrote it!
bbl
At this moment, my favorite babbler is the one who gives me clues for the G words! I can't find any!
BURP! , excuse me, just getting stuck here
ge 4 the first letter, pl ge 5 not ducks but... ge 4 something you do to a horse ge 4 change last letter of prev gu 4 ____ gum, or add abr for clinton's state gu 5 pl gu 4 rhymes with impolite gu 6 old british coin gu 7 pl

LOL Gary! thanks for the effort tho, benamalina! always appreciated!
hahahahahahaha
darn! harp can be so easily bought!
any time you have all day, i'd be happy to let my slow fingers help out. :)
thanks for the clues. you're all my favorites! I have a rehearsal (Easter Vigil, a really big deal) so I'll have to read the clues later!
i have 33 words, go ahead and start cluing on the other 121. ....i'll wait.
ALL your favorites! but you promised!! i raced away to get all the clues in first!!! :O
happy harping, harpjane!
hurshy, harp giveth harp taketh away
a lesson in humility
LOL hurshy, just ignore those lessons. I do!!
well i ain't fallin' for it next time, that's all i can say. from now on, harp is the girl who cried favorite babbler.
please--does anyone have the pa 6/24? not the skirt not the person who stops the other maddeningly elusive one...
happy easter, harpjane
*hurshy straightens up* skirt? what's this about a skirt?
ooh, got the skirt. will look for elusive one.
LOL the first pa 6/24 is the plural of a polynesian wraparound skirt
star trek fan gets it!!! distance in space
gu4/8....i didn't get it from the 'rhymes with impolite'. I'm stumped, because alphabetically and pointwise, it is limited.
impolite = ru4 (not in puzzle)
I see!!! thank you!!!
TY very much!
no, no, thank you, since i am not using list it helps when people alert me to the existence of words!
hello folks, i am back for my last 14. does anyone have sa 6/27?
ooh...there's another one!
sa6/27 s + a drill of sorts or what is done to clean out a clogged pipe
s + tool that bores a hole
oh, mac beat me to it. BUT i had to FIND the word first.
hm, that's an odd one. thanks.
ugh, someone slap me, i am being obnoxious
Just started! :s ar7,32 anyone?
poison, cary grant movie: ar7 and old lace
"we forgive you, hurshy, just don't do it again"
thanks hurshy! Was a bit blind to that other e... :s
uh oh, everybody watch out, hurshy's personalities are fighting again
Great clues today everyone. But I'm stymied by the skirt thing (pa6), never having been to Polynesia. Any help through all those vowels?
lol, Leslie
no no i was just being the babble crowd since you were disturbingly silent
i don't have MPD, honest...
lol, you weren't being obnoxious :)
how many do you have left, hursh?
14
the dreaded 14
what letters?
lots - a, c, e, f, n, r, s
gosh, do you have to become a member to know how many words?
no gary we can tell you there are 154 and you can't go to lickety's babble page for 2nd letter list
no, gary, you can go to the lickety's babble clues link to the right
CAN not can't OOPSIE
hursh did you take the end of that sa we just got and use it for an au 5 and 6?
thanks. just day 2 for me here. someone showed me the site and i love playing
well seeing as i used them in my clue, leslie... :)
the 2nd letter list is a big help, gary.
i guess that "can't" was a freudian slip!
hey, just trying to help here, lady. do you have ap 5/14?
i know leslie i just tease. yes i have ap5 too, very nice word
hmmm, those are all the hard ones, you're probably missing a 4. do you have the sounds dogs make?
yes my missing a's are from left
leslie, you are a big help! looking for ap 5/14 as well
3 ac's - two 4's and a 5
zits! missed the zits.
gary, a + a fast/slow p***
much appreciation for getting me past the dreaded 14 line
lol do you always get stuck at 14?
and the other ac 4/5 can be a club, diamond spade and/or heart
no just once a few days ago i got the list at 14 (ata had gone to bed, etc) so i now consider it cursed
cursed, that is serious business
so when i get to 13, i relax in the non-cursedness
Thanks Hurshy. Showed up just at the right time. Hi everyone. wiorking quietly alongside all of you.
gu 6/7 combo? i didn't get the old coin clue.
hi inge.
gweeting and sawutations, inge!
lots of kids have a gu6 pig for a pet
HI everyone...I'm not sure how happy I am with the outcome of yesterday's grid. I had 81 words left :( but I'm back again...
# words today
154
now that i get. thanks hursh.
yw :) :) :)
which e are you missing from, hursh?
SNEEZE!
oh i found my e's, now just c, f, n, r, s
hey angel. a valiant effort on your part.
old english coins worth one pence more than a pound or gu**** hen, gu****fowl
ni 5/22? if you have that one, drop the last letter for a 4
ty leslie that was the very one
that was my last one too, a sneaky word
one f, 2 r, 3 c, 3 s
ca 6/7 combo?
If I'd had yesterday off, I would have finished it, no problem. as it was, I was in and out all day on breaks and affer I got off, I was just too tired. ah, well...there's always next time. I just wish that this grid could have been yesterday's and vice versa. Still, it was the largest grid I've worked on thus far.
i have all the 7's
se 5/16 - hurshy, like a *****way you drive on the sidewalk? (spelled wrong)
yes indeedy i have that it was the most popular word at williams
ooh i just remembered another se5
and past tense?
Anyone else found 'rosacea', but been told it's not a valid word (which is ridiculous)?
yup yup yup
sa 5/12 is an odd one, also
sweet potato, a pro already? congratulations.
sweetpotato i think it just doesn't connect
it does connect... maybe it's spelled wrong?
Hardly!! Just a word I happen to know as I have the thing.. :)
ty leslie i needed that sa5!!
i just checked the spelling and the conection. oh well
hmmm, maybe it is considered a proper noun. i dunno. you get extra points in my book for it, though.
i think you would have to reuse that E...
oh i was thinking it was roseacea
no hursh, he said the fourth letter is an a, so only uses an e once
any help with ca7 please... bearing in mind I don't have any ca6's yet either!!!
i don't have the 7, ginger, but i have 2 6's: a brief**** + "me" letter + two different consonants
54 down, 100 to go!
the 7 is the 6 + s. The 6 is a warm drink they give to ill people.
thick me about rosacea thanks for a ca6 leslie!!! did you want a clue for that ca 6/7 combo then?
thanks pixie :-)
yes please, still working on the warm drink thing
ca6 rhymes with tarry about like your mom tells you not to do
which starts with d sorry
did anyone see those clues fly over my head???
whooosh!
leslie is that clues flying over ginger or you too?
i think they're the same ones you have already ginger. something you light when the power goes out, change n to u
WOW Leslie, they flew a looooong way didn't they?
ty :-)
i think i need a ca6, does it help throats? (don't mean i need the word, mean i need the drink)
i'm not sure of that one, hurshy, but i am missing the very first ca 6 if anyone has that??
lol hurshy! I have the word now but confess to not knowing it!
oh there is a fourth? how many points?
oh, no, i have that, it is julius or augustus
leslie, a type of salad dressing or julius' last name :p
crud, i knew that was it, just couldn't find it in the grid
i need de 5/22 and 6/36... :)
you, of all people should get those easily, nowherepiXIE
ca 6's: 6/21 x 2, 6/24 x 2, 6/27, 6/42
pixie: de*** midnight runners! (spelled wrong)
hehe good clue! thanks :)
ooh thanks leslie didn't have the 42
5 to go!!
i have 4 :)
me too--5 to go!
re 6/21? (not what you do to your lawn)
mumblemumble...have100 to go... mumblemumble...
ooh, will look leslie!!
i really thought resoap would work
me too!!
re + consonant + French word for water = re 6/21 (sounds like what you do to your lawn)
eureka (greek for i have found it)! ends with french for water
ooh, nosed out
shouldn't have wasted typing time on the eureka business
anyone have the first ca 6/24?
katie, a type of salad dressing or julius' last name :p
it was clearly a tie
it's an adj - like the following ca 6/21 except last letter
wait i don't know french for water could someone give me an idiot's clue?
julius is ca 6/21 I think this is ca 6/24
you are so generous kate - like harry potter with cedric (only that got cedric killed so maybe i am not liking this analogy so much anymore)
de6 24 anyone please? and maybe the de5/14.....
ends like jacques coust***
ah yes forgive me :">
kate, i gave a clue for those at 10:45
*** de cologne
ginger they have to do this to planes in the winter
haha done!
you do it to your car too
oh, leslie, i still need 3 more
oooooh thank you :-)
c, f, s (top c)
which letters hursh?
do you have the cy?
snap!
Oh--thank you! now just three fe's to go
just looking for the last ce4/5 then I have done page 1 !!!!
kate kate i bet you need a combo where the five has 3 vowels in the middle!!!
lots of c's, ginger
I bet I do, Hurshy LOL
te5/16 and te6/27 ...any clues please?
cy5/18 is someone who doesn't believe anything!
fr 5/20 hursh?
Have you missed me? I fully intended playing today, but got immersed in some more work on my Family Tree. It's a very interesting subject
FISH, oh thanks ginger - i have looked for that word in other puzzles so often and then it is finally here and i miss it
I don't know how I missed that one!!!
yes i have that leslie
te 5/16... te + first two letters of a kid's pet, a **inea pig + first vowel
most of the f's we have had before... how about fr**ucino?
LeslieAnn...thanks so much..a great clue!
have that too...hmm... it is either a 4 or a 5 though you've got that much right
f 5's are: 5/18, 5/20, 5/20
then i am missing a 5/20 and my s is a 4!
add a letter into your fe 4/9
oh i see past tense of the one that other fe4 is based on - i never can see that..silly me
Hi ExWren, Im slowly dloing Family Tree too, have got back to 1805 with family archives but now are to really start jouneying. How long have you been working on yours?
you know what i said about my word-finding muscle before - forget that i can't even monkey a little s4!
lol - five se's, four so's, three su's
so then
ty leslie got it! done!
hooray hurshy!
Hurrah for Hurshy!
:) :) :) you are a wonderful person leslie :) :) :)
thanks to you also kate!
I just need the fe 5/18 and fe 6/30 I'm clueless
kate are you done yet?
ha, i made sure to remember those two from last time they showed up! f, 3 vowels, r... then pl for 6
fe + "you" + what a pirate says
Wow--Done!! Thanks so much, Leslie and Hurshy and everyone
hooray for kate!
How many left for you Leslie? May I give a clue?
nope, i'm done :)
Hurrah for Leslie!
thanks :) i think i'll be heading out, have a great day everyone!
congrats, kateq, you make a fine addition to the babbleverse
Anne are you playing babble? Hi everyone not such a big grid today thank goodness.
hey kids. how many words today? thx!
154 today
154
thanks!
one can see the point of some of the ne's
Can anyone give me a clue for the 8?
they are irritating!
nice, billmster
well, hello everyone....and i am....finished!!! :-D
Hey, mikey -- how are feeling today?
hey, Woulf!!! :-) well, a little tired; but otherwise not too bac, thanks.....and how are you?
yllaria how did you get the scotish flag
tired as well -- we played one more game after you left-- that was one too many for me :D
Hi, any clues for the 8-letter word please?
billmster - scotland is one of the options in the country list in your profile. UK is there, near the top of the list, but if you scroll down England, Scotland and Wales are in the alphabetical list
any clues for the second pa6,24
Thanks
daughter is waaay too quiet, I have to investigate :\
it's ok -- she's playing hide and seek with her stuffed animals :)
NowherePixie.....2nd pa6,24 = golf average + 'dry' French word ;-)
thanks mikey :D
il n'y a pas de quoi, NowherePixie! ;-)
hey hey hey - i'm heeeee-e-e-e-r-e-e- * hopes everyone is polite enough to ignore the horrible tone of voice *
Hi evan! How are you today?
a-o-kay gw, just polishing up my state taxes to send them off. i love that the 15th is on a weekend.
i need the 2 re 5s pwease? :)
ugh! just got back from mailing off our federal taxes. i miss those days when the irs used to have to send me a check. nut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, I still have to do my taxes as well -- trying to figure out if the free service from TaxAct online is the way to go
C-L-I-F-F-!!!!!! *looks around room* stinking norm lovers...
evanonut!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!! :-D
gw, never tried tax act - used turbo tax last year and loved it, but they complicated this year i swear, so i used hr blocks online service. it was alright. i got almost all my money back from federal and owe the state a whopping dollar.
evan - so who is the cutie looking up at you in the pic?
how much did they charge?
norm lovers, hah! be abnorm and be a cliff lover :)
NowherePixie.....2 re5's: 1. view again 2. employ again
CLIFFF!!!
that's my little angel linky - ain't he a darling? :-) cliffy, no rain, no storms, got the computer running smooth again...do i need the kit?
hey hey mikey!!
gw, thirty federal and thirty state. that's 40 total less than walking in.
hi all can i have a clue for the fe5/20 thanks
i'm okay now nut. but thanks for helping the other nite. you always make me laugh. GW!!!!! haven't talked to you in a while. how are things in your neck of the woods?
sandr.....fe5,20 is like the preceding word, with an extra vowel (2nd in the alphabet)
fe 5/20 is like the word before it but with an extra vowel
hello, cliffopa :-) and hey hey hey, evanonut!!! ;-)
hey mikey :) have people stopped calling you mickey yet?
hmm; not sure, cliffopa.....haven't seen anyone do it so far today, anyhow.....but i snuck in here quietly/unseen, and finished the entire grid before even announcing my presence (lol), so i haven't been 'active' in the chat long!
Very hot, cliff!! It may make it into the low 80's today -- otherwise doing good -- one step closer to permanent employment, and everyone is in good health :)
gw, thought you were in pa? is it supposed to get THAT warm today? ugh.
wow, GreyWoulf, that's amazing; it's only about 13°C here today! nice and sunny, though :-)
thanks for that
ok; make that 13 degrees Celcius.....this chat doesn't accept characters other than regular English letters and punctuation, apparently :-P
merci beaucoup mikey!
you're very welcome, sandr
evan -- according to Yahoo weather the projected hi is around 79 so it may nudge its way up a little I actually had to turn on the AC last night so Seb could sleep!
GW - i'm not ready for hot yet. glad to hear you are getting closer permanent employment - very important in life.
de rien, NowherePixie! ;-)
can i get clues forthe ca 6/42 please
my son called from georgia this morning - it was over 75 degrees at 8 am! and humid too. i can wait until july for that to happen up here.
awe! okay, i'm trying to think here. lemme know if you know the answer. i think i remember someone telling me once that you don't have to actually pay the state unless you owe at least five dollars...any takers?
I am not a big fan of hot myself, cliff -- after all, after you have removed all your clothes to feel comfortable outside, where do you go? Inside, of course. At least in the cold you can always put on another layer and stay outside :)
sandr, 'ca6,42' shares the same first 4 letters as the word that follows it, then add to that a term commonly used to refer to a past partner!
i'm the opposite gw. i'm always cold, i have an easier time cooling off than warming up.
i'm lucky enough to live in a state with no income tax. NH tries to get all its revenue from tourists!
i'm moving to nh then.
thanks mikey
again, you're very welcome, sandr :-)
GW - i am in complete agreement. i'm always saying the exact same thing about how there is only so much clothing you can take off!
cliff, that's what pools and sprinklers are for.
ja, cliffopa; which is why i prefer the cooler climate we have here! :-) but A/C is always nice in hot weather, too!
there is a large lake just 3 miles from me to cool off in, but guess what? in the summer there are too many tourists there!!!
Of course, the biggest problem I have in the summer especially is that Kirsten likes to keep it ridiculously cold -- she likes the room to be around 60 if at all possible -- that is too cold for me at any time for inside!
omg; i've just been viewing the 'Player Rankings' page.....what a lot of members this site has!!! anyhow; i'm just shaking my head and laughing at one of the nicks someone is actually using.....'fartalot' :-P
Should have been Sir Fartalot. Much more classy :p
evan -- no sprinklers available in my apartment complex and the pool has no shade to protect sensitive baby skin :\
i don't do lakes cliff, i'm afraid of the snakes!
omg mikey, what a moniker! should be 'sir fartalot' tho.
oh my yes, NowherePixie! ;-)
lmao, cliffopa!!! you and NowherePixie are on the same wavelength there, for sure.....great minds think alike? :-)
i really don't think i could live in an apartment, i grew up on a hundred acres, and the fourty i'm living on now feel small.
nut - no snakes!!! a few ducks and fish, but that's it. i think there is only one poisonous snake in all of NH (copperhead) and i've never heard of anyone who has seen one.
evan -- I am working on the whole house thing, though 40 acres would be a bit too much for me
Happy Saturday, all. Mikey, you sly dog, congratulations on finishing and then popping in with clues.
an avid fisherman once warned me of some poisonous snake that frequents the closest lake i know of. it was enough to scare me off totally.
mabberabberous!
i hear you, evanonut; i grew up in the country on a lot of land, too.....and have almost as much here; but i have done the apartment thing when i was living for a few years in Vancouver, BC.....top floor of a highrise with an oceanside view.....was lovely sitting out on the balcony in warm weather, having my tea/coffee in the morning, and meals, too! :-)
i'm with you nut on the wide open spaces. we can't wait til the youngest is out of college (1.5 more yrs) so we can go off and buy an old farm or isolated cabin in the woods. i don't like hearing my neighbors arguments.
why hello Mab!!! 'woof woof' and thank you!!! ;-)
nut, I need to know what your icon is -- I'm not seeing it properly and it's scaring me. By the way, I'm loving 10, especially the part when Stephanie is pinned to the ground by dogs trying to violate her.
cliff - i dream of the same thing
any clues for the sa's am on my final four words and i cant see then for love nor money!
okay....what is this about animals trying to violate someone?
mab: that's my little guy linky. 4 1/2 year old pretend cat, he thinks he's a tough little kitty, but he's actually a wuss. and the dog thing is one of my favorite parts ever, the whole "slobber" in the hair thing totally grossed me out!
cliffy - ever read janet evanovich?
and a belated Hi to you, mab :)
no. heard a lot about her the other day when she was the theme. i've been reading mostly stephen king and a few biographies lately.
well cliff, you wanted cheered up? read janet, she's laugh out loud funny.
sa5 -- related to taste and flavor
sandr; 'sa5,12' is a quality perceptible by taste, or like a 'v' word meaning 'fumes', only starting with an 'S' and 'sauger' after the 1st letter, is a garden tool.....or a small north American Pikeperch (fish)
sa 6 -- the word looks like the white sweet stuff you add to coffee with an extra vowel in the first syllable
got em thanks
Mikey -- nu nu nu nu
omg; sorry.....i had copied/pasted the actual word instead of the 'sa6,27', and not realized it when i pasted, as i was typing that quickly :-( omg; so sorry!!! :_(
ne help on the ex5 and 6
ok; i feel stupid now.....and am obviously too tired to handle this, after being up all night :-P so think i'm going to go, before i slip up like that again, and take a nap!!! so sorry!!!!! :_( *sniff*
You are forgiven, Mikey! :)
Freckle, i'd love to help you; but i'm afraid i'll make another horrendous mistake like i just did.....in dire need of sleep here!!! :-P i know the good people of Babble land will be glad to give you clues, though! ;-) good luck.....and see you all later!!! *waves*
and im finished - thanks for all your help
So long, Mikey -- rest well!
I think lots of people make that mistake by accident..have a good nap
Well done sandr!!!
ex + end of "I Walk the L---", sing and pl
what about fe5/20
ex = think booted out of country - change fourth letter to another consonant
fe = add extra vowel to the four before it
I'm sailing along today. It was a big mistake for me to attempt yesterday's grid -- I always, always, always panic and choke on those big grids. What a dolt to be intimidated by a game!
Hi Guys, How are you doing today?
bugger it all, lost a chunk of my cake flipping it out of the pan!
chix de clix!
llok at the bright side : at least you have a cake to be flipping bits about!
Or, you could *look* at the bright side instead.
Aw, nut. Just brush it off, squish the bits together and ice it.
I still don't understand the fe5/20
nut - i used to have that problem a lot. my sis-in-law is a pastry chef. showed me how to use parchment paper or waxed paper in the bottom of the cake pan to keep that from happening (we cliff's have lots and lots of trivial info like that)
Hi 'nut, Mab, Vicuna and GW!
Freckle, I don't either
LOL -- I like the way you think, mab -- but that only works for personal use
Hey chic!
Pretty image, chic. That looks like a celtic cross.
Hi, everyone!!! Hey there, GreyWoulf, How are things with you?
so, you just use the waxed paper instead of buttering and flouring the pan..or do you butter and flour the paper??
Hello, chic! Freckle and Peri, do you have fe4/9? If so, add a vowel to it such that it has a past tense ending.
cliff, i'm actually quite good with confections, the old people just loved my desserts when i worked in assisted living, the problem is that i was quite out of everything. i had nada, zilch, zero to work with but grease and flour...oh well, i'll just put a bunch more icing in that spot.
pinecone - you just do the sides of the pan with either butter, shortening. don't have to use the flour.
I once observed the owner of a small food shop in my local mall coming in from the parking lot with the box of bagels he had purchased for resale -- he dropped the box and some of the bagels got away -- he just picked them up and put them back in the box! Needless to say, I don't buy bagels from him anymore :o
Vicuna, thanks
hate bagels.
fe4/9 and fe5/20 hints
me too nut
You're welcome, Peri!
bless you hursh!
yummy nut - me love treats. yucky GW - me no like 'drops'
fe4/9 - hobby of the Hatfields and McCoys
peri -- things are great! Sebastian sleeps through the majority of the night and I am fairly certain I am about to be taken on permanent at the job I am currently temping for! :)
really cliff? have a nice, almost whole, marble cake here.
congrats gw!
I'm done! :D
*waiting almost patiently for invitation*
lol vi - hobby :)
does ne one have not the fighting fe4/9, but the other one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
* holds out engraved invite to cliffy *
Hi hurshy -- sorry I forgot to say hi to you earlier
Yey for GW -- that's wonderful, woulf! I thought you would get the permanent position because you made yourself indispensible, a great approach. And baby is sleeping!
i'll be right there. how far are you from NH? :)
GW - Great news re Sebastian. Will keep my fingers crossed re your job situation. When will they let you know?
there's only 1 fe4/9 freckle. theres a 4/7 and a 4/8 though.
you leave right now cliffy and i'm sure you can be here in time for dinner and dessert, which is (of course) when it will be out.
There is only one fe4/9, I believe.
'sok GW - i am SO not easily offended - and also not really here... doing a lot of other things
but you'd best get moving, i'd hate to think of the hubbies dark looks (shudder) if i were to make him late for bowling.
Vicuna do u have the fe5/20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) :):):):):):):):):):)
Thanks mab -- it isn't a lock yet, but they had me fill out the formal application for employment on Thursday, so I should hear something within the next week or so :)
*checking road map*
up to 100 words, time for a break, will be back to finish. It is a glorious day where I am. Going to sit and read on the balcony.
cliff, nut, we are all relatively close to one another. I'm in western Mass. (have I mentioned lately that I hate it here?)
Freckle, the fe5/20 is based off the 4/9. Take off the last letter of the 4/9, and then add a past tense ending back on.
just aim towards pittsburgh cliffy!
Finished now :) The boyfriend and I are going for a walk :) bye all!
clue for the non-body part le4,6?
mabbie, then you should try western pa, i love it here!
Freckle -- for the fe5 you take the fe4 meaning long running dispute and insert another vowel -- then drop the last 2 and make plural for the other fe4
i'll pick you up mab, but we won't make it to pitts for din din. you're in western ma right? we might make if for breakfast with the nut.
Hey to everyone near eastern Mass, I've got an open studio show in 2 weeks, and all Babblers are welcome!
cdn. opposite of right.
ca7/40 helphints?
Unlike you and cliff, I am completely a city person. I didn't know that until I moved here.
need a clue for the first ca6/21 please
pixie - got that one, it's the 4,7. still need the second 4,6 though...

I vote for waffles, evan :)

cliffy's have been making their own maple syrup for almost 90 years!
Freckle - ne8=those who use pointy sewing tools....

although, i suppose it could also be a banjo fight between two people...
yw, freckle.....
vic - i love approaching storm, that is a great one gw - sure, shall we eat on the deck?
Angelsong, I like to think my work is nice, but I'm not sure it will actually aid anyone in their Babble game! :) (It doesn't even seem to help me!)
I want some fam bacon, maple syrup and waffles, too!
Thanks, evanonut. (It's inspired by my mother, who doesn't own a clothes drier, and refuses to use mine when she visits!)
you better hop on a jet then chic - you're a long way off. hurry up and you still might make it for breakfast.
sure chic, but you may need a plane to get here by tomorrow morning!
in6,21 anybody?
Vicuna, that isn't the point. It's just a way to share the site with others...doesn't have to help with Babble to be included :)
Vicuna, I love your art work; very original...
pa6/24 help/hints
Well then, sure, Angelsong! Thanks! :)
Uh, no flying for me... but I can bring juicy sweet, red grapefruit from my tree...
she's a smart lady. i'm going on five years of being promised a clothesline, and zero of having one.
cdn: take your brolly today, in6 it rains.

DOES NE BODY HAVE THE PA6'S - HINTS PLZ
I'll have Scotty beam me over....
i meant to say 'our part of NORTH america' but somehow my fingers missed that.
She is a smart lady - I admire her greatly. But we're temporarily living in a rental house with no drier now, and when we discover after dinner that kids have no clean underwear and husband has no clean socks... I really want my drier back! :)
Movieman: same root as previous words, but end with vowel plus high-point letter
i imagine it is about time we have a northeast us babblers convention.
Movie, ca 6 is ca + not me but * plus the front of the book with info is called an in***

Thanx, chic.....
oops, movieman, meant following words, same root.

Sorry to drop out of the convo -- daughter had a messy issue I had to deal with -- she is going in the tub as I type
Freckle, cliffopa gave it at 1:14

*opening strange envelope - addressed to first name only* *no return address*
cliff, if it has white powder - RUN!
1st pa6 is a unit of astronmical distance -- also used as a time measure by Han Solo when describing how quickly he completed the Kessel Run
help pls with re 6/21 (the 1st one) thanx
easter card from my mom. i'm thinking she must have been sending a lot if she is not even using last names or return address. this hallmark thing has gotten out of hand. (she only lives 1 mile from me and i'm having din din with her tomorrow)
Freckle, start with pa4/5 to take the peel off fruit or veg, then add last 2 letters of the cross-town b-- (first two initials of the country whose flag is next to my name)
i hope when i'm retired i don't spend all my time buying and sending cards.
LOL cliff, i had the emergency personel on hold, so i suppose i can false alarm them?
Great clue, GW!
There will be a babble gathering in London in June... How I would love to go. Jera would like to have a convention in the DC area (which is where I'm from), but I don't think I can even afford to get that far. Would love to meet Jera and Deutsch.
GW, that made me laugh out loud!
i think my mom's the one who we need the emergency crew for. i'm gonna call her.
Mab I need the first ca6/21
Then my mission in life is nearing completion, chic ;D
perhaps a little more north then? harrisburg, erie, etc.
ros a type of salad
rosalind, ca6/21 - title of Julius or Augustus
se5/16?
GW, ever win lots at 'trivial pursuits'?
ca 6/21 is a kind of salad with romaine lettuce, croutons, and a salad dressing named after the salad, or else the title for the Roman Emperor (julius ......) Or, ______'s Palace in Las Vegas
Help with yi5,16?
se 5/16 a verbal bridge...used alot in newscasts
not really -- I am great at useless and science related stuuf, but history was never my strong point
se5/16 - ending as in Little Lea***
se 5/16 is a musical term
Thanks everyone I have found it at last
yi5 - like an m word for chop up fine or m----meat pie, but change the first letter
thank you kim :)
can anyone help with re 6/21 (the 1st one) pls??? thnx
argh! mom says she does'nt know what last name to use for my hubby & me since i use my maiden name. lame excuse. pick a name, any name.
re 6/21 = re + a word like what you do with needle and thread but with 3 vowels one after another
cliff, wouldn't it be easier just to pick up his? i mean unless you have one of those established clientel careers i suppose.
thx arb!
I am looking for the sa 6/27 word. Does anyone have a clue?
It's a type of fish - s plus au5/16
sa 6/27 -- something like the white sweet stuff you put in coffee but with an extra vowel and the vowels a little mixed up
This site has been weird for me today. It says one minute until the puzzle closes. Do any of you have odd things happening today?
sa6/27 - s + au5 tool used for boring holes
Everybody sing now, "Refresh, refresh, refresh! It's time for Merk to refresh!"
i'll spare you my singing voice!
It's the babble mantra
cliffy, didn't offend did i? i'm good at that!
okay, here's the deal on the name thing. forget you ever heard this after i'm done. my first name rhymes with fatty and i had to listen to that for about 18 yrs. my hubby's last name often gets shortened to 'Tank' anyone getting the picture? it just doesn't sound as nice as my given names. also, in my 1st marriage i took that person's last name - happened to sound almost like my 1st name. people thought i was stuttering. after divorce went back to original name. 1st husband disappeared in 1983, son hasn't seen him since. son changed his last name to my last name at 18 to show unity with cliffy family. there. now forget i ever said it. just keep calling me cliff, cliffie, cliffy, etc.
it is the babble mantra. after, oops, of course. however, every time I refresh, the page just keeps on refreshing over and over and over.
The best naming advice I ever saw was written on the bathroom wall in college: Only ever marry people with the same last name as you. (Of course, I didn't follow it myself.)
lol cliffy - i can assure you that i have seen the worst of all names ever. some i wondered what the parents were thinking, others the poor women married into. one poor girl went from a fecal sounding name to a fecal sounding name.
vic, my cousin followed that advice.
Interesting, cliff. I never took my ex's name, but I did take my late mother's last name. It was sort of confusing. Fortunately I'm divorced now and live where no one knows me, so it's no longer confusing. Oooo, your ex, cliff! Would you like me to help you hurt him? I don't understand how people can abandon children.
Did that cousing marry another of your cousins? My cousins are the only other people I've ever met with my maiden name!
looking for te 5/16. i'm stumped 18 words to go. i'm not looking forward to tackling the ca's
GW, were you around the other week, when I was telling folks about the show on the hist. chan. called "How William Shatner changed the world?' Did you catch that show?
no vic, my last name is so common around here that it happens quite a bit. i envy her, never had to change it on everything. how lovely that would have been
te 5/16 An ankle-high moccasin worn in parts of Mexico and the Southwest.
yes I was, and yes I did -- I thought it was a great program! :)
te5/16 - try se5/16 but change the first and last letters
thanks guys! Good hint, vic. got it!
new word for me. i'll have to try to incorporate it into daily conversations....
I had a dream about playing babble last night. Very weird.
I just got a new flip phone that's a camera, a radio, takes video pics, you can play a game and send text and pics to other places. It reminded me of that show..Now if it would just shoot lasers....
also, i'll have to whip it out next time i play boggle with my friend who complains that I don't use 'normal' words
chix, you get that gadget up and running yet?
ok, I need a clue for ca 6/27 and ca 7/40, please
mab - i just don't get it either. i wanted to strangle him for about 10 - 15 yrs, then just felt like it was probably the best thing that he disappeared. my son does not seem bothered by it - and my present husband has been in his life for 11 yrs.
I haven't tried to take a pic yet and I think I need a plug in for the port so I can download to the 'puter...
sometimes what seems like a curse is actually a blessing. i believe i speak from experience on that.
ca6/27 - add a vowel and the ending of the sharp ne6/21
amen nut.
ca7/40 is the plural
But my digital camera is charged and I'm taking pics today. It's sunny today we had a lot of overcast and wind yesterday..
i'm looking at this bandana, which i'm supposed to wear on my head tonight, and trying to figure out if i can actually make it look good. i mean, sure, some women can pull of the bandana look, but i'm just not thinking i'm one of them.
chic! That's some telephone! I don't think I'd ever figure it all out. Would be perfect if it was a phaser (is that the right star trek wordd?) too. Although I would probably abuse it, stunning anyone who merely annoyed me.
thanx, Haz! I always miss the wrap arounds....
what is the bandanna for?
mab - if it stunned, then stephanie would have one.
You're welcome, chic.
nut! did you join a gang? did you have to kill someone?
bowling cliffy, we've been theming each week. last week was cut offs, wanna see?
lol mab - no! i'd get fired!
well yah!
that's my point, Mab!
You just need the right bandana, evan
i have a pink one!
is your mail in your prof cliff?
yep
gw saw it, we had great cut offs didn't we gw?
I was thinking more black, evan -- something to stand out
Oh 'nut, I was thinking Bette White might be good for Gramma Masur. Ithought of Estelle Getty first but she's sick now.
hello to everyone, its my first time here, need to catch up with the babble language..... regards to everyone...
Welcome, sid!
Hi Sid, welcome to nutty Babbleland. We're really friendly and don't bite.. Well not often anyway....
Go with black with skulls, evan -- then dare anyone else to call you a shrimp!!! ;D
thanks shutterbug! i'm from the philippines, anyone from my country in this community... i'm beginning to love the game..
Welcome, sid. If you'd like to know just about everything there is to know about babble, take a look at Angelsong's Babble Page - link at the right.
'nut, were you in the armed forces?
thanks too chic!!!
thanks for the info mab... btw where are you from guys/gals???
chic - no! i wanted to, but i didn't cause it made my mom panic. i wanted to be a marine!
Thanx for the "sweet" sa clue. I went off to eat lunch and just tried it now. Is there a clue for the re 6/21?
re6/21 - to plant again
hints for te/16
gw, bummer, i don't have time to go buy a new one. and shrimp are kindof pink aren't they? and i AM a shrimp! we are team shrimp. cliffy, having mail trouble now, i may be sending it fifty times. sorry!
sid, you can click our 'sex symbols' and get profiles...
TE5/16 Hints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Haz, you've become my life safer. I am so blind sometimes, especially when I can't stick at this. It was the other one that I needed though. :-)
well, go with what you have and make up for any perceived lack with pure attitude!
The other one is re plus the swirly letter and the French for water (as in *** de toilette)
good advice gw, but i think i will make up for it with make up first. i did give attitude last week though. i gave it to this jerk who keeps bugging me when the hubby nut is up to bowl.
Attitude! 'nut has plenty of that!!
TE5/16 HINTS
te5/16 - te plus first letters of someone who works in security. Celebrities have their personal ones.
calm down freckle. if you have se 5/16, then change the first and last letters to get te 5/16 . hint courtesy of vic
I find that a well placed heel on an insole does pretty good too ;)
i hate being touched, i like my space, and he always comes up and puts hands on my shoulder or hugs me. can't stand it, was a little soused, told him to f off.
i meant instep -- juggling Seb so a little distracted

The so 4/4 before the achey feeling ends in a different vowel.
nut, anyone who did not try and finish yesterday's puzzle is a genius.
re5/10 - to use your eyes again
re 5/10 to perceive by sight again
re6/21 hints for both plz
would have tried cliffy, but comp wouldn't cooperate!
re6/21 - the first - re plus swirly letter plus French water. re6/21 - to plant again (think of what you plant)
i didn't want to try, but it kept calling to me. i swear it did!
no cliff, that was me trying to live vicariously through you with the aid of esp.
I hate to be touched also, especially when I'm not expecting it. I sometimes automatically shout "don't touch me!' before I can even think. It's pretty effective.
i was crying with under an hour until the flip - with 75 words to go!!! why did you do that?
in licketysplits's printed list it's showing an id4 5... that can't be right surely?
mab, "leave me the f*** alone" seems to work pretty good too. found a red and orange flamed bandanna in the back of the dresser. how will that do?
i see no id's at all.
I see 2 ic's and an in in lickety's list
You're right - there's no id word.
so sorry cliff, i would have got mab, but she was blocking me somehow!
I have lickety's list but 'id' is not on it
scatch the last message, I was looking at yesterday's list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
re4/7 hints ??????????
mab - you gotta teach me the blocking thing.
There no Id showing in my licketys list.
thanks chic... mab, i already visited the link thanks again, its really informative
re4/7 hints
alright, the red and orange look good, and bonus is that they detract from the huge zit on my chin.
re4/7 - shortened version of match officials re4/7 - often preceded by 'be' to mean suffering loss
I printed today's list on the back of yesterdays, that's why the confusion.... my effort to recycle paper!!!
re4s--Do you have the sports judge, or the rules he quotes?--slang Hi all, I've been lurking trying to do without the list first! Book
can someone help me with the de 5/22 and the de 6/36 please and thank you.
Your intentions were good, Ginger. It's just as well you discovered in time what was going on.
Working backwards, haven't got there yet, cliffopa
pa6/ hintz too?
de5/22 - add an elf-like ending and pluralise for the 6. Look at the points.
i'm working backwards too :)
pa6/24 is the plural of the preceding pa5. Golf score (first three letters) then start of a continent
clif...i had to get those just by playing around with letters... de6/24 odd spelling, but group who sang 80's song "come on eileen"....****** midnight runners de5/22 would be the single of it it isn't in dictionary.com
cliff -- old-fashioned slang for uppers, or whatever they call stimulant drugs these days, and it's plural.
freckle, one pa/6 -- when life's going to fast, hit the p**** button, and add an r on the end
haz - those elf's are a drug commonly known as uppers in the US of A
evan -- the red and orange will be much better -- sorry for the time lag -- had to walk Seb around to get the burp out :)
and thanks everyone - now i feel really lame for missing them :(
ah, sorry, it IS in dictionary.com.... it's a slang abbreviation for a pill or tablet with a certain cough medicine in it
The educational benefits of babble....
see? we're all learning here. at least that is what i tell my husband anyway.
but he is a cy 5/18 and doesn't quite believe me
I like my One Hit Wonder reference better

Hello bexetal - there are 154 words today and I like to use Lickety's babble clues because you can fill the words in.
os4 anyone?
Thank you both :-) right off I go...
ca6/24 - the root is the ca4. Then add almost frozen water.
os4 - add the first letters of Governor Schwarzenegger's name.
haz, i'm sure you've heard this before but i have to say it again. you are a great clue-giver!
FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FLIP:):)::):) :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) :):):):):):):)

Thnx tons every -- tons of chocolate.
Ginger- you're probably suffering the after-effects of yesterday's monster!
oooo chocolate! that's so my trigger word
LOL now that could be true!
54 word to go, maybe I will actually finish a puzzle.
if u have se6/30 then u just change the first and last letters
te 5,16 An an ankle high mocasin from SW USA
what if you don't have se6/30?
I gotta go have a lavation and then go to the library! Hurry c ya 2nite pepz
I need ca 6/24 and 6/21 (they occur in order)
use last ca4/5 and add diff ends :)
se 5,16 is se??? way.... > an introduction
te5/16 - te plus first letters of 'Changing of the ***rd'
Haz, I agree, your clues are marvelous!
Thanks, haz! That's the kind of clue I needed today!
anyone have a clue for the final ne 7/32
I enjoy giving them!
The final ne7/32 is the plural sharp thing (to which incidentally I am allergic, along with thread)
yes! done!
haaha, thanks, i didn't put it in cause i thought i already did!
lol haz, I have the same allergy!
Well done, cliffopa!
Woohoo ! Done!
sa5/12?
harpjane - my allergy started at school with a sewing teacher whose standards I found impossible to reach. I can sew if I have to, but given the choice I confine it to sewing the stuffing into the turkey at Christmas....
I've actually been known to hire someone to fix a missing button!
cliffy, did you get it?
sa5/12 - add the beginning of a word that can be a type of alcohol or a town by the sea.
Just noticed I'm exactly half way. 77 words found. 77 to go.
oh dillemma! i also have red hot peppers bandana!
I have 80 words now
thanks, haz, sa6/30?
47 words left to find
I always hated the start of the school year when my daughters would have to get name labels sewn into their uniforms. The most annoying time was when a Home Economics teacher pointed out to my daughter that the label on her apron wasn't sewn on very well and to get it redone. There happened to be an Open Evening at the School that day. I introduced myself to her as 'Fiona's mother - the woman who can't sew'. She wasn't sure what to say!
sorry, nut. didn't get anything yet :(
bugger!
ca6/42?
se6/30 is the past tense of the se5 - add the letters that end Little Lea*** and past tense it
Fiona is one of my favorite names & the one I give to strange men in bars (should they ask) The story about yr daughter is a classic!
also second ca6/21
i wonder if it somehow ended up in my junk mail folder. i didn't really look at it before emptying it out about 5 - 10 min ago.
ca6/42 - this is difficult to clue, so bear with me. c plus the first two letters of the season that follows summer. Then add three letters that are a homonym for decks.
i'm sending it again a different way
peri - there only is one ca6/21 - is that what you need?
look for crapmail cliffy, i used my wrong address
I'm looking for ca6/24 and 21.. 1 after the other unless i've marked wrong
Haz, on lickety's list there are two ca6/21, the first is a type of salad, yes the one I need is the clue you gave but I can't quite figure it out
Sorry, periwinkle - my mistake as I didn't have the list scrolled back properly. I'll work on a clue.
I remember a very exacting home economics sewing teacher as well, Haz. She would look at whatever I'd just finished, shake her head and say 'Oh, I see lots of problems here.' I don't know if it's still taught in all schools here anymore; I hope not.
ca 6/21 is the protein dervied from milk used to make cheeses...even 'soy' cheeses use it.
ar 7/32?
I hated home economics, I never completed any project. Somehow managed to pass though.
The second ca6/21 is based on the ca4/5. Add a two letter preposition. The ca6/24 has the same root, but has a higher scoring letter on the end.
ar 7/32 and old lace?
ar 7/32 is a type of poison
wassup - think poison or old movie ar***** and old lace
ca 6/21...ca+(a coil of yarn for knitting minus the k)
How goes the bandanna, nut? Are you wearing it like a headband, alice band, or babushka?
ahh, I was working in a circle around that one. Thanks!
nut, can't retrieve deleted junk mail. try again? or did you already try?
ca 6/27 and ca7/40?
I remember that when I took home ec we had to make baked macaroni and cheese for one class and I was convinced that the teacher had goofed because it didn't look like the Kraft Mac & Cheese we made at home! :D I was smart enough to not verbalise my concerns at least :)
I should have known that having looked for it on many a food container having has a milk intollerant child!
ca 6/27 is like the word with the wick with a change for the n letter
already tried, that's the crapmail one - do i need to go again??????
6/27 is a homonym for what you do to cook an egg gently, or any sort of exceedingly gentle treatment (milquetoast and molly******ed eggs)...but it's a homonym
the ca 7 is the plural
I must go - my sister is 50 tomorrow and we're having a family dinner here so there's dessert to be made. Happy hunting everyone!
bye haz
got it Thanks! Lunch time now.
Thanks for your grat clues Haz... have a nice day tomorrow!
finally found the 2nd ca6/21 thanks
fe5/18?
Thanks Ginger - bye!
yeah nut, try again.
Bye Haz. Happy Birthday to sis and thanks for the clues.
2nd ca5/12
Nevermind -- I have become the latest victim of the babble monster -- I entered the words earlier today and the site ate them!
nevermind, found it
hey cliffy, just refresh!
I didn't know about the babble monster...sounds scary
can't figure out the first ca6/24, I think Haz gave a clue for it
hi everyone
and now I am done!!
also need ca6/42 - the CA words are driving me nuts today
Congrats to you GW!!!
ca word = a suit _ _ _ _ + cube of water without the final e
if you have the second 6/21, the first 6/24 is the same with the last letter changed
peri, ca 6/24- suit**** + 1st 2 letters of frozen water
maybe not a monster but definitely a beastie -- it seems to demand tribute in the form of words from random players lists in return for not shutting down the site ;D
wassup, great clue, thanks
thanks pinecone and benda
ca 42 first 4 letters of the next word + old boyfriend term

pinecone, great clue thanks, lots of great clue givers here today. hope I can return the favor
yes, well, bit hard to see in the little bitty boxes, but as you can see, we've all cut the sleaves off our shirts.
the good thing about itty bitty boxes is that everyone looks so slim & trim!
ah, yes, does a good job of squeezing in that honky tonk ba donk a donk of mine
ok, now i need to go get some real work done... thanks for all your help today!
se5/12
se 5/12 - mass of ice (se 4/4 above + 3rd letter)
hubby is in the kitchen, supposedly creating a 'vision' for dinner. what do you suppose that means?
okay people, these balls aren't going to throw themselves. i'm off to help lead the shrimp to victory!
evan - I appreciate that you know/like Trace Atkins - but you have nothing to be down on yourself about
Good luck nut!
Dippnall, thanks
I was just reading everyone's profiles. You can't tell who anyone is, age, etc from the screenname. I think it's funny though that my name on here is wassup. It sounds like I'm 10. I put it in there as a joke when I signed up because I was just "trying it out" and never expected to go "pro". :)
cliff -- when most of myfriends say that, it usually means to have pizza on speed dial! ;D
I have a few minutes to work a bit on the grid today---hi to all.
Maybe you have to be spiritually inclined to see the dinner cliffy. Doesn't sound very filling.
nice grid today!
34 left to find, time for another break
Still and all, it's wonderful to be cooked for.
fe5/20?
hello pbr. i always have to look twice when i see your screen name. i often want to see it as pbj : wassup - i actually thought you were older than you are. GW - i smell real food cooking.
I know what you mean wassup. Used my surname when I started as my son (18 yrs) babbled alongside me - but didn't become addicted...........she says as she rocks to and fro.......
That's funny! I assume everyone thinks I'm some kid screwing around on here. :) pbr, I always think of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer.
only one prob with hubby cooking - i'm the dishwasher.
cliff -- a few of my friends can truly cook, the others though... it starts out smelling like real food and then rapidly goes downhill from there.... next thing you know there are smoke alarms and shouting and water everywhere!!! :-D
...creak.....and the crypt opens
But I exaggerate.... a little ;)
That sounds like a day in my kitchen GW. I made hashbrowns last night. The house smelled wonderful, but the potatoes were not.
Hi Ren
hey wassup - hey all
Hey ren!! wassup - that is one dish I cannot make -- I don't have the patience to make hash browns -- thankfully Kirsten makes hb that are to kill for :)
how'd you sleep ren?
Yay! Rennie hasn't succumbed to her 'cough, cough' illness! How feelest thou?
i gotta go. my wonderful stepson just showed up. musta smelled the cooking. i have to go get a fix of mother/son time since the other one is down south now. catch ya'll later.
from now on, I'm sticking to fried potatoes. the grating and everything...just not worth it. I make a mean peanut butter and jelly sandwich though. :)
later cliff!
Bye cliff.
rx is working wonderfully mab....
Evening all, hope you have all had/are having a good day.

good news, ren. nut just went bowling. earlier I was telling her how much I was enjoying evanovich's 10.
hey renfield
I dont believe in the ce 4/5. It doesn't exist. Anyone who has proof?
oh, shame...found it
Can anyone give me a clue for the de 5/22 and the de 6/36?
spell out the letter and make it plural.
hey pbr sorry i missed nut..... i haven;t read 10
ylleria: it's another slang word for 'uppers,' or drugs that are stimulants. Think of fairies and use the high-point letter.
sa6/27?
Hey, Ren, Wassup, pbr, Gotta horse race on 10 min.
It's my first reading of evanovich and it's very funny. It's just what I needed.
time for me to go -- see you folks around :) (*Hugs*) TTFN
hey chic
Bye, GW!
sorry, i should have said it's the de 5/22 and the de 6/24 that I'm after
Ah, chic, horse racing is so beautiful. Too bad Jessica Tandy is not available for Grandma Mazur.
Bye GW.
I have only been able to work every other day on the grids -- too busy. This is a great break today. Where I live it was just confirmed 2 young boys who had been missing, were found drown in a local park....sad
Oh pbr, that's awful. Stuff like that makes me want to keep my kids locked in the house safe with me.
i believe the two boys were 12/11 -- only my guess they got too close to the water and one tried to help the other and both were lost.
Oh yes, Mab, Tandy would have been good. I love horse racing; we follow the prep derby races. Today's are the Blue Grass stakes and the Arkansa. Kent. Derb. in 3 weeks!
de6 is a plural of the five - to remove frozen water from the wings of an airplane, for example. the 5/22 that I have is the singular stimulant drug.
chic & mab, we went to see the horse races at our local racetrack recently. what a kick! i lost about 20 bucks and had a great time!
That's just horrifying, pbr.
Help with ce 5/12 please?
got de 5/22 and de 6/24. Didn't know that was a drug term. Hmmm, out of the loop!
Merk ce*** to exist
another word for to stop, Merk.
they race quarter horses here but we haven't been yet. bbl, it's on....the race that is...
Gotta go! Family's going to get some vietnemese food. Mmmm, pho soup! Catch y'all later!
have fun wassup

pana, you must be on pins and ********
THANK YOU!
Help - only 4 left to find: the first ca 6/24 ce 4/5 te 5/14 te 6/27 With your help I should be able to finish for the first time ever!!
mah - you might have to recite your A B ____
te 6/27 is the plural of the te above it
MAH, ce4 sounds like you the word for Mediterranean, Red, and Dead ****.
ahhh that won't help since you need the te5 -- it is a moccasin worn by an indian women
te 5/14, itsy bitsy *** weeny yellow polka dot.....
Te 6 is the plural of the five above it. Do you need the 5?
te5/16 te + the first 3 letters of a gu4
se 5/16 anyone?
Yo Torgone
MAH, howsit going?
Heya mab!
Many thanks for all your help. I'm down to the very last one - the first ca 6/24.
se, knitter, means a transition, as from one television segment to another, or one topic of conversation to another.
MAH take the ca 4 above it and add two letters. An egotist might sing, OH SAY CAN * * BY THE DAWN"S....
MAH - think of the waxy thing with the wick and then change the third letter to a vowel.
Torgone -- what is our menu for Easter?
ahhh can't find that se 5
se to move from one thought to another
Um . . . ham, mashed taters, gravy, corn muffins ..
apparently i have no thoughts at this late hour!!!!
se sounds like you're eyeing gook if it's pronounced phonetically
aknitter - It sounds the same as that stupid wheeled stand-up contraption ..
last 2 words- need clues for re 6/21 (1st one) re 5/12
knitter: se plus consonant plus two letters that look odd but rhyme with 'way' Remember on the old Carsen show when someone would abruptly switch from a story to a joke - someone else would say with irony 'nice se5!'
any clues for gu 6.27 and 7.40 thnx
Many thanks harpjane. It took me a while to work it out. As I'm an expat from old blighty, had to ask my husband for his help. A very good clue. Yipee - I've finished!!!
yw, MAH, you'r apple looks SOOOO good. Don't feel bad, a lot of Americans don't know the words to our national anthem anyway.... (But we know what J Lo is wearing!)
re 5/12 if you take something and utilize it again re 6/21 spell stitching as if it's French and begin the word with re
oh mab thank you so much. i had the sound of the word in my empty head but just couldn't work it out
First re6/21: re plus winding letter plus french for water.
fe5/20 anyone?
thanx, Cobra and Mab I'm done and off to make dinner...
fe 5/20 a family fight with an extra 2nd vowel
lynxxxxxxxxxxxxxx: the gu word is the name of a country or an old fashioned brit currency. or gu pig.
thanks aknitter!
thnx mab
aknitter, I'm surprised you got the word from my rambling clue, but mazel tov.
mab i was having trouble with the ending, you rambled me right into it
ra5/12?
Eva, add an S.
pa 5/12 --- the one right after the thing you'd wear to the beach
DUH! Thanks Mab.
Torgone, do you know how ham came to be the standard for Easter? Just curious.
hi - is one of the fr words a fight? cause i can't get 'my' spelling up
No I don't, mab ..
aknitter - if you have the 4/5 above, just add a vowel to the end.
got it ty
What are you having for greens? (don't do brussels sprouts - yech)
personally i like spinach for a green or lima beans
Done! Nice to have a manageable one after yesterday.
My crew aren't into veggies too much, so I'll probably warm up some canned beans or something. I am making a sweet potato for me ..
ooo, I love a baked sweet potato.
lynxxx - none of the fr words means 'fight'.
SA 5/12?? May I have a clue?
Here's a brussel sprout recipe that's sure to please.... Chop them in a Cuisinart, add lots of garlic, romano cheese, marsala wine, chopped prosciutto, and a bit of cream (or non-fat coffee creamer). Throw into a casserole, top with more romano cheese, and bake until golden. It will convert you.
This probably sounds awful to you, but I'm looking forward to a big ol' baked sweet potato with ham gravy ..
sa 5/12 A quality perceptible to the sense of taste; flavor
what is ham gravy??????????????
Ham gravy = Nectar of the Gods ..
how does one make ham gravy
mab - sa 5/12 = sa + what you are when when have no money minus a vowel in the middle.
Do those pink hams produce drippings or juice with which to make gravy? By the way, anything that's not a dessert is good with gravy.
Thanks aknitter and MAH.
Yep, mix up the drippings with some corn starch & water .. Yum.
Cobra Limes, even cardboard would be changed into something tasty if you added garlic, romano cheese, marsala wine, chopped prosciutto, and a bit of cream!
Have to go make pizzas. Back in a few ..
what are those stupid eg words???? any clues floating around?
Cobra, it sounds delicious, but not kosher (and I'm allergic to dairy).
Corn muffins, mmmm..
Mab, you can forget the prosciutto (add a bit more marsala wine for that smokey flavor) and use a nondairy creamer. Does that work?
eg words are like the ed words, but without the d.
aknitter think of one who throws egs at a house for example, and its plural.
It would...I just might try that.
found them, never heard of them but i have them --- chocolate eggs coming your way for your help
Hi, everyone. Zipping in for a quickie before doing the bunny thing.... Any hints for the ce4/5 and the second ne7/32 (not the pointy one) Much appreciated--Book
Ok. Done. This where I begin to redeem myself for taking on that awful grid yesterday, and then choking. Think I'll toddle on over to Sudoku, attempt it, then find my knitting ne7 (going to make kitty blankets - I need a man) and watch a DVD. Woo hoo. Living on the edge.
Oh, mab, thanks!!!!
ne7 - still the pointy word, just change the last letter. ce4: spell out the letter.
Hullo, book. BOTH ne7's are the pointy ones--just different last letters
and for 8 points. make one of them plural1
i mean 8 letters
Yay mab!!!!
Has anyone found a word yet for the CA 5/12 that is located after the word for autos and before the basket you use to carry clothes in when vacationing? No one could find it a few hours ago when I was here.

The third letter is the highest numbered tile. The last two letters are vowels and then pluralize it for the second word.

"Wassup", you in here?
FINISHED! time to have Easter lunch with the relies! have a lovely easter and chat later. bye! (waving, not drowning) :))
of course I'm here!
Does anyone have the SA5/12?
forget it found it from an earlier clue I didn't see at first.
Hi, I'm new from KS, land of Oz. Why won't it take words that are in the dictionary. Can you just use the words that are selected? Thanks.
Yup, I have the sa5, but it's a word I've never seen before--came upon it by monkeying. You take your so4, juggle the vowels, and then add an "r". Good luck.
Finished! Bells and whistles! Whoopee. I only wish I had finished last night! I went until the end time and couldn't get the job done ... not enough hours in a busy day. Happy Easter to all and to all a good night!
Well rump, I find it takes words that are NOT in the dictionary, which is worse.
SueQ!!!!!! Are you there?
I am new, too, and from what little I have learned, this uses a different dictionary (enable?)- a lot of foreign, obscure and crazy words...you get really used to it real fast....take heart and pay attention to the word number count and point values....
Wassup!!!! It's me!!!!
Haloo Haloo! How's your list? I have 39 left
I'm back and willing to give a few clues....
Good Grief, not even close. I do have a life after all!
Not me!
janianniah, how about a clue for a 7 ltr. word.
rumple- ne 7/32- plural of the thing used to sew on a button

The sharp thing
ne***** and threads
also, ne7- one who wields a ne***** is a ne>r
then pluralize for the 8/45
going to dye some eggs with the kids. see you later!
ok, I'm back. Anyone have ce 4/5? I'm only missing 10!
ce4/5 spell out the c and make it plural
CE4/5 is the plural of the letter C spelled out phonetically.
Goodnight It's almost midnight. 11 words left to find but not worth it. nighty-night
Ms. Teacher, are you going to want my help?
