hello all!!
hi there
(((Liv)))) (((knutmeg)))
Hey, Mum, would you believe LIv is already conked out. She really just needed my complete attention for a few minutes

Hey Everyone, My Clues are up. I made a few additions - hope you all find it useful.
helen -- didn't see you come in! :-)
thanks Lickety!
are these clues open to all? how can i see them?
did I say -- thanks? I meant WOW!!!!!!! *+*+*+*+*+*fireworks for Lickety*+*+*+*+*+*+*
oh, lickety, very neat, thanks!!
Thanks Lickety.
hiya stid - was trying to finish last one before closing time
Lady C: click on "Lickety's Babble Clues" in the "Friends of Babble" box to the right of your screen...
Thank you all! Have a good puzzle! Campari - check the link on the right.
nice, lickety!
thanks for the tip, and thanks for the clues. obviously, i'm brand new here and don't know my way around
Lady_Campari - It's best to go pro for only $9.95 for life - That way you get completion stats as you play on each letter of the grid. I'm not registered - but my wife is. I don't play - just help with clues for when you get stuck.
Don't worry Lady, everyone is wonderfully helpful and nice, and before long you'll be addicted like the rest of us. :-)
it's okay, Lady-C I was away for a couple days, and feel really out of touch (no wi-fi in the mountains...). Another resource to check is Angelsong's Page, linked just above Lickety's... she has oodles of great links to sites that can help you find words, and all the info from this site on how to play the game.
i see. that's pretty cheap. i only discovered this website yesterday, so i'm still checking it out, but at this price, i may as well go pro.
thanks for the advice stidmama
ok gotto go now.... see you all around Njoy....
Et 7/40
later 9tanks, thanks for the help earlier!
okay, I have 100 words to go, need to take care of some correspondence before I enter slumberland. good night, all! ***Liv*** (((knut))) {{{all}}}

Morning dear gang :)
Hi Sprite.
Morning sprite :)
How are you doing?
still 1/2 asleep and making a bit of a hash of sudoku at the mo!
I did the same, had to start over with it. But it's finished now.
have fun with the grid, I only popped into say morning ... back to sudoku.
Ah - some familiar faces, so to speak. There must be something wrong with me - I woke up at 7am!
Bright and early on this beautiful day... sounds like it couldn't be better with you ;)
I am too tired to Babble anymore. Must leave and finish tomorrow. But I know I am leaving it in good hands. Nite all.
I think the last time I saw 7am was when I was _still_ up, not just up
Sweet dreams broll ;)
All the time I see you people posting 'teehee' here... and now it isn't valid???
It won't take yipee either - I guess some comic-book words are valider than others...
It's not fair, is it?
It certainly isn't - if I were a comic book word, I think I'd sue!
Ho7/32 fits right into the easter theme, though.
I thought so too, Sprite. The grids have been seasonal lately - we've had easter and hare in the last couple of days
I love it when that happens :)
the Weltgeist means well with us...
Must like us a lot, just called us Ho6/27.
morin all
...and sw6/30
Hi hannah! Oh, my favorite babble word of all times is in this one! Y4/10 :D
the top right has a couple of babblets as well...
Halfway through, time to make my family a nice breakfast. Back later :)
Evening all!
Hi Mrpresident
Hi MrP!
Woot! Finished!!
knut gets *~*~*~FIREWORKS!~*~*~*
Yay Knut! What are you doing up at this hour!?!
Too much caffeine with Easter Dessert.
And addictive puzzle which really flowed well for me.
knut, I am recycling the easter eggs in tonights dessert! What did you have??
Ah - just glanced at your bio, thought it might be feeding time! Where's Mundelein? I was born in ILL, but the name doesn't ring a bell...
strawberry shortcake was my dessert... my grandpa makes a nummy cup of coffee, though, hence the caffeine.
Mundelein is pretty much due north of Chicago, right near LIbertyville and Vernon Hills.
Aha, that's why - my turf's the Kewanne area
Can't even spell it right - Kewanee
Yep, that's a bit out there. Bet it is pretty, though. I live in suburbia galore, not a lot of space around unless you go to a forest preserve.
Well, I'm off to catch a few Zzz's before Liv wakes up again. G'night All!!
Good morning, all.
morning here too
Oh good, I wasn't sure who else would be around - how are you this morning?
getting harrassed by a kitten who doesn't think one packet of IAMS is enough for her breakfast!
The persistence of the feline for food is legendary!
yes! I keep telling her she'll be sick if she eats more, but that seems to be an acceptable situation if it means more food
Sorry - was called to the phone there. Poor husband is trying to deal with a computer problem at work and was asking me for advice. Me?!
men are ever hopeful!
Hopeful and misguided. Apparently the solution to this particular computer freeze-up is to turn the whole system off, except that he can't even find the plug!
oh no! lol! now I see that there are sometimes advantages of being married to a computer geek!
morning everyone
Good morning, bex. How are you?
morning everyone I lost my broadband connection last night and couldn't finish!!!!!!
oh no!!! you poor thing!
Good morning, Ginger - that must have been annoying,to say the least. Maybe you'll have better luck today.
it was annoying ... you're right!!! I have reset the router so I hope all will be ok today!!
have you all finished the sudoku today?
yup!
im fine thanks haz. hows u?
That would be a resounding no from me, Ginger - I rarely manage to complete one as I just don't have the patience.
Bex, I'm fine thanks.
ginger im on sudoku now
it's not too bad bex.... can't be if I finished it LOL. I'm slowly going up the ranks but fallen off the bottom of one due to 4 days and no puzzling!
its a nice sudoku today
Good morning Early Birds!
morning Jera!
Good morning, Jera!
morning Jera
How is everyone this morning?
trying to fend the cat off - she's now trying to get packed in my suitcase after giving up wanting food
Awww. Are you going on a trip?
coming over to the US on thursday :)
Cool! Um, you have a US flag, I notice... where are you now?
oh lol I changed it yesterday in excited advance preparation LOL. I'm in the UK really
Howdy, I'm back from NYC and my husbands surgery went really well. ( Maybe it will be the last one for a long time) :)
So you're like moving? How exciting!
Hey, gramma! Great news!

Finally monkey typed those two words and it is now 3:30 am and I am falling into bed! Have a good one everyone!
Welcome, everyone, to yet another brain-buster!!!!! Speaking of which, as usual, those 7's are proving to be a little on the elusive side..... Assistance plz....

Welcome, everyone, to yet another brain-buster!!!!! Speaking of which, as usual, those 7's are proving to be a little on the elusive side..... Assistance plz....
bye all
Good morning everyone. Thought I'd better say that quickly before the site goes blooey on me again. Couldn't get on at all for half an hour. How's the puzzle?
alright so far :) and good morning to you and mr merrrrrrp!
hi atalante. Merp says hi too. He's still in his peaceful, lying at the foot of the bed, mode.
awww! I wish mine was ...
what's you cat's name and what's s/he up to?
she's called Silverclaw, or Sily for short, and she's running round like a mad thing, annoying me, annoying the dog and annoying my husband!!!
Do you have a picture? Sounds like a kitten.
Welcome, everyone, to yet another brain-buster!!!!! Speaking of which, as usual, those 7's are proving to be a little on the elusive side..... Assistance plz....
she has her own web site LOL! http://silver-claws.deviantart .com/gallery/
I hate e's! The should be seen and not heard!
I'll definitely check it out, but have to wait because if I leave now I'll probably never get back.
the site was like that with me yesterday ... but yes, check it out, very cute pics - and yes, she's only a kit - 8 months old
It will undoubtedly provoke rampant kitten lust in me. I've been wanting one for year, but Merp doesn't play nice with the other kids in the sandbox.
atlante - silverclaw is a natural born star. i love the pictures! morning.
katiecat u doje yet how many words u got laft ?
silverlcaw induces kitten lust in everyone who sees her - just a warning! she's exceedingly pretty and cute and takes wonderful photos!
4th time of asking...... Welcome, everyone, to yet another brain-buster!!!!! Speaking of which, as usual, those 7's are proving to be a little on the elusive side..... Assistance plz....
i love the one titled "my cat hates you" lol
Movieman - not ignoring you but only have the one as7 for which clues where given earlier.
I've got so many new photos to put up on there!
were given - not where given!
That's alright then, Haz..... I was beginning to wonder if my icon was just a tad scary for y'all.....
but I do have a beautiful new pic of my spaniel - http://www.atalante.f2s.com/ba ll.jpg - action shot chasing seagulls!
that is a great action shot atlante :)
st 7 = st 4/8 + that in which you cook it still hoping for help on the an 6/18's
I love that dog so much!
katiecat u there ?
an6/18 - an plus sa4/4 meaning to satisfy
or the first an6/18 - similar in meaning to the an5/10, beside or alongside
TY, Haz!
You're welcome.
why do my kids keep interfering with my babble time??? ;) :)
Because you haven't got them properly trained.
LOL you're right haz!
What ages are the children?
well... I have 6! oldest 2 are 23 and 21 and both independent, I home I have an 18 year old and then... 8, 6 and 5! 5 daughters and finally a son. Sorry you aked LOL?
we won't even mention my 2 grand daughters (my oldest daughters children!)!
Goodness, that's a real spread of ages. Do you find yourself raising the younger ones differently to the way you did with the older ones?
yes Haz, I do. I don't do it deliberately but you look back and realise you are doing.
I'm constantly amazed at how different children are now - they seem to be treated as mini-adults by a lot of parents and given a lot more say in decision making than I ever was.
woohoo! 100 to go:)
well, I am not quite the modern parent yet, I much prefer some of the older values. Mind you, my kids have special need.... that means the way they are brought up is a little different anyway.
hiya im bck but ive finshed babble lol
I admit that I was strict with my children, reflecting the way that I was brought up. Going around Tesco's when there are lots of young families around can be 'trying'. One young mother was asking permission of her four year old for everything that was going into the trolley. I felt like yelling 'Just put the food in the trolley and get on with it!'
hi Hannah
go bex go 101 left ant that bad lol
hiya ginger
how r u all today
sounds like we are a similar age Haz!
I'm nearly 48 so yes, we are!
wheee! for once I feel young!
Atalante-where are you going to be in the US? It is the heavenly realm in Vermont right now. Can't think of any place I'd rather be. Have to run out for a few minutes, which means I have to feed Merp first, because given his OCD nature, if I don't he will be bereft for the entire day. Of course once I sign out I may never be able to return given the gremlins. Think I'll look at silverkitty first though(-: Don't tell Merp I'm being unfaithful.
Thanks for that Atalante.....
lol Atlante!! I am just 43
I'm going to just south of San Francisco, then driving up to Astoria, Oregon via Yosemite, then back down again to SF to fly home!
sorry Haz!
Oh, it's okay, I forgive you!
bye all have a nice day
Bye hannah - same to yourself.
ok haz lol
Good morning - may I please use the chicken word twice?
Atalante-oh my god, she's beautiful and entirely beguiling! And the my cat hates you one is priceless. hey-the gremlins let me back in. Maybe the curse is lifted. brb
Good morning faeriekae - the chicken word?
told you! kitten lust ahoy! she really is a pretty little cat!
Well, you're going to be on the "wrong" coast-but we all get lost sometimes(-: It should be spsectacular there., I've never been to Yosemite.
yeah he 4/5 it is in here twice. I want to use it twice.
Go ahead, faerie, but you already know that you'll get nowhere!
{{{faerie}}}}} hello!!!!
all this chattering, I only have 20 words!!!
I love Yosemite - went there last year, but nearly the whole valley was underwater because there had just been huge floods! So this time, I'm hoping to see a bit more. But really, its a visiting friends trip rather than a sightseeing trip, so I'll probably just be hanging out rather than running round seeing things
Don't blame the chattering, Ginger, blame the children!
{{{Bex}}} good morning :)
Good Morning Ginger :)
oh yeah, of course Haz!
Morning Ata, and Eva :)
morning faerie!
en 5/10? Anyone?
en5/10 - means inherent qualities - add past tense of 'consumed food'
TY Haz Don't they always look so obvious--once someone gives a clue?
Haz, are you to the 'sw' yet? I can't find the last 5/20 after what I like to eat.
It's like quiz shows - once they give the answer, you realise you knew it. On some quiz shows more than others, admittedly.
sw5/20 is to grab, or use a computer card.
Huh?
brb dog walking time!
s plus wi4/9 -
Maybe I should say to use a card in a terminal - that sort of sw5/20
Good grief! Thanx, as always.
You're welcome!
I kept looking toward the "e". That is a bad habit of mine, forgetting to turn around and look the other direction, especially after so many times of going to the right.
I know, but with babble you have to look every which way!
Does anybody have ho7/32? I'm stumped!!!!! HELP!
very quite in here. eveyone must be <deep> in the grid.
it's a word often used in hymns - it has a female name at the end.
Jaianniah - sorry I don't have it. And so your Knuts Mom. Hi, don't think we have me yet :)
I am rolling along, but when I get stumped, I'm left totally adrift. Haz, is the vowel in SN 4/5 the first vowel?
sn4/5 - yes, use the first vowel to get a popular card game
Thank You Haz!!!!!
you're welcome!
That was a "sn--" Just me going in the wrong direction again. I kept trying to stay in the upper righthand corner instead of heading out into the world. Thanx.
Spread your wings, Merk!
Nice to meet you, too, Faerie!!! Yes, I'm Knuts Mom and lil Livs Grammie!!!!
Jaianniah-Your grandbaby is adorable. How do you keep from just eating her up. I'm sure you get your fair share of smoochies huh?
Haz, I'm trying. I'm new to this and have to work not to develop bad habits. I could also use a good dictionary. The SN that stymied me is a hoot because it's the easiest of the bunch, literally. The only one with which I'm familiar. The others are all Greek to me. I'd love to know what they mean. A few sound Welsh.
The sn4/8 and 5 - Scottish for white stuff that falls from the sky (not bird poo)
The sn6 - means to prune or lop (not sure of its origin). If you google some of the words you will get definitions.
Haz, I didn't get the sn clues- I must not be looking in the right direction....
Sorry - Merk had been asking about some of the meanings of the words - sn4/8 is a Scottish variation in spelling for what falls from the sky in winter, and the sn 5/18 is the plural.
sn6/21 - first three letters as before, then the definite article. sn7 is the plural, sn 5 removes the last vowel.
All I can think of to get 8 is snew but it doesn't work.....
Use a different vowel - the s you are using is the far right middle row - go down and you will find it.
thanks for the sn clues haz!:)
Or go diagonally down might be more accurate.
You're welcome, bex!
afternoon all
Hello sha.
hiya sha!
Good Morning from Virginia
I finally s*aw it!!! Thanks!!!!
Good morning!
That's great!
Morning Charm :)
Hello Sha :) didn't see you slip in.
1j2u3d4y - Good morning from Michigan. The gird today is actually not all that bad.
Hey, faeriekae - how are you?
I'm going to take a break - 12 words left to find, I'll see you later....
Was there a clue for the PE5/12 after the pe7?
Charm - I'm off to a good start today. How about yourself? I hope to mow my yard this afternoon if it warms up enough. It is still only 46 degrees out now. brrr
Later Haz :)
Charm I haven't been watching so I'm not sure. I'm not to the p's yet. Sorry :(
faeriekae - we're far above 46 down here in FL! I'm housebound with a baby who had surgery about a week ago - so babbling has been easy lately. =8-)
Charm - what type surgery :( poor baby....and you suck. I want warm weather...Now.
Any clue for the SA5/10?
Hey, Charm, I live in Katrina Land! It's 83.5 out right now!
Baby's foot had to have a pre-cancerous growth removed. "Baby" is almost 4 and nearly impossible to keep still - whenever I'm not looking, he sneaks off the bed/chair/sofa. When I hear an uneven limping, I know he's loose. It's been fun. BUt he's a good kid - no complaints or whining about this.
not here Charm...havent' made it past the n's yet LOL
sa5 = sounds like a romance language holy person
jaianniah - we're further east of you - Ivan-Dennis-Jeanne land! Not yet ventured outside, not even for the paper, but the a/c kicked in, so it must be warm. lol
Kateq - thanks! I kept trying 'santa' with no luck. heh heh
awwww Charm - poor baby :( sending lots of hugs and faerie kisses (((XOXOXOXO)))
1j2u3d4y - I want 80 degrees too. But I'm in Michigan. Why don't you just send unwanted heat this way :)
brb phone
thanks, faeriekae. As I said, he's so accustomed to doctors and hospitals and surgery (this is his 4th), that he just takes it all in stride. (we get more upset than he does about seeing the sutures and wounds and scars). I think he thinks this is 'normal' and everyone goes through it. Sometimes - sometimes - it's just as well he's too young to understand.
my furnace just kicked on. See how cold it is here. Charm - that is too bad for him. But he sounds like a really good kid and such a trooper.
It is better that he is so young and doesn't understand I agree. Hopefully he want remember any of it when he gets older.
ok I have on a sweat shirt, jeans and knee socks and I'm wraped in a blanket sitting here playing....this is so unfair.
I agree, faeriekae. by the way, I found that pe5 - the type of pasta. Now I'm off to walk the dog, feed and bathe the 'baby,' and maybe find a quiet moment to sneak off for a bath myself! Good luck with the grid. bbl
later Charm have fun :)
95wrds to go.....
Morning all. 91 degrees expected here today. 8(
where are you capone? 91 degrees here expected too.
{{Capone}} it's 46 here now - regular heat wave LOL

lol. you're funny. well it's hot where i am
Oooooh. For meee? Please tell me its a big giant needle! I <3 needles!
refresh.
which one do you want to start with :)
Northeast Florida, Lady. It hit 90 yesterday and was like 70 when I woke up about 5 am.
i see. florida is nice but too much rain. i'd much rather be in texas where it is hot too but we don't get these storms
I want warm/hot weather. I gotta mow my lawn with a coat on today. Not fair.
Lady - what part of Texas?
corpus christi
Yummy needles! And for the record Faerie, don't have the same effect unless I see them IN USE either in person or on tv/movie. 8) Speeeeeeak! M OUSE!!
Angelsong is in Austin...
WHERE *standing on my desk*
i've always loved this name. corpus christi. i'm a saint, that's why i live here. lol. hum. lol
refresh - I like my naked faerie better than needles. Yuck.
Everyone have a good Easter?
fabulous Easter. how about you capone?
Yeah it was ok Capone. Went to church and spent the afternoon babbling. No family here in Michigan.
Good Easter here. http://tinyurl.com/7d33 c a pic of TSM's "basket".
better not be a mouse Capone.
http://tinyurl.com/7d33c
DONE...anyone need a clue??
did you and Toes have a nice visit?
No, its not a mouse.
What a frustrating morning!!! Does anyone know of a website where I can see pictures of different styles of haircuts for little boys???
You are an asshole Capone :( Should have know it was mice.... *standing on desk again*
Yea. Was a very nice visit. Hopefully she'll get on later, I'm so gonna pick on her about the "bunny".
Hi Jera *sprinkle*sprinkle*sprinkle* don't anything about boys hair cuts. Why did yours give himself a haircut?
Jera, did you try searching Blingo or Google?
Capone - what bunny?
this might help jera - http://www.curly-sue.com/Hairs tyles/thumbnails.php?album=12
brb
LOL. A cute wittle fwuffy bunny I brought her w/a basket full of chocolate. A wewy cwute wittle bwunny.;)
No, he needs a haircut... very badly! But the most convenient place really needs a picture... hard to explain the style I want... I've searched up, down, high & low... I'll check out that website
Thanks Atalante!!! Exactly what i wanted... shoulda come here first, you guys know stuff!
thats me finished
Oh Capone you got her a bunny. A stuffed one I hope.
CONGRATULATIONS SHA!!!!

Don't let the door hit ya Faerie....
Thanks, guys--and congrats to you too. Have a great day!
does anyone has a clue for ho 7 ?
morning
ho7 - Used to express praise or adoration to God. (ends in a girls name).
Tks FMitch!
morning evan, hows you today?
I don't have the an6/18....
an+s4/4
hangin in there fmitch - you?
lol.. about the same :)
an6/18 (the first one) = an + first two letters of health drink you can be sure about + abbr of saint
Been surfing the log for an as 7/40, couldn't fins one. Would someone mind giving me a shove?
knutmeg, I assume the health drink is a US one as it rings no bells over here!!!
Ginger, if you have the first an 5/10, stick a squiggly in next to last for the first 6.
A clue previously given for as7/40 was to add the definite article, then an abbreviation for 'The Big Apple'
I'm back. What did I miss :)
Wow, great clue. Thanks HAz, got it right of the bat!
Thirteen minutes of dead air...
You're welcome, bunny - it had worked for me, as well!
{{{Good Morning All!!!}}}
Morning Stidmama :)
Good morning, stidmama!
good morning. grid difficult today?
Morning Stid. How was your Easter?
bbnaz - easy one today :)
There are old favourites there but lots of new words as well.

LOL Evan
Hi Haz Wondered if you were still here. :)
Yes, FMitch - I came back on a little while ago, got my remaining words and am now lurking.... How did your meal go yesterday?
Hello. I'm fairly new to Babble, but I just wanted to thank FMitch, knutmeg, and Kateq for their great hints!
Babble Rabble - you've chosen a great name!
Babble Rabble - Welcome to the clan :)
y/w babble rabble Haz, meal was scrummy. Been working today, had to do a 60 mile round trip to do some client training.
praes u lurking
So you're being made to work on Easter Monday? Still, I'm glad the meal went well.
Im self emp - so gotta take it where i can
Do you tend to have an expecially busy or slack time of year, or is it fairly steady?
FMitch - I'm self-employed also so I can relate. Holidays and weekends don't really exist ;)
LOL, I'll let you know, the co I worked for went bust recently so am "having a go" by myself. It's all a bit scarey right now!!
Well, I hope it goes well for you.
Hi mac :) and thanks Haz.
Hi FMitch - I know with my business, it's either feast or famine :/ Oh, good morning/afternoon all :)
Hi Macuser :)
Hi Faerie!! :)
Haz, I had the strangest thing. Two YI words were accepted. But one was given no points and there was only one listed as needed. It was a fluke where I was diddling around with words and one was accepted and I had never seen it before and got no points. So then I muddled in earnest and found the second YI. Have you ever had such a thing happen?
yes merk if you refresh only the real words will be in your list
merk - refresh your page
good afternoon everyone :)
Ah, I C. Thanks for the input.
Hello Jean :)
Then I am finished! Bells and Whistles! This is the earliest I have been done. What will I do all day? Get a manicure?
Congratulations, Merk!!
CONGRATULATIONS *~*~*~*MERK*~*~*~*
Hi Knut :)
Yay Merk! :)
Congratulations, Merk - you can stay and give clues!
afternoon all :)
Hi sherb :)
has anyone listed out the 7s yet?
Ginger- re: your comment at 9:15 (sorry I hopped in the shower since Liv was sleeping so nicely) The health drink I refered to might be a US thing only, not sure, to be truthful. For which, I am sorry. :-( Did the other clue given help?
*give any* help? Sorry, typing too fast for my own good. >.<
YAY Merk! (sorry, got called away to help get people ready for school)
Hi Faerie! Morning, Stidmama!!
hi mac :)
Unless someone needs help, ... for a change I am not asking for it ... I'll be signing off.
as7/40 et7/40 ho7/32 pe7/32 sa7/28 st7/48
bunny, wasn't ignoring you :-) We had a lovely weekend. Had to use up some ski tickets, so spent two nights in the mountains. The boys (all three) skiied, I stayed inside and read and napped... it was heavenly. You?
Haz, how many years have you been doing this? Or are you just gifted with and a lover of words?
Also sn7/32
thanks haz!
Merk - I've been doing this since August last year. I have a degree in languages (French and German) and yes, I love words!
Not near as fun as yours!! I'm emvious. We went to an over crowded house and got stuck outside in near hundred degree weather for three hours. The I cooked a huge meal and toted it all to my Grams with five over-tired sun burnt children. Think we'll go skiing next year :)
***Liv*** knutmeg -- did I read that you had a casserole for your dinner last night? No meal with your family? Or was that just your hubby who had to stay home to sleep?
It shows. And you also have a servant's heart ... so willing to help. Thanx. I've only been doing this a short time and I think you've helped me every day. I appreciate it.
Thanks, Merk - it's nice to be appreciated!
okay, diving back into the puzzle -- I just love Lickety's new stuff!
Well, I am leaving. Have a fun day everyone.
Anyone have the se 6/21 please?
bye Merk!
actually dinner with my family *was* a casserole. Not a very good one, either. However my Grandma made up for it with a *very* delicious fruit salad and strawberry shortcake for dessert! Num! My husband and I had a lunch of ham and the works, so I ended up getting my traditional Easter dinner anyway. Yay!
Bye Merk - have a good day.
Bye merk
Oh one last question? Who is Lickety and how does he/she get all this online so fast?
Bye Merk
se6/21 is what you might do if you were furious
se + second vowel + definate article
snape should be a word...
the professor?
se 6/21: I se**** with jealousy over anyone who gets entire nights of sleep. OR to have sight is to se* + definite article
Thank Haz - found it right away.
Haz, was that list words that you need?
Wow - you guys were all of that one. Wonder why I didn't see it in the first place now.
jbp - no, Atalante had asked for a list of the 7 letter words.
Merk: Lickety is MrPresident's husband, as to the rest, its a mystery to me. But isn't he awesome for it?
ty everyone :)
Lickety is a cool dude in Australia who has written a program that looks through the grid and returns the beginning two letters and letter count for each word possible in the grid. His page is linked to in the "Friends of Babble" box on the right of the page.
ah, gotcha. just checking.
Yes, I use his list to search. I'd never finish without it. I'm not as gifted in other languages as Haz and you definitely need to be with these. But you definitely get addicted to it. And the people are great. Bye again. ttyl
hi hurshy :) ...the prof... and a place in Suffolk... and I thought also a type of bird, but maybe not...
Hi Hurshy - didn't see you :)
second ye4,6?
hi faerie, hi everyone
((hurshy)) are you feeling better from that cold?
ye4/6 multiple japanese currency or to ye* for someone is to long for them, then pluralize
hiya hurshy
thanks knutmeg
you're welcome, cdn!
thanks Knutmeg, I haven't got it yet though LOL
hiya mac, hiya stidmama - i am better, just residual sniffling
Done, think I'm gonna head off to Sudoku for a bit.
ginger: an + second vowel + previous consonant + abbr. for saint
Hiya, kiddo? Got any clues? LOL
final ye5,14 anybody?
change the last vowel of the other y5/14
cdn: ye5/14 = same as previous 5/14 with the second vowel as the last letter instead of the first vowel
Congratulations BUNNY!!!
glad to hear that, hurshy. bye, bunny! Jaianniah -- are you the proud grandmama of our Liv?
The final ye5/14 has a different vowel ending to the previous one.
what do you need to know, mum? er... finished the puzzle as smidge early this morning...
thanx to all :-D
YAY Bunny! (sorry, missed the "done" part)
...I was thinking of snipe...
ty knutmeg
Congratulations Bunny!!! (I'm slow on this log... sorry, too)
snipes, snipes, long-legged snipes
LOL, TY. I'm slow today, still on first cup o' joe. See ya'll tomorrow.
you're welcome, Ginger :-)
Dog walk time, have a good day everyone.
Done! Gotta go... happy babbling everyone! Bye! :)
bye Haz, thanks for the help!
Yes, I am, Stid!!!! And she looks just LIke Me!!!! Poor thing!
YAY macuser!
Bye Mac, Bye Haz!!
bye Haz, bye mac :) :)
(grin) Jaianniah, I am sure she (and you) are beautiful in person -- these icons don't do faces justice!
we6,36?
Liv is looking like she's gonna have her grandma's strawberry blond hair, and her blue-grey eyes are a tribute to me mum, and she has our nose (a very dominant gene)
ooh noses -- I have my dad's nose (which is like his mother's) -- it's okay, but...
amusingly the nose gets cuter with each generation
we6/36 = rhymes with te6/24... in fact the same exact letters except for the first...
we6/36 means really little, a cute baby-talk sort of slang
oh! the we 6 spider went up the water spout!
thanks, got it :-)
I need help on the last ey 4: I have the two that are plural for "lookers"
hello
hey stidmama; the third ey is a variation of the non plural, just reverse last two letters
thanks tarajane... once again the permutation I forgot!
hello rseidemann
hello
sw 6/36? please
sw6 Todd
sw6/36= sw+ double second vowel + abbr for the big apple
the wy not meaning the letters
thanks boys, knut
Liv is fussing her hellos to all. :-)
LOL Knut and btw - great clue.
hello, dear sweet Liv! you know, watching my kids and their dad on the slopes this weekend brought back so many memories of when they were little... it went so quickly! they have changed so much!
the only difference netween the wy's is the 3rd letter... one is a vowel (2nd), one is a consonnt (14th letter)
bye everyone off to work :( might try and do some later
later, jean!
OMG Faerie!
Bye Jean have a nice day at work :)
Capone - just a little while ago a door hit me in the butt :)
yw, faerie :-) It's hard to believe 4 eeks ago today I was in labor, I can only imagine how much faster the rest goes!
((happy birthday knutmama!))
the th5's please... im having a very off day...
Faerie, guess what I just saw?! I was taking some trash from my office out to the back door and I saw a rat that had to be at least 2 feet long from nose to tail!!!!! Not kidding.
there are 3 th5's 1: plural th4/5 2: plural th4/9 3: add a sometimes vowel to 4/9
Thank you Stidmama! To celebrate we are going to pick Daddy up from work (and show off how cute we are to his coworkers) and then are going out to lunch together. Fun, fun!
Capone - No way....That's the size of my dog. LOL
That rat would eat your dog. It really would.
fun, indeed! Daddy will be so proud to show off the little princess :-)
capone - your office must be in a nice neighbourhood...
Well, folks, Liv and I must be off to see her Daddy. I will drop in later this evening to give more hints.
50 words to go, but only found 1 7 so far (sn7), could really use some help?
later knutmeg! have a fine time! :-) ***Liv***
Will do ((stidmama)) ((Grammy Jaianniah))
later knut :)
I'm the DTP guy for a printing company, and we have railroad tracks and a big ditch behind the warehouse which is flanked by the Winn Dixie (grocery chain) warehouse on the other side....so we have huge rats running around. Never saw one that big though. I think I'll name it FK for Faerie!
hmmm... better think of some more names... there's never just one rat... ;)
Capone - name it Joe.
Sherb-he is lying. there are no rats. rats only exist on tv.
just found the et7 2 down, any help with the other 5?
I don't believe in mice and rats. *they are not real, they are not real*
lshult, haz posted a list, it's prob only one page back in the log
no, I've met many rats in real life...
i've met plenty of 2-legged rats... but the others are only in cartoons!
yeah Sherb but those are the 2 legged kind. *grin*
Hy5 he's laughing
<------ not a rat. Been called a dog and a pig on a few occasions though. Never could figure out why.
I'm back from the barbershop! What a harrowing experience!!
Jera - did he get the right hair cut?
billmster! that's a pretty lake in your icon!
Jera -- didn't you mean hair-owing?
<--------Not afraid.
capone - the lesson is... get someone else to take out the trash...
He's absolutely gorgous... but it was a long, bloody battle (not literally, thank the gods)... He's in the tub now, washing off the layers of hair...
LOL Jera - at least it is finally done.
Stidmama that is Loch Maree in the north of Scotland
LOL @ stidmama
Now he's good for another 3 months when I begin to fear child services will intervene, LOL
I wondered if it was a Loch... do you live near there? the history of Loch Maree looks interesting -- plenty of Norse place names to go with the Celtic!
i have now got 43 words
Why is jetee not valid... does the ballet leap have 2 t's?
Sherb, someone is supposed to clean our offices, but they only do it when the get around to it.
good for you, rseidemann!
praes u lurking
no Jera, just two e's total...

Oops, sorry, was that too close to saying a word?? I'm sorry...
No but we are going up there on saturday.I studied the diatoms of the loch for my degreeyou can read about it at my Website www.diatom.free-online.co.uk
oh nooooo not diatoms!
ho****,6/27
rs - ho6/27 - plural of what bees make
Hi all, I hope everyone had a nice weekend :)

Hi Schro :)

Hi Sherb & Faerie, how have you been? Work has been sucking the life out of me.....but I'm babbling today!!!!
Schro - shouldn't Babble come first???
That's how I feel Faerie, some people here just don't seem to agree....
Schro... I've been well, thanks... taking a break from work for a few days, which helps... :)
Hi all have you all eaten loads os chocolate?

hi cait!! ...chocolate... Easter cake... and the rest...
Hi caitlyn!! I ate waaaaay to much of everything this weekend...

Yes Sherb, time off from work helps a lot. When the weather here warms up I'm going to take a few days myself.
What work do you do Schroeder?
My day job I work in Purchasing/HR and accounting...makes it hard to take time off.
Hi everyone, not playing today. The weather is lovely so we have been out, revisiting Woodstock in Oxfordshire, where I came from many moons ago. Showed my husband around my old haunts.
That sounds interesting but you must take a break at times to rest .Everyone needs a break .
Hi ExWren glad you have had a nice day.
woops, forgot to change my icon
Hi ExWren, so happy to hear someone has nice weather!!
hi everyone this is my first day playing. Any tips?

Capone you better behave or I will tell TSM.
my eyes are watering... :D
HI FMitch!
Hey schro!!! good to see you :)
schroeder -- thanks anyway -- maybe later --time for me to move on
Sherb - be careful - Capone is always bad and he can find something wrong with "eyes watering" he will.
Tell her, I don't care. In fact, I'll put her on when she gets done under the desk. lol WOW, its getting hot in hrrrrrrrrrr
Bye PRB!!!
I'll be back!

Capone - Just you wait until she logs on she will knock you into next month.
hi everyone.. i am stuck on the first an6/18...any clues please?
capone, you are bad....
Mo - an + 2nd vowel + upside down u + plural letter + cross letter
Hmmmm... my cyclops was watering earlier.
I don't even want to know what a cyclop is Capone.
cyclops = one eye = watery/crying/etc etc = innuendo
faerie....great clue, got it straight away thanks so much
cyclops - one eyed monster of myth
OMG - Clever Hurshy
cyclops? ...sounds odd to me...Cyclops was a member of a race of giants...
capone - really, with kids around, i think you could use a little less innuendo...?
Mo -yw
LOL Sherb!!!
Told you hurshy was clever!!!!
missed pbr -- oh well, back for more punishment :-)
haven't most people heard of cyclops? i never heard him used in that metaphorical manner before, but...
yes Hurshy. Sorry bout that ladies, when I see my opening I just have a knack for taking it sometimes. /slaps self Bad boy!
LOL Capone
lol :D
I am a NY Giants fan sherb, so actually I was talking about football, ignore the other comments. 8p
also an X-Men fan, didn't care much for Cyclops though. His brother Havoc however......
yeah, I knew that all along capone... ;) ...and anyway, faeriekae started all this with her wet willy...
he he, good save
who meeeee..*looks around the room puzzled*
that innocent look might work ... if it wasn't for your icon... ;)
LOLOL Sherb
But she is just a beautiful all natural Faerie?
Faerie is wet?
OMG, there I go again.... I'll lleave now. Didn't get anything here done anyway.
Capone - your I'm telling right now. Clever Hurshy is going to wash your mouth out in a minute.

"Capone - your I'm telling right now. " Wotsamatta Faerie? Get you so flustered you couldn' complete your train of thought?
thx FMitch
And I'm not leaving, yet. Working and lurking today. 14 words total, FTW!
Bye sherb
14 to finish Capone or 14 words entered???
17 words entered.
Haven't felt like playing much lately, Just throwing a few down to pad my points.
capone - it is actually much worse for your ranking to do part of a puzzle than not do it at all...
And you didn't answer me Faerie. 8(
but there are two kinds of rankings, yes? the side columns you lose points when you can't finish a grid, but the middle one you just add points every time you play.
Really? based on percentages for completions? I don't care about all that, just the points and the fact it breaks the bordeom.
Tink, I'm hungry!
true, stidmama
Hi Smaller....me too......Starving actually
Very good Capone... brb got company now.
Hiya Kids, happy day after....
chic! ((hug))
Hi Chic! The sugar low has set in. I'm hoping Tink caves into the shortcake faster than I cave into the cookies here. Go Tink, Go!
Hi Chic...same to you :)
Hi chic........I have some turkey left if anyone wants a sandwich !!
Pretty tree, caitlyn!!! Cherry blossoms?!
Oh yes caitlyn, I'll take one on wheat please.... All leftover chocolate goes to my friend smaller ...
Yes smaller a sign of spring (i hope)
Hi Stid ,smaller, schro and caitlyn, I'm a bit foggy today; feels like a sugar hangover....
oh -- that's pegasus, isn't it? my poor eyes have been staring at pixels too long! I thought it was a dove at first!
Chic, mmmmm turkey! Tink, pthhhhbbbbtt!
Afternoon all
I don't do turkey: all I like is the skin.....we had roast lamb..
Hi Yoink!
hullo Yoink!
Hehehehe.....sorry Smaller Hi Yoink!!
HI Yoink!!
Mmmmmm, lamb.
is that slinky?
Hi Yoink have you had a nice Easter?
I love roast lamb!!!
Have just enough leftover lamb to do a little curry with roasted veggies..
Capone, Dip it in chocolate for Tink. And let's focus, Capone. I mean the lamb.
Hi Smaller, Chic, Stidmama, Schro and Caitlyn! Smaller, no not slinky, just a spring, to celebrate... spring Caitlyn, good friday was a bad friday and I spent saturday recovering, but the rest of the weekend was ok thanks! How about you?
Dip what in chocolate? Lamb¿ Yuk. Give it to me raw and bleeding! The lamb that is.
an 6/18 (1st and 2nd) an 5/10(3rd) hints?
Capone - you're beginning to sound like Gollum.....LOL
Very quiet. But good thanks
i did a 9 pound herb crusted beef tenderloin. heaven.
I'd eat chocolate-coated lamb. yoink, from a distance, it almost looks like a band-aid too. mulit-functional icon
Nah MM. Don't like 'em wiggling.
an5/10 - Latin pl of previous 4
Now I'm hungry too.
i object to st 7/48! It's _not a compound word_ they are separate words!
an6/18 - insert a letter right before the last letter of the following an5
The 2nd no5/10 & the 6/18 plz......
And furthermore, stidmama, I don't cook st4 in a pa3. I make it in a po3!
Orange Beef with steamed rice, pork spring roll and seaflower wontons....mmmmmm
movie, like no, no, na***** but shorter and with no! :)
2nd an6/18 - add sa4/4 meaning satisfy
that's a lot of beef, Sparky, sounds good! good one , capone!
Hursh - I no understand!!!! Elaborate plz.....
All this food sounds much better than my oatmeal....
thx all. i never would have guessed those.
movieman glad to see you looking so well!!LOL
no5/10 - "But I can't cathc that butterfly, because I have no---!"
actually, after all the food this weekend, oatmeal sounds really soothing!
(I mean "catch" of course)
spicy tuna roll, ginger salad........
Thanx Vicuna & Hursh, but you could just have said "a group of nine musicians".....
pad thai...
Stid, I'm trying to tell myself that....just not working this morning
... and what you gonna have for your main course capone ???
oatmeal, my newest favorite midnight snack... you can make it with one hand (microwaved), you can eat it with one hand and not worry about drips (I like mine thick) and its not bad for you. All important during those 2am feedings...
And hello again, everyone!
Hi knut :)
I'm back to help with clues again... finishing the puzzle at 2am really leaves me with nothing to do during the day. ;-)
Chocolate Bunny for main, all that was just a dessert.
Hi knut!!
Hi everyone! Had class this morning and another later this afternoon. Do you supposed I can finisih the grid in about an hour? ha ha
Hi Deutsch!!!!
hey deutsch-- caffeinated monkeytyping had me finish it in under 2 hours this morning...
Hi knutmeg ........and bye everyone..all this talk of food reminds me i must prepare supper (bye clever hurshy) bye all.catch you tomorrow happy babbling.lol
Bye Caitlyn, have a nice evening
bye caitlyn! Hi Schroeder and Knut!
bye caitlyn!
bye, caitlyn, enjoy your dinner!
Hello again, fellow Babblers...
/sigh all this food talk and "Hunger Strike" by Temple of the Dog comes on the radio......
Hi Jera!
bye caitlyn, hi knutmeg -- thought you were going to lunch! hi again Jera
hi deutsch!
Hi stidmama!!
Liv wasn't in the mood, so we're eating at home, poor kid.
{{Deutsch}} greetings, my monochromatic friend!
stidmama, I'm like a bad penny today...
Hi Jera!
*waves madly at schroeder*
{{Jera}} I like the monochromatic name. It's better than color challenged one!
point total today, please?
Hushry, I'm guessing the point total is a tad more than 102, which is what I have! LOL
I got that line from Madagascar, that's what the psychotic penguin calls the zebra. Not that I've seen it 87 times since it's my son't favorite movie or anything...
Im with you Deutsch....only 775 points here. I think I'm out of babble practice...lolol
Jera, is your icon still a crwth?
hurshy 173 words, 4.66, 2048 points
Jera, LOL I'll have to see the movie since it's so highly rated!
Yes, stidmama!! I cropped it a bit to showcase the instrument more, rather than people wondering who's the guy in my icon...
Relatively short words today, if the average is less than 5... interesting!
:-) stidmatt is still unhappy with that word! but I think it's a cool instrument...
It's pretty good for a silly little kids' movie, Deutsch.
bbl, have to do domestic things like clean up from yesterday's dinner....
fun of Madagascar is seeing all the adult movies spoofed
I like silly kid movies!
later, chic -- remember, Babble is a good way to pass time while the cooked-on stuff soaks! :-)
bye chic!
Bye Chic!!
thank you fmitch! :) :)
yr welcome hurshy :)
hello, it has been forever since i have been here, things have changed alot.
Hi onyx!
Hi onyx, welcome back!!!
short puzzle, won't , can't spend foreverdoing it
thanks scrhoeder, dubious, i was getting a bit obssesive about this game
hey guess what MOVIE my son just wanted me to put in for him??? He calls it "The Movie Movie" Insstead of the song, "I like to Move It, Move it" he sings, "I wike da movie-movie... I wike da movie-movie... I wike da... MOVIE!!"
He sounds adorable, Jera. How old is he?
pthomp... I agree with you! (catching up on what I missed)
4 1/2 Deutsch... such a character... nice to see he still has eyebrows & ears...
I am NOT obsessive... I am NOT obsessive... I am NOT obsessive... I am NOT obsessive... I am NOT obsessive...
Dang! I have to go again. see you all when I get from the police academy.
i am not obsessive, merely avoiding the un-pleasant tasks that face me in my daily life. When the weather is good enough to garden, i'll be outside!
bye deutsch
Good morning, happy Easter Monday all. Could I get clues for 2 of the et 6/21's -- I have the one that means "people of the same race or nationality that share a similar culture" -
Hey, it's my favorite to word today!! Silly little word...
ch1212 -- great icon! fractal?
indeed it is, stidmama -- Love fractals.
Bye, Deutsch! stidmama... I wasn't making fun of you, just quoting a favorite t-shirt of mine... I AM a rather obssessive personality...
:-) I love them for the way they combine art/organic (me) with math/science (my husband). It's a great metaphor for our partnership. And they're pretty...
Bye Deutsch! Hi Ch1212!
wow, that is a great metaphor for a relationship like yours -- you are definitely a creative soul to see that.
Hi Schroeder! Still waiting for those et 6 clues, anyone :)
I know Jera :-) -- but since playing on the computer is the way I deal with the chronic anxiety and panic attacks... I take every opportunity to justify it! *whine* today is actually worse than normal, and I must go out later to take a kid to the doc... :-(
Sorry ch1212 can't help, I'm moving really slow today in the grid....out of practice
No problem... I'm available for clues, except of course those ets...
et6/21 - add a chicken and then a final vowel et6/27 - same but with higher point value middle vowel
Thank you Vicuna! Got them -- thank you thank you!
thanks vicuna! hi ch1212!!
vicuna -- I just got to the et's (working backward on the list). what great timing! :-)
Thanks Vicuna!!
Whew
I'm finished at last and I'm definitely getting worse at this game. Good to see our volcanoes back in force!
SPELLIT CONGRATULATIONS !!!
YAY spellit!
hi smaller! YEAAAHH Spellit! Congrats!
Cheers and that gave you two et's as well
hi all...may i pls have a clue for the ho7?
Congrats Spellit!!!!!
You're all welcome.
You shout ho7 when waving palms!
ho 7: what the angels sing in heaven at Easter!
Cathyar, if you attended Easter services, you probably sang Ho**** to the Highest!
As in ho7 to the king of kings!
ho 7 = common praise around Easter... ho + consonant + girl's name
ho7 - a shout of jouful praise, (ending with woman's name)
A clue for the as7, plz?
I guess we have ho7 covered...
So, Cathyar, is that enough clues?
AS 7 as previously clued ie as + indef art + the big apple
Ok, I'm done.
LOL...that was great!!! thanks everyone!!! :)
but alas...still have 5 more 7's to find.
DONE done? or just throwing in the towel?
Hooray for fairiekae!
BGL as7 = as+nowand+the sometimes vowel

Hi everyone!!!! EEgads!!! NO R's!!!! That means no RE'S..... cool!
(((MAMABEAR)))
Thanks, Mary. BGL- Because the words won't pop out unless you ask for a clue. ^..^

HI Mamabear!!
hey faerie.... brb gotta grab my lunch from the stove... hows today's puzzle?
These "we"s are driving me crazy!
any particular one, BGL?
Hi ya Mamabear - That exactly right NO Re's Yeah
No, no particular one, I'm not seeing most of them. Maybe it's time for a break.
Hi faeriekae!!! How's things with Casper? Gone?
the key to the we's is not the double u's but the double second vowel...
I wish there had been something like Babble around when I had my babies -heck, I wish there were computers around when I had my babies!!!!!
i've only found about 20 without the list.. is today's hard? i haven't been on much the past few days so i'm out of practice already!
Correction - there were computers... wish there was INTERNET!!!! Geez, I'm not THAT old!!!
Hi everyone. What have i missed out on?
I need one more, and I know that this is going to deserve a fish, but here goes - sa 5/10, after the one that I am definitely not any more. thanks
I have to say, I do not know how I would have done if I was pregnant before the internet was around. I have been off work since January 1st because my pregnancy caused a very bad back, and without the internet, I would have been stir-crazy. Of course, if I were pregnant before the internet were around, I would have made the Guiness Book of World Records as the youngest mother ever... (Seeing as I was very very small back then.
joey, rhymes with the Lone Rangers side kick
sa 5/10= same first three letters as the one you claim to not be anymore plus the number after 1 without the w
Joey...the provider of a Mexican miracle, for example
thanks very much to everyone........ I am finished.
Congratulations, Joey!!

thanks, stidmama
first an6/18?
hey stidmama .... i think i'm going to give in and use the list, only made it to 40 without it, blah congrats joey! :)
hi talk! I got a good number before I resorted to the list a couple hours ago... between chatting, and the stuff I keep popping away to do, i am down to two left... trying to puzzle them out on my own, but...
an + second vowel + previous consonant + abbr. for saint
Off for a little walk.....try and work of all the food from this weekend...

Congrats Stid! Way to go! :)
bye Schroeder! I will be back and forth for a while... :-) the chat's as fun as the puzzle.
Way to go Stidmama!!
Hi all! How's todays puzzle?
Thanks knutmeg! I really should go clean the bathrooms, but I'd much rather keep playing! Only 13 words to go! :) The bathrooms will wait! :)
hi Dippnall! well, i finished already, so it can't be too bad!
I have ten more words, then bathroom needs attention as well... also must finish laundry...
I really should do laundry or take a nap. But this is much more fun. Plus I'm putting some CDs into my iTunes Library. The sad part... I finished the puzzle over 12 hours ago and still I hang out. :-)
Oh, I should do laundry too - or go for a walk, but I am quite content being right here on the computer.
oh, wish you hadn't mentioned the bathroom -- I'd better take care of it now :-( why do boys make such a mess? clothes, towels, toys, everything -- everywhere!
I should do laundry too, but I'm at work so it'll just have to wait.
I agree... my husband sheds worse than the cats! ANd we have college student that lives with us and he is equally as bad... I hate to think how badly they'd miss the hole if they DIDN'T put the seat up!
I need the 2nd an6/18... any hints please?
knutmeg, I was like that over the weekend... hence my dirty bathroom & backlog of laundry...
an+ 2nd sa4/4
an +s4/4 OR An + past tense of sit + second vowel
an + feeling full/satisfied
A plethora of clues, LOL
well they all worked so ty all :-)
I am stumped on the third of the 3 je's; I have the plural airplanes and the ballet jump. Help, please?

Joey, you are a real son of David and you take the palm.
I have the songs, the hammers & the feather... I need the 4th one... not getting the pasta clue...
hey joey!!! I'm on #8 on the Stephanie Plum series!!!!
Jeta, it's pasta named for its shape (a writing instrument)
The bird feather starts like a writing instrument...
Can you give me more to see if it's what I'm looking for... if my description isn't working for you?
hey i'll catch up with u guys all later.. only on 66... need to get my butt up or i'll never get anything done today. ttyl guys :)
Can anyone help me with the as7, please?
O.K., Jera, try using the second vowel twice (either side of a double consonant)
A clue from earlier - as+indef. article+the Big Apple
if only babble allowed proper nouns!!
tyvm, hetty! Only one vowel different from the one I was confusing your clue with!
Sorry, BGL, I've been working on the puzzle not keeping up with chat. If you don't feel like repeating clues someone else usually doesn't mind...

Well, I'm done but I don't feel much like dancing... does anyone else need some help??
*hop*hop*hop* Hi kids!!

Thanks! First time I've played.
bonniejs...this site comes with a health warning...addiction will result!

Any clues floating around for en5/10 or the last ye5/14?
Last ye5/14 is only one vowel different from other ye5/14
sw6/36 anyone? I have all the other sw's

His last name is Todd
BGL - en5/10 - means inherent qualities - add past tense of 'consumed food'

There is no ye5/12, lynxxx

You're welcome, and Congratulations cindasu!!!
hi stid!!
Huzzah for cindasu!!
hi EasternBlue! how was your weekend?
hi NowherePixie
stid - too fast...I was busy grocery shopping on Sat. & then cooking Sun!! But good... I have leftover carrot cake if anyone wants a slice!!
yes please, me, me!
*cuts a big slice for stid* enjoy!!
gotta switch out laundry again! BRB
mmmm... carrot cake sounds nummy, trade you for some Edy's Tollhouse Cookie Dough ice cream? (With the ribbons of cookie dough as well as the chuncks of cookie dough)
*cuts a big slice for knutmeg* Thanks for the offer of icecream, but I ate too much yesterday!! : )
Mmm carrot cake... I'll take a slice... cream cheese frosting??
*cuts Jera a big slice of carrot cake* homemade cream cheese frosting...it's even decorated with little orange carrots & the green 'tops'... : )
praes, you still here? is that Annie Dukes on your icon?
Ohhhh, this is so good, EB, thank you!!
Hi everyone! Great! Everyone is eating cake, and I have a ham sandwich!
glad you like it!
*cuts Deutsch a big slice of carrot cake*
I'm back from being domestic; however was side tracked so not finished But I have my priorites right...Babble first...
*looks quizzically at chic* what's 'domestic'?? LOL!!
Thanks EB! *sets aside sandwich, takes bite of cake. forgets sandwich.* MMMMMMM
I came back from a 2 mile walk and everyone is talking food again *sigh* Now I'm hungry again.....
EB, lol, it's that 'pretend that you're doing your part' thing..
*cuts slice of carrot cake for Schroe* no calories in this one!! : )
good for you, schroeder!
chic - I'll be 'domestic' later...I have to do laundry later...blech!!
Thank you EasternBlue (((hugs)))
I figure if I get most of the housework done today, then I'm free for the rest of the week!
chic - a very wise plan...I'm heading to VA to visit my sister on Wed. so I have to have clothes ready to pack tomorrow!!
I like the thought behind housework, but my procrastinating tendancies have exponentially evolved with the ready excuse of lack of sleep and new baby.
knut - you have a valid excuse with the baby...
Thanks for the cake, EB, it was delicious! I need to go out for a little while, any spare "courage" energy from folks would be appreciated...
and I'm taking as much advantage of it as I can. :-)
*sending positive courage vibes to stid*
Stid *sends courage energy*
knut -- when I was a child, the house was spotless most of the time. I don't know how my mother did it. But I do know this: your daughter benefits much more from being held and rocked, and from having a mama who is better rested, than she could possibly benefit from cleaner floors or shinier windows. :-)
Bye stidmama *Brave as a lion*
All excuses are valid pertaining to delaying housework. It's never done and you have to do it again anyway....
thanks for the good thoughts, folks! off to fight my dragons!
*finishes carrot cake, rinses off plate & puts in the Babble dishwasher* Well, I'd best be off & do a thing or two around the house before I have to go get the Sprite from Math Club. Later, all! *poof*
*gives stid fire extinguisher too to put out the dragon's fire*
bye Jera!!
bye jera!
Bye Jera!!
*belatedly procures a sword of dragon-slaying for Stidmama* *sends it to her via transporter technology stolen off the Enterprise*
And speaking of being well-rested, I need to attend to my child, and then take a nap myself, so I take my leave until later. Be back laterz!!
bye knutmeg!
bye knut!! kisses to the baby for us!! : )
Bye Knut :)

Indeed it was! We have the Molbert today, so he is no longer on, but yup... that was him!
That's hilarious. I scrolled down to see if there were any good clues I'd missed and saw SueQ and Jimmythefish. Couldn't have been a coincidence. How are you doing on the puzzle?
Not great, started a little awhile ago, i have 87 now, but with the Bert here, it's iffy
ok, does anyone have any clues for any of the et words? I have the 4 letter ones and the last 5/10, but I'm not convinced the other ones exist.
wassup, double and triple bonded bi-carbons or et+chick+vowel e t+same as above but high letter value in the middle-ish
boreetos, listing to 'under the weather' right now. it's not bad.
but 'big black horse and a cherry tree' is heads and tails better.
thanks smaller. i was going in circles around all of that!
yeah, it has been getting a lot of radio play here, I like Suddenly I see quite a bit, more so than Cherry Tree. I haven't heard anything else off of it yet. Heard of Marc Broussard? Similar sound, been around a few years. Kickass live.
taking a break. See you all later
Bye Deutsch!
listening to other side of the world now, and have mark broussard notated for future research

ty mab
Chrome - go to Angelsongs or Lickety's page, links at right.
got it thanks guys :)
did everyone have to go back to work today or is it a holiday for you, I went back, ouch, always a hard monday after a 3 dat weekend
It's not a holiday for anyone that i know of in the states
Here in Mass it is Patriots' Day - all offices closed and no federal services, such as mail.
in canada if you work for the government or a bank its a holiday, i know a bunch of people where i work took the extra day, was kinda wishing i did that at 6 am this morning
i'm missing both an 6/18s. Anyone?
an + curvy consonent + what you do when you sit down to dinner, past tense

Well I didn't wassup, clue please for the other an 6/18?

Holy smokes, good one wassup!
Thanks guys for both an6/18s - the an's are a bit oblique today.
thanks mab, what does it mean, never heard of it
I'm having a really hard time with these last 20 words. I've gotten like 3 in 15 minutes. At this rate, I might not finish by 10!

Sa 5 Spanish word for holy person, or ** Louis, **Peterwburg,
Gwenski, didn't even know that's what that meant, but somehow got the word! Thanks!
scatty, the spanish vresion of that word ends in the round letter
There are many words in these grids that I still don't know what they mean! Sometimes I'll look them up, other times I just type them and go on!
Hel> When I keyboard in "an" + curvy consonant + either first and second vowels or what I do when I sit at table (past tense) I'm told my word isn't valid. What am I doing wrong?
Sa 5; Drop the i in the english word and end in 4th vowel
brain dead, don't get the clues, sorry, any easier clue for clothears please
Scatty: for the sa5, think of Mr. Claus, but change the last vowel in his first name.
if I hit the space bar before or after the correct word, the computer claims it is invalid.
Another one need a clue before I go?
gwen, now they are the kind of clues i like at this time of night, thanks - nearly one in the morning, i think my brain went to bed a couple of hours ago
pe 5/20 and 6/33?
pe 5 and 6 - little ones, begin with church seat, tack on a double vowel.
pe5: Think of a very small person. Or the old TV personality Pe**** Herman (or was it Pe****'s Playhouse?) In any case, don't double the first vowel.
Mab, thanks!
thanks to you too gwen

it's a headslapper... I'm on** you...
I don't expect her to say "hi" to Grammie when she is doing such impotant work!!!!
start with the lower o and go up
1: pe + opposite of beginning minus d + curvy consonate 2: pasta with first vowel ending instead of 2nd 3: pasta
the other two pe 5 are pasta -- one is pasta, the other has a different vowel at the end.

I need to repay everyone's amazing clues. Anyone need any?
Congratulations, Uneaixoise!!!!
congrats une!
silly question from a newbie... How do I know when I'm done?
flip to stats
I get it...I have to be a 'pro' user... Thanks
Cicimelia, welcome! You might want to click on Angelsong's Babble Page, link at the right - it has, I think, everything you need to know.
stats don't work unless you're pro. Today's grid has 173 words, you are done when you reach that, also you can keep track by using Lickety's Babble Page, the link is to the right with the Friends of Babble
and believe me, you don't *need* pro to play, but the icons are fun, the one time fee helps Dr. God (all bow to the wonderful supplier of our addiction), and the stats are useful. But Lickety's page will work nicely, too.
Hi all, clues please for the pe7/32 and sa7/28
nevermind, found the sa7- plural of a type of fabric
sa7 = plural sa6
pe 7/32- pe+ double one hump cons + past tense of eat

scribble if you have the second word add a letter(looks like a snake)before the last leter
knut, do you type for work, you are ever so fast
thx scatty got it. any help with the ET 6 and 7s please?
No, not anymore, I learned a bit in school, and use the computer at home so much, I've improved even though I no longer type at work. Although, I'm faster when I'm not breastfeeding, this one handed typing thing is a mite bit slower
i am having we 4/8 issues. i have the harmless cyst and the one meaning to go. what it the 3rd we in that group?
et6: et+ female rooster + second vowel et6: same first three letters as above plus cartilage appendage in the middle of yoru face minus the last vowel. et6: same first three letters as above + sometimes vowel + single hump consonate + second vowel et7: plural last et6
would it be : we + letter after m + plural ?
nope, got that one scribble
we4: plural moisture
There is a we4 that has to do wit over****ing pride. Notthat you have it. dear knitter
ty knutmeg, a smack with the fish of obviousness please
thank you so much knutmeg!!!
You are both welcome
scribble - i ope this doesn't confuse you et7 = et + songs you sing in a church(changing the third to last letter )to a( bo++et) you wear on your head at easter
leer after the m, alot easier to discribe
thx scatty that wasnt confusing at all. you do good with clues.
Good evening everyone. Can anyone spare a clue for the first an 6/18?
check my clue at 7:46 pm for the first an6/18
scribble, i try to make them as easy a poss as i have trouble with alot of the clues given
an + 2nd vowel + letter after m + curvy letter + cross letter
Eva, you begin with "**no domini" and follow it with an anagram of "sent". You can monkey it I'm sure.
thanks guys!
scribble , i wandered what the curvy letter was, i call it the snake letter
Okay, my lovely daughter the goat (named so because she tries to eat everything) is demanding more of my attention, I'll be back for the flip everyone, see you then!!
does anyone know whether jeffer has been around today
scatty-- snake letter is easier to remember. ill put that next time. does anyone have the last ey 4/6?

change the last letter of the one before it
masculine pronoun, subject, singular : not I or you,
finish the thought: not she, but...
thx stid i got it!
some very weird words tongiht
yeah really weird. like whats up with the YW word?
remember that one it is in here lots
we get that yw word, and its yi equivalent fairly regularly... just an old fashioned (medieval, even) word meaning "sure thing."
pay no attention the letters these fingers type... I meant the yw word and the iw equivalent..
im pretty new at this, so ive never seen it before.
scibble do you get the ? mark in front of your word in your list?
if you click on the ? you get a dictionary defn.
that's okay -- weird is the name of this game! oh -- wait -- this game is Babble...
yes
i know but where do people come up with these spellings?
they all come from the dictionary believe it or not
down to my last word need the ne 4/5 second on the list pls and ty
i should make up a word with an extremely weird spelling...
if you click on the ? mark you will get the defintion of the words
that's easy to answer -- spellings are only just being standardized -- and still change periodically. And of course, the words we use change over time. When these words were used, people just sounded them out and used the letters they thought worked.
just got my last word, finis, complete, done over you have no more words to find, yee haw
ne 4/5: there are two, sound just alike. ne + primate group including gorillas, chimps and orangs - e
YAY Sheryl! that maple leaf flag is waving in your honor!
well guys i gotta go. see you tomorrow and good luck. ^*^*^*^*FIREWORKS^*^*^* ^* for anyone who finishes or finished this grid. Bye!!!

good night scribble!
nite scribble
does anyone want or need a clue before I go
*grin* I was always a good speller, but my brother wasn't. some people just aren't wired to combine the phonics with the hundreds of common words that aren't spelled phonetically!
1st st 5/10 please
weird way of spelling what happens when you spill red wine on a white table cloth, not that I have any expereice with that, lol
st 5/10: scottish word for "rock"
its funny because my daughter never had the problem with spelling now math was a different ball of wax and yet my son does well in math and grasps the concepts right away
found that st with the wine spill clue .... what so i know about win, HMMM
st7?
yes, it all depends on what parts of the brain connect most efficiently -- and there is some to do with exercising them, but mostly it's how you're wired.
do you like my new icon, its bailey my big baby
jee its a combo word - your st 4/8 and your p 4/5
st 7 is what you would cook your st 4/8 in
st 7: in my opinion, doesn't exist. st 4, souplike word + word for what you cook eggs in.
most be wired for letters for me for sure, numbers drive me crazy that is why i never do the suduko
hi scatty -- I had turned icons off so more of the conversation was showing... pig baby?
thanks stidmama, guess I have one of those but I don't call it that.
i can hardly make it out scatty, what is it
Sherylr1961, I need help with the last a word, as7/40. Thanks. Genev

as 7: as + word meaning a specific point in time + sometimes vowel
pe7?
never mind, the monkey found it...thanks anyway.
pe 7: pasta - last vowel + what you did to it (past tense of consume)
Or, rump, you could try an anagram for the capital of Greece followed by the sometime vowel
pe 7 -- like the pasta after you ate it! pasta + past tense of eat
last sn 4/6?
aknitter - use the sn at the left of your grid + second to last letter+ 2nd vowel
These words are from the Bizarro World.

jeewhiz - i swear they make half of them up
i monkey typed it, it was the only way
Scatty, only half?
Hi Scatty, are you in England? I got my Scottish Deerhound from Derbyshire. Geneva

the last sn5/12 & 4/6 anyone?
i'm in oxford, well near, my dogs are boxer cross staf + a collie cross, we think with a wired hair terrier
sn 4/6 was given at 8:47
eva, i gave a clue for the sn4 at 8-47
sn 5/12: s + ne 4
scatty, you still haven't explained pig baby -- for those of us with limited mental resources this time of day...
the sn 5,6 and 7 are all the same word with progressive endings sn --- e, es they all sound like harry potter characters
sn5 is the same as the 2nd ne4
rumple - in your profile - the drop down box has a list of countries. this will list your flag
clue on AS 7,40 please
{{{renfield}}} thought about you all weekend -- are you feeling better?
rearrange the letters of a big Greek city and add the sometimes vowel..this clue helped me

ty both, the loo clue thru me for a minute until the herman guy came along LOL
i try to make it as simple as poss, the trouble is i confuse myself sometimes
Evanonut, thanks, it's a Scottish Highland. We raise them. Geneva
when i try to say there is an s on the end of a word, its a snake, the curly letters are eeee's, t is the letter that has to be crossed, ed past
thanks, scatty -- I've noticed a lot of us use shorthand for clues -- like, "beverage letter" for t. I've also read "curvy" for s. It's fun figuring out the clues :)
i wonder if a X would be a pirate's letter?
good one, renfield!
not a bad clue ren
thanks ch1212!! i love our short hand notes!
ho5/12 pretty please?
what about an upside down p
thanks scatty!
these et words are killing me
ho 5/12 - add first vowel to one above
sueq - add the first vowel to the word
et 6/21 - et + chicken + 2nd vowel et 6/27 - change middle vowel of above to sometimes vowel
good scatty that would be a b - right?
wrong, a D(d)
thanks ch1212
if you slide top of p to the bottom it would make a
a (u) is an upside down (n)
an (m) is an upside down (w)
scatty and ch1212 thank you, (head bowed)
Its 3-35am, i supose i'd better go to bed before my hubby shouts at me for being on the computer all night, anyone want any clues before i go to the land of nod
I'm just returning the favors, SueQ -- I always try to clue others if I can, because there's no way I could finish a grid without everyone's help :)
or a (n) is a dromedary
sleep well scatty...and think of some more short hands! these are fun!!!!
sueQ, if you cant find a word and an s wont work start to add vowels, ae are on the end of quite a few words as well
g'nite scatty - peaceful dreams
Hello. as7?
ren, that words way too long for me to remember it(dromedary)
as + th 4/5 + sometimes vowel
me 2 scatty!
nighty night everyone, good luck with the grid, if i don't go now, i will sit here until the flip, and its not doing my back any good sitting in one spot all night, bye all
Hello Harpjane, do you play? I do. Geneva
et6/21 (the first one) clues anyone?
geneva, yes, where do you live? I have four harps. i can quit any time....
the middle an5/10? It's making me crazy! Clues might help!
harpjane, it's a plural of the woman's name (I know, here's the fish -- I did the same thing!)
o brother! thanks!
Sue Q, the first et 6/21 is e + th4/5 (the one about time) + second vowel.
sorry my mistake, 2nd et6/21...
HarpJane, I live south of Topeka,Ks. Only have a gold L&H. It's on my web at www.starshirefarm.com Where are you? Geneva
aah, I wondered :) okay, second et6/21 -- think about different races and cultures, with et + con. + first three letters of what's plain as the ___ on your face
my butt's asleep, dam this game...
geneva, i'm in hamilton montana. little town.
I know my clues are pretty obvious... I need to work on being more obtuse.
ch1212 bless you
geneva, harpjane, sorry to interrupt... I've been through Hamilton, MT -- it's spectacularly beautiful! Okay, go back to your conversation :)
HarpJane, small world.Hubby used to live in Anaconda and Opportunity, MT. Our Highland cattle convention will be in Sheridan WY in June.
yes, i think we've talked about it ch1212, aren't you from ID?
indeed I am -- South Central Idaho at the moment, though my beloved and I are going to be moving to Washington State sometime soon.
any more clues for second et6/21?
Ch1212. That's OK. the more the merrier. We might ride our Harleys to Wyoming. They are on the website too. GA
and you're a late-in-life Catholic, like me, right?
well, kind of. Cradle Catholic who rediscovered my faith later in life. Now married to a wonderful man who was a monk for 20 years.
I'm stuck on my last word...the first word of the puzzle, the an 6
et 6/21 add a lisp and the opposite of yes plural
pinecone, that's a strange word ... let's see... an + 2nd vowel + 3 consonents in a row -- does that help?
harpjane, we're also both Benedictines -- I'm an Oblate, part of a lay order.
thank you ch1212! I got it.
Yes, I remember, because we talked about the monastery at Cottonwood..... I just made it through my first-ever Easter Vigil as a musician. Everybody lived!
en5/10? I'm sure everyone but me has it!
Congratulations!! One of our brothers at the monastery plays the harp -- he's part of a ministry that goes out to hospitals and homes and plays for the sick and dying. Your instrument is a true gift!
i still cannot get the an 6, grr :(
en 5/10 -- it's that en*** ability you have with music... (or maybe it's usually spelled with an i) okay, en + paste tense of eat
an6/18 is Scottish, meaning "over, against" if that helps you google it.
an6, do you have the an5 that comes after? Add a consonant before the last letter.
an + think of the BAD GUY, drop his n
an 6/18 add the second vowel and then 3 consonants (the consonants are in alphabetical order)
well, it's lovely chatting but my beloved just walked in the door home from a volunteer task. See all tomorrow! Happy babbling. Good night!
ahh i finally got it, thanks to all of your clues. thank you so much

Okay, Woot! Baby is in bed after downing a decent amount of formula, with luck, this will last a very long time. Or at least long enough for me to see the flip and make a decent start on it. :-)
ty harp - no 4/5 - a person place or thing is a no**
hey all -- back again after playing with dogs and kids. knut, just read about the feeding/nap -- keeping fingers crossed. :-)
circe, ty! That was my last one, with the plural. I knew it had to contain those four letters. Sometimes you can't make it fit no matter what....
YAY harpjane!
I know harpjane.. congrats on finishing!
Congratulations, Harpjane!!

we 4/9, like crying...

Great stidmama (why didn't I think of adding an s?!! Just one more to go.
go mah, go!
Angelsong - thanks for clue but I still don't get it. Tried all combinations and nothing works. Guess I'll just have to give up. My eyes are compalining. Maybe tomorow.
Okay, admittedly I'm not used to Liv sleeping in her own room, but the upstairs neighbors are making enough racket that I can't figure out what noises are which on the monitors. sigh...
whew..finished~!
YAY circe!
mah what are you stuck on
MAH, double the second vowel for your we 4/5
Is knoskers of Zib here?
ty - it has been a while since I actually finished one! :)
mah -- you missed the combination of we 4 ends like ne 4... we + second vowel + consonant with a tail
Hello, Megan- no litlle companion?????
*shh, j!* baby's asleep -- maybe her mama is too?
No Way- she's waiting for the flip so she can finish the puzzle before she goes to bed!!!!! The stinker! (No jealousy here.....)
jaianniah -- i have been curious about the derivation of your name. Never heard it before (or saw it)...
i'm always afraid i'll mistype it... ;-)
baby awake now (speaking of stinkers) late afternoon nap for me, so not sleepy yet.
It was given to me by my Spirit Guide.....I know, that sounds crazy, but it's true...I found out later it means"bearing the Word of God"....So I use it now
baby awake so soon?!? that's just not fair...
Thanks Angelsong, circe and stidmamma. I've finished but I can't see how that we 5/9 fits in the grid. Maybe I'm just too tired. Night everyone.
It is a lovely name with a beautiful meaning. I have many friends with spirit guides... have yet to meet my own, though.
Thank You!
I'm trying to get her used to sleeping in *her* room (as opposed to the living room where the play pen is), which would be a lot easier if my upstairs neighbors weren't elephants
MAH, good night -- you gave it super effort.
It's the rule- all upstairs neighbors are elephants....
hmmm... seems that maybe she needs some "white noise" to mask the sudden sounds of apartment living? I know it always worked for me!
upstairs neighbors are clumsy elephants.
got a fan going, plus a nature sound track. I mention elephants right? They really are remarkably loud. :-)
i don't really know about making kids sleep in their own rooms so early -- we kept ours with us the first year or so -- when the baby was born, we got the "big" brother a little bed and he was so thrilled that he didn't notice he wasn't in the room anymore!
elephants, indeed! Maybe they could do with some elephant-sized anti-grav boots?
