This puzzle looks a little higher than the last, but is just as weird....
hooray for all the near-finishers!
I know how you feel I only had 9 to go
only 67 words?
67 words today.... looks like a tough one, though.
good job nat :)
hey thanks everyone for the clues.... one question - the scorers they showed, how do they tally those points to list them?
thanks leslie, where did you come from?
hiding out until the flip?
well, when a mom and a dad love each other very much...
not sure, talk! it may have something to do with who finished earliest for each score...
hi Mum! Jill says hi, too! Refresh for new pic of Liv. :-) (Who is sleeping peacefully right now.)
i finished a bit ago, just came back
Hi knutmeg! She's so precious!
thanks for the new pic, knut! she is adorable (as always)
pogo!?
Hi, Megan! How did it go with Jill?
We're doing fine. Johnny just called asking for his wife to come home now. :-) So she's leaving soonish. But we watched a few movies and played with Livia for a bit. Tis all fun. :-)
Like my dorky new icon? I'm not even IN Washington. But I do eat their apples. In fact, I'm going to have one right now.
polly?? GOTH?! grrrrr
it also doesn't take mosh (not in today's), yum, but that's one of the ones i think it should
yeah it should, and taxhog too
lol, define taxhog for me
gwbush
ok I am back, had to go get a red icon
taxhog: the sheriff of nottingham and prince john...

any help for the two to 5/14's ...last two for me.
i give up with two words to go.. :(
there are some rather odd words in this grid (but then what grid doesn't have odd words) - can I help with any of them? If it helps, I think nearly every letter on the grid is used in at least one word (even the X)
one of the to 5/14's is a latin plural of an earlier word for roman dress...
either to 5/14 would be great ...thanks in advance.
the other to 5/14 is also a modification of another to, but a fairly unusual modification...
thanks rycaut - got your first clue, working on the second ...thank you!
think chemistry...
anyone else? I'm going to shut down soon
rycaut ...throw me another bone on the last to 5/14 - still not seeing it.
modify the to 4/4 - there's another hint I'll give if that doesn't help.
searching ...hang on a sec - thanks again by the way.
okay rycaut - i give ...what's the final clue you've offered so kindly?
Thought I would start the day by scrolling back in the chat log. There is a great clue for the ha8 from Ruthie and leslieAnn. That is the only one I have so far, but here goes
Good morning, ex-Wren.
use a sometimes vowel
okay, thanks again ...searching.
Morning Haz, what is it like today, I'm reading dire comments of some very peculiar words, like the ha8!
Morning Haz and ExWren :))
Morning all - this looks easier but I sspect it might not be
I'm finding this very sticky so far! I haven't looked back in the chat log yet, so maybe that will yield some clues.
Ha! you don't need to change your icon, to be fashionable today Fmitch, it's already red
Good morning, FMitch - you'll be playing today?
Its easy today once you get stuck in. I finished a while ago so it has to be an easier one lol
So, it's not so much sticky as 'has potential' then?
anyone have a different clue for the to 5/14 ...that doen't end in an e? last word-itis ...HELP!!!
Definately, although I must say the h7 and 8 are real doozies but it is a good one today and too short.
take the to 4/4 before it, use the sometimes vowel, but not at the end...
Insert the sometimes vowel between the last two letters of the fee paying to4/4
thanks haz, and everyone else for the clues! ...finished at last - 4:37a.m. here, time for bed (long overdue).
can i offer a quick clue (or two) before turning in?
Sleep well, beazus!
thanks haz, enjoy the grid ...need a clue perhaps?
Haz would you let me know yr email address. I have put mine in my profile, if you write it down and let me know when you got it.
To be honest, I don't even know what I need yet. I'm still on my first sweep. But thanks for the offer. Go to bed!!!
clues going once, going twice.......
Okay, FMitch - will do.
very well ...thanks again to all. g'nite!
FMitch - e-mail sent.
Thanks Haz, will go check it out.
Hi ExWren, sorry I missed yr earlier post re my icon, - whats the theme today?
The icon theme today is 'red'!
FMitch - there is a problem with my e-mail in that it won't let me open your message - presumably because of the attachment. Do you want to try again without the attachment, initially?
LOL, wel I do fit in, in a sort of reddy pink way. Haven't really had time to keep up with the themes recently.
Haz, that is v interesting as I haven't rec'd yr mail yet so have not replied!?!?
Something strange, then - your e-mail address is quoted in the bottom of the notice thing. I'll delete the whole thing as I worry about attachments I'm not expecting.
probably best to be on the safe side. You are off out soon aren't you as it's Thursday - we can catch up later.
No riding today as the schools are off for Easter but I do have other things I should be doing. I'm helping to organise a charity event in June (for ladies who lunch!) and there's work to be done for that. But I'll probably be on and off through the day.
Ahh Easter hols! seem to go on forever :)
Schools here tend to take the week before and after Easter. It's very late this year so it's going to be a very short summer term. Anyway, I'm taking a break with 43 words found and the list to consult for the rest. See you all later.
TTFN
67 words??? does that mean they are obscure??
Hello Ginger some of the words are obscure
Omg, this is gonna be harder than "67 words" would indicate..
just found a couple of obscure ones by monkey typing!!!
yes you are right I got taken in thinking it was easy
methinks that monkey is going to be kept very busy today!
wonder if he's in a union...... !!
morning all :) why do I try 'pogo' even though in the log earlier it said it wasn't accepted :/
because we all do it chessy
I did too!
well, I know what the plural of roman attire is now!
Ginger that shoud be useful in your every day life
tiger - like so many of the other everyday babble words, ywis, crwth, naoi etc. etc :)
yes chessy I use them all the time now
I feel enriched!!!!
i am finished- does anyone need a FEW clues before I try to get some sleep?
The 8 letter would be useful!
Congrats jaianniah, and on your beautiful grand-daughter :)
could use a list of 6 letter words (well. the first letters at least)?
I sometimes wish the message would be "Oops, you've already tried that one"
The eight letter word is obscure (surprise)- try putting together a syllable from HAppy+ lop+ the ending of Myopia.....:o)
only found 1 6 so far (po6/21)!!
LOL Wren.... or... trying it more than one won't make it appear!
ap6/21 ap6/27 pe6/21 po6/30 po6/21 ti6/24
Thanks MrP, I'll get to work on those right away.
ap 6/21 landed on the moon-gets fish award....and then....
The 8 letter word doesn't exist. Tut tut.
ok ladies and gents... I need an Odd Spot! Anyone got an interesting, facinating fact they would like to share?
ap6/27 is obscure sorta- try using the word for saying a sorry and lopping off the last letter....and then.....
The ha8 is ha+pl4/6+3rd & 1st vowels
the Pe word uses a syllable from pelican and syllables from stomata....and then....
the po word uses the 5/18 before and adds a vowel...and then....
po 6/21 gets another fish award- you say po****, I say po****.....
The last in your list means you are in ti*to* shape Nighty nite! Hope that helps!
what on earth does that mean!!! (thanks for the 8)
I googled a definition for the ha8 - it's single vision.
Thanks for that Haz.. now I know LOL
I assure you, the eight letter word is right there in the puzzle-hap+lop+(my)opia!!!!!
oh well, will make my own interesting facinating fact for the odd spot... thanks anyway
wow! only 67 words. Happy Thursday :)
Lol I've been tryna think of one Mr P...but it's just not happening. Sorry.
fish award???
cliffopa- you won't stay sooo happy when you actually try to find those 67 words!!!!!
I only have 27 words! 40 to go and getting obscurer by the minute!
Ginger - she means that the word is so obvious that you will hit yourself with a fish when you find it. The po6/21 is a root vegetable much beloved by the Irish.
Fish award is for those words you slap your forehead and say "DUH" over......
yes, now i'm seeing why it won't be a piece of cake. not much of a variety of letters today.
oh right , thanks haz, got that one!
29 words to go & seem to have hit a brick wall. Have found all the 6's ,7 & 8. Dosn't help, can't find the little bug***s!!!!!!!
ok, have updated the Odd Spot on Lickety's Babble Clues! Enjoy!!
Haha! 23%? That's crazy!
ok, what's the 'odd spot'???
Good morning everyone. Wanted to say hello before the computer gremlins get me and I can't communicate. It's been very frustrating lately-often get to a point where it's just not worth struggling. Talking with Dr God to see what might be creating the problems. Unfortunatly where I live dial up is the only alternative.
A Freebie!!!! Thank Oprah- drop her "r" and you have a four letter word in the puzzle- it's an exclamation
LOL - MrP
hi eva :)
ty
ty for the ty
hi cliff
:-)
ginger, are those your grandchildren?
one is my son (5) and the other is my grand daughter who is 2...
Taking a rest at 40, see you later
I tell you, it is very surreal having grand children that are not much younger than my own kids.... gets very confusing at times!
so i'm guessing you have your hands full :)
Another Freebie!!! An ag word would look "ugly" if it had a u.....
see you later wren!
ty ginger, the little ones are lovely
ginger, one of my best friends when i was a child had 8 nieces and nephews before he was born! he loved it tho - they were a wonderful bunch.
Morning all, feel good after finishing last night. Going to tackle this one now. Geneva
just a little cliff... I will have 5 here today after school time, aged 8, 6, 5, 3 and 2..... wonder if my red haair will be grey by the end of the day! Although I have 6 kids myself there is a 10 year gap between 2 lots of 3.....
Ginger- scroll back the messages- I gave some clues for a few words you might like to add to your collection.....
my oldests partner said he always looked forward to taking his brother-in-law to a bar... he didn't realise it would be a milk bar!!!!!!
Sorry- I meant Geneva....I'm tired!!!
lol ginger!
THANks... I have been working on them!! :-)
anyone got the go5 ?
Ginger -think Robinsons Jam and the badges you used to be able to get.
It's an expression of surprise, Ginger.
=( Slowing right down now at 4. This is difficult.
Golly, I wonder who might have that word....
LOL Haz - are you on yahoo messenger?
great clues... thanks!
Jaiannah - you're giving words away!
Haha! You can't just give it away, like that. My prev. statement should have read "43"...I'm not stuck on four words... Lol.
jaianniah - your clues are going from spelling the words out to posting the words!!!!
gulp sorry couldn't resist
FMitch - no I'm not. I've never got onto anything more technical than e-mail!
yeah, clues are nice but answers spoil the fun!
The admittedly unwritten rule is that you give away, at most, a couple of letters. Your eagerness is going to take away the thrill of the hunt.
i ask forgiveness....i just had surgery and have been up for two days in pain....my judgment isn't very good mea culpa
You're forgiven!
hope you feel better soon!
good morning every one!
Are you not able to sleep because of the pain? Can the doctor not increase your medication?
morning bex
<------------rose from todays garden
where are all the words
The rose is lovely - it'll be months before we see any on this side of the Atlantic. We had hailstones yesterday!
i had my back reconstructed.....there just isn't any way to get rid of all the pain...and some days are worse than others...ty for your concern....
15 words left. I'm sure some of these don't exist though. And why on earth isn't pogo included?
jaia - what was wrong with your back
I'd prefer hailstones and roses in June to Katrina
30 words left
Any clues for pa5/12 please?
car accident...got rear-ended by a guy going 55-60 mph while i was stopped - I don't know the km
we use mph janniah
pa+ a word for an "era"
jaianniah - i have 7 disc's collapsed near the base of spine, cant opperate
Thank you! Got it.
ty J...good clue ;-)
nasty
jaianniah - i was rear-ended by a man going 95-100 mph (he was trying to kill himself) when i was driving to work one day. i was doing about 50 mph.
ow ow ow scatty
is anyone else sitting there going... oh, that IS a word??? LOL
O M G!!!! Are you okay?
Good morning! Is this a nasty little grid or what?
Ginger- I was either dope-slapping myself or saying "No WAy!" Nothing in between....LOL
To make matters worse jaianniah, in 1996 i was hit by 2 cars at 55 mph, one from each side. (the other was in '02) i have 6 partially herniated discs, nerve damage in my arms and legs. i won't let anyone operate at this point because they want to fuse too much of my neck and spine. so i'm living with a bit of pain.
Remind me never to travel in a car with you cliffopa!
Wow, cliffopa, you are a lightning rod! I know what you mean about surgery... we have a bit in common (but different ways of getting there).
it only happens when i am aloneExWren. i don't know if that is good or bad.
jaianniah - can you actually arrange trips before hand or do you have to see how you are feeling at the time. They have got me on 520 mg of morphine per day now, and rising
Has anyone got at5/16? Am getting so stuck now, with 12 left to go!
Sorry, I don't have that one yet, PP... I'm only about half way...
One of my favorite gods is in the grid!
Haha mine too.
Do you have an at4 that is almost opposite of go? Add the sometimes vowel to end...
Lol awesome! Thanks.
Glad to help! :D
Scatty- I can never predict how a day is going to go....so I try to just live with it as best as I can....good days and bad days- rain makes it worse
Oh well, gotta stop with 40 words... gotta go wake the household & get them on their way... later!
bye jera.
lunch time over... now to the last 26 words!
anyone got the pi5 ?
Begininng of pi4 and opposite to off...couldn't think of a more complex clue, sorry.
lol PP ... that'll do fine!
oooooh!!! Lovely red icons!!! :D
hi all
Bubbles! hiya! :D
hi babbler
how are you and Bobsta? and your new house? and the decorating? : )
5 left... I'm getting so excited!
looking for ha7 now....
Does anyone have the second to5/14 and the to4/6 straight after it?
stuck on ap6,27
Ginger, start with the ha8, then a bit of England's capital, then end with a nice cuppa!
were good thanks, the decorating is going well, was hoping to be in for bob's birthday on monday but don't think it will happen. Probably be the end of next week. Fingers crossed!!! How are you?
sounds good, Bubbles. Happy Birthday to Bobsta from me for next week! I'm good too, thanks. I might even play today! LOL :D
ap 6/27 is a bit like saying sorry, but not finishing it.
i don't ever get to play these days i'm either busy in work or covered in paint!!!! I will tell him, i think i'm gonna decorate the front of the house, make sure everyone knows he's getting an old git!!!
Any clues for the ha5?
Okay, got ha5. Just need two "to"s. This is so hard!
weird word!!!
aww, Bubbles! lol :D
=( I'm guessing no one has the second to5/14?
do you know which 2 to's you are looking for?
Just the second 5/14 now, FMitch.
PP, insert the sometimes vowel between last two letters of to4
Oh good clue Chessy!!!
Lol thank you!
Okay. 11 words left. I've been up for 27 hours. I think I should make a go at sleep. Night kiddos. :o)
=( Why doesn't it tell you when you finish, like Sudoku? Does it mean I've done something wrong?
sleep well, Holly : )
Psycho - it's why some babblers give out fireworks, because babble doesen't! Congratulations!
No, but you can get fireworks :) ~~**~~**~~**%%**~~**~~** ~~
In babble the only way you know you have finished is by being pro, or if non pro by keeping eye on # of words in yr list.
Lol yayayayyyyy! Thanks. =D My first one...probably my last as well, realistically. Haha.
Does anyone need any clues before I go to workie-malurkie?
Guess not! Thanks for all your help everyone! Could never have done it without you guys! Y'all rock. Lol, catch ya soon! x-x-x
*~*~*~*CONGRATULATIONS PSYCHO*~*~*~*
I'm playing yet....gone *poof*
all done
i'm done too. what a wierd bunch of words today.
well done cliffopa
%"%"%"%"WTG cliffopa and scatty%"%"%"%"
Hi folks. 55 words found in 30 mins. I'm going to save the rest for later.
morning, Babble!
morning, lovely red people!!! (red was my idea!) : D
Hi Babbler & Angel. 57 words now and I really am going! I'll savour the last 10 words after I've done my chores.:) Happy Babbling.
final one and I just can't see it a clue for the ha 5/18 please
ha + double what you do in the loo + 2 consanants
ha5/18 ha plus a word that can describe thin wood or the number of strands in wool
thanks so much got it
Great clue, Haz! Thank you, I needed that one too :)
you're welcome, both.
DONE...anyone need a clue??
Ooey, take away the r,s,d, throw in a few more vowels, and it really cuts down on the number of words. I may have some spare time today. Any really ugly ones I should be aware of before I start?
Nearly done now, I have just reached the a's (I always work from the bottom upwards, it saves having to scroll up and down all of the time)
Merk...most are pretty usual...ha7 and ha8 are unordinary
You know, of all the odd words that are in these puzzles, I learned something new today. Pogo is not a word. Isn't it a pogo stick? Or is that all one word?
I'm not far behind you Exwren - I work the same way
I think Pogo was a brand name of the stick
yes it is but pogo is also a dance craze from the punk era!
hello everyone!
mornin babblers!!
good afternoon, fellow Babblers! :-D
All done - shopping now!
67 words & 701 pts today
ive found a whopping 19 of them and im already going blind...heh
WHY isnt pogo a word?
they just discussed that earlier... its probably a Brand name, not the name of the actualy toy...
Weren't the "P" words fun!
Oh, okay! I know what you mean.
hmm; wonder if what i type is showing up? :-/
i see ya mikey. :)
Hey folks
HI MIKEY Good to see you
if anyone wants to post hints for the larger words, i wont argue. ;)
Morning everyone!! Haven't been on this week... how are all of you fine people?
morning Jen I havent been on this week either
oh, ok evanadine; it's just that i greeted everyone, and nobody said 'hi', so i wondered? :-/ hi, Shorty!!! and hi Jen.....not sure if we've 'met' yet, have we? :-)
heh, sorry mikey...ive just been concentrating on the grid
Nice to "meet" you Mikey! :)
ah. No wonder I was getting stuck already, only 67!!!
Good morning to all and a large howdydo to Mikey!
another one bites the dust. I'll give you a free gift evanut, ha8 = ha+pl4/6+2vowels
Sorry, meant evanadine
thanks exwren! that pointed me in the direction of the HA7 as well. :)
morning Mikey, I don't think we have been introduced
thanks exwren! now what the heck does it mean? X /
Maybe the P ones weren't as much fun as I thought. I need a clue for PI 5/12 please?
merk, pi 5/12 = where a car pulls in during a race + opposite of off
ok, i'm not as bright as evandine, and i'm unable to find the ha7 from the ha8 clue, so, anyone wanna help?
HA + the storyline of a novel + 2 vowels
oopsie, i cant read my own words!! HA + pl, pl, fizz, fizz + 2 vowels. :)
thanks, evanadine, but i've got the 8, just need the 7.
* raises hand* me, too! : )
same 1st 5 letters
me three!
me four lol
got it! thanks!
As evanadine said: same first four letters, ends it crossed letter.
thanks evandine and exwren
evanadine, sorry
I am done and can give some clues, before I go shopping for vinegar. That's from yesterday's cleaning discussion, and I am out of it.
ty ! : D
i could use some clues for the 6es -- ive got the T6 meaning best condition
ap 6: one is a god, also a speed skater, second is same first four letters, sounds like to excuse onself, without the finaly sometime vowel
pe 6 same four letters as preceeding word, then corssed letter and first vowel
po 6 is po 5/18 plus third vowel
i'm down to my final two words... any clues for the ti 6/24?
the other po is a food that caused a famine in Ireland
book -- if you are doing well, you are in T**-*** shape!
thanks, evanadine...hadn't even thought about that possibility.
ti 6: combination word of two meaning acme or apex, different middle vowel
thats all the 6's, did it help?
you rock inge. thanks.
finished!
thanks, inge & evanadine! first puzzle i've finished in a couple of weeks!
yay to inge, bookgrrl!
tyvm Inge. That was most helpful!
congrats to all finishers
I'm back for more fun... hey all!
Inge, have you ever rinsed your hair with vinegar? after washing I mean.
{{{Jera}}}! How's by you?
hallooo Jera!
yay to bex!
{{{JEN}}} howya been, hon?? Are you still down south?
Hey bbnaz... good to see you!
Yup, still here! Got sick again! I think I am allergic to Florida! LOL
wow; down to the 'pe' section now.....and still going! :-P hey to everyone who's arrived since my nose has been stuck in this grid!!! :-D *waves*
Well, then you shouldn't go off & leave me so often! ;> You're gonna miss the Eagle Festival this weekend! I'm taking my Scouts even tho' it's supposed to rain... maybe we'll see some wet Eagles?
{{Mikey}} didna see you... you nearly done?
Yay...no more of those pesky PO words!
We are actually headed to Pensacola to see the other grandparents tomorrow... back to Tally on Monday. But I will be back up permanently on May 5... just in time for hubby's and my 11th anniv!
(((((Jera))))) :-) no; not nearly done yet! still working away on it, though! :-P have to get back to helping Heinrich spring clean soon!
Hey, great news! You'll be back for the Sprite's (postponed) birthday party! You know where I live... come on over, we're grilling!
Why the postponment? If it's the 6th, no can do.... that's our actual anniversary.
Aren't you done cleaning yet, Mikey? I'm tired of cleaning... rearranging the bedroom today, if my porr back holds up... I did something bad yesterday & I'm really moving slow today...
hey all jen, jera, bbnaz! anyone know why "polly" is not accepted as slang for parrot?
Hey hey TO! How are ya? :)
I've been grousing about that myself, TOwl.
Nope, nor why you cannot use pogo?
Weather, holidays... happens every year. She's happy though cuz the night before she's having a sleepover campout... little chick put up that huge family-sized tent all by herself! I was quite proud...
i'm good! : )
TO... I tried that as well... yet my second favorite sun god is valid for some reason...
That sounds like a lot of fun! Oh, I actually passed your house on the way out of town! It was about 5:30 AM, so I didn't figure you wanted me to knock on your door! LOL
uhm, no Jera; it takes longer than one day to thoroughly spring-clean a home, you know.....if you're doing a proper job of it! :-P besides, there are things i just can't do yet, while still healing from my surgery, so i have to take it easier than normal, so it will take us a little longer than it would otherwise, too :-/
Oh & happy anniversary, Jen... would your son be okay without you? Give you guys some alone time?
Hey Jen, Nole is in again but once again out.
with only 67 words - the babble gods had to give us something to chew on!!! : D
5:30 am there was a fair shot I was up Babbling, LOL
hey capone! I saw that... maybe I should raise the issue with Jamie. :)
ja, Temple Owl; 'Polly' is a proper name, that's why, i think?
Down to 5 ha7, ha8, pe5/12, pe6/21, last to4 Clues, pleeeeeze. Have to get to dentist
hi capone, mikey!
Mikey, my problem is I try to do everything in one day... one room a day or one project a day would be more reasonable... I usually start at Imbolc & am finished by now, but this might last until Beltane the rate I'm going!
po4/6, anyone? I'd be much obliged.
Which pe5/12? Do you have the one that rhymes with what cantaloupe is?
Last to4/4 = what you pay on a road, or a type of cookie!
Done!
Good morning! Short grid today, thankfully. I only have a few minutes this morning.
ha 8= ha+ pl 4/6 + two vowels
hmm; but a home just can't all be cleaned in one day, Jera; at least not to our satisfaction, it can't :-/
hi ch! po4/6 religious leader
Oops, sorry, last to4 (which is a 5 point) = same as one before except for different ending vowel
ITA, Mikey!
Huzzah for Jen!!
hmm, Jera? 'ITA'??? what's that supposed to mean? :-/
Mikey, I just read that you have a Maine Coon... we have one as well. Aren't they the greatest cats in the world?!!?
ITA = I Totally Agree
oh; i *see*, Jera!!! :-) and yes Jen; they are.....well, then and Ragdolls; my mom has several Ragdolls, which she breeds and shows.....they're lovely cats too, and another breed i'd have, but one cat's enough for me at the moment! ;-) Heinrich has a little toy Yorkie, and i'm looking around for a puppy at the moment, too! :-)
Thanks, Templeowl. Also need go5/18 if you happen to have that one.
We have a big goofy black Lab, so 2 pets is all we can handle at the moment! Abby's been with us for almost 11 years (got her right after we were married), so she's travelled the world with us. :)
The only thing about ragdoll breed that concerns me is that kids would be too rough with them without consequences & really hurt the cat. I'd love a Scottish fold!!
grant, go5 is an expression of surprise go... gee! Or, the title of an old song: Good Go... Miss Molly.
3 ti go thanx to5/14 (second one) pe6/21 ha4/36
By gosh and by go5/18! (Rhymes with disallowed parrot)
pe6 is another name for jai alai.
lol, Jen; ja.....Labradors can be a handful, i've noticed! :-P i'm scouting out Doberman breeders at the moment, to see who i might want to buy a puppy from.....i grew up with Collies and Dobies, and i'm very partial to both breeds; might even end up with a Collie, as i'm watching out for them, too! :-)
well, Jera; i don't think cats should be brought into a home until/unless the kids understand how to treat one, you know? :-/
2nd to5: The group C7H7, derived from toluene. Also called cresyl.
Do you mean ha7/36? It starts like ha8 and ha5, ends like the end of style of typeface
or else maybe the kids need to be carefully supervised around the cat/s, or the cats need to be in a safe place where the kids can't bother them? :-/
To5/14 (2nd) take the road fee and insert sometimes vowel near the end.
My son is fantastic with both animals... I think it's very important for children to be taught properly from the earliest age how to be around animals.
well quite, Jen; i totally agree.....my sister and i were fine with all the animals our family had, even from a very young age; we were shown and taught how to be around them, from the very start.....and we didn't *want* to hurt them, 'cos we loved them! :-)
When we were in SPain, we had a neighbor girl (like 4 YO), and she hadn't grown up with animals and we had to stop letting her play with Chester, who was at the time a puppy... waaaay to rough on him.
Oh yes, Mikey, but sometimes the cat is there first! I just worry about creatures that are too docile, I guess...
ja; well, if that's what you have to do, then you do it, Jen.....i sure would; i wouldn't let a kid near any animal of mine, if they were bound to hurt it in any way!
ja, i realize that, Jera; which is why i said or the kid/s should be closely supervised when around the animals, and of course taught how to treat them!
Gwyd is great with the cats, even cranky Zippy... but he had to learn the hard way a time or two... a bit of a scratch speaks louder than 10 mommy lectures!
29 more to go but must take the girlies to school. see some of you later and the rest, well thanks for all of the clues!
Where we used to live there were some very bad kids in the neighborhood that went around bothering the animals. Our nextdoor neighbor had about 20 cats, none of them neutered, & they all kept having kittens. Anyway the boys did some unspeakable things to a nest of kittens they came across. My cats NEVER went outside when we lived there. Heck, my daughter didn't go out unsupervised!
Later, bbnaz!
oh god, Jera; that's *so* horrible.....how could they want to harm innocent little baby animals??? :-( please don't tell me any more of that, i get *really* upset!!! :_(
My son't best friend is totally scared to death of Chester... even though the worst he'd do is lick you to death. We lived next door to someone once who had the most beautiful Rottweiller... and treated it like s*it. They would leave it tied up to the fence all day without enough lead to even lay down! After we moved we found out that Mufasa (the dog) had died. :(
Don't worry & can't tell it without crying & getting the urge to hunt them down. I wish someone involved would have called the cops. They wouldn't do anything when I called as it was all hearsay & not my animals.
hm. 67 words. sometimes that can be dangerous!
Greetings, harpjane!! Not tooooo bad, some freaky ones in here, though. Words I mean, well, anyway...
Speaking of animals.... I need to get going so I can pick up some more dog food before we leave him with my parents for the weekend! Have a great weekend everyone!
Just 3 more to go... all a's! Those ha's were freaky even by Babble standards.
Bye, Jen!
oh Jen; please don't tell me things like this.....i was having a good day, but when i hear things like this about people mistreating animals, it really upsets me! :-( and there's nothing i can do about it.....i can't understand why anyone would have a dog, just to treat it like that, i really can't!!!
lucky you, Jera; i'm horribly stuck on a stupid 4 letter 'po' word; which is probably the first or second one in that section :-/ even for all the 'monkey typing' i've been doing, i just can't seem to find it!!! :-/
Mikey, if it makes you feel any better, justice was served eventually: the guy was charged with abuse (of his wife) and got court martialed (he was an officer!!)... and punished. Now I really am gone. :)
Oooh! What a great word to finish on ag4/8 is one of my favorite words... use it all the time with my favorite Bobby Burns quote!! *happy dance of doneness*
Got called away for an hour. If Bkkgrrl is still here, thanks for the PI clue!
ja; but that doesn't bring that poor dog back, and give him any compensation for all his suffering :-(
I need help! (hi guys) I have four to go... to 5/14 ? (I already have roman wear + a vowel)
Take your 4/4 & put the sometimes vowel between your double consonants
Thanks Jera, I would never have gotten that... 3 to go... pa 5/12?
p, 3 vowels, cons
One to go.... Im going to try and earn these fireworks on my own! thanks Hurshy...
Hey all Joe? Are you around?
Go, Student, go! You can do it!
ah; we're working on the same section, 'The Student' :-)
hi there, ToeSockMonkey! :-)
Just so I can be cheered on quietly with the people at home knowing the answer, im looking for pe 6/21
YES!!!!! FINISHED! FIRST EVER!
Hooray for Student! Congratulations.
*****Hooray Student!!*****
all done! Anyone need clues?
Thanks everyone, off to bed for me now. Cheers!
Huzzah for Student!!
'You have 0 word(s) left to find' whooohooo.....that's me finished! :-D
Huzzah for Angelsong!! *happy dance of doneness in both of their honor*
Yay for Angelsong and Mikey! kaurie, where are you in Massachusetts?
Go Angel and Mikey!!
Huzzah for Mikey!
aw; thank you, Vicuna and Kauri! :-)
thank you, Jera! :-D hehe!
Hey, TSM... didn't see you come in before...
Waltham Vicuna. Are you in MA as well?
Yes, I'm in Needham, so we're pretty much neighbors!
Ok guys enough back slapping and start throwing out the hints to the envious group aout here -but forever grateful :)
What do you need, Sushi?
yes, Sushi, tell us what you need & we will gladly help!
besides a glass of bourbon...? Let me consult the master list again.
Vicuna- How very nice to cyber-meet a neighbor! I hope you get out to enjoy the gorgeous spring day we're having! =)
I think the kids and I will take a walk to a playground some time today, kaurie, but at the moment they are playing happily on their own and I don't dare rock the boat - even if it means sitting here in front of the computer forever!
Let me work on the list for a bit before I go asking for clues. I was trying to go solo - heck who can't find a measly 67 words. Hah!
i hate words that start with ae.
Please, a clue for the EA 5/14, just cannot get it........
The ea5/14 is a large bird of prey.
ea5/14 - symbol of the USA
ea5/14 USA official bird . . . Golden Ea***
OMG, I feel so stupid......the obvious words become the obscure. Thanks all. I can uncross my eyes now.
*peeks in again* NANCY, that happens to me ALL the time! :-P
hi, Hazel! :-D
ditto!
We all do it at one time or another. I remember the day I had a hard time convincing myself that 'soup' was a proper word.
Oh, and good afternoon Mikey.
good thursday, all! I got halfway last night without a list... going to see if I can do the whole thing...
Any clues for PO6? Maybe I need lunch to think straight
hehe, i'm infecting people
po6, you really don't want a clue, you'll just kick yourself
po6/30 - Latin pl of po5 po6/21 - Irish po6 Famine
lunch might help - depending on what you eat... :)
ah, unless there is aNOTHER po6 :)
Eat French fries and think again!
Help. Only 1 to go. the ha7/,36 Tried the ha/8 + typeface style, but I guess I don't know those. Tried ha*g**h, but that wasn't right. Pleeze, I need to leave for dentist soon. Geneva
po6: vegetable under ground
You guys are right!! If I had French Fries I might have gotten that darn PO6....man. I'm up there with the non-bird-of-prey-guesser.
take the ha8 and remove last three letters. replace them with last two letters of little picnic insect
Vicuna, thanks so much, now I can go. Ugh!!
You're welcome. I hope the dentist is just a routine and painless cleaning!
i'm having trouble with po 5/18...assistance is needed. thanks!
I'm trying to figure that one out also abe..
po5/18 - think of coral or a nonmalignant growth
po5/18 - a type of non-cancerous lump. Form it by adding a vegetable sounding letter to the previous po4
YAY rumplestiltskin!
Guess I will assist since I received so much. Take it that I am not ha*** about going to the dentist and change the next to the last consonant to another.
Haz/ Vacuna, thank you. i figured that word was on the board, but i didn't know how to spell it! thanks again!
you're welcome,abe.
vicuna, sorry, i'm having a major spelling problem today
Jera, are you still in here? yahoo messenger disconnected me again and crashed on me completely this time :-( it gives me all kinds of problems, which is why i use msn messenger too, with the same address! :-/
No problem, abe!
okay, 22 left, time for the list.... :-) BRB
Hello fellow Babblers :)
Hello faerie!
Hi Haz :)
i still can't get po 5/18. i need a dumb person's hint. the definitions aren't hepling.
Hello, Faeriek.
also need help with the HA words
Hi Vicuna :)
bleugirl2, 'po5,18' is the same as the preceding word, only add the first letter at the end again
Do you have po4/7 that goes with roly? Simply add a letter that is also a small green veggie that comes in a pod.
No problem, I just figured heinrich attacked you or something to make you stop chatting with the crazy lady
Did you get my WOW to your jete picture??
lol, Jera; 'attacked' me? :-P hehe! well, he might if i don't get off here now.....so......i will see you later, ok? :-)
Alrighty! Later!
oh, and no; sorry Jera, i didn't see that! i have better ones! ;-)
Afternoon all, Hows everyone doing?
bye everyone.....have fun with the grid!!! :-D *waves*
{{{FMitch}}} Hi!
Bye Mikey
hey, FMitch! Doing pretty well... are you done yet?
50 words done..... 17 to go!
Good afternoon FMitch - and bye to Mikey.
Nobody noticed at the time, but I said the ea5/14 word this morning... we are going to a festival for them this weekend & I was blathering about it...
bye Mikey, hi FMitch!
Hi all, yup I am done but thought I would pop in and see what was happening. :))
I'm still with the sad patient group desperately waiting for the HA clues.....sob...
Well, I have got to get some food in me & do some more work for the meeting tonight... can't have idle 10 year olds having to amuse themselves! Later, all!
Sushi - do you need clues for all the ha words?
Not even noon yet here and I am finished. Hurrah! What a fun one. I loved some of those PO words. They just kept building and building, turning and twisting. Bells, whistles, and toodle-loo.
Later Jera :)
CONGRATULATIONS MERK!!!
Well done, Merk - I can tell you're pleased!
YAY Merk!
bye Jera
Hello, FMitch. Hooray, Merk!
why don't you start with clues for ONE HA word and then maybe it will inspire me for the others.
did I see Jen in here earlier?
Okay - ha5/18 - ha plus a word that can describe thin wood or a strand of wool.
woohoo Merk and bye Jera! Haz, guess you finished too?
ha clues, if they havent come through yet: ha 8 ha + pl4/6 + third vowel and first vowel, ha 7: same first five letters + fourth vowel plut corssed letter, Ha 5: same three first eltters + stick letter and sometime vowe.
ha8 - take the first four letters of the ha5/18 and to it add an ending used with my**** to indicate short-sightedness.
Faerie! SBB FTW!
ha8/55 - ha + p--- p--- fizz fizz + last two letters of Ut word for a perfect society
Yes - I finished earlier on. Some nice words once they could be extracted.
Hi Capone - what's shakin'?
Congrats to you too then Haz :))
It all seems a long time ago!
know what you mean!!
any hints on the 2 ap6's please?
ap6/21 - god of the sun ap6/27 - saying you're sorry, minus final y
ap6 - ap13 failed to get to the moon so they made a film about it. The other ap is almost, but not quite a complete 'sorry'
Hi all. Wasn't going to play today but I have a little while so I'm going to see how far I get. Looks little but I have been deceived by short lists before
Vicuna - great clues I got both of them from you just now myslef. <grin> Thanks.
thanks vicuna... and Haz... tried to find the moon one earlier but decided it wasn't there!!!!
{{{Music}}} Hi!

You're welcome, ginger and Faerie. Musicmom, jump in! It's not bad!

Not a bit Cait. I have always thought that was cool. Thanks for asking!
Congrats. MusicMom!!!
Thanks Faerie.

I agree Hurshy. tata
caitlyn, if you have AIM, and you are interested, i can give you a tutorial on how to play them. i did that for atalante and now she can solve them all.
is there an N6? if so may i have a clue?
hurshy thanks but i dont know enough about computers to know what AIM is !!
it is AOL Instant Messenger - it is a free program you can download and use to chat privately with friends
Hurshy - there is No n6
hmmm, well then is there another T6 besides ti6?
lasy night i learned about the clue page haha :) yay
I will get some computer lessons hurshy TY there is a ny 5/14 do you have that?
ooh, 5 points caitlyn :)
nope
Pardon ?
you just inadvertantly scored 5 points in "Guess What Hurshy is Missing", despite the fact that no official session had been announced :)
caitlyn Think pantyhose
Best points i have earned LOL
Thanks suebhoney
:) suebhoney, do you OWN sue bee honey the company or do you just really like it?
oh sorry caitlyn, i thought you had that ny5 when you mentioned it
anyone else think this grid's a bear? I'm stumped at 27 words - the x is just throwing my feng shui way off :)
dinna worry, the x is not used much
hurshy i have (i finished early today )
My initial are Sue B. I was dubbed suebhoney when I was 7 and I kept it when the internet caught on and I started to need a screen name for stuff :D

oh, oh good then i was not negligent. and thank you for the explanation sueb
i either need a p6 or an a6 then - i have 2 of each so far
Hurshy there are 3 p 6's
ty faerie
There are only 2 a/6
and ty caitlyn :)
yw :)
Whannn, 'pogo' is not a word.
hurshy--2 po/6's and 1 pe/6
if the pe6 is a common word, don't give me a clue. but if it is weird, i would like one. :)
hurshy--how weird is jai alai?
oh that's right i remember people saying before that it was the ball from that. sadly in the jingle for newport jai alai they didn't mention the ball. i will google it.
gah, i cannot see the pi5/12, any clues?
kaurie, it is a thing rock climbers use, they stick it into the rock
I'm not seeing the ap words...can someone clue me?
one is a greek god the other sounds like the part of a book that comes after all the chapters
brb
my monkeys are failing me. would anyone like to opine as to what they feel are the most peculiar p4 and t4 words today?
hurshy none of them are odd words today
Hurshy - I'm thinking pe 4/7 is a funny word but not hard to find
hurshy--there's a ta 4/9 and the th/4 that are unusual, but all the other p and t 4's are pretty common both in Babble and in real life
caitlyn, you must have a very good vocabulary then, as some of the ones i already have seem odd to me - like to + 3.14159265358979323846....
5 points to doll414!
I meant the 4 letter words!LOL
thanks hurshy now I am done!
caitlyn, that IS a four letter word.
drat, i have those odd t's. what is the point total today then, please?
701 total points in all.
oh, nvm, singular fish! (did you even know there was one?)

What the hell is wrong with "pogo"....? Not only is it a child's toy, but it's also a type of dance ....
long before I was born
but it's a nickname for Dolores
at least in my case it is
need to share my excitement - in 48 hours I will be seeing the little munchin in my icon

Movieman I share your disbelief and have put it in numerous times but it is just not having any of it.

I am ashamed to admit my heavy use of a2z today but I have finished.
I'm struggling with the ha's. Can anyone help?
you're not the only one
ha 8: ha + pl 4/4 + third vowel and first vowel
Thanks, Inge. That's a nutty word.
ha 7: same first 5 letters, ends in crossed letter,
ha 7/36 - ha + terrorists crashed the **anes + opp of off + cross
ha 5: word expressing joy, change next to last consonant to stick letter,
Whoa. The ha7 may be nuttier than the 8! Thanks Inge and Bunny.
Did anyone here used to play Boggle?
GrannieL - I did..... But my friend punster always wiped the floor with me.....
Don't be ashamed Katie, I couldn't manage without a2z. I do try to find the words first, but I don't waste time on a lost cause if the word escapes me
I play boggle.
Look out!!!! There's a Reds fan on the loose!!!!!!
TY movie . I was able to get on the site yesterday and it is now gone. I am suffereing withdrawal symptoms
So, Wrennie, what do you think of 'Pool's chances in the cup on Saturday....?
shut--did you play online?
Yes, for a while--long ago--our family was infatuated with BOggle, the game is still hanging around here somewhere.
No, I have the game itself, not on the computer.
Well, thanks all for your input. I'm off to do some food shopping; then clean house. A woman's work is never done bye
Ok, babblers, what is Pool's and Red's referring to?
last one: ti6/24 anyone? thanks in advance!
Inge - 'Pool is short for Liverpool (the team that exWren supports) and The Reds is the team's nickname.....

I'm back, it is just so nice outside I can hardly stand it. I love this time of year so it is very hard for me to stay focused on the grid :)
Got it ExWren. How about the Red Wings and the Pistons? Those are our teams. Are those names even familiar on your side of the pond?
There is another no 4/4
Red Wings are playing tomorrow night Inge. Do you watch?
ty inge! : )
thanks inge! any combo i came up with started with 3 letters that make "boob". apparently, my mind is in the gutter today Hi Temple Owl and Fairireieieiekaeea!
{{{{Smaller}}}} Hi
Yes I watch most of the time. Our Bromeliad Club has a plant called Red Wing. I think they should propogate it and sell at the games....
Smaller I have two of those *teehee*
LOL Inge - I try to see as many games as possilbe myself.
(((smaller))) (((faeireikaaaaaaaaeeeeeeeeeee ee)))
I'm hoping the red's have a good chance movieman, but only because they are my hubbies team and if they win, he is happy. It was the reddest thing I could find for an icon
((((((Tempppppppllllllllllleee eeeeeee))))) HI !!!
i have one ta4, one th4 and one ti 6 - missing any of those ?
faeiriireekaee, you luck duck. when i run, i have monoboob.
Hi ExWren! Pretty fountain!
I have never been inside Joe Lewis arena for a game. The parking and traffic scare me, not to mention the noise. I have been to a couple of games at the Compuware arena near us, that was enough.
LOLOLOL Smaller :)
Smaller - Refresh
Red Wings sound as if they are from Minnesota, is that right inge
I think Joe's last name was Louis not Lewis.,
lol smaller! i returned to the gym for the first time today and my workout top is now so small i had the same problem!
If you don't see red "refresh"
nips, chocolate parfait= yummy
thanks fairieakeaa! wondered why exwren's wasn't red! LOLOLOLOL temple owl!! it's not you. the blasted thing shrunk of course!
exwren - hi, did you read my posts yesterday after your last post? or if not, maybe look at my bio.

OK, Temple... how are you doing?
11 left to go. not sure which ones I need. does anyone have that website that lists the letter/point distribution?
rosey - the list is in Babblers Anon and also in Lickety's site over at the right of the screen
Mail just arrived, so I will take a break to sukpply the circular file, and then read my GErman news magazine, thats the only way I can keep up with world news.

Thanx, SCD..... *SLAP!SLAP!SLAP!* A nd one for luck...... *SLAP!!!!!!!!!*
silly me can't find the to 5/14 after what you pay on the expressway in that little booth
exwren, thank you for forgving me. it's not a big deal if you "get it wrong", i just like people to know the idea of the game if they haven't played before, that is why i was explaining it. but it is totally up to you whether you want to play or not.
me neither, Mama!!! i need that one too!
Mama - the "to" is a color
mama: add the sometimes vowel
anyway, yay! that is a load off my mind. i could never be half as cool as you, exwren, and i hated to think i had offended you.
sorry Mama wrong to - I still don't have it.
Temple - add the sometimes vowel to what?
is there a to 5 that's a color?
to 5/14 you stick a sometimes vowel between the double consonant of the prev word
to the to 4 you mentioned, above it?
thanks hurshy!
temple - no, it is just a homonym of a color.
Thanks Hurshy
OK, TO, I was adding at the end instead of in the middle... got it now! Thanks!
ExWren, thanks!
hi all, how goes the puzzle?
omg, finally finished! thanks hurshy for the pi clue, it took me so long to figure it 'cos i wanted ax to be involved in rock climbing!

There was a Batman episode where Batman and Robin were trapped by Catwoman, and placed in this thingy where they would be fried to a crisp. The thingy had some kind of lubrication in it, and Robin exclaimed, "Holy ol 4/4!" Catwoman purred "Why Robin, I didn't know you could yodel."

Janelle - also for a quickie on how to play on the right side of the screen click on Angelsongs Resource page and she has everything you could ever need to know about playing and then also in Angels page is a list of Babble clues under 2 letter word list. Take Lickets page and work with that. Welcome to the madness.

Haven't they heard of a pogo stick?!?
OMG Temple CONGRATULATIONS on finishing in the loo :)

my cat loved doritos...he crunched them and made them sound so yummy!
dachef, you're a weird dude. :)
i think you win, dachef :)
dachef - i saw him right off!
i like the original ones with tuna sandwiches for some reason, they compliment each other well. As for chili cheese, just snacking. great on road trips.

I could see one cat, but three? Isn't that polycatty or something?
Later Sherb
oh yes i see it was part of a clue
so I forgot the "n"- I figured most of you would get it....
Hey I have 3 cats :)
wheni moved back up to ct, there was 5 cats and a dog in the house :) hah
people say they are married with three children, why do i get all this grief over the substitution of one word in a classic phrase?
but now its back to 3
you know, the guy from Roman fame without the h... J-Lo's husband? wait, wasn't he from Troy? So, he'd be trojan. nevermind, it was a bad joke to begin with.
ag 5/18?
just read the last few minutes ROFLMAO - yous peoples is funny!
I have 8 cats at the moment- am babysitting three for my daughter.....talk about litter boxes....
hi smaller!
well that gave me the land in the water word but cannot figure out the other at5........
How about this one..... There's an award for I think stage shows called a TO4. Add an A to the front. Also it's an Italian man's name.
work from ag 4/6
that's a lot of CATS! I can't handle that much apathy, laziness and loathing.
ok tor, read it now, that better?
Smaller - all dried out? New jeans?
TYVM that worked!
oh duh thanks jai
don't laugh TOO hard, smalller...LOL!
laziness, yes, but apathy and loathing? - my cats are not like that at all.
yeah, the to4 is an award for theater, generally musicals, I think. Broadway mostly. Maybe.
NOOOOOO! It's lovingness, fuzziness, and cuddling with five cats on the bed at once!!!
laziness, apathy and loathing? Get enough of that at work.
yeah, smaller - those cath's have a tendency to slip out as a result of uproarious laughter
tooooorgoooooone, where aaaaaaare yoooooou?
sorry, let me clarify: Laziness-cats Apath y-me loathing-me 2-1. I am so winning!
Smaller needs a cath *teehee*
boreetos, you are being very speciesist.
my babies: http://img.photobucket.com/alb ums/v353/miss_carra/Cats.jpg
ok now I gotta p and I'm not going to do the pp dance brb
we've got some work to do now... the scooby doo theme right?
hey! don't pressure me into the cath! I'll p when i want and where I want. i'm a rebel!
ok you guys *giggle* ! hate to leave during silly hour but work awaits! see you tomorrow!
a rebel, and kinda gross.
You GO, girl!!!!!!!
See you on the flip TO!
Work, Temple? Oh yeah, that's what I'm supposed to be doing...... shhhh!!!!!!!!
awww... cute carra
bye TO!
*waves*
see ya TO :)
boreetos, it's not polite to judge. or when you leave your desk, i'll pee on your chair. yin and yang
bye TO!
Another freebie: cross the words pea+ love+tale
bye to!
last week i was watching the news and they had a segment on pets, they said to email photos ..i did and they are going to show them saturday lol
as a word that's almost is today's grid, I nominate "topography"
l8rs Temple! Good luck in the world of the sensible.
Good afternoon/evening dear everybody. My icon is wearing red, but the the picture was taken in black and white.
sensible schmensible.
hi mab!
Boreetos wins! Hold on, wheres the r? Or is that the r that was taken out of Mark Anthony? O, nevermind...
LOL hi mab!
Top Gigo...... oooohhhh Eddie!!!!!!!
Didn't mean to make you go to the trouble, hursh. Just making a dumb joke.
or how about monopoly?
lol mab - well if we are moving beyond letters that appear in the grid, i nominate aereopagi
definition, hurshy?
torgone - and what is a dumb joke for but to be picked up and carried 98 yards for a humorous touchdown?
Hi mab!!!!!! Beautiful shade of red lipstick there!!!
I nominate pitaxi for mathematicians.......
oh yeah?! well I nominate Supercalifraglisticespialadoci ous! even though the sound of it sometimes quite atrocious. if you say it loud enough you'll always sound precocious!
How about "polyglot"?
ap 6/21 ?
it is the plural of aereopagus, which is kind of cheap because the aereopagus is the name of a particular hill. but there might be one on another planet.
and if you say it long enough, you're bound to sound precocious...
hum diddle hum diddle hum diddle aye!!!!
oops - *mamabear makes mental note to always scroll down and read the whole message before spouting lyrics in the future*
good afternoon -- I am plugging away with the grid -- I need help finally on Po6/21
Oh, SHOOT, I did it AGAIN>>>>But if you didn't get thaT word, you should be slapping yourself with a fish......
you know you can say it backwards which is dociousaliexpyisticfragicaliru pus, but that's going a bit too far, don't you think?
not at all Mama, you were joining the chorus!!
pbr - they are really good mashed with gravy!
hi PBR!!
ap6/21 is either a greek or roman god. I mix them all up so i'm not sure which but you should get the idea.
ap went to the moon...don't slap your forehead too hard.....
pbr - think irish famine
:) very nice Hurshy, very nice.
pop6 21 an indispensible part of MY diet!
po6/21 think of a root vegetable that grows underground
hey that's not how Dan Quail spells that word!
ap 6/27 anyone? :)
qnyone know the definition of the ha8/55 I think someone made that one up!!
but that may be how dan quayle spells his name
LOLOLOLOL
i turn 21 in two weeks :D
you say po6/18, I say po6/18, etc etc......
There is an entire generation of young people growing up believing the po word ends in e.
you say vanilla, I say yes please!
ap 6/27 sounds like the bit of a book that comes after all the regular chapters
to6/18...to6/18
yay for you, carra!
ha 8 is seeing with one eye or single vision or something....
that's good carra, cuz we have been known to share a drinky poo on occasion in here!!!! Happy Beearlied Birthday to you!!!!
happy early birthday!
ok kids, I gotta go, I'll be back in a little while. bubye!
...to say nothing of the present administration, some one of which knows not how to read.
hehe thanks
read, or talk, or not be an ass.
bubeye, enchilada.... oops, I mean boreetos!
is that premature happy birthulation?
ok, seriously, quit it, I'm leaving.
thx Hurshy! :)
lol dl88.
cut it out! I gotta go!
Got a clue for that to6/18? Please and thank you ..
Back to finish :)
theres a British comedian who does a briliant take off of Mr Bush - he starts all the speeches with thing like: "my fellow Pelicans, " or "my fellow amnesiacs," or "my fellow amerchinos". Brilliant stuff.
dl88 - LOL - someone wanted trojan to be in the grid - that could help with that pre existing condition you speak of.
ok im at 51 words.. im taking a walk its beautiful out
thanks Jaianniah a big wink!!
sorry boreetos, go
any help with the PE 5, PE 6? or direction to previous clues?
and i look at my window and see the beach its callingme :) hehe bye for now..bahave everyone
which grid you doing, Torgone? There is no to 6/18
there is no to6
As long as we're on the subject of Trojans, do any of you consider "scumbag" as another word for said prophylactic?
THere is no T word that is 6/18
carra - BEACH? Where are YOU??? I am sooooo jealous!!!!
pe5 is like a really bad criminal but with p instead of f
The reason I ask is because there were some complaints about a New York Times crossword that used that word...
There is a t 6/24. When you are in your best possible physical condition you can be said to be in ti6/24 shape.
I see.. Someone used it earlier in a comment .. I'll catch up one of these years ..
bad, Douglas, really bad!!!! Good, but bad......
pe6 sounds like that kind of exercise that is so popular now
im in connecticut lol nothing special
okay found the PE5 by monkey typing so just need some help on the 6..........
pe+ the first three letters of "not short but...." that's one of them pe+ letters from love plus letters from tangle that's the other
got that one too. sometimes it helps to ask and voila! the words jump out and smack you.
19 more.... almost to the ha's - I gather they are not fun
TYVM Jai
it occurs to me that trojan is a really bad name for that, considering that the horse got IN, and the city was conquered.
6 to go!
lol hursh! The horse successfully delivered his payload, so to speak.
pa 5 sounds like someone took pe4/5 and made him Latin by adding a vowel
exactly, tor. is the company aware of this?
mamabear - the ha's are tough. there are some really good clues earlier in the log. I needed the clues, not words I use on a regular basis....
I'm actually not trying to be bad, because I did the puzzle, blissfully unaware
an excersise that is so popular now? Hmmm, "running from the police"? "going to the fridge for another beer"? or is it "walking to McDonalds"?
ha words all start with the same three letters- the first two with the same four
Very very close dachef!
no, you know, dachef, the kind where you move very little, but it is supposed to be really effective, and all the celebrities do it
pe6 = Spanish for ball
Sure, there are Ha words. Should have guessed.
make that the same five letters <------------------from today's garden
they all start with the same four letters, sprite :)
it's an expensive form of yoga.
Just the last four TO words........beginning with the TO 5
I like any exercise where you have to move very little. But doesnt pilates give you wind? Or is my girlfriend just using that as an excuse for stinking the house out every Thursday?
to 5 stick sometimes vowel between double cons of prev word
gives one wind? She should do yoga, which has the opposite effect.
thanks HURSH! I don't think I would have chimped that one..........
you might have the roman outfit, but did you Latinize the ending for another word?
I need help with all 3 HA words please.
well dachef, everyone needs to do something to unwind
I like babble to unwind.
did that one Jai, thanks. I just need the last two TO4 as I have the one that sounds like topo but with a different vowel on the end.
*whispers* sprite i don't think you picked up on my pun
ha7- ha+ the word that means to put a seed into the ground, but you change the vowel
Ive only got 9 left, and am struggling a bit. Is the x used at all today?
got the broadway award too, now just ONE to go!
True confession: I've never spoken the fa word (wind) out loud.
only in the car word Dachef
yes dachef, twice, one of which is an easy word, and the other just changes the last letter of the easy one
mab - that's because girls don't do "that"
thanks for the h7 Jai
Hurshy: guess not :) Just found the 7 and the 8. Stupidhead words, in my opinion. Hope there are some nice ones too.
I love the myth that girls dont break wind. Believe me girls, we know. It isnt only a sport enjoyed by men, although we do seem to get more pleasure out of it!
bbnaz, just change last letter of one you already have
ha8 is single vision- think of nearsightedness for the ending- all three ha words start with the same three letters
and a variation of that word but with the first vowel ending it instead of the third
thanks Hursh, thats another grey box...
ironic that with all the stupidhead words we are forced to find, if "stupidhead" appeared it probably wouldn't count
Well said, dachef. It is true, I think, that men get great enjoyment, whereas women are at least mildly humiliated by the whole digestive process.
X is used twice, in the ta words
dagnabbit......missed the GO word. Thanks for the other TO Hursh!
what is the t word from the t on the right hand coloumn of the grid?
th4, sounds scottish
one of the TA words. either the ride you take or what you pay on purchases ending with the first vowel
ok, now I need a fish, I was ignoring the h. Always had a bit of a blind spot when it comes to h's. Bit of a bugger really, cos I quite often need elp.
done done done doing the happy dance happy to confuse anybody with my obtuse clues
congrats bbnaz! What about the t on the bottom row?
anybody mind sharing how many total words there are in this puzzle??
67 words
I think that they should have made the word "polyglot" work out for this particular puzzle.....
mamabook - there are 467 words today.
That T is very much okay.
DONE!!!!!
ty...my first time playing
ack that is a MAJOR typo
bottom row t, ti6
Yay Minski!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
when you are spitspot you are on the TI* + opp of bottom
good job Minski and welcome to you Mamabook3
thnx Hurshy, Sprite. Why am I asking for clues on words like that, when I managed to monkey-type the po5 + 6? Sigh.
thanks for the help on the po6/21 -- moving on
Why is pogo (stick) not allowed?
Hurshy WHen you are in prime physical condition you can be said to be in TI6 shape.
we think maybe brand name on pogo question
Mamabook, they are pulling your leg....there are 67 hard, tedious and obscure words in this puzzle- OR very easy, head-slapping words.....and nothing in between
i know minski, i was telling dachef what it was :)
Mamabook only 67 words today.
mab - you said a word at 3:04... you've been caught! ;)
ahha sorry baby is interfering with my following of the log .
ty...i was hoping they were kidding me... :)
OK... I have the ha 5/18 - do the 7 and 8 work off that????
Mamabook, you may want to consult Angelsong's Babble Page, link at the right, for further help with today's grid, and other babble info.
no prob :)
happy to confuse otherwise will go and shower........
Mamabear, first 4 letters do. But they are STUPIDHEAD words.
not etymologically, mama, but they do have same first 4 letters
become a pro member. small ducats BIG dividends!
silly, silly words...... sillyopia wordia
Mama ha + think noise/action of wet substance dropping + 3rd vowel + 1st vowel
missing a p. (unlike Smaller from earlier) I have: pe4x2, pe5x1. pe6x1 pi4x1, pi5x1 pl4x4 po4x5, po5x1, po6x2 py5x1 Its driving me nuts, so any clues.....?
see my clues are confusing
do you have the PE worker? the PE + **(riculture)
another po4 dachef
bbnz - yup. Monkeyed that one.
there should be THREE PE4 words
Well, I learned something today...
uh, no bbnaz, there are only 2 pe4's
I heard that there is an average of 1.8 people dying every second, which works out to about a million a week.
you need a po4
<Gomer Pyle>Well go 5/18 Sargeant!</Gomer Pyle>
Douglas, a sad thought. Are you all right?
thanx guys, if anyone wants me Ill have my head in the p's. Havent said that since I had that job cleaning the toilets at that rock festival.....
All is well...but it's a useful thing to think about when I'm not doing well at the puzzle. If that's my biggest problem, I'm doing really well.
Hello. I'd love a clue for to 5,14 ....
to 5/14 put sometimes vowel betw double cons of prev word
The same article said an average of 4.1 babies are being born every second.
Thanks so much Hurshy!
to5/14 Latin plural for Animal House party
yep Hursh you are probably right. I am still enough of a rookie to count the words by the letter total not the score total.........however I can be taught!
at 5/10 is my last word...any clues??? I just can't seem to make anything add up
Any clues for the Ha/8?????
yay!! first time finishing, thanks everyone for your great hints, yay! I love this game -- when there are smarties around to help get my mind running when I'm stalled :)
good clue morgoth:) ty
I want pollywog and polyglot to be in the grid...
bbnaz, it didn't really have anything to do with the score... probably what mixed you up is that in a quick scan of the list, pe 5/12 coming after pe 4/7 and taking up roughly the same amount of space made the 5/12 look like a 4
at5/10 lagoon island
firefly, it's a kind of coral island
ha8, same first 4 letters as other ha's, then add "religion is the _______ of the masses" minus last 2 letters
ha 8 is the ideal place for the hapless.....
haha Hursh you are brilliant. I need to slow down so I am sure tomorrow the grid will be MASSIVE just to do that. Going to run do some banking before picking up my girls. See you all later.
lol, missyem, i like it!
thanks, first time to post hints, too :)
AHA! Finito - used onelook.com (reverse dictionary) based on clues given. Thanks!
well that one is HI-larious
Thanks!!!!!
Well, I'll keep that ha 8 in mind the next time I'm talking to an optometrist...
okay, need to study for tomorrow's Arch. Registration Exam.... shouldn't be toooo bad. See you all on the flip side
When Jesus said "I am the bread of life...," do you think he was thinking about p4/5?
just to make sure no one is misled, however, i must point out that while it was a seriously great clue, it's the U (greek eu) in the word you refer to that makes it ideal, not the ending
Okay, found my missing po4, but according to the stats am stil missing one! Aaaargh! I have: pe4x2, pe5x1. pe6x1 pi4x1, pi5x1 pl4x4 po4x6, po5x1, po6x2 py5x1
pa 5/12, sorry dachef :)
optix is in the grid, but isn't a word...
Olive Oyl is Popeye's goyl
I'm going to follow my usual custom of withdrawing and declaring victory if I can get to half the words...that means I only need 3 more...
ok so 3 of my 5 clients canceled today, so I have nothing to do at all, so I am back, here to help or chat or whatever
anybody want to play a game? Its called Guess Which 3 A's Dachef Is Missing?
yay!!
Olga is in the grid...
you can give us lengths and boxes if you want dachef
I'll play that game
ag 4/8?
at 5/16?
missing 2 from the top, one from the bottom. 1x4, 1x5 and 1x6. I really really really really hate a's....
ap /21?
at 5/10, perhaps?
ap 6/27?
oops my 6 is broken I forgot
how 'bout a clue for the ti6/24 pls/ty
ag 4/6?
got the ap5, but the ap6/27? Hmmm...
i think i got 3 for 3, whaddya say dachef?
ti 6/24 two halves of this word are same except for vowel
pbr I some say I am in Ti**** shape (like I work out all the time and there is nothing wrong with me)
Hurshy wins with 2 points!!!!! Cheers all, that should do it....I think!
Looks like it's monkey typing time for the Dachmeister...
ap 6/27 sounds like bit of book after all the regular chapters
I make a ti* off of a table as a waitress, kids sometimes spin a *** (second part of the word)
this is great, cause i never get to play Guess What Hurshy Is Missing
Thanks, NatLT!
That's me done! Thanks Morgoth47 for the last TO 5/14 clue back at 3:30!
NatLT thanks only 2 more to go -- to's the first 5/14 and one other -- will tackle in a few minutes
What exactly is the ag 4/6, exactly?!?
anybody got any bananas? my monkey says he won't type anymore til I feed him....
awwww, Hurshy, why not? Probably because you complete these things in about 10 minutes flat!!!!
no dachef - it's because i'm hurshy...
dachef, you did know about GWHIM right? or was that an amazing coincidence?
pbr to 5/14 is a weird one, to+ the abbreviation for georgia + 2nd vowel
i have bananas - here you go mamabear

mmmm, bananas, yum, I'll have one with your monkey mama, I got enough to go around *hands out bananas*
You have 0word(s) left to find .... haven't said THAT all week!!! Cuz I haven't played all week!!!!!
po 6/30 is the plural (using a vowel) of the po5 which is a growth you can have in your colon or whatever
po 6/30 is like the 4 above it + 3.14
Congratulations MAMABEAR (I can't do FIREWORKS)
YAY MAMA!!!!!!!!!!!
ppppsttttt.....lynxx..... *mamabear whispers... mashed with gravy!*
nat, how will they ever get it from that... you should have said 3.14159265358979323846
Hurshy - GWHIM? Uh?
mamabear! i try to save people from self-loathing, and this is the kind of cooperation i get! please, everyone, if i ask for clues for words like po 6/21 - don't ever give them to me, and i will be eternally grateful
wow dachef, that is so funny then. read my bio.
evening all guys i havent got long on tonite as im going away tommorow for the weekend n need some sleep,so can u all help me with the ha 7/36,pe 5/12 and the to 5/14 not the house party one
I got the ag 4/6 by exhausting all the possibilities. Have any of you ever used that word?
douglas - not in casual conversation - but i am familiar with its existence
ha 7 add green growing thing but change the vowel
pe 5/12 like really bad criminal but with p instead of f
so mean hurshy ! I have to go to work now with only 5 words left to do (closest ever to finish). PS thanks mambear
Hurshy - ahh, now i see!!! I promise I wasnt plagiarising your idea! LOL :)
to 5/14 stick sometimes vowel btw double cons of prev to4
oh, lynxx, i was trying to be helpful - but i didn't know you had work to go to :( sorry
dachef - no no, it is a great game and i like to play it!!!
I stand amazed at the persistence of those who have finished...I'm going now, but I invite you to stop by Crossword Bebop, and ask the powers that be to anoint Crossword Bebop as a friend of Babble. Bye now...I'm sure we'll meet again before too long.
Crossword Bebop?
Yes, my blog consisting of improvisations based on the New York Times crossword (http://crosswordbebop.blogspo t.com)
okay then, if we're in a plaing mood, my last word is an a4 from the top a. Do you think I can find it, can I b*gger.
either im very thick hurshy or im blind as to what the green growing thing is
my ag 4/8 guess before wasn't it, dachef? sandr - ANY green growing thing
thx hurshy
nope, got the ag one. Somehow.
Hey all, I'm new here...how do you submit your puzzle, once you're done?? Thanks for your help.
then ae 4/4 i bet
you don't have to yesNM, it just is automatically submitted
OK, thanks, hurshy. Will it still be submitted if I turn off computer or get disconnected or go to another site?
OMG, thanks Hurshy - consider me severely chastised with the entire contents of the fishpond, along with a coupla large haddock for good measure!
yes, yes
lol dachef
oh u mean that sort of green growing thing hurshy got it in the end thats me done for the nite,thx again hursh speak to u all nxt week,ttfn :-)
yesNM - all the processing is done by the host computer for the web site and stays there, no matter what you do with your individual computer
bye sandr! :)
And on that note, Im done. See you on the morrow. Good luck all, and thanks for the clues....
Oh, hurshy! I love your motto. I'd steal it if I was that kind of person, and I don't think I am.
hello MAMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's a good motto, mab. feel free. not stealing if it's a gift.
Hi gabby!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gabby dear, did you see where i told you that dr_g's real name is jamie?
night dachef
hiya mama - i loves your icon :))
My cats are royal too. 'Malka' is Hebrew for queen. And Sophie is just Sophie, but she is also a queen, by disposition. Naturally, the two cats loathe each other. I am unhappy about this but have come to simply accept it.
'Night dachef.
mab, did you ever see a t-shirt that said (or just hear it said) "the egyptians worshipped cats as gods. cats have never forgotten this."?
back from my walk :)
I haven't, but it seems quite apt.
you're all stupendous. how many words today?
yes.
67 words
HI all!! Hurshy, have you ever checked out the Two Lumps website -- I've mentioned it before -- it is the adventures of the cats, Ebenezer and Snooch -- absolutely hilarious!!!
hey mab, the other day, were you having trouble with your computer or something? because you posted some things where it seemed like something had got lost in between, or something, and i said you could chat with me on AIM if you wanted, but you disappeared.
i stuck on ap
thank you hurshy. you are appreciated.
Hi GW. twolumps.com?
ap6 - a greek god ap6 - the bit of a book that comes after all the regular chapters
twolumps.net
67 - well that explains it - here i am struggling with 53, wondering if i'm having a really, really off day, but it's just an unusually small grid
((GW)) no, haven't heard you mention it before. but along those lines... atalante is starting to draw some anime style cartoons about her cat (and friends, including one of my cats!)
That is cool, hurshy :)
I think I fell asleep, hurshy. I don't have AIM, only MS messenger. I do think it's much more fun to forgo lists, however I should never finish without them. I'm contemplating letting that be the case. Depending on the list is stunting my growth.
well mab, i can't use MSN bc of our firewall. AIM is a free download, so if you DO want to chat, that'd be the way to go :)
I'll look into it.
Hi folks. Can I get a clue for the ha 8?
i don't think i'm at the point where i could finish without the list if it were not for mutual help with atalante and GWHIM.
ha 8: ha + pl 4/4 + third vowel + first vowel
Just dropped in to see how things are going. I am glad that the grid was so small that I could do other work today. But I miss listening to your chat, evne though I dont say much usually.
Erm, I don't think there is a pl 4/4....
ti6? and the 2nd to5/14?
Try pl 4/6. Sorry about that.
Thanks, inge, have got it now anyway. :)
twould be impossible to have a p4/4
ti6 - at the apex to 5 - stick sometimes vowel betw double cons of prev to4
ti 6 when you are in good health you are in ******shape. A compound word
(((((GW))))))))
Thank you very much :)
You're a classy broad, mab ..
hey tor!!
have to go and dream up something for supper. See you all tomorrow.
I just realized I was a half hour behind in the log ..
The last no 4/4?
And you have changed from your pretty icon.
Heya GW!
I thought it was Red day ..
no 4/4, _____ bene
I haven't been paying attention to the theme much lately, tor -- too busy with the family :)
Ah, thanks hurshy. I couldn't see it because I was looking at the wrong N. Oops.
No, you're perfect, torgone. What prompted the 'classy broad' comment?
probably ingrid, mab
I was responding to your "fa" word comment -
pe 6/12?
Hi All, how's it going?
shoot, hurshy guessed wrong
I meant pe 6/21!
Howdy, everyone!
There we go, one pic of Canis Rufus, the red wolf! :)
nice pic, GW! hey Deutsch...
po6/21 please?
no GW, you don't want that one, trust the hursh
Wasn't my hug big enough , GW (((((((((((((((((GW))))))))))) )))))))
GreyWoulf po6/21 Do you like yours boiled, roasted or chipped?
pe 6/21 sounds a bit like the popular kind of exercise where you don't have to do much but it's supposedly very effective
pe 6 is the ball used in Jai alai
evenin babblers!
Hi chic!
Hi evanadine!
Thanks chic . :)
po 6 smaahed Po****
Hi everyone! Joining in tthe babbling soon!
sigh. well, i try.
Oh yes, I forgot mashed
Hi Hetty!
That was a very reasonable guess, hurshy, given Casablanca, etc. I don't know why I can't say the word - it was just a word one didn't say. My mother didn't like the word 'belly' either. It took me decades to be able to say that one. My upbringing was chilly, and yet bizarrely gothic at the same time. Belly, belly, belly, bel...
I'm reallly not drunk; I just had a big Mocha Moolatte!
((((***Mama***))) -- sorry, busy chatting w/mikey a little as well as keeping Kristianna distracted so I can finish :)
Hi Deutsch, chic.
that's ok,, just givin you a little grief! Tell Mikey I said guten tag!
Hi Deutsch! And good afternoon, Clifford!!!!
mab - we weren't allowed to say "butthead"
mab, hey, I have IM ,too!
Hi mama, Hi Mab!
.... and chi, and frances, and hetty, and ylleria.... and inge
Hi MamaB!
hurshy - sorry about that po clue earlier - I was called away and just saw your post from before - I thought it was lynxxx that was asking for the clue...
Mama -- he's coming to say hi himself :)

Hi boreetos!
eva, po 6/30
A perfectly common word, mama .. Thanks!!!
po 6/30 plural (using vowel) of prev po5
I wasn't allowed to really speak. Maybe that's why I became a writer. I'm able to say much worse that fa -- much worse, and I used to swear like a stevedore. When my friends started having children I tapered off quite a bit.
Hi Mikey!
and remember, tor, you just borrowed the clue... so now give it back!!!! lol
((((((Mikey!!!!!!!)))))))))) How ya doin??????
Hi Mikey.
Okay. Here ya go : ap 6/27 - ap + hoop vowel + put another *** on the fire
Ooh, 5 to go! Mostly po's.
mst3k!!! i loved that show!
lol
thanks.... I'll just take that and tuck it away in my clue box for another day.
apparently im still lacking the PO5...heh
can I get a clue for the at 5/14?
is pagota not a word? oh is it spelled with a d? pagoda? pawgohduh?
Hi all -my promise to myself to babble early has already been broken! V. late start here but have been baking for a cake stall for my daughter tomorrow. I don't want to see flour for a month!
ylleria, the p's are mostly real words and not hard except for that 6/30 isn't so obvious but i just put up a clue for it
yes boreetos, a d
hi snowy! i haven't seen you on here in a while!
puhgohduh
Hi snow, what kind of cake?
Hi Snowy!!!!!!!
lol, mama and boreetos!
Thank you for your help mamabear and hurshy
see what going to art skool gets you? You mispel words like pagoda.
at 5/14 a + mr. danza
I was going to bake peanut butter banana bread to bring in for a food day tomorrow, but decided to make cheese tortellini salad instead.... not that anyone cares really......
po 5 - a growth you might have in your colon
(((((((MAMABEAR))))))) :-D well; so so, you know? :-/ my own fault though, i guess! :-/ *sigh* and how are YOU doing???
Thanks hurshy - 3 to go now :)
hi boreetos -have had an unusually busy few weeks. I haven't babbled so little since I started last October. I have missed the chat and the fun & am hoping to get here a little more often soon!
hi there yourself, mab! :-)
Just passing the time till I can leave work!!!! Are you feeling better?
Hi Mikey!
Hi snowy. Cake, mmmmm......
hi there, Chic! :-D
well welcome back then.
Hurrah! Finished! Thanks everyone, you're all fab! :)
Mikey - you missed my telling of my Easter saga yesterday - how I got dizzy in the bathroom and fell in the tub sideways - pulled the shower curtain down on myself - rod & everything. That was the end of MY Easter...
hey chic! I haven't seen you in a while either!
YEA for ylleria!
Oh dear, Mama!!
who, MAMABEAR.....me? well ja; if it's me you're asking.....as long as i take it easy :-/ which is frustrating, 'cos i want to help get things done in here so we can get it all finished and out the way!!! :-P
Hi MAMA & Deutsch - I made a few good old fashioned Victoria sandwiches and a few choclate. They sell easily. its the mess & washing up I hate -I still can't persuade the husband that a dish washer is an excellent idea!
pa5?
Oh, MamaBear, that's terrible! Poor thing!
Mama, I read about that. Are you olay now?
(okay)
so mamabear, I'm guessing when you came to you had a vision of the flux capacitor and now you're in the process of starting the customization of your 82 delorean? Noverber fifth, nineteen fifty five!
oh MAMABEAR; why didn't you TELL me about this when you emailed me today, hmm??? :-( my god; are you all right???
a little help on the lonely rightmost t word? please?!?!
inevitable, boreetos *nods sagely*
th4, scottish word
I'm ok.... just spent the rest of the day in bed and no Easter dinner for me! Everyone else went to the MIL's house.
thanks hurshy!!
pa5, please --- Kristianna wants me to go play and it's my last one :)
boreetos - ummm.... yeah was a little starry eyed for a while - but didn't zonk out. Good thing because I found out later that "someone" heard noise in the bathroom but didn't bother to come see if anything was wrong.... long story.
GW, alt spelling of that praise word with all the vowels
pa = p + ae 4/4 - go have fun!
Did anyone get video of that, mama? Classic family togoetherness reaction. (not to make light of the incident - you could have been seriously injured. I just am getting a visual)
thank you hurshy!! done!!
boreetos - that's just spooky - the date that you picked........
so...no flux capacitor? hmmmm. well, glad you're ok.
remember remember, the fifth of november...
Yes mab, I was stuck sideways, legs hanging out with the shower curtain & rod ... oh and a few shirts I had hanging in there to dry ..... on top of me......
Ok, now I must go -- I will see you all later or tomorrow or whenever :) (*Hugs*) to all!!!
aw; i'm so sorry i didn't see your 'hi' there, Deutsch.....a big 'hello' and (((((hugs))))) to you!!! :-)
bye GW!
not the date so much as the year....
thanks for the hugs, Mikey (((Mikey)))
what happened in 1955?
heck... I see flux capacitators on normal days!
my dad was born
bye, GW, have fun!
what; the rest of the day in bed, MAMABEAR.....you were hurt that badly??? :-(
how is pogo not a word? I had a pogoball when I was a kid, and it said POGO on it. pogo is a word.
night GW
i think Babble treats 'pogo' like a proper name, boreetos :-/
my parents both turned 5 in 55. and the best Chevrolet ever was released that year.
ja; gut'nacht, 'GW'.....if you're still here?
Mikey - along with the heel pain I've been having, and the fibromyalgia, and stuff - I twisted my back and bruised my right side..... I was very tired to begin with and it pushed me over the edge! so to speak.
bye GW (((hugs)))
Bye GW!!!!! *waves*
oh, MAMABEAR; sounds like you've done yourself in much worse than i have here.....much worse than i've done myself in, that is :-/ you'd better be much more careful in future, or you'll hear about it from me, you hear? ;-)
at 5/16 clue please.
sure hope you're feeling a lot better now, MAMABEAR? :-/
You tell her, Mikey!
Yes, dear!!!!! I'm ok now,, just a pretty shade of blue in places!
mamab, are you having plantar fascietis in your heel?
and no need to thank me, Deutsch.....i love giving (((((hugs))))) to my buddies! :-)
If I had heard you fall, I'd have come running!
how about that bottom ti word?
Mikey, what happened to you? Are you injured too?
at 5/16 like at 5/14 except 4th letter
ja; i think i just did, Deutsch! ;-)
it's not on the bottom, boreetos, it's at the apex!
Yes, chic, that is what the doc says it might be. Awful thing. I go back Saturday to see about the Xrays. Either the Faciitis thing or bone spur. He better figure something out so I can wear sandles!!!! How can I wear sandles with this foamy cushion thing he gave me to put in my shoes???? grrrrrrrr
Mikey, good for you!
well, in a manner of speaking, mab; but done quite on purpose, by a surgeon.....still healing from an operation i had this past winter, which will take a little more time yet; but not to worry, i'm ok.....as long as i learn my limits! :-/
hurshy, I reinstate my former statement about your silliness, and commend a fabulous clue.
Take extra care now MAMA as I think the shock can be as bad as the fall sometimes. I fell off a chair last summer ( I WAS sober) & felt really jolted for a few days. Thing is we forget how to fall when we grow up! It's not half so bad when you are young & doing it all the time.
*grin*
ja really, MAMABEAR; and summer's just too hot not to wear sandals :-/
hey mama - there are many brands of shoes with arch supports that make sandals too - mostly very expensive, but very comfortable - finn comfort from germany is an excellent brand
ok that does it for me! No I'm not finished, but I have to go back to work, See you all tomorrow!! uber-rare Friday babbling for Boreetos!!!
ty hurshy
Thanks Deutsch! Most people would.... wish I was married to one.
bye boreetos!
Mama, had that It's awful you can't wear flat shoes you have to have at least a one inch wedge. For the pain there are some exercises to stretch the hell and the best thing is get a 16 oz. bottle of water and freeze it and roll your foot over the top.. I had wear this huge boot for a month ugh!
bye boreetos
ja, snowyowl; it is a shock when you fall and aren't expecting it.....i did that a couple weeks ago, when i tripped up on a rug in here; and that was *not* a good thing for me at the moment, either :-/ for someone supposedly so 'graceful', i can sure be a klutz in here sometimes! :-P
snowy - it was a good thing I have a shower curtain and not a door - it really lessened the impact I think.
what, MAMABEAR; he didn't even come running to help you??? :-(
When my blood pressure falls to low, I pass out. I'm told I drop to my knees, then fall on my face.
Just one to get, it being the second TO 5, 14 Any clues?
chic - in the last couple weeks, it's amazing how many people heard of it or have it themselves!!! A couple women I know had cortizone injections and that helped them alot. Maybe he will do that.
Bye Boreetos. I think toe pads are very very attractive, Mama. Just paint your toenails and wear your sandals proudly!
yikes, Deutsch.....that's scary :-(
Yes I felt really stupid as all the family were here. The littlies all panicked and I had to pretend it was really funny so they wouldn't get upset! I just wanted to sit on the floor & cry my eyes out!
no, Mikey. I thought he didn't hear anything, so I called to my son and he came. But then later I was talking to my daughter in North Dakota - she was on the phone with him at the time - and she said he heard something and waited but then didn't hear anymore so he didn't go see, even after she said maybe he should.
Yeah, I bought Finn's over $200 and had the insert made over $300. I don't wear them any more 'cuz they suck.. Propet makes a decent orthtic sandal for about $70 try onlineshoes. com
to 5/14 insert sometime vowel between last two
oh man; that's bad, MAMABEAR :-(
Yeah, it's a little inconvenient to say the least. But I usually feel it coming on and can sit down again. But it is comical to watch, I've heard LOL!
(sorry) of the to 4/4 before
That's awful, Deutsch!!!!! I hope that doesn't happen often to you.
Helloooooo......anyone need some clues? Or are you all finished?
pe 4/7 anyone?
hi jaianniah
im at 55 words lol
well, i wouldn't be laughing, Deutsch; you might want to get that seen to, or have you? i had started having some very disconcerting 'spells' before having this mitral valve repair, and it's no fun; especially as you never know when these things are going to come on and affect you! :-/
Hi jainnaiah.....pretty flower!
right chic - there are LOTS of options, but i think that spending $$ to have an orthotic put into a finn is a huge waste, esp since they already come with really good arch support - why would you do that?
Not as much, mamabear. I just can't sit in one place for too long.
only a dozen to go, carra!!!!!
Hi Jai!
Deutsch - a nasty side effect of Babbling!!!!
leighclaret did you get it?
wow, Deutsch; yet you 'Babble' ??? :-o
Hi, snowy- pe 4/7 has an ending that some college students would nickname the study of farming
ah; but probably doesn't take you anywhere near as long to complete the grids as it takes me, of course :-/ i think i'm the slowest here!
anybody do sudoku today?
yuck Deutsch -I have never passed out -but that situation would leave me wantin to be somewhere with soft landings! My next door neighbour had a stroke 6 years ago when she was 36 - she has made quite a good recovery but is still unsteady on her feet -I am her soft thing to fall on!
I think you caught on very quickly, Mikey!
Help! -- missing two o words one from the top and one from the 3rd row -- I have: o 4/4 x2 o 4/6
You know, MamaB- I cannot solve even the easiest sudoku and I don't know why.......
I'm sorry, Mama, but that makes me so mad. What a blockhead someone under your roof is.
ty jaianniah for the pe 4/
Jeffer Thanks for the clue. Got it! Hooray! Pe 4, 7 pe** A pod veg with a * string
no; i'm still *way* too slow at this, compared to everyone else, MAMABEAR :-/
two more 4/6's cnan
jainnaiah - do you utilize the little green numbers to insert possibles?
what is a 'sudoku'? :-/
mab - yes, one very large blockhead
I did it for more cush and Dr said they would be made to my foot and they were. It did get rid of the heel condition and I don't have it any more just can't were totally flat shoes anymore...Most orthotics don't even come in my size. so I find shoes with good cushion and good fit. Can't wear a shoe shoe have to wear sandals all year. Good thing I live in warm country. ( I have an arthritic toe that won't let me..)
Mikey - see on the right the "Iron Sudoku" link? It is a numbers game... shall I introduce you to that too???
leighclaret - i had just got a clue for that your clue veeery good! ty
Mikey, if I sit here too long, I'll feel dizzy. If you don't hear from me on chat, I'm usually walking around a bit
ol4/4 is a sort of margarine, and the other 4/4 is a variation of that word- change vowels
chic - I can wear normal shoes so far. I only just started pursuing this whole thing. I kind of hope he does the cortisone shot -
hurshy - are you still here? Did you sudoku today? If so, how is it?
Thanks, Hurshy
sudoku eeeeezy today
c-nan, top row op 4/6 popular day time hostess take out the 'r'
hmmm, shall i redo the talk show hostess bit?
Thanks for all you concerns, everyone! (((ALL))) See you tomorrow!
eeeeeezy? cool! So little grid is done. If I do the eeeezy sudoku ... whatever will I do with the rest of the evening? Might have to rummage up a game of Literati with someone!
Take care, Deutsch!!!!!! sleep well and sweet dreams!
Please help! I have but ONE lowly word left, and my brain is fried. pe 6/21 ty in advance, and pass the fish
Sorry- misread question...og4/6 is to eye someone on4/6 you are the on** one op4 is Oprah minus a letter
Mama, yes cortisone is good it's what I get in My big toe twice a year...and recently got in my back and hip for advanced arthritis. I'm like ten years younger and no pain!
pe + lo 4/4
pe 6/21 is the ball in jai alai, sounds a bit like the popular kind of exercises where you don't move much but it's supposed to work anyway
I think that falls and surgeries are profound shocks to the body and spirit. It takes a good amount of time for many people to fully recover. Mama, Mikey, snowy -- take care and be kind to yourselves.
bye Deutsch
I'll play with you Mama!
pe+ a word that means "much" + the first vowel- obscure word, no fish....good luck and congrats!!!!
chic - I have had 2 cervical discs replaced and last year had steroid injections in lower back.... Still have pain, but not like what it was.
OK, chic!!!! I just heard from my daughter that her computer is acting up, so if I don't show up, that's why, otherwise I will IM you later!
ahh chic, is see - glad you are healed, too bad about the toe - i just asked cause i used to work in a store called 'foot solutions', my friend (idiot, lol ) bought a franchise so i know way too much about this stuff -it's a really good thing you live where you do! most not that fortunate
from the first l I have lo 4/5, 4/6 and 4/4 -- what am I missing please?
I got it! No fish for me; I never would have figured that out on my own, never having played jai lai in my life...*does happy dance* 1st grid I ever completed!
to 5/14
nevermind -- just found it!
helen - this whole thing started by my saying I have heel pain - possibly Plantar Faciitis
carra - to + consonant + sometimes vowel + same consonant
the to is the Roman outfit with a Latinate ending
yep i remember mama - what chic said is most important - the stretching, either with frozen can or boot - but most imp is doing it first thing in the am, otherwise you just keep re-ripping the original tear - gentle stretches
I love my ortho guy; he never said the dreaded "S" (surgery) word to me because that is not an option..
lol - 's' - the very, very, very last resort, cause not always successful - met way too many people with that sad story
that's what I've been doing, helen - not the frozen bottle thing - but alot of the stretching, like you say, especially in the a.m. It seems to be better the last couple days.
i have the roman outfit :)
missing an a from the 2nd row -- have ae 4, ag 4 & 5, ap 6/27 & 6/18 -- missing?
chic - I didn't have a choice on the cervical surgery - I was losing use of my right arm. I have had lower back pain for over 19 years though, will hold off as long as possible for surgery there - hopefully never!
great!!! it will take time to heal, be patient & be diligent
carra - lo + consonant + sometimes vowel + same consonant
oh i hae that to with the smetimes y vowel lol
the cold is good for the inflammation, that's why frozen & not just any old can of beans, :)
I would try using a nice cold can of beer - but it would probably never make it down to my foot!
to+ a chemical ending with the why vowel in the middle
to 5/14 - to + as you leave the backyard, please close the g*** so the dogs don't get out. (Minus the t)
(yoga, Mama. take a yoga class. it will help you more than regualar stretching. honestly, it's fabulous. Yoga, Mama, yoga yoga yoga oga oga ga g g) This has been a public service subliminal message.
I had this special injection they do with this xray machine that shows real time. It was a miracle for me. I was in such agony before sitting, standing walking...
LOL - hey, mama, never got to finish the archer puppy conversation with you - what kind of pup did you get?
and also a word in the grid, mab!!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL thanks .... I just have to find time somehow to pursue that.
thanks mamabear :)
chic - sounds like what I had - transcaudal steroid injection was what they called it. Not fun to go through, but they did help.
ag 4/8, cnan
oh yes, Mab; absolutely.....always done yoga as part of my daily dance workouts :-) of course, we do a *lot* of intensive stretching in ballet, too.....and pilates type exercises, which are also very beneficial!
ugly with a vowel change lol :)
helen - a cute little white puppy (supposed to be terrier mix) with black spots on her ears. They said she should reach 15 to 20 pounds full grown. WELL.... by the time she was 4 months old she weighed 60 pounds. I think she was great pyrannese (mixed with dalmation maybe) what a nitemare!
oops, second time today. Really, Mama, if you can take a few classes to learn to do some of the postitions properly, you can then do them on your own. It can have a near miraculous effect.
Thanks, Hurshy
mine was a breeze barely took 5 min. not scary at all( well after the first tme) I just don't how long it will last.. I'm going to go do physical therapy as soon as we get our new Med. Ins.
ag 4/8 bears a strong resemblence to a word that starts with "u" and means icky looking
ap 6/27
and yes, Mab; they sure are.....but don't worry, i am being careful.....i just don't realize how careful i still have to be sometimes, 'cos it's been a little while now, and i think i should be fine.....i feel fine, then i overdo things, and owwwww :-/
I think I might have designed a few new positions when I was in the tub!!! The pretzel twist!
chic - mine must have been much different - took about 45 minutes each. Used a local anesthetic, which was not effective.... was very painful.
aw; MAMABEAR.....i hate hearing about you being injured :-( be careful in future.....or you'll have *me* to answer to!!! :-/ lol; although i guess you could be giving me 'heck' too, hmm? :-P and nobody wants to play 'Twister' with me! lol
When you are sorry, you ap*******- or make an ap*****-spell it until you have enough letters
who says I don't, Mikey!!! *wink*
wow; the local anaesthetic wasn't effective, MAMABEAR? sure was for me, when i had a fragment of dislodged cartilage removed from my right knee! it was weird, not being able to feel anything as they worked on it, even though i was wide awake!
lol; well you don't, MAMABEAR.....after all, think how i can move? :-P
missing an h.... I have: ha8, ha5/18 and ho 4/6 --- missing?
ja; it sure can, Mab.....yoga is *very* beneficial! :-)
It worked a little, MIkey, but they go in with a needle and have the area up on Xray at the same time so they can guide it to where they want to inject the steroid around the base of the spine. All the area wasn't numbed enough.
I AM thinking about that Mikey!!!!!!!! *wink wink*
owwwww, MAMABEAR; that sounds nasty!!! :-(
ha 7 - ha plus green growing thing but change vowel
nan, ha 7/36, sim. to 8 2 con. ending
uhm; ok, MAMABEAR.....wondering if we're 'on the same page' here? :-P lol
ho 4/6 - have ho** , you will find it!!! There is always ho** you will find all the words before the flip!
you are missing an ha that is obscure 7/36 has an ending that resembles a growing green thing with a different vowel
same page, different books, Mikey!
love your new avatar btw, MAMABEAR; that's just so.....you!!! ;-) hehe; and i don't even know what you look like yet :-/ so; i just picture you as a furry bear! :-P
it was nassty - ho 4/6 I don't have to have any more!!!
ja; well.....that could very well be, MAMABEAR! :-P
Well, it's time for me to leave work now...... have a good evening everyone!!!!
aw; well hop online when you get home, MAMABEAR! :-)
Thank you hurshy and chic.
bye MAMA!
I will try Mikey ... I heard my daughter's computer is acting up, so we'll see what the story is when I get home. If I can, I'll give you a buzz!!
cybernan- did I help at alllll??????
mama - sorry had to go tend to something & scrolled back just now - do you still have your little monster?
little monster?
your pup!
OH!!!! I forgot what we were talking about!!! No, we had her for about 9 months and I found out I was pregnant - there was no way I could have a new baby with a dog like that. She was very wild - always running and jumping, couldn't keep her contained in the yard - she jumped over the fence.
Missing.... a t from the first one in the 4th row-- have: ta 4, to 4/4 x2, to 4/6 x 2, to4/5, to 5/14 x2
Thanks, jaianniah -- saw the other clues first, so missed yours -- sorry!
change last letter of ta4 cnan
gotta run........ whooooooosssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh
bye mamabear
awww, that's a shame - i don't remember when our friend bought the place -sometime between 5 & 10 years ago, last time i was there they had mostly all purebreds
bye mama - have a great evening, feel better!
sorry Hurshy -- have both ta 4/9's -- still missing one!
do you know the pe6 word?
change last letter of to4 (drink to excess)
pe 6 word pe+ word for much + the crossed letter+ the first vowel
what's the word for much? ^^"
got it..
the word for much is also the word that completes the phrase vacant *** (and there are not two t's in the pe word)
All grey!!! Thanks Hurshy -- of course it was the very last one possible, I think!
what about the last no4 word.. that's the only word i need and i'm finished with this puzzle.. yeay for me!! :D

(there are 4 NO4 words)
i got the no no4 word too.. the last one i dont have
Hullo there Hursh; I can't make your pe word work (the addition of the "more" word , crossed letter and first vowel yield a term that is pronounced not valid) Am I missing something?
yeay!!! im finished with this puzzle!!! will be back later for the new one.. see guys!! and thanks for all the help
"the first NO4, the angels did say..."
hetty - it wasn't my clue - but i did mention there is only ONE t in the word, not two, to correct any misimpressions people might have had from the original clue :)
PE + much + 1st vowel
as evanadine says, so shalt thou do :)
so say you one, so say you all. ;)
Finished!!!!!!!!! Thankyou for your company & great clues -must get off to bed now as 5 littlies tomorrow ( all on Easter break, 2 of which have swimming & ballet lessons to go to! ) * makes note to self to brush up on contraceptive talks in next life*
i'm heading out too, night all
Sorry, Hursh, and thanks, Jaiannia, for original clue.Still can't make the info work for me, so more head bashing is called for.
Edanadine! Thanks! Head bashing over--for now
hetty use your pl4/5 meaning to scheme. Insert the 2nd vowel between the p& the l and add the 1st vowel to the end of the word
oops too late! The story of my life! Goodnight all -sweet dreams when its your time to sleep x
And thanks to you too, Snowy Owl. How helpful you all are. Makes me cry tears of gratitude.

pa 5/12 please anyone?
hello
Hi harpjane. I just finished.
zero, pa plus a loooong time
paa...?
zero, not a long time ago....but a really long time...like I've been waiting **** 2 vowels a consonant and a plural
Hi. I've just finished, too.
WTG, jacula!!!!
Thanks, gramma. Are you done, too?
YES, I am!
I see 21st April's theme is 'gothic' + it's MusicMom's birthday. It's also our Queen's birthday; her 80th. April 22nd has been themed 'Earth Day'. It's also my birthday.:-)
Well done, Gramma.
TY, Jac.
any more clues for pa5/12?
pa5/12 - a foot of one long syllable and three short syllables occurring in any order.
zero, I'll try again. pa plus a sign in a tavern window, that lets off a gloww at night, contains a gas n***. drop the N add it to your pa and make it plural.
zero, sorry. It's not plural.
Zero - Don't know if you're a gardener,but try this for pa5/12... think of a plant widely cultivated for its showy single or double red or pink, or white, flowers then remove the 'sometimes vowel' from the end.
If you dropped the p, you'd have the first word in the title of an old MTV animated short which just had a movie version starring Charlize Theron.
pa+second vowel+4th vowel+last letter
thanks i got it. :)
WOOOHOOO, zero.
Zero - good! :-) You can't say you were short of helpers. LOL.
pe5/12, pe6/21 please
pe 5 think of a fruit and change the first letter
pe 5 is like your py but change the y
honeydew or water m*****
pe5 - pe+ half of the UK capital. pe6 - Jai alai or the ball used to play it.
pe 6 = pe + parking _ _ _ + vowel
PE6 pe plus a globular water bottle.
thanks i got both. very sweet.
y/w, Zero. We enjoy the team effort, don't we folks?
po5, po6, po4/7
po4/7 - My little ____
thanks remy. lol
there are two po 6...one is a veggie the other is a letter added to the previous po 5
zero, I was gone getting a cocktail. Did you get it?
the po 5 is a letter added to the previous po 4
hi all..could i get a little advice... upgraded to pro..now how do i make the most of it???
po6/30 - pl. of the po5 before it. Growths often found in the bowel or nose. po6/21 - a vegetable you can eat boiled, fried, roasted, mashed. A po6/21 famine once occurred in Ireland.
i got the veggie
blueskies29, have you tried the Flip To Stats button yet?
Hi blueskies. Well, first off you can tick the 'gender' box so your handbag is either blue or pink. Then you can upload an avatar/icon. You can also check out the stats.
blueskies, it's been so long, I'm trying to remember. Ahhh yes..the grid! check it out.
gramma the second to4,6 pls?
Blueskies - you can also write yourself a profile as big or as small as you want.
wow you guys are good. i can only find 12 words and they are all 4 letters, except the vegetable
po5/18, po6/30. 7 to go and i'm done
Hi Lady S. We've been Babbling for a long time. It does get easier, honestly!
i'm at 49 and stumped
Nike, Remy just gave a clue for po**. My little ****. Same applies for the to**
Zero - po5/18 is a tubular, usually benign growth that occurs in the bladder, bowels and nostrils. The nostril ones can make you snore. If you have po4/7 add the sometimes vowel to the end for the 5.
po6/30 is po5/18 + 3rd vowel.
Lady S, I'm not the coldest beer in the fridge ( if you know what I mean ) and even I can do it. It will get easier. I promise.
ty. k i got my handbag (a stylin' little thing!) and i'll get an icon later when i can use my own pics. i flipped to stats but how do i use them? i see you know po6, etc..? what does this mean??
Mamabook - Please don't mention '49'. That's how old I'll be on Saturday.:(
Jacula, Happy, happy day! a little early; but, better than late, right?
thanks gramma, got it. How about the 2nd to5,14?
jacula i dont have po5/18 also i cant relate it to po6/30
Nike, use the word before it and insert the sometimes vowel between the double letters at the end.
Blueskies - po6/21, for instance, means the first 2 letters of the word as 'po', it is 6 letters long and it scores 21 points. Lots more is explained in 'Angelsong's Babble Page'. (Click on the link you will see towards the bottom of the list you will see on the right of your screen under 'Friends of Babble'.
Gramma. Thanks!:-)
cool gramma, thanks.
Jacula, you're just a young'un. Enjoy!!!
Nike, no problem...your welcome. ^_^
LOL, Gramma.
Zero - If you have the po4/7 before the po5 & 6 you seek, just add the sometimes vowel to the end of it for the po5.
good evening all. How's the grid going?
beazus, never better. Done. Just hanging out to help.
thanx gramma!!
Hi Beazus. Well, me and Gramma have finished and we're helping Zero & Nike to do the same, hopefully.
I'm finished too, just checking in. I was glad to see that the grid wasn't TOO taxing today :)
beazus, it was a sweet little one today...not too many sticklers.
~sigh~ i can't wait for the day i can say that!! ;)
ti6/24
ti6/24 - to run a marathon you have to be in ti6/24 condition.
zero, ti used to be a brand name white bread.
Soon, it'll be Blueskies for you - I'm sure!
within range of finishing for the first time in a week. Any clues for at5, 14 and at 5,16? Many thanks!
gramma, can you help me with ol?
Nike, it's not butter.
Nike, it's the cheaper spread.
at5/14 - A lack of normal muscle tone. at5/16 - A hereditary disorder marked by the tendency to develop immediate allergic reactions to substances such as pollen, food, dander, and insect venoms and manifested by hay fever, asthma, or similar allergic conditions.
mklein - the two words are the same except for the 4th letter.
to4/4 the 2nd one.
Nike, at a bullfight the crowd yells ***! Put a vowel on the end.
Nike - 2nd to4/4 - What you may have to pay to use a road or a bridge. Time takes its to4/4 also!
got it gramma, the other ol?
Sorry! My 'to' clue was for Zero not Nike.
zero, I feel a need to mention, it would be nice to hear " I got it" or a "thank you" something other than request after request. I'm not trying to be bit***, I'm just trying to point out a little social skills help.
ty Jacula
yes i do know, but i can't get it so skip and go to other clues
ol4/4 - bullfighter & crowd's cry + 1st vowel. ol4/4 - ditto + 4th vowel.
Nike, different vowel ending
thanks gramma, got it.
YW
ap6,27 anyone?
Zero - to4/4 = to + double consonant.
mklein - you got 'em then? :-)
im sorry jacula i have that to4/4 didnt know it was the second one. how about the first to4/4
mklien, ap...please accept my ap*****. I'm sorry I forgot to add the Y at the end.
thanx for all the help tonight...i need to take a break and go read angelsong's page i think!! i'm sure i'll be back asking for help tomorrow!! thanx again! (gramma..are you here tomorrow too? lol)
mklein - I'm sorry that you're having trouble finding the ap 6/27..... so take that phrase, sum it up, and lop off the last vowel
ap6/27 - you might say sorry to someone by giving them an ap*****. Knock off the last letter (the sometimes vowel) for the word you seek.
goodnight Blueskies!
blueskies, I'm usually lurking on and off during the day. See you on the flip.
'Bye Blueskies. Nice meeting you. 'See' you again soon.
Are there any clues for the 2nd to5/14?
night all! see you tomorrow!
BRB
1st to4/4 (sounds like the second) - A lacquered or enameled metalware, usually gilded and elaborately painted. Failing that, try t + the bullfighter & crowd's cry.
Sure did - Many thanks. Down to 11 needed now. Just got that ap. how could I have missed it? ty again.
BGL - it's similiar to the last to 4/4, but you have to cleverly add the sometimes vowel!
jacula, can you give me a clue to ti6 and ny5. Thanks
BGL - I know this one because my trucker o/h used to deliver it to power stations. It's an oil derived from trees. The group C7H7, derived from toluene. Also called cresyl.
thanks for to4/4 jacula i got it.
Thanks beazus! Down to two ...
welcome!
ti6/24 - a compound word - ti* (the end of, or like filtered cigarettes have on them) + t** (the apex of).
I'm back. The later it gets..the faster they go down.
what's your pleasure tonight gramma?
ny5/14 - synthetic material. The old cryptic crossword clue for this used to read, 'synthetic material found in many London streets'.
Okay, the last two have me completely stumped! at5/16 and pa5/12... any help would be greatly appreciated!
I'm a fan of the bourban. My parents also drank it. My siblings and my children refer to it as Mommy breath.
Mommy breath? Ooh, Gramma! I'm not sure if that's good or bad.8-)
thank you i got the ti. 2 to go to5/14 and to4/5
pa5/12 word from greek poetry, ends with a word that means a very looong time.
Jacula, it's Great!
BGL - look at 4/5 and then say yeaY!
to5/14 could be either plural Roman garment or the tree oil I just mentioned below.
jacula it's quite hard...ti and ny. huhuhu
gramma, I'm a huge fan!
no4,4 - the last one?
to4/5 - to drink, perhaps excessively. to4/5 - a type of pith helmet.
YEAH! I'M FINISHED! Now I can sleep soundly tonight knowing that no words went unfound. :-) Thank you for your clues for the last few!
I'ma gonna writea a little no**. A short letter.
no4/4 no** bene (Latin phrase)
great job BGL!
*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR BGL*~*~*~*
thanks i got the to4/5. now for the last word to5/14
Wonderful BGL!
beazus, God bless you ....You could be my sibling or child. I do have one rebel in the family. 8( He drinks scotch; much to my chagrin.
Zero - Is it the tree oil word you can't find? If so, try Googling the chemical formula I gave earlier.
Sounds like a well-groomed family, even with the scotch rebel! Count me IN!!! LOL!
hah... still can't get that synthetic material.. the ny
nike - think of a kind of rope, or cord.
Nike, not silk stockings but ny...
WTG, BGL. Nice work. You won't sleep well tho....there's another grid waiting for you.....Haaahaaaahaaahaaaa! ( said with an evil grin)
Nike - read that cryptic crossword clue I gave for 'ny'. The word is in the sentence.
Mklein - I have a feeling your clue is the one that will work!
thanks Jacula. im done :D
((((jacs)))) i was just thinking about you earlier today!
thanks mklein and beazus. last 3 words. help me with op, pa and ti. please..
zero, congrats! Hi there Towl ^_^
Wow, finished - thanks everyone for the hints, that's my first complete. :)
nike: pa5 is a type of poem
I seem to have trouble with p's. I need the first two pe, and the last pi
congrats, remy!
thanks for all the help guys
YAHOO, Remy! WTG!!!!!

first pe sounds like a pig. am i right?
WTG Zero and Remy!
Hi Temple! Sorry for delay - I was off on another site.
*~*~*~*FIREWORKS FOR REMY*~*~*~* & *~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR ZERO*~*~*~*
G'night all. Must get some rest before the new grid comes up.
Nike, op 4/6 is phonetically said like willy wonka's little men, only without the 'm' and the last letter is a H.
'Night, Gramma.x
woohoo! ill try to give hints for those who need
GO REMY!!! Yeah-huh. Yeah-huh. Yeah-huh.
goodnight, gramma!
g'nite gramma!!
GO ZERO!
hi stidmatt!
'Sup 72 and y'all others?!
nike- op 4/6 is said at a greek weddings (that might be an easier clue...)
Now, that was bad, bad, bad grammer.
got it beazus, thanks. last two. ti and pa... and i'm done.. help pls.
just chillin', matt - how are you doing with this grid?
Just started half an hour ago and am at half of 90.
No, that's wrong. A fifth of 90.
at last...got the pa already. last one beazus... the ti word... help pls.. thanks
Stidmatt - It was, and I hate to say this, but it's 'grammAr'.:-/
lol - go matt! speaking of which, i must go, too. goodnight babblers!
ti word = 2 words joined together
nike - the 'pa' is just like the pe 4/5.....morph the two and think servile underling!
Nike, you're almost at very pinacle, or ti**** of the scores once this word is done!
'Night Temple. Matt - I hope you know I was kidding in my last post to you? Not being able to see facial expressions and body language can sometimes cause misunderstandings in typed conversations.
thanks beazus... I'm done at last. I can rest now.. Thanks to all... first time to complete the puzzle.. Cheers!
Great job Nike! ~~~~~~NIKE~~~~~~~
Yeah-hoo Nike! Congrats! and YW!
*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR NIKE*~*~*~
Jacula -- Matthew has gone to have dinner, he says he understood. :-)
YAY Nike!
Stidmama - Hiya! That's okay then. What's for dinner there tonight?
hi all -- finished this morning. glad it was a manageable grid for a change! i'm just chilling for a while, in between other things.
(We had mushroom & bacon tagliatelli followed by pineapple & kiwi cheesecake.)
Today I was lazy, and picked up some Sushi on the way home from shopping. :-)
Jac -- I'm coming to live at your house! the food sounds way better. :-)
Stidmama - my daughter loves sushi, never fancied it myself.
Found that one zero - thanks.
hi all. new to babble - what does the "2 letter counts" on the lickety page mean?
Just got home late from a meeting and am playing catch up. Does any kind soul have a clue for the ap6/27?
Stidmama - LOL. Well, many of my recipes are posted in BabAnon. Not the two I just mentioned though. I only invented the cheesecake one yesterday.
saintfranny -- the "2 letter counts" on Lickety's page tell how many words start with both the letters (instead of just a list of how many a-words or t-words) so you can narrow down your search a little quicker
I have seen a few of your recipes... will have to actually try some of them! I like to cook, but don't often have the energy.
Hello & welcome (as David Frost used to say) SaintFranny. (An animal lover, I presume?) The 2nd letter count shows you what 2 letters a word begins with, how long the word is and how many points it's worth.
Eva - saying your sorry without the last letter.
ap 6/27: ap + vowel + fallen tree
Thanks MAH-I kept trying the one with the y and not getting anywhere.
Hi Eva & Merp. That 'ap' is a daft word!
and stidmama(-:
Hi and mrrrrp to Jacula.
yw :-)
Eva - I've been meaning to ask... is your cat called Merp because he makes that sound?
Ah! I think you just answered that, Eva. LOL.
thanks all. yes jacula - def. animal lover. have 3 dogs and 3 cats. :) the pic is of my big guy, Max, who we lost last summer. still love seeing his beautiful face.
Yeah, he looks really nice. I think he is either a Lab or a German Shepard.
Sorry for being so nerdy.
SaintFranny - Me too, an animal lover I mean. I still miss my old dog,too. Presently am owned by 2 cats (one sweet [unless you try to bath her] and the other a right sod), 5 guinea pigs and 4 rabbits. It used to be 18 rabbits, 7 guinea pigs, 21 mice, 18 hamsters, 1 gerbil and 2 goldfish.
stidmatt - are you talking to me? :) Max was actually a Kerry Beagle. not common in the US. color of a beagle, size of a lab.
nerdy?!? no child of mine is "nerdy" -- geekly perhaps, or overly intellectual -- or in your worst moments not very bright... but "nerdy?" HA HA (i think not!)
I'm also stumped by the at5/16!
omg jacula. you've got me beat! tho, lately, i'd almost count my garden as another pet - have been spending so much time and loving affection on it. :)
Nerdy? What are you on about, Matt?
at 5/16: add the sometimes vowel to the previous at 4...
I think I just about am going to do what the animator did when he was drawing the big ugly, green, greusome monster (no, not the bunny).
let's hear it for the people who love their flowers as much as their dogs that trample them! *thunderous applause*
Jacula-does the diminishment in your rodent population have any connection to the cats?
SaintFranny - love gardening, too? A soul after my own heart. Are you Taurean by any chance? I was going to say that we have a pet's graveyard in the orchard end of the garden and I have a statue of St. Francis overlooking it. Also, Frances, is my middle name.
god-i was completely caught in a rut of going to the right with that a word-couldn't see how to get to the sometimes vowel. Blindness.
Eva - Noooooooo! The cats arrived AFTER the mice, hamsters and the gerbil, and the fish, had lived their full life spans.
The cats also arrived after the dog had lived out his 18-year span. He'd never have stood for them!
ok, omg jacula. actually, am a piscean. coming to gardening per se, late in the game. have had indoor plants forever, but the last two years we've been putting in a proper garden. and - my nickname is saintfranny because one of my friends calls me that for my love of animals - i e st. francis. we also have a statue of him in our garden too. :)
going to see what I need to do for tomorrow's icon... BRB
need 9 more :)
Jacula - what part of GB do you live in?
MAH - In Worcestershire.
ok you people who have Finished the game or are close are Pissing me off! ;) seriously, this game is making me feel So stupid! i have gone from feeling reasonably smart with a double major bachelor's degree to a complete ninny.
and my majors were english and journalism no less!
SF- That's depressing.
lol stidmatt. what do you mean?
Jacula - Have visited your area several times. I used to live in Godalming (near Guildford) in Surrey. Anybody out there live in Surrey?
SaintFranny - where do you hail from? You have no flag or 'handbag', or profile.
MAH - Then you will know how lovely our countryside is.
I dunno, just that you have done all that studying, people are zooming right past you, and you have a lot to go.
at 5/14 ?
do you have a Flaaag? (sorry, made me think of eddie izzard). oh, guess i need to fix my profile. i'm in rhode island in the US. i 'hail from' indiana, but have lived in RI for 6 yrs. was actually supposed to come visit the UK this summer, but we've had to postpone the trip. bummer.
Saintfranny - welcome to the club - I'm a librarian and word lover - this is only the third game I thought I could finish - Just three to go.
at5/14 - lack of normal muscle tone. Or try just one of Cleopatra's lover.
oh well matt. it's still fun. have been coming here for about a week. heard about it from marcellas from the US Big Brother. i luv him. does he ever chat on this board?
Carra - at 5/14 - at + proposition + the sometimes vowel. Last four letters is a boys' name.
StFran - no idea! I've never watched US Big Bro. I no longer watch the UK one either. The first 4 were good, after that it all became too set-up and cynical.
Down to 2 - pe5,12 and pi 5,12 - Stidmama? anybody? Pretty please with lots of sugar???
pe5/12 think of a fruit change the first letter
yeah, all the reality shows have sorta become that way. but i still like to watch a lot of them. Marcellas was on the 3rd one here. i think this summer is # 7. his name on here would be MarqueeMark or something. oh well, just wondered. he's a hoot.
Jacula - I agree, you do live in a lovely party of the world.
Whooops - slip of the finger. I meant part not party!
pi5/12 snake
pe5/12 - think of a large juicy fruit and change the first letter. A water me*** is full of seeds! pi5/12 - think of a pi* that miners dig and go down and then add the opposite of 'off'.
Jacula!!! Gracias, dankeshoen, grazie, many thanks! That did it. How I could miss that pi when my son climbs mountans I don't know. Done it at last.
StFran - Yes, I think we have had a MarqueeMarc or some such name on here for a while.
Mklein - y/w. Are fireworks in order?
J- You bet. Sky rockets and everything.
*~*^*~*FIREWORKS FOR MKLEIN*~*^* IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
ea 5/14 ?
ea 5/14 think of a bird
ea5/14 - bird of prey.
Carra 5/14 - bird of prey
duh hehe thanks
Durra - don't say 'duh'! I was late finding that one myself.
need 3 more.. pe 4/7 --po 4/7--to 4/5
pe sounds like a pig
zero youre my hero lol :)
to4/5 To drink (liquor) habitually and excessively or engage in such drinking.
carra - to 4,5 a kind of hat think 3.1415926...
pe4/7 - Small cylindrical beads made from polished shells and fashioned into strings or belts. Red Indian (or Native American, as the PC brigade would now have us call them) currency.
what does 3.1415926 mean?
there's 2 po4/7 which one?
to4/5 - a kind of pith helmet.
lol - funny what we pick up on - I got the math clue right away, thanks carra
i have the po** grip..for dentures haha
oops sorry, thanks mklein!
Carra - po/7 - more than one. Or, another clue, popular name for a parrot minus a word in the middle.
Its the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter It's also part of the name of a recent book.
The other po4/7 is a small horse. Little girls love 'em and call them My Little Po**.
4 left to go-apologies if they've been given recently-too tired to track things properly: pa5/12 pe 6/ 21 po 6/ 21 to 5/ 14 (the second one)
thanks jacula :)
po4/7 is smaller animal used in po4/5 sport
Eva po 6/21 - lovely mashed, boiled or roasted.
hi all, I'm new here. I'm getting that when you say pe (for example) you are talking about words beginning with those letters, but what are the numbers after it (4/5 or 4/7)??
yesnm letters/points
Eva - on from Mah's clue... also nice in their jackets.
any clues for po 6/30 and 5/18 would so greatly be appreciated
How could I miss my favorite food!!!
ty zero...got it...ty
momma-po6-a benign growth + first person singular
pa5/12 - think of a showy flower, white, pink or magenta. There is also a tree form of it. Take off the last letter (the sometimes vowel) for the word you seek.
yesNM also check out lickeysplit at the right for clues i learned that today :)
pe6/21 - ball used in jai alai
i'm back, ready for tomorrow's icon theme... gothic! refresh to see...
Jac-never would have gotten that one. Here we spell it only with pe-not with an a.
Carra pa 5/12 - pa + word meaning a long period of time.
Thank you EVA
I guess I'll just go back to my original icon for the Goth theme. BRB, when I've found it.
mah i got it.. im still looking for 4/5
to4/5
Just missing pe 6/ 21 to 5/ 14
there are two to 4/5: a three-letter child's toy that spins, plus a vowel. then change that last vowel for the other ...
pe 6/21: see mklein clue at 9:36
eva - pe 6/21 = pe + three letter word meaning many + first vowel
to 5/14: that the previous to 4, and stick the sometimes vowel between the double consonant
Eva to 5/14 - add the sometimes vowel between last two letters of to4/5 above.
Got my original Goth icon back. REFRESH! Incidentally, neither Goth nor 'pogo' are allowed in the present grid.
very cute... I think you were wearing that icon when I joined about a month ago!
Nor 'Polpot' or 'Topol'.
Stid - thank you!:) I can't remember when I last wore these clothes.
I was just disappointed that "opia" isn't a word -- seems that it's the logical latin plural for the poppy derivative... :-)
Also, 'taxt' should be a word... it's a good way of describing how many of us feel after a long, hard grid! LOL.
Thanks so much guys!!! Finally done. But at least the site didn't lock me out tonight, as it has the past 3 nights. Merp is now snoring.
YAY Eva!
Oddly enough, the plural of the poppy word ends in a boring 's'. I was never great at Latin when at school - that is, I could translate Latin to English very well but not the other way around. These days, I think my old Latin teachers, who once used to give me 2/10 would not be v. proud of me!
Eva - Can you tell Merp to cut the noise down, please? My Kira (the indoors cat, who is now in bed) has just complained that she can hear him above the tumble dryer!
stidmama-I've been wondering for days....what is that in you icon? Looks like a tie with some writing on it, but can't read the writing.
that particular icon wasn't as successful as it coulda' been... the writing says !red going up from left to right...
I here in my disguise as Clare Kent, and am lurking, waiting to give SuperClues!!!! Also, if anyone is interested, I have compiled a list of all the obscure words, and could post those with first two letters and one word clues IF YOU FOLKS WANT....What do YOU want?????????
*~*~*~FIREWORKS FOR EVA*~*~*~*
She should tell him herself...what did I do to deserve 2 men in my life who snore? Merp's is actually quite soft and sweet. But he has taken to sleeping next to my head.
hI jAI. Well, you can do, of course. I've been finished some time though, but I'm sure many others who are not might appreciate it.
I had thought that if it was in the dictionary it was allowed, but goth is in the dictionary, as is gothic, so what gives?
good evening, jaianniah -- i finished quiet early today... but will lurk to see what great clues you come up with! how's the weather tonight? we were promised some rain (which newly transplanted shrubs would like...) but so far only humidity.
So you have an indoor and an outdoor cat? As you know, Merp can't go out-too many coyotes around here. But this year I have decided to keep feeding the birds for as long as possible, because I'm just loving seeing who is showing up on the flight path. Last year by late March the bears made a snack of the bird feeder. This year they haven't hit it yet. Maybe because the winter was so much milder?
yay im done :D
thanks to stid
BTW all -- I have inside information that carra finished her grid YAY carra!
I think they consider Gothic to be a proper adjective- but goth is slang- I think they both are acceptable.......I have already got on my soapbox about goth and gothic....
http://img.photobucket.com/alb ums/v353/miss_carra/Cats.jpg my cats :)
Eva - I think the only two in this house who don't snore at one time or another are my son and my daughter. Their Dad used to snore, I have (apparently) snored since I was a baby (but I think that is just a rumour my Mother has circulated), my boyfriend snores (and worse, think tooth-grinding...) , the dog ued to snore, and both cats snore.
wish you-all could hear grant practicing the fiddle. He's only been serious about it for a few months, but he has a great touch and an excellent ear!
Time to go to sleep. It was good to wind down with everyone. See you tomorrow. Good night Bon nuit Buenos noches Layla Tov
Gnight Eva! see you!
~~~~~~~~F*I*R*W*O*R*K*S*~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ FOR CARRA!!!!!
'Night, Eva. Have a snore-free sleep!
thanks jai :D
ok well i think i'm getting better each day. yesterday i got just over half the words. today i have 20 to go.
Stidmama - If you can get sound on your site, then we will be able to hear him.
Mind you, Stid, having said that, I hope he doesn't sound like the violin section of our school orchestra used to! That was pretty grim first thing on a Thursday morning.
Good suggestion, Jacula! I'll see what Tom can pull together. I don't have a mic attached to the computer right now, but maybe we can put together a few midi files of my musical offspring this weekend. :-)
go saintfranny go!
Our headmistress used to be so proud of that orchestra. I think she must have been going deaf in her old age. She was a sweet old dear, though.
Well, I admit he's not I. Perlmann yet, but he compares favorably to the middle school violinists. AND, most importantly, he makes progress every time he practices, which is getting more and more frequent. I love enthusiastic learners!
Her finest hour was when our Ann Jones won Wimbledon in 67! For a while afterwards, we all got more tennis lessons that we could cope with.
She never did get another Wimbledon winner, though she did get lots of novelists, teachers, uni profs. etc.
That is so cool! My Tom watches Wimbledon every year -- though he doesn't play anymore, it's still one of his favorite sports. But in '67, I was only 1 :-)
Is a headmistress like the "principal" in one of our schools? Basically the head administrator but not a teacher?
Hello, 11 to go.
The thing I most remember Barbara Carey (that was our headmistresses' name) for is the time when she was taking an RE (Religious Education) class and a wasp was roaming around the room, causing people, herself included to flinch, leap and shriek. Someone, by the window, had it land on their desk and went to whack it with the nearest heavy thing to hand (the Bible). 'No!' Miss Carey shrieked. 'Not with that!' The pupil concerned, then opened the old wooden desk up and got an atlas out. 'That'll do!' said our C of E headmistress. So, my mate Joy whacked the wasp! Classic! Wish I could have filmed it.
hi there, harpjane! holler if you need help, jaianniah's here somewhere -- it's not just Jacula and me talking about kids :-)
well down to 17 words. think i'm stuck. but, this is the best ive done
That is just too funny! ROTFL
Stidmama - A head mistress or master in UK schools is the head teacher but also teaches. Well, they did until all the paperwork constrained them!
ah -- so once again, similar but not quite the same.
HI, Harp! I'm here, amidst Jai's superclues.
Jai - am not worried by your clues, btw. Mind you, my son was telling me yesterday about how Chinese gamers, on the serious game sites had not only ruined sites by multiple macros and idtentities but that there had also been a case of a friend murdering a friend over the game 'stealing' of a mythical sword. Scarey!
Jacula, it's so good to see you back in circulation. And I love your recipes, and your stories (I was born in Worcestershire and could swop stories about our "Senior Mistress" at Halesowen Grammar School). But mainly I need your help (and yours, Stid, Jaihanniah, whoever out there can help) because I am seeing light at the end of this tunnel--first time I've come within 10 or so words of completing the columns. So, please, I need help with th/4, pl/4, pl/5, po/4, on/4, og/4, and the three lo/4's. I'm desperate rather that greedy ( with a mer 90 minutes to go)
Th4 has two vowels
PL 4 one is a sound and the other is to beg
ti6/24?
Good evening! Lurking about whilst I beg Livia to fall asleep. Poor kid has hiccups really bad, wonder if they are keeping her awake.
down to the line! anyone got any clues for PA 5.12 and EA 5.14 - thnx
ON4- on** you can finish your puzzle!
ea5/14, big bird
Hety - I was never at Halesowen g/school. More like a King's school ...
wow jai - you rock. you've got me down to 10 words
lynxx pa5/12, p+ three vowells,+ consonant
ti6,24 compound word - both start with the same letter, and end with the same letter with a different vowel in between.
thanks mr. klein! hi jac! and everyone else!
ap6/21?
when you are sorry you should give an ap*****. take off the sometimes vowel and you've got your 6/24
Yes Jai. . .only I can finish this puzzle and I'm hafway through the 10. Oh how easy the "lo"'s were once I got the drift! Bless all you helpers !
thanks knutmeg!
Jac. . . King's Norton was it? I taught there briefly
hello, my child- look at my SuperClues and tell me what you think....
you're welcome saintfranny!
Howdy, Mum! I do like your superclues! :-)
Can anyone give clues? Even newbies like me??
I LOVE your new icon- not that Livia wasn't fun to see!!!
yessNN go for it!
yesNM- Anyone can give clues, or at least I've not seen anyone stop anyone else. :-) Mum- Thanks! I'm trying to find a better pic of that TShirt, but so far that's the best.
Thaaaankyou Harpjane My first time ever finished - maybe someday I can really do it by myself !!
Put these 2 little words together to form one: finger _ _ _ and _ _ _ hat
Hetty - Yes. Girls' or boys' school? You taught there? When? Don't tell me you were Miss Weir (German)?
ha 8/55?? any clues?
Mama- see SuperClues
YAY lynxxx!
i'm back... somehow a trojan worm was working in the background... don't know how it got on, but there it was. Took a little longer than I expected to clean it up. :-( HI KNUTMEG, Hetty, all!
Hi, Stidmama!!
mama - ha 8.55 starts as ha 7.36 - lose the last 2 and follow word down, down and right
How do you find out there is a 8/55 word (for example)? Was my clue too obscure? Need more clues? I guess I should have said it's a 6/24.
Evening friends!
yesNM, there are two places I go to get a list, usually I go to Lickety's Clues in the "Friends of Babble" links on the right of this page. I also sometimes use the clues from Babblers Anonymous. And for help without taking up other players' time, I use the resources from Angelsong's pages. She has lists of websites that can help you find words to fit the clues
Hetty - Do you remember Biddy Roberts?
hey there kristinc! Things starting to get back to normal for you now? I know that both the vacation and last weekend must have been independently "filled" to the brim.
Hetty - if you do, then you know the woman who shaped my life.
Hi stid and others Yes, looking back on things, going on vacation and coming back two days before good Friday probably wasn't the smartest thing to do. We also then had family in town for the weekend. It made sense at the time, but yes...we've now recovered nicely.
isn't it amazing how smart we become after the fact? LOL
NO, Jac, sorry about not remembering a Bidddy Roberts. I was probably way earlier--my year at the girls' school was cut short by my unlooked for pregnancy and the son so inadvertantly to blame is now 52!
stid...yes, we've made a mental note for the future :)
Back to school again, I remember Miss Weir (German), she was just out of Uni, so 22/23? The soddish old 'uns set her the task of teaching a class of 12-yr-olds (in the 70s!) about the basics of the sex act. Yea, well... we all knew the basic biological stuff, Mrs. Gallimore had taught us that a term before... Anyway, she stood in front of us and tried to complete her first sentence... 'The male inserts his penis into the vagina'... that's how it was phrased in those days. Bu she blushed so much, she couldn't finish the sentence, and no, I guess our giggling and 'finishing' comments didn' help either.
Hetty - if you don't want to reveal yourself on here, at least go onto the FR UK site and put yourself in under schools/teachers. It woud be very helpful if you did so.
not a Miss Weir, sorry Jac, but a Miss Upton, who was already a Mrs. Clews by the time we are talking about. But this is so strange. A woman who changed my life as a schoolgirl at aforesaid HGS was a Christine Roberts. Gym teacher.
Hetty, it KNGGS! And Mrs. Clews IS a name I remember! And my English teacher may birch me in hell for starting any sentence, let alone two of them, with 'and'!
ti 6/24? (or am I just loosing it and it is really easy)
kristinc == 2 three letters words: ti* of the finger + *** hat (also known as a stovepipe hat...)
oh good grief! I hate compound words (only thing I hate more is re words) thanks!
passing the tuna and salmon casserole to kristinc *bows deeply*
here fishy fishy :)
WEll, I won't birch you m'dear. Yoiur sories about your school memories fill me with a sense of circles closing. As a new graduatre in English and Theology my task was to instruct girls in Scripture Knowledge, as it then was called, and it included an expected foray into birdsandbeesland for some strange reason. Don't remember using technical language myself though. Stid, if you're reading this, there is one remaining po/4 I just can't seem to see. I sghall turn in shortly anyway, so good night all.
<<O ((((((()))))))>>>>> fish? here 's one!
Goodnight hetty, I'm still working on the po's myself or I'd help out!
po 4 words: a long thin stick a cut and cauterized horn (as on a bull) a game played horseback with mallets "many" latin prefix a smallish horse spiritual head of Catholic church
hetty, hope that helped, i'm pretty tired today, too. Doesn't seem possible that it's only twenty till nine here!
stid...twenty til nine? I need to drive south, because then I'd have more time to get my final 20 words :)
MANY THANKS you lovely stidmama. ou know the one couldn't see was His Holiness. Something Freudian, perhaps, but I couldn't se him in the enabler list either.Night and LOL
*grimace* THAT's how tired I am, folks -- twenty to ten... yw Hetty, sometimes it's the obvious ones that hide the longest!
stid... no worries, I just did a double take when I read this, who knows, you could have been in Hawaii?
oh, if only! then I would have an excuse for my yard to look this way! LOL Figured out what caused my allergic reaction earlier this week -- something in the burn pile. The smoke just kept coming right at me. Anyway, have lost three good gardening days because of it! blah. Tomorrow, I am out there for at least a little while, rain or shine!
ooh stid, that doesn't sound good. It sounds like it will be rain but not too much! Take care of yourself.
thanks kristinc! I wish I were used to being so "fragile" but honestly it stinks that sometimes what would merely annoy most people lands me in bed. Oh well, I guess I make up for it with my magnetic personality and general niceness *giggle* and so far i haven't ended up in a hospital *crosses fingers*
well, take it easy and hang in there. You're right..being as kind as you can cover up a mutlitude of physical ills :)
need more clues anyone? before I fall asleep at the keyboard?
I'm still working on the ha 7 and 8 (though I'll confess, I just started on them so if they're easy, just tell me so and I'll keep looking)
i didn't find them easy... jaianniah's clue at 10:26 was "HA 7/36- think of the main job of a farmer and add that; HA 8/55- one sightedness; Ha5/18- i am HA*** that I am done with this puzzleit starts like that;"
okay, just the 7 and 8 to go, I'm sure I'll find them. Go rest up for your big day outside tomorrow :) Take care.
ha 7 might be easier this way: ha + what grows in gardens (singluar), change that vowel to a different one
i think i am going to go early today. See you-all tomorrow, I hope!
and that did it. Thanks! I'm heading off too...seem to be getting more tired earlier in the night now.
{{{good night all}}}
goodnight, take care ((((((hugs))))))))
Ack! Just got a note in the mail from one of my coworkers. Another coworker of mine had a brain tumor which turned otu to be stage 5 cancer! She is such a good lady, very grandmotherly to everyone. So nice. I guess she made it through surgery great and will start chemotherapy soon. I hate finding bad news in the mail... :-(
And then on the other hand.... IIIIEEEE!!! Livia's books from the book club I signed her up for came and and my favorite Dr. Suess book came this month. Fox in Socks!!! Yay!!
knutmeg, that is so sad -- I hope that she will recover.
yay for you and for Liv! see you all on the other side (if only briefly)
I hope so, too. Made a note to call my cowoker who sent the note tomorrow to see if there is somewhere I can send a get well card to.
Hetty - your posts have intrigued me, Please go into BabAnon and join up and mail me through there.
