Well, lack of sleep and blurry vision is making bedtime more desirable than getting any more words at this point, so I'm going to take my 51 words, and my 3 gray boxes to bed to dream of fireworks for finishing this later. Good night, everybody, Babble on!

hiya librebel - i'm stuck @ 86 words. i'm trying to become a morning person. it's rained for 12 days here - my garden is swamped.
anyway, see everyone tomorrow. at some point.
OK, I'm over the halfway point -- 125 gone -- and I'm going to bed.
I'm starting to see stuff like "tundra" and "tendril", so I have no shot of doing anything more with the board as of now.
helenkeller-- the server is really weird-- cursor change is a delayed reaction
yeah i was wishing on tundra & tendril - not gonna happen (sigh)
good night shadeeagle

it's been my downfoal...
heh
ow! ow!
well this has gone right down the t 6/18
melonheadjujube-- same here w/ waterlogged garden :)
ooh-- sorry; puns can be painful...
i have flats that are waiting. today was actually nice, but i keep the sabbath rather strictly...hoping for tom'w
ty again melonhead... I will trade you a few square yards of my dry clay for some of your wet...
as i once heard, were i puished for every pun i shed...
oh, clay we have. i've worked tons of perlite 7 manure into it (sister has a horsey)
i have a sib in chicago - the soil there looks like day old devilsfood cake. like an idiot i asked, "where's you get the dirt?" "from the ground." oh.
I would love some horse poo for my garden! :-) it would be a really good help... but don't have a truck for hauling.
oh man -- my soil will look like that by the time I have grandchildren (note my elder only just became a teen recently...) may it be another fifteen years or more...
cow doo bettr, but horse doo is less pungent. best from th eyear old pile at the stable. we gardeners are a bunch....
perlite is really good stuff. lightweight, doesn't break down, bt does break up the soil.
lol melon - i live in chicago - that's very funny - most of my soil is very good, but there is some clay, here & there - but not much
chickenpoo works really well
aren't we though! I can talk garden, flowers... all day long. Not happy with my fruit trees though, I just found peach leaf curl on my last good peach tree. Will have to hand pull the bad leaves this year and s/pray a lot to see if it makes it to next year... the nectarine and the other peach have to go though.
whew! talk about pungent, though!
loam is the official soil of the state of Illinois, so i hear
haven't tried pigeonpoo; very abundant in the city...
fruit trees stid - i'm impressed!
official soil - lol
liba, what about Canada geese - yow.
or seagullpoo...
for real HK, my sis told me.
we have about half an acre for garden, the other half is still mostly treed... but under the half inch of topsoil is all clay.
we had that very bad hailstorm a couple of days ago, so many baby pears, apples & grapes on the ground :(((
melon - where is your sister at?
and I wanted my children to experience real fruit of many types when they were little... we planted trees before we started painting the bedrooms!
oh, melonheadthose geese are misplaced, poor thing, but they sh** lie dogs, which fact makes them unwelcome...
well, it seems you have your priorities striahgt stid :)
i rent, but nice landlord let's me garden, the vegs are just a 6 ft dia circle in the front yard, its the sunniest location - i paid to have a stump removed. spinach is coming up, bunies got to the lettuce. bloodmeal s/discourage them.
oh- hail is bad -- I am so glad it's rare here. I am really hoping for some apples this year from my tree, and I know we'll get lots of plums and quince again. I just love them.
hello everyone
liba here's a piece of - - trivia. there is a lacquer called 'merde doie" which is french for....
a firstimer here....lol
hi windd
bunnies are real garden terrorists -- but they're too cute to really be angry. I just let the dogs roam around a lot and they seem to keep away from most of the plants.
hey, let's all just talk sh**!
oops 'merd d'oie' left out an apostriphe
this game is very addciting! hI WINDDANCER
welcome wind :)
Hi winddancer, have you seen angelsong's resource page yet? there's a link in the "friends of babble" at the bottom of the page. She has lots of great hints and links that help.
hi Cat! how you doing?
hi stidmama...txs...i have not yet...just got here...just heard about this site from a game buddy in literati in yahoo
stid - bloodmeal keeps m away. i cen finally grow peas (pea shoots are bunny candy)
melonhead.. hmm...sh** of doie?? --got me??
now deer are another thing... I spray a concoction of egg and chili pepper in water... they hate it and it's not permanent. and my trees survive :-)
98 - whew -
with dogs, raccoons and bear, I am afraid to use bloodmeal...
go melonhead go! :-)
oie - goose. goosesh** green - it's a near black lacquer used on harpsichords.
sh** happens... (ducking projectiles)
hurling a bunny slipper at my monitor - DUCK!
*quack quack*
uh-oh - i was just going to stop, but i see i have 100 left - this is what i had last night & didn't get a chance to finish
HELEN -- go to sleep.... go to sleep.... my sister in law had her baby Thursday, so someone in Chicago needs the sleep, you might as well take it! LOL
99.....
lol
Watch ur language LIBRABEL! (~.~)
*waits in breathless anticipation for melonhead's next word*
& i am tired, spend the day with step son & his partner looking for new puppy for them - found a tiny baby girl pom - what a cutie!
tile
how fun!
arrrrrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhh
guess that was melonhead's next word! ROFL
101
don't urt yrself stidmama.... ;)
ti**---- ooh tile!
*owie owie owie* ;-) my sides hurt from laughing so much!
manure happens...
hey at least it was a plain old word - why it took me 99 to get it...
guano happens.
there is really a delayed reaction w/ the transferring of the cursor from the answer box to the chat!! really!!
oh my, it's 3am and I really need to get to sleep
in my yard, strawberries happen! as long as the dogs stay out of the flowerbeds.... I have so many just waiting for a few warm sunny days. I want strawberries for my b-day!
morning stid, how are you getting on
and then, of course, guano happens... :)
nrkii! didn't know you were still on! go to sleep! play tomorrow!
hi scatty! was telling my mother about you today -- and how grateful I am for all the lovely people here so my children can babble too...
i'm stopping @ 101.....goodnight all, lilah tov, buona notte, etc....
stid, how do you keep the slugs at bay
stid, I turned off chat for a bit so i could plow through words without getting distracted (and wetting my pants laughing)
we've been talking gardens...
night melonhead
I have 96 left, and I can't keep my eyes open, so with that, good night all!
for mollusks (we also have snails, sigh) I use "Sluggo" it's an iron phosphate that is toxic to mollusks and fish, but not apparently to mammals and birds.
good night nrkii! see you tomorrow!
I did gardening today... I threw the cat out the back door and she ripped my pot plant to pieces to spite me! I guess the cat did the gardening...!
nrkii, no wonder you are tired, go to bed
good night melonhead --
ummm.. mrp -- in the US "pot plant" refers to marijuana... do you mean plants in pots?
mrpresident, my boxer loves to nose in newly potted plants
oh dear! of course I do!
mrpresident-- did you see bonkler's flat cat?
i need the weather to perk up so i can plant out, my greenhouse is very green at the moment, if i don't plant out soon, they are all going to flower
welcome back you crazy cat !!!
i need the weather to perk up so i can plant out, my greenhouse is very green at the moment, if i don't plant out soon, they are all going to flower
crash????
mine threatened then
stidmama, do you have slug problems over there
I didn't see it! What did I miss! Hi Helen!!
Some years very bad, this year so far not so terrible but we haven't had much rain this last month.
Bonkler went pro and used a funny icon of his cat...
I don't have many plants to put in at the moment, just a couple of artichoke I haven't decided where to put...
looks flat as the proverbial pancake-- very funny
plus it's really his cat iggy
like a flonder...
flounder
which Helen mrp??? By the way i am Helenanh hi
no iam helena
my slugs have eaten their way through half my marigolds, and have started on my asters and zennias, i have used slug pellets but they seem to make no difference
I have to look out for that! Cats are popular in icons in babble!! helena!! long time no see!!
yup..been os and busy and needed a beak!!!
well, good to see you back!
helena, where are you from
how are you up there?
hm. Have you ever tried dusting with diatomaceous earth? the slugs really don't like it, and it's good against aphids too
down south
hello helena
scatty..melbourne!
Things are good helena... dry as a bone, but good! and you ??
have never heard of it stidmama, but will look out for it as they are starting to beat me
my sister is in Sydney, has been there for just over a year now
helenary, there is now a map Dr_G set up ... www.frappr.com/babble so we can see where people are (if they want to)
near Lavender bay
i've been good..its turned bitterly cold down here. guess you are still ejoying that mild climate. Notice all the changes to babble!!
thanks stidmama
i tried that stid,i don't know what i was doing wrong but i couldn't get a flag
oh that's right because it's nearly winter for you!
i'll look at the site mentioned
Scatty -- there was some sort of problem at first with UK and Canada addresses, but I think it's fixed now... you might try again if you have time and interest.
Nice changes too... did you see Lickety's clue page? Nice new addition too! Winter hasn't been here for about 15 years now!! the weather is almost tropical now!
if you can get the flag to work helena, let me know, step by step how you did it please
will do, will look later, i'd better get started on the k's, see you later
I have 112 words to go... pretty tired, but interested in the chat (and watching Saturday Night Live with Tom)
mr.p we are still in summer gear up here (qld) and winter is only a couple of weeks away!
later scatty!
ok, can't do any more - eyes closed - leaving 89 for tomorrow - good nite everyone :)
sunny, you gotta love being in qld!! you lucky thing! I like the warm weather!
nite helen!
good night helen! sleep well and see you tomorrow!
is queensland a lot further north?
phooey , sealion ought to be one word
stidmama, we are the next state up from mr. p
okay, I think I need to study the map again... I know where mrp is... brb
ah! but it's really HUGE -- are you at the far north or closer to NSW?
how do i get my flag back?? lost it since the changes
I am down in the lower southeast part, just up from the border... about 5 hours drive
I ask because in the US California is really long. The north has weather very much like ours in the Puget Sound region, the south is really tropical.
I think you just need to go back into your account settings, helenary.
we are exp very tropical weather at the moment. My town is usually vvvv cold in winter
I love the sunshine coast of QLD... it is where I wanna go when I have my sea change!!
Our weather has been unusual the last few years as well. Not as wet as we expect, and a lot hotter in the summers
except for the Mojave Desert.
hi corps!
hi stid!
what's word count?
246
the mojave is just dry and boring... except in the few days after a lovely spring rain. I am NOT a desert person!
i love desert! was stationed there for three years.
there is a nine-letter word, 4 eight-letter words, and 12 seven-letters.
el 7
thanks
how do ya know that, stid?!
the nine, btw is sa 9/54...
The number of words with various letters are listed in the word stats toward the bottom of the page -- not all users have access to that however.

KittyVane, I saw you on the frappr map... :-)
Yup, added myself yesterday

Thank you, I'm sure BooBoo appreciates the compliment, as she continues to sleep in pretzel like positions :)
wat is the 9 letter word?
BooBoo - that's cute. All credits go to the owner.
thank you :)
i think i'll get in trouble if i say, paige & maddie
BooBoo is my little baby and the love of my life :D

Copeland's Appalachian Spring is on the radio. Perfect thing to wake up to evenif it's supposed to snow tonight
Snow? Wow, its so warm here, we finally have spring!
should be in the upper 60's by the end of the week, but at least the cold means that the rain will be moving out
Where are you Eva? I'm in northern Cali
I keep seeing tiptoe in the upper right, it's making me crazy lol
I'm in North Central Vermont
beautiful country in Vermont
and in Northern Cal, although have to admit I haven't been there since 68.

we have some nice areas up here too, although where I am, it has grown leaps and bounds since 68, a concrete jungle anymore
how can there possibly be 13 words from that first a?!
I don't know, I'm stuck at 8 words
Vermont doesn't tend to grow much-which is great environmentally and in terms of natural beauty, but also rough economically, and a lot of young people are moving away because they can't find work
mrp gives herself *~*~*~FIREWORKS!~*~*~* All done! *sweating*

cliff-yes, a little glimpse of blue does a lot for the spirits. But it's going to snow tonight here. Glad I wasn't impulsive in putting out plants
does anyone have the ae? i tried, please.
mrp-no one would want as much rain as we've had
it's the usual ae meaning a long, long time
ae4 is the most frequently used word on lickety's clue list
of course it is i was looking in the left corner instead. Thanks, open eyes svet,
mr p - be careful what you wish for! seems like we are always either too wet or too dry. mother nature isn't too happy with new england lately.
hi eva. snow? you poor thing.
its not too happy with old england either.
We have drought... our dams are at 30%... give it to us baby!!
its not too happy with the planet. For good reason.
30%...!!!...wow that is bad..even for the west
morning everyone!
elaet
ugh. sorry
okay mr p. i'll do a rain dance for you - but if you get too much....
Drought is nasty! we are in dire straits here!
I'm going to spend the morning repotting tomato babies...into larger peat pots so they'll be ready when the waters and snow recede. Getting my hands in soil is always good for what ails me.
We could use the rain in Florida too! We are on fire!!
mrp..can you believe england is talking about standing pipes in the streets??
i thought id left that stuff behind
what are standing pipes?
rolin... what are stding pipes
where they cut off your house water and tyyou have to fill from the taps put in the street
good lord! that is awful!
Yesterday I drove by what is usually a large pasture, and found the cows picking their way, placidly of course, around a new lake.
Yesterday I drove by what is usually a large pasture, and found the cows picking their way, placidly of course, around a new lake.

Hi everyone!!! I have the lu8/45 and di8/50, may I have clues for the 2 other 8 letter words

by kate
flooded north shore of MA - Ipswich
Morning everyone. Please say a prayer for my Grandson. A guy ran right into his Harley yesterday and he slid 300 feet and the bike 400. He is in the hospital now, we know broken hand for sure, stitches in head and not sure about the knee. Thanks all!!
i'm actually in a town that neighbors Laconia. close to Gunstock ski area.
That's bad, rumple, so sorry to hear that. My prayers go with him and you.
rumple....i'll say a few of them :(
Oh Rumple!! hope he mends quickly !! that is awful for him! hope his head is ok too!!
rumplestiltskin-that's just terrible. I'll be sure to keep him in my thoughts.
gee that's terrible, hope he's ok. People still don't see the bikes, look driver, look rider.
our motto in my area is "save a life - look both ways twice"
We are very careful of bike riders and try and let everyone else be aware! thats is a good motto cliff!
well i'd better get at my list of chores that i put off yesterday. have to make cookies to send off to my son and somehow do spring cleaning before going to a graduation party. good luck with the grid everyone.
cliff, sure you won't need the bulldozer I'd need to accomplish spring cleaning. Have a great day.
have a great day :)
bbl
oh - i almost forgot. i spent all afternoon uploading pics yesterday to 'flickr.com' - if you want to see my furry children go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/cliffopa/ (the site is also in my profile)
good morning can anyone please tell me how many words there are today
246, bev
thank you very much
seal
sorry
hehe, np, happens all the time.
clues for 7 or 8 please.......
hi, i'm new here...can someone tell me why the same letter appears more than once in tile stats?
Welcome! Because they appear more than once in the grid itself, probably.
um...i'm not sure i understand...
The tile stats are arranged in the same order as the tiles of the grid itself. Each letter in the stats refers to a tile on the grid. So the E in the middle upper row says there are 2 words, starting with that specific E.
It tells you the how many words begin with the first letter on the grid... so from the top left there are 6 words that begin with that N... at the bottom right there are 5 words that begin with the N down there
oh! thanks! :c)
clues..clues..clues...please........
Yes, thanks! I hadn't quite thought that out...
nogie, if you scroll down, there are lots of clues in the log already.
cliffopa, love your pics on Flickr!! :-)
just got one clue sprite..thanx anyway.. :)
nogie: next to the tabs above the chat window, there are 2 icons. The upper right one opens the entire chatlog in a separate window. Lots and lots of clues :)
Just popped in to say hi and bye...am off to Guernsey for a few days,,not going to attempt this one
Have fun, Kallia :)
thank you I am sure I will...just hope the weather improves
thanx sprite...sure it'll be ofhelp :)
morning everyone
morning, saphyre! I see that you're in MD--my daughter's heading to College Park in 2 weeks for grad school!
about 30 minutes from me
i live on the chesapeake bay western shore
sounds beautiful
it's nice - small town - sidewalks get rolled up at 9 every night :)
OK, if no one else is gonna do the Dallas theme today, I'm getting rid of JR! :-)
Hi Pat, how are you doing today?
I have enough dalles of myself in life ;)
lol - never was into that show
MD will be a big change for her--she's been in the NC mountains for several years--but she and her boyfriend will still find plenty of places to hike and ride bikes, right?
oh definitely
Uninteresting for most of you, but monumental for myself: just finished the Ks!
OK, I've changed to my mom's sweet Derby
and walking the shore of the bay finding shark teeth is always fun
and it's nearby?
about 30 minutes or so from college park I guess
excellent!!
no, that's pretty huge, sprite. they are driving me krazy:)
Happy Sunday all! Had to step in here for this convo... Une, there are tons of trails to ride in the greater D.C. area... if she checks out the Washington Post online, she should be able to find out about a lot.
i have 7 of the 9 k's
cool--thanks, Jen!
dc is within 30 minutes also
I just hate K-words. Well, at least this time they are all rather common. Do you have the big Ks, saphyre? 6/33 and 7/48?
and annapolis too
yes i have both of those
right--I've already told her we're heading straight to the National Gallery when I come visit! :-)
there is plenty to do in this area so she won't be bored
My last K was K4/8: to make a sweater.
how many k's are there pls?
Thanks, Sprite, that's the last one I needed as well... Hellow everyone!
9 Ks.
hmmm my list says i have all nine but the tile stats say i only have 7
Hey Jera :)
duh..i coulda loked at the grid i guess..*slaps self*
lol rolin... still not used to being pro? ;)
Did you try refresh, saphyre? The site is rather buggy since all the changes.
keas
oh, I know there's lots to do--she and her boyfriend are up for just about anything and enjoy exploring--they just want to be sure there's "nature" close by :-)
4 ke's 4 ki's and a kn right?
bugger
I have had a great weekend... got sunburned yesterday & my ranking is shot, but had a great time "back home."
Right on the dot.
i'll try refreshing again
where did you go, jera?
Hi Jera - My ranking is shot too. What did you do yesterday?
Perhaps force-refresh, with alt.
I'm trying to decide if I have time to play today or not.
Just don't spoil too much time deciding and start playing ;)
off to walk the dogs (and dragging Shelby out since it's started thundering and she's already hiding!)
maybe i should log out and back in - be back
We have WalkAmerica for the March of Dimes today and then worship service after that. If I'm going to play I need to get started and get it done before I leave.
Hehe, wise dog, knows when not to go outside!
Wen to the annual hometown Spring festival in the town where we used to live... it was great seeing everyone. I had the Girl Scout booth & we sold lots of stuff that the Girls had made... they were thrilled!
morning! is today's grid easier than yesterday's?
how fun, jera!!
{{{Jera}}} :)
{{JEN}}
Yey! jera that sounds like fun. We had Court of Awards Friday night and Sarah did her rappelling training for 8 hours yesterday.
Hannah and I hung out in the State Park hiking while Sarah was up on the cliffs. Then we played cards with friends last night
I also signed up several new Girls, which is always a thrill for me... I LOVE talking up Girl Scouts! I also got to meet an official tpe person from Council who had heard about me! *blush*
Jen!! Hi how are you?
One could start today with typing in random babblets. There are lots of them in the grid today!
Oh wow, mm, that sounds fun! Now do you guys still meet in the summer or is COA goodbye?
That is great Jera! I forgot to get the Indian Lore stuff for you. I have put you on my to do list and will get it this week.
Oh , don't worry about it, mm... I found your council's website & snagged all I need!
The Girls looked over the badges but they still want to earn the old one as well.
I am SOOO sorry. I was at the Field Center twice for the COA and still forgot. UGH! I have to go down Tuesday again.
Excellent! I didn't realize it was on the site.
Also your insects & myster, underground railroad ones. Maybe aquaculture.
Yes we will meet all summer. We are planning a sleepover at the lodge at Rocky Cliffs (?) to visit and plan iwth another cadette troop.
Also will go start gazing in August to watch the meteor showers.
Swim party and at least one more ceramics workshop.
The underground railroad one is very good.
I'm good MM... you?
Okay. I need to go put dinner in the crockpot. I'll be back to examine this grid and possibly play in a little bit.
We want to do a ceramics workshop as well. They earned most of the badge at school, which made me happy. So we're planning a trip to Clay Cafe to tie up lose ends. Probably tiles
Later, mm
I'm excellent Jen. Spent all day outside in the fresh air yesterday and am doing a 5 mile walk today.
Tiles are good Jera. We are doing Christmas Tree ornaments to sell at our craft booth.
I can't believe I forgot to put sunscreen on my ears! Ouch!
I wanna make a chessboard!
cleared temp files closed browser restarted computer - still showing that i only have 7 K's
I HATE sunburned ears! I got 'em last time I played golf... it was painful.
I hate sunburned ears too. I always forget my ears and the tops of my feet.
A chessboard would be very cool.
Okay. Be back soon
You'd think I'd learn by now. At least I kept my hat on so my scalp didn't burn... now that hurts!
Darn saphyre. And log out/log in does not change it either?
no
Sounds like a job for Dr_God, saphyre...
Indeed.
i wonder if the other stats are right - i'll have to check
all the others seem to be ok... how odd
I had something like that, yesterday. I had entered 'azide', but it did not show up in the list. Re-entering the word gave the "you already entered this" message. But after a while somehow the word had appeared in the list yet.
yes that has happened to me before also, but the tile stats always seemed to work
Must be some kind of bug. Don't know if DrG is open to bugs, but it sounds like something he should know about.
just use the send message at the bottom?
That should work fine.
hiya
hi hannah
hi sprite how u doin ?
Wah, latin is invalid
Must be capitalised, Jera.
I am fine, hannah, and you?
okay i sent the message - but i keep looking thinking i should find two more because it isn't grayed out :)
im good fankoo
hiya jera
Hey, I keep trying to find k words & my boxes ARE grayed out...
Hey hannah lou how are you today/
lol jera
K-words do that to you. They are sooooooo bad.
jera im good ui
Thought that might cheer you up, saphyre!
not as bad as re words sprite!
just slap me if i ask for a k clue later :)
I prefer re-words!
For me, vowel words are the worst...
i agree--a's aren't my faves either!!
maybe i should enter all my k words again :)
That might work, saphyre... worth a shot!
Done. And for the 3rd time in a row: no fireworks. Is this site buggy or what!
Congrats sprite!
Huzzah for Sprite! Even without fireworks...
sprite, same with me--bring back the fireworks!!
i like text twist .... better
:) cheers from you guys are even better than fireworks!
nope...but I just noticed that two of them i typed with my caps lock on... maybe that did something
Hmmm... 3 days of no foreworks, you say? Hmmmm... that's how long it's been since I've completed a puzzle... coincidence? Or am I holding everyone up with my laziness??
congrats sprite
LOL Jera!
Got to go, happy hunting all!
bye sprite
Bye, sprite!
bye, sprite!
ok i found the bug - if you type in uppercase it doesn't record them in the tile stats
That didn't used to make a difference... good to know... glad your mystery is solved, saphyre!
i guess i need to use the list today to keep track of what i really need.
oh well - 100 to go I'll be back later
bye everyone
bye saphyre!
I just found 100 & the contruction out front is picking up... back later (I hope)!
later, saphyre!
has anyone got the na5/10?
it's Indian bread
naan
aans
shoot...thx..sorry
:-D
i'm not seeing the chat moving, and i've refreshed several times...is it me, or is the chat stalled?
lol, or did everyone just get vewwy vewwy quiet?
Not you featherbee, I think we all just got lost in the grid! :)
heh, i was wondering if there was something wrong with the chat! don't think i've ever seen it that quiet!
Stats Schmats I'm going to play today. I may not finish but it has been three days and I'm going through grid search withdraw.
it's not too bad so far, musicmom
I'm just going for it. Greg and Sarah have left for his gig in Parkersburg. Hannah slept over at the babysitter's last night. It is quiet and I'm alone. Great time to play
246 words.... will Dr_God ever have mercy on us?
He did last week on Mother's Day when I had all day to play<G>
lol
Ok after an age I'm back and can't recognise the grid or page! :o
Hey Zubie Welcome to the new and improved babble world
Hi musicmom; when did this change happen? I am scared of the new look :d
hey zubie... wb!
Hey cathy thanks
i came back after quite a break too... this change is actually nice
Sometime around the first of May. I was gone for a week and came back shocked as well.
I don't doubt it; just needs getting used to...My system can't take it yet!
One warning. Be very careful to switch your cursor back to the add word box before you type a word. Lots of us have screwed up putting words in the chat
Done. 246 words.
Oh...yes, nearly happened to me already. Thanks musicmom.
Oh...yes, nearly happened to me already. Thanks musicmom.
WTG scraggly!
Bravo Scraggly
I think it will take a while for me to get used to this - the page looks so...*busy*!
LI 5 10 ? ..... please
Zubie - it is my understanding that pretty soon you won't be able to see the tile stats if you don't have Pro status. Dr_God put them there so people could try them out.
I don't have that yet Grim
Tile stats as is? The word list of words I've found? Gee - if that happens then it's going to be tough
i keep wanting to do tendril
No zubie - down below the grid. You have tile stats -- -they show you how many words come off each letter in the grid
I've never had that, musicmom; not even before the change
You should have it now --- hmmmmm unless it has gone away already sorry:-((
Hi zubie, long time, how are you? musicmom the stats have already been taken away form non pros, happened a couple of days ago.
i think it may have left by now
Thanks FMitch - I have been away from the grid for about 3 days
I don't have it now; and if it's gone away already that pretty unfair of it - going before I even had a chance to meet it ;D There's manners [of a stats panel] for you ;D
FMitch!!! Yayyy! Hi how are you?
LOL Zubie - what are you going to do?
Glad to see you!!!!!, where have you been!!!!!
I have come back after almost a month to experience a severe shock to my system - a changed page, chat logs where there were none before and stats panels vanishing before I meet them!
I know zubie, it's taking a lot of getting used to and it's still quite buggy. Have a look at lickety and angelsongs lins under friends of babble to all new and improved
brb
zubie - you can always use one of the links at the bottom of the page. licketys is a good one and has the stats
Hello, all. I might have to quit this god forsaken game. I seem to love it more than I should. The sun is out for the 1st time in forever and I'm sitting in here w/ my best friend hp on my lap. What's wrong w/this picture?
I'm not going to do anything right now, musicmom; the disappeared stats panel will have to stay disappeared until I can figure out what to do about them.
FMitch - been busy; haven't had time to log into Babble lately
I'm not playing today zubie as am short on time but just had to pop in and say Hi when I sawy you rname coume up. Are you back for a while or is this afleeting visit? We can all quit anytime can't we gramma!!!
Ok ls1 - I'll do that just as soon as I get stuck - which will be pretty soon I think, with my babble-rusty brain[severely shocked too] - :)
lovuly picture gramma
LOL Gramma - my house is trashed from us being busy. I'm home alone - perfect time to clean up but I'm playing. Don't quit!!
I think I win the prize for laziness... I'm playing babble and letting my son watch a Power Rangers marathon!
TY I'm trying to keep abreast of the real world. Gone from daffodils to tulips to now lilacs.
I need to cut my finger nails. I can't type for crap today
Aww FMitch (((hugs))) ; I reached 46 but I think the total is 200 more than that; I'm quitting and turning this into a flying visit. Or was it fleeting? :D And you can email me...
I hate N words!
Me too Gramma - but at least there is only one r word today.
None of those dreaded RE's
N-words? There are N-words?
no re words ahhhhhhh just one cute little r4.
All is right with the world as long as there are no re words gramma!
Cherrypop, don't you worry your pretty little head
haven't got yr email addy zubie
You can mail me at bab anon, FMitch - through the system there; I'm zubie there too and then I'll let you have a proper email id from there
:D
lol
ahh had forgotten about that, will do :)
Ok FMitch ; Now I'm out of here for now; I will check babanon tomorrow or so;
Ok FMitch ; Now I'm out of here for now; I will check babanon tomorrow or so;
And I'm horrible at grammar and typing today; :o
LOL byeeee

hi jera : )
Is he okay?
Hi Jera
Couldn't stay away, huh, musicmom?
yes, he's fine! just busy with other things : )
Nope I decided I didn't care about my stats -- they are just numbers. i want to play for as long as I can before I go to the walk at 1:00
{{{jera}}} real-life grabbed me for a while...but i'm back now, lol! : )
The Cappy in me won't allow that... I have to care about my stats...
that's the spirit mm! : D
I figured you'd left us completely for sudoku, lola...
*gasp!* never jera! : /
Yeah - well we'll see how I feel when I am up until the flip finishing;)
If I were smart I would never start ones I can't finish... but the first 100 words or so are such fun!
It's easy to have this kind of bravado early in the day.
I stayed away Friday and Saturday because I KNEW I didn't have time to even come close to finishing
My nose hurts... I've sent hubby out for aloe gell...
I'm sooo sorry. You are helping me though. I will remember to put sunscreen on before my walk - even on my ears.
I'm stuck at home till the POwer Rangers marathon (promised my son he could watch it all) is over, so I should be able to finish this one.
My ears are not too bad, althouth they hurt earlier... now my nose hurst, which wasn't really bothering me before...
Help with the si6?
What fun, Jen!
It's all the old ones Jera, so the fashions are a hoot!
I resent Power Rangers... total rip-off of Voltron!
Don't know Voltron... these are from the early 90's.
How many un's are there? I'm gonna work on those to start finding new words...
Voltron was an 80's thing... I loved them as a kid
7 un words I think. I'm missing one 6/21
si6, si plus road : )
Thanks Lola
Rats I only have 2 4 letter ones... all the things I try to undo are not valid...
My monkey typing is pathetic today
Good Morning All: Beautiful Sunday here in the states, thought I would babble for a bit....any clue on the 9 letter word Thanks
Morning Speedfreak. I know the 9 starts with sa but I haven't found it
It's becoming quite a challenge to make half-way before using the list
Morning, speedfreak, how are you today?
sa9 is like the formal hello minus the "u"
hi speed! sorry, don't have the 9 yet : )
speedfreak, the sa 9 sounds like a word that means "greeting", but remove the u.
I didn't even try today Jera. I'm going for a speed record instead - how fast can I do it with the list
do now! thanks jen : )
Thanks Jen

Hi Punster

dang, blast and bugger it!
you've got your vowels backwards punster
hi punster : )
hursh! how's you? : )
fine loly, this grid started out kinder than it is getting now.
Hiya, punster...... So, how was the Da Vinci Code?
Hey Lola, good to see you again :) How's today's grid treating you?
yeah, how was the code?
hursh, it's not a nice one, is it? : /
it WAS loly, but now it turned mean.
I found the DaVinci Code to be better than I thought, and will go see it again before it goes
I can't wait to see it Punster
i'm not sure i have the po4 that the po7 is based on...
you too punster : ) grids starting to bite back : /
So, I kinda missed out then......
Punster, does "better than I thought" mean "good"?
oh no, i see.
i haven't read the book yet, but will do that rather. can't STAND tom hanks! : /
anyone else going nuts over potent, potential, and potentate?
I read the book and Tom Hanks is completely miscast.
Definitely, Movieman :} Consider this, the film is 2h 30m long, but I didn't notice the time passing - my definition of a good film
SCD - I'm going nuts over potato......
that too!
Though I have to admit that I haven't read the book so I don't know how it compares
i hate the book
always read the book first.... : )
I'm a big fan of long movies that don't seem long, that's why I'm such a big Peter Jackson fan......
I love Tom Hanks and think he is going to be perfect. Haven't seen it though.
I Love long movies!
potato? that reminds me...better go start dinner! back in a bit : )
Loved the book
I'm full of love today can you tell?
brb
the book annoyed the c**p out of me. my son in law loved it and thought i was nuts. so i agree with hurshy. i thought i was the only one.
As to the grid, I find it really annoying that the first word I saw today was 'inundate' - which isn't actually in here!
loved the code, laughed thru angels and demons though.
yeah that one bugs me too punster.
i almost fell off my chair laughing at the helicopter scene in angels. still annoys me today.
now what is this in7 that CHS mentioned...
al7 anyone?
like el7, jen
Funny I loved Angels and Demons too.
TY hurshy! :)
Both of those books I picked up prepared to hate them and see blaspheme. They are just great fictional stories in my opinion.
I'm REALLY, REALLY looking forward to X3 this week.....
i am glad they ran x2 friday. now i know what happened, so i can see x3 now.
the funniest thing was I read Angels and Demons when the current pope was being selected. I kept getting confused between what was going on in the book and what was ont he news<G>
That one looks good too movieman
Personally gonna see X3 this Friday on the first showing on the big screen in Vue
very interesting musicmom
CHS, clue me up on that in7, unless it's really fishy
I have been getting my Clint Eastwood education this week. I had never seen his earlier works.
ooh nvm CHS i finally found it
and, good or bad for cling?
and, good or bad for clint?
hurshy - first three letters of an eskimo +bathroom floor covering
darn and I just wrote a clue
SCD - in+5th vowel+roof slate......
i'm sure people will use them, SMF and CHS
i did thanks. do you know what it is though?
I actually am really enjoying them. Dirty Harry and Outlaw Josie were great. We are in the middle of The Good The Bad and The Ugly
Will probably finish tonight.
yes, smazing, it means useless.
Also watch Paint Your Wagon -- who knew he could sing?
nearly got felatio in this grid.....!!
thanks hurshy
argh! I am missing an a4 and I have no idea what!
Also can't wait for Ultraviolet (Milla Jovovich's newie), Pirates 2, The Omen remake, Superman Returns.....
ok, movieman still needs more 7's people, get on that
Is BJ's list correct today?
a latin plural, jen?
how about a tr7
SCD - Yep, still need 7 more 7's and ALL the 8's.....

sorry too lazy to look up the def of trindle
i did and it's like trundle
i need one more k. something about a large noise. i still don't get it. any other clue?
Punster, I know you don't much like cluez being given out unless you're REALLY desperate, but unfortunately, the damn log can't be turned off.....
I trindled a girdle once. Took ages to get rid of the rash.
yes it can!
OHHHH Okay
Icon of a speech bubble next to 'My Friends'
but we have a new game, folks. when someone puts in a real word by accident we make a sentence building off it, one word at a time.
dachef! lol : D
No whoops got it wrong again, my mind isn't on the game today, had some upsets at home
Punster, that only gets rid of the text box......
sorry punster
everything okay punster?
but you could put it on my friends or something, or you can just make the window smaller, if you really don't want the log.
Anyway, if you don't want to see the chat log, just click on my friends and it will work
seems to me movieman needs one more 8 and a few more 7's...
By the way, punster, how are you doing word-wise?
Yesterday afternoon we received a phone call saying my mother had been rushed to hospital
Correct, SCD - 5 more 7's and 1 8......
I'm still missing two 8 and two 7
is she okay??
God, punster, I hope she's alright.....
Oh my punster. Best thoughts and prayers
boker tov! buongiorno! bonjou!
((((((Punster))))
r
hope she will be ok. punster. Are you able to go and see her?
She was having fits and couldn't remember certain personal details, like phone numbers and such. Apparently at one point she didn't even recognise my dad. They ran a whole battery of tests on her and are still not sure whats wrong. We went in earlier and visited with her and she couldn't remember anything that had happened.
(((((punster)))))
God God, Punster, that has come as a shock, I REALLY hope she gets better......
aww {{{punster}}}, must be a worrying time for you. hope she makes a speedy recovery.
hope they figure out what's going on. Glad that you can be there to see and help her out.
punster, i don't know you but feel so bad for what your are going thru.
punster, i don't know you but feel so bad for what your are going thru.
oh Punster, just logged on. I am so sorry about your mom -- it is so hard on everyone when stuff like that happens. my prayers are with you and your family.

{{{{stid}}}}
And the 7's I already have are the al7, el7, in7, ki7, se7, ti7, & the tr7..... And my 8's: di8, lu8, & the tr8.....
fe6 means "pertaining to declaration of war and peace; heraldic", and the fe8 looks sort of like its plural, but doesn't have a def.
Hi Daisy!
bye see u all tomoz
bye hannah lou!
la7 is pl of la6 that means "Being, relating to, or rigged with a triangular sail hung on a long yard that is attached at an angle to the top of a short mast."
wowie i have hardly any n's. & rally i s/b gardening. 2 weeks of rain has finally ended.
a few precious moments of p & q....
et7 is plural of et6 meaning 6 pointed star
pe7 means "Having feathers or wings."
Punster - So, how are you doing, word-wise?
po7 means to put into verses
Anything else needed?
I didn't start looking at the chat log until I was down to about 90 words - now I'm needing 81
yes, jen, he must need one more i think.
pe7 - i'm assuming the root is writing tool double n - then what?
Typical!!!!!
Yup ;-D
ooo punster, i need 78...race you! : D

on the pe7, the last 4 letters look like a boys name
Aargh, I'm not good under pressure *going faint* but I'll try :S
Okay, this time, I really am leaving. Have a good one all! :)
LOL! I have to go make dinner soon anyway! : D
bye Jen!
Well in that case...You're on!
Still can't get the et7 (star) or the pe7 (feathery).....
LOL! cheater! : P

By the way, can anyone guess who the birthday boy is today......
Heh heh heh!
a rapper?
feathery writing tool plus short form of a biblical name - one of David's sterner prophets.
SCD - correct, keep going.....
or - long abbreviation (?) for the keystone state, consumed.
umm... a dead rapper?
Mr. 714 & counting?
Ooh, SCD, you're almost there....... (I can tell you recognise him)......
run DMC?
okay, under a hundred and off to do some actual work... :-) see you later!
SCD - you're veering off a bit....
well i don't actually know rappers. i just know many have died young.
notorious B,I,G?
His real initials are C.W., but he's more famously known by 2 other names.....
Well done, melonhead.....
L'il Kim's late main squeeze

Yep, that was pretty good, melonhead....

attaboy edmo! that's what we need!
In fact, to honour the 34th anniversary of the great man's birth, I'm gonna play a few of his tunes on my mp3 player.....
edmo do you have the plural of un5/12?
those are FIRST?
how do you tell 1st from 2nd????w
well i just doubt the shoelace ones can be first cause there are 10 u's and there isn't a lot of room after them alphabetically.
oh, alfa, but....how can you know the alfa order if you only have some of da words? me confoosled.
well you can't know for sure unless you have the list (which i don't), but you can make logical guesses like what i just said.
oh, i don't use the word list - what's the point?
ohhhhhhh - logical.
yes, some of us have more fun without the list.
Need help with di8, please?
thinning out jera
di 6 with a nounifying suffix
Lola you're gonna beat me after all *sigh* 'cos I gotta go for a time. If I don't see you later, have a good (rest of) day.
Thanks, forgot about that handy ending!
yw
punster, how many you got left?

*hands punster todays noddy badge....but vows to reclaim it soon!* : D
Bye
hi...need major help with the un6 please!!
What's a noddy badge??
Later, punster, hope your mother makes a good recovery....
I have a un 6 that is a plural of the un5 before it...
only one un6? interesting... someone else asked about "first 6/21"....
bye punster : ) jera, it's sort of a saying we have in SA. Noddy is a kiddies character and the badge is sort of a prize?? hard to explain!
Hi everyone I need that un 6/21 also. The very first one.
We used to have Noddy as a TV when the Sprite was small... she loved it so of course it didn't last long... I was wondering if they were related...
1st un6/21=un+na4/4
how DO they decide what can have un- and what can't???? urf.
jera, noddy was created by enid blyton. one of the UK's most famous childrens authors.
Thak you EDMO :)
thank you, edmo -- there ought to be a law forbidding words like that one...
No kidding Hurshy???
gotta go do the dinner thing, back later : )
Hurshy I wanted undate!!!!

salt and vinegar on potato chips does funny things to your platypi's nasal passages. (after that i got lost.)
aha! babble sentences - a grid of words rather than letters - kind of like the poetry fridge magnets - extra points if you land an iamb.
scribble it's a new game i invented - if someone puts in a word accidentally we make a sentence out of it one word at a time.
Ahhhh... sweet relief... hubby is home with the aloe...
it's a bird, the other li18, often preceded by the word "sweet"
lol, that was an interesting one
Coughs loudly .......I said hello
oh, then what's the vine?
that was very funny...good idea hursh!!
Greetings, caitlyn!

l'hit
l'hit - will it make me cool to say that?

The fe 6/27 has an extra vowel in the midle of the fe 5/16 beforeit.

i mean my last ONE, just found one which was a fishy one!!!
ti 6/18, Hurshy?
oh no, i have ti 6/18, i don't read poirot for nothing! :)
That was going to be my clue!
:)
et 6/18 please?
pl of et5, french star
You do have 4 to words all with the same 4 letters at the beginning , donm't you
there is no et5?
yes ARB
Feather, alas no
oh sorry feather, it's a 6/7 combo, not 5/6, my head went wonky there - but it is french star.
wait, you mean a star in the sky? not a star person?
i did just get it! thanks!
yes the french word for a star in the sky
bout time knowing french instead of spanish comes in handy with a grid
Hurshy, there are 9 to words -- do you have them all?
yes.
shoot, I only know spanish
4 tr, 2 tu
8 ti's
oh, tr is the other box anyway, hehe
ok i need a ti then!
also means ballet star
star1 should know! :)
ugh, got it ARB - PLURAL FISH, good golly.
See that's what you get for playing boggle with no plurals like we do -- I ALWAYS miss the plurals
ty!
i don't usually - but i probably tried putting it in before and typed too fast and hit a wrong key and didn't notice - i go so fast at the beginning that i don't see if they all go in alright.
Morning all. I'm hooked on te--since I cannot fix on a Biblical matriarch (there are so many such) Can an inital bgivwn do you suppose?
the matriarch's husband was also married to her sister, whom he preferred and had worked 7 years for.
Jacob married two
Hetty, there are only 4 women who are referred to as Biblical matriarchs
there really ought to be 5 though - eve should count :)
Thanks Hursh Now for the misspelling---
She's pre-history, pre-covenant etc
I'm hung up on EN's - anyone can help?
al7/28 anyone
Need help with the in7, please?
yeah, i know. still. she's the mother of all matriarchs, heheh.
I have the exhaustion one
i am not getting thematriarch things, none of the 4 names are in there that i can see..
and I have the one that means to contain (as in a document)
jera, in 7 is not useful
en's - boredom, involve, en+a sister, sister twin, en + work, and maybe something else i miss

lest
tyvm nrkii... helped me find the other word as well!
Hetty, Just a student of the Bible -- in Israel, it's considered literature, history, and geography in addition to theology.
the
IRS
comes
a-knocking!
any clues for fe6?
(perfect!)
like the fe 5/16 but add a vowel in middle
file away your receipts after you send your taxes, lest the IRS comes a-knocking. very sound advice.
ok, with those en clues, i got a bit lost...i have all but one en 6/18. i have the boredom one, and the one that says what something contains
indeed
hi everyone - i lfet 89 for myself last night, i think i'm only going to knock off a few & then take a nap :)
feather, I am also stuck on en, can't see the sister bit
"entoad" isn't that what wicked witches do?
featherbee, you have en+work?
Feather, en + to work hard
i think that was maybe spanish for sister? or aunt?
er, which fe5/16?
OH, aunt!!!
yes probably, i just don't know spanish.
Thanks, ARB, as a studnt of theology many years ago I learned Hebrew and had to read the pentateuch in its original masoretic text-- I've never forgotten the powe of those stories. Whether myth, history, metaphor--whatever--matters nor at all. There is truth there
oh, misread my numbers, have that one, sorry
got it, thanks!
lmao, who wants to slap me? i have them all, just wasn't reading my list right! sorry...
ok wait there are two fe 5/16???
do you have the fe8?
Hetty, you send shivers down my spine.
Hursh, there are
hurshy, the second one is the one that leads to the 6 and 8
but that's the one i have
the other one starts like a word meaning DOABLE
Hurshy, f + life of Riley
thanks, thanks, done with F's now!
Arb my love, I didn't intend to affect you. Reminds me of yestrday, when I couldn't think of the word "tingle". Now I've completely lost my own drift--what was i about Jacob's wives anyway?
you were trying to misspell the unloved one.
Thanks, Hursh. I gess it must be a matter of an aitch, there not being one there. I'll try again
Thanks Hurshy, I was going to have to go back to the archived chat to figure out where we were!
misspell worse than that
Good day all, a clue for the in7/32, please?
Hetty, the vowels are different too
useless, chic
Hetty, want a different clue?
Good. I found it by moinkeying around--many thanks, all you gre Biblical scholars
im back to talk
hannah used a WOOOORD
in 7/32 -- useless
okay, I'm still missing one EN, it's one of the first two en 6 words, I have the one that means involve
thanx, Hursh, good clue and I knew that's not what you were calling me...:-)
lol, didn't even think of that chic!
i just got the last one... think of what's on a barn, the tall thing for grain...change the last vowel
then i need an en6 also!
yay, thanks featherbee!
feather, perfect!!!!
welcome!
en 6/18 - to store in a tall round thing on a farm
*hums happily* down to single digits now - 9 to go!
44 left for me
103 for me...
Hurshy, are you grayed out with the k's?
yup. i need 1 a, 1 e, 1 s, 2 p, 4 n
which a?
fe 6/27?
Feather, add another vowel in the middle of the fe 5/16
got it, thank you!
need help with NI words, don't have any
does the 8 work off the same pattern?
yes feather add a pl ending that it doesn't look like it would normally get
ah, ok, thanks
howz ever one
Sorry, all you farm guys, but I haven't a clue what you store grain in-whatever its shape. en6 please?
peri, start with another spelling for opp of DAY
then use first three letters and add first three of "good ***dance" or "get *** of" (throw out)
then change last letter of that one
Don't you store grain in a silo?
yes you do minver :)
featherbee I tried changing the last vowel in silo and none of the vowels worked. Please, another hint?
change it from the 4th vowel to the 2nd vowel
we are talking about the en 6/18, right min?
peri, did you get those NI?
le 6/18?
ooh, got it, nm
Thanks, farmers all
I changed the o in silo to the 2nd vowel e and it says the word was not found in the dictionary. Now what?
minver - it's en+ that, it's not stand-alone
i wasn't talking about a four letter word, i was talking about the en 6/18...just add that word we talked about to the end
min, you are wornking on en, right...
no si, the barn clue about what you store grain in.
it wasn't for any si 4 letter word...it was for the en 6/18 word
minver, the barn clue was for en6
is anyone else finding this puzzle quite hard? heh
oh, sorry! Now I feel really stupid! Kinda new at this.
starts out easy, gets mean.
that's ok min!

Bye Helen
I'm down to 19
laters helenk!
bye helen!
It was fun, Hurshy -- trying to figure out what you would have trouble getting, and then figuring out how to give a "clever" hint
well thanks :)
hello folks, i'm down to 172, nrkii let's race ;)
"latin" was not found in the dictionary?
Thought that WAS the dictionary...
you were very good at it - hardly any wrong guesses!
proper noun
lol jfarber
Remember, I've got an 8 hour head start on you.
yes but your guessing skills are good.
I need an NA 4/5 after the na 4/7. I have the one you hammer.
My wrong guesses were only where you were so good and did have the word.
a classic babblet, nrkii, n with vowels
nrkii, it's a 4/4
ALL the most common babblets are here today except ywis!
yep, it's 4/4, sorry, still typing around to find it...
Ywis are out to lunch today
mmmm.... lunch....
oh my, I almost ran out of combinations on that na 4/4
tx hurshy!
and ARB!
How many Na 4/4's rae there? I have 2.
I mean are...
it's just amazing though that so many are in at once...na4/4, to4/4, et4/4, et4/5
three na 4/4's
lickety said after the flip that from his list of 13 most used babble words that 6 were in this puzzle
i believe it!
does the po 7 build off the po 4 before it ?
yes nrkii
Cadfan, na 4/4 -- a bread from India
Nrkii -- yes it does, think British spelling
i'm going to finish sudoku but i'll pop back and forth
Shalom
I'm back from errands in town. What a joke that trip was. I should have stayed home and babbled.
geez, after the last puzzle i would be ok with no a's at all... no luck there
tx arb!
Can any1 help me w/UL5? I have the 4. Am I missing the obvious?
what is Sudoku? I thought it was another word game.
Ihave the Indian bread, and its plural
Gramma -- add a consonant to the ul 4
I just looked at the website and I just seen numbers.
Good on ya, Cadfan
it's a logic game, minver.
What are the rules of Sudoku? How do you play it? Is it funner than Babble? I think Babble is pretty fun!
ARB, at the end?
Gramma, yes
I'm a bit pouty today - paid for Pro on Friday - but it isn't reflected yet.. so I have no stats and am playing blind.
cadfan, try logging out and logging back in
ARB, ty.
my stats are gone :( anyone know how many words are in the grid today?
246
246 words total
thanks
Hey.. P.S> - I know some of you may recall that my son was in a serious accident last August. Yesterday he was a member of 2 Colorado State finalist relay teams at the Colorado State Track meet.
that is wonderful cadfan! congratulations to him.
That's great news -- sounds like a really complete recovery.
Oh - I'm guessing it's probably a Paypal delay. I'l totally survive - it's just that I finally made the decisoin to spend the money and Im disappointed it takes so long!
Congrats, CadFan. I do remember that and he has a great deal to be proud of!
and i already have 92... only 154 to go
YEs. complete recovery - and what makes his participation in the meet all the more special is that he is only a Freshman.
wow. sounds like a pretty strong-willed person
Cadfan, you can get all the stats using the link to Lickety's site on the bottom of the page.
cad how old is a freshman?
but that's odd cadfan, it's supposed to be instant - you should email the doc. glad about your son!
and woohoo on me!!!!!!!!!!! i did today's hard without marking.
Strong willed.. yes, that would describe Graham - including all the positive and negative that accompany that term
nice one, hursh
Freshman in the US are 9th graders... 14-15 years old - Graham is 15
Hmmm.. I think I'll try the log out log back in again...
thanks. just nosey. ! good for him x
Hurshy, I can't get excited about sudoku -- much prefer word games. I admire anyone with the ability to use logic on no verbal things.
i like babble better than sudoku cause it's always different. sudoku, once you master it, is kinda always the same.
Ah, maybe that's why I lost interest in the 2nd week. It's amazing how it has swept the world -- you find it in the Hebrew papers here, and in the Arabic.
I was just introduced to Babble & now I am addicted to it. How long has this game been on the internet?
a few years, minver.
hurshy, I have 2 to go, can you help?
Does anybody play WEBOGGLE? I like that game too.
of course nrkii
i've played it some minver
I am stuck on the last PO
and a T, but I have to find which one
po6, think of a word for the pope but change the ending
But the words are not worth as many points and it is a timed game. Alot more pressure for a lot less points
that and the site isn't as good - it hangs up a lot and there's no chat...
and it's not as PRETTY
nrkii -- po 6/21 -- Sophia Loren's husband's last name + consonant
hurshy and arb, thank you!
I believe that it would be hard to chat on Weboggle since you have no time to chat when playing it.
now just missing a ta 4/4 to finish
What's the first name of Sophia Loren's husband? Is he famous?
ta + 7th note of the scale
DONE! (was so excited I typed DONE in the add word box first)
Carlos, I think
huzzah nrkii!
lol nrkii :)
YEAH Nrkii
that's true minver. but also if it's going to be timed i don't like that people can play as teams.
I just googled it. Her husband's first name is Carlo.
oh my, well I still have the NYT Sunday crossword to do , and the DaVinci Eurostar quest -- my day is far from over!
thanks for all your help, especially ARB and Hurshy!
today is a very exciting day for me
Ignore my ta hint -- it's 10:30 p.m. here
hurshy, why?
yw
because you get to chat with all of us?
Hurshy, why?
So how does that work?Is it a bunch of people sitting around one computer with one person typing?
because *shame* i watch "charmed" regularly, even though it's really not a good show, but i can't stop! and tonight is the LAST EPISODE EVER and i will finally be free!!!!
ooh, yes hurshy, this is very important to me too
i dunno minver, that's what i would imagine.
Hey All, hows it going tonight ?
hello aussie
be proud of your guilty pleasures hurshy
Poor me, I have no idea of what you are talking about -- we getAmerican TV a year later.
fine and dandy aussie.
hi aussieme
Good to hear it
Hi Aussie -- it must be tomorrow there already
anyone care to know the icon themes for the coming week?
it's just, nrkii, i sit there and i watch and i go "this is so stupid! that doesn't make any sense!" and yet i can't not watch. so i am glad it is ending.
Ok, which tomorrow ARB ?
What is it, hursh?
tomorrow is DAIRY PRODUCTS
I hear ya! how many times are they going to kill the same demons --- sheez!
moo?
Theme for Sun 21 May - Dallas / Dynasty Theme for Mon 22 May - Dairy Products Theme for Tues 23 May - Our Own Artwork Theme for Weds 24 May - 70s Cop Shows Theme for Thurs 25 May - Desperate Housewives Theme for Fri 26 May - Sitcoms Theme for Sat 27 May - Soap Operas Theme for Sun 28 May - Before They Were Famous
You could play Babble like that also. Who is to know who is with you helping you find words? It is kind of like getting clues or hints from the chat log, right?
it's very important that as many people as possible participate in DAIRY PRODUCT day
I'm Sunday 10:30 p.m. you must be Monday -- for me tomorrow
well but we all get hints from each other minver, so that is different, we know how it works. i don't want to be just me on my own on weboggle competing against 5 people somewhere together.
I'm Sunday 8:34 pm, not into monday yet, wish I was though
Eat cheesecake?
hurshy, I will go looking for my dairy icon now
lol, ARB, if you like, but i mean have a DAIRY PRODUCT in your icon.
Aha -- with a screen name of Aussieme, I assumed you were Australian. Silly me.
I get your point Hurshy, that is true.
hmmm, hursh why is this so important to you?
it was noble's theme suggestion and he'll enjoy seeing all the dairy products.
What are these themes you are talking about. Does every Babble board have words to a certain theme?
And I must sadly admit (hangs head in shame) that I cannot distinguish the various flags of the former British Empire
No, born and bred there, but live in UK...... Lived here most of my life, whereabouts are you ARB?
no minver - the little pictures we pros have, our icons, we have themese for those.
it's the theme we use in our icons, minver. just for fun.
if the grid related as well, we would have had "salacious" today.
I am in Tel Aviv, Israel. I live 5 minutes from the Mediterranean, 1 minute from the City hall, in the middle of the city.
how did you come to live in israel, arb?
Oh, haven't upgraded to pro yet. I do not feel like I can upgrade to pro since I am far from a pro at this game. Maybe next year I'll be able to upgrade to pro.
lol, you get more clues for being pro!
minver, it's just a matter of $15. lots of "pros" kinda stink at the game actually. i name no names.
I thought that I was pretty good at word games, but you guys blow me away! I have a long way to go now!
Sounds like a busy place to be then ARB..... Feeling bloated right now, be back in a jiffy, need to get some juice !!
36 years ago, we decided to try it -- moved from MArin county in California with our 3 daughters. Still trying it, I guess.
That's a beautiful area ARB! I love Tel Aviv!
pro may be a 'mis-nomer' - pro addict would probably describe the condition better....
i hear ya, dippnall!
it just means we're pro-babble :)
is it $15 now? i think i only paid $10
yes it was $10 when i joined too but the price went up
I paid $14.95, not a bad price when you convert it to £ sterling !!
It's a lively city -- calls itself the city that never sleeps; lots of music, theater, sun, and beaches, along with occassional scuds
Hursh, we got a bargain
ooh, aussie, how did you get the pound symbol in there?
How do you get more clues? I've just upgraded and all I've gotten are the tile stats. Can you tell me how you all know which tile starts a word ? I seen where someone will say the e on the first row...how do they know? HELP!!!
rebdickers, you might enjoy reading "hurshy's guide to boxes - click on my icon.
alet
The £ symbol ? Its on my keyboard !!
Yes, that's me! I am definitely an addict or a nerd or maybe both. Basically, I just have no personal life!
oh no fair i want one!
Its above my number 3
rebdickers - for second letter values click on Lickety's babble clues (under friends of babble) at the bottom of the page.
reb, like, the first box says n 3/6 or whatever. that means there are 6 words that start with n, and you have three
it's easier if you right click on those links and then open them in a new window and minimize them. You don't have to click back and forth.
Probably right above the 4 - where I have a $ - that never occured to me before!!!
Hurshy, try typing on a German keyboard -- the letters are slightly changed and it makes for an interesting text
yep - join the rest of us - I've been tied up for several days and suffered the most dreadful withdrawal symptoms..
lol
for americans the £ is alt+ 0163
I have the $ sign above my number 4
nothing happened. :(
Thanks....!
hold down alt and type the numbers in the numpad.. sorry, should've specified
you might have to put it into word and then copy and paste, hursh
OH... the 3.. above that in the US we heve a # (which is also a pound sign!)
it doesn't work from the numbers above your letters ^^
Keep the alt button down while you key in all the numbers and then release
£
YAY!!!!!
/cheer
hurshy, how'd you do it?
thanks cehess!
So, do they have this website in different languages?
Hey, it worked on mine too, I tried it..... hold down Alt, then press 0163, its cool
Welcome ^^
oh, i'm on a laptop w/ no number pad... no pounds for me!
um, someone copied it in danish or dutch minver...
my computer just yells at me when I do that
so how many $ in a £ right now? :) :)
I had that issue too Leslie.. and buying a usb numpad attachment doesn't fix it, btw. I wasted money finding that out. =)
Oh, drats for LeslieAnn !! cant you copy ans paste it somewhere if you want it ?
Leslie,I think you can use the numbers on the top of the keyboard and it'll work too
i can't do a pound... SAD
well i can certainly copy and paste it from the log: £
Anyhow, I'm not sure, I think it cost me £7.50 sterling for Pro-Babble, still not bad !!
i always wondered, cehess, why when i looked at the character map it would say those alt codes and i couldn't get them to work - now i know to use the number pad.
you can do lots of things from the character map, leslie.
Guess what guys ??
what aussie!
Lesliue, scratch what I said -- it doesn't work.
'sok
5 more days till my baby comes !!!!! C-Section on Friday 26th !!!!!!!!!
© 1980
hehe, hurshy's having fun.
hey, that's me, i'm copyright 1980
COOL! my sister had one on Friday night! What're you having?
me too leslie!
wassup, Little Girl !!
that's great aussie! post a baby picture as soon as you get home!
I will post one guys, dont worry
that's what we had! (we meaning my sister)
do you have a name yet?
You can use ASCII codes (ALT plus whatever) in most programs, but they don't function in games...
Georgia Grace
oooh name her meredith
Sarah is a good name... :)
oh yeah i think you said that before, i forgot
oh that's very pretty, aussie
site
although my sister's middle name is grace, it's more of a joke in the family now :)
oh, i missed the name you posted. that's really pretty aussie
Hurshy, I am now officially ready for Dairy Products theme tomorrow
Thanks, that's my name! (Sarah)
haha you're a cheesehead!
good going nrkii :) i have several... don't know what to use!
I feel like an idiot!! I've just realized that the tile stats below are in the EXACT same place as the rid above! It all makes sense!
I mean grid!
that's funny leslie. i have a friend who's middle name is grace. she's so clumsy that it's really ironic. we always tease her about her middle name.
**grins** ..... My Grandma's name was Grace, so middle name after her..... Listen, I have to pop off for a bit, Hubby due homw from work soon, have to get something for him to eat...... Will be back soon.....
yes, but rebdickers, if it looks like a word can start in more than one place, and you want to know where it counts... read "hurshy's guide to boxes".
Mine too minveryork!
my name is nancy, which means "grace"; mom's name is the same, and we're the two clutsiest people I know
neat
shouldn't HE be getting YOU something to eat, aussie!
bye aussie! good luck with the c-section if we don't see you before then
maybe it's a curse... :)
bye aussie!
Nah, he works 10 hour shifts, I'm not hungry right now, feel as big as a house !!
nrkii, you and your mom have the same name?
lol, so that means that annoying lady on cable news, nancy grace, her name is redundant.
yeah, different middle names though
see you all soon, will be in before friday, I know I will !!!!!
hurshy, pretty much
did that get confusing at your house?
yes, we answer the phone the same way
as lorelai said - men do it all the time, why shouldn't women?
so it got really bad when I was job hunting, and people would call my house
I had to tell them to ask for NANCY JUNIOR (kind of humiliating)
lol
my dad named me -- mom thought she couldn't have a girl, so she made a deal that he could name me if I was a girl
i gotta go too. major lack of caffeine headache. i need to make some coffee. Then we're off to costco to look at patio furniture. :) Yeah!
by wassup!
bye, that is
that's sweet nrkii
bye wassssssssssup
ok, leaving. :)
bye
I was going to be gilbert if a boy and my dad named me -- so my mom was trying to spare me
Does anybody live in Westchester County, New York

ah, hetty, that's a Babble regular--it's a U-turn in the top left corner of the grid
an6/21 adds a vowel to the end of a word that declares a marriage invalid.
it's an old term for "anoint"
thanks, haz!
you're welcome! I love your icon, by the way, Uneaixoise.
et 7\28?
thanks, haz, it's Derby, my mom's goofy springer!
et7/28 is plural French for star. E plus to6/18
plural of et6/18 french word for star
Derby may be goofy, but he is handsome!
I've done the uturn to no avail. And, dear Haz, I thank you from my heart. Do YOU understand Uni's U-turn clue?
did you also see that it's an old word for "anoint"?
evening

fe5/16 with a vowel in the middle
i haen't got 1 f =(
an extra vowel, that is
theres only 2 an5/10
hetty - the anointing an5/10 IS the turnaround one that une was talking about. The only other an5 is a 5/12 relating to the invalidation of marriage.

maude plural of tr 7 just before it
sorry for repeats lol
plural of tr7/32--take the word for a bed that slides under another bed and change the third letter (vowel)
thx guys
Thanks Hax. I guess that's me sorted. The troyble is my inability to put words in order as I go--I'm always confusing the points because I have them in my own list in a different order. You are wonderfully patient with me. If I were your dog I'd be licking you to pieces. Thanks Oggi, too
in 7\32?
Sigh of relief all round, hetty!
in7 french word for useless
Thanks UNi. I kiss your feet
in + ut5/12
LOL, Hetty!!
ty une
:-D
Biggest sigh here. I'm resolved not to ask for clues again without checking my list against Lickety's Only you super-dooperplayers have persuaded me to avoid the list if at all possible. . .
Not I--I use the list, Hetty! (after giving it my best shot)
hetty - PLEASE disregard anyone trying to discourage you from using the list. I use it all the time and get thoroughly annoyed with those who try to bully others into doing without it!
hetty i use the list as well
da 6/21 anyone?
no-6/18
Good morning all. Hetty i love the list, my kids and hubby love it. I think it would be impossible without it. I think this game is challenging as it it. Don't listen to the "none user's" ha ha.
Now I feel a whole lot better. You really know how tosoothe a furrowed brow. Lots of an***ing going on today
onyx angela says to meet her at 5
reena add a suffix to no 4/4 OR think of a verb indicating spin - then change first letter
kris, it's the unit of money in Gambia
LIST - I start withuot it and usually try to get min 20-30% wihout the list. I'd never finish w/out the list or at least not in reasonable time
Good morning Svet - and hetty, glad we've restored a measure of calm!
im struggling here. can someone help me out?
talk
what u need Lara
Haz is that a photo of yourself?
Yes, Svet, it is.
like in ta 4/8?
ki 7\48?
thanks andy.... i need the i words
You look very cosy in that jumper, i love the cowl and high nech ones. It's 9 degrees here in Melbourne, best i put one on.
clues
Sadly, even though it's summer here, I could probably still wear it!
which one(s) Lara?
I got tehm all
good grief - no one should feel pressured into not using the list! we all like to play different ways, nothing wrong with that. i do tend to play about it, saying BE LISTLESS! and such, but that's just to be playful... i tout it because i enjoy it, just like i tout edy's whole fruit sorbet...but i never imagined it would make anyone feel like they had to do without the list unless they enjoyed that as well. is that why you've seemed annoyed with me haz?
svet what part of melbourne are u from. i have family in melbourne
well im new at this... so how do i say... the second line one?
hmm...couldn't figure out the monetary unit...when I search it online, it is note a da word. thank you though une!
one of the two "i" words I didn't know was a word until I tried it and it worked
Yeah that weather you have is very similar to us her. We get a lot of people from England in Melbourne.
think of a kiddie word for urinating without the first letter
Lara we ujse the ta 4/8 format i.e. how many letters / how many points for each word
by second I assume you want id 5/12 - it is conjugation (3rd person) of id 4/4 which means do nothing
Heidelberg, it's South East i think. I have lived all over though oggy.
oy andy... i have no idea what that means?!?!?!
got all KIs
ok hold on , let me get this straight..
i have family in victoria
I'm following about 50% of this code that's being used to hand out clues... so don't feel bad Lara
It's worse when you sorta get what's being said
LA 7\28
Victoria is the state that Melbourne is in, Melbourne being the capital of the state that is.
k explain what ojad0 just meant andy!! maybe then i wil get it
lara - one of the i's from the second row is a greek letter or a small amount of something, io4/4. and the other is il4/4, and it sounds like the deltan lady from star trek the motion picture...if you like start trek...
sorry, bayswater.
ojad plural of la 6/18 LA + age betwwek kids adn adults
la 7/28 is a word that starts with la, has seven letters and is worth 28 points.
Lara he menat a word starting with LA, word with 7 letters and word with 28 points value
Each letter has a point same as in scrabble
the four letter words are worth the point values as they appear on the tiles, but for fives you double it, for sixes you triple it, and so on.
huhi hurshy are we reading each other minds?
lol, andy - just the posts, i'm sure. :)
Oh yeah i know it around there, it's a fair way away from here, that is about 40 drive, that's quite far.
ty i got it now
how do you know the word starts with LA? i cant tell
any help on hte ki46 or ki7
I think that's because they already figured the word out..... that's the part that was throwing me too
40 minutes i meant to say.
Lara we use a list of words, click on the Liskety's Bable Clues link under the grid and you'll see it
there are two places to get a list of all the words in that format, licketysplit's page, or brandjack's list on babbler's anonymous.
dont do start trek... but will keep guessing, thatsd the one i cant get
lara - you could probably google "star trek motion picture deltan" and get it
it's hard to think of another clue for that one.
haz - are you still there? did you see my post before?
svet ive been a few times, its hell of a flight.
lintal
andy, i do not see this liskety thing... thanks hurshy, will do so
ki words - nice, start a fire, starts fire, thing you fly with a string
lickety is in the middle of the links at the bottom of the page lara
thanks hursh
I came to Oz about 24 years ago as an 8year old, that was reallt tiresome. I never want to leave. Perhaps a holiday.
the links to these resources are at the bottom of the page - angelsong's page has them all gathered together so you can check that out.
it's in the second column at the bottom of the page in the "Friends of Babble" links
OH
Svet, I love hearing about Melbourne;. We have a dughter living with her family in Fremantle, and though we often visit we never seem to get to the east . Folk dont realize how BIG Australia is--for us going to Sydney from Perth is oli9ke going from Seattle t New York, or from Vancouver to Toronto
all clear lara?
nu 6\21?
hurshy - I hadn't but have read it now. I don't know whether it is just me, but I do feel that you emphasise the benefits of 'listlessness' to such a degree that people feel that they should do without, whether they enjoy it or not. I do use the list, as do many others and don't like being made to feel inferior because I do.
Yeah it's big and you don't see it untill all you see is land for hours when flying. So much space that we can't use, so hot in some area, no water.
any clues for the te 6/18?
andy... thank you. not all clear yet! will keep fiddling. you have helpd alot thoug
Dax add a consonant to the te 5/10 jut b4 it or
well i don't think you should feel inferior, and i really would be boggled if people actually avoided using it when they didn't want to.
t + a tool for an artist
my pleasure Lara, ask anything you want
I did the same when I started here
nu6 - like an mu6 (not in puzzle) that means to change - like the teenage ninja turtles did...
It seems as though the clue format in the "chatterbox" sems incumbent upon using "licketysplit's" first and second letter clue format
you can't really figure out one without the other
im off to bed, be back 2morrow. larl see u 2morrow
see ya oggy
it actually started as Brandyjack's list:http://p105.ezboard.com/fbabblers anonymousfrm2.showMessage?topicID=6.to pic
clues for pe 7\32 please
yayahoho- you can't usually ask for clues in that format without the list, no.
i like to go listless as long as possible, as a challenge to self. but there's no shame in using a list or getting clues. play as you want. it is a game after all. noting to feel pressured about, that would be a mite silly.
pe5/12 and add "consumed food"
Not sure if I even wanted to know there is a word that rhymes with what the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles did... new words I never heard of before freak me out sometimes
by oggy
Hurshy, I'm beginning to feel responsible for a rumble in he ranks, and I'm sorry. You have never intimidated me with your "listless"ness--i fact I founit rayther estimable but I myself suggested I would use the term "unlisted" for when I was trying to see words unaided. I shall still try to do that, but in fture shall be less twitchy abut point values etc. Youhave always been most helpful to me.I think we should all play however suits us best and rely as always on the eadiness of fellow players to rescue us in times of trouble.
oh no, yaya - you're on the right track already by putting in the word i left out.
I guess the question is "Do I want to learn new words from this game, or see how well I can find the words I already do know." I'm gonna go mediate on this for a few years....
see yuo everyone gotta go shopping, no milk, no bread, no beer - empty fridge - be back later in the evening
yaya - i left out "mutant" for a reason - it's related to a word that means to change - it's a thing that has changed, right? and the nu rhymes with it.
Yaya, some of the a"new
hetty - it's not your fault. really. most things in babble are my fault.
words" you will find through this game ou will never ever use.
Is it's meaning close to the word for becoming a mutant? Or does it just rhyme and mean something totally diff?
se 7\28?
I've never heard of it before, but now it's on My Word List for better or worse.
the n word, i don't know what it means, i didn't bother looking it up.
you can click on the ? next to it for a definition.
Now Hursh. I insist on taking responsibility for the little exchange of opinion--in itself enlightening and nurturing of the fellowship, so there
rock, sway, or nod; usually involuntarily
oh, didn't know about the ?, thanks
I'm stuck on the al 6/21...anyone feeling especially nice since I suspect it could be easy?
hey hursh - didn't know what the question mark was - thanks!!
i guess it may be enlightening and nuturing...you can take credit for anything good hetty. for me it's one more in a long list of things i've done to annoy people without meaning to.
kristin - it's not - last name of astronaut buzz.
virtual fireworks for me (hope they come back at some point!)
kristinc, you need t start with the4th letter (alpha) and add mostof what happens when you press a doorbell
oh good hushy...that was a weird one, thanks!
i like ya hurshy
i like ya too
thanks also hetty ;)
thanks
dal
i give up, still have another 90 and i'm so tired with such long ones, see you tomorrow and hopefully it will be alot smaller
nighty night everyone
goodnight scatty, take care!
I'm missing one of three ke 4/8s
Is that the right way to ask a clue?
hurshy, you're the best
yes, yaya. one sounds like what you use to unlock your door
I have the boat part and the really interested one
and I envy your ability to work without the list -- best I can do is about 50% with no help (no tile stats or clueing in chat) and 70-80 with no list.
HI I am back....can anyone help me with the an5s and an6. I have the last an5, but am missing the others.
well nrkii, that's about how i did today.
jee, for the an 6, add a vowel to the an 5 you have
I have 88 and checked list once to see how it works, just to know the first tw letters I was missing.... but I don't think I'm getting much more on my own.... have slowed way down
nrkii means add a vowel to end a marriage sans divorce.
anyone have the al 7
hi nrkii and JeeWhiz!
and then there is the first 5/10, add the beginning of a big grey animal
my big weakness is keeping out of the chat when I'm trying to go on my own... the chat is entertaining, so it's hard not to read along
al7 is just like el7, which means joy
ah, thanks...I tried that marriage one earlier, but didn't double the consonant.
but last night, about 4 minutes into the chat, someone was already asking for help on the 9, so I turned it off
hi Kristin
you are the best hursh
nrkii...yeah I like to wait at least until the next day to break down and beg for clues
hi kristin!
hi hi guys
Hey kristin, nice to meet ya.... wife and I are moving to Tacoma in a year
Hurshy, on the one with the gray animal, am I starting on the second or third row a?
hiya yaya...where are you now? I love the northwest. Been here almost 2 years, moved from Portland OR area.
second row, jee.
hi everyone. Back for some more torture with this grid. Whats with the large grey elephant?
nyc, would move to Portland if we wanted another city city, but am looking for something a little less citylike
Tacoma or Olympia
havent' decided yet
aise
thanks Eva, I was thinking wolf, which obviously didn't work in this grid.
sorry,sorry,sorry
hurshy, btw, I saw what you meant about reading back through the chat logs to better understand all the goings on -- it's never quite as black and white as people suggest I guess
np np np
your welcome, but what' s it a clue for
an5/10, first one
not at all, nrkii. much happens in the world of babble.
yeah...we're here for my husband's job but agreed, I like being able to go into the city but also being out a big. Right now we're in Seattle proper but in a nice neighborhood so sometimes I forget :)
hmmmmm
"These...are the days... of our Babble"
lol, it is a bit soap-like at times i guess.
"The Edge of Babble"
"All my Babblers"
"As the Grid Turns"
"One LIfe to Babble"
eva :)
Desperate Babblers
"As the Grid FLIPS" :)
SantaBabblers

all my babble, i will clue to you, all my babble, fireworks are cool...
Eva, an + first part of large gray animal...(Hurshy clue)

fe8 - totally new clue - start with a little obsession people can have (sexual connotation...), minus last 2 letters, then add al4 (beers)
it goes both ways(-:
dax, it's what you put in your engine
also used on teeth
se7 - it can be caulk around your sink, or something to protect your molars from getting cavities.
se 7 = cute water animal + picnic insect

it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon -- great for walking
good for you musicmom
I need to do that to finish:-))
musicmom, are you anywhere near Mason, OH?
al728 and the al5/10 before it pleeeease?
I could have done the 5 miles but I was walking with one of my Kindermusik moms. She needed help with her 3 year old and 10 month old. They couldn't do the whole way
bonkler, al 7 is like the el 7
al7 is the same as your el7
and al 5 is similarly parallel
Nrkii -- I am about 2.5 hours from Mason. I grew up about 45 minutes from there in Fairfield. Why? Are you there?
thanks nrkii
my brother and family are in Mason
you betcha bonk
We head that way frequently because my mom is still in Fairfield
I haven't been to visit yet, but I know they really love it out there.

It is a beautiful place to live

bye kristin and bonkler
boy, trying to access the chat log from earlier in the day, since the format change, is really a losing proposition. Most of the time I end up having to force quit. Too bad, because I really used to enjoy floowing the thread of conversation and clues
bye kristin!
bye bonkler!
eva - i find that it appears to freeze up the program but that if i just wait long enough, it comes through ok. these days computers are so super-speedy i'm not used to that! :)
I usually open a second browser window and let it do its work there
I've waited quite a long time, but now that I know that it stalls out on you too, I'll give it more time
yes, of course, a second window
Does anyone have a handy list of the 7's that they'd like to share?
If it feels too early for that kind of list, feel free to tell me. I don't want to spoil the hunt for anyone else.
al, el, et, in, ki, la
pe, po, sa, se, ti, tr
what's wrong with seitan?!
Thank you guys for the fe8, i finally got it, what a chore that was.
thanks nrkii!
sa7 and da6/21 please and thanks?
eva - i wouldn't worry about asking for that sort of thing - if anyone doesn't want to be seeing stuff- as i don't when i start out - they can hide the chat log.
jee, SA = condiment + picnic pest
Thanks for the reassurance hurshy.
Thanks Nancy, I figured it might have that seasoning.
Yeah - don't worry about it Eva.
da 6/21 green lettuce stuff backwards, then vowel.
da 6/21 = salvador DA** with "** the world turns" in the middle
nice hurshy!
Okay, that is one strange word. Thanks for the interesting clue Hurshy.
that one really makes us get creative - i like yours nrkii!!
yes, tough to clue that and no fish anywhere in site for those not getting it
Yeah, where are those s and re words today? Kind of miss them when they are gone.
wow needed that clue thanks!
but we have the tions today jee
Not me Jee --- happy to only see one r word
As long as there are a few suffixes and prefixes, I am happier.
and the les's
hello again folks, does anyone have the ni 6's?
that's me, i'm a les
!!
ni6 start with 3 letter word for some little annoying thing

NU6/21?
ni 6/21 please.
Svet, ni6/21 is like ni6/18; change the last letter to a 4th alpha
does anybody elses stats do what mine do?
Thanks hetty.
Minski, Nu6/21 you just add the second part of MU**** (as in Ninjahs
what do your stats do shorty?
nu 6 is like the teenage mu**** ninja turtles, only make it a verb
lol, great minds hetty
Thanks for the Nu.
You and me both, Leslie Ann. I'm in goodly company
ok Im done and it says I still need 124 4 letter words
how about a clue for the la7?
1 I have 125/5 letter words and theres only 66
la not child not adult, somewhere in the middle.
eva, another word for bathroom, a la*****, take out the r
eva la 7/28 is la + a word fro person past child's age but net yet adult, plural
and plural
yep
64 6 letter words and theres 39
thanks everyone-great group effort!
it says I have a 10 letter word and there are none!
shorty, either you are the smartest woman alive, or you have a really weird glitch
how about the et and the in 7's?
its been doing that for the last 3 days
e + to 5/10 and plural
et 6/18 - french for star et 7 is plural
thanks-so random whichfrench words are legit and which not
not only that Eva but "latin" is NOT a word
and, as I mentioned before, seitan is not allowed, and it is absolutely a word. Don't like eating it, but should be able to enter it for the grid
It insists that everything like "latin" is a proper noun
oh i've never heard that word before, eva, i thought you were just having fun. what is it?
seitan, not latin
in,7. please
Svet, French for useless
seitan is a gluten based non-meat protein source, used sort of like tofu by vegetarians. You can google it
in plus ut5
Thanks again andy, for the second french word
so much french, so little time
de rien madamme
hello everyone...i've been playing for awhile, and i've never finished one. i was going to make this my first...i am getting frustrated
sorry i don't know french and i only have one ut an dthat's he one to undo.
this is a hard one to start! how many do you have left, rant?
j'ai pas parle francais depuis longtemps, et j'ai oublie beaucoup, mais je peut comprendre des choses faciles
the ut 5 is u + ti 4/4, svet
that's too embarrasing too say, leslie :)
Eva - you are doing much better than I
but it's the first night i've had with no distractions
fair enough. just ask if you want clues, though.
me too, eva.
thanks :)
When I went to school the only choices for foreign languages were French or Latin....not very useful these days
rant, do you know about the resource links at the bottom of the page that can provide you with lists, etc?
thank you Les got it.
mab--yes, i might use it...trying not too yet
agreed Eva but Latin isa foundation for all western European languages
now if there were german words in the gird, I'd be completely lost.
yes-I wouldn't mind taking it now
speaking of which, i just spent about 10 minutes finding the la 5/18!
what stops you Eva?
er wait, i think that's mediterranean
other things I'd rather do with my time, but also tried learning Spanish a couple of years ago and found the memorization part much, much harder at 56 than it was at 16! Also, without a situation in which to use it frequently, it just doesn't take. When I studied french I was in class 5 days a week and then lived in france for 4 months.
i'm having trouble with this grid, just generally. Just one of those days, i expect.
mab-I think it's an exceptionally difficult grid
My back is really beginning to hurt, so I dont think I;m going to be able to stick with this for much longer.
it's good to know it's not just me, Eva.
Andy, where is Calgary?
agreed Eva, learnig a language MUST entail frequent usage otherwise it is no good. I lived in Spain for 2 years 1989-1991 and while I spoke nearly perfect Spanish (as per my ex-girlfriend) I am uite rusty today, Can undersatnd 99% but cannot speak properly anymore
Eva - western Canada - just noth of Montana, 60 muinutes from the best skiing in the world - am going skiing tomorrow (last day of the season)
also oil capital of Canada, think Houston North lol
in mid-may! it must be pretty cold up there
My Hebrew had also gotten to a point where I could get along quite well, when I was going to Israel regularly, but now I get incredibly tongue tied and self-conscious when I try to speak
nope it is 80 outside
but mountains we go to are 8000 feet
pshaw, the best of both worlds, then
yep - a small city (1 million) - ;perfect nature for hking / slkiing - hey my 4 year old daughter can ski by herself
Must be beautiful there! Always wanted to do the Northwest. And take the Trascanadian railway. We're about 2 hours from Montreal, in Vermont. Waiting for snow tonight.
My hebrew is hopeless. Can read, but very little sticks.
been to Vermont Eva, when I lived in Ottawa. Beautiful state.
reading is good. Do you read biblical Hebrew or modern?
Ancient Hebrew, for the most part. I need those vowels.
i'm getting PO'd and the po's. Any help for po 7/32 and po 6/21?
Funny how the absence of vowels stopped bothering me at some point. But my grasp of the tenses is pretty rudimentary. Also, having grown up without it, the gender stuff in Hebrew, Spanish, etc is odd
i only have 6/21 - po + u**** we meet again - drop the u
dax-po7/32 is the verb form for creating verse
ok... anger subsiding..... for now. thx leslieann
good night everyone.
good night Eva
al 5/10/s i have the mans name + letter. there are 3 together and i don't have the other 2. please some help.

Guten Abend, everyone. My daughter just asked me a question that one of you Scrabble lovers out there can answer, I hope. What happens if the player opening the game doesnt have any vowels to make a word? ti 5/18 is a herbal tea, ti + sa 4
ti plus sa4, an infusion of herbs, etc, like a tea.
yw jeffer ti 6/18 = ti + good menatl health (adj)
te 6/18 is te 5/10 preceding with a stick added
ty inge

CWMS, and other Welsh concoctions
CRWTH
WOW! Down to 4 - HELP ANYONE? di8,50 - fe8,55 - lu8,45 - sa9,54
rumple, make a noun out of the di 6 for the di 8
In Scrabble, as far as I know, a person has to play with the tiles they have or turn them in & forfeit the turn, no matter what the conditions. Erda's showing examples of non-vowel "words" -- just make sure they're in whatever dictionary the players are using :) Or else make up a "house rule" to cut some slack, but don't expect outside players to agree ;)
sa 9 is a greeting without the u
UPDATE on my Grandson who was hit yesterday on his Harley. He has a broken hand, stitches in his forehead, banged up knee and LOTS of skin burn, slid 300 feet. I just gave him gentle hugs, so glad he is alive.

there are many places in Jersey that are lovely. I am looking forward to Jersey tomatoes & sweet corn!
So, I'm short one in5--the first one before the word truncated from tinkling cymbals. Also have mysteriously lost my li5 and li6--the vine ones I supose
an 4/4 - before the an5 /12 (void) , but not the dye one.
li5 = walk down a country L***, but put an I in second space
Ping, the di8 is what happens when you water some strong liquor down--you then get a di******

aaaah, thank you
feather, the other one is like pertaining to the nose, but with an extra vowel (see si 4/4)
yeah, i remember checking the theme...figured you must be getting a head start
an 5/10 = an 4/4 plural (against)
jeffer, the first an5/10 sounds like going down on your knees
