ARB! How are you and your family??
shalom arb - we were just talking about you
hi arb. how are you tonight? or today?

Hi mymuse and helen! and Debb!
We are all fine. My daughter is busy being a spokesperson for the State Dept and my officer , but all are fine.son-in-law is never home
ARB, I want you to know that we've decided that you need regular check in times so that no one will worry. :D
good to hear arb. all but the part about your son in law never being home. :)
And tonight's phantom words are: "monkey" and "crayon"
I usually come on at this time -- it's 8 a.m. in Israel and I sip my coffee and work on the grid for a while. If i don't finish, I come on later in my day.
mine is canyon
ARB, please stop trying to reassure us with mere logic. It won't work.
Hello ARB. Good to hear your news - do keep in touch regularly as we are all thinking of you constantly during these dreadful times.
thats what i thought arb - a right after the flip
boker tov & Laila tov, ARB - i'm quitting @ 36 - tough grid.

ok - let's see if that break will do me any good :)
goodnight melon, halfway...good job.
i know. there's crap all over the apartment. i have ten minutes to clean before i leave, thus i babble
melon - does that mean you're staying now?

Morning all Sneaky grid today but fun so far.
nite, debb
Good morning FMitch - I'm an early bird today! Too warm to sleep, plus Spangle wanted out of her kennel.
Morning Haz, it's going to be a warm one today!! How are you finding the grid so far or have you just started?
I've been going for a little while. It's tricky but some nice words emerging.
I keep thinking the words are about to dry up and then I spot another one.
Done! goodnight!
I think when it's a smaller word total you don't feel under the same pressure to find words quickly. Most of mine are individuals, just one sequence so far.
Good night wassup.
Would that be the 3c's Haz?
What - no 'liony'?
The three c's indeed.
limon
'Cos enable lives in a world of it's own Student!
Although, I suppose the ey4 words should count.
I hate O words.
Funnily enough I was just looking at the o's I have managed 1 so far.
I've got 2....
i have three
the only one i found that made any sense was the plural of mining-stuff. the others have just been typing-characters at semi-random...
lol thanks felton, didn't have that one yet
I got 27 words, and am stuck. Darn it.
O should be like Q. It should come with a second letter. Much easier.
Thanks, now I have 2 x o!!
yono
I am finding the O's much easier than the Y's.
I am finding the O's much easier than the Y's.
one is a large body of water
thank you! that was the one i was missing! :)
how many Y words does everyone have?
i am still missing one o
thanks for those o's!! Hi Munner
oy4/6 comes off the top o twice
i only have 2 thatre what hold oxen. clues?
hi there FMitch
yo4/6 - days of old, yo4/6 add opposite of out, but reverse the letters
Morning all.......another beautiful day has dawned......and a new grid too......
Good morning Flask1. It is lovely today, but so warm!
graicias! :)
Those are the same three yo words that I have.
yes Haz......too hot for me am afraid...:(
Morning Flask
Just monkeyed this one: y 4/10 sounds like the Chinese stir-fry cooker
Thanks Munner - or a new breed of animal?
Well found Munner.
the toy yoyo doesn't count. cries
yay have both of the sevens
if you have one, the other is a vowel off
ey4/6 and ey5/14 - looks like a literary heroine's surname, but are apparently circuit courts held by mediaeval itinerant judges in England. Educational game or what?
LOL
ye4/10 and pl - sounds like "To throw or toss with a quick abrupt motion" or "A dull and stupid person"
Morning. What a strange grid today. First time I've seen four y's.
Beautiful description, thank you.
hi everyone
hi Jemma444
Hello

Clues to what? You must mention a word, such as r5/18 for us to give you a clue!
LOL hydra - there are too many y's, o's, c's and e's!!
Got everything between the as and y's. Two boxes left. Not bad for sleepless in Atlanta.
adam se4/8 top right hand corner what you have to do to find words
Clues pls
Anyone Clues pls
Clues pls
adam - start by looking for 4 letter words. You need to do some work for yourself and not expect to have words given out at random.
thanks mari
adam can you stop posting "clues pls" every 30 seconds, yo uwill end up annoying everyone.
Ok FMitch
But can I pls have some clues I only have 4 words
Look at the f in the in the bottom corner there is a 4 letter word right there
adam1, we all only had 4 works when we first started looking. Exercise a little patience and alot of hunting.
Adam - look for some words beginning with ey. Also look for a type of Indian boat. There's a jungle animal in there, what happens to your teeth if you eat too many sweets, and a word for ghostly or scary.
Does it go FE
Have a look at Babblers Anonymous beneath the grid. Keep clicking general till you get a list of today's words - the start letter and number of letters in the word. And work from there! That's what I do, once I can't find any more by myself. Or look at Licketys Babble Clues. Link beneath grid.
Hello Everyone!
yes it does adam
hey prperisdent
Hi, MrP!
Hey MrP!!
I've got it

hi mr p

I'm slow to find the ye words, Mujnner. You;ve done well.
Tesco just as good hey?
thanks Haz1558
Real true fireworks this morning instead of just the message "You have completed the puzzle."
Hello all, my first fireworks! Thank heavens for a short list.
Hi Preethi
Hello Falsk1

Guess it
bye
It's time to try reading. Nothing good on American TV in the middle of the night.
Bye Jemma see you next time. I guess a brandy would be out of the question Munner
yude should be a word... I use it enough 'yude better pick up that mess or yude be sorry!'
coffee with a brandy in would be nice this time of day!
Can I have some clues
So true MrP - there are more almost y's than there are real ones in the grid.
York = to bowl a yorker in cricket.....a legit word!
Try telling that to the enable dic Ray!!
I wanted rerecarpeted yesterday.!!
Morning dear gang :)
Morning Sprite
Hi sprite
Morning sprite *whispers there are only 2 k words today*
Morning Sprite
NO YOYO!! cruel.....
Hi Sprite
Still 2 too many, but okay ;)
Apparently it's a brand name, Mrp
Both the k's wer in the grid the other day.
How many Y words are there altogether??
For all A A Milne fans, Eeeyore isn't allowed, either.
9, Flask1

Flask you are pro - don't you use your stats pannels under the grid?
Aren't you pro, Flask?
Lolol....yes...just ignore me.....what a numpty!!!!
LOL!
LOL!!!!
FMitch, thanks for the K-hint. Got both uklies out of the way.
:) Thought I would give you a push in the right direction so you could put them to bed and enjoy the rest of the grid.
Worked like a charm :)
Well, I have made it as far as 64 words but the wall has suddenly appeared.
My wall has appeared after only 44, FMitch. Coffee for me now. See you all later.
ditto - im now using the babblers-anon list and grinding-slowly... sigh...
can I have some clues
ByTTFN hydra
Oops time for me to make some calls back in a bit.
have you gotten the am.indian-boat?
I only have 21 and am still in the blissful state of seeing them faster than I can type. Will join you at the wall in a few minutes, of course.
no
hfelton: don't forget the plural.

and the past tense.

hfelton?
hfelton?
hfelton?
weird - im getting some odd effects here...
hfelton I asked you a question
adam - stop typing in the same thing over again. You'll annoy people and they won't respond.
Stop telling me that
I know
my clue was for the ca5/12 word which is an am.indian boat.
I second that, Haz.
Ijust thought he might have run away
Me too, Haz and sprite
Well, if so, he cannot read all your messages, right?
Ditto
something happened with my xx-hours left symbol, where it said less-than-1-minute. was that for the legendary fireworks?
yep
Well duh sprite
hfelton: you probably had to refresh. It happens sometimes.
bummers - i was at 70 - and still really struggling... sigh
ha ha
whoops that was my sister
nite, all--10 left!
wtg liba, sleep well :)
Then please listen to what people say. Try to find the following words. yo4/10 - in the middle of an egg. Make it plural (add an s). oc5/12 - lots of water, like the Atlantic or Pacific. dy4/8 when hair is coloured it is this. ca5/12 - the indian boat, then make it plural, and make it past tense of a verb.
nite liba. wtg
nite lib - I havve 35 left and it's bedtime -- well, past bedtime
nite, sprit, hfelton & jilli--see you tomorrow
Night jilli :)
I think you're wasting your time trying to be polite to adam1, he (presumably) is obviously determined to upset people. Just ignore him & eventually he'll go away.
Well said Ray!
thx ray - wilco
Agreed, Ray.
Ray - I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt so far, as he may be young and not aware of the etiquette here. We'll see if the behaviour improves, if not, I can ignore with the best of them!
But thanks for the sea clue, Haz, had not spotted that yet ;)
what's the indian boat I can't find it. pls tell me
adam - move on to another clue.
We never tell words, adam. The fun of the game is to find them yourself.
thanks for the clues haz
it starts with Ca***
pls I need that word
I'm desperate
I'm desperate
Okay, I reached the ignore-phase.
Sorry I made a mistake

At 50 and joining you guys at the wall.
There is a big long line of us now sprite :) Didn't find a single word whilst on the phone :(
I'm at 55 and crawling....
At least we are in good company :)
Well said :)
I can claim to have the 2 sevens.
I only have one, the De44.
found the indian boat
What do they begin with Haz?
Oh me too, nice proper words as well.
There are two de7/44. Change a vowel.
haz - i can claim to have the two sevens, too. of course, i can claim to be a size 6. ;)
Argh, that obvious hm... thanks Haz :)
LOL Darci
Both extend on de5/18,
deco
dammit
sorry
Keep going Darci.....
I blame the site, I blame the site, I blame the site ;)
well, i got one of em! :)
Now change the last vowel for the other de5
and now i have both of them and i don't have to just "claim" it anymore! :)
course, i'm still not a size 6
I can use a de5 until I de5, but it will not remove that darn wall.
ah well. time to call it a night. thanks for hints!
That's just what I was about to ask!
Night Darci, lol. :)
ok - im trying the bablers-anon site and assume the list is alphabetical and im STILL having trouble with the last item, namely a yo5/14. anyone got clues? btw - this is not my last word, just one to search for. tia.
Am struggling to lengthen the 2 de words...
plural of olden times, Hfelton.
Flask: the person doing the De5.
thanks Jen
Flask - make it the person who does the action, using the comparative ending if that's any help.
Found a fish and a bird, not to mention the big cat in the grid so far.
Och yesssss.....thankyou!
aargh! sigh, thnx. :) LOL
So ecco is a brand, nothing more.
A fish and a bird.... off to look.
The bird mi4/5?

Ah, hadn't even spotted my! The mi4 is a unit of currency.
And that currency has a plural, but not the bird.
We're picking up speed again....
You may be, but I am not. At 63 now.
Oh nice one sprite, didn't have the pl. You are catching me up fast sprite.

Cy6/30: pattypan squash, variety of squash (Cucurbita Pepo) having a flat round fruit with a scalloped edge, ribbed white skin, and creamy white flesh. Or first 3 letters of a musical instrument + first 3 letters of the straight thing you draw with a pencil.
Lol at sudden rest.
Thanks rolin :)
And thank you for the squash, sprite.
thanks sprite!
thanks sprite
thanks Sprite
thanks for that
Goes to show how desperate I am becoming. Trying the weirdest combinations, lol. Glad it pays off once in a while.
thanks
does everyone have the ca5/12 and the two 6s that buid from it?
I think so. The am. boat things.
does anyone have a clue for Li5?
That should have ended in a ?
Yes Fran, they are a good set of words.
yes sprite, those.
Thanks Fran :)
Li5/12: first 3 letters of the straight thing you draw with a pencil + first 2 letters of to do something.
thanks, Sprite. :)
Do you all have the L4/5 that ends in two consonants?
de6/24, church official
sprite, the embellished type one?
Thanks Sprite
I can't imagine how to pronounce that one sprite.
It means describe, depict by painting.
haz, i think it's like the fruit, but i'm going to check.
Me neither, Haz, indeed.
looks like short i, silent last consonant
Thanks Sprite
Makes me want to put 'bo' at the end.
That would make sense FranMag, otherwise it would be a real mouth mangler rather than a tongue twister.
clue for the ca 5/12?
true haz.
preethi, water vehicle
ca5/12 - type of light boat, as used by native Americans and adventurous young people.
Thanks Fran, Haz
An5/16 Social instability caused by erosion of standards and values
had that one sprite, now i know what it means!
Hehehe, glad to oblige. I just found it, I thought I'd share.
thats one of the last-6 im missing - maybe a clue?
Hi all! Looks like another odd one...
hi amanda!
I am down to 3 but running out of things to try.
Thanks Sprite
HI Amanda
It is, amanda! And the oddest thing is you cannot use odd.
Morning amanda Im at 4 left sprite
that was fast! i still have 19 to go.
FMitch and I go hand in hand.
:)
oops! That was almost a boo-boo, wasn't it? How many (few, she thinks hopefully) are there today?
Do you have A4/6 A + one of the eastern principles of life?
73 amanda!
amanda: 92 words today.
i mean 92!!! i only have 73
Naughty naughty, Fran!
eep!
I was confused...
thanks sprite! have that a4/6 now
sorry amanda!
Tssss... hand me the fish. Only just now found do4/5 the person doing another do4/5.
that's ok -it's a state I'm used to!
One more, sigh. One more A-word.
do you want the do4/5 fish?
morning all :) how many today
Yeah! A + word for zero, lose last letter.
marso: 92. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise ;)
congrats sprite!
lol sprite!
yay sprite!!!
Cant find my last word - one of the co4's!!!
Fmitch, anything I can help you with? Or anyone else who needs clues?
Congrats sprite
lol cheers sprite
Go Sprite! I don't like this one...
sprite or fmitch, what do the 7s start with? just the first two letters is fine for now.
Let's see. You have the drink, both spellings of the woppy one?
cy anyone? please
im still stuck on that an5/16 - your definition didnt help - should it have?
congrats sprite
hfelton, you can google the definition
Have to be off for a bit, back in about 10 minutes.
fran - both start with de
I have the co4 that relates to college, what is the otherone
cya sprite
thanks hfelton
oooh - gfe - thanx ill try that... :)
Mitch, I've got 2 bunnies and 1 drug
can you give the definition again?
crap - the def just scrolled away - something about social syfunction?
Social instability caused by erosion of standards and values
urph - thanx!
yay, found one of the 7s
Fran - The 7's both start de
Okay, sorry about that, little domestic crisis came up.
thanks fmitch!
Fmitch, do you have the past tense co4?
sprite, the kind that happens every few minutes when more than 1 child is awake?
the two de7's are the biggies today? Or are there more...
yay, found the other 7!
There are 2 x co4/6 and I have the one that is to do with college according to the def
those are the biggest amanda...i'm telling the truth this time! :-)
No, kids are at school. More like when the washing machine crashes and someone is willing to do some washing for you, if she can use your car to drive the stuff to her home... and the car breaks down.
Co4/5: one is the drug/drink, one is the past tense.
good, then I've got them. The other co4/6 is the drug and/or drink, Mitch
now that is a crisis!! lol
I mean Co4/6!
Thanks amanda will go look for it.
It qualifies as crisis in my book, anyway, lol.
What an easy one not to see!!! I hate it when that happens. Many thanks all and am done.
yay fmitch!!!!
congrats fmitch
Yay mitch!
YEAH FMitch! :)
LOL thanks guys
are any lists up yet?
beast: Cy6/30: pattypan squash, variety of squash (Cucurbita Pepo) having a flat round fruit with a scalloped edge, ribbed white skin, and creamy white flesh. Or first 3 letters of a musical instrument + first 3 letters of the straight thing you draw with a pencil.
BJs is up amanda
thanks sprite, got it a while ago
Oh, ok, didn't see anyone answering, so I thought I would ;)
good! I'm going to it - way too many icky letters today! And thanks Sprite, got that nasty cy!
sprite are you finished
Yes, I am. Any clues?
Eeyore is in the grid!
thought you might be
you are always great at helping everyone out after youve finished
Yeah amanda, isn't it sweet? Enable doesn't like it, but we do :)
fireworks!
Helping eachother is a big part of the fun for me, Beast :)
i want crayon and canyon
WTG Merk!
yay merk!!!
good morning
hi kallia
i agree sprite
Hi Kallia!
my head is bleeding from banging my head against the monitor... (j/k) im still struggling with that past-tense of co4/6-drink. is it really staring at me?
it's one of the things i love about babble
I'm finished, but who is eeyore?
A friend of Winny the Pooh, Merk.
one of winnie the pooh's friends
Yay Merk! Hi Kallia! Eeyore is a character in Winnie the Pooh
I know his place in storybooks, but I didn't think that animal was in the grid today. But then I'm sleepy today.
well done you finishers :)
Same here, Beast. It's what makes this site special, all helpful people sharing fun.
Not the animal, the exact name, Merk. And therefore not valid :(
co 4 is the first syllable of the rival of Pepsi. The full name's first four letters.
hfelton, i think that was the person at college co4/6
But there are quite a few animals in the log log including an alt name for the garner friend of Winnie the Pooh!
Duh! I get it. There are enough crazy words that we should have the donkey.
my 4yo has her jumper on as trousers with one leg in each arm. she cracks me up
*gardener friend
hi everybody......just finished making cookies, and am back to find my last 2
hi kalea! chocolate chip?
no.......animal shaped sugar cookies
lol..........doing a day camp for the spca.........what a riot
hmm - cross-checking with babble-anon, i see im missing co4/5 and co5/16. im assuming that co5/16 is past-tense of something?
Co5/16 is a comparative of a Co3.
i am missing 2 of the ey words
Co4/5 is alt. spelling of the rabbity one.
thanks for the co5 sprite
kalea: do you have the last name of the famous Jane and her plural?
will think/search about this a bit... thx?
Perfectly willing to help with those last 2, kalea... but never with that day camp! LOL
thanks sprite.......thats what i didn't have.......lol, i monkied everything BUT that
They look too much like names, those Ey.
lol sprite.........not willing to put your life on the line with a bunch of kids?
damn phantom cock-eyed... :)
damn, it didnt accept yoyo
I have 2 of my own, sometimes added by a couple of their friends... I know they can be murder, lol.
yep, but it can sure be fun, too
i used to do 4-H camp stuff with 400 kids, so you'd think 20 would be a breeze, but man it's been awhile
Merk you finally have a Chinese flag!
You are a courageous person, kalea :)
or insane.......lol
True, FMitch! Congrats Merk, it was about time ;)
Okay guys, I am off. Thanks for the help and the great company. Have a nice day/night/whatever and happy hunting.

the other is a de.............more of a fake duck
de7/44 - one who leads the hunter away from the hunted.
Morning folks!:-)
hello Jacula
Hi and bye Kateq and Jac - I'm off!
night amanda
'Night, Amanda.
night amanda!!
hi jac!!
Nice grid so far. Only been here about 10 mins and found 59 so far.
i have my fireworks! used the list for about 15 of them.
Hi FranMag, Kalea.
congrats, Fran
holy camoly - that was fast!
Well done, FramMag. I'm going to try to do without the list today. (Might not succeed though! LOL.)
ty very much
can anyone please give me stats for the 6 letter words
jacula is the epitome of pro!
there are five 6's
Back from a walk with the dog. It's hot!
ca6/24, ca6/21, cy6/30, de6/24
and ed6/24
well all.......i have GOT to get some sleep.........night
night kalea!
Hi Haz. Hot, it IS! Hotter than Crete! Bah!
ty franmag
hi kate!
'Night Kalea.
Congrats Fran Hey Jacs - did you have a good holiday?
thanks fmitch!
FMitch - lovely thanks, FranMag, though you could play dot-to-dot with the mossie bites on our legs! Autan doesn't work in Crete. Will do a travelogue soon for BabAnon.
Haz - when do you go on your African hol?
Hello Jacula - it's scheduled to start on 20th August.
Haz - How long will you be out there?
morning all ! very hot here as well
Morning Kate.
10 days, I think. One night in Nairobi, 2 nights at a lake, 4/5 nights safari, and finishing off in Nairobi for a couple of days.
Haz - You'll need super-strength 'Autan' for the lake nights!
sounds nice haz!
Morning Kateq how hot with yo?
Holiday of dreams though, eh? Will you do a balloon trip to see the animals?
kate, keep yourself cool! can't believe the heatwave you all are having in the mainland.
night everyone
If you need it - Clues are Up! I'm not going to be able to do it tommorrow - I'm away. Gotta run! enjoy.
night adam!
I know! We've been warned to have long sleeves and trousers etc. My only worry is that we have a very restricted luggage allowance on the internal flights, so I'm going to have to be ruthless and take the bare essentials. The balloon trip sounds wonderful, but opinion seems to be divided about it - too hight up and you see nothing, too low and the animals leg it.
I'm in Australia
Lickety - many thanks as always!
hi lickety! bye lickety!
Hi and bye Lickety and thanks
Hi and 'bye Adam and Lickety.
Haz - unless it has to be pre-booked (the balloon trip) perhaps you can decide once there?
Haz - I'm not v. good at travelling light so I sympathise about the luggage allowances!
don't know if you can get in the UK, but Nike makes a material called dri-fit that wicks sweat away from your skin so you can have long sleeved things that will still keep you cool.
thank you--trying to stay cool--it's already aabout 80 degrees at 6 am . Will be 100 or more today
thank you--trying to stay cool--it's already aabout 80 degrees at 6 am . Will be 100 or more today
Know that feeling, Kate!
morning all!
hi pam!
Somehow it's not the clothes that I worry about so much as toiletries etc. I'll have to find sample sizes of things. We'll see about the balloon trip when we're there. It's been fun watching 'Bit Cat Diary' as it gives a real flavour of what we'll see. If I spot Toto, the baby cheetah, I'll let you know.
BIg Cat diary - my typing is degenerating.
just buy some small empty toiletries bottles, Haz and decant into them ...
Good morning pam, by the way.
Haz--can you make sample sizes in containers of your own?
and hi :)
i was going to suggest the same thing atalante!
Haz, I used to travel a lot, go to somewhere like Boots, or Superdrug, they sell small empty plastic bottles that you can decant your shampoo, moisturisers, cleansers etc into.
Yes, some of the chemists do little bottles for decanting, so I'll probably do that.
Boots definitely do them
I have also used small, resealable plastic bags as they take up less room
Hi Atalante LOL all great minds on the same thought!
Haz - Superdrug also do those little empty travel bottles.
Yes, and being a dedicated Boots shopper, I have quite a few samples built up of products I use anyway. Sam's problem is going to be shoes. Any thoughts on reducing men's shoes?
You need full-size suncream and after-sun though. And shower gel.
And insect repellent!
Haz - Paul wore his heavy shoes and only packed sandals and sandshoes.
pair of sandal type things that are comfy to walk in, pair of proper shoes. the end :P
love that icon, atalante!
We had a laugh picturing the pair of us wearing as many clothes as we could manage - a pair of Michelin men staggering onto a tiny plane.
you'll robably get more than in a regular travel-sized item from manufacturer.
Ata - I've just nicked your icon - love it!:-)
Haz - Paul and I thought of that, too. LOL.
fab isn't it :D
and oh so true! 8-)
LOL Haz
you can certainly end up tying a coat / jumper / both round your waist while travelling ... and you might even be able to lock some stuff away in the hotel in nairobi while you're out safari-ing
When is Enable going to learn that 'drey' is a squirrel's nest??
I'm hoping that is the case (pardon the pun) Atalante. It'll be grand.
have you got the lonely planet guide? they generally say where places are that you canleave luggage safely
No, I haven't, Atalante. We're going on a package and hoping that the tour operator will sort us out.
any clues on ca24
ohhhh then I'm sure they will do :)
ca6/24 - ca5/12'd.
bigkoala, used a light boat
oh poor show - I work for lonely planet! but we are putting more and more online so you should check that out too.
hi lynxxx!
ta!
lonely planet are getting very good online!
I will do, thanks lynxxx.
hi everyone
Hi lyn.
Hi and bye, lynxx. See you all later. Have a great day and try to stay cool, those of you in the midst of the heat wave...
TY atalante - its our current focus so it is good to see that people are noticing - stay tuned for more over the next year.
'Bye Pam.
well I've definitely noticed, if that's any help :D
well, i'm off to bed, for once i may get a decent night's sleep! Those of you in the mainland please stay cool!!
Good night FranMag - good to have your company.
night franmag
'Night FranMag. Sleep well.
nitey nite fran
night Fran
28 to go and I'm slowing down...
Good morning! Any clues for the ko 4/8 please!
Welcome to our world, Jacula.....
Lol, Haz.
Buttonman - rhymes with what you might have off the bank if you needed extra money.
RE5.10 hint pls
To lubricate again, re5/10
good morning everyone!
TY Haz
mornin Eva :)
Thanks for the re5/10, Haz. Hadn't spotted that!
You're welcome lynxxx. And good morning Eva.

an plus vowel, then possessive pronoun
good morning eva
thanks Haz and morning Button
Thanks again, Haz. That's another one you've found for me.:-)
You're welcome. I should really look up to see what it means.
Done! any clues before I go?
Congrats to Kateq !
Social instability caused by erosion of standards and values of course!!! Like we all knew that didn't we LOL
Congrats kateq
Well done, Kate!
It's such an alien concept these days - no wonder we didn't see it....
thany you all
morning all again :)
Good morning marso - and now I must go and get something useful done. Have a good day all.
u2 haz :)
'Bye Haz.
bye haz
'Morning marso.
9 to go and time to consult BJ, methinks...
morning jac :)
Bye Haz!!
how many words today?
last word-that pesky cy6/30?
Looking for that myself, Eva.
Babs - Hello. 92 words today.
thanks
hi eva - the last 3 letters are the first three letters of what you draw with a ruler - let me know how you go with that
great clue lynxxx, thank you
Got it! Thanks lynxxx.
Thanks lynxxx, that did it!!
2 to go...
swap for clue for DE6.24 if you have it pls
what a weird word-just looked it up and it can also be spelled with a g on the end and has something to do with pattypan squash. Speaking of which, I didn't know not to put two diferent kind of squashes next to each other in the garden and am now growing a very interesting hybird, but who knows how it will taste
de6/24 - church official.
de6/24 isd a church official
TY - 2 left for me now
what do you need lynxxx?
de6/24 is also the surname of rock group Queen's bass player.
EY 4.6 and ED 6.24
the ey 4/6's are all visual or Jane ey__
lynxx = the things you see with? or change the final consonant?
Fireworks for me!
yay, Jac!!
hooray for Jac !
ed6/24 is the plural of ed4/6 and has a double consonant
have to feed Merp and then get ready for Qi Gong. Not quite as brutally hot as it's been.
see you all later
bye Eva.
later Eva. Congrats Jacula@
bye Eva - TY.
any more help on the an6? It was clued earlier, but I don't get the hint.
bye eva :)
thre is no an6 carrie
are there any an's?
there is AN5.16
Thanks lynx, that might be what I'm looking for. Any hints on that one?
change the vowels in the word for your rival or opponent (usually in war). sounds the same too.
got it lynx! thanks!
any clues for those 7s please?
get the DE5.18 and its the thing that does that (rots) and then you need the DE5.18 which is the thing hunters use to fool ducks
got the duck one. thanks lynxxx
and the rot one. did you get your fireworks,lynxxx?
Hi
Is it possible to look back at what score i got yesterday (new to all this)
why do I keep seeing monkeys in the grid? lol
no charm and the ED6.24 is driving me silly. if you have that - is it the 3rd EY4.6 it builds off?
I keep seeing mayor and only
lynxxx, the ed 6 builds off the ed 4/6. sounds like a boy's name
ed + many female deer.
yes - and that is maybe why I can't see it - building off the EY - YEEK
I'm not sure if this is the 3rd ey4/6, but Bronte's herone Jane Ey**?
silly me - kept trying to get that k in there - oh well - firworks for me - TY abe and charm
I think I need coffee after that - anyone want anything before I go ?
yw and great job lynxxx
perhaps one of the top o's?
a sea / several 'OKs' / name for minerals /
yes plz lyn ,,,,,all the words lol
I'm back. Just went to check temperatures in the rabbit shed & greenhouse, both of which are wide open. 87 deg F in the rabbit shed, 104 degF in greenhouse!
thanks lynxx!
it's really hot here too Jacula, it's already 80 and it 's 7:41 am!
bye all !
'Bye lynxxx.
jac tomorow is supposed to b the hottest since 1976!!
it was 102 yesterday and today is going to be even hotter
bye lynxxx
bye lyn :)
Good morning all --- it's supposed to be around 102 degrees F in South Idaho too. Yesterday the bank temperature said 107 - ouch!
Marso - I well remember the summer of '76! We were vying to stand over the floor vents of the air-conditioning at work!
lol i dont remember it (give age away) lol
i am currently sitting directly in front of the a.c. unit
Marso - my age is on my profile anyway. LOL.
me to abe :)
I am sitting in front of a very powerful fan
we lost power yesterday so we're camped out at my future in laws
so glad not got profile lol,,,,,i convinced my now 12 yr old i was 21 for years,,,,,until he heard me on the phone an got quite upset lol
aircon isn't standard in UK houses. Might become so if things keep warming up, though. We have to rely on fans in every room.
Rosalind - have you got a tower fan? They're great.
Jacula- I prefer fans also. I grew up w/o air conditioning and it usually makes me feel cold
im still in work...dread to think what my house is like
Yes its ver good. I am glad I bought it at the weekend. We have ceiling fans as well.
ch - it's time we took our teeth out and found a book. (Icon theme).
Aircon dries both you and the air out. When in Crete for last fortnight we only used it in short bursts. I remember it used to make us ill at work, too.
I did, Jacula :) But I do love your icon!
ch - I need to refresh, I guess.:-)
We use a humidifier now when we sleep because the air con dries out our already dry air
my office is so cold that i usually wear a blanket. i called in sick today
rite me finish work now so spk 2 u all later folks tc :)
bye marso
bye all
changed my icon
hi everyone
hi saphyre
how is everone today?
hi saph -- you had that icon up yesterday for awhile, didn't you? I was impressed :)
yes I put it up before I left for work, just got home so now I can finish the grid
for a little grid it's deceptively difficult today. Usually I have at least half within the first 10-15 minutes (if grid up to 250 or less) but after 30 minutes I've only got 29 so far...
When I stopped after a little more than an hour after the flip I only had 59- so 33 to go
i just went to the list with 28 to go
the little grids are deadly :)
I want eeyore!
lol me too Atalante!
i want yoyo
Hi atalante -- your icon is great!
my phantom is money
thanks ch :) I love it!
my phantom is yankees
ny is even in there :)
my grand father in law was a Yankee
good afternoon everybody:)
in the 1920's
hi jean
my grandfather was an Irishman who liked the yankees ... :)
lol
'Minoc' isn't accepted ... then I remembered, it's a made-up word from Star Wars !! Lol
Okay. I've changed my icon to my current favourite author. I was introduced to this author by being given the book in my picture by the lady from the next apartment on holiday. Now I have to read the other 2 in the trilogy!
Coming from Idaho the title sound's interesting (we're known for famous spuds) ... what's the genre?
good morning everyone!
hi annie
hi anniebrook
good morning Annie
It's fiction based on some true fact, ch. The possible story of the real Scrooge (Isaac Solomon) and his deportation to Van Diemen's Land.
short grid but looks fiendish
The potato factory was the place his girlfriend set up to brew poteen.
Sounds interesting -- I may read it. Anniebrook, it is a devilish grid today
ok 28 left - going for the list
go saph go! :)
The trilogy is, as I've just discovered: The Potato Factory, Tommo & Hawk, Solomon's Song.
ch - He's a South African living in Australia - Bryce Courtenay, that is.
Mmm. I'll check out his work. Thanks!
ch , who is the author in your icon?
Kahlil Gibran, author of "The Prophet" among other works.
Anyone need any clues before I go off to do something useful like de-fleaing the cats & the sofa?!
sounds like fun Jac
hi everyone!
are you done, jac? CongratsQ
cy6/30
great book
congrats Jac
congrats, Jacula
I was done a while ago,ch, if you'll pardon the expression!
lol
pabtrek - cy6/30 is, apparently the pattypan squash. First three letter are those of a brass percussion instrument & last 3 of most of a word for what you draw with a ruler.
well my beloved needs the laptop for awhile so I'll be back later.
thanks Jacula
My son spilt water on his laptop whilst I was away. It now only works with a separate keyboard plugged in! Not great for portability.:-(
thanks, Jac
'Bye ch.
thanks Jac
bye ch
bye ch
bye ch
mornin babblers!

Then click on 'edit' below the little picture, then select one of the 2 options you'll find there.
Don't forget to click 'Upload' and then F5 to refresh.
Can I go and wash my face now?

the two 7''s are de's. get the de 5's - to rot and fake duck. extend for the 7s
ahh, thanks!
yw evanadine
feel free to clue us in on the 6'es, if you wish. ;)
ed 6- extension of ed 4/6 . sounds like a boys name
de 6- church official or bass player from queen
cy 6- ends like comedienne lily from 9 to 5
ca 6's just have to do with the boat
am off for a while bbl happy babbling everybody:)
the boat....hrmmmm.....
bye jean. the boat is ca 5/12
ahh, yes. the boat. :)
back again. My screen froze up too as I was logging back on . ... and the last chat entry was at 7:41, so either there's been silence for 4 minutes or I'm still having a problem. I'll hit Enter on this and see what happens ...
oh, okay. all is well :)
it's been a quiet morning, ch
fireworks - whew

es5/18?
yoyo is not in babble words that makes me sad
wow I just found both the 7's all by myself! That never happens :)
clue please
I agree Tiny, I have even tried to enter it twice.
es 5/18 - uses the big scoring letter
thanks ch1212
yay oatmeal!
oh, tiny, did you mean you wanted a clue for one of the 7's? I just read your comment
PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about an5/16 please?
missing a 6-letter, i have: ca cy de ed
okay, one 7 builds on what duck hunters use - the other starts with same letter, same spelling except for second vowel
evanadine there are 2 ca 6's
2 cas evan vary your boating activity
The 7's build off of two de5/18 words differing by only one vowel.
ahhh....i had the past-tense, not the plural!
Btw tiny, I loved the Nancy Drew books when I was younger -- wonderful stories. I especially liked her friend 'George' (I think that was her name.)
ch1212, I just bought a series of 4 Nancy Drew books this week at Barnes and Noble, so that I could read them again.
Thanks ch1212 georgie she was also great
I'm Jealous my daughter does not understand why I liked them
We have a B&N in our town now, and a Hastings which carries used books, but I wish we had a Borders Books. Tiny, I tired to interest my daughter in Nancy Drew, Louisa May Alcott, and so on, but no such luck.
It is easy to order books off of Amazon.com.
I must try that and E-Bay Thanks
True enough. We do have several used book stores and thrift shops here, and I love to go hunting --- that's so much fun in itself!
Girls of today dont read like we used to I also liked louisa May Alcott
phantom word (today AND yesterday, oddly enough: minion
Any hints on the an 5/16?
I have even found out of print books on Amazon, and they come from all over the place. You can review the condition, price, etc. and choose the best ones.
yes, but yesterday we also had Dominion, evanadine!
Fireworks!
two wonderful web resources for rare and out of print books are Powells Books in Portland and Abe's Rare Books. Google both and you'll get the website
congrats
nm
Powell's is FAB!
**~~**~~**FIREWORKS**~~**~~** for Angelsong
I think that some of my out of print books came from abe's via Amazon...must be a great store.
CONGRATS Angelsong!! I told my husband this morning that if you had a fav author today it would would be a depiction of God (Bible) :) But I like your happy face too!
abe is another find adn fetch service like Amazon
abebooks.com
ch1212 remember I am in Australia the [postage would probably kill me
I didn't know that about Abe's, Atalante. I discovered it after my dad passed in January -- he had thousands of old Westerns and such. You're right, Tiny -- books are too expensive to ship overseas...
there's a lot of sellers on abe australia!
abebooks lets you specify which country.
Didn't know about Abebooks that is good Thanks
What's the theme today, please?
oc5 please?
Got both the 7 letter words thanks ch1212
bestwebbuys.com - started out as bestbookbuys - new, used with shipping prices
the big blue, charm
the theme is Favourite Author
Charm, you could float your ca boats in the oc5
Thanks.
hand over one of those big fish, ch1212!
lynnet, thanks for the links!
How about an5 and li5? I cannot monkey them for some reason.
Can't name one fave author.
how about some plankton instead charm? :)
I couldn't either charm. Hello everyone!
an5 - like the study of the structure of the body, minus two letters in the middle
hi, musicmom
Think Charm Think
Thanks Atlante...
Hi musicmom! I too had the problem with fav author. Finally settled on Kahlil Gibran, whose works are so enduring. And he was Lebanese, which right now both peoples in that war could learn from his writings... okay, as could we all.
brb phone
morning all
sorry, mom on phone.
Hi featherbee! Is that Piers Anthony?
li5/12 any clues
nope, think creepier
sorry majmom, not there yet...
oooh, of course, Stephen King!
hi feather
who does music mom have? and yep!
majmom, that is the one that I need also
Li5 -- sounds like a shade of purple (also a flower) with a different middle letter
li5 = clothes li*e + what cools your home in summer (short form)
musismom went to answer the phone
i saw...hoped someone else knew!
Thanks for the li5 clues....that was a toughy!
I'm back.
My icon is C. S. Lewis
tyevanadine
ahh! good choice!
oyes
C.S. Lewis indeed! Nice.
oh, yes
I also wanted Carolyn Keene, Louisa May Alcott, Jim Butcher, James Patterson, etc
sorry
i know, there are sooo many to choose from
majmom - I already entered that one.
i`ll try harder next time lol
Judy Blume, Orwell, Margaret Mitchell
I chose Bill Bryson
oh! i needed that one! thanks!
LM Montgomery
I agree! And oh gosh, Issac Assimov, Heinlein, Bradbury and Ellison in the Sci-Fi genre...
Cormac McCarthy. John Kennedy Toole. Kazuo Ishiguro.
we need to have a rotating slideshow icon available for today!
I nearly had John Winton
I don't often change my icon, but I did today. Any guesses?
In the cheese factor writers - Nora Roberts, Danielle Steele
LOL -- indeed, featherbee!
janet evanovich of course
We can't forget Janet Evanovich - evanonut would never forget us.
I've obviously fouled up in the change icon department....
I'm stumped, Haz
anyone ever read laura k hamilton?
I give in Haz
why haz?
The only LKH I can recommend are the VERY early ones. "Guilty Pleasures" is amongst my faves.
I recognise him Haz, but can't think who he is
what's funny is we read all these people, but usually don't know much what they look like
Trying again.
Randy Alcorn is an author I have been reading recently and really enjoy.
i like them all charm, just got the lastest one
I don't know who that is haz
and along those lines, anne rice
Kurt Vonnegut, Beverly Cleary, Maya Angelou ...
P G Wodehouse - a comic writer who was a genius.
JK Rowling, of course!
AA Milne, Raould Dahl
erma bombeck!
margaret atwood
Agatha Christie
and S J Perelman who was also a genius
Featherbee, she lost me some time ago although I keep buying her books. I have discovered some new authors in a similar 'vein': Karen Chance, Keri Arthur, Lilith Saintcrow.
I have never read anything of his Haz. I will ahve to try them out
Ngaio Marsh.
ahh, cool charm
Georgette HEyer.
Oh and the author of "The Secret Life of Bees" -- one of the best books I've read in years!
God
Oh yes, musicmom! I was saying earlier I thought Angelsong (or you) might have a depiction as your fav author
I see a lot of brilliant author names here.
I really wanted God but couldn't find a decent icon for it. I could just put up a Bible I guess.
re5/22 or re5/10 please?
Onions in the Stew, by Betty Macdonald
Whoever wrote the Mrs. Piggle Wiggle Books
Musicmom - he wrote the Jeeves and Wooster books among many others. His golf stories are also wonderful, and I can't stand golf!
Tolkien, of course. Margaret Atwood, CS Lewis, Julian May, Melaniw Rawn, Katherine Kurtz, Sherrilyn Kenyon ...
I tried to change my icon this morning to my fav author (or one of them) w/o success. I am such a dummy at computers.
just updated to a more recent favorite author. :)
PG Wodehouse.
garrison keeler
We have watched many Jeeves and Wooster videos checked out of the library. I didn't know there were books. I will have to check that out. We go to the library again on Thursday.
whoa eva, who's that? lol
John Sandford. Thomas Perry. John Dunning.
EWEEEWWWWW no featherbee<G> Sorry really don't like Garrison Keeler
Mil Millington
i'm going to have to remember this spot in the log whenever i need a new author to read!
pahtom word for today: economy. hi all...
James Ellroy, Michael Chabon
lol, i like listening to him more than reading him
musicmom - the books are wonderful! I know you will enjoythem.
Feather - listening is even worse than reading<G>
Nancy Collins. Rafael Sabatini. although not at the same sitting.
james herriot
Alexandre Dumas.
hmm, maybe i'll change to james herriot...i used to read and reread him all the time
lol musicmom!
Feather does he do the horse and cat stories? I think Hannah has some of those to read out loud.
Edith Wharton, Isaac Bashevis Singer, Raymond Chandler
Judith McNaught.
C.S.Forrester and all his "Hornblower" books from Midshipman to Admiral etc
Michael Crichton, Ken Kesey, William Golding, Alice Walker, Harper Lee
Oh, yes, Anniebrook, raymond Chandler!
Love Judith McNaught
Any Mickey Spillane fans here? Sorry to read of his death yesterday...
I would have thought Haz would have James Herriot!
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. Suzy M. Charnas.
I never read him ch. But I heard of his death on NPR yesterday.
Ex-Wren good one! I read some of Haz' stories yesterday at BabAnon -- she is an excellent writer. Should be published.
I've read the books ex-Wren, but he doesn't compare to P G Wodehouse!
yes, mickey spillane fan here, always sorry to hear of his death
yes music mom, he has many many many short stories about being a vet in yorkshire
meant *also* not always, the heat is getting to me early today
that's what I thought. He is good.
Anniebrook, when I heard Assimov had died, I actually pulled over in my car and cried. He was such a favorite when I was growing up -- his science books as wells as his science fiction.
ok, i switched icons
Haz you really should try to publish -- you are such a gifted writer.
BGL - did you find an icon?
Oh ch ....when these great ones die you realize no more books for us to read.....what a loss!!!!! the new ones that is
the new books that will be no more but we reread the old ones again and again
That's very nice of you to say ch1212 - I've always enjoyed writing but I know my limitations! I'm glad you enjoyed the stories, I'll try to add some more.
And read the new authors who sat at their feet, Annie...
heh, how many chatrooms on the internet have these kinds of discussions?
probably a small percent!
I don't know feather this is the only chat room I do
I'm just thankful that we can have these discussions here and not just talk about the grid all the time. I'm mad at the grid right now and don't want to talk about it
One of my favorites is Gabriel Marques Garcia. Tried to get his pic as my icon but I cant do it. Jacula tried to help me but I am so computer illiterate it is pitiful.
caes
;) music mom
Time to leave, sadly. Hope your grid issues get settled musicmom....
Oh his "100 Years of Solitude" was breathtaking!
Isabel Allende.
Bye haz. I may need list therapy today:-[)
hi! clue please for the 2nd co4,6 I have monkeytypd and not found it!!
bye Haz.
Also Isabel Allende, she is good!
Charm I tried to plow through Daughter of Fortune but for some reason just couldn't get into it. Maybe I need to pick it up again.
2nd co4/6 = a mixed gender college/dorm.
whydo I miss these so obvious ones? pounds head on wall.
thanks!
me too emusing
ch, pick up Love in the Time of Cholera if you enjoyed 100 years of Solitude. He is mesmerizing.
Try Eva Luna.
I will, anniebrook... like someone said earlier, I'll need to save this chat log!
charm, will get a book by Eva Luna. might go onto amazon.com later. thanks
I think BGL got lost looking for an icon
I get the impression I wasn't the only little child who lost herself in books... I inhaled them, and probably wouldn't have survived without my friends on the shelves of my room :)
Sorry, Anniebrook - "Eva Luna" is the title of a book by I. Allende which I enjoyed very much.
oh, the author of Beautiful Joe!
Oh LOL!!! no wonder i never heard of her. will get the book.
Me too charm.
Ch - mom used to send me out to "play" in the summer. I would take a book out and read outside:-) I lived for the summer reading programs at the library. Now my girls are going. I still can totally immerse myself in books.
Although I am a voracious reader now, I got a very late start, probably 12 or 13 before I discovered the joy of escaping into books. After that, I escaped into the library every week - much to my mother's dismay....
My mom used to say an earthquake could tumble the house down and I wouldn't notice if I was reading!
speaking of reading, i'm reading to my son right now! he keeps bringing me books to read
We were within walking/biking distance of the library when I was growing up. One of the best things about this house we just bought is we can walk/bike to the library from here.
do other people here end up reading about 4 books at once?
I've been known to hold a book and read while cooking dinner.
That's great, featherbee -- every study shows a strong connection between parents who read to their kids and kids who grow up loving to read (and doing much better in school)
Whenever my mother got mad at me and wanted to punish me for not following orders, she'd threaten to throw out all my books. That kept me in line better than anything else!
ever read while taking a walk?
ch, i spent my childhood in the library after school. i used to read by flashlight under my covers at night. I feel lost if I do not have a book waiting to be read
music, i have read and knitted at the same time, lol
I always do feather!
Ata - I didn't used to do that. I used to read one at a time. The older I get the more books I read simultaneously
Okay, show of hands: How many of us have one book/mag in the bathroom, another by the bed, another we read while eating, another being read in the a.m. ... and so on?? (me!)
me!
ME ME ME!!!!!
me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i get to type a few words in quickly here while he picks out the next book
me!
Atalante, only 4???? At the moment, I'm reading a romance, Walter Miller's Canticle for Liebowitz, Fat White Vampire Blues, and two books of poetry. Plus whatever my 4yo wants me to read to him.
:D I knew it! I love you all! {{{{{ hugs }}}}}
((((((ch1212)))))))
my daughter has been reading Nicole Ritchie "The truth about Diamonds"
In only have 2 books on the go right now but also 4 embroidery projects too.
I'm currently reading - The 5th Horseman (James Patterson), Heave (Randy Alcorn), The Five Love Languages of Children (Gary Chapman), The Bible (God), Family Fun magazine, Quick and Tasty Magazine, and my Greek text book.
Fmitch I like Cross Stitch
Oh yeah - I have three sewing projects in the work and this miserable grid.
now I'm trying to think what I;m reading. Rossetti's biography, Frida Kahlo's biography, A Short History of Myth (Karen Armstrong), Night Play (Sherrilun Kenyon), The Moon of Gomrath (Alan Garner), Kushiel's Scion (Jacqueline Carey) and whatever happens to be lurking in the loo. LOL
That's more than 4 ata
i tend to only read one or two at a time, a fiction, and a informational book
Has anyone read the Kite Runner?
right now, i have to put up a pot of coffee then sit down to this miserable grid and , of course, Lillian Hellman....
right now, i have to put up a pot of coffee then sit down to this miserable grid and , of course, Lillian Hellman....

Here's a wonderful quote from Gibran speaking on Friendship (to you fellow babblers): "And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed."
There there musicmom, I saw the grid was giving you greif Tiny I love crossstich, thats my roots but I do my own creations now with dyeing andapplique, etc.
but should be read
but should be read
I need to go refill my coffee cup and then find the last 27 bloomin words that are hiding from me.
like now i'm reading JD Robb, Memory in Death, and Awakening the Buddha Within
I also like to read cookbooks. Only 2 more words to find, the re's.
I love to read cookbooks!
I love to read cookbooks!
Atalante, we have most of Karen Armstrong's books -- I have gone through 3 copies of "History of God" because I keep lending it and don't get it back! (What's ironic is I have lent it out to 2 ministers!)
I have a World Vegetarian cookbook that is very interesting.
okay, I really ought to get some babbling done ... later!
Highly, highly, highly recommend Virginia Woolf's "A Room of One's Own." I think every woman should keep a copy near her.
i love reading cookbooks. that was a beautiful quote, ch
her books are wonderful! I've only read 2 - the one about her life as a nun, and this history of myth, but I'd like to read more
phantom word..economy
Bye ch1212
Yes Ch - I very much enjoyed the quote
my phantom too, lk!
Good morning Babblers. All your talk about reading is warming this old heart-specially when you reach someone like Woolf, subject of my first thesis
My favourite book is "Goodnight Mr Tom" by Michelle Magourin. I met her and had my copy autographed
good morning, hetty
Armstrong is great too, Atalante
Oh gosh Miss Hetty is here! Okay, quick good morning and I refer you to Gibran's quote at 8:50 am --I thought of you.
good morning all! 92 words, 15 minutes allowed on the computer. Can I do it?
Today is red letter for other reasons: it's my birthday (77), and Stid and famliy are to pay us a call. I saw your reference, ch1212, and appreciate it.
Grant says hello...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HETTY!!!! Hellow Stid!
hi stid!
And now I know how many candles to buy for your cake, Hetty!
Happy Birthday, Hetty!
get a list now stid!
What are you doing in the log, stid?
ch1212 - I had missed that post - what a wonderful quote I am going to write that down. Happy Birthday Hetty
~~~~happy birthday, dear Hetty~~~~~~
You'd better hurrry and catch that ferry!
happy birthday, hetty! many happy returns!
Will be on the 9 oclock ferry Hetty, no worries! It's only almost 7....
I am playing Babble. I didn't get to play yesterday... *sniff sniff*
Happy birthday Miss Hetty! stidmama, you must give her a gentle hug from all of us.
Many happy returns Hetty - gosh I thought I was the eldest here 'giggle'
happy birthday Hetty!
I will give dear Hetty hugs and kisses from so many people, she'll be glad to see us leave!
stid, a hug and kiss to hetty for her birthday from me through you!
That's true, Stid, but I'm not sleeping well, been awake for hours. Excitement. Don't buy any candles--I already have a big one that says there are too many years for there to be candles to correspond--to count
ok. done. ANy clues before I dive into one of the books by my bedside????
oh hetty -- time to head downstairs for breakfast... see you in a few hours!
YAY Charm!
congrats, charm!
See you all soon, sweetie
BRAVO charm
wtg, charm!
Congrats to Charm. Happy Birthday, Hetty, and many more!
ta mm
bye all. let me know if I miss any other good chats!! have fun babbling.
bye charm!
bye charm
good morning to all
Good morning, Dorens.
Hi Dorens -- your icon looks familiar but I can't place him...
hi to all who have come on lately busy searching
John Le Carré
ah. yes. The Tailor of Panama and many more.
did anyone else get the second de 5/18 come up as 5/27
don't know if i really have a favorite author..but I always have loved his work
The only de5/18 I have is rot.
no .. try refreshing, tiny
change the second vowel, vicuna
(Oh, I see what you're saying.)
I did but still the same
Is there anyone here who knows much about the rankings?
Thanks, Dorens.
They are a bit of an enigma Dorens, whats up?
Tiny I had one like that the other day, and some babblers assured me it would all come out in the wash at the end... which it did. Dorens, the Babbler's Anonymous site has a full explanation and chat about the rankings
My summer project is to complete every puzzle for 30 days in a row...Ihave completed them all in the last three weeks, save one (july 5..dayPhoebe was born). evrey day my rank goes up by three points. I completed yesterday's (know I got firewrorks), but today i have had three points subtracted. Not the most important thing in the world, but....
I am as puzzled by the rankings stuff as you, Dorens :)
it shouldn't matter....I am actually doing this for myown enjoyment
Hi folks : ) How's the server today?? quick or quack?
2nd ey 4,6 anyone
lol -- pretty quick
hi anj! : ) not the quickest today...
steel, change the last letter
I have just reread the rankings explanation and it still leaves me going , "yes, but..." Hey Anj, no problems here touch wood.
one who ey4/6 ... just change that plural
but not the worst i've seen. either
Cheers ch/FMitch : ) 92 to go then...
thanks fmitch....i know i got robbed on yesterday's...willjust chalk it up to.....
Gee FMitch, do you think we should tell him that the problems with the grid today have NOTHING to do with speed? :D It's a toughie
Anj, sorry should have said server is fine but words are well hidden but it is a fun grid none the less.
LOL ch1212 same train of thought there.
Anj, who is your icon?
Dorens, why not email Dr_G and ask him to look at it? It's a legitimate question ..
no shortage of e's today
ch, Charles de Lint - Canadian author : )
you're right,torgone...i probably should
Ah, you have him listed in your profile -- should have realized.
hi tor!
Heya TO!
And that's me done, finally! Any clues before I go?
hi TO and tor
hooray for ch
Woohoo ch1212
Lot's of fave authors CH, he won as i've just finished one of his shorts collections : ) Hi T-Owl, Torgone : )
congrats, ch
hi annie! : )
Anj, I'm going to save the chat log from the last hour or so --- TONS of great authors in discussion!
Taking odds on how long before I type a word in the chat log: Currently at: 10-1: 15 mins
Heyas annie, anjie!
:D
7-2 - 30 mins 5-4 on 45 mins and over see Honest Anj X D
Dorens, I don't understand the rankings either, and was always frustrated when I was watching them and had your situation. But I always assumed that it had to do with how many other people's rankings were going up. So if I finished a grid that "everyone" else finished, too, it might not be enough to hold up my relative score. But ultimately, who the heck knows!
de6
in church, not a priest
for the de6 that is
make that de6, please?
never mind, got it
I'm off to the post -- have fun all! And thank you for a wonderful listing of authors and a terrific discussion earlier. I want to go to the library this morning too!
bye ch!!
Oh, what's kind of funny -- I meant to mention that when we were all chatting about authors, my beloved was on a phone interview for a job as a librarian!!
Have fun at the library, ch! :)
good luck to your "beloved"!!!!
do4/7?
ch1212--I hope he gets a job in Canada
do4-7: honky-do**
harp: A small, narrow, flatbottom fishing boat with high sides and a sharp prow. a babblet
It's also an alt sp for the wal leyed perch which we had the other day (I am a sad, sad person) :)
..that's apparently only used by white people ..
got it, time for a shower and work! thanks
what is, tor?
A honky-do4/7 ..
LOL!
bye for now
well with 9 left i have ceased to see any more...bbl to finish...happy babbling, all! bye annie!
bye harp
TTFN Annie & TO ..
see you later
Well I have 65 words and I am off to bed Good Night Fellow Babblers
Night Tiny
Niters Tiny
Thats it for another day, the fireworks are fireworking!
congrats wren!
yayyy exwren
Yay!!
dorens, who is your author?
Woohoo ExWren
John Le Carré
what does he write?
It's 4pm (16.00), so I can go and find something else to do, perhaps read a book!!
The Spy who came in from the cold was his first big one....british spy stuf more literate than james bond
ah, ok, cool
Tailor from panama more recent, made iinto a lesser movie
what we have with this here grid is vowel soup.
a surfeit of e's
and behind RE words, words starting with vowels are my least favorite
an 5,16 anyone???
nope, sorry misu
an+garden gn***
an 5 like the study of the body. missing a couple of inner letters, tho
cy 6?
cy + gre**** (don't feed them after midnight)
hello all, back again and exactly half way through
thanks, jen...now there's a word i needed to know
h'lo mva
hi dorens
I know, I'm sure I'll be using it at least once a day from now on . . .
I had it for supper last night ..
lol
tasty, tor?
FMitch, this one isn't so bad. 85 onhfirst sweep : )
A bit runny ..
isn't drey an animal? or is that dray? i'm thinking oxcarts or something...
85 on first run through!!! What have you been doing Ang eating dictionaries???
I think dray is a kind of cart :)
(i was wondering that too FM, i'm struggling here to make it halfway!)
feather - a drey is a squirrels nest but enable doen't like it. A dray is the cart.
ahh, thanks both
Keep with the 1st 3 letters of the nest and it will lead you to the 4 x dr's
economy is my phantom word and i'm developing hives that it won't take it
*brings in ice cream for everyone melting in today's heat*
heh, got those, but thanks! appreciate the help!
lol smaller
*pounces on babbler for the ice cream* thank you!
Oh babbler how wonderful (and good to see you)!!
you're welcome! fresh fruit too?
babbler, i'm glad to run into you! have we ever had a favorite poet icon theme?
hi Fmitch! hi everyone! (((hugs)))
no! I don't think we have featherbee! Like me to schedule?
ooo whizz-bangs : )
hey Anj! : )
Oh feather great idea!! Woohoo Anj
that'd be cool! oh, i just thought of another along those lines, based on what i've been doing all morning....favorite children's books
my living room floor is a blend of thomas trains and books right now
Hi Babs : ) LOL, I didn't see you come in - my log froze : s
hehe, I generally have this effect on people, Anj. It's cos I'm soooooooooo cool! LOL
Hugs back, Babbler, good to see you again. Stid, Jilli and I are having a mini babble convention here today--pop over wn't you?
featherbee - in for Sept 19 : )
awesome, thanks! wow, is that how far ahead you are on icon themes?
are you really, hetty? how wonderful!!! here, have some ice cream. : )
Ishould recognize your author, babbler, but I don't -Joanne Trollope?
I think my brain is fried - I only have 8 words
yep. I've got some ideas scribbled somewhere i haven't put in yet.
hetty, no, it is the incomparable Jilly Cooper. When it comes down to it, I enjoy reading her work the most.
anything by her is great, newspaper articles to anything
...my temp gauge says 117'f : ( My plants all gasp at me when I walk in the room...
i just opened lickety...anyone know what the littel black arrow by the word box does?
Anj, where are you located?
I can believe it Anj - I had to move some of my office equipment out of the full sun today
why isn't yoyo a word?????
ca,6,24 anyone please.. i have 20 left
past tense of the boat, misu
I thought she looked less austere than Joanne. Goo d choice. For me, naming a favourite author of novels is impossibly difficult, which is why I show as the Belle of Amherst
mine says 82F, Anj. But I haven't opened the curtains today and just kept in the shade. Outside, it's supposed to be about 90F today.
past tense of indian boat misu
i can't get the second ay --sure i've monkeyed everything but still need help
dorens, yo-yo is sometimes hyphenated? (I'm guessing)
We believe it is trade marked Dorens and therefore a proper name Babbler and tomorrow is going to be hotter!!!!
ay + not out
i think you're right babler
clues for ed 6/24 please
I know, FMitch. I'm scared! :s I can't take too much heat.
see, i was sure i'd monkeyed everything...thanks gramma
ladynoire, Bristol. It's nice in the shade, but a furnace outside of that... : s
Does that mean no hyphenated wods in enable? Just noticed that.
politicians yoyo on some issues
Bristol, England?
Or Australia?
we have a children's party tomorrow with 48 children - i may not survive!!
ed6 is plural
Anything over 75 and I start wilting. I was in Dubai on business a couple of years ago and it was 49 - never felt anything like it! We are in England if you check our flags out ladynoire.
thnx gramma. got it!
yw
I didn't ..
plural of your ed4
I didnt think it got that hot in England
Hi all. What is the word count today?
It didn't really used to ladynoire - this is very hot for us. 92 Atticus
It didn't really used to ladynoire - this is very hot for us. 92 Atticus
92 words today
92 words today
ladynoire, global warming. :/ it didn't used to but it's been creeping that way in the last 15 - 20 years.
too hot!
ladynoire, global warming. :/ it didn't used to but it's been creeping that way in the last 15 - 20 years.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
log hiccup
lady, neither did we! : s Our weather is weird at the moment though. Almost tropical...including the storms that follow a hot spell
I live in NC, in the southern US, and we're supposed to get to 100 or so today, which is pretty hot but not unusual
You can send those storms our way - we need the rain
yep. tropical storms due on Thurs, Anj. : /
Babbler can I have some of that ice cream before it melts - just plonk what ever you have most of on my head pretty please.
ladynoire, want to hear something ridiculous? in the south east, we're having a drought....not cos it hasn't rained, but because the water companies won't repair pipes!!
*plonks lots of lovely vanilla ice cream on FMitch's head* Very good for the scalp and hair, I understand. ; )
co 5,16
Morning all - see we're discussing my favorite subject, the heat.
finally got it gramma ..thanks!
Thats insane, Babb
Misu, c plus oy4/6 : )
ooooohhh that is wonderful, wiping glasses so I can still see the screen - stick a flake in my hair and call me a 99!! LOL
help with the co5/16 please?
more shy, feather?
feather, just clued that...
thanks! oops, sorry, didn't see it
*sticks flake in FMitch's hair* you're a 99! LOL
ladynoire - welcome to some of the madness that is local government. My local water authority is loosing 800,000 litres of water a day through cracked pipes and we have been on a hose pipe ban for almost 3 months now
co5 more of a flirt
...nd of course, we won't mention Thams Waters' profits... } (
it's more than that, FMitch. I'm sure of it. That must be the 'official' figure. Disgusting whatever it is.
yeah, Bureaucracy!!!
yes, Anj. And they're so tight, they won't pay for repairs. They're saying if we want repairs, we have to pay for them ourselves. : /
We've had a local town refuse to pass a sewer repair bond for 6 years - this year the sewer pipes burst and dumped tons of raw sewage into the bay, forcing fishing bans and closing beaches - it's not just bureaucracy!
Any hints needed before I go?
thanks!
that's awful, TheFiz!!
yes gramma, the last re please?
Pretty gross, too....
do you have something like the Enviromental Protection Agency?
any hints for oc5 pls
Re5/10 *** and vinegar make a nice salad dressing
the fish that you will receive may swim in it, mva
Yah! just been buzzed by a stealth wasp... : s
thanks gramma
oc5 MY bonny lies over the oc*** ,,my bonny lies over the sea
oh no!! Anj. Wasn;'t a killer wasp was it? (I saw a headline the other day)
i hate wasps
throw the fish dorens!!
and that's it for me....i'm seeing fireworks,just hope that dr. god sees them too (somehow i lost thrse points last night even though I completed)
Probably flew in from Farnborough Anj
smackerel coming your way mva!
No, just a dopey one that's picked the only pane of glass to try and get out that's not actually open : /
congrats dorens
smackerel??? I like that! LOL
oh I hate dopey insects, Anj. But not as much as I hate the hyperactive ones!
thanks....any clues before I leave?
Woohoo Dorens
smackerel,? that's perfect!
congrats, Dorens! Fireworks are lovely
thanks all....
Catch ya when I can. baBye
Go dorens! I just got started so I'm not even ready for clues yet. Bye Gramma
k, so does anyone want to hear the ideas I had for themes? there's only a few.
(I found my scribbled list)
Mmmm I feel lemon sole fillets done in herbs'n'spices coming on...
Yes, please Babbler!
mmm... I was just thinking smoked peppered mackerel (from the fridge) and cold salad...
Yey go for it Babbler
k, so I thought: Porcelain Figurines (the kind advertised in mags)
ok, sounds good...
Leaves - Name That Tree Lightfittings, Lampshades Deck Designs (backs of playing cards) Calligraphy Art
that's it
Interesting. I like 'em all but especially Name That Tree.
And speaking of naming the icon - Babbler, who's your picture? I can't place it and it's making me crazy
LOL where do you get them from. Love the name that tree and Atalante will have a nervous breakdown for the Calligraphy art with all her wonderful work. Great stuff.
all in favour say 'Aye' TheFiz, it's Jilly Cooper : )
aye :)
Aye!
Aye
Aye!!!!!!
thanks FMitch! Well, I was just dropping off to sleep one night, and I had idea after idea and kept putting the light on to write them down, lol!
babbler, has there ever been a theme of selfportraits (i.e., pictures of our own lovely faces?)
ever do trains babbler? or children's books
...ni! : )
no, Dorens... but I was around when someone did a South Park self portrait, so I added that to the list. if that counts?
yay for calligraphy!
can we have pre-raphaelites??
I can't remember featherbee, which means we can add them, LOL!
yes! pre-raphaelites!
LOL Anj
Dorens - that hasent been done and I think that is a great idea
well, its time for lunch, I will ttyl
kind of wonder what you all look like, even tho i'm loathe to show myown face
hmm, how about architecture?
bye lady! enjoy your lunch.
like that feather
I'm pretty sure we've had architecture. But it was a while back so I can add that too.
Dorens - I'm fine with my face - it's the self portrait part that gets me. I'm artistic in other ways but not so much drawing - I wouldn't want you all to get the wrong idea, that I have 3 eyes or that my ears don't line up or something
lol fiz
Babbler - howsabout a Lord of the Rings special?
so shall I schedule a self-portrait day and still keep the South Park self portrait day?
why not, Movieman! Lord of the Rings / Hobbit, so there's scope?
Pardon me for being dense but what is a South Park self portrait?
actually, babbler, i'm not an artist..didn't mean selfportrait,meant photos of selves
hey, everyone - just checking out the puzzle for today
Can we keep it as loose as a self portrait or a photo
TheFiz - it's a self-portrait done in the style of South Park.....
hehee!! you haven't lived, TheFiz! It's this site where you can basically draw your own character, and add whatever you like.
would the wizard of oz be too narrow a theme?
I think that's way beyond my skill set
hi Ping : )
de4/6 hints pls, bad day can't see it
FMitch, good thinking.
hi babbler - who is in your icon?
yes i totally agree
you could soup up a photo FMitch. that would count
hi ping
Ping, it's Jilly Cooper : )
mva, think art de**
MVA, art-de**
babbler, hwo about favourite pets?
can we have a green day? or a place you grew up day
we
we would see lots of cats then, hetty....but good idea
thanks jen, long day
favorite musician?
Hetty - how can I pick between my two darlings?!?!?
we've had favourite pets, twice I think (??). All in favour for a reschedule say Aye.
babbler - don't know her -will have to do some research!
aye
well why don't you roll the whoe lot of our images into into one big day, South Park, self portrait and pics
the fiz, get a pic of them together?
and dorens, ty
I know the feeling, MVA :)
I've not been babbling long, so I may have missed that idea-can never have too many cats, and 2 of themtogether would be a hoot
I've not been babbling long, so I may have missed that idea-can never have too many cats, and 2 of themtogether would be a hoot
we've had Green, if was Evanadine's favourite colour for her birthday (wow, my memory is fab sometimes!). Haven't had a place you grew up, I don't think, Ata.
FM, i don't know, i kind of think it might be better to keep south park and the pic of yourself seperate
that's a good point, we've had a lot of new people join this year, hetty
Do you think I can get both my cats and my frog in the same photo without anyone getting eaten?
good luck trying.
could be fun trying , thefiz
Probably right feather :)
a rupert Campbell-Black day would be fab, but would confuse everyone who hasn't read Jilly lol
thefz--that's rather like crossing a river with a fox and som echickens---
LOL!! but I wouldn't mind all the Rupert Campbell-Blacks! XD
How about a fancy dress day?
nor would I!
I think I should add all these ideas in, as it's been a while for some. Everyone agree?
...how about an Escher day : )
Go for it Babbler
aye
Rupert makes me think of the Rupert books of my childhood--which leads to--what about graphic novels?
have cars been a theme before (i'm fairly new)? maybe old cars or futuristic cars or car you drive now?
oh, except for Rupert Cambell-Black day, not sure how that would go down. We've had an Escher Day, haven't we Anj? I'll put it in, I think it was last year anyway.
time for me to fly.....have a great day, all
bow about other artists? georgia o'keeffe or jackson pollock?
...temp gauge is now reading 120'f : s The plants have dragged themselves to the bathrrom and are helping themselves to a cold shower...
Cars is good. We've had it, but there's lots of scope, so I'll put it in again
bye dorens
poor Rupert LOL. what about an aeroplanes day?
or Robert Bateman?
okay....please pardon my ignorance.....but whats an Escher Day??
Yea. Fireworks!
what's a graphic novel, hetty?
crikey, I'm having trouble keeping up with ideas! :s
bye dorens, time for to as well, be back later. Congrats Jen!
meant to say time to go. bbl
Escher is an artist who enjoyed playing with optical illusions. Very clever stuff
Anj - it might help if you turned the central heating off!!!!
M.C. Escher is a celebrated etcher...
turtles!
Poor Anj. Is there a breeze round your way? There's a slight breeze here.
might be fun to have some more open-ended themes too...think weather, flight, love, things like that :)
Thankyou FMitch *hurriedly invents starbuster bomb, lights blue touchpaper, flees to a distant galaxy* This is going to smart a bit... X D
sorry all - just got sucked in to South Park Portrait land - didn't mean to get ahead of myself!
Oh there's a lovely breeze where I am......so much nicer than yesterday....but just as hot!!
TheFiz - it's horribly addictive, isn't it? LOL
LOL erda!
I'll put all your ideas in, Elalyr. : )
darn, i had an idea earlier, and lost it
good idea, ela
I'm only back because I accidentally put on the wolfman face and can't get it off.
hi featherbee
babbler, you see my question about wizard of oz? would that be to narrow a scope?
hiya ping
Anj, who's your icon? I'm guessing Charles de Lint?
ty Ping...
no, featherbee, I missed Wizard of Oz. hmm... might be a bit too specific... but it's my favourite movie! Ooh I'm torn. Someone else decide for me! :s
Afternoon, all. No yoyo?
Babs, yup. I finished Moonlight & Vines last night so it sort of chose itself...
I CANNOT BELIEVE that yoyo isn't a word...
feather, how's your project going today?
So Babbler have you read all of Jilly's books?
people could go with the books too i guess
yoyo is a nono as it's yo-yo : )
Anj, there's another book waiting for me at the library, I forget which. I just can't go out in this heat to collect it. : /
about to eat lunch, then work on it ping! check my profile for hte latest pics
Flask1 - I've read the vast majority of her stuff. There are a few I haven't read yet, but only cos I want to start right from the beginning again!! LOL!! I've got a lot of her books. :D
Oh, Anj. Always have to be a killjoy with the proper punctuation, I see.
i will, feather - my daughter is a thomas fan too
Gotta run - back tonight late. Keep cool everyone!
I love books.......however, she is someone I haven't tried yet!
feather, just checked - it's looking terrific!
Flask1 - I've been reading her since I was a kid and she used to write for a newspaper. Then I discovered she wrote short stories and I got into them when I was still at school. She's intelligent, very witty, and a bit cheeky too. I love her .
she's fab!
thanks! *grin* next is the river that will come out of hte mountains
would you agree with my description of her Ata?
yup :)
FIREWORKS for me! Bye for today. Going to try to stay cool. Maybe if I were out on the "Black Pearl"??????????????????????
We spent the day at an amusement park with the man's nephews and we both got sunburn
Hi Aloy
It's been hot here for a while now, and we're really hoping it'll cool down soon. We're not used to this kind of heat.
why is it that on hot days, it's only the daggiest dresses that are the most comfortable?? : / (lol!)
Hey FMitch.. you probably are done.. I found a bunch this morning, early... have 17 more to go, so its not bad at all.. hi to caitlyn too..
Is it me or is the chat log slow today?
Strange global heatwave. Hmm. Let's blame the middle east. They cause all the trouble anyway.
same reason an ice cream cone will fall down icream first Babbler
slow, very slow... heat stroke!
it's probably the heat. the chat log is suffering from heat exhaustion! : /
That's so true Babbler! My favourite piece of clothing is this shapeless & holy bag of a dress that has definately seen it's best days long ago
lol FMitch!
mine is this tatty dress that's seen better days! lol!
((Aloy)) - you are right I finished in the cooler hours of the UK's morning but it is a good grid.
caitlyn - probably see you there tomorrow? as its going to be more of the same?
yes! I'm going to get some wine in and celebrate on 7th August!
Nah, Babbler. Although, he did use the "s" word in front of an open microphone yesterday. Hilarious. They played it in full on CNN. Cracked me up.
lol, i'm just popping in so i can get my link from my profile easily!
I just looked at the weather forecast for the UK, my goodness! I hadn't realised they forecast 33C for Scotland as well!! That's unheard of!
Oops I need to clean my glasses - its the past tense ca you need
Misu, that would be having gone down the river already, the leader of a parish, and the thing that is rotting
de 6/24 an ordained minister
thanks you ibdaw - much more eloquent!
I need a clue for the ca6 while we're in that neighborhood.
can someone give me a clue?
a word
judi think burt reynolds and deliverance -mode of transport
a word
well, gotta go finish packing and head for the airport, have a conference and a grandbaby to attend!
lbdawger - i have river transport and it's plural. However, the 6 is eluding me. I thought it was "one who " drives the river transport. But that doesn't work. A2Z is no help either.
yoohoo you were on earlier today so no quite so new. Or have you come back to play the game the right way?
Bye lbdarger
FMitch - the status is being very quo and I am thankful -- I am settling into my new position fairly well and actually having some fun doing it -- though shuffling batteries in a nonclimate controlled warehouse in 90+ degree weather is definitely not in my top ten list of fun things
But this is definitely not one of the easier grids today, is it?
(((Hugs)) GW - you just keep doing what works the good bits will come soon
s.g4s.a - nothing like pushing your luck! You have been a nuisance,the site administrator has been informed.
s.g4s.a if you are not going to attempt to play the grid, there is no point in coming in
Rolin - I got a £50 note here that you can have
Hello folks. Too hot here, at least upstairs, so can't sleep yet. I've been playing 'Boggle' Can anyone tell me how the 'Team' players manage to come top with, for instance, 118 words in 3 mins when most others, even fast thinkers and typists like me, get 39? Is there some kind of 'cheat program' they use or something?? If so, where's the fun in that?
well congratulations cathy!!
hi jac!
i don't know jac, i stopped playing boggle after nrk got a lot of us hooked on the quote puzzler games
Good evening to one and all -- time to try for a finish -- still have 46 to go :)
well...gonna go watch the local news...my b/f's daughter's ex boyfriend hung himself today just b4 the opening of a flea market...and get this... the people running the flea market left him hanging there, threw a blanket over him and continued with their flea market while they waited for the coroner to arrive!!! (3 hrs later!!!) HOW pathetic is that????
Hi Fran. As I say to others, if you ever see me on a plane, don't greet me like that! LOL.
hi wolfie!
Hi Wolfie. How are you and the family?
heh, heh, good one jacula!
(actually it happened on the weekend but should be on the news 2nite I'm told)
cathy, that's horrible! i think i would have not opened the flea market, how unfeeling.
Cathyar - that's awful!
We are all doing well -- we just had a major thunderstorm roll through here and we spent the half hour before Kristianna's bedtime sitting by the window watching lightning and listening to thunder
isn't it!!! i'll watch and give clues at the same time if anyone asks
Cathyar - surely any normal human reaction would be to cut him down immediately?
isn't it the most callous thing to do!!! the poor guy! prob hung himself b/c no one seemed to care and in his end...no one really even acted like it!!!
Wolfie - glad to hear you're all well. How's the job going?
seriously jac...i totally agree
It is scary how powerful the dollar has become that simple human courtesy gets superseded by the pursuit thereof
3 left - how about a clue for ce4 (not the one that means to give up)
totally true greywoulf
The job.... is
lauren, ce + i don't **re what you think
Actually, it has been tricky trying to learn everything a guy who has been on the job for 18 years knows in only 2 weeks
good clue fran...was gonna try n find the meaning to help clue lauren...but yers is quicker
with these strange words the def doesn't help much unless one is willing to google for words...which i don't mind doing if you're ever in the position to clue a word for me some time!!
yer right fran....many many weird words this grid
Good evening to my fellow Babblers!How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers!YAY!
i hope they don't really expect you to learn it all for real woulf!!
excellent - how about the li4-5? not the big car
Wolfie - re the job. Yes, I can imagine! Re the dollar domination - sadly too true. But I'm shocked by what Cathyar has told us.
hi min! i'm great, how about you?
Hi Min -- and hi from Seb as well
Hello Minver.
lauren, change the last consonant
Incidentally, I finished the grid around lunchtime UK time... so, if any clues are needed...
Jac -- whar's the temp by you?
sorry, that's not right lauren, the li4/5 is change last letter of the big car to a consonant
thanks!
u r good jac!!! u really know yer words!
Hey...hi Minver!
Does anybody have a clue for the li 4/7 word please?
a clue for ANY dr word woulod be gratefully accepted, ca't see any of them LOL
min, tastes like a citrus fruit
can't type either
Never Mind! I jut got li 4/7 word. Thank you anyway!
aknitter, dr4/5 rhymes with what an oak or elm are
Does anybody have a clue for the li 5/12 word please
dr4/9 rhymes with star tr**
Temp has been in the top 80s on the shady side of the house here, Wolfie. 87 deg F in the rabbit shed (which was open and had a fan going) and 104 deg F in the greenhouse (which was also open).
ty fran that gave me a shove
li5/12 is like the lovely scented bush...but change the middle consonant
Li4/5 that's not the big car means 'to depict by painting or drawing', if that helps.
yw aknitter!
i guess we're feeling the effects of global warming, eh?
find it minver?
we have been in the high 90s, over 100 w/ heat index, the past two days, Jac - hence the T-storm tonight
Finished!
yay lauren!!!!!
linac
oops
lauren great job!
that's it woulf!!!
we've been awaiting t'storms here for over a month...they're threatened weekly...i suspect we're doomed for a big hurricane this fall
ty grey wolf!
Storms are expected here tomorrow night, Wolfie. As you know, I view those with trepidation... Not because I don't enjoy a good thunderstorm but because they cause flash floods which have flooded my house 4 times in the past.
Seb is being fussy and distracted ne
the world is falling apart!!!
ah always blame the kid!
LOL Wolfie - I was going to say that li5/12 is short for linear accelerator, but I don't need to now!
no blame -- merely an explanation -- I accept full responsibility :D
war and rumours of war... weather changes everywhere
minver? did u find the li5?
Cathyar - Your last post. I saw you with a billboard front and back (end of the world is nigh!) then. LOL.
es 5?
Wolfie - you mean it wasn't Seb who typed the word???:-)
LOL
aknitter, one who es*s a question
es5 - A long, narrow ridge of coarse gravel deposited by a stream flowing in or under a decaying glacial ice sheet.
lol jac...seriously...i'm llistening to news on tv as i attempt to give clues...and with u all talking about the bad weather... just puts one to mind of "revelations"
not to mention the unfeelingness of the world today...(like the guy who hung himself i mentioned earlier).
Cathyar - not really taking the 'p'; I do know what you mean about Revelations.
feeding Seb -- willl chat again soon
we're perhaps in the beginning of global "cleansing"
later woulf!
Okay Wolfie.
es 5 located! ty all
revelations as in the bible (and i'm not a religious sort)
looking for re 5/22
phan, put in another word perhaps
re5/12... a landlord often does it to the door locks when a tenant moves out
Cathyar - I think the last piece of news that shocked me so much was the story of a young girl here in UK, a child, who was run over and had her leg broken, bones sticking out etc., who crawled across the road as at least 8 or 9 cars steered around here (so their drivers wouldn't be late for work???)
OMG Jac!!! That is soooo horrific!!!
The piece of news before that, about 4 years ago, was a picture of a dead baby dumped in a gutter in China. Everyone walked past and no one turned a hair except for the US and European reporters.
thanx Cathyar
grey woulf mentioned earlier about the almighty dollar that too many of us worship...seems so true
welcome phandmd
I just finished my li words.Thank you all for the clues!
Congratulations Lauren on fireworks!Hooray for you!
i think that has been typical for years in China Jac...many baby girls thrown into dumpsters...that is why so many americans and canadians travel so far and spend so much adopt chinese baby girls...so many are considered beneath newborn boys
re5/22 - to type in again.
(or so i understand)
congrats lauren!!!
hello
woulfie, if you're still there, are you sending any more thunderstorms my way tonight?
hi again nrkii
Cathyar - that's what I understand, too. There is a saying in India that I was told by an Indian friend, 'Having a daughter is like watering your neighbour's tree'. In other words, re dowry etc., daughters only cost you money and don't bring you money.
Hi nrkii.
Seb just fell asleep -- I will be free to chat in about 5 more mins -- ssssshhhh
odd how cultures are so vastllly different...like female circumcision in india, etc.
jac, a different situation , but deplorable just the same is the story of the man who lay dying on everest while at least half a dozen people stepped over him to continue their climbs.
Not just India, Cathyar... Africa, too.
hi nrk!
i think in babble land at least we seem to share a love of helping each other...even though we are many of us from different countries
Fran, on a totally different and completely superficial topic, how DID you get over 1000 points on secret word yesterday? Did you dream the word up in your sleep??? :)
yes...true jac...i think that is where i actually first heard of it
FranMag - Yes, I read that story just before I went on holiday. Appalling! What's wrong with people these days? Has the milk of human kindness died?
what's this secret word i keep hearing of? is it babble-related?
compassion is so lacking in the world today
nrk, i just happened to get about 3 letters in the right position right off the bat, the rest just fell into place! i earned a star!!
Thank God for the Babble community!
that was awesome -- you left everyone else in the dust on that
what game are u talking about fran and nrkii?
Does anyone have a clue for the sk 5/18 word please
http://www.quote-puzzler.com/ cathyar
plus, as i told feather, i was the first to play and there was pressure to get a good score or feel dumb while 10 other people saw how badly i did!! :-)
there are 7 daily puzzles there -- take a total of about 30 - 45 mins to do
I think the milk has not died so much as it has begun to curdle cos noone remembered to put it back in the fridge
I be done finally. Thanx again for the help you guys gave.
yay phan!!!!
Anyone need clues? I'm sooooo excited I'm done!
yes fran, it is much tougher when you're in the early group, or first to play
Minver - sk5/18 - A double-edged dagger formerly used in Ireland and Scotland.
wow...just went to the site...looks like fun!
yay phandmd
!!!
(Sounds a bit like a hank of wool.)
yay...congrats phandmd
Congratulations phandmd on your fireworks!Hooray!
(Or a flock of geese.)
min, sk5/18 rhymes with le** on me
grey woulf...that is quite an analogy...re the curdled milk!
cathy, it's great fun and very challenging at the same time
cathy, it is fun ... there are at least 6 or 7 of us babblers who also do those puzzles
did someone mention wool??? ears perk up
i'm going to go check it out! brb
aknitter, sk5/18 is almost like a sk* of wool
Thank you FranMag for you sk clue.Finished sk words
found that one a long time ago, love wool and any wool reference
FranMag, 'Le** on Me' - the song by Bill Withers. LOL.
goooo min!!
Hey I'm not really here but fran and nrkii I just looked at the quote puzzler site. Do either of you want me to put your code in if I sign up?
I have such a good imagination I just saw the ears of aknitter's icon perk up! LOL.
hmmm...i think i'll check out the free games b4 i commit to a membership
use nrk's...i don't even know mine!
Hi MusicMom, though you're not really here.
musicmom, if you want to, that'd be great ... so far I haven't asked people to because I hate to have them feel like I am only having them join to get points!
jac wasn't your imagination, my eyes glow too LOL
lol jac!
nrkii - what is your's?
no problem.
jac...and she growls...though not today...yet!
there should not have been an apostrophe in that post.
had to go retrieve it, sorry... it's MU0F42
and thanks!
oooh...membership is free in quote puzzler!
Hi jac. Finished the grid earlier. I'm supposed to be doing paperwork.
i am going to start though, the mo's are killing me
MusicMom - since you are not really here, we will forgive you the greengrocers' apostrophe.
It only sounds like i'm going to go play another game<G>
after a week cathy, you won't get all the games without subscribing...there are prized though.
cathyar, sort of...
I hate when I make stupid typos like that
DE 5/18; 6/24 & 7/44 clues please 8 left to complete
you can do 4 of the 7 puzzles for free forever, and the other 3 you can do for free for a couple weeks to try them out
thanks for the SK 5 I kept trying to make it end in DU
okay seriously - I have to go. I'll talk to you all tomorrow.
have the too rotting DE's
by MM!
bye, that is!
de 5 - when something rots
Wolfie - Blue Mink once sang 'All we need is a great big melting pot...' That was to make everyone one colour, creed etc. I think your fridge thing is more appropriate now.
ronni, de5/18 is either rot or decieve with a stand-in like a de*** duck
ronnie, do you have the fake duck de's?
Ok -- let's see if I can finish now -- I wrestled the sleeping infant into his sleep sack and put him in his bassinet -- mama is watching her show for the moment and I have only 36 left to find ---- Let's roll!!
de6/24 is an official in the church
gooo woulf!!!
de 6 is a church leader
gooooooooo woulf!
too slow
de7/44 is what the duck is
then those who do the de5/18 makes them the 7s
and with clues like those just given, I am gonna fly!
hello babble fiends - i meant friends!
Sorry, giggling now... got visions of Wolfie and Seb in mortal combat. LOL.
there's more where those came from woulf, just say the word!!
hey everyone !
hi ping!
hiya ping!
hi helenkeller!!
got the church DE, thanks
Ping - Freudian slip maybe?:-)
hi helen!
yes, oops!
Fran if I could say the word, I wouldn't need the clue!! ;D
now have the duck DE's thanks a bunch
Wolfie - LOL.
how about the an5 or the cy6?
Helen - Hi!
nrkii...i just used your code too for quote puzzler...hope u don't mind
an 5 is very very bad spelling for the opp of friend
woulf, an5 is social decay brought about by erosion of values...just what we've been talking about
u should have tons of points now
oops fran!
the an 5 means what we were all taking about -- swociety and its down fall of morals
Ping - Did you know that a long-standing typing error, especially if typists are bored, is beginning a formal letter, 'Dead Sir'? It's true! I used to proofread.
cathyar, not at all! for each paying person I get to sign up, I get 200 stars which equates to 20 extra days on my yearly membership... :)
cy6 is first 3 letters of crashing instrument and first three letters of ***es of poetry
animo
and if you don't sign up for $ membership, that's okay too, as it is only 20 days to me -- LOL!!
oops Babble!
Babblephish - not a word.
oh...ok...well i didn't pay...at least not yet...wanna check it out for a few days first
nrkii - i have not done well with the puzzle because i never read the directions
I know. but still an oops!
ping, i started doing much better after actually reading directions also!! :-)
ah ping, well as my father always says, "if all else fails... read the directions!"
Jac, are you sure that is true? It sounds fishy to me!
For an5/16, try Latin word for 'year' minus a consonant + possessive pronoun.
Ping - No, it is true. It's the most common typing error.
I'm starting to get the hang of some of them now, but my free membership has already expired!
fran, i hear ya!
Look at your keyboard and you will see why.
Thanks -- got the an
ping, you can also do archive quote puzzles
babblephish, just saw what i typed!!! sorry. :-(
the archives are free?
Also, 'stay' often turns into 'shag' when typists are mithered and rushing. LOL.
the way I was tought to type, i would be more likely to type "deat sir"
And i did it right after you Fran! ;)
ping, yes, the quote puzzle archives are free
24 left for me
jac, rushing off to do something apparently!
gooooo babblephish!
did the cy get clued and I missed it?
was anyone here this morning when the schoolkids joined us?
27 for me babblephish - wanna race?
yes woulf...cy6 is first 3 letters of crashing instrument and first three letters of ***es of poetry
20 left here!
ping, I wasn't here but I heard from feather that it happened -- she didn't share details though
i was ping
off to bed
woulf, cy6 is another name for a pattypan squash.
night phan!!!!
re 5/10 please
Wolfie - cy6/30 - first 3 letters of a brass percussion instrument (used in pairs) + first 3 letters of what you draw with a ruler.
Ronnie - co5/16 = more shy.
The log's flying anyway, Wolfie. Much faster than earlier today.
bbs
Who asked about the schoolkids? Missed them, I guess. Where they funny or pestilent?
maybe because i'm a former school teacher? but maybe you are too?
thanks jacula
no ping, not a former school teacher, former boutique buyer
i thought they were very silly
ES 5/18 & LI 5/12
jac, they were probably funny at first, but by the time i came on they were getting annoying.
ronnie, es5/18, one who es*s a question
it seemed that there teacher let them log into the game to practice their English but they decided the puzzle was too hard and they would just chat
li5/12, like light purple color, change middle consonant
there = their
Not a former school teacher, Ping, though the school I went to only wanted us to be teacher or top tennis players (Ann Hayden-Jones was at my school). I am a Mum - I know kids...
thanks franmag for the LI clue
ping, where were they from?
Did you go to school near wimbledon?
i clued the es also ronnie, look lower
Ping - that often happens on here. Were they Aussie kids or UK kids? Those are the usual 2 groups who embarrass their teachers (who play on here in their own right).
i'm not sure, fran - i thought it was a foreign country though
Ping - No. Ann was a Birmingham girl. Not Birmingham, Alabama!
20 to go
just saw the ES clue, got that one now thanks franmag
brb folks
only 2 words left, the ye 4/6 and mo 4/5(not the sound or the sort of cash)
The kids were rolin's students - she did express her apologies to the log for their poor behavior
goooo helen!!!
I missed the AN clue something about enemy
Oh dear! Poor Rolin! Is this a new lot or the ones she introduced before, Wolfie?
jac, i have a british friend who told me her h.s. was so close to wimbledon that she would walk over there after school to watch the matches
i think i got all the easy ones, now all that's left is the extremely bizarre
is Rolin British?
I have no idea Jac -- I was on for only 10 minutes earlier -- just when one of them was at their most annoying
got the mo, 1 left the ye 4/6
helen, there are a bunch of those!
6 to go!!
lol ping!
Ping - I can assure you that Miss Hayden (Haydn) -Jones grew up in Kings Norton, B'ham, UK. She still lives locally.
Wolfie - okay, being in Canada, I'll let you be 'PC'. I grew up with Westerns, so they're Red Injuns to me! LOL.
My DSL keeps going in&out too. I hope that does not slow me down! It did that during the last storm aslso.
heading out to pillow & mattress test while listening to the sound of the pitter patter raindrops
thanks for all the clue help this evening
The world is becoming so Politically 'Correct' these days that even the people who the laws were originally meant to 'protect' take the pee out of them.
Does anyone have a clue for the ca 6/24 word please
ca 6/24 -- what them thar "injuns" did in that boat
jinx knitter and jac!!
good night all
I was here for both invasions of rolin's brats. Last night (PDT time) one introduced itself by announcing "u stink". Another called adam1 kept saying "clues pls" over and over again, and he was the least obnoxious! Rolin threw them out, big time. Some returned this morning and were equally disruptive, but unfortunately rolin was not online.disruptive.
Thank you all for the ca clues.I finished my ca words!
Peace pipe anyone? LOL.
night lgorms! did you finish?
yes, nice and easy today :}
yay lgorms!!
gooo min!
jillibus - I think on Sunday night(?) when I'd been up for over 40 hours travelling home from Crete, I told Adam1 to 'go forth and multiply'?
OK, now I can try to help for a bit
What a mistake, jacula!!!!
jac, so that's what happened...there were so many of them last night!
firewords !!!!!!!
yay helen!!!!
Aknitter - have you not read back through the log today? I am a smoker but I got my come uppance when I switched my fan on and forgot to move my ashtray....
Adam1 gave me a clue by telling a word. So I thanked him for his help and told him how to clue. He kept on typing words in log. I did not know he was a student.
Helen - I will fire words at you if you wish. LOL.
fireworks!!!
i missed that jac, sorry to say that i laughed outloud when i read that
yay paco & shelley!!
me too jac, but it probably wasn't funny at the time.
jacula - you're back !! how was your trip?
Aknitter - so did many others. I've washed my sweaty, ash-covered face now though.
well i am off to bed, don't want to be a tired cranky sheep
ok. i'm used to struggling towards the end of a grid. but this is ridiculous. i honestly just do not comprehend how there can still be 48 words left in that mess.
night aknitter!
good nite aknit :)
sneaks of to bed thinking of jac and her ashen covered face (not laughing though ;)
need some cluing darci ?
darci, there are some strange ones for sure
Bye aknitter!Thanks for the clues! See you tomorrow
here's one...cy6 is first 3 letters of crashing instrument and first three letters of ***es of poetry
Helen - Yes, I'm back. Trip (there and back; cattle class) was HORRIBLE! But bits in between were great. I fell in love with the Aegean Sea and the island of Spinalonga. I'm hoping to get a proper travel diary on BabAnon soon.
wow, fran. thanks! never would have gotten that one.
Congratulations helenkeller on fireworks! Good for U!
back for a coupla...
i for one and looking forward to that jac!
Jillibus - you ex-smokers are far more pious and righteous than non-smokers! LOL.
thanks, helen. i think i'm too tired for clues at the moment. haven't even looked at lickety's list yet.
(Not being nasty. I know I'd be the same. I was over dieting when I finally cracked it!)
jac - travel diary complete with pics, i hope :)
annie still here? (hi all!)
glad you had a great time! what airline did you fly?
hi feather
jac, i want to see the killer mosquitoes that resisted the repellants!
hey feather! hey nrk!
6 stars nrkii????????? wow!
feather, I don't know what happened!
you had the golden touch!
I logged on today thinking maybe 3, and got the message that I had 6!
hiya feather
FirstChoice, Helen. Wasn't my choice and, given the experience, wouldn't be again. I mean, what kind of people try to serve you breakfast at 4.15am and sell you stuff and keep waking you up when they know you've been hanging around, not allowed to sleep, since 8 am or earlier?
hiya nrkii
hiya helen
darci - lickey's clues helped me finish without asking for help :)
that's awesome nrk!
'We hope you've enjoyed your night with us,' they said. Yea, right!
now my goal is to somehow get a perfect 7 stars one day... HA!
jac - is that a british airline - i never heard of it?
They froze us first and then told us their limited supplu of blankets and pillows were for children only. Plus they wear a horrible pink uniform.
Poof, jac, I used to think so too. It was my son and his wife, who had given up, and their kids who talked me into it and I paid no attention. Then I had to go on a 5-hour flight to visit them, and smoking was banned on the plane. I couldn't face 5 hours smokeless, so used every crutch available to give it up. When I got there I found my son had taken it up again. But *halo expected* I persisted.
Helen - I'd never heard of it either. It wasn't me who booked the hol.
their blankets and pillows were for children only????
ugh - delta did that to me once with the blankets!! i wanted to kill!
brb, poopy diaper alert!
jillibus - re the smoking - this lot searched our bags for lighters and matches on the out flight! Outrageous!
No such thing was said on the home flight though.
but delta ran out of them - also lost my luggage on that trip, plus we had unexpected lay-over in denver - i ended up with $300 in bonus coupons cause i raised such a stink when i got back here, lol
Jacula, to keep you from being terrorists, or to keep you from lighting up in the wc?
lol nrkii
nrkii - they don't think we can control ourselves then?
to stop the next 9/11 --- sorry, but we haven't forgot that have we?
nut, not at all, just wasn't sure if the airline was grabbing lighters and matches for THAT, or to keep folks from smoking... given context of conversation
Not forgotten 9/11 at all. But the so-called security checks are so ... can't think of the word right now.... anyway.... they wouldn't stop a terrorist if he looked honest.
I've had the bag checkers seriously consider confiscating my tweezers...
remember what they held up the planes with last time, now warp your mind so that it thinks like a terrorist...what could you manage with a lighter if you were mcgyver
wow...i have seen many high-ranking babblers in the quote puzzler games...you are right nrkii...it is fun!
Thing is, re 'sharp objects' - you could make a sharp object of anything, your fingers included.
jeez evan - how can we freakin forget - there's a movie coming out next month - world trade center -just saw the previews on tv - now to me - that's really poor taste!
now granted, I imagine a very skilled person like mcgyver could do a lot with tweezers, but with that much skill you could do a lot with LESS than tweezers
Jac, my point exactly....
jac - i spend my days rooting out bad guys, and lemme tell you, they are still there, and they're gonna keep trying.
i'm not thrilled about those movies...makes me uncomfortable for some reason
If you really wanted to, you could make a weapon out of almost anything... a CD case for instance could be cracked and be sharp.
Where does it stop?
the tweezer thing i can see - as in harmless. but a lighter has massive potential.
nut, not disagreeing there...
jac, remember the Shoe Bomber? Guess that's why no matches or lighters. Time magsays -- 30,000 - Average # of lighters the TSA confiscates DAILY (!) at airport checkpoints!
Litigation is the worry for all these companies - not people blowing people up. It all comes down to money again. Sadly.
BRB.
I remember the old days, when I used to carry butane in my carry-on...
Evanout,
agreed jacula - greed :(
I am curious' what do you do?
a LOT of butane
again, NOT litigation, sorry,m
the almighty $$$...unfortunately it makes the world spin these days...problem is we are spinning so fast...we're all dizzy with greed
godthad, i'm one set of eyes in many
hmmmm, I don't agree cathyar
I saw that line of discussion earlier, and I think it simplifies us too much
agree w/nrkii, but the ones dizzy with greed seem to take up the spotlight
evanonut, glad to have you keeping your eyes open, in all sincerity -- god speed
i'm one set of eyes in many.... In many what?
it's everywhere nrkii...all around ... no real love and compassion in the world these days. the most important things in life seem to take backstage to the almighty dollar
many eyes of course!
oh cathy, I couldn't disagree with you more
So what do you do to root out bad guys?
people are stepped on everywhere so others can get ahead.
love and compassion IS all around, if you look
cathy, i'm sorry you're so set like that against the world
wow, I don't claim there isn't bad in the world too, but to say there is "no real love and compassion" seems drastically far from reality -- I'm sorry if that is what you see
yes.. so i'm told...if you look and give of yourself ...the old cliche...do unto others (blah blah)...tried that route...get stomped on always
godthaab - it's a job, i'm a sleuth...i check people out.
Very cool!
i believe if we put love & compassion on one side of the scale & greed on the other - the # of starving, war-displaced, needlessly sick people would bring those scales crashing down on all our heads
cathyar - that golden rule is supposed to apply to your rewards after this life.
not set against the world...will never give in and become like those who ARE truly greedy...i just find people do not put themselves in others shoes enough...too busy with their own lives to notice.
uuuuuuuu whooooooooo
hi ren!
RRRRRENNNNNNNNNNNNNNIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!! !!!!
wow, this is a depressing (or depressed) lot tonight
hiya ren
exactly evanonut... that's what matters...how u live your life here...the rewards will come after
hey ya fran and nrkii and nutty buddy!!!!!!!
not really depressing...just reality.
hello everyone
c'mon cathyar - let's get happeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!
ren, please come tell us how wonderful you think the world is, and people are...
hi kalea
hi kalea!
and certainly NOT depressed.
Cathyar - I'm not like that, any many people I know are not either. I'm not sure how the scales would tip if 50 % of the world stood on one side and the same on the other. I tend to think the good would still weigh a bit more.
love and compassion were very evident today when hetty was hostess (in spite of ill health) to stidmmama, her mama, stidmatt and his youger brother -- and me, on her birthday, when she had made her own chocolate birthday cake. Stid and family brought lunch and I was delighted to be included, even though they wouldn't use the champagne I brought (driving, y'know)
Hi Ren!
i love this world - i LOVE life - and i love everyone, even the people i hate...hehehe
i'm always happppppyyyyy!!!!!!
that's nice jilli!
oh...and how DID the meeting go between our fellow babblers?
cathyar, it's depressing for me to listen to you and helen
i love coffeee, i love tea...i love you all and.....you better love me!
hey mistress!!!!!
thanks ren, that does the trick
i'm happy on the outside cause that's what the world wants to see...if u act otherwise, people shun u.
love for ren - can you feel it???
lol ren
smiling :)
Hello renfield! How are you? Welcome to today's grid!
It was super - a total delight but too short -- they promise to come back here to paradise for another visit ;)))
hey min!
sorry to bring u down...nrkii...not my intention. just reality as i see it.
ren, your eye is funky!
hey ka
cathy - if i could give you a big ole hug and shove a prozac down your throat i would, but i can't so i'll just (((((cathy)))))
Hello kalea! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
it's a wendigo!
ROFLOL NUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hello Min........smiles
it's depressing for me to see multi-million $ movies made about the world trade center when people can get good healthcare coverage - this kind of stuff doesn't so much depress me as make me very, very angry
that's what you were talking about earlier!
Someone (sorry, can't find the post now, it's moving so fast) said we'd been depressing in our discussions tonight... Sorry about that, it may have been me that continued it, in a way, after Cathyar saying about the chap hanging himself in a flea market and the market still going on until the coroner came 3 hours later to cut the poor guy down.
As the Armstrong singer said,"It's a Wonderful World"
lol jill...that's great!!! aww...evanonut. love hugs n lots of em, but prozac or drugs of any sort are not necessary to accept reality
*can't* get good healthcare coverage
Helen - is the profit from the film not going to the victims' families? If not, that is appalling.
helen, move to pa - - my husband got excellent healthcare from the state, good ole fast eddie hasn't cut that out yet.
welp - it made it interesting....
lol...ok... life is all state of mind...that is for sure.
Hi min and ren - must explain I'm using tomorrow's Planet Earth icon bedcaue I'll have to miss joining the group and I thought it was a fun one (see profile)
I've just been reading the chat log with great sadness. After our lovely day together here on the island--Stidmam and Stiddmatt and jilli and I--it's hard to join in the worrying about wrongdoing when like AnnFrank I believe people are basically good . Oh--just saw jilli's remarks. Thanks , jilli, it was lovely, wasn't it?
how about a clue on the an 5?
cath - nothing wrong with prozac, i took it and i'm pretty sure i'm still real *pinches self* OUCH
jac- i don't know, but then again you have to consider --- IF there's a profit
and there are always people worse off and better off than others.
ren, a + french for name + sometimes vowel
an + vowel _ belonging to me
attitude matters in a successful life....
i don't think i'll be seeing it cath - i imagine the younger generation might though
okay, I'm not up for this conversation I guess...
good night all!
'Night nrkii.
an/5 takes the ending used in science from the Latin for law--nomos--change os to sometime vowel
lol.....the _ was supposed gto be a +
and loving others regardless of circumstance
Does anyone have a clue for the de 5/18 word please
night nrkii - lots of luv kiddo!
night nrk! see you tomorrow.
good nite nrkii :)
de5/18 - to rot.
Actually,I need both de 5/18 words if you have them.
which one, Min?
i'm going nrkii...don't worry...u can stay... don't mean to depress
bye
Bye nrkii! Thank you for the clues!See you tomorrow!
if your tooth gets a cavity its because of tooth de***
cathyar, i AM about to march up there, call me captain prozac, and i'm bringing my super prozacinator lazer with me.
besides my doggie needs to pee
the other de word is a hunter's fake duck
de5/18 - one who lures the hunter away from the hunted.
min, one is rot and one is a de*** duck used to fool other ducks
de5/18 "ch*** and de*** in all around I see"
i love life, i am basically a very happy person, but all it takes is a few to ruin it for alot - one more word : enron
*smooch* cathyar
thanks fran - nite nrkii....sweet dreams are made of this!
who are wee to disagreeeeeee?
oh, tho who changest not abide with me
okay, now I'm back, and I hope cathyar hasn't gone yet...
traveled the world and the seven seas...
My daughter just came off Prozac and started smoking. I hate her smoking, even though I'm a smoker. I didn't think a lifetime on Prozac was a good option either.
Does anyone have a clue for the de 7/44 word please
I left because I truly ran out of things to say
everyone is looking for....words
i refuse to allow the "bad" ones to spoil my appreciation of how good life can be, and the many wonderful people in it
Actually,I need both de 7/44 words if you have them.
min, add "one who" ending to both de5 words
jac - i only took it a year, and no smoooooking for me
nrkii - how about some clues then!
but I'll add this: we get to choose in this world between DESPAIR and HOPE... we don't get to control all the bad things that may happen around us, but we do control how we respond
well - i gotta go tend to laundry & dogs
and I choose to HOPE
just saw Jac's c lue, and iog course it's the same except for one letter
both de7's are comparative to the d5's
min - put the 'doer' ending on the 5/18's
i eact cheetos
eat
nrkii - i hope you daaaaaaaance
eat cheetos
well put nrk!!
and ren eats cheetos!
nice addition ren, thank you
chocolate works better.
She tells me it calms her down. Now... hang on.... when she was in hospital for 2 years or more she got printed info off the staff in her bid to stop ME smoking.... that info stated that nicotine agitates you, not calms you... I reminded her of that.
oh, don't leave, nrkii -- you're such a delight!
Does anybody have a clue for the do 4/5 word please
dance dance dance when you feel that beat
jac - i don't think anyone really knows why they start do they? i mean now, when we know
nrkii - Never feel you have to leave here because you don't know what to say.
nrkii, never lose your hope--it's the thing with feathers, as my poet says
min, rhymes with what you walk through
i have a popsicle that is melting
I'm not upset with anyone -- nobody made me mad, but I'm just saddened when I hear people focusing so much on what's wrong with the world -- I don't endorse putting your heads in the sand and pretending it's all wonderful, but CONTROL WHAT YOU CAN CONTROL, and HOPE for the best out of everyone... okay now I'm done
Jac, I was just sad and sleepy
and I agree with jac and jilli; I alwys love what you have to say
and ignore the rest - that's my policy
This is a great community with wonderful people. The only time I leave is when the schoolkids and/or trolls are being obnoxious and I need to sit on my hands.
did they go up the hill?
renfield..."lick it up...lick it up!" (possibly the worst KISS song ever)
lol butty buddy!
well, yes, the trolls... there's no hope for them I fear
i mean nutty buddy
i mean nutty buddy
i mean nutty buddy
i mean nutty buddy
nrk -- cheer up -- chins up, as my dad used to say to my plump mother :D
course there is, nrk.........when they grow up
makes me hungry for little debbie - i LOVE trolls
do 4/5... do + again prefix
Now, let's get down to business - who needs what?
cute jilli!
i just put on my dr. nut cap, and analyze
do 5 - i missed it
ren? you okay there?
trolls are cuddly and amusing
ren, plural nerd
wow, this is feeling a lot like the good old babble tonight guys!
i think so - for a moment i was trying to let nut know i mwant nutty
Did you know a twit is a pregnant fish?
i think she got the point ren! :-)
other clues before I really go to sleep? -- I got about 2 hours last night...
what were you letting me know ren???
lol hetty....
This last part of the chatlog is surreal. LOL.
oh yes, evanout -- how about Sue Grafton?
I have it on the best authority from myn teacher daughter; all her grade twelves know that
that you were not a butty buddy BUT a nutty buddy
Hey, what's life for if you can't be nutty?
lol back, ren
butt butt butty buttery
Mind you, fruity is good, too! LOL.
nut needs to go to a buddery
lol........they'll point you to management?
apparently the term originated in Australia
this is interesting...The tile stats indicate that I have 1 K word... It is not in My word list even after I refreshed...I wonder what it was?
i was once called a twit...
I've learned something there. I had no idea a twit was a pregnant fish.
lol ka!!!!
lmao, interesting last few posts here!
Sorry I have been quiet -- I found a game that involves blowing things up while defending a city called Final Fortress -- and now I have to go to bed
hey gw
babblephish, there are 2 K words
bye gw
I'm BAAA-AACK!!! Doggie had a pee. Now I feel inclined to advise u all I am NOT a depressed person. sometimes sad at the state of the world today and the seeming coldness of many in it, but I DO make the best of life and only hope and pray for the best for others...most especially those i love.
Mind you, I imagine the look on the face of a prgnant fish would be much the same as that on the face of a twit as we know it.
what is the k word?
hellooooooooo feather
Well dont you any of you go around calling people twits ever again
night wolfie!
Have a great night/day/whatever and I will see whomever whenever!! {{**HUGF**}}
