hey saphyre, i still need the clue for the ng
ng & small
No, ex-Wren, I didn't. I just happened to be passing at the time and a bank official came out to say they were running low. I didn't think it was fair to take one from someone who really wanted it.
how many letters in total ]saphyre?
5 blombol
it's a 5/22
I see the sh5/12 means there will be no shortage of fish to hand around.
i dont understand the terminology that you use. what does 5/22 mean. i only started this thing today so i am a little uneducated
it means that it is 5 letters long and is 22 points total
lol Haz, have a feeling will need lots of fish today too
blombol, which is why I suggested you take a look at Angelsongs' at the bottom of this page
read the help links for an explanation of how the points work
blombol, go to the bottom of the page and click on AngelSong's Babble Page. I am sure you will find it useful
Each tile has a point value. To determine the score for a word, the point-value for the length of the word is multiplied by the total letter values for the word: 4-letter word = 1 x Points,5-letter word = 2 x Points,6-letter word = 3 x Points,7-letter word = 4 x Points etc etc

blombol, do you have gi4/8?
gi5/20 - gi plus the letter that begins the word. Add two vowels at the end.

Mornin' All...

Good morning Odin!
Hello Odin
Mornin' Haz and Fran!

Hi everyone, I am so stumped with the sa7, 52. Is there a clue out there?
Yes, pappou - it's a figure skating jump. First three letters of a woman's name (think Miss Field) then a slang word for food/type of dog with a black tongue.
Hi Pappou - sa7.52 ends in the 4 letter word for food (or actally a dog breed as well)

farouk - we always point new players towards a site that you'll find under friends of Babble, bottom left of the page - Angelsong's Babble page. It will give lots of help.

Sleep well lickety - and can you do something to nobble the Australian cricket team?

ju 4/12 ---- 4 qts to a **llon
The woman who lived in a shoe was unnamed. Most of her children probably were as well.
She was old though....
you prove my point could have been the old one in the shoe
Must have been the worry of all the kids...
nursery rhyme fight!! LOL
No, no, no. The woman in the shoe wouldn't have had a dog as well. Not enough room.
I see, enemy, so the old one lived in the shoe and had a cupboard?
eggactly
But no dog? Maybe they had to eat the dog...

ng --- a tree: ***ping willow
It got down to a chilly -25C here overnight. About the only good thing I can say about it is that it might kill some of the pine beetles that have been plaguing our forests.
Faerie, do they have a store called Ross's near you. I went in to shop yesterday and found some of the cutest fairy statuettes for my yard, very cheap! Of course, you probably have plenty...
Never would have found that... Thanks

How about ca6/36 please
both gi's start with the same 3 letters one ends with opposite of she and the other is what I am doing giving a cl**
it's kind of obscure unless you know US investment firms.. try this:
the first three letters of an institution of learning
lshult, the pronounciation character that looks like an e upside down
Thanks EnemyisME.
wasn't marylin monroe discovered at sc 5's minus the last letter?
and the first two letters of an amble, perambulation or saunter
all my vast investments are elsewhere?1
Hi, all! Down to my last word and the monkey is exhausted! Cannot find the last we4/8? Any fishmongers out there to slap me silly?

put is on, Bernice
EnemyisME, your clue got it for me. would never have found it on my own, ty
had to look it up, bernice -- not a linguist!
enemy, what?
punctuation was already suggested...

it's not punctuation, it's a symbol for pronounciation
i already had posted it, at 11:35
any help on the last ha5 please

scarlet the last we --- left
I'm having trouble with the last ha5 also

Don't they call spanking 'the English vice'?
Bye Temple, thanks for the warning about faerie....I'll be watching out for her.

Why isn't re f5 a word?
English vice....hadn't heard that before.
Hmmm. So there was a use for that vaulting horse in the school gym after all...

hiya tor.
oh no fiz, hope yours don't have what mine has. mine has been...how do you say??? peeing inappropriately.
yikes. that smell never quite goes away, either. old cat?
6 years, he's always had bladder issues, blockages and infections.
my parents have one that is on 2 IVs for kidney failure - sad creature looks like a poodle, with shaved legs and tail for IV insertion purposes.
awwwww, poor little guy!
why isn't woah in? my horse ignored it for years!
it's there, but move your h to another place in the word denny
spellit different denny
what the heck is the sa7?
lol denny. the inexplicable ways of the enable dictionary - don't spend your time trying to figure it out, it will just make you nutty.
watchit fiz....
OOOps oh yeah:-P
nut...you've probably heard this before but that is really common in male cats (I didn't know that until we had issues too). We switched to a low ash, soft food and have never had another problem...more spendy but worth it (not having to replace furniture etc) Good luck, that is no fun for you or the kitty :(
ohhh, nut, you're the one and only nutty for me....
kristin, he's on prescription food, and last blockage cost us 500, my only hope is the vet doesn't say he needs surgery...i'm not fiscally fit if you know what i mean.
did anyone clue the sa7? If so, I missed it
nope...nary a clue espritdjean
i've been wasting time trying to monkey it
sa7 - this is on hel* of a grid and makes me want to **** down on some food!
ah, so you've already been there...quite the process I'm sure you know that even more than me. I really do hope there's an affordable option...it is so hard to make decisions based on cost but sometimes you have too. *sending good kitty vibes your way*

Maybe jean, I am going on a memory of 25 years ago...haven't thought of it really since then

You learned about it in grade***ool....it taught you a different **y to pronounce vowel sounds

Yep...power out on Wed for about 6 hours and Sunday night for about 4-5. We decorated by candlelight..kinda fun but cold even with a fire.
anee
I'm stuck in Vancouver too...this bites
We still have 6+ inches of snow and ice, ice, ice. We are as high as Queen Anne hill...just the other side of the freeway so we always get a lot of snow.
Huh...we have had unusually warm weather...up in the 60's, night time in the 40's...usually we are freezing our tushes off about now
very odd weather...the usually warmer parts of canada are unseasonably cold and more snow than used to!
no, where we live just a couple inches (maybe 5 cm) in all, but we don't often get ANY, and it made the roads very icy. Some of them are still treacherous. But we're less than 200 ft above water level and within 1/8 mile of the shore.
same here greengeeny...our weather we often have the snow British Columbia is now getting this time of year
been great here...s'psed to go up to 14 (celcius) on mainland nova scotia tomorrow.
It is odd...and we have had the warm weather for about a week now...I am holding my breath and waiting for the storm after the calm
I am just glad most of the people have been okay this time -- though a couple teen boys died refueling a generator in an unvented garage.
i hear u greengeeny... we've been soo lucky this year...too lucky.
hi! please clue for the second ha5
I love the snow so I can't complain. We haven't even bother driving...just walking to the store etc.

I like to shovel for about a week, then I am done...the newness wears off quickly
HI all, help please with both al5
it's when it's a heavy, wet snow that it's troublesome to get rid of.
The kids have started school two hours late all this week. They don't mind, but it puts a crimp in my schedule!
I hear ya cathy!
Do they stay two hours later, stid?
al4/4 - al + double vowel
al4/4...the plant that is good for cuts and scrapes

thanks cathy
thanks Cathy, never heard of that word without an S at the end
thought the same thing peri!
welcome
:-) the SA 7 is an ice-skating jump! whee!
back again -- reviewing the chat -- it's snowing here again and I've been stuck since Saturday. Called a guy with a bobcat to shovel out my driveway but he can't even get out of his own place, it's so icy. I'm getting low on cat food...otherwise ok, no power loss
will they have to make up the lost time come spring? that is how our school system works...
not that I ever managed one. best I could do was to stay upright when I stopped going forward...
lol...stid...i had no idea that skating maneouver was spelled that way... here all these years i thought they were saying sowcow.
only when they miss more than a 2/3 of the school day. Two hours late still counts for a full instructional day.
hi Jilly dear!
sh 6/27 please
quite the adventure jilli!
oh jili...and stid, i feel terrible that you guys are so stuck because of the weather...I hope that it dies down before it gets this far east...
{{{{Stid}}}}
hm. *cat looks at Jill, sees large pigeon...* LOL
well, I'm getting caught up with some jobs that needed doing around here
hi jilli...u r where in BC?
I am in Ohio...
ususally districts plan 2-3 extra days on the calendar. When they miss more than that, it has to be made up. I work for Head Start and we didn't put any extra days in our calendar (not my decision!) so we'll have to hold school during Spring Break
I don't mind being stuck a little bit. We have plenty of food and propane -- and lots of old-fashioned games (anyone ever heard of Scrabble?) even if the power goes out we'll be okay.
cathyar -- Salt Spring Island, north of Victoria
I will be happy if I never saw snow again!
that sucks for your spring break kristin...
me too peri
hope you get dug out soon jilli and all who are snowed in!
I am not a snow fan either peri...i will take hot and sultry anyday over freezing my butt off!
well...better go. been ill 2 days now and the bathroom is calling.
I'm in admin and just on contract so if they need me, I'd be working then anyhow so no big deal
The most bee-u-tee-full island I have ever seen, btw, SSI is still mostly rural -- only a couple small towns.
oh Cathy, feel better -- email me.
ok stid...will do!
get better, Cathyar...
bye for now all
sayonara cathy!
bye Cathy, take care
SSI may be mostly rural but the population is varied and comes from all over the world -- interesting
btw, have any other parents ever had _better_ relationships with their teens when they *increased* restrictions and chores? We seem to have done so, and I was shocked. I thought we would have more altercations rather than less... but it's turned out the other way.

oh no Babblephish
oh babblephish...you need more than cyberhugs!
I hate this
oh no! oh Babblephish *crying* I am so sorry.
I wish it wasn't so babble, sorry
my Icon is her dog
oh no babblephis - I'm so sorry. ~~~~good vibes and hopes for peace~~~~
April, that is nice, what does the puppy think of the snow?
Oh Babble, best thoughts to your girl.
Babblephish, my husbad is in the Navy but is fortunately still in the shipyard...his boat was gutted.
thank you.
I am praying as I type and will continue to do so
He has luckily not been there.
Babblephish -- is there anything *real* I can do to help?
bless you all
Babble, my heartfelt prayers that she wont be there long and will be home with you all again
I am happy to be able to vent
Srid, she has a rash on her belly and legs from it scratching it but she seems to enjoy it, and my other dog finally has a friend
I am so dam upset and angry. It is such a waste
I am so dam upset and angry. It is such a waste
Amen, Babble.
keep on venting Babblephish. it helps to get the brain to understand what the heart is feeling
Agreed, babblephish - worth saying twice!
Babblephish, how long was she there last time?
I didn't hit it twice! I swear!
it still bears repeating
upsetness and angerness very appropriate -- and makes me crazy all the people being involuntarily recalled...
she was there for 16 months the first time. In Baghdad and Karbala
yikes
she's been home for over a year. we thought she was safe.
How is she doing about it, Babble?
she probably doesn't know how long she will be gone again.
no one is safe, babble. how is your daughter taking the news?
She is an amazing woman! Stronger than me.
i haven't heard any scuttle from the vets i work with as to how long this deployment could be...18 months...possibly.
my nephew survived a horrible bomb attack and asked to be reshipped back to his unit. they gave him the option to stay here but he wouldn't hear of it...he is still there
her letter said a year and a half
Nah, she just is being a good soldier Babble. take it in stride, this is what she signed up for...BULL.
it's so scary
with the possibility of extention to the duration of her 8 year constitutional committment
(((((Phishy))))) I just saw...
we can hope the next administration pulls our troops out of there and let them fight for their own way of living.
She is a good soldier. She was written up in the New York Times. Front pager quote in 2003. and had a Fox news reporter imbedded with her unit.
he wrote several articls on her in his blog
Wow, Babble. Am awesome girl.
Give a big hug and thanks from me Babble.
ok gtg bbl
thank you.
yes here too, amazing thanx
wow babble. that's awesome, thank her for me.
bye daisy
Babblephish, I don't know what to say. Your pride in her being honorable and your anger and fear over her going to war... both so strong,
my hubz is a vietnam vet, i'm a desert storm vet. we wont let these soldiers and sailors be forgotten!
I will. go rent the movie Gunner Palace. She is not in it, but all of her firends are
Fiz, got your "tome" thanks! Noisy kids and dogs in background....
hiya kids
gunner palace is a scary show
the main guy in the movie "Wilf" is one of her best friends
had to watch it for a class
hey there Nutty!
and stid, i forgot in writing the novel to note that i'd love some extra socks - i'm thinking sock dolls for xmas presents.
I hope your hubby stays safe April
hi nutty. i've got to run - unrelated to your arrival, of course....
uh huh
I have to go... Grant has an event at school. later all!
thanks Babble, he will start back at sea soon. He is on one of those boats that destroys the world if something bad happens, so I hope he stays safe too.
I'm better now guys. thanks for the support
don't believe her Nutty. *wink wink*
bye stid, drive safely! storm is coming!
okay, socks in box soon as I can get back to town.
i see, i come in and everyone leaves
bet dawg, april and phish are leaving too
hi nut -- back as quick as I can...
April, hugs and thanks to your hubby too.
sorry evan, I didn't mean to be a downer
nah. I'm staying
were you a downer? did i miss anything????
he has been in 18 years now
nah, i'm stuck here for another half hour Nutty. teaching
not teaching me! i'm SMART
a soldiers mother is never a downer babble, no matter what our politics, we can have compassion
ahh a lifer! Hubz retired as a chief. 20 years
Good morning (1.57am here in UK) all. Was just reading the log as I cough & sniff my way through the night. Yes, I've caught the 'lurgey' off Paul! 'The Scotsman' said, re Iraq, on 28th Nov., that both UK and US troops could be there for another decade.:( The report, if anyone wants to read it, can be found at: http://news.scotsman.com/international .cfm?id=1761952006
nutty!
ooooooooh, hey phish, my sis in law just came back from kuwait
yours did lbd?
thanks again
Nutty, there's nothing i could teach you! now, you could probably teach me a few things
mine won't make chief, at least we don't think so. He has sabotaged his 'career'
kuwait is much better
((((owl((
ouch April!
she's in a transportation unit, she was in convoys to iraq
Babblephish. ((HUGS))
hi jacs!
uh oh April...what's he do in the navy? Hubz was a yeoman. I was a spook
hey Jac!
thanks Jac
Babble, he still retires honerably and has full retirement bennies, and doesn't have to stay any longer.
lbd, a sonar tech, lpo
lbd - a spook? That's 'cool', as the youngsters here in UK say.
doing the 20 is a big deal!
I also have a cousin fighting for Queen and Country
yes, it is a career. He will retire at 40
oh good April
She was in Basra
the history of my designator was being a pigeon keeper. a PK! then as things got more advanced technologically it was just called intel or spooks
and is home now I believe
then he is already lined up for a civilian job on base...and will work maybe five more years, save some money and build our dream house. then REAL retirement at 45
i take the safety of all our armed men and women very seriously.
amen evan
spooks, what IS that?
make him use his gi bill April!
Nut - Yes, indeed.
i got a spook in the basement
spooks, intelligence (miltary oxymoron)
I am thankful there are military types out there, good for them, that I don't have to be one.
ha!
Good for you. Jen has been using her Gi Benes... She has been working 2 jobs full time and ging to shcool full time
we just call them spoo
it could be the guy we sent looking for a sky hook Nut.
is it worth anything, the GI bill?
spooks - undercover operators.
007 types...he he he
he is probably a class or two short of his Bachelors, but you know, he is highly specialized, so I think he would like to stay in his field.
nut - really? Or is it your imagination?
it could pay for his full education April. that's how my hubby got his degree
Oh yeah! she gets over 1200 per month. pays the bills while she takes classes
I will ask him about that GI thing. Is that ontop of his full retirement?
yup, the stipend for going to school is well worth it. It paid his bills and some of our bills.
It wont pay for Harvard but it does pay for State schools and the UC system in California is superb
yup
oh yes April!
I wonder if he has thought about it....
I guess you lot have all finished the grid and don't need clues?
make him think about it
we are newly weds, this is my first time, first three months as a military wife
nut? why are you incommunicado?
this grid isn't too difficult
he's invested in it...20 years worth, he needs to use it or loose it. you could use it if he doesn't or any dependents can use it.
No Jac, I'm just venting
still hunting
nut - my question was a serious one re the ghost in your house.
but Ineed one clue....the second ha 5.12
really lbd? even for masters degrees?
I have 26 left
Babblephish - don't blame you! I've done it myself on more than on occasion. (Just wish we had a 'delete' button for own posts next day!)
april, will depend on the program and the viability of the degree. check with the college/university va rep
speaking of GIs... i am stuck on the two Gi5/20s
Yes. whatever. they give you a set amount of $$ and it must be used within a certain period of time
ha+ spanish hurrah
ok....hmmm
oh sorry jac...i've debated the possiblility
2nd ha5/12 is Hawaiian greeting.
for both GI... think really BIG
house is brand new, but i've brought in tons of antiques
ca4/5 clue, please? ty
gi5/20 - a concert or g** + a male.
gi=band show + 3rd person singular masculine
ca+ not high
thanks Jac, I didn't know that word but guessed at what it would sound like
gi5/20 (2nd) the concert again + 2 vowels.
t!
ca4/5 - first 4 letters of what dieters count.
thanks dawg, jacs! : )
yw

i have cough too jac, just let it hack up!
nut - it's what goes 'down' that worries me, not what comes up!:(
ahh weak bladder...need some depends Jac?
however, here's a true friend: my borther's freind inveited me to his florida home. wheni said i was too fat he said we'd go to the beach where the 300 lb german women bathe in their bikinis

Be kind to me fellow babblers. I need 1 more word, SA7. Please help me
that is the SECOND reference to those undergarments in today's log. jacs...
gramm - sa7 is a skating move - a leap. Little Sally + a dog with a black tongue.
TO - it is?? Who else today?
TY
TO - re the beach thing. That's a very nice man you found there. Hold on to him!

Hi everyone!
Hi everyone!

hi all
I think it was EnemyisMe is said the thing about depends....
nut: this grid is a stinker
Hi Annie.
and Jacula. and I meant *who* said not is
too late owl...now i'm all stuck
yes annie! that was it!
I had the chatlog turned off after I said 'Hi & Bye' to Haz. I'd only just come in and too many easy clues and stat lists were being posted at the time.
As you know, I prefer to do as much of the grid by myself, whilst chatting, as I can.
gee jacs - i remember when an esy clue was one you could google....
Temple, it was funny but I dont remember what he said but it was about depends...lol
hi guys
chixieeee
hi chic
later kids, going home to hubby
bye dawg!
hey chic!
Nut - There are a few nasty words in this grid, but not that many. Pull yourself together, woman, and get on with it! LOL
bye dawg
bye lbd
'Bye, lbd.
hey nutty and annie and ren
i finished this stinker so if anyone wants clues......
Annie - Me, too. You clue the awkward ones and I'll clue the rest.;))))
it can stinker all the way to the toilet for i care
nut?? Are you okay?
yep...brilliant...i'm fabulo
Nut - what's that in your icon? (You don't sound okay.)
i'm excellentee...my icon is a piece of african fruit that can be made into a puzzle when it shrivels up and dries...it's chj's christmas gift.
These tap handles make cr*p icons, don't they? My dragon one is okay once you click on it but hardly stands out in the crowd on the chatlog!
nut - what fruit is that?
well, i don't actually remember that part jac...i was just so excited, oh wait...i don't remember crap. it's a nut not a fruit, that's why i used it...duh
nutsy, help is on the way!
2:32am here on 30th November. Theme is shoes. I've got quite a bit lined up for that one. I'll put one up now on my icon, I think.

YAY April!
Wel done, snozrap!
YAY snoz!
hye stid
re6/39 - if a stream of liquid was stopped and then let free again, it would re****.
jacula, i can't use the babanon thing cause of the cookies - when you sign up, you have to accept cookies & my computer doesn't
sorry; i'm on the laptop....hi helen....
*helen wishes she had a lap top, then she could be falling asleep in bed while babbling*
Hell - you can programme your pc to accept cookies from certain sites. You can also delete all cookies in Firefox every time you leave it.
Thank you, Jacula. Boy, was I on the wrong track!
jac, i love your bio!
y/w, msilver.
chic - can you send jacula that turkey recipe with the oranges for bosoms?
Good evening everyone
nut - you do? I hope you'll be getting one of those interesting Xmas pressies for someone then.
sure i need jac's email..
Hi metal. Have you put any more recipes in my recipe book?
well, ya know...there is one babbler in particular (babbler) who adores shoes.
chic - you do?? Well message me through BabAnon.
no, I don't have any that I have tried/tested so I've refrained. I did add a comment to one recipe I'd already shared since it was one I've made.
she repeats it in her bio...again and again and again
chic - no, see that's the problem, jac doesn't want to give out her e-mail, you need to send it to her through babanaon & i can't do that
evenin, addicts!
I came across a neat web site today ... they give away free commercial, licensed software every day. something new every day. if anyone would like the url, I can share it here.
i also have a shoe weirdness - i just bought 3 pairs over the internet - total over $350 & one was a pair of slippers!
howdy oth ddict
nut - you're gonna love my icons for the day then! Shoes are life! Shoes are the punctuation marks of an outfit! Sorry, getting carried away there... it's a genetic thing... Mum was like me, daughter's like me and her. (Poor girl stood no chance of not being so... given that both her paternal and maternal grandmother's are shoe lovers, as is her father.)
meta - why yes, that sounds loverly, please share!
sorry, got lost in email. hi helen! hi ren! hi evanadine, hi metal, hi Jac, hi msilver (I always want to say hi-ho msilver!), hi chj.... who did I miss?

Hello, here to finish last 10 or so
hi phand!
nut - Dunno if you've had time to read or take in the stuff about 1600 chopine shoes on my bio. If not, just c&p and save it to notepad or something to read later.

You did, nut? Oh! xx
that would be pls
2 more... sc and ng...
ah. got the sc... now on the ng...
ng = currency (Zambian, as I recall, but don't quote me on that.)
ng + very tiny
sc 5 is upside down e in pronunciation guides... ng is unit of Zambian money
last al is "constantly" word less common s on the end
anyone have sa 7,52 or sh 6,27? those are my last two...
okay guys....off to bed
sc= 1st 3 letters of where you go to learn things + first 2 letters of the **y to Amarillo.
Night, nut. Sweet dreams!
good night, nut, sweet dreams!
Hi Stid!
sa 7 was clued at 8:40
thanks Jac,
oops. 8:49
sa7/32 = little Sally + dog with a black tongue.
thnx
hi riemann! how's life today? It's cold here.
trumpet-playing offspring is settled down a bit (I think).
I'd trade places w/you Stid. Wind chills never ROSE to zero today. Severe wind chills tonight.
sh6/27 = more beach stone like (sh5/12 + sometimes vowel).
trombone-playing offspring was supposed to have an event at school this evening, but we got there and there was no one there! LOL not sure what happened...
i have that one, i think there's another one, jacula
*chuckle* Guess you didn't get the notice about no after-school activities tonight.
I think we got above 0 C today, calm air until about an hour ago. But you're talking 0 F, aren't you?
trumpet-playing offspring, Stid? That's almost as bad as a violin playing offspring - in the learning stages! Steer them towards electric guitar! It's not half as bad.
0 C would be fabulous. 0 F is the target.
*grin* actually, I DID check the emergency email service and there was no mention of activities being canceled. In fact they went out of their way to say that normal after-school activities were ON!
I have a fiddler also, Jacula -- and a pianist. Two kids. go figure. :-)
Hmm... Did you have the right night for the event?
Bernice - sh6/27 - like a crowd of fish. (The fish word + the sometimes vowel)
ca 6 pls
Yep. Wednesday, Nov 29...
sorry about disappearing like that - hubby wanted to talk
ca + george bernard ****
ca 6: nut, with second vowel traded in for first again
Hi again, Hell.

YAY mamato!
well done, mamato.
Thanks. :)
hubby -talk? oh-oh. He found out about the shoes, didn't he?
WTG Mama
thnx
LOL, stid.
Which reminds me... time to put up another shoe icon...
Tom says HI riemann...
Almost bedtime for the kiddo...but I can clue for a minute if anyone needs anything.
hello
stid - i never "throw" money away on shoes! all 3 pairs i bought come with arch supports already in them - the slippers are haflinger, boiled wool with indoor/outdoor sole; then i got a pair of finn comfort- german shoes that never, ever retail for less than $225, i got a special deal for $163 & then the athletic shoes, well they just really work well for me, especially since the hip replacement - they are stability running shoes with springs in the heel & ball of the sole, so they "return" energy when you walk (banned from the boston marathon, btw)
Tell Tom Hi from me. 3 weeks and counting til I'm in the area.
the 2 gi 5/20's pls
hi all - hard puzzle tonight!
Hi, Harp.
gigue
well i'm dressed for tomorrow....
gi + consonant + opp of she
oops
gi 5/20 band show+5th vowel+2nd vowel
stid - no, i was iffy on the athletic shoes, he was the one who said 'do it!' - nothing is more important than having your feet in good shoes!
helen I had a pair of Haflingers -- still do, they need resoling. Worth every penny two young parents could afford, too! I don't doubt the worth of the shoes... *hoping you know I was joking about it*
Enomis, shall we dance?
Hell - you may not want to wear the shoes I'm modelling now then.:(
thnx
REFRESH is you can still see the 1600 chopines.
stid - lol ! aren't they great?!?! & what's also great about boiled wool is that you can wear them year round!
why not stidmama - my fingers seem to be dancong between the boxes!
*dancing
Platforms were also 'big' in the 1930s. They've never really gone away.
night all! see you tomorrow (i finished)
good nite TO :)
Enomis - LOL. I can hear that old Leo Sayer song now, 'You Make Me Feel Like Dancing'.
Wel done, TO! *~*~*~*~*~*
jacs, have you heard of kirsty mac coll?
YAY TO!!!! sweet dreams...
TO - Yes, of course I have. ??
so, tomorrow'c icon is shoes, i'm guessing
which makes our recent conversation strangely appropriate, helen!
i'm going to go watch 'medium', be back in an hour to finish off the last 15
okay, going away for a while, back later if I stay awake.

Good evening to my fellow babblers How is everyone?

By the way, congratulations to all the finishers!YAY!
Qualicum Beach isn't supposed to be snowed in -- nor is Salt Spring!
Hello minveryork!!!
We moved here to avoid this mess!
me too -- from La Belle Province -- and you?
The twister threw cars into the air and tore chimneys from roofs, brought down electricity cables, uprooted trees, crumpled caravans, blew away sheds and outbuildings and moved a steel ofice structur (portakabin?) 200 yards to the other side of a railway line. However, it struck in the middel of the night and so,no one was injured, though more than 20 homes were damaged in the 125mph winds.
Sounds a little like the storms we are having on Vancouver Island, Jacula!
Sheesh, jac, near Abo??? Does this happen much?
Sorry for typing errors!
nm the typos
phoned my sister in UK today and she said that the weather there was extraordinarily mild.
Can somebody reclue ng 5/22 word?I did not get the Irish word for little or tiny clue.Don't know any Irish.

I haven't worked in thre eyears, and I start my new job on Sunday. After having oral surgery on Friday. What was I thinking?
okay, attired properly.
that's a good one, stid
oh Tea -- not good planning...
the dentist appointment has been made for over two months and cannot be changed again! But, I passed the test, so I am returning as a tax preparer, not a receptionist.
yippee for you! well done, Tea! :-) *offers applesauce cake and warm cider*
thanks, that means I am not working for minimum wage - that's somewhat of a relief!
when you think you want to look into it, let me know - I can get you a discount on the basic tax course
Oops, yes, Stid re the Hawaiian words.
yay taxes
okay, Tea, thanks!
hi chj!
hey stid
Well, my excuse is that I'm ill, v. tired, but can't sleep and that it's 5.16am here.:(
hey, chj
I did try though! *whimpers*
I'm srry you are having a tough time, Jac.
hey tnc and jac
s'okay, Jacula, no worries here -- we all confuse words like that sometimes!
so Jac, how do you want to post that turkey photo in babanon?
jac didnt there used to be a space between the jac and the ula
TeanC - I'm fine really, but thanks ayway.
Hi all! Hope everyone had a great day.
volley's back!
chj - No?
chic - turkey photo? Tha's the roasted one with the bkini on, is it?
hi volley! hey all, I am going to duck out. though we have but rain (yippee) we also have some wind gusts and I want to shut down my box. I'll see you-all tomorrow, I hope!
not a bikini but cute. where or how do I do that in babanon?
just paid the gecko for another 6 months so if i crash into any of you out there im insured
bye, stid.
that's good to know, chj.!
chic - you'll work it out.
Anyone still need any clues for the grid?
yes still need 17 words!
Well, if you need clues, just ask.
ty,jacula
I've just scrolled through my word list and identified 10 what I woulf call 'weird' words even for Babble.
hey again !
hey, hk
back again with shoes
hey tea - clever, clever icon
thank you - it came to me in a flash!
what kind of work is your dentist doing Tea? Our daughter did really well when she had her wisdom teeth extracted.
tea - & were there also swirling winds involved? lol
hi everyone just comming on for the count down
10 to go
ag5,14 please
gale
jilli - I remember watching a programme on tv wher a foot-bound woman revealed her unbound feet. My feet still haven't recovered from the shock of that. What a painful experience it must have been!
gogogo helen!
volley - I am having to rods implanted to accept two crown later on next year. It's pretty gory from what I understand.
*two
a + one of the g words (for both)
hk - the monkeys are what did it for me!
ag5/14 -- ag + **** Autry
a friend of mine had to have that done for a front tooth; just be sure to pay attention to the "after" care, and I bet you will do well!
ok, the sa 7/52 has me stumped
tea - i've had that done - had a post put in; i always ask for lots of pain killers, before, during & especially after
my dad just had the same thing done a couple of weeks ago and he is still miserable.
sa7 a figure skating jump
awww so sorry to hear that
i am a firm believer in pain killers & feel-good pills
theya re doing a bone graft witht he posts, and as I said earlier, I start my new job on Sunday. Piss poor timing!
sa7/52 -- figure skating jump -- sa*t and pepper + ch4/10
sa7 sa* mineo + purina dog ****
aww tea - that's a shame, shouldn't be that bad for that long a time
chj! - hey, great icon-finding there, LOL
T&C - better than false teeth though! Remember, when you end up on some ward when you are old and 'mad' they might lose both your teeth and your glasses. Proof to me, that tooth implants and lasrer eye surgery *may* be worth considering.
ok, thats so a made up word, even for babble, arg
maybe I will be a better employee on drugs!
no girlie, sa7 is not a made-up word!
I'm kidding jillibus!
it's a skating move
sa7 is an everyday word for a skater.
I just checked the word finder tho ... and it ain't in there
chj - are you a skating fan? i saw brian boitano being interviewed on tv last night & i still clearly remember the first time i saw him live, at the old chicago stadium, 1987 & he did this great bit to 'secret agent man' - i was impressed from the word go!
Jac, my stepson had the laser eye thing done and he LOVES it! He has better than 20/20 now.
I'm sure it is
yes i love skating
i wish they kept the figures
everybody go get the laser eye surgery!!! (i've had stock in them since before human trials :))))
i think the last year they had the figures was the year boitano won the gold
i love skating too & ita about the figures, that takes true expertise
that hand straight above the head move was amazing!
I like the figures too -- did a bit of that years ago and some basic ice dancing -- great fun with a good-looking coach :-)
Glad to hear it, daisy! My gp's theory on that is, 'Let's see what the scar tissue does in 20 years' time!' Howver, my last post about the specs and the teeth was based on seeing my Dad stuck on a mental health ward with his specs and his teeth lost...
wow jili- you must be a really good skater - i have a hard time dancing on solid ground
<----has a hard time standing on solid ground :)
that sa7 was named after the inventor in 1909, Ulrich Sa7, a Swede -- see wikipedia
jacula - a long time ago, i made some remark to my dentist about when i was going to have dentures & he said, why are just assuming you're going to have dentures, you won't! times have a-changed
not a really good skater -- had this good-looking guy to hang on to <VBG>
lol daisy
I did some basic ice 'Gawd I'm going really fast here... hope I stay upright when I go over the watery bits! Don't want to fall down in front of the boys and show my knickers!' back in the 1970s.
I don't qualify for the laser surgery on the eyes and am headed towards dentures, given my history - ugh!
the way to go jili, hahaha
good evening, all
I'm back and ready for Flip
hi, nan, hi metal
6 to go
hi nan -- how's your weather? I'm more snowbound than ever
hi nan, meta
Has it warmed up any in your neck of the woods, jilli
not yet, nan -- hoping for tomorrow
Hi everyone - can I join those waiting for the flip? Anyone taking bets?
hi TnC
hi metal -- guess I missed you!
Got down to -25C here last night, -11 tonight. Not used to this cold --- wouldn't mind so much if it was cold enough to get rid of the pine beetle! -- think we need 3 weeks of -40 for that, though.
go for it, crone!
I say 123
hi crone!
230
oy!
I want something that will last a little longer!
we're overdue for a big one --- 328
Oh, a big one would be nice! (Stop sniggering, oh loved one, where you here to ssee me typing this.) A big grid would be welcome.
Bite your tongue nan, that's a little too big for a Wednesday......Hi all!!
I'm not even going to guess tonight... the last several times I've guessed I've been way over or way under. Can't seem to find that accurate middle ground
jilli, I meant to comment on your icon earlier. Those shoes make me cringe - as I have skis for feet.
Good morning all - you complain about cold - i complain about heat - i guess 210
ugh! -25! Right now it's -2C (24F) on my deck, about 18" of snow
ursh - Well, if yu are going to boast...
metal - check out those shoes! oy!
2 to go
go helen go
Jac it gets very humid in Durban which is so tiring
gogogo helen!
hi ursh, ditto with the heat - it's 40c & it's hard to breathe with the smoke from the fires.
Anyway, in my headphones right now is Mud's 'Tiger Feet'. Good icon for shoe day!
grins at TnC's comment... those are tame compared to some I found while icon shopping
oh that's way too much snow, jilli! -- we have about 6" and supposed to get another 4" tonight.
Those are my kind of shoes metal!!
I guess huge grids hoping I'm wrong -- so far it's been working -- 423
my kind too Schroeder, as long as I have the key to the lock and someone else wears the shoes
metal - those are not shoes, they are fetish shoes! Behave yousrself, woman!
oh my, schroeder. hubby just peeked over my shoulder and asked if I was buying a pair - fuh reak!
Crone where are you with that kind of heat
;)
TnC... tell him you'll buy two pair
he has to wear his pair first, then you'll wear yours
one for him?
hee hee
Australia - central west New Soth Wales
That would work TnC...then you would keep the key
*moving to AU*
FIREWORDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WooHoo Helen!!!!
Ouch Crone - no rain in sight???
onya hk
yay HK!!
being a Keyholder has many applications. will be quiet now and try to behave
yayyyyy HK
YAY helen!!! Just in time!!!

oh heck... I can't not guess
ty,ty,ty
158
woo hoo hk!
That's okay metal....someone has my key.
big one tomorrow... 346
haven't seen a cloud in weeks - we're in a ten year drought
metal - that thing re the shoes sounds like what I said to my beloved when he wanted me to attend the local belly dancing class. 'I'll go if you will come with me, dnce the same dances and wear the same costumes.'.
please don't behave metal!
202 is my vote.
belly dancing, I can do!
cool Jac... did you both end up going?
holy crap, Crone...and i thought this part of Calif was bad...
crone -- I wish I could redirect our rain and snow your way!
oh yes please!!
I've got a belly!
