it does, it is just spelled differently in Spanish. My mom is first generation American - her parents are from Spain. But, if you ask my dad, he says that I got my name because you could see Mt. Ranier from the hospital, and that was their fave beer.
lol - men, sigh!
I like mom's explanation better!

jeepers y'all are fast. I have only 72
hah - 32!
play tangleword at iwin.com - just like this, but timed, that'll get you going faster
I hate being rushed -- that's why I like babble
Jill -- I popped back in... it's raining here -- really hard. What about you?
pist should be a word
jili- well you can't look at it that way, you're not really being 'rushed' you're just going as fast as you can for 2 minutes
Hello, Helen, Stid, Jilli, Sunny, Metal, Tea, and all! :)
but I like to take my sweet time and relax
you're absolutely right jilli, it should be.
hello Ankh
stid - slight drizzle here, but was raining all day - & sadly 50-60 degree temps are going away - probably forever :(
hey ankh!
there there helen, you can console yourself with your haflingers... what kind of trim do they have? the ones I used to admire had pretty embroiderered bands...
good gravy, Metal, your icon! Yipes!
Ankh -- I TOTALLY approve of your icon! :-)

heh heh heh... I like Helen's sink. I couldn't find a good sink pic yesterday. Hi there, BlomBol!
*considers what metal can do when she's in the mood, and shudders!*
bugger! I gotta go... see you-all tomorrow!
i'm not a big heidi fan, lol - the style i like is called the grizzly - mine are black with just a plain leather trim - but aren't they great?!?! - on msn.com they had a 20% off sale at one of the shoe dot coms & i took advantage of it - used to work in a shoe store so i know i got a great price - of course it's not the same as ' cost less 30%' now that was sweet!
stid -- I think the precip has stopped and it's warming up -- hard to tell cos is dark -- but there are dripping sounds
Hello blombol - where are you in SA
Oh, Jilli, your shoes are worse. One of my law profs had a pair of those. :(

Thank you, Jilli. Oh, about a year ago, looking for hamster housing. :)
nite stid, non
Nice Blom - if you enjoy babble register and we can have another SA flag up
ty DRB
Greetings, Peoples!
hi chic
Yeah, Blom, you all have the prettiest flag!
Hiya Chic
Just found out that the pair of cheap headphones that replaced the more expensive pair that got fractured and then mended with tape is still far inferior for listening than the mended ones. Billy Jo Spears - Blanket On The Ground playing now. That's the song Eileen, our Irish land lady of the pub we went to as teenagers used to play after she'd rung the bell and yelled, 'THANK YOU LADS, PLEASE! TIME NOW!'
Chic, cool shoesies!
ankh - so what is the deal with you & these rodents?
does anyone n=know if Seattle school district will be open for business on Thursday
ti 7
Hi metal, ankh schroeder and helen...
ti9
I needed an animal character -- 12 years ago? -- for an online environment, and I had a hamster at the time -- besides, female hamsters are fierce & territorial! (And go into season every FOURTH DAY, but we needn't discuss that). So that's why the hamsters...
thanks ankh - have been wondering for a while now - every FOURTH day - yikers!
I've always been fond of badgers and wolverines. Even considered trying to draw some Anthro art with them as characters
One look at my first few attempts quickly quashed that misguided notion
Yes; shortest estrous cycle of any mammal. Oh, Metal, if draw Anthro, please please draw some for me!
the results were pitiful
Ah, well, I can't draw either. :)
what's Anthro?
I will keep my eye open for any anthro art with hamsters and let you know where I find it (IF I find any)
thanks ankh - i'll try to remember that for when i'm on millionare
it's art using characters which are animals but drawn with humanoid characteristics
You win, Helen! you'd be good.
the paws look more like hands, etc.
Right, Jilli, it's like... Smokey the Bear, have you ever seen him?
but the critters are still recognizable as animals
ooooh--found that ti 9; is the ti 7 related?
yes -- I see what you mean
yes it's related
It's like any of my hamster cartoons who are standing up wearing dresses and doing gardening; anthro art can be very cartoony, or very realistic.
hi&bye - i'm just here for the icons - hope to be back when daylight returns.
baker um too late for tov?
Melon! I have serious shoe envy!!!
Her husband,as we all knew had left her some time ago. However, her sister, Josie fequented the place with her all to pretty and blonde, 'virgin' daughter. She also brought along Maurice, her almost deaf hubby who was obviously a victim of female viloence in the household. No joke! Poor Maurice who suffered from 'boils in his ears' was obviously a victim of domestic violence. As for Eileen's daughter ( blanket on the ground woman, if you remember). she was a hard-faced false blonde, married to a Scotsman known as BillyMac. He deejayed at my wedding. Me and my other half at that time had grown used to understanding what he said and forot that no one, aside from our pub pals, would know what he was saying. LOL.
ankh - sadly no, a friend & i took the test here about 5 years ago & i didn't even make the first cut!
Porkstore, I live in the South Sound and heard that the school districts are going to run 2 hours late tomorrow.
*consoles Helen, there there there*
hi & bye melon
thank, metal--found it
Jac, was she a suicide blonde, dyed by her own hand?
Oh, that's not my shoe - mine are yellow lo-tops - a bargain at $20 and more comfortable than my Munros costing many times more.
groan, ankh
Much obliged Duff--now I can get some sleep!
Heh, Melon, still lovely. Oh, Jilli, you've heard it before!
Much obliged Duff--now I can get some sleep!
Porkstore,
It's raining like crazy here now and is suppose to freeze during the night. Sleep well.
Ank - Probably so, or by her mother's hand, yes.
yw miranda
Mind you, in those days, I worked in the hair salon that kept the landlady's 60's curved beehive in place.
I told my sis that I'm wearing them on my next (hypothetical) date - - - with a cocktail dress. Might as well show the real me from the get-go - - - he (hypothetical) will either love or hate it...
Secrets tht should not probably be ever revealed.
Years ago a niece wore a huge beehive hairdo and her brother went and got a can of Raid to squirt it with
Lol. jilli. He was not far wrong re the old days!
Something Old, Something New by The Fantastics in my headphones now.
A wedding song.
hi Snppngtrtle!
hi Snppngtrtle!
hi Snppngtrtle!
Hi all, power back on - for now at least!
I have no Idea why that posted three times, sorry guys
Blockbuster by \The Sweet in my headphones now. I am sure I have said this before, but if anyone thinks The Sweet were just a 70s glam band, then think again. They were a good rock band, as anyone who has seen them live would testify.
must change icon be right back - power prevailing!
did you lose power, flosey? It dimmed here once or twice but stayed on
hello, Strider!
late flip and oh my oh my
hi strider and snpp
Well, maybe you really wanna say hi to Snppng, that's all. :) Oh, gosh, Jac, you make me feel so provincial; I haven't a clue who The Sweet are/were.
Hiya, Debb, Strider!
hi debb -- yeah
Hi all arriving

I was doing so well at studying until the new grid came out
Yeah, same here... without the studying part.

Good night all, I must be tired cause I'm really feeling slow with this grid. Till tomorrow!!!!

Yay doug!

In Con Law?
huh? no, when I got home
Con law?
back again - will attempt this grid - just hope power stays on long enough
Oh! Been so busy chatting not even realised new grid had arrived.
Sorry, law nerd talk. We read a case about avacados today.
lol, you just let out the dirty little secret that we are law students
Good luck on the public interest law, Snapping. You first year, or 2L?
We all have things we're ashamed of. Share!
Will look at new grid, methinks, and then sleep on it.
1L and it's only 2 weeks until finals! Yikes! Why am I not studying? Oh yeah, Babble is more important.
Goodnight.
G'night, Jacula, bite tight!
night jac
1L is the worst, it's boot camp. Get through this, and the rest is a breeze.
neap
That's what I hear. Are you a lawyer Ankh?
Turtle, I am r e t i r e d :)
lucky
*I* do not have finals in two weeks! :)
Oh, yay for retirement! I can't wait.
Heh. Strider, what kind of law would you like to practice?
copyright law would b the shot these days i reckon
Certainly a hot field, Bundy.
Not sure. I'd like the job where all you do is drink scotch, smoke cigars, and play golf, but barring that, criminal defense sounds interesting. Criminal law seems more attractive in general right now, but that might just be because of my severe hatred for civil procedure.
*laughs* Oh, yeah. Well. Crim defense, start as a pub defender, maybe get some slack on your loans that way, maybe get a toehold for a political career. I'm more with Turtle, tho, public interest type. OTOH, being a pub defender IS public interest, I'd say.
definitely, and a lot of work from what I hear. I certainly want to do something that will give back. I really have no idea which direction I'm headed now. Politics has always fascinated me. SnppngTrtle and I watched MSNBC for 10 hours straight on the 7th :)
That was fun. Election day is my favorite day of the biennium, especially when I don't have to make GOTV calls.
I'm surprised you two weren't drafted as poll watchers...? The ACLU & similar usually call for law students for that... but wait, is OR all mail-ballots now?
I did most of my campaign work prior to the gotv cruch this year, although I did help with a fundraiser pretty close to election day.
Yes, OR is all mail in. Otherwise I'm sure we would have been out.
In criminal law it is not whether someone in fact committed a crime. The trial is to determine whether the judge or jury says you did or didn't. Innocence or guilt in the real sense is not an issue.
*has suspicions about what happens to mail ballots*
Enemy, is there a better way to do it?
...well, I was pleased with the results at any rate, but your right, election reform is vital.
mo 8/55 evening all
Hello, Ang!
I don't know but after being part of the process for many years I an very cynical
Hi ankh
phantom: anemone
Well, yeah. Me too. But I haven't figured out a better way -- lots of ways to IMPROVE the current way, though, like funding public defenders as much as prosecutors... not true in my state of VA and many, many others.
mines petition snppng
Enemy, you're right to a point, but in a way it can be good. If guilt or innocense were the only factors then it would be pretty easy for law enforcement to trample on peoples rights any way they could to get a conviction.
mo7
wow, I should really learn to spell :)
phantom: pivot
evening Angb
Hi metal - how goes it?
Well, ladies, gents, Dear One is threatening a blanket monopoly again... I gotta go defend my share! :)
It's a quiet night here at the hacienda, just me and the cat. He's sleeping and I'm babbling. All in all, a good night
You must fight that tendency ankh - nite
'Night Ankh
bye ankh
Bye Ankh
good nite ankh :)
night
If you are suggesting it is good for the guilty to go free and the innocent get convicted I vehemently disagree.... used to the state had all the resources to convict now the rich buy their way out
phantom: anemone
Sounds good, Metal. Night, all, see you tomorrow -- Strider, Snapper, see you in two weeks! Enemy, don't bait them... they should be studying. :) Sleep tight, all! *POOF*
and to say there is no better way is a copout
calling it a night with 101 Happy babbling All
see ya wilson
bye wilson
that is one of the cons, but you have to see it as a balance. Idealism is all well and good, but there also has to be a check on the power of the state.
mort
'night wilson
I do agree that we should always be looking for ways to improve our justice system
you speak form one never in the trenches
you speak form one never in the trenches
oops, and on that must go, bbl!
that I will admit. I will not claim experience I don't have
Strider - that sounds like a copout. We need people who are not shy of idealism - that will continue to look for new ways to solve old problems.
I'm not trying to cop-out, just suggesting that there are two sides
Good luck Strider ... idealism is good!
phantom: pituitary
Didn't I preface my statement with that?
phantom: inventory
ah 17 left - gonna head to the list
Perhaps I was just suggesting that there are different ideals... and on that note I'll take the hint and stop talking about this :)
It's been interesting Strider.
More interesting that my homework, which I must now go back to.
hi everyone
hi saphyre
And so you should strider
Bye, Strider. See you tomorrow.
good nite everyone :)
goodnight Helen
hi and nite Helen :)

I don't think so. We have the DVDs.
wow..such tough decisions at this time of night.

hi mr p
I know!
I'm envious...
hi mr p
i just had my usual sub-par breakfast.
oh well, I'll watch History Channel and learn about mushroom farming
Did everything have shrimp on it?
mmmmmm mushrooms...
sub par, Blood? what did you have?
ha..no shrimps..but the eggs were cold.
metal..cold eggs, no bread, hard pasteries, pulpy orange juice.
but the tea was delicious
yay! finished it up - good luck all
nothing wrong with pulpy juice, but cold eggs, ewwww
cheers maniac!
congrats mitch!
ha...yea. and to top it off, i put too much salt on them.
maybe next time leave the eggs and soak the hard pastry in the pulpy juice.
mmmmm tea...
hahahaha...that sounds NASTY! the eggs are usually hit-or-miss. today, i was one of the very first there, so the eggs had been uncovered for some time.
good strong tea.
mint tea...soooo good over here.
good evening almost morning everyone!!!!
ooooh, yum. I like a nice Darjeeling myself.
mmm yes, mint tea, with too much sugar to be healthy
i like earl gray, simple and tasty!
that's right metal..it's almost syrup! mmmmmm
earl gray's good. do you take it with milk, lemon, or plain?
plain, tho if there is fresh cream there i will try it (but how often does that happen?)
very true
I'm fond of herbal teas also
my hubby likes all these bizarre teas, Roibos and white tea and black tea and etc. To me they all taste like HAY.
Sugar!? In tea!? I guess I'm a purest.
I like hot tea sweetened, but prefer iced tea plain or with lemon
my fav of late has been verviene in milk instead of water...but i'm finding out the hard way that I'm lactose intolerant.
what is verviene?
verviene?
i do love just plain iced tea (brewed, not that instant powdery crap)
Oh no! Could it just be the dairy in Morocco though?
i'm not exactly sure, other than it's an herbal tea.
I finally got "brave" and tried chai..........
i think the problem is unexposure. i think i don't ingest enough dairy and my body is losing the enzymes.
I use lactose-free milk or you can put drops in regular milk or cream or whatever
some varieties I like and others are ickkkkkkk
I've not heard of that Blood.
chai is too complicated for me =) i like simple flavors. My not-so-secret addiction is actually coca-cola
i LOVE chai...
oh yes, if i could mainline Coca Cola I'd have a shunt put in
regular orange pekoe for me -- strong with milk and sugar
Oh, that happened to me when I went vegan, BA. Thankfully it was only temporary.
and now to bed with 105 words found -- good night all and good hunting!
i can't stand diet coke or any pepsi besides mtn dew!
was it hard to go vegan snppngtrtle?
And chai is yummy. My one exception to the no milk/sugar rule.
goodnight jilli, pleasant dreams
I don't like any fizzy sweet drinks
i hope it's the same with me ana...i don't know what i would do without ice cream.
night jili
Diet Coke is disgusting but if one must ingest a diet drink, Diet Dr. Pepper is not altogether putrid
Yeah, it was no fun. I love cheese too much, although I still can't bring myself to drink milk.
"Nite Jili
yuck...time to get ready for class...
snppng, would you mind explaining the difference in vegan and vegetarian?
yeah, diet dr. pepper is acceptable. diet mtn dew isn't hideous
bye all...good luck..
poor Blood
Bye Blood
i don't have the discipline to be a vegan (see also: coca cola addiction)
true, for a diet drink, it's acceptable.
Bye BA! Have fun in class!
anyone have the first ye 5,14
Vegan is no animal products whatsoever, so no dairy, eggs, meat, gelatin, sometimes even honey. Vegetarian is just no meat, poultry, or fish.
oops the second one
alrighty i am going to concentrate on getting 100 words and then go to bed before 1am
my bro-in-law is the most arrogant vegetarian i've ever met. i want to smack him. i want to smear bacon grease on his tooth brush. KIDDING
I can appreciate the motivation for becoming vegetarian, but why go beyond that to vegan? (not trying to be confrontational, just curious)
ye 5/14 - thinks it's a yiddish term. To wish for + abbrev for thanks
well some people feel eating dairy/eggs/etc still exploits animals, plus lots of natural resources are required to sustain that sort of food production
hello everyone
hi lynxxx
Hi lynxxx
ye5/14 - gossip
Yeah, that about sums it up kierlex.
ty snppng, and kierlex
but some staunch vegans still wear leather shoes/clothes. this perplexes me.
that does seem as if they're giving mere lip service to the ideal
The folks I know that are vegan will wear leather if they purchased it before going vegan. Otherwise it just goes to waste.
Having said all that, though, if cows weren't milked they'd end up in agony from swollen udders, so by milking them, we're easing suffering, which is an argument made by some vegetarians.
my aggravating brother in law (now, he is not annoying because he is veg, he is just annoying) will lecture you about rennet in gelatin but is a purveyor of all things birkenstock
well, to each their own... but i love being an omnivore
Perhaps the key is to accept someone's intent and to view their actions through the lens of intention rather than outcome alone
Me too kier, with heavy emphasis on "carni"
Aren't some people vegan or vegetarian at least inpart for health reasons? A veggie-based diet has a lot more fiber and vitamins and a lot less of the nasty kinds of fat than a meat-based diet.
Yeah, that's kind of weird, kierlex. I try not to by leather, but I will knit with wool yarn. There's just some things I'm not willing to give up.
*buy
well wool is an extremely renewable/sustainable resource. beats synthetic stuff
good point jan. i've been trying to incorporate more legumes and grain into the diet my sweetie and I follow ... but there's still a preponderance of meat
We have friends who raise sheep who think the sheep are a lot more comfy once shorn in the summer
"baby steps", I suppose, are better than no steps at all in the right direction
also you can make a positive impact on local economies/enviro by trying to buy local (like think of how many miles your tomato has travelled if it came from Mexico in January)...
Yay, happy sheep!
Okay, it's getting late for me. I'm down to 50 and still have 12 of the 7's hiding from me!!
all this talk of food makes me hungry. and i never crave veggies, it's always salty junk food!
mmmmmm salty junk food...
Me too. Somehow I never find myself saying, "Mmm...let's sneak out to the ktichen and snack on a rutabaga."
chips, salty chips
What is a rutabaga?
I think they're also called swedes. They're a pale orange kind of turnip.
and salty junk food WITH PLENTY OF MELTED CHEESE (slightly crisped/burnt)
I can see why you would not snack on one
lol Angb!
Chocolate coated almonds ...
mmmmm melted cheese...
Aren't they good for you? Almonds are supposed to be heart healthy and dark chocolate is loaded with antioxidants.
Yippee - that's what I like to hear ... and so is wine if you read the right research LOL
I am set! I eat healthy
Now just wash them down with a glass of red wine and feel virtuous...
Now just wash them down with a glass of red wine and feel virtuous...
Hah...stuttertyped. sorry
It was worth saying twice though.
i really swear by the 'All things in moderation' tenet. But modify it to "All things--except Coca Cola--in moderation"
BTW, snppngtrtle, is Portland getting freezing rain?
I know - I don't drink Coke - unless it has bourbon in it.
yesss, crispy cheese
good way to do it is to put thin slices or shreds of cheese in the microwave (in a glass dish) and just nuke it 'til it's bubbling like crazy. then take it out and let it cool. it gets crisp and you don't have to heat up the oven or use the stove top
It wasn't earlier, but I've heard it is supposed to later tonight.
hmm, metal, that sounds positively delish
That sound's awesome metal!
wow, 37 T words from the center. i just noticed that.
word to the wise, don't use a plastic dish, the oils in the cheese will melt, or at the very least warp, the dish
(voice of experience speaking here. there's a rubbermaid dish in my cabinet that will never be the same since the great parmesan toasting incident a couple of years ago)
morning all.....ti9 please?
good morning Flask
the ti9 relates to the ti7
Hi Metal
don't have that either
ti9 - boob + war time food doling out.
sorry!...:(
Both buid on the t/5/10
the ti7 means to determine the concentration of a liquid
thankyou Diane!!
YW Flask
Good morning all - a nice sized grid today.
Morning Haz!
good morning Haz
meteleather, i dont get the clue. morning haz
Think of it as three letters (type of bird) then six letters indicating portion
Dianne's clue's a very good one but if that doesn't work for you, try: slang word for breast + rodent + charged particle
ok, must take myself to bed. gnite all
'night kier, sleep well
Nite kierlex
'nite kierlex
Good night kierlex.
reny
oops
cursed playbabble...i should be studying for my quiz which is in 46 minutes
And yet you are here..... Good morning!
Hi Haz
i am...morning haz!
I suppose we could all ignore you, not chat with you but that would not make you study.
Ha! Babble ruins yet another otherwise good student!
this is true metal, and it would probably make me cry.
Bloodaxe - hope it's not worth much - this quiz
Bloodaxe, I've got a contract law seminar in just oer an hour - and it's gonna take me 20 minutes to get there. I'm still not dressed properly!
well, we don't want you to cry. that would be disastrous after such a pitiful breakfast
I read somewhere that you shouldn't cram the day of an exam anyway.
on the plus side, for the scholastic, i've been listening to NewsHour podcasts the whole time i've been playing.
Are you a law student Maverick?
thanks for supporting my addiction everyone..hahaha
Yeah. My mid-sessional exams in contract and property are in 2 weeks!
What university?
metaleather, i get the clues but nothing wants to come up
Northumbria. I'm on the exempting law degree - the only one in the UK where, at the end I qualify as an advocate.
My contracts and property exams are in two weeks as well.
Ah, so quite far north then? In terms of England, that is.
blom, do you mean you get a message in the chat log saying the word was not accepted?
Scary.
Yello
hello Jen
Newcastle. Tis a wondrous city!
and a wonderful Beer!
Oh yes. But sunderland uni's better :P
blombol. Do you have the ti5/10, relating to concentration of liquids (it has the same structure as a measurement of liquid). If you have ra6/18 relating to portion/allowance of food, then try to combine the two.
Sunderland Uni? Pfft... People drop out of Northumbria to go there...
i dont have the ti 5/10
Hehe :)
Good clue for the ti5/10 thanks Haz. Morning all
Any clue for the ar6? I have the one that is the painter.
Then, if you find it, your troubles will be over!. As I said, it has the same structure as the unit of measurement roughly equal to 2 pints.
There see to be a number of law students babbling. Is it because law is really boring OR is it to learn words that people don't understand (laugh)
i think the law students are only here when it's too late/too early to start drinking.
Mostly the latter, Angb.
nevermind...found it...
good morning FMitch
That's a cheering thought, Bloodaxe.
Aaah - of course didn't think of that Bloodaxe
So true, Bloodaxe. We're all just here to party.
Law's really interesting. One of my lecturers seems to have a rape/cheese fetish. Don't ask me how. We're only on here because we're students!
Hi metal, that is one heck of a boot in your incon!
Good morning FMItch! The gales are beginning to blow here.
And Bloodaxe, it's never too early to start drinking for law students!
Because Northumbria is crap. And 'cause the Brown Ale in YOUR union is rancid. As is the lager. And yes, it's too early to start drinking. Although roll on 9 o'clock and my half litre of vodkat :P
thanks guys got it. cant remember who gave me the clue about the charged particle cos it aint in there
rape/cheese? is that anything like the economist butter/guns fetish?
Hi Haz, I saw on the Beeb that you are in for some heavy weather today.
it is indeed. now when I find the one to wear it, we'll be set
Oh yes it is, three letters at the end.
It's batten down the hatches time. No rain yet.
depends on the type of particle you look for blom
Windy as anything this far north though
Jen, MY union had Pat Sharp and Fun House. And Matt Willis, drunk as a skunk.
ooohhhhh..."Supreme Court arguemtents about global warming"...i think I may have to miss my quiz....
Pat SHarp pre or post haircut?
8 words to go before I make the half way mark and allow myself to go to the list today
Yes, that should be an interesting case, BA.
Oh my Haz that has conjured up an image, that mullet!
Post, I'm afraid. Was just the other week. He did, however, bring the go-karts.
have you been looking at it?
It was a VERY strange mullet.
It's been the talk of the school lately.
cool. it's the subject of the NewsHour podcast that I just started.
NIce, I might have to get that. I can't wait to finally take some environmental law classes.
He brought the go karts? I have his autograph on my 'random nonsense' wall.
i hope it's soon banana...i just hope you don't get burned out on the issue like i did...although I guess you've been at it for quite a bit longer than i had before i started to stop caring.
Yes, he did. And dang, Jen, I'm coming over yours to worship it!
FMitch - have you found the birthmarks? n4 and n5.
Second year... so near, yet so far away.
just think about how sweet it will be when you finally get there....aaahhhhhh
TY Haz - and hello

na5/16, ne4/7 - variations on a theme (latin plural for birthmark)
come on ata..play with us. i'm supposed to have a quiz in 20 minutes, and I'M playing...
A good job Atalante isn't here. We can talk about her all we like.
hello not-here Atal - although you won't read this!
Bloodaxe - GO!
you can, nice things only though, please!
sorry not here person, requests concerning the subject matter of conversation are taken only from "here" persons

Bye! Do your best.
Bye Bloodaxe
Hi lynxxx, bye Blood
thanks haz....bye ana....miss youuuuuu!
I miss you too Doug!!!! Bye!
good luck Blood
hey haz, do you have any clues on ne 4/7, not getting the whole birthmark thing
hello FM
ne4/7 n * + L * * * Strauss brand jeans
mo6/24 is the maternal figure. Change one vowel to get a scots word for 'bother'
blombol - the ne4 birthmark - an anagram for the plant where grapes are grown. The word ends in a vowel.
One you have the ne4, add in a vowel for na5/16
love love love the ti9!
Haz mo6.24 ...there a wealth of words ending in those 4 letters - seems like you can just about put anything in front of them
I must be off. 'Night everyone!
Ata, why how nice to see you! I thought you were working this morning :)
Done for tonight. 36 left, and still six pesky 7's among them.
'bye snpp
I am! did I write something? must just be overwhelming delight at a big chemical word ;)
'night jan
Bye Jan, SnappingTurtle
Just adore that pic of Hobbit, the expression on her face is priceless!
silly dog! that was yesterday, I looked round in the car and there she was!
I'm disappointed that the ao won't cooperate to give us 'heart' words, but there are eye parts to compensate. re6/18, re7/28
Haz you said a word!!!
Blast - just realised....
Cardiac, I should have said..
but thanks for the r clues
You're welcome!
hi all! it figures the day i start late, it's a biggie.
hey atalante, any clues on the ti9/54?
But are you not glad to see a bigger total? Hello FranMag!
Hi Fran - best get your skates on
hi Fran
(We've obviously failed miserably on the ti9)
hi haz! hi lynxxx!
Hey Fran!!! it is a big one, too much for me today.
hi ml!
hi fmitch! so are you just watching?
what a man in WW2 who liked breasts would want each day *grin*
Using lickeys game so I don't screw up my ranking
And I thought an ar6 would come up with something delicate.
cool fmitch
well I thought of explaining chemically then realised most people would get a breast related thing quicker :P
are you talking about the person who likes to paint haz?
finally! half way mark so I can go to Lickety's
Ah but an ar6 paints a vivid picture
I am - Atalante is one.
ok got that one already
ti9 hee hee
hey georgi, any clues for the ti 9, im clueless
ata, does it build off the ti7/28? or is it a form of it?
back in a bit, need a caffeine replenishing break
nvm, got it! thanks, perfect clue
blombol - if you can't get a word keep a note of the clues and move on, there are 279 other words to be found. Or you can use www.a2z.com
blombol - try going onto other words and coming back to the ti9. Or try www.morewords.com as well.
blom, look at ata's clue. perfect!
phantom: titian
http://www.jockanddeb.com/cgi-bin/scra bblequery.cgi
is also a good resource
Speaking of WW2 (a while ago, admittedly) there's a shifty sp4/8 lurking
sp4/8 - the kind of guy who'd want a ti9
Exactly!
an7/32 good one from Haz.
sp4.8 is also an american word for what sales assitants get for large $ sales
You're welcome!
thanks haz, didn't know that word
thanks guys the brain is starting to warm up
I'm not sure where it originated but the Private Walker character in Dad's Army is a good example of one.
hello everyone!
Morning all, typical a big grid and I am not going to have alot of time today to finish!!
Hello mrpresident - nice to see you!

Oh yes, it is. Look behind you!
ROFL
hey haz not the ti, i meant the it, i already have the answer for the breastly portions
lol I got an it7 from those pa5 clues ...
Then why mention the breastly portions? I'm old and easily confused.
blombel - MRP said it was an IN9 - not that I have it though
told you people like clues mentioning breasts ...
ok, time to go and sleep!! bye all
Time for me to go as well - RDA this morning. Bye!
i meant NOT the breastly portions, do you have the clue for the other
bye Haz! bye mrp!

lynxx i am from the republic of south africa

it would be fun to *try* ... just for a moment. with help. lol
Hello everyone...
hi douglas!
Hello FranMag!
I've never been able to wear heels. My ankles "roll" too easily. If I tried these shoes, I'd break my neck, ankle and several other parts as well
hi Douglas
hello Douglas! haven't seen you for ages - missed your clues!
care to clue the it blom?
Hi Douglas
Hello metaleather, lynxxx, ren8
hi ren, didn't see you slip in
Hi Metal came in about ½ hour ago

They've made the coffee mugs considerably larger at Perkins...I drink the same amount of coffee, but in fewer mugfuls...
he7,32 would not be on he6.21
HEY META, it+ part of a word saying when you work with someone you are co-*********
Thanks blombol, you could also say that when you are working through a list of things you ******* through the list
ty Blom and Douglas, I'll work with your clues and try more diligently
hi all.................
hi hodag!
Hi Hodag
hey guys just got to5/10.sounds like when you guard a place you hold f***. take that word and add a vowel
hello hodag
hi hodag
hi Fran,Lynxxx,& Douglas, how is the grid?
a legal action changed to a yummy dessert with the addition of a vowel
so far so good hodag!
Hi metal
thanks douglas, forgot to do that
douglas, add another letter for yet another word
glad to hear it Fran.
add another letter to the yummy dessert that is.
ty Fran, I'd missed that one
Thanks Fran, and what exactly is a to 6/18, exactly?
does anyone have om 6/21
blom, for the om6/21 add a short version of thank you to the om4/5
douglas, web search seems to indicate it's related to the yummy dessert
thanks ml! what a weird word
You were more diligent than I, Fran, as I threw up my hands in despair after Googling "define:to6/18" yielded no results...
it's medical in nature, relating to the inner portion of the abdomen
that is the om word is medical in nature
douglas, every place i see it points to it being a classification of desserts to which the to5/10 belongs.
going to see what the staff canteen has to offer, hopefully not sweet potato again, dont really feel like it.
later blombol
'bye blom
don't you think they should let us use "tator" LOL
Of course not, as it's tater...
douglas used a word!
awww lol right
douglas said a wooord
I'm chagrined and dismayed!
that'
that's okay, i think volleymom forgives you
I know I do

yw blood
how on earth would you walk in it though? ty for the clue fran
hey guys struggling with the last ye5/14, NOT the word describing that you want something so badly. and also NOT the word where the first three is the currency of japan
yw kth
well, I wouldn't be the one walking. WEG. I'd be the one holding the key to that lock
blombol, there are two that both mean gossipy woman in yiddish
lol
just change last letter
Blobbel - struggle a bit more with the end of the currency one
blom, it's almost the same as the one with the currency beginning. only the last letter differs
thanks got it
Blobbel ?! I think that is Blombol struggling with Babble - sorry Blombol
and as for the shoes........ I might even be evil enough to fasten the pair together with a short length of chain
a light, delicate yet sturdy chain
lol metal, remind me not to stop by your house...
I'm actually quite tame at home.
its fine, i know who you are talking to. blombol is an afrikaans word, so i would think a lot of babblers will not get the word completely
metal - you had better hold that imagination in check! its going to get you into trouble.
LOL@myself for being more bark than bite
what does it mean blombol
as long as I'm careful not to be the one wearing the shoes, I should be fairly safe.
blom is flower and bol is ball. so its flowerball. i got it from an afrikaans soapie. there was nothing else, smithie was taken
It's a nice word though, I like it
Mornin' Babblers - you could have tried Egoli, Blombol!
Hi Sugar
morning sugar and anyone I missed whilst away from the computer:)
I guessed correctly at the meaning then blom.

night fran
yvw. may I ask about your group?
The Red Hat Society is a worldwide society of women, mostly over the age of 50 who get together to do nothing more than have fun, get silly, play dress-up in red and purple colors, etc.
does anybody have the ro 8/55
here's the url for the society Ata, it'll explain it much better than I could. http://www.redhatsociety.com/
We usually get together (always for food) and sometimes to do other things like go shopping, play cards, etc.
I don't have any 8s yet blombol
the only 8 I have is the "mo"
G'd Morning all. I have an hour before work. Looks like a tough one today.
good morning Lori
Nonnie, which is?
mornin lori
morning Lori.
mo8 = $$ usually paired with "value"
ty nonnie
yw
thanks Nonnie, I actually got that clue!
thanks Nonnie
well darn! it's 7:00 and time to get ready for work. Have a great day all and I'll be back later to work on this monster.
yw all and have a good day--gotta get my tail feathers off to work
bye katy
bye katy and nonnie
bye yall -------- Katy OUT!
Have a good one Katy.
oooh ty katy and metal ... *looking at the website*
and Nonnie
yvw Ata
http://www.redhatsociety.com/searchPRO C.lasso
it 9/72 mo 8/55 mo 8/55 ro 8/55 ti 9/54
that should take you to a page with results for a UK chapter search
do all of the it's build off of the first one?
this is not as easy as it looks today
the it 9 builds on the it 7/28 ... sort of
"motheaten" not in the dictionary, lol
the first 6 letters are the same for each word
thanks enemy
hey enemy, got the very last sp 5/12 above sp 4/8
sorry, blombol, I don't
blom, there's a saying which goes as follows: don't cut off your nose to sp5/12 your face
if that doesn't work for you, try adding a vowel to the end of the sp4/5
ty Enemy, your clue enabled my monkeys to find the word
got that one metal
yw
can get a clue for the 2nd mo7/32?
hmmm, sorry blom, I must have missed one
its what is at the end of a glacier, Blood
and, blood, during a dry summer ND farmers would to see more fall from the skies
thanks enemy.
Good Morning All, may I have a clue for the ro8
hahaha...the second clue is great! too bad that your first did the trick.
hi peri.
hi peri
Hi Peri and hello to all you happy Babblers... just logged on to find a bigger grid today.. wahoo..
omen
hi aloy! nice begining!
ooh, sorry... going to my corner now to lurk.. (-:
ro8......... describing something as ro8 lets us know is relates to ro6/18........ and is twisty/turny
i agree blood, oooooooooh you said a word!!!!!!!
hello Aloy, Peri
about a singular point
good morning Aloy
dang it, again?!
Goo day, Babblers. A big grid finally.
ty metal
hi Scrabbler
yw kt
hey scrabbler.
hi scrabbler
Hi Scrabbler
metal, i dont get the clue about ro 8
hmmm, let me try again
is you say describe, then say something is descriptive......
ro 8--- someone who uses his hands a lot in speaking is very demons******* (have to eliminate a consonant before the first vowel)
extrapolate from that and apply the principle to ro6 and ro8
thanks metal and Enemy
cle for ti9 please
are the 2 mo8s related, I have the value one
peri it's something you learn in chemistry class
yw peri
well, kthdsn, I didn't learn much in chemistry class,
oh dear lol
but I got the ti9 anyway, thanks kthdsn
oh good
need the 2nd mo8, have the $ one
me too
mo8 - the second - get the mo7.32 immed after the cash one - the person that looks after something - and then add the same cons as the other
kthdsn, the consonants for both mo 8/s are the same ... change the second and third vowels to get the second one
ty both of you
Ack, this is a toughie. Coffee time, and soon have to go. :(
TY--I got the mo8's, and th ti8, but those ro clues went past me.
thanks lynxxx and Enemy
Opps, that was a ti9.
gidday peeps
hi Colhad
Hello Peep Colin
Colhad !!!!!!! Hi - haven't seen you for ages!
howdy metal, gidday scrabbler, lynxx
scrabbler ro6 turns, and the 8 adds a bit more to the ending
naa, been playin other games
ro 8 --- the Earth ro***tes around the sun; we l*** on a planet in the Milky Way
Glad to see you back then Colhad
ty lynxx
hi colhad
I found the ro's, TY!
gidday kthdsn
Am I being thick on the in 7? Clue please?
lori take the ending off the ir9
oh sorry that's an ir, I should read before I type
in7 - in + trick or *****
Clues on the in8 and in9?
intreat
Oh man, I am sorry!!!
LOL Thanks all!
hehe
ty Scrabbler, not worry
not to worry I mean
I like Scrabblers clues... :)
Well, I have an in7 obviously, but am still looking for in8 and in9.
I am glad you got my clue, Lori. :)
Scrabbler - don't thinkk those exist - it7 & it9 ?
had to think long and hard :P
Well, I am clearly quite confused without the list. Time to look at that.
it7.28 means to emphasise or spell out or repeat
OK, it7 and it9---**searching furiously for long words**
it 7/28 it 9/72 and it 5/12 do exist ... however I do not have any of them
scrabbler I have only heard them with RE on the beginning, if that helps at all
Hi faerie.
hi faerie
Hello my friends :)
Hello my friends :)
morning everyone
hi eva
morning all
hi une
Hi Eva, Kate, Scrabbler Une
Hello Faerie and Eva and Unea
Une I love your icon hahahah we had the same idea
indeed! :-D
Cool, une!
Good morning all - glad to be back inside from very stormy weather outside.
Help on it9, please.
hi Haz
hey, haz!
Are you all well settled into the grid?
yes help with the it9 please
There are an abundance of words, Haz.
hi haz, it's stormy where you are?
nope I'm just now sitting down do it
faerie, do you have it7?
no Une
It's blowing a gale. Thank goodness I have no boat trips scheduled!
it's not titmouse
take the it7 and insert an ** drip in there
Oh, I found it9 now. Since I won't have time to finish the grid I at least want to find the biggies.
oh, good clue, crone!
oh wait that doesn't start with it lol
ty
I was on earlier and got to 136 before I had to leave. Back to get some more winkled out.
OK, I must get ready for work now. I'll be back tonight. Have a great day everyone.
Bye Scrabbler.
Bye Scrabbler have a good day
bye scrabbler
bye Scrabbler
ah, a big puzzle today. Morning all!
does anyone have the other E from the bottom right, I have en + choo choo
hi dr gwen
good morning DocGwen
Hi all - Crone an ** drop - say again somehow
ursh a drip, what they give you in hospital to rehydrate you
aahh now i see ty
sorry so slow - am very frazzled - husband brought home multi-function - printer/fax/scan/phone and i am just supposed to know how to install it - managed
wd ursh
I take it he refused to read instructions?
Haz he cant even switch on a computer - and the insructions are just pictures - have to load cd which kept freezing my pc - had to download from i/net - feeling very clever now
Well done for persistence in the face of adversity.
Ty - now just have to persist with 109 words left
kthsdn - en = to beg/plead
eurgh I hate it when the enclosed cd's don't work, I've had that happen loads of times
It'll be relaxation after what you've had to do.
Very irritating when family interfere with babble
ty sandr I'll work on that
It comes from the top e, though.
oh does it lol
- oh - it could come from the bottom one though
rntre
the other e from the bottom is probably en7.44 - and I think it will have something to do with assisted conception - maybe clutching at straws though
wherever it comes from I can't see it
That would be an in word, I think.
lynxx wouldn't that start with an i
and I believe it's two words
kthdsn - extend the tr5/10
I did say straw clutching !
So, we know what it's not, but not what it is....
choccies to the first one to clue it!
ursh -
yes crone
ty sandr found that one
en plus snake poison.
sorry - ursh it9 = it7 & put an **y league college in before the final vowel
crone tx got it
yeah haz - ferrero rocher?
Choccies for Haz !
en7/44 -en plus snake poison. Choccies are mine, I think? I'm not fussy.
ty haz, I'm sure that's not a word but it greyed out my E
box on its way
Thank you sandr!
haz, TY, great clue!
another box from me

Im drooling Ata
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they're only 4" then no need to feel guilty.

YW Alien

And diabetes inducing sugar rushes.
emotion
Finally ..

You just needed to say hi I think bunny!!

Probably, I'm iced in the house with all the kids today. As long as the phone lines don't go down, we won't see a scene from the Shining.

Morning all. Does anyone have the it9?
I live in a small village which is great for the community, but it's a short car journey to 4 bigger towns or so which is great for the shopping to
no mkl not yet, to busy chatting !
Yes, mkl - it builds on the it7/28 - to emphasise, and has the almost plant ending (as in elite universities in US)
Morning mkl
oh thats really nice! I have about the same situation here, living between Canterbury and Whitstable and Faversham
When i was a child living in London we always went on holiday to Whitstable
Haz. Did you mean that the it7 means (to emphasise)?
does any one have the pe5/12?
Yes, it's normally seen with a re in front.
Blood its really small
oh really? I bet its changed a bit over the years ... I do love it though, its my favourite little town to wander around in
ugh - I'm back for the moment - darned lawyers and their work!!

et7?
There's an om6 formed by losing the t at the beginning of the to7
I don't get the "short for thank you" part.
ty haz even odder
et7 - extend french for state

Grace - think of how a cockney would say Thanks. Two letters.
GraceM, I love you little hamster! Thanks for the i 9 Haz, I helped me get the em I've been looking for too.
ah..got it now. thx Haz.
That ending occurs a couple of times in other words as well.
once agin befuddled by brit slang!
Think of it as an education!
care to share grace? :)
end of io4/4 Angela...
ty
thanks. Could I get a clue for the E in the lower right corner? I hate to leave for work without at least one word from each letter!

Or en7/28 - en plus a mode of transport/method of preparation for sporting achievement
phew, 80%, and i got all the 8's and 9's myself.
*pat on back*
haz, i appeal to you, if you are nameless, do you or do you not suffer from anomia?
I have never been diagnosed with such a condition but I shall look it up to see if I have the symptoms.
anomia is definitely a word. must be.
sorry, should have said "one" not "you"
Do you clean Windows XP with emonia?
it IS a word.
booooooooo
If it is a word, the dictionary (mine, admittedly flawed) does not yield a meaning.
lol tor
anomia - the inability to name objects or to recognize the written or spoken names of objects. Afternoon all
Haz, can you clue the en7 again? Maybe put a little twist on it?
anomia - Noun 1. anomia - inability to name objects or to recognize written or spoken names of objects
"a form of aphasia in which the patient is unable to recallthe names of everyday objects"
is there a support group fmitch?
jinx!
It's a word. My dictionary is rubbish.
i've looked back at the log and am working on ep7 and et7... puzz puzz
dang
LOL I don't know. For once dictionary.com recognised a word and has the def!
I've heard anomia associated with stroke victims.
I'm sure anomia has been allowed before
en7/44 - en plus the word for snake poison.
well it isn't allowed today.
Hursh, th ep 7 - ep + you can get ** on Ebay + little yard statues gn***s
Have that one Haz. Thanks though. It was the en + mode of transport thank has me seeing double.
oh, duh! i was thinking along the lines of epistomology

Use your circling ro6 and add the university plant ending
Thanks so much
i keep starting out so nicely and then get left hanging. vian... vipe... vist... venia...
university plant??
54 to go. Need a rest. Thanks for the clues.
harvard is in the *** league. except not y but e
ursh - the three letter sequence I am talking about looks a bit like a plant - commonly in a phrase to describe elite US universities.
ok got you thanks
oh got ve4/7 alt sp of ve5/16, just one v to go
latin pl! yay!
so when i said it wouldn't take latin, i guess i lied.

i have 2 M7's, i suppose there are more?
It takes me a while to look up the words after I have used the clues-I refuse to use a list!
that ra 7...I kept trying to stick an "n" in it but finally got it
There are more m7 words.
i tried to stick a V on the beginning of it. it isn't often we have french for "truly"

Any clues for the ne 4/7?

ne4/7 - ne plus the possibility word (two letters)
ne + no **s ands or buts
it is the adjectival form of the it7
For the it 9 - take off the last letter of the it7 and replace with the three letter sequence used in mo6/30 (the reason for doing something)
thnx...mo 5/16..pls
oh finally - thx for all the clues on that darn it9
mo5/16 - make the mo4/5 before it into an adjective
that ending is tricky!
Thank you for the great ne 4/7 clues...I am afraid it is actually the na 4/7 that I need...any clues there?
But it's used a lot today, so it's useful.
It's the same two letters that are added for the na4/7.

thanks haz for the to

ar6/18 - the ending, put before ment would be healing

this might be the first one in months, that I don't finish....
see, i keep a list where i type in any "weird" words -- i alphabetize them all, but before i did that, i counted 32 of 'em from today
Wish I could say that harp
hmmm, there's probably more than 32, since i don't type in the ones i've already typed in, ya know?

faerie - a little faerie dust for us weary babblers?
See you around davurs ... I feel the same
that's wonderful!
i have 103 to go - gonna get the list & try to make it before the flip - think i have a chance?
Of course you can helen
I dunnor helen, I've been using the list and I still have 89
you have a chance helen if you keep the aspirin handy...
harp have you found that mo? I don't think its in the grid! LOL
btw has anyone seen fireworks today?
lucke?
Found it harp - mo 4/5 the little thing + sometimes vowel
davurs - that's the one thing i can't have - aspirin or any blood thinner, cause i'm having a test tomorrow - they're going to do doppler radar of my neck
doppler radar????? I thought that stuff was for outer space.
they use it to track how blood is flowing - i had a ct for something else, so of course they find a possible thrombosis in my right jugular - this is the next step
that doesn't sound nice helen
sheesh...hope it goes well for you helen...puts a new meaning into going for the jugular...
hi everyone!
Yes, me too, best wishes and hope you get good news.
no, the test itself isn't bad - i just lay there, similar to mri, without the noise, but 'live'
hi volley
hi VMD
lol dav- yeah i know, that's a little scary
Let us know how it goes helen

pancho you have to find words of 4 letters or more from adjoining tiles. it should have taken "torn" - it's on my list. try it again?

actually, now I see that I already had them all..... thanks anyway! 65 to go, not looking good!
what is a trite
can't believe it a word
bye davurrs
pancho, it's bad form to type words into the chat log - ruins the challenge. trite isn't in the log but it means overused, like a phrase that gets worn out from repetition.

I should really use the list if I clue ... then I know what people are talking about.
it 9 - i can't get it off the 7
my guess (my hope) for tomorrow is a smaller grid... say, about 156
But hey ... I am still only 78 off finishing without the list.
I've only clued a couple times, and I have all sorts of respect for those of you who do it all the time......so effortlessly.
add intra venous (abbrev) and vowel
describe/descriptive
18 to go, I"ll never make it, all 4/4/ and 5/10 words so I've minimized the damage to my rankings
apply that to the it
aha - ty
dr. god REALLY need to fix that 2 minute gap, I could use it tonite\
63 words for the next - altho it's Saturday so I can spend more time - 262 then
145 would be nice
