good night, fellow babblers..this time for real
night, annie
Oh, and if you discount same scores on the Babb top rankings, I'm 15 again. LOL.
'Nigh, Annie.
jac, I don't understand those scores. How can they go DOWN when we finish repeatedly?
ji;;i - if I was a person who does maths or Iron Suokuh, I could no doubt answern your question.
ji;;i is a cute spe;;ing - ;o;
Dr_G's explanation of player rankings:The Babble Rankings page is divided into three ladders, showcasing the top 1000 players in each category. The Cream o' the Crop This ladder is based on a player's average per-puzzle performance. For each puzzle that a player participates in, his or her score is divided by the maximum possible score for that puzzle and then multiplied by 1000 to come up with a score between 1 and 1000. The average of all the player's scores is then calculated to get his or her "raw rank." An additional point for every puzzle that the player has completed is then added to their raw rank to come up with their final rank. Formula: average(round(total points earned ÷ total points possible x 1000)) + (# of puzzle completions) Village Elders This ladder is based on a player's entire Babble career. It's just a raw total of all the points a player has scored since the dawn of Babble. Who's Hot This ladder showcases the best players from the past 30 days. This is a chance for rookies to get some recognition. Rankings are calculated using the same formula as the Cream o' the Crop ladder.
uh...?? sounds like math... so, what's for dinner?
kn5 is food
well, one of them anyway
Yes, I've read that and still don't understand because I finish most of the time but my score goes down.

My emu has let me down! I did that menu when in the grip of TYhe Dreaded Lurgey. Oh well, I'll come up with somethning for a meal later.
I may also regain the ability to spell and type again.
oh jac! I will find you a nice emu recipe... we can still salvage this! :)

And as for having emu for dinner... Shock, horror! I culdn't do that to my emu!
hey -- nice dinner shaping up
I think we should pass on the y's
BBQ Emu * Prepare a good sized hole in the ground filled with white ash and coals. * Take young hen - stretch neck. * Remove some feathers for decoration. * Place hen on coals and cover with green boughs. * Cook until all feathers are gone and skin is golden brown. * Rub with Mallee Roots to remove quills. * Tip * Serve to old men and dogs, then the women and kids.
I always thought emu was tasty
MrP - are you suggesting we should murder Gladys \(my fictionsl pet emu)?
I kid you not!! this is an aboriginal recipe!
I don't doubt your word, MrP. Gladys, however, is outraged!
I think a recipe for mo5/12 would be about the same
except for the feathers
Mmmm Bush tucker
Glady! think of the mo5!! same ark!
mo5/12 do not have feathers...
lol
No they don't. But think how cool it'd be if they did!

You Don't Have To Own A Cat To Appreciate This One! We were dressed and ready to go out for the New Years Eve Party. We turned on a night light, turned the answering machine on, covered our pet parakeet and put the cat in the backyard. We phoned the local cab company and requested a taxi. The taxi arrived and we opened the front door to leave the house. The cat we put out in the yard, scoots back into the house. We didn't want the cat shut in the house because she always tries to eat the bird. My wife goes out to the taxi, while I went inside to get the cat. The cat runs upstairs, with me in hot pursuit. Waiting in the cab, my wife doesn't want the driver to know that the house will be empty for the night. So, she explains to the taxi driver that I will be out soon, "He's just going upstairs to say goodbye to my mother." A few minutes later, I get into the cab. "Sorry I took so long," I said, as we drove away. "That stupid bi*** was hiding under the bed. Had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off, so I grabbed her by the neck. Then, I had to wrap her in a blanket to keep her from scratching me. But it worked! I hauled her fat ass downstairs and threw her out into the back yard!"
ahaha mrp!
good one, mrp

keeps her body covered and doesn't wear skimpy frocks

the undefined 5 is a 5/18, comes first alphabetically in the mis, nan. think mi**ing, chopping finely.

I realy want mook to be a word! hi all :)
Good morning Atalante.
hi Ata *hugs* ! There is a valid one that sounds the same, though.
thanks sprite
I know, but mooooook just looks lovely!
we wanted 'gnism'
I would even settle for 'gnish'
Is it just me, or are there quite a few words from yesterday?
there are, Haz. Funny thing with babble, happens often. Some words you don't see for ages and then days in a row.
Are those the only two choices, Haz?
hi ata
Only two choices I can think of at the minute, Rabble....
at least there's a word like gnish :)
true - one of the first I found :)
5 left and all Ms??? How did I do that?
fireworks
yeah saphyre!
Congratulations saphyre.

Well done sprite.
Congrats, sprite. May you excel today in the craft of life.
Ah, if I were half as good at that as at finding words...
Yay, sprite! And thanks for the whale clue (even though I went fishing for orcas first...)
The whale is on my private list of babblets, lol. Took me ages to find it the first time I came across it here.
Three more to go and then to bed...

I came back yesterday after a long bout of obsessive-compulsive behavior with another game
oh no, another one?
Bye mari.
Not a word game - fantasy RPG.
yes, those can become obsessions.
hey guys got 12 to go, taking a break
later blom
i'm trying to remember how douglas usually says this...meaningless protest against "hotty" not being accepted.
spell it differently fran
I think that's a pretty good rendition, Fran.
never mind, i was wrong
there is a ho7 that starts the same way though katy, is that the one you're thinking of?
or as my hubby says, I was wr wr wr wr not right, he won't say the w word
I'm afraid ANY game that entertains me triggers such behavior. Good thing I'm otherwise socially acceptable (more or less, anyway), otherwise I might turn into a real sociopath
yep, that was what i was thinking of.
yep, that was what i was thinking of.
why did I get that 2 times?
it happens to me all the time
hmmm.....
So I have to find an ho7......
You repeated yourself Katy cause ther is 2 HO7s
it's kind of a dumb one haz
i have one if any one wants it
I've found it - but it doesn'l look nice.
ahhhhh that's it!
ooh, thanks lynxxx! *begins search*
and no, the one i have doesn't look nice and it is kind of a dumb one
Dear goodness, another ho7 - can my brain take it?
haz, both of them are dumb!!
i found the second one, looks dumber than the first
they both have to do with temperature though
That's desperate.
The ho7/36, I mean.
did we not say it was dumb? :-)
Indeed.
love the Y words!
yes, nice ones ata. hi!
They are fun.
are there just two of them?
Yes, amanda
yes, only two Ys
there should be a third, if you ask me, but I guess enable doesn't see it as a verb
yeah, the only def is a noun.
Looking up the definition jogged the memory that Jonathan Swift made up the word in Gullivers Travels.
yay! got all the Ks
How many of those, Fran?
4
hmm, 1 more then...
ah, found it!
i'm kind of surprised that mo5/16 is accepted, it's kind of modern for enable.
go amanda!
especially with internet unacceptable
that's right, forgot about that ata.
Okay, I'm going to take a break. Sleep deprivation (thanks to phone calls at 2.00 am, 5.00 am and 6.30 am) makes for sloooooooooow babbling. I'll be back later, hopefully more awake.
awwwww poor Haz :(
later haz!
bye Haz
Husband is worse - I got to stay in bed. He had to get up and go out!
see ya haz!
But he's off to work as usual this morning. Anyway, see you later!
i just realized there are 34 M words!
i thought i was doing pretty good and then realized i only have 6 of the lower one.
lol so have I Fran!
found the mi7 at least
any one have the oe please x

Good morning everyone

lynxxx, my icon has him too, it's today's theme...sinterklaas
so this "father Xmas" does it all?
got the ed and oe, thanks all.
In keeping with the holiday spirit ... Sinterklaas
hi fran,Odin and any one I missed
I'm obviously a bit slow! I do take a little while to catch on!

I Eva I didn't even know you were on ! are you having a bad time?lol
Hi everyone,, I'm doing what Eva is doing... going through the grid my first time before I emerge from lurking... need to concentrate before chatting.. but don't want you to get lonely on this wonderful Wednesday..
I always seem to do that, after my first chat post, I forget to shift over
i hate a's! As much as re's
hiya Aloyisius. I do that all the time, madding isn't it!!
wow, over half the words today are fours
Aloy I see your a bird nerd.so am I,it is a wonderful hobbie! I keep 7 feeders up and filled year around.
hey, that's great. Black oiled sunflower seeds?
I'm just about to put my feeder up for the first time this year. We can't put food out until it's cold enough to be pretty sure that the bears are sleeping. But today looks like a good bet. Have a huge bag of black sunflower seeds just waiting. Then it usually takes a few days for the birds to come back. I wish we could keep them up year round, but the bears just eat the feeders.
Eva that is very interesting.. in Ohio the deer and squirrels raid the feeders, but not bears.. egads, thats a huge invader! They must wolf down the seed pronto
I mix blk.oled and thissle,it draws so meny different kinds. My son in-law is really into it,HE has a long list of the birds he wants to find and he goes out in the woods, fields and swamps looking for them!
The bears are a pain but, also intersting.
He could join Audubon and go on guided walks with experts... they bird by ear as well as sight, so they know when a species in around and can alert you to spotting them
He does all of that and chats with others on the internet with the same interest.
Not just the seed-the feeder itself. The year before last they pulled the tubes apart and tore the metal grommets out. Lasy year the squirrels ate a hole right through the bottom. But it turns out that the feeder manufacturer really means "lifetime warranty". They just sent me free replacement parts. The problem with the smaller seed is that they shovel it out to get to the "good" stuff. I don't know much abotu birds at all, but am learning and keep my book by the window. Have mainly jays, junkos, sparrows, purple finches, gold finch, a barred owl, nuthatches, chickadees.
d
sounds like you know a lot of birds, Eva! My coffee is ready, so I will bbsoon
I'm thinking of getting a cd to learn the calls. Any suggestions?
I have the same and a few more and two weeks ago 4 Bob-whites came in and they are around every few days, what awsum birds!
I don''t know if I've ever seen one. Will look them up later.
I will ask around for you he may have one!
thanks!
The (Bobs.) are like quail.

hi Mom
Good morning, Mom
Hi Kate, Inge, Wolvie and BabbleRabble
aknitter you are in the grid today! (sort of)
i saw that how exciting -- i love yarn
aknitter do you have a website about your knitting?
no i don't know how to do that i am a computer dope
oh that's a shame, I'm looking for some inspiration lol
perhaps some day i will learn how to do that
I could help you out if you want a site
i would imagine it would be beyond me i can turn it on and turn it off and .....
my mum was a knitter before her wrists got bad, she's thinking of starting again so I suggested making an online store for her, she hasn't decided yet though
Kate do you knit also? I would love to learn.
she should keep knitting just with frequent breaks. movement keeps the joints well oiled
mom if you were not so far away i would teach you
I can do all the stitches and follow the patterns but I can't find a lot of things I actually want to make
I made myself a long scarf in loose moss stitch, it's gorgeous, my friend has asked me to do her one too
I knit, a bit, very slowly
Cables are my favorite thing to do
thank you aknitter. I would love that. Our library is trying to get a beginners class going. They are in search of an instructor. That is where I am learning to quilt.
hmmm would be a long commute! I have done some classes locally
I did a cable jumper metal, it took me so long to do and my husband hasn't even worn it lol
yes, it would be. I could house you though.
lol
looking for the ti 5/12
kth -- i laugh every time i hear that phrase -- jumper -- here it is a type of childs dress
I even learned to do cable patterns via crochet... lots harder than doing them by knitting
me too aknitter
lol really, I guess you call them sweaters then
I bought a pattern book, needles and yarn to make dish cloths. I pay someone $2.25 a piece for them.
blom, more than one ti4/5
ti 5/12 the plural of ti 4/5
sweaters yes
blom add an ess to the word aknitter used in her last post ;-)
looking for the ti 5/12, already got the plural of what you see on a watch
and there is also the past tense of that same word, the 4/5 I mean

far from being as4/4 in the grid today, i felt right at ho4/6. when you get right down to the ni5-gr6, all you really need to do is to use your he4/6, and the words become quite (dis)TI5/12.
i would think that "hotty" should be a word
annie -- i usually spell it "hottie" personally...heh
Good morning/afternoon all.
isnt Paris Hilton (ugh) considered a hotty (ie)
hi haz
Hi Haz!
Good grief, I arrive and Paris is the topic of conversation.......
tut annie, lowering the tone like that
Good afternoon, all.
Haz, I hope not, was just referring to the non-word hotty
hey jac
Hi Jacula!
Oh, I've mentioned her a few times myself, so I'm as guilty as the next one.
Hello Jacula!
Hi Haz.
howdy!
hey smooth
morning, smooth
hey smooth
why are there so few guys in babble
Maybe there are lots who lurk and don't converse? Or maybe it's that women are more words orientated.
not that I mind, it's a good place to complain about them when they misbehave lol
hey now!
Well, we women apparently speak a lot more in a day than men do. I can't remember the figures now. Something like 7,000 words a day for men and 15,000 for women?
Jacula, exactly.
you'd think that more guys would be here... since we can't get interrupted while typing, the same way we can every time we try to say something in real life. ;)
i think most men do not have the patience to sit and really look for words more so strange words
It was something like that Jacula - I'm not convinced that I speak that many words a day!
ed clue please
I probably double that, I talk to everything
LOL, smooth. You can on here!
ed---swelling
ed - a variant spelling of the swelling oe6
ooooh maybe the guys are all busy doing something else online wink wink
Haz - you'll have to get fitted with a wordometer (like a pedometer) and check.;)
tx haz tried every comb except that i suppose
mornin everyone

we studied them both at school and they have merged together in my mind
especially since in macbeth the only person who could harm him was born via caesarian...
well, would be different if it was March
You mean Julias was a doctor?
One of our clients once asked for a sectarian operation, rather than a caesarean, for a pregnant ewe.
those ae*** happen every month, not just march
What Caesar should avoid when he goes to the jungle?
I somehow thought that it was caesar who killed macbeth, ooops!
yes, but there is only one to beware of
why can't I have 'demist' ?

Greetings everyone........hoping for some clues to finish up my last 3 before leaving for the day. The sm 7.40 has bewildered me all morning???
just use the gerund ending to the sm4 before it, contrary
Finally, fireworks, but landed two fish before the light show!! Double Doh! Thanks for the clues. Anyone need help?
hello contrary congratulations scarlet:)
bravo scarlet! Three left for me, going smoothly but thanks
sm7: what Zeus does with the lightning bolts
too simple, thanks Aloyisius
(-: yw
Hi Jean1953, Thanks, and thanks Aloy. I'm not really proficient at clue-giving, but I'll try
st6/30 made me smile! I didn't realize it was an acceptable word.. heehee
And my last 2, mi 5.20 & mi 6.33 Assuming they are related??
That st6/30 is gutter slang for really drunk
a whale and its pl
aah, so that's what it means.. I use it a lot when I am dissatisfied.. how st6.30 !!!
Thing mi**, add a vowel, and then pluralize
Sorry, Con, I meant, think mi**
either way, thing, think, it isn't working for me!! :)
Your 4/9 and extend it with a vowel then pluralize
okey dokie, fireworks.. have a minute or two and then back to work.. anyone need a clue?
my last one is the mo5/12 if anyone can clue it please :)
the last mo5.12 that is
just pl the mo4 before it, sparkly
It's akin to the applesauce people: mo** and add an s
ah so simple! hehe
thanks aloy :)
sometimes they need to jump out and bite you! Glad you found it...
Good job, Aloy. Congrats!
i think i need clues for the clues ! lol
Fireworks, thanks Scarlet & Aloyisius! At least my last 2 words weren't things I use/say everyday! I hate that!
Yay, contrary! now I'll go in peace.. happy babbling all..
Yeaaaa! Way to go Contrary1!!
Is there more than one "o" word?
Yes, there are 4 of them
3 o words
Thx, I was afraid of that.
right 4, I just have 3 of them. Sigh
So long, Aloy, nice losing my mind with others ! ;-)
afternoon, evenin' all! stuck with 39 to go
hello book doctor gwen:)
Hi, Dr. Gwen. Welcome to the hoedown. Had a troll infestation earlier, but Dr. God "flushed" them. Rah!!
that me finished
were they at least amusing trolls? hi all!
trolls, bleachh! glad i' missed 'em or i woulda got some scars in the battle
clue for the ae 5.12 please
trolls who couldn't spell, which was slightly amusing
No, they were pre-pubescent, foul, ugly little creatures that would make my Scandinavian forefathers very angry. Mini-Monsters
how can a troll get int the chat room withour speking fifteen dollars??
Iesha, did you get fireworks? If so, congratulations!
without spending (she meant to type)
They have study periods and hack into sites, with some very poor, base humor... Dr. God didn't take any time at all... *Poof* and they were gone
Sharon: ae 5/12, the mosquito that causes Yellow Fever
You don't need the pro upgrade to use the chat, by the way.
i tried using the chat before i paid, and i could not get "in." i could type and enter but no one else could "see" me.
hi all! total for today?
TY for the mosquito clue, BTW
ho 7.40 and 7.36?
(scribbling new word onto list of weird words)
I am here for free, Book , sorry
Hmmm, I don't think *i'm* invisible.
ty for the clue also BTW, although I havent gotton it yet
*I'm
ho 7/40: to be in the action of warm
YW Dr. Gwen. If you're over warm, you're ho*, add another, identical cons. and add gerund; then add the sort of overwarm ending
elis, nope, i can see you fine. that's weird. (maybe i should try to get arefund LOL)
Walnut: 146, and not too weird
thanks scarlet!
okay, so what are the things you get with Pro that you don't get with Free (I don't recall since I joined 2 days after I learned about the site)
YW, Wal.
stats, friends list, custom buddy icon, flag, profile. According to the note I see here.
I don't know much about it. My daughter "gifted" me with her site, and to think of it, I haven't read the profile... so Babblers might think I'm 25... double that and add another decade!!!LOL
(coulda sworn I got the stats when it was free) Hmmmm...
I think you get the stats free for two weeks
You get the stats for 14 days, until you are hooked. ;-)
but that explains why some of you have no flag or icon. i assumed it was cuz you left that part of profile blank
there's like a two week trial period, then all that stuff disappears until you pay ;)
or maybe a fortnight (just to cover all the bases)
My name is Scarlet and I'm a Babblemaniac
ah . . . free for 14 days . . . that explains why some times one of us asks how many words there are, or whatever
(so easily hooked, didn't take me two weeks to decide i wanted all the extras!)
How did you pay for the upgrade, Dr. Gwen? Online?
scarlet, i used my shiny new check card, as i recall. why do you ask?
Because this was my daughter's game, but her work kept her too busy to take advantage of it... so good old mom inherited the obsession. I'd like to go pro for just myself.
I've been doing the puzzle without stats for a few days now and I miss being able to grey out the letters. I was hoping that Sinterklaas would upgrade me to Pro today.
me 4.5
Ooooo Scarlet you are only 24 - lucky you - surely you can just change the profile details??
sharon, out west, this might be part of the landscape
dont get it K.Elisabeth
Scarlet - you there - you can change profile - click on my account and update the profile
it's like a mountain, but flat on top
Can i have the clue for the R please? I have the ri 4/8
Ursh, I just went to account information, and tried to update my daughter's info... I haven't been 24 since the Himalayas were being formed! LOL
mike: what happens when some one calls you... your phone will do this!
Me neither - can count in decades to go back to 24
DUHHH! Thanks, I am not thinking today
Ursh, now I have to stop being such a Luddite, and figure out how to do the icon thing with something vastly improved than my old mug. LOL
Profile looks good Scarlet - picture of the cat maybe
How did you get into the acct. infor, since I thought one must click on the icon in the chatline? I'm so behind the times :-(
oe 6.24
Sharon, if you have the ed5/14, add the fourth vowel to the beginning of the word.
I checked my own account and could see you could change info

Dont have a photo that works. She is black and doesnt photograph well.
Sa : the Marquis de SA**, and plural
aww, is she altogether black, inge? No tan?
put her on a red blanket, inge.
off to sleep now, night guys
Good evening (or fill in your appropriate time of day) everybody!
lol, inge2
If there is an oe word, i would like a clue.
hi gramma
Hi gramma, good evening
She is a predominantly Dachshund mongrel, mediium long haired
the oe word is related to the ed one, meaning swelling
ty inge
mom - its sa4 plus a vowel and a plural ending
Cute! It was only recently that I first heard of long haired wieners
i mean its plural sa4
Thank you Vshu
Hi all, 5 left, All M words
Thanks Inge

HI, inge, mi5/20 please :-)

the ing came in handy and my monkeys are getting smarter :-)
Just realized taht my icon is a clue for in 5/20
see you all tomorrow, happy babbling
Bye Peri
bye peri
Yes Inge it is. Happy St. Nicholas Day to you and your family. Not many have St. Nick around here. Our boys always thought that was cool.
Thank you Mom, though the kids are all elsewhere now
Ours are both in college but only one still lives at home. sniff sniff
Clue for the st6/30 please?
I have two getting late Masters degrees, one in Cleveland, the other in Las Vegas. Son works for Time Warner in Charlotte, NC, after getting laid off in AnnArbor two years ago
add a vowel to the st 5/18
ty
You have all yours spread out. I bet you miss them.
you're welcome
our boys are 18 and 22
yea, I could do with more actual presence and less cell phoning
I would imagine so.
will they all be home for Christmas
gee, ours are 31, 40 and 42. Boy do I feel old now
Oh don't feel old. Age is just a number.
They could be my siblings, I am 49
Cleveland will come, probably after Christmas. Las Vegas is planning to come after New Year becasue of plane scheduling problems
that will make Christmas last longer for you.
Are we hogging the chat??? Speak up, others.
Yes, join in
WE lived in Lexington, Ky when daughter was born in 1967
As I told my three children when someone mentioned age, "I don't do dates."
lol Cherrypop
I am still searching, no worries about hogging
Lexington is about an 1 1/2 away from us
it is beautiful country down there
WE used to hit Covington for the airport, to fly to NY. My parents lived in Ct
we are a stones throw from Cincinnati Ohio
I was born, raised and still live in Covington
What is the total score please?
You have been all over, haven't you
1783
ty
Well, less in the USA (I dont like hot and humid) more in Europe
Hot and humid is awful, I agree. My dad's parents came from Germany in the 1920's. Was your dad in the military the reason you lived in Germany?
My Lickety's list is complete with all the d words, yet my tile stats is showing I am missing a d and word stats hows I am missing 1 and my score is 1777. I have refreshed my page several times. Any suggestions please?
evening all! :)
no, both my parents emigrated from Germany in the 1920's, met in the USA, got married, and went back for a visit in 1938. We got stuck in Germany during WWII.
Biltong, I am at a loss for what to do. Refreshing has always helped me
You could ask Dr. God, whether you can do anything. Usually such errors get corrected by the next day.
your parents came the same time frame as my grandparents. You spent quite a few years there then.
Yes, it normally helps me too. How many d words do you have?
I have 12 of the 15
Biltong, I had the grid give me more credit than I deserved for certain words. I never had the stats say I was incomplete
Here is an idea. Type in all the d words once more, see whether it says that you did them already each time
Tried all that, thanks inge. Going to try once more.
I have 15 d words
6:00 here, I guess I should go fix myself some supper.
Batching it tonight, younger son is working and my sweetie is teaching.
bathroom break, back in a jiffy
Hope to be back to finish final 20. Inge was was nice talking with you
shem
woops
it was*
Back at the computer. Time says I too should fix dinner real soon
very, very weird. I deleted all the d's on my lickety's then retyped them all and it showed that I am missing de4/6. I now have fireworks, but I definitely entered the de4/6 in my word list and it previously showed on lickety's.
well, at least you got credit for all the words in the end
and congratulations to your fireworks!!!
help! need clues for the ad5 and 6, TIA
bilt, WTG!!
when you own up to soemthing, you ad*** that you did it, and plural
hard to ad5 it - but I just found those two too Book Doctor
yes. Just strange though, isn't it? I even called my hubby to check before I retyped, so I have proof, lol. I was beginning to doubt myself :)
thank you for the suggestions.
ahhhh, Cad, you are lifesaver. F * I * R * E * W * O * R * K * S * !
well done, Book!!!
:)

Those words are not in the Grid

that's what the monkeys are for!
i think it should take mo 5/16 with I N G on the end!! cuz we're all doing it.
Well, I REALLY need to go to the kitchen to invent something for supper
wiedersehn, inge!

I wasn't sure if I'd somehow entered the twilight zone of chat log suspension
I am about half way through the grid and getting a little stuck already, so I am searching
I know it was weird, apparently "where do you live" scares everyone from chatting
I'm down to my last 8 but haven't found anything in quite a whle
I have none of the A's, not a good sign
got one
you are actually going to ad* * * that in public?

Ti5= metal + curve letter + cross letter

My Hubz would think that was a feast to behold! (gag)
Thank you!!! FIREWORKS! I dedicate my display to mlk and idb!
running out of time, need to head home later taters
congrats kahlua!
you gotta love a crown roast of hot dogs right?
really difficult to describe, however, i can tell you that those who were not raised in this tradition do not look forward to the meal. ( i look forward to the meal) which i think must stem from difficult times.
could i please have a clue for the he 5/14?
and yay kahlua
does it consist of boiling meats?? cause that's a nasty tradition
no meats at all
Oh please help, 2 more, ti5/12 not the watch

nut, where did this traditional meal come from??
not a clue why - but that sounds delicious to me at the moment!! HA!
hmmm...eva...this sounds good to me...well, not a huge saurkraut fan, but the rest is definitely yumma
not sure where from, angela, no butter, everything minus the liquid
no spice
depends on how the potatoes are cooked.
potatoes cut up and cooked in a minimal amount of oil
what ethnic background? (it does sound like a strange combination)
hey evanonut... notice you are in "belarus" at the mo... been to latvia yet? :)
i could do without the lima beans but everything else sounds good...
no jen, just eyeing up a new tractor
Belarus is where my grandmother and Pam's grandmother came from

no, don't go to the dark side - stay and give clues!
gr6 please
40 left but can't keep the peepers open - night!
nat... even giving clues could be considered productive. ;) might as well just sit back, enjoy the chat, and all that the web has to offer. lol

it was.... intense the cool whip was very very strawberry but over all it was actually a pretty good combo :-)
hmmm, I will have to remember that one
my eyes hurt, i think i'll actually sleep tonight...so ya'll stay cool(whip)
Although it did detract from the enjoyment of the pure pumpkin flavor
night eva

anytime, pbar
hi woulf... i don't know why, but it's been running fast ever since I started playing a couple months ago
in 7 - anyone?
hey, pappa -- I noticed a couple of days ago when someone commented that the flip was early
add a vowel to the 6 beofre it
lovin spoonful...every time i hear that song it reminds me of sanding and varnishing our double garage doors in the middle of august one hot summer in the 60's
before*
I think that is my problem--with two in6's I'm not sure which I have, the first or the second...in(sec, mins, hours)...
change the vowel on that in... and then add back in the old vowel at the end
ahhhh ty ty ty
yw

Night all, have a good day tomorrow and hope to "see" you here!
G'night Nonnie -- dream well, dream deep
nite nonnie!
hello harp!
Does anyone have a clue for the ke with the double vowel. I missed it earlier.
hi harp
oe6?
sounds like another way to spell keys
put an o in front of the swollen foot e5, harp
ty nat, got it
ok, thanks!
not a problem, I like to be able to clue for once, I usually don't get to the grid in time to finish
me neither, nat!
I got a laptop yesterday, so I am thrilled to get on it :)
hello babblers!
hey fran
Hi Fran!
My big prob is that I usually am too tired to consider logging on after I get home from work these days. This week has been unusual in how much chatting I have been able to do :-)
hi nat! hi reese's!
Howdy Fran
hey wolfie!
what a nice christmassy wolf you have
I hear that woulfie, but laying on the couch while doing it is much easier
ty -- I found him last year and made sure to keep him
evening fran!
I don't have that option Nat -- no laptop and no prospect of one for a loong time
nice word Fran....christmassy. LOL
hi smooth!
it doesn't work in enable, but seems like a good word to me.
:)
another great pic smooth.
since when is enable the yardstick for proper language?! ;-D
lol thanks fran.
you're right wolfie, it shouldn't even matter that enable doesn't like it!
ok,i know i was only here for a short while but I'm beat, see you all later, and good night!!
night reese's!
Besides, most of the really fun words were created by people who needed something to describe how they felt
does that explain ho7/36?
No prob, Reese's -- take care, 'twas great meeting you
my favorite invented word is 'tintinabulation' from E. A. Poe's "The Bells"
that is a good one GW.
i'll be right back, baby announced she was done eating by dumping all her food on the floor.
thankfully Seb isn't to that stage yet, and Kristianna has outgrown it -- see you soon
well, things are kinda slowing down in here, if no one needs clues I am going to head out
I noticed that too, Nat - I am down to my last ten but seem to be doing pretty good -- have a great night! {Hugs}
night nat!
to7?
you can do it woulfie, those last ten will come, luck to all muahh
it wasn't too bad, pasta with peas and ham, not too messy
harp, action form of "kid"
actual def is the act of adding
what a great icon harp! who knew st. nick played the harp?
Well, he has to have a hobby to help fill the rest of the year, Fran
makes sense wolfie.
we took the kids to take a picture with santa claus yesterday. he gave every child a little stuffed toy. my son told him, "i don't want this, i want train tracks."
I was so hoping that the st6 was not going to work, but enable strikes again!
that was one of the funnier words today
LOL, Fran -- we are gonna be taking Kristianna to talk to Santa pretty soon here
harp, did you get the to7 or was my clue really bad?
And Fireworks!!!!
yay wolfie!!!!
Anyone got a hint for the se 7?
yes belated thanks fran, I'm only babbling during the commercials! (medium)
Fran -- were you on the other night when I was talking about Seb being a little monkey?
no problem harp!
no GW
sally, think of sewing
make the se4/5 an action word
Seb has decided that instead of walking, he wants to be a mountain climber
oh, that's right, i was here for part of the conversation.
TY. Terrific clueing. ;)
my 18-month old is starting to do that too.
We have a plastic chair that we got from Ikea which he decided to demonstrate with -- he climbed onto the seat with no prob, but then decided to climb over the back as well -- he landed right on the top of his head!!
oh no!
But Fran.... he is only eleven months right now!
He was fine -- as a matter of fact he was a happy bubbly laughing baby for the rest of the night
wow
pretty good motor development there
i wonder which takes more coordination, walking or climbing?
I would think walking since you have to maintain balance and don't have the support of what you are climbing to lean on
i don't remember when my daughter was able to get on the couch, just that one day she was up on the couch and i didn't put her there.
i'm sure that's true, but climbing gets a bigger reaction from mom & dad!
too true, but that's because climbing means that the safety zone for stuff just got smaller by a significant amount and the danger zone for baby increased by the same factor
yep, pretty soon you'll have to hide the car keys
I'm not too worried on that score -- I will consider it the challenge to the kids to figure out stick :-D
how many ing words are there?
i had a little cousin that got in his dad's pickup, started the car and had it lurch forward into a dryer that was in the carport. he was scared to death, never tried it again.
pork, i have 7
I had a similar experience -- I was playing in dad's car, pulled on the gear shift lever and popped the car into reverse -- if the door hadn't been open the car would have rolled across the street and into a neighbor's fence.
must have given you a good scare too. :-)
Instead it hit the fence post, wrenching the door. From that day on, the car had a very distinctive 'Squaoink" whenever we climbed in
I never played in the drivers seat again
And now I really need to go hopefully to bed, I have been up to see the flip way too many times this week
okay wolfie! have a good night!
Have a good night, Fran and everyone else {{{Hugs for all}}}
anyhing for e?
e1
chrn, there are 3 E words
emos
sorry, that was an accident, im new, and not sure how to post regarding which letter
no problem chrn, have to taken a look at angelsong's resource page in the links below the grid?
it has information on how we clue each other and where to get the two-letter clues also.
the 3 E words are ed5/14, em4/5 and em5/12
thanks for the link, wouldn't have found that.
like i said, no problem, welcome to babble!
mo6/24?
don't be mo**** harp, i know you're good at this
Fireworks!!!!!
or, today's crop of starlets are not very mo****
yay dr!!!!!!!
oh, THAT mo word! thanks
:-)

I have a new favorite word, st/6 30

hi all. I finished earlier. Anyone need clues?
YAY harp!
*looks around room* anybody home?
yep, chat just being slow
hi dc.
Hi Stidmama -- Last night we were chatting and I found out we may be neighbors (relatively speaking, anyway).
howdy, stid. mayhap you have a clue for the ed?
dcseain, swelling of the legs
hi Duff -- Thurston County?
duh. i'd monkeytyped all but that
ed: swollen legs from poor circulation.
the oe is the same...
hey stiddy!
That's right, Stid -- 5 minutes from the capital.
hi Tea! how's work so far?
oh the kids are just adorable!!!!!! *cootchy coo*
we are neighbors then!
Not too bad. We are doing practice returns and learning the computer system and it is all coming back to me. Thanks - that's the Christmas card this year!
I think tomorrow's going to be huge. we haven't had one for a while. I'd guess 427
Your folks are going to love the cards, then! :-)
Too bad if they don't ;)
I keep thinking we'll have a big one, but I keep being wrong... *grin*
I want something around 300 words. say, 324
I've got to get some presents wrapped, our play group has their Christmas party tomorrw. I'll be back for the flip - hopefully!
That's good to know. I'm fairly new at this and I'm afraid I have become quite addicted. It's nice to know that we are holding down this corner of the map together.
why wont it take amish?
Yes Duff, you are NOT alone! LOL
that's a proper noun, chrn
We live on the Thurston-Mason county line, btw. can look across the water at Mason County
Would you be looking at Shelton, then?
no, Shelton's several inlets away.
Are you a ferry-ride away?
LOL -- nope. mainland, Duff. you must be on the east side or in the south. I grew up on the west side of the county.
dc -- need any more clues?
i'm down to my last three, the 2 ad s and the ae
I live on the west-side of Olympia. Gotta get back to the grid -- only 20 minutes and 52 words left to go. Nice to meet you and I look forward to chatting more in the days ahead.
the ad: like saying you did something wrong?
ty
I can clue the ae if you want...
please, i'm a bit tired at this point :)
got it!
YAY dcseain!
oh, i'm short a t. not to figure out which
hi - 16 minutes and 9 words to find -- back in a bit
hi Jill!
Good morning all from what promises to be a very hot day - tons of work to do - maybe will not be able to do big grid - need 130 words or so
ty, stidmama
I have my icon and my movie, which is 100 minutes long, so I need a grid I can get done in that amount of time
hello ursh!
g'night, all. i must go take care of a couple things for a customer in China.
hi DRB!
greeting lovers of babble
good night dc!
Hi Stid - you well?
I am better today than yesterday -- had a nasty head cold. Looking forward to getting stuff accomplished tomorrow.
I could really go for some warm weather, though... trade you, ursh!
whew stid - it get up to 32 deg here but Durban is also humid which makes the 32 seem like 40
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
oh -- that's WAY hotter than we usually get... LOL
Hello Min! welcome to the grid!
Hi Min
