thats it, thank goodness! its just that cos the wound is between my shoulder blades, doing *anything* pokes it
most be painful, its bad enough getting an itch there, yet alone an operation..as you know too well lol
i hope you make a speedy recovery ata!!
and believe me, its itching!

yw ata...life is good hydra im moving next sunday, i start uni again on the 17th Sept life is looking up for me finally *smiles*....how is your boyfriend?
Are you moving far? Boyfriend getting better slowly. Thanks for askng!
So glad life is looking up for you. Did you get the email I sent a few days back?
where do you go to uni, pink?
no im moving to a place called hackney wick. Its near the olympic village that is being built for 2012 and Victoria Park, do you know it? How are you coping with it all?
I go to the University of East London in Stratford!
I nearly went to Queen Mary in Mile End :)
I've heard of hackney, but not Hackney Wick. Hope you;ll be very happy there.
I have never head of the Queen Mary Ata..why nearly?....Hydra it is very close to Bow and Stratford..its the nicest part of Hackney its quiet, residential and its a nice place to bring my baby up in. I did receive your email but i have been really busy with moving preparations and sort out various others, will reply and give the full 100 :)
Hi girls - and Pigeon
hey, lynxxx :-)
G'Day Lynxxx!!
its officially Queen Mary and Westfield, part of UCL. Well, I wanted to do marine biology, and QM had marine and freshwater biology degrees. I really liked it there until they said that fieldwork was done in the Thames ...
LOL, do fish even live in the Thames, its so dirty! That is enough to put any girl off...do you regret not going through with it?
exactly! I ended up going to Bangor and doing marine biology there which I adored. So that was fab. But I would have loved Queen Mary, I'm sure
Aloha Babblers!
Hi frannie!!!
aloha!
Hi Franny !
frannie!
hi une, lynxxx, pink, ata!
ata, do bad you couldn't do your fieldwork in Guam, our University had the best marine biology department.
marine biology... interesting! what does that consist of, other than the obvious?
I did a lot of PhD fieldwork in Australia and the Philippines. That made up for the Thames!
so what do you do now ata?
i wonder if the Thames is like our Ala Wai Canal? They dredged it 2 years ago and found a new species of blind shrimp that had evolved in the muck.
not a lot apart from the obvious really! Most marine biologists work either in fisheries or coastal ecology. I sort of veered off the normal career ladder and went and did my PhD in fossil fish, and I still work on fossil fishies now
sounds about right, Fran!
thames is in the grid. :-)
yes that wouldn't surprise me fran if they found blind fishes in the Thames
yeah, that shrimp was an ugly little thing
not edible i take it...in saying that who would eat it lol
here's a picture http://www.granneman.com/blog/ wp-content/shrimp.jpg
ugly little thing!
yep! :-) definitely not edible pink!
off the subject, but don't you think it's great we can talk to each other half way across the world and find pictures about the subject in an instant to share?
i just love technology
its wonderful!
its all too amazing isn't Fran - and even more so for an antique like me
aw lynxxx, your pineapple doesn't look a day over 3 days old, you don't seem ancient at all. :-)
TY
does anyone have the 2nd en7/28 please?
not I pink, only 97 words so far
thanks frannie
en7.28 is to beg or plead
(but may not be the second!)
thanks lynxxx! needed the last part of that too.
thanks lynxxx it was the second one :)
Just had to go away. Back now. Atalante, i went to Bangor too!!! I studied English there. Way before you, no doubt.
hi hydra!
Hi Fran. How's things?
you did, hydra?! isnt it a lovely place to study
just great hydra. :-)
It was a beautiful place. I did all my studying on Benllech beach. My sister went there after me and started mountain climbing. She still does it at the age of 57.
Glad things are good for you, Fran. I'm OK too.
I spent most of my time there walking up mountains too
...singing "the hills are alive....I can see it now
Oh yes!
Actually, I spent more of my time in the pub.
lolol
hydra, didn't know you had a blog. i just added you to my RSS feeds.
sounds familiar. but we lived in the pubs over in menai bridge rather than bangor
We went there sometimes. Most of the time, though, we were in the Castle, or another one, The Ship I think, where they had a folk club. I played guitar and sang.
My blog has been a bit depressing lately, Fran. I must liven it up! Have you got one?
was the Ffridd bar there when you were there? On the old Ffriddoedd site?
so I guess pr6.24 is Hydra's icon?
no I don't hydra, i just read tons of them. :-)
Ooh, I must look for that pr word now.
lick tv for fun kid stuff ;-)
where is Bangor?
hi lickety!
hey lickety!
north wales, up by anglesey
lick the TV !!!! that's kinda kinky isn't it Lickety?
Were you in a hall of residence, Atalante?
i thought so, the pubs name Ffriddeod gave it away!
I was in Rathbone for my first year, and then up on the new Ffridd site for my 3rd. For the second I lived in Menai Bridge
I was in Old Hall my first year, then digs, then Rathbone for my third. I did a ouija board session and got the hall visited by a ghost!!!
yay for Rathbone!
Just got the word, lynxxx. Very good :)
I think they'd just started marine biology when I was there in the Sixties. (That makes me feel SOOOOO old)
from Llangollen
Some of my family came from Llangollen.
its a huge department now, a really really good one
strange a lot of people from same area
i'm watching lickety tv in another tab.
I went back to Bangor for a reunion four years ago. *I'd forgotten how beautiful it was. I'm still in touch with friends I made there. I'm godmother to the daughter of one of them who now reads the news on Radio 5Live. Yes, strange coincidene, Alex
yes, its gorgeous, went there last year and almost cried. really wanted to be back there!
Did you go on to work in the marine area, Atalante?
whats bangor like for a uni? I'm at a stage now where I'm unsure of what to do in life
hi y'all. ca i get some help on the ad8 (and ad9)?
It was fantastic when I was there, Alex. It's probably even better now. It's got the lot. Academia mingled with outdoor pursuits, being by the mountains and sea.
its fab. small. lovely.
There are other colleges in Bangor too, so it's not too insular.
I did my PhD on fishies. dead fishies at the Natural History Museum (after doing most of my 3rd year on fishing and fishies at Bangor). Then continued working on dead fishies
When did you move to NZ?
i want to stay local so its between Aberwystwyth, Bangor and Chester
I didn't. I'm still in the UK. forgot I had NZ flag! But I lived in NZ on and off the years.
bangor then, alex!
I don't know if you're male or female, but if you like football, go to Aber, Alex
aber is best for teaching and arts I *think*
male, 20, football mad.
Oh, of course, you're in Canterbury UK, not NZ. I remember we emailed one another. Still havent been down to Whitstable area.
i just saw mrp on lickety tv, she looks great.
urf yes, Canterbury in both places!
The Aber football and rugby teams used to slaughter Bangor when I was there!
I'm interested more in natural studies, I want to do something involving nature, like conservation
bangor's good at hockey, but thats about it, I think
I've lived my entire life on a farm, close to the middle of no where.
My first boyfriend played hockey for Wales. I met him at bangor. *Memories*
Bangor has a big agriculture / forestry dept
Chester might be a bit citified for you. Bangor sounds the right place. Easy to escape into Nature.
thanks
I'll take a better look at their courses on offer
what do you do for a living Hydra?
Writer and book editor, Alex. Went into advertising as a copywriter, then was a local newspaper journalist, then rock music journo, then editor of a fiction magazine for IPC Mags
I don't think you'd regret it, Alex. You'd better like walking up and down steep hills though - hadn't he, Atalante?
I run up steep hills, having lived on a sheep farm
Calves like cast iron, then!
wish I had done English at A level, writing is nt something that appeals to me now, but didnt then.
You don't need training to write. You either have the talent or you don't.
thats very true
working in a rock music journo, must have been an enjoyable job
You can always polish up your grammar. That's one of the things I do for people when I critique their manuscript.
Music journo was best job in the world. The people I met! Don't start me. It was in the '70s and '80s. From Yes and Marc Bolan, to The Police.
oh yes. there's a big hill between the student union and the halls!
most people need a whole lot of polishing up their grammar
Even me on occasions, Alex
you met Marc Bolan??? O.O
You're right, Atalante. I got drunk, fell on that hill and sprained my ankle and it's never been the same since.
I think everyone in Bangor does that once or twice! Especially when its icy
It was summer!!! Dark, though. I think I was running away from the hockey playing BF after a row.
I had LUNCH with Marc, Atalante. He was magical. We talked about song lyrics. But his wife was there keeping a beady eye on proceedings.
does anyone have the in7/36?
wow. WOW
Think I'd better start writing my memoirs. They'd take up several volumes (LOL)
I'm just staring a pic based on some of his lyrics
do you think it would be a mistake to not go to University? and just try to find a job and hope destiny will take its course?
I think Uni teaches you more than the subject you're learning. It makes you grow up and become independent
I do think it would be a mistake not to go, if you can afford to carry that debt. If you don't want to be saddled with it, then try your luck at finding a job. Qualifications always help, though. I didn't get a very good degree as I didn't work hard, but it still helped me get jobs.
Wise words, Atalante
no pink, that's the one IN that i don't have. sorry.
thanks corpsvalue
Talking of work, I must go and do some. Bye, folks.
thanks for your advice

and relax, fish, drink, eat,....
Lucky you, how long are you there for, it must be really hot there now?
will be 10 days, 2 in transit, about 110 degrees F now, but no humidity. Hotter here in the south!
BBL
that is just unbearable heat, your driving it down?
see you, lynxxx
ttfn lynxxx
flying to Tucson, then driving down from there. Better half will meet the dad for first time (eek)
that should be interesting lol. I hated meeting my other half's mum, its got to be one of the most nerve wrecking moments of my life!
a friend of mine coined the new e-mail/chat abbr today: MIM = mentally in Mexico
I'm MIST... mentally in St Tropez...
i think they'll get along (hope), they're closer in age than he and I are!
lol, sherb
what is the age difference between you
kair
sorry...its not in the dictionary!
21 years (yes, I know)
nothing wrong with that!
doesn't seem to be, for us, anyway
pink, try another ka4
i monkeyed it shdy!
the monkey put it in the chat, then!
funny thing is i monkeyed the real one after seeing "kair"
so did i shdy
lol :)
this grid is beginning to suck!!
this is a very phantomy grid
I agree
very
in fact, now i see phantom!
me too, also
lol the phantom, phantom oh lordie!!
good morning, POTOS! and shdy!
People On The Other Side (of the Pond)
heehee, hi JB
43 As! ...that's too many for one grid...
shdy, you're up even earlier than me...
Hello JBs i was ready to ask what that meant!
as
only been up since 3, JB, (lol, news just said "across the pond")
I've been getting up earlier to play instead of staying up later, seems to be working except that I don't hardly finish grids anymore
Morning G&J!
Yikes, sherb, 43 As, really?
i like to get up about 4:30, can finish grid and sudoku before work, so can actually work at work!
Yeah, they blocked all game sites at work, so now I work at work too
oh, the horrors!
Well, it helps to cut down on hacker attacks, so I can't complain. A friend (at another city hospital here) had over half of her email wiped out due to a network attack
ok, JB, you have lots of cats - mine has this new thing....scabs on face (all between nose and eyes) and also on ears. What the heck is that?
nasty!
true !
No, shdy, just kidding - do you have other cats? if so, maybe thay are fighting/
mites!
*?*
no, but she just returned to being an outside cat recently, this started shortly after
Ah, yes, Dr. Atalante, I concur!
mites would certainly be my first guess, anyway
Mine don't go outside, shdy, so they don't have infestations of tiny bugs like fleas and mites
i put in a dog door for the other critters, therefore Fang also has freedom, but now she looks like He^&
i fancy a virtual holiday im going to choose another flag brb!
st tropez, pink?
fleas love the nose/mouth area, so could be
shdy, you typed the words right off my chatlog!
lol, jb!
shdy, to be sure, check with your vet. Mites can be overcome, but it's messy with oil in their ears. I've never needed to use flea collars on my kitties either
Bahamas Jbs im relaxing on the beach playing babble...wireless internet
Plenty of sunscreen, pink - you might lose track of time under the broiling tropical sun!
i can see the vet telling me to do something stupid (when Nico was about 6 months he had an abcess between his toes, vet said, with a straight face, to hold his foot in hot saltwater for 5 minutes, 3 times a day) Nico, at the time, was a 40+ pound puppy
nah, he'll just give you frontline incase of fleas, and a mite treatment. As JB said, mite treatment ain't much fun, but it works.
See, quality pet time! Did you get wet? <chuckle>
didn't even try, just laughed and took the antibiotic pills
lol very snesible
took them home, that is! lol
so now i can see him telling me to rub something on the cat's face...whatever!
shdy, we live in an old suburb of Philadelphia (very charming old houses and main street) and there is a cat vet in a tiny little cottage that we go to. They treat only cats, and (get this) there are FOUR vets!
bbl i ned a break!!
Actually, you rub the oil into the ears. How BIG is this cat, anyway?
C ya, pink!
right, jb, 3 to hold them and one to "treat" them!
LOL, shdy!
*need* i may return actually knowing how to type properly!
1 treating, 1 holding the front end, 1 holding the back end, 1 standing by with sedative in case
Coffee, pink, copious amounts of coffee
somewhere out there in cyberspace is "how to give a cat/dog a pill" Cat version is several pages and funny, dog version = wrap it in bacon
LOL Atl! Actually, our vet usually has an assistant in the exam room to help hold
how to give a cat a pill. don't. unless prepared for the consequences ....
I've seen that, shdy. Actually, I give Scrappy a couple of pills a day (he's becoming a categenarian, equivalent to human 70's-80's), and he tolerates it pretty well. The scars have pretty much healed...
exactly, ata, lmao
Fang got her name for a reason!
my old cat put my mum in hospital once while we were giving him a tablet. he shredded her wrist flailing around with claws and teeth!
while not fun, ata, that's not surprising!
Yikes, Ata! <wincing in sympathy>
my 3 large dogs are manageable, the cat does whatever the cat wants to do, whenever she wants to do it!
she looked like she'd tried to commit suicide for a god few weeks after!
Well, I'm up to 53 words, and just greyed out my first box (top i)
**jealous** only found one of the top i's (no clues, too early)
present and past te5, shdy!
i said no clues, jb!!!! lol, ty
oh, I thought you meant that there weren't clues because of few finishers!
no, just didn't want to go there yet! but already had the present/past
well then your I should be grey :)
present past i word?
My i's are green <groan>
cute, jb
*thwack* :)
<ducks>
Attack Kitty <who runs after the fish Ata just thwacked me with>
well, shdy, your cat might have mites, but at least it hasnt' got th5/14s!
gotcha, ata, ty
utterly random cluing there
shamen isnt allowed. wow
im back
my (much younger) little brother started at the Coast Guard Academy this summer (Swab summer). I've found pics online, and he looks so different in uniform and all grown up!
th5/14...still searching <hourglass in my brain turning very slowly>
wb, pink
Pink, is that sunscreen on you?
usually spelled shaman, isn't it?
oh. duh. yes. i knew something looked wronhg!
shdy, yes, first time I saw my lil' bro in Air Force uniform - he's a fine looking brother!
no not yet, i should put some on its getting quite hot
vrey wrhong, ata!
yeah yeah i can't trype today :)
Good morning, Atlantic.
ANOTher fish, Ata?
HI Haz
Hi everyone
I was 18 when he was born, not used to seeing him as an "adult"! He's 6'5" and in a military college! So strange!
{{{peri!}}}
that, for once, was deliberate :) Hi Haz! Hi Peri!
And everyone else, as well!
HI JB!!!
hi haz, peri
Morning, Hax!
Hey ho! This looks like a jolly grid.
hi everyone
thats one way of describing it
i wouldn't call it that, haz, but that's just personal preference
HI Chris
howdy Peri andHaz
Arrg, Haz, lots of phantom words today
going to sit on balcony for a bit
hi pink
be back in a bit
hi chris
Morning, Chris
People, people! The sun is shining, the grid has no k in it, what more could a body ask for?
c ya, peri

Wake up Haz - what's that letter in top left?
it sure does, haz!
hello everyone
hi peri , shdy8, jbs- i'm sat in the garden with the laptop, enjoying the sunshine
Hello Karys and Chris P
{{{Karys}}}
Good grief - somebody put that there behind my back!!!
and its raining here

OK, i've got my bubble tea icon but, man, this stuff looks and sounds disgusting!
vat ist bubble tea?
om4/5 + brit goodbye
ty une
it's our theme for today . . . tea plus (ready for this?) little floating balls of tapioca . . .
yw :-)
*blinks* why tapioca!
ack ack ack on the bubble tea. HATE tapioca.
what does that give to tea? *mindboggled(*
and IN TEA!
Starch.
google it, ata--apparently it started in Asia and is very very popular
wow. *googles*
Pfft. Crazy Asians. They'll eat or drink anything.
no. no no no no no
I agree, ata LOL
just give me tea
There's a place in town that serves it. I don't think it's very popular. My husband was repulsed by it as well.
I would try it. Once.
Finaly found the ta5/10 in the corner. One black box. zzzzzzzzzz
but I cannot see why tapioca balls would enhance the flavour of tea!
I don't think the tapioca is for flavour. I think it's just to create the illusion of bubbles. Is it tea or is it pudding? Blech. What's next? Cous-cous tea?
well just get a straw and blow bubbles into the tea! much easier :P
i think it's really tea . . . and the tapioca supposedly adds texture . . .
eeeewwwww
o
Part of the experience is an extra wide straw to drink it with, so one is sure to get the whole textural experience.
oh ... just lovely
gag . . .
ewwwwwwwww and ewwwwww Hi everyone
ewww
hey, mymuse :-0
feather! How's percy coming along?
not budging muse
whose choice of theme was this???!!
hi ya Une! Ugh that drink sounds awful
it says BryanC chose it . . . ?
well let me say congratulations now, coz I'm leaving for Florida tomorrow and not sure if my nephew will let me steal his laptop for some babble, but maybe just to say hello
;) thanks muse
have fun, mymuse!
thanks Une!
clue for fr 5/20
fr + vowel + abbreviation for doctor
ty
(doesn't look like a real word!)
yw :-)
well that's a silly word
And just what the heck is tapioca anyway? Is it a pasta? A grain? A bean?
white gummy tasteless stuff
actually usually used as a thickening agent I thought
tapioca is a pudding
it comes in a box of in little cups like jello
its made from cassava
Ah! Ata - finally a straight answer. So, it is from the cassava root then. Another reason not to eat it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapioca
Not exactly fear factor food. More like blah factor food.
"Purchased tapioca are small white spheres about 2mm in diameter (larger also available) that are made from reconstituted processed root. Now that sounds even more disgusting
Yeah. And who's the genius that came up with that process. Sounds like a lab accident - someone left the bunson burner on too long.
i love tapioca pudding with a bit of cream but in tea-not a chance lol
Eureka! Starch pellets! Let's make manky pudding with it!
*amused at the chat*
I think bubble tea (tea with tapioca balls) is really good. The balls have been cooked in sugar syrup and turn brownish-black. They taste and have the texture of gummy bears.
Wiki says tapioca in Britain refers to the pudding thickened with arrowroot, while Asia uses sap of the Sago palm -- interesting.
yay, grayed out a box
Indigestable!
apparently there are 2 different cassavas, one quite harmful to humans
lol Judi they even use it in Boba Milk Tea
Yes, I'm just going to run out and have some bubble tea and smoke my squid ink cigarettes...
well I certainly learned something new today!
Don't want to know what Boba Milk is.
Boba is another name for the tapioca balls. Milk refers to the tea - milk tea - meaning tea with milk or cream.
Hello - was reading chat - we referred to tapioca pudding as "frogs eggs" as kids - still cant eat the stuff
there's a picture of bubble tea with " black tapioca pearls" as they are being called
da 5/12 any clues?
Kelly, you seem to be the only one that likes it.
there is not a da5/12 majmom
Well, it can be unusual. Personally, I prefer vanilla ginger green with boba. In fact, I had some yesterday.
sorry da 5/14 1st one
majmom "the guy"
And I've even made it at home myself, just to see if I could. One can buy the tapioca pearls in a market with a good Asian food selection, and find the recipe online. It was a lot of work, and probably not worth the effort.
sorry majmom "the male" (not fawkes)

I'm determined to get this finished - I seem to have been at it in fits and starts. Anyway, greetings to all!

How's your wound?
I could be brave and say its fine, but it HURTS!
Hello Haz & Peri & others I've missed whilst searching.
so, i *thought* athame was a real word...is it not?
I'm sure it is! My sympathy.
Hello Judi.
I thought so too, Eva
athame sounds like a posh Scotsman's invitation to dinner.
at least Hobbit has a sore paw so doesnt want to do for mile long hikes at the moment!
Oh poor Hobbit as well! What a pair you must make, him hobbling, you with your hump removed.
lol yes!

Snack time. BBL to finish.
I will not look, I will not look, I will not look. Back when I've looked.
LOL :)
There, I had a quick look! My daughter rang from work yesterday (in Scotland) to say that there was a golden cocker spaniel puppy sitting outside..... As she put it, its ears were too big for its head.
awwwwwwww! golden cockers are just soooo gorgeous
I know. She was practically drooling down the phone, but so frustrated because she couldn't leave her post to go and make a fuss of the pup.
oh no! thats torture!
sp6/21 please
She just had to content herself with looking. She really misses having a dog around to play with.

Hi all. Just popped on while I wait for my boss to call. How go the vocabulary battles?
It's not the most common word.
hi shelley, slugging along
Hello Shelley. Battling on.
Read the chat - my niece is looking for homes for 2 cocker spaniel pups. Too bad none of you are close by.
I'd have them!
if I was anywhere nearby :(
Stop up Hobbit's ears.
Blindfold her.
she's snoring :)
That's all right then.
Boss calliing. See you later.

she doesn't look too happy!
Well. That was understated.
i can't believe her bridesmaids agreed to look like hot pink beachballs
one way to keep distance between bride and groom lol
LOL mymuse
perhaps her mom-in-law designed it?
last two at 5's?
I'm disappointed though - no Cinderella carriage, no horses with blue ostrich feathers.
LOL
They could ahve devoted 1/2 the program to her, I want to see the reception, study the guests attire etc etc
back in the log is a link to the hell dress, liz
They could devote a whole programme to it, entitled 'The wedding that taste forgot.'
http://www.bridalwave.tv/bride1catrion aandjohngallery_2-1.jpg

By the time she gets to school, there won't be enough room for her name tags on the coat peg.
LMAO yes!
LOL
Sewing on name tapes would be a considerable trouble.
the Dress weighed 20 stone, by the way
That's why the bride looked as one felled by a tree.
I just started - who are you talking about??
it cracks me up, they waited a couple weeks to name the baby to see what name she would look like and that's what they came up with.
how much is a stone?
14 pounds.
how many pounds or kilos?
16lb I think
Well the 50,000+ crystals sewn onto it would be some weight. 1 stone = 14 pounds
for all you poor people without ITV: http://www.heatworld.com/Article.aspx? articleid=1859&title=The+must-see+TV+e vent+of+the+week
thats a link to a clip of the helldress
good gravy, she's going to be stooped over for life.
16 ounces to a pound, 14 pounds to a stone. It was HEAVY.
Fran, LastFM tells me "no such group",,,,
She had to wear trainers rather than delicate shoes just so she could attempt to walk.
A good dose of Bailey's will soon have her right, Fran.
clue for in 7/32
I'm on dial up, don't think it'll play...
muse, make sure you don't put the period in.
poo. just imagine the most tasteless things you can imagine. it'll be about right
I capitulate! Cannot find my last word anywhere. Who will have mercy on me? it is se 5/10, right after the "has dispatched"
okay, the picture was bad enough, but seeing it/her in motion is just priceless.
Tastelss and then some.
Just add a vowel at the end, inge.
based on the way her guests and family are dressed, they filmed part of Moulin Rouge during the wedding i think.
add a vowel Inge
you can see why we were all fixed to the screen, fran!
thats a man, baby
OK, saw a picture. I'm renewing my vows next year and was wondering what to wear, have to get one of those!
Oh my gosh!! I just watched the video. Now I can understand what you are talking about!!!!!
oh yes, you must!
lol bunny!
It's given you ideas, hasn't it, bunny?
make sure you have video.
muse, did you get into the last.fm group page?
so if we imagine her and her entourage for any further tales of your travellers community, Haz, would we being imagining about right?
The travelling families here will have watched it in awe. They'll have taken notes, those that can write, and they'll do their best to emulate.
Definately, but I'll see if they make it in the bridesmaid pink they are wearing, two great combos in one.
Well wasn't that just something!!!
bunny, you better start working out now, that bride was not prepared for a 200 lb. dress.
You've got it, Atalante. I told you they love fuss!
Thanks FranMag. Got fireworks, I was going to skip the video. Should I look at it ?
I loved her getting into the car
you should inge, great entertainment for a Thursday evening.
Saw my scrawny arms did ya?
I am back, had no internet connection again!!!
hi peri!
That was great. You couldn't make it up.
OK I will go back to expert and see it
lol bunny
inge, the video we're talking about is not in babble expert.
watch *our* vid, inge :P
I'm back. That was soooooo funny... where they were trying to shove the outsized meringue with trainers into the limo.
http://www.heatworld.com/Article.aspx? articleid=1859&title=The+must-see+TV+ e vent+of+the+week
Lol the video is priceless! Push it in, push it in! and that was (blush) only for the dress rofl!
http://www.heatworld.com/Article.aspx? articleid=1859&title=The+must-see+TV+ e vent+of+the+week
oops, that's not going to work
...and the way she had to waddle down the aisle like a stuffed duck. Hardly elegant!
I thought they might just demolish the pews at either side to get it up.
ta7 please
the waddling was hilarious, definitely not elegant
Perhaps Haz could do a summary commentary for Nuttys next breadcast.
oooo interesting! http://www.heatworld.com/Article.aspx? articleid=1859&title=The+must-see+TV+e vent+of+the+week vent+of+the+week
thats better. ish. ignore the last line!

de 7 - in anguish or de + sounds like your extra tire
de + snake letter + a **** of shoes, jeans, panties, etc.
Her skin? That dewy Irish complexion?
lol haz!

Didn't know you could get that dewy look at a tanning salon
looks like she dipped her face in a spin art machine
didn't even see the pa 4 that goes with it, bunny
thanks bunny new word for me
thanks bunny new word for me
dewy Irish makeup plastering?
debjed, sounds like old west lawman without the H
and the breast part of her dress looked like two meringue pies
se 5/16 - sounds like county police
The make-up artist probably moonlights at the plastering.
en 7/32?
ok Fran trying LAst FM again
se5/16 is what you call the flourishes on fancy fonts
What you don't say after the en5/12 (en7/36)
muse, just make sure the period doesn't go in when you paste.
Well I am going to let my mind gently boggle away and head to the lad of no. Probably will have dreams about being attached by luminous pink beachballs or something!!
looool probably! good luck!
Lol, FMitch.
The lad of no? Eros not about?

None of them polite!

You wouldn't be appreciative...
You wouldn't say thanks, or the baby/Britsh version, two letters.
th***s haz and bunny!
You wouldn't say 'merci' but you might say 'mercy!'
good one jac!
I took Chopper and Fig Bat in for their shots today, they didn't cry, such big girls. So, I'm treating them and myself to dinner out tonight. Yay, no dishes!

is the beginning of the word like the en5?
Merci beaucoup, Fran.;)
Sorry - but glad you got it in the end.
Yes Steph, then add on "that wedding dress was very **cky"
Stephie - it's exactly the same, add the beginning two letters of what you don't like to pay to the IRS or Inland revenue here.

thanks bunny!
(And then had blue legs for days afterwards. LOL)
u 2 Jac...thanks!
Why wouldn't you just buy them in the size you needed?
bunny - Levis and Wranglers were sh**** to fit in those days. We wore 'em skin tight.
Oh, sounds...painful. I usually wear means jeans, don't like the style where your rear end crack sticks out that they have now.
*men's jeans
Hi, all. Jacula, I forgot about the Levi jeans. lol
We used to have to lie down and use a coathanger hook to pull the zips up, bunny!
hi jellen!
Painful if you slipped:(
Hi, Jellen.
I don't remember my Mom talking about that, but I know she had tons of those stone washed denims, yuck!
Ah, the old stone-washed jeans. Brill! *grins*

amazing how many more words you can find when you're not watching wedding dresses from hell.
ad 5/14, last, clue?
jellen, you have to see this: http://www.heatworld.com/Article.aspx? articleid=1859&title=The+must-see+TV+e vent+of+the+week
you'll have to paste each line in, but it's worth it!
jellen, don't know if it's the last, but do you have the guys that work on commercials?
Now I do! Going to check out link now.
I keep getting a message in the chat log that word cannot be added and to try again in a minute, very frustrating
looks like your connection isn't stable yet peri.
OMG. My wedding dress looked just like that! :^)
lol jellen, i bet it didn't weigh 280 lbs.!
Hi all! I've been babbling along and noticed my day is gone?? What in the world happens to time when you're enmeshed in the grid?
hi gramma, it's just one of those unexplainable phenomena
could I get the AD 7 word please? and hello everyone
No, but it was heavy. Just not so--wide!
Hi, mel
hi mel!
Even Jordan's dress wasn't so over the top as that one. http://www.peter-andre.net/pages/weddi ng.htm
ad 7 is something the doctor removes
but don't worry it's benign
ad7= Lemon*** + not yet + not pa
*not yes
jac, hers looks quite normal next to this one. :-)
Indeed it does, Fran!
Jordan's dress looks like it gave a little, as opposed to the ruffles of steel
and they probably didn't have to roll katie into the limo either!
katie=jordan, sorry
grrr the 9 is not cooperating, lol
Fran - Jordan (Katie Price) had that Cinderella coach thing for her wedding. Apparently, it can be hired for £20,000.
mel, add two letters (short goodbye) to the ad7
nothing but the best jac for them i'm sure jac.
oops, too many jacs in that post. :-)
hmm that is not workign either fran, lol
yay got it
thank you
cool mel!
Fran - How could there be 'too many' of ME? LOL
(Don't answer that!)
LOL
you know jac, i've never actually had a bubble tea, but the ones in your icon look really tasty.
Fran - I'd never even heard of it until I looked it up for the icon. Tapioca tea sounded yuk! They do look quite nice, though.
the tapioca is just the pearls at the bottom. the rest of it is basically a smoothie.
Yes, but, apparently you suck the pearls up with the rest through a straw.
they don't really have their own flavor, it's more of a textural thing.
BRB.
The texture would get to me, I think.
that's why i haven't had one, i've had the tapioca in other Filipino desserts and it's not something i want in my drink.
like jac said, they are pretty though.
I'll have to find a recipe and make one. Not sure if we can get black tapioca here, though. Having said that, I'm not keen on the texture of smoothies anyway.
I just have a vague recollection of tapioca, but it's in my do-not-request list.
lol
they also come clear jac, but the black ones make a better presentation i guess.
i'm sure you could find them in an Asian food market
I'm one of the few people who actually LIKE rice, tapioca and semolina puddings... but not in my drinks.
me too jac, i love tapioca and rice pudding.
I like rice pudding.
Maybe I give tapioca a try again someday.
*I'll (English is my first language, really)
there's that adventurous spirit jellen! :-)
i just went to the list and i'm missing a lot of easy ones! i think i babble better in the middle of the night.
I've only just found the Babble volcano! *sigh*
that's one of the ones i always overlook jac
me too
but i find words like om6/21 without the list
hey ata, i just shared the "dress" with jellen
Hi, Ata. Did you find the dress?
it was on some TV special the UK folks were watching, ata found the links for us "deprived" ones.
Is it to be the Babble dress? LOL
that gives me an idea for a theme, brb
It has to be talked about in hushed, reverential tones. Don't let impressionable daughters know about it.
I called my daughter and her b/f in to see it when it was on TV earlier, Haz. We were all in stitches.
Not The Dress ..... *gasps*
I could feel my mouth widening in horror/amazement etc.
*Fans, Ata*
I just cant get over a 20 stone wedding dress
She could hardly get anywhere either.
en 5/12 please
thats going to keep me amused for weeks
en5/12 - as dispensed when evacuation is necessary
what an image!
Don't think about it!
Haz - roflol. I've got the word but I was thinking about kiddies at train stations with labels tied to them for a moment there.
hi artlady!
Here I am, sleeping in the woods in my mother's screen house, with bats outside making noises and I'll have strange dreams of a huge white dress....
btw, hello, all!
Hi, artlady.
LOL, artlady.
Hi, artlady
hi artlady!
Poor little things - we were watching a programme about evacuees last night.
Neither of my sets of grandparents sent their children away in the War. My Dad was supposed to go but my Grandma changed her mind and rushed and rescued him at the last moment.
This was a local programme about children evacuated from Belfast - in most cases they settled down really well, and loved the country. I know it wasn't always the case, though.
No, not always.
an 5/12 clue, please?
an5/12 - add a poem of particular quality
ty, Haz
You're welcome.
an***+ poem
thx to Oprah's Dr. Oz for om 6/21. lol
airs
at6/21 anyone?
hi cat lady!

Thanks, Haz.
You're welcome.

Nothing involving en5/12
How about 'agnail', ata?
that would work!!!
knippi sounds like it could be a good word
I wanted 'mankip/s'. I see Paul taking those all the time!
David too
dogkip or catkip too!
'Mankip' IS a word then! I have decreed it. ;)
woooot!
definition: sleep taken when a man is meant to be doing DIY / watching sport / doing something the wife asked him to do
Pronounced man kip or manky pee?
Definitely, Ata.
man kip, Haz.
LOL
I hoped so.
oh poo. I'm still missing a 9! how did that happen!
Which do you have?
do you have the pr9 that means to reduce in size, in advance?
ad9/66
ad9
ends in sh6/33
oh I hate babble sometimes. I swear I added that pr9 hours ago
Ah, pr9. The one where I talked about jeans in the 70s.
ki 6/33 please
Which is really what should have been done to THE DRESS.
I *did* its in the memory of words that come up when I type in the box! Bad Babble!
past tense of ki4/8
OMG yes!
thank you
Haz, yes!
fr5/20 has to be a made-up word
we've had it before but it's just ridiculous . . .
It's German for foreign, if memory serves correctly.
it does
good, now i'll remember it
clue for in7/36 anyone?
in + ph5/14
Haz! Aren't you up rather late? {{{jacula! Une! Ata! Fran! (that's as far down in the log I've gotten..)}}}
ty ata!
hi JBs!
we're all recovering
Coming up to midnight? Sure the party's only starting.
hey, JB!
JBs - It's isn't midnight yet. Haz's pumpkin coach hasn't arrived!
It's 7pm in Philadelphia, party time
Of course, party time in my house involves dinner for the cats and the husband
mmmmm, pumpkin
JBs just ate your coach, Haz!
Ata, recovering from what? Overtyping? <giggle>
*collapses* who wants to explain?
LOL, Jac - you're right <urp>, I'm not hungry anymore!
http://www.heatworld.com/Article.aspx? articleid=1859&title=The+must-see+TV+e vent+of+the+week
the video speaks for itself
Troll attack? Abundance of children?
here it's no party, just HOT HOT HOT!! 103 right now at 6:00pm and no relief in sight for days and days . . .
It'll just have to be the streeeeeeeeeeetch limo.
200lb wedding dress... huge meringue... waddling bride... guests from 'Moulin Rouge' or 'Rocky Horror'....
ty! knew someone must have the link still!
Watch the video, JBs!

Well do4, Une!
YAY UNE!
Well done Une!

Bye Une.

Drink? DRINK! I'm married to a doctor, I've got PILLS!!!
I couldn't resist. I've changed my icon. REFRESH.
wooohoooooo! We have to have her as a theme one day
FM's right. The Donny Osmond bridesmaids are to die for.
Jac, is that one of the "hills" your bio refers to?
The mind boggles. Just boggles.
ata, i submitted "dream/nightmare wedding dresses" to babbler with a link to video for inspiration.
they really are
oh wonderful!
thank you
because you know it was her dream dress. :-/
could I have clues for the 9's please?
hey all! not here long, bathtime soon for daniel, but gotta say i've saved that link to check out later. can't wait to see, based on the reaction!
The sky must be a puce green in her world, ya think?
hi heather!
hi jean!
oh yes. though I think the reality was a little harder work than she expected
feather, you will laugh, you will cry, you will kiss your composure goodbye!
that's why i'm saving it, for when i'm not distracted!
and you'll probably wake Daniel up LOL
JBs - 'one of the hills'. ROFLOL
hya fran
ad9 is a benign tumor of certain glands (ad7) + short goodbye added. (** ** for now)
LOVE makin' you laugh, Jac!
ty fran
FM, did you finish the grid from this morning's chat? (I sill only have that one "i" box grayed out)
ty for the clue!
I shouldn't be laughing so much; it hurts as I have 2 stitches in the end of my nose between my nostrils. (Son says it looks like a fly has crashed into it and come to a sticky end!)
pr 9/90 please
oh, that's right, Jac, <soft chuckle> I'll behave, mostly!
You don't realise how much you move and/or touch your nose until it hurts.:(
owie, Jac!
Jac, reminds me of the joke: "Doc, it hurts when I do this."
Doc: "Don't do that."
Ata - the needle in the tip of my nose to numb it hurt more - hurt like hell, in fact. Surgeon said it would. Said the tip of the nose if one of the most sensitive areas of the body.
*is one of the
So, let me get this right - Atalante has had a boob removed from her back and Jacula has had a nose job? Babble is keeping plastic surgeons busy this week.
I am back again after being disconnected from the internet yet again. Hope I can stay connected to finsih
And a medical grid today to boot!
Haz - I had a 'suspicious lump' removed.
hi al...ta7/36 please?
ouch, I can imagine! Poor Jac :(
Nasty - hope it heals up nicely, Jacula.
ditto here, Jac
Heal well, Jac!
Hello Flask - ta7 - ta, what you do to pulverise spuds (four letters) finish off with a vowel.
Gotta go, it's Thai noodles with chicken and peanuts for dinner - but I'm cooking it. Hubby did the prep work!
bye JB!
Happy eating!
pr 9/90 please
Surgeon said, as soon as he cut into it that he was positive it was a benign naevus. Result will be through in 3 weeks. I'd have been more worried if he'd said nothing. I'm sure it's okay.
TY, Haz, I got the word, but it's not really a word, is it? BBL, C ya soon!
ty haz....ta5/10 please...the LAST one?
It's always reassuring to get the all clear.
'Bye, JBs.
ta5/10 - add the Blackstuff (roadwise)
ty haz!
You're welcome.
Haz - Looks like I'll end up with this... :l: on the end of my schnoz. You'll be able to play noughts and crosses on it. LOL
Right, I'd better dive back into the grid now (wearing a waterproof nose cover, of course).
se 6/18?
Happy diving!
se6 - Congress has 2 houses
se6/18 - a branch of government

MIchael Jackson emerged from the wedding cake.
200 lb wedding cake ... yeah, thats more likely than the truth!
de5/14, first?
He didn't really, but after seeing the wedding, anything would be possible.
who's wedding was it?
Nut - watch the video.
de5/14 - to remind you of mortality
she looked miserable in the limo
de 5/14 de + the end of lit cigarette
Sorry - take the mortality back one in the alphabet, fourth letter
can't jac...trying to keep down the extras to get this thing to upload
I thought that if she'd been grey and red, rather than white, she'd looked like a turkey cock.
heather, was that before or after they had to roll and squeeze her in?
ty, bichon and Haz
She had to walk like a penguin! that's crazy
I'll let Haz explain about the wedding then nut. You can watch the video later.
lol, after fran
You're welcome.
lickety, the file didn't shrink and its snot uploading
Hi ALL!
hi stid!
lickety - I thought she walked like a stuffed duck, but a penguin with an egg in tow would also be a good description.
hi, stid!
hi stiddy
The bride was from a family of Irish travellers. They like their ceremonies to be as over the top as possible, so no expense spared, no taste permitted.
feather, you are not supposed to be here!
he stiddy
Hi, stid.
I had percy's birthday already penciled in my calendar for 9 Aug next year!!!!!
Hi Stid
ta 7/36 please
*Dives back into grid.*
mel, ta + **** potatoes or monster **** + vowel
Will i offend anyone if i comment on that clip
how tough is it today? I don't have much energy -- if I start with the list can I get 100 pretty fast?

HI stid!!
i did go for a mile walk tonight, we'll see if that helps
evenin all, can I get a clue for the de8?

Hi Fran and Jellen
I was going to say so thats what happens when trailer trash gets money and combines no taste. shudder

Hi, LBD
Our Prime minister has lost the plot. They want to spend a crap load of cash to create a filter to weed out bad language and porn on the net. I am sorry but if i was a parent then its MY job to use an ounce of sense on the issue. Considering this money could go towards better facilitating schools

Irish Travellers (sometimes known as Tinkers) are a nomadic or itinerant people of Irish origin living in Ireland, Great Britain and the United States. It is estimated 25,000 Travellers live in Ireland, 15,000 in Great Britain and 7,000 in the United States [1]. They refer to themselves as The Pavees. Many non-Pavee people (or "Buffers") still use the word Knackers, or Tinkers [2] (derogatory, in this sense), from the Irish tincéirÃ, sg. tincéir or "tinsmith."
Go Jacula go
gotta love my dad, the researcher for us!

gotcha, herin... found it and now know why....
Hi everyone. Work has quietened down, so I'm going to do a little light babbling!
Pam think RedNeck with cash to splash
hi, liz
Having said that, I did watch the 1st of the Britain's Teen Mums programme or whatever it's called. Series is still on, I th5.
nor me, but I saw the first few seconds and saw The Dress and was transfixed
Hi Liz. Have you seen THAT DRESS yet? (It was on ITV earlier) If not, check out my profile.
Jac How young are these brides on this show?
they were between 15 and 18
Youngest was an Asian girl who was engaged at 10 and married at 16. 16 is the youngest age anyone can be wed here with parental consent.
That im sorry is wrong wrong and more wrong
Tell us about it, herin. LOL
sorry, couldnt remember if she was 15 or 16
Can i just hide under the couch. Thats scary.
what shall we bet that most won't be married in 2 years?
I keep think Brittany Spears is the poster child for Chav
The Pakistani girl's parents didn't see it as wrong, Herin. In their culture, girls are not allowed to have boyfriends. They realise that by the time a girl reaches her teens she wants such things and so they find her a suitable husband. Quite often, they are right with their choice, but not always, and she does have the option to say 'no', in enlightened families anyay.
can anyone help me out with any ad's? i cant even get one of them...
and actually, she seems the most well adjusted of the lot of them
They find her a husband to be and then marry them off, if they seem to get on after several meetings. They marry in Pakistan at about 14 and then officially marry and life together in UK 2 years' after that.
Thats all well and good but my problem with that is the honour killings and acid burning the female that refuses to marry 'the chosen' partner
last ha5/14 any clues?
majmom, plural the ha4.6
lovejoy. lemon***+not yes + not pa
I have a Hindu friend who this didn't work out for... she said 'No' to every man presented until she was 25 and then her parents got desperate. (She had UK b'fs they had no idea about). However, she eventually agreed to about the 10th guy offered up and it turned out a disaster. Not only did he cheat on her and their 2 children but he also plotted to murder her. She is now, after many truly horrible court battles against him and his horrible family(and I do know this is true because I've been a character witness for her) finally divorced and has custody of her children so he can't spirit them away to India. her family, much humbled by this experience, look after her and look out for her far better now.
i think thats the 1st ha 5/14
no the first one is an anagram of the last one
glad that she had the wherewithal to fight back, jac
sorry dont have that 4/6yet
I really want to do this grid, but my head is telling me otherwise...
Good for her for fighting back. In a way we play match maker to our friends but my peeve is that woman are seen as property not people
It's just as well, as my friend said, that she is not so traditional as her Mum (who is ony 8 years' older than me) that she carries the dagger at her waist. If she was...
very interesting, jac. Why do so many people go to Rome and refuse to do as the Romans do?
majmom, ha + **, myself and i
tx ibdawger
pam - she knew she had her UK friends behind her on that and, more importantly, the support rather than condemnation of her family.
hi all!
in her culture, it's the latter that is the more unusual
Jacula, thank you for sharing "that dress". my gracious..what were they thinking??? That girl doesn't even look remotely happy. sigh. hope everyone is well today!
Exactly, pam. I was so relieved when they also came through for her. Mind you, as a friend also of her mother, I'd been doing my bit on that front!
They come to Rome and create their own ghetto--emotionally as well as physically if they can, circe
Hi, circe
OK, even I have now found out what you guys have been talking about all day long. Thanks Jacula for the link
circe - LOL. Yes.

Oh good sometimes i change my icon to suit my mood. Right now the mood is Trees forest and away from civilization
Bye for now, jilli.x
Opps i was looking the wrong way for the EN
That's fine, herin. I sometimes go with the thoughts of Edward Monckton.
That dress is still scarying me
ir 4/5-i think i tried all the combos but no cigar-so any clues?
Back to the grid now... still 11 to find and I have another busy day in a few hours.:( EEK!
Is this the first wedding dress that has caused global nightmares? If so, she could probably hire it out in about and hour or two for thousands of pouns/euros/dollars whatever.
I just found out my friend has 19 piercings my mind is boggling as to were. Yes and i like that idea Jac
ir4/5 = annoyed or made cross.
both ir 4s are angry
Back to my esses and tees now.

i am sorry about those trolls, jac, i guess i am a troll magnet :(
Jac, was it you I chatted to before about the wonderful Edward Monkton? He has a great take on the world.
Fireworks and the Cubbies just scored 2 more runs. Life is good! 'Night all!
ta6/21, ta 5/18... plz?
Madi just tell them (your friends) to have manners. If they need to see how others behave show them the chat.
Okay, Madi. Leeway for now. I still have 5 words to find and, to be fair, you as yourself are always fine.
Now im off ^- -^
i am a bad girl. "to the dungeon with me" *throws self into dungeon and fastens shackles*
Liz - Yes! I had his new toast revenge thingey as my icon the other night.
bye herin.
'Night, Herin.
labecs, plural the one who calms wild things
Trouble is some of them the text is too small to read and you really need to read it to appreciate the humour, don't you.
what's wrong madi???
ta5.18, color the sun turns skin + **ngaroo
thanks lb
i am a troll magnet, and now i have locked myself in a dungeon cell
I'm almost there.... I did 200 on my own! yeah!
Madi, i don't think you intentionally bring in the troll.s i think maybe they see what fun you have and try to emulate you, not being as savvy to the game they become trolls.
go labecs!
well madi, that's a selling point with me
need 1 of last 2 ma5/12`s-any clues-
ok lbd
madi, they are the trolls, not you. you are a bright, pleasant young person to be around.
Down to 4 't' words now.
th5/20 you doxy
oh now doxy, don't go too far. she is a pirate after all...and we buccaneers can't be too bright.
Well, Jacula, I watched the video. The dress is.... I'm speechless!
*takes off eyepatch hoping no one notices*
yw madi
Hi, 'nut. I finished Seven Up. I had read it before. Off to 8! (when I get to the library)
*snaps eye patch back on madi* - arrrr matey, be not ashamed of your skulduggery ways.
I work with trolls all day long--most are lovable!
what fun artlady!
oh, sorry about that nut
arrrrgh
artlady - I'm so glad it made both (reserve they say) UK folks speechless AND (the not so reserve re puting on a show USA folks) also speechless. Common ground.
Yes, the guests were bizarre also!
besides Madi, without trolls what would be whine and complain about? lol
I can't believe she actually agreed to wear that thing
Or paid for it
If Artlady is an art therapist - she works with trolls all day and sees the amazing art work and writing that they come up with.
No, art teacher...although there is always therapy involved (often for me!)
oh oh oh doxy, you are forgetting my bandana. *he he he!*
The best art room I ever saw was the one in the school attache to the clinic my daughter was in. It was the most honest and raw artwork I'd ever seen and so was the work in the English room.
ai5/12?
Well, I can't get into my room to set it up yet. They're doing construction (new windows) and not finished yet....yikes! We start in a week and a half.
artlady - what ages do you teach? Mind you, that probably doesn't really matter.
4 words left now... tees.
a television show is ai***...like the one with the dress!
thanks artlady
I teach 2nd through 5th grade. Many of the teachers use Babble with their classes, for vocabulary.
Go Jac!
and that's more than likely where a lot of the trolls come from
my language arts teacher used babble for us 5th graders.
If I do ever decide to go back into the 'proper paid' work world from writing, then I'd go into artr or English therapy. It's heartbreaking, in7/32 ing and fascinating.
Yes. There was a big problem last year with them. I talked to the teachers about it and most of the students learned better Babble behavior.
Hmmm, madi?
sorry!
Good one, Jac!
Sorry??
i am still in shackles in the babble dungeon
I heard there's an escape tunnel in the corner. Just move the second brick over.
Had the term'criminal profiler' like 'Cracker' (UK TV series) been defined when I was at the start of wondering what to do with my life.... I'd have gone for that. I'm not saying the kids in the clinic wwere criminals, btw. I'm going off on another track now re my interests.
I am back, had to go quickly, could I get a clue for ad7, please?
Good luck all. Back to the Cubs game!!
go 'stros!
*moves brick and escapes with shackles and chain still on ankles*
yay!!
ad7,8,9 - benign tumor
*hands madi a hacksaw with diamond blade*
lemon***+ not yes+ not pa
bother. why don't i think more.
*frees feet and hands tool back to doxy*
I think my true interest lies in trying to work out ad define those that were 'normal' until life screwed them up.' What happened then? What were they thinking and why?
