thanks!
BBL

ty fran

might have gone faster later in the day with more clues floatin in the ether, but 1:35 isn't bad for at 172 at the flip
used to be 100wd/hr rule of thumb but i think now i've gotten faster. i love improving at things.
hursh, i'm missing a 7, can you GWFIM?
crap I do 1 every ten minutes...
for me, finishing without lickety is a big deal!
there are 3 to7 did you get them all?
re, se, st x 3, to x 3, wa
es7
yep, have 3 of them
really freep? from observing tonight i would think it wouldn't be so hard for you on this size grid or smaller, unless they were jerky grids
es7 - legalish word
thanks freep and hursh!
ty, hurshy, i was missing that one
yeah, hursh. i find that there's a ton of words I just never think of monkeying, still. haven't seen 'em enough yet, maybe. Or just don't know 'em
how many points? not clicking
28
I get pretty far... but usually not quite far enough to just get answers in chat
freep, i've been on here 2 years, and have only gotten ot the point of monkeying things meaningfully.
es7/28
thanks!
how long you been babbling freep?
i'm still not seeing 2 of the to7s. i have candies.
hot drinks
and... um... like a warty amphipian, past tense
oh, that S
ty, hurshy
lol dc
fran, i was trying that word - thought it should be there - but not seeing how to make it work. :">
I have es 7, se 7, st 7 X2, to 7 x3, wa 7
what am I missing... I got a second wind
i've been getting better about falling into set patterns after finding one, but still have unlearning to do there.
hello again babblers
sometimes i don't even bother trying to figure out how the word is there.
hi hk!
re7 prepared
for those who like it - Refresh Clues now. Enjoy the grid
i was just shutting off the computer, thought i would see how big the grid was & thought i would get a little head start
ty Lickety
st7 pl of st6 like boy's name but double the vowel.
just in time lickety! thanks!
hiya fran
tnx lickety
xanika, how are you?
thx, lickety!
well thanks dc
once work gets out and the couches are all soft, then people begin to babble and it's nothing but words words words all the time!
you?
hi xanika
Hi FM
hi lickety! thanks
i'm alrgiht. my sleeps all wack, but what did i expect working nights. :)
no feather to appreciate that... :(
someone tell my cats that there's more to life than being really really incredibly good looking
well, there's begging for food, and demanding attention.
mitten knows about the first one, it's true, and marty knows about the second
cinder knows the second one too i guess
marty just does it MORE
but, i was just channeling zoolander, that's all.
what starts the 8
my younger one wants attention when she wants it. Older one is cuddlier, and if he asks for attention, usually, that means he watns groomed.
st8
hmmmmm
you did it to the helm when you were ve4ing a bit off course
you did it to yourself so you did not lose your balance and fall off the beam
got it
ty
thanks hursh!
st7?
night alllllll
well methinks its bedtime for hurshy
ty hursh and hi all!
hurshy just clued it dc
morning, MVA
g'night hurshy
thanks and congrat hursh
other two st7s to do with plane shooting people on ground
niters hursh
that was st8, unless i missed it
i clued st7 a little further down
look before that
that means nothing to me
night hursh!
i saw that earlier
pl of st6 boy's name with extra vowel
kind of like the weirdo in Jackass
huh?
what's Jackass?
oh well the plane shooting st7s rhyme with not in danger
just stick in more letters.
dc have you been in a cave?
well, i've not had TV in 3 years
oh that splains it
that is ironic. if you are the target of a st6, you are not ... not in danger.
the 7's are person who and past tense.
huh. that word i've never come across before
ty
watch star trek original series episode "shore leave" sometime dc :) :) :)
ok, night for real now. ttfn all.
even with TV, i was known for my pop-culture cluelesseness :)
ty again, hurshy, pleasant dreams
nite hursh
lol
made it to 100
vff dc
good nite everyone
we all have our large blindspots, that's one of mine. :)
g'night, HK, sleep well
nite helen
night hk!
mine is primarily around yiddish words for villages and etc
mine is primarily around yiddish words for villages and etc
lol
shtetels not part of your world then. :)
yep... although I do know a few yiddish words.. I may not spell them correctly, but I know what they mean
great-grandpa would speak western yiddish, but not german in the years i knew him. Apparently he stopped speaking German in 1938, when he left germany.
with the whole misbutkah or by himself
he and his sister only. the others all thought it would be all right. As it turned out, that was not the case for those who stayed.
oh holy cow
they were far from the only family of jews to die in those years. not to sound crass, just speaking truth.
his sister moved to Tel Aviv in 1944. I suppose she may have descendents there. The stopped speaking when she moved, as he was vehemently anti-israel for reasons he never did express very clearly.
I just saw the King of Scotland and I can't imagine the kind of people who can just kill and kill and kill innocent people... It boggles my mind..
yeah. it's i'm glad to have grown up such that it's hard to comprehend. Were it not for great-grandpa, it might be totally foreign to me.
that is a bit unusual dont' you think?
what's that?
being anti israel and being a jew?
not as uncommon as you'd think, at least among secular, reform, and reconstructionist people. Part of his reasoning was 'why would i want to move to a desert that i and my ancesetors may never have lived in'.
i'm not saying it's common, but it's not unheard of. My friend's parents - holocaust survivors - also are anti-israel.
maybe it's a German thing of that generation. Don't know.
could be
there's another survivor who is cantor at my friend's temple. i'll ask her sometime if he's ever spoken about that.
Can someone clue the second to7?
hot to7
a hot drink
All I can think is hot tomale
must say, it's been my night for heavy topics here in the log.
aw crap. thank you :-)
no kidding
mediciny alcholic drink
Hi Pigeon - a christmas drink into which a hot poker is plunged
that is a very traditional preparation i've never seen, lynxxx
very interesting tho dc
wb lynxxx! do they really do that?
hi mva!
Yeah lynx. Feel like i just got hot pokered.
i'm going to guess that jackass is some MTV thing, based on the name?
Is that even a sentence?
hi fran
tradionally yes
yeah ... just a bunch of goof balls running off cliffs, buildings, etc
Hi MVA
as in freerunners, or just straight-up idiots?
hi lynxxx
I will go with the latter
never heard of jackass
:)
just as well, i'm guess, MVA
hello babblers. just back from one really intense movie
welcome to one very intense chat, bb! :D
Hi bbnaz - and that was?
morning all
No Country for Old Men
hi bb and sprite!
the latest Coen Brothers movie
Hi Sprite!!
good morning, sprite! :D
hi sprite!
and do you recommend bbnaz?
yay, I like the toothbrushes :D
i'm not chatting because i'm getting some music together for hubby's gig tomorrow
i've heard it's great bb and javier bardem is the hotness
It is a very graphic violent film but not gratuitous if that makes any sense.
hubby's a musician or dj?
oh wow Fran, good luck! I was playing my move on our game in Scrabulous and then the servers went down :(
yes it does, bb
Beautifully filmed, excellent acting and an incredible story line
dj dc, he wishes he could sing, but i have dissuade him from doing it at every turn
lol :D
LOLLLL Fran
lol!!
oh, right, they said they'd be down part of tonught for maintenanc.
I'll look out for it bbnaz - TY
i have to admire his determination, i've told him for 6 years that he can't sing and he still doesn't believe me.
I cannot handle violence, so I think I better let this one pass... sounds like a real shame to miss though.
can't be worse to hear than my friend Crystal. What she lacks in talent, she makes up for in gusto and volume. so we all politiely ignore it, as she likes to sing.
i guess we all know someone like that dc! :-)
poor Crystal... poor friends ;)
just hid all the mikes from them both
sprite, if the 3 scrabulous games i have gouing, yours is the only one, so far, i'm getting any consonants in. :)
It is based on a book by Cormac McCarthy here is the link: http://www.nocountryforoldmen.co m/
lol dc, so that is where my vowels went!
i can't lynxxx, he owns them all!!
i'll hear crystaly next saturday at the Xmas carolling after the Hallelujah Chorus :)
one game, i currentl have auaiaup in my rack LOL
dc, here, grab this *hands dc some consonants under the table*
reminds me of my former boss, she loved to sing and convinced a band at happy hour to let her sing with them
lol dc, that sounds almost hawaiian!
*passes some vowels back at sprite*
and since then she is your 'former' boss, Fran?
yay, thanks dc :)
apparently, they knew her reputation, they turned her mic off and the lead singer sang from behind the speakers....
she thought she did so well!
yes, i suppose i could make a polynesian word of it.
oh, what a smart band. what did she think of that, or did she notice.
omg... so now she thinks she can really sing, Fran!
well, she always did sprite, that just reinforced it. :-)
did she ever find out?
she didn't even notice!
how wonderful!!
oy!
lol, that is great. Kinda.
lol, she's now the first lady of Guam, her husband is the Governor. :-)
good for her. poor visiting dignataries.
you know it dc!
I can see her now " yes, me, me, yes I'll make a speech" and then bursting into song
is wa6/48 related to 6/51?
same base word dc
lynxxx, do you know her?
it sounds like you've met her already. :-)
bit like my husband too - loves 'entertaining'
okay, have to switch computers to get the music on hubby's system, i'll be back in a bit!
ciao, fran
Good morning everyone.

enjoy breakfast, MVA
njoy, mva
Hi Mari
is this a tough grid or am I blind to the obvious?
some of both today, i think
Its easy when you get them Sprite - quite a number of 'silly' words - like tw6.39
but for a very few today, at least 1 or 2 of the to7s have needed cluing.
I am not even totally halfway and already slowing down
yay, thanks for those pointers :)
my first 106 went easily enough, the rest, not so much. i have 25 left now.
i'm looking for re7 now.
ok, then I am being blind at least for a part, I need still a lot more than you!
yes, but i started well befor you, and work slower :)
hehehe, funny how you guys always manage to make me feel better :D
do you want a clue DC?
yes, pls, as it seems not to stem from the 5 before it. :)
I'll give u one anyway - starts with a re4 but has a totally different meaning
ohhhh that tw is a babblet! Double for the price of single, isn't it?
yes, or bogo, as it's come to be called over here.
you always astound me Sprite with your understanding of english!
lynxxx, when you grow up multilingual, it's easier.
I have a good memory for words that have driven me insane once, lynxxx, LOL! This one had me up the curtains for ages!
and dc is right
dc... bogo as in bothgo?
buy one, get one [free]
it's an acronym
even better, I love acronyms
thanks, dc :)
but has entered the vernacular thanks to a thorough ad campaign on the part of Payless Shoes.
it's caught on, at least here in the NE US.
I like it
found the re 7 :)
and did I get it right that there are 2x to7?
3x to7
one of which was obvious to nearly everyone
the sweets one, I bet
yep! :D
my son is standing next to me and is trying to help find them
he says hello to you
one, i'm confident he's not likely to know, though i know you do. And a hello back at him :)
If he can find the slimy creature, you could get another 7
(the slimy creature is to4)
he did! now for the 7
yay!!! its a creepy-type flatterer
he found one of them!
not so much a flatterer as flattery - sorry to mislead
and I found the last... and yes dc, I know that one, but he is not yet supposed to know!
playing with my son is fun! :D
i was given them on occasion when sick from about the age of 6
he could probably find the re7.36 - same 'rules' as the to7
with or without booze in it? I thought they were always alcoholic?
hi everyone!
hi everyone!
morning, bubblepop!
Hi Bubble
morning morning, bubblepop bubblepop ;)
oops oops
oops oops
w/booze, that's the medicinal part
LOL!
i always like tootsiepops better than bubblepops, myself.
ah, that is what I thought, dc. We do not give kids any alcohol, preferably. We keep it all to ourselves :)
tootsiepops sounds great too
lol Sprite
my family started me on wine at about5 - just enogh in my water to colour it a bit, and through the years, the proportions changed until was 14, at which point full-strength with meals.
bubble, what a lovely icon you have!
thankyou, i like yours aswell!
well dc, we can safely say that it has not influenced your intelligence in any way!
might be off - I shouldn't have had my medicinal drink in this heat - nearly asleep. See you all later, say goodbye to Fran for me if she reappears
g'night lynxxx, good sleep, and will do. :)
see ya lynxxx
night lynxxx, sleep it off and enjoy it. Will say hi to Fran for you. *hug*
i may get food in the morning when i'm off, i'm rather peckish.
oh, wow. it's quarter after 4 already! how'd that happen.
how many people are still on?
lolllll dc
go to bed, you sleepless in seattle monster!
i'm at work :)
I am not really on, just pretending, bubble... should be doing things with son and hubby and think I will go see to them pretty soon.
108 online, how many active, who knows
argh! Lol dc... forget what I said.
lol
sprite, can i have another coffee?
there are unsmiling faces, in ******S and chains... on a wheel in perpetual motion....
i'm off work at 13 your time, 12 bubble's, sprite, then have 12 hours off before i come back.
and this time lay off the fish
I sometimes forget that you work weekends too, dc! Sorry. Better stay awake a little longer then and enjoy the fact that time flies when you are having babble.
*pours bubble a nice cuppa*
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........
thankyou
sshhlluurrrrp
indeed sprite!
yw :)
are the z words really obvious?
heh a friend wore an fe4 at halloween, very nice costume he had, full-out Moroccan in traditional mountain garb.
yes, bubble
ohhhhhhhhh
at least, if you know kitchen implements :)
im an 11 year old, kitchem implements.... not my thing
i got two z words only one is a type of soap thats popular
oh i better get going
I have one so far, bubble. And if you are old enough for coffee, you are old enough to help in the kitchen!
ze4 x2 ze6 x1, derived from a 6
ciao, bubble
heeheee
bye evryone
and thanks dc
bye bubble
a 6 derived from a 6?
6 derived from a 4
sigh. you know what i mean :)
oh, ok, sorry :)
yes, ty, reaper. how are you today
nah, in my opinion you are so doggone smart, dc, that I never think you make a mistake, just that I am being stupid :)
im ok just got in from a good night out how is you. and how is everyone
and hi dareaper
i'm tired.
glad you have a good time, dareaper!
huh. that word isn't just an acronym. not being a herpetologist i'd no clue.
i work to hard not to have some fun on the weekends
having fun is important
fireworks
yes, fun and socializing are important
well done Xanixa
congrats, Xanika, well done!
ok guys im going to hit the hay i got like 30 words and i dont know how so ill finish the rest off tomorrow i guess before work so good night everyone and enjoy babbling
*Xanika
lol dareaper, sleep well and long!
g'night reaper, sleep well.
dieus but no dios?
latin vs spanish, though we use the Spanish more, at least here in the States.
oh, firewords. :)
wtg dc! Now better go give your vampire some fights to keep you awake... or no, you cannot play facebook from there, can you :(
no, i can get to the site, and log in, but can't get past that.
must do all that from home.
here, i may babble, sudoku, LJ, and gmail - sometimes w/chat
I thought I remembered that, yes. Sorry. Still, you get more access than I had at work.
secure environments i've worked in have been random like that. at DOD, no yahoo nor aol nor msn mail, but gmail. *shrug* of course, of those only gmail offer https
well, I better go join the family things now. Hope you have a good remainder of your shift, dc, and a good drive home. *hugs for now*
*hug* hope yall enjoy yall's day.
and bye to all lurkers :)
i'm about if clueing is desired.
I am already back for a little while :) Man and son are shopping. They are so good to me.
wb :) that was quick
yes, was expecting a much longer break. But they only needed me to make a shopping list. And for cuddles.
nice.
lol, do I go on too much about my family? I apologise.
no, you do not do so at all. :) and really, as much as we share here, not in the least.
oh then! But feel free to say so if I do. I sometimes am so full of the love I feel for them, I kinda overflow ;)
*OK then, not oh
oh works, though ok or well would be more common.
hi everyone back already!
wb, bubblepop! it's like homecoming
yeah, typo, but not a very bad one, lol. wb bubble
ahhhhh so nice to be back
can i have a clue for the 8 please
Good morning everyone.
evening all :)
hi Marmar
st8 - what you'd do to the ship in rough seas
made stable, bubble
hey marrmar and mr pres!
morning, mrp, and hello, maramar
heyyyyy mrP! *hug*
I have been trying to babble without looking at the chat...trying to improve. But you all have such interesting converstaions!
oh, this one looks a little tough! hi dcs and sprite ((hugs))!
hi bubble :)
this one's not as bad as it looks, mrp
cool icon mr pres
oh yes it is!
it is not at all flowing for me, mrP, but some people have less trouble with it. Dc zoomed through it!
Good Morning Everyone. Rarely chat but this morning, I'm witing for the sun to rise and I feel social!
How many words today please?
yay redturtle, welcome to the day and the chat!
of course he did! he is abit of a babble champion! :))
morning, redhurtle! you in Oz or NZ?
172 words
my babbling has improved a lot sing going to nights :">
USA...I have a long run this morning
he ain't anywhere near here if it is morning LOL
172, 1x8, 10 x 7
oh, comptetive, training, or for fun?
gosh i only have 1 seven
training, getting over injury, so not competitive any more..
thanks Sprite! I'm at 98 words so far, have the 8, not too bad..
hopefully not too cold wher you are
not bad at all, redturtle! I hope you have a good run that helps the injury heal and lessens the damage!
i cant get the 8 despite clues
i'm guessing its st5/10 + ***
I just watched Narnia. Wow
he st8 the glass, before it tipped and spilled
well done, isn't it mrP? I like it!
it's in the 30's. I'm in NC, should be warmer. THanks again Sprite. I hope I have a good run too...
yes bubble, that's right
it is, bubble. It ends in past tense of going over to the other side permanently
so not unlike what we have here around DC then. Which means it's chilly there.
oh got the 8! thanks!
yay mrP!
It's gets warmer into the 70's later
nice clue dcs
we're hoping for mid-50s
ty mrp, you must have kids ;) lol
We got our first snow the other day but it melted quickly.
I am not good with long words with prefix/suffix... without being compound, I suck
I suck at compounds
no snow here yet, knock wood. i'm sure we'll have some this year though, unlike last.
Snow Marmar? yikes! Where are you?
sorry i just cant get the 8
oh compounds are the first thing I see! that is cause I see 4 letter words first!
Right in the middle of Germany, 70 north of Frankfurt.
oh, bubble, my bad, st8 builds on st5/12 - do it in my st5
bubble: S + popular brits hot drink + past tense of pass away
if you were to fall, I would st***y you, and in the present tense, you would be not quite able to fall
Last weekend the north coast got hammered with rain and had floods and the south had blizzards...very weird.
argh, Marmar, wayyy too close to my taste! Might get our way fast!
I mean the snow, Marmar, not you of course :)
That's right sprite, we're neighbors!
Sort of...
we are!
does it start with st5/10?
does it start with st5/10?
yes bubble
no, starts with st5/12, which is after the 5/10
oh, no indeed, it starts with a st5/12
how near is Frankfurt to Amsterdam?
Germany makes sense....I've only benn there through the airport thouhg....
I believe I have massive potential... to be a cluer, in about 20 life times :)) I better get to bed cause I am exhausted! Sprite, we must do a reading soon! I am recovering from a few things at the moment, but will be on skype soon!
can i have a clue for the st5/12
I confused Lady the other day by explaining that Norfolk, VA is 3.5 hours from hear by car.
about 365 km, dc... 227 miles
inst5/12 of this, i want that.
oh, so a bit farther than here to Philly. Easy day trip.
got it! thanks!
mrP, just take your time and put your energy where it is most needed. I am here and will still be here when things get better at your side, darling. *hugs*
gah. here. here. here. my fingers keep typing hear tonight.
thank you! night all :)) **hugs**
lol dc... longing for a little bit more sound?
good night mrp! sleep well
maybe. it's quieter than usual tonight.
bye mr pres
Yes DC, it's all so close but we hardly ever venture out anymore. Little kids around the house now, makes it harder to be impulsive
bye mr pres
g'night mrp! *hug*
sleep well, mrP! I am thinking of you.
i gotta go too, bye everyone
Good night Mr. P.
makes all the difference, Marmar, I know.
Bye Bubble.
i understand that marar, my sister and i planned for 2 weeks a weekend trip to Ohio for a family reunion -hers were 8yrs, and 17mos at the time.
bye bubble
ciao, bubble
did you make it happen?
bye bubble
the trip, yeah, no problem. i got off work, went to her place, we loaded up, she drove up, we had a great time on the farm; it was funny watching the 8yr old being afraid of the cows - i drove back. Nice visit.
how is daybreak coming on, redturtle?
My husband and I are getting away in a couple weeks to Cologne for a night at the opera and their famous Christmas Market! It's so beautiful.
sounds very good, dc!
that's stilly ~90 min away here on the east coast, sprite.
Not. I should have slept later, but...I have about an hour. I would go now but my logic is telling me running in the dark is stupid.
oh, enjoy, maramar, i've heard that koln is beautiful.
which opera?
oh, wonderful, Marmar! So good to be away together for once too!
Nabucco by Giuseppe Verdi.
running in total dark can be quite dangerous, depending on the roads.
How is the Christmas Market? I saw a programme about it on our travel channel...I think the warm drinks looked like the best part
sounds realistic to me, redturtle... and enough fun things to do while waiting for dawn!
oh, lovely! that's rarely produced here, but i do love Verdi
I was more thinking about who I might run into.
I cannot get the hang of opera, but I love Verdi.
well, yes, that too.
the roads and the people on it, yes. Or next to it :)
and safety first, always!
I've taken the dog out, he's 78 pounds so I worry less with him, but I do worry about the random people...
dc are you on night shift?
so indeed, better to wait for first light and enjoy your run better!
yes, red, i work 19-7 the days i work.
Myself as well, but babble is banned at work!
too bad!
I've never heard this opera so I am really looking forward to it. As for the market...it's dreamy. There are really several. One at the foot of the gorgeous cathedral, one in the old city center, a few others too. That hot drink for some people is what it's all about: Gluhwein! Very delicous and makes you feel very warm and happy!
here, it's not. which pleases me immensly. this chat is what gets me through the nights.
Gluhvein is good stuff. :)
Marmar that sounds so lovely! And Christmassy! I love a snowy cold Christmas.
gluhwein is among the best things when it is really cold! Even when it is just chilly, actually :D
Gluhwein. I must be tired, my spelling is failing
Me too. I was just remembering when I used to get up and go running at sunrise...ah..the old days!
you are tired, dc, but perfectly comprehensible still.
DC that is great. if work were busier now, i wouldn't care, but last night I sat for 6 hours straight, saw 4 patients. and I had finished my book!
comprihensible? ah well...
i know, but it annoys me when i spell poorly. 'comprehensible' i believe.
that sounds like boredom at the max, redturtle :(
oh, you a nurse, red?
yes, but the money is good for the moment...
and yes. nurse.
yeah, with an E. I should not correct myself, usually first go is good.
better bring 2 books next time, lol... and a sudoku booklet maybe... or even a gameboy ;)
i'm going to guess in ER or Radiology or such, as you had such a lull?
ER...and I'm on contract, small hospital on the coast...its winter...
I definitely need to get some more books...
yeah, i've friend who does agency work, it's amazing how loads differ from hospital to hospital, even in a large area like this one.
DC you said DOD lets you use gmail....why gamil and not the others?
Red, do you do any handwork like knitting?
Marmar, I am not very creative...so nothing there...
dunno, that was thase when i was there...3 years ago. may have changed since then.
ahhh...
I just thought that was a little unusual!
didn't you say something like it was the only one allowing https, dc?
it was. but SDDC was like that. yes ,sprite, that's right.
Woops, I have to run to the copy center to get some stuff for the christmas play ready. Bye friends!
bye Marmar, have a good one!
ciao, marmar
Bye Marmar!
Bye gang! *poof*
argh dc, down to 26 and struggling! Not having a very easy day, it seems. But still having loads of fun ;)
do you have all the 7s?
no, I have 6 so far
there were some weird words in this one, like the ST6/24-7/40 combo.
I bet I am still missing S7s, I have only 3 so far
lolll indeed, that one is definitely missing in action still!
and the st6/27-7/44 combo, which word i'd never encountered before.
i have 66 left, which is good for me.
wow redturtle, good going!
dc...that one was an automatic for me, my Grandpa was a WWII pilot....
no, that last combo I already have.
my grandparents were navy and marines, one great-grandpa was infantry in both wars.
not too much ground *******ing going on in the ocean...
that's familiar, is it from a song?
Hmmmm.
I dunno
ah, got the 6-7-7 combo, thanks
or maybe it's just pleasantly rhymthmic :)
a whole lot of loving going on, dc
ah, ty
wa6/7 was odd to me, too.
don't have that one yet...
I have a wa6, but I think it is not the one
I have a 6/36
it's Cowboy Slang, Western U.S.. a cowboy. - live and learn.
I have a 6/51
Oh, i just got the dog off the balcony, it is freezing!!!
lol, good thinking, redturtle ;)
wa6/36-7/52, wa6/39 are tho ther biggis in that letter.
He's furry, and likes cold, but the barking, the neighbours don't like at 5 am
thanks dc!
I think i have to run fast to stay warm, yikes.
my roomie's dog likes the cold too. Hence, i walk him in the winter some, as i don't chill as easily as roomie does, and nothing makes Duke happier than bounding through snow and cold.
you can come and walk my dog!!!!
maybe this year, we'll get some snow.
lovely, dc! I see the two of you go out!
I'm trying to get a contract out west though, so he can roll in snow...
there's good opportunities in CO right now, i'm told, and possibly around Buffalo, lots of snow Cliveland-Buffalo
Ft collins area of CO has had snow for nearly a month now.
Co is good, and NM...What field are you in?
I hate the cold though....But I want to train at higher elevation...
i work technical helpdesk, but very close friend of mine is a nurse who's been shopping around.
Laz Vegas and Santa Fe offer not too cold and elevation
Yes, I am looking at a hosp about 25 miles from Santa Fe, interviewed yesterday but we will see. the NM was a little flustered, didn't offer right off, soooo...
yeah, that doesn't bode too well.
what about SLC or Provo?
It was wierd, but...if it is offerred, I'll take it.
I totally want SLC...
My big race event of winter is in Moab
when will you know?
http://www.moabhalfmarathon.org/halfm/ halfm.html
hi ppl
Probably by Monday...but theres always jobs...
hi matt
morning, matt, how are you today?
will keep fingers crossed for you, redturtle
good thanks
oh wow, quite an event indeed, redturtle!
thanks sprite! and Good morning Matt
yes, the little video inspires me to keep running....I can't wait.
that looks like a fun event.
my hubby is taking our son to Amsterdam for a day of fun together. My daughter is spending the day horseriding and cleaning and admiring with a friend... and I have the time to myself :)
will go pick up daughter at the end of the afternoon and then make a cozy dinner for 2. Great day!
Yes, I am actually still waiting on the lottery to see if I am in, but I'm planning on it. Sprite sounds like a fun day!!
am enjoying it so very very much :) Which is a good thing, have been depressed for so long, it is great to realise I am truly enjoying again!
can i plz hav som help
exiting, redturtle, I hope you are in!
tezs
matt, do you have lickety's babble clues up, so you can be a bit specific about which words you need help with?
no i will get it up now
matt, you know by now that you have to be a little more clear about the thing you need help with...
sprite, last year when I got injured I really got depressed, it was the 1st time I understood how awful it can be
i have got lickets babble clues up so that should help now thanks guys
I can understand that, redturtle, it is very tough to lose something you really enjoy and love. Go matt! :) Good luck!
thats actuaslly when i found babble!
glad to have you, red, and i'm esp glad to hear that you're on the road to recovery. :)
oh, that is good! Babble can help with staying active and connected in a way. It is a fun game and a great community.
so... hope you feel free to chat more often. I'd love to hear how things work out for you... job, lottery for the race, and your mood and all!
yes, the community here rocks. I'm so glad i finaly lept into the chat.
same here, red
so are we, dc! *hug* You are such an addition.
i need to actually upgrade at some point...
:"> *hug*
OK...must start actually getting ready....
the cold awaits....
See you all soon!
ciao, redturtle
bye redturtle! Have a good run!
down to 7, sigh... ;)
oh... found the other wa biggies very easily all of a sudden.
:D
which letters you down to, sprite?
let me check... some Ws, one A, one R.
ok, only 2 Ws left now
lol, the wa4 word with a Z at the end is not valid.
lolllll my last word was H2O. Stupid not to see it sooner!
that makes sense to me.
i do stuff like that a lote.
lol, that does make me feel a little better about it :)
i'll see on my way home whether sleep or hunger will win out.
wow, that vid guy is amazing!
dc, I am gonna hug you for now. Hope your shift is about to end and that you can eat on the way home and drop off to sleep as soon as you see your bed :)
thanks for the great company.
yep 40 min left. :) *hug* Have a fabulous day!
as a final note: stupid enable wouldn't let me have wodif. And wodif I was certain sure it was a good word?
even woddif would have satisfied me
morewords knows it not
that's 'what if' as spoken, no?
lol, it was a joke... not a good one, I agree
yeah, that is what I meant
LOL
a wanted offed to be valid
exactly! ;) *poof*
hasta, everyone {poof}
An early "Good Morning" everyone.
Hello? Is anyone else here?
Am I alone in the Babble world?
I'm here Merk. Staring blankly at the grid at the moment.
This is an unusual grid ... so far so good.
How often do we see double d, f, and t ... and so many vowels ... all of those e tiles!
can i plz hav halp with st8/50
morning all can i have todays stats and any biggies please
I don't have the biggies yet, Cool Girl. I'm just typing in what I see.
There are lots of words with double consonants in the middle and some that change the ending y to "ied" for past tense.
ten 7's and 1 eight
the st8/50 think balance
one of the sevens is an re that ends in ied
can I please have help with the 8 letter word
Balance? Hmmmm
thank you I am no longer wobbly
I got it, thank you. No doubles, many of the 7s have doubles
toffee
ty Matt
I could use an 'l' tile. There would be lots of words ending in le.
how many words are there today
teed
172
sorry about that
( how many ways can u make fe4,7 in this puzzle....?)
eight carlee
that..is sad
What, me answering?
This is a fun grid.
no..that the same words is there....8 diff ways
I say that while deep into the de
actually, i count 14, but thats even more sad that i sat here and plotted them out
maybe 15
i'm sick... I have sinus infecction... and I feel like crud
I have not started on them yet. I am wording on the d words, but it makes me anxious to get to the f.
i have the weird simultaneous floaty / heavy feeling... ( its ONE word that can be made 14 ways merk..not 7 fe4,7's )
diff is not a word. I often say, What's the diff?
I'm anxious to get there.
I am quite stuck on the final di 4,5
Oh, dud, I forgot to go up. Hit me with a wet noodle.
I hate it when I miss the easy ones.
teevee should work!
Morning all........oh my, this grid is different....lol
morning Flask
This grid is so cool. Just wait until you get into it. Your fingers won't be able to keep up with your brain.
that easy, huh??
that must be my problem..brain is fuzzy
I can't imagine what it would be like if my brain already had its coffee.
Oh well I just had mine!
the es 7 is new to me, but easy to find.
switch the last two letters of the es 5 and go on from there.
thanks for the hints Merk!
gone to take tylenol and lie down...culater
later Carlee.....bye!
All of these f tiles and you can't make feoff!
bye carlee
Why won't they take fest?
i don't see it in the grid
hi everybody.. have been sitting and staring at all the eeeeeeeeees in the grid, mesmerized.. lol
hi Aloy
hi lideola.. guess I'm ready to start.. got a cuppa.
yes, its a conspiracy of EEEE's ... don't look at them too long or you will be hypnotized by them, then you're done for
(-: true..
Hey, I love this grid ... one of my recent favorites.
so far, so good.. but my eyes really are drawn toward the center, the pull of the ees..
Good Morning All can i please have a hint on the ze6
one who ze4/9 before it
one who scrapes lemon rind..
thank you i had the shoret form
loved that clue Aloy ... you have such good ones
yw
sometimes they come to me, Merk.. lol.. othertimes...
brb, someone drank my coffee!
f
phantom: toward

hi shawnee :))
Where do you live, saphyre?
Southern Maryland now - NY most of my life though
these w's are crazy!
I rather like the tw6...VERY Canadian
People down here don't know how to drive in the snow - it's horrible
I don't think anyone around DC is from there, they are all transplants with military connections
we forget up here too...for the first week or so
am not seeing the fist wa6 and wa7... are they related?
true Shawnee - but southern md is still redneck - big pickups and no driving skills :)
I remember. I lived in Waldorf for a while. Made me feel quite at home. LOL
LOL yeah I'm about 25 minutes from Waldorf
Many of those W's are made-up words, so suspend reality, mrp
the wa6 and 7 are variations on wa4,9
its like an oasis
w + your daughter's nickname is M*****
thanks scrab! :))
I got the first tw4, but not that tw6

Hi. I'm chilling out listening to African music by Zulu group Mbube (which means 'lion').

Nice evening, Jacula... I'm slogging through my last seven words and getting a cold from carlekat! :-)

Congtratulations, joanne!!
That'd be a virtual cold, would it, Scarlet?
Well done, joanne.
yea..sure ..blame the canadian.... did u get tw6 yet red?
chinese food bloated me
tyvm jac
I am back. Time to tackle the "st" words.
Yes, it would... but when your friends are sick, it is only "polite" to have a sympathetic symptom or two to share the misery! :-)\
congrats
joanne - that's the monosodium glutamate in it. Never mind, you'll be hungry again in about an hour. LOL.
Oh, sure, kat... that was my first word this morning! Honest!
hi jac
i sooo no
Hi, Scrabbler.
but i am done for the nite
Hi, Scrabbs. Have a good stab at them (no that's not one of them). st6 & the 2 following 7s are to do with air to ground missile fire (think WW2).
That clue fired right over my head, Jacula.
lol
Hi, saph. How's you?
pinggggggg
ok..so I won't bother clueing it red?
doing good Jac and you?
hi saph!!!!!
LOL... okay, that sounds like a tease, kat... okay, clue away!
Same here, Saph.
its canadian....on may 2-4 you buy a couple 2-4's ..then u spend 2-4 am puking ur guts out
Scrabbs - think of an 's' word that's the opposite of 'dangerous' (or aplace to keep your valuables) then add the 't' in the appropriate place followed by another consonant.
hi joanne :)
LOL... then I WILL blame the Canadians... LOL, kat... that's very off-the-wall...
lol u party animal u car
i'm sick....on drugs....
talking crazy huh
are any of these w's real words? lol
Oh, dear, Jacula---I am trying lots of combos without success
What, Corocidin? Poor kattie.

tylenol and sinutab
No, Saphyre, most are pretend words
st8 = stopped from falling over (maybe a drunk?)
ang u still here??
I just got st6-->7--->7
st6/27 & following st7 (the ones before the air to ground fire words) = guitarist Mr. Vai or actor Mr. (white-haired comedy man) Martin with an extra vowel in the middle.
Jacula, you are going around the center of my ST words... I need the 6/27 & 7/40 after the "denatured bull"
Red - just clued 'em. LOL
Bingo! Thank you, Jacula!!
I need the st5 before the denatured bull..I got the Mr MArtin ones, TY

Aha, TY, Carlee
Zigzag letters there
(o:
st5 (last) = horse bedding (not hay)
anyone need clues before I go?
ok, back. I'll try to clue, if my brain will cooperate...
I'm okay thanks, saph. I only came in to clue.
I am monkeying the most unusual W words...
Hi, phan.
hi, how are ya Jacula?
If I start clueing in Zulu please excuse me. It's the CD I'm listening to. LOL.
You have to, Scarlet, if you want to find them all. Seven are not real to me.
ok going to go have a glass of wine and relax a while - happy babbling everyone
I'm fine, thanks Phan. And you?
only 2 were weird to me
Bye Saphyre
I am exhausted; was working the finish line at a cross country meet all day and am wiped out!
I have found them and my jaw is agape... glad I am not alone...
and the wo was weird too
poof
bye Saphyre
3 of the w's were weird to me. Not that it stopped me finding them. LOL
carlee - wo4 is the blue paint old warriors wore.
How was the weather, phandmd?
That one I remember, kat... and the spelling on the wa6/36 and 7/52, I assume are alternates to the wa4/(
4/9
yeap...they are
ok..fireworks about to happen here..hubby ticked with son..and son just got home....best run
10 left, all RE's...argh!
I knew that YOU would know, kat... you'd have to know. It's a natural.
wo4 is what Mel Gibson has on his face in his role of William Wallace.
nitenite all
cu in the am
'Night, carlee.
'Bye, kattie.
best wishes Carlee
Braveheart--I loved that movie!
i thought that was just a sexy smile, jacula
The re's aren't too bad, Scrabbs.
LOL, sassy.
It's one of my top five all-time favorite movies, too.
wofe
Gladiator, Braveheart, The Patriot....inspiring movies that are among my favorites.
no, sory
sorry, i was trying to get it and typed in the wrong spot!!
Sassy, are you a dog?
What's the betting that the favourite scene for you all from Braveheart was the mass 'mooning' scene? LOL
I love the Godfather trilogy, Apocalypse Now and Braveheart...
actually sassy was the name of my cat!!
most def
Oh, it looked like you woofed there, Sassy, LOL
No, Jacula... it was the moment that William revealed the thistle stitching given to him by his lady love... and dropped from his hand upon death...
One of the most boring films I ever sat through was Brad Pitt in 'Troy'. Gawd! They spend longer philosophising about the battles than fighting them!
at least the mooning scene cleared up the question of what they wear under their kilts
Yes, Jac. And the end, when WW rides across the field, on the horse, holding the flag to rile up the Scots
That was awful, I agree, Jacula... and so stupid to boot!
How about the crazy Irishman... a perfect role!
I never watched that one (Troy).
LOl, sassy... I had never given it much thought!
Daughter and I saw Lions for Lambs this afternoon, and I thought I was back in the 60s... the more we change the more we stay the same.
sassy - I bet it nearly killed all the actors and extras to take their thermal undies off for that shot. *grins* It's verra cauld i' Scotland.
4 re's left
LOL
Scrabbs - Don't bother! (Re 'Troy'.)
Save your mind, Scrabbler... it's a waste.
but do finish the re's!
Brad and Orlando don't do anything for me
Me, neither, Scrabbs.
but so worh it, jacula. great scene
I think orlando is at his best as a blonde elf!
Orlando was beautiful in Return of the King... lovely pointed ears and blond hair... speaking Elvish...
Russell Crowe is my gladiator however
I hear that the 3:10 to Yuma is fairly good, Scrabbler...
I loved Legolas (blond, soft-spoken Orlando)
however, i am still stuck on the wo4
another word for street pronounced funny
sassy - the film wasn't exactly historically correct (there was the odd wristwatch and plane on show, too) but neither is the TV series 'The Tudors'. However, if you watch both as entertainment rather than true history they're good.
WO + short word for a printed commercial...
Elmer Fudd: not the high wo4 but the low wo4
phan just said a WORD!
LOL, Scrabbler.
how would elmer fudd pronounce road
thanks, phandmd, that made me chuckle, and i got it!!
*gasp*
oh dear! I told you my brain was fried!
you guys are fun!!
Good night, all. Thank you for the help, Jacula!

Fried brains? Anyone got any chianti? LOL *Hannibal Lecter noise*
'Night, red.

That is just gross, Jac
Offering fava beans...
well i just finished. i will say a prayer tonight that tomorrow's puzzle has less than 6 e's.
Yes, phan... and it's off to a good football game on the television!
enjoy
OK, two re's left, the re5/14 and re 7/36--are they weird? No obvious clues please.
woot, Cheeky
Sorry, phan! My ex MIL used to eat sheep's brains. I'm sure she deliberately used to have them on the day I visited with the kids because she knew it grossed me out to see them sitting there soaking in a pyrex bowl. YUK!
**barfing sounds**
Gotta love a woman with a devilsh sense of humour
**more barfing sounds**
OK, I got the re7
woot!
re5/14 = to plus again. re7/36 = girded ones loins for whatever?
Obscure enought for you, Scrabbs?
Oh dear! Scrabbs must have her head down the loo.:(
I'd better not mention the rabbit pies my grandmother used to make in the War. No... I'll make myself barf, too.
I think I am going to go to bed. It is only 8 pm, but I think I need it
Despite recurrent wretching, I managed to finish.
Well done, Scrabbs!
congrats scrabs!!
woo hoo
Heck! I've cleared the chatlog. Knew I should start chatting when listening to Zulu music.
*shouldn't have
re 7/36 too obscure for me! another clue please
Oh, Jacula! Now I will have nightmares.

SamanthaJoy you can always use BJ's list

Congrats, witchy.
congrats witchy!!

gramma wheres bjs list?
I see the theme for Sunday 18th Nov (today here in UK) is 'tree leaves'. Hmm! Getting rather fed up of sweeping those up. I've even followed the damned things down the pavement (sidewalk) and watched 'em turn the corner to end up in my front garden. No kidding!
BJ's list is a Babblers Anonymous under 'General' (see green links below left, 4th down in 2nd column.
I think I'll change mine to a birthday cake.
Is it your birthday tomorrow, doxy?
yep!
Oh! Many happies!
happy birthday doxy
thank you jac.
thanks witchy.
One year younger than me then, or thereabouts. 'Big' birthday for you next year.
49 tomorrow
I spent my big 'something -0' in Amsterdam.
Other half is will reach his big 4-0 in 2009. I'm planning to take him to Paris for that.
I'm just glad I'm not working tomorrow. with my new job, I don't have to work weekends. I will have to take call occasionally, but that's just carrying a phone with me everywhere
My big 4-0 was spent with my kids on a day trip to Iceland (the country, not the frozen food store).
it sounds like you get to travel a lot jac. I would love to travel more.
I am planning to come over to your continent in about 2 years.
doxy - just reading your profile and seeing about your 'dash' I realised I have 'lost' a card I bought for a friend today. It has a rought and a smooth-haired dachshund on it and said something like, 'Life! You take the rough with the smooth.' I know I didn't leave it in the shop. It must be in one of the bags somewhere.
I was looking at your profile to see if it said what your new job is, btw.
that is so neat jac.
I don't travel that much, doxy.
I'll have to add that. I am now a hospice nurse.
I went from delivering babies to aiding in the comfort of those leaving life.
That sounds like a very natural and kindly progression, doxy.
And, though the end is sad, hospices are not completely joyless places.
I started orienting on Monday, and have my first patient already. I get about 5 more on Monday. I am really excited about this job.
I will be doing a lot of in-home hospice, with some nursing home's also.
st6/27? first one

it's totally different from what I am used to. I have been in the hospital setting for 15 years.
did you have fun lilliann?
i read that you use to deliver babies, that must have been a nice job, but sad at times aswell
I got burned out. decided to take my career in a different direction.
it was ok doxy. i went to a working mans club that we go to every saturday as they have live music on, but it wasn't that good, but i was out with friends so it was nice in that respect
it's always nice to be with friends.
hello all
i can understand that, before i became disabled and unable to work, i worked in psychiatric hospitals, care homes and with people with special needs and severe behavioural problems and i could only work at each place for a couple of years at a time as it is hard and you run out of steam, but i enjoyed my job and miss it very much now i can't do it.

i agree stid.after i had written it i thought it wasn't right as i've had people say horrible things about people i have cared about and me since becoming disabled, but it just shows how small minded they are!

they are peaceful -- people who no longer have to worry...
hey nutters
i'm off to get food, back in a bit. :)
it's a good ending Rennie! watch it!
Stid - I remember doing that as a teenager. The verger suddenly appeared with his black robes flapping in the wind by the church porch and scared the sh*t out of us all. He even did the Vincent Price laugh as we fled. LOL
national treasure, happy ending ren
(Bet he dined out on that tale for ages!)

Glad you got it, lil.

stid - I can still see and hear him (and us) now!
bye dc
ren, did you get v9?

'Night, stid.

Erm.... oh, okay Nut.

evening, all
No idea what calvin & is!
nut, you can love your cat, just don't "love" your cat
Anyway, cats smell funnny!
"Truth About Cats and Dogs" line, that was
omg jac, its like one of the best cartoons ever
and my kit kat is very clean, and the only funny smelling thing on him is his breath
My cats were clean, nut, but their smells did not attract me to rub my face on them.
Fin!!!
Cat pheromones do not attract me.
yea for uniquity
Well don, Uniquity.
welp, to each their own jac, but it was tempting to see if i could get away with it
yay all finishers!
wtg uni!
wtg pam
hi pam
he he he, jac, are you suggesting that my husband rub a little cat on his neck before we get frisky?
Just as well you did get away with it, nut, otherwise you've be a well-scarred pirate nut.
i need some pirate scars, maybe on my nose, no, i already have a nose scar
whooo hooooo UNI
Hi Pam
Nut - I never even thought such a thing re the hubby and the cat... but... if it pleases you. AHEM.
hi, lbd
jac, but seriously, you need to read calving and hobbes, cutest cartoon ever and yet is sometimes had some good environmental undertones
Hi, pam. Nut's just getting fruity aout cat smells.
Nut - I'll check it out sometime. Promise.
you're just jealous cause your cat would have shredded you if you had tried it.
wa6/48 please
*about
LOL, jac and hi
calvin and hobbes, what a great comic!
My cat would shred me if I even THOUGHT about it, but I do like Calvin and Hobbes
one of the top ten ever dawg
Nut - I have a man which attractive pheromones and a furry belly so why on earth would I want to rub my face on the cat's belly? *grins*
with not which
it's a stupid head word Lilli, wa4.14 + 3rd and 2nd vowel
jac I am in "mourning," I finished a great book...
i could reply jac, but it would sound perverted
i wouldn't want to put my face anywhere near my cats belly...i don't know where its been!!but each to their own nut!
pam - and the book was? (I've just started 'Crow Lake' btw.)
Reply, nut! *grins*
oooh, hate that pam! sometimes i get depressed at the end of a good book, or like a steven king book will leave me desparing for a couple of days
The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon
That's how I am, nut!
hi babblers!
FIZZIE!
fizzedy dizzedy doo!
If anyone's read The Witch of Cologne....that put me in a funk for a while
Hi, Fiz.
i changed channels - i'll let someone tell me about national treasures
ty lbd
wa 6/51?
how's everyone doing?
Let me know about Crow Lake--through GoodReads if you wish to not tie up chat the way i do
hi fiz
Hi, fiz
i read CELL, boy did it depress me, hugely
Ren - that'll be about your sis's cat's belly then, I guess? ;)
lilli, past tense of the wa4.14
nutty, are you having inappropriate thoughts about the cat *again*? i thought we talked about that....
not heard of that, nut
hmmmm...the husband didn't seem to have any issues when i did it, he thought it was funny
pam - well it's got me hooked about 3 chapter in so far.
hey fizzie!!!!
pam, if you want to despair over the end of mankind, its the book for you
hi rennie! how goes things in the bahamas?
Cool, Jac, I will have to remember that! Ummm, nut, maybe I will pass for now...
I felt bere4/7 at the end of quite a few books. Even Rober James Waller's Bridges of Madison Cunty/Love in Black and White.
i have that 1 lbd, p2h was asking for it but ty anyway
did someone clue the wa 6/51?
being a bum fiz
beach bum ren?
lbd did p2h at 8.51
you name it fiz and i'm it!
ok, bath water is ready, guess i'll go wash my face since youz guyz seem to think my kit kat stinks and is dirty....good thing he can't read
Wow, jac. I was relieved when I finished Bridges. Co-workers at the time LOVED it and swooned over it and insisted I read it. Not my kind of book, LOL
wa6/51 is the past tense of the wa4/14 before it. (wa4 is the start of a UK breakfast thing.)
USa, not UK. Sorry!
bye, nut
lol nut! jealous...i just threw in a load of laundry which precludes a bath...
Nut - go and rub your face on hubby's belly. LOL.
i always feel sad when i finish a really good book. sometimes i get overly attached to the characters, and it's like losing a friend.
enjoy your bath nut!!
pam - I know Mr. Waller doesn't write the best literature, but I loved the story.
have you read A Tree Grow in Brooklyn? one of my favorites, and sad to leave every time.
i love the books i read so much i sleep with them on my pillow
it was a nice story, as a story, that is true, jac. But it is not a me book...
ty lilli
*picturing ren literally curled up with a good book*
La Vyrle Simpson doesn't write the best literature either, but her stories are complelling. I re4/5 all sorts of books. Love books! I don't give up on many.
it was required reading, fiz, growing up as I did in Brooklyn...
I like andrew greeley, jac!
:)
i'm currently devouring Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, by Barbara Kingsolver. I've never thought so much about the source of my food.
Not heard of him Pam. I wonder if he's the equivalent of our Jeffrey Archer? Having said that, I had no trouble reading Archer's 2 books I was given but had nothing but contempt for them.
He is an American priest who wrote some fun trash... I don't think I have read Archer, not sure
i'm reading some of my mom's journals - i never knew she threatened to give me back to the indians everytime i was bad
Kingsolver is a good writer, fiz
It's approaching my witching hour and so anyone who need clues ask now or forever hold your peace...
sweet zzzzz's mistress
pam - re Archer - don't waste your time.
lol rennie! my parents tell a story about considering tossing me out in the snow shortly after i was born...
we used to tell my son his sister ate the first little brother we gave her...til one day he asked me with big, sad eyes if it was true...
LOL, jac, I won't waste it!
My mum said I looked like Winston Churchill, or a bulldog, when I was born. The midwif was most offended.
oh, angel! poor guy!
hello all :)
In those days (1957) midwifes considered all the babies to be 'their' babies!
hi mr p!
Hi, MrP. How's the arm today?
hi mrP
hey mrp!!!
angel - Gawd! Why on earth did you say that?
well, in context it wasn't so bad...we were joking around with his sister.
Hi Mrp
In what context?
hi fiz, jac, angel, ren et al :) Arm is sore and sorry. But, lunch is nearly on so food will fill my void :}
hi dawg! :))
hi, MRP
Not getting at you, angel, I'm just flabbergasted and want to know...
hi pam! :))
MRP! (Stern expression on face) What have you been doing with/to the arm?
I believe she was complaining about having a little brother, and we made a joke about what happened to "the first one". After that it became a family joke.
just preparing my house for sale :D... nothing major! nearly broke the arm twice over since
I assumed her brother knew we were joking, until the day he asked me about it.
Oh, okay, angel.
Kids tak things literally, but I guess you know that now.
angel, kids are weirdos... you know, they don't know much? If I told them that I have been lying about santa and the easter bunny, they would laugh in my face!
yes, I do, and him more than most.
lol, mrP
MrP - I've seen the house sale site. It must be hard trying to live in a house, especially with kids, and try to keep it all 'Homes & Gardens' looking.
oh, a home & garden look??? that IS a compliment!
My daughter once sleep waked onto a swivel chair when staying at my parents' house, from that she fell onto the edge of a chest of drawers and ripped a right-angled hole into her skull just above her left eye. I can still see the scar clearly as she sits here now.
wow mrp! that's lurvely!
mrp - where are you guys moving?
let's just say, they don't have any toys anymore. Or food in the cupboard, or plates to eat off... LOL! we are bare boned!
Jac! How scary that must have been.
yikes jac! that sounds scary!
ren, no idea! Will move into your attic if you have room?
and if you live in tornedo alley, a basement would do nicely
Anyway, point of typing all that was to say that when we finally got to see someone at the hospital with her, after some doc had poked his finger into the hole, making blood spurt everywhere, our daughter scream with pain and fear, and me want to kill him on the spot, they then decided an x-ray would be in order... 'We're just going to take a look inside your head,' a nurse said to her. As soon as the words wer out of her mouth I KNEW waht my daughter would think. As she shot upright on the table and screamed, I rushed over and told her,'They don't mean they're going to take the top of your head off! They've got a special camera that can look inside without opening anything'.
mrp we've got a spacious attic. but you probably can't make it up the ladder with a bad arm. maybe the kids in the attic, and you in the spare room?
you're always welcome here mrp!
rofl jacs! i'm sure it wasn't funny at the time but you get a great story out of it.
I won't forget Maddie taking a face dive into the A/C unit... she has a permanent smile now with the scar on her lip/nose line
MrP - There's nothing more scarey than our children hurting themselves, is there?
Re Homes and Gardens comment, yes, I meant it. Hard to live like that though! Can't of5/22 you accommodation as I'm too far away.
luckily, it is very very hidden cause the best plastics surgeon was on emergency duty that day... thank goodness
Oh, Jacs! That's worse than eating your other brother!
He actually stitched her up with tiny eeny weeny stitches on the outside, and big nasty ghastly stitches on the inside.
hey, peeps
Incidentally, when my daughter took that dive my parents were sleeping. Their Bearded Collie, Lucy, alerted my Mum to the problem. Beardies are known for herding and nursing everything from sheep to children. Lucy was always very diligent about my children.
almost bloody impossible to live in a home&garden house. We don't even eat in the house anymore! LOL
i have a scar like that mrp. same thing - could have been a horrifically ugly thing except for who was on duty. it only shows a little when i make certain faces :)
The younger angel has a scar right in the middle of her forehead from falling down when she was 3. I chickened out of being there for stitches; her dad had to handle that. Thankfully, Harry Potter has made having a vertical gash in the middle of your forehead cool...
That is excellent luck Fiz! It makes a huge difference who the doc is
can I get a clue on the 2nd te6/18 (not the one about playground equipment)
oh, I have one of those angel!
tiger, te5 firma that knows the value of discretion
not there yet tyger...sorry!
Son's got a scar right in the middle of his forehead from me dabbing at chicken pox scab with cotton wool and warm water. Whole thing came out like a plug! Left a hole! Well, I couldn't really shove it back in, could I?
dc, I get the first part, but not the rest :(
i have a permanent bump on my head where i fell over so many times when i was younger and a young doctor accused my mam of child abuse
you guys are so right about scars & stitches. I recall that there was a *teenager* who had a hysterectomy a day or two after mine. I had a nearly invisible scar, on the "bikini line" she had a big ugly one that looked like somebody grabbed a big handful of flesh and twisted it - and it froze that way
if one knows value of discretion, one is discr---
right between the eyes! had to get it 'adjusted' this year cause as I am getting older, the scar stretched and opened up more, it is right between a group of muscles.
Bumps, lumps, scars, stretch marks and all the rest are the testaments to our lives. Unless you spend your waking time wrapped in cottonwool, you will bear scars, both physical and emotional.
oh, tyger. so sad for so many reasons.
right, Fiz. When I saw her scar, I wanted to cry
hello everybody :)
hi, rae
hi rae
welcome, rae
rae!!!!!!
I will get a pick of the one on my arm, then get you all to 'tell a story' that would have other's believing! Would love to see who comes up with a beauty !
hi rae!
hi raelite :))
DC, I've tried a bunch of combos, to get down to 6 letters, and none of them works :(
that should say pic, not pick
right, i'm too tired to finish, and am going to bed.goodnight all and take care
hey, rae :)
hi all you guys :D
tyger, did you piece together the te6/18?
hi ren!!
good night lil
you said te*** firma + discr***, I think?
nite, lilli
nite angel
mrp: first rule of fight club is, don't talk about fight club :)
goodnight lilli. sleep well!
yes, zip them together, ignore a vowel
bye everyone{poof}
did u get the t6/ 36
Hang on.. so many clueing the end of the te6/18 word that way that I must make the distinction between the meanings of discree* and dis**** (Greek island). Firsst means 'capable of keeping one's one counsel' i.e keeping your mouth shut) and the other means 'separate or distinct from'.
spelling diff, yes, forgot about that.
are there any sz words?
my brain doesn't diff homonyms very well
no, rae
thank goodness!
finally got it, but you confused me with that consonant on the end :P
:">
now I gotta paste them into the Expert's iteration of Lickety's page, so it can transfer 'em
back in a mo
Good evening, y'all. My husband just told me about freerice.com. A lot of Babble words on there!
thanks for trying so hard to help
syzgy hasn't appeared in a grid yet, rae.
hey, flippy
freerice is fun, welcome, flippy
hi super flippy!
Hi, all. I usually play in the morning, so I'm seeing new names tonight.
we're a good chunk of the standard night crew, welcome!
we're the creatures of the night
I think I've seen you before, superflippy.
ren, needs a "mwa haa haa"
LOL :D
hi flippy. i just heard about freerice this week, too :)
syzgy - when the sun, moon and some other celestial body all lie in a straight line. Remember that for future grids!
that sounds like it's from hair....
fireworks
YAY Tyger!
wahoo tyger!
yay tyger. <humming "age of aquarius" under breath>
whooo hoooo Tyger
when the moon is in the syzgy and jupiter alines with syzgy
Ren - one line from the musical 'Hair' stands out to me and it doesn't come from Aquarius.
fireworks
congrats, Jen!
whoooo hoooo Jen
which line mistress?
wtg jen!
It was 'ma12 can be fun' line.
yay jen!
um, jac, you're missing a y in that word. s/b syzygy :)
ty,ty,ty,ty
thx, all, BTW :)
I was busy looking it up to make sure
is it give me a head with hair? long beautiful hair?
Probably, tyger - I looked it up in Oxford dictionary and then came back to type it.
Ren - you know full well what line it is.
one of my fav SF short story writers (now dead many years) used it as the title of one story, IIRC
um, jac, are you brushing that kitty's tooths, or is there something s/he thinks is yummy on it?
(or should that be toofs, or teefs?)
not "let the sun shine in? "no mistress no!!! don't do it!!!
tyger - It's a pic I got off the net. I'd never attempt such a fe4/7 with my kitty!
He'd have my arm off oat the very least!
I didn't inted to watch it, but got captivated by a National Geographic TV programme on Sex (among all animals) so wittily written and narrated I'm really laughing out loud all the time!
did anyone else get t6/36
it's a candy, jen.
ya
Brilliant photography and editing and sound too
jilli - sex IS funny, or can be. If you can laugh together... it's lurve.
it's a wonderful hard candy, jen
Er -- hi all
I lurve to6/36
hey, jilli
t6/36 is chewy sweet.
:)
hi Jilli
hi jilli!
my teeth are all capped - i can only lurve t6/36 from afar
some to6/36 is hard and brittle, but it all tastes wonderful
jilli! Hi!
rae - when are you going to writre some more adventures?
hi jilli
Mine are a full of almalgam at the back and so I can onlyu love them from afar, too, Ren. I used to love the treacle ones, too.
very soon - nutty was telling me about the squirrels
I mean...the scorpion's love dance!
I"ve got a story percolatin' right now!
Yes, jilli. LOL.
we're stimulating my sweet tooth. if we don't talk about something else, I'll have to take an ice cream break!
aye me beauty rae!
I should have it up on monday, barring work interruptions
oh! time to server desert...see you all later
later, rae :)
anyone need any more clues?
and the Aussie red spider...
later rae //P-/
nite rae
ciao, rae
That reminds me, whilst in the 'cheese' shop today (old-fashioned proper food shop, step-daughter said do we want and organtic eggs? I said, 'At least she didn't say orgasmic eggs.' The poor woman behind the counter almost bust a gut trying not to laugh, especially when I went on to say that is my Mrs. Malaprop Gran was alive now, that was what she woud have said.
Well, if you can catch this show and would like a great laugh...darn, it just ended!
your Gran sounds like she was great fun, jac
is that a clue to the line from hair? cataclysmic, cataplasm fall out atomic orgasm
I'm laughing here just imaging my late Gran buying orgasmic vegetables.
Hair was written by the brother of one of my McGill friends *smirk*
lol!!! i got caught up in the grid for a moment and just resurfaced in time for grandmas buying orgasmic veggies :)
I wish I had some orgasmic vegetables...
ah jilli! sweet!
But I never saw it
angel! Do we need to know what your carrots, courgettes, cucumbers and marrows etc are doing??
grrrrrrrrrr
orgasmic vegetables produce fruits, no?
but a great big howdy to all the babbblers
hey bb
Didn't you, jilli? Oh!:(
howedy bbnaz
hi angel13136 - how r u tonight
great icon, bb!
i have 23 to go and there are a few that have me pulling my hair
evening everybody
Hi momof5. I thought you were out of town for the weekend?
thanks jilli
bring 'em on, bb
hey jes
great icon too, jac!
bbnaz - 'pluck' is not in the gridd.
Not out of town, just in Portland for Fri eve and Sat during the day. Got home about 5:PM
hi jes, momo3, bb
hi jes and bb.
hey, jes
Thanks, jilli.
how's everyone?
How was the trip?
Hi jes
well, and you jes? Hi, momo and bb!
Awesome! We had quite the experience
We're all pretty perky, jes.
tired. crazy morning. the afternoon's been much better
haven't even look at the grid today -- got to a mere 75 last night but all tiles accounted for, plus the 8
Hi all. I'm starting late tonight. Only been on for about an our and have 54 to go.
did you finally get some sleep, dc?
good to hear, jac :)
i have a zit on the side of my nose - that's how i am!!!
broccoli in peanut curry sauce is yummy
ren, you're too old for zits!
yikes, dc!!!
bb, what clues do you need??
that's what i thought jilli!
Make sure to squeeze it sideways and not full on into the grid, ren.
so's split pea soup with corn bread, dc :)
gross, jac!
Ewww....
jilli - surely you know that women of a certain age can get spots!
ren, is it sore?
i agree, jes
oh yeah, jes
thanks tyger how about the second to 7.36
ok mistress...i'll wait for the dinner crowd to finish
hot to7 all around, bb!
2nd to7/36 is a kind of alcoholic drink
I've been lucky so far in life... didn't get teenage acne nor mid-life acne either... so far.
yupper tyger it is
jac, I had such a smooooth transition...
my sympathies. they usually are, on the nose. really frustrating
jilli, you don't know how lucky you were
oh joy, the boys are playing xbox... so much for my discovery chanel day
If anything, my skin is dryiing out! I've got through more pots of moisturiser n past 2 years than ever before.:((
yes I do
esp with a honker like mine
what are they playing, mrp?
i think it's stress
please tell me these are clues and we aren't talking about actual zits
jac, do you take any supplements (aside from vitamins)?
could be, ren
thank you. for some reason when i tried to enter it before, it wouldn't take it.
sorry jen.
they are playing 'paintball'
jilli - you've not been plagued with night sweats on the hour every bloody hour then? Nor hot sweats just as about to pay at supermarket checkouts?
we're talking real zits
fraid not, Jen
seems paintball would be more fun on the Wii
That hilarious Nat Geo show I was enjoying was on our BC equivalent of PBS, the Knowledge Network. We are SO lucky to have it.
if they had their way, they would be playing Halo... but it would be over my dead body!
yw, bb
roomie has halo, it's kinda neat.
next?
I gotta go take pills & eat snack pretty soon
hi babblebuds
hi cathy
howdy, Cathy!
I can't believe the problem I'm having changing my icon
tyger - I think we've had this convo before? Sage - zilch. Red clover - zilch. Black Kohosh - zilch for the short time I tried it before I realised it can cause liver damage. I'm now on soya milk.
first fe5.26
fe5/26? i'm pulling my hair out!!!
zilch.. so far.
I agree dcs, it is a good game! but not for an 8 year old boy who takes life literally!!
nope, jac, not with me. for the dry skin, I'd try taking flaxseed oil
fe5/26, sort of like what you do to milk to make ice cream
I've uploaded a new one twice, and 2nd time, I refreshed until it showed the new image
with that i do agree, mrp!
mrp! how the heck are you?
tyger - you sounded just like Alex Harvey then when you said, 'Next?'
Guitar Hero is fun
flaxseed seems to help my skin, jac... plus, better moisturizer.
LOL
ef6 please?
bbnaz! good thanks! am ready to send lickety to you!
fizz, f + double vowel + last letter in alphabet + 2nd vowel
what is guitar hero??
Cathy, an ef6 man is rather swishy
heehee let him know that it is still hot here in the desert
cathy, e + double letter + alien dude + 2nd vowel
Guitar Hero is a game using guitar-like controllers, where you play along with what's on the screen. DDR with Guitars, basically.
bbnaz, is better than the hell I am putting him through LOL
doesn't flax seed make you have....er....a bloated tum tum?
what the heck kind of word is that?!? thanks, lbd.
okay dc, still struggling there. and guitar hero is a hoot
thank u lbd and seain
ef6: ef + they put a **nce around the yard + my favorite sports **am is ...
how are YOU and your arm doing?
no, ren, i eat flax severaly times a week.
glad to help
rennie - flax seed just doesn't hang around long. high fiber.
fiz, your guess is as good as anybody's. weird word
flax seed also best veggie source of omega fatty acids.
fe5/26: 1. a state of vexation or worry. 2. a violent rush or impact.
i think i may have to work it into daily conversation.
fe5 means a violent rush or impact
I just take the flaxseed oil
i eat flax everyday and by mid afernoon my jeans button pops open...hmmm maybe it doesn;t like me
YAY for me! I did today's grid without using the chat clues....only Lickety's list.
I make a flaxseed oil martini on fridays
jac -- I barely noticed menopause -- no night sweats, no nuttin', no periods, was on ancient birth control pills back in the sixties...lucky me
lol
very good, moon
whoooo hoooo AUTUMN
Link for 'Next' by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqx5j-F uqeI
yay autumn moon!!!
yay, autumn
hahahah ruru

my arm is definitely a separate part of my body now... does it's own thing! my arm has tourette syndrome!
I can't do that well
ruru!!! FLAXSEED martini!!!! That's not a martini!
mrp! lol
really, MrP?
Yeah - lucky you, jilli. Hope I don't follow my Mum since she still has night sweats at 72.
drft
sorry
ruru, you jest about the martinis?
OMG jac!
Thanks Dawg....now I really have to get back to my sewing
I was just jumping in on the miracle of Flaxseed
lol....
I hated the Alex Harvey Band in my teens... I've only come to kind of understand them in my 40's/50.
ahhh, but the miracle of a martini... a Bombay Martini....
heh :)
yes, it does what it wants at the moment... will pick something up and it just drops it! or I try to reach for something and it goes in another direction whilst making obscene jestures AT me!
ooooooooooh
Listening again, no, I still don't like them.
Jac, maybe because I've had various surgeries and pills my estrogen is shut off somewhat?
LOL, jac. why subject yourself to listening, then?
have you seen your doctor, MrP?
jilli - Mum has a friend who's 81 and she still has night sweats.
ooh, forgot you'd had the injury
mrp, have you tried meditation, message, and physical therapy to better integrate it, or is this a normal part of the healing?
mrp - don't point that arm at me! *ducks....
Mrp -- what a weird experience! But how's the pain?
massage, not message
lol dc
tyger - I got reminded of a song by a post on here, founfd the song on youtube, listened again out of interest and then still found that I don't like the band.
maybe armoma therapry
Oh crud
I am seeing the surgeon at the end of the month... will certainly be asking 'who's arm' i have! LOL
oh. somebody (was it you?) said I'd reminded them of him, saying "Next?" I hadn't a clue who he was
i tried messaging her arm, but it never replied.

so, you guys ready for turkey day?
i work that night, leave for a convention on Friday morning, and am having thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant in Timonium, MD on Friday. :) You ,tyger?
I went out earlier looking for an UNbasted turkey breast (will be just 2 of us - my son & I, and neither of us needs the extra sodium)
timonium? that sounds like something radioactive ;)
dare say the name's Latin :)
any luck, tyger -- seems they all are basted these days.
not so far, but I haven't given up yet. even fresh had 3%
Timonium is just south of Cockeysville and Hunt Valley, right where I-83 hits the Baltimore Beltway. PRobably latin.
and they wanted $3/pound for it
es7,28 clue please?
sounds like the meerkat in lion king's residence
es + sweet tr5
thanks dc
es+ trick or *****
tyger, is there a natural food store near you? They may have unbasted.
es + what you give a dog who just obeyed a command
so hard to find the good stuff - maybe orgasm - I mean, organix?
st6/27 and st7....after what u do when u drive a car?
a pat on the head?
no, DC. I live in the boonies, so to speak - nearest big city is New Orleans, ~200 miles away
no, dawg, you give it a ***** (goodie)
add an extra vowel to the crocodile hunter's first name
maybe soak the breast like you would a VA Ham?
ooh...just monkeyed those st's (6 and 7)
don't think so, DC
did you do it from your fighter jet, cath?
DC, it's not a ton of salt, but soaking it in water would be bad for flavor
wa6, 48?
ham has strong flavor. turkey is more delicate, esp. white meat
good point, tyger
te6,18 (both)
different ending to wa words just above
dimminuitive of the 4/14 above it, angel
wa 6/48 is a cutesie ending on the wa 4/14
the last st7/40 please?
te6 totter
wa6/48 - substitute a vowel for the L in the word for - not pancake, but wa****
thanks!
last st7/40, plural of the 6/27
thanks for the fish, dc.
last st7/40 - what a fighter pilot does with his guns to an enemy
yw, angel

yw, guys
cathy, do you have the st7,44?

st6/27, past is 7/44, plural is 7/40
clue for te6/18 (after golf te*s)
te6 totter, momo
plural of that, instead of past tense

I was, shall we say....distracted, ren?
hahahahah :)
Mom5, in WW2, fighter pilots st7/44 German cities
past tense of 6,27 above
don't have that either
st6/27: st + I **n to the store to buy food + * **d it to my family

yw, jes
I can try again, if needed
the 2nd te6/18 please? not the seesaw one

good, glad you got it, mom5
thank you tyger....never heard that one b4
yw, cath
now need the other st6 and st7 (after male cow)
st6 rhymes with not in danger, momo
i didn't know that word until this grid.
got that one
on, my bad.
1st se6/7 pair is an old-fashioned word for couch
and plural
st6/7 after male cow - add vowel to crocodile hunter's name
oh, I clued the wrong one, too :(
Good luck with your last few, momo...the 13 year-old is asking to be tucked in! An opportunity not to be missed.
*double* the croc hunter's vowel
thanks!
yw, but DC did the heavy hauling :)
If you refresh your page you can get a preview of our icon for tomorrow -- the little angel took the picture.

ok, caught up on the clues. anyone have re5/10?
nova scotia tyger!
momo, re4/4 is a nap or break, double the vowel.
I've a friend who's from there
what kind of word is that?!
re5/10 + it says cockadoodledoo....but change the vowels
lol
one of my fave musicians, Mary Jane Lamond, is from Cape Breton.
where in NS is your friend from tyger?
my NS friend is currently in Rome, tho
Mary Jane Lamond? hmmm...is she with a band? or on her own? name kind of rings a bell...what kind of music seain?
oh, drat, I can't recall. It's not something we ever talked much about
clue for the first fi4/10
Scots music, on her own, thouh she has back-up band, and has worked with others.
well...when u talk to your friend again tyger...I'm from Truro, NS
Scots Gaelic, more specifically.
Celtic kind of music? lots of that around here
I owe him an email, fershure. Can't afford to call very often, even with a good cheap 10-10 number
lol....brob from cape breton, your friend tyger
oops *prob*
he's got relatives all over - he was an only, but his dad was one of 13!
tyger, use skype to call whoever you're wanting to talk to
yes, tons of celtic stuff up there.

sorry, i meant the first FI4/10
i've never used it for a land line call, so i really can't give an opinion
fi + **ervescent
he's a priest, and is a senior administrator for the church in India
alt spelling of the flute, momo
a small kingdom is called a fi**dom
momo, think of armies with fi** and drum
the first fi though, reverse the letters of tyger's clue
some are talking about seigneurs; others about martial musical instruments :)
i think tiger's clue is the 2nd fi4/10

no worries, i immediately regretted my mistake - it's not often I am somewhere where that would matter but this is surely the place!
A reasonable 271 would be my prediction...

198
lol, I just can't afford to spend a full day on a puzzle
198 is my guess
nawww...sundays are usually (tho not always)...smallish. i say less than 100
