yeah, it's generally slow enough one does got ot feeling like that :)
hi dcseain
why isn't "pulling up unwanted plants again" a word?
eeped is so a word--it's what the little girl did when she saw the mouse!
howdy, Temple
yw

YEA HK!! I knew you could

nan, could it be the seasonal ones?
i was thinking they all started the same way - rigid thinker here
well, if internet isn't in the dictionary I guess I shouldn't have hoped urls was
thanks, fran :)
lol jilli!
bottom row grey -- ty fran
urls is acronym -Universal Resource Locator(S)
yw jes, nan!
yeah, dc, but Enable takes sysop :P
um dc, sysop?
we get lots of acronyms here
internet is an acronym too - for How To Waste Your ENtire Day Pplaying Word Games
valid point both of you, but as jlll pointed out, no internet :P
internet is still considered a proper noun by some, as is "web" as in the world wide web
ROFL ata!
LOL ata!
lol atalante!
interweb is a word in my world
and intraweb
intarwub!
i see Web capitalized in places. this is not something i would do if i were the eidtor, of course
w/u there, gwen
not to mention the apostrophe on the word 'Net
(editor) she meant
brb
anyone found the 7's yet?
Hello Fellow Babblers
i have the wh7
hk found a wh7
wh but not the other one
or a, depending :)
face it. computer conventions (of spelling, etc) are taking over. in some cases this is very bad, like when videos that start with a number are not correctly alphabetized at the video store . . .
i have a wh 7
weed
smoke it, atom!! LOL
lol
yes, numbers collate after letters, or as if they wer spelled out, depending on convention
uh dude wrong spot...
lol
we have great fun in an online encyclopaedia I work on with letters like AE because sql doesn't recognise them, or misfiles them
ty -- got it
the "correct" method is to allphabetize them as if they were spelled out. but computers can't do that so they get arranged according to the "computer alphabet"
here, those are long deprecated, so likely why sql chokes on them.
yw... anyone find the other 7 yet?
he7
hi fiber!
the newest version of sql was meant to correct the issues, but oh nooo
hi,
hi, fiber
hi fib
i have a wh 7
Hi, all! The wh7 isn't in my puzzle.
ty
ty
ty
nor mine ; )
oops sorry for the burp
then there is the problem of computer giving importance to a comma (or whatever) in a title and mis-alphabetizing due to that
got the he 7
hah! found the 8s :)
indeed so, gwen
so, who is gonna clue me the 7s?????? 8-)
you go, ruru
apostrophe, more likely
go jes go!!
i hate how MS organizes number in most cases
29 left here for tomorrow - which will be way more manageable than 98!
not me, gwen, i don't have 'em
how is everyone tonight
good nite everyone :)
g'night, HK!
night hk!
smashing, atom -- thanks for asking
tired and frustrated, as usual, smasher. but it's a good tired and frustrated :)
night, helen
g'night, hk. sleep sweet
good atom!
much better, thank you atom
think cried with an extra letter
ta, Helen
ty for he 7 found it
do you, by any chance, know any tricks to get round the AE issue in sql, dc?
we 8
is ur DB set for UTF-8? That fixes a world of issues.
re 8
and the ne 8 too, ruru.
i'll check
yep.. got all three now thanks
thanks joey
ween
there should be "peahen"
i have wh 7, what is the other 7?
peehen is there -- I am just visualizing that...
he7
peahen
was a joke, jes
not a very tidy hen
sorry, erda, didn't see fiber's comment until after i typed that in
<---- is slow sometimes
ty
uric chicken?
yup
do chickens pee?
birds don't pee exactly. they have only one chute, so it's a combo operation
they're birds, so they eliminate, rahter than pee/poop - i forget the term for the combined
it's called urates in a bird, not urine
ah -- live and learn
ty, jes
25 for tomorrow -- good night, all :)
they peep
g'night, nan
night Nan
pee + poop = peep
try cloaca
the urates and feces come out together, but are actually separate things. so if you look at the droppings on your car, the white stuff is the urates, the black/brown/green is the feces.
now aren't you all glad to know that?
I accidently got the wh7!!
thank you for sharing that information jes
oh, cool, jes! i always wonderede
go, fiber!
Gosh -- look at what I started!
glad i could help ;)
what lovely coversation when i am having my brekkie :)
33 to go
so that's why birds are always peeping! lol
aww, squidgy--don't worry. it could be worse!
But now I know one more thing I didn't know before!
Back tomorrow. Thanks, all, for all the illuminating!
yes, i am a veritable fount of useless information ;)
g'night erda!
have a good night, erda :)
and bird and bat guano is very nutrient rich and a wonderful fertiliser
Night, dc, jes, omnes
then my car should be growing grass
very true, ata. though coffe grounds or tea leaves ar better fore the azaelas
a good first step to lientery pate too
if you put seeds in the bird droppings, it might, fiber :)
indeed so, babrab. hello
you need to start feeding all the birds around you some nice fish every day
guano know better
i just need 1 more dumb w.. can't find it
big doings in Bali in December

night book!
goodnite Book
lol, yep the problem wound up to be very simple
after my hubby took almost everything apart, somehow the audio file was put on mute lmao
meanwhile, i got kicked off the internet for half an hour!
odd words for me were the ae 5/12 and di 6/21
wow! is it due to weather?
I think our internet server must be updating to fiber optics; last month I convinced them to give me $12 credit because of all the hours we lost; now last night, it started again...
Fran, you still there?
well, need to go try to get comfortable... sleeping on a blowup tonight at my daughter's ... have a great time all~~~

goodnight all
night flosey!
nite flosey
Fran, do you know why your internet svc keeps getting interrupted?
ooooh, just got the ae5, 3 to go
night flosey
and I'm really gone this time
they said the signal from my modem is not in the right range, so they have to check wiring and possibly put a booster on my line.
night jilli
i thought that's what they did on Wednesday, but I guess it didn't work
the tech said they have to try different things, i guess troubleshoot to find the right solution.
hmmm, why not give new modem then?
it's more likely the wiring and stuff going to the modem
brb, water boiling
i brought that up when i called tonight muse and they didn't think it was the problem
hello everyone
hello mb
hi miss
Hi Miss Babble
wb lynxxx
hi mymusieisme,frangmag and lynxxx

goodnite Mymuse
hey, peeps
hi all!
Hi Tyger
does anyone know of a word list that includes the word "attrite" from yesterday's grid?
hi tyger!
hi mva!
what do you mean, tyger?
it's in morewords tyger... www.morewords.com
having troublee entering words, any one have similar?
Hi MVA & Ata
probably the 2:00 hiccup mva
dictionary.com too. all dictionaries LOL
CLues for the first he4, 5 please?
It was just the 2.00 o'clock hiccup Ata
oops meant MVA
hi all
wow, the site is sloooooow - or at least it's responding very slowly to me
I can he** you Xanika
it keeps aying try again in a minute but by then i've forgotten the word!!!
Pass me the fish :)
ty lynxxx
really? I didn't see it there! :)
i just tried it in morewords tyger
that happens to me all the time mva!
thanks, fran :) now I know my sight is going! ;)
it's a stupidhead word anyway tyger. :-)
babble blindness is well known :P
good morning all.......
hey, it's ata, the masked bingoer! :-)
I agree with you, fran. without monkeying, I'd never have gotten it.
hey, flask
hi flask!
Hi Flask
loool fran
that skill seems to have deserted me at the moment
sigh. back again.
hi again dc!
i just realized my icon is out of theme, brb
hey, DC
hi, Tyger, ata, & flask :)
aw, whats wrong DC?
going to come back later, bye!
later, mva
later MVA
bye mva!
we've a new person on the level above me, who doesn't fully know what she's doing yet, so i just spent 35 min walking a customer through their job. :) Happily, customer knew computers generally, which made it as easy as could be for a noob.
ciao, MVA
congrats, DC. that's a miserable position to be in. my favorite author themed one whole novel around the hazards of having people train their bosses
see, they can't do without you DC. How much longer - 2 mths?
neat, tyger
you're changing jobs, DC?
how much longer before...?
I thought you were leaving? or is it just these shifts?
I was about to go, but now I'm waiting breathlessly to learn what's going on! :)
if all goes well, by spring i'll be back on days. which will do wonders for my sleep. :)
i'll babble less on days though, as day shift is busy
and will give you a different boss, I trust?
plus, i like the chat better at night.
but you can babble from home, can't you?
no, we all report to one person. i'm actually lead on my shift.
yes tyger, and i do.
so we won't lose you, dc?
whoopee! more sympathies :(
no, jill, but you may see less of me when i change back to day.s
hey, jilli
so you'll still be stuck with the newbie boss you're training
hi tyger -- I've been in and out and now must go beddy-bye. 23 left for the morrow.
I'm about to go, too. :)
oh when i say 'level above me' i mean the level 2 helpdesk for trade users :) we're equals, if on different levels, as she's my escalation point.
sleep well, jilli!
they deserve to lose you to a more percipient org, DC
any clues for ho5/12 please?
later, jilli
I want to see fran's new icon -- she alsways picks such interesting ones!
ho + cyber***
ty, jilli, i always forget that one
TY Jilli too
maybe flask doesn't know her, though...
yw
flask, it's like a region/cuisine of china
back!
I have it thanks DC........Yes of course, I know her, thankyou!
thanks for the ho5!
it's "a pongee fabric made from the filaments of the wild silkworm. "
well, since there appear to be no dire - or wonderful - revelations in the offing from DC, I'm outta here.
nytol
a good morning all
g'night tyger :) no, nothing major on my side right now
I waited to see your icon choice, fran -- almost picked that one too, lol!
sprite! ((hug))
hi sprite!
sprite!!! Hey! How was holiday?
morning Sprite!
i was going to use one like yours jilli, but couldn't find one that was square. :-)
we missed you, sprite!
Spriteeeee!!! Hi, did you have a good time?
absolutely lovely, dc! Have been too much enjoying myself to really miss you, but coming back is like a warm bath :D How are you guys doing?
sprite -- don't worry about the K -- no words from it :D
ah, jilli, good! As far as Ks go, that is a good K ;)
so now I'm off to bed for sure -- night all -- *poof*
night jilli!
where'd yall go, sprite?
sweet dreams, jilli, and sleep well! *hug*
yall of us went to Ameland, dc, a dutch island. 5 friends in a cottage with sauna and swimmingpool, playing the transformation game and having a special and great time. I feel like it has been at least 3 weeks. Even if it was only 5 days :)
how very lovely! :D
sounds like just what you needed
oh yes, it was! For all of us. We booked for next year on the last day, no doubt in anyone's mind!
and how is life in babble land?
hm. i wonder who yokowong776 will prove to be.
pretty well. My elder cat has a cone on, and has antibiotics due to recent vet trip. though his mouth is healing, unhappy as he is.
i feel guilty going to work, but alas, i need money for him as well as me. :)
LOLL dc, of course you do, and he will be fine. He is lucky to have an owner that takes care of him so well. And I don't know any yokowong... new babbler?
sharing a youtube vid w/me whoever it is. :)
i know enough people, or am known by enough, could be right near anyone :D LOL
oh, lol, on facebook? I haven't opened it yet, if I go there, I am afraid I won't play babble for a long time ;)
Lots of new Babblers from Tangleword - which is dead to their distress
sprite, i can only imagine how many notifications and invitations you have by now!
mayhap. i'm making nearly as many random connections on facebook as i've made on LJ. Little harder to get to know people well on facebook, though time will likely make me reconsider that
argh, I see, that is really frustrating for them. Dead as in forever?
very true, lynxxx
seems so, sprite
I am really sorry for them. Can you imagine Babble going dead on us? *shudders*
oh, the K gets used :)
Yes, apparently the crowd that took it over a while ago is no longer supporting and referring them to other games
iWin told helenkeller today that they will have no more classic games.
why, so it does, thanks dc!
What three-syllable word was combined with the word icicle to coin the word popsicle?
yw, fran. it took me by surprise!
lollipop, I think
and hi BabbleRabble :)
hi babrab!
Answer: lollypop The name popsicle was coined as a trademark in 1923 by Frank Epperson of Oakland, California. He coined it by contracting the phrase lollypop icicle.
Hi BabRab
dea n
I am sorry... hit space by accident in the middle of the word
is that someone we should know, sprite ?
out of practice sprite? :-)
morning babrab.....
seems that way, Fran, LOL. dc, I am sorry, what do you mean?
what did I win, BabbleRabble? ;)
i was mocking ur mistake, that's all :)
The word cryometer is to cold as what word is to hot?
argh... ok *feels adequately chastised*
thermometer?
thermometer?
Answer: pyrometer Cryometers measure very low temperatures; whereas pyrometers measure very high temperatures. The former derives from the Greek kryos, frost; the latter from the Greek pur, fire.
ooh, we're both wrong!
but in unison, as usual :D
yay! found the mosquito for firewords :)
you both are gollywhoppers
yay dc!!!
morning all
congrats, dc
easier grid today
hi lshult!
wtg dc! *looks up gollywhopper to see if it is a compliment or a criticism*
hi Ishult
morning, ishult!
fireworks
congrats, xanika!
nice one Xan
Congrats DC - and Xanika!
yay xanika!
flip
i totally forgot hah
hi carra!
Hi Fran!
Hi Carra
congrats, Xanika
Hi Lynxxx!
wtg Xanika, hi carra
Hi Sprite!
hello, carra
Hi Dc!
Wish I could get back on my schedule... i havent been able to go to bed lately.. i try and i lay in my bed for like an hour or more before falling asleep lol
something changed recently, carra?
is "fozy" a dutch word, sprite?
only 24 left to find, but only just found my 1st 7 (wh7/56) and still no 8's?
no.. its probably just a little stress
no, I am sorry, BabbleRabble, it is not.
ishult, once you find one 8, you'll get them all :)
TY DC, that clue made me find my third
superlative words grace the grid
how many words.. so far i have 61
pretty intense profile story today, BabbleRabble. Scary for sure.
126 carra, almost half way!
126 words
thanks
and it is quite predictable that each time you find a word there is one less word to find
unless the word you find is A. a phantom B. one you already had.
LOL (to both of you)
or it says its not a word when it is :)
ah well, that would be evil!
I can't believe reWe4/9 is not a word. If there is one thing we have to do over and over and over again, it is reWe4ing our gardens.
you and jilli both sprite
ah, that is a consolation... it is always nice to know jilli and i are of one mind :)
babble is not a game of words; it is a process of filling slots .... and the word police is a martinet
LOL, so true, babrab :D
only too true!
lots of re+ words are not in Enable, sprite. Enable hates us.
another astute observation babrab! :-)
I try to be too spiritually evolved to hate Enable right back, dc... *grumble grumble harharharrrr* Would kicking it count?
Hi
hi lady
I have fun with the indignation over stupid words; or weird words
each word at one time served a purpose
SPrite Mr Pres says Hi and I hope you had fun
wb, lady
even if fleetingly in a manuscript 600 years ago, via the Italian
ah, thanks lady!
even a nonce word
oh, I agree, BabbleRabble, but it is so wonderful to be able to grumble at Enable and not to be alone in that :)
okay, that's it!!!!......I'm still no closer to finding those 8's!!!!????....can someone point me in the right direction???????plz??????
we8 - the most we*** yard
Did you have fun MR pres
the garden with the most unwanted plants in it, Ishult!
Sorry sorry I was thinking of the Mr Pres. Sprite did you have fun
ne 8 the indigent
oh, sprite, mrp & lickety did not sell, as best price was 50k below reserve.
Thank you DC
ne8 the person that keeps on wanting things to be provided for him
re8 - the most overgrown swamp
got 'em
hi infernal!
the rexiest
omg... I am so sorry, dc, for them! Will drop mrP and Lickety a note today.
argh, BabbleRabble... that is not like you to put a word so close to the grid one in a post!
whant to kick myself in the head, tried every other ending but that one!!!!
LOL Ishult... babble blindness... SOOOO common! No reason to kick yourself.
the 8s were in my last 15 words, ishult, know how you feel
Hi Fran
only need 19 more now, but i thoink i'll take a break and same them till later, thanks guys, later
bye Ishult, see you later!
a long time ago i clued that ending
speaking of rexiest, i have a friend who spends some of his days photographing British Post boxes.
ciao, ishult!
MRP was saying last nite they were happy to wait for the price they wanted...Lady luck has been smiling down on them
for that, i am more happy than i can say, lynxxx. I'm glad they have the option of waiting
the wisdom of your words is never in question, BabbleRabble... just the ripeness of us babblers to digest it!

LOLLL BabbleRabble :)

ae mosquito, sprite
ah, thanks BabbleRabble... so that is why I couldn't find any spelling of the ts bug that took.
thanks dc :)
already had that one... forgot the meaning, LOL
I have been in the penalty box so much later, the word elders were threatening to charge me rent
*grins widely at BabbleRabble* Good thing is though, that this rent is always payable in natura.
I changed my icon
that is so you, lady :)
sweet one, lady

yes.....but I just got back from New York !!!.....that makes it special !
ah, i see! didn't realize you were over here. :)
only for 5 days, but a great 5 days
NYC is fun to visit. I'd not want to live there, though.
perhaps not at my age now, but I love it
that was my third visit, and I would still like to go again
next time you're going do let me know. I have 3 pages of restaurant/bakery recommendations from a friend of mine. Wonderful places, if not always the least expensive, not usually the most expensive either.
that would be good dc, thank you
back for now! *hugs* around for my dear fellow babblers I had not yet greeted after my short holiday
*hugs sprite* welcome back
I feel so good today... I just organised the whole weekend for us all. It is awfully busy for all 4 of us and I just found a way to fit it all into 2 days and keep free time for all of us... without panicking!
bananas
well done, sprite! always a challenge that with a family.
it has been a very long time since I have done anything like this without panic. It is definitely a good sign! :) Thanks for letting me feel you care, dc :)
i do, sprite. the energizing time away indubitably helps
for sure! Isn't it great :D And now to take it easy and not go thinking I can do it all again from now on, but taking it one step at a time, LOL... but I think I can do that.

ciao, sprite!
Bye Sprite, welcome back!

Morning, dsceain, though it's more like the middle of the night here...
i must away now, as shift turnover will take longer than usual today. T'was an exciting night. Catch yall later! Hope all of yall have a great day/evening/night.
ah AK or HI, jan?
Bye, dcseain.
oh, could be west coast, just as easily, i suppose :)
Actually seattle...
good morning everyone.
cool. Well, catch you another time :)
hi, and bye, eva! {poof}
Hi Eva.
and poof to you dc
big storm supposedly headed this way.
I need one more, then I can go back to bed. It's the de/4 just before the plural of the morning moisture.
Snow or rain, Eva?
could it be what one writes on jan?
They're predicting up to a foot of snow tomorrow night
OK finally got it. Taking a fish on up to bed... Thanks Eva.
the piece of furniture that is
yw. Sleep well
We're supposed to get snow today too. Though not anything like a foot. And Sunday is going to be warmer and rainy.
So, is this the first big snow of the season, Eva?
Any clues needed before I turn in?
need a clue for the 7 (I have wh7/56)???
Colored hair red...
thanks jan, had it(He5, but not the past tense)!
It's always unexpected to see a past tense of a word ending in a vowel.
NIght all...back to bed. Happy babbling.
Hi
Is anyone here?
I'm here
one eye open
lady, I am doing my search quietly, you are not alone
neid
Ok
I'm here too

I be fine, just not awake yet
I'm fine. Just dashed into town and did some Xmas shopping before the crowds got there.
Sorry Inge

Hi herin and all...I'm not here really....I'm wrapping !
i think it was back in june.

Ok

haven't been doing this much longer than that
Hi Karys and esprit and blue

Blue IF you need help there is Lickety's babble clues and Angelsongs Resource page. Also there is the help button up the top
herin...you were supposed to say 'oh, well done karys'....or something like that !
Little i seem to remember when you were non pro
thanks! i'm sure i'll need it
Krays you wrapping presents for christmas? That is early
probably, l just started doing this sometime over the past summer
only 24 shopping days til Christmas
blech
I am being good arn't I...?
i'm military. that would be 23 days and a wake up!
Sorry i was contemplating the shiner i just gave my self by slipping with the laptop (it was on my lap i am laying down it over balanced and whacked me in the face
lol littlebit
Yes Karys you are.
ouch
Ouch!!!
YOW
Esprit I got over Christmas on NOV the bleeding 4th when they put up the sodding tree at the store.
Yes owwee. I hope for a lump not a bruise
Iknow, decorations go up so early it's ridiculous
xmas...ick. i'm already sick of carols in every store i go to. somehow buying tooth paste, a loaf of bread and cat food for the boss doesn't bring out the spirit of the "holiday".
That is FAR too early. Ridiculous!
And then the crappy carols start
ooops..herin...you ok ?
Bonkler we will have hot cross buns on News Years Day and no im not kidding.
your boss eats cat food bonkler?
I've already received my first xmas card
I am ok. Just a common dumb mistake
i am in the employ of the being called iggy.
my sister has an iguana called iggy
I am expecting our first card any day now....we always have an early one from the same people every year
i got my first card the day after thanksgiving.
I am grateful i wasn't wearing my glasses. I could have broke them
people are crazy
people are crazy
I have looked for the de4/8 for ages. Any clues? Fancy being stumped on such a little word.
Erk Cards. I have to make and send mine which thus reminds me i need more sodding ink for the printer
you could have seriously hurt yourself if you had herin
you'll need a fish hydra, rhymes with opposite of "right"
More than likely dinted the from
right coffee break over...back in a bit
frame of the glasses i mean
I am going to send my own cards this year if i can print them
Oh! I'm so stupid Esprit. Just didn't see it up there. Thanks.
i've already begun turning down invitations for xmas dinners and such. december is the grit your teeth, it will be over soon month.
yw
Never knew it was a fish. Thought it meant quick and nifty
it's not a fish, just fishworthy for not finding
Christmas is sorted for lunch and tea we (the b.f and i) are invading his Aunts all day
That's some babble slang I'm not familiar with!
ooooohhhhhhhhhhh You get slapped with a fish if you miss finding an easy one
Now I see it. I shall slap myself in the face with a wet haddock forthwith.
gently tho
And I'll make sure it isn't frozen. Not like my friend who was presented with a frozen duck as his prize in a raffle, dropped it on his foot and broke all his toes!
Bonkler is iggy the pretty kitty in the icon?
Hydra that is a big oww
oh hydra!
that's her! she'll be 19 in january.
Awww pretty
He was a driving instructor too. Couldn't work for ages as he couldn't use the pedals!
I have a question for all you cat lovers
Fire away...
Yes
can a cat have a tail striped like a raccoon?
mmm
Yes
I saw a cat outside my house last week that looked like a normal cat with a raccoon tail
yup
yes a tabby cat would have a striped tail
looked really weird
Are you 100% sure it was a kitty not a coon as raccoons are nasty
Sounds like Fat Freddy's cat from the old cartoons! I loved that character
yes, it was definitely a cat
it was daytime, no mistake
I did see a raccoon last night tho too
I love Raccoons for the smartness
yes but they are destructive little buggers
Yes they are but the are hungry
clues for the 7s?
Wh7
hmmm, anything to do with the round things under a car?
no other directs
past tense of wh 5/22
okay, i'll be looking for the 5/22 then lol
go towards the chat not away

Hi from a very wet and windy Cornwall!

Congrats Inge, I take you are in line for the snow storm?
Hello JFB

The second one.

snow storm here tongiht and tomorrow. Bring your snow boots and mittens everuyone
Hi JFB. I'm heading your way on Thursday. Hope the weather will have improved!
Be careful going out, Inge.
hydra... se5/12....a brown colour, is that the one ?
second se 5 only changes the fourth letter
Thanks, Karys.
a tone sometimes seen in old photographs.. se5.12
We very rarely get snow in the southwest of England
the brown color was correct, my clue is wrong
off to sudoku
Bye inge
bye bye Inge, take care. :)
I got it anyway, thanks.
bye inge, see you next time
how do licketyspilt's clues work? i'm confused
Yes, good luck, inge. Hope you don't get snowed in.
Blue, Lickety will give you the first 2 letters, how many letters are in the word and what the point total for that word is
it gives you the 1st 2 letters, how many letters and how many points
it tells you the first 2 letters of the word and gives you the total point value of the word. 5 letter words= 2x's the tile value, 6letter words = 3x's, etc
ohhh okay
Got my fireworks. Bye all. Enjoy! *poof)
Congrats Hydra. Have a good day
what a totally lovely video today- i have to remember to thank Nono for it... brought a whimsical smile to my face.
congrats

Anyone need a clue before I go off to cnquer Mt. Laundry?
how do you tell the ones still not found start with __ and have so many letters? I don't see that anywhere on my screen.
gary, scroll down to lickety's babble clues and click on that, it will give you the first 2 letters of every word

hey blue, yes, I am a tangleword refugee from iwin
Gary, you have to scroll down below the tile stats
OH, I wasn't looking at the other links, ty
yw
morning (or whatever time of day) everybody. Welcome Gary.
wow, just listening to NPR re online courses--didn't realize the opposite of "online" is "on ground"!
morning, bb and Une
hmmmmmm i would have thought it would be "on-site"
hey, annie!
i guess on-site in 2007 could mean "on the course website"
bbnaz, Bobby found some 4 letter words yesterday in the grid, he love to play
kinney comes in and says "oh, playing your puzzle?" or if it is the newspaper, she wonders if I am doing the crosswords. However, since today is 1 Dec, she is going to be jazzed about Christmas.
awwwww thats cute bb. is christmas a Big Thing for her?
fireworks sending me to the laundry, too - anyone need a clue before I scoot?

sounds like fun Scrabs
So, I don't have muc time this AM. I must draw cartoons and finish writing their induction tests.
this not your 1st time doing this is it scrabs ?
poor ladies!
No, we have ben doing this for several years and it is hilarious. We call ouselves the Tomfoolery Tennis Club. We have a Xmas party, a spa day in the winter, a summer party, and sometimes other activities. We have gone bowling, golfing, played croquet. And a great meal is always part of the fun.
sound like fun yearround !
No, Ata, it is fun, not torture. We salute the special aspects of their personality and/or tennis game. And we have helped and will help each other through life's challenges and diagnoses.
oh ok :D
good morning
I just woke up from a college dream--trying to decide on classes to take but getting lost on campus. I am glad that I am past that.

Just got called with a wrong number--some guy looking for Mary Lou. I am no Mary Lou.
no you don't sound like a Mary Lou either...
No, I am Scrabbler Lou.
lol
Oh, here comes the snow!!
don't ya just hate wrong numbers? I am so lucky as to have a number very close to that of a lawyer and a bowling alley...... have threatened to promise big settlements for the lawyer and take reservations for bowling lanes when i know they have no open bowling LOL
already came here scrabs - all white this morning !
ohhhhhh not already scrabs!
lol nono...
Good morning, all!
good morning Nonnie
Hi Nonnie!
'morning Nonnie !
snow started here about 7:45am
morning Nonnie
Haha, Nono. My number is one off from the large animal veterinary practice out here. So people often call with birthing emergencies for calves and foals, etc. I have thought about showing up at their farms as I am a pediatrician anyway.
Hello, montreal!
lol scrabs
Hiya annie, pab, nono and scrabs--and anyone I may have missed. Snow? Who has snow?
WE have snow and a snow advisory through tomorrow AM. Wahoooo for winter!
lol scrabs you could take care of the newborn for them
I wish we had snow. I love snow days :o)
here in Montreal, all white this AM under a beatiful sunny sky with minus 12 degrees ! who could ask for more ? ... well, maybe Nono...
Yes, I can take care of calves, foals, lambs, etc. Human babies are just the same, without as much hair.
thanks for excluding me montreal LOL
lol
We get yu k and ice. Snow is much better.
I used to date a vet and I explained that I am a vet for young human animals that also bite, kick, hit, pinch, spit, pee and poop on me and rip off my glasses.
hmmm...that was supposed to be "yuk"
nicely put scrabs !
I am a veterinarian for just one species of animal.
but at least they don't have to have Elizabethan collars to stop scratching :P
lol ata
Many should, Ata--we see infected rashes, picked-at sores, etc.
oh yes. but our hands are too clever. we get round these things
nonnie is your icon representing current conditions?
Actually for kids there are arm braces that prevent the elbows from bending. Parents get upset when hospitalized kids have them on.
but the collars could help us humans catch a signal from another alien species...
No, nono. No here :o( Our weather has turned a bit colder but no precip in sight.
I always have an aluminum foil hat on to protect myself.
I could have done with them! My mother used to have to tape thick mittens onto my hands to stop me scratching ezcema!
ah thank goodness for that nonnie,,, I fear we may have that ice by tomorrow night
same here Ata !
I have to get some things done--BBL
take care Scrabs have a great day
oh no, montreal :( I sympathise! But its nice to know I wasnt the only one!
later scrabs !
Oh no...not ice! We had an ice storm several years back that knocked out our power for a week! Some poor souls where without for nearly a month! I hope a pray yours passes quickly and without much aggrevation.
I can't keep typing montreal. What shortening of name do you prefer?
bye bye scrabs...have a wonderful day.
well Ata, it apparently lasted a full year until i got my 1st (and major) asthma attack)...
that sounds familiar. except I went to bronchitis for my childhood before switching to asthma
so do I nonnie in fact would prefer that it becomes a nonevent altogether
lou, luc, mont ...as u wish ata...
Luc then. I like that name. ANd there's a Luc in my favourite set of books
the local weather man this am said 1 to 3 inches of freezing rain ...... I hope he is wrong as he so often is
luc it is then ! - asthma took away my childhood in effect - it wasn't until i was 13 that i got the (in)famous allergy tests...
yes, nono... wrongness would be a good thing!
same here with bronchitis. I had very bad ezcema till I was about 4, and I mean about 70-80% body coverage, but luckily I dont really remember that. Then bronchitis till I was about 14. I was off school from about October - February nearly every year with stupid bronchitis attacks. Then asthma, and thats been the best of the three so far!
though I still end up in hospital nearly every year for a few days!
Oh, ata and montreal...I feel for you as my youngest suffers with similar conditions.
i think u had it worst then me Ata ((hugs)) - it took 4 and a half years of injections to de-sensitize me from all those allergies - have been asthma-free since the age of 18...
126 and FIREWORKS!!
oh no, you did! 4 and a half years of INJECTIONS!!
wtg nono !
congrats, nono!
yay Nono!
but at least Nonnie, there are some medications that one can take plus those inhalators - there was nothing in the olden days...
She was finally diagnosed with ichthosis vulgarus (I'm sure I spelled that wrong).
yes ata - 4½ years - once every week, then every 2 weeks, 3 weeks etc...
oh ick, thats horrid, poor girl
rockets here! and Nono, I love the whimsy of your video today!
Yes, montreal...she was put on the medications at an early age which helped her.
there is no *way* I could have done that, luc! my poor mother pretty much had to chloroform me to get me to the drs for any jab, let alone one each week LOL
congrats bbnaz!
wtg BB !!
thanks bbnaz and wtg!!
Ata, poor thing...are you still afraid of needles?
there was a side benefit for all those injections: i say bring them on now - cause i'm so used to it
well i must be off to do some puter maintenace Happy Babbling everyone
later Nono !
bye bye nono...have a great day!
and may no ice come your way...
not so much - well, I was never really scared of them. They *hurt*. And no-one believed me for years that they hurt more than anyone else's injections do LOL, then we found out I'm also allergic to some types of metal. Inlcuding the type they make hypo syringes out of. So any injection I have hurts for about a month or two afterwards. Great.
(((Ata)))
lol doesnt bother me now cos I'm used to it. But as a kid I was very unimpressed
For goodness sake! I'm so sorry for you...that had to have been awful.
it certainly wasn't fun. but it could have been worse
I try to remember that some things we have to endure during our childhood hopefully helps to make us stronger adults.
in some ways, i guess they do Nonnie..
I think it does. It all goes to make you who you are
help with the L, please i have le4/4 x 2

thanks Nonnie
you're welcome, pab.
tx Nonnie - "POOF"
Good day, all! Only starting here but had such a nice chat yesterday after long absence I just had to say hello.
hi weegee
hello weegee and welcome back!
hey, ata. saw your notes about allergy shots. I get 2 a week now, have for about 2 years, molds in one arm, the rest in the other. Hey, nonnie!
Nonnie: le5: take a four-letter word for Christmas, reverse it, then finish it with a vowel
really? Wow. You're brave :D
thank you, gwen
I hope you get good results with the shots, weegee.
You're welcome. And good morning, all!
NO, ata! Lost 6+ weeks of work and 250+ hours of accrued sick leave a couple of years ago. Haven't had so much as a sniffle since starting shots, also twice daily generic benadryl - doesn't make me sleepy like some; rather, hyper!
Hi gwen!
yes! I consider that very brave LOL!
OK, I'm outta here. My husband offered to make breakfast and I think I should give a little assistance ;O) Take care all.
For shots, I just close my eyes and think of England, lol!
oooh got those three 8's!
do you go to the drs or can you do them yourself?
doc's office. Not legal here yet to self inject, which makes no sense since people self-inj insulin when needed. I hope nasal sprays get approved soon
doc's office. Not legal here yet to self inject, which makes no sense since people self-inj insulin when needed. I hope nasal sprays get approved soon
sorry, system hiccup.... suddenly said "less than l minute left" ??!!??
and MS drugs. those can be self-injected
yup! system hiccup!
actually is that just in KY that its not legal?
all U.S.
how strange. you would ahve though a weekly thing could be self-injected. ah well. healthcare never makes sense!
at least no insurance co-pay or charge for office visits, injections or serums
as you said, roll on nasal sprays!
hullo. new one over here!
hi Dana!
hey dana
FIREWORKS!
confetti for Annie!
yay Annie!
hey Atalante, hey weegee. Annie, fireworks, you say?
finish puzzle & you'll see them, too dana
Welcome, dana!
Dana, if you pay the one-time fee to go pro, then when you have entered all the words in the day's puzzle, you see a firework display
thanks. 83 left to go. wheeee. this is gonna take long
Dana, you can scroll down to Lickety's Babble Clues and get the first 2 letters of every word in the grid
It will also tell you how many letters in the word and the point value of the word
or you can be masochistic and do it listless LOL
either way... is tempting. haha!
Yes, Atalante has a point there if you are inclined
Piles of laundry to do...anyone want a clue before I go?
all depends on your level of stubbornness LOL
Atalante, did you finish the grid doing it without the list?
not yet Annie, thanks tho
not yet ... 13 left!
go, Ata, go!
no clues, but I've got some laundry you can add to yours!
Wow! I got all the 8's without seeing any clues in the chat! What a nice way to start the day!!
yay gwen!
yay for gwen
good morning everyone. Yet I can see an 8 or the other 7 for the life of me
Are you asking for help, Hugs?
*can't
WTG gwen! Sometimes the eyes help the brain, sometimes the brain helps the eyes. Mine are both scrambled today. Hi huga!
ne 8 ---the most wanting
as are mine... my fingers aren't helping either. Hi weegee
and hugs, just change the first letter for the other 2 8's
Well, I think I'll save the last 25 for later. Hope you all enjoy!
thanks Annie
I have to leave too...be back later
Thanks! But even now that I've entered them my eyes can't see the curlicues of why they work :( Must need more coffee

I have the he7... clue for the other pls?
where does it tell ya how many words are left??
Hugs, are you asking for the sevens? I am not sure...
There is a WH 7 that is the past tense of the wh5/22
hi everyone, using a friends computer to be able to play on Saturday. how is everyone?
It sounds exactly like the past tense of having cried, but with an extra consonant!
Hi there, deb!! :-) How are you today?
thanks scarlet
You're welcome, Hugabugs!
can't get any of the a's... darn.
Dana, think of an assistant and plural for some of the Ai words
i'm good. was up at 7, cleaned house, took care of animals, and have found 95 words without the list. trying to use the list less
AE + ***mond Tutu
wow. thanks scarlet :)
Wow, deb... come on down here... I need help!
Great Dana... you're welcome.
The other ae word is AE + not off

Good morning, folks. Anyone else expecting snow today?
I'm good Scarlet... keeping busy, babbling but not always when you are. And how have you been?
maybe freezing rain
Hi, Pokey... I live in Asheville, NC.. I hope not! LOL
is that a spaniel in your pic, pokey?
You must be in the Iowa area, Debjed
I am well, and have been super-busy too, Dorens, but the one constant in life is the lure of Babble!
Missing 1 e - I have ea x 2; ee x 1; ef x 1; ei x 1; el x 1; ep x 2 and ew x 2... anyone know what I need pls?
Yes, that's my new pup, Max, Atalante
ES4/4
illinois, i don't think we'll really get it here
awwwwwwwww
thanks scarlet
that's my constant too scarlet... don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, sometimes
pokey he is so cute!
deb, I watched WGN yesterday concerning the Amtrak accident... it looked like two gigantic insects mating... glad it wasn't worse... I heard also that the Chicago area will get hit by an ice storm.
Max is 5 months old & his x-mas present will be getting neutered :)
Max is 5 months old & his x-mas present will be getting neutered :)
You're welcome, Hugs.
Thanks, Dorens...he's actually a pretty sweet little guy.
he's *gorgeous*
Anyone know exactly where the Amtrak accident was??
Right in the South Side of Chicago, Pokey
Cute pup. Is he a spaniel?
i hadn't even heard about the accident
Yes, he's a cocker.
yay for cockers :)
Aww. Sweet little guy.
Holy cow...I was on an amtrak last week...connect in Chicago
Deb, it was a slow motion collision with a forward moving Amtrak passenger train which impacted a parked freight train...
any casualties?
anyone...how many words total please?
And then the hostage situation with Hillary Clinton's campaign headquarters in Rochester, New Hampshire.... none that I know of, yet, deb... the worst injuries were from the Amtrak employees in the lead car...
126
126 words
ty
wow, i better catch up on the news today:)
LOL, deb! The NH situation finally was resolved many hours later when the man, who claimed he had a bomb strapped around his mid-section, surrendered to the SWAT team....
i have the wh7, clue for the other?
deb... color you hair with this, past-tensed
as for the last re word... sometimes I we*8 my garden, then have to go back nexxt week and do it again.. isn't that re****?
ty
i tried that too Dorens
i actually did get the right word, but I think they really don't have gardens (the enable folks)
LOL, Dorens.. there you go again, being logical... \
i know scarlet, something is wrong with me!
With ALL Babblers, Dorens... we ain't right
hi, clue please for le5?
The other day, I pondered a really oblique clue for a word, and Atalante immediately intuited it... that is not normal!
Think of the country, Sierra LE***
i'm not normal? *grins*
atalante normally intuits words normally.
*Grinning madly back* We know, Ata...we know~
one of my adverbs was supposed to be immediately
thanks, scarlett
thanks, scarlett
Adverbs be da****... it's Saturday...
You're welcome, emusing!
my daughter is actually going to that country later this month!
Wow... that is no cooincidence, emusing!
It's past midnight but I can't find myself to quit. I'm actually amused with myself now.
welcome to the club dana.... we don't sleep if we aren't done
Random thing *grins*
Dana... it's an illness...
where are you Dana? Aus?
And I think I've caught on.
The Philippines

congrats dorens
oh lovely! lucky you
sSSSSSE Michigan checking in briefly. We are expecting a huge snow storm tonight. Bring your mittens and snow boots to go sledding in Hines Park
i love sledding:)
Gee, SE Michigan looks like a snake
Someday I'd like to try that :)
Congratulations, Dorens... it was a zoomer today! Hi, inge!
I better change my icon to tomorrow's theme, since I can repeat last year's. Have not made a wreaty yte though. That is tomorrow
are you in Manila?
Yes. :)
Good Morning!
Good day to you, Merk!
I worked in Palawan for a few months, some of the happiest months ever!
Sounds amazing. I've been pestering my dad to visit Palawan since I haven't been there but I haven't had any luck with that yet. Haha!

Hello there, Lucien!! :-)
hi montreal
its amazing. utterly.
hello there Scarlet and Deb !
Now you've made me want a cup of chai, Luc... must make some NOW! LOL
I have soup. Chicken couscous
babbling without tea (or coffee) ?? not sure it can be done...
soup will do
but I always have tea at the flip
I have already had two cups of really strong brew... so, tea will be a more moderate taste now... Soup is always welcome... making split pea with ham, later on...
mmm my favouriite soup
*Sending cyber tastes to Ata*
Hello again. Is everyone making progress or done?
"intercepting cyber tastes from Scarlet to Ata"...lol

LOL, Luc.
We're having early lunch today...my bf is making brats (spicy italian)...I can smell them cooking & my tummy's growling now
It has been snowing at variable rates all morning, but is sunny and beautiful. I went out to fill birdfeeders and suet holders.
finally : top and bottom rows all blue-grey...
OK , this is a copy of my advents wreath. My stand is some 60 years old, the wreath I make tomorrow with greens from our yard.
OH! Then your back is feeling better? Good news!
I need help with the 3rd L word. I have King Le** and Robert E. Le* + plural
Scrabbler, we are getting snow tonight, and will send the left overs to you!
le5 - sierra le***
Oh, yes, Scarlet. I have played tennis 3 times since Sunday and am physically holding up well. Still some occ twinges of pain.
TY, Ata.
Think of the country, Sierra LE***
Very encouraging news, Scrabbler. Back pain is crippling!
*DUH* helps if I remember HOW to spell the country!!
Think of lion in Spanish, Pokey
The nerve pain was excruciating for a week or so.
or music from Sergio Le***
And yet you continued to work and function... another of Babble's Strong Women!!
The lone O--help please?
Sure, Luc... spaghetti westerns' best friend!
Yes, I am woman hear me roar!
Past tense of a reaction, Scrabbler

tx scar !
TY Scarlet!
:-) Luc!
Off to a pot luck party in Rochester Hills, MI. Also an auchtion of cryptanthis and bromeliads from a Chicago member now living in Florida and giving away all his plants. More than any of you care to hear, right?
YOu're welcome, Pokey!
That's a nice day, inge! Have a good time!

Snow is holding off until tonight-----------after the party.
about to start here (central WI)...converting to freezing rain tonight. fun & joy
is yopur other dog a cocker too, Pokey?
Pokey, are you a CheeseHead and Favre fan?
Yes, I also have a 12 yo named Annie. Completely deaf now and doesn't say too much either. Gets along with the little guy too.
No, not a cheesehead. I'm originally from down south, more of a Texas A&M fan :)
back from phone call, one left ho5/12. i am sure i will deserve a fish but am going blind. (pitiful combo , one-armed & blind) can anyone help ;)
darling girl! Yay, another babble spaniel fan :):)
Clued at 10:41, beth
Go Aggies!! Sorry about the coaching turnover, though!
These two spaniels are my second and third overall. I can't help myself...they're so sweet and gentle. Plus, they're the perfect size.

I agree. I have one (in my pic) and she's just a *joy*
TY TY scarlet fireworks
That's OK, the new coach is an old player from the early 90's if I heard correctly.

*Tosses roses and truffles to aching lady*
LOL, beth...
oooh chocolate yummy
beth, did you end up calling out for pizza last night?
yes we did sausage & pepperoni
Yes!! :-)
there is a limit to my good naturedness (?) hubby hasnt quite figured that the laundry, food, etc dont just magically appear when i twitch my nose so now am having to be very explicit in what i need help with
LOL... beth, welcome to wifehood... it is an unknown world to men, as a rule... but, if good intentions pave the pathway to heaven, my darling beloved is certainly going there!
husbands are not usually like that Beth !! i am surprised !!!
and shocked !!!
*giggling at Canada's sweetest man*
Luc, will you marry me?
"sending a flower bouquet towards Scarlet"...
yes montreal, and him an only child, you would think he had a handle on independence. sadly not so much
*Caught it, Luc*
sorry scrabs, already taken ...lol
Do you have a brother, perhaps named Jean Pierre or something similarly attractive?
as a matter of fact, i DO have a brother named Pierre !! also, Alain, François, Richard, Maurice, Marcel...
*laughing out loud now*
Voila! A whole bunch of French brothers for me!
not sure Beth that being a single child helps that way... we were 8 children... and me the eldest...
How many children in your family, Luc?
does anyone need help before i go chase parrot off kitchen table?
Eight--God bless for Mother & Father, especially your mother.
TY, Beth, I am slowly making progress here.
Go and chase parrots, Beth... good seeing you today... be well and rest that arm... Spring Training awaits! LOL
in olden days around these parts, it was not unusual at all - a neighbour had 21 children !!!
Urf...

Wow, Montreal Luc!
The largest natural family that I have met, had 18 children, all single births, no miscarriages, no deaths... Russian by culture.

have a great day Beth !
I used to practice in a rural setting which included the Amish population and one family was up to 19 the last I knew.
how long ago was this Scrabs ?
Sassy, the HE5/12 is a reddish color for hair, and then past tense it
sassy, think of a hair colour...
From '88-'94, with the Amish of Cherry Creek, Leon, South Dayton, NY. I loved taking care of those families.

i can't believe i'm stuck on these d#*% re's again after yesterday's puzzle!!
haz! we have another spanielette on babble :) called Pokey71, she has 2 cockers
Aha - another spaniel fancier? She shows good taste.
Is Pokey another Tangleword exile?
anyone have clues for the re5/10 and 6/18?
before i pull my hair out!!
re5/10 - add another consonant to the preceding re4/4, then plural it.
not sure where she appeared from, but she has a 5 month cocker and a 12 year old cocker. very sensible
(The last two letters could be short for a street or a saint, if that's any help, sassy)
A 5 month cocker would be lovely. I saw a baby springer the other day. Thought about kidnapping it from the owner, but decided against it.
thx so much, haz. i think i seriously have a hatred for re words after yesterday's grid
They were a bit disporportionate yesterday, I'll give you that.
I think I might have done. liver or black?
Liver. It had stopped in the street, obviously exhausted, and the owner swept it up in his arms. So cute!
darling!
I might have staged an intervention if the owner had been nasty, but he seemed to be caring!
good. we like caring spaniel owners
Have you been up to any artistic endeavours today?
oh yes. but its Secret
hello
Hello harpjane.
Oooh, Secret. Do we talk in hushed whispers?
too secret even for hushed whispers!
Gosh, do we need to speak in code? Or should it not even be talked about at all?
not to be talked about - yet :)
Afternoon, cats and kittens (and spaniels)!
fireworks finally - haven't had time to keep at it for a long time
Understood. Careless talk costs lives and mum's the word etc.
Good afternoon Judi - the spaniel greets you also.
Congratulations gracew4/8.
*Dangles chocolate in front of Ata* Talk! Talk!
noooooooo! you cannot make me!
Would you like some meringue with that???? BWAHAHAHA! Vee haff vays of MAKING you talk!
If Judi is the good cop, who's going to be the bad cop? 'Tell us, or the puppy gets it!'
dont like meringue! haha!
Nonsense. I'm always the bad cop. *Dangles chocolate in front of puppy*
clue pls for ae 5
Is it poisoned chocolate?
ae5 - has the same ending as the March date that Caesar was to beware.
Or, ae plus the start of Othello's wife's name.
Or ae plus what comes before Miserables on stage.
Scrub the last one.
That would make it Some Glums instead of The Glums.
hello everyone :)
Hello cybernan.
ty
Hiya, Cybernan!
couldn't monkey that one
You're welcome.
any clues for the se5/12 after "observes"
Nice husky, Tizer. We have one that looks a lot like yours.
se5/12 - old fashioned photographic technique/colour.
Sassy: se 5/12: brownish hue in olde photographs.
were those ae's clues haz? -- couldn't get any of them to work!
Yes, ae5/12 - last three letters was what I was cluing.
Oops. Upon closer inspection, realize tizer's dog is not a husky. Cute anyway, though!
ty,ty haz and judi
Last three letters of the date Julius was to beware and also beginning of Othello's wife.
oh -- last 3 letters, not the whole thing!
ty
No, just the last three, sorry, should have made that clearer.
sigh -- still 22 to go and going nowhere!
list time!
You're practically done, cybernan. One last push with the list.
And time I was heading to the kitchen to get some food made. Bye for now!
just found a word I know I entered last night, but wasn't appearing this am!
resistentialism is gone amok again in babbleland
just got fireworks
Yea for Cool Girl!
Good Morning all
Congrats, cool girl
Hiya, Doc.
G'd, DR
Hi Judi
phantom: ultroneous (a lot of that going around)
Thats a good one BR
yay, finished! thx all for clues. my free trial just expired, so no fireworks:( Guess I may have to go pro...i am definitely hooked!!
lol
WOO Sassy
Go ahead, Sassy. Buy into the addiction.
we8.65 anyone?
we8 is the most we4/9's
we8 builds on one of the we4s
it is a superlative
*!* ta da *!* -- was just missing some plurals, pt's and one I thought was a proper noun. :)
superlative 4/9
YEA NAN!! WOO HOO
well done, sassyB and cybernan
tks only 17 more to go
12 more here
anyone have a clue for di6?
never mind
found it
plural the di 4 -- I know it doesn't make any sense at all!
ty Nan-
any more clues wanted before I get on with my day?
a musical direction represented by a double daggar
nope- I'm good Nan
using the list
Yes, nan, is investing in porkbellies a good strategy now?
and what does the double dagger direct one to do, br?
have no idea, lol, -- my husband was the stock trader, not me!
it is a form of pause I believe
in all my years of music lessons and fiddling I didn't come across that one!
Me either Nan
wh7?
I will ask my Dad- he was a part time professional
wh7- past tense of the word above it
past tense of the wh 5/22, robo
thank you
weird word. does anyone know what it means?
no definition in enable, robo
maybe a hiccupy cry?
clue on that wh5/22 and also musical double dagger notation??
maybe
wh5 -- sound like to cry
are the two de4/9's related?
musical notation is pluralized di 4/5
the wh that means "few"... can't figure out how to past tense it...
di4/5... clue?
no harp
no harp -- one is what you sit at in school and the other is morning moisture(s)
jpb croaks exits bites it etc
di 4/5: expires
thanks cyber
oh like di++ ire... that one I have
so how do we get musical daggers ffrom that???
jbp becomes an ex parrot.... for the di4 one, just in case there are any python fans out there
Finished- going to start my day
a di 6 is a comma type of musical interval, usually meaning the difference between three justly tuned major thirds (tuned in the frequency ratio 5:4) and an octave (in the ratio 2:1), equal to 128:125 or about 41.06 cents. In 12-tone equal temperament, on a piano for example, three major thirds in a row equal an octave, but three justly-tuned major thirds fall quite a bit flat of an octave, and the diesis describes the amount by which they are flat.
congrats, DR
br said a word, br said a wooooooooooooord....
nice day in CA, DR?
ty BR- everyone have a great day!
well, almost
sounds like synonym for parish... also could be german neuter definite article?
wow... BabbleRable, that was quite the clue
it's a musical term you only use in the classroom, believe me!
Congrats DR
off to the penalty box with rent check in hand
enjoy the truffles and champagne in the penalty box, BR
ty BR --- followed the explanation, but now how it would be performed!
bye all -- back at the flip :)
cya, nan
sounds like a topic that would pop up on a theory exam
L... i have the jet and the icky dirty old man smile
clue on the 3rd one?
my theory would be not to take the exam
le 5 -- add uno
fireworks!
thanks BR

before I leave: Tyger I visited two zoo's this summer: St Louis Zoo and the Bronx Zoo in NYC...was amazed at the size of the Bronx and St Louis is a free Zoo...great take-in!
congrats tyger
thx, dan
Giving EvaNadine a wave!
I've never been to either of those zoos. I just love tigers. :)
hey all! how's this grid?
i just finished as well - we5 was my last - w + compass direction misspelled
Wave's to Haz et al. I'm a bit late starting today.
hey, feather. there are a few ugly ones, but not the worst
Hello Jacula - are you on the night shift?
yay, dan
hey, jac
EEK! Extraneous apostrophe alert. *Smacks self*
It's the time of year. Or maybe it's your age.
hi haz! hi jacula!
jac, it's the style (alas) of the times.
I am, Haz. Been busy but also saved grid as P's on a boys' night out.
I think you'll enjoy it!
Hello Eva - are you glad to see some familiar faces?
I'm sure I shall, Haz. 43 left to find and I only started 10 mins ago.
you're fast, jac
In the words of Simon and Garfunkel 'Slow down, you move too fast, you've got to make babble last'
Fast, moi? Don't let the fishnet stocking fool you, tyger. *grins*
Or words to that effect.
definitely, haz -- was starting to think i was growing invisible. ;)
LOL, Haz. Nice one.
well, you're faster than I am. Of course, you're also younger. :)
Eva, I was including you in the 'et al' but I'mm say a special hello to you. Hello Eva. xx
Enjoying the weekend, Eva? Did you have to stay late at work on Friday?
Hello all
yeah, a little late, unfortunately, but it was ok. :)
Hi, jilli.
Hello jillibus!
hey, jilli
hey all
back for a while
How was the show? (That's to jill.)
hey, praise!
That's no so bad. I had visions of you slaving away for hours.
jac, I love your wee bit o' scotland!
how's the RA today?
how is it going tyger?
doing pretty well
that is a cute icon, isn't it, jilli!
don't like this cold weather tho
I'm okay, a bit sleep-lagged, but I'll come awake eventually
lovely -- managed to noodle all 3 8-letter words on my own. *W00T!* now just gotta find the 7s...
jilli - thanks. There's a link to haggis cams & games, too, in my bio.
still having trouble sleeping :(
??
I'm just thankful to discover it was only a glitch this morning when my wireless keyboard & mouse didn't work.
always, praise. don't worry about it, please
k I won't
sorry tho
or was that you, too? if so, have you talked to Dr.?
haz -- yeah, came home + lay down for about 2 hours...was gonna just relax all night, but friends came over + i decided to go out with them. (just one beer, dont worry!) glad i went out + didnt waste the whole night...
well I do from time to time
The show was very interesting, funny and different. it was called Boney and the Billy Ruffians and was about plays put on by the crew of the Bellerophon when Napoleon was a captive aboard her.
hello, everyone! could someone help with le5/10, please?
have restless legs sometimes
hey, vanessa
african country sierra le***
le5/10: Sierra Le***
Sounds great, jilli. Hetty's so clever.
quoting dan, who now chimed in too
tyger, thanks! :)
I think I read they have a med for that now, praise
yw, vanessa
well I take a muscle relaxer
usually takes care of it
without dan's (and another kind person) help, I wouldn't have it, either :)
It was done by request of the Royal Navy and there was a Lieut-Commander present -- more to arrive for tonight's performance IF they can get here from Victoria -- big snowstorm!
I've got a muscle relaxer, but haven't been taking it lately. it never seems to help me a whole lot, but maybe it would now I've been off it for a while
Hetty must be so proud and excited, jilli.
Hetty is EXHAUSTED!
That, too, jilli!
jilli, Hetty is ???? (relative?)
BBS - laundry to see to.
The Navy chap had come over from England and is staying with Hetty. He has a marvellous singing voice and joined in the songs included in the performance -- also gave a sampling during the interval. Wow!
any hints for the S on the right or the Es in the row beneath it?
Let me have a look for you.
Eva -- one for an E is the duck
ew4 - a container
eva, there's a kind of sword - that's one of those e's
se5 - like the olde worlde photographs, where the women kept their clothes on, and lots of them.
oops, I gave a wrong one. it's a word, but not one you're looking for. sorry
I have a word for the S but can't figure our which one came from there
Haz haz it
only s -es I can be sure of are ones originating in the other one
thanks all!
LOL, jilli.
and who, please, is Hetty?
brb -- dryer calling
I'm back.
Hetty's a Babbler, tyger.
Hetty is Wonder Woman in disguise.
oh. okay. thanks
I couldn't figure out if she was a friend or relative :)
Eva, still trying to locate that other s, or have you got it?
have the photo-color one, but dont have the other...not looking all that hard though...heh
gonna break for food now -- STARVING!
for those e words, Eva, one of them refers to the letter E
se5/10 - plural of se4/4 , looking like a different rendition of a sea animal.
woo hoo...fireworks!!
I'm generally useless for things like figuring out which of several choices originated a given word. I just churn away at all of them :P
yay, pokey
Well done, Pokey.
Congratulations Pokey!
every one I get is a plus, doesn't matter where I found it :D
It only becomes meaningful, tyger, when you're asked for a specific location for a clue.
I know Haz. I was just trying to apologize for not being much help
It's okay, you've probably helped others get words.
I try to do clueing every day, when I can
I feel so indebted for the times when I need clues
and too often, when I need help, I seem totally brainless
29 to find and I'm slowing down now.
Sedate walk instead of mad dash?
Puff, pant... gasp... yes, Haz.
Company's just arrived, better greet them!
Wonder why you can't rewe4/9? My garden constantly requires it!
dunno, jac. I tried that one, too
See you later, Haz.
but you can certainly do the one with one fewer vowel :)
later, haz
Floats into babbleland on the zyphr of the last strains of Vaughan Williams Tallis Fantasia. Serenly greets everyone and gently settles in big comfy armchair smiling beningly.
Yes, tyger. re5/20 - the triumph of hope over experience. :)
hey, mitch
FMitch - BOO!
LOL, jac. how true!!
LOL Jacs hello.
So sorry, FM. Did I make you jump?
love your icon, mitch
Oh goodie, wasn't sure if it would show up big enough tyger.
ROFLOL - I see the special key. What does is convert the clues to, FM?
nothing sedate about you today, jac :shakes head: :)
(She's going to say 'words', I guess.)
I admit I had to look closely, mitch, but your font is VERY clean
teehee
Wipes specs. It says clue generator not converter.
It actually says clue generator
right, jac. I was wondering exactly where you were coming from on that
Where's Haz gone? Are you hiding her Jacs?
ahh, now its starting to look like a Babble Weekday here -- hiya FMitch!
She's gone to greet visitors, FM.
the right font can transform things, and IMO, mitch, You Done Good ;)
Hey EvaN!
Laundry again... BBS.
tyger, it comes from a great webside, the hardest part is thinking up witty things to say.
several people are wearing a path in the carpet between their PCs and their dryers
dont let the BF hear this, but MAN, its hot in here!
the right words are always a challenge
LOL EvaN, what you been up to?
but I think that that's a really inspired icon. be proud. :)
Bobs a curtsey to tyger, thank you.
yw
FMitch, dunno -- im in bed, under the covers, with the laptop on my lap + wearing a fleece shirt -- maybe that has something to do with it?
I think I'm going to have to take a break. my eyes are not yelling yet, but the tone is decidedly crotchety
eva, it's a wonder you're not roasting :)
you've got a heat generator in your lap, after all
See you again tyger That sounds all lovely and toastie EvaN
im usually freezing....hence why i dont want him to knw im hot -- he will just have more reason to keep it cooler in here!
I'll try to come back in a while
I'm back and I think Haz took my final 27 words off with her.
If I had a laptop I think I would be permanently plugged into the world. I spend enough time infront of a PC as it is. Where's your fighting spirit Jacs - go find em or steal them back!
Will do, FM. *Sits up straight and concentrates.*
That the ticket!
when i moved in here with the BF back in august, their wireless network was secured + the guy who moved out took all the passwords with him... since i used the computer all day at work, i didnt care too much about not having the laptop at home, but now im hooked into the network
Oh I so love YouTube. think of a song type it in et voila.
Me, too, FM.
you guys will probably love this video, then: http://youtube.com/watch?v=fETrk totmyw
I'm messing about making keys for myself on GG site now, FM! You're to blame.;)
evening everyone :-)
Where else can you go from The Stranglers/Golden Brown via Bad Company, Ricky Lee Jones and end up with Vaughan Williams - my musical tastes are, er, broad?
isnt it kind of redundant to say that FMitch is to blame? ;)
LOL jacs and Hi katie. Oh will go have a look EvaN
Guess so, EvaN. Hi, katie.
DI 6 PLEASE oops yelling...hi all
I was watching lots of those wedding dance vids the other night, EvaN. Have you seen the 'Thriller' one?

Well, I though maybe somebody would have some advice...
thought
Sorry, joanne. I don't have it yet.

im guessing you have to pay for a membership before you can access clues?
EvaN that is hillarious, I've seen another wedding vid like that but the bride was wearing a crinoline and it looked sooo funny!
joanne it is a plural
There's a spray for 'pet accidents', jilli but soda water often solves that kind of problem, or bicarb.
having a little fun here, got to 94 and now at a standstill

Goodbye joanne03341 I'll see you tomorrow in the log
fine ty spanky, how are you?
hmm, sounds like I inadvertantly/subliminally got to you herin :-D
Thank you angelinaxox. I didn't watch the show much
i buy the non sweetened soya milk herin...never tried the choc flavour...could be too sweet for me
good Lil, resting at the moment, hubby is here sleeping and the dogs went to groomers today and they are soft. Nice day.
Probably SK but choc soy is damn good. Kinda got an aversion to lactose
i used to watch it all the time when i was a a little kid
Lili i buy Vitasoy Choc bliss.
didn't get the 'dark brown' clue for the se5/12 words. any other hints, plz?
SPanky don't let the dogs roll in gross things as they tend to do
is choc soy better? I tried reg soy...not a fan...tho I understand it's much better for you...
glad you are all having a restful day spanky
i get alpro lite herin
se - then straight sown the right side
se 5/12 is the ser*ant and the rainbow and 2 vowels.
nm, I monkeyed it. Thanks anyway
SK i don't taste the difference now. Then again i would give a toe to be able to have full cream milk and white bread (mmmmmm white bread bacon sandwiches) again
My dogs are pretty clean dogs. The blonde hates to be wet, so she tends to not do that. The black dog - well he is more the tomboy.
The se 5/12 word is e plus the pi 4/5 word momof5.
Spanky what type of dogs you have
LOL my hubby is addicted to bacon sandwiches w/ mayo..."heart stoppers" I call them
I used to work as a chef
I have 2 mixed labs. the girl is all blonde and the boy is all black. They are mixed with something smaller. She is about 6 and he is 4
i'm the same as you angel...i use to love the brady bunch when i was little...the old series was better than the film though
Oh cute puppies
wow herin, then I guess it's a little easier(?) knowing how to sub-out more figure friendly foods for the baddies
yes, i agree
we use to have a golden retriever..he was as soft as muck..i miss him
Yes defiantly. I love turkey mince over beef mince as the beef mince is fairly crappy when you cant buy top grade (there is 3 of us in the house and we spend about $150 - $200 a fortnight on food
help with NE8/45, plz?
Gee
One who requires the most (ne8 builds off 4)
mom, all the 8's are the same, beginning middle and ending
all the 8's end the same way momof5
all of them??? :o Wish I knew that!
yes uni
most in ne?? of help
Thanks. I thought that was it but didn't see the letters connecting correctly.
So SK what is Russia like?
A ne 8/45 word is one who is the most ne 4/5 momof5
Russia is very different than the "western" world herin...must have govt permission to go from one town to the next, food is bland (but great soups - that's what I'm living on here), and the people son't look you in the eye
WOOOOOOOOOOOT we finally have a politician in favour of gay rights. Also today John Howard is nomore
Wow SK i didn't think Russia was like that.
great herin, I understand that's been a sticky issue there for awhile
Yes it is a sticky issue. It should me equal rights for everyone. Which will be brilliant
it is still very "backwards", technology is about 1970's level, not many people will tolerate a tall Texan with a RU/Eng dictionary either LOL I wish the US would adopt more favorable rights for gays
Sk i guess the people there have it hard in RUssia.
I guess the US is still kinda "backwards" too ;-)
SK have you been on the Trans Siberian Railway and all that? Sorry to bug you find it fascinating.
fireworks
Yah ANge
That's the strange thing, herin...they don't know they have it hard...status quo for them. As a Russian citizen you are not allowed to leave the country for longer than a month...if you don't come back they will hunt you down and put you in jail
wtg ang!!
Woohoo Angelina!! **party**
wow that is mind boggling.
No haven't been on the Trans-C...have to get permission to leave Krasnoyark, and sinse my husband is working we don't get the chance
Yeah Angel!!
thanks, and have a good night
OH you need permission. I can't get my head around that. That is crazy.I would like to know why you need permission to go to another place
skheiny....sorry, i don't understand how the russians need permission to leave a town but they can travel abroad!
nite angel and take care
Night Angel
they keep track of your where-abouts at all time, herin, in fact my hubby has had a KGB guy tailing him since he started, and they are quite obvious about it, too! They don't want him "stealing" 1970's tech I guess LOL They have to get a Visa to leave, have an exact itinerary and reason for there trip, same even if just going to another town. Basically most Rusiians never leave their city of birth
Wow.
yup
I can't imagine needing permission to go into Melbourne to do a spot of shopping.
ne8,45 anyone?
note that sound is my head imploding at the lack of freedom the people have and how little the world knows about it
SPanky most ne?? ( you really want it)
ne is more of the ne4/5 spanky
neither can I, however, every town is self sufficient..radio/tv stations, all kinds of shopping (infact thta's the best part about Russia...shops galore, and with the exchange rate I'm keeping many of them in business LOL) that's the thing, there freedom is lacking, but services are still tolerable
sebum secco
silly me...it was there the whole time! ;)
silly me...it was there the whole time! ;)
i'm not being funny spanky, but i go to egypt alot on hols and so do russians...alot of them are even living there.
sorry, meant skheiny
SK i still cant think about it. wow. Ok must partake in a shower i am stinky. It is about 30C already
so if its so hard for them to tavel around their own country, how is it so easy for them to leave it??
i cannot figure out the es, can someone clue me?
And i have to hunt down a tshirt as i still haven't unpacked since winter
elle, repeat it again
the letters i meant
there are Russians everywhere I guess lill, but the ones who live there are more than likely on working visas or tourists
herin, i'm the other way...now packing away summer clothes and getting the winter ones out!
good hunting herin! nice chatting w/u
I moved in winter so there is not much un packed
Ill be back in about 15 min

Housework pales in comparison to almost anything!
i'm into crafts- card making, scrapbooking etc
aint that the truth... unless we talk bill paying... i've been known to attend some chores to put off that ugliness
ae 5,12

ae and the i*** of march
tyty
The ae 5/12 word is ae plus the I*** of March Amyjv.
yw
i think for me it depends on how house finances are going and what bills i am paying.
i'm like you min.. i just pay everything on the net now..i don't like housework as it makes me dizzy, then i spend most of the day lying down!
plus, when you clean it's dusty again within 5 minutes!!

Lil - my Beloved is on a boys' night out, or rather in... he's down the road at a workmate's with some other chaps for beer(s), curry and probably film(s). It's my guess the films will have soundtracks with lots of gunshots and explosions or, if not, moaning and groaning (but we won't dwell on those!). He's taken his sleeping bag and a change of clothes and will be back sometime Sunday (or, later today, rather).
howdy everyone!
Hi Minver and thanks.
Hi lbd.
no stupid qustions, lilyjoy. it's tough to figure out, but simple onec you understand. :)
hi, dawg!
tks dc
so when you want clues, do you ask based on your tile stats?
di 6/21 please?
lilyjoy, when we ask for clues we say 1rst 2 letters of the word, how many letters in the word&point value for that word. So an se 4/4 word starts with se, is 4 letters long and is worth 4 points. lilyjoy can click on Lickety's at the bottom of the page to get word list.

Actually, I meant to say that it is 22 degrees outside
no the di word something to do with a truck and music

Good evening all!
Hi, again, al
di 4/4?
Hi Jen, Hi Pam
Hi, Jen & Pam
hi pam\
di 6/21 is di***l gas, replace the l with a snake letter.
Lil - I will enjoy. I'm just hoping his disgestive system processes the beer(s) and curry before Sunday night. If it doesn't, my son's away visiting his girlfriend in Friesland (area of Holland where the Friesian cows come from) and so I may well grab my pillow and move into an 'unpolluted' environment, if you get my drift.;)
hi jen
di4, what happens to your plants when you forget to water them
yes, mlf, plural it.
hi again pam
Congratulations Amyjv on fireworks! Hooray for you!
Hello Jen! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle

howdy, pam!
Yo Pam
Hi pam
hi, miss
does that mean you have loads of outdoor lights jen and other things?
Well, lil, if you woke up in the night, not realising you weren't in your own room, you might walk into something, too! LOL One of my uncles, who worked odd hours that meant he got home after bedtime and in the dark, regularly barked his shins/bumped his head/fell over things that weren't there before he left for work... my auntie used to get bored very frequently and move the furniture around.
I feel like Spies Like Us... Doctor, Doctor, Doctor, Doctor... LOL Loving the out-Christmas-ing dcseain! Haven't put up the tree yet (which will go in the front window), but have 500 mini lights out front.... keeping in mind, it's a townhome 8-)
sounds lovely, jen :)
i fall over things and into things every day jac as i don't have any balance, so my mean sense of humour thinks its funny when he does it because it makes a change from me.....i know, i'm wicked!!
Jen - no chance of us putting any Christmas decs up yet as sitting room is still like a warehouse due to my kids having dumped stuff there. ('Kids 'are 20 and 23, btw.) A house just around the corner has had all the Christmas stuff up since November 5th! I prefer to leave things until 2 weeks-10 days before Christmas. Did get 1st Xmas card on 30th Nov., though but that was from relatives in Canada and so excusable.
plus i have an excuse, his was drink orientated!!
evening all...i need assistance with my last word please le 5
You are wicked, Lil but (in Dick Emery voice, without the accompanying shove, since your balance isn't good) 'I like you!'.
Hi, AK!
Mostly it's because it's our first home that we have owned and we are jazzing it up this year, BUT next door neighbours are a little snooty AND they (against HOA policy) put up a satellite dish on the FRONT of their house!!

re6/18, plural the re 5/10 before it.
Hello tygerbryght! How are you? Welcome to the grid
re5/10 adds a cross to re4/4
re6/18 adds to the re5 before it.
i needed we5/18 and it was waving at me, and stamping its foot and i still didn't see it jac!
Hello again Pam! I have the Jesse Stone movie on too.

A re 5/10 is re 4/4 word plus a cross letter MLFAN17.
wednesday - oh4/6 is past tense of an exclamation you just typed.
The Jesse Stone movie is on CBS Jen.
I have been fighting with myself fighting a headache, and I finally took something... it has broken, mostly...

Hello wednesday! How are you doing? Welcome to grid
i think i got both
thnx. i was going nuts on that
Oh dear, Lil. Those plural and verb forms are little b*ggers, aren't they? They twist and turn and hide.
A oh4/6 adds the past tense ending to it wednesday.
good, pam. sounds like you have the same aversion to taking pills that I have. :)
hi wednesday
hi all. slowly going crazy here :)
Hi, wednesday
Well, tyger, I just don't like to think I need them, LOL
I understand.
hey, wednesday
re 45 8 please
don't they just jac. it's those ones that i miss. i seem to get the harder ones and the ones that stare you in the face i miss
hi tyger
al the 8s follow same pattern - most whatever. so, re is the most re4y
I'm not sure which one you're requesting, ML
re 845
all the 8s are the same mlf
ML is that re8/45 you're asking for? If so, it is the most water grass like.
the 3 eights are all similar
hello babblers!
In other words, the superlative form of the re4.5 before it.
they all have a double vowel in the first 4 letters, and the same last 4 letters

Zinnia - please do!

g'night, nut!
sleep well, lilliann
Goodbye evanonut! I will see you tomorrow in the log
{{{nutski!}}} where you been? we had a lot of power problems today...
There's an art to poking snoring men in the ribs, btw. The degree of sharpness of the poke is vital to success. To little and they carry on snoring, too much and they turn a complete circle and carry on where they left off after much snorting, tooth grinding and maybe the odd bout of flatulence or two. The correct grade of poke accompanied by threats voiced aloud at just the right pitch, volume and tone can work wonders.*grins*
only got on recently. snow here too!

hi Scrabbler!
thanks phaeton and harp!
hi, harp and scrabbler
hello fellow babblers
got it. down to 16
Welcome back Scrabbler
yw stid
Hi Stid--how is life for you and in the Pacific NW? It is quite cold and wintry here.
Hi, Atom
Hi, Scrabbs. I'm just 'hanging out' as you Yanks say. (Over here, to people my age, that phrase would mean you're 'flashing'. LOL.)
sw5/20... depending on which one, the first like like a person from the scandanavian country and the other is to use a broom
Well, Jacula, I am "hanging", but under a sweatshirt.
what is the appropriate term/phrase there, jac?
how is everyone
last sw5/18 is like to curse, but change the 2nd vowel
Incidentally, in this world of polictical correctness, I do hope no one wants to flog me, imprison me or have me killed for using the term 'Yanks'.
it actually snowed a bit here today Scrabbler, just enough to get everyone all in a tizzy. Might get a bit more this evening, but it's not bad
re6/33--must have the W in it, I guess, but I don't see it.
and Jac, I don't mind Yank at all :)
Thanks Jen!
Jac, if a north american called me that i'd be insulted, but i know outside of NA, that's the term for us unitedstatesians :)
down to FIVE!
scrab....pluralize the 5/20
scrabbler yes it does... marries again
Hi Scrabbler! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

plural the di4, scrabbler, the word means a quarter tone in music
di6/ pluralize the di4/5
Scrabs -- di 6 is di 4 with an extraneous plural ending
Good night, Jen.

Hello featherbee! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
:)
Hi, Scrabbler!
Hi, feather, too!
think i'll grab the list
TY, Seain. And I am done---too tired and shameless to not ask for a clue for my last word.
hey, feater! welcome
Hi Pam. How are you? Hi featherbee.
How does one get into the Scrabulous games twixt Babbler on Facebook? I'm in 4 with friends from real life on there.
Congratulations Scrabbler on fireworks!Good for you
yay, scrabbler! congrats!
hi, Feather
anyonee get the o word
So odd to see you this late, Scrabs!
there you go feather, you WIN at scrabble! LOL no surprise there...
it's the past of an exclamation, atom
How is Mary, Scrabs?
oh 4/6 word is oh + a past tense ending AtomSmasher
anyone*
YAY Scrabbler!
sorry stid! i felt kinda bad about that one actually!
jac, do you mean you have games going on the scrabulous site already?
so stid, will you ever play me again after that?
I just got home from our tennis/Xmas party and I need to unwind before bed. I will be seeing Mary's baby in the AM for a 2 mo well baby visit. It is the best time for the husband to bring her in. Mary has 9 more radiation treatments to go. She is weak physically but strong in spirit.
feather - I do! I didn't start 'em (still haven't worked out how to do that yet) but I've been put into 4 by my friends.
I am thinking of her, scrabs!
Atom - past tense an exclamation or surprise is oh4.
i got it
After I see the baby tomorrow then I work my Sunday shift of sick kids for 3 hrs or so.
i don't think if you have a game going on the regular scrabulous site that it can be transferred to the facebook scrabulous application. they're the same site, but run by two different applications perhaps
Keep sending positive energy to Mary. TY, Pam.
I have a pal in CT whose 7-year-old daughter had SEVERE headaches and nausea and her former pede was convinced it was stress. My friend got a second opinion, who immediately scheduled a CT scan. I thought about you--your profession and the kids--a lot, Scrab. Scan was clear, they are ruling out migraines and allergies now...
Scrabbler, I hope the visit with Mary's baby goes well. How nice to be able to watch after her child this way. I hope the radiation treatments go quickly for her.
Is that shift in hospital, scrabs? (((((((HUGS)))))))
I can't see the SL words ... none of them ..l am I blind???
oh sure feather -- I could hardly do worse next time.... LOL
trying to finish before nick wakes up, and am stuck on the very first one! ae5 please?
feather - no, this is on the Facebook thing. I only ever played Scrabulous solo before. When I joined Facebook after requests from one 'real life' friend and one 'Babble' friend... who, incidentally must be real life because I talk to them almost every day... my other friends swarmed in to check out the word game.
you go ahead and start it stid, since i started the last game. if you don't have a preference, use the sowpods dictionary!
ae + "It is your ***tiny, Luke" said Darth Vader
sounds like a disesase that is very common in Africa, and often fatal, ae5
so you just need to know how to find your games?
got it, ty
fun clue, zinnia
feather - that covers it, yes.
Today is world A*** day, harp
okay feather, next game started. I got a doozy of a first word!
oops. didn't see about the sowpods... sorry.
ok, over on the left side is a list of applications. you should see scrabulous as one of them. if you don't see it, click the "more" button. once you click it, your games should be listed for you.
no prob stid!
Not blind re the sl words, Zinnia, just a little 'skewed'.
yes, i knew it was around now but wasn't sure it was today
woo hoo stid! excellent! she did "spitz" with the Z on a double letter and also on a double word spot, for 52 points!
feather - I've done that but don't see any games otheer than those my other friends have put me into.
December 1, Harp...
:-D I was so clever! *patting self on back*
Mind you, I don't have many Babbler on my 'friends' list yet.
Maybe that's it?
sl 4/8 is there are a sl** of people at Times Square on New Year's Eve TXZinnia and sl6/33 is the past tense
ohh! i see jac! if you want to start a new game, click the new game button near the top. you can invite anyone who is your friend. if you want to join a random game with a stranger, click join game.
Haven't had time to really explore the site yet or check up and how many 'allows' I dare do for the various applications.
(Zinnia in tiny voice like Vincent Price in "The Fly") ... help me! ( Still need those sl words.....)
So, for friends, to get the Babble folks, I need to seek you all out?
Thanks minverv
TXZinnia did you see my sl clues at 9:49. Jut clued it.
yes, you can get application crazy. sometimes i add them just to see what they are, then delete them immediately.
zinnia: sl 4/8 killed; past tense for the 6/33, plural for the 5
a sl** of paperwork covered my desk, plus past and plural.
jac, click on the groups application, and do a search for "babblers worldwide"
great stid!
Life will get very busy if I hook you lot up with my other friends! We're all word lovers!
you'll see us all there.
I have been doing that too feather, and feeling guilty sometimes... there are just too many "toys" on facebook, and I am old and too tired to play that much
Okay, feather. Will do. *Note to self... should I do this so near to Christmas?*
thanks, too, DC -- Y'all -- I only have 20 left!! OMG, I might actually see what "Fireworks" means!
i've started ignoring requests more often too stid.
lol jac!
go zinnia go!
I'm missing the first we 4/9, and the we 6/33
we4/9 = marries.

Time for night-night, kids. See you tomorrow.
we6/3 is a sad film.

LOLOL, scrabs
we've had that one a few times, feather! sorry ... (KCAWHT)
Goodness, Scrabbs! Surely you could have better dreams?

I'm still here to clue,feather... ask away.
last sw5/18?
when i watch a sad movie i get all we6
the two sw5/18's rhyme
never saw it spelled that way, harp--thanks!
Zinnia - the film 'Ghost' might have made you cry? It's what's termed as we6.
me neither pam
Got it harpjane -- just wouldn't have spelled it that way
ty
thanks jac
Don't use the sometimes consonant at the end, use 2 vowels that mean 'for instance' in other areas.
3
y/w, Zinnia.
ok, I am brain dead. I could use a clue for le 5,10. thanks
and done!
Spanks -- I am SO there with you . . . Could it be the white wine?
Spanky - country Sierra Le***.
Short name for a lion in astrology + consonant + vowel.
just in time too, nick's waking up
I wish i could say that I have had wine...instead, it has just been a really l-o-n-g day. I am trying to squeek out the last 32 words.
yay, feather
Feather i have to say it. Would that be finished in the Nic of time
Spanky - I am here to help.
Talk to us, babe ....
Herin, hi!
thanks Jacula
Hi
Spanky -- Where in Texas?
I am kinda lurking. No one is home so i can do anything i want
Hi, herin....
Dripping Springs
rural area outside Austin
Cedar Park for me
That sounds like a serious vehicle fault, Spanky! LOL. Sorry!
Yeah, I know "Drippin'
lol herin!
cute video today
Cedar park....Gee, so close, yet so far. HA
Jac -- It's GORgeous there!
Yeah, Spanks -- I drive through there (on purpose) sometimes when I go to San Antonio for work
Yeah, but we are going to move over to Buda soon.
We have LONG commutes.
por que?
Well, if people around the world insist on taking the pee out of 'Lickey End', an area nearby where I live... LOL
Jac -- that's funny!
See my flickr pics to see how lovely it is where I live.
I don't understand, Jac...
Of course, Spanky and I live in a state that has a town called "Cut & Shoot"
how long a commute, spanky, and do you mean time and/or distance?
pam - are you like my blonde friend from work, Liz? You had to explain 'dirty' jokes to her and, once you'd done that, they weren't funny and more.
my husband says not to forget "point blank" too!
LOL--I just don't get the "pee" and lickey, sorry...
I am originally from Pennsylvainia - and I didn't live too far away from Intercourse.
I know where that is
Which, CL W?
Intercourse isn't far from Virginville.
Funny, Spanky
'pee' = to urinate. Lickey = a tongue thing.
Spanks -- are you making that up?
Intercourse?
Oh Gawd!
Absolutely Not.
Hey, there's a Paradise and Blue Ball there too.
LOL, Jac, sorry
Intercourse, Pennsylvania, it's near Blue Ball
Intercourse is a real place.
Okay, let me try to finish ...clues for probably obvious words, please. ... How about de 4/5 after the animal that crunched my car
CLW is totally correct. have you been there?
And de 4/8 after that....
Yes, I grew up in Paradise close to the fire house.
plural of the letter D, zinnia
Hi all!
I think I am going nuts! 6 left, and I am seeing NOTHING!
Where are you CLW?
back. YAY feather!
We have a by-pass that saves our village from motorway traffic. For years, since the 50s, it's been 2-laned. They are now widening the middle bit to make it 1-laned either side. That's to slow down the traffic up to and from the M5, due to a few fatal accidents in recent years. Do they realise that this important through road, if slowed down by becoming 1 lane either side will result in major pollution?
Here's one -- I grew up in Indiana which has a colleg named Ball State
plural the D letter zinnia?
any help for he 7/36 and he 5/22?
de4/8 is quick/skilled: he's de4/8 at that
I have 14 left and I live in Lancaster County.
and to be handy and graceful is the de 4/8
de4/5 = man's name or Church official's title.
he7, past of the hair/skin dye
Amish area. It is so pretty there.
Thanks DC!
I do miss the fall colors, but I got over it.
he5/22 past of to make, usually of wood
Yes, it is and I doubt I'll ever move away.
Oh, Silver -- I'm so ther with you....
seer
Just gave a word away cause I typed it in the wrong box. Getting tired.
Anyone need any more clues? And could CLW move the cursor?
I need to head out now. good luck finishing zinnia -- (YAY in advance) and see you-all tomorrow!
ciao, stid
*poof*
night, stid
!!! Thanks DC !!! 4 to go...
thanks
15 for me
de 4/8?
ae 5/12?
to be skilled at something
ae5/12 is an order of mosquitos add ***i arnaz
de4/8 is adoit and skilful.
or a quick learner
ae + "It is your ***tiny Luke" by Darth Vader
de4/8 mean skilled/quick/clever - he's de4/8 at that.
ae5/12 = ae + sort version of Lucille Ball's huby, Mr Arnez's first name.
I AM BLIND -- I don't see the de 4/8.....
awesome, got it. where do they come up with this stuff?
add consonants, zinnia
Zinnia - for de4 try d + young newt.
d + one of santa's helpers - last letter + cross letter
AlleLUia! Thanks all!
alright, here's my last 3... wh 7/56, re 5/20, re6/33?
I am beginning to think that instead of putting goodies to eat and drink in the Babble penalty box we should insist that peeople in there read and learn 2 pages of the Oxford or Cambridge dictionary beginning with the word they couldn't find/got wrong/posted in the grid.
wh7 is the past of wh5/22
re6/33is diminuitive of word b4 it.
wh 7 - Cried but with an extra letter after the w
re5/20 grow in your grass
brilliant idea, jac!
thanks, dc!
Probably obvious, but not to me....
yw, pam :)
And then we should publically test them on what they have learned. If the words they have learned are in the grid then they must answer in the proper fashion, i.e. le4/5 (learn).
he 4/5 after (the third one)
he 5/20 (after the wood one)
oddly spelled word...
i clued we instead of re 5/20:"> trying again...
he 4/9 (next to last one)
re5/20 - marry again
he4/9 of wood by hand
he4/5 a type of frost
he4/9 penultimate one, chops.
he 4/9 past tense of next he
Soory! Chopped for the penultimate one.
WOOHOO!
I made it!
FABulous, silver!
re5/20 - as I've typed here before as a clue = the triumph of hope over experience.
Thank you all for all your help!
now who needs a clue?
Got the he 4/9 & 5/20 - thanks all!
wow, thats a little bleak jac... but i speak as a newlywed...
on, well, and cynically, said jac! :D
Me. I need a clue for re 8,45
Me, Silver -- I'm missing the firs t pe 4/5 and the pe 5/14
re8/45 the most covered in marsh grass
LOL. Soory folks. I went into Church time #1 thinking it was for life.
Hey again
pe 5/14 another name for feet+ two letter plural ending
ball pe4/5 hammer
That's the way the cookies crumble. LOL
pe5/14, put another vowel in the pe4/6 after it.
thanks, dc -- got that one; need the first one
yes Zinnia, other spelling
re8/45 is the most pond grass like.
How are you all
I'm fine, Herin. How are you, how is 'the boy' and how is the intruder?
Got the pe 5/14 - thanks silver, et al!
1st pe 4/5 - according to the dictionary it is a joyful song of praise... that being said, as it didn't mean anything to me its pe + a small insect that ruins picnics - last letter
We are all so cynical, are we not? May I recommend a book to read here? Fannie Flagg's ' Can't Wait To Get To Heaven'.
B.f has run off to a mates house :( to roll play Iron Kingdoms the other one has run off to roll play elsewhere. I haven't seen b/f all weekend
It's such a fun read about dying and, who knows, it might be true!
what is the "u" word? Or, more appropriately, a clue, please?
My 'boy' is away on a boys' night out, herin.
ur 2 vowels
urea
Jacula - can you reclue re 8/45? I am not getting it.
wee/pee word, pam.
Ohm rocks just typed it.
SOme one please tell me why i vacuumed when its 90F out there
thanks, jac!
Hooray -- got the pe 4/5 (finally -- y'all I'm REALLY not that dense....)
hmmm, i didn't even see that in the chat, LOLOLOL
herin - it's the guilt thing from time immemorial. Blame the serpent in the garden of eDEN.
where rats live
I think its more the cat fur everywhere thing. She got vacuumed too
S*W*R
Okay, only 9 left -- He 4/5 - The one after the dye used on hair
sorry, i'm back... the cat was crying to be fed
And hands, if you're from India
don't be sorry, Silver -- we're glad you're back
Hang on, FMitch gaave me a site to play around with/on... I feel the need to change my icon to one I feel is possibly appropriate...

term used in fly tying for all you fly fisherpeople
Okay -- how about the two we 4/8's after the crying 6/33?
Icon changed/ Herin.. what?

Bless him
how is the weather in your part of the world jac?
Mine is sacked out on the couch being a corpse. Its too stinking hot.
silver - the weather is 'supposed to be windy and stomry with local floods'. It's calm out there, at present and has been all night.
the first se 4/4?
OH boy love Pirate Dvds. Need to yell down in frount with this copy
plant it in ur garden, zinn ia
Any Tanglers here?
Zinnia - it is a word that means stiching a captive bird of prey's eyes shut, bu it sounds like another spelling for a blubbery sea creature.
1st se 4/4 s + one of those snakey fishes
brb need to hang out the washing (oh joy)
se 4/4 to close something tightly, substituting a vowel, or s + an electric e**
Art - not been on Tangle in ages.
tangle is no more, jac
or so we've been told by many on here.
Oh, is it not, dcs?:( What occurred?
Got it -- thanks ren, jack, silver, etc. -- down to 4
looking for a clue for he 7/36...
apparently site that bought them isn't supporting classic games any more.

Toothpicks, Spanky? That's sharp and harsh. Here in UK we use matchsticks (one rond combustible end + one small square end) for same purpose. LOL
that word is scots for small you need most small
They closed Tangleword down...now us Tanglers are all lost!!! Got an email about this place just now!
Not quite the same!
welcome, artmart!
Too funny jacula!
ty
Most small would be 'tiniest' but that's not in the grid. LOL.
welcome, tangler
What I said IS a clue, though.
With the luck I am having lately, I would use the "strike anywhere" matches and light myself on fire the first time I tried to blink.
