I won't have time for this, as usual. It's been a disatrous weekend etc for many reasons, but what affects my babble time is the fact that our old library sprang a big leak because of the heavy snow plus heavy rain and thaw, so we volunteers are recruited to move the entire fiction collection so that repairs can be made.

Clues can be given in many forms. One can give a definition, cryptic description, define parts of the word, or just tell the starting 2 letters and lenght and points (mn8/55 means an 8 letter word, starting MN and worth 55 points).

we celebrate his birth- or dying day, not sure which, on December 6th. The night before is 'pakjes-avond' = gift's evening. A bag with gifts is delivered, either through the chimney or before the front door after loud and sudden knocking. For the small kids, it is Sinterklaas and Black Pete who bring it all.

Raised huskies long long ago in Colorado but when my brain decided to move to the 'big city' and travel a lot, I decided not to have any pets of my own ... but I wound up sitting for other people's animals: mammals, reptiles, fish, whatever fit in the door. Might as well have kept my own!
i dog-sit for people, but don't want one of my own. too much work on a day-to-day basis.
They are all good thank herin, we have put the tree up but not decorated it yet which is our next challenge, but all the animals are a real joy :-)

I always thought that fish were disposable pets..just something that sits there. When I went to uni last year, I bought myself a betta cuz I coudn't have my kitty. See, she was trying to get information about the carers society up on the intertubes, and having done so wanted a hard copy of it. Only she doesn't know how to print from her laptop. So she did the next best thing. She went, laptop in hand (open, running, and still displaying the web page) to the public library. To seek assistance and advice from the local librarions? Nope. To *use the phorocopier* Yes. She tried to photocopy the laptop display. As a result her grand and a bit HP laptop is now a flaptop. Lappy hinges do not, it seems, stand up to having the form-feed lid of a photocopier closed down on them suddenly. I have a headache just contemplating it.

I was less excited by the bright colors of the candles, but hey, it's not my holiday (just that of friends) the silver candelabrum, tho, is exceptional. I'm fairly slow these days, but it still took me less than 10 minutes to do the puzzle

4-wheel drives are so inefficient, but really great to have in slick conditions as long as you don't go too fast. Too many city-slickers around here forget that 4WD doesn't stop any better even if it can get you going faster...
mine as AWD, so it kicks in automatically as the computer sees fit. It was on most of the way to work, and it kicked in during the skid.

I can imagine that Seattle's growth has outpaced the infrastructure! Same has happened in this area, even Hagerstown. We have a rush hour here now. :)
