we have the best little movie theatre here -- an old building with moveable seats, sometimes used for other purposes. No endless trailers ofr other movies, just slides of Salt Spring doings and scenes before the movie starts. People get together and chat while waiting. Usually only one movie shown, at 7 pm, sometimes another a 9. First-run films.

The only embroidery is on the label on the back. I'm making an envelope out of cotton and doing a message on another piece of cotton (the paper) to put in the envelope. I will then sew the envelope to the back of the quilt and join the message with thread so that when it is taken out of the envelope it will not get lost.
I did a bargello quilt last year lyn. All in blues and white.

Somew DVDs have 'region 0' which means they can be played worldwide. However, if they are made for PAL they can only be played on a PAL machine.

I love to order the old TV series from the states which are now on DVD's but they are all region1. Luckily, my husband's cousin here has an old cheap DVD player that plays all the different region DVD's that he basically gave us. (You can't buy those types of machines anymore here.) Maybe you can get one there is the need arises.

I told him in no uncertain terms that he was not to bring people here to the house that didn't have the money that we expected... told him I had my heels in firm, so did lickety... surprise, surprise!!! 4 days later, he sold the house for what we asked for.... which was $45,000 more than he expected

our education system here is probably worse than yours (hazel and Frances) - a number of years back, the whole system was drastically changed to follow a Swiss method - afew years ago, Switzerland decided that their reform was not working,,, meanwhile, we carry on ??? crazy i tell you !!!
I give up montreal. They keep pushing sex 'education' down the throats of younger and younger children (starting in primary school) and wonder why the kids try it for themselves. We have the largest teenage pregnancy rate in Europe and climbing!

Not sure about that one. I can only say that when I was at school (millions of years ago) the only sex education we had was an embarrassed thirty minute talk by the biology teacher involving frogs and rabbits. We didn't have the pregnancy problems that we have now. Perhaps it was fear.

The problem is whether or not you teach sex ed, the sexuality is already there in their faces, from the media. It's unavoidable. Something has to be done to address the feelings and questions the media evoke.

I was a book kid...I didn't have the media images and movies my brothers now do. I had restricted tv times and PG movies...they have tv all day and very grown up movies (not LoriP, other family)
