I didn't see you chatting earlier
You weren't here to perk her up, tutu, she's sleepy.
keep wanting to type in lanai=
or leis dc
dc.. go ahead and type it anyway
you do have the vines that are an anagram of that don't you?

That's kinda unlikely, ruru... I'm equal opprotunity about it =)
Ok picture this i was 18 and my High School Dance mum wouldn't let me go in full goth so i didn't go. I also wanted to unleash a pack of hungry rotties on the hall but that didn't happen either

Thanks, Fran.
ty fran
Seain, I sent you the email...
yw all
Um derr
thanks, red :)
herin, good for your mum
ruru you are so fun to pick on though,...
full goth was totally in style when i was that age, and was common at all school functions.
I have been looking at words...
Not Really Jill it was my clothes choice not hers
I prefer to think of it as being amused by ruru...
and you're such a good sport ruru
I used to buy my own clothes but she hid them
okay okay I can leave now..
Frisky even =)
ruru is highly amusing, plus he seems ot be a faboo cook...which is always nice.
and he'd look great in a blush tutu

Uh-huh Of course. How could I miss that?
nite all thanks again
I had a feeling it might come out wierd, but...well, I guess it did.
But amusingly lol
*** ruru says... crap I will stay outta this one! ***
for you...
Yeah tongues!
i knew what you meant red, i think dc did too. :-)
I'm all embarrassed!!!!
hm. helicopters cicrling. i wonder what's up
Fran, thank you , you make me feel all the better...
DC perhaps someone is coming to remove the Pres from office early!!!
Aww. Dont do that huny...
sounds interesting, dc...
It is the lanai police ...dc run run run!!!!
I knew what You meant, at least. It took me 3 days to figure out what Ruru meant by "frisky".
hm. i want to say ' we shoudl be so lucky', though i'm not sure mr cheney'd be any better.
Jill why did you say good on my mum for not letting me have my clothing choice at the dance. It was a full lenght dress and it wasn't slutty
hm, if that's the choice, leave Bubba there
circling helicopters make me uneasy; i grew up near a large prison, and copters never meant anything good.
Ooh , they would have to take Mr Cheny along otherwise Mr Pres would be speechless eh.
my mistake, herin.
That my dear moon is because your only association with Frisky is the cat food.
meh
here it usually means someone is lost at sea, or if it's inland, a police chase
Ruru ddnt mean the cat food to make cats active??
lost at sea is scary.
That's my cats choice, ruru. She's a trailer trash ho. And anything but The least expensive food is too good for her.
Here choppers are usually real estate people checking out sites -- daylight only though, lol
Here, helicopters always mean a LifeFlight medical emergency.
have 69 left - going to grout a mosaic gift for my brother's new house - bbl
Hardly MY fault. =P
ha! i just now found ta4/4
later ursh!
Cya Ursh! Have a good day
Bye, ursh.
oh that sounds lovely, ursh!
Happy Grouting Ursh!!
later ursh
here they usually mean bush fires or other unpleasantries
bye Ursh - I'm jealous of yr brother
oh, sounds nice, ursh, til later!
or mr bush is back in sydney
I tried to learn Mosiac technique last year...I had little success...
I still reeling from the kitty ho comment
LL's song isn't accepted either
Have not heard Helicopters here yet..
yes, we also have emergency helicopters that take patients from our small hospital to big city ones
What? She IS!!
She's also a complete hussy for anyone with spaghettios
What do you do call out "Here HO !" Here Ho!
brb
Sometimes. But usually I just open the spagettios and that works great.
I'm not getting the chat any more than I'm getting the grid
later jellen
I hope moon is careful to call out here ho, yo unever know what will come in.
lol jilli!
Synopsis: Ruru and Moon are talking about her cat
red to the PB
Seain is nervous about helicopters...we all told what they mean in our area.
No.. MOon called her cat a HO and trailer trash
ha! i love when dart is chat monitor. :-)
Sorry Jilli. My cat is obtuse. It's hard to describe her in any elegant phrases.
lots of us to the PB for that one...
red, that part I got and joined it, lol!
cat is three letters dart no penalty there
ca 4,5
but ca4/5 is all there. :-)
only when they're circling do they make me uneasy :) i see them along the river all the time, NP
otherwise we are all just blithering idiots...
Rut ro.. Has ruru seen dart monitor?? He's good Ru. lol
Are they after you Seain?
what is in PB RUru??
well, I'll go along withthat, red :D
friskies and spagettios apparently
cupcakes on a lazy susan
LOL JIlli...
praise Elvis, no red! i'd loose my job if so.
I'm only going in for cupcakes...
why is that DC?
Out here the sound of helecopters is a mixed blessing... They could be practising landing in the parking lot so you need to move your truck. But it also means you have a way to the hospital, should they land on it while you're moving it.
he's tell you, but then he'd have to kill you ruru
I don't eat friskies cat food she says snottily.
i mean "he'd"
LOL Moon...
i have a top secret clearance, ruru
oh
PB for moon la 4,5
thats why he wears sunglasses...
SHHHH I will keep the secret.
DCs in your government internets stealing your profiles
Uhm, no ruru, she Really doesnt like sharing... She even has her own cupboard =P
n otch
Geeez DERNIT
thanks jilli!
oop
ROFL Lady :D
{{shuffles BACK to the PB limping from ruruitis}}
my ex-boyfriend had that clearance also, he worked on encryption devices inside Cheyenne Mountain
what did you say was in the PB?
what did you say was in the PB?
who has their own cabinet
you jilli...
My cat does.
She doesnt share well.
aaah...
spaghettios?
and cupcakes on a lazy susan jilli
cupcakes on a lazy susan, with brass fittings spaghettios and friskie cat food..
Very bad canned pasta Jilli.
I think we should do some restocking.
and a chocolate glazed chocolate bundt cake
Me, too. We ate a bunch in there earlier.
OOO! Dibs on cake
oh, I remember spaghettios, ugh!
all right... all right *** ruru whips up a large meyer lemon tart
I keep trying to include the Cuban artist Fl*** Jiminez, but no go. not even sure if he is Cugan...
ah, NOW yer talkin, dc, lol
Watch him! Don't let ruru slide those friskies into the tart...
it is a friskies crust though!
Frisky tarts?? Fantasia night in the PB??
ewwww
Not Cuban, at all try Conjuntos instead, but still not in the grid...
I'm losing my appetite -- must drown my sorrows in wine...
Jeez I better go back in
ugh
decides Seains cake is probably the best thing going...
i will join you jilli, red for me
tosses a fresh bottle of moscato rosso into the PB
Possibly a good idea... But bourbon for me, thanx, I try not to mix.
ooh! Cliff from Cheers' last name is a word
ty dc -- goes well with choc bundt cake :)
just the cake fer me please...
all my tiles which are empty start with vowels, gaaa
brb
the ILs are challenging
I've been challenged all night, I'm not surprised they are for me too =P
whoa! Just realised the significance of ic4 re the PB
I found the ils to be ok, but they are sort of medical..
just found them all :) i-v now done
I think we are all in PB for discussing ic4 theme day.
except for me... I said la4
and apparently talking about a feline is not appropriate either....
Go Seain go.
okay -- no blank tiles now, and those vowels weren't so hard after all
i'm in the came that certain common words used in the chat, like chat, ic4, sprite, and what, ought be ignored.
Good job Jilli!
the wine helped you Killi!!!
that would be Jilli, whoops..
camp, not came :)
Me, too. Now.
I am lost
Although I DO like chocolate cake...
really dont like spaghettios though
I am drinking in the PB with those frisky tarts and forgetting about this grid for now
lost? can you be found?
are you wearing your tutu?
perhaps a Great idea, Ruru
chat has lost me so i am lurking
"Lost and alone on some forgotten highway..." red turtle sings John Denver for Herin.
it's been like that tonight, lady
well, I hate to leave you ruru, but this tart has to go to bed -- alone
Good Night Jilli...

ah, red, i see what may have triggered you asking about that musical group :)
i work bottom-to-top, moon, as does carlee, and some others.
It might be if she hadnt sashayed off ruru. =)
though, really, i work randomly til i stall, then go bottom-to-top, mostly
what Seain...
I figured you might know.
I prefer the top to the bottom personally
Which is why I figured I'd try something new, tonight, seain... apparently tho those of you who've been doing this longer might do better with a twist like that =)
Except ruru, of course, since he's contrary that way.
ah, there's some similar COs :D
we all have our different styles of play

two command forms of Spanish 'shut up' are in the grid LOL
that's true, the 8s were pretty tricky
well, nothing over a 6 yet yet and no spanish!!
I haven't found them yet fran... tricky or not.
are they valid words dc?
no yiddish terms yet either
ca7 would indicate the words are coincidentally spanish, less the 7 is catalan
yes, fran
ruru, i can help you
true, ruru
ok, I have reached my limit.. 57 to go, will do in the afternoon tomorro, after hopefully some time out of bed...

ruru, do you have va6? the graffiti guy?
you might have better luck with that ruru, if you Let someone try =P
not quiet. literally 'shut up' it's lather like the word for 'street'.

in/is, whatever
ooh, got the ca7/32 is that one of them?
yes, fran, drop a letter a time for 2 words more.

who has been teasing you?
Good Morning All

It honestly doesn't matter now Pink i don't want to gossip here. Doh to pc not workin. Hi Peri
That is my kitty i have new flicker picks up too
just reading the log, sometimes I am ignored too but I have learned not to get upset about it. sometimes people are deep in the grid or doing other things.
Peri its when the chat is going on and its not quite. I try not to ignore people i have a lot of thoughts in my head and a lot of stuff not happening at home so i forget where i am at
mornin all
mornin pinki
HI Craws
i think being ignored in here is something that comes along with babble. I dont believe its intentional, as peri said buried in the grid or doing other things. Do not take it personally herin, i think we all go through it at some stage *hugs*
hello craws how ya doing??
Peri the kitty pic is used with the dig macro setting on the camera. Shes a patient little subject so i can experiment my settings on her
THanks Pink and Peri

I took a nap yesterday and then didn't sleep well last night, but I am okay
how are you carlee?
brb i think the cat has munched on my mushrooms or steak or something of mine on the bench
ah.... I woke up with a full head..needed kleenex....my cinnamon buns are about to go in the bread machine ( Timer set before bed) I am waiting to go back to bed but will see if dough consistancy is right first
me...i'm surviving peri..thanks
ummm, cinnamon buns, sounds wonderful
I will probably stay up, but may need a nap later
( its the cinnabon recipe)
how did you get the recipe
online
marigold, do you have any of the longer words
Hmmmm cinnabon's *drools* morning folks!
ok, carlee, that is great, wish I lived closer to you :-)
hi Fishbulb
Hi peri :)
if u have a bread machine its dead easy
I don't have a bread machine :(
peri.. u should invest..i never use mine to bake the bread... just make the dough
hmmm, I am trying to downsize, wonder if I would really use it. what do you make with yours
carlee, you make the dough in the machine and then bake in the oven?
ACk!!! 23 V words
i do pulla, cinnamon buns, bagels, pizza dough, cinnamon raison bread, cheese bread, soft dough pretzels,
wow!!! carlee
foccacia, dinner rolls, pumpernickle
drop in ingredients... let the machine to the hard work..u shape and let rise for final rise...then bake
oh..and monkey bread..i forgot monbread ( kids would KILL me )
hmm, will have to think about it then, what is monkey bread
is this a nice grid or am I still too sleepy?
so you save money by using the machine
only found 64 words so far
and none of the long ones
u take bits of sweet dough....make into a round..roll it in brown sugar and cinnamon..then drop into a tube pan... take all ur dough do same...then bake is like little mini pull apart cinnamon bun bites
hmmm that also sounds really good
a clue for the final al 5, 10 please
hi Merk, don't have it,just started
Carlee stop it that sonunds so yummuy
i doubt that peri... likely after hydro for running appliances... and having ingredients...but...i am one of those mums that has really fit kids cus baked goods always abound so they never over in dulge
but home baked things always taste so much better, lucky kids
i have to bake something every sunday morning... the neighbours over for coffee at 10 am...
cinnamon
I have all of the al words except the al 5, 10 and al 6, 18 following it and I am frustrated. I'm not seeing something and it's probably as plain as the nose on my face.
Opps Merk i don't have it
Hear that sound? It's me grinding my teeth.
i only have the 4s
Ill look for you now merk
ALso carlee if you go to www.allrecipes.com and search bread you may find things interesting
ty, I appreciate that.
yeap... iknow i use that site almost daily... its a nice site
I have the al plus the tiny inscet that raids your picninc
I use it too, it is a nice site
That and www.taste.com.au
merk, is it the a double cons, double vowels, then plural?
yeap.i use that one now too...man..my head hurts...
How many al 5s are there?
No, I have that one ... the countries that are friends.
I love allrecipes for the conversion and size factor. Pardon my poor spellling i am stuffing steak into my trap
four, one is a 5, 12 and one a 5, 16.
Two are 5,10
Merk I have 2 al6/18
i love it for the ratings.... i figure if I never rate teh recipe and loads of peope I kow use the site and they don't bother to rate..if a recipe has 200+ 5*'s..it must be pretty darn good
ok sorry run that by me again in one sentance
so you need one of the 2 a 5 10s?
Peri, I am missing the first 6, 18 and the 5 that comes before it.
Yes, I need the second one.
oh god not sure if I can...i like the ratings...most people do not take the time to rate..but if a recipe has 5 *'s....it m ust be pretty darn good
how many al6/18's are there
two
I have the al pros ??? cons, and the al picnic pest
al picnic pest?
ant
opps how did that happen
So another word for ants?
no alant
opps
SIN BIN
That is the al 5,10 that I already have. I need one that comes after the al 4,7.
my how did that possibly happen. Wonders of to the pb
the al6/18 are very similar the first is the plural of the al5/10 (to the sheltered side with double consonant and double vowel
shoot i have heaps missing then let me look again
merk a + doub cons + double vowel
then plural
Thanks and Hi Neli. Trying to eat my tea before it goes cold and chewie
ty, never heard of that one before.
taking a break, bbl
Later Peri
nibbling cheese curds
take care peri
Carlee im going to try to make blueberry muffins tommorrow and i agree with the comment about ratings at allrecipes
Most of the recipes i use at taste are from superfood ideas and australian good taste as they are really easy and non frue
( make sure u use a recipe that calls for either lemon juice or lemon rind in the recipe....even if u don't like...make sure u add just a bit of lemon)
boosts the blueberry flavour....
Carlee i cant use citrus as my b.f is highly alergic to it
There are froozen berries
ooh...that sucks... what ab out lemon jello then?
nope
is it the scid?
acid
Nothing lemon related I don't like to encourage him
is it the citric acid he's allergic to?
I have no idea what is in it that does it. But he gets muscle spasms and if he say used my orange lip balm his lips cracked. That only happened once and i ditched the lip balm (be it $7 a tub)
sounds like sensitive to citric acid...
that SUCKS...in this house the universal pie is lemon merrainge...is not anyone's FAV pie..but is the ONLY one everyone likes
oh and lemon donuts..I do them too
this grid sucks
Yep id say so. I am really careful no orange juice that kinda thing. He says its ok but i don't want to
brb
oof and we go through TONNES of home made lemonade..especially if kids sick
Yum
Oh dear looks like my net is having a stupid moment again
happens
The phone company that has our lines is updating and we drop out and grrr
How is Hubby Carlee
ah.....yea... hubby is doing well...drivng me NUTSO but he is doing well
That is great that he is getting there

wow early. WHy u up?
full head....stuffy..started sneezing..now waitin gon cinnabons to see if dough right consistancy orif needs more milk..then will go back to sleep
yum to food err to head
yea..lack of air to head
that is bad
i'll live
still err

Good Day Ata! Hi Carleekat and Lady too!
I am struggling to get to half the words, then I'll let myself stop!
LOL :) I'm just starting. I have 14 words!
Hi..I've just given up w 55 to find and gone to Lickety
My husband took the kids to see Pipi Longstocking on the big screen at the cinema so I have an hour to myself....ahhhh. Next on my agenda is a short nap!
Hi Lynxxx!
Hi and sorry carlee i didn't see your comment
How old are yr kids marmar?
Nine, eight and six. The littlest will start 1st grade this fall.
What a nice age group. And what are you going to do with all that extra time!
...the ironing! : )
haha - thats what I said when I retired - guess what!
Oh, I hope you're going to tell me the ironing will NEVER get done!
I hate ironing!!!
there are much more important things to do than ironing
Hang up everything on the line then fold it up most stuff doesn't need an iron. I don't use one
THANK you. Finally someone said it!
exactly herin. Only iron what you *have* to, and thats not a lot
Lady, I do that a lot, but I have to try to hide that from my mother-in-law. We are all in the same house and she is typical German lady, she irons underwear and everything else. But don't get me wrong, she is an angel, we just have different work ethics!
Marmar my mum is like that
stick up for yourself :P you have better things to do than iron underwear and socks :)
She is really dear, she accepts me as I am, and I her. We actually fit together well...like ying and yang.
she sounds wonderful really :)
that is nice though marmar
gm u
oops - lo
i need to find my mobil and harras the b.f into returning home soon
oops = lol
does she iron socks? my mum does. it always astounds me!
gm y'all from north carolina, use - gl2
I am blessed, I have to say. She had to live for over 30 years with a wicked mother-in-law and when she had kids she swore she would never act like that to her daughter-in-laws and she hasnt.
usa 2
awww!
Hi Nance.
Marmar is that the norm in your area to have MIL at your house?
HI Nance
Hi Nance
i hope life is going y'alls way
Yes, you almost have to inherit land or a house here, SO expensive to build. Lots of my friends are either in the house with parents/in-laws, or built or moved in next door or at least in the same village.
whereabouts in germany are you?
Hello everyone!
North of Frankfurt am Main. The biggest city close to us is Giessen.
good day Brookie!
ok wow. If you stuck my future MIL and me together it would be bad. We are both obsessive compulsives on some level
Hi Brookie
hey Brookie
morning all
I know Lady, that's about what all my American friends say. But it's so unnormal over there and pretty common here.
morning jakes mum
flat
gm jakes
Jakes-mum! How are you?

Hi Jakes and Lily's mum how are you
Hi JakesMum

ok - ty y'all
how long have y'all been members?
may I have clues for the 8's, know what they start with, just don't see them
nance--if you sign up for Facebook, there are 2 addicting games called Noggin and Scramble.
if you click on ppl's profiles, you can see, nance
i have joined there after y'all informed me of them
thx again
Yes, she is, Lynxxx! And any minute now, when she finishes devouring her morning salad, she will come hopping into this room.
glad I'm not the only one struggling with the long ones today peri
how I am meant to find words when Silverclaw's tail is waving in front of the grid
I finally found fa9--I was starting with opp of TRUE
made the same mistake scrabbler
Ata, pretend it is a windshield wiper.
co8.60 to invade another country is to co***er it & *** Fleming the writer

uhoh. cat screen wiper is back
lol - at church i mean - lol - silly scabbler
Hi Silverclaw! I once had a hamster named Greycliffe.
silly scrabbler!
i need more help than that
really? that's a *great* name!
I loved the name too. There is a mansion on the lake here and the estate is called Greycliffe.
fabulous! Silverclaw is an olde fashioned alternative name for Titania, the queen of the fairies. Thats how Sily got her impressive name
I like cool names like that.
me too. Hobbit came with her name. Well, she came to us as Holly, now she's Holly Hobbit
Well, I must leave with 146 to go. The Catholic Physician Association is having Mass and then breakfast with the bishop, and a speaker will then, well, speak to us.
ok - i can't c anymore words right now - bbl - tc & hp - byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
One of my rabbits is Gandalf the Grey.
have a good morning and enjoy being spoken to!
snowing again. Don't mind the snow but would love some sunshine. Can feel the vitamin D trickling out of my pores.
I know! I've always been impressed with you having Gandalf! We never hear enough about him
I'd love to see how Merp would react to your rabbits!
bye Scrabs
*sends sunshine to eva* for once we have sunshine
thank you ata! I'm scooping it up
I'm just basking in it at the moment
We really wanted to go someplace sunny this winter, but leaving the house and Merp is tricky. Maybe in March when we are truly at our wits ends, bogged down in mud, but don't have to worry so much about freezing pipes.
mmm yes. its no fun going away and worrying constantly about pipes
It's still hard to leave Merp for more than a week without having someone stay here. He gets very lonely and stressed and then develops urinary stones. But hey, at least we don't have to pay for college.
awww I bet
so if any cat lovers out there want to take a Vermont vacation some time in March or April and meet the famous Merp.....
come to think of it, this does seem like the perfect venue for house swapping
only if you want to take a UK vacation and come and look after Silverclaw at the same time ;)
I'd love to meet Silverclaw, but was thinking a little more tropical than the UK(-:
lol I bet!
okay, have to feed the beast and make a huge vat of black bean chili for the local Fire on Ice festival (bon fires and dancing in the freezing cold.
mmmmm! I should go feed the monster too
sounds interesting..have fun Eva
brb. I want food, cat wants food
i think im going to go make chocolate chip cookies
Hi again....clue please for se6/27?
se6.27 shiny sparkly beading

clues for the 9s plz
I did them a little while ago MM, look in the chat log
eq9 - incorporates vo5,18
can I help with any other clues b4 I go?
ta7/40 please?
thanks lynxx! if I didn't still have 78 words left, I'd ask for your help!
the fa8 plz
sorry, i meant the fa9
ta7.40 is compound. ta4.4 + a *** will keep you cool on a hot day
fa9 is an untruth
thanx lynxxx!
actually untruths as the fa9 is plural
that clue doesn't help me, lynxxx

Hi all, quite new, going along and getting the hang of things. 55 to go (groan) including SIX seven letter words. Anyone got any clues? Please. I have 1 x va, 1 x ta, 1 x se. All help very gratefully received from a novice.
Welcome, Jandy! I would love to help but I just arrived. I do have one 7 which is a ta7/28 = add up scores...hope that helps.
Everything helps! Getting better, but I would really love to finish off just one of these suckers!
Everything helps! Getting better, but I would really love to finish off just one of these suckers!
You're doing very well so hang in there--you can finish!
there is a ci7 that is the plural of ci6/30, which uses the large-score tile

I tried the Shiraz and the Merlot. I love red wine
Well, I started on a pink Zinfandel, which is not as popular here as it is in the US.... then a muscat... then a sparklig...
( where in canada are u sukee?...I'm in south western ont )
Kitchener
sarnia
lol Jandy
Hi all
une, is the va JUST like the ta7/28 ? I can't get it to work!!!
i love pink Zinfandel on a summers evening
We are very spoilt here for good red wine at great prices, sukee... you should definitely move. It's not that far...
i work in a do it urself wine store... we have 2 produst there that made specifically to compete with the yellow tail popularity
yes, nonnie
I have a friend from college who lives in Sarnia now
cool....sarnia is a nice town...quiet...
no vallies is not in the grid..va7 is a group of people who graffiti, broke windows and community terrorists lol
home of mike weir and dino cicarelli
*break*
Yellow tail is very small here... only marketed locally as a response to the popularity internationally
oh, i'm so sorry . . . just got up and am in a pre-coffee stupor--sorry for the confusion!!
cats pee on the gooseberry bush is becoming a very pop chardonnay here
And my Swedish husband just said "Otherwise known as Norwegian settlers" for that va7 -- LOL!
and he's right!
Chardonnay has kind of had its moment in the sun here... especially the kind that reeks of oak...
lol, I love the names they are coming up with now. I also like a French wine called Fat Bastard
same make...
i think
are you serious carlee?

Merlot is very underrated... smooth and easy drinking when it's good...

And makes me regret drinking it all tonight!

Woo hoo! Only 46 to go, and over 2000 for the first time ever. Quarter past one in the morning, and me and my drunk fingers are going to bed. Thanks so much for the warm welcome and your help. See you soon!
hi jakes and lily's mum how are you all? *Ummm, freshly baked cookies*
hello everyone!
night jandy, hope to see you again soon!!
we are fine miss lily is snoring (passes pink a freshly baked gooey choc chip cookie)
Hello AnnieB!!
hi pink~how is lil pink?
hi annieB!
Jakes, how is Lily and Jake?
lily is snoring on me and jake is very tired having been to a panto on friday and my sisters wedding party last night (no bed till 1:30am it seems)
congrats for sisiter's wedding, I am sure Jake had a great time
little pink is eating her porridge watching Balamory...making a mess a per, but is very well indeed!!
coming up for air.. hi Annie, jakes-mum.. what is a "panto"?
are they on honeymoon now Jakes?
pink, has you continued her potty training?
she actually got married in calgary in nov but had a party here yesterday for those of us that couldn't go. unfortunately lily's arrival meant we missed that too!
hi Aloy!
panto = pantomime
ah, so.. ty jakes-mum
np aloy
she isn't ready annie, i will try again in summertime. Example, i left her nappy off a couple weeks back, and she decided to pee on the floor beside the potty. When her nappy is on she will sit on it for ages. What makes it worse, is, the fact she understands what a potty is for and still wont use it...she drives me mad!!
good morning, babble friends - - my a boxes are almost grey - just need an 6/18 (the one after the first an 4 referring to a body part)
pink, not to fret!--she will go to it one day and just do it...will be soon..
jbv-it's a spice beginning with a woman's name
dont worry pink, jake took ages to use a potty, just didn't want to! then one day he used it and never looked back
JBV--an is a spice usually in spanish and cuban cooking
oh and an 7 - is it related to the 6 before it - can't seem to get it
double the first cons in the an4
i am getting a little anxious, she begins nursery in January next year (i know that is miles away) but if she is struggling now, maybe she wont get it in time
thanks, eva and annie - weird - we actually use that in our cooking all the time!
yw
pink, I remember saying to my daughter (who will be 40 this month), "I think it is time you used the potty" and that was it. She was nearing 3 and she was quite ready
I'm also baffled by the an 7
add another cons to the an6 Eva
but that was the 7 , I still the an 6/18 after the 4
oh, I see thanks pinkhat
pink, be happy it isn't like my nephew who took to the idea of going in the potty too well. in fact he took to going in anything potty shaped, waste basket, plant pot or my fave he got into the cupboard hauled out the stock pot and left a big no. 2. took me days to stop laughing. and years before i'd accept a dinner invitation again.
- a cons fro the an7 then
LOLOL
thanks again pinkhatlil
bonkler, that is hilarious
potty stories too cute - glad i'm well past that, tho
morning all - I've been lurking for days (not admitting readdiction) but that story bonkler - LOL
hi green
hi Annie
Hi asgreen!!
Pink - my daughter was 2.5 and had no interest. I left her running around all summer without a nappy on and one day she came to me and asked for a biccie - I said not until she had a wee on the potty - she wandered off, came back a few mins later and had done the deed and was dry during the day after that. She is 21 in 44 days (she tells me!) and in the great scheme of things what does it matter if they are a bit late starting
hi green
hey pink and Brookie
Good morning babblers!
morning charm!
Pink - I had to potty train b/g twins...that was nuts
Charm! long time....how are you?
I was lurking and reading (laughing) about potty woes. My son, too, was reluctant to sit on it. My pediatrician's advice was to not worry. He would be trained some time before he got to college.
the nursery school wont accept her if she is not clean
Hi, Brookie.
one day girl twin sat on the portable potty, and boy stood and watched, proceeded to pull down his pants and peed just about on her - he was too excited to wait his turn
Annie! A long time, I know. Doing well. New year. New resolutions. Life is good.
Hi Charm, Scary and anyone else i missed!!
Hi, pink.
now they are 9 - and I can't get my son out of the bathroom some days!
LOL
lol, charm.. hi there, great to see you!
Hi Pink - im sure she will get there in time
Charm, so nice to see you again....welcome back to Babbleland
Hi, Aloy! How are you?
hey hubby's name is in the grid today
fine, fine, superfine,... and you?
Thanks, Annie. Hoping to be able to babble regularly now that the holidays are over.
the best thing about pottie stories like that is reminding them once they've grown up. his other famous deed was at about two years of age when he plunged his hand into the back of his diaper and pulled out a brown surprise. he curled his lip in distaste and threw the offending turd with great force. right into the midst of my sisters christmas tree. i nearly choked to death i was laughing so hard. between the look on his face, the pitch and my sister's reaction...
Aloy - superfine must be nice! Not quite superfine, but almost there .... almost
the Barbie underpants did it for us Pink - who wants to pee on Barbie? And then my competitive son got right in on the game. Here, 2 1/2 is early for boys....so hang in there!
LOLOLOLOL
(-:
bonkler, again hilarious....how did he turn out?
he's a church deacon with four boys of his own.
bonk, I bet he laughs at his past misdeed re: the potty stage
*misdeeds*
lil pink needs changing brb
he laughs now, but he turned a goodly purple when those stories would get shared with his friends and first girl friends. these things are frustrating for the parent in the moment but they make great ammunition for adolescence.
bonk, Just looked at your icon....iggy's eyes are beautiful...she or he can certainly stare you down as any cat can but those eyes,,,
ok - off to spend time w/family - good chatting again!
yeah, iggy's not lacking in intensity. lol. she turned 19 in december and she's slowed down a lot but in her day she scared a lot of people. she's also a rather large girl at her peak about 16 lbs. and looks bigger for the fur.
bye green
looking for ch 5/6 pair, found phantom anchovy, but that doesn't help - will I get a bigger fish for these???

yes, that vi is another word for periwinkle!
i must have a different grid then
it's not in the dictionary
ok, thanks hurshy, thought I had tried that!
not in the dictionary because it's a proper noun
of course it's not in the dictionary, it's proper. if i used actual words, then that would be bad.
never mind!
ty grammaterri1!
yw mac
no way are there 23 v words in this grid...

i know, but still, I should be more careful (assiduously scanning this post before hitting send button)
I have the al6,18 that sounds like back street where you can find ca4... it's the one before that (and the 5 before that) that are eluding me
Did al5,10 (2nd one) get clued?
no lady, it's another sounds like

We have had not water all day (burst pipe in street) and I have hub and son cooking calamari and trimmings - wonder what they going to do with the dishes and believe me they make piles of dishes
al 5/10: french boulevard
ty dan
let the dog lick em clean ursh
Mind you they both fully believe in the dish wasing fairies - you just leave the dishes in the sink and the fairies come and wash them
thats what dogs are for
yep
My son still believes in that fairy, Ursh.:(
and then rinse 'em with some white vinegar or something maybe?
an7?
Good plan - fat spaniel in this house
my whole family believes in dish washing fairies as well and i hate wakin up in morning and finding dishes in sink lol
lol ursh
it's very sad. there are no dish fairies in my house... no matter how long i leave the dishes, they stay there :(
I will just hide in here and then go out later and check the damages
good plan
Oh jes the dishwashing fairies only work if you truly believe in them and most women dont truly believe but men truly truly believe
i think that's true of a lot of things. ;-)
and hi all
hmm. so if i get a man, then i won't have to wash dishes anymore?
mexican food words in this grid making me hungry for lunch
that seems...tenuous reasoning.
good luck with that jessD
hi jess hi jbp hi ursh
Also, the dishwashing fairies only visit households with more than one person.
hi TO.
get a man with a lower tolerance for dirty dishes than yours, jes. They are very rare to find.
heh. i think i'll not necessarily get a man just for that reason...he'll have to have something else going for him ;)
my dad is one. he even dries the sink after he washes .
myhusband is too. except he doesn't wash the d**n things, just bugs me constantly to wash them!
got the an7
aww. ata, you should let him see you washing the dishes by dog--maybe then he'll do them himself?
ah...in my exhusband's family, there wer dishes everywhere sometimes. they even went to bed with dirty dishes in the sink. i cannot abide that, despite my propensity for clutter.
i mean at times there was not a clean dish to eat from
firewords! thanks all cluers. now must lunch
have fun, dan
grats, dan!
the dog is certainly better at doing teh dishes than me
this is a frustrating grid. there should be an e in the top half too!
The chatlog, at present, is far more amusing than the grid.
it usually is
i may have to go visit lickety before i get half way
HI Ho everyone

i have 3x qu 5 16, what are other 2 pls
So I had to get Spangle's lead and recapture him. I felt a bit guilty as he would have loved a run about.
Speaking of pets, mine has chosen to sit out on the screened porch in themidst of a snowstorm in the hope of staring at the birds flocking to the feeder. But I'd better offer her the opportunity to change her mind about sitting in the now.
*stifled cry* I want a dog and a cat and a horse again.
Could Silverclaw have indlulged in wormwood?
Enjoying a dish of custard that I found in the grid...
i just want a dog again
yuk i hate custard
Oh, Douglas, you need to be careful eating stuff you find in the grid!
lol vi! silly thing
See, you see it as custard, Douglas, others see it as hardened clay.
Hello Andree sorry missed greeting you when you arrived.
hi fmitch
quite possibly ... I do have 2 bottles of absinthe here ...
Well, there you are.
(Sitting in the snow, I mean. She is not a Zen cat to enjoy sitting in the now, either, though.)
It was a bizarre conversation
8am monday, public holiday so no work today so i get to babble
hello peoples !!!....I'm back it seems... lots of problems with 'puter !!!
hi karys
Hello Karys! And nice smiley cat. Booo to bad computers.
Hello, Andree, and Karys.
8am Monday morning, there is an abrupt reminder of reality. Hi Karys and smiley cat, nice to see you.
and with good news....Charlie Cat is all better again, lampshade gone, stitches out, can go in and out as he pleases again !!!
yayyy!
Hurray! And congratulations on calling him a normal name. Not like Compost the Cat currently in the surgery.
Good to hear that Karys
*still giggling about Compost*
ooops....didn't read back and thought FMitch was having a 'moment'...cos it's not Monday morning here !
Oh, FMitch still has her moments.
people don't even call there kids normal names anymore haz so what chance does a cat have
But we're hoping the pills will work better.
every moment, in fact
Moi, I never have moments!
A life without any moments would be extremely short.
poor Compost... there was a Staffie at the vet's called Frank
whats the strangest name for a pet you've ever come across, haz?
I once knew a Siamese called Dave
I know, Andree - the least imaginative feline name I know is 'Puss Puss'.
need fa 9 clue.
When we got our cat from the pound her name was Kitty.
I don't think that is really Vicuna playing today someone else is using her name.
we did have a cat called 'Cat' a long time ago
A friend of a friend has two cats: "Bob" and "TheOtherOne"
What's giving it away, FM?
Come to think of it, I do know a cat called Kat.
a friend named their cat "The Boy"
haz clues for ca words that are 5s and 6s please
fa9 [not truths] f + ...4 one +not duecies
we used to have a cat called Popsy Blossomflower. and another called Ethel
You're talking weird Audrey Hepburn had a cat called cat in one of her films
Was the kitty from the pound a pretty kitty?
ca 6 30 people who like exploring large holes in rocks & hills
cat was in Breakfast at Tiffanys
Of course, thanks jes.
To tell the truth (and don't hurt me, all you cat people) I think she's an extremely ugly color. But she has the most masterful purr. Her name did not remain Kitty. It is Nightshade now. (Deadly Nightshade in full, but that's a bit much for everyday use.)
I like NIghtshade. It sounds mysterious without being dangerous or threatening.
no worries ;)
ty ndan for ca clues. got two words.
what color is she, vic?
used to treat a big old tomcat named "Girl"
ca 12 last name of opera singer Maria - last letter
hi, all
that was ca 5 12
the trouble with some of the stranger names comes when standing on the step, calling
hello pam :)
She's sort of all the tabby colors, but all mixed up like mud without pretty spots or stripes or anything. And she has an unfortunate complexion: her face is blotchy. But she is the triumph of personality over good looks.
hi pam
ndan, that fa 9, got first part but not second. can you clue again? ty
Hello, pam.
Pam! Hi & how are you?
lol the opposite of silverclaw then!
tortishell then?
hi, jes, karys, vic, and all
No, more like tortoishell in a blender. With mud.
Vi that is the same story for so many of us :)
can someone help me with the other 8 please, I have the co8/60
well, torties are not always beautifully patterned. but they do tend not to get eaten by owls, since they're so hard to see
Well, I like to think it proves what an unshallow person I am.
fa9 [means not truths] first 3 letters of autumn season + how baby would say they tie their sneakers with
mkg, have you tried morewords.com haz recommended it to me when i started playing and it is invaluable
va8 means in the way of the va6
an7/28 anyone?
clue for an7/28 please?
please....sry
I'll try to be comforted by that, jesdraggon! But she's an indoor cat, so I hope she won't come up against too many owls!
an 7 has an extra double consonant from the an6/18
thank you jes.....I will look
an7/28 - variant of the an6/18, coloring for food
that's good, vic! indoor cats tend to live lots longer
an7/28 - another version of lipstick tree (an6/18) with a double distribution of double consonants
what does 7/28 mean?
an 7 28 first name in the King & I + the right hand double cons from there + 4th vowel
Vi does she sit right where you are trying to work and feign uninterest?
Silverclaw is just beautiful. Sigh.
ndan, i have first 5 letters of the fa 9, but not deuces is what i cant figure from.
7 means that it is 7 letters long, and it yields 28 points. (add up the points on the letters in the word and multiply by 4)
No, she sits right where I am trying to work and licks my chin, which makes me itch!
who is silverclaw>
she's just trying to make sure you're clean down to your soul, vic ;)
that's what u call 2s in some card games, what do you call ones
The only time I ever use qu5 is when it's followed by the words "an insurrection"
Aw that is even better
Phone....
it's said so the saying shymes
rhymes, even
didn't know there was a qu--thanks, douglas, for a cool clue!
quell
Pam Silverclaw is Ata's elegant cat, you can see pics in her flickr
Hi Pam!
cool--thanks, fmitch
Lots of Qu's today...
oops, pb, i know
oops, pb, i know
there are 5 qu's, pam
Hi
yw pam
Silverclaw is very very beautiful, but she's only just starting to have a real personality
hullo lady
LOL nD
Waves
went to the morewords.com and put in 9 letter words beginning with f. went to the not true word and well it isnt in the grid. now what??????
Hello, herinfernal.
Try doing it again?
Is the 9 on F?
it's a plural of word that ends in y
thx - i got the an7/28 after much help and thinking
vic--how's your kitty compare to the kitty on the left in this one? http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/ DraggonLaady/Pets/?action=view¤t =cca91832.jpg
Are you using the plural, because there's no Y in the grid, mkg?
nice cat, ata, glad thepersonality is coming to the fore
hi herin
Hi VIcuna
I just started, red, and the q isnt the first letter I usually go for! And, I have to leave soon, to visit the kitten of friends who went away
Hang on, let me find a picture of Nightshade to put up...
first part of f9 is also the name of a season
Hi ANdree and hi back
fa 9 --- add a season and tess trueheart's cartoon detective dick's pluralized last name tr*****
hi, herin and babbler
mkg - you tie shoe -----; now babyize that word for the ending
Thanks Babble
Hi Back everyone
hi i have 3 qu 5s and 1 qu 4.7 can i have help with clue for the qu i am missing thnx
and the fa 9 is in the wordfinder
you're missing another qu5, madd
ok lets go back..............it is not the fa 5 but the fa 4 that is the beginning! so for starters that was confusing me. then if i take the fa 4 now i can go forward. i was using the wrong begining. the beginning is season, not the opposite of true! ok so forward.
they are all 5/16's
hello herin...I am here, but trying to get done !
HI Karys long time
ok
Mkg means not truths plurals
ok
la5/10 please?
fa9 the definiton of the word is the opposite of true
Can someone clue the lipstick plant please?
lipstick plant?????
opp of truths
la5/10 is a decorative vining plant
for the qu 5s i have the pen like object, to stop, and the wall thing what am i missing
now i got it. that clue of opposite of true got me off track totally! first part is season and then i can do it.
1st an6/18 please
ty all
the insult--sounds like king's wife
Betty, if you google Lipstick tree, the word will pop pretty much right up. easier than trying to clue it.
did i screw that clue up?
if you have the an7 28, single the first double
la 5 -- add use a hammer to hit the ***l on the head
There. Refresh to see the undistinguished color.
I tried that and got a word not in the grid but I'll try again. Thanks.
I am so lost Hi red
you have to adjust it a teeny tiny bit Betty.
Hi Herin.
VICUNA! she is beautiful!
thanks babble....
Is that a calico or a tortie thats a little washed out Vi? She's quite pretty...
got it thnx jes
an 6 --- add general george P****n
Vi how could you she is lovely.
definitely tortishell, vic. depending on who you talk to, she might be called a pastel or dilute, because the black's not really black.
Vic did you make that quilt?
lol, Ata! So speaks a true cat lover! But I never said she was entirely ugly... I just don't like the color! =)
ALso KITTY is pretty
have that an, must be the other 6/18 i am after
but usually the pastels have more of a buff than orange
*grins* what colour would you prefer?
May I have an ov5,16 clue?
Thanks babble and others. Got it finally.
the second an 6 is a plural
She really is lovely Vi, and I do not ever own cats...
Yes, I made the quilt. It's a wall hanging, which is why it is so helpful of the cat to lie on it and shed...
bob pluiral above
Ov round shape you play footy on one
ov is plural of ov4
Lovely Quilt Vic
[lural
an 5 --- first name of karenina; pl
plural
she's making a protective layer for it
I wanted a tuxedo cat or a marmalade cat, or one of those soft all-over grey ones without stripes...
WOW, now I feel stupid. Ha ha
I was using the wrong L.
I found out how neglected my cat was when she lived with the last owner. Thank gods that i rescued her and i don't really have much do to with the past owner. I was NOT amused
There was an incredibly handsome tuxedo kitten at the pound and we were busily filling out the papers for him, when we realized that he was more interested in the other cats than in the people...
My Mom has a gray one like that Vi, hes super soft, but very flitty and not friendly, so of course, she named him friendly..
Vic the kitty picked you
should be an 5 --- first name of karenina + a consonant; pl
And as we planned to have only one cat, we knew he would not be happy with us. So we quickly changed our minds.
red--how are you feeling?
Actually, better, Pam. still very tired, but definitely getting better. Yay for antibiotics, and thanks for asking...
Can I have a clue for va8,65?
I'm going to try to function properly tomorro...
Red glad you are getting better
Great! Am really glad, red!
va8, make va6 into an adjective
va8 is derived from va6--means 'in the way of'
va8/65 - adj form of the people who danage property
damage
I need to find my kitty to hug. Im still upset at how she was treated
Me too. Unfortunately, missed three weeks of my half Marathon training, and have only 5 weeks now... Oops.
or similar to
Today is holocaust memorial day? I thought Yom HaShoah was in April or May?
you were too sick to train...
those in the way of get run over
Apparently today is the British Holocaust Memorial day...
what did they do toher, herin?
ahhh, thanks, red
heh. thanks bab
Got it, thanks
So, will have trouble with the half, but am already registered and meeting friends, so it will jst have to be 2.5 hours of sloooow running. blleeech.
today is not holocaust memorial day! it is indeed in may. i will get the date off of my calender. as to britain, well it is weird if they do it today. but didnt the brits stop teaching holocaust in schools so they dont offend the muslims? i think i read that.
What do animals read in zoos?
not quite mkg
No, mkg, that was one school.
Gnus papers.
and yes, its Holocaust Memorial Day today
Are they teaching the zoo animals to read now, BabRab?
It is the British Holocaust Memorial Day MKG. I think any day would be fine for a memorial, I dont particulaly see it as wierd.
very nice Babble R.
here it is from snopes, mkg: http://www.snopes.com/politics/religio n/holocaust.asp
an ambitious bunch those gnus are
I agree, red. I was just confused.
LOLOL, babblerabble
Ata. The feed her twice a day instead of 3 times aday (kitten needs more food) kept her in a caravan never really changed her dirt box and never really spent much time with her. Her yowls actually made someone in the main house move into the lounge. No wonder she wigs out if i go into the back yard. That means coming in NOW where as front is ok later
I know Pam, I was responding to MKG stating that this was wierd...
I guess if they're printing a paper it is in their interest to ensure a readership.
thanks, red
I am dreading heading out...
back again to clue for a while - anyone need help?
poor darling!
hi, jbv
It's Gary Gnu, with the Gnus!
I could use fl6,27
or is that gnews?
hi jbv
no, it's a gnuisance, jes
plural of the fl5/16
heading out, that is what wheat does as it matures
bye bab
fl 6 is a type of flask
ciao, babbler
how do I get an icon, etc?
hey, before you go, bab, here's a riddle you might enjoy--
what's red and looks like a bucket?
fl 6 is a plural
sorry that was 6/30
yom hashoah, or holocaust memorial day is on the 27th of nissan, which is this yeaer on the 2nd of may. that is the official jewish day at least. go to google and put in holocaust m emorial day to see this.
jes had it
Thanks Jas
jes*
welcome, bob :)
sure, mkg, but I don't think it hurts anyone if it is commemorated more than once a year. Wouldn't mind if on all of those days, Darfur, Cambodia, and Rwanda, to name a few, were mentioned...
Yes well she was a skinny little runt when we got her. Needless to say shes a stocky little floof head. I feed her dine clean the dirt box every day, spemd $30 a fortnight on food for her and spend $30 a month and a half on high end kitty litter. Spoiled much
blue bucket in disguise :)
returtle, you are right any day is fine since the holocuast was all the time for years and years on end.
The 27th Memorial dayis in Britian
Why is it such a big deal to you that it is the theme for today mkg?
Hee hee, jesdraggon! =D
But again...MKG in the UK Holocaust Memorial Day is January 27th. so that is why we have the Holocaust Memorial Icons.
LOL, sounds like a great match, herin! My animals eat better than I do on most days, LOL
Puts head back into the grid.
Pam i feed her high end food. Spoiled much.
oh it is the theme for today? i didnt know that it was. sorry, i thought you were all trying to find o ut what day it was officially. sorry. not a big deal to me but wanted to answer the question of when it was.
I'm a beggar today. :) Can I also have st5,12?
I feed my dog high end deli meat--I haven't eaten meatin over 25 years, LOL
Thanks MKG that is interesting
It's my last ST
song: St*** by me
And, my cat LOVES turkey, herin, so I buy her that, too....
st5/12 - get up, Bob!
Officially, if you lived in London, MKG it would be A state recognition of the Holocaust.
make a st5, bob :)
thanks, UNE...
Thanks guys.
yw :-)
i am happy to hear that the state does t his. american doesnt do it at all. nor do other natiions. israel does.
This game is making me feel inept, and normally I'm pretty good at this sort of thing.
Pam i get turkey cat food. Oh and i feed her ergo she can be a royal pain in the arse to feed. I had to poke the food the other day when the b.f fed her
phantom: belabor
phantom: belabor
Bob, its good to get out of your comfort zone.
one of these aeons, it will be "a" holocaust because we have learned nothing, Half of the time, I see no recognition of the 7 million non-jews who were exterminated, or of the other exterminations past and present. ....
No need to belabor the point, BabRab! ;)
She sounds spoiled rotten,herin 8-)
rofl, babbler and vic
don't feel inept, bob--we all struggle with the grids! :-)
That is one of the reasons i didn't do the icon.
Bob Babble does that to us all from time to time.
phantom--flavor
I did learn about them in high school, Pam, but...I went to a sort of liberal/progressive high school...
Pam she is not spoiled not at all (not a lot anyway) oh and yes she sleeps on the bed
I learned about them more in Hebrew school, where my teachers made a point of incorporating the 13 million into our lessons...
LOL, herin
No Hebrew School for me...considering I am not Jewish it would have been unusual to send me.
Pam are you of Jewish Background?
My Hebrew teachers, and my college Hebrew professors drew the connections and really impressed that upon me
Yes, herin, though agnostic, I am jewish culturally...
LOL, red. I begged my friends to take me to high mass and ash wed service so I could see them... and it was more similar than not...
I like jewish culture. I want to do a jewish wedding even though I am not jewish by faith or culture.
Ok Pam i find that interesting
i think i was told stalin murdered 20 million people. did anyone else hear that? or was it that 20 million total died because of WW2? i cant recall.
There were several Gluags in Russia at that time MKG, you can read about it in "The Gulag Archipeligo" which I read in High School.
err Gulags. Work camps.
I'll just jump in here. 9 million were killed in the holocaust, 6 million were Jews. It is estimated that Stalin killed 20 million people, many or most after the end of WWII
did anyone see that story on the news about a French priest who is doing oral histories with older Ukrainian citizens who witnessed massacres of jews in the ukraine? I think whatever numbers we now have as estimates will be corrected upwards - we will probably never know the real number
O if you prefer something shorter, a very interesting read is "The Long Walk" about 3 men who escaped from a work camp in Siberia and somehow survived to walk all the way to india...It is a true story..quite sad.
26 million Russians died during the 2nd world war
No one will ever know the real numbers as no one at the time wanted to know or could have known
well, god convinced the devil to seek refuge in a pig, and then stampeded the pigs over a cliff
what?
Im making a note of The Long Walk red. What a journey that must have been on many levels.
jbv you are sooooooo correct. i have had survivors tell me that they witnessed the nazis mow down with guns dozens of people just rounded up in the streets of a ghetto or town. and there were no records of these people. the 6 million comes from what the nazis had records of. my girlfriends father had 2 kids before the holocaust and when he was rounded up in the lutz ghetto, they took his wife and kids and all other women with young kids and just shot them all with a machine gun and then had other jews dig a mass grave and put them in. there is no record of how many because often no one in their extended families survived to give names etc.
red what is the name of the book? long walk? i must read it.
It's author is a Polish man, FMitch. WHo now lives in Britian, I foudn the book riveting, as I know I would not have been that brave!
i think the pigs did the stampeding of their own accord
that's what I found fascinating about the Ukraine story - a large number of witnesses now coming forward about deaths that were unaccounted for before now
Thanks red
it was very moving - old men and women breaking down and crying in 2008 in retelling what they saw as children
they teach "the long walk" to the boys at the school where i used to live
Crud...now that my sinuses are a bit better, too much onions in the Mashed potatos is making my tummy feel wonky.
oh, red!!!!
sorry to hear you are not feeling well, red
drink some milk?
Hi everyone, Tell me what other word games you play on line....I'm always looking for more

It's always slow for me

My cat has just rediscovered evil Maurice Stick
beginning of april krista
hi feather
how is everyone?
Good
I'll have to tell my daughter that someone I "know" is going to Egypt. She has been on a real "kick" since we went to the Tut exhibit.
How are you and kids, Feather (and hubby, he counts, too)?
Laughing my butt of at a cat that is afraid of a giant stick with a head on it
How is grid?
fine ty feather,how are you?
Seems ok so far.
I've been to egypt three times krista ;)
It's a good grid, lots to find, lots to have to ask for, lol

Hands feather bleach and glen 20
i wasn't too keen on sharm, too in your face and too touristy for me
I was just watching a Blue Planet DVD yesterday...love fishies myself, but on a layman's level. Kenya would be a bit scary now,ay.
Can I have a clue for se7,28?
oh yes. the further down egypt you go, the better the diving is
invaders like the goths and visigoths german origin ..... destructive not unlike what modern rapscallions do, the former being much more malevolent
I meant your kindergarten kids , BTW, not your own. But glad you are ok - it sucks taking care of the rest when you are sick yourself!
yes krista, we'll have to wait for the trouble to end, we were hoping to go this xmas but will have to wait and see what happens
se7 is what you use to make something airtight
we're going to jamaica in the summer and i'm looking forward to that!
Thanks Une!
Wow, you get around, lilliann!

oh, red, what a hoot!
but each time I start to train for that one, things get in the way...
Good one, Une! Me too, Red! My in-laws went recently, but didn't like it. I still want to go.
that sounds great red, the jamaicans know how to have fun !
i love reggae music
the last vi5/18 is driving me mad - any clues please?
Jamaica, from what I hear is really divided between the resorts, and the reality...so lots of people don't enjoy that aspect, from what I hear...
I also like Reggae a lot!
oh, why not krista??
vi 5 --- v + the tribe pizzaro conquered in peru
vi5/18 is a vine also known as periwinkle
or what BR said! LOL
My favorite music, Lilli! They were on a cruise, and it was one of their stops. I think they were in a touristy area with a lot of panhandlers that scared them!
exactly, red...just read what you said about the two Jamaicas, as it were
Thanks very much BR and Une! Now I can go to bed happy!!
:-D
I am having a bit of a craving for a cup of nice coffee....but it is alrady 4 in the afternoon..

oh Krista, I just saw your question...NM till the first week or so of April...
Did u get it, Bob?
Nope. :(
Oh, that's not so long. How long is your average assignment?
13 weeks is the typical. I can usually extend if I want to...
se+ ** Nino winds
we are supposed to be "temporary" but of course they never can seem to find perm to replace us...
Krista is my new best friend ever.
Getting away from the wind on the west side...
Iget the feeling you won't extend this one. :)
Mostly because of the housing, and the water...its gorgeous here, but...
the locale is not so great. Being sick for 3 weeks straight has made me dislike the place also, though it has nothing to do with it!
Bob, best friend, the 4-letter ones are always the hardest for me!
There's a second helping of custard in the grid if anyone wants one...
a full meal douglas, tex-mex, and dessert...
I can understand that, though, red..you have bad associations with the place.
Well, my new goal is to try on Monday to get all bills coming to the central address...and sort out which bills I am paying because everything is getting very jumbled....but it is nice to be able to move on!
Hi Everyone
Found the Idaho mascot in the grid...
Will you get to go home at any point in between?
Hi DR!
Hi Krista- I have been lurking for a little bit.. doing laundry
hi dr
I'm sorry to hear that, DR. The laundry part. ;)
I would like to go home but I think if I take an assignment in Texas, or somewhere between here and home, I won't. BUt I am starting to think of doing an assignment in my home state for 3 months just to try to get things a little better organized...Whew, I talk a lot.
Hi Dr.
Hi Lilliann and Red and Doug and everyone else
lol - and I ask a lot of questions. but there are such interesting people here.
Its ok Krista- cold and rainy here so not much else to do
I think most people like to be asked questions Krista...
and it helps me to think a bit out loud...
Hi Dr
on in chat
child begging me for a bath..this is a switch...be back later for the "last 137!" ...still raining? my my...thanks, red
and maybe you should find something at home Red to ground your self for a bit and get rebooted in your mind
Hi Herin- still love the kitty pix
bye krista1
bye Krista
THanks DR there is more at FLicka
I can't actually work temporarily from home, the tax laws forbid that. so, I will probably do what I did in Dec. get a job 2 hours away, and go home on my off days, which are plenty.
Bye Krista! Have a nce Bath!!!
vi5/18 first one please
Isnt that hard Red? One of my brothers may be going to Chicago for 3 weeks for training. They told him he could fly home on the weekends but He said it would be better if he just stayed there/
Thats what i mean REd not at your house but near home
for 3 weeks, i wouldnt bother, but for 13...it would be nice to go to my actual home and be able to direct the lawn guys in person, for example, and I like being in my house, oddly, I have a love affair with the master bathroom.
sounds like the frech word for meat minus the last letter, or vi *** i'm not good at clueing nana

I get it Red.
It sort of depends on whats out there in April too, I would like to high paying contract, so that tends to be California, or some oddball place in the midwest.
did you get the clue nana?
red you adventure hunter you
bllech, mercenary is what I am...
I've never been to Bonneville Salt Fl5
Or masochistic?
No, in reality these hospitals I go to are much easier places to work than my home hospital which was hugely busy and chaotic. so maybe lazy is more the appropriate term...
Red i admire what you do

So do I. I have been in enough hospitals to know that it is not easy work

il+ two vowels, then add a half moon for the 5.12 and a stick for the 5.10

no, stinker is my cat
a pleasure to help: ca then dbl stick, then first vowel and hump
mkg -- BabbleExpert puts everything on one page, with links to Resources such as Icon Themes, Morewords, etc, and the biggest help is Lickety Add, where if you enter one word it goes to your list, and more than one word goes to chat. Not much chance to be sent to the penalty box, lol
wait- there's the stinker krista!!
i got the rum scented soap right here!
ren: 9s: fa: something totally false. starts with the season above it and then adds on.
scrubba dubba dubba

got it, thanks mkg!
Awww, you're sweet
bye inge. sweet dreams.
are you at home nut?
yw bob.
aye yam for the night
ren i like your message. the idea of 6 million is very very bogus. there were many many more. why? because the 6 million is the number that the germans had records on. but ask many survivors and they will tell you how the germans went into towns and just machine gunned down entire towns and no one was left and then they just threw them into woods or had others bury them. also statistically families had many many children then. so the ratio for kids to adults was wrong for sure! think about it! adults didnt live as long, and women had babies all their lives from age 15 to 40's. again, the babies were taken and slaughtered in the villages often and then there was no record. a friend of mine talked of how they took his wife and two small kids and just murdered them right in the village square with dozens of others. there is no record of many of them.
ok, new icon
sorry to go on like that. my apologies.
I need el4,4 and el5,10, please help poor pathetic Bobbo...
el plus pros ??d cons
el+ you dont want **ts at a picnic
It's ok, mkg. People need to know and remember.
or el?? your in trouble now
got the 4,4, thanks
I am going to have to thank Sprite, due to the Volcano theme, I have discovered another National Park I want to visit in NM...
sorry all. i read lots of literature on this and have lots of friends who are either survivors or kids of survivors. lost lots of cousins and aunts and uncles as well and have the photos of them before the war. apologies.
el 5 10: el +2 vowels +stick
No need to apologize, that's what the day is for.
ty
I want to go to the Holocaust, but every picture i've ever seen is etched in my brain. I really don't think I could handle it.
MUSEUM, the HOLOCAUST MUSEUM
Where is it?
Wash. DC, not too far
mkg - my husband was one of the librarians at the museum - we must never forget
Did you live here at one time, Ren?
no, we must never forget. And never forget the gays, communists, and priests who were also slaughtered by the nazis... Totals will never be known...
i've lived a lot of places krista - my husband is from ny - we lived in va
Not to mention the uncooperative intellectuals killed for dissenting
And mentally ill/retarded, too.
looking at darfur, you'd think as a country that we did
Pam isn't that were the pink triangle came from?
and gypsies and christians
ca5,12 after the venice waterways
not to mention those, bob... I did whole papers on the stars, triangles, and etc--red, yellow, orange.. it's like niebuhr said when they came for X I did nothing, and then, there was no one when they came for me
You're right, Nut..we look the other way at plenty of atrocities going on in the world.
Yes, herin. Gays reclaimed that as a symbol of power...
Darfur now, was Rwanda, Cambodia... the lists go on...
Ok i couldn't remember but i could if i that makes sense
Did any of you see that couple on Oprah that met while the man was in a camp?
no, krista
stalin also murdered millions and millions.
She would visit him at the fence and give him an apple every day. He got moved to another camp and never saw her again until the met on a blind date in Chicago (I think) years later! It was amazing.
krista i feel it is very important to visit the museum.
i know about that couple krista. so many stories are amazing. just amazing.
http://www.oprah.com/relationships/sli de/20071114/rel_20071114_102.jhtml (and it was NYC)
There is a man that my b.fs parents know off he ran to avoid the conflict. He knew he would end in a camp so he left in the middle of the night. He crossed mountains ate dirt, ate what ever he could find. He happened across this village where this woman hid him in the attic till he could get the right papers then crossed borders and then came to Australia. He went back to the village with his wife and kids and she was still there and so was her attic. He had engraved his name on the attic wall. It was a really long but amazing story
Can I have a clue for the last ca5,12?
i have met hundreds of survivors. some are my relatives! each story seems incredible. very incredible. most feel there will be another soon and they therefore teach their kids how to survive. it is very strange. one of my aunts communicated with her husband somehow thru bread. she would never tell me how since only her daughters knew. that was so that in case it was needed they could use it again. and if too many know about it you cant use it. i asked if it was by notes in bread and she said no. so who knows? also these people went one of two ways: either they never spent money and lived poor because they felt material things dont count or they went the other way a nd were loaded with jewelry so they could use it to bribe their way out of a country as jews did always with gold and diamonds. that is why most jews tell their children to always have jewelry in case.
It rhymes with Roseanne Rosannadanna, Bob
Great story, Herin
oh boy remember how great gilda was? so so talented.
Thanks again, BFF ^_^
LOVED her! She could make me laugh like no other.
I had a 6th grade classmate whose dad, older than the rest of our dads. was a survivor who made it his mission to a) tell his story to any and all who would listen b) speak out against all hate and intolerance everywhere.
renfield, where do you live? i thought i saw the bahamas. but if husband works in d.c. that cant be.
Sure thing, Bob-o
he no longer works there mkg - we are on the texas coast right now
I know other survivors who still have an us v them mentality, which is why people like elie weisel get my deepest admiration... because the us v, them is so much easier than the growth it takes to be like elie weisel
Now there is an amazing man. Wow.
i was told that hitler murdered 5 million who werent jews. 5 million mostly christians. and again i will bet that is a low figure since he took so many poles as slaves in camps that were labor camps. they got fed a bit more than the jews but still it was hell and many died.
yeah, but ren is leaving texas and coming to PA to raise cows with me
i went to HS with a child of survivors, and the cantor at my friends' temple is a survivor. All have spoken to us extensively of the dangers of complacency.
yes - and then we are moving to montana to torment dawg and smaller and work for smaller
ren is that galvaston? are there other cities on the coast?
al5/10 please
Hey Seain! I worry about that a lot...complacency.
Not to forget what Pam said. It was anyone that was different in some way. My old highschool friends grandma still remembers all the ss propaganda from those times.
yes, we're going to raise plants, i'm not sure how high though. i'm only 5'3" so it'd better not be too high
Galveston, oh Galveston. I can hear her sea winds blowin'....
change the consonant on the 5/12, or did you need the french backstreet?
galveston - si si - there's corpus, aransas pass, south padre, rockport
yes, krista, as do i, especially in the present political climate here - it scares me.
that's great, dc. Because complacency is the first compromise...
uh, maybe you shouldn't go into detail on those plants, Nut..
i'll take care of the tall ones nut - smaller and i are about the same height
Hello everyone!!
I have a brother-in-law whose father just escaped in 1938, but other relatives didn't; some were in Thereisenstadt -- the stopover before the ovens.
hi, floyd!
Hello PinkSRFloyd! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
hey pink
I need the second to last 5,18 and 6,30 if anyone can help me...
Thanks dcseain
I was on the bus today, and a man asked me if i was voting in super tues. I said yes, for Obama. he said really? This country isn't ready for a black president. I said I don't vote on racial lines--I really did not wantto engage... he said as a Latino, he doesn't trust blacks. That blacks would seek revenge...
oh Gawd, pam!
the man i knew as my great-grandfather, he and his sister left Bremen the week before Kristallnacht; the rest of their family died.
There's a good book about complacency..The Culture of Contentment (Galbraith)...I think every high school kid should read it
THEN, he said that he was for BIllary, but if it were Obama v Mccain, that Latinos were more conservative and would vote that way.
any clues for the 2 8's?
well complacency is what we have now where many liberals (i am one but torn now) want to be tolerant of the muslims. but the danger is that according to muslims i know who are americans now, the culture says that you say thing to convince people what you want is best regardless of whether it is true or not. so for example, they have forgotten the history of what has gone on in israel. they have no tolerance for each other either... one sect hates the next etc. when the palestinians broke thru the wall to egypt the egyptians beat them and clubbed them and who knows if some werent killed. so NONE are allowed into egypt. but israel is forced to have them come into israel even though they want to murder all jews. it is all very bizarre to me.
va8 is adj of the 6 before it.
Now, I could not even BEGIN to talk with this stranger on the diverse bus, but I told him he was part of the divisiveness and not part of the solution...
ren the 2 8s:
my mom was a protester and protector of human rights
NUTSTar how is your hibby?
Good for you, Pam!
good on your mom, ren!!!!
hubby sorry i blame Dc for distracting me
co 8 starts with the word for those who win in a war are the co***erers. then the first name of james bond author is *** fleming.
well said to him, pam!
as for the guy on the bus -- some people tend to apply their own feelings (revenge?) to others
i agree, jilli!
thanks for the 8 clues sean and mkg
testify, jilli!
va 8: those who destroy property as a prank are called va****s. remove the plural (that is the 7) and then add another ending to it for 2 letters.
May I have clues for the last two CO words?
yw, rennie
Pam that is because no one sees people as people. It makes us safe to put them in a box: Black, White, Religious beliefs, Sexuality and on and on
dc--i don't have the 6 the va8 is built from... help, anyone?
dc, just something I've noticed in various milder forms
pam, someone who destroys or defaces property
Nut's in the grid?
I really must try to find my last 20!
thanks, dc!
May I have clues for the last two CO words?
Hey Seain, what games do u normally play at the gaming thing?
herin the magnificent thing about america is americans really tolerate others! they truly do! i feel this is so so so unique! i dont know if it is similar in western europe or not. but i hear the french dont like foreigners. and i dont know about other places, including england. i do know the muslim populations in france have done some horrible stuff including murder jews in paris. and in london there was the subway "underground" bombing. not good. did you know there is not one arab nation that allows churches or synagogues to be built except lebanon has churches? there are christians in syria too i am told. but i am not sure. and turkey i dont think is arab. but it is not permitted in saudi arabia for sure. and in iraq the synagogues have been destroyed.
London has been bombed more times by the IRA than some dumb arse half witted attempted
Remember, remember the 5th of november, the gunpodwer treason and plot
their are indiginous Christians in Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Israel/Palestine, Egypt, the Sudan, Chad, and Iraq, among other places in that region.
Coptic christians are throughout Arab countries
tariq aziz, saddam's foreign minister is a christian
are you in blighty, Bob?
hey, peeps
And im sorry but America the land of the free still treats certain coloured persons like second class people. Don't start me on New Orleans and Katrina. Keep believing that America is the Land of the Free and ill believe that im a fecking pygmy.
hi, tyger!
Hello tygerbryght! How are you? Welcome to the grid
actually, pam, I don't think there are Coptic Xians outside Africa. Most of the Christians in other Arab lands are either Catholic or Presbyterian
Hi Tyger
there are bad eggs everywhere, Herin
hey, min. I'm okay, and you?
hey, herni
depends on where you are, lady. In Boston, that's true, much less so here in the DC/Baltimore area, and even less so in New York City.
*herin
hi Tyger!
my home church back in Michigan is much involved with Muslim outreach
hey, krista
I'm doing well.I'm not going to finish this grid though.
many are Orthodox of a stripe in the Eastern Mediterranean, though there are RCs and Presbys, among others, there.
so is my UU congregation, tyger.
That is right Krista. I don't like most human beings but i believe in civil rights. I think this world would be alot better of if we saw people as people not as a colour or a race or a sexual orientation
hatefulness, spite and bigotry are not local phenomena. they exist in every culture. no one has a monopoly on ignorance and evil.
there are Coptics in Israel..saw 'em on a documentary recently
DC, when I say Catholic in the eastern Mediterranean, I include Orthodox in that. They sometimes call themselves Catholic; just not Roman ;)
very true, bonkler.
yup, but those Copts are a special case - not indigenous
There are coptics throughout Asia, tyger...
excellent point, tyger :)
right, bonkler
indeed, bonk
so true bonk!!!
Am I in blighty? Whassat?
I've attended a uu church, dc..and would probably keep going except it's too early to get up..how sad of me
ah, I see, tyger
copts are the earliest form of xianity, with ethiopic breaking from it very very early on.
If you have to ask, then you're not there. :) It's what my husband calls England.
of 'modern' xianity, that is.
really, pam? It's news to me, and this is a point on which I depend on people who truly have the facts at their fingertips
Not indigenous, but they exist there,.
I'm english, but not in or from england personally.
http://orthodoxwiki.org/Coptic_Orthodo x_Church_in_Asia
But I wish I was.
there are - or were, prior to our invasion - all kinds of ancient remainders in Iraq - including the people mentioned in the book of Acts, who followed John the Baptist
I see. I was guessing from the 'u' in favourite.
thx for the link, pam
brb
I'll check it out
I like to spell things correctly.
the largest (that i'm aware of) christian sect in lebanon are the maronites though i'm not sure where they fall on the christian map.
Armour, Colour, Favourite
LOL, Bob. :) I hear ya.
Potatoe
they fall under the Eastern Patriarchies, and are a part of the Orthodox movement, bonkler, though some of them are associated with Rome.
here's a link from the holy synod of congregations:http://www.coptic.net/yp ages/Churches.html
how bout some clues
don't forget aenemia
potato, tomato
Ok, Dan Quayle.
Drives my teachers crazy, except the brits and aussies appreciate it.
I have a close lebanese friend who took me to Coptic services in New Bedford, Ma
Hate to leave such good company, but I have to go. Take care, all.
shalom, ruru!
que paso DC?
ciao, krista!
I think it's hilarious that Dan Quayle caught flack for that when it's actually the correct spelling.
Bye Krista!
i've glanced at the link, and I think they're assigning "Coptic" to people who don't usually make a point of the relationship. OTOH, I haven't had a chance to pursue it yet, tho
later, krista
Seain, is the first part of your email your first name?
I don't think that that was all Dan QUayle got flack for...
ciao, krista
LOL, Ruru!
dcseain gmail point com
you're so right, ruru :)
okey doke...see you all again soon **poof**
mostly online, i'm dcseain.
herin, how sad that you don't like most human beings
most of my middle Eastern friends have been Muslims
I like everyone until they give me a reason not to. Usually this doesn't take very long.
mine have been 50% christian, 47% muslim, and 3% jewish., tyger.
jilli, I think that it may simply be that herin's more of an introvert than most of us introverts
most of my palestinian friends are christians; part of why they left; they felt stuck between the muslims and israel.
May I have clues for the last two CO words?
most of my Jewish friends are Murkan, but I used to work with an Israeli
herin stepped away from the computer, and isn't back yet.
co6/21: Latin plural of preceding word
bob, latin plural of the co5, and a misspelled group of witches
Most of my jewish friends are Catholics.. thereby making them Cashews
I have also been googling synagogues. There are some in Syria, but under guard as they are mostly deserted due to violence and oppression.
bob, is your handle a play on the Church of the Subgenius?
silly, ruru! LOL!
LOL, ruru
and if so, where is Connie?
lol
LOL ruru
I am on a sabbatical from organised religion
thanks!
me too jilli......
There is a list of synagogues in Iran, too. I know about Turkey's as they have been bombed... and al-kuwait refers to synagogues there...
I actually discovered the Church of the Subgenius AFTER I chose this name for myself.
I think i am, too, jill. But mkg's comments got me to searching.
praise bob for the church of the subgenius i dig slack!
back to the grid...
I only intended to stick my nose in long enough to greet y'all. I'm shorter on sleep than usual these last few days, and I gotta get up about 2 hours earlier than usual tomorrow.
pam, I missed most of mkg's comments
Salvation guaranteed or triple your money back!
bbl got to cook din din...
later, ruru
ciao, tyger adn ruru
nytol
that's cool, bob! praise you and hail connie! :D LOL
hasta ruru, and tyger, sleep well
oh, jilli.
may you have a peaceful sleep, tyger, and a good day tomorrow
yes on a lack of sleep
I miss the good ole days when I could stay up all night and go and go and go
I'll check the back log for mkg's comments, pam
i just don't want to mis-quote, jilli
I need the second to last ca5,18 and ca6,30 and then I'm DONE with the Cs...
like the technical term for a hole in tooth, but starts like the common word for such.
plural for the 6
or diminuitive of where bats live, and plural
i may not always agree with mkg, but i always learn something from what she has to say, and am better for knowing it.
thanks dc!
i learn, too, dc. This time, though, I needed to do some fact-checking.
back again. hi seain! you're on late... not back to working nights areyou?

pam, to be eq9 is to not be really specific and sure of what you want
we have an Eye St instead of I St traditionally here in DC.
Stid the last few are sending me nutso
the third i word is the il 4 with a consonant on the end

just back from the archives and I must say for mkg's benefit that for tolerance I don't think Canada can be beat. Sure there are some noisy idiots but there is no real conflict any more.
I don't understand the clues. :(
ty, though, minver :)
