Duck and Just, do you read Macleans?
nn all
(notice the double negative?) :)
Well I don't but we were taught all about the US and the world all those decades ago, back in school ...
Do people in Canada put "at all" on the ends of questions like people in Minnesota do at all?
On the very rare occasion that I happen to be somewhere that a copy exists.
say wha? doug?
Hi all, just in from bridge, I don't believe they do Douglas
no doug...."eh"
It certainly doesn't finish every question, but I've heard it used from time to time.
hi flosey
hi flosey
Assuming Canadians end every sentence with eh, is about as accurate as assuming Americans end every sentence with Y'all :P
The reason I ask about Macleans is because there was an article in today's Macleans about Richard Warman
lol...or in newfoundland "right?"
Which of course means in both cases, certain individuals would prove the fact ;)
Heh... spent 3 years in Labrador myself.. mind you I was 8-10 at the time.
No idea who that is? politician prob?
I'm afraid I probably haven't picked up a copy of Macleans since the last time I was in a Medical Office waiting room :)

Clatra should be a word.
I agree, MonkeyG. Looks like one. Smells like one. Sounds like one.
I have a felling that the last 25 are going to be a bit of trouble...
oh wow, found a 6
and another one. Poison with a strange ending, lol... reward for trying anyway.
OK, time for me to go make the little monkey some strawberry pancakes. Thank goodness, his fever's gone and his ocugh is better! Anyway, back to being back sporadically.
wait for me, MonkeyG, I want some too! ;)
glad the lil' monkey is better
Not as fancy as they sound. I just subsitute strawberry yoghurt for the milk. Anyway, off i trot.

night jilli , all :) poof
not sure about the scoring tonight jill, 2 mistakes
my mother was ok -- his couldn't understand why a woman wanted to go to university, etc etc.
unfortunately, that was the attitude I was raised with - women didn'
and 'because she has a brain' was not a good enough answer?
why do I always click on enter when I aim at apostrophe
because they are too close to eachother, flosey. Happens to me often too.
we noticed a couple of strange things with question marks.
women didn't need education - they got married and stayed home to raise family, etc
George caught some before the end of the game so was able to get them corrected
that's it, flosey
my mother never worked
there were some surprising outcomes at bridge, lol!
some pretty strange hands
she probably worked her ass off, but at home. And I respect her for that. But it is a shame you were not encouraged to get education until the limit you could internalise.
could be played both sides
my father was mortified that my mother had to work when he was imprisoned -- but she didn't mind at all, and it was to help me go to university.
good for her Jilli
your parents sound like the kind of quiet heroes history is silent about, jilli.
yes -- well put, sprite
*hugs jilli*
but sprite, there are many -- the war made quiet heroes of hundreds -- thousands. Lots in the Netherlands, I know.
I know, jilli. My grandparents were among them. Those are the people who keep human civilisation intact through every crisis.
I have one blank tile -- the middle A in the second row
jilli, use a double consonent
That generation was not self-absorbed like many nowadays
that might be the aa5 jilli, don't know because it could start from either
fireworks!
or even the top a
joey, I think that's a diff A -- the one I need is to the right of that, no double cons within reach
wtg Just
thx flosey
too true, jilli. But I had a kid of 17 yo visit us this weekend, one we only knew through internet. And he was refreshingly 'normal'. Relaxed, but well mannered, and I was happy this generation has great people in it as well.
think man's name jilli...
wooot 1Mar!
YAY mar!!!
ty spritey
Yay for Just!!
jilli, go down for the double
ty ty all can't believe how many monkeys that worked

hi lyn! Challenging little grid, isn't it
Looks like it - managed 4 5 letter words only
I have no idea about the 7, still need 4 of the 6s and 7 of the 5s!
Hi all. Just found the 7 -- cu 7/36.
hi melissa
Hi Melissa, thanks for the hint
hi sprite, nice to see you, it's been a while. :) Yw, lynxxx.
hello babble heads!
hey pink :)
Hi Pink!
hi there pink!
hi spritey, lynxxx, melissa!
hi all. Lynxxx, are you from melbourne?
I am Helen - Elwood
lol... I read: I am Helen, and I thought huh?
You haven't played for a while have you Helen
hi helen!
me too. i know a ted may painter?? hi sprite.
hello helenary!
hello pink
found the 7, thanks melissa
Really! do you know my husband too? Ken
Sure, sprite! It looks like that will be my only luck with this grid...sign.
that is "sigh," rather
is the icon a ted may painting?
it is a tough one, but interesting.
ken???
yes, like the "may you live in interesting times" sort of interesting.
lolol melissa... rather potent curse, that one ;)
heh heh
It is Helen...it is one he did a few years ago, enetered originally in the Archibald and then in the the Moran comp. My husband is Ken
Oh well!!! Ted live sin North Melbourne.I have a few of his pics!!
Is Ken a friend of Teds? Sorry babblers for this one on one!!
so far I meant interesting in the sense that there aren't that many unwords, just my brain being unable to spot them because they are crooked.
Helen - yes. Ithey usually see each other at least once a week. He went up to Ballarat the other weekend for the opening of his recent exhibition
np helen, this is a very mild one on one ;)
true, sprite. I just don't tend to do well with massive fields of vowels.
we might have met!!!
lol, me too, I had SO much trouble finding a simple ci4.
Ted's doing well I hear. I won't carry on like this anymore. Its silly of me.
oh god, there's a ci4? I'm currently obsessing over that lonely d word. Ack.
very hard grid today
that d is a dh6
Helen - You probably have met Ken, not myself. Did you ever go to Mulcahys pub in Nth Melbourne. Ken used to co-own it and Ted and a whole group of people came from there. Ken continues to meet them regularly.
Aw, the ci4 is our old Italian friend. It turns up constantly here! Thanks for the d clue, sprite.
yvw :)
and I never see it by myself TY Melissa
no, not really Lynxxx. I really was closer to him about 12 plus years ago and see him rarely now. Knew some painter friends of his but have lost touch with that scene.
me neither, lyn!
or, well, I DO spot it by myself, but only as one of the very last words.
sure lynxx, no worries! I probably wouldn't have noticed it either if sprite hadn't mentioned it.
Ah, and there's the dh6. Thanks, sprite!
my pleasure, was a tough one for me to find as well
oh! There is a ji that is like the ci4!
Ooh, thanks sprite, that was my last j.
mine too. Last words are not coming easy here, lol.
Thanks Sprite!
yw :)
and fireworks! Any help I can offer?
Wow, congratulations, sprite! I need too much help to ask, heh.
congrats sprite, wtg! aa5 please
cr5 has an unusual double vowel
Congrats Sprite !!
babblet, pink. Middle is a consonant, ends in another double vowel.
At least I see lickety is back in action -- I wasn't using him till now since I thought he was offline. That should help a lot.
the vid is cute! Thanks LadyN :D
TY Sprite - that cr5 is South frican isn't it?
lickety is back again, had some computer problems, but it is solved now.
yes lyn, and I would expect it written Kr, actually.
weird aa word, thanks spritey!
I was amazed by Jillis video yesterday - the painting elephants
ci 4 please
That's great. He's a total treasure.
there is a cu6 that looks like a poison but has another last vowel
the ci4 and the ji4 are just clued, pink. Think italian.
thanks

I'm missing 2 C words. One on the top, one on the bottom. I have: ci4/5, cl4/5, co4/5x3, cr5/12, cu4/6x4, cu6/24 and cu7/36. which am I missing?
Hi folks. Poor Walter's down for his nap, so I can be in and out while I putter and make lunch and all. How is everyone?
did you hear that lil*monkey and i got together this past saturday?
waking up monkey... no..did not hear that little
co 5/12 and cu 6/24
sorry Angel - I am missing exactly the same ones
TY Kateq!
it was a great time! we ate chinese, shopped for a little black dress for monkey and had pedicures!
The cu6 is like the arrow poison with a diff last letter
sounds like fun :)
it was!
cool... its nice to hook up with people like that
the co5.12 is the cute Aust animal spelled incorrectly (and I should have remembered!)
yeah, she's a sweetie!
I have the poison arrow-ish cu6
Katiq - is there 2 cu6.24?
got the other cu6
I have too
yes two
Clue the not-arrow-poison one?
It is as the cu7 but drop the last vowel
Ah. I do not yet have power over the cu7.
cu7 a mongrel dog & what it wags
Oh, will you look at that! Thanks!
I took my girl guides to the police station last night for a tour... that was new at my end... and the next charity dinner I get involved with starts up in a week

Carlee - what charity benefits from these events, you all must be making a fortune for them
the SMA chooses 1 international charity and 1 local charity every year...this time round is local... and they chose an afterschool literacy program local to our city
Nice! What does SMA stand for?
last time was teh canadian landmine foundation...enough money to train a landmine sniffing dog
cr 5 clue please
Hi kids. I just wrote out my checks for income taxes---ouch!!!
morning. wow, tiny one!
we've done darfur, local autism society, children's aid ( local ), hurricane katrina relief
Hi! Sorry I haven't returned your e-mail yet, Things got really busy.
Feather, tiny but nasty.
Feather--you are on spring break, right? How did Doug dowith his cleaning blitz of the LR last night?
The cr5 is like the outh african word for an animal enclosure but the first letter's different
Carlee, you are a great role model for your kids and their friends!
Sarnia Muslim Association... a good friend is the head of their "share and care" team... and her husband is the head of the " association"...he is not the imam... anyway..she knows I know the food and spices etc... so she pulls my daughter and I in..we are the "token blondes"
South African enclosure?
well, he started with the kitchen, then petered out. but the kitchen sparkles!
thats wonderful Carlee - your organisation must get a lot of satisfaction to help so many
Crap - it doesn't look any better after coffee - was really hoping that would work : )
Hi Scrabs
GM all
Give Doug a sticker for being a good team helper.
Hmmm. How to explain. Well, cr, plus a double vowel, then another letter...
Hi kje
south african enclosure????
Hi kje
We get an English word from it, means a place we keep horses or cattle...
Got it, ty. After I got it, I remember the S.A. enclosure. :-)
ahhhh...it was a clue..ok...
things get "stuck" in there right?... "that really sticks in my cr 5" - maybe it's a Texan thing
Haha, kje
Ooh, Carlee, we'll have to talk spices sometime. I have 103 here right now....
thanks - didn't have that one
well... to donate to charity is a pillar of faith in islam... and with all the bad media coverage in NA since 9-11 this particular group is really striving to educate westerners about islam and the people of islam...
one boy's awake, i should go wake up the other, but i don't wanna, lol
only 103?... I have well..at least that many...
You mean Rascal Boy Daniel?
One boy just down for his nap here.
let sleeping children lie...
I might have 6-8 spices,haha.
I'm not counting most of the blends... Do you have both types of asafoetida?
yeppers
i have 1 cupboard..is double wide...4 shelves high STUFFED with jars of spices...
Black salt? Nepali black pepper?
Dry mango powder?
i do not have asafoetida
I didn'teven know there were > 100 spices.
I just don't have that kind of room. Kitchens run to the small here.
Morning! Much better size today
Oh sure, Scrabbler, if you're willing to experiment.
no and no... i tend to curries...curry blends...ME blends...
LOL scrabb
Hi Alleyn
and peppers... ground dried peppers...
yes, well try it first alleyn - 15 to go and completely stuck
scrabs, see the blog today yet?
I have different cinnamons....( diff quality for diff needs)
Hi folks, yough grid today, huh?!
Asafoetida is cool for curries. I made Nepali gurkhali chicken the other day, definitely benefits from iyt. Peppers, yes. My husband is a mutant and can eat stuff that would eat through metal. I'm trying to grow some very rare wild Nepali chilis right now.
diff nutmegs for the same
aaaah becca - precious icon
yough it is becca
I have regular cinn sticks, Nepali and Indian cinn bark, and one nutmeg (from Grenadea).
thanks kje :)
scrabbler, a wonderful thing happened this weekend. we were organizing our filing cabinet, and I found a picture of my baby brother (six months old) during his only Christmas. He died two or three weeks later. I'd forgotten I had that picture.
hubby does not like curries... but kids do... I am slowly introducing them to diff curries...
oops, carlee - perhaps it would be easier if i could type!
spices are great fun...
Oh, Becca Lorum--what a blessed being growing inside of you!! So sweet!
feather--I will check your blog later--what's there, or should it surprise me?
angel is determined to incentivize us to all become organized....
thanks scrabbler - it's much bigger than that now. 3 months to go nad I already look like a whale!
I cook a lot of Chinese, mostly Szechuan, Yunan, and Cantonese, but also lots of curries, especialy Kashmiri-type stuff. Do you have that great Omani/Iraqi spice blend with the dried rose petals? I have to make my own despite the profusion of halal groceries and shops here.
Angel, how wonderful tofind that photo. What happenedto your brother?
pics of the beginnings of daniel's ocean room
if anyone wants to see, link is in my profile
Angel--with your comments the other day I fianlly decided to order theMaria Gracia organizing package.
he was born with a collapsed lung and a congenital heart defect.
i wsih babble would let us link directly!
Aw, poor boy. What was his name?
i am not partial to the rose blends myself...if it calls for it..i take the easy route and just add the tiniest ammount of rose extract... i tend to the egyptian and lebanese... I have a neighbour who is iraqi..i leave those specialties to her...
my mother found him in his crib when she was waking us up to go to the baby sitter's. She worked nights, and my dad put him to bed the night before and he died during the night.
Well, Carlee + MG, I am pretty good at microwaving, not so good at cooking.
Angel, was the heart problemalready known?
looks watery feather
MMMMMM, Egyptian and Lebanese!
scrabbler: good! I know it will be of help to you. If it can tame our paper, it can handle anyone's.
ty kje, that was my aim!
scrabs... i watched a movie once..and read the book to...like water for chocolate...something like that..was an international fim..subtitled... made in mexico
I have a filing system, but it needs to be expanded.
OK, got to go make my lunchnow, and take the dog out. Who knows how long I have ! Walter's been napping shorter these days but today he has a bad cold so who can say.
yes. the doctors told my parents he was not expected to live as long as he did. That death was very hard for me. I finished the grief work only in the 1990's; he died in 1963.
bye Monkey
I just need a filing system.... : O
The death of a child is very hard to deal with.
Bye MG
bye monkey
how old were you angel?
and... although the story took the concept to the nth degree... my belief is..u have to give a damn about what it is u r cooking..and somehow...the energy...emotion..whatever it is..is somehow translated to the food...and affects the taste..i have a neighbour who follows my recipes exactly..but she just doesn't give a crap... and it is reflected in her food
clue for ar word off right upper corner a?
I was 8 when he died. just shy of 9.
One of our patients died on March 18---4 yr old girl.

TY, lynxxx
I called a good friend of mine in early 1991 or so, and asked her to go with me to find his grave. That finished the pain. It was like God just dropped that baby back into my heart, minus the pain and sorrow.
Every child's life has a purpose no matter how short it is.
my brother's death cropped up again when my grandfather died, because my grandfather was the one who tried most to help me with my brother's death. so they got connected in my mind.
Well, with a whopping 20 words I must hurry up and get ready for work. Bye all. ((Angel + brother))
bye scrabb - save lots of lives!!!
Every experience of grief sparks prior ones.
I wrote an e mail to Maria Gracia, thanking her for the filing system, and told her about that photograph.
bye Scrabs
bye scrabbler
I doubtit, kje--but I will reassure lots of mothers that their children are actually in good health.
a friend of my mum's... lost a baby a few days after it was born...she was told by an old romanian woman... that when a child dies it is the soul of someone who died prematurely come to live out the rest of their life...
how nice angel - she'll probably use it for advertising - LOL
yes, the worried well - aaagghh
gave her some peace of mind at a very difficult time
Read the book, Many LIves, Many Masters by Brian Weiss--very spooky.I have read it many times.

just fine here, got a cold, but otherwise ok !!
it's carlee's fault - she needs dinner
hubby does not believe that fruit should EVER be mixed with any type of meat ( except for tomatoes....mind he is of the belief that tomatoes are veggies)
TOMATO = FRUIT !!!!!
damn - you need to educate their palates a bit carlee
we could always blame FM
wow, that got aussie excited - LOL
i think will just put something together... will cook the strips in red wine with onions...and pepper corns... and wing it
yes, let's blame FM - always a good strategy
tell him oranges are in the tomato catagory
lolol.....
lolol Lex !!
Carlee...there wa a great egment a while back on hiding veggies in food, mostly for kid, this lady pureed cauliflower and snuck it into mashed potatos...
well he is colour blind I suppose I could get blood oranges
Sounds perfectly delicious, carlee.
Aussie, I am sorry you are sick.
Down to 3 ra words. A ra4 and 2 ra5s
good idea !! am so glad Georgia eats her veggies, she loves most of them....
blood oranges - does that make them meat???
i once had a Mimosa made from blood oranges _ it was one of the tastiest things id ever had...
gettign roast out of freezer
my sister does that - purees sweet potatoes and puts them in mac and cheese
no..but makes them closer in colour to tomatoes
got the ra4 mcnally?
I Love Blood Oranges... I adore the juice too, Sanguinello !!
ummm - blood orange martini
I was surprised at all the things this lady hid into food. but it did look like a lot of extra work...
I used to put puree vegs in spaghettios
I sneak spinach into soups....
I think it would be better to start young and get them to like veggies
see how easy it would be to poison the fam
So, any help with the ra5s? Please
I have a nephew that eats the salad bar at Chuck e Cheeses
i used to put left over home made babyfood into soup... hubby didn't know
not doing it just joking ;-)
ralin
i loved veggies growing up... but i make a MEAN turkey meatloaf that the uber-picky BF likes, and i hide all kinds of veggies in there. ;)
Georgia has eaten her veggies since she was old enough to eat proper food !!
my mom had a rule, each day we had to eat the salad and also a huge gla of milk, which now that I think of it was probably 16 ounces...
my kids are not big on veggies but they are getting there...hubby likes..meat..and potatoes
ra 5 - mouse + ** capone
Carrot cake? Zucchini bread? Potato pancakes?
ra 5 - mouse + **t (insect)
hubby won't eat any of those either judi
I think plain veggie tend to be better for us anyway...but, sometimes a little diguise can not hurt!!!
Alleyn !! I told you, gimme a word that really works !!
Potato Pancakes are the most blessed food !!! Mmmmm, thanks Judi !!
I think my one nephew is that way b/c his mom eats that way - all farmer's market and they go together and choose the stuff - he doesn't know any other way
Got the rodent now. Just an ra4 and one ra5 left. So need to get on with the chores
Wow, he's really hard core. My uncle was the same way. Despised vegetables in any form.
my grandmother used to keep cut up carrots, celery, cucumber, fruits, whatnot out on the table...whenever i walked by, id snack on them... i wasnt a large eater when i was little, but almost everything i ate was healthy! (wish i still ate like that now!!)
When we were kids we also grew a lot of veg' so that made them more intereting...
2 rodent ra 5's
Just the one ra4s left.
clue for the co5 please ?
I have only 17 word, should not have made fun of the grid...
my other nephew's dad is a picky eater - thus.... he thinks that is "cool" and "manly"
CO5 is like the aussie KO*** Bear
grid revenge on red

dad - not dada - LOL
4 tiles greyed out (all by clue helpers and me)
Oh LOL kje !!
yes, the monkeys are useless
Still just one tile left. The r in the top line. An ra4,4
my parents grew up in england just after the war + grew up on food rations... we were raised in a "you eat it or you go hungry" kind of household. was always grateful for my grandmother + her plates of fruits + veggies. :)
My mom was pretty eay on u, if there wa a food she disliked, she didnt see the point in serving it to children, like liver...I never had liver as a kid...but we sure did eat a ton of pasta...
Fireworks. Thank you all for help!
do you have the r + 3 vowels?
what are the monkeys? i'm a newbie
Yay Alleyn!!!
ra + grid grouch is an **lment
*sigh* Didn't the food always taste better at gramma's house?
the monkeys are on strike - they usually help us in the grid
oh - YAY alleyn!!!! way to hang in there
My Gramma taught me to cook the Sunday Roast at age 9 !!
Did someone clue the dh word? If so, I missed it.
we "monkey" words jandel - meaning we guess until it works
my grandmother lives with us...and to be honest, at her age, she was really an awful cook! i was told she was a great cook when she was younger, but i never knew her then...

Judi must be a mom
I made macaroni and chee with hamburger the past few nights...now thats gone will have to eat something else (Other than the cuban Sammy I had yesterday...0
I'm not a mom, but my mother said similar things. I'm forever imprinted with momisms.
Mmmm, Roast Beef with Yorkshire Puddings, and all the trimmings !!
I had mac and cheese with broccoli and mushrooms last night - LOL
but it sounded so natural Judi : )

KJE, the hospital I am going to work at is a geriatric specialist dream, I think...I'm very scared of it!
erm, wait....
go aussie go - make our mouths water!
cu 7 - mongrel dog + what it wags
no red - they are lovely patients!!!
why a geri dream?
Yorkshire pudding is kind of an eggy, airy popover. Individual ones look kind of like a french brioche.
tyvm

Aussie yours is really cute!!!
Wow. This is a tough one. How many words are there today?
ah - like it aussie!
71
only 71 pete
71 heinous words in the horribly heinous grid
just went into google images and typed in 1950's icons, and it gave me so many to look at,......
That would explain my slow start. Thanks.
une, i Loooove your icon today. This grid needs an E.
:-D
pete, if you get grid grouch, there is only one cure.... monkeys and alcohol !!
and the monkeys are on strike!!!
is the aa5/10 all vowels, or are there any cons?
ok, so alcohol is the only cure !!
no mark, aa hockey stick and double 3rd vowel !
double vowel + stick + double vowel
what a words thanks guys!
ty, i think it's a retarded word
hey, mark, we're practically neighbors!
it is a stoooopid word, but not sure if it is developmentally delayed.
well - this grid is full of those mark - I see the first symptoms of grid grouch
lol red....
im physically in Fort Worth right now...but live in Arlington...you close?
with two sets of double vowels - more like over-developed
big D
or under consonant strain !!
Fort Worth is better ;)
no arguments here mark - LOL
or so they say
but wouldn't be willing to commute from FW to D
I had been thinking about doing a contract in Austin...but will probably go to Santa Fe, like a fool.
oooh - austin is a great city red
Yes, it has a great community of triatheletes, and music...
but clearly doesn't have ALL the attractions of santa fe - LOL
Yes, well, we'll see, these things are so transient.
fantastic music scene! would meet you there for a crawl along 6th street
And I will admit, I hate hate hate training at altitude...gives me headaches and feelings of inadequacy.
Well, now that would be fun!!!
you could just come to Orlando, its a geriatrics picnic here.
how long is the florida job?
13 weeks, unitl July.
as long as things work out fine...if not, I suppose it could be like one day...
you know - fla just doesn't appeal to me - too fake (sorry any floridians out there)
disney has taken over orlando
I thought it would be very fakey, but here there are a ton of state parks, lotsof lakes and trails to run on, so far it has impressed me for not being that fakey...But I live in Clermont, 20 miles out of orlando, and dont really see any disney stuff around.
just a minute guys..... will brb, my smurf needs me.....
and feel free to say the same about Dallas - LOL
Awww, Aussie!
never been to Dallas. Only been in Amarillo.
watch out for the gators on those runs
i keep looking for the gators, have not seen any yet. just lizards.

Whereabouts are you, then?
Leicestershire... you ?
Near Heathrow. Does your house really have ivy? I looked at your profile.
yep, it sure does, all over the front !!
It sounds very old and quaint and artistic.
well, it an ex-council house, and the people who lived here before let the ivy grow rampant, had to sort out the roof, so now it looks like an old castle....
with all the a's so close together i am going crosseyed looking for the aa5 need help
so, near Heathrow, it must be noisy ??
Justice, aa + hockey stick letter and double 3rd vowel.
My last two houses were ex-council. Roomy and well-built. It's very quiet where I am. Planes can't fly over, because I'm near Northolt which is a military zone and all you get is the PM or Richard Branson in their private jets!
Ah yes, I know where Northolt is.....

ardilla: cu* = stray dog + what the dog wags
what is the j cotton word?
oohhh, tx, inge
txvm inge
cotton?
there is Ji like the choosy mother's peanut butter and plural
rhymes with opposite of out
ardilla -- there are 2x CU6, so you might need the other CU6 for your CU7
and then the ji4 what aladdin summoned from the bottle
think j + another word for motel
maybe she was referring to a cotton g**, different spelling
it's actually an evil spirit or a genie
thats what i meant..yeppers

It's okay, it just made you sound enthusiastic.

hi haz
I was, its always nice to talk to you....
I watched a programme last night about addictions. Babble is an enthusiasm rather than an addiction - thought you might all like to know.
You should have let him enter them feather, I bet they would be correct with this grid!
Hello TO - lunch time at work?
lol Haz.... I am addicted to this enthusiasm !!
iagree, cait! : 0

New pic shows her sitting up in a pool of water in the back yard as LA had 90 degrees..
how are you and beloved doing, Scarlet?
We are so darned cold, too, Aloy. (P.S. Your beloved and mine share the same name) We want real SPRING... not this Arctic overtone every day! I was just amazed by Mia's little blog... her photos are simply adorable... and you & J are such beautiful people... (I knew that...)
hi guys! how's everyone
This testimony... is it about the quarry?
Deb!! Hi, and good to see thee! :-)
aw, tyvm, Scarlet.. and hi debjed!

al5/16 is a plural
I have 1 x al5/16 and it's a pl of a 4/7
oh
guess i did have it
Ha! got all the a's
An achievement.
I think todays grid tip would be type everything with double vowels and when in doubt lob in another a
A certainly wins the prize for the most used letter.
HAve you seen BabbleRabble today? He said he was having PC problems yesterday.
I'm pretty sure he was on. I'll check.
Yes, he was.
Oh good.
His opinion of the grid was that whoever created it must have had a bad hair day.
So that vindicates the rest of us. He usually claims it's a walk in the park!
LOL
We haven't had such a tight small grid for ages. I've completed thw whole of the right hand side but still gappy on the left, very strange.
There's certainly little flow.
phantom word: urinal
Hi smaller
Hello smaller.
hi fmitch and haz. this grid is frittering all my brain energy.
limited as it is anyway
Pollyanna moment - let's be glad it's not huge.
yay first fireworks for a loooong time
Finally!! *collapses onto sofa in relief* LOL

Both ra5/10 have the same structure, only differing in the final consonant.
could i have a clue for the al 6/18 which seems to be hiding from me! Hi all by the way
I've been searching and searching for the last al5/10 -- can anyone help? I have all the other A words
OK - haven't been there yet. To difficult for me. Hoping to get there some day. This is my 3rd week.
JMH - mans name and op of out

Yep I only have 55--I mean 55 left to get!

I was working with John Burton - one of the fathers of geriatric medicine - and we had a lady in the nursing home who was doing poorly and we desired the family to move to comfort measures only - had several family meetings but the kids would never say do more or do less. I was getting frustrated, having grown up in the era of CYA medicine, and just wanted them to make some decision! Dr. Burton calmly said - but they have made a decision - they're telling you that they can't make this decision... so we will do what we know to be right. He was right of course.
go lou go

but it didn't take too long to find them, so I better get going... the video (which I suggested) doesn't have near as good quality here on babble expert as it does straight from youtube... I wonder why that is?

YW pammie!
19 left.
when do you start at the new job, hospital?
that's the first 5,32 i've seen, i think. wow
i don't know a pammie, lil...
monkey must put "eeee" sound at the end of everyone's name, Pammy
did you guys know that in some places the post offices are not staying open until midnight tonight?
I can't think of a last line - dammit
tomorro, technically i started today, but didnt work, just sort of looked around for 2 hours.
then monkey won't hear a thing from me, I loathe that name. and I am not kidding here.
why would PO's be open until midnite?
really - in Baltimore they handed out big macs and partied at midnight....
how'd it seem, red?
then comes monkey with a fluffer-nutter
(that's your line, kje)
only the "special" post offices will be open at midnight. 8-)
for taxes, carlee. They are to be postmarked by midnight today
what is the fun in taxes if they don't stay up late and meet up with all the other procrastinators...
big and very fancy. i am relieved to start tomorro because otherwise i'd just worry about it. as if i am not already.
pthh
ah..is apr 30 here
oh - if I only had 15 more days!!!!
LOL--you'll do well, and that ER is lucky to have you!
i know they said so many people are filing on line - that it's not worth theor time to stay open until midnight ot even 7 pm
you'd still be doing them late kje...
i feel like i have all the obvious ones left...do you ever feel that way?
Awww Pam thats sweet, I think they are, but we'll see by the end of tomorro.
paws crossed, red!
i used to live in Royal Oak , michigan, and go to the "parade" -- police block off certain streets and herd you toward the post office -- it's like being in a parade 8-)
who wants clues before i go?
so true red, how well you know me when we met such a short time ago - LOL
can anyone clue the dh?
I haven't been to the er much for myself--twice--but it impresses me...
well, I know procrastination...
Pam, stay out of the ER!!!
how fun!! a tax parade!!!
dh + cremation *** + first vowel
*sorry, meant to say cremation container*
Pam stay out of the ER and the hospital - they kill peopel - LOL
I am back--phone call. kje--get those taxes done!
if i did my own, i'd be right there with you, kje. But since I have irsaphobia, a good friend does them. They are simple, basic, and no way will i do them...
so true!
carly is now my fav singer..means she'll be voted off this week
dh6, the middle letters are a container for cremains, then a vowel
I did mine this year, and may do them next year, turbo tax has been a real help.
oh good, a bookie, i'd like to bet on the penguins please
irsaphobia, i like that 8-D
I really think we need one more clue for the dh.... anyone?
thanks! would not have gotten to that one on my own
I might even do H's, since they screwed them up last year...that makes me nervous though.
not crazy about the chick who just sang "Can't Live"
I wrote out my checks today for 2007 income taxes (not much) and 2008 1st quaater estimated taxes (ouch!).

al 6 is the 4/4 + opposite of off
i'm working on one
okay. will be patient - ish *sits on hands*
Hi all. I thought I was beating 'the evil Jillibus' at Scrabulous earlier, but she forged ahead and trampled me in the fi5/16 straits.:(
thanks stid got it
hey Jac!
hi jac, how are you?
wow... good for Jill! you're a tough competitor!
hi jac
I'm fine thanks, Lindrick. And you?
Stid - I'm not sure I;ve won a game against Jilli yet.
Hi, lbd.
yeah not too bad thanks jac
struggling with my last 7 words!!
I've just been adding to my blog. It's quite fun, this blogging lark, isn't it? I'm glad Hydra persuaded me to do one.
hi stid, hi Lind...not sure where my post went but it obviously didn't go into the chat!
ooooh jilli scrabbles?
I finished earlier, Lindrick, so can clue if you wait until I've paid a quick visit 'upstairs'.
hey lbd! (again) how's the weather out your way? ours was awful today. Just as I would get somewhere and need to get out the car everything got all soggy!
yes feather, Jill does. And she's good at it, too!
thanks jac
Stid, it's yucky again here. Bozeman got 4 inches of snow after having a high of 60+ yesterday!
wow where are you dawg?
I'm in Kalispell, Montana, Lind
ok, got tired of shuffling and tried one and it worked, yay, your go stid
we had beautiful sunshine today and a high of 15 degrees!!
thanks feather
I'm back. Ask away, Lindrick.
ooh. that's a big change, lbd!
and jac, we're not playing? want to do a game?
Well, i want Stid to have beautiful, warm weather, cuz then it will come my way!
cr 5 please jac!
Hi feather (I called my friend Heather that the other day!) - Yes, we can start another game.
cr + double vowel + stick, Lind
omg i would have never guessed that!! thanks dawg!
Lindrick - cr5 has a double vowel in the middle and sounds a little like a horse enclosure. Gunfight At The Okay Co****.
ha, scrabs said she did the same thing!
thanks jac
i'm infiltrating people's speech all around the globe, bwahahaha
Feather - Did she? It must be catching! My friend used to be 'Ev' when we were in our teens.
y/w, Lindrick.
Doing a rhythmless happy fireworks dance :D
include me here, feather. one of my supervisors is a heather...and yup feather slips out at least once a day! lol
how about the first ji please?
whoooo hooooo CORDELIA!
WTG cord
heehee!
hi all xx
hey what's proper scrabulous etiquette... if you start a game with someone and they don't start one back, and you wait awhile and then you start another one, etc, how long before you figure they just don't wanna play with you anymore and you stop bugging them?
lind, like the italian bye, but with a j
Well done, Cordelia.
hi chunky
not sure hursh! i tend to forget a lot to start new games, as they disappear without my noticing.
we just ask each other if we want to play and who wants to start, hurshy (and I volunteer to be trounced bby you any time)
hey chunky
thanks lbd, lind and jac...this one was a toughie
Hi hursh. Well you can prod them a couple of times but, after so long, not sure how long, the games goes 'inactive'.
YAY cordelia!!!!
and cooking question: if you were going to make a bean salad, but you overcooked the beans, should you just make the salad, or try to turn it into a hummus-like substance, or what?
I'd go for the second option, hursh.
stid...thanks for your offers of help even while you were involved with other things
depends on how over cooked the beans are hursh
(that was my comment, lbd) if they're only a little overcooked, I would make the salad anyway. Otherwise, I think a hummus sounds nice
hursh...i'm notorious for overcooking...i made a bean dip
stid, we think an AWFUL lot alike! lol
feather it's your turn again... I did my best, which I am sure could have been better. But I am an impatient sort.
stid - your blogging prowess is amazing! I still haven't got through them all!
well let's see, i soaked 'em for a good 30 hours, and then i cooked 'em for an hour and a half.
:-) *adjusting tinfoil hat* we do, don't we, LBD?
Are all of these words from the english dictionary?
if you can still stick a fork in then and they don't disintergrate i'd make the salad.
stid, are you in the babble group so i can find you?
better than me, hurshy! the beans I am working on just WON'T get soft today. But they're very old dried beans and not happy about it at all
I am "stidmama babble" hurshy...
aha.
and I think we're already friends
lookit that, so we are, lol
your turn stid, snerk snerk snerk
thanks feather!
how's it going, Lind?
dawg i have tried but can't make out your clue, can i have another for the first ji please?
I can't be bothered with all the palaver with dried beans, especially as you can poison your family if you get all the soaking, draining and cooking wrong. I prefer to use fresh.
so hurshy -- I am happy with any setup you like, I am equally abysmal no matter which dictionary
hi hurshy sorry i missed your entrance!
Lindy: like italian "bye bye" word
you are not stid! you did great last game!
K since when is that a word?
ji+ two vowels, Lind
hi all.... dried beans can't sit in the pantry indefinitely, at least not without losing freshness
bye in italian is such a long word i can't see how i can shorten it to be a 4 letter word!!
Hi, Dorens.
rofl... that "jor" comes in handy, feather!
hi dorens
hi dorens
hey dorens!
oh thanks i have it!! LOL
please pass me the fish!! LOL
yes dorens, that is true -- but when one has SO MANY dried beans that were stuck in the corner and forgotten... LOL so maybe we're just too frugal.
>*))<<

this is a challenging game for me
okay, all this talk of beans and fish...now i'm hungry
would someone please explain that concept of dried beans not having an indefinite shelf life to my hubby.
I have 49 left
mooo - if you're intending to keep on Babbling, store it in your memory banks as a 'Babblet'.
go lind...i'm rooting for you!
good word hurshy!
go moo go!
dude why is this judge so emotionally involved in this case?
LBD, have hubby come to supper. He'll get the message (do you have good dental coverage?)
lbd's husband: even dried beans can go bad!
hi mooo

hehe, ok, i was wondering what i had done!
mooo - Babblets are real words but weird ones that occur fairly often in the grid. Examples are etui (needle case), etna (Sicilian volcano), inia (hairy-nosed dolphin) etc.
oh how wonderful dorens! yes, Tom's niece (about 4 yrs) loves skype because it lets her see her cousins and grandparents
ty helpers

Submissions written by your or sent to you, Cordelia?
I am gonna have to learn where all these states are so i can see whereabouts you lot all are!!
jac--sent to me, or i should say the online poetry journal the hubby and i run
Ah, Ren! Hendrix - the lullaby I used to play to my baby son. Mozart never settled him, but Hendrix always did. If that ever failed, I bored him to death with Leonard Cohen.
Cordelia - would be interested to see that. Url?
www.chantarellesnotebook.com
Jac my mum used to put me to sleep with Bob Dylan and his early work makes me nod off to this day, even though i like it!! LOL
Thanks, Cordelia. I'll have a proper read of that later. Sleep well. I've bookmarked it.
i would love your feedback the next time i see you in chat...gnite again all *poof*

my son went to sleep to Jethro Tull
Lindrick - I'm afraid Dylan has always had that effect on me, too.
LOL my kids went to sleep with the stranglers and alice cooper!! LOL
Tull is also quite soporific.
LOL jac
clue fi 6/27 for fireworks please
Stranglers and Alice? They went to slee[ happy, Lindrick. I was shocked that I could walk right up to Alice at the Monsters of Rock Festival a couple of years ago. That wouldn't have been the case back in the 70s here in UK.
chrisk- brotherly.

the only a I need is the one in the upper right corner
or should I have said "getting tired, (al) **e we?"
hi superflippy!!
sounds like Muhammad *** the boxer, but with double vowels
hi lindrick!
mr. cassius clay's other name... double vowels on either side
aa5/10 -- aa + cons + double vowel
Lindrick, I tried your clue but it's not working for me
(clue for superflippy)
*Wonders if Ren read the gardening post.*

that's just the sort of thing I would love to do, jilli!
Jilli - You must, I repeat MUST, start your autobiography and story of your family a.s.a.p. Use all the photos you can find, too.

WB kje
ty kje -- but long ago!
i just realized I dont have one stinking A word from under the R !
not done yet mama - turbo tax on line - awesome stuff!
I saw you say earlier, jilli, that you'd post your Dad's story if you didn't 'run out of time'. Please write it all down for us before that happens. There are many different and interweaved tales that should be told, I think.
la + **on and plural
oh yes, jac -- your icon IS a riot, vaguely
la+ chat speak for "* see!"
Oh we are as done as we can be today for it , kje LOL
jilli - send me the url via e-mail, pleae for the geni.com thing.

Hi, kje. Thanks!
Lady Natt - what is chat speak for "can't see"???
I guess I have to make a blog or a website or something
not getting those clues for the la
go for it jilli
lind - *sticking tongue out* - well, some of us don't have that ability
not can't... the subjective form of me!
You sure do, jilli.
kje--i should say that I read your icon today, but am not as fond of himself as I am of Elizabeth...
LOL kje!!
mama - they just took it directly out of my checking account - ohh the pain
oh! I have that one, too, thanks for being patient
agree Pam - and he can go on and on and on - I had to search for a short one!
Incidentally, when we do these blogs, do we only have a certain amount of space to do them in?
did you get its plural, JBV?
LOLOLOL, kje
I just need one more l - I have la 4/5, 4/5, li 4/4, lu 4/5 and 5/12
I feel your pain kje
first la 4/5 pl
ah! the old sneaky plural - that's it, thanks, Lady!
la5/12 = plural of your first la4.5
you're most welcome.
the first la 4/5 is a word related to the laity
well guys it is time I was not here!! so bye and cya all tomorrow!!
bye Lindy!
Night Lind
oops, must watch Jeopardy
Pam - how are you doing now? Has you dog 'gone' or still around after 3 days or so, like most of our pets have been?
good luck to those not finished and well done to those who have finished!!
ok, but now the tile is still showing I have 1 out of the 2 l's in the middle - can we try again? I have la 4/5, 5/12, 4/5, li 4/4, lu 4/5 and lu 5/12
jilli - sorry, but still laughing at that pic - I had glasses like that in the 60s - but mine were blue and I was a toddler
I need to take a 10-minute break... start putting away all my "home from work" discards from my bed, and gathering up trash for tomorrow's pickup.
so I had no choice in the matter - LOL
and thanks to those who helped me finish!!
*poof*
See you, jilli. Be back over breakfast and then after evening with Other Half and TV.
nite Lindy and all -
bye all
night to those leaving...
glad, kje -- "Laughter is the Best Medicine", to coin a phrase.
il 5/10 plz
good night and good-bye to those leaving - is anyone out there who can clue the l in the middle? This is what I have : I have la 4/5, 5/12, 4/5, li 4/4, lu 4/5 and lu 5/12 - I need one more L word
sorry, jbv...
JBV, li + double consonant
and good evening everyone
chunky, it's hard to clue - il 5/10 - i + someone who doesn't tell the truth, except change the last letter
oh, thanks, mom - I was trying a different double consonant (4-point)
JBV. did you get the li double cons
I was having a horrible time with it, and just got it. You're so welcome
JBV, thanks for the il 5 word
I only have 6 to go now - can I get a clue for the c's on the top row - I have 5 with cu
yes, MaMa, thanks
thanks jbv
Yes, jbv, you're missing the other li4/4.
look, JBV, now MaMa comes to rescue us, after we have pulled out our hair over it. :)
thanks, superflippy, I have all the L's now
wow the log is a little slow
sorry
LOL, Mom -
lol, that is okay Mama
hello how many words today?
brb - phone
lol
There are 7 cu's. Maybe between us we have them all, jbv!
JBV, I have 7 cu words
71 Carra and it is a pain
ty mom
Pam - hope I didn't upset you with my question? It was asked in all honessty.x
I only have 3 cu words
you're welcome
yeh i see that ;/
8 left
hmm, need one more c word, if I have all 7 cu words, it is either a cl or cr. How is that for smarts?
that li + double consonant just proves my unscientific theory that I am totally blind to leftward arrangements, I think it has to do with being right-handed or is it just that we read from left to right?
I have 1 cr+double vowel and consonant
not a good clue , I know
thanks, MaMa, that was fine, gave me one more word, now I only need 5
Charles Manson has a cu 4/6 cu + ** ** (what cheerleaders say)
lol, mama, it clued me, 8-) thanks
Gunfight at the Okay Co*****. Sounds like the horse enclosure.
what you do to your hair with rollers
Can anyone give me a clue for the first cu6?
It sounds like what babies do before they walk
I don't know, jbv, maybe... I know that Hebrew taught me to look at right to left, and Latin, well that taught me that direction is relative, LOL
I have that one Mamam
hmm, interesting pam, since you can read in both directions!
Mom - what cheerleaders say? didn't get that one
letter before s and first vowel
it makes things more "fun" jbv--I tend to look at sentences wholly....
with the cu before it
JBv and Pam i ? the right left thing when I notice that some of us put our emoticons oppositer of others
I was reading in the paper earlier that many kids want to take up Latin study now due to reading Harry Potter books.
i've tried that and it says "not found in the dictionary" cu + consonant + vowel? not working
al 6/18 plz
that is kind of cool, jac!!
If you are right do you put the eyes left an vi a via
kind of like the exclamations in spanish, mamam
chunky, it's man's name + not out
Male name - footballer Mr. Shearer here in UK, + 'not out'.
true pam
cu + letter before s and first vowel twice
terrible at cluing, I am
oh, twice! why didn't you say so? LOL
nope, that's not working either
Mom, it's not taking that. And it's only 5 letters, I need 6.
because I suck at this :)
amo, amas, amat, amamas, amatis, amant.
Took me all day to get that cheer clue also JBV lol
al 5/12 before it plz?
The only chant I remember from doing Latin. However, it's been a very useful language to have learned.
well I don't have all day - I would like to go to sleep soon!
for which one Superflippy? I am getting confused
man's name? al?
guess this means I'm going to have to leave for tonight... not done everything yet, hubby coming home from work soon (and will be hungry and tired and cranky) and I have to get up at 2:45 a.m. to drive daughter to the school for her band trip to Seattle WA.
pleasant dreams Lady and have a safe trip

Ditto what Mom said, Lady.
goodnight lady and safe travel
oh no, don;t go SUperflippy
thanks, mom, didn't see it there....
I'm going to go to bed now, I think.
good night all
Tx mom, I have that one. It's the first cu6 I don't have.
sure thing Pam
But I have to make a phone call before the boy wakes up, so good night!
cu + **+ **, sis boom bah,
oh SUperflippy, I don't have the list. Sorry
got the cu 6 - I'll try cluing - cu + what cheerleaders say without the final H (**h **h sis-boom-bah!)
pleasant dreams Superflippy
ok, MaMa - I finally got it - !!
Kick em in the ... kickiem in the rear
good JBV :)
YAY for you JBV It seriously took me all day of that clue to put the ** twice LOL
there was a clue earlier for a co word .... about a bear, can anyone help me with that?
sorry I gave you fits, JBV, with that clue
but I still need a c - have 8 out of 9 from the top left - here's what I have: one cl, one cr, 6 cu
Mom, it's an Australian bear usually spelled with a K
thanks JBV
Ok the co sounds llike cut e aussie bear like mammal
there are 7 cu words
thanks Mama
ok, so I have cu 4/6, 6/24, 4/6, 4/6, 7/36 and 6/24
cu 4/6, 6/24, 4/6, 4/6, 4/6, 7/36, 6/24
I still only have 3 cu
that is my very last and final word - would love to see fireworks - who can help?
another 4/6 JBV, what hair on rollers do, old fashion way of making butter minus the H and a man's man Tony ****is

off to bed for me. Pleasant dreams to all {{Hugs}}
yw
bye (((mom)))
good night
{{Kje}} see you tomorrow
hey, peeps
GREAT video tonite for cat lovers
kje - you still here?
hi tyger - congrats on fireworks - it is a funny video!
and I'm not even a cat lover - LOL
thanks for the poem kje. never saw that one before. it's brilliant! so buddhist.
thx
night all.
yw - currently deciding on tomorrow's
think it will be robert hass
the only R. Browning poem I've ever been fond of was "Grow Old Along With Me" (THINK that was the title)
the name was rabi someone.... let me think
Asimov introduced me to it - it was the fave poem of the protagonist of one of his novels
Rabi Ben Ezra - it is a line form that one tyger - what a great line
from*
kje - that's 2 Bs - Rabbi Ben Ezra
and it's like 10 pages long or something....
thanks
Grow old along with me The best is yet to be The last of life For which the first was made Our times are in His hand Who saith, "a whole I planned "Trust God, see all "Nor be afraid."
I thought of posting it anyway - it is a good poem for a geriatrician : )
I think I could do the next 2 stanzas as well :)
I was 13, and had just lost my mom
Then, welcome each rebuff That turns earth’s smoothness rough, Each sting that bids nor sit nor stand but go! Be our joys three-parts pain! Strive, and hold cheap the strain; Learn, nor account the pang; dare, never grudge the throe!
ah tyger - wow at 13
somehow, I think God was trying to tell me something. you can imagine the depression & anxiety of a teen in those circs
it's a good poem for that too
Pebble in the Sky - that's the title of the novel
finally came to me
haven't read it - will look it up
I am missing 7: al5/10; cr5/12; cu6/24; dh6/27; fi6/27/in6/21; na5/10. Clues please? Not bad for not going to list until the last 10, I think.
written in the 1950s
al 5/10 - where one kneels to pray
cu6: - think of the S. American poison that sounds like it ought to be something a doctor would prescribe
cr 5/12 - cr + double vowel + stick
forgot to say, change last vowel
cu 6/24 - cu + cheer **h **h shishkimbah!
on that cu6, that is
dh - dh + vase for ashes + vowel
in6: in + not sea, but dry
fi 6/24 - realting to brotherly or sisterly love
for fi6 = think of the city in Pennsylvania :D
it is amzing how many people have asked for the clue to that in - considering that it is one of the "real" words in the puzzle - LOL
it was still one of the last ones I found, tho :P
my last one was the ta - body powder - duh!
think about how it winds around thru the grid, kje
the ones that twist around are often hard to see
:D that one was the first ta word I found
na 5/10 - pertains to birth
different minds tyger : )
yeah, na5 - preggers women go for pre-na5 checkups
yup.
we complement each other (in addition to the occasional compliment)
I am disappointed in this brownie - I've been waiting all day to have it and now - eh
hi
hi
ha tyger
hi ice
oops haha sorry
different clue for the fi?
fi + spring purple flower minus middle c
hey, ice
hi
so what is this thing like boggle or something, haven't played it before.
bad bad clue - forget that one - doesn't work aaaghh
t's try again
fi 6instead of pour out, fi*l + personal pronoun + Mr. Gore's 1st name
wat
ice, I suggest you read the help page first of all :) this is a fairly complicated & sometimes fiendishly difficult game - but very addictive
oh ok
clear as mud autumn?
Thanks all! (I am sure I tried that fi word several times). Off to bed with me - even on time, for a change. Say hi to Jilli and Stid for me!
think of shakespear times - fi 6 duties or fi6 love - having to do with siblings
I won't stay that long
nite, moon
bye autumn - alas they are gone also - all off to bed
bye autumn - alas they are gone also - all off to bed
bye tyger - think I'll go find my new icon
They usually come on after, kje. Jilli is usually the one that says ni-night to me.
I thought I'd try to hang till ice finishes the help page :)
oh - well both were here earlier
try to give a few more pointers before leaving
OK - may be back
K
ni-night.
nite
ice - the grid changes daily, at midnight U.S. Central Time
oh ok
and the boxes on the bottom are all the possible words there could be, C being the starting letter? etc. etc.
the clues we use are the first 2 letters of a "word" in the grid (taken from a Scrabble word list), followed by the number of letters in the word, and how many points it's worth
ok
the ones that start out (right now) c 0/9 ?
yea
yes, that's what they are. non-Pro members get those helps for the first 2 weeks after joining. Then they go away, unless you go Pro.
oh ok
Pro is a one-time, lifetime fee of $14.95 (a bargain right now in other currencies)
yea I saw.
there are other clues available. links are at the bottom in the Friends of Babble box
Well thanks for all the help.
Lickety's Babble Clues is the most helpful
you're very welcome
this is a very short grid - ones between 100 & 250 words are much more common
mmm okay
and I'm going now; good night :)
good night
Hi Babblers!
hi
Hi Ice
I like the name
haha thanks
Just registered on this thing, was looking for online boggle games and this one appeared to be the most promising.
Yeah, it's the closest to the real thing
Where are you from Ice?
mhmm
Connecticut
and you?
I'm NJ
oh cool, I used to go to Wildwood during the summer.
Yeah, I'm a Seaside Park gal myself, never been to Wildwood, but I hear that it's very nice down there
Yea, I haven't been there in years, the beach is fantastic though.
I'm sure that it is
I can't wait to get back on some sand again
So how'd boggle treat ya today?
Good, I hope
Well I just got on like a couple minutes ago.
I haven't played a game like this in a long time, I must say I'm pretty rusty.
oh, ok
ish- i'm rusty and i play nearly every day
i'm a self proclaimed dork
haha :), ok I'm not rusty, more like, pretty terrible haha.
ok, well, I am too :o) - but that doesn't stop me
Pfft whatever it's all good fun.
if you use Lickety's list on the bottom you will have no problem finishing it
Oh ok, I guess I'll check that out.
It is fun...until it gets under your skin and you just can't finish the puzzle
just checking to see if my icon worked...
:(
? :o(
hi kje
OK what in the world is this thing.
This grid is a BEAR!
hi kimmy - haven't seen you in chat : )
i've been around....
i have 4 to go and they're all vowels.
just not in your town i guess
well - glad you're here - hope to see you more!
go jindigo go!
need help jind?
here if you need help, folks.
i might have some clues for you Jind
stid!
yes
wow stid - thought you were gone : )
thanks kje
im begging at this point - al 4/7 and al 5/16
I am gone, kje ... WAY GONE! rofl *pulls on shades and lolls in the imaginary sunshine*
ice - a new puzzle comes in 40 minutes - may be easier to start on than this heinous one - lots of weird words in this one
al 4/7 al + as ** you knew the answer... name for the Hebrew "a"
how much have you had tonight stid?
Oh ok.
oh -- a new person? welcome!
hi :D
al 5/16 is, of course, the plural...
ice is new - I'm afraid this particular grid may scare her off - LOL
her off
I don't think I've had enough yet kje... the chocolate is in the drawer in the dining room and I have been working on the computer for three hours
wat
i need a ride stid
fun stuff stid?
where are you heading, Kimmy?
sorry ... him?
oops!
ha - that was my sorry excuse for a clue
you should go pro!!! youget a oink or blue head!
well, working on a "reader appreciation" post for the blog for tomorrow. I am afraid it is not my best work, but that's okay. It's something. :-D
the al 4/7 clue that is
oh! rofl! YES! you need a lif', eh?
hello all again
sorry for the interruption but what does something like 4/7, 5/16 refer to?
something IS usually better than nothing
beats me - I was filing taxes until just over an hour ago -
thank you stid!
Ice, the first number is how long the word is, the second number is how many points it's worth
filing taxes this late? so bad!
Oh i get it.
ice - sir - al 4/7 would mean a word staring with al, 4 letters long, and worth 7 points
haha what you guys are saying makes so much more sense now.
hey - I had 2 hours to spare!!!
ice -- have a look at "Help" and then scroll down to Angelsong's link, and Lickety's Babble Clues.
Ice, if you check out Lickety's clues below, you will understand
a 5-letter word is worth double points, so if the tile values five, the word would be worth 10 points and clued like the aa 5/10
ok 2 more ar 5/10 and in 6/21. Anyone? Please!
it's a secret code ice - now that you know....
it is all clear now :)
it shows the first two letters of a word, the word count and the word points
hey jilleroo! I wrote a long letter to hetty today after I saw her in the chat. I am so glad I will get to see all of you in a couple months!
Actually, it's best if you open another window and shrink it sideways for Lickety's clues.
yes, Ice, now that you know the code language, we will have to silence you *offers chocolate as a bribe*
yes jilli - agree - when I use it, I go back and forth
Oh stid -- I missed seeing Hetty!
haha
ar 5/10 is anagram the al 5/10:
:oP
ice - this is a weird group this late at night - we aren't always so silly : )
in 6/21 is fishy -- are you SURE you want a clue?
OK - that may be a lie - but not ALWAYS so sily
Well, kje, I use BabbleExpert so it's all on one page
got that AR
I agree kje - when are you on exactly?
I have a mac jilli -
kje! you're a big fibber!!! *wink* Ice, we are some of us always a little silly, as we have people literally from around the world here.
was that a clue Stid?
that's sweet though.
so some of us invariably have either just woken up or are struggling to keep our eyes open so we can finish.
o=aaah, you poor thing, kje -- I forgot *shedding tear*
jilli, how do you shrink something sideways?
no, just letting you know if I clue the in 6 you'll feel silly
im struggling to keep mine open
or are drinking....
really
ill try to monkey it for a minute
how about in + "not water or air" (the stuff you walk on)
hey jilli - no mac comments! I love my mac!!!
oops. sorry, jumped the gun on the clue
in 6 - in + opp of sea
kje - when do you normally play?
I love your mac, too kje! *looks enviously at kje*
oh
i get it
Tom promises that the next computer we purchase will be a mac
the in 6 thingie
uhm - any time I can - usually start in the morning and pop in and out all day as work/life allows...
ooooo - the mac air!!!!
so sexy!
snags, 1) you click on the square above to shrink it a bit. 2) you put your mouse on the border until it turns into a double arrow. 3) Hold the mouse down and pull it sideways until it's as narrow as youwant.
is that the one that fits in an envelope, it's so thin.
go Ice go!!!
when are you usually on kimmy?
I'm just asking bc ppl in the evening hours tend to be vicious
wow, I shall only dream of that one, kje! LOL no, it'll have to be a not-so-cool mac
got it! Fireworks
I hear one can run Windows on a mac now -- does that mean Expert will work?
YAY Jindigo!!!!
vicious?
I'm on at night mostly, sometimes in the afternoon... est.
thanks all - i am sleepy - off to bed this instant
oh! that is a good question, jill
YAY Jindigo!!!
yay jindigo!!!!
*poof*
sweet dreams jindigo!
kimmy had an interaction with Jacula (yesterday?) that was less than positive
yes, they can be
night jindi
well - you can run windows on a mac - but why would you want to...
thanks jilli
it is a slower processing system than Mac OS
I've had several encounters with Jac that were less than positive
sorry you feel that way kimmy - it is all good natured - truly!
kje, in order to be able to use the wonderful BabbleExpert!
OK - conceded jilli
This is actually pretty fun haha.
well, you can speak for yourself, but as far as other people are concerned I am sure that they feel quite differently
I have a PC at work - I need to remember to try babble expert there
I just wander off when people are cantankerous...
happy you're enjoying it ice!
go Ice go!!! how many words have you found so far?
well - people are people kimmy - the good, bad and the ugly - mostly good here though
I dunno I've been doing it on and off. I just started using this lickety thing.
kje, just email Lickety and he will send it to wherever you are.
I hope tomorrow's grid will be around 200. they seem to go faster when they're bigger.
come on out when I'm on and I'll protect you : )
thanks jilli - didn't know I needed to ask for it
150 max, please, stid -- it's library day, lol.
al 4,4 was a weird one, didn't even know that was a word lol.
no stid no - 150
:oP
snap, kje
snap jilli
150 would be okay, too. but nothing less than 100 I hope.
ice, you'll find lots of weird words in Babble
yes, and there is another al 4/4 that is a man's name
you will find lots of words like that Ice
just change the last letter
today's grid had a multitude of weird, strange and obscure words
there are some words I swear ONLY exist in Babble ice
many languages too, including Klingon
wat
jill -- how's the progress on the library?
really jilli - they've had klingon?
stid -- new roof, new flooring in some areas -- all ok now, but no grant for a new library yet
no, not really klingon... it just seems that way!
omg....lol
I am sooo gullible !
some words with no definition
New storyline: Gullible's Travels
LOL stid!!!
Gullible's Travels in Babbleland
stid -- did you look at my icon story?
YES! we have a title! now all we need are a few scenes...
stid - just look at the glasses!
hello babblers!
oh Jill! that's totally awesome! *grinning ear to ear*
hi helen
heehee
it is a fun story jilli - thanks for sharing it : )
Hi Helen :o)
hi kje, stiddy, jili, kim, all
hi HK!
I did something like that years ago... a friend came in from a long summer vacation when we were in college, and his roommate was going to pick him up at the airport. I went along, dressed in a short miniskirt (usually wore long skirts) and high heels .... and he walked right past me in the airport!
hey helen!
oh helen - I haven't seen snowcake - will check it out!
going to netflix....
another episode of Gullible's Travels, stid
I flirted with him all the way back to the car -- you should have seen the looks on some peoples' faces (he was rather scruffy looking, beard and all)!
what's netfix?
netflix is a movie rental service in the U.S.
Hi Babblers! I don't know whether cu7 has been clued before, but I sure would appreciate some help with this one.
OK - in queue
kje - i watched it about 6 times before i returned it to netflix :)
not sure they do canada, but it delivers movies to your mailbox and you can keep them as long as you like
hey davurs!
cu 7 - mongrel dog + what he wags
Hi Stid!
sorry, davurs, I have 31 to go and that's one of them
cu 7: a mutt dog cu* + the wagging thing on it's hind end...
>*)-((((--<< *handing davurs the fish gently*
good clue, kje!
stid - near snap
oh golly, a misplace apostrophe... and immortalized in the archives. I shall never live this down!
jilli - we can get you those 30 in 15 minutes.....
that's a strange word haha
Thanks kje! How can I miss that!
thx kje!
thx kje!
go davurs go!
yw
kimmy - are you done?

stid -- yes -- thought yousaid you'd read my story!
wouldn't be quite so easy anymore jilli
not much - most def hopin for a smallish grid
I did read your story, but didn't notice the date on it until I read flosey's...
hi knight!
I can twist, I just can't untwist when I am done!
lol stid but it was fun
but can you mash potato?
lol, not familiar with that one kje
Jilli, that is an awesome picture and an awesome bio as well.

we are good dance partners kimmy : )
stid you are too funny

yes indeed, kje
I am not a very good dancer at all, truth be told
well currently - I'd be doing more of a hop - ankle recovering from surgery
hello
you too kje? ardilla also is recovering from ankle surgery!
that glittery dress of mine twisted well -- a friend had a white sheath with many fringes, woowoo
I hope the next grid is big but fairly easy
but I can mash potato on one leg
