There's a peacock that hangs out in the woods here sometimes, usually up in this one tree. I did warn Walter that we couldn't hear him. This is a very vocal peacock; usually if you don't hear him he's not there.
Yesterday, though, we came upon the other one in the area, hanging out on someone's low wall by the street. Walter threw him some rice crackers.

Oh dear, it sure is! When we had to move a year ago we lucked out and found the only rental in this area. We are surrounded by very nice free-standing houses with gardens, woods for the dog at the end of the road, a nature preserve just over thataway, and huge wild parks all over.

Yes. And teh Visserspad is what the fishwives used in the old days to carry the fish from Zandvoort to Haarlem vcenter. They'd stop and wash their feet at a small inn that is now a pub, two blocks from me, called het Stinkende Emmer. For obvious reasons. Also called het Wapen van Kennemerland, but everyone calls it Stinkende Emmer. The Visserspad starts nowadays at Kraantje Lek.

Yes, we did luck out. Our landlady at the old place was actually psychiotic; broke all the windows, her husband attacked me and Walter, etc. We had to find somewhere. Even looked at Waarderpolder and teh bad side of Ijmuiden. Then this turned up. They got 400 e-mails and picked us.

Yes, it was scary, as she is not supposed to have a period with chemo effects, so she had a sonogram and a CT, and pain meds, and is admitted for pain meds and antibiotics to treat a cervicitis. Hubby came home soon after things started. I helped with bedtime for the kids.

sc, i got a rather bad cut/scrape yesterday afternoon, and though the bleeding has slowed greatly, it's not stopped. bandaid keeps it under control, but when i took a peep, it was still oozing (it was gushing at first). can i deal with this with bandaids or do i have to go to a doc, do you think?
Mary was crying, "I don't want to leave my kids, don't make me go." Her mom got upset. It was quite emotional. The kids were scurried off to the basement playroom. But Mary should be home in a few days.

I use super glue on those split areas on my fingers in the winter when my skin gets dry and cracked.

Sutures cannot be done on a wound > 8 hrs old as the wound becomes colonized with bacteria. Keep pressure on it, and ice/cold, and keep it elevated. I did that to my thumb once, when cutting a bagel in half.

Medical super glue is called Dermabond, at least in the US. We use it on kids a lot, for lacerations. It is a great product and the kid avoids the trauma of sutures.
