We observe too great a stress On the risks that on us press And of reference a lack To our chance of coming back Still perhaps it would be wise Not to ca4 or criticize For it's very evident These intentions are well-meant
90 down....and going slowwww
A tip of the hat to Gilbert and Sullivan's cowardly Sergeant for finding a word...
92 down and at a stand still - go dart go
this puzzle is ho6
I must agree
yay for country dances
Speaking of G&S, one of the main characters of Iolanthe is hiding in the southeast corner...
thank goodness ho6 puzzles are pe8
TY Knight I didn't have that pe 8 yet
I dunno..2 ina row
hi -- here's the late jilli
Hi Jilli
hiya jilli
hi better late than never jilli!
ty for the 5 clues I've picked up aldready! (but haven't figured out the pe8 yet)
Hello jilli...you'll be pleased to know that showing up earlier might not have helped very much...
aldready? No -- I gather this grid is not dready
Jilli "." + vowel+conc
there are 2 pe 8's
very closely related
well, I see a kitty word -- purrrr (doesn't count)
thx knight...although I never heard of that one
Thazzy -- my head is too fuzzy to figure out your clue, lol
I guess looking up word meanings is helpful even when there's no definition for the looked up word lol
sorry jilli.
oh, don't tell me there are more of those unwords here, mar!
There's hoir, but not choir
no prob, thazzy -- I'm just tired after a long day
well the first pe8 is a normal word....the second one wasn't hard to find once kinght said it was similar
lol, doug!
i am to6 after doing this grid
mar, I almost never see the long ones at first
it's a real twisty one
not sure if this can be said here? going for it anyway. pe6 a woman monthly visitor, then add on for the pe8
hot stuff, KT?
I remember watching a cartoon where a bandleader was singing "If you think a waltz is ho6, and you like your rhythm to6, the kind that makes you mop your forehead, I got swing for sale!"
ra
firewords
wtg dart....
wtg dart, i have 4 left
congrats Dar
thanks, tazzy -- glad you said it so politely :)
oy vay again, dart!!!
lol
I had a lot to chose from there
congrats dart. taking a break with 49 left.
Great, doug!
Dior is in the grid, making us look super-fantastic!
That pe8 could be described as a kind of table
fireworks
Grats Knight.
wtg KT
Well done on ya, Knight!
gg Knight
wtg knight
any clues before i go
what are the first two letters of the other 8's
eu
yeah I could use a clue for that one
pex2
nighttime for knighttime

not men -- I mean mean
men?
eu 8 is a happy word

nite Cyber
I didn't see herin -- got here too late
where are you going, nan?
she said something about work.
and not wanting to go
to the coast for hubby's school reunion and a visit with the kids
oof, too baad! Hoped it was golf
might squeeze a game in!
oh good, nan -- that sounds like fun!
oh yay school reunion. going to fun?
nan -- what's you handicap (if any)?
don't know, thazzy -- have only ever met two of his classmates and that was 45 years ago!
30
I don't play golf, I play at golf!

Good morning, a little bit smaller today. Then maybe a slignt possibility for fireworks...
hi ajv :)
its a tough grid ajv hello
well, nite all I have to get up in 6 hours. Hubby is getting two root canals
oh -- tough again!
night thaz
oh, thazzy! two root canals! Poor guy!
he only has about 6 teeth left and for some reason he wants to keep them instead of getting false ones
ewwwww hate root canals
why so few left, thazzy?
they're not so bad...it's the bloodiy cost of them that's the killer
cna't say Jill he brushes all the time
muh more then I do
much
touching wood everywhere I can find it -- I've never had a root canal...
does he smoke?
avoid them at all costs jilli
very very painful
every tooth in my mouth is root canaled except 1
I've only lost one tooth, so far, knocking with Jill. Yes about half a pack a day
ouch just
Smoking is bad for gums --> teeth
maybe it's a guy thing. both my parents smoked and dad lost all his but mom is 73 and she still has all of hers
I've been to hell with my mouth....braces 2x....jaw surgery...wired shut for 2 months...root canals and crowns
I had lots of gum trouble until I quit smoking -- now none
ac 5 anyone
not yet ru
ac5= a + c** (auto) + personal pronoun
I don't think I'd ever get him to quit smoking. it was all I could do to get him to cut back
thx jellen is the 6 close to it?
ty jellen -- I guess this is another stinker full of obscurities
Yes. Just add a consonant
and no S again
ty again jellen
ok nite all. poof
night thazzy
Night, Thazzy
thx jellen...ayone have the last to au's?
and last 2 au's?

oh -- our friend da4 finished and left 1
sorry -- pooped
Ok, I've found 25 words, now is the time to check Lickety.
mar -- found them in morewords so you can too

that's good news, ajv. I hate re words
But 7 pe-s and six of them 6-letters or longer...

Hi Avj
This grid is very "different"...
It is/ How are you today
I'm fine, thanks. It's sunny and warm and my kids have behaved quite well this far. And you?
its very cold here
how cold could it be in Australia?
Its 8 C out there
yikes, are you in the mountains?
No
its 46 F here. Its winter
Out in the hills its about 5 C
It's evening right? That's been the below average temps here in the NE U.S.
Here is 13 Cor so
In the Mountians Bichon its 0.8 C so yes winter is here. Just turned the heating on to 30
Yes evening. It gets cold as the sun sets. According to the B.fs dad we had 6 hours of sunshine about a week ago
30 is pretty warm for heat. We keep the house at about 20 in the winter
The heater is a tad dodgy. We keep it at about 25 over night
We keep it a lot colder at night and sleep under down. I remember when the cost of heating a house was much less and we walked around the house in summer clothes
I don

gaygaygaygaygaygaygaygaygaygay LoriP
hi, kje - I thought yesterday was bad for me,too, but the car tops that - hope you're OK
Oh kje! I'm so sorry to hear that. The important thing is that you're okay though! ***hugs***
G'd morning JBV
well, a little hurt pride (how stupid was that!) and very inconvenienced... but otherwise fine
THat is ok
Hi JBV
hi, Lori - came home late yesterday after a conference, exhausted, took a nap until 9:30 p.m. !! then decided to start that monster grid, unfortunately took it right up to the flip with EIGHT words to go!
We've all had those less than stellar moments kje. You aren't alone.
sorry to hear about the car, kje - I'm sure you have a mess of paperwork to deal with now too
ah, very disappointing jbv
JBV that sucks
JBV, that is a total bummer. :(
kje, sorry about your car, but fortunate no one was hurt?
hi, flosey - yep, first grid I haven't finished in a long time
KJE guess the car had a death wish
but would really like to get out of 2008 if possible - so far a major ankle fracture with months of recovery which of course put me behind a couple months at work...and now totaled my care - 2008 sucks - LOL
KJE opps
it was 11 years old and committed suicide - LOL
LOL, kje - glad you're laughing - and think about how 2008 can only get better for you from here on in

Good good
I don't understand why they enjoy it Lori - seriously...THAT is fun?
hope it gets better herin - if it helps - you have magnificent hair - LOL
I've seen that type of thing for years and years. I'm immune, other than the "wow" factor.
What i don't understand is the point of going to a website with a chat just to iss others off. Go to AOL chat or something
I don't understand how so many find us - I mean, comeon - we aren't huge!
Maybe im just old and grumpy
we have a few in Yahoo bridge, they come in, bid 7nt and leave

phantom: imperseverant
It's important Awy.
Awy:
no, I was too shy, but thoroughly enjoyed them
Always use a "screen name". Never disclose your real name, school, phone number or where you live. Always tell mom/dad if they receive any ominous communication that is frightening or upsetting. Never exchange photographs over the Internet (or through the mail). Never agree to meet anyone in person that you met in a chat room. Never give out your password to anyone. Never agree to enter private chat rooms. Never accept everything a person says online at face value.

yes, carlee got it, sorry I did not explain well
Oh, missed 'yer entrance. G'd morning carlee
just go in
Do you know the guy? If you don't I say send your husband.
and if he wakes up..his problem for sleeping in wrong room
I would go in and get what I needed and leave
unless u don't know him..then wake up hubby
lost here
It's your room! Just go in and laugh it up to a funny story, which, sorry but, it is!
I would send the hubby...what if he sleeps nude? :O
Monkey, I think you hit on the problem, it's not a real good friend that I know and am comfortable with
he probably won't even hear u
then get up hubby...
I would send your husband, he, Afetr all, it's his "fault".
LOL Uni
hmm, differing opinions... my own inner voices
would still just go get what you need - no big deal - if you peak in and he is inappropriately undressed...just back out -
LOL not the voices! :)
JBV, I lived in a dorm last year...I had to go through rooms/bathrooms with so many girls (and their accompanying guys) that I am desensitized. He is in your house! Do what makes you comfortable!
I think I hear lori <cackling>
If you don't want to wake up hubby, but want him out of the way, knock loudly and say you need to get a few things.
I'll let you know later what happened......... I'm deciding as I go upstairs right now....
Not so much cackling, as giggling. I mean, it's not funny, but it's funny. Course, I'm a bull in a China Shop kinda' gal
Lori just loves waking people up. Trust me, I know.
Let us know JBV, we'll start the betting pool...... :)
knocks and walks for me
so what if you wake him up - you have to have clothes!
if he was up so late, he'll sleep thru it
My thing is politely knock on the door so its just me i need to get my clothes for work. Can you cover up so i can get my clothes thanks
duh..i HAVE the up6...but do u think I could find the ro4,4..sheesh..NEED COFFEE
hate c words
( I feel like I swapped brains with lori for that one...)***smacking forehead***
clue for up6?
It a sound made by lions.
I's toss a firecracker in the room and direct him to the bomb shelter
Up6 have I not.
I was sleeping on a male friends couch and he stumbled out of bed nakid and answered the phone. I had to roll over and pretend i didn't se it
fish me - thanks - I would prefer something appropriate for breakfast : )
Bacon shaped as fish?
weird - but I never turn down free bacon : ) *mmm, salty!*

KJE i knew one of my pregnant friends that was ill all day
ok, I'm back, all dressed and ready to go - I think joansie had it right - he was snoring so loud he didn't even know I was in there! picked out clothes from the closet, got my shoes, my jewelry, my makeup, etc. - he didn't budge!!
Fantastic JBV
there we go..bob's ur uncle jbv
good for you jbv
I was really stressing out
something to laugh about at work
and I won't even mention how I stayed up late the night before getting the other room ready - changing sheets, straightening up the clutter, making room in the closet!!!
Oh dear bad hubby. Need to hang a label on the door next time saying Guest room
time to redecorate ur spare room into a proper dressing room..maybe a nice chaise lounge...
anyway, this is the best time of day for me - just me time, and you are all great for being there, thanks, babblers!

Green what you listening to?
And were the flock is everyone:
I just put Disney on for my class

has anyone heard from Linda or her husband?
is that Lind?
(sounds like it is)....she said they'd pop on Friday or so
Ok i am watching Trinni and Susanne and they are trespassing on the Long man. I wonder if they would do it if it was Jesus
herin, I have no idea what you are talking about! :)
is this grid "nice"?
autumnmoon - is that her husband?? She said autumnmoon would know how she was
compared to yesterday..yes is a nice grid
no green naughty
long man?
I'm completely stalled at 30 words.
I'm only 11 in already....but I have the day, and hubby's not coming home tonight, so I have the night too!
Long Man of Wilmington is a pagan icon. I feel that its rude to the Pagans
Good Morning!

Thanks Green
thank you lynxxx
22 the only minute I'll be ahead of green
never mind what i am talking about no one gives a crap most of the time anyway
lol Lex, I love that you think I'm good at this....boosts my ego!
herin - this is all over my head! but I care that you are here (and happy I hope)!
herin - were you answering my question about theme of the day??
I thought there was only a theme on Fridays?
I akready knew what the icon was, Herin. Didn't mean to not engage; jsut staring at words and getting on with other things. But I agree with your original premise that whoever the heck you're watching probably would not tresspass on a major Christian icon.
Who can clue some ho's? I've only found the 4 so far.
Oh, there's the 6...
teaching and talking with students and playing (looking for words) mostly that aren't there
so, I love LLBean customer service. I found two turtle necks that my kids never word - along with the receipt -from 2006!!! I just popped them in an envelope. Just got an email - they are crediting me. so cool
keep your chat clean - kiddies abound! :)
I thought ho's was a respectable woord among the younger set these days?
hey..herin... u ok?
lol monkey - that was just a general comment, not directed to you! :)
Thought so. I was making a joke. I need practice, I guess.
seriously - I'll watch my usually foul mouth
it was a good one! :) :)
watch out lex - I'm up to 20
still at 22 - silly me - talking with students
I'm on a roll! 31!
I think John Irving would want "Garpier" to be a word
phae - which part of the grid are you looking at? :) hard finding many at a time
ooooh, are there re words?
I think odiax should be a word.
There are a whopping 1 re words.
I already tried that
oooh, and I got it!!
I'm psychic...they just come to me out of nowhere! ;-)
22 lex, 22
how long is the re word?
5 letters
hello everyone!
re5/12 - not the real deal
Hi Annie
Hello Annie!
Hi there!

Hi AnnieB & Haz

Hello Haz
Hello again - was cleaning and then word searching.
Fine
Hi Hazel, phaeton,MG, Green, [[carlee}}, herin and anyone I missed
As for kiddies bit me. Tired of trolls today
So can anyone clue ho 5's?
herin, methinks it's time for you to go to bed :)
Not too thrilled with this grid today

Hi Mom!!
Hi Mom

Hi Lynxxx and Phaeton
MOM!!!
Hi mom
{{Mom}} Hello to you...and not sunny here, drizzly
About two hours ago Carlee, then a maybe troll that left about an hour ago or more.
Thanks!
{{Carlee}} good morning
I think i slept enough today to stay up late
Hi Herin
i must have missed it...
{{Annie}} it is nice to see the sun, have been missing it
They were big fans of LoriP...
good morning Uni
mom - it's raining here AGAIN!!! but, tomorrow and all (long) weekend are supposed to be lovely
hehehe..i can imagine they were
with the schools getting out soon, I would imagine it will troll season
Hi Mom, how is your home/hunt?
I hope the weekend does turn nice for you, AsGreen
where are you green??
It is slow, Uni. We are going to look at one on Saturday.
thanks for asking :)
NJ - it's rained all week, EXCEPT during my tennis match yesterday (which was awesome!!)....:)
Mom, have you had your house reappraised yet?
Yuck - sorry - not a big fan of rain that doesn't leave
How long do you have before you *have* to move? I'll be thinking of you and wishing you a wonderful home!
34!...rollin, rollin, rollin...keep them words a rollin...yee haw!!!
lived in Seattle for 6 years
Are the io5's related?
I've had one friend who's sister passed away this week, and another friend who had an aneyurism (I can never spell that) but who is going to be ok, eventually....and the rain...it's been a hellova week
io5 words differ only in the last letter
Thanks!
the highway project has been pushed to 2010, so we are hoping we can stay until then or at least until be can find something we are happy with.
We did Annie and they appraised it $9,000 higher than the state did
{Asgree}} so sorry
Well, I am glad you have a better appraisal and more time...maybe the market will boom by 2010 and will work out better.
exactly half way so a good time to leave - gooodnite everyone
in the end it's all ok...but just very depressing... I won tennis yesterday and then put on the brightest shirt I own and a big smile tacked to my gums (lol) and I'm in a better mood today!! :)
hi flosey, how are you?
BBL, time to eat
Goodnight lynxxx.
bye lynxxx! see ya later!
Night, lynxxx!
Mom, Hopefully you will get more for your home now..I feel terrible that you are forced to leave a home you love. You will find one that you can love too, I am sure
good night Lynxxx, pleasant dreams.
Mom can they just turf you out under compulsory acquisition
Oh Uni, we can hope.
ewwww I SOUND depressed - let's move on from that! :) :) :) :)
that is our plan, Annie.
ninight lynxx
good game, green
night lynxxxie
Yes, Herin, they can. If you don't come to terms with the state, they can take it by eminent (sp) domain
Mom, you'll make a new place a home too - and look back fondly on this one... and now that you have more time, you'll find something great!!
OK, going to go take a shower and putter. BBL, probably. Have fun, folks.
bye bye MonkeyGames
bye monkey....
I'm stalled at 24 - diving back in....may open list soon
this may sound hokey, but our home is the four of us, we just need a house to put it in.
thank you for the kind words, Asgreen
I get that
I just opened the list at 24
Mom - lol - I WAS going to say - "a house is just stuff" - you'll make a new home wherever you go! But I thought that was hokey too....so you got it!!
go for it green
Mom, not hokey at all..
lex, now I need to find at LEAST one more - lol
you all are so sweet. Thank you
green - sorry you had a bad week - tramatic 6 years in Seattle are exactly why I have "rain issues"
ooh, 25! lol
MMFPh to that MOM thats crap. If they are wanting to do that to your home fight for them to buy you the same type or better yet get land and move house
move the house even
Hello all. Another cold, rainy day here...but a summery weekend is coming!
hi scrabs
hi Scrab - was just commenting on same!
Hi Scrabbs!
Herin, that is what we are aiming for, a house. Land here is very expensive and to move the house it cost prohibitive
Herin, "the state" seizing houses has been a disturbing aspect of Canada and the USA for years. Modern day isn't nearly as bad as Africville in NS for example, but there is a long history of gross injustices.
good morning rainy Scrabbler from sunny KY (for a change)
scrab! I won yesterday!! 5-7, 6-3, 6-4
Yahoo, Green!
Do you play USTA League Tennis?
and it was a rematch from a couple of weeks ago where we lost in very close 3 sets too
Hi Scrabbler
I've never been rated
I'm pretty sure I'm mid-high intermed.
with 38 down and 74 left, it is time for me to get out of the jammies and start the housework.
Bye Mom
{{Hugs to all of you}}
Uni they do it here thats why i asked. My parents were very smart when buying a house and tripple checked freeway routes. But sadly sometimes you just are darn unlucky in house spots
I'm looking into a tennis school/long weekend this summer while kiddos are at sleepaway camp
bye Mom - see ya soon!
bye bye Scrabbler and AsGreen, enjoy your day
Dang Mom you have lived there for ever haven't you (searching memory)
45 years, Herin
We went to the Killington Tennis Camp in 1995--had a blast.
Bye Mom and damn :(
thank you Herin. Bye for now
I saw that - we actually did a golf school there 12 years ago I think - Memorial weekend in fact
lol - maybe it was '95 not '96 - how funny would that be?
They did videos--then we reviewed them--funny!
anyone have the ca6,30
I've been to Saddlebrook in FL - with some girlfriends. I was just getting going though. Now I think I'd get a lot more out of it. But don't want to go to FL in the summer
I learned golf in school
I have it carlee - just trying to figure how to clue it

I know - I need a clue
oh err
It means: a massive wild ox,(genus), of southeastern Asia and the Malay Archipelago,
This grid has too many vowels.
That it does Scrabler
well - thanks infernal - now I know exactly what is is because I have memorized all the genus'.......lololololol
brb
Yes, it was completely clear to me too, lex
Thats cause you are a Genius?
look if your going to mock me i just wont clue. I didn't know how to clue it and the reason i put in genus is the Genus actually names it in the genus/
We are joking, herin.....I like definitions.
mmfph
Morning, all. Uh oh. I see a nose out of joint.
Hi again folks. Oh, hi Scrabbler!
And I just monkeyed it finally. **entering the word in my Babble Barin Databank**
Hi Judi
Herin, please calm down. This is the third time today I have seen a 'misunderstanding' get blown out of proportion and turned into a theoretical attack.
Hi Judi + MG
Hi Judi
morning allsies
From me Uni?
Hi Nuttie
Hi Nutter
Genus? I thought she said "penis". Is my mind in the gutter or what?
hope todays is nicer then yesterdays
No, Nut---too many vowels.
hmmm....yesterdays wasn't fun to play with
Hi Nut, it's smaller which is good but thats about it.
Hi FM
Nutie Yesterdays grid bit back
hello Scrabber :)
I gave up on yesterdays. I was vanquished by vowels.
i like the word vanquish
I commend anyone that finished yesterday's grid. I just could not "see" words in that grid and struggled to get 1/3 done before + after work.
i also like the word peruse
Scrabbler, several people at school were trying to tell me that coca cola will help a UTI clear up. I thought caffeine and sugar were bad. If it's just the acidity I've been taking extra vit C. What do you know about this cola assertion?
I like the word "serendipity".
cranberry juice monkey
thats a good one too scrabs
Yup, have that. Liters of it.
UTI: lots of water and cranberry supplements.
MG, I think any fluid is good---just making lots of pee and flushing out the bladder frequently is good.
MG drink tons of water
Hi Annie
Hi Scrabbs!
Oh yes coke is brillant for upsetting your body sugars. Lots of Cranberries juice and pills
OK. Yup, just been pouring back the water and cran juice. Had to go to the speed post last night for it, darn it. When I was younger they tended to clear up on their own, bu tthis got so bad so fast I called teh advice post and tehy said go in and get antibiotics.
Also make sure the UTI isn't an STD
I've never heard the Coke thing. I would think it would be wiser to avoid sugary/acidy liquids.
mornin babblers!
Thanks all! And thanks, Herin and Judi, that's what I thought too.
lolols fernal
Hi Eva
MG, antibiotics should clear it up quickle
STD it ain't. Both parties monogamous for 16 years.
morning eva
*quickly
Hi nutty and EvaN
Hope so. Had to skip the second half of school today. The final is about interviewing troubled clients so I had to be there for that half.
hi annie
Awful chairs there.
with 80 to go I must have breakfast and get ready for another day with Boss Richard Head who is being quite a little problem child this week.
By that i mean get them to see a doc. A quick pee in a cup with a stick is a good idea. I can't believe im actually speaking about this
Neither can we
is it friday yet??
Morning, Eva. Almost!
Hey, UTIs are common in females, herin--I think we have all suffered with at least one.
Hope yo uavhe a good day inspite of him Scrabbler
Well someone asked so i told
Hahaha, FM!
Them who? Anyway, it isn't that type of infection but they tooka sample for cultures and all anyway so anything and everything there will turn up.
i was "working from home" yesterday, and this week STILL seems long!
yeah, i'd get them all the time, then the dr told me to STOP holding it
If someone said go away, would you?
That is my problem, Nut--last year I had 3 within a few months---holding it in too long when busy at work worshipping my boss.
Excuse me Fmitch I have as much right to be here as you. I ignore you and so thus ignore me be a grown up would you and not being five.
welp, i quit holding it and got over my public bathroom phobia...mostlyl
Enjoy the day everyone!
Nut what exactly are you holding or don't i want to know
Later Scrabbler
bye, scrabbs..try to have a good day despite Dr. R. Head
Hmm. Too much stress can bring them on too, I'm told. I used to get them fairly frequently. Then I rid myself of the lawyers I worked for and, voila! No more STIs.
my pee of course fernal
I wonder if that's what did it. I have in the past couple of weeks engaged in no activity that usually brings 'em on. But I was so busy with school work at my apprenticeship place Monday I didn't get up and go as often as I should have by any means.
Anyway, bye Scrabbler!
i bet monkey...unless your (excuse this) wiping back to front
Monkey how is little monkey?
Stress. Ah. Of oucrse. I've been getting more flu's and everything for months, doctor is sure it's related to working and getting a degree at a school in a foreign language and raising a kid...
Okay, time to change the subject! LOL.
Thought of that Evan but careful about that. Herin, Walter will be 4 in September.
Scary: they start public school here at 4. It goes so FAST!
So are there anywords that use the g except the g word?
Nor He is going to look so cute in his uniform
now walter is a good name!
G'd morning again Babblers. I see the word fairy didn't come and enter my remaining 90 words while I was gone.....
I got the one "g" word, but I keep getting drawn to the G like there should be more.
They don't wear uniforms here. But yes, he sure would!
Ok
ok, gotta get the hubber dressed, laters
Morning Lori :)
Nice to know that paid members can be trolls to. Pity Dr G cant tell them off.
Hi nut. Bye nut......
He's named after his great-grandfather. He has Alzheimers, so we thought it would be something we could do for him that would mean a whole lot to him while things stoill can.
I am tattling on myself - I am sitting here eating.....chocolate cheesecake...bad girl
Whooza troll??
Hi Lori and bye nutty
Herin, you might want to hold those sort of comments to yourself, or at least out of babble. Hi again everyone!
thanks cool monkey

okay - are you guys in a cyber feud or something?? what was THAT all about
Herin, I just read back in chat...I didn't see any names called and don't want to. I am just saying that others might feel the same about various babblers and we DON'T need more drama today.
Can someone clue the 2nd ho4?
im ok today uni, just plodding along as per usual. you?
Watch your language Monkey!!!
Anagram of the first, Monkey. Think Egyption gods.
MG it's an Israeli dance
talkin' ho's om here
Monkey its an anagram of th 1st ho4
hello everyone
Pink - plodding sounds very Eeyore. All well?
We had a discussion earlier about ho's being a perfectly acceptable word among the younger crowd these days!
Thanks, folks!
hi pab!
Oh yeah, Monkey. That's right up there with "bee-yatch".
G'd morning pab
And pimp. I mean, what the heck???
f*** it and f*** Fmitch and f*** it completely that i get harassed and all off a sudden im being a drama queen.
Howdya like this clue - I am a skeered at ho4/5 movies
Hi pabtrek
Ooof.
judi - I'm still using my daughters word bisnatch
Oh and further more the Ho 5 means frost not a prostitute which is spelt whore
Whoa! Herin! FMitch, you better apologize!
Lol, Lexlee. That's a good one!
Sure, I was on about ho being the modern spelling for whore.
just playing??!!
Bisnatch is still around? That was big in the late nineties...haven't heard that in years. Yikes.
actually, just yesterday at the hairdresser, i heard a girl say "cised" i didnt know people still said that!
Morning, one and all!
Hello!
wow - no - now my very creative daughter THOUGHT that one up herself!!
G'd morning Bzzn
I see a fish today.
jkjk no offense
Hi Bea
yes that fish is headed upstream
good grief, this is not an easy grid i'm thinkin'
Guess I won't use that word when I get frustrated.
Blech. Vowels. I need a break. BBL.
That was ho 4 /5 it also means gray of beard Coleridge used it in The Rime of the Ancient Mariner
like frost
?
I know. I was talking about just ho. Not a word in the grid. Guess I need to practice jokemaking.
hideehideehidee HO
herin - do you actually KNOW this stuff or do you go look it up???
We need to STOP talking about bad slang...it's making a mess ;)
LOL @ Sharon...<3 Cab!
if ado is a word then the past tense should be adid.
your mom's a mess!
Well phoo.
I knew that ho 4/5 was frost i looked it up for context
Fireworks!
That's a southern word, Sharon.
LOL Sharon
WOOHOO! MERK!
GO MERK!
Yay Merk!!!
lol. I have to go to court, I"ll be back later.
wow, looking at todays grid, i wouldnt think fireworks possible...
Congrats Merk!!!
Bye Sharon!
Congrats Merk
Yah Merk and Eva
I'm with you Eva, 22 and holding......
ty, not a bad grid, usually short ones bug me more
Wahoo, Eva
Later SHaron, have a good one
I need four words. And I loathe them. For life. Babble is losing it's charm for me today.
I had a brief surge and am now stalled out hopelessly at 47.
diving in **SPLASH**
i peetered out at 33 words...heh
Three more! All sevens...Ew.
You can do it Uni!
C'mon now Uni, everybody loves awkward moments. Have I mentioned I have 22 words? ***perhaps I should look at the grid, that might help***
FM -- i love your icon today. :)
Thanks EvaN
It does, Lori. I should know-- I've dabbled in it myself.
Now I'm glaring for teh dr5. Anyone got the dr5?
DR5 = not wtter
wetter even
AH! Duh, fish please. And thanks.
How 'bout the ep's???? I see they not!
23 now! wonder if I mentioned that yet? God bless Lickety
EP = E + "f" sound + either/**
then change the las letter for another EP5
Uni there is an unusual up7 do you ahve that one?
Thanks.
Awww, dog's wagging in her sleep.
you can also add a vowel to the end of the first EP i clued for an EP6
Lori JUST clued it to me, FM! Two more p words now. I am using list, just are dumB :)
ladies and gents i must off to do my shopping, my cupboards are like a ghost town lol. Take care everyone *hugs to all*
Thanks.

hi Pink! Happy shopping. ***hugs***
loooooool fm *poof*
annie -- i didnt have that before, but i do now -- thanks!
hints for the G word?
Like a long fish with an extra internal vowel.
Evan--put a vowel in the middle of the fish
Oh thank heavens, am done!
Not the squiggly fish type, the one with the big mouth.
YAYYYYY UNI!!!
Yay Congrats Uni!
YAY for Uni...w00t woot
Congrats Uni!
FM, funny icon
Can someone clue the er that is not mistaken?
WOOHOO! UNI!
Monkey Girls name
What an ugly grid...
Thanks, Herin!
sor right
still not getting the G... :/
That'sa species name for heather, or I miss my guess.
Its an ox Eva
or Large Asian ox
e + strange light around the body minus last letter.
ga + it's yo** turn
Fish. Three letters, starts with G. Pike is one kind of 'em. Then insert a vowel before the first vowel.
mmm pike
Barracuda's another kind, also tasty.
Never been in a position to try that but have heard it is good too.
still never figured out the clue (since i know nothing of fish) but i noodled it... thanks all!
Wrap it in foil with garlic and butter and toss it into coals.
I love any recipe that start with garlic and butter :)
Well, but, who doesn't?
I made a Greek sauce last night to go with souvlaki. I'll bet you'd like it.
yup true!
Monkey did your spices dish go well?
***my god, this grid has spewing profanity the likes of which have not been seen since yesterday....***
oh go on make our mouths water ....
2 med. potatoes, boiled and mashed and cooled. Add 1/2 cup olive oil and 1/3 cup white vinegar. Add about 25 or so garlic cloves. Blend to sauce.
Oh, and salt and black pepper. Serve as sauce for grilled meats.
Raw garlic, of course.
I am copying that down, sounds great!!
ooh goodie, profanity! that might wake me up!
is that garlic mashed potatoes? or potato mashed garlic? heh
It was REALLY nice. Tonight what with feeling poorly and all I'm just going to toss a couple of steaks on the grill and make up some masala potatoes.
were's the profanity in the grid?
yummy Monkey
good morning that's a lot of garlic!
Hi Jandel
I don't see it eaither, Herin, but not for lack of looking...
Yes, the sauce was a hair shocking. But wirth it.
Spicy then?
Hello, is today's grid any nicer?
ahh, the typist omitted the word "me" spewing profanity. ***beats typist harshly***
For those that like garlic try stuffing a chicken with whole cloves, as many as the cavity will take and then roast as usual.
G'd morning Jandel
no, its not. back away slowly, so as not to provoke it...
Hello Mrs Katie
lol lori
Hi Katie, harp and Jandel
FMitch, that is GREAT, but even better is to add butter to the garlic, take all the bones out of the main part of the chicken, and seal it up before roasting.
G'd morning harp, Mrs Katie... :)
LOL I love your cooking style Monkey
Oh Eva not two days in a row!! I gave up yesterday as it was just miserable
Who's got a good sage recipe? I have a shrub that needs to be reminded it works FOR mankind. LOTS of sage needs harvesting.
Grid not as easy as it first looked
b
Grid, to put it nicely, really quite sucks.
good afternoon all
It's evil, this grid has 3 6's hidden somewhere, I'm sure
Sprite! Hullo!!
hiya MonkeyG!
It actualy has seventeen 6s lori..
Goodness, sprite hello!
ahh, sprite! how ive missed that horny heart of yours! ;)
FMitch! Long time no see! EvaN :D Lovely to be here.
(Sprite) Is it supposed to rain tonight, do you know? Want to grill outdoors.
good afternoon/ morning everyone...thank goodness the sun is smiling here ..
Hello!
Hi elder
they talk of rain, MonkeyG, but only as a possibility. You might be ok. Do you have a big parasol or something like that in case of panic?
hi elder
G'd morning sprite, elder. ***Uni's a comedienne today...***
There's teh roll-out sun shade but I'm not sure that's supposed to get wet.
hints for the Left-hand A?
FMitch, hello, just read joke made me giggle...LOL
I can use a good laugh. Didn't sleep one wink last night. Went to bed this afternoon and slept for 3 hours, so am a little less zombielike now.
You OK? Just insomnia?
I didn't sleep either but that was mostly to do with going to the spoedpost about a UTI.
*grin* elder Sorry EvaN haven't got either of them
Sprite sorry to hear you have not had much sleep - its awful .. how is your husband today ...
yeah, worries and hormones, I think. Am into menopause, and hubby has a burnout/breakdown, so not surprising I guess.
both ar5/12's
One is passion, the other ends like robor
*robot
G'd morning Vic!
my husband is my big love, but having him home all day asking attention is kinda tough on me, lol. We need to find ways to make it work, me and him both at home with depression and burnout problems.
Oh dear. I understand. Well, hang in there! House and Heroes are on tonight.... always a good lineup...
HI Sprite and Elder and Vicuna
Take teh mind off things, I mean.
Passion where is it nowadays ??
thanks vic!
beautiful clues, Vic, thanks and hi
Morning billygoart Vi
It's off the left-hand A, elder! lol
Hello, all.
hehehe MonkeyG, I never watch series on tv, I am too impatient. I wait until I can download or buy the whole series and then I watch!
Vic, LOL
hows about that bottom i?
lol Vic
I know, FM, I should be a fire engine today. But the closest I have is a bulldozer! =)
Well, watch these! You need to see House in order though or you'll have no idea what's going on in season 4. The post writer's strike season finale double episode was just amazing.
Not'n wrong with the goat :)
ok, I am putting House on my to see list then! Heroes is one I wanted already. Am watching Millennium atm... anyone remember that series?
ir6/24 - if it ended in -escent it would mean rainbow-colored like an oil slick, but instead it ends with a short adj ending
Haven't seen that one.
again a lovely clue, Vic, thanks for making my start so easy :D
Herin, did you do the restoration on the fire engine ?? and how did you get from the UK to Australia .. costly ...
You're most welcome.
thanks again vic!
did I miss lady or is she not chatting?
so, the last tile i have no words from is the lower i in the center column...
The rh 6 almost pushed me off the edge. This grid is poopy
She WAS here...
two io5/14's, differing only in final letter
Bet you ahve more than 22 words now though Lori
The chat/ clues are coming fast... well they are to this tired and feeling very old today babbler:)
thanks, thanks, and thanks again!
aw elder... how come?
A whopping 51 now. Ack, ack, ack, ackity-ack!
Better get on with some work, see you all later
OK, dropping out for a bit tow atch a documentary. Back later.
bfn Katie!
Oh, I didn't see you, KatieMcG! Hope all is great with you... and bye!
and bfn MonkeyG!
Bye Katie and MG
Bye, MonkeyGames.
Later Mrs katie! Take care :0
and MG
any mums here? Is it normal for a 10 yo girl to lie to try and escape problems? Even if we have very strict rules about lying being worse than any other thing?
Good afternoon all!
Afternoon Haz
Sprite, it's quite common, but I think the real question is whether or not this is normal behavior for this particular girl.
hi Haz! George is smiling at me from the livingroom table this week!
Yes Sprite, its all part of learning ../Development, testing boundaries etc etc
Hello, Haz!
hello Haz.
My previously 10 year old, now 19 is around here somewhere. She may have some insight.....
We all have escape hatches.
Oh, and g'd morning Haz
Sprite i am here. I just had to feed kity
she keeps forgetting to call home if she is lunching at a friend's, or playing. And then she lies about having called, but us not picking up the phone. So I said: why not leave a message then? And she went all teary and we knew she was lying, and after a while she confessed.
Greetings all.
hi lady *hug*
That sounds more annoying and frustrating than disastrous, sprite.
boundary testing. SO common. Be consistent,a nd have results for violating the rules.
Safety is not negotiable IMO
thanks guys. I was worried, don't want to have a member of our family lying... trust is so important. Ok, punishment for both lying and not informing us of her whereabouts.
Only my 2 cents, now that I've killed chat......
Just let her know that the reason you would like a call is common courtisey (excuse spelling) and that you would respect that she tells you were she is incase there is a need to contact her of have you be contacted
I agree, Lori!
Sprite don't be too alarmed, the family values will be there and keep here in good stead when she is older. When they are playing they forget too wrapped up in what they are doing and then they feel bad for not contacting you , they just want to get it right, but sometimes they just do it wrong ..
she knows all that, lady.
thanks elder, and all, you have made me much less worried :)
I remember the groundings i got if i didn't tell my parents where and whom i was with
I wish uni was here. She still does it, we insist on knowing where they are, and that they're going to be where they say they're going to be. Safety cannot be emphasized enough, and trusting her/him to call, is so important
At ten she is probably lying because she wants to please you and doesn't want to disappoint you, rather than because she wants to hide things from you.
concur with that Vic.
At that age, Vic knows. Again, just be consistent, with whatever your house rules are. They want to know the expectations are still there.
Vic is wise.
ok, I can handle that, Vic. Lady: yes, she is gonna be grounded! Lori: I explained to her a 1000 times, that if something would be wrong, she would want us to look for her right away. So in order to know if something is wrong, we NEED to know where she is.
Sprite hun does she have access to a phone like a phone card or a home calling number?
Exactly sprite, you've answered your own question. :-)
she can call from each friend's house. All the parents allow that.
Sprite, don't mean to make you feel worse but ... wait till adolescence arrives, its like they have been over taken by aliens or the the devil. ...
Lori: how?? I know what I explained to her... I just was worried about her lying!
ill be honest -- when i was 10 + i got caught doing something i know i wasnt supposed to do, i lied my FACE off!
An older child may have more leeway, but 10 is very young in terms of naivete of the lesser elements of the world.
lol EvaN... and you still turned out an ok person, right?
i like to think so....!
i think it was self-preservation....who wants to get in trouble?
Ok. So she has no excuse. Can you ask her why she felt the need to lie. Use feelings. Like It makes me cross and worried when i don't know where you are. Why do you feel you can't call me? Do you think that its embarrising to ring your mum? That kinda thing.
I could never lie, I could try but I always blushed so i never got away with it.
my son will be 12 this weekend and he still has to call home as well. It is fine with me if they wanna play, no problem. I just want to know where they are.
LOL EVa? I'm shocked. Shirley not you. :) sprite, I'm simply saying that you seem to feel the message hasn't sunk in, so you must address it.
thanks lady, will do that. :)
Ah, the wonders of the chat word, FM. Here you can lie like a rug and we'll never know you're blushing.
i was the good kid, so either my parents really believed me, or else what i did was so little in comparison with what my brother did, they just decided to let it go....heh
Herin, i think she just forgets ...
I lied like a rug on so many occasions, and got busted every time. Gave up on it shortly thereafter..... :-)
*grin*
ah, ok Lori, true. Am going to do so now then... hubby is home from shopping, time to talk. Back later, guys, and thanks for helping me through another parental hiccup.
My Mother as mothers do - could read me better than a book..lol
All shall be well, sprite.
i often forgot to call home...i knew my mom wanted me to, but sometimes time would get away from me + id just forget...
mmmmm maybe you need to ask her if she forgets can the parent that shes with kindly remind her.
Good luck sprite, take care.
I only ever lied to my parents once. I was about 17 and i burnt a hole in the carpet. I said it was cat puke.
either i mustve been really good, or else my parents didnt really care -- i always got away with it...heh
yes.. thats an option
LOL ....
,
right, focus on the grid.. or maybe cup of coffee/tea..
LOL Eva
Grid? What grid? I STILL have 57 left....***sigh***
ooooo cup of teaaa :)
These days Sprite i just don't tell them what the don't need to hear. I am sure they wanted to return me at some stage during my teens (always told them that i had a 30 day guarentee)
FMitch, my treat any preference ... will put kettle on..
*raises hand for a cuppa*
Ok Eva and everyone taking orders now... !
Lovley thought elder. I have just found another species of dolphin in the grid, you live and lear! The do6/24.
be back soon
*busily searches for aquatic mammal*
ill take something chai, if youve got it. :)
That's a dolphin????
Good lord, what deep dark cave did these words come from. Oy vey.
I assumed it had to do with lost cities of gold, and such.
According to the link its and yes thats what I thought too!
Well, I hope it and the inia will be good friends.
So long as that all, no cross sub species breeding!
ai 6?
pe's were harsh. DENSA prez for a reason. ***god bless Lickety***
And how funny to think that the lost city of gold is really called Dolphinville.
hi KJE
hello again herin - taking a little tea break : )
ai6/18 - more flowing with oxygen
Hello all - was upset the do6 a kind of dolphin - we regularly eat dorado here - but checked and it is a fish for eating - thank goodness have not being eating dolphin

Ok, selection...on tray... Assam, Earl Grey, Strong Twinnings, normal and fresh coffee, + shortbread, rich tea and cream cakes. take and enjoy !!
back :) One repentant girl. Grounded for the weekend because of not calling us to let us know where she was. Grounded for next week because of lying to us. I think she got the message.
night lady
Best wishes sprite
Byee Herin ..
thanks sweetie
Hidilly ho, neighbors. Ooh. My father grounded my brother "for life" once. Both my brother and I burst out laughing. I think he later dropped it down to a month.
hi Judi
lolol, that is great
Thanks elder, lovely bics
YW
Needless to say, Dad was really mad and got a little carried away on that one. My brother and I still laugh about it. I forgot what my brother did - but he did some pretty heinous things when he was a teen.
I sometimes tend to worry too much. People keep telling me our kids are great, have a firm foundation and will be fine. And then I look at the world with all the crime and drugs and sh*t and I think, omg....
hi folks - phone rang then friend popped over - now it's an hour and a half later and I have 28 words...
hi AsGreen
28 words IN that is - 84 to go
Be glad you're not a yank, sprite. (Most) kids seem to be out of control here these days.
your turn asg
once, my brother fell asleep with gum in his mouth + woke up with gum in his hair.... my mother punished him by saying he couldnt chew gum again until he was 35.
i guess, technically, hes still grounded!
oooh, ok, I'll go look, then focus on grid
lol EvaN, lovely
Sprite, as a parent you can only do your best for your children and they will reward you in ways not always so obvious now.
Lol. That's pretty good, Eva. Although, gum in the hair seems to be punishment enough. My father would have made us walk around with it stuck there and not let us cut it out. Fortunately, never happened to us.
yeah, I guess, Judi. Still, kids are out of control here as well. I must trust my kids, I know, but it IS scary nowadays.
my father was very different.... he once grounded my bother + said he couldnt ride his bike for 2 weeks. a few days later he gets a call from a neighbor letting him know that my brother has an accident...he was ok, but at the hospital.....
oh dear, EvaN!
Test, then trust, Sprite. Best to make them earn it.
so dad goes to the hospital (as an aside, my mom was in the bed next to my brother because she saw blood + passed out) when my dad asked my brother what happened, he said "i was riding johns boke + i hit something in the street and fell off + had to get stitches in my chin!" of course, my dad says "aret you grounded? youre not allowed to ride your bike!"
good one, Judi. Thanks.
and of course, my brother points out very quickly that he wasnt riding his bike -- he was riding JOHNS bike!
*headdesk* How did this go over with your father?
omg EvaN... hilarious, in a way. Was you dad mad?
LOL eva!
my dad, being the kind of person that he was said "well, i never said he couldnt ride johns bike!"
Ah, the old bike loophole. Clever, albeit painful.
Eva, i think most of us have done that in some form or another, when little and trying to blow bubble gum bubbles i covered nearly my whole head of hair, no punishment from Mother it was enough, when she then tried to get it all out of hair ,eventually needing to cut bits of hair off... horrendous ..
LMAO
i think dad pretty much figured that stitched (and the wrath that would accompany my mothers return to consciousness) was punishment enough.... heh
My dad had a habit of hiding his illicit gum behind his ear ... Then once he forgot about it and went off to camp with it still there... and came back with a big infection behind his ear. Ewww.
EWIE.
Apparently youthful gum episodes are just too horrifying for this chat! lol
argh Vic! Ewwww!
guess everyone was dumbfounded by that one!
I was just contemplating how gluey the gum must ahve been to stick there
Anyway, I'm off to admire my enormous poppies that have just sprung open today. Back later! =D
enjoy, Vic
Byee Vi
Byee Vi
ok, I keep seeing trophee and adieu. Driving me mad.
Have a good one Vic
Byee Vic,
bye vi - no smokin' the poppies, now!
kj - ugh, your turn
Sprite.. don't look !
sprite, i keep seeing those as well!
*closes eyes and starts typing blindly*
ok, 29 in, no list, one more, then list!
ugly tiles asg - not liking the chances
down to 66 and not finding this an easy grid at all.
With todays grid sprite that will probably be very effective :)
ok, list here I come!!
*joining sprite*
lol kje and FMitch
Eeeuuuuwww. My 4th grade teacher would make us wear our gum on our nose if we were caught chewing in class. Only a few fell victim to that one.
also adagio, for some reason. And yes, I realise the G is almost useless up there in that corner.
Hey, Vic... don't let the Taliban see those poppies.
um, list not helping!
Nowadays - more likely, that they would take that to the court of human rights !
The p's are most perplexing today.
I think the court of poppy rights wants to have a say as well
aarrgh is almost there as well
ooooh, pe**winkle is in the grid!
and da4
Hello, back from breakfast, shower, cleaning and rearranging furniture
Good day everyone! Do we have a good grid today?

Speed of lightning, roar of thunder Fighting all who rob or plunder Underdog. Underdog! When in this world the headlines read Of those whose hearts are filled with greed Who rob and steal from those who need To right this wrong with blinding speed Goes Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! There's a small German town near Munich called Pfilzerplatz, and the town is renowned for producing fine stationery. Anyway, Munich had a problem -- the thousands of stray dogs in the city were breeding with one another and overrunning the city. So the people of Munich banded together and ran the dogs out of the city. Unfortunately, the dogs appeared in Pfilzerplatz. The dogs took over everything, and the mayor decided to evacuate the town. The paper mills were shut down, and everyone left. But a couple days later, the townsfolk, watching their town from the hills, saw smoke rising from the smokestacks. They knew no humans were left in the town, so they concluded that the dogs had learned to operate the factories. The mayor hurried to Munich's town hall and pleaded, "You've got to help us! The mills are alive with the hounds of Munich!"

Hello Vi, how were your poppies?
I knit, knit, knit, knit and knit. Sometimes I also crochet.
done
congrats ruru
Magnificent, FM. They light up the world. They also clash horribly with the giant allium that were supposed to be darker and bluer than they've turned out to be.
congrats ruru
what a tough grid..
got to go to work.. good luck all
Yay for rururocks!
There are many Babblers that knit ajv so you are in good company. Oh Vi I love those giant alliums too. Red poppies?
The normal orange-ish red poppies, yes. But the finest I've ever had.
My Mom is growing shocking big pink poppies this year from some seeds a friend gave me.
The kids love the alliums, too. They are intrinsically fun.
15 left going to the list
I'm afraid I am generally anti-pink. =)
Glad I am typing poppies w/o any sp mistakes lol
Always good (if unusual?) to be able to type what one means.
Almost all my roses survived the winter.
That is good ajv did you have to give them much protection?
You must be an awfully cold zone, ajv.
I live in southwestern Finland, this is quite a good place for roses etc. But winter protection is needed and much.
Helsinki is not much further north than Stockholm so your summers should be quite good?
Yes, they are. Sometimes it rains pretty often, but it's not that bad.
(Ah, southwest Finland looks like zone 5. That isn't bad.)
fireworks, see everyone tomorrow
Yay for pabtrek!
Ohh pretty fireworks pab, congrats!
My fireworks is 40 words away...
A babble story: Once upon a time two ac5 fell into a vat of ur4 ac4 causing quite an up6. The od4 was ho6. For a pe6 of time, we ca4’ed about the di4 event, although it could have been di5. One of the ac6 mites was a real do4, some would say, with ar5, the other was a dr4. The smell was ri4, and got ri5 as more time elapsed. Somethin had to be done or a ri4 would break out. Pe8 ca4 of the building and surrounding ra5 to keep it pu4 would pr4 us to turn off the ra5, get the cleaner material we would ho5, put it in a ca7, and da4 around like maniacs cleaning the place and making it pu5. We were located in an ar4 pr7. There were ci5 clouds overhead. The ro4 of automobiles on the nearby ro4 was an au5 blast causing to6 if one were an id5 and were to tr4 outside. The winds were to6 and pr5 to going out, we would put in earplugs to prevent the au5 ra4 of noise. The day of the accident, there was an ar4 playing on the ra5. Jim, a chronic ca6, was eating a ca6. A to4 hopped by chasing the mites and caused the accident.
Well thats dedication (and fun) Knight!
*hard at work decoding the words I'm missing!*
A studious hush falls over the log as Knights work digested.
that was sort of brilliant

LOL Knight but it has brought renewed vigor to the flagging babblers
Hello, Babblers!
It got me over the 50/50 mark :P
Hello, Tim.
Oops, logged in as wrong person. brb!
WHo will tim turn out to be?
*Tim is merely a clever disguise?)
Hello, Babblers!
hi Jel
Is it really Geroge, looking for Haz?
Ahh hence the beard!
Jellen, are you really Tim, or is Tim Really you?
Tim and I were Babbling together earlier...
My question exactly!
In MO or in OK?
In Oklahoma
We are really us, Vicuna!
LOL Babbling together, I trust there was a chaperone in attendance?
I have seen Oklahoma in a summer theatre.
And is Tim a new Babble addict inveigled into this den of misery by you?
Do the cats count as chaperones?
either that or she has been assimilated by the Borg
Yes, Tim is a new addict.
Depends. Will the cats step in if you enter too many inappropriate words?
I see that he's a new addict. The question is whether you are the one who addicted him.
BRB
lol, Vicuna. Only one of my cats can read.
Oh, yeah, I got him addicted, all right!
lol
I youse - I need a pe8. I have the one that might refer to a monthly occurrence

Hi, Jean
Hi lex
hi Jell
I don't have the second pe8 yet, although I understand it's close to the first.
are you sure it's only the last letter?
only last letter. i have it too
you could only change the last letter to a vowel
Yes def only the last letter
Esprit - this is babble suspend normality
That ain't so, Jean. Keep looking! =)
ok, I got it
Well, I'll be. It is. Thanks, FMitch!
woulda got it sooner if it wasn't a stooopid word!

Question from newbie: is it just my imagination or do these get harder as the week progresses?
your imagination ;)
Hi Norina, no we are just having a few toughies at the moment.
I think the difficulty level is pretty random.
wowie. NO KIDDING
so I shouldn't start this one/?!
hi, anyone have a hint/clue for the first pr7/32?
You'll probably nod off in the middle of it, depending where you are at with jet lag.
I am trying to do it at work and am distracted by the fear of someone walking up behind me, so really, go ahead. it will be easier for you!
I think this one is actually killing my brain cells with how hard it is
SAme one I'm looking for, bichon.
I've just had a nap. well, a nap interrupted every 30 seonds by a furbrat announcing their presence
Hi, bichon. I'm at that spot, too!
pr7/32 - big open grasslands in the States?

2nd pr is "before a fight" 2 words
or before ri4/4
Hi cait welcome back
Hey, Cailtyn
Good evening all. I'm back as well.
Hey there Haz.
my cup runneth over!
HAZ! CAIT!
Oh look. And so is Atalante!
Hi Haz when did you come back?
Welcome back Ata!1
Well, I said I'm back from being away from babble for a few hours. I've been back from Poland for a while.
afternoon all!
Eva!
Hi Eva !!
thanks for the pr 7
Hi Haz and caitlyn and Eva
Hello EvaN.
how is everyone?
Lovely. Or so my hubby says.
Good time cait?
I was on a bit earlier in the afternoon but made a strategic retreat. I'll have to wind back to see what I missed.
how's spangle? I picked up Hobbit earlier from the spaniel kennels and saw soooo many gorgeous springers
Hi guys, I'm missing a 7, got pe7x2, pi7x2, pr7, up7 & ca7?
i was hiding in the shadows this morning... there seemed to be some...tension in the chatlog...
Im very proud of myself 6 hours plus without a ciggie because of flying and I only killed 2 air hostesses!
Spangle is very well.
Hi Ishult!
Only 2? The pilot escaped injury I hope.
Hi Ishult
There are three pe7
Tension in the Chatlog. That would be a good title for a book, or a play....
Good going cait did you light up at the earliest opportunity after landing?
Might be an understatement though.
I had to leave him alone Im nervous enough of flying LOL
Ishult, is that a picture of your kibbutz. Where exactly is it?
Oh yes FM
ive got pe7/55x2
Hello Uniquity! Still in one piece?
Can anyone say what the tension was about?
bichon, yes it is.....its in the south near Eilat
Hi Uni, how are you?
Hmm...a question to any smokers on here. Not knowing someone (ie - a babbler) does it sort ofwork it's way into your head subconsciously that "must be" or aren't smokers? As a non-smoker I always assume others don't smoke as well, wondered if it worked in reverse too.
pe7/40. pe7/36x2
Hi, Uni
I haven't read back yet but I made my strategic withdrawal for the usual reason, cait.
i have the Pi7 that kind a sounds like a dessert gone bad -- whats the other?
It's pe8/55x2
it's the pe7/40 that I'm missing?
That was missing a word or two...Hi all, I am well. Dr's appt in 2 hours, boooring. (Regular stuff, no worries).
That's the first pe.
I don't think that it does...i.e. I don't assume that someone is a smoker
I'd try and answer that question Uni but I can't make it make sense
Oh come on, Uniquity. You might at least have some interesting ailment.
LOL FM I was just thinking the same
uniiiiiiiiiiiii
I know FM...the little chatterbox space is not big enough for me to see what I wrote and make sure it makes sense :(
pe7/40 - latin through, opposite of alkaline
There is only one pi7
what she meant was - do smokers automatically assume everyone smokes. like non-smokers always assume they are "talking" to non-smokers
I think
Well, if it would make you feel better Haz I could turn out to have cancer, but I wouldn't be impressed.
When did you get home Ata?
got it, still 32 words to find tho
No, I said interesting. Like when Atalante had to have a blob removed from her back and I thought she said she was having a boob removed from her back.
Ata is my mouthpiece from now on. She makes more sense.
lol
Uni...no I don't assume other people smoke. In fact, most of the time when I find out someone smokes, it comes as a surprise to me that THEY smoke.
Ahh, answering Atas interpretation no you don't assume everyone smokes but you can tell if you are face to face and as a non smoker you can smell face to face.
THAT would have been interesting.
Not at all as a smoker Im more aware of non smokers and assume that they dont like my bad habit
flying must have knocked some sense into me
Hi hurshy
re 5/12?
Oh dear Ata, we can have that, you might get all serious on us. Hi hurshy
Well, here's hoping that terra firma will knock that sense right out again.
re5/12 - not the real deal. Would not go down well on Antiques Roadshow.
Hi, hurshy
i assume people don't smoke or drink or do drugs or swear, that they are not overweight and that they are my age...
So it is universal. We all assume others don't smoke. I wonder what other things this might apply to..*ponders implications*.
ok, so that gives me CA7, PE7 x3, Pi7, PR7 whats my last 7?
I hope so
hi hurshy dear!
You can only assume if you don't see the person, though? Are we talking cyber-assumptions?
oh lookee all the 7 help!
haz, sorry, don't get it?
yes i was talking babble cyber-assumptions
its an up7 EvaN
re + not amateur
up7 - what I do with eggs and useful things.
oh, wait, i have UP7
re5 -before+ opp of amatuer
bichon - re plus the opposite of amateur.
CA7, PE7 x3, Pi7, PR7, UP7 -- im missing one 7
oh, doh! thanks
I guess babble ate that post too. Things I write aren't showing up...Silly babble.
i have the up7, but what are the other u's?
sorry - not before! Oy!
up6 din, chaotic loud noise
up6/24 and ur4/6
ur4
up7, up6, ur4.

pr7x2 Eva
HAven't seen movieman today, he must be nursing his wounds after the game last night
There are two pr7
ok, cool. i have the "before a fight" one...
got 'em, thanks Hurshy
One associated with a little house, the other being the hour when the cocktail waiters prepare Molotov cocktails.
Has there been some big grids in the last week?
the ur4 is an acid related to renal function
The first is pr7/32, the second, pr7/32 also.
over 300 yesterday
but mostly little
Yesterday's wsa a monster.
Oh dear, thats Sharon off to the PB
There was a 310 yesterday. It was not popular among some elements.
hey earlene
310 yesterday, but otherwise smallish. You've been away, Cait?
got all the 7s -- thanks all!
I've got that sinking feeling.
little house? cottage? pr5y?
Yes Uni I have been to Cyprus
so, have i heard rumors of a PE8?
What do you do with eggs, Haz? (We have 250 hens.)
pr7/32 - Laura Ingells Thingy
oh Little House!
Ajv - Deviled eggs! Do it! Do it!
pe8 (twice) - the sort of table you use from time to time, especially in science. pe8 the second moves one along in the alphabet for the last letter.
yes i have the pe8 table
!!!!!!!!!!!!uria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow ajv!
250 hens? Gosh, pavlova city.
Cheese omlettes ajv
kj - ya there?
Cait - Have fun while away? You missed lots, yet nothing here. :)
soufflees
sell them! money money money
I have great recipes for baked egg casseroles and things that you make the night before....yum
250 hens sounds like a yummy Chicken crepe!
Uni nothing but sun, swimming, booze and rest, hard work all that relaxation
Lol...sun, swimming, rest sound good!
Sounds tough cait but someone had to do it? *grin*
finished, anyone need a clue or two?
ok, so i have EU8 and PE8 -- whats the other 8?
lol sammy's momo
i don't know but I want a clue for the pe 8 if you feel like sharing
But what do eggs have to do with that up-word...?
There are two pe8 - they differ only in the last letter. Move one along in the alphabet.
Congrats Bichon..feels better once it's done, doesn't it?
Congrats bichon!!
okay, but I could use a clue for either one, actually
Congrats bichon
Both pe8 words build on the full stop pe6/24
Congrats, bichon! I'd need 27 good clues...
thanks haz! thats all my biggies!
Well done EvaN. You're on the home straight.
full stop?
back again
We say full stop at the end of a sentence. Americans use this term.
Hi lex
Congrats, bichon!!!
Hi lex!
wait there's an eu8?
and i've GOT it, thank you!! Learning slang at the same time
gracias
Or think of it as being a length of time (pe6)
Oh Haz quick q, who was fired last night?
Slang?
Raef. I'm still in mourning.
That slimy Michael escaped again.
down to 45
Oh I wondered if it was him from a news snippet. What a shame.
Oh he has gone, who is left now?
full stop was slang to me
It was a shame.
3 left. Leaving them for when Tim wakes up.
No, full stop is not slang, it's just different terminology.
Still going in the Apprentice are, Claire, Lucinda, Helene, yucky Michael, Alex and the one who doesn't know how to shave or speak.
Awe thats love Jellen :)
Lee.
Yes, it is, FMitch.
Bet Michael wins then
The person you hate always wins reality shows.
If he wins, I'll...... write a letter of complaint to Sir Alan. Then he'll be sorry.
Thanks Haz I will try and get the ones I missed
He'll be REALLY sorry if he has to work with that snake in the grass.
How wonderful Jellen *soppy grin*
He will! Especially after you bring up your intimate encounter with the royal family.
But he's hopeless - and every one who has been fired hates him.
last ar 5/12?
I'm the one with the soppy grin, FMitch. So silly!
He claimed on his CV to be 'a good Jewish boy' (because Sir Alan is Jewish) but didn't have a clue what kosher food meant.
ar + robot ending, kje.
Raef went?! WAH!
TY uni - was looking at the otheR ^%#$@! Ar : )
I know! But he was magnanimous in defeat, and beautifully groomed.
Ah Atas awake again.
Are we fighting against jet lag. Ata?
ca6/30? after the orange veggie?
lol sorry, silverclaw keeps distracting me
LIKE SPANISH FOR CITY - EXCEPT CHANGE 2ND VOWEL
ca6 - ca, a vowel, then affectionate paternal term
sorry about the caps
change 1st vowel actually - sorry for screwing all that up - LOL
No need to shout, kje. =)
lol and hello kje
*going to corner for a bit*
Hi, kje!
hello all
LOL and hi kje
so how what why, Haz? What did poor Raef do to be fired?
Basically he was given the poisoned chalice of being Project Manager.
Speaking of corners and cubby's, might I have a word with you hazel, regarding the increased temperatur levels in the cubby with the changing season.
Got it. thanks.
They had to develop a brand and ad campaign for tissues. He and Michael set to working out a beautiful TV ad which basically failed to point out that you were supposed to buy the brand of tissues.
Oooh, a poisoned chalice! You Brits know how to do TV!
poor boy. and did he mess up horribly?
Oh, George. Is the fan not working properly/
25 left...all 4s. Think I'll take a break...Laer!
Oh Gorge I didnt know you were still locked away
and michael STILL managed to creep away unscathed?
They messed up in that they had Sian Lloyd playing a mother to a little boy (why?) and failed to include any shots of the tissues.
George!!
Michael is a creep, full stop (or pe6)
It's quite warm, and I don't like to complain, but the fan is inadequate to the task of cooling me off.
Well, if you will keep that laptop going, George, what can you expect?
Stop daydreaming about Haz George and you might cool down a little!
Hello caitlyn. To be with Hazel, it's worth it, but hot is hot.
Haz go and get him a long cool drink and a fan
I may have to investigate other methods of cooling the cubby.
Tim's awake--bbs
BRB. (It's not that I'm cross with him, but really. this IS babble time)
Bye Jellen
Two dozen words still missing...
w...does babble outrank george?
Well, I just wanted to plant the seed. I'll return to my script reading and await your response in the hot cubby.
Dont get too hot and bothered George
I wouldn't like to say. It might hurt George's feelings.
EvaN Haz is very dedicated to Babble
Or Dr-G's. You have to keep them both happy. Dr-G might boot me out.
Yes, dedication, not addiction. A mild attachment is how I like to think of babble.
I'll take off my shirt, maybe that will help. For now. Thank you Hazel, and good bye until later.
LOL
awwww hobbit's here for a cuddle
Bye George. If you're taking your shirt off, maybe I should just check on conditions.
Talk amongst yourselves.
I had better see what emails await..there were 39 unopened ,see you all tomorrow Haz be gentle with him today!! Bye
weird words in here - honestly, I don't think I've heard of probably a third of them
Can anyone clue me on the ca 6/30 please? Thank you in advance.
Bye caitlyn. Don't fall for anybody trying to trick you into thinking they're George.
ca6/30 - ca, a vowel, affectionate term for father.
look at 1:27 for ca clue
Bye cait good to see you back
Haz, thank you. You are amazing as usual.
Thank you, Nancy. That's what George says as well.
hey cait -
I am tutoring after school and am continually called away - silly students need help in Geometry and English... so if I don't answer you know why
silly me working during school hours
Time to put the kettle on back shortly.
did I scare everyone away...come back and play
I'm playing, but I have 10 to go and trying to get down and get back to work : )
funy Lexlee I'm serving lunch at school right now, finding words between classes
HS - how about you??
elementary
My men are sleeping. Hooray, quality time!
here they cmoe back in 10
5
clue for rh6?
rh6 -rh plus the word in the grid descriptive of a certain type of poem.
rh+o4
Or rh plus the ending of one of the pe8 words.
TY Haz!!!
Some of these words are hard to clue today.
You're welcome.
How about pe7/36
I'm not sure what to say, FMitch! I could get into trouble.
pe7/36 - first one ends in Spanish day, tacked onto pe4/5.
LOL
The second one ends in a polka spot
a German bar?
There could be painful times ahead.... for cluers and cluees.
why is that haz?
ty all! I"m lurking while I eat, but I'd never have found all these p's!
there may be trouble ahead ;a la la but while there's moon;light and babble and clues and hard words ...
Nein! The sort of spot associated with polka, more in terms of material.
a pretty gem, that polka spot one
Let's face the music and daaaaaaaaaaaance.
I faced the music and danced
good song ata *humming along*
Go Fred and Ginger!
My dalmatian was called Polka (Spangle's forerunner)
just kidding haz - I got the clue... : )
you had a dalmatian? we didn't know that!
thanks for those pe-s guys
I'm out again - back to the salt mines. Thanks all!
lurking and teaching - teaching and lurking - makes me a ...
*poof*
bye Kris
Ty, Haz! I've got all pe-s!
It's hard to know sometimes, kje. I'm told I give obscure clues and some people just don't get beyond thinking 'huh?'
uno!
Yes, Polka was our bimbo dog, all looks no brains.
too bad for them haz
Go kje go
You stick with your unique style Haz
You can't please everybody I reckon.
Oh thats for sure and really shouldn't be attempted as madness will ensue.
Yes, and we value our sanity, don't we?
Can someone clue ar5-s...
Oh yes! well, I would do if I still had it.
ar 5 - love
ar5 - adds a vowel to the dry ar4/5 - it ends up with the robot ending. Also great love ar5/12
ar 5/12 = ar + robot ending
That's right. You've not had your sanity for a while.
fireworks!!! thanks for all the clues!
Speaking of madness, Ireland has been knocked out of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Yay kje!!!!
The semi-final judges didn't like a turkey singing. Are they showing taste at last?
Congratulaitons kje!
Congrats kje!!
thanks - will jet back to work now - see you all later
One has to query the validity of a singing turkey though
probably better than a lot of people in the charts now
They thought they were being clever.
kj - I should have KNOWN you'd own a jet
Or maybe they just didn't want to win. Staging the contest in Ireland for years on end nearly crippled RTE.
lol but that makes more sense
help on the ca 6/21 and 6/36
more likely
ca6/21 - orange root veg
DONE!
Congrats Jellen or is that Tim?
Both of us!
thanks Mitch....don't know why I didn't see that.
Double yay then.
Well done Jellen!
Double thank you!
So I wonder what tomorrows grid will be like, bigger or smaller, what do we think?
bigger
and hoepfully friendly/easier
Did you sort all things with the publisher in the end?
I think it will be HUGE.
And it will be so easy that children in the streets will be lining up to do it and laughing as they get fireworks.
and all clues will be understood immediately? or not needed at all?
Only the occasional clue will be needed and everyone will get them straightaway.
is this babblerheaven you're describing?
with no "HUH?"s
You've been at the cooking sherry again haven't you.
Yes, indeed. We're imagining tomorrow's grid, all shiny new.
HUH's will be replaced by AH!
No, I'm drunk on the eu8 of what might be.
and hurrays!
and the whole of babble will be bathed in a rosey glow
Fish will be off.
stinky rotting fish?
As in fish will not feature on the menu, rather than that the fish will smell bad.
No fishy smells in babble perfection.
sldkfjsldkfj this is the worst grid I have seen in months =/
but it's Friday, fish and chips
Unless it's of smoked salmon.
Then, meliae, you weren't here yesterday for the general feeling of *&£^%$ which many expressed.
yes I missed yesterdays, if it was worse than this one I am glad I did
IT was as bad but SO much bigger
how big was it?
umm 310 I think
ow
It has been erased from my memory already
hahahah I just found the ID 5/12 word which is exactly how I feel trying to solve this one
Hi meliae!
Swedish Eorovision song was soooooo Swedish...again.....
Hiyas Jell ((HUGS))
(((Hugs back)))
310 usually means you can sail through lots of normal words. Yesterday's grid came with a chisel.
just start at the A's and start cluing every word please........and thank you..........rofl
And I can't find au5/12 and 5/14...
meliae - that's exactly how some people like it.
hi, all. a much quicker qrid today than yesterday's.
au5/12 - au plus first letters of French for queen
Hi Angel
Hi Angel
ooo found the do 4/6 another good word description lol
au5/12 - au plus the first letters of the Lionheart King, or the produce of the paddy field.
I'd like to have a hank of Jamieson&Smith cobweb shetland wool some day
Is that the wool that can be used to make a shawl so fine it can slip through a wedding ring?
Yes, just that.
What a wonderful description
But it's literally that - I remember seeing a programme (years ago) about it, and they put the shawl through a wedding ring. It was amazing.
And thanks for au-s!
It's kind of the opposite of aran knitting, where you're trying to get as dense a pattern as possible.
I love also aran knitting. But I can't buy that cobweb yarn from Finland...
mm produces some wonderful pieces
I don't know if it is available easily here either, ajv.
I've found Jamieson&Smith webshop, but I don't like the id4 of buying from abroad with my hubby's VISA...
down to 30
i might get this done, yee hah
Could you use Paypal instead, ajv? I've never had any problems with it.
I must check that possibility. I didn't even think that option! Thanks!
I've used it with ebay and it's always worked fine - almost a second layer of security.
paypal rocks
Did you know that we are paid ambassadors for Paypal? But don't let that influence you..
oh you little fibber you!
Yes, I'm quite the spokesperson for Morewords and Paypal. I look for their cheques daily.
They keep telling me they're in the post.
George is probably hoarding them under the stairs.
Nice of him to pop in this evening btw.
That'll be it. Once these movie stars get money in sight there's no turning them.
It was nice, wasn't it? It kind of proves to all the doubters that he's real.
*snort* as Ata would say
Hi again! I have 20 minutes or so to stare at the grid uselessly, like I was doing earlier. How are you all?
are you saying I'm a warthog?
Or, ummm, both? It looks like...
Who, me? No, I just got here...
I didn't say that, here I go causing trouble again!
I was all excited when I saw there were only 112 words. Then I got to about 20 and ran out of words I was seeing. I knew I was in for a long day :P
Hi Money
Monkey even!
Nothing is uglier than a warthog. You are no warthog, Atalante.
That happened to me this morning, kpark.
Money is acceptable.
LOL
I think elephants are. Just
Naked mole rats are uglier than wart hogs. Just my two cents.
NEVER! Warthogs are the ugliest things ever. Elephants are beautiful.
he he he *giggle*
I agree about th eelephants. But warthogs are kind of cute. And have you SEEN a naked mole rat? Or a babirusa, for that matter?
My mind is closed, Monkey. Warthogs cannot be surpassed.
babirusa looks like it might be related to a warthog
They even look as though they should smell bad.
naked male rats are gorgeous
Just... Google... babirusa...
In images.
What about naked male mole rats?
Ata should that be naked males full stop
the pig in our local farm shop is the ugliest animal ever
I did Monkey, amazing tusks
Ata, you are right in taht such a bizarre miracle as teh naked mole rat has to be beaurtiful. In that way. Only.
why can't I find the or 4/4
Oh my lord, is that Ata Hari? A sight for sore I's. :)
Yeah, cool critter, huh?
Come, come, FMitch. George taking his shirt off was one thing, we can't talk about naked males. People might object.
Middle letter is doubled, Sharon. Then a vowel.
or4/4 - o, a double helping of a consonant, finish with a vowel
It's not a real word, of course.
Naked George? I miss all the good stuff.....
Yes Haz, sorry Haz.
pi 7? thanks Haz
naked mole rats are quite - unique. ugly but amazing!
LORI!
He was not naked. He took his shirt off.
I'll be good I promise.
Don't have it yet, sorry.
I havta' hang around more. i wouldn't have minded a glimpse... Ata Hari! Are you home yet, or satill stateside?
I be home :)
This is how rumours get started. Bare-chested Georges get turned into naked Georges and then we have to start hosing people down.
pi7 - a type of clown?
Yea Ata! I hope you enjoyed your trip, but it's nice to have you home again.
hi everyone, not liking this grid to much, at least i learned a new word for my back side, and before i get off my ca6 area can i have a clue for the di6-27 please
pi7 - begin with pi4/5 preceding and add a little decay
I;m so pleased to have my hobbit back. But I miss Oregon
Thanks, Haz!
di + **** indigestion
di6/27 - di plus a helping of the opposite of alkaline
thanks
I'm sure you're conflicted Ata. Nice to know you're home safe and sound though. Glad you had a good time.
But just think, Ata. You're home in nice time for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Hi guys, just popped in to let you know that my mum (Lindrickway) is doing well in case you missed the message I left earlier today
And the Chelsea Flower Show.
And Manchester United winning the.... oh, that's right, you support Chelsea, don't you?
Oh great! Thank you! Give her my best wishes and a hug!
wow, I never realised that Lin was your mother. What happened?
she had her surgery yesterday
tottenham lol. but i watched the match from JFK airport LOL
I'm so glad she is doing good. thanks for the update and tell her we send kisses and hugs.
lol au5?
Am I the only person in babble to know that Lindrickway is kth's mum? I should set up a family tree business.
lol haz
kth - tell Lind we say hi - is she feeling ok?
I didn't know that.
which one, green?
yes haz, I had no idea
au + opposite of Mom?
Phone....
yea but you have a Rolladex system and it's all cross indexed.
the last au5/14
I printed her today's grid and lickety's clues so she can play babble in the hospital lol
yay!
yeah she's doing really well, they said she can go home tomorrow
Don't answer it Haz, it's a telemarketer!
au + ***hard (Lionheart King as someone else clued earlier)
au + ***e A Roni!
au5/14 - au+ the frist three letters of having a lot of money.
glad to hear this kth, was thinking of her earlier
or wealth.
I'm back.
I'm really happy I popped on just now. What good news.
thx LoriP! done w/au! omg 60 left
This grid was a grind for me. I sacrificed an already low reservoir of brain cells.......
But tomorrow is going to be a wonderful day in babble, Lori.
Oh you left some behind Lori when you went. I put them in a basket on the side for you.
We were discussing it earlier. A huge grid, but easy and few clues required.
a;s done....omg
Little pigs (not warthogs, for they are too ugly to feature) will fly around a fuller than full moon.
Thanks FM, because I really can't spare any. Yesterday and today took the DENSA thing to a whole new level
Yea As. go go go!
ok, gotta go....errands wa/kiddos, then din din at my parents - hubby's away (AGAIN) and they invited us over...so later taters - back for final 57 (omg) in awhile
I didn't mean go go go away! :-) Happy dining.
Bye!!!
See you later, As.
lol lori, tx...bye....if KJE pops on, tell her it's her turn! :)
I'll havta' rethink that cheer, and come up with something new.
if someone wants to throw the last 57 into my list that would be great....*poof
Mush! Mush! Mush! No, that doesn't work.....
What's it worth, As?
We accept Paypal, Visa, all forms of cheque.
Rolled coins, travellers cheques, precious gems.
and of course kruger rands
(another plug for Paypal, do you think they noticed?0
ar 5/ 12? I have the one that means passion
ar + robot ending
Shameless yet effective Haz.
ar5/12 - put another vowel right in the midle of the dry ar4/5 preceding
Thank you Lori. Effective is the key.
Clue the ur?
We do not accept used gum. Not after Vicuna's story, this afternoon.
Fireworks for me!
ur4 - relating to liquid waste. Crystals of this ac4 lead to gout.
Yay!
Congratulations Bzzn.
u + ***hard (lionheart king again)
Congrats Bzz!!!! Nice job
hello all
ewwwwww
Congrats Bea
Congrats!
God bless that Lionheart King.
not getting that haz
there is a rumor that there is a eu8 is that true ? if so may I have a clue please
vowel in the middle?
Was the ewwwww for the used gum or for the gout?
no eu8
Well, multiple eyes are yet again staring at me, then at the stove, me, stove, me, stove. I think they're trying to tell me something.....
oh, sorry!!!
Thanks!
both
Got to go. Have fun!
eu8---extreme ec
ar4/5 means dry. Make the ar5 by putting in another vowel in the middle. You end up with a robot ending
If you're in a state of eu8, you're ecstatic, extremely happy
extereme bliss
Time to cook, Lori?
So they say, without using any words. Have a great evening everyone!
Bye Lori - good to see you again.
thanks for the eu8, what do the other 8's start with please
Bye Lori
There are two pe8/55 -
2 pe8's peri

bye fm
Guess who was searching cobweb yarns...
Okay, Fmitch - see you tomorrow for the most wonderful grid yet devised.
How much do we get if we guess correctly? Any joy?
((Ata)) look forward to catching up. Haz I will dream happy grids and keep my fingers crossed.
Sleep well!
eu6 anyone?
Yowsa, found a pe8 by myself, the one that builds off of the pe6 (that comes at the end of a sentence)
eu6/24 - eu, plus the start of Mr van Winkle, finish with a vowel
Peri - the next one is the same, save for the last letter, it's just one along in the alphabet from the first.
ty! Now that's a strange word
The first shop didn't accept PayPal. Must do more searching later.
And well done!
I'm sure you'll get something in the end, ajv.
thanks Haz, new word for me

You're welcome, pe4/4
Haz, have you seen GC lately?
I still miss that bloody and evil up7...
pe4/5 that should be (for peri!)
I knew that you meant me Haz :-)
Yes, peri, he was on earlier in the chat. He's finding the cupboard a little uncomfortable now that summers coming in.
I would guess so Haz, you must then find other accomodations
up7 - up plus what you do when you store excessive amounts of something.
back
But there's the rub, peri. Where do I put him that is as safe and secure as my cupboard under the stairs?
thanks Haz for the up7
I suppose the garage is a possibility.
missing one 7
can't you just put a fan in?
would one of your neighbors be kind enough to take him in
You're welcome. It sounds like a dodgy word to me but who 's to argue with enable?
help with the pr7's, please
I could put a fan in, but I'm worried about his scripts blowing away.
I have one pr7 before outbreak of violence
that is a convern Haz
I don't know if the neighbours would be good to him. He's got used to me.
*concern* even
is there another pr7?
pr7--little house on the pr*****

any clues for the eu 6/24? I have the 8
eu + word meaning to tear + vowel...really weird one
I meant really weird word, BTW, not a really weird vowel : )
*rushes in to room, hugging everyone and passing out... chocolate!*
how bad is today's grid?
it is the plural of a word meaning a starit with really violent waters
*tossing chocolate at stid as fast as I can*
not lovely, but not heinous...kind hateful in parts
believe it or not, kje, I actually know that word, learned it in HS in a music course (of all things) where we had to compose ancient music using Phrygian scales or something like that and we used that word in the song!!
OMG JBV - that is ridiculous!!! LOL
thanks kje! I feel much better now!
can we hear the song? - remember any of it?
*steeling chocolate back*
speaking of which - does anyone else out there have a personal dictionary like the one in my head where words are associated with the time, place, person you first heard it from
hi stid...this grid isn't to bad, but it is making me feel like an id5/12 at times
hey dan! thanks. that is my second word...
depends on the word, JBV... LOL
sure, some words JBV
hi dan
it was my 79th...and came at just the right time, too
hi kje...how are you today?
(clearing my throat.. mi mi mi mi....) No sound from the birds/ No sound from the sea/ The hush of the wi-i-inds/Broods over Euripus...
good, thank you, and you?
*wow, that was formal*
how old were you JBV?
(words by Euripides) - you may ask how I remember this ?
pretty good so far...still have 8 couriers on the road, but they should be back in the next 3 hours. I might actually go home on time tonight!
only because I still have my 9th grade notebook in my piano bench!
down to 92...
woohoo dan!
smokin'!! stid
LOL good for you JBV! I have all kinds of ephemera, but it's all hidden away in boxes still. "someday" for getting shelves, cabinets and frames never seems to come
go dan go! (home on time, that is...)
*dives back into the grid
stid - that is some icon! looks like you need some space!
oops! sorry abour the splash!
point the toes next time dan
uh-oh I just realized I should be in the penalty box- no one said a word, sorry!
*grin* yes... I need to get my office cleared out again. We put the things that were being stored in the dining room in the office to make room for my grandmother's dining set... and, well, *sigh* you know.
well, it wasn't EXACTLY the word JBV
which chog post, JBV? *desperate for free words*
her song has a near eu 6 in it stid
4:13 stid
oh -- I see that one. No, I think that wasn't the word so no PB yet. BUT if you want to put the G in the chog, I will happily stock the PB for you *said hopefully*
hidey ho everyone!
hey peri!
ga + yo** way or the highway
ga 4/7 - I think it rhymes with flower
stid...ho6...the grid is not quite this bad
PB STID!!!
thanks! *hands chocolate directly to kje and JBV*
what word? I don't see it.
pretty purple flower, mama
I think she means my name which does not really count
oh! *blush* I hadn't seen that one yet. thanks for pointing it out. *takes back the chocolate and head to PB*
I thought that it was decided that if a person's name is in the grid, the one who says it does not have to go to PB
Why not? My name counted -- or was that when the rule change happened?
why? why? why taking back the chocolate!?!?!
hi pe..winkle (might be tough to remember this one)
and hello Kris, btw :-D
don't remember but I know someone said it recently,
hi Kris
Hi stidmama - I'm not really here. I'm supposed to be writing a report that I should have started last week
Hi dan
anyway people said my name earlier and did not go to PB
clues for the O words please
LOL Kris, sounds like me. But I decided to give myself a half hour break today, so I am sitting until the timer goes off.
stid wanted to go to PB - she's enjoying her chocolate and gawking at the cabana boy : )
found or4/4
much to the chagrin of my lucky dog
oi + spanish for day
i think the rule should be that you have to go to the penalty box for putting in words I already have, although I am willing to deal for words certain other people don't have, too ;-)
or + commercial
thanks kje
or + ** or die
oh, he's real??? I thought he was just my imagination *beckons to cabana boy* come here, me darlin'!
hi all
or + I **n a stop sign
thanks kje
thks kje - I only have words other people have clued :_
yw
don't get the stop sign clue
Well, not quite true. I foung a to6 by myself.
go kris go!
what words don't you have dan... I'm staring enviously at stid and her chocolate
58words left!
kje needs a ticket for not stopping at the line, purple-flowered-one!
what about the O's in the far left column
o + double consonant + vowel
*munch munch* oh, this cabana boy gives LOVELY massages...
found that one myself kje but thanks
sounds lovely stid
od + beginning of cold cubes
pw - do you have the smell?
od - smell
doh, thanks kje
sounds like you might be having eu8, stid
thanks Kris, I do now :-)
tx dan!
thanks dan! my first 8!
thanks just missing one of the O words now
wow. down to one o word and 61 assorted others.
found one of the pe8's myself, there are two of them and very similar except for the last letter
which peri - they were all clued
oi5? oi + day in spanish
oh. got to 6 and ho 6.
OOh - fun ones, eh stidmama?
and there's my timer going off. *sigh* thanks for that last O word dan! I'll be back later! *poof*
see ya stid
doing pretty well there, stid, considering cabana boy distractions and all
have 3/4 of the O in the 2nd column from left
3 or4's and 1 oi5 pw
missing an or4 then
Hi everyone... Hey, it won't take Horror?
hi all! I have 33 to go and haven't resorted to the list yet, but could I get a clue for the G?
ummm - that's cuz it doesn't exist in the grid... at least not in letter form
not enough rs in the right place
or + 30 second tv show to sell something; or + to ** list; or + egyptian sun god
just found that one, dan, thanks
yes it does
ga + ** of the chaldeans
in the lower left
g - g*** gum in ice cream - not in Breyers, tho
Nana you cana only use a letter one time in a word
there is only one O
ugh. thank you. It must come in fishy flavors of ice cream too! ;-)
good to know kris : )
can't go back? I haven't played in a while *blush*
I thought it was not twice in a row
not twice in the same word nana
I've watched a lot of tv - breyer's commercials especially
this is a tough grid!
Aha... thanks for the clarification
oh - I thought maybe you had eaten a lot of icecream...
peru
That, too!
sorry...
; ) kris
OK, gotta run - good luck on getting home early, dan - and HAGD everyone
I learned something new today - if you insult your skin with an irritant (something you're allergic to), it's likely to show up on your eyelid or neck first, even if the irritation started somewhere else.
not lking this grid, bbl
bye, kje!
I learned this at the dermatologist, where I went to find out why I look like a raccoon
does anyone have the pr 7/32 (the second one)??
before the huge fight JBV
pr 7 -- before the great commotion with people torching things on the street
thank you and I did not have that ri 4 - so double thanks
yw jbv
fireworks - and thanks to all of you for your clues!!!
work awaits me . . . bbl! *poof*
yea jbv!
Congratulations JBV!!!
work awaits me, too, may bbl -- *poof*
see ya kris

It's a wide spot on the road about 45 minutes NW of Austin.
OK, do know where austin is : )
there are 4 on mapquest...what county are you in samantha?
gold, huh?
We're a former ranching community that has become a bedroom community. I'm in Williamson County, but only a hop skip and jump from the Burnet County line
austin is brazos county, no?
Austin is travis County
I'm in Austin
Austin is Travis Cty
Hiya near-neighbor!
bedroom community for autsin? wow - that's quite a commute I bet
your number 1 sam!
Travis county, that's right - thanks
where are you Samantha?
hooray - time for bad - its fireworks
oops meant bed
congrats kazz and gn
Not so much since they put the toll roads in; we can be in Austin in half an hour if we want to. Besides, we commute to Round Rock; we're all Dell employees here :)
yes, pretty close samantha - LOL - if we were in the NE, we wouldn't even be in the same state!
I'm in Liberty Hill, Rob. It's hill Country, out 29
sure. I'm in far south Austin
WOOHOO KAZZER!!! and sweet dreams
LOL kje. Yeah, people from other states sometimes have a hard time remembering how awfully big texas is
I'm in far north Williamson. And yet you're the nearest neighbor I have here :)
If robwhy and I carpooled out to El lPaso, we'd be closer to Los Angeles than we would be to Austin.
babble wise we are in the same hood
goodnight all
true - babble-wise, we are sugar borrowing close...have a cup, sam?
where are you kje?
For you, kje, a whole POUND if you want it

BTW, robwhy, did you know you can click on the icon and see someone's profile?
popping in and out...cooking pasta and trying to catch it al dente
last ofthe 7's: pi 7 clue please?
thanks again jess mom
Yours just says Texas, though, not Dallas. (Though if I lived in Dallas I wouldn't brag about it either. But if I lived in Houston I'd lie and say I lived in Dallas)
pi 7 - boat dock + what happens when something goes bad
LOL sam...
yw sharon
didn't realize it only said TX, oh well
sorry I went off so suddenly guys ! My stoopid puter kicked me off, and I had to reboot it again.
ty kje got it
7/32 pi is a three letter dessert, plus decay, with an extra r in the middle
aussieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
ty Sharon
kjeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee !! squeeeeeeeeee !!
ok, butr do you know the er 5/12? I've been fishing for a month it feels like
er 5/12 - girl's name

I didn't realize it was anything but a name (this proper) until today

wow, me either.
NW x 3 riles the NE and down - LOL
thanks KJE.
I'm pretty sure that broke all kinds of rules : )
2 left. the rh and the do 6/24
and I"m brain dead so I'mb egging
do6/24, El DO6 is Spanish place, or failed tv soap opera shown in UK in 1992.
rh + od 4/6
rh6 is rh + 4th vowel, 4th letter of alphabet + 3rd vowel + 3rd letter of alphabet
BRB
or, what kje said !! lol.....
ok, thanks aussie

Excuse me if i don't seem terribly friendly i got told last night to go away.
Hey Herin !! I did answer you..... honest injun !!

hi herin, sort of in and out of here tonight
hi all! & yes herin by who?
hey Pug, was the chicken delish ??
hi angelina!
PUGSTER!!!
Yes in babble land by someone that doesn't like me. But thats ok. I don't have to like everyone. Its mutual. I told them i ignore them and they ignore me.
HI Pug and AUssie
hi kje and pug
yupper! I'm now a fat & happy pug!
when do we get a new poem, pug?
ANd i think the term mountain out of a mole hill applies as im a tad sensitive at the moment
hello again kje! hi all!
when I stop feeling stressed & ornery!
herin - I am sorry that happened... their loss!
*ignoring mean people and smiling at the nice ones* {{lady}}
hi stid!
hi stiddy!!
hi all :)...hope I fall in the latter category stid!
that's terrible herin
hi stid and kaz
hi kaz
of course Kaz! *smiling very brightly at Kaz*
hi all
Stidddy
kje maybe if I get my bills done later & have any energy left I'll type out another pugetry ok?
yay :)
ca6/30 please
hi peri
great pug!!!
Kazz too. Thanks and hugs Stiddy.
is it just me or is this very pesky for a smallish grid?
<---------waved hi to herin
think spanish for city, but change first vowel to first vowel
hello peri who puts me in the PB *rushes for mound of chocolate left in there earlier*
Oh and Kthsdn was on last night. Her mum Linderick is doing as well as expected.
Pexky
NM
GOOD. thanks lady... I was a little worried when autumn said Mr. Lindy hadn't called yet.
ca6/30 ca + vowel + term for father
I found it to be a hateful little grid today!
herin, thanks for the update on lind
I think she goes home tomorrow - so maybe she'll be here
thanks jess found it before your clue using morewords.com
cool
halfway!!! *grabbing list immediately*
Hey Perie.
that is really quick turn-around, isn't it, kje? wow.
Excuse me while i argue with my pc
Mama !!!!! **kisses from Georgia who you will see in my icon pic today**
stid, they don't keep patients in hospital very long anymore
even after major surgery, if they cannot go home, they go to a skilled nursing facility
oh my word! she is so BIG!!!! *snuggles with georgia* WOW, she's growing so fast. You must be very proud.
hey peri !
wow - I lost you all for like 2 whole minutes!!! it was scary!!
yes, most of the people I know spend at least a couple days in a convalescent center learning how to manage their care before they go home.
thanks Mama..... she is really growing......
{{{kje, there there}}}
{{{{hugs the big scardy cat kje}}}}
unless there are complications, the usual LOS is 3 days
TY (((aussie))) - hopefully that won't happen again
Peri my neighbour had a baby private health she was there for a week. Also she is so lucky people are helping her
112 words 78 i've never heard of lol
lol...... I like the summary of todays grid Kazozz !!
shorter LOS are better for the most part - overall, hospitals are dangerous places to be, people are safer at home
very true kje
ok, need to go make my cup of tea !! brb... anyone want one ??
I don't like hospitals at all, went home very fast after the children were born.
*holds out pretty teacup for aussie to fill*
what kind aussie - yes, please
lemon and honey in mine lol
no milk like you brits do!!!
**takes pretty teacup, and pours.... am having lemon tea, anyone mind ??**
wow kazozz - lake tahoe!!! how beautiful!
question for Dr.KJE...... what can I do for an ulcer in my mouth ??
sounds nice
mmm. thanks aussie, it's perfetto! (that's italian for "luvely")
on gums or mucus membranes?
My mum had a hysterectomy and the only private (mums not private) room was in the maternity section. I was astounded at their stupidity
aaah, herin
Aussie you got bon jella? Or if you like pain warm salty water
di5/12 please
erm...... bottom of mouth, between lip and gum.....
more di 4 before
more so di4
don't have the di4
I do now and have the di5 too, thanks
peri, I am in di** need of a pee !
just rinse with antiseptic like listerine or peridex...and can use topical anesthetic like orajel or throat sprays if really painful, but should be gone in a few days
lol
lol, you got it as I typed it....
I went to dentist today..... and he said it would take about 14 days to go **6 monthly check-up, nothing wrong but the ulcer**
erk to dentist
LOL - he just doesn't want you to call him in a few days - mucous membranes heal very fast, and unless you are constantly irritating it, like playing with it with your tongue all the time, or drinking/eating a lot of acidic foods, you'll be better quicker than 2 weeks (you can hold me to that)
it was ok herin, I not afraid of the dentist man !!
ok gotta go back to work....hopefully i'll be back to find the last 30 words that i've never heard of lol!! TC all
bye kazazz!
hmmm, lemon tea not such a good idea then ??
still 34 words to find, not liking this grid, need another break, bbs
i dont have timeeeeeeee
see ya later Kazozz !
lemon in tea or lemon flavored herbal team (like lemon verbena)
sorry, had to step away a minute
I am eating baby fud
lemon flavoured herbal tea dear....
what I'm really talking about is constantly sucking on a soda (very acidic) or lemonade, etc - lemon tea should be fine
why herin, why ??
baby fud - yuck! (don't know what that is, but souds gross)
Ah - I see ! kje... thats ok then.... **goes back to drinking lemon tea**
what is baby fud pray tell?
baby fud *mashed sweet potatoes, pudding...*
evening all
Baby Food. No its really good its called Raffety's Garden.
hi thaz
hi thaz
but why, herin
hey thazzy!
It really is tasty. The catch of it is Raffetys Garden with a baby and his stuffed camel called Lumpy. Thus its Lumpy like the camel. WHy breakfast
http://www.raffertysgarden.com/
it actually doesn't sound too bady, lady!
Its really yummy its Banana and Blueberry Muesli. its a good size for me
oh, my head is tired and my neck is sore. And my back hurts... *sigh* I don't think I'll finish today.
prag
sounds like a good rest is in order stiddy!
gotta learn to switch boxes
cute website
hi friends
hi ping
stid - too early to just go lie down?
hi pingster!
As i am going to the gym soon i don't like to eat too much. The site is cute. I like Lumpy the Camel
Hi Ping
I think so, pugmama! only a few weeks left, then I am off for the summer. Which means, of course, that instead of working around other people's kids, I have to shepherd my own around for a couple months.
PING!!!!
hi pug, fern, and thazzy
Ping! (makes noise)
hi stid!!!!!
a smaller dose of stress anyhow stid
stid, i was thrill with your good news about the creative writing plan
hi kje!
is it me, or are the EP words especially obnoxious? *searches in dustbin for ep words*
I thought they were
have you started teaching or is it for next school year?
there are ep words???
3 of them thaz
i don't have any ep words
Stid do you teach?
e + f sound + what you do if you take too much heroin
nice clue, kje
e + f sound + either/**
back after flip need to go and stuff
exceedingly great icon, fern lady
we'll do it next week and the next, ping! (I am scared to death) -- I think if it works the way we are hoping, this may become a tradition. I am hoping so anyway.
I'm sorry I asked
(stupid itunes)
bye herin!
ep 6 - add vowel to that last ep 5
huggles
Not officially, lady. I am volunteering in several grade levels in a several schools this year. The "work" I do is unpaid, but important.
later lady!
have a good work out herin - TTFN
Thx Kje
stid, that is super! did you see that marcia and i did poetry with pearl's montessori class last month?
yw
ooh! got ALL the EP words! thanks :-D
ty for ep clues, kje
yw
eu?
yes, ping, I did! It looked like SO MUCH FUN! (but I am not brave enough for a room of preschoolers) I am really happy you did that.
we were nervous because the 2-6 year age range is massive
Eu 8 overwhelmingly happy feeling
but they had a lot of fun with it
ty thazzy
yes, it is -- so many different readiness levels (and energy levels)!
yw
yes, the eu8 is what I feel when the teaching works... ;-)
yes, me too
Hi Ping!!
back to find my last 34 words
Hi Peri!
go peri go!
do you get to do much actual teaching any more ping, or are you mostly doing administrative grunt work now? (I know directors/principals get paid more than teachers, but they aren't with kids as much)
eu 6 - eu + to tear or *** + vowel
ty kje
mostly administrative work (read: fundraising!)
my biggest mistake in life ever was taking a management course in college. I so hate the paperwork, the networking, etc. I am much happier when I work directly with people.
i'm rarely with the students
that's too bad, ping.
i try to find creative things to do, though - i've enjoyed learning about marketing, for example
also i like all the web and blog stuff
that's good -- you know there is a nonprofit marketing thingy through the google reader. They have had some great articles in the last few weeks.
yes, and of course parenting is highly creative and hands-on... LOL
there's also the satisfaction that if i do my job well, then more and more children will benefit from the program
LOL
we just had our big end-of-year readings last week - that's amazing and very gratifying, of course
true. I think that's a real trade-off in so many things. I was very sad, for example, when a stellar middle-school teacher became the principal at my kids' school. He is a good principal, and I have no doubt that his leadership is making a positive impact on the entire school, but he was SOOOO good with the kids!
oh, I hope that went well! I loved the video you posted from last year.
oh! did I mention that we will bind the kids' work (those who want to be included) and add it to the school library?
no - that's a wonderful way to end the project - the kids will be so proud of themselves
it also motivates them to do good revisions!
I hope so. At this age (12 -14 year olds in this class) they are so fragile and not confident in their abilities.
me too
*whew* down to 17, and all the 4-letter words are found. Now it's time to beg for clues.
going backwards... UP 6 please?
true - but when the adult responds positively to their unique perceptions, they perk up pretty quickly
hi hurshy
{{{hurshy}}} hello!
yes! a bit of gentle encouragement...
found the to 6/24 by myself! :-)
and the RH...
up6= stir, as in it caused quite an up**** (lion's noise)
hi y'all, i'm back
thanks, jellen
hey gwen!
thanks jellen!
hi gwen
Hi, all. I'm back too!
howdee stid
got it! :-D
want to take pity on the pr 7s?
also the pi 7. it's being pissful.
rh + od 4/6
I did what you suggested in facebook, jellen. did you warn him first?
oh! found the pi 7!
ooh, just found a pe8
pr7= Little House on the Pr*****
oh man... that flatland word is very fishy.
pr7= before the melee of the mob
ty jellen
i didn't find the pi7 stid... what is it?
thanks Jellen. I suppose they do have to plan those things, don't they?
stid - I started a scrabulous game with you
I think it's a sort of french character, I know of it as a china doll with particolored clothes and a mask...
pi7= a kind of clown, I believe
will you play with me too, kje?
pi 7 - boat dock + spoiled apple is ***ten
thanks kje
ah
sure. ping will play with you kje, but not me! hmph.
thanks
pi7= a male character in certain French pantomime, having a whitened face and wearing a loose, white, fancy costume.
now, i heard there were 3 pe7 so i guess that is all the rest of my 7's
okay, now I am trying to find a whole slew of big PE words.
remind me of your facebook name ping?
yes, three pe 7 -- one is a green gemstone, but I don't have the other two. And there are two pe 8...
stid, i didn't realize you played scrabble!
pe 7/40 - pe + hook + ac 4/6
TY Stid
pe 7/36 - previous 4 + spanish day
i play some other facebook game with you, though, and you usually have double the number of points as me!
LOL yes. I just don't play well...
ping's code name = robin
pe 7/36 next - green birth gem - previous 4 + polka***
thanks stid and kje
we play scramble. But that's just word recognition, not word generation. It's the act of calling up words that I struggle with...
pe 6/24 - .
PE 8/65 dot at end of sentence + vowel + Cons
pe8's build on the pe6
I don't have the pe 6... *waiting patiently*
both pe 8s are extensions of the pe 6s
pe 6/24 - .
pe 6/24 - "."
pe 6 = not a comma
come on!!! that was a good clue!!! LOL
*gasp* oh dear, I shall be eating fish for YEARS after that! rofl
LOL
got the last of the PE words now... *slinking off to sulk*
wouldn't it be funny if they used the synopsis of a move for its title?
"Genetically Engineered Dinos Run Amok on a Remote Island" - really has quite a ring to it
hurshy, they do that a lot, don't they?
i'll be back for my last 64 later - gotta go clean things!
it would be... peculiar hurshy, yes. and not unknown.
OK Ping! - started game with you too...
i don't know about a LOT... there's snakes on a plane, or course.
or GEDRA OARI for short?
thanks kje
hey all.... am back.... I see we had trolls here earlier !!

Hi, all!

I liked the comment, "someone left the gate open and they found their way upstairs". It was tres funny !
hey pam!
I feel like a real babbler now though - I have finally been part of a troll war - LOL

hi, lbd
hello
Pam - I was supposed to be only getting groceries. LOL. I did get a present for my Mum, one for my daughter and 2 for the cat as well as stuff for me. I really should have got my son a birthday present for 26th of May (his 24th) but he hasn't told me what he wants yet.
Goodbye stidmama! I will see you tomorrow in the log
bye kje!!
Hi, harp!
finian's and brigadoon, not great acting, although great actors, and love the music
same day as my smurf Jac, 26th of May.....
Hello Harp.
Goodbye kje! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log!
hi harp
Sounds terrif, Jac! I bought allergy meds and cat treats this evening, LOL
Hi harpjane! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
i bought some veggies. yum (not!)
hi, harp!
lbd - I love those two musicals, too. Brigadoon really fired my imagination as a child.
Fiddler on the Roof for me, and Oliver.....
The Sound of Music
West Side Story
Calamity Jane
love fiddler, sound of music, cats, oliver, showboat! now there's a classic
i like hair, finian's rainbow, and the buffy musical!! oh, and sweeney todd of course
Sweeny Todd
CABARET!!!!!
i haven't seen sweeney todd yet.
i've seen teh movie of cabaret twice and can't remember. does it have a plot?
i love the music to phantom, but the movie wasn't what i wanted it to be
Gwen - I bought the Hair CD a few months ago. I never had the album, as I used to borrow my friend's older sister's all those years ago.
yes it does
there are at least three musical versions of sweeney todd you can see. they're all good
what's the plot of cabaret, if you can summarize a bit?
lol book. i'm sure it does, but don't ask me what it is.
life in the cabaret?
dawg, that's a theme, not a plot. 8-)
it basically is the story of what was happening socially in Germany during the rise of the Nazi party
jacula, how'd you like hair?
i saw that a very very very long time ago... i think i liked it
Sally Bowles, an American singer in 1930s Berlin, falls in love with bi-sexual Brian. They are both then seduced by Max, a rich playboy. Sally becomes pregnant, and Brian offers to marry her... All the characters are linked by the Kit-Kat club, a nightspot where Sally sings. It is the city of Berlin in 1930, a time when political unrest racks the country, the economy has been destroyed, and millions of unemployed roam the streets. Enter into this chaos an American cabaret dancer, working at the downtown "Kit-Kat club" where anything goes on the stage. Into this young dancer's life come several characters such as a rich German politician, a young Jewish man struggling with his identity, an Englishman teacher from London, and of course the all-knowing, all-seeing Master of Ceremonies.
all i can see in my mind is joel grey and liza minnelli...money money money...
pug, i remember that much. but what specifically? details!
Typed that quick, didn't I? LOL
oh, then i think i did not understand it.
jacula, thanks. is that on wikipedia? (i looked there already!)
Gwen - I've never actually seen the musical (Hair) - I was too young when it came out.
I dont type fast enough to give the kind of summary Jacula just supplied!
i have a owie owie owie
whats wrong hursh ?
the play is diff from the movie (by quite a bit) but both are super
Gwen - Cabaret was from IMDb site.
hurshy, sounds like a Ruttles movie LOL
i managed to cut my finger on a cardboard box today
jacula -- oh duh i shoulda looked there
owie, hursh!
could someone clue the ai6?
I have a funny musical I love to watch now and again.... The Unsinkable Molly Brown.
owie Hursh !
more windy, harp
more full of what you breathe
more of the stuff we breathe, harp
ai6, having more inflatable-ness than another balloon
Molly Brown! that's a fun one to watch
Hursh - I sympathise. I skinned my knucke on a guinea pig hutch earlier and it bled like mad. Still have a plaster on it now.
thanks!
I think its hillarious lbd !
i hadn't seen that "more of" suffix at all, too many other things going on!
Paper cuts really, really hurt though!
ouch ouch!
this grid is killing me.
rub some chapstick on the papercut, it will help take the sting out as well as help the healing
Hello LadyNatts! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
hi minver!
Hursh - be sure not to handle citrus fruits, salt or vinegar until it's healed.
Hey Lady!
18 left! what a lovely grid this has been. Now I need a little help from my friends.
hi gramma, whatcha need?
hi lbdawg
it's right on my index finger so it hurts just to type
Hi, gramma.
Hi gramma! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
Not a good place to injure, Hursh, I agree.
whew, half way done....omg, what a tough one!
I could use a clue for the last PE8, please.
hiya, greenie
that's what I was just saying, asgreen!
au5/16?
Howdy do?, all.
Don't be tempted to try any of that paint-on plaster gluey stuff - it stings more than iodine.
I'm in the list, a-da done.... starting on di's....
au + your father
change the last letter of the other pe8
but I still have to get kiddos to bed - so I'll be in and out for a bit still
gramma change last letter of previous 8
thanks
au5/16 is au plus not your mom but your *** harpjane
au+ non mom
TY
Last pe8 = full stop (or monthly cycle for women) + a short way of identifying yourself.
jac, that's cus of the astringent in the liquid plaster.
I only tried it once, Lbd. That was enough!
OI? I don't see it.
I can't even get the ac's - besides the opposite of base
ac+ Mr. Onassis
gramma - oi + first 3 letters of dead UK princess's name.
ac5= a + auto + personal pronoun
Tya
ac6= adds a consonant
ah, that's got the 5, thank you.
ok, missing one d - the di6?
ac+ really really dry place...like a desert

I'm off to get kiddos down - bbs
Bye, harp

'Bye, harp.
All the finishers today have been filled with eu8/55.
is the eu6 related to the eu8 ?
Goodbye harpjane! I will see you tomorrow in the log
no, book
no, Gwen
Thanks for the eu.
yw, gramma!
eu6= eu + tear + personal pronoun
eu6=a strait, esp. one in which the flow of water is violent.
Gwen - No. It's like a continent but different vowels after the first 2. eu + tear apart + personal pronoun.
jac, tx
y/w, Gwen.
so, um ... um... oh, never mind
Excellent clues. TY
eu 6/24 is ur + smallest state abbreviation + *rivate *invstigator gramma.

damn - you didn't give me somewhere to lay down...
I have a silly question for you all.
whew
* Darn * . My time for the evening has expired before the puzzle did. Oh well. Maybe next time. Good night all.
yes Jellen?
peace, gwen :)
What's an alternative term for boyfriend? At 44, I feel sillly saying "my boyfriend, Tim".
and fireworks for me... found this a tough grid.
partner, jellen?
Yay LadyNatts!!!!
boy toy?
boytoy? chum?
(just kidding Jellen)
lol, AsG
lol asgreen
lol rae - beat ya!!
doh!!
well, candies wouldn't work...but this one did - LOL
husband, lol -- hi all
father of my future kids?
BF? hi jilli
night, gwen
Lol, jilli, not ready for that yet.
damn, getting paged - BRB
maybe just friend will work jelle
ok - I'll try and go meanwhile
hail the rare raelite!
*bows*
Jellen -- my lover? my friend? hunky Tim the bookworm?
bedman, then?
jellen, significant other?
lol, jilli!
Hi jilli! I'm just trying to get a remote job with rae when she becomes VP.
hi jilli
YAY ladyN btw
your boo
your man?
your boy?
Jell.. how about my love-muffin?
omg KJE, Stid, I surrender!! :) ***takes deep breath and goes off to find big words****
ty stid
Looking for some dignity here, ruru!
first pr7 clue please?
lol
stud muffin?
manfriend?
lil, little house on the pr7
"other half"?
sometimes i call my BF my "pony"
Plumber?
i am using it as a sample in a letter .... is the word money mo5,18 or mo5,16?
LOL
TY lbd :)
your pony?
no no, timnjoplin is too nice for silly monikers. I think he needs something dignified, befitting his stature as Jellen's SO...
yes lady
Pony is interesting...
like a one trick pony?
hi ruru
no no... I don't want to know.
foot warmer, cutie pie...
hey stid-ster
hey ruru
Lady, have you read Anne Rice's trilogy Sleeping Beauty????
but I think stud muffin is funny... (I used to call Tom my "stid muffin")
significant other is dignified.
FOOT WARMER! yes let's call it like it is
going now asg -
lol, stid
okay rae, took my turn
no, I don't believe I have, lil*
k
remote control handler
severl references to men as "ponies" in those books LOL
too funny, lbd.. (and too true)
rofl LBD
honey doer...unless he's my hubby, then it's honey don'ter
ruru, you're very silly tonight. Have you had too much sugar today? *offers plate of chicken curry*
whoops, LBD! sounds like your hubbydawg and my Tom would get along GREAT
significant other is too long and pompous. Sprite calls her hubber her Beloved.
Jellen, how about sugar daddy?
hi stiddy too
significant other sounds like a bad rock group
lol, stid...actually, hubby is pretty good at most things, just as long as it's his idea...and it doesn't have anything to do with plumbing
Mmmm...just had a snack of chicken with mango chutney (guess who cooked?)
oooh, I know, your pimp
*grin* "hello Mother and Father, this is Tim, my sugar daddy"
perhaps just "other" then
your love muffin?
only 4 letters this time asg
well, you could call him your "chef" and in french it's chief and it's true and different
I used to call Steve "the wallet" - he HATED that :)
how about the mango I tango with?
good one ruru
but why should a he be the chief?
uhm, you could just call him Tim
know I'm coming in late, but what's wrong with boyfriend?
LOL AsG!!!
hello jilleroo!
oooh, mango - my mom gave me one tonight to bring home.....brb - it's in my purse
I think "the chief" gives him the impression he's in charge, but in reality... *wink wink nudge nudge*
ir 6,24 ???
hi jilli, and ruru and everyone else that popped in while I was gone
well, we are MATURE kje... "boy" friend seems a little young.
*mango is rescued*
ir4.5 + frozen water w/o last letter, marilyn
ir 6/24: having the quality of the ir 4/5?
ir4/5 + most of frozen water
nah, I like boy toy.... ok, I'm off to scrabble brb
kje, some thought it sounded immature. Manfriend?
glad to hear mango is not mangled.
snap, jellen
The brits say Toyboy
at 44 or more, he's not likely to be a "boy"
BTW, I got halfway last night and have had no time today
I like manfriend...but I am strange
guess it also depends on to whom you are introducing him
how about, this is tim...no explanation - let their imaginations run wild
I took my turn stid
LN - they're always boys ...
Thank you for all the interesting suggestions...
hunny bunny if you want to embarrass him
exactly, Natts. But if not ready for "husband", what?
thanks rae brb
kej...Tim (with a wink and a smirk!)
what about "my tim"?
My Tim has a nice ring to it...
Oh, I have my husband, jilli... (2nd) ... but I was just helping out with an alternate for "boyfriend" for our 44-y-o babble friend.
I still like boy friend - age be damned
special friend?
ty for the ir 6 ....
I think any other term you come up with, while possibly amusing, is just more awkward the BF because it just draws more attention to it - most people, of whatever age say BF
my 9 year old patients say boyfriend - they would laugh at us - LOL
90...not 9!!!
True enough, kje!
Obviously a new term is needed for this uncommitted relationship. My grandson (29) lives with his "girlfirend" (also 29, a few weeks older than he is). They celebrate their "anniversary". "Of what?" I ask, because they're not married. "Of hooking up" is the reply. Desperately seeking new terminology.
hooking up sounds like a cable connection
Toyboy is intriguing, though. He is younger than me...
or something you do with sheep...oh wait that's crooking up...
omg kje, I have the worst letters....brb
yes, I refer to "my Tom" -- and it's true Jill -- with new standards and situations we need new terms!
I totally set rae up for a BIGGIE. *sigh*
What better group to come up with new terms than the Babblers?
hee hee hee
i called my hubby chief, but that's cuz of his rating in the navy.
Ahh -- just thought of "Livemate" (in the sense of living together)...
your turn stid
ooh. you married a SAILOR? I guess you were the "homeport" gal then? *grin*
set me up, too, stid!!!
No cracks about Deadmate, please
okay kje. I am totally getting trounced in all my games at the moment.
p3 7.36 ??/ x2
actually stid, we met in the navy. i was a sailor in a training school when we met
ooh how romantic!
cool dawg - tell us more! how did you meet?
I married a sailor too, but he stayed in the home port (mostly) and changed professions post WW2 (became an insurance broker)
yeah, and when i got my bars for officer, he became my chief.
oh man, LBD!!! that is SO COOL! so does he call you "commodore?"
sounds like Popeye the Insurance man...
my dad was navy - air traffic controller and navigator
Jill -- was he that much older than you?
ruru - how was your trip to SF?
there have always been long-term just dating boy/girlfriends [e.g. my old roommate; who had every right to wear white after 9 years of dating] who celebrate their anniversary of 1st date
no way! I told him when he asked me to marry him that he had to chose, the navy or me...i was not going to be a westpac widow
good... surgery on Wednesday
good for you again!!!!
surgery? ruru? are you ill????
no...no. I am okay ... it is my significant other
Surgery? Hope everything's okay, ruru!
ok, I went kje....and stid, um, trounced? you are TROUNCING me!
he did his twenty and retired and then went to college.
SO - LOL
am I? I thought you were ahead!
asg - if you played a T I can use...I will have another bingo
it all depends on the letters you get...
hope all will be okay, ruru
ouch Rae! *stinging from massive slam I just received in scrabulous*
hope it all goes well ruru - and glad somethiing is finally happening
I am okay Jellen.. got to go feed the doggies..bbl.. I think we are going to be okay lbd, but we won't know more until after the surgery
oh please - you'll bounce back!
oh ruru, hope your RO will be feeling good soon.
you will both be in my t's and p's ruru
Later, ruru
has anyone heard from Lind?
ruru, I hope all goes well, then we can call the S.O. names - like, um, Wallet, etc.
your turn asg
Her daughter was on earlier--everything went well and she'll be coming home tomorrow, I think.
dawg, Lind's daughter was on earlier - ....nm, Jellen beat me
ah. nrkii just started a new game. She REALLY trounced me on that last one (twice as many points)
ouch stid
yowza
sounds like what kje is doing to me....
I need to go to beeeeeeddddd
well go to sleep then, AS. we can fight over the remaining tiles in the morning. :-D
good job stid!!!!!!
I need to head out also, though I don't want to...
thanks rae. I got lucky. I didn't know "ka" was a valid word
will do - see y'all tomorrow!!
Bye, AsGreen!

ca + 5th vowel + not Mom
oh, I just shut down facebook, kje. I am really tired. Got to bed late (my fault, I was blogging), then one dog woke me at 2:20 with an urgent outside need; then Tom bopped me with this elbow an hour later (just as I was falling asleep); then the other dog started pacing and shaking his head (ears were itchy) an hour after that! and I got up at 6... *sigh*
got the ca 5 ty

hi -- back again
wb jilli!
glad to see your icon, harp!

jellen -- re the previous conversation which ended up with your "beau" choice -- didn't mean to make light -- didn't realise it was your question and thought it was referring to live-in relationships.
Dang -- jellen left at just the wrong moment!
It was fine, jilli. I enjoyed the creative suggestions!
Beau is charming
Who knows, I may need a new term if things keep going well :-)
Lovely, jellen! :D
Yes, it is!
Did you know that he Babbles with me on his days off?
Now I'll shuddup and get out of the way of the keenbeans who are trying to finish -- next icon theme is A Word from the Grid which wiil be a Clue
Yes, jellen have seen him here, shyly
Well, what are we going to have in 18 minutes... (And I have still not found a webshop that sells Jamieson&Smith cobweb yarn with PayPal)
He is quite shy about chatting; he focuses on the grid as well.
My hubby is in the marhet place selling eggs and grilled sausages.
jellen, you told us he is shy -- but why is he shy? This is such an accepting place to be.

What do 10 eggs cost at your local shop? (just curious)
He's always quiet around people he doesn't know well.
Hi Ata!
and hi :)
On the other hand, flosey's hubby helps her with the grid but never chats -- and yet in other ways he is very very outgoing and a brilliant comedian (and bridge expert)
I don't know, ajv.
Think I spent $1.00 for six eggs the other day.
Thank yu atalante! That shop looks very dangerous for my purse,...
I can tell you what 6 fresh free-range eggs "grown" by a local friend cost -- $2. She calls them cackleberries :)
