It's very true. In NS, the chapters employees know nothing about their books and don't particularly enjoy them. Our store (I have discovered) is quite selective about employees and book knowledge. Not sure how I made the cut, but happy! :)
I love smaller bookshops, but most books I buy I end up getting from bigger chains because they stock the obscure things I want
Until I worked here, I always bought from CHapters. My universitybudget left little room for full price books:( Here, we do special orders for obscure things that the big stores refuse to order (if they can't get it in five days, they refuse)
it is hard on student budgets, price becomes the defining factor
especially for books that are over £100 each!
I had my school bookstore. I try to get all my books elsewhere (mostly lit books) but it is hard. That's why it's lucky I don't seek out certain books (except Jasper Fforde) and instead read whatever looks fun.

for the cordon bleu,you start with 2 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts,soak in 4% milk,cut almost all the way through,lay in 2 slices of hickory smoked ham,add some provalone cheese,and a sprinkle of dill.close it up with 2 toothpicks and coat in spiced corn flake crumbs and pop into the oven;)))
serve with fresh steamed veggies and a nice vino
