oh. so often what is supposed to be progress turns out otherwise, doesn't it? our agency is working on an update to our website, and I have my fingers crosse that they won't just ruin it.
yes the silly thing is its all new and flash but its missing the new logo
oh lord, don't get me started about logos. we're in the middle of a "rebranding" campaign, and suddenly we have to throw out all the old brochures, letterhead, envelopes, etc, so we can use the ones with the new logo. so wasteful! then they are thinking of moving to a different office in a few months, so they will throw it all away again because it has the wrong address!
t is wasteful.
it frustrats me that we got told off about the wrong logo when the old one surficed
right in the middle of a time when our budget keeps being cut and every dime matters (we are a nonprofit)

so they hassled you about using the old one, but still had it on their flashy new website? that's rich
yes. We had to have everything done in their colours for the confernce and their logo which is a giant pain in the butt as it is like um i think i will use butt as an example. BuTt its got these long and short bits and it buggers up the typind
totally understand. we had nightmares getting exactly the right new colors on the publication that I was recently working on, and getting the logo to work right can be a pain too

I feel that reading anything strengthens word knowledge, but not always as obviously as one might think. I read many things as a child way beyond my 'age appropriate level.' Didn't always understand what I was reading, but it built up my vocabulary as I learned to recognize and place the words. There are still many words I can't define but can use in a sentence properly!

Uni, that's my response exactly. My question comes out of a concern about a way of teaching vocabulary which is dominating the literacy scene these days, which is called "front loading" (ugh, hate that word) which teaches all the supposedly necessary words up front.....

Hmm, I haven't heard talk about this "front loading." While I can see a place for laying a foundation of word knowledge, I found that I learned so much through experience and application (ie - reading how an author uses a word or phrase).
I also read a lot beyond what they would call my "independent reading level" and I learn a lot of new words every day
Babble is a great example - clues for babblets (like Indian Nurse) mean nothing to me...but when I find that word, I will know it. I know it is a word, but that doesn't help me necessarily.

I always read "above" my grade level (whatever that means) but it resulted in me having two vocabularies --one reading and one oral to many funny results

Ah 4/6 & listen up! Am 4/6 this paragraph there are some clues.I started grid at the flip. I tried to cr4/6 in as many words before I went to bed.Then I ca 4/6 here again at 7:00 P.M. to finish.
