I think that's the new hiccup line
If I remember correctly, jilli, we turned left at that restaurant to go to mr aunt's home, Ste Therese (not sure of spelling, has been many years since I've driven down there)
**my aunt
am phist with these ph words
missing 2 re7s
Lol, flosey, I don't think you remember quite correctly -- Decarie Blvd was straight at that point. Since then there have been major highway alterations and a big interchange north of there, but even in those days I think you would have had to proceed straight north, then right and then maybe left to go to Ste Therese -- but I never did that so can't be sure.
I just remember having it pointed out to me jilli
my memory is quite vague now
mine too, lol!
this would have been almost 60 years ago
my aunt treated me to a holiday at Grey Rocks, with my uncle's secretary
for my 21st b'day
We used to ski at Grey Rocks
beautiful place but we were there in summer
the hotel was beautiful
And we used to meet our son's train from his boarding school and take him to Ruby Foo's for a special homecoming dinner and his favourite dessert, which I think involved merigures, ice cream, and a hot chocolate sauce.
*meringues
oh yum, I love those, last time we were at Herman's restaurant
he still has them
must get in - maybe after the concert on Sunday
are you going to hear the Orpheus Choir?
yes
got the red squares and went to do other stuff.. (it's ru's fault with that espresso!)
and, also hoping to talk him into attending the Bach on the Rock Elijah oratorio
yes -- I'm going to the Orpheus Choir -- after a birthday lunch at the Seaside! It's been party, party, party for this weekend!
lol, it keeps you young
I didn't feel very young this morning after too much vodka and wine Friday night!
John F. (bridge player) 's wife is singing in the Back on the Rock
lol, jilli, but glad you were able to attent the lovely supper
(was more sensible this evening -- no vodka, but...champagne, then a white wine, then a red -- but a little sparkling water in between.
my next door naighbours are old friends of the Fs!
guess that helps? I'm limited so George can indulge - he has hid own driver
the strange thing, I don't mind at all
You're a noble soul
well I think it's the meds that change the taste?
oh! What a shame!
I don't really care, as long as I can have a cappachino
may have misspelled that, am getting a bit dizzy
mmm -- I like those too.
That's the trouble -- I like just about everything!
hey guys!
that with a swiss dessert and I'l be happy
hello aaron

50 left for me...back later too
this is quite a grid today - some v strange words
does anyone have a clue for the first ha - ha 6/27 please
No Kazzer ... it is the only one I haven't got .. my fingers are worn out monkeying lol
so are mine - that's hy i asked - off to whip them a bit more. Only 13 left and i would like to finish before we go to the gym for our induction
ha6/27 - Looks like an old fashioned verb form.
thks haz - about the only thing i hadnt tried!!
Or resembling the structure of a woman's name Ju****
You're welcome. Hate the thought of fingers wearing out with monkeying.
11 to go
Morning all. Laughing at your profile Haz :)
Hello, FM!
how are you?
It was inspired by people talking about babble rules and not knowing what they were.
I'm well - we've got a burst of sunshine again so am enjoying that.
mmm same here today too, most pleasant.
Warm day for all the marathon runners though.
There's that. Wearing an inflatable suit won't seem like quite such a good idea.
I must love you and leave you - duty calls in the kitchen! Hopefully will see you later. Enjoy the grid!
Morning ladies....and how are we this pleasant sunshiny day????
Morning Flask, you have sun too? Splendid!
Bye for now Haz.
Oh bye Haz!!
Uh oh red boxes of doom, back in a bit.
d
a very good morning to you all and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to rubyfoo!
wow, something tells me people are enjoying the lovely weather :P
Bore da pawb - good morning everybody
Bore da, Glantarell :)
Penblwydd Hapus i Rubyfoo - Happy Birthday to Rubyfoo
*sprite is in love with welsh*
I have a special icon for her today
me too :) *checks out Glantarell's*
i'm not sure if it's loaded - it says it has but the old one is still showing for me despite refreshing several times
that looks very festive :) (remember to change the text too :) )
I can see it, Glantarell. A cake with candles and above it little flags with happy birthday in welsh on them.
changed it twice already hope it's 'stuck' now - both pic & text
glad the pic is there now - still shoing an emerald to myself
It is perfect now
I hope rubyfoo steals some time to babble so she can see them :)
me too - although if the weather is as gorgeous in France as it is here in Wales, she may enjoy that instead
i am glad it's a small grid as i should be gardening so at least i should finish in time to do some garden work!
indeed! It is pretty good here as well. My love and our dog are away on the bicycle.
enjoy
you too
HI
HOpe all the USA babblers are safe
Hi herin
what has happened in the US?
hi lady, whazzup?
There has been a lot of storms in North Carolina
I also spent $400 on clothes for work
ouch - doesn't your emplyer provide clothes if you have to wear special things? or do you just have to look smart like me?
that is a lot :(
Just have to look smart.
And pants are expensive
I got 6 items
i have a clever friend who only wears black and white so everything in her wardrobe ges with everything else
lots of combinations possible?
and she has almost limitless combinations
all her jewellery is black and white too
and she always looks fab
I can't wear white
but black and white both make me look ill LOL
very smart lady
so most of my wardrobe is shades of turquoise in summer and autumn colours in winter
off white might work just as well.
I think I got about 6 looks
White is not one of my colours
I am an autumn type as well. In white or in hard colours I look like a mop someone forgot to wrung out and store.
i suit all warm colours but no cold colours - and it took me ages to realise you could get warm blues and cold pinks
*that is 'wring'*
I am clear spring colours
pretty
or warm spring depending on season
Morning/evening Ladies.
Morning/evening Ladies.
http://tinyurl.com/3w7szvr This is where I got the look from
my Director asked me recently if every piece in my wardrobe was in the colours of the rainbow and I said 'no, but they are all bright' - she mostly wears black
hi and hi, FM :) Enjoying the good weather?
Morning Fmitch
Hi FM
It is lovely today. Changed my icon for ruby but seems a bit small, oh well it is the thought that counts.
that tinyurl didn't work for me Lady
I can see what it is, FM. It is sweet :)
spritey sprite, love the new pics of Terra, hasn't he grow into a lovely dog!
:D :D Oh yes he has! Adorable temper too.
and so full of character too :)
http://tinyurl.com/3w7szvr
what about that
that is for certain. He has quite a mind of his own and we love it. He is well trained, but also full of minor mischief.
says it didn't match any documents Lady
interesting works for me
http://www.thechicfashionista.com/spri ng-color-analysis.html this si the full one
works for me too herin, interesting site.
it works fine for me. Nice colouring, lady
that worked for me - nice colouring
I switch between depending on summer or winter. In Winter I go more Autumn in Summer more lighter
I'm summer according to the site but it doesnt make any mention about greying h4 :)
I am finally all natural
am getting greyer by the day, but I don't mind.
I started going grey in my 30s and now it is very much salt and pepper so works well, no desire to dye it.
I have a cat draped over one leg and heaven forbid I move even though my leg is numb
I like the look of greying hair. It is distinguished.
lol herin, those cats rule the house.
lol not just the house, the whole household and everyone in it :)
*giggle*
Pandora is never like this/
Terra gives us THE spaniel look when we pull away a leg he claimed as his own.
awwww
goes straight to the part of the brain where guilty feelings come from, lol
LOL depends what he was doing with the leg!
Pandora sounds like a pigeon cooing
sleeping on it. Preferably with one of his legs on it, and his snout.
'interesting' mix of words in the grid today.
fireflies! Friendly grid. One of the 7s gave me hell until I realised it was almost the same as another one.
woo hoo
i thought it was friendly until i hit 47 left
Congrats spritey!
i don't have any 7s yet!
I had to list for the last 15 and even then it was hard work.
I needed the tile stats to finish.
I must love and leave you, unless anyone needs a clue?
Time for me to pootle off for a bit, want to watch some of the marathon and then get lunch as am feeling hungry. Happy Babbling.
clue for any 7 would help

ah, didn't know it was a word on it's own but knew it has a 'shins' suffix
*sigh* stats for the right hand E please
what is its meaning glan?
nm nbt
did it again jmc
oh really! :-( the wi6/36 is a mispronunciation of a woman whose husband is dead -- how silly is that
wi****shins is a direction to stand in
sorry glan! i was pulling a peri
what direction?
it means to take a course which is in the opposite direction of the sun
I thought it was counterclockwise
oh cool *wonders how that can be worked into a conversation today*
it can also mean anticlockwise or to go round an object whilst always keeping it to your left
u always though wi****shins was a confusion as to what direction to go
At any rate it's the wrong direction - the devil can getcha
i'
how very neat I MUST use that word
o like stir the pudding counterclock wise!
it used to be considered unlucky to travel anticlockwise around a church

hi sue
ha5/22?
nm got it
there are 2 of those
oi5?
both ha are very closely related
along with the one in between them
darn, missed her.remember everyone, random computer shut downs are often a case of overheating and the override temp protection kicks in when the cpu chip gets too hot.with a lappy made sure you have it resting on a hard surface and that all vents and fans are clear.with a tower random shut downs are a sign that the heat sink fins behind the cpu fan are clogged with dust bunnies and a cleaning is in order

2 wi 6,s both common

only 2 wi/6
then that solves that:))
2 x wi5/20 + wi4/9
last wi6 has 'most' suffix

Oh man. Thanks, Crossy and Glan. Definitely common!
right, off to the garden while the sun shines! *poof*
Didn't even notice the "most" suffix before
lol happens to me as well, cannot see the words for the babblets
Morning friends
howdy bob
hello all
Hello TO!
hi uni!
howdy TO
look at emma all grown up
hi cross
how 'bout the ad7?
Yes, Emmy's the queen of the castle now. She found me a diamon ring that someone lost in our island years ago (not joking!)
really? wow! do tell!
She was just nosing about under the island for weeks, so the beau checked it out. There was a bottle cap, a tinfoil ball and a ring. White gold, three diamonds, from Birks. Apparently quite old. It's been there longer than us, and longer than the person who lived before us! What have you been up to???
((It must have been wedged in, as we HAVE cleaned in the past year :D))
oh, nothing exciting, same old. i saw an emma like cat for adoption yesterday that had mickey mouse symbol on its side!
That's cute! Everybody needs an Emma : )
i could not believe it! i was falling in love with a handsome coal boy who was given up after a baby came into the family, he just spoke to everyone who approaced. but i am not ready, i like the idea but not the reality
do emmas;s spots look mouse like?
Oh, I'm so fond of vocal cats. We had a blue maine coon once (abandoned in a parking lot) who loved to chat and cuddle.
Honestly, Emma's spots don't really have much definition. She does have a black spot on her back right pad though, which I'm quite fond of. And a racoon tail...and a triangle of brown on her delicates..
maine coons are awesome.
I hope to never have to give up an animal. I know that sometimes they can get quite cross with new babies, but I like to think it can be worked out.
the older cat in house as actuallyt he jealous one and started fighting with this guy, so he got the boot. time to go tend to laundry. i am upstairs watching tv because living room tv is kaput. i will get lots of exercise.
clue for de7 anyone?
I've got nothing, sorry
Happy laundering, TO!

All the campers we went with decided to come to our house to finish out the weekend. Storm got worse, some friends went home to check on their house and it was hit by a tornado (2 miles from here)! so went to wash up all the wet clothes and dryer broke!

AD 7/36
Not me Kap. I don't believe in all the dire weather doom and gloom that is being spread around lately. There are always intense rain storms in the Spring.
ad7/36...opposite of subtract + Doctors prescribe bed****
thanks molly. strange word.
Bedtime?

Rhymes with opposite of east
Oh. I am slow today.

Just heard from my stepbrother - my stepmother is back in the ICU, doesn't look good. Even though she left my dad while he was in rehab, I don't harbor any negative feelings for her; she has her own issues to deal with.
Sigh.
:(
I suppose I had better call my dad and let him know...
is she not the one with emphysema? or am i thinking of another babbler?
She's the one.
Left my dad while he was in rehab with a broken leg, had a crisis shortly thereafter which resulted in the removal of most of her colon. Had a small stroke while in rehab and now something more major has gone wrong, don't know what.
clue for the ha6 please

it's a weird short form past tense of putting a destination on the outside of a letter
thx, soodle, I am afraid that she will not be with us much longer
LOL Diane, I would have thought of the AD 7/36 word
as an additional couple of hours in bed!
Oh, I am so sorry. I have no idea what happened there. Apologies.
nm, soodle, just one of those charming little babble hiccups :-)
All in all, its been a difficult time for you recently, Sue. (((Hugs)))
hi all
hi, jam
Hello JMC :-)
sorry things are intensifying uu
hi, jmc!
well, maybe this means they will be over soon :-(
hope so, sue
oddly enough, de**** and the 7 are types of ce*** trees
hi jave
di6,27 the second?
there are different cedar trees?
ooh, PB for jmc!
is there a list i am feeling kinda mumphy today
Di 6/27 (the second) PT of the di 2/6 immediately preceding it.
hi all; sorry for your difficulties, uusue; you're all in my prayers.
*smack*
and to think I clued ce5 for others
thx, java!
*looks for the jack left in pb last night*
Sue, how is your Dad coping with the news about your step-mom?
the sun is over the yard arm some where
di 2/6? would that be allowed?
2/6?
thanks, soodle. i swear i tried that... guess my brain is busted
ok, soodle, he's resigned himself to being without her anyway, and he is amazingly robust psychologically (much more than I am!)
Thats good Sue. I guess they made 'em stronger 90 years ago!
ge5?
Must have!
to make it that long/far, you've got to be strong.
I'm still laughing hysterically at the thought of JMC thinking she can leave a bottle of JD in the PB overnight, and still expect to come back the next day and find it untouched!
:-( no fair I put it there
should have saved me the last swallow
*sniff*
what's that hiding behind the bench?
I never touched it JMC, I swear. (Whispers... it was those Radical Babblers at the flip who drank it)
*perks up*
was not soodle you lielalaboohead! i was there for the flip :-P
just an empty bottle, java. don't tease her.
*hands jam a ball of cookie dough*
that's okay i always carry a spare!
i wonder how bourbon cookies would taste?
ge5 please?
Those 'Flip-Folk' scare the bejaysus outta me. NBT & NBS within minutes. They are the Super-Race of Babble.
my mom always made bourbon balls at Christmas
ooh, bourbon and chocolate cookies, yum!!!
Ge and robot ending, Jes...
*pour the jack over the cookie dough and stirs*
ah! thankee
robot ending?
*shakes her head at the cookie dough mess jam is making*
i like being at the flip. I enjoy watching people who are good at something
*looks down* anyone got an apron?
like data on star trek grana
*passes hanky*
or a napron?
thanks grana that helps
whats a napron?
*looks for cookie sheet in pb*
it's what "an apron" devolved into
Grandan, robot ending is a roundy vowel, and a shortened version of I would..... Very common usage in cluing on Babble
a tired apron
oh
oh my brain is NOT working for words today.
ta soodle!
*puts the cookies in* some one else should have done this i am a terrible baker
they used to be called "napron" but the word got confused with the article and the "n" slid over through time
i did not know that java but that makes sense
just one of those things that stick in the brain to clog up the works
*hands java a toothpick*
"ouch"
they work in crevices
howdy everyone, back for my last ten;)
I know the feeling Java. I can remember the capital city of Peru, but ask me what I had for dinner last night, and you bewilder me.... :-(
hi crossy
lima;)
lol
i had cheese enchiladas i made for 10 people
and freshly made guac
And for $64,000 tell me what I had for dinner.....
although as I pointed out a while ago, the capital of Peru doesn't change, while what you had for dinner last night is different every day :-)
you cant fool me you don't have 64000
hi crossy :)
lima beans?
don't be too sure uu i had a roommate who ate nachos every night
i was trying to remember what I had for dinner last night and could not...lol
Very true, Sue. thank you! I don't feel so bad now :-)
mmmmm succotash
yeah, my most recent ex-husband ate the same thing for dinner every day too (also breakfast and lunch)
lol,how many husbands have you goe through sue? lol
For the record, it was chicken korma, rice and salad. I guess I win the dosh!
if it wasn't jack he was a man of little taste (except for marrying you of course)
no, no - capital of Peru beans
Three. Current SO will be #4, and the last.
now if you could only find the $64000 soodle
lol sue the man killer...
(should have married him when we were engaged 40 years ago but we were young then and stupid)
heavens! that is the height of optimism to marry 4 times
no, no, they're all still alive!!! :-)
usually people get married when they are young and stupid
The triumph of hope over experience, as someone put it...
yeah, people don't usually get to be old and stupid
well if liz could have 7 or 8 ,i guess 4 is not bad at all:0
you never met my great aunt
SUE!! Really? Your dating an ex? I have recently hooked up with an ex (thank you Facebook) and things are going well. I am so happy to heat that things can work out :-)
well,burton was twice
Sue, your current guy is your sweetie from 40 years ago? What a romantic story.
mind you, we were apart for quite a long time, and did a lot of maturing in the mean time :-)
most of my exes are married dead or gay
ROFL JMC
All my exes live in Texas.
except for the creepy one that found me on facebook
and he's not an ex-spouse, just an ex-fiance
which is why you live in Tennessee?
a surprising number of guys i dated in HS were gay
me too molly! except the dead ones
well, one of mine is married, one is on the dole, and I'm still paying alimony to the third :-(
hmmmm who can we fix him up with
Yes Jes, that's where I hang my hat.
*picks up a pencil and a pad* and why do you think you married two deadbeats?
I wouldn't, jmc, he's the type who really doesn't like living with anybody else
molly you moved your hat?
wild...totally wild... when you can group them into on es that made it to the altar and ones that almost got there..lol
that's okay he doesn't have to live with them, just marry them to end the alimony
and #3 wasn't a deadbeat when I married him, he moved to IL from FL and couldn't ever find work again, sigh
to tennessee, jam, to get away from her texas exes
sorry uu just giving you a hard time
well i know the song
I know, jmc, it actually is kind of funny
is the ad7 built off the ad5?
apparently there are some things I am better at than others, lol
no, jmc, but it starts out almost the same way
practice makes perfect uu
no, jam. it's same first 3 letters, + got take a nap, get some ****
ad 7/36 sounds like past tense of what you wrote on envelope before mailing in jmcnrick.
that's my plan, jmc :-)
actually my current sweetie and I have been together for almost 3 years now and it's still great.
*puts a pillow under the calculator*
Sue, I am greatly impressed that a romance from the dim and distant past was rekindled.
what is the emoticon for jealous? ;-)
if you keep wedding s at the same church,do you get a repeat customer discount?
lol...just playing with you sue:)
Total surprise to me! He emailed me and said hi, after all these years, and that he was sorry, and I emailed back and said what for, and we pretty much went from there :-)
Not sure, JMC, but it is definitely green...
lol
nice story uu
i like welki

the re5, sue, is like putting new vinyl on a house, but without the last letter
right, that's the one I got. The 7's involve adding vowels to it.
spandex for a house???
just found one of the 7s, same first 5 but i don't think the words mean anything similar..

Si4/5 I'm done with th 4/5 puzzle, I will be an ai 5/12 and ai 4/5 you with a story of clues. It was a nice ar 4/5 day today. It was ar6/21 today than yesterday. It's my cr5/14 that nobody should spend a day inside on a beautiful day. So after getting dr5/12,I brushed my teeth with cr4/5 & put on some de6/24ent. Then I spent the day outdoors. First I read my Reader's Di 6/27 on the deck.I brought my dog outside too.He di 4/7 in the dirt while I am outside. Dog do 4/5 that all the time.He likes to be a ja5/24 and hunt for worms. I think that's just the od6/24 thing. I know birds like worms but dogs? Anyway,After reading my magazine, I put a di 4/6 in my ipod, I put my ha4/5 up and went on a bike ri 4/5. I had to be a do 6/30 and do 5/18 a few cars because I was a bike ri5/12 on a busy road. When I came back, saw dog was dirty from playing in the dirt so I gave him a bath.He thinks baths are the pi4/5 so he tried to be a hi5/14 and hi 4/6. He hates baths. He hi 5/16 under the deck, but I pulled him out and bathed him.My dog never hi5/14 successfully. He always hi 4/5 me with his paws and tries to run away whenever I give him a bath. After bathing the dog, I brought the ra 5/12 outside&I worked in the garden while listening to the music. Dog tried to be a ra6/21 and ra4/5 my work area. Jack thought there may be worms in the garden. Jack ra 6/24 a small area and I had to re4/5 my work. Th 4/5 is the end of the story Now that I have ai5/14 with my story of clues,I must bid you ad 5/14.I am going to watch tv for the re4/4 of the night.Hope that you got the gi4/6 of my clues.
good story but i still don't know what ja5 is! lol

Go jmcnrick go!
Anyway means "anyhow" or "in any case." "Anyways" is a strictly colloquial expression, as ungrammatical in written English as "anyhows" because adverbs cannot be plural.
Oh Shoot!Did I use anyways in my story?Hate it when people say that word. I'll have to back & reread story
i don't think so min
Although a lot of people write it, no such word as alot exists in English. Whether it is "a lot of fun" or "I like you a lot," a lot is always two words.
5 left
I am guilty of making it one word, but do know it is 2.
I do that alot!

Go jmc
hi wht
I have 10 times as many words left as you do.
Hello wht!How are you doing?Welcome to the chat log
And Hi all.
I am doing well. Your story was well timed. Thanks.
wht, did U see my story of clues I posted not long ago
If not, I also posted in my profile if you need to use it
one..one lousy,stubborn word...
the kids want to eat, like 3x a day. the nerve
thats what i say to my son "did i not feed you just yesterday?"
LOL suefrad625!
LOL crosshair!
how rude!
bad children
he is 17 so of course has a breakfast, elevenses, lunch, tea, supper,n ight time snack and bed time snack;(
elevenses being a great word from the lord of the rings and the dining habbits of hobbits;0
and british novels
The best food idea from the Hobbit is the idea of second breakfast.
at 17 they would starve waiting for me to make thier dinner.
at 14 it's hit or miss
lots of country folks do that-- a quick bite before you milk the cows and feed the animals and then the real breakfast
i say they make the dinner once a week at 16!
If I had kids, they would've had to wait until I was 38.
I have a friend who bicycled across the USA. It got to the point where the would finish the day's ride, have dinner, and a couple of hours later have second dinner.
firewiggles
That's when I started cooking.Been doing it 4 2 years
burn a lot of carbs bike riding
Congratulations jmcnrick on fireworks! Good for you!

Thks, min -- I'll have a look in a while
Hi stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
{{{jilleroo!!}}} how's my dearest oystercatcher friend? *wicked mama grin*
stidmama, I got a story of clues in profile if you need.
It's been a social whirl lately, stid -- coming back to earth now.

hi stiddie!
YAY min!!!!

I will be here off and on to give clues if anyone needs.
phand! (were you gone?) *very wicked mama grin*
I could use the CE 5/12 pls
Hello phandmd! How are you?Welcome back to the grid
I popped on only to leave real quick like because my husband had made dinner!
ce5/12 is c plus anagram of mens neckwear pluralised
I am quite satiated!
mmm lucky you!
thank you min!
yw
I agree, I am very lucky!
Friday evening -- dinner party at Pat Taylor's (the Irish Country Doctor series author) with his partner Dorothy Tinman and her visiting sister providing gourmet fare...last night another gourmet dinner celebrating my Oystercatcher neighbour's last day as acting principal of a local elementary school plus her birthday tomorrow...today a birthday luncheon for another friend, followed by a performance at ArtSpring by the Vancouver Orpheus male choir (wonderful).
you are very social, Jilli!
that sounds like a wonderful series of events, though I think the time frame is a bit tight!
do 5/18?
shakespeare-talk for "accomplishes?
yes indeed, stid -- but it's been fun!
hi phanmad!
whew, your social life has tired me out, Jilli
not mad at all! quite happy in fact... ;-]
hi Phan, i missed you!
awe, thank you Lbd!
do 5/18: do***ball was the name of a Ben Stiller movie.
and with a di 4/4 "blonde" term, I am at my limit for the day! be well, all! I am going to organize my materials and start loading the car for tomorrow!
thank you again, Min! that gave me 3 words!
Oh, I forgot to mention that my friendly bridge group met here on Saturday afternoon too!
I was hoping for that,...
yw
good evening Stid.
I think I used two of those words in my story earlier.
see you-all when I can! *poof*
I missed the story
bye stiddy
bye stid -- you never seem to be here for more than 5 minutes...*wail!*
take care, Stidmama
Goodbye stidmama! I will see you tomorrow in the log.
gg jilli, have you slept lately?
ph 5 and 6?
So tomorrow is my hubby's birthday. Think he'll let me babble on his birthday? I should let him play Farmville.
Hello shdybr8!How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
hi min, long time! how are you?
ph 5/18 is ph plus how old you are & ph 6/30 is plural.
I'm well now that I finally got rid of virus on my laptop
My computer was out of comission for almost a week!
eek, glad to hear it's gone
SHDY!!
dang, I should have seen those words! Thank you once again, Min.
lbd!!! ***hug hug hug*** HI
yw
oh dear, you have a Maxine, have to go look
hehe, love it as usual - chasing a dog out the door, I think she swallowed a big slimy piece of rawhide chew, brb
dog is fine, just not too bright, *grin**
eeeewwwww, slimy rawhide!
leave it to my furry kids
how has life been treating you, lbd?
have many memories of slimy rawhide events
it's been okay, nothing exciting, how about you?
memories? that makes me want to cry
same for me, just trying to build back up from last summer's meltdown, so far holding on and doing great
ra 5/12
loving memories, but alas, my two boyz have crossed the rainbow bridge. i'm sure they are harrassing and taunting all critters there.
i'm glad to hear that, shdy. I was just thinking about you today. :-)
hi shdy -- yup, a bit sleep deprived -- and meanwhile I, too, have been going through birth pangs with a new desktop
that's coming in my house, old man is 14, little girl is 13, idiot child is still only 5 or 6
ra + consonant + double vowel
thanks, lbd
lol, idiot child keeps the other two busy, i'm sure.
ty from me too, lbd
yw, phan
yw too, Jilli
jilli, always keep the old one plugged in until you get used to the new one (applies to more than computers!)
7 to go now
Go jillibus go!
lbd, idiot child mostly keeps the others annoyed. He thinks he
's rising to alpha, got another thing comin!
when the old ones go, I get a mastiff and the man gets a rott, poor idiot child is only 84 pounds today
what breed is the idiot child?
good q, some sort of boxer, labbish, maybe catahoula? i really don't know, but he has boxer colors, just not so jowly or stout
re 5/12 2nd one pls
shdy, the old desktop's motherboard died, but I had a laptop which I've used in the meantime. Now it's just a matter of getting the new desktop to behave. It's doing odd things with Babble, but local personal service comes along with the purchase so we'll work it out in time.
not jowly is good! less slobber!
Second re 5/12: I re***e at 26 Forest Drive phandmd.
you'll get it, jilli, my last one had windows 7 too soon, so had to learn to go in and config each program to run comapatibly
re + *** ceasar was a comedian
that's something that's bothering me about recent Dane breeders -- going for too much lip, making them drooly which they never were before. "Fluttering lips" is a FAULT in the Dane Standard.
true, lbd, he's a sweetheart, but we think he actually is retarded, noone believes me until they observe him, but he nearly starved to death before he found me, at less than 8 wks
thank you min
yw
i agree, jilli, danes should be lean to their height and regal
My laptop is Win 7 so I had to learn that just before the XP desktop died. I like it now.
Don't even know what version of Windows I have now
i love win7, have the whatever pro version from work, but it did take a while to realize that nothing is compatible yet
I'm amazed to find that several of my ancient favourite are still ok with Win7.
Min, just go to Help on your browser and About, and it will tell you what you have.
i think most of my issues are actually related to the video driver, anything with good graphics (i.e. normal video or tv) causes the whole puter to freeze, very annoying
60 Minutes is starting here -- back soon...
and done! Thanks again for the help
I can help clue if anyone wants
whooooo hoooooo PHAN!!!
Goodbye jillibus! I will see you later on in the chat log.
Congratulations phandmd on fireworks! Hooray for U!
i like windows 7, i use it at the college, but i have xp at home. makes for some interesting transitions when i'm teaching novices!
I really don't care what version of Windows I have as long as my computer works. Just got rid of a virus on laptop. My computer was out of comission for a week
i suppose so, but the really scary thing is when you have to mix the diff. offices!
DUH!I got WindowsXP.I have had WindowsXP forever
i feel your pain, Min. did that over the xmas holidays. thank goodness hubz had his laptop I could play on.
brb, need more tea
i remember when lsu switched from office old to office 2007, between semesters, faculty went crazy
Fortunately my laptop is a work computer, so I got it fixed for free by some tech guys at my school.
tech guys are almost always the best thing ever, in my book!
I had Windows Vista on my other laptop which wasn't compatible w/a lot of things either, but that one died
that's why i married one. well, one of the reasons.
vista is from h&%$, was my experience
Hi LeslieAnn! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
smart move leslieAnn
my computer always works :)
Any profession that fixes things is a good profession.
and you can get him to walk away from it occasionally? hehe
Whether it is doctors, mechanics, techies, etc. It is always helpful to have one in your family somewhere.
My family has a doctor&hubby's family has a mechanic
i fully agree
Unfortunately no computer techies in either families.
so, min, everyone can get to the hospital, and has help when they get there - perfect!
my sig. other is a mechanic, but of barges rather than small things, but he's a pretty good fixer. I do math, mostly useless at home, hehe
Looked to see where you lived LeslieAnn in case that computer breaks again, but alas, you are too far away
I am a teacher, but I am useless at home too shdybr8
well, i spoke poorly, min, we're not useless at home, we just don't use our professions much there
ha! yes we get calls from friends often with questions
No, I am pretty much useless.I don't cook and I don't clean; I just babble. Actually, I cook 3 nights a week.
that's more than me!
hubby and i hung 2 doors yesterday, neither of us had ever done it before, they actually look pretty good
I just started cooking so I used to be totally useless!
Sometimes I would like to hang my hubby from a door!
well, I will check back later for clues...
i am in charge of the pool, which was a swamp when i bought the house, but we floated around in it today - if you ever need cooking tips I used to do that for a living, and the ceiling fan would hang someone way better!
Goodbye phandmd! I'll see you later on in the chat log
Hello all! needing help with the he6&7
LOL shdybr8!
there is only he 4/5
sorry jilli, don't have 'em
whoops...typo...need the de 6&7
Maybe you can't find'em because there are no he6&7.
like antipersperant
lol..so true min!
hi Jilly
seems i do too, still can't help hon
Hi dawg...lordy wish it would WARM UP!!
de 6/24 makes your under arms smell good minus last 3 letters and de7/36 word is plural of de6 word Jillyjill
amen to that, Jilly. just had a nice little snow storm blow thru
ty..twisty...
we've only had rain here
My friend in Minn said she had a snow day yesterday.
move south, everyone, move south - it will be warmer, and all you have to worry about are hurricanes and crazy thunderstorms, but they come and go!
Snowstorms come and go too.I'd rather deal with the snowstorms than those hurricanes & crazy T-storms.
see, i'm a big baby about cold, i left colorado to escape it, if it's below 80 i whine (i.e. i whined and cried in my pool today)
lbd, thanks for thinking of me, that means a lot, so here's to you **taps tea cup with big glass of ice water**
i like the cold, i start whining when it gets to 80. but i am getting tired of the overcast skies and this white stuff. i'm ready for a change in seasons
cheers, shdy!
25 to go....*sigh*
i might own the only house in Louisiana where the utility bill goes up in the winter, it costs a lot more to heat up to 78 than it does to cool down to 78 (crazy me)
poor foster dog tried to make friends with the kitty a little too hard, now nursing a scratched nose.
awwww, **hugs baby dog**
LOL...poor pup...learning experience...
poor baby, hard lesson to learn.
we've been talking about another cat, since Fang passed last year, but there are 3 large dogs here, tons of strays in the neighborhood ( 1 of which I would love if she would have us) and we have a dog door, so not the most ideal situation.
Fang was the kitty of a feral mom, and we caught mom and all 5 babies, fixed everyone, and figured if they didn't find homes, we could release them back and they wouldn't reproduce. Turned out everyone got a home.
that's great shdy. my kitty is from the same situation, a friend took in mama when she was pregnant
the friend ended up keeping a brother and sister, but they all did find homes :)
that's funny that this is where I came in. I have a house cat. I also have been feeding a door cat for over a year. A month ago, she had 5 kittens under my bushes. They started eating real food yesterday. I am taking mom to get spayed in two weeks. Have to figure out what I am going to do with the kittens, they are precious and have already provided hours of entertainment.
i miss my Fang, we were together for about 10 years, she knew the older dogs and had put them in their place. She has a spot in the front flower bed now ( didn't want to risk the back yard and the dogs)
splurge and fix the babies too, or ask local animal welfare societies for help if you can't afford it, then actively search for homes! It can work!
5
but I thought that I couldn't get them fixed until they were at least 3 months old????
go Jily!
your local spca will help you with contacts, especially if they don't have to take them in
well babies should stay with momma for 6-8 weeks
I know where there is a low cost spay and neuter clinic, they did my car.
car
cat........ crap
they prefer it that way, the surgery is much easier if you can actually see what you are trying to do, but under special circumstances, special things can be done
an fw!
wow, veterinarian mechanics! lol
whoooo hooooo JILLY!!!
nice work jilly!
thanks. I will keep that in mind
so, um, joey, what exactly happened at this "clinic"?
lopped off a tailpipe lol
my own house cat got spayed. they took good care of her.
two tailpipes actually
lol
no $%$#@, LeslieAnn, huh? lmao
Well, have some work work to do, so will check back in now and then...
stay warm dawg!
just watch your tailpipes
lbd, don't you know lots about critters?
aren
aren't you a domestic biological medical specialist?
swinging back through to see if anybody needs clues
Congratulations Jillyjill on fireworks! Hooray for you!
Hello jesdraggon! How are you? Welcome back to grid
i'm good, min, a little chilly but otherwise okay
sorry, lbd, have a great night, I'm gonna go eat homemade ice cream, new treat at home
"domestic biological medical specialist"?
oooh, ice cream, yum!
doing snip-snip for kitty boys
you are doing? sounds like it'd interfere with babbling...
not at the moment, no. joey has some new kitty babies under her porch we're discussing
shdy it was great visitng with you. come back again soon!
ah. yes, get them snipped!
i will, or would rather not leave, just didn't want to overstep
jes, what age for the kitties?
to neuter? gotta have both testicles down.
well, they aren't there yet - at 6 weeks
a lot of rescues will do it if they're over 2 pounds. most private clinics/owners prefer to wait for 4-6 months so they're a little bigger.
but i've done them as young as 8 weeks for shelters, so they could adopt them out and not have to worry about getting them back.
k. thanks
no problem :)
yep, my puppy was done at 8 weeks, condition of adopting her from the shelter
lots of shelters and rescues do them young, because it's such a pain to follow up later, and they can make adopters sign a form promising to have them desexed, but there's no real enforcement available...
going to head to the pillows. see you all tomorrow!
nite, lbd
good night lb!
sleep sweet, dawg
this has been helpful, thanks
*poof*
jes, are you a vet, or a shelter helper, or both?
hello again :-)
Goodbye lbdawger! I will see you tomorrow in the log.
hi jilli
hi again jilli
jes has pushed a cow's uterus back in. she's a professional.
hahahahahaha. thanks, leslie :)
ok, *grinning* i just have'nt met her yet, was trying to! lol
Hello jillibus! How are you? Welcome back to the chog
(and people think veterinarian is a neat/glorious job!)
so i assume you are a large animal vet?
mixed, actually
hi all, are we still talking about the bovine-retro-inversion?
rural area, we do a little of just about anything.
only in passing, gwen, no details (yet)
nope, just fixing kitties, i brought the cow up
cool, that's what I always wanted to do ( horses, really) worked for my local vet all through high school, then dropped out of school, no chance of getting in
i don't work on primates, venomous snakes, or cats larger than a bobcat.
Hi Book Doctor Gwen! How are you? Welcome to grid!
thank god, for your safety!
that's exactly why--i don't have the equipment to do it safely, and i figure if you've got the money to own a tiger, you've got the money to take it to a referral hospital!
Tha Canadian Kennel Club has something called a Non-breeding Agreement, for breeders selling pups as pets before they're old enough to be spayed or neutered. It means that if the dog IS bred, the pups will not be registered. We sold all our pet pups that way, and people respected it, except for a woman we had trusted but who bred her bitch anyway. Consequently a whole lot of unregistered pups went to people who didn't care and probably ended up producing more mutts to end up in shelters. Infuriating!
i was just advising on kitties before you got here, and i think i said roughly the same thing, but you have the letters to back it up
i hate that, jilli, first of all, no idiot should breed dogs without planning, second, more people need to love shelter dogs
yeah, jilli--most of the people who sign an agreement will follow through. but you end up with a few that don't, and from a shelter's perspective, those few are enough hassle and cause enough new animals in the rescue population that it's better from a population perspective to do early desexing, even if it's not necessarily better from an individual animal perspective.
there's a lot of "herd medicine" in shelter situations.
I wanted to stay up until the flip, but can't see myself twiddling my thumbs for the next 2 hours,so I am out.
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
all righty min, have a great night!
g'night, min, sleep sweet!
but i fully agree with spaying or neutering of all animals that aren't specifically intended to breed. All 3 of my dogs are rescues, are wonderful dogs, are mixed, and are my children. They have a wonderful life, they are my kids
help with the ad7 please
weird shortening of past tense envelope destination
ad 7/36: sounds like past tense of what you write on an envelope before you mail it DR1965.
ty Jes and Min !
great clue, Min
i'm totally biased, but must agree that rescue dogs are the way to go, shdy
jes, when we were active in the Dane breeding, early desexing was just not done. I remembert alking to a long-time Boxer breeder, who said that years before he used to get pups done at 6 weeks, but that seems a bit too early to me -- just about weaning time.
yeah, about the only places that do it that early are shelters. it's better from the individual pup's point of view to aim for about 6 months; give them more time to grow and be more robust before the surgery, but still catch them before their first heat
or before they start developing "dirty boy" behaviors
i love them, jes, my only problem is that I have 2 very old dogs, when they pass, I intend to get another, but the pound makes me want every single one of them. What I've looked into is breed specific rescues, I would love to have another Newfie, but it isn't reasonable in Louisiana, so instead I would love to have a Mastiff or mastiff mix, not one from a breeder but one who needs a home
i could totally hook you up, shdy, but you'd have to drive up to washington to pick him up...
shdy, you should try petfinder.com or adoptapet.com. you can search for specific breed (or breed mixes) that need homes
i think adoptapet.com even has an email alert so if someone lists a specific breed dog by you it emails you
I have an acquaintance who knows someone in the area who fosters mastiffs, so when the time comes.....but that time involves the love of my life (my Bear, the 14 year old), and my baby girl (Shady Lady, the 13 year old) not being here
therin lies the rub, jes -- by 6 months, the pups have gone to new owners who may or may not carry out the desexing. We were careful breeders, who used only dogs cleared of hereditary problems -- even only *possibly* hereditary problems, and none of ours ended up as rescues -- we took them back and rehomed them if things didn't work out.
yeah, no rush for that, shdy!
shdy, dogs from GOOD breeders need homes too!
reputable breeders are so hard to find, jilli. thanks for being discriminating!
the thing is that I am also completely open to mixed dogs, i only want the ones who need a home to have one, and i prefer (actually insist upon) large dogs
shdy, contact the AKC for rescue organisations.
shdy the current foster is a 90-pound lab/shepherd who thinks he's a lap dog. :)
ar 6/7?
I probably deal with about 10 irresponsible/backyard/low-quality breeders for every reputable breeder i come across
thx, jes, you understand that i am looking, because the unthinkable is approaching inevitable, Leslie, I would love him/her, but I will not subject my old man to any further discomfort in his life
a+horse and r5
oh not asking! he has several folks interested in him. he is the biggest one we've had so far and i am enjoying him a lot!
reputable breeders are not hard to find at dog shows. Dog shows are not hard to find via the AKC (or CKC here.) There is a magazine called Dogs in Canada which publishes an annual listing breeders. You have to do a bit of screening, of course -- and so do they.
What kind of shepard Leslieann?
i don't go looking, jilli. i have enough rescues to never need to buy a pup. i mean that of the breeders who come through my clinic, those are about the odds.
*shrug* german?
My Bear came from the La Plata County Humane Society in Durango, CO, Shady came from outside KMart there, (across the street from ASPCA and I threatened the idiot who had her in a box in the cold. Nico (aka Idiot Boy came from near Butte La Rose and was nearly starved to death (he weighs 84 pounds now), Fang, who passed last September, was almost 11 years old, and lived a wonderful life with Bear and Shady, and hated Nico with a passion
http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/190 61513
i especially loved the woman who called me up wanting me to sign a certificate that her male dog looked purebred so that she could get it registered. She'd bought the dog from some random person in a parking lot with no clue of his history, then turned around and bred him, and kept insisting to me that she was "not a puppy mill"!
oy gevalt.
i told her that i was not going to sign anything swearing to something i couldn't prove, and that any registry that'd register a dog based on pictures and 2 signatures that it "looks purebred" with no history wasn't a registry it was worth sending money to anyway.
sorry jes, I have certain dog types I would like to live with, I would love to have a Newfie, because I love my Bear like there is no tomorrow. But I will also not subject another dog with that kind of hair to this climate. I love Mastiffs because they are large, kind, and short-haired. My dogs have the run of my house, I have a dog door, and a pool I bought for Bear (i.e. I found a pool for Bear, and a house came with it)
no, i meant i could hook you up with a mastiff, not a newfie. :)
would love that, no matter how much I love Newfies, South Louisiana is not where they should live
indeed. not a hot/humid appropriate breed...
Bear is only about 70 poounds, without hair, but he is so miserable until I shave him, at which point he looks like a badly maintained standard poodle
hah
seriously
he is the love of my life, and I will do everything i can until he doesn't feel better any more, i massage his shoulders, lower back and hips, and also lower legs
got him on a glucosamine + chondroitin joint supplement?
he takes 2 - 100 mg Rimadyl each day, doesn't seem to be enough, we're due to see our doc in early May, so I was planning to ask him if there is more we can do
jes- I wasn't suggesting that YOU look for dogs! I meant shdy.
you can use joint supplements with the rimadyl; they can be quite helpful
lol, jilli
and you would pick________ for your dog?
Anyway, I've said my bit and have 5 words to go -- in half an hour the new Upstairs Downstairs starts here and I want to concentrate on that then!
does need to be on them for about 3 weeks to see a difference. there are several brands of cheweable, your veterinary clinic probably has some, but you can use the human stuff too.
shdy, I was a Great Dane breeder...
Move Free and JointFlex are pretty reliable brands, but there are dozens out there. You just wanna be aware that supplements are not considered drugs, so they aren't FDA regulated. That means there are a lot of inexpensive brands that are cheap because there isn't anything in them worth paying for. stick with a brand you know, and if it doesn't seem to be working, try a different brand.
i'd start a dog that size on a full human dose for a month, then try dropping it by half. you may be able to maintain on half, or he may do better on a whole dose.
so use the same thing i'm giving my husband?
And if you want a Mastiff, google the Mastiff Club of America or someting and I bet they have rescue organisations near you.
yup :)
http://www.mastiff.org/
re 7 words?
one re7 is what left over from something
I don't have the other one
what's left after you use up the good stuff
the good news on the Mastiff front is that my therapist (you all remember that I lost my mind last summer) knows some people locally who foster Mastiffs, so when the time is right, I can meet a puppy (which to me means dog that's alive) and provide a forever home for someone
they are variations of same definition. if you have the re5, just start adding vowels.
oh that's great shdy. also, btw, nice to see you here chatting again
didn't know, shdy. glad you seem to've found it again! :)
ty. LeslieAnn
jes? confused, what did I find?
the mind you said you lost
oh, well, no guarantees on that, lol
can someone please help with the ha 6?? thanks
