did I kill the chat?
hi Dee, was just off to change icon
welcome back
flosey, how about giving a couple of letters which start your icon clue?
oops, was hurrying!
I left because I don't see the point of calling 2 letters and a number. which are already listed in Lickety. I just find it distracting when I'm trying to find my own words. Others seem to like it, not wanting to open Lickety for some unfathomable (to me) reason), so I' mjust closing the chat when this is going on.
I quite enjoy that part of babble... interesting how we all like different parts
I know you do, dee.
me to jilli, I seldom pay attention to the chat, what's the difference in asking for a clue and using lickety
yup. me too
unless ru is punning, lol
a clue to me is a hint as to the actual word, not just "ab3/56"
yes.
I couldn't agree more, jilli. I try to avoid playing this early because of it.
hi sprite
good morning. Having a wonderful spa day planned with friend, so must play early or not ;)
hello sprite, we very seldom see you at this hour
it used to be my set play time, but I quit because of the nonstop spoilers
Anyway, I've said my piece. Those who like the "calling" can go ahead and do it. I'll be absent, and sorry, because the real clues are such fun. But I can wait.
Glad you hear your opinion, sprite -- so I'm not alone and just a spoilsport.
no hun, you are nothing of the kind. Several people stopped playing at this hour for the same reason.
Very interesting.
of course you are not a spoilsport jilli, we all have the right to our opinion without seeming to sound - what was the word used? cranky!!
lol, had to look back to find the remark!
beautiful icon clue, btw, flosey
btw, thanks, flosey for the icon clue's beginning
thanks sprite
evening almost everyone :)
hey mrP :)
hi mrp :-)
hi mrp
as in almost evening everyone!
it came out wrong first time!
grin I know you meant that.
mrp, I read your bio -- not another taunt from that guy -- jeez!
hi everyone are we all happy/ seems like a bit of niggling going on between the babbling sisters
hello vanilla
hi jilli, sprite, flosey et al :)
yes jilli... it just keeps on coming
The sun is shining here and all is well with this end of the owrld
hi vanilla
the police are dealing with the Mole today
hi vanilla, it is an old argument...
hi vanilla! good to hear!
is there an argument?? sorry, I didn't know
he seems relentless, mrP. This guy needs a major problem in his own life so he will stop focusing on you.
Mind you it means that I'll have to get back to the weeds soon
no hun, argument was already over again
no, mrp and vanilla, just different strokes for different folks
ah vanilla, no beautiful garden without having to weed :P
good, the best part is kiss and make up
ah, fair enough
I never put on make up ;)
sprite, I haven't even been able to drive in the terrible weather! but my friend did take me shopping, so I have the TimTams!!
you're a natuiral
flosey -- wich ge5/16 is your icon?
a natural homely! :D
I have the first one.
mrP, that is yummy! Remember to take your time and save your energy for the important things.
the first one jilli
I spent a few hours enjoying your Koopman Sprite
my Koopman?
i have tried every bloody 'or' monkey and nothing!!
Ton Koopman
ok, thanks flosey -- didn't know it was so pretty!
oh lovely! Lovely music, isn't it.
mrp, do the math!
Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra BAch Cantatas
they can be quite beautiful, had a friend back in TO who was a rock collector, travelled all around Canada and US searching
just got the bugger!!
well oregano is a phantom, mrP ;)
tried every other combo on those two!!
oh the bach cantatas.... (jealous)
Must look up about Klaus Metser soloist excellent
don't know that name, but very glad you enjoyed yourself so well
We miss out on good concerts in our neck of the woods but we just had a classy hall built so here's hoping
having a good place with good acoustics will help draw good orchestras
indeed
refresh, please, if you want to see my icon clue (for mrp's benefit)
vanilla goes straight to the PB :D
T vanilla! morning all
80 wds thats enough for the mo, must go to the weeds hagd all
oh good one, mrP
good one jilli
oops after I come out of the PB
bye vanilla, you too
and thanks vanilla, didn't have that one
ok. fw and i'm to bed!
lol vanilla, just grab some goodies and be on your way... PB is as much a reward as a punishment ;)
hello glant
night m9, sleep well
and hey glant :)
*poof*
wow m9!
what did my icon do??
Hi Jilli, Sprite
and wtg m9!
on ya m9!!
hi glant :)
yikes, mrp! Just took a good look at your icon!
Hi Mr P
omg that is brilliant. And am I glad I don't have that in my storage!
lol, did that come from a school Chem. lab
you like!??
as long as the lid stays on mrp
it is a word in the grid... but just spelt different and a part of a foot instead!
well, not exactly LIKE...
it is also a cryptic clue for a grid word!
it is for sale in wal-mart....
in china!
oh my, mrp -- slightly farfetched!
nah, works for me, jilli, lol
ewweewewew
oh jilli! must forward you the email!! is your email in your profile??
may I have it too, mrP? Am not at home so cannot steal your icon pic now :(
i see the email... will forward now
oh yuk! Although I did like frogs' legs...
yes sprite, it will come shortly
poor flosey, *grin* Here, dear, let me cover your eyes...
yes, mrp, down at the bottom -- but you already have it anyway
(I hope we didn't scare dee away)
well sprite, at least I'm not AFRAID of them, unlike snakes - when the kids were here they were taking pictures in the garden, amongst them was a snake with his head about 3 - 4 " in the air
that must be awful when you are afraid of snakes. I think they are beautiful, but I steer clear from them in real life.
shouldn't think so, jilli, volleymumdee said she found the different opinions interesting.
I've tried forever to get over it, but no luck, I just avoid gardening
yes, but she's been very silent ever since. Wouldn't want to spoil her fun.
oh darn flosey, what a shame! So sorry that took away the fun of gardening for you. But I can imagine how it would.
thankfully we only have two kinds of snake here - both rare - and the only one likely to be found in gardens is harmless
she does leave early sometimes though Jilli
true, flosey, but rarely without a "goodbye"
we do have snakes in the netherlands, but I have never seen one in our garden or actually anywhere near houses.
yes, that's true jilli
on 2 separate days, Dave came in and said he saw 5 while he was there
so sorry flosey :( And there is probably no way on earth to make a garden snake proof
our property is quite large and much of it is wild, heavily treed
I don't mind snakes at all -- at least not the little ones I see sometimes in the garden -- they always glide away and hide.
sprite, they do more good for a garden than I can
would it be possible to snake-proof a part of your property, flosey? So you can still enjoy gardening without having to be afraid?
what a charitable thought aboutsomething that scares you, flosey!
not easily, sprite
ok, sent... check emails girls
jilli I had a saltspring email for you??
can't until I am home again, mrP, but thanks, will find it after the vacation :D
but sent it to the one you have on your profile
oh -- that doesn't work any more, mrp -- did you get the new one from my bio?
ah, vacation time!! I still get my bloody emails during vacation... lucky you!
I see you did -- good.
yes jilli
phantom android keeps getting in my way
flosey: I got it! You probably have something like a veranda, anywhere you can hang and put big plant pots. You could make a mini garden with those and tend to it close to the house without having to worry.
tried it too Glant
in6, Glant!
oh yes sprite, we have a large deck on east side of house and a small deck outside of my office
and thankyou Sprite, for being so concerned
I even have roses on the deck
my friend used to have only a very small balcony and she always turned it into a real garden of eden.
miniature roses
and now i have a phantom ardent - the ardent android ;-)
aw that is sweet! They are so pretty. Yes of course I am concerned, I know how important it can be to be able to play with soil and seeds and flowers.
jilli, I can't get over the crocodiles!
hahaha Glant, I am right with you!
tyro
got your email, mrp -- what a selection! I'll be forwarding it around.
darn darn darn off to the PB with me, sorry. missing my Expert!
oh oh sprite
thx, sprite, and what would you like in the sin bin?
thanks jilli!!
putting soem Welsh cakes in the PB for Sprite
a cup of coffee would be nice... and some fruit.
*throws TimTams at sprite as she heads to the PB*
yummy Glant!
*jumps high to catch the TimTams... wow can that mrP throw a mean cookie!*
what is a TimTam mrp?
hehehe !!
flosey, it is heaven on a biscuit!
flosey, we have them here in Country Grocer -- cookies.
mrP says it is the mother of all cookies, flosey
oh, thanks jilli, will look for them
but the ones you have are not the originals :((
well, being a bit of a cookie monster, I must try them
No? What's the difference, mrp? We have several varieties.
how would they differ mrp?
am sending the timtam slam info as well as the timtams sprite
they are not made by the same manufacturer as here
they taste different
lovely mrP, thanks so much
if it is Arnott's TimTams, then they are the original and the best
we don't have tim tams at all :-(
I'll have to check. They might well be -- we get lots of imports from OZ.
in my next shipment glant... remind me and email me... i will send you some if your are allowed to received food products to your country
we are alllowed certain foodstuffs - just no meat, dairy products of fruit - packaged biscuits, sweets, cakes etc are fine
we are allowed nothing!
i know - i sent a piece of art with a dried fern frond on it and Australian Immigration & customs offered to irradiate it fir her for $40 so she could receive it
I visited Australia by ship 3 times in the 1970s, and we were pretty fed up of immigration coming on board and fumigating us before we were allowed to dock :-)
wow that is sick
it made us feel dirty when we were actually quite clean!
yep, planes are self fumigated now... passangers from overseas don't even know it!
it goes through the aircon system now
don't they import any stuff either, mrP?
halfway
yet people still seem to catch bugs on planes
they do sprite... lot's of stuff, but it has to go through strict quarantine
63 left here but slowing down
well, the tantrum time approaches rapidly and i need to go to work so i will bid you all farewell until this evening when i come back for the last 90
and if you want to bring your dog here... you have to wait 6 months to get it
oh, sprite, I thought you'd have finished by now, lol!
*poof*
see ya glant! good luck with witching hour
and there is no way to send a package that first goes through same quarantine? I am frustrated I cannot send you dutch goodies.
bye Glant, have a good one
i would have to pay quite a sum to have it irridated sprite
bye glant -- have a good day
it just isn't worth it hun
ridiculous. And what does irridating do to food stuff? Make it uneatable? inedible?
lol jilli, silly!
I suppose it ensures there is nothing contaminant in it?
yes of course, but would it spoil the contents?
no, sprite
no, don't think so
ok... then there is still hope :D
lots of foods are irratiated to preserve them. People confuse the term with radiation -- a totally different thing.
still can't believe this helicopter crash!! they have abandoned the recovery effort due to the weather... it nearly smashed into the netball courts
so so sad for the families of the two men
helicopter crash? Hadn't heard about it...
35 to go but brain has turned off, better get to bed, goodnight all
bad bad crash... only km's from us
night flosey :) sleep well
my daughter plays netball there... it crashed right near the courts
clue for the an7?

hi cos :)
hi mrp
the wall is hit at 50 to go... darn it
wow, this heatwave in the US is nasty!!
middle of summer... and killed 22 people? wow
the only state not affected is Oregon
that state people are shivering and are wearing coats outdoors
wow! And also see people are going over waterfalls and dying in national parks... what are they thinking??
yeah people are insane
we have severe weather warnings still to come... on top of the severe weather warnings we already have... not driving anywhere!
hi cosdem
bbl, have to organise dinner... again.... 4747 days in a row!
bye mrP, enjoy
ok refresh for icon clue, if you want one. Ma6/27
Hi there, everyone. May I please have a clue for ti6-21 the 2nd Thanks
hi peach, my 2nd one is stuff to start a fire with.
Ah, thanks much, sprite.

I am off to pick up my friend, hope to be back late this eve to finish this baby... and otherwise perhaps till tomorrow. *hugs*
Enjoy your day, sprite.
morning all. how many words today please
141, but most of them start with vowels *shudder8
thanks
I've typed in "android" three times because I can't believe it's not there. But then I found myself wondering . . . is it a word? Is it too new?
Joke time! TEACHER: Glenn, how do you spell 'crocodile?' GLENN: K-R-O-K-O-D-I-A-L' TEACHER: No, that's wrong GLENN: Maybe it is wrong, but you asked me how I spell it.
help please.....have first te5 but cant finf the te4 that comes after it

Samanthajoy, are you not using the same "D" twice
Fireworks.
good morning all! i Haven't come in here for aaaaages
Hi Varumba, welcome back. Oh Samantha, you were so close. : )
hi all....much nicer here today..its only 21C out
Whee! Haul out the sweaters! : D
having gone through horrible withdrawal symptoms, I'm back.
what a nuisance, more than a week withut an internet connection and now, even though I'm (tenuously) connected, my husband stil isn't and is VERY unhappy. In this bad week : 1. I've lost my typing skills but 2. have been enjoying the Tour de France
how close to where you are is it today? Haven't looked at a map lately ... but it's fairly close isn't it?
so glad you're back, ruby!!
this year, it hasnt been close. However, on \Saturday, the individual contre-la-monte is one hour away. It's stil better on TV
merci beaucoup, une.
Soodle and I talked on the phone and realized that if one of us died, it would be unlikely that anybody would know.,....
montre*
I haven't been able to watch this year ... Does anyone have a chance to beat the Shlecks?
(((((((RUBY))))))))) Missed you.
I am still rooting for Cadel Evans as I think Andy Shelck, although a terific rider, lacks character and charm.. Thank you Molly, I missed you, too
... Must cheer for Team Garmin and RyderHesjedal and Thor Hushovd ... as close to a Canadian team as exists anywhere ...
It was good to hear from Soodle and know that you were okay, just having computer problems.
I watch the Tour 4 hrs/ day and if I hadn't had that, without an internet connectrion, I ould have gone crazy (craxier!)
<-- loves Hesjedal!!!
Well, if no computer, boys on bikes with tight shorts on is a nice second choice. : P
and, also, team Garmin - that Hushovd is a lovely, huge monster
too old to look at the shorts
molls...is 21 c feels like 30 C...but feels so much cooler..who'd have thunk 30 c feels cool
... never too old to look ... ... ... must take wife to work ... thanks for the update
is there any big news in the chog? how is uusue\s son (and uusue, of course); and mrp?
it is cold but pretty here
and fruit!!!!
They dropped the charges against Sue's son, pending that he has no contact with the girl for six months, which is no problem. There is lots of relief in Sue's house.
Carlee, it's like they say, we have the hot days so we can appreciate the cooler ones more.
that is happy news, Molly, the last thing Sue needed was problems with her son. And if he can't stay away from that pisonus girl, he has to be aware of the consequentces!
that was poisonous*
Poisonous is a good word Ruby. It is frightening how poisonous some people can be. I suppose that is why they are referred to as "Toxic People".
I never hear that expression before but it is truly apt!
I'm sure you know the type Ruby. Always seeking attention, drawing you into their drama, creating drama when there is none.
but we, as adults, can handle int. But a young fellow, in thrall to his ormonses,is definitely less capable.

in a week my typing has deteriorated, too
sorry
Well, to put a positive spin on it, it's a good thing he got this lesson young in life. Perhaps it will help him make better choices in the future.
let us hope!!!!

Good morning babblers!
Hey Red, how are you today?
That missing "M" is probably the alternate spelling of what you do with your money, when you budget. It's some horsey word.

Morning friends
hi mr bob
good morning! it is raining!!!!!!!
... may we have some please?
I'll send it right over :-)
... thanks ... maybe it'll get here by tomorrow
except for a brief but very nasty windstorm last week this is the first rain we've had in a long time
... it did nothing but rain here for April and the first half of May ... ... hasn't rained since ...
crazy weather :-(
we had a lot of rain earlier as well, you can see in the corn fields where the farmers couldn't plant because they were underwater
Clue for an7 please?
... is there a water situation developing there? ... I drove from here to Las Vegas in '06 and it seemed that if it wasn't for the irrigation there'd be no crops growing through Iowa and Nebraska at all
... an + a hesitation + robot ending
Tx dose
I think we are ok so far, due to the earlier rains we are just about even for the year. We did have horrible drought a few years ago, and most of the fields here are not irrigated (not cost effective as we don't get drought that often, although that may be changing)
and thx for the an7 - think I will put it in the physics babblets
... I kept seeing these massive lines of sprinklers putting out tons of water ... I was surprised that there was any left in the Missouri ... ... coming back it seemed that the Arkansas was getting smaller as I came downstream
The Rio Grande disappears before it gets to Albuquerque due to irrigation!
Good morning, dahlinks!
... I noticed that too
but the only sprinklers right around here are on the turf farms
hi, Judi1
Smurf farms?
Judi! (don't like the shift key on this new rubber keyboard)
turf farms, where they grow grass for sod (more green than blue :-)
... in Kentucky ... for the blueness
Am horrified to know that Smurfs are back on the scene. A new movie. Errrgh.
don't tell me - I had to sit through a preview of it! Awful!!
If you ever watch "Robot Chicken", they always rank on the Smurfs - blow them up, etc. It's awesome.
... they may be subversive ... ... but better them than Family Guy ... ...
the thing that bothers me about the smurfs (among other things) is smurfette - the female one - like being female is just another odd variation of the norm
... true ... but then the most intelligent male on television is the dog, Brian
... perhaps the only intelligent male on television
Believe me, I've never thought so deeply about smurf culture. They are just squeeky voiced, annoying, intellectually insulting little characters.
<---Bangs head against wall to get Smurf theme out of it.
Everything from my older sons childhood is coming back. Transformers, Smurfs. What's next? He-Man?
back in the 80s the daughter of the guy I lived with watched them incessantly. Blerg.
Probably. Along with the Smurfs trailer, we also saw a trailer for Thunder Cats. Took great effort not to run screaming from the theater.
and didn't he-man already come back? (I don't actually pay that much attention to new movies)
If it did, I missed it. I will say that the He-Man live action movie was one of the best cartoon to film transfers I've seen. But how could they go wrong with Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella.
maybe I am confusing he-man with the X-men (told you I don't pay much attention!)
Must have been He-Man. Dolph & Frank weren't in the X-Men movies.
Need a clue for the de6/27, please.
Oh yeah, it's hot. One of UDC's campuses is closed today because of excessive heat. Apparently their chiller is "antiquated".
... de6/27 ... I think it's a middle eastern coin ... ... or de +na4
Morning all - I saw He-man on Toon one day when flipping channels.
Really bad cartoon!
This was this winter
It may seem like a bad cartoon to adults. But when my older two were younger, it was all the rage with the boys. They all had the action figures and played with them constantly.
Got it, dose. Ty.
I imagine some people think "Hercules" was a bad cartoon as well. I thought it was pretty cool when I was a kid.
Well I don't mean the story line, that was generic. But the pics were amateurish
Robot Chicken also always goofs on He-Man for its (ahem) homo-erotic tendancies.
whaaaaaa?
You have to watch Robot Chicken. It's hilarious.
When they started going PC on cartoons they took out all the fun
What? Is there speculation that He-Man and Man-At-Arms were more than co-defenders of justice? : P
I bow out -
and never mind Batman and Robin...
I want the Justice League back!
Batman has gotten too dark for me
Yes, Hoot! Old school Superman and Aquaman!
Actually, Batman was always dark in the comic books. It's the cartoons and the 60's TV show that made him "lighter".
Yeah!
No - never as dark as now
lol, Molly. I think "campy" would be more accurate.
Wonder Woman was to The Justice League what Smurfette was to the Smurfs.
Ans Spiderman had some angst in the comics but made it the be-all in the movies. Very stupid and unpleasant
the TV show was rediculous
Wonder Woman - another really bad TV show!
Well Wonder Woman can fight, and she was there, so she could not be left out
I didn't like the Spiderman movies. I never bought Toby Maguire as Peter Parker.
Have ANY of the tv shows been good?
Linda Carter lives around here and she has a reputation as a first class bitch.
I think he was good at it, but script doed him in!
Well look into her eyes. I think that's why they picked her.
steely eyes
stats for the central e?
For some reason, I liked The Incredible Hulk TV show. Maybe because of Bill Bixby.
I could see why Linda Carter would be bitchy. She was a one-hit wonder woman.
ed 4/5
How are you feeling today Sue?
*thinks Molly liked the Hulk just to see guys bussting out of their pants*
Who is being a putz now? : P
The Hulk was done right. Ienjoyed it too.
:D
MOLLY....ed4.... the rim
still pretty crappy, molly, although I am convincing myself that I will be well enough to give my talk tonight (should be, it's only 1/2 hour)
eger
and duh, thx for the middle e, my brain is obviously still not working well - that gives me nbs and nbt. maybe i will go back to bed for a while (and I had the rim but it comes from the e on the right)
sorry - any coffe in there?
Thanks Maryte, but I wasn't asking, I was giving stats for Sue.
And I just used the wrong box
I really liked the Hulk TV show. Had a major crush on Bill Bixby.
Mr. Eddie's Father.
wasn't he in My Favorite Martian too?
Yep, Ru. That's where he got his start.
The Courtship of Eddie's Father.
I loved that show as a kid
People let me tell you 'bout my best friend...
one left a clue please for the re 6/21?
I used to run around with antennas on my head as a kid... little did I know I'd need them here
re+ proof a paper science
To make corrections again...re6/21
thanks Molly. I could not see that
and ty rurru
ruru
*Pictures little Ru with his tin foil antennae stirring cassoulet at the stove*
I didn't do cassoulet until my teens

hi all, went to the local Borders early this am expecting to get brgains. I missread the e-mail. It said UP TO 40% off. Only bought one book at 10% off. bought a magazine and a greeting card that were 40% off tho.
Hi, Peri. I'm so bummed that Borders stores will be closing.
I would have expected better bargains than that Peri.
The prices will drop the closer they get to shutting thte doors. *sigh*
I know the prices will go down but less selection. it is a trade off. some people were still buying lots of books.
will go again if the prices are more than 20% off and see what they have left. the cafe was closed and people were complaiing about that. can
can't please everyone
Great article by Mitch Albom on the closing of Borders... http://tinyurl.com/3vc7z99

What an unpleasant surprise Annie. I hope it doesn't cost too much to get it fixed.
I dont think so but he looked the car over and said my air conditioner only works on High and a resistor for $60 would fix that so I told him to go ahead.
Of course, I knew my A/C only worked on high but I hate going to garages.

uusue, I was asking about you, how are you feeling?
better, annie, thanks! still not 100% but should be fine for tonight
You will. May I ask if you are taking Cipro?
I am.
Yes, that works for me too. You will definitely feel better tonite. If there is a next time, (I hope never) ask the doctor for Pyridium..that will ease the pain while the antibiotic kicks in.
Doc's office just called; they cultured the bacteria and the cipro should do it.
good!
they offered me the pyridium but i declined - it wasn't that bad and I like to know the antibiotic is working
I am glad you feel better.

1st word not accepted today: mnx is a tailless cat
Apparently, Enable considers manx a proper noun.
Why breeds of dogs are acceptable (terrier) and breeds of cats are not, I have no idea. Enable is schizo.
stuck at 87 hope lickety is awake
bty -- did I say hello? good morning, everyone :)
hello cybernan
hi again, all!
red boxes of doom - BBL
just had to reload the page but seems ok now...
The internet is melting.
it's actually not bad here yet, this morning's storms cooled things off
We are at 97F, feels like 113F.
yeah, that was how we were all week, now it is 72 (nyaah)
it is 99 at my dad's, though
Amazing fact I read: Heat is the number one weather related killer. I think people underestimate what it can do to your body, and how quickly.
only 141 words today?
I agree. We had a heat wave in Chicago a few years ago that killed a lot of people (I don't remember how many but it was hundreds or thousands)
we have been heat waving the last week
I think that heat deaths are less spectacular than other kinds of weather-related deaths so they don't make the news unless there really are a lot of them
That's probably it Sue. It's amazing that it ranks above hurricanes, tornadoes and the cold though. I never would have guessed that.
According to Wikipedia - The 1995 Chicago heat wave was a heat wave which led to approximately 750 heat-related deaths in Chicago over a period of five days.[1] Eric Klinenberg, author of the 2002 book Heat Wave: A Social Autopsy of Disaster in Chicago, has noted that in the United States, the loss of human life in hot spells in summer exceeds that caused by all other weather events combined, including lightning, rain, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes.[2][3] The heat wave heavily impacted the wider Midwestern region, with additional deaths in both St. Louis, Missouri[4] and Milwaukee, Wisconsin,[5] as well.
well, I have about maxed out on the number of hot days I am willing to put up with - and I can type this here because Enable doesn't think that maxed is a word :-P
thanks for looking that up, wv!
Chicago has changed its policies as a result - they have a lot more cooling centers now, people are encouraged to look out for their neighbors, and the electric company can't cut off service during heat waves even if you have been delinquent
just back from a trip out west. Had to wear my fleece or sweat shirt each day. They had record snowfalls so there was still much snow around - 4th of july two ski areas reopened for the weekend. Saw people packing in skis to other areas Then came across the midwesdt in the heat and certainly wished to go back
We had a bit of a heatwave a few weeks ago. Two policedogs died as a result of being locked in a van. The guy that 'forgot' about them was chief dogtrainer for the Metropolitan Police. It was the second time he was involved in a dog death. They picked him up and he jumped from a moving car and was found later having tried to commit suicide.
I'll bet, wv!
deeha, that is awful! He certainly should have known better.
ge
I have gotten into huge arguments with people on message boards about people who "forget" animals and children in cars. I don't for one minute believe this is a case of forgetting.
oh man.
people who "forget" are bad enough, but then there are those who "run into a store to pick up a couple of things" -- hard to figure . . .
no, there legitimately are parents who have forgotten and their kids have died and they are SO devastated. it usually happens if there is a change in routine, where the normal day care drop off is happening differently or something, and people are so much on auto-pilot...
I used to work with someone who ran into the store, leaving his sleeping infant daughter in the car. The claim was that the baby was colicky and waking her would start her crying. He got arrested for it.
i think awareness has been raised big time -- people are more observant and are reporting these incidents more often
Hursh, THAT is what I respectfully disagree about. There is something much more going on than "forget" when someone claims "auto pilot" and leaves a child in a car.
any parent who lives a child in the car is guilty of negligence no matter what the reason!
i don't even care if it is a new routine or a new baby, parents should put something in the front seat to remind them they are in the car!
even Maine is hotter than hell!
Greetings from a cold, wet, miserable Ireland!

how's the bicycle race?
the race is wonderful! A 3 week painless French lesson plus lots of beautiful scenery and exciting finishes
I love the internet! When I think how wary i was of it when it first began. . . .
all of a sudden I had two absolutely empty hours. This site is very "attachant"
Hi everyone
hello seaspray. How are you? I'm been incognito for 8 days
I am doing well ruby although I still have my moments :)
Why have you been incognito?
(((Sea)))
attachant? i don't speak french
lost my WiFi for a week
Hey Molly
pretty good at sign language but it is hard to use on line
hi sea
same as English, appealing
sort of
plus a little addicitive
Oh my ruby, were you going through babble withdrawal? Hey jmc...my pool is 92 degrees, unbelievable
bwahahaha
definitely withdrawal and mail, too
a friend of mine is at a lake in up state ny where the water is ALWAYS too cold to swim in swimming
it's really cold and rainy here but we needed the rain
Lake Annecy is 55 degrees all year

it would n't be here ruby
it is scorching here and calling for the same tomorrow...I worry about my parents as they do not have A/C...and my Dad has heart disease
I know people who swim across it, a mile! They are nuts
are they close enough to invite over sea?
Oh Sea, that's not good for older folks.
swimming a mile is nuts enough
yes, but my Dad is so old fashioned he would not do it
it's a couple and they have someone follow them in a boat
he wouldn't come over and visit his beloved daughter for lunch tomorrow?
toed
whoops
No...he will stay in the house or go to his farm...back and forth, farm to house, house to farm all day long
sorry
*gives ruby a get out jail free card in honor of coming back*
Although he does want me to come and pay his real estate taxes for him...Think I will wait til Sunday when it cools off a little...lol
thank you
hi, ruby!!
tell him to bring them to you!
Molly have you had any rain today?
I am just sticking my head in for a minute, came to my office to finish my talk - now to check it out in the auditorium
((((RUBES))))). How lovely to see you!
good idea jmc
hello sue. It's funny, away for a week, I really missed this!!!!
Hey soodle
what you aren't going outside with the telescopes? :-(
hi to everyone else too, sea, jmc, soodle, molly (but I've seen you all more recently than ruby)
did you get my letter {{soodles}}
<==can always solve other person problems
Hi sue
they will, jmc, but not until it is dark :-P
<==can rarely solve own problems
toyed
Hi Soodle, Hi Sue, Hi JMC and Ruby.
Hey Sea and everybody else! I was so glad to see Ruby I forgot to say hi to everyone else!
I guess I had better go to bed. Ruby is up to her old habits.... :(
:D
Sea, no rain. It looked like it might for a while, but so far, nothing.
<---loves soddle
the program is: I give a reasonably short talk about telescopes and how they work (with lots of snappy visuals); they get to assemble their own telescope from a kit; they go up to the observatory to use the "big" telescope (we have a 14" reflector)
same here
Soddle!!!!! Rubes.... go to bed!
but my talk is at 7 pm and it won't be dark until 9
we have rain, roses, tomatoes and figs and almosdt mirabelle plums
maybe a should turn on the light
and I only have to stay for my part of it, which is good because I am still feeling a bit under the weather, although better than yesterday
Sue, so glad to see it was an 'alls well that ends well' scenario with your son and his ex.
anyway, hi and bye, all, now I need to see how my talk looks on the big screen :-)
maybe tomorrow somebody could fill me in. I've missed lots of news, I'm sure....
ah yes, soodle; it isn't quite over yet - for one thing, we don't have the offer from the state's attorney in writing - but things are looking about as good as possible at this point
ruby, if I see you tomorrow I will give you all the details :-)
now I really am off, at least for half an hour or so...
{{sue}}
bye uu
Bye Sue. Take care ((()))
Hey JMC - How you doing?
hey soodle how are you
you and ruby are both up and running!
good night everybody
(((((((Rubes))))) I am delighted you are back in Babble-Land! Good night. X
goodnight ruby
I still can't get my poor husband wirelessly connected, though, maybe tomorrow
Yup, JMC, all good here. And you?
my computer died and then my laptop so i went out and bought a new computer so of course my computer came back to life except the shift key
but it is on the way out so i am glad i bought the new one before it's final demise
did you buy a desktop or laptop jmc? I need a new one for work and am thinking I will just get a laptop
a laptop--that is what i have gotten for my law office for the last several years
howdy everyone:)
Bloomin' typical! But best of luck with your new 'puter. My son turns 21 in August, and I am desperately trying to figure out a way to afford to buy him a laptop... If I don't pay the butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker, I just may do it.......
ahhh, think I will do that
then if i ne** it on the road it is easier than copying files etc.
Hey crossy
good thing they are so much cheaper these days
hi crossy
((Crossy)). Hi! :-)
Yes they are
i got a fairly fancy laptop and it was $800
When I think about buying them for $3500 for a stripped down model....
what brand did you get
i got dell in part because the founder of dell was a conscientious objector during vietnam
but mainly because they are good computers
I have been looking at prices, and I can get a very very basic netbook for €200. But my young lad is not a computer geek, and would only be using a computer for internet use.
The one I use here at home is a Dell and am thinking Dell for the office as well...been through HP's, Acers...
bought daughter a Dell for graduation to take to college 7 years ago and it was a good one
ah well then a netbook is the way to go. I used mine in Kenya and was very happy.
hello all -- I just got this eamil and thought you might all enjoy the link: Ever wonder what the cockpit of the Shuttles looks like? You might find this overwhelming, but it's just a few gauges, and you get to sit down, too! This is definitely a classic to save and remember how it was ten years from now. If we are still here... Follow the link below and click on the far right icon to go full screen and sit back and ponder the end of an era You can use your mouse to move around the cockpit as well as just watch it rotate. Up and down will show you the entire upper flight deck. Hint: Drag your cursor for horizontal or vertical scanning and use your scroll wheel to zoom in or out. Enjoy. Bang it here http://360vr.com/2011/06/22-discovery- flight-deck-opf_6236/index.html
hi jilli
I guess I should tinyurl that link -- just a minute...
I have seen it in person jilli...very interesting
hey everyone, back from running errands
here you are:
hi jen
are you suppose to be out running errands already?
Oh Jilli, my proposed €200 netbook for my son's birthday pales into insignificance as I look at that link!!
Hi Jen
trying again: http://tinyurl.com/3ggyx6n
i am sure you son will like it better!
That's pretty cool Jilli, thanks for sharing it. Soodle, I have had good luck with Dell products, but our laptops are both Toshiba. No complaints about them either.
:-)
Which do you prefer Molly?
Oh thats good to hear, Molls, cos the netbook I'm looking at is a Toshiba!
I like my HP laptop ok, except for the Canadian bilingual keyboard, which is a bit confusing.
oh -- you're looking at netbooks.
one of the netbooks i have is a toshiba and i like it a lot
I was a bit apprehensive because it was so cheap.. erm...inexpensive!
Actually Sea, I don't prefer one over the other. Both brands have stood the test of time.
Thanks Molly
I'm pretty hooked on having a screen horizontal in front of me, so netbooks hold no appeal for me.
As I was searching for a netbook for his 21st birthday, I couldn't help remembering my own 21st. I got a digital watch from my parents.......My! How technology has moved on....
probably cost about the same too
I understand, it's like me and reading a book, don't think I could do an e reader
horizonal??
The 2-part, 45 degree angle of a laptop as opposed to it being flat in my lap.
Sea, I'm with you there! The feel, smell and experience of a book would be hard to replace.
especially at the beach lol
Molly -- are you thinking of a tablet (iPad)?
I have a Kindle, but don't use it much. I like real books a lot better.
Probably Jilli. Netbooks are the teeny, tiny laptops?
Except when you come out of the sea/pool, and your dripping wet, and drip all over the book, and the book disintegrates in front of your eyes!
Well, I imagine it's not very cool to drip all over an e-reader either. Snap, crackle, pop.
hmf -- "android" is ok in morewords but not here.
Yes, Molly, netbooks are the mini-laptops.
LOL Moll. True enough!
So, I understand lots of you guys over the pond are suffering from a heatwave?
pretty hot soodle...supposed to be 100 tomorrow again...pool water is in the 90"s...ugh
Hello...
Hi jellen
hello all.
Stats for the right E please.

ttfn, good people -- I have things to do. 62 left and may not have time to do much more.
yw. I've been having babble withdrawal. My computer still isn't hooked up
SeaSpray, I guess its a case of 'be careful what you wish for...'. The summer here so far has been nothing but clouds, rain and cold.
Bye Jilli, and thank you for that great link :-)
help with di6/21?
we've had those in the past soodle...don't care for cool summers but 90 would be nice lol
hi all :)
one who restricts food intake on purpose
One who is on a food program to lose weight Jen.
Yes Soodle, it's beastly hot here. Makes you move slow and feel sleepy.
hi again, all, presentation looks good :-)
Good evening everybody#
I've been moving in this heat. Bad timing on my part huh
maybe I will post it on my web page...
thank you, i couldn't see the r connected
I would love a cool summer. I'm not much on hot weather.
hi giant
MOLLY!!!! Come to Ireland! Cool Summers, good company....
we're certainly having a cool dull summer here - 13C today - should be mid 20sC
Hi Glant.... Same here :-(
it's not too bad here today, 86F although it is very humid (I think that is about 30C), but it is 103 at my dad's in New Jersey (39C)
Bring me a blizzard!
and why exactly is maxed not a word???
because Enable is way out of date
hmmpf.
OOOOh Captain Corelli's Mandolin is just starting on TV. This is probably the closest I am going to get to sunshine this year....
it doesn't even have spam
so, that's a good thing, eh, bichon? ;-)
but it has ne4/5....must be an older term than I thought!
It has yids, but not wops, go figure
actually it does have wops, sad to say...
I think there's some perjorative ethnic word it doesn't have
if a bra is known in slang terms as "over the shoulder boulder holders" would that make mens briefs "under the butt nut huts?"..sorry to those with delicate sensetivites and to any minors who may be lurking but i had to lol
And dego too Bich.
only you would say that crossy <ggg>
thanks for sharing what was on your mind crossy
;-) crossy
roflmao
it's spelled dago, molly (don't ask me why I know that...)

hello all, tech question. I have three windows open, babble, morewords and lickety list from the bottom of the page but I cannot get them together at one time. they all revert to just the babble screen, any help?
Not tech but have you tried re- sizing each one manually (usually click on the box right hand upper corner to minimise - then get your size holding down on the bottom left hand corner - a triangle of dots) hope that makes sense!
I have them miminized at the bottom
You need to get each screen up individually then get the size you want manually
not sure what you mean by the triange of dots tho
Try grabbing the bottom left corner with your mouse when the screen is on small
shoot! bottom RIGHT hand corner - sorry
size is not the issue, I can get more words and lickety to the right size. but when I click on IE icon to get babble back just babble shows up and not the others
I appreciate your help tho, lyn
Can't you resize Babble to be narrower?
what I am doing at the moment is pulling up lickety and looking at one part of a group of words ie. all the di words and then try to find them and then go to the next group, very tedioius. I have requested babble expert but have not received it yet
the size is not the problem.
New link to mended Babble Expert: http://r46.me/BabbleExpert2011 0410.zip
(grabbed from FMitch profile)
I will try that. thanks
Hey all... How is everything?
hi Red - very well - how is your recovery going?
for some reason that link to babble expert does not work for me:(
hey red, how are you. how hot is it there. it is over 100 here?
Really quite well Lynxxx, it would be extremely well, except I keep like a fool trying to run on my leg and it then hurts. duh.
Hi Peri! It is about 102-108 here, but thats pretty typical for us, but for you northerners, especially those without central air. wow.
patience is a virtue Red
Red, didn't you say that you weren't supposed to run until September? Did I miss part of the story?
the a/c is on high. but there are folks without a/c around
Sorry about that Peri - maybe Crossy will be able to help you - seems quite switched on with PCs
red, are you still available to play
Scramble?
Bye for now

Hello Lurkez!
HI, red and ruru
if she shows up.. I put the recipe in my profile.
hello ru, and everyone, just came in at the right moment
had a friend in for tea and chat, she just left
perfect timing flosey.
thanks so much, ru, for the recipe
hey agaom
do not abuse your legs and feet red,you will miss them when they do not work(trust crossy on this one) after work my feet swell up like baloons and my knees crunch when bent(10 years construction,25 years running/working at service stations)
again
this is the recipe I made and it came out great.. if you hve a meat grinder it helps.. or if a friend does that you can borrow it saves a lot of time.
Ooo la la, c'est chic recipe.
daughter has ru, she is making her own sausages, and she will be so happy to get this recipe
:P molly
mmm sausages....
I was disappointed that there was no Coke in it though. : P
I would have a nice Pinot with this too Flosey.. brioche toasts and Saint Andre cheese.. (don't get your chlorestorol checked any time near eating these though
What? No cheese whiz? : P
and peri,do not say elvis please..this weekend our town is hosting the international elvis competitions
or if you send some to Molly you can sub the Pinot for Coke
thanks ru, will indeed, and Saint Andre is my favourite cheese
yuk, lol don't drink coke
*note to self.. find a Mountain Dew recipe for Molly*
elvii will be flocking to our burg from all over the world
*imagines Crossie in Gold Lame*
we won't even think of cholesterol limits
lol ruru,we have tall elvii,short elvii,women elvii,kid elvii,short person elvii..it goes on and on
It's a joke Flosey. I mentioned a crock pot roast recipe that calls for Coke and Ru found it very peasant like.
that's good flosey..these are artery blockers for sure...lol
ah, well, I'd probably substitute a red wine
the favorite ruru seems to be the white jumpsuit
the 68 comeback special suit i believe
the streets are awash in black hair dye!!..crossy need a belt brb
not peasant like... Jerry Springer like..lol
Begging your elitist pardon, white trash like.
yeah sorta :P
*ducks*
peasant like?? well heaven forbid one would have to stoop so low to use a carbonated beverage in a meal recipie lol
hubby just came in - time to think about supper!
lets use spoiled grapes instead
lol
does anyone have a clue for an7 please?
*note to self: find Doritos Pizza crust recipe for Molly*

I'd like to see that too, ru.

Looking for a pizza crust that uses pork rinds.
lol lol
mmm pork rind pizza

Molly may have one.
mmmmm...chitlins and hog maws, can it get any better? hi, folks
pickled pigs feet, boiled cabbage and black eyed peas
howdy welki
(answers herself: yes, squirrel pie)
<-- eating from crossy's plate (i love that stuff)
what i really want is an authentic down south seafood boil
I couldn't eat squirrels.. they are too cute
'course, everyone should run for cover after i do :)
I can't even think of eating rabbit
they put all kinds of crustaesians,corn,sausage,veggies....m mmmm
Pork rinds are low carb. I run them through the food processor to make a "flour" then use it as a coating
hungry enough, you'd eat squirrel, or rabbit ...
I suppose welki, but would really have to be starving
lol! pork rind flour!!! i love it!! can you make a load of pig bread with it?
if i can find them, bzzn, i eat them, too .. diabetic heaven. cholesterol hell, tho (and no good brands up here)
how are they otherwise Bzz? lots of fats I'd tink
think
mmmm,pan fried pig bread....
carlee would be heaving bout now...
lol crossy..if it's bad for you .. you crave it..lol
No mare fat than potato chips.
more
ru, in a bag, there are good ones and not so good ones, like potato chips. the ones that are a little overdone are the best
I can imagine! I'm feeling a bit squeamish
is it ea or ee
Greetings babblers ... just joined in ... pig bread :-) My mother was from the south and you wouldn't believe the stuff we ate as a kid ... yuck okra
flosey, you can just say you feel oooogey *lol*
Greetings babblers ... just joined in ... pig bread :-) My mother was from the south and you wouldn't believe the stuff we ate as a kid ... yuck okra
i like pickled okra
when growing up,my mum used to fry bread in bacon grease, along with good old fashioned fry up english style
oragami, I love okra.
oragami, I love okra.
ok, will remember that one welki
hubby just brought me in a beautiful pink rose from the garden
MMM. Me too, welki. My mom puts up great pickled okra.
when a young fella,i used to tell my friends i was going home for tea time and they would look at me funny
i think the worst meat i ever ate was beaver meat (no wisecracks) .. very tough and stringy
yaa for floseys thoughtful hubby
wow welki, you must have a pretty strong stomach
i have had bear meat welki, very strong and pungent
morning all :)
(((MRP)))
uhm, flosey .. sign off now. a pink rose delivered to your hand and you're chatting with us? begone, woman .. romance is to be had!
Okra dusted with cornmeal and fried. Really good.
(((crossy!))) :)
I have had bear also, they tried to tell me it was like beef - I did not think so, was quite dry
<-- likes catfish fried in cornmeal with a home made blackberry/cayenne ketchup
Love fried okra
and snake,groundhog,gopher,crawfish,bison, moose,deer,porcupine..etc
hi, mrp
lol, welki
Don't like black-eyed peas either and had to eat them every New Years. Yumm ... but do so love catfish fried in cornmeal.
oh, your ketchup sounds interesting, welki
ohhh, i used to use those icons of yours, flosey, in some stained glass work
and always remember people,if needed, porcupine can be eaten raw
raw porcupine with ketchup??
i can try to find the recipe, flosey, but it may take a day or two. it's been years since i prepared it
they are so beautiful, aren't they welki
for you, mrp, with vegemite
well,the ketchup is an option
you would like my icon then welki :)
i have a box of them (those icon things) in the basement :)
and on that note, my dinner is ready ... later, folks!
ok, I'll be watching for it welki - blackberries grow wild here, have lots of them on the property
see ya welki! :) enjoy the beaver
welki, I will pass on an email to you if you like... what is sold in wal-mart in china
flosey, you wanna make a shirtload of money?? package them, iratiate them and export them here!
wow, I sure could mrp, we freeze them on trays then vacuseal them, make jam, etc, even a type of port - or whatever you'd call it.
darn, now I feel like raw meat with vegemite on it!
must go, time to work on supper, start by making scones for a raspberry shortcake dessert
bbl
see ya flos... and enjoy!
hi all
howdy jmc
am on the keyboard without a shift key again
hi jmc :))
you have no shift keys at all??
use the on screen windows keyboard if you need a shift key in the interm
if we are talking about worst food ever it would have to be the chicken i ate in kenya
well they are there mr. p they just don't shift
kenyan chicken??
too hard crossy
pointless shifters
my teeth bounced off the meat it was so old and tough
worst food ever is chilled monkey brains in greece
they were trying to be nice to the white folks
i think it is in greece
well, that is just vomitous!
let me check
but i will say head cheese came a close second
but okra if it is pickled or fried is heaven
i am sorry those of greek decent..it is india that serves up chilled monkey brains'
and i have only missed one year in my life without black-eyed peas on new years--i was in california and could not find them for love nor money
that is more logical cross since there are monkeys in india
and indonesia
nasty little brutes like rats
i now travel with dried black-eyed peas if i am have any chance of being away from home on new years
worst thing I ate (in my minds eye anyway) was duck tongue... I was eating it to be polite and it was ok, but geez! a plate full of those looks ick!
wow you have to kill a lot of ducks to get a plate of them
they do in hongkong jmc
that figures what with peking duck and such they probably have a lot of tongues let over
ok,lets talk good food now..
fried okra hahaha
slice tomatoes with basil and olive oil
crossy, have been looking for your email addy... will just use message in FB?
many options
i would kill for a good cornbread recepie

crossy ... I have a good cornbread recipie I will send via email
hello my peeps
ok, sent... enjoy that smorgasboard
hi lil :)) !
MrP did u have a nice anniversary?
* 1/4 cup oil * 1 egg * 1 cup milk * 1/2 teaspoon baking soda * 1 cup cornmeal * 1 cup all-purpose flour * 1/2 teaspoon salt mix the dry ingredients and then cut in the oil --i usually use the oil to grease the cast iron skillet first--then scramble the egg in the milk and add mix until mostly mixed put in cast iron skillet and oven at 350 and cook for about 30 minutes or until done
HI lil*monkey
hi lil
Tha tis like my cornbread recipe. Except I cook mine over high heat on the stove top for a minute or two before throwing in the oven.
Hi Ori gimmie
hi lil~! I haven't had it yet! the anniversary happened, just not the celebration!
:-)
not a bad idea for getting a crisp ed88 bzzn
well hope it's a wonderful celebration, MrP
Hi everyone
hi Annie
Mine similar but uses buttermilk and some corn kernels
Hi lil*
i mean ed4/7
here's my recipe for cornbread: open the box of Jiffy mix and follow the directions
i some times use buttermilk but don't always have it to hand
blech lil
jiffy mix has SUGAR in it
well don't eat any of it then
sweet cornbread, yuck!!
trust me i always ask if the cornbread has sugar in it
i put honey on it after it's cooked
of COuRSE sweet conrnbread... yall are weird
my mother -- and my grandmother called that yankee cornbread
and it IS!!! LOL
now that i don't have milk around much i keep the small milk cartons with straws for kids and use one of them for the cup of milk
I thought southerners put sugar in every thing.
not cornbread
exaclty Bzzn
honest we never put sugar in anything except tea and desert
jmc is soooo right
asterick links arms with une asterick
You mean you put tea in your sugar.
but we put CHEESE in everything! lOL
and butter.. . .or back fat
not me personally i always drink it without sugar but i know enough to ask if the tea is sweet when i am in the south
Well, time to see how the dinner cooked. We're having left overs. Well, really a freezer dish that I made two of and now it's time to use the second batch. In any case, eat well and enjoy for evenings. (Or morning as the sunshines.)
sweet tea is everywhere
what the hell is cornbread?
*Joins Lil for sweet tea and cornbread with honey*
sweet tea and fruit tea abound!
i remember one winter asking for ice tea at a mcdonalds in ny and they looked at me like i had grown a second head
see my recipe below mr p
lol jmc!
now, if you had asked for a Long Island Ice Tea.....
Well New York, that's a whole nother ball of wax
i am happy to have honey with my cornbread for desert just no sugar in the recipe
lol mr p it was lunch
I'm so excited -- tomorrow one of the rescue dogs I'm transporting is a 85 lb mastiff!! can't wait!
ty for the cornbread recepies
now you can get iced tea everywhere
does that wax have stringy, hairy, scary things in it?
how cool une
yw crossy
dessert has two "s"
my mother used to take leftover cornbread, soak it in buttermilk and eat it for breakfast
on ya une!!
desert, dessert, dezet ...
that was big in my mother's house too orgami
after tomorrow he'll be my icon :-)
buttermilk I know ... good stuff
sorry i never said i could spell hahaha
i have a good joke for you jmc
okay mr p
TEACHER: Glenn, how do you spell 'crocodile?' GLENN: K-R-O-K-O-D-I-A-L' TEACHER: No, that's wrong GLENN: Maybe it is wrong, but you asked me how I spell it!
lol exactly
if an e has a long sound when there is another vowel only one letter away why doesn't desert spell the sweet stuff/
well, better get myself prim and pretty for my anniversary lunch today~! Lickety just asked me on a date :)
how nice mr p have fun
Have a blast, mrp!!
see ya all at flip :) enjoy your day in the heatwave or the treacherous rain... whatever you happen be in! bye!!

Feeling better Sue?
I am, molly, thx!
re-hi (is flosey still here? ohhhh, flosey, i found the recipe!)
Glad to hear it Sue. Sometimes, it feels like forever waiting for those antibiotics to kick in.
What recipe Welki?
they seem to be working well, molly, thank goodness!
for blackberry ketchup (or catsup) - to serve with catfish fried in cornmeal
all my cookbooks are in the basement, but i found it pretty fast
I love fried catfish. Not sure I would go for the sweet and sour ketchup though. I know plenty of people who would like that, however.

hi everyone
hi, lu!
hi lu
babbling to avoid school work
whoooohooooo UU!!!
hi everyone!
hi lb
hi doxy!
molly, who said sweet and sour? only a little bit of vinegar in the recipe, it's deelish
hi, lbd and doxy and welki!
I think the fried catfish sounds great!
hi UU, hi Welki, hi Moly
Hey LBD. Welki, I would probably try the ketchup. Who knows, I might just like it. : D
I think the ketchup sounds good. If it is anything like huckleberry vinagrette it would be great
it's now in my profile .. if anyone sees Flosey, please let her know
molly, leave the vinegar out if you don't like it - just use the product a little quicker
and psssst ... in a hurry, just add 1/2 tsp. cayenne to a jar of blackberry preserves, heat it up and *voila* cheater's ketchup!
I read that as 1/2 cup of cayenne and almost fainted. : D
but the real recipe doesn't take long, so unless you'r ready in a hurry or don't have the ingredients, no reason to shortcut
hot stuff!
ready = really (sheesh)
and for the catfishaphobic, it would probably be great on any solid fish like cod or haddock
sounds really good welki
my take on new recipes is, what's the worst that could happen? *lol*
i guess the worst that could happen is that i kill the chog
lol
You didn't kill the chog Welki.
nope, checking out the recipe, sounds really good!
brb
a little tiny bit on top of a cracker with a white crumbly cheese would be nice
mmmmm, sounds good
you could substitute distilled vinegar, i presume
sure .. just not anything stronger than cider vinegar
b
I wonder if it would work with elderberries? I have a gazillion elderberries.
this recipe looks awesome.....can you seriously substitute it for catchup? Say for fries too?? Love the cracker idea...!!!!
sue, I would bet you could use any kind of berry - raspberry, black raspberry, etc
maryte, it would be good on some meats, too - maybe lamb or pork chops
but i don't think i'd use it on fries or a burger .. i am a purist in that regard *lol*
mmmm - I'll have to try it when the elderberries ripen
I would think pork chops or roast would be good
Hi all, especially doxy. I haven't seen you in ages! How are you?
try halving the recipe for the elderberries, so you don't waste much if it doesn't turn out well
hi jacula, doing pretty good
hi, jac!
Elderberries aren't in season here in UK until about September.
oooooooooo........lamb!!! I am going to make this....please leave it up for a while?? with cheeses.......
it will probably be close to that when mine get ripe, they are just starting to form
leave it up? hahahahaha ... it'll be ages before i remember to take it out of the profile!
Mary - lamb, one of my favourite meats, is a bit of a sore point with me here in UK at present. The price is very high and likely to stay that way, so my butcher tells me.:-(
hi shoo
btw, this is one of my most awesome cookbooks. in another life, i collected them and spent a LOT of time cooking
Fireworks
Well done, Doxy!
yay, doxy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
whoooo hooooo DOXY!!
hi jac
Hi lbd.
mmmmmmm lamb *cleans drool off the keyboard*
well, time to finish up pretending to straighten up the kitchen .. g'night everyone!
bon appetit!
night, welki
I'm really hungry right now. Everything sounds good
If you've got enough elder trees around, don't forget to take the flowers to make elderflower cordial.
night, welki!
howdy
Goodnight, Welki.
.*..*.*.*DOXY.*.*.*.*.
lbd are we skyping or not?
Night Weiki!!
too late, the flowers are done, I'll have to look up a recipe for next year, though - I have elderberries sprouting like weeds all over my yard (the birds must like them)
dinner is here = see you all later!!!

wanna skype, shoo?
Can't see any sign of greenfly or blackspot on them, lbd, last year's or not!
yea
I know 'wanna Skype' means 'want to chat privately' but it still sound faintly porno to me! LOL
it's been so wet here, we barely had a spring. so the plants are all late in blooming.
I can't find my Skype, which is a nuisance, nor remember my user name, which is a double nuisance, since both my kids are abroad at the moment.:-(
Jac..hahaha...agreed about "wanna Skype".
Hi Molly. Yes, it does sound kind of 'rude'.:-)
Lbd, my roses are not doing well this year either.
My roses rarely do well, since my garden has become a sump in the past decade or so, home to fungi, slugs, snails etc.
Oh Jac, what a shame.
Molly - I still grow a few, but other plants do well.
As for my garden becoming a sump, that's mostly down to people paving their drives over to park more and more cars on, council not cleaning drains, ditches and rivers as often as they should. It resulted in 4 house floods a decade ago, so the council, having being stung financially by that, are a little more vigilant now. Though they do seem to be slipping again in the past couple of years.
I've noticed that they've gone back to the old penny-pinching way of sending a chap out on a ride-on mower to cut grass verges etc., but not either getting him to rake the cut grass up and take it away, or sending out another chap with him to do that. The result of that is that the cut grass ends up going down the drains when it rains and blocking them eventually, causing floods.
But the council is only concerned about hw much it can get away without paying for on this year's budget, and not what the getting away with might lead to.
try coke on your roses molly
ruru - coke? The drink or the drug??
the soda
it works on everything
Coke, the drink/soda - rots teeth, cleans drains, cleans toilets etc., but I had no idea it was a plant food!
works? as in making things sticky sweet?
It's not Jac. Just more white trash comments directed my way. Night everyone.

i remember a night when i was signing off and lynxx made a remark about what an idiot i was --not exactly her words
for a while i worried about it then i thought what the heck who cares question mark
Yep! and the written word does not always convey the spirit of what is being said
on the other hand i offended br one time and he left in a huff--i was new and panicked but now i figure whatever
