AR 6/7
wow diz, wtg, don't have a word yet!
wtg diz
flosey, your icon and writeup are so interesting and personal -- thansk so much
diz 6/18 and 7/28 for the AR?
yes
all this "calling " is SO boring!
ty jilli, love your dahlias
nbt, nbs
now i have to figure out the other two lol
thanks, flosey
CA 4 6 7 5
yes, jilli, it's boring, so I don't even think of looking there
ca 4, 5, 6, 7, 5 mlf... :)
the "calling" is also distracting and unnecessary when Lickety has so kindly provided us a list, so I shall close the chat -- go ahead and enjoy, those who like it.
ty jili we will
niters sis!
thanks for the backup, erda
but realise, callers, that there are others you spoil it for
dee i enjoy the chat dont you
nbt
you don't chat, you just throw out stats

this grid is moving rather quickly
I am slowing at 82 though... hi josh
hi volley..slowing at 101..this not calling stuff is hampering me
I am still calling stuff... hi dart
never used to be an issue ... how I like to play...
I like it when peeps call, cos I don't like going into Licketty's till the last minute
so am i...same as calling a volcano or goose...or someone basically spelling out a word to someone
agreed
so if the plural of ce6 is ce5, why isn't the plural of ca7, ca6
someone says be+cross letter plus a certain vowel etc...might as well spell the word
agreed diz and dart... like to see how far I can get with chat help before I touch lickety... was how it was played when I first started here...
good question josh
I find it very easy to ignore chat
me too erda on days I want to play alone ..
yep...when I do I don't tell everyone else I am
lol dart, I just lurk...
like i just was lol
i like when ruru says...dart are you there?
I always lurk lately - come here to relax - dont need drama :)
and hi all
that always makes me laugh
nbt & nbs
too many people come her tipsy... that is when most of the drama occurs
100 down -- enough for me tonight -- see you tomorrow :)
agreed....and the few times when the list is later or not at all...most people wouldn't finish if the chat wasn't there
wtg flosey!
well done nan, I'll probably be in tomorrow too
true dart
i usually just lurk because I can't chat and look at the same time...not for any other reason
and hi
btw have you had many new storms in your new town, dart?
Yeah I see nothing wrong with good clues here - we all need them once in a while
hi vash
had a few close by today..we had about 5 drops...and it still hit 101...33 times so far this summer
over 100 here again today
what a little sweetie, saphyre - and the pup too
we finally got over 70 today...it's been so cold
it has sure been a nasty stormy one... 114 heat index Sat and 99 degrees...very nasty
went down to the local pool a few days back...took a dip...the water was almost hot...not refreshing at all
I have ar 8... anyone have the other 8
That is my grandaughter - she turned 1 two weeks ago :)
when we don't have lickety's I sure do appreciate Dee and others who supply list when they finish
not yet dee
ty flosey very sweet
congrats on the grandaughter bday saph
thank you :)

Dart you near me - temps sound familiar
the low 2 nights ago was 84 lol
yuck dart...we have only had 2 80 plus degree days this summer...most in the high 60s
nope saph....KS
I hate the high temps and humidity...hurt worse than in the winter
we're finally getting some lovely summer days
vash you must be in WA or OR
seems most of the country is suffering with the heat
washington
I think everyone else east of those two are very hot
Dart your kitten looks exactly like my tinkerbella did as a kitten
yeah..i'm headed to chicago early september to take my daughter back to college. i hope the weather is good then
we all need to come see you then flosey :)
I'd love that Dee - just say when
stats for E in first column?

:)

ty dart
nbt
tink is 8 now but still a cutie LOL
ours was so small when we got here....long tall kitty now
Tink is still smail - but a bit plump :)
34 left listless and 14 are 4's...not seeing them..try not to use the list...last 5 puzzles haven't
isn't it frustrating, dart, when you can't find a 4
wtg dart... 43 left here
DART!!!! (((many hugs)))
phant attitude conduits

hey all!!! *scattering choclits willy-nilly*
nice dart...keep trying...i still have 11 4's left myself
I love 4 letter words...but sometimes think I'm going blind

Ok back to lurking - good luck everyone
hey stid

wtg
i've got three
oh! NBT!
hi ru
still looking..want to use that iest so badly
dart did you find the 2nd 8?
nope or your ro7
thanks for the choclit stid-
hey sammysmom! nice icon of the "rose patrol" -- we have a nice young buck and a doe in our neighborhood. *sigh*
start with man's name + my first initial and a bunch of vowels for the ro 7
thx volley
got it
thanks Dee
yw ro 7 def a short poem of fixed form, consisting of 13 or 10 lines on two rhymes and having the opening words or phrase used in two places as an unrhymed refrain.
is the ro5 an anglicized spelling of that I wonder?
thanks for the ro 7
was trying to pull something over to the ier or ies or iest's
my ro 5 has to do with music
the ro 7 is a "round" dance, and the music that is written for such a dance
oops. sorry the ro 5 is that
wow.. I only know about "square" dancing
ah, tom is home with stidkid #2 :-D hope the play went well today
always remember that one as the street name in St. Paul that they tore up to put in I-94
hope so, too, stid
still have a ro5 days celebrations every year
apparently not... he is in a foul mood. *sigh*
ruh roh
even tom says that he is not worth talking to (and my tom is as easy-going as they come)
*heavy sigh*
hate when that happens
yep. well he has been going really hard since before school let out. He is just exhausted. As much as he loves the acting, perhaps three plays this summer was a bit much for him. oh well, it's the last summer for this program.
hey stid you are in today's grid
that seems extremely tough...
se 6/21
:-D yes dart, and I _still_ don't count! LOL
sa 7/32
dart, do you have the aj 4/9?
nope..thx vash
i have 15 left...looking desparately for the last 7
it's a heavy schedule, but he really wanted to give it a go.
usually miss...asea euro..they are both phants today
go vashon go! (wasn't the weather the last couple days WONDERFUL????)
ca 7/36
29 left here one 8 and 3 sevens

8 4's here, too...wonder if they are the same?
ea 6/18 ea 7/28
just found a 4..a tu from yests grid
dang...have that one already
good for you! I got outside yesterday and collected over a cup of native trailing blackberries, some blueberries and 8 gooseberries from a critter-planted bush I didn't know about! LOL it was a fun trip through the garden
great finds
yeah, my blueberries are very tasty this year for being so cold
made a blueberry pie today from the garden + a few frozen from last year
re 6 x 2 so far
good for you flosey. i love blueberries
mmmm. we'll be there for breakfast, flosey! :-)
lol, that's what hubby is looking at for breakfast
I think resand should be a word
I was surprised to see so many of the native blackberries -- I know there are more in some of the less well-traveled parts of the yard, too, but... they are less-traveled for a reason!
I agree dee -- as in what painters of fine furniture (and boats) do
i don't have blackberries yet
they are still green
we have a few of the tiny ones but are almost overrun by the large ones
es 6/18
the himalayan blackberries are still probably two or three weeks away from good harvesting. IF we keep having sun.
i almost forgot the an 5/12 that works off of the no 4
think ours are all still hard little green nobs
do you have a sherpa for your bushes stid
vashon I had the an and missed the no!
ty vash missed that an 5
ca 7/36...got it from more words... i was desparate
may I have a clue for ca7 please, first one
is that the "sweets" word flosey?
sugar bits flosey
ca 7/36 think plural of goodies at Halloween
no, have that one stid and ru, there's another before it
ty don't have that one yet
ok, thanks all
found it... only short one 7 and one 8
go dee go!
didn't we have that ca 7 in the last week or so?
go flosey! *wonders what that ca is*
still monkeying
oooh. got it.
here's the def for the 1st ca 7/36 (in classical Roman boxing) a pugilist's gauntlet of bull's hide loaded or studded with metal
ca 7/36 ...think start of a salad dressing plus a man's name and plural
thanks vash
wish i could find it--- a little huint please??
thinking I need lickety for my last 16...
def at 1:02 sammysmom
i'm at 13 and thinking the same thing since i'm relying heavily on more words
15 now keep missing plurals
not getting the ca7
think augustus' title, or nero's ---
then end with first three letters of walrus tooth
ca + abbreviation for estate + abbreviation for United States
good clue stid
*sparkles* thanks flosey
tu 6/21
thanks you guys
sorry lag here didn't mean to clue over you stid
hm. tu 6/21?
*thinking*
plural of tu 5/12... one taught by another
the pupil in one-on-one teaching
thanks dee!
yqw
I must be more tired than I knew.

wtg! with list?
yes, with list
yeah.. I think I'm going to list now
I don't have the patience to stumble around when the list is available
I'm not clever enough to do it alone
me either usually
fireworks
whoo hoo flosey!
do you want any clues m9?
nah.. I've gone to list. now it's going quickly again :-)
I'm not very good at it, but I try
40 to go
wtg, so off to bed now, probably see you tomorrow?
I changed my icon - had 2 I wanted to use
probably!
this has always been one of my favourite pictures of hubby - he wheelbarrowed practically that whole pile of soil
over to the garden
wow! that's a big pile!
is it spouses today??
oh.. gardening
yes, gardening day - and that was so important to hubby that I had to include him
he is getting tired though - goes out and works for a bit, then comes in for tea and often a quich nap
awww. sweet
it was always his dream
gardening?
yes, growing our own - plus he sold some to the Co-Op - it's in my bio
mmmm I love gravenstein's too
I hadn't known of them until I came to SSI
I grew up in Washington. and my dad grew up in eastern washington on a farm.
ah, so you grew up with Gravensteins, lucky you
yes. had them in my lunch often.LOL
I really like granny smiths too
we used them back in Toronto
ah. and braeburns and gala
we did get gala in TO but didn't know braeburns
I love apples. but not the delicious varieties.
must get to bed, very tired now, goodnight m9 - luck finishing
golden every once in a while.
thanks
21 to go
I thought the delicious was the greatest as a kid - they were always in our Christmas stocking, but don't care for them so much now, perhaps the golden has more flavour? don't grow them here
yeah, the golden can be ok.. but not usually
crisp and juice, but lacking in flavour
must go, loved the chat
and it's nasty when you get a mealy one
ok. nite!
oh yuk
lol

hi sprite
hey cos!
how goes it
all well here and it looks like a nice grid. How are you?
struggling with the first ca7 but otherwise good lol
hehehe I can't help yet, only have 2 7s and 1 8 so far and that is a lot for me, this early in the grid, grin.
woo hoo found it! onto the ce words now
ah, you play organised!
yes. easiest way for me
I admire that. I play as random as can be.
brb
fireflies. Not a hard grid. Have a good day or night all.
morning all...
morning anyone?
I think I'm anyone. Not sure yet. Maybe after some more coffee.
morning molls
How are you today Carlee?
i'll live...u hun?
I'm okay. You'll live? Something going on?
bad news abuot my dad...
Oh damn, I'm sorry. Are they saying it's not long now?
his liver has failed... no longer able to eat...we are going down on monday i am hoping monday is not too late
i get things 3rd hand...i dont know
(((Carlee)))) I hope that you get to say your goodbyes. This stuff is very, very hard. Again, I'm so sorry.
its ok.i already made my good byes...
but thank you
he had really good quality of life this last year...and has gone downhill very quickly..he is not in pain...he sleeps... its really all you can ask for at the end
i have to let out a dog
so sorry about your dad, carlee -- love to you and your family
I lit a candle for you and your family Carlee. If you need an understanding ear, I'm always glad to listen.
Morning Une.
thank you molls and thanks une
i am..ok....my daughter i think is going to have the roughest time...this is the first "death" that she has known my son had his best friends uncle...but uncle doug..was "uncle doug" as far as he was concerned was his uncle and taylor is very pragmatic... "it is part of life" yes he will hurt...but his way of coping is very matter of fact
hey, molly :-)
i made my good byes..and have made my peace...but the hardest part will be never having my dad give me another hug...
and that is the part that really hurts...
I understand Carlee. I still miss hugs from my Dad.
They are unique, and special, those Dad hugs.
there is just something about a hug from dad.. that makes u feel as if the world cant touch you... i ...those will soon be gone
Well in my way of thinking, they still exist, they are just different. I still feel my Dad around me all the time.
we shall see
{{carlee}} sending you all prayers and love....
thanks car.ee
((Molly)) Good morning to you as well!
carlee...is there anything I can do for you?
just say a prayer it is easy for him...and that i have strength to engure what is ahead
endure* i mean
just..being here helps :)
Absolutely.
I kept a sweater of my Dad's, and wearing it is a lot like getting a hug from him. Prayers out for an easy transition for Dad, and strength for you , Carlee.
Wow, Molly! That is a great idea!
my dad has a ring...my mum gave to him..i really cant remember any part of my life that i have not seen it on his finger....even after he remarried..is his birthstone...i am going to ask on monday if i can have that...
That will be a special memento Carlee. Good idea.
dad doesnt wear sweaters...he was a shirt...and suit jacket kind of guy sometimes a sweat shirt but not often..
When my "stepfather" passed away, I sang at his funeral. We wore leis in honor of their love of Hawaii and sang the Hawaiian Wedding Song. At the end of the service, I gave my lei to his sister...she took it and put it on and said, "It feels like my brother is hugging me!" I loved that.
but it is a good idea molls
I have my Mom's Claddagh ring. That means a lot to me.
Car, that is a lovely memory.
i'll never be able to wear this ring....but maybe someday i will have enough $ to have made into a pendant...is a huge cobachon ruby...
it is lovely..i love how people make things..individual....
You couldn't get the ring re-sized?
its a man's ring....the cobachon is almost an inch long
it would cover the entire joint of my finger
Oh, I see. Well, having it made into a pendant would be very nice.
( back in the day rubies were cheap....mum gave to my dad before they were married..they were still in highschool at the time)
I think that something someone wore all the time carries a bit of their spirit in it.
That is so cool carlee!
I agree Molly.
yes..same... is why i would li ke to have it...but if he says no..so be it...
or my step mother..my step mother...i love her..but she can be,,,, difficult
Who would say no?
she could
Well, I hope that no one says no, and that the ring will be for you Carlee.
throughout this process i have needed to essentially make appointments to see hiim.. i have not been able to just..drop in
thanks molls
I will pray the same.
thanks car.ee
I will also send out a request to The Great Spirit that everyone in your family is their best self as they go through this transition. That can make things a lot easier.
good idea Molly. emotions run so high at times like these...grief can be so over powering.
thank you..both of you...
{{hugs}}
Just remember to lean on the people who love you and care about you Carlee. That is what gets us through things like this.
yea... i will... thanks
Ugh...Mom left the cellar open...again. Dante got out....again.
Oops. How hard is he to round up?
oh no
Same cat that got out about a month ago and ended up at the vet with the sliced up paw.
He will come back, but I don't want him to be out. We live on a very busy street and we have woods all around with coyotes and fishers.
oh boy....
open up a tin of tuna and set outside the door
I know she doesn't mean it. I have even put up signs at the doors that say "Please make sure door is shut tight", but about once a week...a door is left open.
When we first moved here last year, my other cat, Reilly, got out. Never saw him again. The kids and I would be devastated if we lost Dante. He is their best friend and follows them every where.
like i said..put out a dish of tuna...
Car, your Mom is having memory issues, yeah?
Got him.
Yes, Molly.
Date is now safely back inside.
yay...got him :)
Whew!
*Dante
Oh good, glad you found Dante. My Dad had Alzheimer's, I know of what you are going through.
Luckily, there is only one way out of the maze of cellars beneath our house. It comes out under our porch. If I figure it out in time, he is usually there, which he was. A few cat treats and he is now back in. This time it was easy!
THe most peculiar thing...he was there licking the paw that he had hurt when he got out before. Hmmmm....
morning all

is it not also super dry down mobil way? just heard they have not had rain in months, unless i have my area wrong
you're probably right
oh, well: "Tropical storm makes landfall, fizzles over dry Texas" -- apparently they won't get more than an inch or two -- coupled with the extreme heat, quite a summer . . .
ok gotta run -- two dog rescue transports today -- BBL byeeee *poof*
Good morning all
Hello all!
ta
Hi, all!
<--- is about ready to throw the router out of the window. Also my son.
Morning all! How is everyone today?
I am good thanks, Red! How're you?
How is everyone?
Hi, red! I am grumpy. How are you?
Very well!
Good!
uusue, sorry you are grumpy the router and your son, not so great.
How is your recovery coming along, red?
I'm doing well, back to work finally on Monday, a lot less pain. No running yet, but I wasn;t supposed to be yet.
well, I need a new router because this one is creaking under the strain of 3 computers, an Xbox, and 3 smartphones
that is great, red!
Yup, I'm in a good mood.
and my son has now lost two charging cables for his phone (which is the same as mine) so he borrows mine for the night but then forgets to plug his phone in. So by morning both phones are dead. This has happened two days in a row now.
<--- Tech idiot. Did not know smart phones needed a router.
Not the worst thing in the world but it is one more annoyance i didn't need.
for that you can throw son out the window, just a first floor window.
tier
oops,
you cna throw me out the PB window, but do it gently.
Molly, if the smart phones connect to the internet through wifi (rather than through the phone signal) it doesn't use up the data plan, so when we are home they are all on the wireless router.
np, red, I was too busy being annoyed to actually find any words, so that was helpful :)
thanks, I am just now making Blueberrie muffins, am in a rather chuffed mood!
ooh, sounds yummy, red!
See, I'm one of those people who just uses a cell phone for phone calls. I forget that people connect to the internet with the smart phones. Like I said, tech idiot.
Hi Babblers, Happy Saturday to you all, grumpy sue and chef red (-:
me too Molly.. kids have smart phones, not me..
Hi Aloy
.. just don't want the monthly access charges, but I am so amazed when I see all that they do.. and the I Pad.. wow

.. can't believe I missed the needle case! .. sips more coffee
i missed that one too..what is a needle case? lol

I believe it's a Brit term for pumped up.
et4.5 and the pl
thank you :)
really? ..
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define. php?term=chuffed
et4 is one of those "you'll only see it in a word game" words. : )
don't chew with your mouth full.. you get all chuffed up
on4 upon a time
He huffed and he chuffed and he blew the house down
thx for the needle case (and its plural) - I am just not seeing any words in this grid
.. passes some foglifter coffee to uusue
thx, aloy!! I sure need it!
I'm drinking fresh ground Dunkin. The best.

does anybody know what happens if a dog eats a wasp?
my Ruby is trying desperately to catch them
oh dear, ruby, i don't and would just as soon not find out :-P
i can ask Frank when he comes back from doing laundry, though, he knows a lot about dogs
I've seen cats eat spiders with no ill effects but these wasps are na***
It sucks for the wasp. But whether it hurts the dog depends on whether it actually has a chance to sting. Dogs will react like we do - either it'll be a local swelling, or the dog may have an anaphylactic reaction.
well if she succeeds AND if she has an allergic reaction, I have an adrenalin shot in the fridge, so I won't worry about it
maybe she will learn not to chase them, then?
For a light reaction, benadryl will do.
maybe....
I could just put it in cream cheese like everything else
she may be the prettiest dog in the world and the sweetest and nicest (but not the smartest)

The only way you can ruin beets (in my opinion) is to make 'harvard beets' BLECH!!

My grannies recipe uses spices in the vinegar base....I think you'd change your mind Molly!

Pickled beets are soaked in a vinegar/sugar brine. Some people add hard boiled eggs to them. Harvard beets are thickened with cornstarch or something. I agree . Yuck!
Thanks Habes. Now I understand the difference.

Hey, all. Could use a clue for the second ca7, please.
Hello Babblers. How are folks today?
NM. Got it.
Hey, wht.
Hi, wht and bea!
Are you melting, sue?
some, bea, it is 86 here (so not horrible)
some, bea, it is 86 here (so not horrible)
and my router continues to hiccup.
I'll take that!
Hi sue
I am, however melting DOWN due to router malfunctions, stress, and other things...
hi, wht!
but I am keeping myself together, more or less
{Sending mellow thoughts Sue's way}
I returned yesterday from almost 2 weeks in Hawaii. A great cure for stress.
sounds wonderful, wht! I have been to hawaii several times (had an aunt who retired there) but not in many years
It was beautiful. We did a bunch of sightseeing at the beginning but the last 3 days were spent on the beach in Maui, swimming, snorkelling and lying in the sun.
ahhhhhh.....
*Hands Sue a chilled glass of wine*
Sounds great, wht. Hubby and I are planning to go for our 30th in November of 2012.
ooh, nice, molly! just what i needed (being as I am not in Hawaii :-)
Any suggestions on what to see and where to go?
Wht, glad to hear that you and Mrs. Wht had a lovely anniversary trip.
Got so mellow that even the flight back was no problem.
I would say see waikiki first because when you first get there it will be wonderful; after you've seen more of the islands it will look a little tacky
Molly, it was a wonderful trip. We both enjoyed it a lot.
personally I find that Kauai is beautiful and lush
She has always liked the beach. I have found that I enjoy it a lot as well, as long as the water is warm enough you can actually swim in it.
I think we are going to Oahu and Kauai, but not positive.
Ooo TNana, what a nice thing to look forward to.
I also like the Kona side of the Big island (you can visit volcanoes) but perhaps that is the geek in me
We went to Oahu first, and had a day trip to the Big Island to tour the volcano, then ended with 6 nights on Maui.
Not sure how much time to take. Is a week enough, or do you think we should go for 10 days?
really, anyplace in hawaii is very nice
Lying down on floor, howling and flailing arms and legs in a total tantrum. Would SO love to see Hawaii.... :-) .....
if you stay on one island a week is fine but if you want to visit several, 10 days would be better
I am really looking forward to it, Molly. We've never really taken any "beachy" type vacations. Hubby isn't into it, but said he would go for me.
Our waitress at breakfast the last day said that she vacations on Lana'i because it is so much mellower.
TNana, with as long as it takes to get there, I would suggest taking as many days as you can.
well, soodle, I would love to visit Ireland!
We went to Alaska for a cruise and land tour and he loved that. I did, too, but want a warm weather trip this time.
and I haven't been to Lanai or Molokai but I hear they are both nice
*Hands Soodle a blankey and a pacifier*
It is hard to imagine a place even mellower than Maui.
That is true, Molly. We are in Montana - so not far from the west coast. Would probably fly to LA, spend the night, and then leave from there.
A pina colada would be better Molls.....
Molokai and Lana'i are both beautiful. We could see both of them from our hotel room. But we didn't get to either.
Everyone I know who has gone to Hawaii says doing the flight in two days is the best. Smart move.
Wish we could take a month and see all of the islands, but the budget won't allow it - ha!!
*Puts blankey and pacifier away. Blends a strong pina colada and hands it to Soodle*
Sobbing decreases to occasional blub....
We spent two nights in San Francisco on the way out which was nice. We had gone there on our honeymoon.
OMG soodle is here!!!!
Oh, wht... you old romantic, you! I am pea-green with envy!
(((((Rubes)))))
hi again, ruby!
*Sends Mr. Right in his corporate jet to pick up Soodle and take her to Hawaii*
We also got to visit one of my wife's cousin who lives on Novato which is just north of San Francisco.
It's nice to hear about the happily, long term married folks enjoying anniversaries.
((((Molls)))). Shaving my legs as I type!!!!!
don't hurt yourself, soodle!
LOL!!
Rubes - this is very late for you... Is everything ok?
My wife is the romantic one. But we both had a great time. And we enjoyed spending the time together.
just had my usual midnight snack, lumpfish roe and quail egg yoke. How weird and disgusting is that?
Many many more anniversaries to you both Wht. Sláinte
That's funny Soodle. Reminds me of Michelle Pfeiffer in "One Fine Day" shaving her legs and brushing her teeth at the same time, getting ready for a date.
yolk*
Its called multi-tasking, Molls....
I loved that movie, molly
Ruby, honey, you need to invest in better midnight snacks.
I'm a movie addict
ty Soodle. This was our thirtieth.
I think I'm cravnng both the salt and protein
it's ;like sushi without the rice, wasabi and seaweed
*Raises a glass to the romantic folks. They make the word a better place.*
PLEASE. No food talk. (diet started Thursday & resolve is beginning to waver now..... )
ah, yes, diet - I remember that....
Salad is so delicious. Don't you love salad? It's just the best darned food in the world.
I'll dri nk to that, Molly. To Romance, to happy marriages and to Wht & Mrs Wht! Cheers
if you atre all the icky things I eat, you would probably lose weight.
and celery! I just love celery!
se6 clue please?
Pass the lettuce, please...
I don't eat salad because the vinegar makes me perspire
absolutely, cheers to the wht's - may they have 30 more!
Now, for only $69.95 you, yes YOU, can get Ruby's Icky Food Diet! Guaranteed to make you lose weight, puke, or both.
se6 is a gathering of people where a medium speaks with the dead.
I like cooked lettuce, though,
Frank can't have vinegar, ruby, and puts lemon juice on his salad
30 seems to be the choice to go to Hawaii!
ty molly
I am looking forward to it Sue. Now if we could only do it without getting old in the process. :^)
that's a good idea, might solve the problem
Afternoon, hello again Sue, is the router problem fixed?
ah well - 80 is the new 40, I hear...
sometimes I eat avocado with lemon juice
ROFL Sue!!
no, red, they can replace ours with the same model (which I may try next week)
Nice.
Hi guys, nice day here
you can laugh, soodle, you're just a kid!
I do like Salad, ezpecially butter lettuce...
{{bichon}}
Hi Bich
or they can get me a better one but I would have to return this one first and it would take about 3 weeks(during which we'd be without the internet) - everybody vetoed that option :-)
Ooooh. I remember when I used to eat fattening food. (All of two days ago)
hi, bichon!
hello Bichon.
ah yes, butt4r lettuce, avocado, anchovies and blue cheese
things are nice here. Finally, a day with a breeze and low humidity
Hey Bichon :-)
how is your hip, red?
Lucky Bichon, we are very very hot here. the pavement got so hot today the dog refused to walk on it.
Anchovies are the spawn of the devil!
My Hip is doing GREAT.
Agreed about anchovies Soodle.
<--- used to like anchovies on pizza
I think avocado is not bad for you as long as you don't have it as a side dish with tacos and tequila shots
Although, we could use some rain. Pretty darn dusty
Hmm, maybe I should go on The Ruby diet. I wouldn't eat much, that's for sure.
I am going out for a bit now. I hope to be back later to finish.
cooked lettuce would do me in, I think
A friend of mine is going to Florida next week Red..... Can I tell him to expect wonderfully hot weather?
bye, wht!
Bye Wht :-)
it works, molly.
It is Hot, and humid. THis is about the worst time to visit Florida. So yes, Hot Humid, probably a bit wet.
98.1 with a "feels like temp of 112 F" currently.
I miss Miami's food and my job there, but other wise,, not
I was there in June/July a couple of years ago, Red. The daily thunderstorms freaked me!
Fireworks - yay!! Any clues needed before I go?
http://www.wunderground.com/US/FL/Cler mont.html
yay, nana!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THats the part of living in Florida that I love the rain and thunder and ligtening. sometimes its inconvientient though.
Woot woot Trents!!!! WTG!
With a lot of help from my friends.....lol
no slipping away with 36 to go, but it was nice to see my babble friends!
Take care all. POOF!!
((((Ruby)))) Sweet dreams, my friend!
Bye Ruby and TNana
bye Ruby!
Bye Trents :-)
hey all
(((Mama)))
Hi Stid, who is in the grid.
good night everybody
(what did you do to get in the grid, mama?)
hello stid in the grid.
just lucky I guess ruby -- thought you were turning in for the night?
LOL if my name ever counts for points, it will be because Dr G took pity on me!
*Tosses choclits at Stid before she quickly goes poof*
I'm not really here
Tsk. Why, may I ask, is eejit not allowed? Its part of the vernacular round these here parts!
of course... *looking behind the curtain to find ruby*
THANK YOU SOODLE! I thought that earlier but there was no one here who would have understood.
WHAT is an eejit?
it's a word in Brooklyn
It's the Irish way of saying idiot.
oh! LOL I woulda spelt it idjut!
to try and put myself to sleep I'm re-reading a great book which I'll send to Soodle after -- A Gate at the Stairs by Lorrie Moore
hi, stid!!
And as my Irish grandfather would teach you all: How do you spell willow wood? Dubloo aye duble ell o, double dubloo, dublow dee. : )
Oh fantastic, Ruby. I am in dire need of a good book. Thank you :-)
will send as soon as I finish
:-D
ROFL Molls. Spot on!!
hey sue!
the best I could do was marry a Kelley the first time; it's the closest I could get :(
The Irish have more fun
At Scrabs recommendation, I am reading "The Untethered Soul" by Michael A. Singer. It's an awesome read.
I am not reading for fun yet... soon though!
Tsk, tsk Stid, you know what they say about all work and no play. : P
and I am down to 23 now.
I'm reading One NIght in Twisted River, by John Irving. Not quite getting into yet, though. I absolutely adored The World According to Garp, Hotel New Hampshire and A Son of the Circus'.
oh, I looked at that, molly, and was thinking of trying to find it in the library - so it's as good as scrabs said, eh?
go, stid!
it's not that molly -- it's that my eyes can't take reading for very long yet! LOL I should be able to read again in a couple months
Hope your eyes are better soon Stid. Sue, it's a very good read on what makes us tick, and how to recognize the dysfunctional ones and turn them around.
hey all: in case anyone is interested, http://www.georgeharrison.com/ is streaming the entire concert for bangledesh movie until tomorrow night.
sounds like I could use it, molly!
Sorry to bore everybody about my diet, but..... I cooked a lovely Chicken Tikka Massala for my family this evening. I ate a yoghurt. I think that I should have automatically lost the corresponding amount of weight by NOT eating dinner tonight. (Thinking of lying down on the ground and howling and flailing again...)
hey jeff!
Soodle, I am hit or miss with Irving. I loved "A Prayer For Owen Meany" though. My mother-in-law met John Irving on an airplane once. She is a big fan of his. Not quite big enough though, because when he introduced himself by saying "Hi, I'm John Irving" she said "No you aren't, you asshole!" Ahahaha!
fireworks! last word was ya4/8
YAY sue!
okay, I am taking a break. back later!!!! *poof*
bye, stid!
and hi, jeff!
Wow, Molly. I would just Soooo love to meet Irving. I want to find out what happened to the characters after the books finished! And Woot Woot Sue!
After she made a complete eejit of herself, my mother-in-law and Iriving had a nice chat. She said he is a really nice man.
soodle, i'm not sure that not eating dinner is a good long-term strategy - can you make something that would work for all of you, then add stuff for the others?
I was thinking the same thing Sue. Deprivation while everyone else eats kind of diets seldom work for me.
Oh, Sue. The Soodle-blubber will sustain me for quite a while, believe me! Think of whales etc...
so you could have chicken with a bit of sauce, plus some veg, and the others could sop up the rest of the sauce with bread or something...
...or they could just be like my son, decide they don't like any of it, and go to mcDonalds or taco bell all the time...
Fear not, Babble friends. Soodle will not shuffle off this mortal coil due to malnutrition.
Not the point Soodle. Your body doesn't work that way. If it thinks it's starving, it's not going to burn fat.
well, I could live off my fat for quite a while too, but trying to do that tends to lead me to pig out after a while (which for me is a much bigger risk than malnutrition)
so i try to keep it moderate, and find things to snack on that won't totally destroy me (rice crackers, yogurt, fruit)
The diet started on Thursday. If it lasts till Monday, I will eat my hat...........with fries on the side!
right now I have some nonfat unflavored frozen yogurt from Trader Joes that is to die for (imho) - it is frozen but not at all sweet, quite tart in fact, and very refreshing on hot days! and about 1/3 the calories of ice cream...
anyway, I am off to put my feet up and read trashy novels - see you all tomorrow!!
<------------Sadly lacking in will-power :-(
*Passes Soodle a rice cake*
me too, soodle!! which is how i got this way = well, that and various injuries that kept me from exercising for a long time
I'll see your rice cake, and raise you a burger!
Anthony Robbins says if we re-train our minds to think that broccoli is delicious and luscious and we can't wait to eat it, we will think of broccoli like we think of chocolate. I think Anthony Robbins is full of it. : P
I agree, molly! although I do find that if I stay away from fried things for a while, I lose my taste for them - soodle's fries don't really tempt me
(on the other hand, neither does broccoli, unless you put cheese sauce on it)
Broccoli/chocolate..... Chocolate/broccoli..... Hmmm. Now, which would I really like?
If I can manage to stay away from sugar for a week or two, I find my cravings for sweets is minimal.
reminds me of when my ex said we had to cut back the raspberries in the garden to make space for the rhubarb - I told him the rhubarb could fend for itself, elsewhere if necessary!
Now I understand why he is an ex. : D
I don't actually have much of a sweet tooth but do love raspberries....
<------- Own worst enemy! Who started this conversation about food? Soodle! Who is obsessing about food? Soodle! Sheesh.....
well, here's Frank's prescription for eating healthy: Eat real food (not too processed), not too much, mostly plants. would work for me if I could stick to it.
and now I really am going to go read trashy novels. see you all later! really!
Craftily steering the conversationaway from the F word... Hows that son of yours doing, Sue?
Bah. Too late!
oh, hell, I am never going to get out of here, am i/
?
It's The Hotel California Sue.
anyway, he is ok, soodle, we were in court on Friday again and got the deal in writing
You can check out anytime, but you can never leave....
6-month continuance and then they won't prosecute, as long as he stays totally out of trouble
and eventually he can get it expunged from his record
Sue, I'm so happy for you. You've been through the mill!
and he is finally totallly disgusted and over the girl - he is still a bit shocked at how she is willing to say anything about him (many lies) if she thinks it might keep her out of trouble
Mill...grinds wheat...to make bread...back to food!
oh, hush, molly! no wheat at our house anyway :-)
This may not sound right Sue, but he needed to REALLY see her ugly side.
August 8 we are in court again to get an order of protection, then he and I are going to go visit my dad
her ugly side is pretty ugly, molly, and our lawyer was really able to tie her up in knots
*whispers - now I really am leaving!*
Uusue.... onwards and upwards!
In a way, I think it's good that he recognized how the "rescuer" in him can get him in trouble, at an early age.
*maybe if I sneak out quietly......*
You can check out anytime...........
*and now I am actually not here*
hey, sue and molly and soodle :-)
:-)
Sue...minimize your computer screen and back away from the computer slowly...there you go.
Bye Sue ((())))
hi and bye, une!
Hi Une!
Hye Une :-). Molly, are you an Eagles fan?
I'm actually in awe of any young person who learns to defeat that rescuer quality early on. It took me years. And yes Soodle, I am an Eagles fan. More so, a Henley fan.
hi all...
hey, carlee :-)
Hi Carlee.
hi une..molls
very sweet icon pic :-)
the cake...is caked... but for finishing touches
Aw, what a great smile your Dad has Carlee.
thanks molls...that was taken around christmas..he put on some weight after that...( thankfully as he is a rail there )
When is girlies birthday?
http://www.encoretheconcertband.ca/New /index1.html
this is the band he was in..excellent concert band
it was last weekend
he even played in the last concert fo the season this year...
Oops, I thought the cake was for her birthday. Hope it was a happy one.
it is...she was out with friends doing the teenager thing....
Carlee :-) Lovely to see you
hi soods :)
Oh nice music Carlee. I have it playing in another window.
the conductor is my old band teacher from highschool...
this spring they had a concert where they invited children and grandchildren to join the band
so my daughter got to play in a concert with grampa
Moll - I saw The Eagles on their Hell Freezes Over Tour here in Dublin. The music was totally amazing, but there was absolutely no rapport with the audience.Great gig nonetheless!
the whole fam damily came...was really nice
soods....if u EVER get to see Great Big Sea....go..amazng show..great music..and great raport
<---- showing her total lack of music appreciation -I never heard of them Carlee?
its ok...the canadian... but youtube them... they are a traditionalceltic/ mariner/ folk/ rock blend of a band
SOODLE! Go and watch this RIGHT NOW! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOw3w- 00Jqw
they are kinda borderline making it very big..not sure they ever will... not like the name bryan adams...
Wow. Sounds like the kind of music I like... heading straight to Youtube... (thank you Molly)
... They're from Newfoundland ... have about seven CD's out ... bunches of great songs ... very energetic show ... lots of fun ... ... but not too everyone's taste ... ...
... haven't done much for a couple of years now
very entertaining concert...u come out smiling
I am willing to be Alan Doyle's Mrs. Robinson if he should ever so desire.
i went to their last concert from last album
hehehe.... stand in line molls
:p
Blue Rodeo is another Canadian band that should have made it bigger than just in Canada. Never understood that.
... a few too many funny cigarettes ... and too much beer
Same thing I said about Alan Doyle goes for Jim Cuddy.
Really Dose? I would think that about Harmonium, but not Blue Rodeo. What do I know?
My brother worked as a family doctor in Newfoundland for about 15 years. He always reckoned that the Newfies were more Irish than the irish themselves. He may have been right...
Didn't a lot of Irish people end up in Newfoundland? That could explain it.
... ooh Harmonium! ... you're dating yourself with that group ... ... I still have three of their albums ... I'll have to go visit my daughter with one of them ... she's got a turntable ... I don't
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MD0XihI LQzk
this one live in concert
"Pour Un Instant" is the only song I can sing the whole way through in French.
... Newfoundland is a real polyglot of a place ... Irish Scottish Spanish Portuguese French English ... but these Great Big Sea is mostly of Irish decent I believe
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt9Iqa7 9vfU. This is my favourite Irish balladeer. Christy Moore. A gentleman, a scholar, and a good judge of whiskey. What more could a person ask for?
Not much Soodle, they don't make 'em like that anymore.
... I drove from Whitby to Vegas in '06 with my entire CD collection ... including "Cano" from Sturgeon falls ... singing "Au Nord du notre vie" ... ... I figure it's the first time the Rockies in Colorado have heard French singing since the LaVerendree's got there in 1750
OK I have returned yet again, I feel like I may be getting a cold. No appetite nothing tastes good...but yet I cna not sleep.
And I'm sure it was appreciated Dose. : D
Soodle, my favorite Irish scholar was John O'Donohue. That man was taken from us WAY too soon.
sounds like us in asheville dose when we went to visit scarlet...there we were on the top of a mountain ( shot guns going off in the distance to celebrate christmas morning)...in a hot tub..listening to GBS :D
... well the Ohio state police looked at me kind of funny when I blasted CSNY doing "Ohio" as I crossed the state line on my way home
*Passes some hot herbal tea to Red*
Red. I empathise with you, sorry you're not feeling well. But I am mad jealous of your non-appetite.
this si lovely soods
Soodle, you need to just eat some carrot sticks.
Oh, I'm glad ye like it. Christy Moore is a 'poet of the people'. And he can sing as well!
ANd not think about it...
See Soodle, it's that easy. Eat carrots and don't think about it. Ahahahahaha!
(Just joking Red)
i am on chocolate overload just making the cake...i am not sure i want food
milk chocolate frosting on sinfully rich home made choc cake....covered in milk chocolate shavings..then decorated with ferroro rochets, choc covered almonds and rolos...and then out of the top I have milk choc cookies, hersheys almond bars and twix sticking up out of it
Sorry. I can't reply to anybody. My mouth is full of carrots....
milk choco COVERED cookies
*Oh dear, water ALL OVER computer screen*
OK!! Thats it!!! Ban Carlee off Babble forthwith!!!! I object to this flagrant, blatent, flaunting of chocolate....
oh oh
<---- slinks off to corner and youtubes gbs
You will have to excuse Carlee. She wasn't here earlier when you were wailing about your "eating hardly anything" diet. *Mops up more water from the mouth full of carrots comment*
<----- would also slink, but cannot, due to gaining 25lbs justs reading Carlees post!
<---- sitting by self..." itss the end of the world as we know..and i feel fine"
Today, I put a lovely lettuce leaf on a plate and put two drops of vinagrette on it. Then I added three slivers of carrots and one almond. It was lovely and I haven't thought about eating for hours. There, 25 pounds from the c-word post is gone.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7rMlGq G_MY&feature=related
carlee's fav gbs
MollyL saves the day!!!!! Moll! your a genius. My jeans feel looser just by reading your post. Thank you :-)
It's all in your head Soodle. *Blesses self for flagrantly lying to help a friend*
ROFL.
Soodle seriously, maybe we should both go live with Ruby. Those quail egg yolk and roe snacks would put me off of food for weeks. And the anchovies.
here is a bit of their concert ..i saw the same in my time...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGcKK2M g8DE&feature=related
u get to see how they intereact in concert soods..and after this carlee shuts up about gbs
---carlee in a decent mood now :)
Great Big Sea is a great mood booster. : )
Wow Carlee - they are good!
molls i made more beets today...oh man..they are sooo buttery tasting.. and sweet... is almost like eating candy
they are a fun concert..u start bouncing and dancing and singing from first moment...and dont stop until after the 2nd or 3rd encore dependingon the crowd
And so, the wheel turns... back to bloody food!
beets,ugh
beets...in vinegar... salt..pepper...taste buttery..no butter added
hello all
Soodle, beets are not food.
it is either food or sex here :)
high in fibre...
Hi Peri
i could eat these every day and poop purple for all i cared
food is sex here peri
haven't tasted a beet in years and that is ok with me
not here, carlee
that depends on what you are eating carlee..lol
( peri should scroll bac to my cake description )
haha, ruru
I like beets.
Cymbal riff for Ru!
beets will stain the sheeets
Feckin' typical. Soodle goes on a diet, and all of a sudden, food is sex!
Story of my life!!!
food is not sex. really. I know the difference.
Soodle, have you considered staying on the diet and becoming a sex addict? Kind of replacing one addiction for the other?
that sounds like my Kind o diet
ce 6/24 anyone?
burns calories too
Molly has a good idea.
Strawberries stain the sheets too, but that never stopped anyone.
wonders what RU's other half will say when he tells her this.
I saw the cake description. sounds delish carlee
<---dreamer
With m!luck, sex will make me fat
ce 6/24..."very" in French + you and I are **
only if you get pregnant.
thanks for the ce
choclit will stain the sheets too
You may say, i'm I dreamer, but I'm ot the only one.................
And we all thank the dear Lord that sheets are machine washable...Amen.
amin :)
Amen.
di 7?
i still need dinner
di+ flower and plural
di + fall flower (as 5/10)
<--- thanks
Before this conversation descends even lower, I will bid you all a good nignt, and, like Oliver Twist, I will retire to the pit hungry but happy
I could use dinner and sex actually..lol
nite nite soods...{[hugs}}
Please sir, don't give Soodle any more. Night Soodle. Sweet 'non-food dreams" to you.
dream of alan doyle....dancing and singing :)
What? Is Mrs. Ru on strike?
hey ru -- no delicata.. suppose summer squash won't work?
butternut will work doren
And right back to food we go!
ah, of course. that is closer. but i happen to have some nice yellow and zucchini
i could go for a nice butternut squah bisque withjust a smattering of nutmeg
but then again, i don't have the recipe yet anyway.
I'll work that up right after I finish this thing
and what's wrong with food molly? we all eat it, right? and some of us are too interested in it, i agree
ok, no hurries ru. I don't have the right kind of squash to make it today or tomorrow anyway
It was a joke about previous conversation Dorens. No worries.
*Opens a Harp after listening to all that wonderful Great Big Sea music...clink*
oh god. I'm blind
carlee was in food porn mode....sorry..i had an email from my boss's daughter...she in lebanon visiting and away from her mum..but i seem to be her spare mum....and her mum away at a cottage out of email range...
too much food made you blind, er RU ru?
the "family" over there is squabbling and she is not used to 'arab family politics...her step dad is lebanese
food porn?
read my choclit cake description... that food porn
Oh let's see. How do we describe food porn? Okay, porn is something that makes certain people want to...the phrase food porn was created about talk that makes certain people want to eat. Capice?
*Capiche
thought more of vegetables in compromising positions?
Great, that is making my trashy mind run wild. Limber Lettuce and Randy Rhubarb...cue bad sax music.
clue for the bottom o please
heheeh..good one molls
heheeh..good one molls
on4 upon a time
.i need DINNER... turkey sandwich.macaroni salad and beets
ty....hate missing the easy ones!
let them eat cake, carlee
You are not alone Jeff. I miss them all the time.
crossy indulges in soft porn
whoa. didn't mean to kill chat
crossy indulges in bacon porn
yes, but i've seen him do very intricate involved descriptions of non-bacon meals too
this is true...
( was sewing a button on a pair of shorts for my son who was in a panic...0
but not quite as seductive as yours, hence softporn.
anyway carlee, please give me my bouncie pompoms. i have fw and then am off. need a clue or two?
your son is in panic for button, but isn't he a boy scout (or the canadian equivalent?)
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for dorens WOOT WOOT!!!
no...he did hockey...boy scouts is NOt cool up here..HOckey is where it is at
for girl the guiding program is cool...for boys...not so much
sent recipe
yay. thanks. look forward to it.
oh, well of course hockey players can't sew up their own shorts, can they?
nope..the hockey gloves getin the way
as does teh hockey stick
that depends on where they put the puck doren
ohhh, okay ru, didn't realize i need farro. not that easy to find around here. But will. meanwhile i have my summer squash and leeks and should try to find something to do with them
cock a leekie soup... and cream of leek soup
farro is even in Safeway now
stuffed baby squash...( like u would a green pepper)
wow ruru that dish must look gorgeous. If pam makes it, we should have her take photos (she's quite the photographer, you know)
oh..it's colorful and not high in calories and also flavorful.
ok. thanks for the suggestions. I think i will just sort o stirfry everything i have... But should add the tarragon from the garden. i like that idea.
ok..i am taking a bath... and then reading..toodles all
so ru, would that be a main dish for vegetarian people. or does it qualify only as a side. nite carlee!
tarragon adds a delicious note to the leeks.
it's filling as a main dish too
it's also great as a side with lamb chops
yes, and my leeks are looking like they want to be cooked today. I get carried away at the market sometimes and then forget how much is in the fridge. So i'm doing leeks and zucchini with some of your ingredients.. and i happen to have some cooked couscous so that's getting mixed in as well. will be a mishmosh, but will taste good. thanks
the caramelizing adds the best part of the dish
oh, and that is something i never wouldhave thought of myself
I always keep several packages of Farro around the house. I can send you one if you want
smile, thanks I will be sure to find it around here. Have multiple packages of whole wheat couscous and quinoa, but no farro, though I'm pretty sure I saw it recently somewhere like costco. Will get it when I get the delicata (assuming tomorrow's farm market might have some - didn't find it today)
so ru, carmeliziing these leeks. i've never done.... how long? what flame?
let me know if you like it.. you can do it in 30 minutes
i see you sa** medium flame
yes.. medium and toss them while they are cooking.. they brown up pretty quickly
the balsamic helps with the glazing
ok. and will cook my squash separately - not doing the carrots tonight, just squash, leeks, onion, tarragon. i do love white balsamic
right... will go out now to pick the tarragon . it's getting dark here. see you tomorrow to let you know how my bastardized version goes. (i know it will be delicious)
me too.. I use it on everything
that sounds kinda porny doesn't it?
lol
lol!
hmmm. wondering what i just walked in on
It's okay GE, there was no DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door. : )
