thanks Dee
nope...
:/ ah, well
Yay dee !! I dreamed once I named mine Vera
and I tumbled down the Labor Day weekend, so teed off we don't have
down the stairs...
lol west
oh no dee are you okay?
i've been trying to talk my mom into a four-footed cane, she's having trouble with the two steps down from her porch, and the azaleas don't allow for a railing.
not sure yet west... started having some odd pain, but have dr. appt. Wednesday
good luck with that seain my mother just wouldn't use one for years
you weren't supposed to follow my lead volley
actually a great idea dc...
hopefully it's just bruising dee
am thinking that may be necessary for me... previously have been too proud and felt too young to have one, but this fall scared me...
i only stared with pushing the idea about 6 months ago, and may just buy her one for her birthday in early December so she has the option once it starts snowing in January.
LOL dart... yeah, really bad example
my mom's fallen twice, and been lucky, but i worry.
I hope so west... seems to be around left hip...since the pain came a week after fall am praying I didn't fracture or break anything unknowingly
great idea dc, bet she'll be quite happy to have it
I hate TU words
I would, too, dc... every time I have fallen I have broken something...
well, i'll feel better about it even if she doesn't, flosey :)
me, too, ru
no kidding dc, when it's there, I bet she'll use it
here's hoping! :)
maybe if you just brought one to her someday, and asked her to keep it for your sanity...
i've seen her nearly tumble bending over for stuff in the flat kitchen :/ maybe an extensible grabby thing for her too.
I use blunt-ended ski poles for walking in rough terrain - as in quite a bit of our property, also great in the snow
those things are great... a friend of mine uses one cuz she is soooo short
oh, she'll keep it -- she's good at keeping stuff. She even has several umbrella stands full of walking sticks, but she doesn't use any of those, either
I think the ski poles would be a little tough on the azelias flosey
oh, yes, those type of walking poles are great, flosey, speaking as someone who hikes 10-25 miles through mountains regularly.
good for dead heading?
great idea
what's dead heading?
lol flosey
taking the dead flower heads off
Hi -- very late flip!
flosey, the azaleas have been trimmed only to keep the walkway and porch clear since 1980. They've grown into a beautiful, multi-colored hedge
the rain takes care of the dead-heading
evening, jilli
can just see flosey whacking away
oh dc, I bet it's beautiful
hi jili
hello jilli
you should see dc's facebook photos flosey...gorgeous
helo jil gl
there are springtime pix in my flickr, link in my profile
hiya jilli!
hi jilli - you must have stopped to do kitchen duty
You're right, flosey -- then posted the babblet icon -- great suggestion by Bugsaw!
great icon jilli and one of our babblets too
the icon here is distorted -- sorry
Hello everyone -- late getting home, so just taking a peek!
but it's ok if you click on it
fireworks!!
congrats, vanilla

ty can go do some gardening now
Yay van !!
enjoy, vanilla, and hope you have a great day
hi nan
bought a new ride-on mower and am keen to give it a go
evening, nan
you must have quite the garden van..maybe we can do a farmer's market in the pb
nice icon, dc -- but it's not really a babblet, is it? Quite a normal word.
we have one and a half acres and mainly grass
van do you keep any animals?
plus a vegie garden and trees and flowers - no animals exept a large birdcage
jilli I don't see where it says the picture has to be a babblet
did I miss something?
you wouldn't expect us to have cats would you
cats are people van
west, the theme is Babblets!
mmm tell tnat to the birds
I missed that completely ..not going to try doing themes any more..that's twice now
i missed the babblets part completely :) once i've slept mayhap i'll update
geez louise there it is..first word !! I blocked it out completely
"Icon theme for Tuesday 13 Sep - Babblets: post a picture and define what it is so that others know and remember what they are (Bugsaw)"
dont lose sleep over it dc
How can anyone miss that?
i shan't
I don't know..ask seain lol
i entirely missed the 1st word
me too
west -- please don't give up doing themes -- so few do them and it's such fun to see what others choose!
oh well
I won't jilli just feel a little foolish
ok have a good day everyone laugh a little and love much
thanks van you too
good words to live by vanilla
i'm tired, but waiting on the dryer so i can hang uniforms before they wrinkle.
hasta, vanilla :)
I didn't see dee leave..hope she'll be okay
uniforms, dc?
I didn't see dee at all -- is there a problem?
tom's for work, yes. he has to wear navy or white, or navy top with white bottoms. last load of whites is in dryer
she took a tumble down her stairs over Labor Day and says she has a 'new' pain..is seeing the doc on Wed.
they don't have railings
dee was here, she finished a bit ago
oh, of course, dc -- I forgot -- he's a nurse, isn't he?
they do not have railings, but do have a lovely stairwell
yep :)
poor dee -- no fun.
how are you doing jilli..cat bite all healed now?
I miss doing Babble on the computer instead of a tiny sheet of paper :oD
hello again all -- it's been a long time!
sure has dfm..nice to see you
hi dfm! Where have you been?
heya west; jilli; dc; flosey; vanilla; &c.!
and why not doing Babble on the computer?
I was on a co-operative education work term, and... worked from "0900h to 1700h" (read: 0800h to 2300h)... didn't really have the energy to Babble at night, and didn't really want to be doing it on the company computers.
good night all -- see you on Wednesday :)
hi and good night, nan!
night nan!
bye nan going to see the kids?
g'night nan
hi, dfm, nice to see you. life's calmed down a bit?
on the contary, I'm back on study term and diversity is once again part of my life!
(I can *do* things now!)
that's quite a grind, dfm -- was it worth it?
no flag, dfm? Is that on purpose?
hi there dfm good to see you, have missed you
It was a fun experience (for some definitions of "fun")... and probably will be a nice thing to add on a résumé!
just took a break to get ready for bed, so I don't wake hubby while tripping around in the dark
I have my location set to "the universe", jilli, it would break if I tried to display it ;o)
very considerate flosey
oh, of course, dfm
ah, dryer done. gonna hang laundry and go to bed.
g'night and happy babbling, yall!
g'night dc, sweet sleep
gnight dc
'night, dc!
good night seain good job !!
phant -- artery -- I suppose everyone has posted that...
ah there's an old babblet in this grid, we haven't seen in a while
starting with what, flosey?
phantoms for me are dynamite and ternary
that's funny flosey I was actually thinking of using that when I change my icon
te6
and ty for the heads up
oh yes -- ty flosey!
sounds like a pretty ugly beast
yw jilli
I hereby declare that gasworks is now a babblet
thanks flosey!
yw dfm
lol, west!
I think this theme deserves a repeat, with BABBLETS in capitals, lol!
lol, go for it jilli - I didn't even get around to changing
I have 2 blanks -- the bottom E and the right-hand A
I should probably go unpack a bit more, and then get some sleep for tomorrow morning... it was nice being back! :oD
an5/10
don't have the E
did you finish, dfm? I missed it if you did -- congrats.
et 6/18
te6 is a little creature that should not be babbleted.
flosey, I have the list -- stats don't help but clues do!
hi scouser
Didn't finish yet, I have 34 left!
an5/10 - beside
et6/18 (archaic) - forever
hi jillibus. The tu7 is antiquated word.
hi jillibus. The tu7 is antiquated word.
hi jillibus. The tu7 is antiquated word.
hi scouser
ok, will try, an + picnic pest but change vowel
ok, will try, an + picnic pest but change vowel sorry, guess we hit the witching hour!
I'm amazed, dfm!
Was neil here tonight?

oh, thanks scouser
alright, should get going on making this room / this day more livable... I shall leave 30 to find tomorrow! good night, all! :o)
ty flosey -- I should have seen that one -- a crossword favourite
I can remember my mother's lawyer peering over his half-specs and saying "and now an5 the property....." with those r's properly rolled.
gnight dfm
take care dfm
interesting scouser
fireworks now. byee all.
great to see you again dfm, good luck
bye scouser..great picture and Yay !!
wow, scouser, that was fast, wasn't it?
ah -- got that E for NBT!
jilli, when you see it as a crossword clue, how is it clued?
I can't remember, flosey -- sorry -- maybe "concerning"
I just checked the ? and yes, "concerning" is one of the definitions
Sandra and I always did the Globe & Mail crossword every morning - we'd cut it out and run a copy
I don't think I've seen it used in a cryptic crossword
I don't do the cryptics
I did the Brit ones with my dad -- loved them. Even made up some for our Gt Dane newsletter -- doubt if anyone bothered to solve them, lol!
I bet they did jilli
they are fun and I always have such a feeling of accomplishment when I finish one
very clever of you to make them up jilli
I think they're easier to make up than the standard American ones -- there are more black squares.
speaking of clever...that's not my middle name..need help with n stats please
just got one ne4/6
na4/6, ne4/6, ne6/21, ne4/9
still need that single middle n for nbt

I don't have it yet flosey
ok, thanks west
no, flosey
thanks jilli, any clues?
masculine, feminine, ne6
nm got it
thanks jilli
thanks jilli
ok, peri/flo
annoying when you get your mind set on it going one way!!
I know!
nutman is not a word
tr4, west!
seems quite logical west, what do you call the man who sells roasted chestnuts on the street
wouldn't Mr.Peanut be?
nutlessman would be ne6
great ruru
lol, good one ru
haha ruru
:D
ruru I had some Pinot Evil tonight
oh.. that again.

this was different..the one we had in Yorktown was a grigiot and came from Hungary..this was noir and came from France
hmmm,,,just twigged to the Envy
did you like it westie
it was very nice..went well with the lasagna
then that is all that matters.. if you liked it and enjoyed it. I've never seen it out here.
I have seen the Bitch Syrah
where do they get these goofy names for wines these days?
we like the bastard
beats me..
I like Cote du Rhone
the Bitch sounds like something that might give you a headache
I found a nice one for $12
or I should say WHY do they get these goofy names

I hope you can get that surgery done soon
me too
good night ruru and you really should request a wheelchair
I hate to give dart an edge
dang it
is that what the LA trip is for?
to meet with some top clients and set up a benefit dinner with a chef
just what I was going to say, west -- ruru, don't try to be a macho hero
and see the LA surgeon at the same time?

lol
maybe we could arrange for da** to have surgery at the same time

woohooo for carlee's pompom toss. gosh i've missed that!
aww thanks carlee i have so missed those pompoms of yours
as far as I can see, it is a bit of projection from her part. But since that is forbidden to talk about as far as she is concerned, it cannot be cleared or solved. Looks like I am gonna need a new therapist on the physical plane!
lol granny gmta
carlee's pompoms are better than fireworks!

awww, spritey, waht a man!!!!! have just had my 7th annivversay here...i think the success to a marriage is NEVER to stop flirting with your man.
oh that is sooo tr4. And keep your sense of humour with you at all times.
congratulations, rose, and may you have many more of these.
spritey, have laughed together for 7 years, plan on ma4 more
we are lucky ladies :)
and congratulations to you, too, spritey. hope you also have ma4 more
we hope for ma4 more indeed (off to PB with me).
totally agree, ....why don't we realise these facts when we were younger...
oh I know... I have this friend, only 2 years younger than I am, still looking for a handsome boyfriend, with money... and I cannot get the message across that that is totally irrelevant.
Good morning everyone, having a quick look at the grid during work coffee break:)
nearly 7:30pm here...i think mother mac's worms must be biting. she has already been out and offered to pay for take-away, bless her.
hiya jean, it is a good one for the first half. Don't know how the rest is yet.
aw that is nice, rose.
hey jean, pretty friendly grid today, and so is the chat
nah, the chat rocks. Way more than just pretty friendly ;)
Thats good to hear its a shame I havent got long:(
*giggles* right on spritey
hey, even if it is just short, it is great to see you
*dances through babble with rose*
LOL, do you cha-cha too?
Happy anniversary Sprite - mine too, 36 years!
absolutely :)
hi Chessy, congratulations! How wonderfully long. Bless you both.
and never mind, jean, we will be here when you have finished work(well some of us will)
Thanks Sprite - we both gave each other the same anniversary card!
WOW!!!! chessy....congratulations!!
oh that is so special!
LOL, chessy, this hubby and i finish each others sentences...talk about in tune!!
I have a surprise for him... booked a private cinema thing for us, a 'love booth' in a very small little cinema.
Must be something in the air - also my stepdaughter's wedding anniversary, and neighbour's son is getting married this afternoon!
and not only that, one of us can be singing a song in our head, and the other one bursts out with the ne4 line
hello back for a min
{{sprite}} reading back....
What a lovely surprise Sprite!
* giggle* i'm still here ruby...shame on me
hey rubyfoo :)
happy to hear about so ma4 happy marriages. It is worth working for, isn't it girls!

we'll be married 15 yrs in Dec '12 but have been "together" much longer than that
off to lunch -- *poof*
*poof*
bye dear rose *hugs*
see you soon, rubyfoo
I have just read the back chop, I've been married 52 years and have laughed every day!
hey jenny! That is so wonderful :)
good morning sprite and jenny and bye rose and ruby
hey west :)
is today your anniversary sprite?
yes it is :) 15 years married today.
how wonderful and September is such a nice time
this is my birthday month so it's kind of a favorite of mine
yes it is, I agree, it is such a cozy month. We married on friday 13th. So we have at least 2 anniversaries every year, and max 4. But this one is kinda special.
not sure if you do the same overthere, here 15 years of marriage is called the crystal anniversary.
did you get breakfast in bed from your kids?
we do that I'll send you some Waterford
happy birthday somewhere this month, west :) No, nothing from the kids, except big cuddles from my daughter. And I got lovely roses + card from my love.
:D
cuddles are roses are the best
it's the 21st I share it with Stephen King
absolutely. And the card too. It says : kisses and cuddles for my love and my matey.
ohhhh good birthday! My sister's is 20th.
our 2nd daughter's is the 24th and our 3rd daughter is having her 1st anniversary ( 2nd marriage) on the 18th
oh wonderful! Though quite a lot of celebrations together... do you combine?
not any more Wendy lives in California and we're in RI
we did when she was home though
ah that makes it rather impossible. Distances are such a different matter, here or overthere.
we call and email all the time
long live the internet!
no kidding
sure wish it was around when our kids were babies and my husband was always gone..he was in the Navy
I can't tell you how many times I would go out to that mailbox
yes it is amazing how much has changed thanks to the internet. People are much closer.
the other day JBV said she was watching a religious ceremony from Italy where she has family and the priest said thank you for the miracle of the internet
oh wow
isn't that amazing?
yes it is.
of course when we lose power because of hurricanes that's another story lol
lol yes, it has a few drawbacks, but for keeping in touch with friends and family it is a great thing.
I miss that most about my mother she's in a nursing home now ( 95 yrs. old ) and we used to email every day
she can't hear so couldn't talk on the phone
and she cannot have a laptop there? There is software that translates what you say to written text on her screen, did you know?
the home is working on getting the internet set up but it is very slow going
they say they are worried about porn lol have you ever heard anything so ridiculous?
maybe you can hook her up with a mobile phone plus internet. I can't remember the name of the software... something with dragon.
lolllllll well if a lady of her age and experience cannot handle the porn threat, who can?
I think it might be too confusing for her
it is Dragon NaturallySpeaking
I will look into it
yeah somebody must set it up for her, and make it so that she doesn't have to do much. Just pick up, hit a button and talk.
there is a problem there with things going missing too
oh that is awful. Shameful.
I know.
she has so many aides who come in and out and they are really good to her but it's disconcerting
I can imagine. Jeez.
I have been meaning to ask..is all the construction over ?
yes it is! I cannot tell you how happy I am about that. There is silence and peace in da house now... relatively speaking anyway.
did it drive Terra crazy?
their hearing is so sensitive
no, Terra was pretty calm about it. Only once, when they started cutting stone without warning us, spraying the stuff over our garden and windows and door... it came through all the cracks into our house and Terra was really protective, barking at the stuff like crazy.
that's horrible !! I hope they cleaned it up
and cutting stone is the creepiest sound
we had a new patio put in and they only cut bricks for a few hours
no they did not. They haven't cleaned up anything that landed at our side.
oh yes it is! I hate that sound. But thank God, it is behind us. Now picking up the pieces and getting back to therapy.
good for you
do you have anything special planned for today?
and that makes fireflies for me :) West, lovely to see you and chat with you. Am sorry I have to go, hope to see you again soon. *hug*
no not really, but we will go to a private movie show soon, my present for him.
It was so nice to see you too Sprite and a very happy anniversary. Tell me the Dutch
Kristallen bruiloft :)
that sounds very romantic
Kristallen bruiloft Sprite !!
We would say: "gefeliciteerd met jullie kristallen bruiloft"
that too lol
:D thank you!
morning, all!
evening all :)
hi, mrp!
hi sue!!
the grid is quiet! how you going?
I'm good, just about to do my exercises
i am jealous!!
however I have just realized that I am supposed to be in two places at once tomorrow night :-P
that should be interesting! LOL!
somebody is going to be disappointed...
but I promised to give a talk to a group of students at 6, then I also promised to be on the worship committee at church, which is meeting at 7 - maybe I can be late to the church meeting...
oh hunny!! send your body double
you can be late to the committee, you can't not be there for the kiddies
well, Frank is also going to the church thing, so he can tell me what happens - of course that means he will have the car
and it's a ways from the dorm to the church...but I will manage.
i promised to give a talk to students and it was the day after surgery (which I didn't know about till 4 days before), so I sent my husband with all my notes, and it went really well!
well, exactly what I was thinking, mrp, also that is a much more long-standing commitment
text him when you finish with the students and he can quickly pick you up
oh, that was good! this is one I have to do myself, though (talking about pseudoscience to a group of students living in the Science and Engineering house on campus)
committee meetings are usually minuted too
oh, that is a good idea, mrp! (why didn't I think of that?)
dunno about the minutes, these are Unitarians, and a very small congregation, so it is all pretty informal (and you have to take the words "church" and "worship" with a grain of salt)
butting in here...they're a Church committee...they will be forgiving of a late arrival--I would hope :o)
Good morning all!
I'm sure they will, nonnie, and everyone has competing commitments!
and good morning to you too!
morning nonnie!!
hiya sue and mrp!
yeah, you make sure them kids know all about psuedo science ... hmff
how you going nonnie??
"science or bunk" was the title of my original talk - how to tell them apart (and how not to waste your money or time on the latter0
*latter
Just want to say *thank goodness the extra megs we purchased have finally kicked in.... was about to kick out the computer*. child has been watching TV over the internet!! grrrrr
Wonderful mrp. We have to grands due at the end of the year. ETA = Nov 13 and Dec 23! Yesterday was my day with the two who live in town with us. So I've gotten my "nonnie" fix. How about you? How are you feeling these days?
oh, good, mrp! my son watches TV over the internet too, and our new cable modem is a lifesaver!
OMG! that is wonderful!!!
to = two
congratulations, nonnie!
little fresh ones! yum!!
Thanks, sue :o)
that sounds terrible! I mean it to sound loving!! sorry! LOL
I took it the loving way, mrp.
I see brand new babies and just wanna kiss them all over!! they are so fresh and beautiful!
indeed, mrp! :o) I picture myself in my big recliner with one in each arm. I feel so very selfish right now---but in a good way! lol
I want to see a photo of that!! How wonderful for you!!
I keep telling my daughter that if she had a baby young, I would take it and raise it and luv it... I will be a terrible grandmother... cause I will take over!!
Will do, mrp.
Oh no, mrp. You will make a wonderful grandmother. As grands we get to fill in the gaps for the parents.
i sure hope so! will always be a clucky old chook!
<--- is willing to wait for grandchildren until her son is older
(but looking forward to them nonetheless)
I love my children with all my heart but nonniehood is an entirely different level of love. I can't put it into words.

Good morning all
hi again, all!
hi, boo!
Hi Sue
gobbling breakfast before heading off to work, as usual...
morning all, help with the A pls
hi, peri! an5/10
I saw that clue earlier and it did not help, must be dense.
Hi Peri
canI have a dummy clue?
an + babble is such ***ertainment
ty, Dispatch, I never see that word
yw
Ty dispatch
it's a word that shows up moderately often in these grids, so I looked up its meaning. Won't be using it in a sentence any time soon, though.
Me neither Sue
may I pls have a clue for any of the7's pls for nbs
hi Babblers
Hi Jbv
hi, jbv!
sorry no 7's here yet, peri
hi sue - did I tell you I'm enjoying my class at RUtgers?
ok
nice being on campus
I only have two of the 7s: ru7/32--more small and tu7/40--a sometimes vowel ending on the 6/21 (which is the person who tu4/5s
I'm so glad you're enjoying it, jbv! I know you were nervous about it before it started
what are you studying JBV?
fun jbv!
ty for tu new word for me
thx, dispatch, that gave me a bunch of words!
ty for ru7
bbl
bye, peri!
have a good day peri
I'm taking an Italian literature/cinema course
and I'm actually pretty impressed with the students, who are all juniors and seniors - very nice bunch
creative mind! glad you are enjoying it.
have you ever had a s
oops. have you ever had a "senior citizen" auditor in one of your classes, sue?
de6?
well, Frank sat in on a couple of my classes, but I'm not sure he counts :-)
no, I was just wondering about how the prof feels about correcting my work - technically I'm not there for a grade, but I guess I'm extra work for him
I've had some older students but they've all been taking courses for credit
de 6 - I think it's a money term, kje - ends with semivowel
the clue earlier for the de6/27 was great: de + the ending of the yellow songbird, ca****
Clue for cu5/20 please
ty
cu5 is plural of the 4
ah - when I audited a French course I didn't do the assignments - it was a conversation course and I only wanted to learn to converse :-)
cu4 is the start of a night time deadline
I was given a policy sheet from the Community Learning program saying something like wait to be invited to speak, the professor must give priority to matriculated students - sort of off-putting
he'd probablybe happier if I didn't do them :) but I want to get his feedback on my written Italian
JBV, you are there because you have a genuine desire to learn. I would think that would be nice for the professor, as so many of the young people are there because they think they are "supposed to be".
hmmm - I did it much more informally, just asked the professor if I could sit in, and she said fine (of course I was a fellow faculty member so it wasn't quite the sme)
he's really nice, very young and of course I have to stop myself from evaluating him as a teacher (what I did for 18 years in my job :)
*same
yes, that's different sue, professional courtesy
Wow JBV, that is off putting.
anyway if I am not going to be late for my own class I had better get to work. See you all later!!
I'm already thinking ahead - will provide "feedback" to the community learning office when the semester is over - they're all nice in person
they also did not prepare me for the maze of bureaucracy I had to go through to get a student photo ID, net access ID, etc.. I may offer to put it all in writing for them
the easiest thing was the parking permit - got it by mail during the sumemr
ne6?
Morning all.
neither masc nor fem
hi red, hi kje

any clue for the de7?
Sorry, was on phone re sick kid in PICU. Bad asthma exacerbation.
oh dear, poor parents must be beside themselves.
It's happened before--noncompliant, smoking teen.
Anybody use a bike trailer to pull a kid? I am looking to use for Mary's youngest.
don't know what to say...kids...think they are invincible
Geesh, Scrabbs. Too bad you can't write a script for a dope slap.
Adolescents make me nuts. Well, they make their parents nuts.
one word on adolescents...cryogenics!
Which N has the ne5?
for the de7/52: think of a sugar with a different ending
no ne5
.. back, passes organic strawberry pop tarts..
and ty for the clue, Dispatch.. got it
bottom n has the gelding word...ne6
The adolescents I like to interact with are the kids who need the "least" lecturing from me. Once they cross to the dark side I cannot pull them back. They roll their eyes and sigh.
fourth row, Scrabbs
ne4 I meant
what is your ne** step?
ty, Dispatch!
hello all
Clue for de6 please
"lecturing"--I meant. And I mean discussing
both n's in the middle column have an ne4, one is a 4.6 the other is 4.9
Duh. Slap me upside the head with a cod.
h'mm, there is a de6?
morning, red
clue from earlier: de + the ending of the yellow songbird, ca****
Hope everyone is well lbd, how are you doing with the closure?
Hello everyone :)
de + little yellow bird, a ca****
ahhh, ty again Dispatch
hi Sadie
Hi Red. My friend with the stress fx of femoral head is better, and dx was not fx afterall, was inflammation at insertion at lesser trochanter.
hi sadie
store is closed. final act was yesterday, red.
How do you feel?
Hi sadie, ty lbd
Hi Dispatch and Aloyisius
hi sadie
Oh thats good news Scrabbler.
red.. my ear is still clogged, going to doc this week.. how is your ear?
hi Ibdawger
hi Scrabbler
Aloy, spray nasal decongestant spray into nostril of affected side, then chew gum.
The infection is better. I did a lot of antibiotic and stuff.
thats a long long time Aly!
ok, Scrabbs.. haven't tried that
Ty
does the gum chewing help open the tubes?
yes, that is what I've been thinking, red.. and it is annoying, going around feeling like your head is under water
Glad to hear your ear is better Red. I seem to remember wondering if you needed an antibiotic and being curtly told by someone that you did NOT. Turns out that helped.
hi there Molly
g my! I just refreshed and all word list is missing from the Babble site and from lickety.
I ended up going over to the ENT doc on recommendation of our doc in the ED. Its rare though for an adult to get an infection in the middle ear.
Hi Aloy
Hi Molly.
Yes it is, red.
Hi molly
morning, molly, z and boo
hi zTink, nice to meet you
Not really sure that I needed it, but I ended up on 2. and a bunch of clearing of the eustachian tubes.
my doc is retiring, so I'm going to a new one
happy for her, but will miss her
Aloy I hope they fix it, it is very disprienting.
is your doctor selling her practice? can you get her replacement?
phantom = entree
yes, she sold her practice and it is being moved.. the Cleveland Clinic gobbled it up
I'vr been a member for several years... juct don't chat much.
Actually, Scrabbs - it's a word. Off to the PB with you!
not a phantom - it's there
my phantom is denture
Yep, it's annoying when you cannot hear with one ear and you are listening for murmurs and wheezing, etc
good morning, all
and, tho she wanted to still work part time, they nixed that idea
why thanks scrabbs and hello zTink, Judi, trests, and dispatch
IT IS??
Don't have the chance to play as often as I once did or as often as I would like.
it IS. wonders what treat scrabbs will provide in thePB.
Hi z
scrolling back to get Scrabb's phantom, lol
en6/18. Eat it in the PB. :-))
ty Scrabbs... waves to her in PB
*setting muffins in the PB for scrabs*
*tossing out bagels, Danishes, muffins*
I am really dopey this morning.
sends scrabbs a "rooty tooty fresh and frooty" breakfast from IHOP.
true
me too, Scrabbs.. but second cuppa is helping
Clue for de 7 please
IHOP should be fined for serving pure sugar.
I stayed up til 1AM and slept til 9AM so my brain is confused. I was on call and worried about the kid in the PICU.
There is a mutantly large bumble bee out here sucking on flowers.

the et is like forever, missing the end of the word
Fireworks with that last clue. Thanks!!
:-)
ty Kitty
yw. I think mine is broken. We all know that the more so version of the cu is a word.
:-)
tien

What a professor gets? I think but I don't have them all.
thx, that's fireworks
Good Afternoon Everybody (if anyone is still here)
hey everyone..
hi Ibuxx. Those are quite the dogs there!
aw thanks nef.. actually the min pin passed away a few months ago
oh, I sorry. Was he/she very old?
no he was young.. it was totally unexpected.. a heart defect
(that was I'm sorry. I need to read what I type I guess
lol.. I know what ya meant tho
poor pupster! What is the other dog?
I am stuck on the 1st TR5.. can anyone clue it?
the other is a rat terrier outside/ pitbull inside :-)
I'm just starting out on this grid; I don't have it but will look
this one is def easier than yesterdays
cute description! We have a 10 lb Schiz-poo who thinks he's a German Shepard! :-)
right.. lol
small dogs amuse me
i have a german shep as well.. about 80lbs and my 12 lb rat terrier thinks she is much meaner
For some reason, since my DH's Aunt came to live with us now; this one just BARKS a lot more than before: He thinks he hears things and starts barking anytime. It's driving me nuts
well.. i have to get back to work before the boss catches me.. good luck!
bye (still working on that tr5 though
trey
OOOPS! Off to the PB for me
tr5.......add a consonant after the leafy plant
thanks kalea!
my pleasure
kalea, what part of MN are you from?
twin cities
lol........we could have been neighbors
unexit
oops
That's where I live! There aren't many Babblers who are around here (or else they don't chat -- which would be "very Minnesotan" -- if you know what I mean! ;-)
what part of the Cities?
yes, that's so true...........i tend to lurk myself
i lived in Robbinsdale
de6 or de7?
de6.......de + songbird ca****
Ahh! We lived in So. MPLS years ago; now in Shoreview; and I just retired from my job in No. MPLS (Victory Memorial Drive area. Robbinsdale seems like a nice area
de7.......start of sugar solution + mass ****sit
thanks kalea
wouldn't have found that de7
i used to love walking the drive
most welcome, Pigeonman
actually de 7 is a hypertonic IV sugar solution for dehydrated patients. :-)
lol..........thought i recognized the term
my center was right across the street from the Charles Loring elementary school there; I really liked that area a lot
what did you do, Nef?
I'm an RN. I was Nurse manager there for a prenatal clinic in a pregnancy resource center. Before that I worked 34 years in ICU
ahhhhhhhhh
what about you?
what kind of dog is that in your icon? Is it yours?
well.........i was an LPN at a place for profoundly ill kids, then stayed home to raise 5 kids. When my husband died, i worked with at risk kids in N Mpls
Schipperke.
now i teach sunday school, run a youth group, run a breakfast for the homeless, and wait hand and foot on my husband
you got it, Neil........that's my baby now
They're cute little dogs. :)
Dutch.
yep, but completely dominant.........lol
Haha! Like a cat?
belgian, actually
lol............yeppers
for those fantasy book lovers who own any ebook reader .i am converting a interesting trilogy called "liveship" by robin hob and can offer it in PDF or E-Pub for those who are interested
hobb*
Oh, are they Belgian? Close.
Maybe they're popular in both places then.
Hi crossy.
howdy neil
Hi neil and crossy. (Sorry, Kalea, the mailman brought a pkg to the door so I was gone for a few minutes there)
Hi Nef.
they were bred in Belgium to keep the canal boats free of rats
lol,i read that too fast, first glance i thought the mailman brought a pig to the door lol
no problem Nef.......i often have to leave
Haha, I thought that at first glance too! I wasn't gonna say, worried I'd look silly. Ok crossy, you're silly too!
now neil; *THAT* is quite the hairdo! The one the other day you complained about didn't deserve your complaints; but this one I can tell would be unmanageable!
lol.....that would be quite the package, Crossy
mm bacon delivery
Maybe they were used for that in Holland too?
I'm pretty sure I was told that. Oh well.
probably
the package is actually a continuing ed. program about ADHD through the life cycle; so it might include pigs and who knows what else if packaged by someone with ADHD!
Haha, Nef... uh, thanks. :P I know, I wanted to use this one for the "crazy hairdos" theme, but couldn't find it at the time. It was on my other computer!
hey, kalea! was unfamiliar with the breed until I recently helped rescue quite a few from a breeder who didn't want them any more and they risked being put down
And I wasn't at home then.
I was just too busy in college to worry about getting haircuts too often.
the ones I transported were very quiet and docile but apparently that is NOT their normal temperament :-)
nef,my son has ADHD and i can tell you all the cycles first hand
do they have a strong personality (the dogs, I mean)?
Moe has a sweet disposition, but he thinks all people were created for his benefit
normally they're apparently very lively and energetic :-)
Yep, sounds just like a cat. ;)
neil -- i was just reading up on your tattoo. very interesting!
yes....very high energy.......and they don't slow down in old age
Oh thanks, EvaNadine.
crossy, DH, and both kids are ADHD. You don't need to tell me about it; but we could probably trade horror stories some day! :-)
lol neil
one of the fosters of some of the rescues posted a video she had made -- they were coming out of their shell and growing more trusting :-)
Hi Une.
hey, neil :-)
my boy is 18 now..and there is a light at the end of the tunnel:)))
crossy LOL
thanx Kalea!
I moved out at that age... to go to college.
for the TR5.. lol
me too
lol........you're welcome........what'd i do?
ohhhhhhhhhh.......lol
I'm glad you think so, crossy. As I said, DH has it too (and there isn't a light at the end of the tunnel here yet)
ok, byeee, just zipping thru and saw the Schipperke pic *poof*
how old?
byeeeeeeeee
bye Unea!
65, crossy
bbs, phone call
back.
got to go.......hubby will soon be home for his lunch
take care, kalea; nice to meet you! :-)
the pleasure was mine, Nef.......take care
nice to see you kalea, there are far too few canadian flags in the chog:)
crossy, this CE has a text book to go with it. I just opened it and it looks like they type font is huge! Like maybe a Helvitica size 18! I wonder if the book is written for them?
Sorry about that, crossy. :P
sorry bput what?
bout*
sorry there aren't enough Canadians here?
lol
i never despair.my son is 18,and has a maturity level and aptitude of 13 or so,through great struggles and fights with dr,s and schools,we have him on the proper medication that is best for him(and not for the school) he has fine motor and writing delays, but we fought for 4 years and now he has a laptop for school as well as a scribe and a curriculum geared to his learning speed.we celebrate the victorys and encourage him to overcome the losses.funny things happen, just last year he scored a 90 percentile in of all things auto shop, seems he is a savant in this field and the teacher of that class advised us to enroll him in advanced course for this year(grade 11) and he is set up for co-op course in the second term this year...amazing things happen when you least expect it;)
crossy, you are so right! My son (now 32) was very bright but didn't do well in school because of his learning style either. He was very good with computers, however, but back then they didn't do different things for each student. He got in trouble; we had fought for years over him taking his meds, etc. but he is now the QA supervisor of a video gaming company and is doing quite well. His wife (on the other hand) really gets upset when dealing with him for the day-to-day things
With the ADHD, he is so focused on his work that hedidn't know that a tornado had passed over his workplace one day though!
You gotta love then!
them
same here,if my son has a single task with no distractions,he will focus on it to the exclusion of all else, but if anything else is going on,he tend to have a 10 second attention span
one task at a time that is it
YEP! That's my son, daughter, and hubby exactly!
i have a tad of it,of course it was undiagnosed in my childhood for instance if i am on the pgone, forget about reminding me to tell the person something because now not only do i not hear you,but i lose the entire conversation on the phone and that makes crossy angry lol
phone
now my mrs just slides a note on the desk in front of me and hopes i work it in the converstation lol
Oh yeah! :-) You and DH could be twins!
last minute daily schedule changes?? forget about it!i plan my day 2 days in advance and all hell breaks loose if you try to add something hehe
if you try to add something last minute*
now that is different. Do you write everything down beforehand? (DH and kids do not!)
Oh yes, sorry... that my flag doesn't add to the number of Canadian flags here. ;)
sometimes i do nef,i write down all appts with docs, store trips, bank runs etc
youn have to really plead your case to get something added the same day:)
I can see where that would help -IF you could hang on to the list and not lose it in 3 minutes!
slight delay in responding there neil? ;-)
but saying that all that chemo i had a few years ago did change things my mind is not as sharp as it once was
Yes, Nef. Been busy elsewhere for a while.
I could tell, neil. :-)
lol@ losing the list.i have a special binder where all appts ware written down and current mail and bills are orginized
Yes, crossy, but it goes with aging too
and crossy, many people have problems with memory after a lot of different meds
lol yes bichon i am sure there are a culmination of things going on now
now,what was i talking about?...lol
Haha, crossy! At least with a typed conversation, you can always scroll back and see. ;)
crossy, I have a calendar that *I* use to record MD appts. and Aunty 's hospice visits, her weight, etc. DH lost it last week! It showed up today where the rolodex belongs-- in a separate room, where it didn't belong, etc! AND the rolodex is ow missing!
ru 7?
I use google calendar which sends me emails to my smart phone
lol nef!
Ugh, Nef. Never a dull moment huh?
Sounds like a smart idea, bichon.
I do for some thngs too Bichon. However, the computer is far away from Aunty's room and that's why that's a seperate claendar
I just hope phones don't get smarter than us.
I just wish all sorts of inanimate objects wouldn't wander off all the time!
ru 7?
(it's just hitting me now that I didn't have my morning coffee. I'm suddenly very tired!
A strip of carpet, or someone who moves very quickly for exercise, bichon.
bichon, I'm looking but haven't found it yet
Oh sorry, wrong one!
Ugh.
[need more coffee]
ru7 - more undergrown
ru7,32 - smaller than the smallest of littermates?
thanks negneil
Neil is fine, bichon. And you're welcome.
what kind of word is that? Jeez!
That's bad. I looked and mixed that word up with the ru6. That definitely means I need more [and probably stronger] coffee.
my coffe is strong: 1 cup lasts the whole day!
Wow, Nef. Gimme some of that!
brb, gotta check onAunty
huh..they made a list like this.... http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/31yelB/w ww.wackyarchives.com/featured/worlds-b iggest-useless-things.html and forgot our big nickel http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Nicke l
back
here's your coffee, neil! <pouring an extra cuppa joe for neil>
de6, please?
Afternoon Friends
nm.
Hello, hego/
crossy, the buffalo is probably in Jamestown, ND; the Paul Bunyan statue was in Brainard, MN and I wonder if the axe is in MN also? MN seems to have a lot of those biggest statues; to drum up tourism in the past I think
hi hego and Bzzn.
Hi Bea
de and n*** a drop was spilt
hi all, de7 pls
Just clued peri
that was de6
oh yes, and hi

I have her sunflower in my bedroom
de7...de + t*** books are for school + I *** as fast as I could
Love the 100 flower book.
better clue Molly. :-)
have not seen that hego
ty Molly
It's wonderful Peri.
ty Molly, new word for me
I like her flower calendars too
Oh thanks, Nef. I have it right here in front of me now, haha! [If you're still here?]
Peri, Nef said it was some kind of medical word for a sugar compound (or something like that)
I like her flower calendars too. Would love to go to New Mexico some day soon and see where she lived
not liking this grid
me too
hi again. Off trying to help Aunty find a letter she misplaced.
de7 is a hypertonic sugar solution they give to dehydrated patients (often post-op)
yup
help with un words pls. only have un5/14
not there yet peri
and I'm another Georgia O'Keefe fan!
yay!
bbs
slaves are un6/30; and right now my house is un6/30
te 6/21 plz
: ) ty Nef
ivesy, what profs get after several years
oops one bfor that didnt realize there were 2
then I don't have it yet
Your house is un6,30 because you have no slaves, Nef. I have the same problem.
Very good Neil. lol
np nef.. i will keep looking
Thanks, hego. ;)
LOL, neil! I handed in my resignation letter (I resigned -and retired! as of 9/9/11) so maybe now I can make my house neat and ti4/7! :-)
Congrats Nef!!!!
thanks! :-D I loved my work; but I'm glad I'm done.... I just can't do the family stuff and working outside the house anymore
te6,21 - tailless, spiny anteater from Madagascar. Or was it the other one you're looking for, ivesy3?
Sounds good, Nef! :)
What?!?
Huh, hego?
the anteater
i know that as echidna, not a te word. hm
oh God, Sceain doesn't know. I'm doomed.
It is a te word too, Seain. Another kind.
And hi, Seain, btw. :)
it looks like there are more than 1 way to spell that word too
No, hego. It's a word/name you've heard before.
ty Neil
yw, hego... glad you got it!
ty neil!
yw, ivesy3!
it's a number and another name for a den in the basement a *** room
Yes, but that's spelling it out.
which is okay cluing Neil
I prefer clues that don't do that, if possible. Some words are impossible to clue any other way though.
and it is a babblet.
I found it in another source with an A as the last vowel. that's why I tried to give another clue
Sure, if there's no other way to clue... but if you're just spelling every word out, may as well just hand your word list to the person.
ty Nef
i wouldnt mind that sometimes lol
sometimes neil; it's easy to cover up the chog so you don't read the clues. Sometimes *I* need every last clue I can get!
Haha, ivesy!
This is true Nef
Well I would... I really don't like clues that spell it out for me unless it's one of those words that there's just no other way to clue.
Yes, Nef. Then you'd miss all the conversation.
And people ASKING for clues you might have. ;)
i see spelling out as a last resort too. And not anteater, completely different order.
there are days when I do cover up chog
me too neil, i like the thrill of the search
a lot of folks cover the chog.
To prevent distraction.
quite a few do cover it indeed
Exactly, ivesy. ;)
it just depends on the amount of time, patience and tolerance I have at the time
hi there.. has anyone seen lbdawg??
Yeah, I have on occasion. But I don't like missing anything anyone says to me.
Ummm, the other day?
not lately
not yet shooshoo. How are you?
Was it yesterday or 2 days ago? Something like that.
Im fine..thanks. and you??
K..well I will try else where to find her. poof
doing good! (for the most part)
Many times, the only way to find words on your own is to turn chat off.
yes, you folks are all to fascinating. : )
bbl, need a power nap
Bye Nef
As far as cluing goes, a lot of people are not familiar with the word, so a definition isn't going to be a helpful clue.
Molly you are the BEST cluer.
And fast too.
Thanks Hego, I try. Sometimes words are very hard to clue. And sometimes I forget that using "American" references are not helpful to those in other countries.
You are appreciated, Molly.
Aw thanks Hego. That's nice of you to say.
: )
yw
hi i am passing through on the way to a meeting
Hi jmc!
Hi JMC
i have to chair the meeting or i would babble during it
lol
And apologies for the definition of the te6,21. Insectivorous, but not strictly an anteater. I guess my mind read "anteater" when I saw that... glanced at it quickly. I knew what they looked like and they do resemble one in the snout, especially.
Haha, jmc!
Hi all. Clue for de 7 please
Hi Boo
Hi hego
I could tell you it's a hypotonic glucose solution given intravenously
I can't think of a good clue.
MOLLY!!!!!
Writing with either hand is ambi***trous, and if you don't have a car you take public ***sit.
Whatever it is..it's a hard word to find
If people don't know prefixes for sugars, that's about the best way to clue. It's one of those harder words to clue... so one has to resort to that.
See Neil's clue Boo
de 7/52 d + former (as in husband, etc.) + cons. + what one did in a race
d + t*** books used in schools + not walked
Sure, there's lots of ways to clue that.
that's the one teach.
I couldn't remember it.
Hmm totally lost
ok i am off
Bye Je
Lost with what, Boobear?
Take care, jmc.
Whew finally got it
Boo
Good. :)
I mean YAY! Boo
Ty Neil and everyone
yw Boobear. :)
time to cook. 19 left. BBL
Take care, hego.
Hi, just stopping by for a few words (and chat, of course)!
Hi Jellen
Hi, Boo! Thought y'all had left!
shoo! where are you?
Hi, lbd!
No just looking for words
We wouldn't leave you
Aww... :-)
Did you finish
Me? I have 68 left :-(
Ok I have 50
I have 5 minutes left to play before I must go run a couple of errands...
Anyone have a clue for the last en5
Is it the door you go in?
en 5/14?
That's the only en5 I have...
Have that one
Oh, found another..en 5/12 : en + to regret, anagrammed
ty jellen
Hi, crossy!
howdy:)
Ty Jellen
Hi Crossy
cr 5/14= a vinegar bottle for fancy table setting
howdy boo
That cr was the first word that I got
Hooray! Made it to the halfway point!
Now I must pretend to be a responsible adult and run errands...Happy Babbling!
back. I couldn't stay awake there for a bit; had to take a nap until the caffeine kicked in
Hi Nef!
Hi Nef
hi Jellen; how are you doing
hi Boo
I am frustrated with myself...not getting things done that I need to do...
But running errands is a start, so I must bid you adieu!
LOL! I know that feeling too! However; I'm telling myself that I can sluff off every so often and be productive at another time
bye! Good Luck!
I'm entirely too good at sluffing!
Hi! Nef! how are you feeling?
Bye for real !*poof*
Oh darn. Missed Jellen!
Ugh. Been busy writing.
hi red! I'm feeling great; just have a slight limp when I'm tired these days. But trying to deal with everything else is another story; so I just quit my job and retired. :-)
Wow. what a lot of change. I am glad you are doing so well!
crossy has not time right now,i shall procrastinate later
yaa for nef and retirement!!..work is highly overrated anyways
dropping dead behind ones office desk is not the way to go
hi, all! busy day here...time for a little babbling!
en6 anyone. pls
i think i wish to kick off with a big ole brain embolism while walking through the forest in fall, just a big ole flash of light and i am gone before i hit the ground
suzie!
Hi Sue and all

The fires are up in the Boundary Waters area, suee. I'm 200-300 miles south and we don't have any smoke here
funny it's hitting northeastern Illinois...
Clue for te/18 Please?
thanks. :-) I was in this AM and gave my "official" letter of resignation to the boss and a BOD member. I'll be doing some volunteer work -mostly at home- because I didn't give a 2 weeks notice
Sorry te6/18
slang for a bill, Kenny
Tx Nef
ahh to be im a position to tell the work-a-day world to cram it and start doing your own thing,i cannot wait:)
fireworks here - off to fix dinner
yay, wv!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm doing it because of family reasons, crossy. But it hit me that I have many different projects and supplies for hobbies and such that I've put aside for years; and I'll finally have time to do them!
YAY,wvteach!!! WTG!!!
love my retirement - but i'm busier than ever - where is that rocking chair to sit in and read a book
family and doing things you love are the best of reasons
LOL, wv! I understand that nurses are really bad about filling up their retirement with too much to do (and I'll bevery careful not to do that!)
my f-i-l used to say that he never knew how he found time to work a regular job anyways, retirement was a non stop job !!
many of my nurse friends say tht all the time, crossy
i promise to make time, when my time is at hand,i will hike,go boating, long drives, finish that 18,000 piece jig-saw,read those 300 or so books that i am behind with,do more things with the son and mrs...mm....i left no time for eating or sleeping hehe
:-) sounds great, crossy!
oh and visit those 60 or so countries i always wanted to see
clue for te5/12?
sorry, Kenny; I don't have it
i have a 5/10 but not the 12
I just monkeyed a weird te6- does that help?
the only te5/12 I have is the plural of a te4/5
Tx callie.I did not see it.
de7 please?
yw
te 5/12 = semesters
De7 a start of a kind of sugar, and dracula is from ****sylvania
Good clue tabby
thanks kap
yw
19 left- do it or finish cleaning the fridge?
fridge can wait
stuck
which do you need a break from, Kap?
Both
oh, go eat, then! :-)
:)
Evening all.......is there an alternative clue for de7?
first 3 letters of the showtime serial killer +dracula is from ****sylvania
de+ train crossing sign letter and ++++sportation
it's a form of sugar, Flask. Does that help?
The de7/52 word is de plus a high point tile plus I use public ****sportation in New York City Flask1 and hello
there we go,one spoon feeding:)
howdy min and welcome to the grid
thanx....got it now!
Hello crosshair and thank you! I'm not really here yet.
hi Min
cool,i must be seeing into the future:)))
te 6/21 please
either te 6/21 i mean
te6/21...number after nine and you play pool in the *** room
te 6/21 = what teachers have after they've worked for a few years
te6/21: what teachers hope to get after three years
thanks tabby...
and thansk molly
: )
te 6/21 is number plus a ***creational park or vehicle.
ty min
yw
Well,I guess I'm really here now,so hello to all babblers
ahh re6 =to do with cheese
howdy min and welcome to the grid:))
Hi Minveryork. I'm not really here... I'm busy writing but pop my head in now and then.
lol neil that what a multi window set up is for lol
I'm busy writing now too, that is a story of clues Neil.
actually neil have you ever tried a speech to type program? you can dictate your book up to 160 wpm and babble at the same time lol
<--- also busy writing
however a speech to type program would choke on what I am writing (equations for radiative transport within the sun)
Hello uusue2! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Hi Sue!
hi, min and neil!
And no, crossy. That really wouldn't work well for what I have to do.
not really sue,the program just takes training..i find it reaches peak performance at 3 months
I need to write everything myself... and edit as need be if I change my mind about how I want to say something, etc.
*Feels woozy reading that Peter Cetera is 67*
i can delete entire words or paragraphs with a single command, but whatever one is most comfortable with i say
It has an equation editor?
it is more for my son anyways,i just use the program to dictate letters
fireworks
Multi-window. crossy? Yes, I'm multi-tasking, as always. I'm often multi-multi-multi-tasking. I make myself dizzy trying to keep up!
yay, cos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yaa for cosdem!!
(really, crossy, I am writing rather complicated mathematical equations - and I am writing them on paper because they are too complicated to put into my powerpoint slides)
oh i believe you..there are always some things it will never be suited for
Sounds complicated indeed, Sue.
I am putting the explanations on the slides, but the mathematical details are in my notes
Congratulations cosdem on your fireworks!Way to go
but for rapping off a first rough draft it is priceless
Wouldn't be for me, crossy. I need to see it all unfold and develop on paper... but it might work better for you and other people.
Well not paper per se... but print? I work on a computer.
Although I do jot down notes on paper sometimes.
then just edit by hand each chapter and rap off the edtied second draft..well there is something to be said for carving it all out in longhand with grandads fountain pen:)
they say tolkien did it all longhand
My laptop isn't so "grandad". Just "dad". :P
[my dad uses one too so hey?]
still use paper here - I love computers but it is still awkward and time consuming to create complex mathematical expressions
poor sue:(
Yeah, I can see how that would be best done on paper, Sue.
I would give you an example but it is essentially impossible to do in plain text (too many special characters, subscripts, superscripts, honking great fractions, and the like)
for instance sue i imagine the golden ratio constand would be tough to find on a keyboard lool
constant
φ
well can c+p it anyways lol
don't use that one much, crossy, but there is an equation that I just wrote down that involves density (greek letter rho), opacity (kappa), pi, the Stefan-Boltzmann constant (sigma with subscripts), and a few numbers and letters, all part of a large fraction
Oy vey.
you just hurt crossys poor brain:(
Yeah... ditto for mine. Oww!
I've made a very succcessful en5/14 into Babbleland. After ma4/5 hours of babbling,I have made a huge de 4/5 in the grid.I am almost done so here is a story of clues. When I was a te4/4ager, I was so in love with a boy I thought was really cu4/6.I thought he was cu 5/14 than any other guy.Thought he was my one and only tr4/5 love. I always broke cu 4/9ew when I was with him. I was actually obsessed with him and there was no cu4/6 for my obsession.I was very possessive of him and did not like it at all when he hung out with his friends during some of his fr4/7 time. Didn't want his friends coming onto my tu4/8 & taking him away. I would be da 6/27 if he chose his friends over me.I'd sit at home and write ru4/5s about him whenever he was out with his friends. When others told me that I was obsessed with him, I'd de4/7 it. I was so worried about losing him, that I went on an extreme di 4/5. I would always fr4/7 over the fact that I was too fat.I did not give a di 4/5 if I was making myself sick over him.All I cared about was being with him.I wanted my relationship with him to be et6/18. My obsession and possessiveness drove him away eventually. It was so hard for me to come to te 5/12 with the fact that he didn't love me anymore.I wanted to drive my car into a tr 4/4. When he finally broke up with me, we had a huge argument that tu 6/24 really ugly and we hated eachother for awhile. We finally had a tr 5/14, but I know he never really liked me again. Da4/4! Husband just told me in a cu 4/6 voice he wants the laptop ne 4/9. How da 4/5 he take it when I'm babbling!I guess I should let him have a tu 4/5 on laptop.I am going to ex 4/9 Babbleland and da 4/5 into the kitchen to find a delicious en6/18 to eat for dinner. I did not ed 4/5 story,so there might be some mistakes. Be back later
And it's Babble story time again. :) Haha! Love your stories, Min... always amusing.
Thanks neil!

good luck! do you have a choice in schools/grades?
I do have some choice, for now open to working in a few more places than I really would like, just to get some experience (who knows? I might actually enjoy high school English classes!), but will probably pull back to schools closer to home later.
how are you JBV?
I run into mrp more than I run into you these days!
I'm good - I signed up for an Italian class at the university - having fun with that

oh, I would like to study Italian again -- but have pretty much decided the priority should be Spanish since it will help more with getting jobs.
I will wait for the plain dark cholit, mrp.
t might be good tho, but would rather start with the plain, is that a problem?
hm drink the rum, eat the choclit, feed the raisins to the parakeets...
Hey all. Could I get some help with the U's? I only have the un 6/24.

ty welki and minveryork. Hi everyone.
hi carlee, how are things going with school, did you talk with the instructor re physics class?
i am in a different physics :)
Wow Minveryork, I would've never gotten that word without your clue. Thanks!
that is good, carlee
YAY!!!!! i was so upset about the other one... i sat and cried... i loved physics..but i am so far out of hte loop now...
Hi, boatierra! How are you?
And careleekat, hi! "::)
How goes it?
hi neil :)
hi neil
Hello carleekat! How are you doing? Welcome to grid.
Woops. That was just supposed to be a :) there. Don't ask how it got like that.. 4 eyes and one eyebrow?
Hi, welki.
i am LOVING school...and i just picked up my new little car and she is so darn cute
Oh good!
I'm good :) How are you?
hi minver
Not bad other than tired, boat. Can't complain.
still out in california neil?
Been working too hard but I'm glad to have work... so it all evens out.
hi carlee - you were able to switch classes? good news
Yep, back home now after spending last week down in L.A.
yes... i was..i start the new one tomorrow... down side...i went from a 30.00 text to 350.00 in textbooks
Work is good :)
wow!
yikes, that is a big jump!
T's Tackled! 1 left
up side...i wont have a melt down trying to remember all the stuff i forgot from 20+ years ago
some investigative reporter should do an expose on how college students are victimized by overpricing int he book dept.
Wow. Yes, I remember books were expensive in college. You try to buy used ones when you can.
can you get any of the books electronically
Probably so, JBV.
hi again, all!
no...u cant
Hi again, Sue!
Sometimes getting the one-older version can save you a lot and it's pretty much the same.
i got off cheap overall in books tho...
Hi uusue2! How are you doing? Welcome back to grid.
it depends, peri - - if it's in the public domain, maybe, but it would have to be an old book
and I must confess to shock that even the used books for my astronomy class cost $120 :-(
hi sue :)
but there isn't much to choose from - the other book that would have been appropriate cost even more
Or exactly the same gremlinn, yes.
hi, carlee! Great news about your class!!
i have a 120 ( used) and a 197..cant get used..and a 47.00 cant get used for this new physics course
yes..no more panicked hell
You can often get the very same text-book you need used and way cheaper.
Hi, all...
I know the publishers will say they have to recoup costs and themarket is limited, but really - $120 for a used book - it's crazy
Hi, Jellen!
I need a clue for the un 6/21, por favor.
Are textbooks getting more expensive every year? The most I ever spent on a new text as an undergrad was about $90 around '96 or so.
hi jells... I just have always considerede the textbooks a necessary evil...i dont sweat it..it is what it is...
Oh, I meant buying them off other students from the previous year, JBV.
un + lease
carlee, post me a list of your texbooks and i will see what i can do for e-reader copies if you wish
Yes, neil, I understood - that is still a good practice
un and what you pa
they are going up a lot faster than inflation, gremlinn
i only have these physics ones to go and 2 are workbooks crossy...
Perfect! Thanks welki :)
Yep, JBV.
U's done.
I get 10% off at the bookstore because I am faculty - helps a lot with my son's books!
i already bought all my novels for english
I tend to keep my textbooks...
( sue..u can adopt me :p )
actually, I've been spending a lot of money on buying Italian books from Italy (the shipping is sometimes more than the value of the book) but it's my only indulgence, so I treat myself - I don't get my nails done every week or go crazy buying clothes, so books are my treat
(also I get the publisher to send me his physics books as desk copies, since I'm using the same text in my class)
hey jellen
I kept mine, Jellen. Now I don't even know why... it's not like I ever look at them anymore.
I'd have to buy your books at our bookstore, though, carlee - but I would still get the 10%
I still buy textbooks out of curiosity - just paid $50 for a used geology text, and I want to get one on meteorology too.
Well, maybe once in a blue moon I'll crack one open. That's rare though.
oh well,if you end up missing a copy or one is uber expensive ,let me know
and postage would kill it :)
thanks crossy..i will
crossy has sources hehe
I love all my old textbooks. I use them for reference every once in a while. They mostly collects dust but I'd have a hard time parting with them.
I still have all my textbooks from college - every once in a while I look at them
you physics and astronomy and geology people may find your textbooks go out of date, I on the other hand majored in Spanish and French literature which doesn't get old :)
phych is always a good one to kill insomnia
and soc
I love opening an old book and seeing the price marked inside $3.50 !! no kidding
I feel the same I guess, boat. I think I like knowing they're there in case I want to refer to anything in them again.
i'm embarassed to admit that i still have most of my textbooks ... from when dinosaurs roamed the earth
Exactly :)
I remember one of my texts costing $10 and I thought it was a real ripoff (that was in 1972, though)
It doesn't get old...it gets older!
Haha, I have some books like that JBV, because I tend to like browsing used bookshops... you find some great old books in those.
Dinosaurs could read?
Or any bookstores, for that matter.
I gave away all of my undegrad and grad books. no need to keep them. you can frind whatever you want to on line
It's hard to drag me past one... I always have to go in.
sure, boatierra .. haven't you heard of intelectasauruses?
right, gremlinn!
20 left and gotta list
Good one!
lol jbv as do i dell books was huge in the softcover fiction from the 50,s to the mid 70,s and the slogan in the 60,s used to be "99 title for 99 cents!" now here in canada a softcover popular new title will set you back 15 dollars!
Haha, like fine wine, gremlinn?
Hello crazee! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
(with two t's)
I recently (a couple of weeks ago) used my undergraduate mechanics text to help me with my astronomy lectures - have had it for a good 40 years
I love used bookstores. there was one not far from where I lived as a kid and muy Mom bought all of our books there. I cred when they closed. Still have some of those books tho
siogh..nothing finer than wander the asiles in a used book store, and smelling that old book smell
i have some really vintage hardcovers, some from the early 1800s .. would love to find a good home for some of them. most are in good condition, some not.
those old bookstores are very few and far between now, we have one in a nearby town - keep hoping it will stay in business
I still have some of my parents' texts from the 40's...
I am done! I have fireworks! de6/27 was my last word
I am dangerous in book stores - if I'm not careful my house is going to collapse under the weight of books
wtg, min!
yay for Min!
I'll be here off and on for the rest of the night to clue
condition is everything, welki - I thought I had some valuable books too, but if you look on ebay you can see some of the going prices, I was a little disappointed
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~for minver
welki, I donated a bunch of books to the university library, maybe you could do something like that?
okay. so. a half-time 1st grade position has opened up at a school VERY close to me. I just hit the "apply" button. wonder if I will get an interview?
Congrats, Min!
My mom's a physicist, and she tried to "acquire" MY college physics textbooks after I graduated. But I wouldn't give them up.
Oh, good luck, stid!
yay... fingers crossed stiddy
Good luck, stid. lots of positive thoughts going your way
I would have tried to acquire them too, gremlinn!
why half-time stid? is it a half-day program? or are they splitting the job?
maybe, sue, if there was an interest in them .. they're not scholarly texts, some collections (like kipling) .. my favorites are the suede bound ones :)
Good luck stidmama! I hope that you get the position
anyway... just wanted to let you-all know where I had disappeared off to. *sigh* had to confer with Mother and weigh my options. *nervous mama look* I would like to have a little bit of certainty! LOL
(do I know your mom? not a lot of women physicists around)
She also wanted my CRC and my math encyclopedia.
Speaking of dinosaurs, words, ets, this is one of my favorites T-shirts from Snorgs tees...Thesaurus!
re5/14 pls
half-time for 90 days, it's called "leave replacement" so possibly the regular teacher is taking a class or something.
I have my own CRC :-)
hmmm... female physicists. sue, do you happen to know cecilia rozak?
Crap, I entered before I added the link: http://www.snorgtees.com/t-shirts/thes aurus
Dunno, probably not, my extended family is mostly in California.
oh, that's interesting, I never heard of that arrangement, anyway GOOD LUCK, stid!
re 5/14 is re plus I need to get a hair***. It's too long.
name sounds familiar, welki, but not someone I know well
ty Min
I got my CRC start of sophomore year for having one of the top freshman chem grades.
and gremlinn, I know most of the women high energy particle physicists in the US (and a few internationally), other subfields I only know a few
:-D thanks! now for a real disappearing act... *shimmers, then disappears in a cloud of pink sparkly glitter* *(poof)*
she earned her doctorate at notre dame, worked research for some time and is now teaching in nj. was my favorite professor ... she should be around 50 or 55 by now (i took her classes as an adult)
My mom is into something like studying radiation effects on hardened materials.
so almost my age, welki
re6/18 pls
her PhD is in nuclear physics
Gotta go for now...Happy babbling and chatting, all!
and I've done a little bit of that kind of thing, gremlinn, when I was working on the late supercollider - we were looking into low energy neutron backgrounds and their effects on our experimental apparatus
re6 is the animal stuff in cheese
bye, jellen!

:) don;t know why u6/30 and u6/21 were so hard to find when i already had the roots! duh.
Still here, Sue?
yep
Happens that way sometimes, crazee. I often kick myself because the words I don't see right away or for a while are the small, obvious, common, everyday little 4-letter words! Makes me do a big headslap!
Clue for et 6
I usually find more of those after I find everything else... weird how that works sometimes. Unless they're a root of the bigger ones of course.
forever, boo
crazee, this is a weird and wonderfull game thanks to enable
There are 2 of those, Boobear. et6,18 - part [course] of a meal and et6,18 - forever, or et + sea bird.
I sometimes think it should be called "disable" when it doesn't recognize word that are legit.
Add "ronin" please
anyone else planning to watch jackie kennedy special?
nope
don't get very many TV channels...
Ty negative
anyway I am off for the night - see you all tomorrow!
Bye Sue
I hope it's not going to be one of those specials that tosses out sordid details about her life.
bye uu
I can't wait until the new shows start..
i heard critic saying two of the best will begin in october. one is american horror on fx, the other is on one of the pay channels
since my main tv crappped out i watch very little because i don't like the little old bedroom tv. i can't snack while watching!
If any of you are watching America's Got Talent tonight [6pm west coast, 9pm east coast] please vote for Team iLuminate... they're family friends! [watching now so silent for a while].
is that the simon cowell show?
The only new show that looks interesting to me is "Person Of Interest". Other than that, the new Fall line up looks kind of bleak to me.
ok bb during commercial
He created and produces it.
simon and paula together again
this special is truly that pesonal touch that makes history so fascinating. and she sounds elmost exactly like my brother mil

Hello Jellen! How are you doing? Welcome back to grid
I'm kind of frustrated...my cell phone's not functioning properly...
Sometimes helps to turn it off and then on again.
Or you can take out the battery and reinstall it Jellen
I've tried that...
Oh, I haven't tried that, Min...
What kind of phone, Jellen?
iPhone
Oh, ok. That's what my brother has... I have a Motorolla 'Droid.
I'm restarting it now...
Good luck... hope that helps.
I don't have an iPhone so I know nothinig about them.
I don't either, Min. Never owned one. I've watched my brother on his but don't know how to use it.
Resetting it worked!
Looks pretty cool though. Oh good, Jellen!
47 left. I'm beat!
Good for you Jellen! I'm glad taking out battery did it.
I am beat too, so I think I am going to go to bed now.
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
Well, that's very do-able in an hour, egbokmom. Especially with all the cluers present.
You don't sound very negative there!
egbokmom, have you clicked on Minveryork's icon? She writes creative little stories that are full of clues every day. Some of them are so obvious once she points them out, you could suprised at how much farther you will get
Woops! Positive Pete will be conscripting me next... for what, I don't know. No, I'm not especially.
May I please have a clue for tu6-21 the1st? Thanks
For picking peppers, I think.
There's reasons for the name that don't all have to do with being negative... although part of it does, but only as a joke.
Could be, haha!
tu + stop on red light, go on g****
Thanks a bunch, grem.
That was my last one - hard to find those really twisty ones
Sorry gapeach... missed your clue request, between answering gremlinn and someone in an IM chat.
afternoon all :)
Evening, mrp. :)
hi
nice pics kids! what is today's theme?
It's OK neil.
I'm not really following one, just picking my own
Haha, mine is late for the "crazy hairdos" theme, mrp. I posted another one with my hair grown out but not this much... but I was down in L.A. at the time visiting, so had to use what I had with me. This one was on my other computer at home. You can see why it's usually buzzed off short!
so attractive neil!!
very 80's baby!
the only crazy hair I have is when I cut it really short and dyed it blonde!! I should find that pic
Uh, except that was in 2007.
Attractive? You've gotta be kidding me!
I was just home from hospital and my husband calls the do 'morphine blond'
Aww.
Mine got like this because, well, that's just what it does if I let it grow out past a short haircut... and I was too busy in college to worry about getting it cut too often.
May I please have a clue for te6-21 the 2nd? Thanks
A holding of something, like property or a position [job], gapeach.
A period or te4,4 of holding something.
te + ma**** is good fertlizer.
Thanks so much, neil
yw

I'm doing very well, Bugs! I turned in my official resignation letter for work today; I quit as of 9/9/11 and didn't give 2 weeks notice. They are understanding and agreed that I need to care for family now
brb
Congratulations on your retirement!!! I am shocked that you were able to work as long as you did. Self care is SO important
Also, to those of you who gave me (and other visual people) aids to remember Babblets today, THANK YOU
