hi neil
hi mag and neil and rbud and flosey and all
waving to everyone
*waving back*
ive had a busy day too..... my grandaughter presented us with our third great grandchild yesterday...... selena.... after 12 hours of labor and then a c section......... both are doing well..
Oh mazel tov, sammysmom! :)
congrats!
Glad they're both doing well. :)
thanks neil....
**CONGRATS** Sammysmom xxx
How exciting for you all. :)
nice name sammysmom, don't hear that one very often
and i just hear the cat screaming to get in.... there was a fox going through the yard..... we are getting overrun with animals that do NOT belong in the city
Wow. Good thing your cat's safe.
marvellous, s'mom!
wow unusual for a fox to be in such a built up area, I'd think
now we have sam, (just) julia, and selena.... hopeful;ly they will take a rest now
I mean Selena, not the fox!
congrats sm!
it is flosey, but we also have a hear of about 12 deer and other wild things that are not normal for this area , including several owls and a hawk.
That's a cool bookshelf, jilli.
ty dee
we are a block away from a 22 acre golf course which is being turned into a shopping mall and the animals there have no place to go
I thought so, neil -- must change to hedgehogs in a while...
I see jilli. Well they're cute.
Google "baby hedgehog" because I've seen some super cute photos of baby ones floating around on the web somewhere... sure you'll find some.
crashing - last 60 ffor tomorrow - good night :)
wow nan, good for you
I did google them, neil, just haven't chosen one yet and may dealy that until tomorrow. RAther tired tonight -- been on the go all day with Home Supporters, bridge here this afternoon, helpful neighbour doing shopping, etc etc...
51 to go and stumped
ignore the typos please, lol!
Oh, ok. How's the ankle coming along?
Huh. I make enough typos myself that I'd better be good at reading them.
I hope it's doing ok, thanks, neil -- Xrays on Feb 2 will tell the tale. Meanwhile I'm exercising it as much as advised by the physio.
What do you need help with anike?
Ok jilli... hope it's not hurting too much?
I guess you've finished, neil?
pe 7 x 2
Yeah. Link to stats on profile.
And here too, if this is any easier: http://tinyurl.com/Stats-01152 012

Wow -- thanks, neil -- is that link to BabAnon?
Yep.
And yw jilli.

thanx neil, and nice to know i now have connection with you. did you sleep well, mate?
Check Goodreads when you get a chance.
Yeah thanks... about to do it again too, lol.
will do
thanks for the list neil
Oh I meant jilli... check Goodreads. And the next message was a reply to you, grannyrose.
yw flosey.
such terrible news here, then followed by gloriously wonderful news
av 6
Oh, grannyrose? What's up?
nbs
today i lost the gold chain with the solid gold cross, which was the last gift from my beloved robyn. ( she died at the age of 47 from brast cancer)
*breast*
oh, no
Oh no? :(
oh dear, granny!
Hope you find it!
Or get it back somehow... place an ad?
so sorry granny
when we got home from church, himself crawled into the shower recess, removed the drain cover, and managed to fish out the chain.
neil, I' ll check goodreads when I'm a bit livlier than now, ok?
Oh, god... was the cross still on it too?
Sure jilli... no rush.
Oh good, even... that's what I wanted to type.
wow, granny, what luck
Just didn't happen that way.
then he went outside and ( had to dig out of solid ground) the trap in the drain....result....one restored gold cross. i almost cried.
and what a great hubby
oh how wonderful, granny!
oh my... I would have cried. What a wonderful man!!
Oh wow... sooo glad to hear that granny!
yes indeed -- a great hubby
Yeah. He sure is to do that for you. :)
oh thank goodness! so glad it was restored to you!
this cross , ap[art from my 2 adotable teen god-daughters, is the only thing i have left from the wonderful friend she was.
missing an S in first column. 4.5, 5.12, ?
I am so very glad it was recovered
that would be * adorable* but adotable works for me as well
have same as you bleu
very happy for you granny
lol good word to coin granny
Aww granny. So glad you got it back!
so here is one very happy rose, and thankful for the most wonderful man in the world
:)
Woops... I'm looking too positive there.
thanx, neil and dee. you both remember how much robyn meant to me. so you will appreciate just how i feel/felt.
definitely
I'm afraid I don't because I knew nothing about her, grannyrose... sorry if you've talked about her when I've been here and I've missed it? I'm often here and there when I'm logged into this site.
But I'm sure she did from what you say of course.
She was a very close friend of yours?
blue those s's are: sn 5, 4, 5
Oh I'm sorry, bleugirl2. But Dee's on it. ;)
:)
neil, robyn was my soul sister, a friend of 25 years and counting. she shared everything with me. my disastrous first marriage, the birth of my 3rd child, my faith , my desolation when my marriage broke down...my marriage to my long-time friend of 25 years, everything.
Aww, gran. More like a sister to you then.
I'm sorry she was taken from you. :(
a true soul sister
ok a hint for the first SN 5
how awful to be struck down by breast cancer at such a young age
yup, more a sister than her own. it we4 both ways, she shared with me stuff about her marriage and husband, which nobody else knows about. and i'm not telling, even now

hi dee hi -- just spotted you
hi jili
you know? today, of course, i was remembering all the things we did together. there was one particular game we played a lot...card game called spite and malice....to hear us play, you would have thought we were the bitterest of enemies
OOOOH, my mom and I used to play spite malice!!
yay dee, such fun
adored that game
wish we could play it on-line....now that's disturbing
Wow... never heard of that one?
wouldn't that be great
It was same as skipbo (or similar) but played with regular cards; in Texas it was called shuckins
How is it played?
look it up neil, it's such fun....you can call each other all sorts of things, and laugh at the same time
Oh great. :P lol
over halfway
I get called enough names as it is, haha!
WTG, jilli.
are you sure you aren't talking about the republican de6 granny

Hi Car
Hi Hego!
good morning, car!
Hello Aloy!
and it just so happens that i have crossy,s quote of the day ready for you enjoyment!
Once at a social gathering, Gladstone said to Disraeli, "I predict, Sir, that you will die either by hanging or of some vile disease". Disraeli replied, "That all depends, Sir, upon whether I embrace your principles or your mistress."
good one!
LOL... very good indeed
I need stats please for the left column S?

frigid here also, but,as you can see, I am prepared. lol
will be a balmy -18c here today, but "cooling" down to -27c by wednesday
whoooo crossy - we are both balmy

Yikes! I will not complain about our 10 degrees this morning!
Or barmy maybe. ; )
... any chance of a chinook in between ... or are you trying for that old 30 days below freezing record this year?
if i knew i could climb out of the water, i would, crossy - what a sight we'd be
no chinook this week, dos - i think this will be a replay of last year's cold snap (long snap - very long snap)
we do not really get chinooks here, that is more out west i think
Yikes, Welki just got over pneumonia!
but they often beat us in the sheer cold dept
BUT on the good side, at least the lakes will freeze some good ice and i can finally get out fishing
indeed welki,i and hankering for some good ice fishing
hego, and i'm feeling it today. the doc said 6 months before i'm 100% - that the cough will linger and boyhowdy, it woke me up this moring
So sorry Welki, hang in there.

Migraine is worse. Brain may explode out of left orbit. Minus 6 2 hrs ago, now plus 3. Sunny + beautiful.
lol
dos, i don't get the specialty ale thing, either
minus 15 here scrabbs
Oh Scrabs! I am sorry to hear that. You have been fighting that off for days. Can you rest today?
lol
agreed dose
poor scrabbs,my wife can get them for weeks, ends up with tunnel vision some days
uhm scrabs - can't be doing you any good to be looking at a computer screen with that monster lurking behind your eye
Migraine started Friday morning. I suspect the weather triggered this--low pressure.
you need to move to the azores scrabby as it has a endless high pressure system over it
hey cross - deisel engine. cetane boost - non-gelling for winter?
sorry to hear Scrabs
I used to get really bad "snow headaches".. brought on my change in atm. pressure
by change
I am happy when I am on the internet which means I am not thinking about my head. I want to ski later as it is a gorgeous day. Yesterday was just heavenly in the woods.
they have new things for that welki, but in the past we used to add a gallon of kerosene to a full tank of diesel
It sounded lovely!
Except my glasses kept fogging up so I took them off. Very annoying.
fair trade, scrabbler - distraction for pain relief :)
I am with you Scrabs...when I get my headaches, it sometimes helps to focus on a small area. I turn the brightness down on the screen if I am light sensitive with it.
my ding domg this puzzle is easy
get a pair of contacts for skiing and for bird watching
;) a clue for you
... My wife used a prescription drug named "Imetrex" and found it very good on migraines ... ... it was quite expensive ($20 a pill) fifteen years ago ... but it may be less expensive and non-prescription now ... ... it was very good
hi Alex (-:
I tried contact lenses 24 yrs ago and loved the visual improvements but within 1 hr my eyes got very itchy.
all the good migraine drugs are $$$$$
hi aloyisius could your name be anymore complicated?
rats.. maybe one of the new lenses will work for you
could be that the new contacts won't irritate your eyes, scrab - maybe time to give them another change
and chance, too
imitrex is now generic and cheaper
you can shorten it to aloy, Alex
I have used Imitrex in the past but have none now. Typically naproxen aborts an episode at the beginning but if not then I just ride it out for about 1-2 days.
I have heard too many 'bad' things about Imitrex....
imitrex..i will ask the dr bout it next visit
The triptans do have side effects so I stopped using it several yrs ago.
big breakfast day here - have to start cooking, so into semi-lurk mode :)
Scrabs...when I had my complicated migraine this past summer, the neurologist recommended propranolol. Have you considered that?
What are you making for us, welki?
today is also our big breakfast day:))))
is something (....)y going on here?
Beta blockers can trigger/worsen asthma and depression.
coffee refill time, brb
I know....that is why I didn't start them. I have too many people depending on my to have my depression symp
*symptoms worsen!
Car, I take magnesium and vitamin B as prevention, but as I have weather-triggered migraines I cannot control the weather.
my mrs has asthma ,is imitrx ok for her migraines if they go beyond 4 days?
Mine are generally set off by that as well. I take B12 but not magnesium.
Topamax is another preventive med but it makes people dopey so I don't want that.
I am a minimalist when it comes to meds
LOL! i am already dopey, and sneezy, and grumpy!
try to take as little as possible.
and she does not want to be a zombie on the meds either
lol Car
Car, read about MigreLief. I make my own with generic elements.
Crossy, Imitrex will not worsen asthma.
morning all
have friend with asthma, now the inhalers are prescription only - wonder if he ever did anything about getting a scrip for them, I should check. he's broke, no medical help, so it will have to be through the local "free" clinic and I know he's been reluctant to go there.
cool ty scrabbs
Hi Bob and rose
Hi Mr. Bob!
Hi Rbud!
hi, all! :)
the ventolin is ok rbut bit it is the beclovent and other steroid inhalers that really punch the pocketbook many are over 100 dollar for a small inhaler(100) doses
I will Scrabs! TY! I am off to church! I will put in a good word for you all!
Hi mrbob and rbud
howdy bob
ty Car and bye
many get in the nasty habit of taking the steriod in combination with the ventolin only till everything stabilizes then revert to just the rescue inhaler then it all goes downhill again.i know there are some new ones on the market but have not used them as the side effects give me the case of the horrors
Are there any generic steroid inhalers available?
there are, but they always top 75 dollars or more for small one
Fluticasone, betamethasone, etc
not that I've heard
the 200 dose ventolin or generic is about 35 dollars
that sounds a lot for generic
i have never gotten a ventolin or its generic eq for less than 30 dollars
that is including our 13% tax of course
Meds are so expensive.
that's quite a tax!
i will ask about the imitrex, but as a rule the price of good top end migraine meds make them unattainable
we do get a generic on that Crossy
lol keeps our debt down hego
hubby takes it
it it a zombie med?
he only needs it occasionally
... 15 or 20 years ago Imitrex was about $22 a pill ... but one pil taken at the right time (at onset of the headache) always worked for my wife ... ... was expensive ... but it saved my sanity
phone
... didn't notice any zombie affect ... ... and there was some concern because my wife was pregnant at the time ... but there appear to have been no effects there either
good
i shall ask about the generic version of it
we were very happy to see the generic come along, for sure.

When my son was about 2-3 he was very good at it. Out the door and naked in 20 feet!
maple walnut ice cream s not common here - Canada is the world capital of all things maple

Maple walnut fudge?

maple flavoured porridge sounds appealing
You can make a maple syrup and apple brine for pork that is really good

teenagers.hands up in exasperation
lol onyx..have one already ty
want another one?
comes with his own attitude
no ty,almost have this one ready to fly..cannot wait for empty nest
i used to think that parents were mean when they said things like that. Now i understand completely
mine is a boy,18,grunts unless it is about money or the car and can eat his own wait in food every day and can sleep 15 hours a day
weight
are you sure they aren't the same kid? describes mine too
oh and every gift must be the latest 2000 dollar electronic bauble
it is because they are all made the same onyx..you take egg and sperm and divide by x and y and you get teenagers
at least you are getting me to laugh about it. he will out grow this
now in hindsight i am surprised my dad let me live,i mean you could of killed me off and made another one that looks just like me\
he
yes they usually do around age 30 or so
think this is fun, wait till he drops out of that expensive college you paid for and moves back home with the pregnant GF that was kicked out of her own house..then the good times roll:)
Argh! Did that happen? mine had a stalker girl friend couple of years ago. glad that one was gone
i told my son as soon as he is done college, the mrs and i are moving 2700 miles away, right our on the west coast in a 800 sq foot studio loft..no room for kids
Hi, kids. Happy Sunday.
howdy judi
hey judi
You guys make me glad I never had kids! Here's a boomerang story for you: BIL's oldest son, announced a few months ago that he had neglected to pay about 20 years worth of income taxes. He has now moved back in with his parents (he's 41 years old). He is ignoring all the mail from the IRS.
yikes judi
omg!
we are venting.
i have a friend,he had a 3 bdrm house in town here, and all 3 kids moved back in with all the gf,s and bf,s so he walked up to the eldest, sold him the home for a dollar and him and him and the wife moved out instead and left it to the kids...seemed easier that way\
not good judi..there is jail time waiting for him
His father paid for an initial consultation with a lawyer and the lawyer spelled out what needed to be done IMMEDIATELY. He still has done nothing.
oy
The 41 year-old is in complete shut down/denial mode. His parents are nagging him to go see a shrink. He just does NOTHING. He has no prior criminal record, but I'm sure he's going to jail. You just don't ignore the IRS.
imagine that all 3 kids back home and both daughters pregnant and the one son dating a 40 year old..i would move as well
then he will go to jail
one big happy family!?
he has entered a fatalism mode, and it is hard to snap someone out of that judi\
What's so sad is, he's educated and intelligent. He has just never had much ambition or responsibility. And, dare I say it, overly permissive and coddling parents.
onyx,i think the mom and dad live out east now and are quite happy lol
indeed judi
All I can think of is, if that had been me that showed up at the door and gave my father that story, he would have laughed in my face and said, "though sh*t". It's your mess, deal with it." Believe me, tough love really pays off.
sometimes parents can't be blamed. kids make their own choices. their own mistakes.
i make my son fight for many things, then i am easy going on all educational things, stuff for his co-op course etc..it balances well
True, onyx. However, his parents didn't make him move out until he was 26. He was stunned. He thought he had done something to piss them off. They just said, No, it's time for you to leave the nest.
in his defense, my son wants me to just leave him alone. he wants to do things his own way
Independence is good, onyx. Self-sufficiency should always be nutured. Apathy, however, should always be given a good swift kick in the arse.
*nurtured* rather.
you are right. i don't like hiss decisions but they are his
True reward is when they come home to visit some day, get that deer in the headlights look and say, "y''know what, mom/dad? You were so right about x-y-z."
yay lickety is up today!
help with fe7 pls

woe hego -2 days in a row! hi
I always seem to just miss you.
i need the yos! only have one
But I am here at least 3 times a week.
Timing is all - but I lurk a lot and still miss you!
Hmmm....
Well good to run into you now.
FW!
And the yo's seem tough.
congrats kje
all start with the same frst 3 letters, hego
YAY!!! KJE!!
ty I see that.
I was looking for actual words. lol
I am making bread...and realized as I needed the dough that it didn;t seem sticky enough... the realized I had used the white whole wheat flour rather than the unbleached all purpose
odds it will still be OK and not hard as a rock?
well, hego... you should know better by now!
It will be interesting to see how the bread comes out.
could be okay.
went ahead and let it rise and will bake it - we shall see
it is rising - but not as high as the next loaf I made to replace it
If it raises okay, it should be alright. good luck.
(has to be decent as it is for guests)
love the smell of yeast at work
it's great.
I think I will let it rise longer maybe?
That may not make a difference
or will that overproof it.... any bakers here? I don't usually make bread
but I am a cake wizard - lol
I don't think you should leave it longer.
OK, thanks
I forget the exact reason why, though.
but if it isn't raising, leaving it longer doen't usually do much.
And can make it collapse.
white whole wheat - sorry left to open door. No regular flour at all?
and what is white whole wheat? sounds like an oxymoron
it does, doesn't it?
I've bought white whole wheat flour and baked with it. But, I don't know what, exactly, it consists of
kje - give it a gentle poke, if it leaves a print bake it
there you go!
if really whole wheat it will not rise as much as the regular flour
did you punch it down after the first rising and let it rise again?
I would just follow the directions and see what happens.
nan - not all recipes call for a double rise
I think this was the first raising.
over-rise will make big bubbles that will collapse.
I used a bread machine and there's always a double rise. The whole wheat setting is about 4 hours including the bake
right
Never used on - like the kneading and punching and pulling - releases a lot of frustration :D
one
what the heck is the wo 5,20?
*bow to your knowledge, hoot -- only ever used the one recipe -- it made 5 loaves and you needed to punch it down when it doubled in size form it into loaves and let it rise again.
Courted, hego.
that is normal bread making Nan.
ty Kap and hi.
nan a recipe like that would have doble rise because you'd use more yeast. also depends on yeast
Hi.
Most of mine are double rise, only a few with one
If I stopped baking and paid attention, maybe I would get these words. lol
hi kap
Hi. I have all the f's.
haven't made bread on a regular basis since the kids were taking lunches to school. As I recall it only used 1 package of double rising yeast
Ok = 8 left and hungry - lunch time. bbl
Oh I have the bottom row. 43 left though.
34 left
morning lovelies! :)
Hi Jes!
A word from DH on white whole wheat. It comes from a different strain of wheat, but it is indeed, whole wheat

hello all
hello doren! we are planning a rouadtrip
oh they are fantastic! i went once after major rains and have a few pix.. have been there several times actually
and there is no charge for the falls
We hope to amke a road trip, Dorens,. Are you in?
my parents talk about paterson and how many things they did there in their youth
but owl, at our age, we can buy a golden age pass which lets us into national parks (thinking sandy hook!!) for free
i am not quite there yet
I have that pass actually
wo think what you call making fabric from yarn - pt

oh, i thought we were same age.. forgot. you are 72 and i am 71!

Oh, You Kids!
I'm the youngest, at 65
But you can take a passenger

well i'm on my way out to enjoy the warmth (i think it is actually over 20 right now).. have to make a costco run. see you later
You can show us around Dorens
Bye Dorens
mmmm costco, they had somem good samples and no la tur, doren

no, but i did find la tur at shoprite. am avoiding it right now... want to lose a couple of pounds
when it's warm. lol
but something from france that looked awfully like it, cow's milk
cow's milk? most cheese is, unless it is labelled goat or sheep
ineed to go buy a tv. would you beleive i was trying my best to buy one yesterday at target but these was no one who knew anything there? I ordered one and after waiting 10 min i left.
most likely i'd meet you guys at great falls if you go when i'm around. let me know when. and now i am tugging on the warm boots and going (if you know what you want owl, go online to amazon or J and R)
i will check, was it a soecific brand?
la tur is la tur.. that is the brand
i thought it was sheep cows and goat together
poof
I thought you meant later!
It's froo froo cheese Hoot. I had never heard of it until reading here.
I want a repeat of trip in spring. BF has vacation and unless there is another hurricane or earthquake we will be heading for PA!
How can cheese be froo froo?
Don't know. That is how we refer to fancy stuff 'round these parts.
Whatever those parts are.
whose parts?
It means where I come from.
I have heard rumors of $50 per pound cheese but never seen one. Not even on food network
where Molls is
me either
does it have truffles, I wonder?
can't see it. AL cheeses are fermented milk, what make one froo froo
That did occur to me but never heard of one
Google says 15 year old cheddar goes for that much. Can't say I really want cheese that has been around for that long.
usually the process or an ingredient

Suppose for a moment that the automobile industry had developed at the same rate as computers and over the same period: how much cheaper and more efficient would the current models be? If you have not already heard the analogy, the answer is shattering. Today you would be able to buy a Rolls-Royce for $2.75, it would do three million miles to the gallon, and it would deliver enough power to drive the Queen Elizabeth II. And if you were interested in miniaturization, you could place half a dozen of them on a pinhead. -- Christopher Evans

<Considering how to break a Soodle-toe in a painless way, to avail of many duvet days....
Suggestions on a postcard, please, to Soodle, Ireland.
Step One: Don't look where you are going. Step Two: Hook toe on chair that is sticking out in a way that it does not belong. I don't recommend it. It was four weeks of annoying pain. And the one slipper and one shoe look leaves something to be desired.

Whatever you do, DON'T go to the emergency room if you think one of your little toes is broken. There is nothing they can do for it and they will twist your foot into a position that will make you pass out in pain in order to x-ray it. Find a nice doctor who will prescribe pain meds.
The amount of times I used to nearly trip on Lurk the cat was not good
Oh, for heavens sake, Molly. I don't intend to actually break my toe!! But, its good to have the gorey details if I eve need to use it as an excuse not to go to work...(increasingly likely at 01.15 am on a Sunday night/Monday morning :-P

Soodle have you tried udder cream?
I know others with psoriasis, soodle, and I know it sucks. I have struggled at times with sebhorrhea (sp?) and that awful itchy pain and such is no good.
Nope Herin... never heard of it. Is it really udder cream???
Yes. Are you rural or city?

Rural. Very very rural.
Ok do you have a feed barn cattle supplier?
Erm, not really sure... there are loads of dairy farmers round about me thoug....
Soodle, it's called "Bag Balm", yes, it's really udder cream.
And have you ever tried dietary changes for the psoriasis?
See if you can get a small amount of udder cream from a farmer. It is used for cow boobs
The reason I say that you could use the diary farmers variety is that it is the same thing but cheeper
That was my other suggestion natropath unless you are like my mum and nothing works
Wow. Just googled it. It looks good, but I truly believe that topical solutions are a stop-gap when it comes to psoriasis. The main problem comes from within the body.
But it makes you feel this scaly. I use my friends recipe and it works but it is home made and stuff
I have tried everything Molly. I gave up alcohol, dairy products. carbs, everything. I know in my heart and soul its all stress related.
If I could de-stress, I know I would be grand....
I use goat soap but as I said I am lucky my friend is a natropath and makes all skin care stuff.
soodle - *butting in* - my daughter had psoriasis as a kid - you need to use a product that contains urea, like Eucerin. Doesn't cure it, like you said, but will ease the symptoms

Is wondering what a potato k**** is? Hello folks.
Ah! Just seen welki's clue below that and know now. I've finished - just came in for a nosey around.
one of the good ridiculously fattening jewish ethnic foods
Hi Jac
Actually, I still don't really know what that form of potato dish is. Anyone like to enlighten me as to what the recipe is?
Hi Dorens & Molly.
seasoned mashed potatoes that are made into a sort of pattie and fried
Ah! Thanks Dorens. Any cheese in it?
my mother in law used to first stuff them with a spiced meat mixture - heavenly no cheese.. wouldn't be able to serve them on a table with meat if there were
Hmm, the ones I have had are like a flaky pastry stuffed with seasoned potato filling. Must be some other ethnic version.
there's meat or potato ones for a meat meal or dairy
no that is right. they often have a pastry around them. my mother in laws were weird
Dorens - cheese not allowed with meat ever or only at certain times?
Dorens - I like that phrase, 'my mother in laws were weird'. How many have you had?
if you are kosher no meat with dairy
separate dishes too
I've had lots of 'potential' mother-in-laws, and most of them were weird. I wonder how I seem to my children's b/fs and g/fs?
haha.. sorry i forgot my apostrophe!!
Picklesny - thanks for the info. I really should know that, given all the Jewish friends I have.
i know lots of jewish people.. very few keep kosher kitchens
what's the use of friends around the world if you can't share some culture
Pickles - got it on the nail!
true, dorens, very expensive and a lot of work. excuse me 4 sets of dishes if you are keeping kosher
but some (like my mother in law in fact) followed the dietary laws in her own fashion. like.. i couldn't butter my bread or put butter on a baked potato if meat was on the table... but she would let me take it to the kitchen counter and do it there, then bring it to the table and eat with everyone. No one could drink milk with meat sandwiches. But she made lasagna all the time.. meat and cheese in the same dish!!
The problem with 'kosher' when related to meat, is that it causes suffering to the animal in question.
how is that jac?
Good evening Babblers.
hi wh
Good evening, wht.

Dorens - LOL! That sounds like the mixed up messages my old head mistress gave us when she was teaching RE (Religious Education) and a wasp came into the classroom. She got tired of people screeching and swatting, and jumping around and so said, 'Just kill it!' It settled on a window and the girl nearest picked up the book to hand (The Bible) to kill it with. 'No! Don't use that!' yelled the Head. The girl opened her desk and swatted it with an atlas instead.
Was it a lovely day in MA, wht?
Some believe that the kosher slaughtering process causes more pain to an animal than the regular slaughtering process.
It was sunny but cold. But it was a lovely day because the Patriots won last night.
Hi Wht. Shut up about the Patriots. : P
Dorens - because a bullet to the brain leads to instant death. Having your throat cut takes longer.
Sorry, I didn't know you were a Denver fan.
Ah, yes. It was here, as well.
oh. i'm not aware of that. i do know that koshering a chicken is a lot like brining a chicken, which is delicious
oh well. i guess so. but then again humans have been slaughtering and eating meat since before bullets were invented. tradition.....
Dorens - are you talking aout cooking methods rather than killing methods?
Denver fan in mourning. : (
Dorens - humans used to chop the heads off things to kill them.
yes. koshering a chicken is not slaughtering, but not cooking either. it is what some people do
yes, indeed. off with their heads!
Hello Babblers!
Hello, Mark Jones.
Mind you, I think I have read somewhere that it takes about 3 minutes when a human is beheaded for either the body or the brain to realise that. Scary thought!
Molly, I had expected it to be a closer game than it was.
hi mark. haven't seen you around lately. glad you are still making use of your pro status and playing.
Hi Mark
I know, I have been here rarely. I do my best to get on though.
help with the first in 5/12 please
Hello Mark.
Hi Jacula! How are you?
Kaz - first in5/12 is hopeless at doing anything! Totally in5.12!
Okay Mark. And you?
tyvm Jac :)
Wht, I think everyone expected it to be a closer game. I don't know how a team gets to the playoffs and then chokes like that.
I am doing great.
y/w Kaz.
giants had a great game this evening
Glad to hear it, Mark.
Oh hey Jac, thanks for sharing. Will sleep with the lights on tonight.
The playoffs have been completely whack this year!
who do you think will end up playing in the superbowl mark?
<---Burns cheese head and tries to muster up some way to root for San Francisco to win the Superbowl
I have no idea, everything has changed. Underdogs are wi6!
in 6/39?
Molly - sorry!
what is cheesehead molly? (i love cheese)
It will be easy to root for San Fransisco against the Giants.
in 6/39 -- how the girls got their extensions into their hair
A cheesehead is a generic name for a fan of the Green Bay Packers, because they are from Wisconsin.
Nice clue, Dorens!
A cheese head is what the Packers fans wear. A big, styrofoam wedge of cheese on their heads.
oh.. silly me. sorry
thx Dorens..I've been looking for that forever!
ty jac and yw kaz
I've no idea what you lot are on about when you start talking sport, let alone US sport. LOL
Hmm. We are talking about football.
But American football, not what Jac would think of as football.
I think it's going to be a 200+ grid next, simply because the weekend is over.
That's true.
what - correct!
Mark - thanks - wasn't sure if it was 'football' or baseball.
wht, I meant, not what. Sorry!
That's odd. We Americans are very hip to UK sports.
Yes, I love both cricket and soccer, primarily.
Molly - maybe a lot of UK people are au fait with US sports, too, but I'm not one of them.
Some people just aren't into sport in general.
Or sports
May I have the e on the last right column for NBT?
Cricket is extremely boring, but it's nice to sit on a village green and read and doze and eat scones with jam in the sunshine, and occasionally look up at the action. Soccer was exciting when George Best played but I've lost interest in it now.
Hmm. I think soccer is full of action, but it cannot compare to baseball or basketball.
ey4/6, Mark. Seeing orb with a consonant at the end that is not dee.
And then switch the letters around for the other one.
clue for the fe5?
Hands down, I think golf is the most boring sport there is to watch. It may be fun to play, but I could pass out from boredom watching a golf match.
wht - fe5 - you might fake a sword lunge in order to confuse your opponent. You also see fe5 ruled paper.
NBT
Molly - yes, that is true re golf.
I agree Molly. I like to play golf, but I sleep when watching it
ty jac.
I can't play golf - I'm blooming hopeless at getting the ball in the hole!
y/w, wht.
Mind you, it might be fun to watch ME trying to play golf! LOL
Yes, probably. But I cannot stand watching Woods or Mickelson or whoever else play golf.
<--thought I heard Jac .. saying she putters around?
Surely chess must be the most boring thing to watch?
NO. Absolutely not. Chess is great to play and watch.
Hi ruru!
hey mark
What I do like is listening to all the crap sports commentators come out with when trying to fill the boring gaps in sports programmes.
Hi ruru.
That is true.
Crapping is a sport?
Ha! lol
ruru - it should be!
do they have a Super Bowell?
LOL, ruru!
<---betting Madonna would do THAT one too
You guys crack me up.
..and he's bending over the bowl. He's hovering... is is going to go for the big one...
lol
Ok, ok. No more of this
Both teams are flushed with pride
I dare not commentate further for fear of being chucked off the chog!
Nobody can actually do that, jac.
Truly.. you need a lot of intestinal fortitude to play in those games
The chog heads directly to the sewer one more time.
Clue for the ne6,33?
Dr_God can, Mark.
kind of a paper's up to date article wht
True, but...it would definitely be worth it!
wht stupid spelling for what sounds like a topical subject. i.e. 'Thank you for your ne6.33 letter'.
ty jac and ruru
ne 6 not oldsie
ruru - good clue!
thanks ruru
the ne6,33 is more like kind of not old.
rure, that looks like the ne6,30.
ne6/33 - ne + when you **** upon a star.
oh.. missed the 33 sorry
I literally forgot that there was an H in the puzzle...that opens up new possibilities
Disney and an old Perry Como song for the we6/33 ending.
rhymes with those who keep kosher
Mark - only for 3 words as I recall!
maybe more than three jax
Darn. I have all three
four
FI**
five actually
Sorry, 4!
five? *Scrolls back trough list of words found*
I didn't know that you had a trough list of words! May I have some water?
i had no idea any words started with yw
LOL, Mark. I should have typed 'through' as youn well realise!
Here's a glass of water anyway...
Thank you.
I really MUST change the old knackered keyboard for the new one soon.
Wow. I just got a new mouse with colored lines all over it. Looks pretty cool.
ba5/14
Do we have a we6-33?
Pickles - you can't get married in a British church until the ba5 of marriage have been read out for 3 weeks running.
old fashioned word for announcing an engagement
gap - childish way of saying 'I won'?
OK, bed time for me. I will see you all tomorrow and have a good time on the chog! Bye!
'Goodnight Mark Jones.
wi6/33 - there is no we6/33.
not getting that ba?
ba* - to forbid or abolish something. Add same consonant after and then pluralise it.
ty, jac
y/w Pickles. The word comes from Middle English with only the one consonant at the end. The French did the rest.
be6/24?
Like an old-fashioned women's hat but change the first vowel.
Fireworks
first be 6 or second be 6
Pickles - middle English again, I'm afraid. It's a herb but try the author Jane Austen's heroine from Pride and Predjudice's surname before marriage - Elizabeth
ty, wht
curses middle english!!
Sorry I can't stay for this fascinating lesson in middle english but I must be away.
2nd be6 rhymes with the lawn ball game bjorn Borg excelled at.
'Night wht.
ty again
I'm so glad I studied languages!
Jacula, you explained it to me 9:17pm. Thanks.
Congrats wht!!!!!
y/w gap.
Night, wht.
I still have 19 to go....ugh!
I've got to go to bed soon, but if you're looking for ba6/24 - it's a woman's hat, normally spellled with an 'o' as 2nd letter.
pe5/12 - the male sexual organ is here, as it normally seems to be in recent grids, and so is our pet volcano et4.
I'm here for 10 more mins.
i can't figure de4/8
May I please have a clue for an7-52? Thanks
Pickles - de4/8 is nifty at doing things.
jac, couldn't see that if my life depended on it
gap - an7/52 is a stupid word an*one + not cluesless.
d + young newt.
the 2nd de6/24?
Pickles - 2nd de6/24 is what your car is or was if it got smashed into.
Jac, i have that one and the arguing one but there is one in the middle
bears do it
in the winter
hybernate?
make a ***
make a ***
Pickles, is it the de4-9 you need?
2nd de6/24
girl/boy scout de* + man's name
girl/boy scout de* + man's name

en 6/33 is en + to "roll up" like an old fashioned ball of yarn; plural for the 7
plural of the en 6/33
