How exciting for you all. :)

12:31 am

nice name sammysmom, don't hear that one very often

12:31 am

and i just hear the cat screaming to get in.... there was a fox going through the yard..... we are getting overrun with animals that do NOT belong in the city

Wow. Good thing your cat's safe.

12:32 am

marvellous, s'mom!

12:32 am

wow unusual for a fox to be in such a built up area, I'd think

12:32 am

now we have sam, (just) julia, and selena.... hopeful;ly they will take a rest now

12:32 am

I mean Selena, not the fox!

congrats sm!

12:33 am

it is flosey, but we also have a hear of about 12 deer and other wild things that are not normal for this area , including several owls and a hawk.

That's a cool bookshelf, jilli.

we are a block away from a 22 acre golf course which is being turned into a shopping mall and the animals there have no place to go

12:34 am

I thought so, neil -- must change to hedgehogs in a while...

I see jilli. Well they're cute.

Google "baby hedgehog" because I've seen some super cute photos of baby ones floating around on the web somewhere... sure you'll find some.

Oh, ok. How's the ankle coming along?

Huh. I make enough typos myself that I'd better be good at reading them.

12:39 am

I hope it's doing ok, thanks, neil -- Xrays on Feb 2 will tell the tale. Meanwhile I'm exercising it as much as advised by the physio.

What do you need help with anike?

Oh, grannyrose? What's up?

12:46 am

12:46 am

today i lost the gold chain with the solid gold cross, which was the last gift from my beloved robyn. ( she died at the age of 47 from brast cancer)

12:46 am

*breast*

oh, no

Oh no? :(

12:46 am

oh dear, granny!

Hope you find it!

Or get it back somehow... place an ad?

12:47 am

so sorry granny

12:47 am

when we got home from church, himself crawled into the shower recess, removed the drain cover, and managed to fish out the chain.

12:47 am

neil, I' ll check goodreads when I'm a bit livlier than now, ok?

Oh, god... was the cross still on it too?

Sure jilli... no rush.

Oh good, even... that's what I wanted to type.

12:48 am

wow, granny, what luck

Just didn't happen that way.

12:48 am

then he went outside and ( had to dig out of solid ground) the trap in the drain....result....one restored gold cross. i almost cried.

12:49 am

and what a great hubby

12:49 am

oh how wonderful, granny!

oh my... I would have cried. What a wonderful man!!

Oh wow... sooo glad to hear that granny!

I'm afraid I don't because I knew nothing about her, grannyrose... sorry if you've talked about her when I've been here and I've missed it? I'm often here and there when I'm logged into this site.

But I'm sure she did from what you say of course.

Aww, gran. More like a sister to you then.

I'm sorry she was taken from you. :(

How is it played?

8:49 am

Yikes! I will not complain about our 10 degrees this morning!

8:49 am

Or barmy maybe. ; )

8:50 am

... any chance of a chinook in between ... or are you trying for that old 30 days below freezing record this year?

8:50 am

if i knew i could climb out of the water, i would, crossy - what a sight we'd be

8:51 am

no chinook this week, dos - i think this will be a replay of last year's cold snap (long snap - very long snap)

8:51 am

we do not really get chinooks here, that is more out west i think

8:51 am

Yikes, Welki just got over pneumonia!

8:51 am

but they often beat us in the sheer cold dept

8:51 am

BUT on the good side, at least the lakes will freeze some good ice and i can finally get out fishing

8:52 am

indeed welki,i and hankering for some good ice fishing

8:52 am

hego, and i'm feeling it today. the doc said 6 months before i'm 100% - that the cough will linger and boyhowdy, it woke me up this moring

8:52 am

So sorry Welki, hang in there.

8:53 am

Poor you, welki.

8:53 am

oh, i'm okay, hego. thanks - just scared the bejeeezus out of me, scared to get sick again

8:53 am

... just an ancient memory of Edmonton spending something like 33 consecutive days below 0 Fahrenheit ... will stay here and suffer a few days of +10F thank you ...

8:53 am

Good morning kids.

8:53 am

SCRABS!!!!!!

8:53 am

poor welki.get well fast.some of my home made chicken soup and a few shots of bacon vodka would fix you right up

8:53 am

8:53 am

howdy scrabby

8:53 am

Good morning doseffing!!!!!

8:54 am

Hi Scrabs

8:54 am

8:54 am

Hi Dose

8:54 am

Happy Sunday, Scrabbler

8:54 am

crossy, my son in law is making bacon ale

8:54 am

mmmm

8:54 am

... g'day to any and everyone

8:55 am

lord,am i glad i quit the smokes ten years ago..as it is now, just fresh air can be an adventure some days:0

8:55 am

same to you doseffing!

8:55 am

(i posted it on your fb last week)

8:55 am

... ooh ... that sounds like scotch and water ... why ruin two good drinks by mixing them

8:55 am

Migraine is worse. Brain may explode out of left orbit. Minus 6 2 hrs ago, now plus 3. Sunny + beautiful.

8:55 am

lol

8:56 am

dos, i don't get the specialty ale thing, either

8:56 am

minus 15 here scrabbs

8:56 am

Oh Scrabs! I am sorry to hear that. You have been fighting that off for days. Can you rest today?

8:56 am

lol

8:56 am

agreed dose

8:56 am

poor scrabbs,my wife can get them for weeks, ends up with tunnel vision some days

8:56 am

uhm scrabs - can't be doing you any good to be looking at a computer screen with that monster lurking behind your eye

8:57 am

Migraine started Friday morning. I suspect the weather triggered this--low pressure.

8:57 am

you need to move to the azores scrabby as it has a endless high pressure system over it

8:57 am

hey cross - deisel engine. cetane boost - non-gelling for winter?

8:57 am

sorry to hear Scrabs

8:57 am

I used to get really bad "snow headaches".. brought on my change in atm. pressure

8:58 am

by change

8:58 am

I am happy when I am on the internet which means I am not thinking about my head. I want to ski later as it is a gorgeous day. Yesterday was just heavenly in the woods.

8:58 am

they have new things for that welki, but in the past we used to add a gallon of kerosene to a full tank of diesel

8:58 am

It sounded lovely!

8:58 am

Except my glasses kept fogging up so I took them off. Very annoying.

8:59 am

fair trade, scrabbler - distraction for pain relief :)

8:59 am

I am with you Scrabs...when I get my headaches, it sometimes helps to focus on a small area. I turn the brightness down on the screen if I am light sensitive with it.

8:59 am

my ding domg this puzzle is easy

8:59 am

get a pair of contacts for skiing and for bird watching

8:59 am

;) a clue for you

8:59 am

... My wife used a prescription drug named "Imetrex" and found it very good on migraines ... ... it was quite expensive ($20 a pill) fifteen years ago ... but it may be less expensive and non-prescription now ... ... it was very good

9:00 am

hi Alex (-:

9:00 am

I tried contact lenses 24 yrs ago and loved the visual improvements but within 1 hr my eyes got very itchy.

9:00 am

all the good migraine drugs are $$$$$

9:00 am

hi aloyisius could your name be anymore complicated?

9:00 am

rats.. maybe one of the new lenses will work for you

9:01 am

could be that the new contacts won't irritate your eyes, scrab - maybe time to give them another change

9:01 am

and chance, too

9:01 am

imitrex is now generic and cheaper

9:01 am

you can shorten it to aloy, Alex

9:01 am

I have used Imitrex in the past but have none now. Typically naproxen aborts an episode at the beginning but if not then I just ride it out for about 1-2 days.

9:01 am

I have heard too many 'bad' things about Imitrex....

9:01 am

imitrex..i will ask the dr bout it next visit

9:02 am

The triptans do have side effects so I stopped using it several yrs ago.

9:02 am

big breakfast day here - have to start cooking, so into semi-lurk mode :)

9:02 am

Scrabs...when I had my complicated migraine this past summer, the neurologist recommended propranolol. Have you considered that?

9:02 am

What are you making for us, welki?

9:02 am

today is also our big breakfast day:))))

9:02 am

is something (....)y going on here?

9:03 am

Beta blockers can trigger/worsen asthma and depression.

9:03 am

coffee refill time, brb

9:04 am

I know....that is why I didn't start them. I have too many people depending on my to have my depression symp

9:04 am

*symptoms worsen!

9:04 am

Car, I take magnesium and vitamin B as prevention, but as I have weather-triggered migraines I cannot control the weather.

9:04 am

my mrs has asthma ,is imitrx ok for her migraines if they go beyond 4 days?

9:04 am

Mine are generally set off by that as well. I take B12 but not magnesium.

9:05 am

Topamax is another preventive med but it makes people dopey so I don't want that.

9:05 am

I am a minimalist when it comes to meds

9:05 am

LOL! i am already dopey, and sneezy, and grumpy!

9:05 am

try to take as little as possible.

9:05 am

and she does not want to be a zombie on the meds either

9:05 am

lol Car

9:05 am

Car, read about MigreLief. I make my own with generic elements.

9:06 am

Crossy, Imitrex will not worsen asthma.

9:06 am

morning all

9:06 am

have friend with asthma, now the inhalers are prescription only - wonder if he ever did anything about getting a scrip for them, I should check. he's broke, no medical help, so it will have to be through the local "free" clinic and I know he's been reluctant to go there.

9:06 am

cool ty scrabbs

9:06 am

Hi Bob and rose

9:06 am

Hi Mr. Bob!

9:06 am

Hi Rbud!

9:06 am

hi, all! :)

9:07 am

the ventolin is ok rbut bit it is the beclovent and other steroid inhalers that really punch the pocketbook many are over 100 dollar for a small inhaler(100) doses

9:07 am

I will Scrabs! TY! I am off to church! I will put in a good word for you all!

9:07 am

Hi mrbob and rbud

9:08 am

howdy bob

9:08 am

ty Car and bye

9:10 am

many get in the nasty habit of taking the steriod in combination with the ventolin only till everything stabilizes then revert to just the rescue inhaler then it all goes downhill again.i know there are some new ones on the market but have not used them as the side effects give me the case of the horrors

9:10 am

Are there any generic steroid inhalers available?

9:11 am

there are, but they always top 75 dollars or more for small one

9:11 am

Fluticasone, betamethasone, etc

9:11 am

not that I've heard

9:11 am

the 200 dose ventolin or generic is about 35 dollars

9:12 am

that sounds a lot for generic

9:12 am

i have never gotten a ventolin or its generic eq for less than 30 dollars

9:13 am

that is including our 13% tax of course

9:13 am

Meds are so expensive.

9:14 am

that's quite a tax!

9:14 am

i will ask about the imitrex, but as a rule the price of good top end migraine meds make them unattainable

9:15 am

we do get a generic on that Crossy

9:15 am

lol keeps our debt down hego

9:15 am

hubby takes it

9:15 am

it it a zombie med?

9:15 am

he only needs it occasionally

9:16 am

... 15 or 20 years ago Imitrex was about $22 a pill ... but one pil taken at the right time (at onset of the headache) always worked for my wife ... ... was expensive ... but it saved my sanity

9:17 am

phone

9:17 am

... didn't notice any zombie affect ... ... and there was some concern because my wife was pregnant at the time ... but there appear to have been no effects there either

9:17 am

good

9:18 am

i shall ask about the generic version of it

9:18 am

we were very happy to see the generic come along, for sure.

9:21 am

th be's are dumb

9:22 am

12:07 pm

12:08 pm

12:10 pm

at least you are getting me to laugh about it. he will out grow this

12:11 pm

now in hindsight i am surprised my dad let me live,i mean you could of killed me off and made another one that looks just like me\

12:11 pm

he

12:11 pm

yes they usually do around age 30 or so

12:12 pm

think this is fun, wait till he drops out of that expensive college you paid for and moves back home with the pregnant GF that was kicked out of her own house..then the good times roll:)

12:14 pm

Argh! Did that happen? mine had a stalker girl friend couple of years ago. glad that one was gone

12:14 pm

i told my son as soon as he is done college, the mrs and i are moving 2700 miles away, right our on the west coast in a 800 sq foot studio loft..no room for kids

12:14 pm

Hi, kids. Happy Sunday.

12:14 pm

howdy judi

12:14 pm

hey judi

12:16 pm

You guys make me glad I never had kids! Here's a boomerang story for you: BIL's oldest son, announced a few months ago that he had neglected to pay about 20 years worth of income taxes. He has now moved back in with his parents (he's 41 years old). He is ignoring all the mail from the IRS.

12:16 pm

yikes judi

12:17 pm

omg!

12:17 pm

we are venting.

12:17 pm

i have a friend,he had a 3 bdrm house in town here, and all 3 kids moved back in with all the gf,s and bf,s so he walked up to the eldest, sold him the home for a dollar and him and him and the wife moved out instead and left it to the kids...seemed easier that way\

12:17 pm

not good judi..there is jail time waiting for him

12:17 pm

His father paid for an initial consultation with a lawyer and the lawyer spelled out what needed to be done IMMEDIATELY. He still has done nothing.

12:18 pm

oy

12:19 pm

The 41 year-old is in complete shut down/denial mode. His parents are nagging him to go see a shrink. He just does NOTHING. He has no prior criminal record, but I'm sure he's going to jail. You just don't ignore the IRS.

12:19 pm

imagine that all 3 kids back home and both daughters pregnant and the one son dating a 40 year old..i would move as well

12:20 pm

then he will go to jail

12:20 pm

one big happy family!?

12:20 pm

he has entered a fatalism mode, and it is hard to snap someone out of that judi\

12:21 pm

What's so sad is, he's educated and intelligent. He has just never had much ambition or responsibility. And, dare I say it, overly permissive and coddling parents.

12:21 pm

onyx,i think the mom and dad live out east now and are quite happy lol

12:22 pm

indeed judi

12:23 pm

All I can think of is, if that had been me that showed up at the door and gave my father that story, he would have laughed in my face and said, "though sh*t". It's your mess, deal with it." Believe me, tough love really pays off.

12:24 pm

sometimes parents can't be blamed. kids make their own choices. their own mistakes.

12:25 pm

i make my son fight for many things, then i am easy going on all educational things, stuff for his co-op course etc..it balances well

12:25 pm

True, onyx. However, his parents didn't make him move out until he was 26. He was stunned. He thought he had done something to piss them off. They just said, No, it's time for you to leave the nest.

12:26 pm

in his defense, my son wants me to just leave him alone. he wants to do things his own way

12:27 pm

Independence is good, onyx. Self-sufficiency should always be nutured. Apathy, however, should always be given a good swift kick in the arse.

12:27 pm

*nurtured* rather.

12:27 pm

you are right. i don't like hiss decisions but they are his

12:30 pm

True reward is when they come home to visit some day, get that deer in the headlights look and say, "y''know what, mom/dad? You were so right about x-y-z."

12:57 pm

12:57 pm

12:58 pm

I always seem to just miss you.

12:58 pm

i need the yos! only have one

12:58 pm

But I am here at least 3 times a week.

12:59 pm

Timing is all - but I lurk a lot and still miss you!

12:59 pm

Hmmm....

12:59 pm

Well good to run into you now.

1:00 pm

FW!

1:00 pm

And the yo's seem tough.

1:00 pm

congrats kje

1:00 pm

all start with the same frst 3 letters, hego

1:00 pm

YAY!!! KJE!!

1:01 pm

ty I see that.

1:02 pm

I was looking for actual words. lol

1:03 pm

I am making bread...and realized as I needed the dough that it didn;t seem sticky enough... the realized I had used the white whole wheat flour rather than the unbleached all purpose

1:03 pm

odds it will still be OK and not hard as a rock?

1:03 pm

well, hego... you should know better by now!

1:04 pm

It will be interesting to see how the bread comes out.

1:04 pm

could be okay.

1:06 pm

went ahead and let it rise and will bake it - we shall see

1:06 pm

it is rising - but not as high as the next loaf I made to replace it

1:06 pm

If it raises okay, it should be alright. good luck.

1:06 pm

(has to be decent as it is for guests)

1:08 pm

love the smell of yeast at work

1:08 pm

it's great.

1:08 pm

I think I will let it rise longer maybe?

1:09 pm

That may not make a difference

1:09 pm

or will that overproof it.... any bakers here? I don't usually make bread

1:10 pm

but I am a cake wizard - lol

1:10 pm

I don't think you should leave it longer.

1:10 pm

OK, thanks

1:11 pm

I forget the exact reason why, though.

1:12 pm

but if it isn't raising, leaving it longer doen't usually do much.

1:12 pm

And can make it collapse.

1:14 pm

white whole wheat - sorry left to open door. No regular flour at all?

1:14 pm

and what is white whole wheat? sounds like an oxymoron

1:15 pm

it does, doesn't it?

1:15 pm

I've bought white whole wheat flour and baked with it. But, I don't know what, exactly, it consists of

1:15 pm

kje - give it a gentle poke, if it leaves a print bake it

1:16 pm

there you go!

1:16 pm

if really whole wheat it will not rise as much as the regular flour

1:16 pm

did you punch it down after the first rising and let it rise again?

1:17 pm

I would just follow the directions and see what happens.

1:17 pm

nan - not all recipes call for a double rise

1:17 pm

I think this was the first raising.

1:18 pm

over-rise will make big bubbles that will collapse.

1:18 pm

I used a bread machine and there's always a double rise. The whole wheat setting is about 4 hours including the bake

1:18 pm

right

1:19 pm

Never used on - like the kneading and punching and pulling - releases a lot of frustration :D

1:19 pm

one

1:19 pm

what the heck is the wo 5,20?

1:19 pm

*bow to your knowledge, hoot -- only ever used the one recipe -- it made 5 loaves and you needed to punch it down when it doubled in size form it into loaves and let it rise again.

Courted, hego.

1:20 pm

that is normal bread making Nan.

1:20 pm

ty Kap and hi.

1:20 pm

nan a recipe like that would have doble rise because you'd use more yeast. also depends on yeast

Hi.

1:21 pm

Most of mine are double rise, only a few with one

1:21 pm

If I stopped baking and paid attention, maybe I would get these words. lol

1:21 pm

hi kap

Hi. I have all the f's.

1:21 pm

haven't made bread on a regular basis since the kids were taking lunches to school. As I recall it only used 1 package of double rising yeast

1:22 pm

Ok = 8 left and hungry - lunch time. bbl

Oh I have the bottom row. 43 left though.

1:24 pm

34 left

1:24 pm

Suppose for a moment that the automobile industry had developed at the same rate as computers and over the same period: how much cheaper and more efficient would the current models be? Today you would be able to buy a Rolls-Royce for $2.75, it would do three million miles to the gallon, and it would deliver enough power to drive the Queen Elizabeth II. Sorry. To clarify... I watched 3 eposides of DA, one after the other, with no interferance.

7:05 pm

I watched an entire season of LOST one day when I was in bed with a broken toe.

7:06 pm

My idea of heaven is a day in bed, with a whole box-set of a great series.... Now THATS a duvet day!

7:07 pm

<Considering how to break a Soodle-toe in a painless way, to avail of many duvet days....

7:08 pm

Suggestions on a postcard, please, to Soodle, Ireland.

7:11 pm

Step One: Don't look where you are going. Step Two: Hook toe on chair that is sticking out in a way that it does not belong. I don't recommend it. It was four weeks of annoying pain. And the one slipper and one shoe look leaves something to be desired.

7:13 pm

And you need someone to fuss over you and bring you good food and drink. Hi Herin.

howdy

7:16 pm

Oh, yet again, I bless my lucky stars for the day I joined Babble. Where else on earth are you going to glean such information? thank you Molly, and hi Herin :-)

howdy

7:20 pm

Whatever you do, DON'T go to the emergency room if you think one of your little toes is broken. There is nothing they can do for it and they will twist your foot into a position that will make you pass out in pain in order to x-ray it. Find a nice doctor who will prescribe pain meds.

The amount of times I used to nearly trip on Lurk the cat was not good

7:23 pm

Oh, for heavens sake, Molly. I don't intend to actually break my toe!! But, its good to have the gorey details if I eve need to use it as an excuse not to go to work...(increasingly likely at 01.15 am on a Sunday night/Monday morning :-P

My birth sisters are being funny. One of them tagged all the girls on Facebook with a pic f twins and the caption ''Dude just joking you are not adopted''. I said That is funny because I escapedv

7:24 pm

Oh in that case it's "I think I broke my toe, the doctor said to stay off it for a day." Then wean the story down to it was just a fracture.

7:25 pm

Sisters can be funny that way.

7:26 pm

Nope, I'm thinking more like 'I broke my toe, by hooking toe on chair that is sticking out in a way that it does not belong'.

One of the girls is not happy

7:27 pm

Oh oh... tagging people on FB can have unhappy results.

Well it is funny they just need to lighten up

7:30 pm

Of course! Though, my kids have taken some pics of me that I would rather not go worldwide. One of which I bear a remarkable resemblance to Uncle Fester from the Adams Family....

7:31 pm

*Arranges to send Soodle get well chocolates for her broken toe*

7:31 pm

slainte, soodle! *offers a nice mug of ale* hey all

7:31 pm

wait broken toe?? *adds pallet of bubble wrap*

7:31 pm

<--Chump change, doesn't get offered ale

7:32 pm

Hey Stid ((())). No broken toes at all, just trying to blag a week or too off work!!

7:32 pm

erm, two, not too...

7:32 pm

oh -- I see. Would trade you my tummy troubles of today if that would help?

Hi Stid.

7:33 pm

sorry, the ale was for everyone... LOL I am not all here at the moment.

7:33 pm

hey lady!

7:33 pm

I will see your tummy troubles, and raise you a bout of arthritis, psoriasis and an earache.

Well I am the adopted one if I can giggle why not

OOO we just bought some cider :D

7:34 pm

"Blag" I know that one. Learned it from The Book Of Everything Fecking Irish.

7:34 pm

hm. *considers* okay, arthritis, tummy and earache; raise asthma attacks (2) today out of the blue and the hip is out of socket again.

7:34 pm

Yay Molly. You are almost a Native Irish speaker :-)

Stid you need bubble wrap

7:36 pm

This is starting to sound like the sitting room of the old folks home.

7:36 pm

what I need, lady, is a job. a focus for my life. not this endless waiting around wondering which day I will work, where, and whether the kids will be focused or out of control. *sigh* I think the tummy issues are likely psychosomatic...

Job that is a new one for me. I can't get a job because i have no references

7:37 pm

<---- would do anything on earth to rid self of Psoriasis. I am more like an armadillo than a human at the moment. Wherever I go, I leave a trail of dead skin behind me. I should have a bell, and shout 'Unclean' as I go about my daily business.

7:37 pm

oh, that is really rough. Yes, I know how that feels, lady

Soodle have you tried udder cream?

7:38 pm

I know others with psoriasis, soodle, and I know it sucks. I have struggled at times with sebhorrhea (sp?) and that awful itchy pain and such is no good.

7:39 pm

Nope Herin... never heard of it. Is it really udder cream???

Yes. Are you rural or city?

7:39 pm

< having vivid mental images of udder cream.....

7:39 pm

Rural. Very very rural.

Ok do you have a feed barn cattle supplier?

7:40 pm

Erm, not really sure... there are loads of dairy farmers round about me thoug....

7:40 pm

Soodle, it's called "Bag Balm", yes, it's really udder cream.

7:41 pm

And have you ever tried dietary changes for the psoriasis?

See if you can get a small amount of udder cream from a farmer. It is used for cow boobs

The reason I say that you could use the diary farmers variety is that it is the same thing but cheeper

That was my other suggestion natropath unless you are like my mum and nothing works

7:43 pm

Wow. Just googled it. It looks good, but I truly believe that topical solutions are a stop-gap when it comes to psoriasis. The main problem comes from within the body.

But it makes you feel this scaly. I use my friends recipe and it works but it is home made and stuff

7:44 pm

I have tried everything Molly. I gave up alcohol, dairy products. carbs, everything. I know in my heart and soul its all stress related.

7:45 pm

If I could de-stress, I know I would be grand....

I use goat soap but as I said I am lucky my friend is a natropath and makes all skin care stuff.

7:46 pm

soodle - *butting in* - my daughter had psoriasis as a kid - you need to use a product that contains urea, like Eucerin. Doesn't cure it, like you said, but will ease the symptoms

7:46 pm

Hey, but thanks for the suggeston, and I will try the udder cream, Herin.

7:46 pm

psoriasis, on a large scale, is hereditary - blame the dna

7:46 pm

Stress will definitely manifest in the skin and the hair. *Sends de-stressing waves of peace to Soodle*

7:46 pm

<-- likes the smell of Bag Balm

7:47 pm

sure. blame the mother. good idea, welki! *wicked mama grin*

7:47 pm

hey, stid - said MY kid had it, so yep, pile it on *lol*

7:48 pm

Flippin' DNA!!!! My siblings got the good looks, the brains etc.. I got the psoriasis. Go figure!!

7:48 pm

hmm - on second thought, i don't have psoriasis. blame the other responsible party :)

7:48 pm

The name Bag Balm is ten shades of wrong. Guys refer to their scrotum as "my bag"

7:48 pm

I had very little acne as a child/teen, but one of my kids has struggled with it for years and years -- even had that "infant acne" -- my guilt is incredible over that even...

The other thing is bathing in oats

7:48 pm

I bet it would work on those sorts of bag issues too, Molly... *innocent mama look*

7:48 pm

(soodle, the urea in eucerin combats that scaly oogy stuff)

7:49 pm

ROFL Molls

7:49 pm

Oats are very good for the skin. They do wonders for poison ivy and allergic rashes.

Oat bag. Sorry i don't have my witches bible )GRIN) near me

7:49 pm

chicken pox + oatmeal bath = too many times to count with children

7:50 pm

I went for a fish pedicure whilst on holiday..... Dis-Gusting, but effective

7:50 pm

ohhhh, did it feel weird?

7:50 pm

I had no acne issues as a teen and two of my sons had to take the heavy duty acne medication to get rid of cystotic acne.

7:50 pm

aha! down to FORTY!

7:51 pm

Oh, my heart goes out to acne sufferes.

The best thing for feet -Mr Pumice

7:51 pm

<---Will stick to a pumice stone rather than let fish nibble at her feet

7:52 pm

At least my leprosy (aka psoriasis) is confined to places unseen by the general public.

7:52 pm

I think I will finish drinking my tea and go get the kiddo from town. Want to leave a little early today.

7:52 pm

(((Stiddy)))

7:53 pm

soodle, I hope that your skin woes diminish quickly and that you will have abundant energy.

Loves stidy

Hi anyone I missed

7:53 pm

Molly, your wisdom and humor always make me smile.

7:53 pm

I have one of those fun little "as seen on TV" foot scrubbers in my shower too.

O and question please

7:53 pm

Lady, I am just happy I got to see you -- I miss our conversations!

7:54 pm

Knocking on for 2.00am here. Not a broken toe in sight, so I guess its work for me in the AM. Goodnight all, and thanks for your suggestions.

7:54 pm

And welki... someday we really must go fishing...

7:54 pm

Don't know about wisdom Stid, but I do my best to throw the humor around when I can.

7:54 pm

See you-all again soon I hope. *poof*

I blame my friends for buying me computer games

7:54 pm

Sweet dreams Soodle. You need to get more sleep.

7:54 pm

would be fun, stid - coming to alberta this summer?

7:55 pm

oops - she's gone *poof*

7:55 pm

anyone see jmc this weekend? i've been zigging and zagging and miss her

7:55 pm

ta7/32, anyone?

Do you think a Pandora style bracelet would be a lovely future 21st birthday present for my friends little girl on all the things she was interested in on her Birthday each year

7:56 pm

She hasn't been around much lately Welki. Last I heard, she was waiting on a friend to come visit.

Hi Pickle

7:56 pm

hi, herin

7:56 pm

thanks, molly - glad she's okay, just waiting for company to call :)

7:57 pm

Not sure Herin. I'm not really into the Pandora craze.

7:57 pm

hi pickles (ta7 = sort of beige-y)

I mean like Pandora. Charm Bracelet?

7:58 pm

you mean that you'll buy it now, when she's little, and add to it each year?

7:58 pm

Yep, I knew what you meant. It's all the rage here, but I can't quite understand why.

I like the idea of Pandora for no fiddling

I like the idea of Pandora for no fiddling

Yes Welki.

7:59 pm

wow - that's one heck of a long term committment

7:59 pm

According to the guys in my office, those charms are not cheap.

like on her first birthday I bought her bath crayons,

8:00 pm

how old is she now, herin?

So I would get a charm of crayons. Like a story quilt. She is only a year and a bit old

Hola

Hi Science

8:01 pm

sounds like a great idea, but if you're looking for a devil's advocate, i'd suggest that (1) friendships can turn the other way over time and (2) Pandora-style bracelets might not be popular in 20 years

I am 57a out but too tired.to hunt!

8:01 pm

hi science

Welki!

But Charm bracelets are. I have my mothers Silver pennies braclet

8:03 pm

then go for it, it's a sweet idea :)

And we have been friends for err 9 plus years now.

8:05 pm

<---Would love a story quilt

8:05 pm

time to go ... g'night everyone!

8:05 pm

nite, welki

8:06 pm

still can't get ta7

Molly I could make a story quilt but the work yessh.

Hi pickle night Welki

8:06 pm

(the color, ta* + a potato k****)

8:07 pm

<-- has been craving a potato k**** all weekend. i need to move back to new york :)

One of my old class mates youngest kids got stuck in a lift well. Thank fully the kid is ok

8:08 pm

got it, that took brain power

8:08 pm

New York is the only place you will get a good one, Welki.

Well I must be off. I have to go and do house hold chores

8:18 pm

that's true molly.. but some new ork suburbs do a good job too

8:19 pm

Is wondering what a potato k**** is? Hello folks.

8:20 pm

Ah! Just seen welki's clue below that and know now. I've finished - just came in for a nosey around.

8:20 pm

one of the good ridiculously fattening jewish ethnic foods

8:21 pm

Hi Jac

8:21 pm

Actually, I still don't really know what that form of potato dish is. Anyone like to enlighten me as to what the recipe is?

8:21 pm

Hi Dorens & Molly.

8:21 pm

seasoned mashed potatoes that are made into a sort of pattie and fried

8:22 pm

Ah! Thanks Dorens. Any cheese in it?

8:22 pm

my mother in law used to first stuff them with a spiced meat mixture - heavenly no cheese.. wouldn't be able to serve them on a table with meat if there were

8:23 pm

Hmm, the ones I have had are like a flaky pastry stuffed with seasoned potato filling. Must be some other ethnic version.

8:24 pm

there's meat or potato ones for a meat meal or dairy

8:25 pm

no that is right. they often have a pastry around them. my mother in laws were weird

8:25 pm

Dorens - cheese not allowed with meat ever or only at certain times?

8:25 pm

Dorens - I like that phrase, 'my mother in laws were weird'. How many have you had?

8:26 pm

if you are kosher no meat with dairy

8:27 pm

separate dishes too

8:27 pm

I've had lots of 'potential' mother-in-laws, and most of them were weird. I wonder how I seem to my children's b/fs and g/fs?

8:27 pm

haha.. sorry i forgot my apostrophe!!

8:27 pm

Picklesny - thanks for the info. I really should know that, given all the Jewish friends I have.

8:27 pm

i know lots of jewish people.. very few keep kosher kitchens

8:28 pm

what's the use of friends around the world if you can't share some culture

8:28 pm

Pickles - got it on the nail!

8:29 pm

true, dorens, very expensive and a lot of work. excuse me 4 sets of dishes if you are keeping kosher

8:29 pm

but some (like my mother in law in fact) followed the dietary laws in her own fashion. like.. i couldn't butter my bread or put butter on a baked potato if meat was on the table... but she would let me take it to the kitchen counter and do it there, then bring it to the table and eat with everyone. No one could drink milk with meat sandwiches. But she made lasagna all the time.. meat and cheese in the same dish!!

8:30 pm

The problem with 'kosher' when related to meat, is that it causes suffering to the animal in question.

8:30 pm

how is that jac?

8:32 pm

Good evening Babblers.

8:32 pm

hi wh

8:32 pm

Good evening, wht.

8:32 pm

hi. wht

8:33 pm

Dorens - LOL! That sounds like the mixed up messages my old head mistress gave us when she was teaching RE (Religious Education) and a wasp came into the classroom. She got tired of people screeching and swatting, and jumping around and so said, 'Just kill it!' It settled on a window and the girl nearest picked up the book to hand (The Bible) to kill it with. 'No! Don't use that!' yelled the Head. The girl opened her desk and swatted it with an atlas instead.

8:33 pm

Was it a lovely day in MA, wht?

8:33 pm

Some believe that the kosher slaughtering process causes more pain to an animal than the regular slaughtering process.

8:34 pm

It was sunny but cold. But it was a lovely day because the Patriots won last night.

8:34 pm

Hi Wht. Shut up about the Patriots. : P

8:34 pm

Dorens - because a bullet to the brain leads to instant death. Having your throat cut takes longer.

8:34 pm

Sorry, I didn't know you were a Denver fan.

8:34 pm

Ah, yes. It was here, as well.

8:35 pm

oh. i'm not aware of that. i do know that koshering a chicken is a lot like brining a chicken, which is delicious

8:35 pm

oh well. i guess so. but then again humans have been slaughtering and eating meat since before bullets were invented. tradition.....

8:35 pm

Dorens - are you talking aout cooking methods rather than killing methods?

8:35 pm

Denver fan in mourning. : (

8:36 pm

Dorens - humans used to chop the heads off things to kill them.

8:36 pm

yes. koshering a chicken is not slaughtering, but not cooking either. it is what some people do

8:36 pm

yes, indeed. off with their heads!

8:36 pm

Hello Babblers!

8:37 pm

Hello, Mark Jones.

8:37 pm

Mind you, I think I have read somewhere that it takes about 3 minutes when a human is beheaded for either the body or the brain to realise that. Scary thought!

8:37 pm

Molly, I had expected it to be a closer game than it was.

8:37 pm

hi mark. haven't seen you around lately. glad you are still making use of your pro status and playing.

8:37 pm

Hi Mark

8:37 pm

I know, I have been here rarely. I do my best to get on though.

8:38 pm

help with the first in 5/12 please

8:38 pm

Hello Mark.

8:38 pm

Hi Jacula! How are you?

8:39 pm

Kaz - first in5/12 is hopeless at doing anything! Totally in5.12!

8:39 pm

Okay Mark. And you?

8:39 pm

tyvm Jac :)

8:39 pm

Wht, I think everyone expected it to be a closer game. I don't know how a team gets to the playoffs and then chokes like that.

8:39 pm

I am doing great.

8:40 pm

y/w Kaz.

8:40 pm

giants had a great game this evening

8:40 pm

Glad to hear it, Mark.

8:40 pm

Oh hey Jac, thanks for sharing. Will sleep with the lights on tonight.

8:41 pm

The playoffs have been completely whack this year!

8:42 pm

who do you think will end up playing in the superbowl mark?

8:42 pm

<---Burns cheese head and tries to muster up some way to root for San Francisco to win the Superbowl

8:42 pm

I have no idea, everything has changed. Underdogs are wi6!

8:43 pm

in 6/39?

8:43 pm

Molly - sorry!

8:43 pm

what is cheesehead molly? (i love cheese)

8:43 pm

It will be easy to root for San Fransisco against the Giants.

8:44 pm

in 6/39 -- how the girls got their extensions into their hair

8:44 pm

A cheesehead is a generic name for a fan of the Green Bay Packers, because they are from Wisconsin.

8:44 pm

Nice clue, Dorens!

8:44 pm

A cheese head is what the Packers fans wear. A big, styrofoam wedge of cheese on their heads.

8:44 pm

oh.. silly me. sorry

8:44 pm

thx Dorens..I've been looking for that forever!

8:45 pm

ty jac and yw kaz

8:45 pm

I've no idea what you lot are on about when you start talking sport, let alone US sport. LOL

8:46 pm

Hmm. We are talking about football.

8:47 pm

But American football, not what Jac would think of as football.

8:47 pm

I think it's going to be a 200+ grid next, simply because the weekend is over.

8:47 pm

That's true.

8:47 pm

what - correct!

8:48 pm

Mark - thanks - wasn't sure if it was 'football' or baseball.

8:48 pm

wht, I meant, not what. Sorry!

8:48 pm

That's odd. We Americans are very hip to UK sports.

8:49 pm

Yes, I love both cricket and soccer, primarily.

8:49 pm

Molly - maybe a lot of UK people are au fait with US sports, too, but I'm not one of them.

8:50 pm

Some people just aren't into sport in general.

8:50 pm

Or sports

8:51 pm

May I have the e on the last right column for NBT?

8:51 pm

Cricket is extremely boring, but it's nice to sit on a village green and read and doze and eat scones with jam in the sunshine, and occasionally look up at the action. Soccer was exciting when George Best played but I've lost interest in it now.

8:52 pm

Hmm. I think soccer is full of action, but it cannot compare to baseball or basketball.

8:52 pm

ey4/6, Mark. Seeing orb with a consonant at the end that is not dee.

8:53 pm

And then switch the letters around for the other one.

8:53 pm

clue for the fe5?

8:54 pm

Hands down, I think golf is the most boring sport there is to watch. It may be fun to play, but I could pass out from boredom watching a golf match.

8:54 pm

wht - fe5 - you might fake a sword lunge in order to confuse your opponent. You also see fe5 ruled paper.

8:54 pm

NBT

8:54 pm

Molly - yes, that is true re golf.

8:54 pm

I agree Molly. I like to play golf, but I sleep when watching it

8:55 pm

ty jac.

8:55 pm

I can't play golf - I'm blooming hopeless at getting the ball in the hole!

8:55 pm

y/w, wht.

8:56 pm

Mind you, it might be fun to watch ME trying to play golf! LOL

8:56 pm

Yes, probably. But I cannot stand watching Woods or Mickelson or whoever else play golf.

8:57 pm

<--thought I heard Jac .. saying she putters around?

8:57 pm

Surely chess must be the most boring thing to watch?

8:58 pm

NO. Absolutely not. Chess is great to play and watch.

8:58 pm

Hi ruru!

8:58 pm

hey mark

8:58 pm

What I do like is listening to all the crap sports commentators come out with when trying to fill the boring gaps in sports programmes.

8:59 pm

Hi ruru.

8:59 pm

That is true.

8:59 pm

Crapping is a sport?

8:59 pm

Ha! lol

9:00 pm

ruru - it should be!

9:00 pm

do they have a Super Bowell?

9:00 pm

LOL, ruru!

9:01 pm

<---betting Madonna would do THAT one too

9:01 pm

You guys crack me up.

9:01 pm

..and he's bending over the bowl. He's hovering... is is going to go for the big one...

9:01 pm

lol

9:02 pm

Ok, ok. No more of this

9:02 pm

Both teams are flushed with pride

9:02 pm

I dare not commentate further for fear of being chucked off the chog!

9:02 pm

Nobody can actually do that, jac.

9:02 pm

Truly.. you need a lot of intestinal fortitude to play in those games

9:02 pm

The chog heads directly to the sewer one more time.

9:03 pm

Clue for the ne6,33?

9:03 pm

Dr_God can, Mark.

9:03 pm

kind of a paper's up to date article wht

9:04 pm

True, but...it would definitely be worth it!

9:04 pm

wht stupid spelling for what sounds like a topical subject. i.e. 'Thank you for your ne6.33 letter'.

9:05 pm

ty jac and ruru

9:05 pm

ne 6 not oldsie

9:05 pm

ruru - good clue!

9:05 pm

thanks ruru

9:05 pm

the ne6,33 is more like kind of not old.

9:06 pm

rure, that looks like the ne6,30.

9:07 pm

ne6/33 - ne + when you **** upon a star.

9:07 pm

oh.. missed the 33 sorry

9:07 pm

I literally forgot that there was an H in the puzzle...that opens up new possibilities

9:08 pm

Disney and an old Perry Como song for the we6/33 ending.

9:08 pm

rhymes with those who keep kosher

9:09 pm

Mark - only for 3 words as I recall!

9:10 pm

maybe more than three jax

9:10 pm

Darn. I have all three

9:10 pm

four

9:11 pm

FI**

9:11 pm

five actually

9:11 pm

Sorry, 4!

9:12 pm

five? *Scrolls back trough list of words found*

9:12 pm

I didn't know that you had a trough list of words! May I have some water?

9:13 pm

i had no idea any words started with yw

9:13 pm

LOL, Mark. I should have typed 'through' as youn well realise!

9:14 pm

Here's a glass of water anyway...

9:14 pm

Thank you.

9:14 pm

I really MUST change the old knackered keyboard for the new one soon.

9:15 pm

Wow. I just got a new mouse with colored lines all over it. Looks pretty cool.

9:15 pm

ba5/14

9:15 pm

Do we have a we6-33?

9:16 pm

Pickles - you can't get married in a British church until the ba5 of marriage have been read out for 3 weeks running.

9:16 pm

old fashioned word for announcing an engagement

9:17 pm

gap - childish way of saying 'I won'?

9:17 pm

OK, bed time for me. I will see you all tomorrow and have a good time on the chog! Bye!

9:18 pm

'Goodnight Mark Jones.

9:19 pm

wi6/33 - there is no we6/33.

9:21 pm

not getting that ba?

9:22 pm

ba* - to forbid or abolish something. Add same consonant after and then pluralise it.

9:23 pm

ty, jac

9:24 pm

y/w Pickles. The word comes from Middle English with only the one consonant at the end. The French did the rest.

9:24 pm

be6/24?

9:27 pm

Like an old-fashioned women's hat but change the first vowel.

9:27 pm

Fireworks

9:27 pm

first be 6 or second be 6

9:27 pm

Pickles - middle English again, I'm afraid. It's a herb but try the author Jane Austen's heroine from Pride and Predjudice's surname before marriage - Elizabeth

9:27 pm

ty, wht

9:28 pm

curses middle english!!

9:28 pm

Sorry I can't stay for this fascinating lesson in middle english but I must be away.

9:28 pm

2nd be6 rhymes with the lawn ball game bjorn Borg excelled at.

9:29 pm

'Night wht.

9:29 pm

ty again

9:30 pm

I'm so glad I studied languages!

9:33 pm

Jacula, you explained it to me 9:17pm. Thanks.

9:33 pm

Congrats wht!!!!!

9:33 pm

y/w gap.

9:34 pm
