arb, read an interesting article in my daily newspaper today, about pilgrims carrying a wooden cross along the route that JC is supposed to have walked. lol, one trader actually said, that he has rounded corners on his crosses for the anglicans, and squared corners for the catholics.
berri, i agree, adelaide is a very pretty city. i just love the way that you are never very far away from anything there.
well, i'm outta here, berri and others enjoy the grid, see you all at the flip.

hi ruby, I'm only here for a few minutes
me, too, flosey
nd Happy Easter to you!
and to you ruby
ty
ty
it's funny, here the big holiday is Monday; in NY it was Good Friday.
seems odd here on the island, stores are open - don't know if they close one day or not
daughter has to work on Monday, just got today
nobody works on Monday here
in Ontario, we had Friday and Monday off but then, I worked for the government
and the French don't go to church. The little church in our village closed since we've been here, now only opens for the occasional funeral
must be a tiny one, is it?
village has about 12,000
and I had hoped there'd be a "blessing of the animals" here when we emirated
our entire island (I believe) is about 12,000
it must be beautiful there!
was about 10,000 when we came about 17 years ago
it is beautiful Ruby
how did you choose it?
we live in a farming community - very small farms by those I knew in Ontario
hubby was born and raised here - as was his Mom
do they grow asparagus?
that's a great reason!
we don't but some do, I think ours probably comes from Lower Mainland
I grew it in Ontario
hubby retired from teaching HS to become farmer
it used to be you could only get local asparagus (Fr and Belgium) in May, but now they bring it from Sou. Amer. I wn't buy it off-season
time to go! see you soon, flosey
{{big hug}}
hugs ruby, I will be going soon
only have 76 words, but must get to bed, goodnignt

hi TOwl :)
hi Owl
expert and lickety site still has 149 list up.
hi TO
I closed and opened Expert and got today's list, dawg
ahh the site just refreshed for me.
morning folks
- 6 words use the double a - one wa7 is a compound, one a comparative - the Qu is used more often than you think - for the L words, don't forget the coins - words that gave me re4 trouble: the earlier clued sa7/8; la5/12-6/21 la + doing ***d time (in prison); me7/40 ends in a curve; me7/44 ends in end; wi5/20 what the genie grants you + a vowel.
hi welki :)
hi welki
bye all, have fun :)
hagd, sprite. thanks for all the clues
morning all!
hi, sue :)
hi welki!

lol
doing well, thanks - letting the ol' man get some zzzzzz
im letting the ole lady do the same
hi crossy and wv!
howdy suze:))
ch 5/16 not a word we get often=a deep pit or other deep ravine
Hi everyone, and thanks for the clue, crossy!
howdy brooke
'morning, brookie - still toastmastering?
Absolutely! Doing a less stressful contest this season - impromptu speaking. Thanks for asking!
the best public speakers, i think, are the ones that can fly by the seat of their pants - should be a fun competition
soon you will be so good at public speaking brooke, you will be able to get one of those jobs of speaking non-answers to the press for various govt officials:) the job actually exists..quite funny really
Definitely. How are youg?
You...
Oh crossy, I do that all the time in my sales job.
lol
And to my children.
ca6/24 clue please
Gotta go now. Time for breakfast. Happy babbling, everyone!
ca 6 - house in Switzerland
sorry that is ch 6/24
fine me a swede quick..a nice tall blonde goddess..ouch! crossy rubs the back of his head..you all remember my beloved elegant?...

mm..do i dare ask for a tea while she is in the kitchen...:))
clue for sa 7.36, please
sa + short hello + part of the thing that divides rooms
that's sa 7.48, I have that one
pancake rabbit is fast;)
need sa 7/36
be back soon
sa 7/36 - speaking ironically
whoops - sorry annie
thnx welki - i needed the 7/48
back, telemarketer...grrrrr. thanks, te5
i got all those bugger on the provincial do not call list
i left a pretty colorful message on my mla's phone (and also sent an email) lambasting him for robo-calls during dinnertime, bedtime - anytime
you register, put the number of the telemarketer in your list and if they call you after (its 30 or 90 days) then they can be held accountable
and here, all telemarketing calls have a 7 second delay of dead air time at the start of the call,so if no one answers me after the second "hello" i hang up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fl5uhjJ FTiE
sa7.48 sa & v. short greeting & telemarketers drive you up the ***l
Hello everyone
howdy lynxx
check out that link..now THATS how you deal with annoying repeat telemarketers... lol
yeah, but you have to enter a whole bunch of information every time you make a complaint against a particular number on the govt do not call registry
watch at own risk, did not scan the clip that deeply for world and political correctness:)
hi Cross. We have those registers here too - only charity and market research calls come through.
it is worth it for some of these bozo,s welki
indeed lynxx\
i mean it is not that hard,no means no,mark me off on your auto dialler..i do not want what you are selling(here life insurance telemarketing is big right now)
I have caller ID so if I don't know the number I don't answer the call. I also have whistle by the phone. I've used that a few times too! hehe
hi lynxx
wooo - i like that, judy!
now, saying all the the job of being a telemarketer phone drone is nasty and would wish it on no one
but - i'd feel bad blowing a whistle into somebody's ear - they're just trying to make a living. now, if i had the ear of the schmegeggie who owns the company......
Thats odd (or is it?) they are pushing life insurance heavily here as well.....which I feel is quite strange as everyone contributes to Superannuation now and it usually carries Death & permanent Disability as a matter of course
but if i want insurance, believe me i know how to use a directory and find some
Right now I have one particular number that keeps calling and calling and calling. I've filed a complaint. It stops for a few weeks and starts up again.
can you block their number?
I think I have to pay for that service but I need to check into that, welki
if i die,the wife gets 50 grand,a widows pension and her full disability ..hell i check the brakes on the car now cause i am better off to her dead than alive now:))
lol
i get my son to taste my food for me now;))
anyone have a clue for sa7/36, my last word..please
my husband had better hurry up - he has only 18 months to knock me off
lol
Clue @8.17 Annie
I believe that was for the sa 7.48...I have that one
sa7.36 was the way of speaking , my one was for the cow sa7.48
oh yes, ironically...just dont see it
nor do i
ends a bit like the ravine word - drop the h
ty lynxx
(hard to see)
Finally...thanks, done
excellent - Congrats Annie
Now, I must dust this cave....bye dear babblers
on a side note.we were in the habit of buying a 30 pack of individual bottles of water a week(costs around 3-5 dollars) but the plastic going into the recycle bin was just insane,so i got the mrs and i one of those new britta filtered water bottles(cost 10 dollars) the filter is good for 270 refills or 3 months..works amazing!
bye Annie
yaa for annie!
tc annie
crossy, that's been a staple at our house for years
just got to the point of the plastic waste we were generating was bugging me
Yeah, I bought those for gym. We have the larger one in the fridge - but it does seem to go through the filters fairly fast
The water bottles are recycled and made into something else. Here in CT we pay a 5 cent deposit and if brought back to a store, we can get the 5 cents back
i drink our tapwater just fine, but mrs and son seem to be hyper sensitive to the chlorine, flouride and other town water additives
Our filters last about 3 months.
we do not get deposit refunds on stuff like that just on beer ,wine and booze bottles
yes, ours run 3 months as well it says
I like to take the chlorine out. And, when using yeast for bread, it inhibits the growth of the yeast
ahh,a tidbit for the tidbit man ty bichon
We only have deposits on water and carbonated beverage [including beer]
what is the sa 7, cow?
i did not know that the chlorine in tap water was enough to inhibit yeast growth when baking..very interesting...
But the clorine in water has made such a huge difference in our childrens teeth
It probably would rise the bread, but not as well
The chlorine or the flouride lynxxx?
well,it does,i bake all the time, but if i can make it better using filtered watrer...
Pregnant women and children should drink flouridated water
stupid me! the fluoride of course, the clorine just makes your hair green at the pool - sorry
but you said it is the chlorine that inhibits the yeast?
One thing I noticed is never leave the Britta filtered water in direct sunlight. Algae will grow in it
good to know
Yes, chlorine inhibits yeast, but not flouride
That makes sense...I have to treat tap water when I put it into the fish pond...to get neutralise the chemicals....but it does grow great alga at the start of spring!
and it is now time for crossys quote of the day!!
Nothing ever becomes real till it is experienced -- even a proverb is no proverb to you till your life has illustrated it. -- John Keats
(if you have ever wondered i have quotes on one computer, informational tidbits on the other) lol
True - and that must be the motto teenagers live by
yup,i told my son to move out,get a job,get a house, find a good woman and get married while he still knew it all:0
how old is he now?
18
just a few more years then
lol, till he moves back in with the pregnant gf? lol
hopefully not - surely some of your words of wisdom have sunk in!
actually he is not a bad kid, just he is his own universe atm and anything that does not affect him or his fun directly gets tossed over the side and just grunts unless it is about money or the car..standard teen stuff
could I have clues for the sa 7's. Have the 7/48, pls
sa 7/36 to talk with a bite in your voice to derride someones thoughts
ty crossy
is there one relating to a cow?
np
not sure atm
the 7.48 is a cow I believe
so there's only two sa 7's?
Not sure - not listing yet
np
2 sa7
1st sa6?
nm
I am a bit rusty - sure dont get those sa 7 clues
1st me7?
sa7 - form of low humor... saying the opposite of what you mean maybe
other one is sa+ short greeting + most of what a room has 4 of
kekpt looking for that word but could not find it - so just typed it. still dont see it tho - lol thanks
First me7 ends in the singular of the Golden things that are on the McDonald's sign.

woof, must be barking up the wrong q!
is anyone using lickety?
what about aq? i'm having problems with the a
a qu4 is wet and/or sticky; one my qu5.18 or qu5.16 a riot; one should be qu5.16 qu5.16 in the library, and never qu4 trying.
ac6 is the nearest to an aq
ac6.30 that is
that helped dc!
dc, elaborate on the qu4 that is wet and sticky
{{seain}}

our trees are just starting to bud now
This is the only time of year I refuse to go to the car wash. If I do, my car is yellow ten minutes later.

Hi Picklesny. :)
*Whistles while not noticing LilBit*
Plus you're too little to see? ;)
haha good one neil!
we;ve only been married 24 years but he has his moments
"Only" 24 years? These days, that is quite an accomplishment.

Wow. I see your player name is appropriate.
Haha. Hi and bye, viajes.

Hi Erda. :)
Hi Neil!
"any of a breed of humped dairy cattle" -- I mean, REALLY !!!
Haha! Lucky cattle.
I shouldn't have been taking a sip of coffee while reading your last post though, Erda. Nearly dangerous.
I guess a hump had only one meaning when they made that definition...
Ummm probably. lol
Probably before "hump" became a verb. :P
yup
It's kind of like the word "frigate."
phantom: squash and squirt
Pickles, nice work by your son.
ty, Molly.

mell
i never left the pb will stay all day
Looks that way.
Look for hidden Easter Eggs and Passover gelt.
No Passover gelt-how about chocolate covered matzah.
afternoon babblers!
wouldn't she be gelt-ridden?
If only I had such gelt.
hello molly, ruru, kaplan...
Oh okay, I was trying to be festive. I'll hide bitter herbs instead. How boring.
lol
hi eva
Who is the correlation to Hanukkah Harry? Passover Paltel?
how goes it?
today is a good day
it's nice outside.. and once I finish this bugger.. I plan to go out and enjoy the day
Passover Phinehas
i found it a bit cool outside. but i got up bright and early (aka, leaving the house before noon) for an eye appt.
on a saturday an eye appt?
yeah, didnt have time during the week
the better to see you with, my dear
wow..
im test-driving some daily disposable lenses. how exciting!
oh.. good luck with that
Aren't the roads a little ruogh on them?
just a little kaplan. ;)
im excited to find out that instead of further deteriorating (as they have been doing for several years) by eyes actually improved this year! yay!
mine have held steady for a long time.. now they're changing again.. I hate having to have all my glasses redone it is so freaking expensive
ive been hoping to get lasik, so i need mine to level out. at last years appt, they hadnt changed at all, and this year they are just a smidge better. dr said thats not uncommon + she predicts that next year they will stay the same.
well I am not a contact kind of person.. I can stand putting things in my eyes
can't
i didnt wear them until after college. my eyes are SO sensitive to light that i couldnt wear my glasses all the time. didnt want to splurge on prescription sunglasses, and the transition lenses dont get dark enough for me. so contacts it is!
mine are sensitive to bright light too
Hi ruru. :)
Hey, did you get my email?
good morning neil
Morning.
I really want cashew to work.. but....
See my question, ru?
no.. i need to get caught up with emails.. I've been gone all week
when did you send one?
Yesterday.
About the Boggle site.
oh.. okay.. i'll check in a bit
Ok.
oh.. great.. we might be playing on different sites?
Haha, yes. But this one is better... check it out.
okay.. i'll try to get on when you're there
I've given you step-by-step instructions there, how to register an accont. You don't have to to play, but it's better if you do... then you can connect with people you know when they join.
we'll see if your typing skills are up and running
I can be there now... or anytime in the next little while?
oh..let me check it out.. be right back
Ok. Follow the instructions I sent and register an account in the player name you want. Probably the one you use here? Then if any other Babblers join they can find you.
that's the one I play.. I will meet you at the 4's
Ok. Just updating my profile... be right there. But have you registered?
Because I couldn't find a profile for you?
And I prefer to play 5x5 btw. ;)
hi all
Ru, you came close to the PB with your nut reference. So close.
oooo are there nuts in the pb?
*Puts a big bowl of mixed nuts in the PB. Hides more Easter Eggs*
*starts poking around the chog for eggs* are they cascarones?
sa7 after the dip?
possibly a low form of humor?
nbt
you know i thought that was a phantom so didn't even try it! thx jmc
haha i have yet to find it myself just repeating a clue so glad it worked
got it

haha ty lbd
whoo hooo lbd!
<==been listening to rap
Great musical teaching tool for rhythm jmc
this is a positive rap group from south side New Orleans
makes sense jilly
i wouldn't mind rap if it weren't so negative and angry.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3x-i-Kj TRB0 try that one lbd
positive rap, almost seems like an oxymoron
my niece did a show for studio 360 about this group
no there was positive rap in the 1980s too
No, it exists lbd...plenty of Christian rappers out there...
Negataive rap? Wow... maybe I should become a rapper. Heck... if some of them who are doing it can, I probably have a chance. lol
I might have to grow my hair though.
christian rappers?
There you are, ru. That was weird... do you type even faster than me?
jesus
And if you do, I'm surprised you don't finish these grids way ahead of me... given how you just did on the boggle site?!
Haha.
Well I'm thinking I should become a rapper... since rap is so "negative", someone just said.
Gotta be some money in it?
I've played boggle a long time
I'm better with a mouse
Well yeah... same here.
Gotta play me on Yahoo sometime in their boggle game. It's called Word Racer.
The grids are better... laid out differently.
You were typing there though?
I'm slower on the 5X5 boards
Oh? I like those better.
yes.. typing
So we play on those next time. ;)
have you tried Boggle on wordsplay.net?
christin rap: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6Q_44L u3x0
I do okay there... there are some unbelievable players there
Yes Kaplan but it's better on: http://www.weboggle.info/
Haha, Jillyjill.
I'm gonna do Jewrap. :P
I'll grow out my Jew 'Fro just for that.
Ruru... invest in earplugs. lol
Matisyahu.
Jmc, i like the message, but i think it's hard for me to hear it with the beat they use. hope they keep up the good work.

sahiwal
oops, sorry
thanks sammy
great clue lil -- ty
I agree SMom. More of the endless Enable stupidity.
i just copied sammy nan :)
just screaming if frustration, folks... trying to calm down
can you give me more clues like that please sammy :)
I sometimes wonder why I keep doing these grids. Most of the time, half the words are inane.
se 5/6.... two hebrew wordes... i remember them from the bible..... not unheard of ... as a pakistanui city
it's a breed of cattle, spelled with a little s
any clues for the sa 7/36 following the mexican dip?
Dry form of humor
my nasty tongue drips sa7/36 often
my real name is a hebrew name but i'm afraid i don't many hewbrew words...and i meant can you not just type them out like the last one...it' would be a lot quicker!! :) lol
sa7, lowest form of wit/humour
ty sammy
I know Hebrew, but I don't have a clue

ooops
tyvm sammy
It's amazing how clues go overlooked here. Or maybe that is intentional.
ty sammy :)
>hangs her head in contrition
Osell
that's okay sammy, we all do it
i think sometimes th chat goes a bit too quick so people can't keep up, i know i'm like that, plus i don't always get the clue given but instead of asking again too quickly i'll try and look for it
don't worry about it sammy, i'm glad of any clues however given :)
I don't know Lilliann. I saw the same thing happen last night. The second cluer was thanked and the first cluer responded "What, am I invisible?" It's not that hard to follow chat when you have asked for a clue.
any other clues wanted before I leave?
well, i've just re read back and was about to thank nan
yw everyone :)
ty nan, i wasn't ignoring your clue
I often miss the first clue given as well
too many nan, but thanks anyway :)
i would be lost without the clues, i get half my words from them. ! and i thank everyone even if the person gives it after i have the word. lol
ditto for me too.
it is ewhen there are loads of people talking at the same time as the chat moves really quickly and so can be missed!
i have been on early in the morning after the flip and it goes so fast , hard to follow
lunch is ready - bye all :)
bye nan
bye nan, tc
hi ivesy
as 6/21?
hi liliann, molly, bichon and anyone i missed
burnt stuff...only more so
hi ivesly
ty zoom
yw bichon
as6 is more of the stuff that falls off the end of a cigarette or coal fire remnants
hi zoom
hi liliann:)
people are so touchy, these days....if players don't want to clue then they won't.....they are not doing it for the praise....just to help fellow players along!
ty lili
i agree flask and i for one am always grateful:)
i dont say anything in the early morning too wild and too much emotion .have seen people leave becuz they gave a clue and no one thanked them
I find that most of the regulars will clue, if they can
yw bichon
speaking of which....any clues for ac 7 &8 please?
i kind of count on them bichon lol. hope they know i appreciate it.
ac + **men noodle soup + continent
i'm happy to be thanked for giving a clue but i don't get upset if no-one does...
I agree with all these points. Sometimes when I ask for a clue it is because my brain is so focussed on solving it in one direction and sometimes all I need is to be told there are 2 of the same letter in the grid or that it is a compound word.
ty bichon, never would have found that without the clue!
like Bichon's last clue here for the ac word. Hers is the first clue that made sense to me!
i'm the same bugs, especially when i've been playing for a few hours and really want to get finished...you just don't see the letters going the other way
ty Bugs
that's why we are all different...some clues are easy for some people and some arent
also being from different countries around the world doesn't always help as we all have different sayings, words, meanings, tv programmes to clue off etc
I always worry that my clues don't make sense and feel grateful when someone else beats me to it
good point lilliann
i'm the same bugsaw
there are some of us Babblers who are fantastic at Babble, and others, like myself, who are just mediocre. I'm always amazed when people say: down to my last 10, am stuck, think I'll list
you both give wonderful clues!
hi lbd! and hi to all other lurkers too
i'm with you bichon...i'll list as early as i can
and bichon, you are more than mediocre
hi lbd :)
hi bugs, hi lilli
I am not very good either bichon but I love the personal challenge of this game
I try to make it at least half way. and, then there are the clues people give here
i'll get as many words a s i can then i list
me too bug. instead of starting at the a's and word forward/... i usually start at the end
also, I need to go away and come back fresh when my brain can't find any more words.
i will never be able to solve a grid in one sitting without a list
I always start with the words I can find.
I do this in steps. Also have to stop for needy dogs, hubby.
me too Babble Rabble
i just look at the grid and get the words i see straight away then i will look at the stats and find some more then instead of gerring myself worked up and spending all day playing babble even tho i enjoy the company here i will list and try and finish quickly
i go thru the tile stats and try to find words. then i look at a list. if lickety is up i go thru that list then i send the words to the clues.. lol.. we all have so many different ways. but iwould be lost without a list
yes, please keep the lists coming!
harder without lickety, but thankful for the list that people post.
ha 6/21?
I don't generally list when Lickety isn't up.
rented the apartment already.... :-(
past tense of "have" + "allow"
hi ((((((((((diane)))))))))
oops... not really past tense... just another form of the verb
i must admit i can't live without lickety and am thankful to lickety and mrp for it and also to all the people who put up lists when lickety is there
ty Diane and hi
hiya (((((( ivesy )))))))
hi diane
hi Bugsaw :-)
tyvm diane and hi
hi bichon :-)
little behind on this grid.... someone started me playing angry birds lol..now im hooked
hi br
I was just going to comment on earlier chat... it helps to leave the grid and mop a few floors... come back to it, and "voila".... a bunch of words just seem to appear !!
worked for me :-)
Hi lilliann :-)
i never sit and do the grid all at once.. too stressful. there is one person in the very early morning who gets them done so fast...a whiz
and me Diane
i love reading how everyone attacks the grid differently. I'm too OCD to not start at the top and work my way thru.
I don't either, ivesy
I always start at the top left, like reading
lol.... lbdawger... I do it the very same way !
Any help for le5.18w2ould be much appreciated!
except I work down each column , not across .
its interesting . with my shedule lately dont get to finish
angry birds ivesy??
game on facebook lil.. addicting
i try to get at le5 half of each tile then move on, but sometimes it's just do my best. usually 3/4ths of the way before I list.
uh oh, angry birds on facebook.
le5/8 is like the word for a blood sucking insect and more off deeha
Deeha... it's like a surname.... ***** & clark
*of
sorry deeha, wrong word
oh sorry, I thought she meant 5?18
Its only my brothers name!!!! Many thanks Diane
ha ha ha
I needed that one diane
I have 5 left :-) .... then I have to frost two birthday cakes !
i find angry birds is good when one is mad.. get to fire the slingshot.. relieves tension
i'll have to try it ivesy but not been on fb for weeks
hola
I saw a cute joke ivesy.... 4 growly looking birds sitting in a waiting room, and on the examination room door was "Anger Management" !!
the only thing about facebook games is having everyone see your progress...or lack of progress. is there anyway to play the games w/o posting?
I've never played it.... do I dare ?
lol good one
oh try it !
i think u can do that in privacy settings lb.. block what people see
hi viajes
it is fun and addicting. but i had to stop playing it on my phone...ran the battery down too often.
I don't like that feature either dawger.... and sometimes if you don't "allow" them to post your progress, you can't procede with the game :-(

ty soodle
sa7/48?
sa6...starts like a word for holy + use the high point tile and a vowel for the rest
<---Doesn't know why people use "French for" clues
those Canadians and their french-knowing!!!
and non-Canadian french-knowers
<---- wonders why Molly is snagging marshmallow chocs as her icon seems to indicate she is well catered for, choclit-wise!!
because some people know french molly and when you get clued over and over again with certain french, english, american etc words they stick in your mind...but i'm afraid with my memory not always mine :(
i'm not getting an sa 7 out of that though
<---- should not have any more chocolate today
sa7/8 sa and shorten word for hello and nearly the word for a brick column that houses are made of
in the pb you can have as much choc as you like

Yeah, but time and time again, people respond "I don't know French".
I got it immediately, Lilli. thanks :-)

Gads Lilliann, that is a long time to go without seeing your folks.
i and many other canadians will clue with frech molly cause we were taught it in school and just happen to have several million quebecers living next door.lol
<---- Loves France. Molly! Put France on our 'round the world itinerary' for when our numbers come up....
same reason we get lots of mexican clues from our southern u.s friends i would imagine
Horray for Lickety!
yaa for lickety!
<--- falling asleep
it sure is molly.i know people will say well, it's only france and it near to us but getting there isn't always that easy. 1, it is expensive and it is not easy for me and the bairn when hubby is working away all the time.my disability doesn't help!! plus now they are getting older and i just wish they would move back to england but they love france too much so i can't ask them to move back just for us, and now their house is on the market and they want to move to the south of france which is even further for my brother and i to travel
here you go viajes, something to nod off on...

Good point Jilly
when my granmum came over for a visit it was a wonder to behold.there she stood 4 foot 9 of solid welsh.she had to use a stool to get up high enough to twist my dads ear when he stepped out of line:))
i'm always feisty and proud of it!! :)
you always stand at the rear ru
ru is that on your license plate?
were you born in the uk then crossy?

its not the size of the boat its the motion in the ocean
was indeed,was born in watford
it's not the size of the bat..it's how you swing it
lmao ruru...and pants down lol
was born in the watford materinty home(back when such things still existed)
watford!! mmmm...my ex's mam came from there!!
ru wants to go down in posteriory
ah crossy, your family are welsh too...cool...where from in wales?

guest bbl
bfn jmc
bye jmc
now am stuck on the sa7/36... *heavy sigh*
i was born in essex, but didn't dance around my handbag or wear white high heels and fishnet stocking as i was 6 months old when we moved to surrey
my mum and da we both welsh born, but lived in various areas around london and we left in 66.my da was black sheep of family so does not talk about it much lillian.time has mellowed him and mum passed in 91.will ask him welsh roots next i see him
my uncle ian still works at kodak plant in london(if it has not shut down by now)
sa7 isthe lowest form of wit or when some one is snide or sneering
ahhh
both my dad'sparents were welsh and came from south wales
ok, will now take a breath and not get overloaded...thought I had tried that one...ty lillian
i keep my passport up and must go back sometime.we sent my brother back in 91 to represent us for mums funeral in 91
yw jilly
21 years ago..my,my
crossy misses his mum:(
i wasn't born when you left crossy...3 years later, so do you still have a british passport aswell as a canadian one?
indeed lillian
we left in 1966
sorry about your mam
i used to love to go to pontypool to see my nan and grandad
cancer got her.our family is stiff with it.da and i have both had it 3 times.it is modern advances that are giving us the cures now:)
my grandad would do veggie gardens for people and he would take me with him when we were visiting...i have loads of fond memories!
i must come over if for nothing else than ask you to make me some steak and kidney pie, some fish pie and the like..my mrs cannot stand pot pies:(( and i have to kill to get them
sorry to hear that crossy, i know you have had it and beat it and will have a good life :)
you and your's are always welcome crossy. anytime.. and stew and dumplings. roast beef and yorkshires
hungry
every day is a new day in my new life post cancer lillian.it is all good and what i consider a bonus like:) so i tend to play it full out:)
life
mmm, chicken and dumplings..my mum used to make em
and hubby makes corned beef hash..i don't like it...not his but any corned beef hash.being a southerner i would do it differently to him but i still hate corned beef hash
i do have her hooked on yorkie puds though lol
finished the sw and now all I can think about is "Splish splash I was taking a bath....."
i make a yorkshire recipie that is wild, they all come up big and tall and hollow in the centre
not chicken...it is normally beef or lamb with vegetables slow cooked and then dumplings added near the end
here, they do not like lamb, and beef is $$$ have to wait for the sales
i did chicken and dumplings once in the slow cooker
lol jilly
lamb with mint sauce ....i could justeat some
i cheated though, last 20 min i added dollops of bisquick mix to the top and covered.worked well though
bisquick mix?
instant biscuit mix
Speaking of traditional meals, we have a dish that the irish/welsh/cornish miners brought...pasties (hoping ruru won't take off on that one)
you mucst be talking of fold overs jilly
mmm
cornish pasties are nice
meat pies...my "best of" recipe has only steak, potatoes and onions...really yummy crust too
the crust makes it or kills it
some people here put carrots or other root vegies...but we like 'em "original'
have to do it old fashioned with that evil shortening
shortcrust pastry with meat, potatoes, and veg and seasoning
yep, this one has egg yolk and vinegar in it. Holds together really well...I make extra and freeze it
now crossy is hungry...
LOL...crossy, I use LARD....
come on over crossy...have a bunch frozen....
yup lard works as well
lol,you know the kitchen tool to "cut in" the shortening or the lard? my mrs came across it the other day and i had to tell her what it was..sigh...
LOL...my hubby knows what it is...then he assumes I'm making pasties....
though i was the first to introduce her to yorkie puds and now i have created a monstor.she wants them every sunday now
I use an oil based recipe for my pies
you wear pasties for you husband?
I knew ruru would come into this...ROFL
must make a mess...
talking about wales crossy, reminde me of my nan, she was never a good cook and when my brother and i would srop for school holidays she would give us tinned mushy peas with every meal, even breakfast, and runny jelly for pudding and she would make me eat a raw carrot every night so i could see the way to the toilet at bnight time...i never woke up at night!! lol
lol
up north we have yorkshire pudding with every meat on a sunday :)
during the war my granmum used to have to hide the food from my da.she went to market every day for meat and veggies, and used to keep eggs, butter and cream in a pail down the old well.my dad used to steal potatos though and go hide in the woods with his friends and roast and eat them lol
he would get busted though, cause he forgot to wash his face and it was all covered in black soot
lmao
the old ways are the good ways.my dad was only young when the war broke out and they use to live on rabbits alot in wales
my granpa was a fireman in the war and was often away.he had a short book of poems and stories made and was amazed at the things he did during the blitz
aww bless him.my family worked down the pits so were excused from fighting
survived all that and cancer ate him up at 45
anyone have the ra 7/44 please?
sorry to hear after going through all of that crossy
oh ruru, I almost fell for that....LOL
ra 7 what you use to play tennis
ra7 is what you play tennis or aquash with
*squash
him and a m8 were on watch one night on top of a 3 story building in the city, tracking impacts and reporting them.there just happened to be a pub 2 doors down and he took 5 and went to beg a pint or town for him and his friend.when he started waking back,he stopped and looted at where the building with his m8 should of been..the entire thing was now burning rubble...
some legs are getting pulled...or ruru is slipping...
he was very lucky crossy
so i only exist because of a timely love for a cold pint:)
as do most of us...lol
lol
thank you for the ra... i missed it completely
three more r's.. grrr
though i did not understand the half of 6 and half 8 8 reference when ordering draught in that time
OH ruru....isn't it always the really obvious ones...lol
this grid is kicking crossy,s butt
5 to go----->
my other grandad who is a geordie but his mam was scottish was a royal engineer and was away in the war, building or blowing up bridges and he got hurt and whilst he was recovering all his mates got killed.my mam met her dad for the first time when she was 5

No, I meant that words weren't names...that was the name of a place...
oh ok...:)

mmm, very true jilly, but knowing babblers there could be loads of words!!
Only some fit lilliann...
*sprinkles holy water on himself*
good grief...the second day of deadly shooting at Walmart....just why I never use that store if at all possible....
like that's going to make you purer!!! probably the first wash you've had in months :)
as in people killed jilly?
was there a sale or something jilly?
Yes, yesterday somewhere a police officer was killed during a robbery, today an employee was shot during a robbery...
jeez...
well.. walmart does sell a lot of guns
how awful...
have they caught the robbers?
that is true...ruru
didn't say in either incident lilliann
that was customer service lillian
so does walmart sell everything?
Yep....
the bigger stores are dry goods and grocery...
maybe they should stop selling guns as people with children shop in it
bingo lillian
maybe they should stop selling guns full stop!
hi all
unfortunatly here in the US we seem to have a phobia about guns..."They can take my guns when they pry it out of my cold dead fingers..."
we don't have shops that sell everything. we have gun shops but they only sell guns
Hi kallia
hi kallia
I don't think I could live in a country where guns are so freely available...gives me the creeps seeing police over here with guns on. Morning all
hmm, i think this connection is tenuous at best... the gunmen didn't *buy* their guns at walmart?
HI lynxx
hi lili, jilly and lynxxx
the problem is kallia, you're never going to stop guns being sold....legally is fine as people have to have the paperwork and be legal but it's the illegal gun trade you are never going to stop
true leslie ann...it's people using them, not the guns
hi lyn
brb
oh I agree there Liliann, but I believe they are very freely available legally in the US
yes they are.
we don't have the same culture here...so it's hard to understand it
i sometimes wish are police would carry guns and not just the armed response unit as all out polish have are truncheons...when my dad was a policeman it was a thick wooden one now they are thinner and not wood and they also carry cs spray but if someone is shooting at yopu they're not really going to help!!
I don't agree there lilliann...thin edge of the wedge...
*i think i've just spoken swaheli.... meant police
knew what you meant :)
so then the criminals can shoot and kill us and our police but out police can't do anything back? apart from cs spray them if they're near and they haven't been shot first??
i don't like guns and i don'tapprove of them but it seems a bit one sided!
you would really like to see armed police walking around?
WE virtually banned guns after a couple of mass murder episodes...would be interesting to see the crime statistics now
i'm not big on guns either...
they do in all the other countries, especially europe
i believe in the right to bear arms... but not weapons that have mulitple rounds and rapid fire
I don't Kallia - and they do.
I would hate it, didn't know they did in Oz lynxxx
i don't know if i'dlike to or not, but what i'm saying is that the criminals in this country carry guns and knives and aren'tafraid to use them but our police force doesn't have the weapons to match
I've never seen a police officer without arms
not all crime is gun related though...
but does the US really need to 'bear arms' anymore - the society has changed a lot since the Wild Wild West. Surely violence begets violence
and police can and have made mistakes when they have been armed
that's my feeling about it Lynxxx
hmm.. good point.. I mean I wouldn't have a gun around my house.. but I believe in the right. to.. it's in our sonstitution
i've seen armed police at airports in this country and felt a safer...saying that they can't stop a bomb!!
yeah - like the 68 yo black veteran they shot in his bed/home (a few months ago?)
absolutely. as do civilians who have concealed carry permits.
if you have a gun (police or otherwise) it is likely to be used
but being in the chicago area, IL is the only state in the US without concealed carry laws - the crime rate is terrible. to lil's point - more criminals with guns than law-abiding citizens
concealed carry permits? you mean they can carry a hidden gun legally?
i don't feel strongly either way, btw - just adding to the convo
yes
yes kallia
I think Florida, Texas, Arizona, for sure
I think also here in California too
Kansas has it
I don't think that we are in the same league for guns as us...for criminal use I mean
Colorado
yes, Illinois is the only state without.
the one thing though sad as it is ....you will never stop people having a gun or knife in any country...even if it is illegal which it is in many countries around the world...it like saying stealing is illegal, which it is, but it's never stopped!!
yes criminals do use guns, but having police or private citizens being able to shot willy nilly isn't the answer in my opinion...
How good would that feel - not knowing that the guy next to you is carrying a loaded gun!!! ****!
no of course you wont stop it, but armed police would make it worse...imo
bloody scary - remind me never to go to the States
it would feel dreadful lyn
it's kind of self defeated,,, there are many places you can't have one,,,, Walmart is probaly one,, they probably have the sign on the door as you go in,,,,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concealed _carry_in_the_United_States
we have armed police kallia
or like me .. a guy next to you "loaded"
yes, but not in the normal course of events...police are not routinely armed
but not all our police carry guns like other countries
a loaded (alcohol) guy carrying a loaded gun - sure, feeling even more worried
anyway...can you really buy guns at Walmart?
that's what caught my eye in the first place...
especially if he is also illiterate and can't read the sign on the Walmart door that says he can't enter with a gun!
yes you can
the problem is lyn, we're never going to stop people from carrying guns.there will always be an illegal trade of them
along with the groceries.....the mind boggles
it's not like, an aisle next to the cereal... it's a separate section that's got everything locked up behind glass. but still, yes i guess it's a bit alarming when you stop and think about it.
I'm more worried about that woman shopper in teh sweater aisle
of course Lill - but surely the less there are around and the the harder it is to get them - the better off we all are. We have certainly gone down in the number of mass murders we have
my brother was in the u.s at christmas in the south somewhere and he was taken to a gun fayre(he didn'twant any guns by the way)and they had missile launchers and all sorts and on the other side of the partition was a christmas fayre full of children!
and that was legal lillian...
*jingle bombs jingle bombs jingle bombs away*
yes
lol ru.....
ruru!!!!
missile launchers? what could anyone possibly want one of those for!
blow people up they don't like??
for disagreeable neighbors Kallia of course
well yes, but I cant believe they could buy one legally.....
he couldn't believe it and he has been out in afghanistan with the army
so has my son lil
he said there was all sorts of weapons
and Iraq and NI
and so many sons who didn't come back..
my brother was bosnia, 2nd gulf but he is a ta
imagine if there was no trade in weapons manufacture....
i know...it is so sad to hear the stories
someday lynn.. someday
Andrew was Bosnia too...when he was first in the army...
yes ...Give peace a chance....
20 years anniversary of Bosnia isn't it...seems like yesterday
blimey that long ago?
it seems like yesterday...so very sad...
it does seem like yesterday
20 years??
Andrew wasn't in the army 20 years ok...
ago....
my heart and soul go out to all the familes around the world who have lost men and women but we never hear about the ones who are fighting for their lives and will never have the life they had before
17 ...but maybe he was at the end...
well that is one thing they do much better in the US then we do here Lil
look after the vets
We just had a young Gulf War veteran die in his sleep. He had a traumatic brain injury...just in his early 30's...so sad
that's why we have help for heroes and other charities. the government should pay more though as they've sent them out! i make cards and any money i get goes to them
it is sad Jilly, young men in the prime of life..
Well Kallia, it's not as rosy of care as one might here. Some of these injured vets are really having to fight to get benefits....
I'd better go walk Stew, time has slipped away and he is starting to bounce around the room. BBL
how sad jilly
yes but it shouldn't be down to charities should it...it should be a right for them to be looked after
nite lyn, tc
But the citizens rise up to help. They had just built a home for the young man and his family..
exactly kallia
niters lilliann..thanks for your help on gird
*gird
well people in general are very generous
night Lyn
i'm not going jilly, are you?
I'd better be off too...thanks for the chat guys :)
Just watching the news. A gunman in Tulsa seems to be targeting people...
nighty nite
Whoops, sorry lillianne...was lynx
nite kallia.sleep well and tc
Looks like the gunmen is targeting african-americans
sums it up that Jilly
now I really am going, early start tomorrow
that it does...too much sadness in this world
Niters kallia..sweet dreams
oh god, not more shooting??
I know there IS good news on this earth...just seems to never be broadcast
i know...that's why i don't always watch the news as it's either bad or political!!
Well, the politics here is verging on humorous...
i normally get it off the net, that way i can pick and choose what i hear and read
hello everyone! back for the last 13...
I do both...lilliann
politics is not my thing...politicians are all the same!!!
hi viajes
i do watch my local news if i have the tv on
hi all,stil 108 to find
Hi lil have not seen you in a while. how are you?
Sometimes it's hard living in such a global world
Hi there peri!
hi peri
howdy ms. winkle
wasn't well again but getting better and i had my parents from france stop for a week last week, so that was really nice, so i haven't babbled for weeks. how are you peri and nice to see you :)
sorry you were not feeling well, lil and glad that you are getting better. good to see you too. I am fine
having trouble with this grid tho
Let me know if you need clues peri...still owe you a few...
i like your recipe but what is a cilantro?
is it a chilli pepper?
cilantra in an herb used a lot in mexican cooking
cilantro is a herb, related to parsley...
we'll all help you through peri
think it is also called chinese parsely but I am not sure
think it is also called chinese parsely but I am not sure
thanks lil and Jilly
oh ok, never heard of it...don't know if i can get it here
will ask for clues as I need them

she belongs to my parents lilliann
we saw him today, he was somewhat mad that no one went to see him at the hospital
well i reminded him that he didn't come and see me when i was in the hospital last summer!
looks very similar to mine but mine in colours but mine has a tail and her ears aren't so pointy...cure tho
*cute
lilliann, she is a manx cat that came up to my dad as a stray and her name is Calico
this grid, is not that fun.
no it's not red!
my parents call me and tell me "guess what your sister did today:
what did they say jen? sory been sidetracked!
lilliann, my parents would call me and tell me what "my sister" did (the cat)
oh, ok. she looks very much like and looks like she has the personality of mine too...as in thinks she rules the roost!!
she does rule the roost!
i will tell you something funny though
she sat on the kitchen one morning while my dad was eating breakfast and reading the morning paper
very much like mine!. mine is a rescue cat and she as all over my hubby when he is home and ignores me and when he is away she'smy cat...as in playing the game...bless her!!
she zoomed past him almost knocking his coffee cup off of the table
he screamed "Calico!"
calico ran to the bedroom where my mom was getting dressed
calico got between her legs like "help me momma!"
my mom asked her what did she do and calico meowed at her
when mom went to my dad to find out calico did, he told her and mom told him what calico did, protect me mama!
cats are the same as dogs...very intelligent
yeo
yep
when i figure out how to put a picture off my camera onto the computor and can get it on my icon i will show you a pic of my tortoiseshell cat and ypu will see how much they look alike, apart from face
kewl
i keeplooking at your pic and it does look like a manx as in tail and ears but definitely crossed with a tortioseshell as i've never seen a manx cat like that begfore
fireworks!!
am off to bed and all the lurkers can come out now!!
nite lilliann! and congrats!

Everything is trotting along.....the Masters Golf Tournament will end tomorrow and we will get back to "normal".....if that is a good thing.

Hi

thanks all
bah! typed all around it thanks
... fourteen to go ... ... all praise be to lickety and the list ...
Mr Pres ours is open and I think it is bull crap.
ok, just announced in babble community on FB that clues will now be up half hour after flip... that will happen everyday now I hope!! here is to automation! cheers!
wow! thanks mr pres!
infern, our local community stores are open... that is nice as we get to all see eachother and enjoy the company of those we cherish around here
yw m9!
I don't mean churches and get together places I mean the shops
i like that, 1/2 hour, gives people time to call the biggies
indeed leslie, I thought that would be the most appropriate time for that
infern, i mean the local shops too... our chicken/salad shop, grog shop, newsagency, deli and supermarket and bread/pie shop are all open today
(((mrp)))
((((stid)))) !
:-) happy to see you online -- I see you have automated the clues!
but more importantly, it seems that you are getting some handle on things in real life?
Ok I am not religous and it isn't listed as a public holiday but still it used to be and I think if Friday is so important then so should the resurrection.
HI stid
good to see you too! yes I have arranged it... just hope it works each time. I am away on your monday to friday so needed to get it set up
i agree with stiddy on importance.
i believe it was a little challenging when clues didn't go up for over 2 weeks!
hey LA
Hi LA
it was a bit challenging, but we are a tough lot, we babblers!
which is what makes babblers the best!!
yes, importantly, I am trying to get my life on track, my family and my happiness. I am feeling sad but the risk I have taken is so worth it
(((More hugs for mrp))) **and choclit**
Mr Pres I am at a loss as to what is happening but i can be found on Fb
well, there is an ocean full of love for you, mrp
thanks so much ((hugs))
Grant (stidkid#2) just got two budgies, and it made me think of you!
I need to get good pics of them. but so far they hide behind things in the cage or won't sit still at all.
what is a budgie
It is a bird Leslie
budgie, from budgerigar = parakeet
a small colourful parakeet
oh! i was thinking some kind of varmint.
they will settle down and be great pets!
varmint! lol
I had one that lived for ages
I hope so -- LOL right now they are pretty stupid, jumping out of one's hand and onto the floor RIGHT in FRONT of the DOG.... who is fortunately not a great hunter
lols "fortunately not a great hunter"
*rolls eyes in despair* between kids and birds and dogs and health issues (minor, but persistent and annoying) the days this "vacation" have been hectic!
I am stuck at 59, should I list or call it good enough? I don't want to be a slave to finishing...
i've been listing for about an hour, almost done
Up to you Stid
... that's when I listed about an hour ago ... still four to get
... the list is pretty helpful tonight
Hi Dos I am finding morewords to be a big help on my second tume aruond
speaking of finishing, my last is me 7/44?
hey doseffing!
it's not mettiga...
... me 7/44 ... think wood ... with a scent ... I think it has been burnt ... use only six tile
... evening stidmama ... how's the teaching gig going?
i keep trying a variant of bbq with little success
thanks doseffing! It's like the barbeque wood from the southwest, minus the last vowel, LA
ahhh it was! thanks, fireworks
... don't stop
Yah Leslie
YAY LA!
what do you need, dos?
teaching goes well, doseffing, when I have work. Nothing this last week due to spring break, and nothing pre-scheduled for the coming week (but I usually get at least two calls). the following week, I have FOUR days pre-scheduled! :-) and the jobs for next year are starting to open up. Trying to decide if I should try for them or wait another year and see if I can get some long-term sub work under my belt.
I do love being in the classrooms, though stidmama <3 teaching!
... if you can get a full time contract ... take it ... (given the location is good)
i am so proud of you stiddy!
thanks doseffing, I will start filling out the forms this coming week when people are back in their offices, then. :-)
... as someone who is stuck with supply work ... (sorry ... you call it sub work) ... there are few things more frustrating than supplying for some young whipper snapper who beat you out for a contract job because he was younger ...
... not because he was better
Well I am an OLD whipper-snapper, as this is my "second career" (after full-time parenting more than 16 years). So I have the disadvantages of BOTH age and inexperience! *sigh* It's okay, I will find something. The people I sub for really seem to like me.
Dose happened to me except I didn't get the job to a complete and utter half witt
... up here the only people who hate subs more than the students is the regular teachers and the administators
and I am not calling this person a half wit because she got the job over me she really was dense
... it's my third (or is it my fourth) career ... and at my seemingly advanced age ... everyone who has a job is demanding why I don't quit ... ... ... they refuse to allow that my kid has the right to ask for help with her tuition too ... just like their kids
it's frustrating, dose, to be in schools where they think subs aren't "real" teachers. I have one school where every time some bright child inquires as to whether I am a real teacher. When I say that I am, they want to know where my real classroom is. So I tell them that I took this year off so I would be available to my family (this is 90% of the reason I didn't apply for any jobs until halfway through this year).
Stid you could always say it is more fun to borrow someone else's class room then yuo get more of a choice of stuff to play with
... know the feeling only too well ... ... I keep going into classes and telling the kids what it is they're supposed to learn ... and keep getting this amazing look on their faces because no one has ever told them before ...
I was asked back several times by one teacher because after I was there (and half the kids refused to work) the kids told the teacher that I really knew what I was doing and they actually had done a lot of the work I assigned! LOL I just tell them I am the teacher in charge for the day and it may be different from the regular teacher, but it will be okay. Most kids are calmed by that. And with older kids I don't allow even minor infractions (automatic ticket to the office) at first -- once I have been in the room once or twice everyone knows that I mean business and it's easier.
and I do think it's true, lady -- I really enjoy seeing how other teachers set things up.
ah, just found the south african cattle pens!
down to 49. listing now.
FINISHED!! VERY EXCELLENT!!
YAY godthaab
... my work is entirely high school ... i end up spending as much time doing guidance work in class as I spend doing math ... ... but I rarely get more than one day with a group ... ... but it has reached the point where I can't go to a restaurant in the evening without having some kid saying hello to me ... ... I'll bet there aren't many subs who can say that in my board ... ... ... but I mustn't be bitter about it ... ... and I shouldn't talk about it after as much beer as I had this evening ...
(((dose))) it is a particularly wonderful person who can do what you do; I am so inspired by you
... appreciate that ... thanks ...
... okay ... with the help of lickety's list ... some excellent clues ... and going back through the archived log for the sa7's ... the fireworks have appeared ... ... amazing ... in my condition ... one is supposed to drink after babble ... not before ... ... ... Allons y! ... Go Habs ... ... even if we did finish last ... ... just remember ... the last time the Habs finisihed last they signed Maurice Richard and won the Stanley Cu[ 21 or the next 38 years ... ... consider that all you poor misguided Leaf and Bruin fans ... ... ... g'night all
YAY doseffing!!!
Night Doffs
good morning all - well done dose - and I am behind you, you didn;t finish last LOL
noswaith dda??? it's way early otherwise! *stern mama look*
HI Glant
bore da - mae'n pump o'r cloch
glantarell, I actually got out in my garden for more than an hour (total time) today!!! but I was so busy working I forgot to take any pictures!
I am disappointed my heated pillow moved. Darn cat
rofl lady
rhys cynnar, ond dwi ddim yn cysgu
Glan ... ... put five pounds on the Red Dragons for the next World Cup ... ... it's a sure thing
She was keeping my head warm. SHe was on the arm of the chair. I really need her on my feet
Hi Herin - didn't thin you needed heated pillows in Oz - nice and warm there, yes?
Not at the moment. A heated pillow is the cat
And it is heading into Autumn
Oh yes, Dose - except we Welsh get too complacent after weve won some stuff
and then we go downhill fast
supposed to be spring here but last week has been much cooler than 3 weeks before
oh, the dictionary isn't finding what you wrote, glantarell! help please?
i made a mistake with rhys
it was over 60 today for the first time this year. felt very very good. that's 60 f, about 18 C outside
rhy cynnar = too early
mae'n pump o'r cloch - it's 5 o'clock
It was 30C on friday now it is 20cish and chilly
oh! that's not horrible, but why up so early on the weekend?
dwi ddim yn cysgu - i am not sleeping
ddim = not, yes?
had 5 hours, which seems to be about it these days
ddim = not
dwi yn = I am, cysgu = sleep
yes
... Just remember ... they can keep their bloody english prince of wales ... ... and as Flanders and Swan ointed out ... ... my god forty years ago ... the only song the english have about their homeland is entitled ... "Jerusalem" ...
huzzah! I got it! had to take it apart a bit...
tell me about it Dose!
so... ydch ddim chi cysgu?
Ouio you cheeky monkey's. I am English
I work for Welsh government - helping care for and present the major Welsh castles - and we have been promised by Buckingham Palace that there will never be another investiture of an English Prince of Wales in a Welsh castle....
ydych chi ddim yn gallu cysgu?
allwch chi ddim yn cysgu?
Glantarell I would love to find out info on my great grandfather Bampi
I am less English than almost anything else -- claim Wales from an ethnically Irish ancestor who was born in one of the mining towns. *grin* but the old cottage in Chard where the English ancestor came from is still standing 500 years later!
local people still won;t set foot in Caernarfon castle 35 years after Charles was invested there
Glant no one even the English wants Charles
which mining town Herin? I have just moved into a mining town...
and Bampi is a south Wales valleys word for grandfather
someday I want to see Merthyr Tydfil... and County Down (Downpatrick) and Dingle in Ireland.
Merthyr tydfil - now there's a townm - cowboy country LOL
we use the word cowboy differently here in the Uk to in the US - can mean a person who doesn;t do a proper job (tradesman) or wild country
MT is about 15 miles form me, so you can come and stay here when you visit LOL
I think I "belong" here though -- as much of a mix as I am in ancestry, I know I don't belong anywhere else!
AC 7/8
oh, I am glad you explained the terminology, glantarell!
I would dearly love to see your new home, glantarell -- it's going to be a long time though before I can save up the money!
down to 29. back to the grid...
I'm looking for those too bleugirl
my new home is small, and slowly getting a bit more like home
me three, bleu -- no idea how those get put together yet
ac + consonant + continent
ac76 sounds like somebody who is more crazy
great clues! thanks! down to 24
Glantar not sure about Bampi but my father was born in the same town as Tome Jones
Rhydfelin - less than 10 miles form me, suburb of Pontypridd
whats the ac 6
2 x ac6
one is more painful
ac 6 are two: one is to let someone go after being accused of a crime
the other is to find innocent in court
sorry i mean ac 8
brb
My aunt is doing the family tree so I actually found out hi real name recently
NM
ac8 is pl of 7
ca 6/24
if you need me to go to a local archive to find more out I can do that for you Herin
That would be fantastic. i know that he was a coal miner and walked from Wales to London in the 1900's when there was the big strike and I know that he was in WW1 in Galipoli
you know the 1901 and I think 1911 censuses are online and can be searched?
if you have an address
Really? Would a name be sufficent?
gallipoli, wow....
but I can go to the Glamorgam archive and find more out - also there's a website called Coflein where you can search for historical information about places
depends on the name
name and ton might work
Was babies listed?
sometimes
have a look at these entries for Pontypridd - http://www.coflein.gov.uk/en/search/?s impleTerm=pontypridd&submit=Search&sub mit=Search
you will start to get a feel for the place
My Grandma had an unusual name
that would make her easier to find
Bookmarked.
http://www.coflein.gov.uk/en/search/?s impleTerm=pontypridd&submit=Search&sub mit=Search
http://www.ukcensusonline.com/census/1 911.php
Nothing came up with the census
sorry, repeated link for coflein when i meant to do census
try this link - http://www.ukcensusonline.com/index.ph p
it may be blocked for outside UK, but thta would be very silly i would have thought
given how many people were emigrating
I did find a link thank you. I would love to find his war records because i know that my grandfather I wouldn't have such luck as he was working for home office security in WWII
i think there is a way of getting war records - must ask my daughter, she is the eneaologist in our family
I thin k if you contact the relevant force they may supply that info but probably have to charge
if they don;t supply, then they will point you in the right direction
Thank you. It is a lot frustrating since up until recently we didn't know his real name
ca6/24 - like the person who works at the bank counter without the s
Glant i can be found at her underscore infernal underscore ladyship underscore at yahoo dot com
