I don't know... this one is about the hick that went to the Harvard campus. He stops a student and says "I heard y'all got a WHOLE building jest full o' books!" The student says "the library. yes" "well.. could y'all tell me where the library's at?" the student looks down his nose "at HARVARD we do not end our sentences with a preposition." Hick scratches head "well... could y'all tell me where the library's at a@@h@@@?"

Hi everyone

not tonight west
hope you had fun anyway
Hello all
oh yes, always enjoy
hi jilli
hi jilli..same question
we had fun too
but no grand slams either
must be nice to be back playing
yes indeed!
and I'm not looking forward to tomorrow -- have to take a ferry and have surgery on my face to remove a skin cancer :-(
oh gosh jilli, that just isn't fair, you've had enough
oh dear..
caught it early?
Well, it was supposed to have been done on Feb 29 but got postponed twice -- I'll be glad to get it over with.
It's a reappearance of an old one
It's only a basal cell carcinoma -- the mildest kind.
good they've been keeping an eye on it then
good morning
hi ruby
hi ruby! long time!
hello ruby
oh poor jilli, when it rains it pours! My dad, who was very fair skinned and NEVER went in the sun, was constantly having little skin cancers removed, up until his 92nd birthday and he was still handsome!
{{flosey and westford}}
I think my husband is getting better; he's back to being nasty again LOL
good he's better bad he's nasty lol
wow, look at all the to words
and his daughter is arriving on the 17th
is he enjoying the new little pup?
17th of this month??
but I'm going to the movies with my girlfriend this afternoon, so too bad for him!
lovely ruby, what are you going to see?
he smiles at Rufie, but then complains about his chewing up paper and getting into his bathroom.
We just go to a milti-plex and hope for the best. Saw Hugo and The Artist that way.
heard they were both excellent
yes, and neither of us had read any reviews
so we were totally surprised and delighted
I missed them both -- movies are here for a very short time in our tiny theatre
our little cinema had the Iron Lady on this weekend - kids were over so I missed it
I missed it too and really wanted to see all of them
we just wait..can't abide theatres..too much $$
mostly, I watch movies on TV with husband, but getting out of this circus is a great pleasure
I do want to see it
maybe it will be in our multi-plex today
and we have lunch out, too
now you're talking ruby
that's fun ruby
usually, I get his lunch ready before i go, but if he doesnt apologize when he getws back (having left in a huff at 7AM), he can make his own lunch
Our is $6 and quite charming -- no commercials, just a huge slide show of around Salt Spring before the movie
that sounds lovely jilli
yes it is lovely west
sounds lovely, jilli, I'm on my way! lol
ruby he should cool off by the time he gets back
It is -- just wish it was more accessible -- the building opens at 7pm on weekdays and there's a 2 pm matinee on Sundays, and that's all. .
sounds like the one in Maine..springs coming right out of the seats too lol
but it's walking distance..nice when I'm up there without a car
the seats are removable -- the room can be used for other things.
there's no slope to the floor.
I can't think of the oo words -- any help?
one ends with not dark
the other is tea
thanks cos
ty cos and west
and west
this is a nice grid

wtg flosey
wtg flosey !!
I'm soooo tired
was on the verge of calling my partner and cancelling out of bridge tonight
busy holiday?
glad you didn't flosey -- how did you do?
Alley and Paul were over, was great of course but tired
I don't know jilli, will have to wait and see, nothing spectacular though
ot
sorry, that was the end of a word I was adding
I guess everyone has found our buffalo?
no I hadn't jilli, thanks
thanks jilli
yw :-)
whose buffalo?
I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON -- HOUSEKEEPER HASNIT ARRIVED (SHE['S NEVER LATE), HEDGE GUYS AREN'T HERE -- ALL VERY WEIRD!
sorry, didn't mean to shout!
the one that hangs out in Babble, ruby -- the little one, an4
does that mean no lunch and movie?
*cues Twilight Zone music*
aaah, housekeeper yay
yay too!
sometimes it pays to yell lol
gotta go -- early start tomorrow. Hope I can sleep -- I'm always wound up after bridge.
hope so too jilli..maybe some nice music?
this is a good way to wind down though, wouldn't you say jilli
does enable change its mind? I swear every time I've tried to put up ceramic squares in the bathroom or kitchen again it hasn't worked..but this time it did
music keeps me awake
tv puts me to sleep every time
seems we've hit the midnight blip early tonight
yes, flosey, this is a good winder-downer but I mustn't stay too long. Just rying to get at least a word or two for each group in the list, but not quite making it -- haven't found an en, et, or im so far
e + our country is a na6
ty flosey

im a hospice for pilgrims or travellors
or travelers
thank you flosey
yw west
just glanced and thought you said I'm
drawing a blank on the hospice
sounds like what Butler might say to Scarlett
young people use them for inexpensive stopover while travelling
Turkish building
it's on the tip of my tongue...
morning babble friends.
hi sprite
hello stranger !!
how are you all! And how is this grid?
phew, housekeeper arrived!
but hedge guys????
hi ruby :)
I am fine and this grid is too

how have you been sprite?
{{sprite}}
et6/18, French for star
phew, 50 to go, and all those beastly a's found. lol. hello fellow babblers.
I always miss that one, rbud
hello rose
I thought of it myself, quite proud, lol
WOW!!!! my lucky day/night...hi sprite, ruby, rbud, flosey, westy
thanks rbud
hi rose :) *hugs*
hi rose
{{rose}}
I will find 10 more and throw in the to 5/18
my computer is doing something weird; all the icons on the left keep going off and on
thanks rose..nice to see you too
my dearest friends, today i'm on top of the world, looking down on creation....
as long as you know where your to5 is... you are ok.
good news?
I need 7 more to half way, then I'll get to bed
and the only explanation you can find?
have had 3 full nights sleep in a row....new granny here
what has bput you on top of the world?
oh how lovely, granny! Makes all the difference, doesn't it.
that is wonderful
wow rose, that's a song we haven't heard in a while
roar
sorry, is there coffee in the PB
...is the sleep she has found, for the 3 night in a round... must have put her on the top of the world...
yeah, just put some in myself, ruby, fresh and hot.
there is leftover cheese cake
sure does, spritey....was nearly beside myself . then i hops on the scales and have lost 10.5kgs ( about 23lbs ), plus the original 10kgs i lost when i gave up smoking.
wow, wtg rose
that is all good news, rose!
amazing. Rose, you are a marvel. Lovely to see you there on that top of the world.
talk about a good day
rose is a new woman !!
am I really one T short of Qu**ation?
flosey, am wearing clothes i haven't worn for nearly 8 years,.....AND.....the knee is feeling better. ( less weight-bearing down on it )
oh, I left to get a snack and look who arrived! Hi sprite!
hi jilli :) *hug*
that is all good, rose
hey, jilli
rose is a winner!
hi granny too
not quite yet, spritey, have at least another 20kgs to go, but i'm on my way * grin *
you are to me, rose!
maybe your knews will cure themselves!
knees*
now there's a wonderful thought, ruby....
ok, exactly half way, must get to bed, goodnight all
flosey -- I finally went to morewords for the im and found it -- didn't know it was a hospice (or hostel?) and thought the Turkish building was a minaret.
I submit a new word: lionator. For he who tames the animals.
night flosey, good job. Sleep well.
night, dear flosey, sleep well, hun. may you awake well rested and refreshed.
or impersonates them with a ro**
{{flosey}}
sweet dreams flosey
wd flosey -- I'm not halfway yet but have what I aimed for so I'm off to bed too. Goodnight all!
oh yes! See, it is a word. *mumbles something about stupid enable*
night jilli, sleep well!
I hope so, sprite!
and jilli, night dearest, sleep well, and may you too awake rested and refreshed.
thanks, granny
*hands jilli a rubber hammer on her way out*
good night jilli and think of tomorrow afternoon when it's all over
to bonk myslef on the head with so I can sleep?
yeah. Works every time ;)
ty west
when what will be over? What did I miss? Scary thing tomorrow?
what westford said!
just a nuisance, sprite -- plastic surgery on my chin to remove a basal cell carcinaoma
aw darling! Yeah, scary nuisance. Will think of you. It will be ok.
jilli, prayers on their way for tomorrow, i know it's only mi5 surgery, but scary nevertheless.
the worst part is getting up early
Thanks, everyone -- and now I must poof...*
{{jilli}}
funny, that Q is tough to grey out today.
usually I get the q's first, today it took lo**er, but nothing obscure
spritey, first 2 q words are odd spelling, think outside the square
missing one and out of ideas. 3 related.
oh, ok, thanks rose. Must be missing one of those then. Will find it now. :)
qu5, another way to spell a female ruler
that one I have. And the 3 related ones.
I had never seen the second one, that rhymes with a sea bird
qu5, qu + bird
basic scrabble word
thanks! That was it, rbud.
and rose. Thank you both.
yay, spritey
rubyfoo is scarily good at scrabble.
ty sprite
and scarily bad at babble
who pointed me to Chihuahua? Another addictive word game!
hey, ruby, that will be something else we can do together....i love scrabble, and even when i give him the dictionaries AND the scrabble word guide book, i still beat him
oops, sorry, sprite, heehee
yes, I even have a new set and reg dictionary and mother's old scrabble dictionary
lol rbud! Evil! But lots of fun. Can't get used to not using plurals yet. Brilliant twist to a game!
hmmmm, my absolute fantasy, sitting in france, playing scrabble with ruby, while our respective hubbies bond....well it could happen!!!!
that would be awesome, rose!
oh, rose, what a lovely thought. I would rather send my husband to Australia; maybe he'd find a young sheila!!!! lol
rofl, ruby, now that would be interesting!!
we can play too, ruby, when I come. Rose, can't you plan your visit so we will be there together?
unless we put 3 in a bed, that wouldn't work lol
oooh, a babble meet in france.....definitely in the picture now
aw come on, that would be simple... first one goes to sleep, once she sleeps, we put her up straight against the wall, next one goes to bed...
but those husbands.....
and what's wrong with 3 in a bed.....? i'm too old for any hankie pankie
is there anybody else in Europe besdies sprite and me?
lots of UK peeps for sure
but sprite is still frisky!
that's true
oh, them, ruby, put them out in the garden shed, they won't know the difference
tiro
hah! Never too old for that!
there I go again, better quit for now
easy for you to say! lol
if you quit, how will you ever learn? Practise, dear. Practise!
off I go!
bye ((ruby)) enjoy your day
that's how you get to Carnegie Hall, "practice, practice, practice!"
hmmmmpf. I'll let you know that on some days I know I will never be as old as I feel!
well, once mine starts talking, and yours starts listening, we could start world war iii and they probably wouldn't notice
{{westford}}
{{and BIG group hug}}
night ruby
bye ruby, have a good day
and say hi to your husband from me
mine doesn't know how to listen
they could both talk at the same time
oh, yeah...group hug always good
we could put two soapboxes, side-by-side!
ruby is going to lunch and a movie with her girlfriend..a well deserved day out
rofl, ruby, what a great idea, and give them a microphone each ( turned off, of course )
bye
lucky me! *poof*
aw poor guys!
(they wouldn't know the difference!)
how lovely, ruby! Enjoy!
ruby, enjoy your day out....see you at the flip ( late one for me)
hey, spritey, ruby and i are just realists, we both know what our respective hubbies are capable of....
I am looking forward to meeting mr ruby as well, and I mean that.
me, too, spritey. wouldn't it be just grand if we could be there together? * sigh *
absolutely! I'd love that.
I'm back. Husband still isn't back from his errands and it's just too cold upstairs. At least the studio (and guestroom) has heat!
oh, for goodness sake, have put in every other ....tion word, except the na****.
wb ruby
how many "tion" words are there|?
I want quotation. But that is a phantom.
I only have 4
6 so far, ruby
putting the monkeys to work
aaah, found another
hm I have 5.
ae, en, lo, na, no, ra
hm, must find ae. Thank you.
yay, ty for the ae; it gave me nbt, too
and even nbs
yay, ruby
yay my first 8, thank you.
yay spritey
speaking of husbands, can you two experienced ladies explain to me how a man that can build cupboards and beds, cannot turn off a tap so it won't drip?
Ruby is knocking on the inside door; Rufie on the outside door
this place is a circus
lol ruby
just put a pot under the drip; at least yoou won't waste the water
otro
nope, spritey, when you find out, let me will you? mine still leaves the tap dripping, then complains about the water bill.
I mean the tap over the sink, the one from the shower and the one in the toilet... those for everyday use :)
lol exactly rose!
water is so expensive here, that is my reason for putting a pot under the faucet
otro? You are trying otro and are not ashamed to show us? LOL
(blushing)
hey, good idea, ruby, then when he kicks the bucket, it will remind him to turn the b......tap off.
*giggles* Just teasing. You should see the things I try here.
how about artoo, did anybody else try it?
or ne**o?
not my husband, rose. He would want to know what idiot had left a bucket there in such a crazy place :)
yep, ne**o for sure. Artoo only after you said so, and then I tried artoon too.
rofl, spritey....what can i say?
drip, what drip?
then one who doesn't turn the tap off, ruby
I don't mind, but sometimes I wonder. Men and women are so different in many ways :)
we notice everything; they only notice if their coffee isn't hot enough
add or to the ....tion list
ooo thanks rose!
had that and without the o, too
but why isn't "roos" accepted. We certainly have enough Australians to mount a petition
and if their bed isn't warm enough, and if there are no sox and jox in the drawer, and.....
we women notice details, to be precise. Our brain is wired for nearby stuff. Men notice the bigger plan. Their mind is wired for the plains.
especially since cooee and such are accepted. Even cooeed, which I think is taking it a bit far.
hey....spritey....i cooeed just the other day.
lol rose! I bet you use that in everyday convo ;)
might have been in my sleep, but i definitely cooeed
I'd have loved to see and hear that!
should have seen himself's face....
There's a joke about that: A couple, married 60 years, is interviewed by the loca paper, asking how their marriage has lasted so long. The wife says that her husband handles all the important matters and she, the small ones. The reported asks her to explain: she handles where they live, where the children go to school, what kind of car to buy, where they take their holidays, and he decideds on how to fix the economy and where the next ward will be and how to solve the schisms in the Church
must have scared him quite a bit
i couldn't...it was dark, you see
hahahaha that is a fun one
lol, ruby, sounds about right
sorry for the typos
if we can have admiration, why not miration?
as in miring our clothes/shoes....why not spritey...let's write to enable.
oh I know a joke like that too. There has been a tragic accident with busses full of sport supporters, so a whole bunch of guys arrive at Heaven's Gate.
Petrus sees them coming and thinks he needs to get some order there. So he tells them to form lines. "All men who were sat upon by their wives during their lives line up overthere!"
All men except one moves to where he points. A bit baffled Petrus walks up to the single man still standing in the original place. "So you were the boss in the house, I see?" The man looks at Petrus and says: "I wouldn't know about all of that. My wife told me to go stand over here and so I did."
ROFL, SPRITEY
:D
* groan * still 16 to go...this is a hard slog
of course, the chog is soooo much more interesting than the grid...lol
I agree. I have 82 to go and it is not going fast at all.
lol yes... it usually is with you guys around.
Hello girls
hey, lyn
or should I say ......Coooooeeeeeee
lol, lyn, you are such a stirrer

suggestion: get them to repaint when they move out
hi Spritely. How is your son, did he get to live?
tong
oops sorry
he did. He managed to convince both my husband and me that he knew nothing about it. We told the neighbours about the smell and a day later it was gone. So I think it may have been something in their part of the shed.
wow....and I bet he won't bother trying it in the future - at least not at home! and what a relief for you
it really was. I was kind of panicked inside how to get him out of that swamp... am so glad it wasn't him.

morning
good morning, all :)
hi nan
Hi Dorens, nan
no bacon, crossy?
Hi All
morning, hego :)
: )
have ae 8 and wa 8 -- what are the other 2, please?
howdy hego and no cybernan, today is crossys famous french toast each slice will absorb 2 eggs with done right.i beat the eggs real fluffy and give them a lot of ae8/40 then i use the large slices of texas toast and soak the bread for a min a side and place in a hot pan with a dab of butter and cook them till golden brown.i like to top them with a bit of sugar/cinnamon mixture or some of our fresh light canada grade a syrup, but instead of bacon today i am going to add some nice maple hickory smoked breakfast saussages
Yum : 9
sounds wonderful, crossy
sounds wonderful - and calorie laden
way to go crossy!!
way to go crossy!!
sorry cybernan, not carlorie micro management in this house:)

ma 8
ty cnan
ro 5/16= a early euro version of croquet
what word is that viajes?
anyone have a clue for the gi 6-7?
a misspelling of "clue"
what word viajes?
clew?
well, an old-fashioned spelling I guess
PB crossy!
acck
it's not a misspelling. i mean, they didn't always have standardized spelling. but also, cl4 as appearing in the grid is a type of sail or something, i learned about it in my time working for a yacht management company.
I guess it has a different definition; the Babble dictionary doesn't even mention the old-fashioned synonym for hint
oh well , cant put it off any longer .. have to get ready for work ... hagd all
viajes baited crossy!! no fair
muahahaha
what's in the PB today? anything good? last week there was pie.
hearing sounds from above -- better go and start breakfast
cnan, is the ma8 weird or normal?
dry toast for you..no crossy brakfast for viajes...humph!
breffast
haha, that should be a category hurshy! it should be in the clues. ma8-N versus ma8-W
oooh yeah, i ask that question a lot but never thought of making it part of the clues.
old word for american margerine in da grid..always forget that one
I am sad that maneater is not in the grid. So close!
that word and ethyl for gasoline always seem to put my mind in the same time frame
crossy, are you trying to trick me in revenge? Because I don't know that word, so it can't work.
would crossy do that?
or manatee, that would be nice.
rats, cnan left before seeing my question i guess.
i can work on her gi6-7 question while she is away
do you want a clue for gi 6/7 ?
or are you giving the clue?
i'll take a clue, annie
as pikula always say *** er done and another word for so4----***n
and then plural it....convoluted clue, I know

ty, annie and hurshy
okay, going to take a break...see you later

it would of been annie since crossy,s beloved does not buy 500 dollar jeans
i don't think they WERE 500 dollar jeans. i thought they were a brand that walmart carried.
but, maybe i only remember seeing the commercials and not the jeans themselves.
see? what do i know about jeans?
an inexpensive jean, i had a couple pairs. comfy
any jeans i buy for myself,i buy knowing that they will be a shredded disaster in 2 months
They were sold by Kmart
kmart, walmart, i mix them up in my mind.
I had some in the 80's as a teenager.
ahh,k marts are long gone round here went with towers and the old box stores
woolworths etc
all eaten up
what are these jeans we're talking about? I'm confused

am enjoying this grid, dawger.. seems like a good balance between easy and challenging, lots of surprise words popping up and not too many weirdos
first 70% weren't too bad. but getting to 80% was a bit more of a challenge. the last 10 had me going in circles--word blind.

didn't sarah palin name one of her kids that?
yep
what, bichon??
nah - she's not that hip
or the ol word?
Sarah Palin namTrip and tr 4/6, or was it Bristoled her kids
apparently it's a scandinavian name
Sarah Palin amed her kid after margarine?
Sarah has Track and tr4, I think Bristol used trip
just checked ... Bristol, Tr4, Willow, Trap, Piper
... I'm surprised she didn't look out her window and use something Russian ...
I like the name bristol
Tr 4 and Trap
*snort* dose. that was good!
speaking of scandinavian - norwegion is in the grid. too bad it's proper _and_ misspelled
I have ae8x2 and wa8,what am I missing?
i'm confused with what she name her child now... trip and trap?
ma 8
ty will look
... I'm sorry ... Google says ... TRACK ... not trip or trap
i've just got all the tr4's and if they are any of them and with trip ...mmm...sounds weird...is it one name?
Bristol Palins baby is Tripp and his Daddy is going to be a father again

yw lil
100 left. I'm off to list
My 4 y.o. granddaughter has a mouth which could rival anyone.
my daughter was lovely when she was younger but she's made up for it since she was 11!!
but i bet she doesn't awear tho bichon
*swear
... put on your cloak of invisibility and hang around the school yard ...
not yet, but some of the things that come out of her mouth.
... then you'll see how she presents herself to the teenaged world ... I'll bet it's not how she presents to you and other adults
She's going into kindergarten this year, at a Catholic school. I sure hope none of the other kids swear.
... kindergarten ... you're probably okay ... ... grade three ... I doubt it ...
I can't wait.
... Been there twice ... ... yes ... you can wait ...
apparently dose, she is polite, giving, friendly and would do anything without be asked and also ask if there is anything she could do with other people...friends her age i don't know, as she was picked on at school for alot of years because of her hair colour and her dad i i told her to stick up for herself and do what they do back to them
kindergarten...what age is that?
4/5 year olds?
... I commend your effort ... sounds like a great kid ...
My oldest niece has just turned 5, and she's wonderful.....she can even beat me at Wii bowling
aye, she does to other people....just not me!!! lol but we are too much alike and that is the problem....guns at dawn!
... my great disappointment is when a nice kid like that gets to school (and I don't know how to avoid getting to school) ... they often have no idea of how to cope with kids who haven't been raised as "nice" kids
aww, good for her mm
... they either get bullied terribly ... or they quickly learn to response in kind only stronger ... ... neither alternative is pleasant
I have a daughter, granddaughter's Mom, who had a really sharp tongue. Now she apologized profusely to me.
.... Never take on a kid at a computer game of any type ... unless you have a very strong self image that doesn't mind being beaten badly by someone on 10% of your age
Or the game of Concentration. My kids always beat me at that when they were young
i know what you mean dose, she got picked on for a lot of years and sometimes hid under the table or back garden as she was frightened of going to school, so i went in and i went in and raised hell,(it also helped i was a school gevernor) but that is no excuse for children today getting picked on in a small school!
... knew a kid who was the nicest kid in the universe ... until her 13'th birthday ... when she became the brat from hell
Thanks for the warning, dos
... fortunately she turned 26 ... and relearned how to be one of the nicest people in the universe
my mam and i never got on for years bichonm until i turned 25 and now we are the best of friends and tell eachother everything
same here with us.
el 6? clues?
then last september she got bullied again when she atarted comprehensive school, all because of her hair colour. she wanted me to dye, it but i refused as she has such a lovely hair colour!ever since she was born loads of ladies have come up to me and said if only they did a hair dye that colour!
what color lilian, red?
she has 3 different colours...alburn, strawberry blonde and blonde...but kids call her ginger
... el6 ... the pleasant surface dwelling people from HG Well's "Time Machine" ... plus the first two letters from the nasty little bugs that nip and bite
tyvm dose
I'd die to have hair that color
I'm mousy brown.
thanks dose
i'm alburn but as i've got older i've got darker and greyer!!
I used to get teased over my hair colour (blonde) at school
Okay, I'm mousy brown and grey.
my brother was red, my mam and nan alburn and my m.i.l was also alburn
If kids will tease because of hair color, they will tease about anything
I'm close to that lil, less auburn, most strawberry and some blonde, depending on sun time...
really mm? that's sad, as so many people dye there hair blonde
morgan is like that too, in the winter she goes darker shades and summer lighter as the sun bleaches her hair, the same as me
I was teased about it until about 15, then the boys noticed that it was kinda nice to know someone who didn't look like everyone else, LOL!
Of course, by then I had a nice protective shell/aura developed...
does she have freckles in the summer
so you have a lovely hair colout amelu...lol, my daughter has a boyfriend now who loves her hair colour
yes, just like me, but i have loads more than she does, but as she's getting older she is getting more.we still have them in the winter but they are alot lighter
I need a break. BBL
my body is covered with freckles, and she is getting more over her body so in the summer we looked more tanned...it's great!!
bfn bich
I was lucky in that respect too... I've always had light "cute" freckles but when I hit 30, they decided they needed to join together so I'd look like I have a tan, LOL!
mine have always joined in since i was about 11, as i always had loads and my art teacher called me freckles every lesson
aww, my daughter just asked me if she was ugly, because she has a couple of spots on her face!!
but atleast you don't need as much sun amelu..lol
True, but it's pretty difficult to avoid March through October, here... ~:o)
i wish i had your weather :)
snowing here today..wet snow..ugh
I love it! I'd much rather be too warm than cold...
I do not miss the snow. Nope. Not even a little smidgen.
i would rather bee too cold, when youi are cold, you can add layers, when you are too hot, well once yer neeked, that is it
... it was trying snow down here about 15 minutes ago ... but it looks like it had to give up ... at least it had better given up ... I must go out later ..
I have gotten very good at not moving... LOL!
Spent many an hour on the porch with a fan blowing my way...
I'm with you Amelu, I can't stand the cold.
once it gets over,i would say 80f,i am cooked, drag me and my entire body heat rash into some water or shade
Climatization... or is it acclimatization... either way, when I first moved here (from MI), I did not own (much less wear) a coat for 6 years.
It would be extremely difficult for me to readjust to the cold.
"Coats not necessary"...that's my kind of weather.
i hate the cold...when i moved up north in england, i use to have to wear jumpers, have the heating on and the gas fire and have a blanket over me!! i prefer to be neked!! but only under my duvet where no-one can see me!! lol
Of course, you'll catch me whining about record highs come July and August! Someone mark the date so you can remind me to come back to this chat and read my own words, LOL!
i am sure you are correct amelu,my in-laws were snow birds for many year and one winter they had to come home for something medical(forget doing that in the states as it would of cost 30 grand) but anyways they has the house here at 90f and the furnace was roaring..i had to sit there in swim trunks..in january
... I never complain in the summer no matter how hot ... ... that way I can whine and complain all winter and no one can tell me to stop
I know what you mean crossy. My mom lives here and if it's below 65 degrees outside, she's freezing and wants the heat on... even wears a sweater in mid summer... meanwhile, I'm about to pass out...
lol
i love it when we go on holiday to egypt or especially jamaica at christmas and we can say how hot it is to friends and family on the phone when we text or ring..the only problem is, we have to go back to the cold two weeks later!!
Thank goodness it's not just my parents. Forget having a membership to the gym-- just go to my parents for a sauna.
and it is now time for crossy,s quote of the day!
Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd. - Voltaire
ae 5/10 what i think is an eagle nest
ae8/7/8 all to do woth putting air into things
good evening all
evenig glant..sorry, had my nose burried in the grid
Hi Liliann
how are you?
I got half way before work and have decoded to see if I can do the other 125 befoe bed... pushing it a bit I think lOL
I am fine, finally got my act together a bit anmd put up some wall lights, planted up some garden planters and painted a wall over the weekend
trying to overcome the apathy!
it's a nice grid..i started this evening and have 55 left
good going
you can do it hin.oh good for you glant.see you're not a d.i.y freak, sorry, couldn't think of the word i wanted
my brain doesn't tell me the worda i want when i need them....
LOL
just on the tip of your tongue...
Hi Glant
well, it sort of is, my memory has got worse since my balance got destroyed...i don't know why and i hate it as it is give us a clue with me now, which is why i don't always clue here as i can't remember the wordes i want to use!! but hey ho
Hi Bichon
but i'm glad you are now getting into the diy again...see you can do it and don't need anyone else!
wb bichon
I'm back from vegging out. Needed to rest my brain
I'm slowly getting my DIY confidence back
anything nice bichon?
at least I didn;t electrocute myslef, do irretrievable damage to the walls or lights, or blow a fuse!
lol glant...well, that is a start!!lol
lillian the damned chemo juice did the exact same to me.was in the kitchen other day trying to ask the mrs for the collander to drain the pasta.think i could remember the name of the damned thing?.."the drain thing, thing with the holes" sputter on like that till the wife either deciphers what i need or the word comes..been that way on and off for 5 years now
and they do work LOL and are on the wall straight
no, just lay down in bed with the fluffs and watched something immemorable on TV
know that feeling crossy
but it's also proved that you can do it, so don't be so down on yourself...a little at a time...
it's the damage to the neural pathways in the brain
I know I can do it Liliann, just a bbit resentful that I have to Liliann :-)
It's a small price to pay for health and being cancer free
It certainly is Bichon, but I do miss the ability to concentrate and the occasional loss of ability to speak fluently!
I can understand how that must trouble you, but you get to see your grandchild. My mother had a radical [and I mean radical] mastectomy in 1959. She has terrible lymphodema, but she's lived to see three great-grandchildren
it is indeed bichon
i stutter over words and objects, but it is sporatic and has not affected my reading one iota
I'm grateful that I don't have the lymphodaema, and very grateful to see my grandchildren. At this rate I'm hoping to see the great grandchildren too, as long as thye don;t come too soon LOL
and am glad you are healthy now glant
i haven't had cancer or the treatment you've had crossy, and i know you've got through it a few times as you are a figher and a good caring man and i hope you're memory improves
hasn't affected my reading at all either crossy - it must be to do woith the speech centre
must indeed,small mercies
The radical mastectomy they did back then removed the lymph nodes.
I'm glad we're both healthy cossy ;-)
They had no chemo, only radiation
My mastectomy was radical too Bochon - they took 22 lymph nodes out
indeed glant,we have shiny fresh new lives
and i had chemo and radiation
i had operations and chemo...no radiation
Did they leave some nodes in?
I've never bothered with the reconstruction - call me Amazon woman LOL
my-m-i-l also did not reconstruct
They can do so much more now for lymphadema. My mother didn't have any treatment and it is way too late.
No nodes left in as far as they know - there were cancer cells in 7 of the 22 - that was when they told me it was 'out there' - had left the breast
I don't think I would either
i'm glad you have got through it too glant, my cousin/sister to me had the same cancer has you at a young age and has come through
sorry to hear abnout your mam bichon
how long ago was this glant? got your 5 years in yet?
some breast cancers are much more aggressive than others - i was 'lucky' as the hormone fed ones respond better to treatments
My Mom is 88, has lung cancer and while she has dementia to some degree, her ticker is still ticking
yes crossy, finished treatments in Feb 2006 - so 6 years now
my cousin had a reconstruction of her breat but no nipple and had to have ovaries removed so she couldn't get it back
yaaa for glant!!
woot for Glant
yeaaa for me! and you! and Bichon's mum
the survivors club
and Liliann's cousin/sister
lilian, did she have testing for the BRCA mutation. Several people on my Dad's side have the mutation and had their ovaries removed
i don't know if we have that here bichon.all i know is she is clear now about 7/8 years but majority of our family have all died of cancer/all different types. her mam had.....i'll have to think...can't remember, she has to take penicillin every day for the rest of her life(her mam that is)
my best friend's nan and mam had breast cancer but her g.p wouldn't send her for testing
but i don't know if that is BRCA? what does that mean?
t's done in the US [ne lab in the entire country does it] for women [and men] who have strong family histories of breast and or ovarian cancer. Although non Ashkenazi [European] Jews can have the mutation, it is more common among European Jews
BRCA is a gene
My mother had breast cancer twice[the first when she was 35] but neither she nor I have the mutation. But, lots of people on my paternal side have it
if you test positive for it in the UK you can have an elective double mastectomy to prevent future breast cancer
oh really bichon, that is interesting
if you have BRCA your chances of getting breast cancer are pehaps as high as 50%
so i take it you are you are jewish ?
i hjave nothing againt jewish people by the way :)
*have
Yes, Ashkenazic
I have had breast cancer twice, the second time I chose to have a double mastectomy. I told my Dr I did not want to try for the third time
so, what does the ashkenazic mean, were they jewish people that came to europe after the war...sorry, if i'm being rude, but i'd like to know why they are called that
sorry to hear that bekki - I have asked them to remove my other breast but here in the Uk they don;t do prophylactic surgery
my friend wasn't allowed to test for it glant
to test for BRCA?
sorry to hear about that bekki
they will only test you for it if at least one close female relative has had BRCA variation breast cancer
yes
because they know it runs in families
her nan and mam had breast cancer and one breast removed
but if it wasn't BRCA variety then it's almost impossible for your frind tp have thta type
her nan finally died of breast cancer
so if breast cancer runs in the family through 2 very close female family member thay can't get tested?
Glantarell I'm sorry to hear you had cancer, I feel Drs need to listen to what we say. I am very happy with the choice I made
there are several kind of breast cancer - perhaps 7 or 8 - but BRCA is one they know is very aggressive and runs in families so they wioll test for it if it is known you have a relative with that fom
Your fiends family could have been very unli=ucky and had several different jkinds
the problem is, her gp never had her tested for it
my friedn had breast cancer twice in 3 years - two completely different types with different treatments
my grand daughter
omg, sorry to hear that glant
sorry my grand daughter tells me don't worry they will grow :-)
she was one of the ones they founght for the special drg a few years ago - was it heparin?
ROFL bekki - mine have never known me differently - they know it was 'cut off because it had gone bad'
i'm just thick...i didn't think there was that many different cancers that you could get in a breat...i just thought...a lump...breast cancer!! so i apologise to all
lol bekki
they've all had a good look and feel of the prosthetic breast and one of the little beggars bit it and punctured it LOL
not thick Liliann - I assumed breast cancer was BC was BC until i got it
omg...lol glant
Mine ws strongly oestrogen and progesterone positive - which means it was feeding on thse hormones in my body so part of the treatment for me is to kill the hprmones so there is no food for the cancer
but if the BC is not hormonally fed then doing that would nmake no difference, and the cancer is much harder to teat
I had a bit of sticky tape oer the hole for about a year before I plucked up the courage to ask for a new one LOL
when my cousin got it at 32 i thought it was just breast cancer, but no-one should ever just say just!! but she does have a healthy 12 year old before she got it but sadly lost a baby before she knew she had it, but that was probably her body telling her she had too much to cope with
32 is so dreadfully young - I thought I was pretty hard done by getting it at 49
you had the same as my cousin. she had to have her ovaries removed
they suggested they might have to 'ablate' my oivaries after my secnd chemo because I continued to menstuate, which wasn't suppsed to happen but it stopped after the third chemo so they left my ovaries alone
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
Evening Minver
my cousin had injections into her ovaries every month at first...the same as me, but mine was for a different reason....and then when i was 35 i had to have a total hysterectomy but ny cousin still had the injections and then finally had to have the ovaries removed
hi minver. nice to see you
Nice to see you&Glantarell here.Don't get to see you often
I haven't been here much of late - had daughter and granddaughter for a visit all last week and was away on and off for a couple of weeks prior to that
life has gone all quiet agan now so I can babble
i haven't been here for a few weeks plus i had my parents from france for a week last week
it's sad when they go tho eh glant. i miss my parents as i don't get to see them very much. the last time was a year and a half a go...and they're getting older now
sad when daughter and granddaughter went
have to get act together to visit my mum

I am off from work all week, therefore, I got more time to babble. I was on earlier this morning and I found 145 words. I came back to get a few before I do my story of clues. This grid is much better than yesterday's hard grid
so can't really go for a day trip
yes yesterday's was hard but fewer words so i finished - chatting too much tonight LOL so need to get back to it as i have 95 left to find

Hi there mrs crosshair! Must be nice to have a partner who also likes to babble. Hubby would NEVER sit with me while I babble. I also don't sit with him when he plays his games.
Hi Bich

gn and good rest glant
Congratulations Glantarell on your fireworks! Good for you
G'night, Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite
Congratulations gramma on finishing grid early!Way to go!
yaa for gramma!
hi gramma.wtg!!
sleep tight - that phrase comes from medieval times when the mattresswas supported my crossed ropes tied to the bedframe - if the ropes were slack the bed was uncomfortabel, so a sevant had to tighten the ropes each night to ensure the bed was 'tight' and therefore comfortable
con grats on finishing gramma
I had to be at the hospital this morning @ 7am. It's an hour 15 drive. I got up early and didn't get out until after lunch. It sucked up a lot of my energy and my day.
poof
nos da pawb glant
lol, glant i have a antique hospital bed made at the turn of the century and the materess is supported buy the narrow strips of metal and small springs on the end of each strip,so your rope bed does indeed make sense
If nobody needs a clue then I'll be gone. Maybe even fix some supper.
Goodbye gramma! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log.
Have fun. See you all tomorrow.

why would they not molly?? i'm not overly popular ans my icon probably doesnt help but i'm not going to change it as that is who i am and maybe i waffle on too much...i spend alot of time on my own so when i chat, you can't stop me..saying that i've always been called a chatterbox...

my hubby is a taurus
hi again all! today turned out to be much more exciting than I was expecting, and not exactly in a good way (not horrible either, and it is over, but I am tired and happy to be home)
what were you doing suze?
hi everyone
Lillian, your icon is cute. I don't think it's offensive at all. And you may chat a lot, but you don't go on and on about yourself.
notice how as a taurus,we are always right and NOT stubborn?
hi sue, glad it was good/or not but turned out alright

I'll keep positive thoughts that Ziggy comes back, Peri.
thank you Molly, he has stayed out long before but always shows up at the front or back door
Cats seldom come when called, peri (at least mine don't)! Hoping that Ziggy is fine.
he does not always come when called but does when he has been out for a while and it is getting dark. he does not go out in the dark
