jil... saw that the flotsam from the japanese eartquake is at the alaskan shore.... has it hit you
shalom Jill. Hi everyone
smom, I think a motorbike showed up a while ago -- and was returned to its owner!
wow...... what a devastating thing.. and the effects will be felt for years
yay, thanks for the 9 and 10, got 'em
physical ones i mean... not talking about the emotional ones for those poor souls
the good thing is sammy.. that sarah palin needs target practice
bad ru
:)
isn't flotsam one of her kids names?
BTW, I don't seem to be able to delete what I wrote about my icon, or add anything to it!
Off to bed, I will try to log on in the morning to get the last 61. But so far, this grid is much gentler than the last couple.
well done jan, sweet sleep
what you wrote is a classic jilli.. maybe Dr g doesn't want it to change
ah my sweet daughter... she just called me before going to bed... she is exhausted... she worked at her church's food bank all day and she has a broken ankle .. in a cast and still did her thing
that's going to be some swelling now
smom, your daughter has my total admiration!
yep.. she said she laid on the floor with it elevated for 3 hours before she could function again
she's one determined kid
mine too. she is 55 and had her grand daughter ( 5 months old ) to care for as her daughter was at work
yes ma, i can bag food with the kid strapped to my chest
wow
and all this time I thought you were 35 sammy
and hobbling, WOW, quite a gal s'mom
good grief, what a gal!
yay me. am doing this on the laptop, not a big deal to those of you who are used to it, but to someone who wished to die computer illiterate, it is a BIG deal.
we will pampeer her tomorrow... they will all be here for a cookout and celebration for number three daughter she graduated last week from college
wtg rose!
yay Granny.
have done it once or twice too rose, I find the laptop quite a challenge
congrats for #3 daughter, s'mom
my kid wanted to give her laptop.... (probably an excuse for her to buy a new one) but i said noooooooooo thnaks
ty flosey
she has worked long and hard and we are so very pround of her
Hi people.
hi neil
so long as i can show himself i can do it....besides i need the laptop in hospital. i will go outta my mind with boredom otherwise.
hi Neil
Hi flosey.
hello neil
Hi jilli.
for sure Rose, in such situation, glad to have laptop
sorry guys and gals, our connection is slow due to himself being on line everyday for nearly 16 hours.
now if they want to give me a great gift...... a kindle would be niced
nuce
nice
nice?
my sister's visiting, she lost her wireless mouse for her laptop - found it in my freezer in her bag of groceries after she left, lol - think it'll be okay?
no , i'm not tired and bleary -eyed............ not atall
hey neil, jilli, flosey, smom, arb
as long as it didn t get wet rose, probably
how does a wireless mouse get into a bag of groceries anyway? I couldundeerstand a real live mouse doing so, but...?
i do not question it.... have fould many strang and wonderful things in the oddest places
well, we were unloading a bunch of stuff from the truck after a major trip to the laundromat, and then straight to Goodwill with most of it... she was throwing it all in together, I guess
lucky it didn't go to Goodwill with the rest!
I'm too nice, I washed all the stuff before I took it, cost a small fortune - glad I don't have to go to the laundry very often. it was mostly stuff left by people who stored stuff in our back shed.
Hey grannyrose. See the email I sent you?
i wondered about a stick that i found under my pillow a few weeks ago.... until yesterday when sam ( 4 year old great grandson) asked me.... hey g'nan did you like the present i put under your pillow?? i allowed as how i did indeed like it and it in on my bookshelf in a placed of honor
not yet, neil. will look later,ok? or would you like to me look now? ...
I'm wondering if I'll find my ATM card in a wonderful or odd place... if I find it at all. Been searching all day. :( A friend of mine who is usually pretty psychic for some reason tole me where it is though: "in the last place you'll look". :P Great. So helpful!
"told", even
that's really funny neil
Up to you, grannyrose.
But I think you'll really like it.
Hey ru!
Yep. She's a card... too bad she can't tell me where mine is though.
lo
what you should do is get your visa card in your hand and spin and spin and throw it.. and it will land on the Atm
hi mari
Then I'll lose that too. :P Knowing my luck.
or should I say ....
HI
hi all - Jilli compleated the jigsaw of the stag in your drive what a super picture
why do I keep seeing lasagne in the grid
I have several jigsaw puzzles on that site too, mari.
oh jilli?
under the same name neil?
http://tinyurl.com/6pjwfkh
Yes.
It's the only online ID/moniker I use, for everything I do on the web.
wonders if there's a positive Peter out there
Thanks, mari -- it was a surprise to see the guy there, just relaxing!
sorry -- I was changing some light bulbs
Watt?
hello dear friends - can't sleep again, so might as well babble!
maybe we can bore you to sleep, trif?
I very much doubt it! ruru just had me giggling like a doof
Good morning, Trifioso.
morning ga!
Sleep is overrated ..
did torgone make this grid? ti4s everywhere you look...
oh, SNAP son!
Yowza!
lol
Hi torg!
phantom: tarantula
good one!
Positive Peter, ru? No. But there is an Affirmative ____, you know. Seriously. When I came up with this moniker a few years ago, he promptly thought of that one and he uses it for a few of his accounts.
gosh, the oldest car in the known world seems to be having negotiating the hill in town center, and I can hear it from here on this clear night....poor old thing!
Just because we're polar opposites.
andy? arthur? allen?
you would have liked tonight's dinner jilli
Anything you like. :P
what was it, ru (drooling in advance)
the grid just got harder
I made seared scallops with a saffron cream sauce.. forbidden rice and steamed snap peas
mrs ru ate too much again
oh yum! -- but what's forbidden rice?
it's a small grained black asian rice.. nice texture
must look for some!
easy to cook with some peppercorns
that sounds delicious, ruru! and thanks for asking, jili, I didn't know what that was either
mmmm
the sauce took a while
sounds wonderful ru
I made Jambalaya out of a box, but with chorizo sausage, chicken pices, and prawns.
that sounds good too
*pieces
I love cajun food
what went into the sauce you made besides saffron? Recipe, please!
white wine, butter, half and half..teaspoon of lemon, saffron, salt, fish stock, and a touch of white pepper
oh wow! Calori free, I see.
Oh man. You're making me hungry.
hello everyone... after that ruru I am about to lick my lap top to get a taste....
do you make your own fish stock, ruru?
LOL.. yes lo cal...lol
Calorie too
Molly, are you here?
hi grandy
just a little sauce on each plate jilli.. not a lot
Uhhh, that's only if it's online jilli... in r/l there's probably a million calories in that. :P
calories... did you not know that once you stir... all the calories... go up in steam....
How come only Mrs. Ru eats too much, ruru? You never do I guess huh? lol
Haha, grandy.
would that that were true, grandy!
Yep. If only.
So good to know, grandy -- and broken cookies don't count, either.
it is where the calories come from not the amount..
(well over halfway, btw)
I thought calories are calories.
I firmly (or perhaps "firmly" is not the right word to use,..) that food you eat at church has no calories
yeah jilli
I mean 1,000 calories is still 1,000 calories, whatever the source.
is food at the church pastorized trif?
Oh man. That's bad, jilli. So bad.
that is technically true, Neil, but there are calories that do more than others. Some foods burn more calories to consume than others.....
Sorry, ruru!
oh gawd
LOL ruru!
Ugh. Why did I think I saw jilli saying that?
That's such a ruruism if ever there was one.
I keep seeing words that are not there... silly grid...ruru that is funny...
Or is that ruism?
too tru, neil!
and 1000 calories of a lean turkey sandwich on multi grain bread with tomatoes and dark lettuce will get you MUCH farther in life than 1000 calories of say, pork rinds
Haha. :P
Well yeah Trif... probably.
I think I read somewhere that pork rinds are the worst possible thing you can consume
feh. anything in moderation, right?
but gooood!
Especially since I don't eat pork. ✡
well, I mean...not arsenic....
really it is about healthy choices... and eat NOthing you can not pronounce in the ingredient list... and balance your blood sugar... I find it really helps.
Gee. That's too small to be seen!
Yep grandy. Those preservatives will not presrve you forever.
preserve, even.
I should give up on typing for tonight.
It made the point, neil
or pont
That could've been pint. I like that better.
Especially if we're talking beer.
ugh
that is more true than perhaps you realize, neil....my neighbor is an undertaker, and we were chatting one day, and he was just back from a conference where they were presented with findings that show that we are now taking a MARKEDLY longer period to decompose after death, due to the fact that most of us, when we die, are so full of preservatives that we are ourselves preserved. ugh.
Whoa. Seriously?
yeah.. ever seen Joan Rivers up close
yes, seriously. its the dirty little secret of his field at the moment
Gotta wonder what that shit's doing to your body.
Haha, ru!
I can't say that's someone well preserved though.
maybe it's just people who are decoffinated
It really is all that oil of olay...
rim shot for rurur
*whacks ruru*
Haha! Who owes who a beer?
or maybe sunscreen.... LOL I could use some anti wrinkle cream by the barrel.
:D
Oh nm... rim shot, yeah. Not a shot to the head... which he probably deserves a little more. ;)
With a pillow of course.
grandy, did you ever see the full monty? the film, I mean
a very long time ago
I always remember that line..."anti wrinkle cream there may be, but anti fat bastard cream there is not"
trifoso.... that is very very funny...
I liked that movie
neil, mate, trying to open your email...taking forever( that special link you sent me)....himself has been on-line for up to 16 hours per day, now we are on slow download.
well enough frivolity... I need to go to bed and sleep now.... enjoy the night or day... where ever you maybe.
me too.. good nite all
night grandy, I am going to try to get some sleep meself. night all!
night, grandy, sleep well, hun

Oh. Still here, grannyrose?
There are 2 links Rose... might want to watch the 1st one again, before the 2nd.
okay neil
second link nearly fully downloaded
Huh. Ok Rose.
You watched the first again?
He talks about what's in the second one there.
Well you read the email anyway.
of course i did. ding-a-ling, as always
Ding-a-ling?
neil, none of my address book has been put onto this laptop yet. it's oly through using it like this that i can get the kinks ironed out.
Well, Bedtime for moi. Goodnight or day all...*poof
ding-a-ling, aussie way of saying you're being silly. ( must look up origins of terms before talking/using them with neil)
night, jilli. sleep well, hun
Oh, ok.
Well send me an Aussie glossary. ;)
And goodnight and sweet dreams jilli. Although I'm sure you're gone by now.
*giggle* will do.
*groan* first link is only 33% downloaded. oh, well, it will happen, but not straight away.
my goodness, can you imagine me unable to email anyone for over 6 days.....i'll be speechless!!!!!!

Good to hear, Dan. How is Little Miss 2 Bit?
I know. Last week I took Bobby to see The Avengers so this week it is my turn. He loves Judi Dench so he should like the picture. He watches As Times Goes By and enjoys it very much so he knows Judi Dench by repuation.
Hi Dan :)
she is doing great, though last night bedtime was a (rare) struggle
hi Annie!
Silly Little2bit!
Annie, someone here (Trif I think) raved about that movie.
she's definitely in the toddler mode of not wanting to miss anything that anyone might be doing! :-)
oh good, Molly
Yep, toddlers are very busy exploring their world.
Got that sa8: start w/ planet minus n, add bug
Ah, I remember that stage. "What are you eating?" "Toast" "Why?" "Because I'm hungry." "Why?" And so on and so forth.
she's not so much with the why as with the play with me and the bossing around. She's definitely the eldest child of two eldests :-)
Toddlers do believe they are supreme rulers of their world.
Hail Queen 2Bit!

Hi welki. How has the fishing been?
non-existent so far - weather hasn't been cooperating, silly 'must-do' projects have stood in the way - BUT next weekend, the rod's in the water or my name isn't welki!
gm, welki, scrabs, dan2, gr5, and all lurkers and anyone i missed.
Yay for you. Our weather has been so summery that I have been staying in the yard doing gardening rather than clean inside. The inside NEEDS cleaning.
Hi dawg.
thanks grant and all cluers - firewords!
whoooo hoooooo DAN!!
might have made it out in the boat last weekend except that a cat decided to have kittens in one of the compartments - a litter of 4, 3 were alive - so there had to be some SERIOUS cleaning and disinfecting, if you get my drift
Congrats Dan. Enoy your day.
*enjoy
So how are the kittens and Mama?

YIKES!! *sprinting to PB*
reunited, i hope - something bolted from the boat when we moved it, didn't know it was a cat at the time. found the litter when we uncovered the boat so brought them back to her. didn't touch them, used rubber gloves to move them
Free clues. Come and get 'em.

You could get it.

If you do, same name on there... as here, as MSN.
Yeah. You have to enter your Hotmail address and password to log in.

can i have a clue forat5/10 please
Oh sorry H, was answering email.
Well for antivirus/firewall/anti malware, I'm using "Norton Internet Security 2012". It's very good and hasn't conflicted with anything yet.
I swear by Kaspersky...
That's good too, Erda. And hi.
Oh damn, I think I forgot to forward that other email to you last night after all, in my tireness. Ugh.
I'll do that now.
Hi Neil. I'll write to you a little later...
Ok it's sent, Erda.
might try that then
I'm sorry about that. I was having fits yesterday because I lost my ATM card and needed it... so even up until I went to sleep last night, I was still searching for it. And like my kind of smartassed "psychic" friend told me, sure enough, I found it in the last place I looked. :P
So I got sidetracked looking for that and guess I forgot to send that forward... but done now.
i usually use avg but it wont let me download it!
What won't let you download AVG, H?
Hi Neil, glad to hear you found it
good morning my babble friends:)
just back in for a few more
hi crossy
HI flosey and thanks! So am I... you don't know how glad of that I am. Now I don't have to get my old one cancelled and get a new one.
Hey crossy. :)
howdy neil,flosey:)
Hey crossy... can you get on MSN? medusa is having a problem with it and I'm wondering if you might know of any possible solution, other than what I've suggested. Googling might find one too.
niel, soon debit cards will be a thing of the past.just before i closed my last station,i was given a sneak peek of a prototype cred/debit/fleet card reader that uses your fingerprint only.you fill out some information with your bank, give both thumb prints, then do the same wish fuel station/s that are in the program.now you are ready.next time you need gas, you place your thumb on the sensor, fill up and drive away when done
medusa, you could try this forum for help: http://tinyurl.com/7hv6qvx
firing up msn
Wow, crossy.
Hopefully one will not lose one's fingers...LOL Good morning all!
wow crossy, I'm impressed with that new system - sounds like the safest yet
that is why 2 prints,in case you lose a hand i suppose:)
it waorks amazing!!.secure,no pin numbers to remember nothing
of course they are working on the secuity of the fingerprint data base that will need to be created and stored
Next it will be an eye scan.
Hi JillyJill.
Or Jillyjill even.
i have seen military ahnd/retina scan machines..

Hi neil..Jilly works...family nickname...capitols aren't required these days...
Well it doesn't feel right to type someone's name without one.

Amazing.

I guess 38 is as far as I get.
Huh ru?

You only have 38 words? Don't believe it.
why ruru?
no.. I have 183.. missing 38
You should see ru boggle. He's full of it. ;)
I have to list now.. hate listing
Oh I see. That makes a little more sense.
37
It doesn't hurt to list when stuck. It's amazing how easy it is to find words even just knowing what there is left to find.
Gosh, I keep seeing Stalin today.
Yep. See?
oh, but if time is of the essence.. you are allowed, ru
In the grid, of course; not in person.
I wish I were smart enough to not have to list
You're not lacking in smarts, ru.
Everyone has to list occasionally.
saves a lot of time, though
hah, monkeyed the ru5 - newbie for me
at5/10 please
who in the world would know all the obscure words?
Yes and nothing wrong with it. It isn't giving you the words... just letting you know what there is to find.
... at + stuff they put on the roads

Hi Dose
thank you
Damn. Was just typing a clue... oh well.

maybe uber-utterly?
uberly utterly. sounds like some kind of margarine.

with anyone who says I look like Lauren Bacall, BabbleRabble ;)
gonna try that myself. should be fun!
in the old days some would answer "your breath and a buffalo fart"
yay, I've started something!
Holy crap. Vincent D'Onofrio? There's no resemblance between us, haha.
to "gotta match"
Haha Andrew. Your result was better than mine.

Only cropped closer around my face.
at least you're trainable babble
as rin tin tin.. at least you'd be fetching
I used a photo of me as a boy. I'm not sure if Lauren would be flattered.
OMG! mine came out as margaret thatcher!!!
Oh weird. And it doesn't ask you what your gender is either. You'd think it would.
I belong to the non-fetchers union
Haha, medusa!
just as well; I'm never sure what answer to give :P
wow, Medusa!
Haha, Andrew!
I'm not sure whose match is less flattering medusa... yours or mine?
that facial recognition matched me with Ringo starr
wonders if Meryl Streep will take medusa's role
the funny thing is i have a friend who kept calling me marge last night!
Well could be worse I guess, crossy. ;)
Oh really H? Why?

Hey all. I jst came back from a quick start this morning 146 left...
Hi viajes!
Hey red.

right im off coz i got a friend on his way over. see you all tomorrow!
Have fun medusa. :)
how is everyone?
Bye, Medusa! Enjoy your company :)
Well thanks and you, red?
you too neil.
I'm well. trying to get organized for the work week...even though I do have Monday off..
Good, red. I'm always trying to get organized... and stay that way.
the staying that way thing is the worst. Right now I am trying to clip video bites, and then get them into a format that will go from my mac to a regular PC. I wish I knew anything about computers!
the worst new task I have though is ironing...
Oh. What video format?
Because most popular video formats play on both PCs and Macs.
I pulled some files off the net using graboid? and I am wondering If I can dump it into imovie, clip to the 30 sec clips I want and then somehow put them into an email and then insert into a power point...
They don't teach this in nursing school.
at least the grid is pretty easy.
congrats, medusa, wtg!!! hi all.. back with some watermelon.. passes juicy slices around..
.. napkins too
*enjoying watermelon* thanks aloyisius, and hey all
hiya stid (-:
red, if you're still here why wouldn't you just insert the files directly into the ppt?
hope you are well aloyisius -- are you in line for Beryl?
am in Ohio now, stid..
will be watching storms via the N Hurr Ctr site
hubby goes back on June 7th
ah, so safe from this one! good. they are saying (out here) that it's likely just to feel like a series of thunderstorms over several days... but I remember big rains when we lived in Puerto Rico and Virginia, so very glad to be well away from it!
NBT!
well, we were having an awful drought, so Fla. def needs rain!
why is hubby going back? un-battening the hatches?
yes, florida, texas, everywhere in between it seems is too dry.
he has to maintain the grove.. during the rainy season, the grasses/weeds grow like crazy.. can't let it get out of hand.. vines would grow over the trees, etc..
oh, yes that makes sense -- do you have kudzu infestation?
no, thank goodness.. but lots of potato vines and other species
that's good -- kudzu is scary! I keep thinking we should be eating it, then it will stop growing...
wish there were some good kudzu dishes to fix.. a kudzu cookbook, lol
kudzu kookbook
I think there is ... here's the livestrong page on kudzu http://www.livestrong.com/article/4743 10-how-to-cook-eat-kudzu/
wow.. ty stid! will bookmark that (-:
think I read that it was imported as a cattle feed?
yes, that and soil stabilization -- all that monocropping in the 1800s eroded a lot of land. here is another resource -- long but recipes at the end. http://www.motherearthnews.com/Organic -Gardening/1979-03-01/The-Kudzu-Connec tion.aspx

back for the lingering 14 words.
hey jes. I have 89 dangling words...
hi stid :) how're lucky and the budgiebirds?
they are doing okay, a little peeved because I am spending a lot of time today working inside on an online course (free) that I really want to get through. The last two online multi-day courses I signed up for I didn't actually stick with. The class is on designing courses that use technology, something that I am hoping to grasp before I have my own classroom. This is my chance to make the most of this sort of excellent professional development until the next school year.
lucky won't lay with you while you watch the internets?
he paces and whines
hmm. what a booger.
LOL and the birds screech at just the right moment to bust my concentration. *sigh*
stopped in to enjoy some babble chat between laundry loads
And Tom mowed down a rose that was only just now getting back to health after being defoliated by the deer over the winter. I dug it up and put it in a pot with rich dirt hoping it can regenerate one more time. *heavy sigh* it wasn't on purpose, but it makes me sad.
hy jilly
or hey jilly
they're just commenting on the show :)
hi stid and jes
LOL -- well there is a lot of built-in redundancy, to be sure, but I need the repetition to help me internalize the concepts and terminology.
Oh, I know all about that stid, my hubby once helped weed the garden and pulled up ALL my cilantro...thought it was a weed
sa8,45 clue?
ack. yep. And I am pretty sure the "ragged robin" plant that my mother in law gave me years ago was weeded out too, but that could have been me, forgetting where it had been placed.
there's an SA 8? oh dear...
assume you mean the one after the hunger word
there are two sa8
jes, the sa8 you want is something that is absorbent
sa8/45= noun for something that soaks in
thanks for the hunger word jilly and hey peri
or something that absorbs
hey stid
oooh, GREAT clue peri!
stiddy I made an untuna spread with garbanzo beans. did I ever give you the recipe. it is really good
Hi again peri
I don't know if you did, peri, but I can check. hold on
hi jily
or jilly
yes, you did! I still have the recipe, and glad you mentioned it because I am getting nervous about all the tuna we eat! LOL
oh good. it is easy to make and delish, imho
I have a lot of Coba beans to use tonight, not sure what I am going to make with them, but they should be a nice change of pace from pinto beans. I might spice them up and then make tamales tomorrow.
untuna?
never heard of Coba beans
I am planning tamale pie made with antelope
basically use the garbanzos in place of a can of tuna fish. it's yummy!
antelope meat?
thanks for the sa clue (belatedly- distracted by phone)
hm. that would be different, jilly -- home-grown? were they eating your roses?
you have made it, stiddy?
yes, when you reminded me and I looked, I remembered when I made it. but it was a while ago, almost four years!
anglo is not a word?
oh my, that long ago?
LOL, nope. Gift from a friend.
robwhy..I had that same sentiment
yep. can you imagine we have been online friends for so long and still haven't met? someday, I hope..
hey rob. it would be a proper noun
I hope so too, stid
aha
with game meat it's good to use a strong sauce like mexican or italian...takes the gaminess down a bit...
wish I could do some traveling like sue this summer but there is no one to look after my cat even tho there are several other people living here at the moment :(
I can't eat anything like that any more, but I had elk meat once about 25 years ago, is it like that?
Speaking of that, had better scoot and get dinner started...bbl...nice chatting *poof*
I don't eat red meat and would never, ever had eaten antelope meat
later jilly! I am going to go make my glass noodles for a snack. brb

stidmama, I have misplaced that recipe you have in your profile. how can I transfer it from you profile to me?
I can email it to you peri -- LOVE this recipe, and have some blackberries all thawed out to make a topping for dessert this evening!
are you still at verizon for email?
thanks, would appreciate that, stid
hi - was reading about un-tuna and found an alternative to the garbanzo beans, if you're interested - frozen and thawed tofu - different texture, maybe a little more like tuna
okay, sent it off, will come from me at gmail
yes I am stid
hey welki! is it fishing season yet?
here's the recipe site: http://hungryvegan.blogspot.ca/2009/07 /great-untuna-saladcenter.html
I am not crazy about tofu
but I will check out that site, welki
it is, stid, but we've been too busy. maybe next weekend
will look for it stiddy
Hi everyone, could I please have a clue for the as 6/21. Thanks
bbs
a + you ski down the sl5
that looks like a good recipe, welki.
hey girlie
i thought so, too - bet even peri would like it ;)
Thanks! I hate words beginning with vowels.
yw :-0
I am watching a video on instructional design that is using "fishing" as the example skill set. LOL so it's funny you should show up!
merci bien, chere Une! comment sa va? Fait pluie aujord'hui?
i worked with a man who's in d.c. this week - he has seain's and jmc's info - he's looking for restaurants, things to do and i really hope he can connect with them
oh man, we could sure use some rain -- dry as a bone and 95 today
and here, there was snow to the west of us - it's in the high 40s, low 50s now
(hard frost last night)
watered and watered and watered today -- plants AND to cool down the thirsty birds! LOL
maybe Beryl will bring you some rain soon, Une, i hear she's a big storm.
welki, that's amazing
oh welki, that's not a lot of fun... but probably better a little warm than freezing. I planted (optimistically) our hubbard squash today. Hoping that 110 days from now we will be baking seeds and eating pies!
yep - and that's following what seems like weeks of rain. wish i could bottle up the surplus weather and send it down to you
Hi. Just getting the fireplace to blaze again. Damp and cool today.
i don't know how the farmers up here cope with our insane weather - i am so appreciative of them, they really must love what they do because boyhowdy, it's hard, hard work
stid, doesn't look like Beryl's gonna influence our weather . . . sigh
BUT thanks to all the spring rains, my hydrangeas have been LUSH!
(love hydrangeas)
hello Mother
hey, stidgmere :-)
Hi mama.
I like hydrangeas, one of these days I'll get a couple for the wooded area in the back. They'd do well there.
once they're established, they require no care at all except an occasional drink in dry weather
I've had enough blooms this year to be able to share bouquets with a number of folks :-)
yes, it's the type of shrub I really try to plant -- low maintenance. I am trying to get the only beds that need attention to be the veggies and a few flower beds up by the front entry. Everything else I try to plan so it's a once-a-year touch up.
I have lovely snowball bush blooms this year.
i had some back east - miss them, forsythia, peonies, azaleas, pussy willows - sigh
cool!!
welki, my peonies were very happy this year too -- one of my favorites
I like forsythia, but Mother is allergic -- I have lilacs and roses in the yard, so am avoiding planting forsythia. (although down by the road a bush might work...)
sounds beautiful, stiddy
ok - if i start now and swing south to pick une up, we can be there by - thursday, if we drive straight through, stid :)
it's nice, but somewhat wild after all those years unable to keep things up. By next year the yard will be functional again I think.
:-) I'll put the kettle on for tea, and we can visit Mother, too -- she has a "garden room" that is just delightful.
welki LOL!!
ooohhh, delightful, stid!
hello everyone :)
hello nan!
hey, nan!
could someone please help with the an7/28 cannot find it at all please and thanks
sorry, don't have it yet
speed, it was clued for me as AN + vowel + an electric shock used by police
We sat in the pergola yesterday but today we're fireside. I made a red velvet cake which is supposed to be made with oil but I made it with butter. Everything is better with butter. I should have put bacon in it too for corssy.
thanks you stid with your help got it!!
bacon would be gilding the lily, Mother
yw speedfreak
I have a yellow and white iris blooming. It also needs no gilding.
oh, I am envious! my iris aren't even thinking about blooming yet
my iris came and went a couple of months ago :-)
Everyone's yard has its own timetable for blooms.
We should have a Babble Iris tour. Sort of guess when you should arrive at any particular spot.
:-D
we could post our current blooms as profile pics...
It will be fall before I figure it out again--how to change the portrait picture.
ok, hang on . . .
<<<<<<<<<<<<< tada!!
stiddy, I got the recipe, thanks
okay, new icon
yw peri
those are GORGEOUS, Une!
tres tres belles!
beautiful, stid!
stid, those blooms are all on one little hydrangea in my backyard -- crazy colors, eh?
hello every one
it's a native berry, manages to show up in lots of unexpected places -- thimbleberries which are nice, but full of seeds.
hey, onyx :-)
they are crazy, don't hydrangeas usually pick one color, based on acidity of the land?
hey onyx
thimbleberries . . . charming flower and charming name!
yes, stid . . .
THIMBLEBERRIES? I HAVE A BLACKBERRY OF SOME SORT IN THE BACK YARD. DOESNT HAVE THORNS
oops didn't mean to shout
ok, ladies, am taking a break -- loved seeing you all! *poof*
LOL thornless blackberries are nice, ours of course are far from thornless...

Goodbye cybernan! I will see you tomorrow in the log.
Hi Min; doing well.....I think we went through this same exchange yesterday! LOL

mmm. antelope-stuffed jilly.
Good for you! I skipped oly before carmon started on the birthday cake project again today!
mcurl...gaining quite the reputation eh?
good for you! where did you head out to? the beach?
home sweet home!
Oh, it was really good...not gamey...very lean..perfect for the tamale pie! And have enough left for a second meal!!
hmph. home. you sound fuddy-duddy like me! LOL
I don't mind helping with the projects but sometimes they get a bit intense
so glad it turned out well jilly
home is where you babble?
absolutely! Although I can babble on my nook away from home
anywhere I hang my grid is home... *singing off key*
didn't sound off key to me1
My home's in Montana, I wear a bandana, my spurs are silver; my pony is gray...
My luck never changes With foot in the stirrup I'll gallop away Yip-ee-tie, yip-ee-tie-yeh! Yip-ee-tie, yip-ee-tie-oh!
wow jilly! that's some great lasso work there.
When valleys are dusty My pony is trusty He lopes through the blizzard The snow in his ears The cattle may scatter But what does it matter My rope is a halter for pig-headed steers
*quietly closes door to corral after jilly*
Yip-ee-tie, yip-ee-tie-yeh! Yip-ee-tie, yip-ee-tie-oh! I whistle a merry old song of the trail My home's in Montana I wear a bandana My spurs are silver My pony is gray When riding the ranges My luck never changes With foot in the stirrup I'll gallop away
Okay, I'm done...just couldn't resist with the topic of home....
*checks jilly's temperature*
it's a fine song, jilly -- I can smell the beans and the campfire, and burnt boiled coffee
hey ruru
hmmm.. thought those spurs were for later jilly
I'll blame it on ra7/28 combo....
ROFL
Oh ruru...how ever did you know *wicked wink*
just a wild guess
that was good Jilly---the birthday cake project will contain a pretty Pony!
Good Lord. Jilly has been into the Montana Moonshine.

Hi all
hi gwen
Gotta love it when the grandkids play with the parent's phone and they manage to call grandma!
nice
fun, gwenski
i know---my 15 month old granddaughter was on the phone with me and managed to "three-way" call my house phone!
Pretty smart kiddos!
and got papa so we had a fune conversation while her momma tried to figure out what she had done!
you have truly exceptional grandchildren, mcurl
Gwen, soon they'll be babbling!!
So true!
Hello gwenski! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
hi folks!
Of course, these kids are in a different time zone (six hours behind me), so it could mean my phone going off in the middle of the night sometime.
Helllo welki! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog.
jm - thanks for the hospitality, i hope he calls, too.
Thunderstorms in DC, JMC? None out here.
Good evening Babblers
13 left here. I may need to ask for help
hey wht
hi wht
Greetings King Wht.
Hello wht!
I can clue gwen...
Hello wht! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
sa 8,45? (last sa)
hi welki and wht
I am fine. It was a beautifule day. We had lunch with old friends. And I am down to 63 left in the grid.
st 8/50?
yes it just blew thru. . . seems mostly done already
sa 8/45 is sa plus some people eat out in a res*a*****.
st8/50=pool of still water...build on the 6/24
Thanks Min
y
yw
st 8/50 is st 4/6 word plus Mr. Hawthorne's nickname
Oh! I was trying to use a word with two N's. Thanks!
ty Min.
yw
well, I am under 60, so feel good about my performance today. off to study some more. have a great evening, all! *poof*
bye stid...
wd stiddie and bye
Goodbye stidmama! I will see you tomorrow in the log.
jm? will you have 'off' from your studies during the summer?
yes. . . friday was my last day for that so now i will be focused on my organization and maybe making some money
although i do have 2 papers left 15 pages and 20 pages
What are you doing now jmc?
so almost done :)
see my profile jilly
i was suppose to have another class but it got canceled . . .
Hey, jmc. We finally got our solar panels turned on this week.
wd wht
Of course, until today, it has been mostly cloudy.
mine have decided to die
i have sent an email and who knows when they will get back to me. . .
I thought they were supposed to live forever, or at least 20 years. What happened?
Good for you jmc...our state constitution dealt with the corporation/politic issue nearly 100 years ago...
i have no clue. . .it may be the monitor rather than the panels. . .
we will see how that turns out . . . your state constitution is before the supremes shortly
Does your electric meter still run backwards?
Yep, *fingers crossed*
i haven't looked. . . it is outside
popping out. Thanks for the clues. Bye
bye gwen
i think it looks pretty good for montana but that doesn't solve the federal issue
Ah, yay. A little rain here too. Forced all the loud, drunk, barbecuing neighbors indoors. : D
Our oldest (History major) is home visiting and we have had many a conversation on it..
bye gwen...catch you later!
yay rain!
Sometimes rain has more benefits than moisture!
jmc, do you think there is a chance that the supremes will admit to having made a mistake?
well it is possible. . . that is why they took the montana case. . . but there is more to it than that
your neighbors are the Donner Party Molly?
I tell you, the history behind our MT aritcles should give them pause for cause....the War of the Copper Kings was a really black eye in the history of Montana..
jmc, I actually think that the real problem was not corporate personhood as much as equating political contributions to speech.
are there any books or articles about that jilly? I am interested in as much information as possible
Yes, Ru, the Donner party. Much louder though.
I think it's a snapshot of what's evil in our political system, heck, our nation in general...the WRONG people have all the influence
wht it is a collision of two problems. . . corporate personhood is a problem and campaign finance is a problem. . . this case is the crossroad.
yikes
I'd hate that
I agree jilly which is why i want to spend the rest of my career dealing with these issues. . . and then redistricting. . .
this is the best kind of learning
jmc: The War of The Copper Kings by Glassock
(The War of The Copper Kings, C.B. Glasscock and The Battle for Butte, Michael P. Malone - gosh, I love Google!)
ty both. . . i will read them
http://www.amazon.com/War-Copper-Kings -Carl-Glasscock/dp/1931832218
what a last name on that writer
fragile even
MIchael Malone was the President of my alma mater
i should have paid better attention in school
why welki? its not like they tell you about this stuff in most schools
maybe not, but perhaps if a spark had been lit, i'd be better informed. it wasn't until college that i learned how to 'learn' history - the only way i could retain any of it was to associate art and music with a particular era
another interesting one is Collapse by Michael Diamond...on the societal implications in general
already had that one in my sights jilly but ty
good evening, all, we are in Elmira NY, on our way back home tomorrow!
so - the punchline is that i'm grateful that you folks open my eyes on a daily basis :)
hi uu
hi sue
True for all of us welki!
hahahahaha great punch line
hi uusue!
hi welki and jmc!
*innocent look*
*not so innocent look*
and Jilly!
:)
Jilly, Collapse is pretty scary when you realize that it applies to us, now.
I too am glad that my eyes open on a daily basis :-)
Sure does...
me too, sue - yep, when they open, i think, 'it's a good day'
Welki, so if you need music to learn history, start listening to the likes of Woody Guthrie.
yes three years ago i went to a baptist peace fellowship called "when the empire fails"
and pete seeger
glad I was not in Illinois today, high temp at home was 97F!
wht - exactly what i mean. if you listen to the lyrics of, for instance, Deportee, you really learn more than a song
pete seeger :)
<-- has a stack of Sing Out! magazines
so uu am i to understand i won't be able to see the transit of venus anyway? there is a baseball game that night and i am torn
Peter Paul and Mary too...
yep - and the weavers
That would be make a great history course. History from Sing Out Magazine.
ooo i would take that course!
you need a telescope with a solar filter, Jmc
Me too!
or there may be places that will live stream it (which is how I saw the eclipse)
so i should just go to that game
you can listen to alan lomax's archives online
no telescope or filter
I think so, jmc
wht: http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/201 2/03/28/148915022/alan-lomaxs-massive- archive-goes-online
<<-- would travel to take that course
maybe we could make it a babble meet up
so instead, i'll eat a piece of cake - g'night good people (and don't forget tom paxton)
(and phil ochs)
Babble Meet Up with Alan Lomax and Peet Seeger?
niters welki
hmmm pete seeger is a possibility . . . he has been at several quaker things
(and eric anderson - who taught me what a horrible thing strip-mining can be)
bye all i need to hit the hay
hehehe -- seems i'm having a little difficulty leaving.
night, jmc!
By jmc
*poof*
but i'm going out singing - byeeeee
jmc...back to original topic, you might google text\books by K Ross Toole on Montana history...
Does anyone have a clue for the second ra7, the ra7,28
I have a gun noise, wht
LOL....my favorite of the day...tommy gun wht...
that was it uu. Thanks.
don't forget the plural!
(oh - peter seeger just turned 93 a few weeks ago and alan lomax died about 10 years ago - we'll have to find other speakers :)

we have lost our living room remote. the tv has been stuck on msnbc's how to catch a predator all night. ryan is going insane
now he's looking in the storage for it. what would it be doingt here anyway lol
Can think of worse channels for the tv to be stuck on
yeah but its "how to catch a predator"
stupid question I guess . . . why can't you manually change the channel?
i suggested that to ryan. he says no its easier to use the remote
ok . . . LOL
it is odd though how it has disappeared. we have looked everywhere.
do you have a sneaky dog or cat?
i suggested that so we looked in their hiding spots. nothing.
hmmm
not int he cupboards, fridge, freezer, bathroom, not under the furniture, not behind the tv, not int he bedroom
