flosey, using elbow crutches. when i had the ankle surgery, i fell off the underarm ones.

plus, have been weight-bearing as tolerated since day 1
not familiar with elbow crutches
they have semi-loops which go around your forearm
ah yes, have seen them
much easier to use. and i don't fall off them. * giggle *
They are great, flosey. I used them for many years. The best ones are Loftstrand...don't settle for anything else....if they dont have them they can get them.....Warm Springs, GA is where I got my first pair.
good to know, if ever needed
they were given to me when I sprained ankle but I couldn't stand to have it dangling
hey carol. i got mine at the op. shop. paid a pittance for them. thought it would be better than having to hire them 4 times
I used to shop and ride the escaletor (sp), holding one crutch and bags in one hand and holding onto the rail with the other.
You will soon be able to go about with one hanging onto your arm until you need it.
The good thing about it, rose, you probably won't have a need for them very long. I am so glad that you progression is good...Proud of you, girl.
brand name on mine is Coopers

Thanks much, tor.
+ ul5, 5, 5
so you're having to start from scratch, basically, do I understand correctly? I hate that, it's happened to me so many times.
Thanks, rbud, I really appreciate it.
Yep. Most aggravating.
Thanks again, tor. I was able to get them all from that one clue.
yqw
I have started saving a lot of photos, notes and info on a little thumb drive so I will stop losing everything, it helps.
That sounds great, rbud.
I was lucky a time or two, friend was able to pull stuff off my hard drive for me, even though the PC went totally out.
Wow!
I probably should start getting ready for bed....I'm getting dirty looks from my four legged son. He doesn't like the light turned on. Not that he is spoiled or anything.
he just hooked it into one of his computers, and put it all on a disc for me. don't suppose you could have something like that done? He's sort of a whiz, I have to say, was all beyond me.
well, good luck, hope it works out for you some way or another. :)
That is wonderful, rbud. I really don't know anyone here to do that but I will ask around.
Sweet dreams, y'all.

the idea being that I know all the administrative stuff and would be able to help them re-invent themselves for the future without injecting my own agenda (since I don't have one)
And what is Frank's input?
nothing is certain yet, but it would certainly keep me from being bored, and presumably they would also pay me, which would be nice
Frank is excited - he likes it when people appreciate me :-)
I appreciate you!!!!!!
Good morning, loves.

hi crossy, sammy, nan, Molly
I am missing the lone o. any hints?
ot5/10, a water creature
sorry Christine, but that's not the lone o
try a public speaker
sorry that is or
that's it, ty Bugsaw
oops, that's what I should've said
no again, try it
ot4/4
sorry to the chog, I am more involved in the Olympics
thanks for trying christine. I appreciate it
okay, if not that, I have or5/10
*!* ta da *!* - lunch time :)
ot 4 is a man's name
YAY cybernan
or6 18 should be the lone o
Ibought a television on Friday, just to see the Olymoics, but all that's shown is water sports. Only so much swimming/diving. I enjoyed the rowing, but too much not of interest to me. I wish they'd show the horse trials, or soccer. Almost anything that doesn't involve water!!
It is
I'm enjoying the gymnastics. Especially the men and their really buff bodies
you missed three days of horse stuff but I think there might be more
or 6/18 - person who makes a speech
bye all - hagd
Like the synchronized diving
I wouldn't've invested $600 if I'd known there was so little of anything to interest me. Still, every now and then, I see bits of my home town. The Center is about a halfmile from my sister's house.
Have you not been shown any cycling?
Bugsaw, when was the horse stuff? I've had the television on every day, since Friday night - oh, that messy opening sequence.
I didn't watch much volleyball until I happened onto a game between China and the US women. They were fantastic
How about the beach volleyball Christine
Yes Haz, I caught some of the men's and women's cycling, but it was chopped up with other sports. And beach volleyball is okay - did you see the Austrian team put a scare into the American women.
I think the jumping was yesterday and the cross-country was the day before that. I missed the first day. I have heard from others in the US that your coverage is more about the sports where the US will do well. Perhaps it wasn't shown where you are.
Yes, I saw that Christine. Pretty impressive on the Austrians part
Equestrian team events happened Monday/Tuesday with individual stuff still to happen. The BBC is giving coverage to just about everything.
The American coverage is not the greatest. It's so overblown
the cross country course was quite tough andthere were a lot of spill from tired horses
I think water polo is a dreadful waste of time/water.
howdy bichon, was not ignoring you,was telling my brother to hustle over to outlook, com and grab a decent email addy as they are to phase out the @hotmail.com addys over the next year
I wish we could get the BBC feed here.
Canadian networks are doing well too Haz. I bet you are all proud of how well GBR is doing
I think NBC is the only non-cable station broadcasting the Games.
They (the BBC) are showing Olympics on several channels with the opportunity to choose which sport you want to see. The choice can be dizzying.
Can't wait til the swimming is over. Too US centric
try sports channels Christine. they have more
well,we pulled a batch of bronzes out of the water anyways
GB is doing very well but I just enjoy watching everyone performing to the very best of their ability. The home crowd cheered Michael Phelps home because he's a phenomenal swimmer.
and some silvers for the ladies 8 rowing
The synchro divers from Canada are good. Surprised to see the US get medals
The rowing is so beautiful - they make it look so easy, makes you think you could do it.
I won't get into heaven for this but I am glad when Michael Phelps does not win. He was just running on ego and the others have worked so hard
Agreed Bug
Oh, I'm sure he works hard, too.
I don't know about that Christine.
agreed Christine until you see them at the end when they just fall all over and can barely hold up one finger to say they were first
I think he worked hard for Beijing, but slacked off the last 4 years
lol christine, they do make it look easy, but see the arms and legs on those girls?? lol they could snap me in two
Isn't the breast-stroke ugly, looks like humps in the water.
absolutely bichon.
They train here Crossy and they are all so tall as well. They look like beautiful giants
The breast stroke is neat though. Much rather do that than the butterfly
Next time around, I plan to stay size 6, and take up rowing. I think/know I'd swamp the boat if I got in today.
any hints for an 8, pls
there is an ar 8 right after a 7 so maybe it is a plural
st8...***ong as a ox + stil****** are a type of high heel
an imaginary word
ty Molly
ex8 - one who gets money by more foul means than fair
ty Haz
think I need a break bbl
You're welcome.
hi kids anyone help on the ar 7>?
seems ar7 and ar 8 is the pulpy material out of a south american tree.have no other idea how to clue it
ar7 - misspelled version of Hamlet's speech - 'To be ar7 be
ar7...last three of knitting wool + last last four of jackpot game you buy a ticket for
there we go,haz haz it nailed
And plural for the ar8
LOL Haz very good
Got to get the Bard in now and again.
Good clue Haz : D
Thanks!
thank you
I have ar8/40, ex8/65, and st8/40 - do you have the fourth 8?
in 8/40
in8 - to pronounce carefully
thanks you - I'll look.
ill take a clue for that st 8 please
st8 is a plural for st7 - st plus a water creature, but backwards.
See Molly at 2:52pm
uusue still in here?
Oh, I had the in8, but I overlooked it. Duh ...
water creature backwards...mmm
playful water creature
It's an animal that lives on land and water, in the grid.
Hello, Dorens.
i have seen them cavorting in ponds as i canoe by; they are cute
Will you be aiming to be in Rio with your canoe next Olympics, Dorens?
hello haz. nice to see you. i guess i don't play often during the right time
ty al,found it
I don't chat very much, Dorens, just now and again when I'm in the mood.
ever see them hold each other as they nap,so they do not drift apart? cute as heck
haha. i am sure they are vying for an overweight woman in her 60's to participate. Personally i would love to
ah, same here. and i am in the mood less and less. more interested in playing the game
I was watching some of the canoe slalom course. It's far removed from a gentle paddle up and down the river.
Doreens, I'll see you there - I'll be the (by then) 79yo size 6, rowing for England.
Sorry - s/b Dorens
what i would love, would be to be in Rio. and that's about it... my canoe is actually more like a kayak... double paddle, but stil I do it in very gentle fashion
ok christine... you and i are racing!!
Ddi you see the kayaks on the white water course? Very scary-looking
hello all
Yes, lots of turbulence and excitement.
I saw that Christine, very scary indeed
hello peri
hey Doren
Hello, peri.
hi there Haz, nice to see you
Dorens, four years to lose xxxxxx pounds - and learn to row. But that looks much like the physio machine, after my knee replacement.
85 left but stucik
And you, peri.
:)
stuck even
Uh, more scary than exciting, and that was from my couch.
Well now, there's hope for you ladies. One of GB gold medal winners in the rowing only took up the sport four years ago.
by then i'll probably be a candidate for one as well christine. and, haz, just what age is this GB gold medal winner??
Yes, but was she 75 at the time? I saw there is a Japanese man who is in his 70s.
Hello everybody. :-)
She's 26.
hey soodle
Hello, Dear
Hello, Soodle.
inhis 70's. is there an age cut off in the Olympics?
ah... just turn the letters around and she and i are the same age then. hi sood
don't think peri. One horseman was 67 and the Cdn woman's cox is 53
Oh Lord, at 26 I could've at least thought of learning a sport. Perhaps the man in his 70s is an official sideline-sitter - I could do that.
ok,did not know that
Haz- wonderful to see the Craigavon team doing so well in the rowing.
I wasn't that enthusiastic about the Olympics at the start but I've been sucked in and am enjoying seeing all the dedication and hard work of the sportsment in all the different disciplines.
Soodles, it was great. I was urging them on!
they are oddly compelling. i am fine not turning them on, yet once they are on, it's hard to stop watching
I know. I got caught up with the women's bike road race on Sunday, enjoying the scenery as they headed for London.
Hi All
Hello, hego.
hi Haz, enjoying the games I see.
Very much, hego. It's been an education!
Haz i thought you knew everything already. lol
Hello everyone, Back from lunch at the 21 Club.
hi Annie, how was it?
hey annie. fancy pants (you are in the grid)
The finer points of the team pursuit cycling had passed me by before, I'll have to admit.
Haz is one of the best informed peopl I've come across.
Very nice, good service. Had a great time.
Hello, Annie. (Is the 21 club fancy and should we be calling you Maam?)
I love Manhattan
see haz, told you you were intimidating. not in a bad way, but if you come across as one of the best informed people, that in and of itself can be
definitely Hax.
Haz is here! Very nice place. Bobby had to wear a jacket.
Not intimidating at all. Impressive!
oh cool annie... didn't realize he went too..Did he love it?
I'd hate to be intimidating!
Never Haz
Dorens, He loved it. He had steak which was excellent and 2 Cokes.!
You were always so nice when I first played.
I'm so glad you got to go Annie.
I'm just looking up to see how long you've been playing, hego.
Hi Hego. Thanks for the lovely photos on FB. I really felt as if I was almost there with you!
oh haz, no.. in a good way... as in one who knows all. you have always been a nice person -- one of the best cluers i've come across... and also funny
I wish you were Soodle. That would be fun!
Haz is very witty.
Are you back in the US now, Hego?
Yes for now.
Thank you, Dorens. I appreciate it.
Haz is in the top 10 in all categories.
we could make a dent in those wine bottles that are everywhere.
I'm turning red....
i once said this a very very long time ago, haz... it is only about the fact that you are so very knowledgable (like.. you probably know how to spell that and I don't)
I am confident that I wouldn't make the Babble Sewing Team.
A gold, for sure
red Haz. now there's a picture.
annie! hey! good meal? see any celebs? :-)
I wouldnt make the Babble "giving advice about computers" team
i think it was about you, fmitch and ata... that when you were in the chat (as you often were) it could be intimidating, but i certinly didn't mean it negatively..
Hi Une, No celebs but good food and service.
we all stink at something
Those were happy days, Dorens.
some of us stink at more than one thing
wonderful!
good food is all that matters.
oh yes... you three were terrific in the chat
I'd not make the Sewing Team, Annie is off the Computer advice section. Any other failures to make the grade?
they really were Dorens, for sure
I can't sing
or throw a ball
annie, it also has this sense of history (21 club) which makes it fun - i do remember taking my daughter there and she just loved it
or catch either
Hego is out of the choir.
I miss FM's lunch menus. In fact, I miss FM.
lol Haz
And the ballsports are closed to her.
would be easier for me to list what I CAN do, than to list what I can't
same here, dorens! LOL
There was a picture of Babe Ruth and his signature which impressed Bobby. The ceiling made a hit with him too.
Oh stop Dorens. I'll bet you're good at lot of things.
take me out of anything requiring a sense of direction! LOL
good at word games!!
FM would definitely have been on the Babble Arts team.
yes!
Absolutely.
ah, she certainly is missed. harder on you than the rest of us, haz.
Une is barred from the Babble Orienteering Team, even with Sat-Nav and other resources.
:-D
I LIVE for google maps! LOL
I AM good at recalling all sorts of irrelevant facts no one else is interested in, however.
i am good at grandmothering... in fact am up here on grandma duty for three days and loving it. need to go pick them up shortly. was pleasant to have time to myself and babble with you folks
I think it's worse because I worry that she didn't tell me the full extent of her problems. Ata feels the same way.
<---loves all maps, but Google rocks.
glad you agree, hego :-)
ah, but haz that was her choice and you can't worry about it. you were both good friends, and that's all that counts
haz, i totally understand . . .
hego makes the Trivial Pursuit team.
Were you and FM friends, apart from Babble? Were you neighbours?
that's a wonderful talent Dorens
yes I am good at that game Haz.
if she couldn't tell you, it was her choice and had nothing to do with you
I can chair the "gleaning free food" team -- this spring I finagled 300 dozen gratis free-range eggs for our soup kitchen!
way to go!!!!
i would hazard a guess that many of us word nerds are also good at trivial pursuit sort of things
We became very frequent e-mailers and often spoke on the phone. She became a very good friend.
another very witty lady.
I'm sorry for your loss.
Thanks, Christine.
I tell my family that I forget stuff because my hard drive is full.
that is what neurologists say too. you are right
so true, hego!
Uneaixoise - I looked at your profile - a sanctuary for deaf dogs? Never heard of such a thing. My parents had a deaf Dalmation, I think he could read lips, because he'd stand right in fromt of you, with his head to one side.
common among dalmatians . . . yes, this sanctuary/ranch just opened last week -- fabulous, eh?
Well, think of how many things you do remember, since you were just a baby.
sponsored by the AngelDogs Foundation
There's something about the genetics of white cats/dogs etc that predisposes them to deafness.
true, haz -- one of my first transports was a beautiful all-white deaf Great Dane
that was a looong time ago Chris. lol
(Just confirming my entry for the Trivia Team)
haz LOL
fw! not too many really strange words today.
now there is some thing I did not know Haz.
Well done, Uncover.
WEe had a white Siamese - well he started out a Lavender Sewalpoint, then lost his color at about three months, but he was deaf, and one friend called him Catatonic, because he'd close his eyes ... and fall over. I have the same problem, so maybe I'm really a white cat ??
I want Haz o my team!!
Congrats Unc!!
had a white boxer as a kid, he was only predisposed to love water , and hate cats
on my team
Sealpoint, of course.
Is anybody going to be on the Babble Rap team?
Haz, I would have loved to come to your tea party.
That's another one I can rule out.
me too
You'd have been very welcome, hego.
Haz did you hear we are having a Pacific rim meet up?
ty Haz
Saw a great T shirt. It said, "No sense being pessimistic. It doesn't work anyway.
ok, before i leave... Haz.. was it FM who had the babble jet that would be called upon to spirit folks across the ocean?
Yes, I think so - is that the one where ruru might show up?
yes, oh, I so hope he does.
stiddy and i are going.
Yes, FM had the babble jet and she used to talk about fuelling it up ready to transport babblers around.
Hi. I'm going too.
i loved that!!!
I must leave for a while - we're making quilts for Children's Hospital, and for Quilts of Valor, and I still need to finish some blocks. (not all who sign up have time to do their blocks,).
Is Tom going?
I know - we used to let our imaginations run wild but we were quite sensible really.
I don't think so. He is working that week.
i'm out now... lovely chatting with you all... but grandma duty calls!
that's great g'mere.
Bye all.
Christine, enjoy your quilting - another team I'd never make!
Bye Dorens
Yes, hego. I'm looking forward to the northward meeting.
and Chris
bye, dorens -- gotta run as well -- good to see everyone! *poof*
me too.
Bye, Une. Hello, stidgmere.
Funny t-shirt, Uncover. : )
I must go too. Lovely chat with all of you. : )
Goodbye hego.
Bye, hego.
If Ruru is brave enough to be the lone male in that group, I'm going to have to get him some sort of award.
No other male babblers in the area?
I don't think any other men have said they are going. Not sure who is close to the area.
It'll be fun for those who do go, I'm sure.
Isnt Tor out West?
Where and when is the northward meeting and who is invited?
Tor is in California, but I have not heard anything about him being there.
Check bugsaw's site. She is hostess and high coordinator. Although, she may not be high. I mean exalted.
Okay, I must head off to collect my younger daughter. Nice to chat with you and happy babbling to all. Bye!
So nice to see you today Haz.
Bye Haz, great seeing you. Im on my way out too. Bye dear babblers.
Bye Annie, have fun!
Bye!
Good bye those who are off to the vitually real world.
Juddering in and out with a very dodgy dodgy internet connction...... (((Hi Molly))))
Hello juddering Soodle. : )
Did you ever get a new laptop, or are you still hijacking your girlie's?
hello all!
Hi Cos
how goes it?
Hello soodle. Afternoon here and the sun is just coming out and clouds moving aside to let some sunshine in. Onshore breeze. Lovely fall day all around.
Hello stidg. cos, molly and Soodle!!
It goes very well Cos, how about you?
Hi jilly. Just finding a few words now and then.
Hi Jilly
Me too, bagged it on Tuesday, too tired to even see straight...which plummeted my stats...oh well...
begging, borrowing and stealing..........
Soodle, would you like to borrow my wheelbarrow? The cockles and mussels business is booming. : )
Thanks Molly. Alive Alive O-Oh...
E's elminated.
im good mooly... woke up in a good mood!
woke up a lot earlier than normal.. and u know.. chipper today. the apartment is spotless for once
Ooo, I love chipper cleaning moods.
nbt
I have to get my chipper revved up and get the steam cleaner out. The carpet is way overdue.
didnt clean today. was clean already. so i can actually feel like i can relax and not look in disgust
Come on up here and get my house spit spot Cos!!
I have a friend who lives alone and has a cleaning lady. How does one person make enough mess to justify a cleaning lady?
ryans mom has one and she lives alone. i dont understand it.
brb
I know I'm a bit late with this, but has anybody here read any of meave binchy's novels?
and nbs
*sigh* lots of phantom words today...
yes soodle.... one of my favourite authors. :-)
No Soodle, what genre are they?
evening all - back for the last 20
oh, I have every book Maeve Binchy has written - lovely, feel good books
Ooooh... Maeve Bincy died the other day. She wrote stories. Really great stories.. I can highly recommend her books to every body here.
oh, i am so sorry to hear that Soodle
I just found two that I hadn't read in my mom's books when I brought them home with me last Feb.
Hi giant!!
What type of stories?
Hi Jill
Jilly.... Circle of Friends might be her best known, as they made a movie of it
Thye are stories about people living ordinary lives in Ireland - they focus on human nature
Just down to earth good human stories... some romance, some history
Diane, Glan, I am so glad you both read her and enjoyed her. I was so sad to hear she died. i would have loved to have met her, and had a drink with her.
Tara Road was a favourite
The Copper Beech
and I missed that news item, thanks for that, soodle.
I'd have loved to have met her and had a drink wth her too
Will have to check her out, thanks Soodle, giant and dd!
If I ever felt down, reading a Maeve Binchy always cheered me up
Sorry to hear about Maeve Binchy : (
I assure you...... You won't regret reading any of her books. thats a promise.
Yes Jilly, you must ! .... if you want a good clean read that tugs at the heart. You really get into the "people". Another "nice" author I like is Rosamund Pilcher.... for the same reason
have you read any of her books, Molls?
I felt the same way when John O'Donohue died, Soodle. I swear, that man was my long lost brother. I would love to have met him and had a drink (or two) with him.
can anybody assist me with the last st7/28?
Favourite author of all time is Anya Seton.... loved every one of her books.
back
sorry Glant... not there yet
Haz's clue for st7/28...st + playful water creature, spelled backwards. She's so clever.
LOL... that was neat typing that up ! Thanks Molly via Haz !
Just got Copper Beach in ebook...
great clue - and I word i have never come across - thanls Molly
Jilly... I really enjoy my Kobo reader, but they are going to have to give better prices on latest books. If I'm going to pay the same price as I pay at e.g. Costco, I might as well get the REAL book so that I can lend it over and over.
aww and i had the st7 already. absolutely loved that clue molly
Well, only $7.99 and hubby and I share..if it's not on ebook i just don't seem to buckle down and read it
Yep, great clue!!
fireworks
anybody need help befor i toddle off to bed?
almost 1/2 way and hubby just pulled in from his trip..bbl
way to go, Glant.... I still have 103 remaining, but I must now go make another batch of jam... the berries are crushed and waiting !
Oh...Woot WooT WooT giant!!
*poof*
I agree Diane, about the price of ebooks.
Congrats Glant!! Time to feed Murphy, or at least play with him a while. Poof for me too.
happy babbling all -see you tomorrow
fe7 please?
First part of Uncle from Adams Family and last part of what you blow up for parties.
Molly, I have downloaded some 99 cent books as well, so it all balances out. I can download ebooks from our local library, but haven't figured how to get them onto my Kobo. I am missing a strategic step concerning Adobe.... I'll figure it out though.
tyvm!
Adobe is not very user friendly.
also, the library is limited as to how many ebooks they have ... there are long waiting lists for the newest books... I had thought they would be limitless!
I really want to read Still Alice, so think I'll get it from Kobo.
oooh its dark .. black skies
I don't understand that either Diane.
I think they have to have a licence/permit for each ebook ....
thats what my library said, diane
costs them money to get a permit
that's what I understood too, cos.
A favourite contemporary author is Joshilyn Jackson
I'm off to get myself into a jam, once again.... Be back later !
Oh that's right Cos, there are copyright laws for ebooks.
*Cos and Diane
makes sense yet i dont like it :)
You would if you were an author whose book was getting bootlegged all over the internet. : )
true!
unless ur an absolute unknown :)
Well then you bootleg your own. : D I've seen authors do that with a first book, to get recognition.
exactly. i should do that hmmmmm :)
*Stands in line for Cos's book*
too bad i cant publish a biography of dolores umbridge
No, you will have to stick to fan fiction for that. Unless you want Rowling to come after you. : )
diane, our library ebooks are limited to 8 copies of each at a time, when they are "loaned out" people wait.the method behind this madness is to get people who love the book to buy paper versions as well after the loan ends
hmm
their perfect vision is for us to still have 6000 purchaced paper books in our livingroom but also paid e-book copies of each on the ereader for travelling as well
i have always imagined a creepy house in a neighbor and the only resident in it is Old Lady Craven
and the title would be CRAVEN
i havent decided if shes misunderstood or if shes a witch
Sounds spooky Cos. : ) Maybe a misunderstood witch.
maybe it'd be a boarding house as well
and they rarely ever see old lady craven and when they do strange things happen so they decide to find out the truth
and the truth wiill set them on a journey beyond their dreams
hi all. I have many free books from Amazon on my kindle. I also get books from the library.
What are you doing here? Go write that. Great premise for a story.
the free books on amazon are ehhh.. i do have many of the classics i got for free
I have read some really good mysteries/thrillers for free.
thanks molly.. think ill start when i finish the grid
Peri what was the name of that book you told me about? I downloaded it but haven't read it yet. Shows you how much I use my ereader.
as do i peri.i just do not use amazon
I have a problem. My IPod is synched with a Mac and my Mac is so old I can't download from the library onto it
I will have to check my archives, brb
oh well..will be back later and chat perhaps...poink
hello babble friends. Tell me not to start.... to go to bed early.... too late!

oops, too many s's in that! :)
Thankies :)
I'm currently in the middle of a great trilogy, The Magdalene series, about the unknown history of women in the church. It's fiction, but based on a whole lot of facts.
Sounds cool Molly!
sounds good too. Must be a pain in the butt of Rome though... women are not so very much appreciated there.
ra6 the first please?
Congratulations Aussie. And I agree, there are a lot more important things than Babble. Good for you.
That is a whole lot of what it's about Sprite, the pain in the butt of Rome.
I will have to look out for that series Molly. Sounds intriguing.

Does keep one humble when one doesn't...
im struggling to find a to4/4 and to5/10 how sad is that
not that sad... I often have trouble with the small ones. Whipping up your monkeys will help :)
If it's any consolation, I was stuck on the first ar4/4...what an ar4/4 it made me feel when I found it!
for the to4/4 i know the first 3 letters. its the last one i dont know lol

stetae
Sorry. Obviously I don't know what I'm doing,
Hey everyone!!
Hey there, red.
I keep thinking this is the same grid as yesterdays. just flipped on the side.
and it is now time for crossys quoe of the day and todays quote is from calvin and hobbes!!
Calvin: People always make the mistake of thinking art is created for them. But really, art is a private language for sophisticates to congratulate themselves on their superiority to the rest of the world. As my artist’s statement explains, my work is utterly incomprehensible and is therefore full of deep significance.
Hi Cross how are you?
Canada has a Silver medal in the womens 8 rowing!
Back again...hi crossy, redt and carol!
hi jilly!
I think I am killing chat...
LOL, I though I had...

*knocks on screen* anyone alive out there?
*Waves at Jilly*
I am still here, took a moment to walk the dog.
Whew, thought the rapture had happened...lol..
silly Jilly.... we are still here ! Hi :-)
Hiya dd! Haven't been on with you for awhile...how are you?
I'm great ... I was here earlier when we were talking about books and authors....
That trilogy that Molly mentioned sounds very interesting. I'm going to look for them.
You know, know that you mention that, I do recall you being on with me earlier...was too engrossed in grid..now that I'm nearing the end I can be more observant...
which one?
you mentioned your ebook reader..
the kathleen McGowan books, starting with "The Expected One"
I've made supper and another batch of jam... now am relaxing and finishing my last 37 words.
Nearing the end. I just got half way. I want to stay up and watch the Olympics, but of course somehow I always managed to get spoilers, so ...
It's a race..I have 38....ready, set..GO!
I watched some of the dressage this afternoon... beautiful !
I shall cheer.
and award Babbler medals.
LOL.... no pressures !!
I would like to see the dressage. its volleyball now...and I don't like, but someone does.
:-) I know what you mean by "someone"
I can not wait, track and field tomorrow!
I don't rule the remote either ;-)
Just picked a few fresh strawberries here, looking forward to some on ice cream tonight.
still, all the people are interesting, I wonder ifPrime time TV could may secretarial work look fascinating...."And she goes in for the collating..."
yummm.... we just have raspberries.
You folks with fresh berries are lucky. I would love to grow them sometime.
Our plants were hit by a late frost but they started over and now we have just enough to enjoy fresh.
Admits to eating prunes tonight...nothing fresh in the home.
Where are you Molly?
Thank goodness I dried plums last year, that frost took our plums and apples..
(hoping those understand what dried plums are..LOL)
I think we do...
It's not where I am geographically. I live in a condo and don't have the space for berries. I'm on the ground floor so I use some space for other vegetables.
You can grow strawberries as a hanging plant molly.
And red, eating prunes makes me feel old..eating dried plums does not.. ;)
Well then, I might try that next year. Glad to hear Red has had her prunes. The mail will move regularly tomorrow. : P
As long as you have some bugs to pollinate etc. I tried to grow tomatos in an upside down hangar. they grew great, btu no bees or bugs because of screen...
I assumed Molly was growing outside since she has veggies...
well number 7...from Brasil is sure great looking...maybe volleyball is becoming more interesting.
Oooh I mis read, I thought Mols said, "I have space for veg. She USES space.
The volleyball players are hunks
I love men's swimming and diving....such lovely eye candy....
And my hubby likes diving so no conflict...
Cripes, totally monkeyed the second to6/7 combo..nice accident
hi all
Oh. Tropical storm. i really need to pay a bit more attention. its a hurricane?
Ouch red...
Hubby is away and I'm salivating over the Brazilian hunks
I'm catching up on BBT...
LOLOL Bichon.
nm..seen this one..back to the beautiful boys
Looks like we are getting a "tropical wave" and then the remnants of a TS ernesto...
You're on the eastern part of the country red, correct?
Heyas kids .. Heya jmc ..
Yes, I am in Florida, so we are supposed to be getting this kind of weather...but it still always catches me off guard, because I rarely watch weather...
Hi TORG!
hi there torgone
hi torgie
red you can have a weather alert on your computer. . .that is what i do
it is what I should do...
8
goooo jilly!
100!
10
Bich is an Olympics Lech. : P
had a visit with my son on the phone... sad news about one of our grandson's classmates :-(
Aw Diane.
Sorry Diane....
that's so hard
young man, just graduated in June... just turned 18 2 weeks ago, killed in a head on collision when his vehicle crossed the center line. They think he was texting..... SO SAD, because these kids know the dangers. They just think they are invincible.
And that's it for me...ve5/16 was my last..whew!
whoo hoo jilly!
It is also against the law here in Alberta to use cell phones, put on makeup, eat... etc. when behind the wheel.
way to go Jilly !
can I get a clue for the ve 5 please?
oh how sad diane. . .
We had a girl killed here last spring where that was what they thought...good friends with several of my youth ministry teens...we really talked about that danger...hopefully it stays with them
that is sad diane.
ve5 is the brand name of a motor scooter....
Very sad.... but maybe it will have a deeper impression on the young folks when it involves someone they knew... about the dangers
or add the first vowel to the end of the second ve4
Congrats, Jilly.
One can only hope Diane. What a senseless waste of a life.
ooooh thanks.
they can prove, or disprove.... texts are recorded and with a time stamp too.
Any distraction can be deadly ..
Many towns and cities here are banning and ticketing cell phone use while driving.
ours is an Alberta law.... called the "distracted driving" law .... big fines can be imposed
using a blue tooth is okay, but I still consider that a distraction.
bbs
I agree that using a hands free device is still a distraction.
and done !!
yaay diane!
Yay dd!
Yay Diane!
Congrats, diane!
astert
Even talking can be a distraction, especially in heavy traffic or tricky roads !
Thanks everyone.... and I just picked up on a name change earlier.... carolamaya is gapeach !!
I think she's trying to be Peach again, but it doesn't look like it's working.
clue for the in 8 please? I went to list..
To speak very clearly.
like chanting too
thanks...
when I am the cantor at church, I in 8/40 :-)
got it!
is peach's name change a Babble issue or a computer issue ?
I would hate to give up dianedecoder.... it's been my nick since I first started playing games on the computer, almost 10 years ago now.
Not sure what the problem with Peach's name is. Dr. God is trying to help her figure it out.
Okay... hope he's successful.
Funny how attached to a username you get. I had one on a board for a long time and no one ever called me by my given name, even when they met me in person. : )
I'm going to go watch some TV now, and we have a thunder storm going on.... I think I'll shut the computer off as the lightning seems very close ! Bye all, and have fun :-)
Bye Diane.
bye Molly
and gone ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
bye diane! congrats!
Be saft, diane.
safe - even.
evening all - new miss2bit pic in my profile
Oh, dan, she is beautiful.

Take as many pictures because before you know it you will be walking her down the aisle.

sa6/19...***casm, a form of humor + ***gone, our Babble buddy
oh.. I tried everything but that
thanks
That's humour for all you folks who insist on adding the extra U
Ru, I have decided that you are to get some sort of award if you are going to be brave enough to be the only dude at that Babble meet up. I haven't figured out what that is yet, though.
maybe some gift certificates for a shrink?
That's kind of along the lines of what I was thinking.
ruru just wants to be surrounded by all us beauties... *grin* and he won't be the only one. Some of us are bringing our fellows. Not me, but some of the others.
I'm not finding the second st 7 /28 either
Same first four as the other and spanish cheer plural without the E
got it
thanks again
<--- rapidly approaching smug
Strange words.
*Opens a beer for the smug hour*
hopefully not a full hour
Smug time. It's like hammer time, but you don't have to wear weird pants.

<smug
*wonders what wine goes with smug -- port?*
maybe brandy...
.. no root beer
mmmm. *puts ruru in PB and serves beer*
thanks for leading me on stid
thank you molly and tor for the clues.
any time, ole buddy ole pal
I am sure it's fishy, but help for the U in the lower right corner? my last blank.
I'm not very fa 4/7 at finishing grids. Many babblers are able to finish the puzzle fa 6/27 than I and they're able to finish li4/4less. For example, bichon, who lives on the ea 4/4 coast can usually find a va 4/7 amount of words in little or no time. Don't fa4/7 very well when it comes to babbling. I do not finish most grids. Most of the time I am not even in4/4 finishing grids. I am also a lo6/18. If somebody accidently posts their babble words into chog I take whatever words I can get! At times I get so lo 4/4 with clues given, that I just give up.Even though I'm not very good at finding words in the grid, I still have lo 4/4 of fun when I come to Babbleland.I love the way people ro4/4 for other people when they are close to the finish line. Husband, on the other hand, hates Babbleland. He thinks it totally ro 4/4! Husband believes that I come to the chog to lu 4/5 after other babblers. He also thinks I am looking for another su6/21 to sweep me off my feet He also thinks that it is not sa 4/7 for me attend babble meet-ups because I am meeting a bunch of strangers. I think he is so 4/4 of paranoid. Ra 4/4! My hubby wants computer. Husband is giving me this st5/10 look. If I do not give it to him, he will ra 4/4 and ra4/7 and re 6/18 that I hog the computer. I am going to get out of this se 4/4 and go watch Ar4/4 & Entertainment channel.I will not be back here anytime so 4/4. Ne 4/9 time I'll come here, will be tomorrow. I hope you have made no4/4 of my clues and found some more words.Goodbye for now!
Oh by the way, hello to all! Thought I'd enter with a splash
hello Min! welcome to the grid!
Thanks stidmama!
Min, lu4 after other Babblers? Ahahahahahaha!
That's what I say to my paranoid husband!
and thanks for the help, Min
yw
See ya'll tomorrow! *POOF*
rota
go rhozee go!
sweet dreams Min
another recipe in my Flickr :) Pictures show prep and finished product, set has full directions.
anyway... still can't see a U from the lower right corner... pretty please? with sugar and sprinkles on top?
Sorry, wrong place . Trying to watch the Olympics and babble at the same time.
bone, stid
ul4, and 3 5s off that
seain, you know when I see those creations I pack on the pounds without eating...
and thanks for the U words!
LOL stid
and good evening, stid and rhozee
Good evening indeed as the Americans won the rowing.
ah, a speaker in from that O :)
and I am down to 99. Going to go do something productive for a little bit. *micro-poof*
sculls, or other rowing event, rhozee?
Women's rowing 8.
women fighting? where?
nice, rhozee
or just getting in a line?
evening, ruru :)
hi DC
why does the Chat always stop when I enter?
Ooo, someone is all pouty and sensitive tonight.
...cranky too
I was driving all day
Blech, I would be cranky too.
i got distracted by an IM, sorry
i'm up too late, thirsty too.
hey, mlly.
was traffic bad, ruru?
yes.. a friggin parking lot all the way home
a normal hour and a half drive .. three hours
California driving, on such a summer's day....
Hey, hey, hey ruru cheer up! I'm here to give you a big (((hug)))
it's a full moon so all the bad drivers are out
I hate volvo drivers
especially in Marin
I do not miss the traffic in No California...
brutal today
brb, gonna clean up in kitchen from today's cooking, visible in my flickr with recipe in the set description.
I remember pulling into the toll bridge on the Bay bridge the first time...bout wet my pants....
i'm gonna go fix dinner
Saw your FB post DC...looked lovely!
why's that jilly?
Just finished a small bowl of ice cream with fresh strawberries from garden.
oh..*covers ears*
Well actually after I pulled through and saw the gazillion lanes merging back into 6....
oh.. that's nothing
just keep bearing left
all the bad drivers are in the right lanes
LOL...my cousin lived in Logn Beach and her definition of level of traffic was based upon movement. If you weren't moving, that was heavy traffic....
..if only everyone drove like me.. we wouldn't need car insurance
*Long
LA is nuts.
You mean with your eyes closed?
I haven't the faintest clue how ANYONE keeps an appointment in Los Angeles
Helicopter?
<---state farm killer
we were in traffic down there and only had to go five blocks and it took 45 minutes in traffic
auto-mass-murderer?
I actually saw a car that is uglier than a Volvo. Some new thing called The Cube. Awful looking thing.
The hardest transition in moving back to Montana was to return to discussion distances, not time for travel....
I actually like the Cube..LOL..maybe it's the cute rodents in the commercials...
the cubes are close to the ugliest car ever made
Called my brother-in-law in Guam tonight...we all are very concerned his wife is mentally unstable...FB posts getting more erratic..about voices speaking to her...*sigh*
It's not how ugly Volvos are .. and they are.. but it is how Volvo owners drive.. so self-entitled... etc
oh boy jilly
that sounds like a psychotic episode
Yep...
do they have kids?
He, like our oldest son, kinda married too quickly...didn't know her well
No ruru, she has two sons from a previous marriage; he didn't learn about them until after they were married
Sorry to hear that, Jilly. That is very hard for a family to deal with.
oh boy.
can he get help in guam with a hospital?
I hope I got across to him how serious this is and that she needed to get help NOW...very schitzophrenic behavior and thoughts
He's retired military so has full bennies
We all had wondered why she didn't come to the family reunion with him this time....
maybe that's a good thing jilly
I know someone who married into something like that, completely unaware. It was hard once the reality of things set in.
hugs, jilly
Then there was the difficulty of explaining FB to a noncomputer person
there are a lot of whackos on facebook.. who would know?
I may be one friend shorter tomorrow... *sardonic laugh*
Thanks harpjane! how are you? Nice day today wasn't it!
My mother was psychotic.. and was never institutionalized .. but that was the 50's and 60's
So sorry ruru...rough childhood I'm sure you are a good person to overcome that...
yeah.. I guess
It was rough having a knife at xmas dinner to protect myself.. ..
I feel bad for kids who have to grow up with stuff like that. It's very scary.
you know though molly it was just not as understood as today
My mom would be in jail for what she did to us
if it were in today's world
No, we always think it's not understood now, but 40 years ago it really was a stigma...
.. but then she'd get some decorating tips from Martha Stewart
Yep. Didn't make it any less scary though.
no.. it was plenty scary
I struggle with some things about my mom...she was so verbally abusive...I had the self esteem of a sea slug....
we had that too jilly
My poor brother never got passed it
past it
But nothing compared to being worried about one's life....
That's too bad about your brother ruru...
it can be just as bad jilly.. don't kid yourself
I find it very sad when childhood, which is supposed to be a happy and joyous time, gets slaughtered by the emotional illness of a parent.
bak
yep...
And both my hubby's and my fathers were exemplary daddys, we only learned lately that they were raised by physically abusive dads that beat their moms...
that's why I moved out at 16
Well,, my dad truly made up for it....
ewww jilly
He was wonderful
A man should never hit a woman..ever
It's hard to shake that kind of history. Some people (like Ru's brother) just can't do it.
I was 42 when he passed; I felt like I was an orphan even with my mom still alive, took some reflection and then I realized he really was the only parent that truly gave me love...
hmmm. but you were lucky to have him jilly.. you got at least that
Hi DC..sorry to have ignored your arrival!
allgood, i realized a deep conversation was going on after i announced :)
Sounds like your Dad was a blessing Jilly. Glad you had him in your life.
Oh, I know it...and I am thankful that I have a great relationship with both our boys...put into practice being like him
i think i'll go make some food for mrs ru..see you guys later
hast, ruru
bye ruru, thanks for sharing my thoughts..
Yes Molly, I know how blest I was...I still miss him so even after all these years...and my father in law as well...truly great men.
It's great to have a good man as a role model. So many women did not.
my mom still mourns for my father, who died 26 years ago.
It's difficult as one truly becomes one with your mate..I know with 31 years how hard it would be...
It's hard to deal with the loss of someone who took up so much room in your heart.
amen to that, molly (hi all)
Hi Gwen!
evening, Gwen
So, who's done with the grid...I can clue if needed
nearly halfway done . . .
I'm nowhere near done, i want 4 more so I'll have an even 100.
My mom's been widowed three times, and is married for the 4th. I don't know how she does it.
'i will forgo the obvious joke about arsenic, harpjane!
I don't know how she does it either, Harp.
it was a sad day the day they became able to determine arsenic as cause of death.
yeah, i've heard it, gwen....
LOL, mine has been smart enough to just have boyfriends...
When my mom got married to number 4, a few years back, she told the pastor, "oh just do the same ceremony you did last time! I always get married in this church, you know!"
I think some people just can't stand to be alone.
LOL harp
is in8 a compound word?
Just saw the greatest FB post "If marriage is a religious institutions....then atheists shouldn't be allowed to marry either"..
funny , jill
good one, jilly
No, but has a musical edge to it...
clue jane, sorry
marriage is a Civil right, that _may_ also be a religious rite.
(sorry, i'm a wee bit fired up on that topic right now)
i saw one the other day: Fox News Saved My Life! Then in the small print: I had been in a coma for six weeks, and someone came in my room and turned the TV to Fox News, and I had to get up to change the channel
My view is all should be able to marry legally, then let the churches rule on the rest..it is a RIGHT
yah i got the clue, still don't have the word and i agree seain
LOL...that is a great one too Gwen!
Besides, all those gay marriages are a windfall for the harpists of the world!
LOL...you would go there Jane....
LOL Jane
a few gay weddings would get our economy rolling again!
to say nothing of the gay divorce lawyers, chomping at the bit....
in8=in+2000#+I *** too much food
And taxes too...
got it
actually don't married couples pay less in the way of taxes>
ty jilly, got it!
no, just rich marrieds lol
Like the hetero sexuals have been tremendously successful with that marriage thing....
and such good role models....
K, half of Norway has been adding me on Google+ lately. What's with that.
Yeah, they do Harp. You get a better tax rate filing married/jointly than any other status.
i'm not the least interesting in getting married, but i see no reason to prevent others from being dumb to do it lol
like Zsa Zsa for example, she certainly helped shape MY family values!
You're just magnetic..ya' sure, ya' betcha!
seain you must have pissed off the other half....
Don't forget Elizabeth Taylor....
how many times was the Newt and the Rush married? uh, oh, someone got me started . . .
I've read there are a lot of kinks to be worked out on Google plus. Maybe that is one of them.
OH, it's okay now Gwen...Newt's catholic now!
he IS?
LOL Jane.
Yep, to meet needs of latest wife....wonder how THAT went through a marriage tribunal?
Speaking of Catholic, Jill, we know some twins in tomorrow's RRag
yeah but knowing him he could be jewish tomorrow . . .
WE do?
Money talks. The Vatican has a HUGE portfolio on Wall Street.
yup
every time Rush goes to a baseball game he becomes Buddhist -- he goes up to the hotdog vendor and says "make me one with everything" LOLOL
it's already on line
ahhh, I see...the Tredik boys! Such great teens!
ok i got me my 100 words, I'm going to go away!
nighty night jane
Heading out too, still gotta work tomorrow...not too early for once...*poof*
Just read your joke gwen..priceless..now really *poof*

flies can go to hell and shrivel up there in agony
oh, dear, having a bad day, cos?
just annoyed at this one fly who won't go away. been bothering me since 3pm and its 1040pm now. flyswatters dont seem to work
well you do have to pick the flyswatter up, cos
lol
ohh thats how you work it?
could try holding it your teeth, i suppose....would look kida strange, but.
good news is that flies only live 1 or 2 days, so it will be dead relatively soon anyway
* kinda *
too long for them IMO :)
see that, cos? another 24 hours and your agony will be over.
but then its baby will come bother me??
that's why i keep spiders on hand (i mean i don't kill 'em) so they do the dirty work of killing the flies
only for 48 hours...lol
the babies, if any, won't be hatching any time soon, if i recall what i learned about flies back in the stone age
gwen....and you don't look a day over 80.....well-preserved, aren't you?
lol.. well good then.. im getting tired of the fly landing on me and doing it's busness every 5 minutes
clean living and lots of boggle LOL
LOL
the problem is we don't have a/c and we have to oen the door and windows and the windows have a small hole in them. cheap ass landlord
maybe duct tape or something? adhesive foam rubber insulating tape?
(i also live in a not so great apt and have little strips of foam stuck on the edge of one window where it doesn't close all the way)
(but every once in a while a big bug finds its way in here anyway, EWWWWW)
thats a good idea
usually we get moths
I lived in a basement once where one window was painted 1/3 open at the top. I stuff it full of newsprint to keep warm in the Winter, as my front room was heated by a fierplace.
the brown little moths
had an interesting session in the hydro pool this AM. did 3 of my exercises wearing flippers.certainly did increase the underwater resistance.
aww no pics of rose in flppers?
yes, that would. More resistance is good your case, rose?
yes, dcs. have to build the quads up post-op.
75 to go, just started yawning . . .
75 in 5 mins.. go!
don't push it cos. the one in swimmers is bad enough. won't be posting that any time in the near future
um, nope!
:)
