I could not agree more, Rose...we complicate things to such an extend..that we get moody over the silly things in life.

There is a good side to living here, though....I get my groceries delivered (great in this heat) and I'm only 10 min. away from the hospital that saved my life last year. Also, everything I need is within walking distance...when it's not so hot.
When I start lamenting about the downside, I try to remind myself of the good points...makes it much easier to cope. Choose to concentrate on the better aspects most of the time. Just no point dwelling on the negative.

Once the balloon inflates then deflates, the wine is ready. 5). Strain with cheesecloth. ** It takes about 6 weeks. Keep at room temperature until wine is ready....

well, i had some wine but that was cooked in with the mussels so i'm having a vodka, slimline tonic,ice and lemon, same as on my birthday bash and i might need a few as the bairn is home for the weekend as she has a friend's birthday party tomorrow so her grandad said she might as well stop home and i had to take her for bra measuring today and clothes shopping which wasn't enjoyable and her boyfriend dumped her last night so in her words, she's 'sad' and her dad went away again today so i'm getting the brunt of everything!!
so, acxtually just give me a bottle of vodka and sod the gin :D

Frank is weaker than he would like to be, but actually not bad, considering
he is getting a little forgetful, though; I had to rescue something he forgot on the stove earlier this evening
he's going through chemo once a week and radiation 5 times a week. He was at the hospital last weekend for dehydration and arrhythmia of his heart. Today he was hydrated once again after his radiation. I hope he can get through the weekend.
Sounds very tough - for him and for all around him. Positive thoughts to you all.

my friend has crohns disease and they didn't pick up on it until her appendix were nearly bursting.well, i should say our gp didn't pick up on the crohns after several months of problems
for Frank the symptoms were masked by his celiac disease - he just figured he must have gotten some trace gluten somewhere
that has to be really rough on him sue as crohns disease is bad enough but having to deal with the side effects of all the chemo can't help with the crohns, so it's got to give him more problems bless him
but I figure his case can't be too bad, after 64 years he had 15 cm of damaged intestine, which they removed
I wish I could think better today. I'm trying to remember what helps Crohns disease. Right now all I can think of is what to stay away from. I had a neighbor who had Crohns and (back then, a hundred years ago it seems) I helped her work out a diet she could tolerate.
I don't know how someone deals with Crohn's and Celiac together. Talk about a limited diet.
from what I've read the Crohn;s diets are really individual, you just have to figure out what works and what doesn't, and we won't really be able to get a good start on that until the chemo wears off (that is, he gets the runs all the time anyway so hard to tell)

Some of that is to be expected with her brain injury; there are those who end up remembering bits and pieces later on

i do think at times she knew our voices as her face would change and our picu nurse who was brilliant and had been doing the job for 20 odd years told us that she'd know we were there and just chat about anything

For the most part, people are unaware of the pratfalls of posting things on a public domain. And Facebook is a public domain. It just recently came out that photos uploaded to Facebook from a cell phone can be GPS tracked, thereby giving someone the name and address of any child's picture that is posted there. Scary.

The only pictures of me on there are from my kids or friends from their accounts. I don't chat with people I don't know. And for people I do know, we go to the private site on there so it isn't visible for others to read.
One of the worst things you can do on Facebook is play games there. It opens you up to all kinds of security problems.

Nothing you send out via Facebook, email or your smart phone is "safe". There is a reason that Social Security will not deal with people via email. They know how easy it is for someone to gain access to a social security number.

They are just gathering names and email addys; so delete them from you page right away; don't respond or "like"

No, no one is immune. I read an article earlier that said the only way to bolster your protection against hacking and identity theft is to cut up your credit cards, encrypt your email and throw away your cell phone. Now how many people do you think will do that?

I work with a computer forensic guy and I have watched him take the tiniest details found on the internet and generate TONS of personal information about people.
i've seen true life programmes on tv molly and they have shown the same.it's great having computor technology in one way but very frightening in an other for alot of reasons
his job must be really interesting though and yours if you work with someon like that
Working with him has made me realize how gullible and naive most people are.
that's the problem molly, we are, because we haven't be told about certain things and plus there will always be people who won't or don't want to listen anyway.
Sites like Scam Busters are all fine and good, but they don't keep people from believing in fake posters like Nancy Boy or sharing their email address with someone they don't know who could be using it for less than wonderful purposes.

People take a big risk posting their email addresses in their profiles here. And people who respond to those email addresses take an even bigger risk.

They certainly have made it a more impersonal world. People don't write letters in their own handwriting anymore. People text instead of calling so you can hear their voice. It's all gotten very sterile.

My kids were always required to send a thank you note to anyone who sent them a gift. Now that they are adults, I have to constantly remind them to send some form of thank you. Gratitude is important.

Friends still give me stationery because I'm the only person they know who still writes letters.
When my youngest graduated, we sent graduation pictures to some of his former teachers that we have kept in contact with. That meant a lot to them.

i think it's great that people still write letters and i think we should promote writing instead of emails, atleast we know then that people can't hack your address

A lot of our history has been compiled from letters. I don't think that will be the case with emails. Most people delete them after a while. I have a box of letters between my Mom and Dad when they were dating. Priceless.

I wrote to my kindergarten teacher for years. When she died, her daughter found then and wrote a letter to my mother thanking her for my letters. She wanted my mother to know what I had done.
