well i didn't know that....you can plural sheeps noise.
the bathing suit most men shouldn't wear is a word???!
how are you all? i'm having a sort of pyjama day here. lol. have been doing chores, but stll in my jammies. that doesn't sound too good does it?
nan, it also a piece of equipment on a car dashboard, well over here anyway.
*!* ta da *!*
WTG NAN!!!!
yay nan!
ah - so the enable creator isn't japanese - he's an aussie who visits japan!
All done. The word that Lickety is missing is the last ba7.
Hi Rose--nothing wronge in being compy while doing chores--I do it myself
nan, could i please have that stats for the extra word?
WTG DACHEF!!!
ba 7/36 - it's a hound dog
interesting, granny -- Brit spelling , pyjama, US spelling, pajama. I remember calling them "pyjyes" in England...
ty dachef!
any other clues wanted before I crash?
and do you know what? that word isn't in the enable dictionary, but the grid accepts it. go figure!
hah! My instrument is in the grid! And I almost missed it!
thought you played a cello, melon
<-- tries to remember melon's instrument
oh yes, of course! got it.
cybernan, add "horn" and it's a clarinet like instrument Mozart used in a serenade.
funny - always thought you played a stringed instrument
:) or... ð„¢
I do I play a ba4. since you mentioned ba7, I just thought of the ba7 horn.
had my violin refurbished a month ago and discovered that after 50 years, I have to go back to square one -- definitely not like riding a bicycle!
do7/48
Can anyone clue the ba 7... all I have are 6's ...
also done here. nice grid. didn't list until 8 to go...think it might be a record for me, at least for a grid over 150.
oh, but how great you are doing it! DOn't worry, you'll get it. Are you working with a teacher?
wtg rose!
yay granny!
also do7/36, a homonym of do7/48.
dee, double consonant on the end
of hound dog
ty vm!!!
don't remember it being spelled that way
neither do4 the enable list, but the grid accepted it.
no - went and got some beginner studies - Kreutzer and Kayser a little beyond me at the moment
Most of all, nan, enjoy!
ty, rose... and btw, I LOVE jammy days :)
nan, recently found my grandfathers violin. unfortunately it need a bit of restoration, but the body is still sound, and unscratched
I will eventually -- a little frustrating at the moment
anybody fiddle with it granny?
let's see, i think it must be about 120 years old.
naughty ruru, lol
oh dear, ruru, fake jesse is back
sorry.. didn't mean to string you along
i'm sure i bowed you over
be careful, i might just grab the nearest neck, and squeeze
and Viola !
besides, it's gutless at the moment, and a little fretful
ha
but the shape is good.....
that's great, grose -- mine looks like it's been through the wars, but now that I've had a joint repaired, new pegs, bridge, strings and bow rehaired it sounds good.
halfway
i played violin as a kid
lovely nan
this one is a beautiful honey-caramel colour. i don't think i have ever seen one like it. they are usually darkish, are they not?
lost in the grid,I look up ,and here' ruru, getting into treble!
off to watch the news -- there is some serious flooding in Alberta, so will get an update. Niters :)
does the bow resinate nan?
any ps words?
yup - and the instrument resonates ;)
hi, all. Babble says I am missing a b7....lickety's says I am done. which is correct?
yes, dee, be quiet and i will whisper it to you
awww ty rose
babble - missing word is ba 7
angel, ba7, double consonant on hound dog
I'm all ears granny
Mediocrity restored. > halfway, nbt, nbs, and all ≥ 7s. nite all!
[poof]
don't trip over them ruru....or are your knuckle dragging today, as well?
ty, grannyrose. firworks.
not my knuckles
night, melon. have a good one, hun
WTG ANGEL!!!
try tying a knot in it, then? or do you need suspenders?
*blinks.. what are you talking about granny?*
FWs
not sure, ruru...maybe i'm having a grey moment and rambling on.lol
WTG DIZ!!!!
Hi all :)
hey ya liz
Hi there, Liz.
and hello peach....you lurker, you
HI Liz and peach
cooee pugs
Hey Rose--hugs--how are you and your brace wearing
Hey there, Rose.
Hi there puglet.
pugs, new brace is amazing. sleeping heaps betters, able to walk with no pain.
good news, granny!! Didn't know you needed a brace.
plus am trying to stick to a strict pain management program, involves only ibuprofen and paracetamol. seems to be working well.
hi puglet (been buried in the grid, wandering to kitchen, etc)
thats great Rose--so glad you are on the up hill on that now
jilli, when i fell i apparently tore the medial ligament. new knee was slip sliding sideways.
Hi Jill--hows the world been treating you
Glad that the new brace is helping, Rose and also that your ibuprofen / paracetamol regime is working. Hopefully this will all help get you back to full strength. No more falling though!
Sheesh, didn't know you fell, granny! How did that happen and when?
*giggle* i feel like a new woman, with a couple of UNINTERRUPTED night's sleep.
too much riesling jilli
or wrestling?
coooooeee!.. yes wrestling with don
jilli, my foot swkidded backwards on wet plastic film on carpets at work, about 4 weeks ago. went down on the right knee, then wrenched it sideways.
fw and off to bed, goodnight everyone
ruru -- don't like that icon -- reminder of bad times :-(
*flosey.. ms. in and out.. and get it done *
night Flosey
now, now you two....no wine or don involved...and it was the water which done it, officer.
Congrats flosey. Sleep well. :)
YAY flosey-the-silent! Sleep tight.
night, flosey, hope you slep well, hun
Jilli, is Beaumont Ab anywhere near the flooding?
oh and, WTG FLOSEY!!!
Don't know, Liz -- will look at a map. I've never been to Alberta.
NM - just wondered. Cousin lives there.
Liz, I just googled Beaumont and it's in the Edmonton reagion, north of Calgary where the terrible floods are.
Thanks. I'll email her later on - no point now as I guess it's pretty late there.
I just wondered how widespread the floods were or if they were confined to Calgary. That's bad enough though!
There is some flooding throughout the province. Camrose is close to Edmonton and I heard of problems there. Red Deer was put on alert. Calgary is where the army has been sent to help out. Saw them on the road today.
Thanks for that Speedie :)
No problem. All done. Have a good night!
t
Sleep well.
thanks for the update and congrats and goodnight, speedie-lurker!
Hi Everyone

Didn't know you could plural the follically challenged :)
The only rule of babble - try every possible combination
night, jilli, pugs. hope you both rest well tonight.
chrissie, there is also a plural of sheep sound
ty rose
Down to 40, off to start the day, tc rose
hope your day is good to you, chrissie. xoxox
May I please have a clue for oa5-10? thanks
peach, a weird plural, oa + *w*et*, candy
or, oa*i*, fertile desert spot, change the 3rd vowel
Oh, thanks, hon. It was *driving me bonkers.
np's peach. can't have a friend running around bonkers...can never tell what may happen. lol
HAHAHAHAHAHA1
*giggle*
sorry, peach. had to go pottie...and refresh the drink....
I know what you mean.
how are you going with the grid? may i help?
ab6-24 the 3rd please....thanks.
do you mean ab6, away, not in attendence?
OMG, I can't believe I couldn't see that.....thanks so much. only one left
plural it, hun
re6-18 please.....thanks
do you mean to trade again?
or to sell again?
Oh, my dear, thanks so much.
I think this bronchitis is dragging my energy out....have been on meds for a week but still have it. I have COPD bronchitis and sometimes it is, well, you know.
WTG PEACH!!! I SO UNDERSTAND. WHEN THE FIBROMYALGIA STARTS PLAYING UP, I JUST ABOUT FALL INTO PIECES. MY BRAIN IS SOOO SCRAMBLED.
oh dear...sorry for shouting...left the caps lock on, lol
I have a friend that has fibromy.... she battles it most of the time. I know you have been through so much...I really admire you and the way you've handled it.
thanx peach...there aren't many who understand FM. i have had to educate my GP, even. fortunately, or not, (it depends on how you view it), there are a few at work who suffer from it. we support each other, and encourage each other to just keep battling on. and it is a battle, hun. just as you are battling.
I do believe we are here, at this time, for reasons we may not understand, but we will, later on. And helping each other is one of the most important things we can do for others.
Well, dear one, I think I'll get ready for bed....it's almost 4:00AM here. Thanks again for bailing me out. Bless you.
;) yes, dearest peach, so true. sleep well, hun, and may you awake refreshed
bbl...have a crossword to finish, need to google. ;)
hello everyone
foffle, hello
how's the crossword going?
morning everyone
morning Anita
foffle finished...it was a general knowledge crossword, hence the need to google to find the last few answers.
cooee anita
well done grannyrose
you know, foffle..it's incredible how much we remember! like the words in babble.
also incredible how much we forget!
lol...yeah that too
lol
be back in about 30 minutes, happy babbling foffle.
thanks grannyrose see you later
Could I get a clue for be7, please?
be + throw around, scatter
or, be + snake letter + scottish trousers
wb grannyrose
Thanks granny, got both the 7 and the 8
thanx foffle, body and hair now clean....such a nice feeling
well done, marc
yes it is = all shiny and new
lol, not sure about the new bit....shiny definitely...
shiny is good enough lol
morning babblers
morning pippingeek
looks like everyone is deep in the grid
I think they are it's a bit of a marathon
any clues for ba6?
oh dear, i suppose i must have picked a tough one
foffle, plural sound of sheep
or ba6, hound dog
not particularly tough - but unlike most babblers I don't like the bigger grids
aaah thanks for that
and pipping, not so tough...this old grey mare made it to 160 odd before she listed
helo. Is anyone here? I need a big hug
nice. it's been a few weeks since i tackled any grid, i've been busy!
(((ruby)))
{{{{{{HUG}}}}}}}
hi pippin geek
{{rosie}}
what's he done now?
hi ruby
talk if you need, we love you regardless
hi foffie
no, he hasn't changed, it's just the fisc and the paperwork. I a drowning
there, sweetheart...3 pair of ears to listen, and lots of shoulders to choose from.
it was the first ba5 I needed
awww, hun. please don't despair.
ba6 I mean
oh, the sheep one then..
if not for the garden and the dogs, I would be in the slough of despond or is it despair
that's ba4 isn't it?
just saw a cartoon this morning, a pharmacy with a sign for "free antidepressants"
hun...ruby....just pick a little part of fisc, work on it, then put the wretched thing away for an hour...then try another little bit. take tiny steps, dear. then the journey isn't so hard.
and the image is someone at the counter being handed a puppy
yes, foffle. i didn't know one could plural it. not ba4, the evil god, but ba4, the sounds a sheep makes
that is so sweet and so true pippin. At lunch in the loal resto there were 4 dogs (not mine), a coton de tulear a bichon, a Malinois and a beautiful whippet
pipping, so true, even in jest.
doggles are sweet, even if my kitty is not a fan
then again, she's not a fan of other cats either
one more for nbt, the bottom right o?
nm
it's like i can never find a word until after i ask for it!
yay pipping, nice job
I would love to have a cat too, as I thin the dogs would love it, but husbad would insist on having it de-clawed and I find tht barbaric!
they make rubber claw covers that the vet can put on
notice the missing letters -- still not used to this weird keyboard
how are you feeling, rosie
good morning everyone ((ruby)) here in Canada, ruby, the vets no longer de-claw exept for medical emergencies
ruby??? if you kept the claws trimmed, there would be no need to de-claw a cat.
oh we've just all learned that DH is a jerk? lol
morning crossy
good morning crossy
pippen,foffle;))
ruby. the new splint is great. plus the new pain management. am sleeping most of the night now. wking only briefly to take next lot of pain meds. no pain at all when walking.
mornin' crossy
howdy,granny:))
wonderful to hear granny
one of these days crossy will come and sort out DH
that i good news, rosie, losing sleep is the worst!
who is DH?
glad to hear granny.i felt your knee all the way over here when you described slipping on that floor and landing on it directly
absolutely, ruby. and thanx pipping. after so many months, to be sleeping all night, it's just amazing.
my "beloved" husband
crossy, i also tore the medial ligament, hence the splint 24/7 for 4 weeks.
oh thanks. was wondering who crossy was going to sort out
lol, ruby.i envision your DH as a squacking 130 pound old rooster who needs a few feathers plucked.i bet i could toss him over my shoulder like a sack of flour and walk him out to your yard and dump him into your fish pond to put some sense into him.then i would dry him off and we could go to the local pub and hoist a few
crossy is a big guy and my husband is uch smaller but I fear it may be too late to make any changes in any direction
DH = "dear husband", often used sarcastically
hi, everyone..my grandson was playing basketball and fell and broke his foot.. they called it dancer's fracture..8 week to heal
ouch,poor kid:((
sorry to hear, annie
{{annie]] THAT IS POOPY NE****
what a way to start the summer, ouch ouch is right
there is a fly in here and it keeps landing on me. why is my cat not in a hunting mood when i want her to be?
lol

cute, ruby
sp6, please?
yayyy
awww, annie, not good...but kids do bounce back quickly.
marc, add a vowel to rate of progress
i once saw my friend's weimaraner pluck a female cardinal out of a pear tree. poor birdy didn't make it.

mostly topless and often fat
shouldn't be topless
oh...so i would 'fit' right in?
no, rosie, we would love you regardless!!!!!
I could go topless, and nobody would notice
same here ruby.ever since the topless law came into effect, the only ones who avail themselves of it are old, overweight biker gals who you would gladly offer 5 dollers if they would put thier top back on
lol...not too sure, ruby....then again, himself probably wouldn't be too interested in something he sees all the time.
i'll take that 5 bucks, thank-you kind sir...lol
it's like the nude beaches in nyc -- nothing there anyone wants to see
lol.never now you rode a motorcycle and were in a club, granny:)
we once did a charter and an invited "friend" (wife of B.s friend, proceeded to take off her bikin i top. I told her, in no uncertain ters, that as it was our charter and I set the rules, she had no business embarrassing y husbad
good on you, ruby.
I can be a very nasty bi***!
i cannot believe our little ruby can be like that!
Third column E stats please?
ea** on down the road

ty pippin
you'd be surprised, crossy. When I was working, and a potential Customer would say I'd buy if you'd ****, I'd say "you're not that big a Customer!"

today i am getting a perm for my tr5es
first time in over a decade, and i am excited
be 8/70
mlf, plural be7, be + throws around, scatters
you will be gorgeous, pippin!
and a 7/52 goes with that
ty, rosie, great clues
dont have be7
thanks ruby, i always wanted to be a curly girl
got it thanks granny
nbt and nbs
except now that nobody does perms anymore i have to go to a really nice salon to do it and it will be spensive
today we are having a treat.my brother does jaunts to Costa Rica and he sent me some of their amazing mountain grown single plantation coffee;)) first time i have had the perkulator out in 6 months.one neighbour down the hall just knocked at my door to ask what coffee i was using:))
nice, crossy. if i drank coffee i'm sure i would be envious
i normally do not,but i cross over to the dark side for this coffee
yummy, crossy. nothing like the aroma of freshly brewed coffee
and thank you for inspiring me to find the br4 and 5
my hair is thin, salt and Pepper and curly, if I let it. But mostly just neat and barely enhancing my tiny head
well,ty for being inspired so i could find it also;))
Sounds great crossy. I'm luxuriating in Colombian coffeejust now. A present from my daughter-in-law's mum
would love that doffiee!
een spelt that say
i've been growing mine out, it is down to my chin (from super short a year ago) and just lank and sad and not flattering, so curls will be fabulous
hah. if only pabst was a valid word
it is amazing, ruby.not blended with other plantations so you can actually taste the essances particular to that plantation like bananas grown on the same acreage etc and so smooth.my brother says when they ship overseas we get the "seconds"
I remember Pabst from my youth in NY
ahh water-beer;))
as teens,we used to have contests to see how many american beers we could drink.the stuff was dirt cheap so what the heck
the only beers I really like are the very dark monk-brewed beers in Belgium
now thats the stuff,ruby
drunk at room temp
thick enough to stand a spoon up in
exactly
no not room temperature!
and roughly 26% alc/vol lol
they're served chilled in Belgium
delicious
when I used to go to Brussels on biz, one time, one of my colleagues there, bought about q dozen different bottles for me to take home to my so -- had to buy an additionaly suitacse
those monks are not quiet because of the vows, they are quiet because they are so hammered they do not trust themselves to speak
(pls forgive the bad typing)
I lived in Brugge for ten years
if you forgive mine:)
hahahah about the Trappistes!
Brugges is so beautfil! o you have a collection of lace?
I loved the cloistered places for widows and spinsters
no I don't. that's for the tourists. I was once asked when Brugge closed (like it was a theme park!)
i don't like the dark ones, but give me a Flemish red and I will be ecstatic
i love a good sour beer
when I travelled to Belgium a lot, i used to go to the flea markets and found some wonderful stuff
oh yes ruby - that's a nice area
I collect lace, American and other, and have the daughter of an Irish friend who will inherit all of my lace (boxes and boxes). I've already given hr soe
have to go for a while - back later. Happy babbling all
I imported Belgian glass to th US, especially low-e to Pella
bye foffie
bye foffle
I find it fascinating to watch lace made.
bye for now
tomorrow foffle, also on my way. nearly 10pm, and i can hear the siren call of my pillow.

see you later, iids
100 words!
tadone!! finito!!
good morning all
cibgrats dawger
Good morning, Babble buddies.
hello scrabs
I see that you just got here too.
just getting started with the morning
I dozed in bed after waking up earlier than I wanted.
nice way to start the morning
Morning, everyone! Hey, I'm finally getting the hang of how to get more words. Let the monkeys enter everything and anything and, lo and behold, they are actually words!
Hi Mimi. Yes, type in all combos of letters.
i was always "embarrassed" to have all the non-words from monkeying then realized that only i could see it - now keep monkeying all the time
Hey, Scrab and teach...in case you didn't see it earlier, I finally got a job! Doing radiology transcription at home, which is what I've done for most of the past 30 years.
Yay! Working from home is great, and a paycheck is even better!
glad you got the job and that it is something that you like to do
Doing that part-time along with my retirement income (first check comes next month) will finally give me much needed finances. It has been a long, stressful time.
neat to be able to work from home - saves all inds of costs and hassle
i'm sure that was stressful for you
Actually, teach, I don't really like transcribing but I am very good at it and it pays well. The only problem is that the main dr. I'll be transcribing is the worst I've ever heard in 30 years! The owner of the service actually asked me to listen to this dr. first before agreeing to take the job....she warned me. But I don't have much choice and will simply look at it as a challenge!
please could someone clue the 8
rens
It's especially good to work at home for me since I have no car and must take public transportation. That is extremely difficult this time of year in Phoenix. Walking to the bus stop in this heat and waiting for it are just too much, especially after my heart attack last year. I'm totally drenched after 5 minutes in 106 degree heat.
sorry
That doc should know to speak clearly so that the proper words are typed. That is so crucial medicolegally.
sorry - just starting - no 8
No 7's or 8 for me yet
nevermind I'll keep trying
pl of be7, be + st5/18
You would think so, Scrab. This group of doctors has already gone through 3 other services. Those services simply said they didn't want the business because this woman isn't worth it. They've tried talking to her but I guess to no avail. Makes no sense to me. I think the service I'm going to work for should charge them double to do her.
But that doc must have to do corrections which are time-consuming, thus she should learn to speak clearly and slowly
TY, pablo.
hi kids! does she have an accent? does she have a speech impediment? or just mumbles and needs to take allocution lessons?
Gracias, Pablo!
Hi Bea
Bea, you are in the grid today. *Passes Bea the Babble tiara*
thnx pablo - gave me lots of words there
yvw! There's quite a few in there....
She dictates so fast she's like an alien doctor! Apparently, she converses that way, too. No, dawg, she's American with no accent I can discern yet...just talks like a chipmunk!
<-------- Will wear the tiara proudly
perhaps a note attached to her transcriptions...Dear Cindy Chipmunk, Please speak slower, and clearly, your transcriptions are a bear to listen to.
If I could work directly with her I could talk to her and probably get her to modify her style. But I won't be able to speak with her at all...just the owner of the service can do that. I much prefer working side-by-side with the doctors but gotta take what I can get these days.
Yay, dawg, good note.
It's just another one of those things in life that makes no sense....as I get older, I'm finding many of those. If only Babblers ruled the world!
One of the worst things for me to endure in life is being confused. Anyone else hate that as much as I do?
hello...help with the sp6, please?
True, Mimi
Is that the swim suit brand, phae?
a type of swim wear, phae
lol...thanks Bzzz
Hey, it's accepted!

enjoying gorgeous weather
fantastic, doren... wake up every morning thankful to live in the best place on earth ; )
I'm doing a benefit tonight for the Michael J Fox Foundation
anyway - I will be back later - hubby has just put Dark Shadows on and I want to see it
today is lovely here too. but days llike this are just too rare lately. our spring alternated between rainy (very rainy), cold (very cold - sweaters an socks) and incredibly hot.
I am having a picnic on the beach with a cute guy and watching the super moon... mine trumps yours, ru
what is your part ruru? comedy routine???
nu uh kje
oh, kj that sounds reaaaly nice. enjoy
I am at a standstill with 11 to go
I get to meet Johhny Depp and Emilio Estevez and Holly LOcklear :D
and Holly is still cute
I get to spend the evening with a great guy... who cares about celebs ; )
<-------jealous of you both (but I don't even know who holly locklear is)
I think he means Heather Locklear
that's really good news kje.. where'd ja meet him?
does he mean heather locklear?
<--- Also jealous.. I am a Huge Michael J Fox fan
yeah her
i don't even know who SHE is. where have i been?
<---don't know my celebs
I"m one of the guest sommeliers
that is not necessarily a bad thing Ruru
any tw?
( the not knowing)
I figured that, but I still think you should do a comedy routine
Crue no longer rules for Heather
did she date a motley?
She was married to Tommy Lee
i'm down to 9.. but have no idea on the rest
oh my god.. really?
he's totally weird
<---spoken by one who knows

and blind
and how do you know this ru?
ooooo - 6
a friend of mine is a studio musician in LA.. and knows him
<--asked by one who knows nothing about him.. even who he is
He's a drummer, that explains most of it.
any trips coming up, doren?
yeah NYC to meet me :D
Montreal next friday
she's met you... once wasn't enough?
ROFL
haha kj. once is never enough
maybe for you kje :D
<---doesn't go to coffee houses alone any more
so i'm going to the montreal jazz festival after school's out. something i've wanted to do for a while, but have a bit of trepidation
ugh! must list with 6 to go... no time to sit here all day staring at this thing!
fantastci doren!!! would love that!
yeah.. you gotta sit on a beach :D
the radio station runs a group that goes each year, and I impulsively signed up. not sure i like group things, and am not going with any friends. so it's a bit of a gamble
lots to do before then!
i'd rather be at a beach with a cute guy seeing the supermoon
enjoy kj
it will be great... that kind of thing is what you make it
*hopes he feeds kje strawberries*
you're right about that. hope i can make it what i'd like
I hate strawberries

don't want to cause a deep depression ru, but I have to go now too. bbl. happy babbles
aw..bye doren.. have fun ending school soon
morning
hi..welki.. are things calming down up there yet?
no, not yet - still a state of emergency
the downtown is still submerged, still a dozen or more areas of mandatory evacuation - lots of the same in outlying communities. and the flooding is now expected to start in southern alberta
the downtown is still submerged, still a dozen or more areas of mandatory evacuation - lots of the same in outlying communities. and the flooding is now expected to start in southern alberta
sorry for the repeat
that's where you are isn't it southern alberta?
good morning, welki :-) ruru :-)
yes - but the more southerly regions are bracing for flooding now
hehehe -- there's south central, south and really south :)
and north central.... that's me :-)
heard edm is now on flood warning
yes... but different river system but still a warning.
south saskatchewan, right? same one that's threatening lethbridge, medicine hat and drumheller?
why are you getting so much rain?
Son and family were fine... just a power outage for a few hours but so many friends in an upheaval.... the cleanup is going to take months.
it's a combination of a huge rotating weather system and normal ice melt from the mountains
We're on the north Saskatchewan
down to 7.. i think i need to list
it showed it as a vicious circle on the weather maps...not moving anywhere. Are you seeing the sun this morning, welki ?
yes, it's sunny here - looking outside the window, you'd never suspect what's happened
ba 7? pls
nm
I have one.... the dog with the droopy eyes and face..... Fred in the cartoons
Forgot that it can be spelled with a double consonant at the end. ty
I never knew that either.... :-)
nor did the dictionary
...but it's a furniture manufacturer in Virginia LOL
hello all
Hello, Temple Owl
hi diane
hello
I never know whether I am coming on an hour or two after the last chog entry or not
are you still here, bichon?
Hi Ruby
hello Molly
I saw a mosaic garden bench the other day and thought of you. : )
What colors was it and id it have a theme?
Blues and earth tones. It had a sundial on it.
Nice
I would love to have a sundial in the middle of the flower bed, especially since I don't wear a watch
sounds lovely molly and hi to you and ruby:)
I think sundials look pretty in a garden.
Hi L
Hello Lilliann
i have 2 female peacocks sitting on my shed roof at the moment :D
they must have come from the local farm as i know they have peococks there
how lovely (and I get ecited when I see tiny birds....)
excited*
i got a shock when i looked out of the kitchen window ruby because i didn't have a clue what they were to start with has all i can see is their back end until they move their heads
What a nice surprise, L
they had peacocks where we loved before as it was an island and they could go free. My first dog used to chase them onto the roofs.
Freudian slip?
i've taken some pictures on my phone to show the bairn tomorrow.i keep looking out to see if they're still there
*until she has to clean the crap off the roof*
it was molly
some résidents actually complained, if you can imagine, because of the squawking
peacocks are messy birds
i won't be cleaning any crap off as i can't get into my back garden, that'll the bairn's job:D
but beautiful
that's a shame ruby.saying that we can sometimes hear them when they are on the farm so it must be noisy for the people who live next to the farm
the males are beautiful but the females are boring brown but pretty coloured heads
my husband feeds many birds and most of them just squawk and chirp, only the merles, the drabbest of them a, have lovely voices
I used to like the adolescent one, iridescent blues and greens but no showy tailss
ones*
i've just looked and they have gone into a neighbour's garden and luckily no crap ru
I feed the birds too. I get chickadees, cardinals and an occasional blue jay.
Howdy, neighbors!
Hi Judi
we have loads of collared doves and they coo at 4am, normally outside my bedroom window as they like to sit on the sky dish
hi judi
I like humming birds
Oh, L reminded me of the mourning doves. Man, they are dumb birds.
i feed the birds too and always make sure there are plenty of fat balls for them in the winter
Our cat likes to eat the birds. *sigh*
the birds are all different from American ones here, except for the sparrows. We have red tails, red throats, 3 kinds of mesonges, merles, verdier (a sort of chartreuse finch) and the occasional fany bird like hawks, red-throated pigeons, woodpeckers and somethings called a Geai which is multi-colored and about the size of a chicken
fany*
good thing Mourning doves don't play babble :D
I have woodpeckers in the woods out back. I never see them though, just hear them.
mine likes to chase them judi and occasionally gets one or two. we have blue tits nesting in a bird box and it's lovely seeing them take food in and out for their chicks.i hope our cat doesn't get them when they start to fledge
we tried putting up suet balls on a metal thingie, but I watched two crows carry the whole thing away
Are you sure about that Ru? : D
I can hear a cuckoo and an owl at night, but never see them
Our cat has easy pickins. Our neighbors have a birdfeeder that is fairly close to the ground. The cat hides in a nearby shady wood pile, then pounces at will.
i put mine in my hedge so the little birds can get them as we have horrible rook type birds and they are huge and nick any food you put out, we also have alot of magpies
bird sushi
it's a shame you don't get to see the woodpeckers molly
although I've seen magpies around here and in neighboring villages, we've never had one in our garden
magpies are smart birds
We have lots of warblers this time of year. The songs are just amazing. Here's a cool website for you birders: www.birdjam.com.
our hedges and shrubs are full of nests
we have black birds, sparrows and starlings nesting in our 2 fir trees judi and our cat sits underneath them
magpies are thieves and killers
I knew about the st***ing but not about killing
are your blackbirds all black or do they have colorful shoulders?
they eat other birds eggs
no warblers here
they get red shoulders during breeding time here
I didn't know that
it's no yolk ruby
the males are black and the females are all brown.i've never noticed any other colour on the male ones ruby
the yolk's on me
ty for the st word ruby:)
ty judi, have written it down and look later
so they're like our merles. American blackbirds have colorful shoulders
I found a dead bird on my patio once. I suspect the mangy cat who roams the neighborhood.
it could have been Alfred Hitchcock Molly...
we find dead and stunned birds, usually the green ones, who crash into the window. Yesterday, I rescued one from the living room but had to grab it by the foot because Rufie was after it
: O I never thought of that.
our black birds don't sit still long enough to have a good look at their colouring
*note to self.. don't call Molly "Tippy" ever
I keep a bird guide by the window near the feeder
Birjam is fun, lilliann. You can download their apps and make ringtones out of bird songs. Also lots of pics and info about birds on the site.
we also have birds nesting in the eaves and sometimes we find a dead chick on the patio because they've fallen out of the nest:(
there is a nasty Fr word in here, salo4
what does it mean ruby
i might have to download some ring tones for my father in law as he loves birds and he's like you ruby, he has a bird book near his kitchen window, he also like to drive to picnic areas around here and bird watch with his binoculars(the winged variety ru) :D
it's similar to the c word, but a little less nasty
atleast you rescued it ruby, what is the green bird?
it looks like a finch, charteuse with a pale violet beak but I couldn't find a green finch in google
it is a verdier
the only big bird I've rescued was the hawk that flew into the living room
I thought that word meant bitch
S'okay, Molly. If the birds start to attack, just head for the nearest phone booth. ... Oh wait...
oh and the woodpecker that got stuck in the garage
I think it's a little stronger than that, but maybe not. I don't know anybody who uses it, though
Eh, my French is not that great. I thought fils de salope meant son of a bitch.
hahah, never heard that expression
that reminds me ruby, i must phone my parents,i don't know why a swear word would remind me, i think it's the french thing :)
<---Will go to the PB for using French swear word
My lady friends must be very refined.
it sounds like lilliann is another bad girl!
i only know 2 swear words in french:)
there are some funny and colorful local expressions, however, like "drinks like a pig" which generally comes with a slurping imitation
what's the oter one, LA?
i'm not repeating them in here as i'm too much a lady:D
*says three "hail Marys"*
just the first letter, like giving the stats
that's not really swearing molly, so we'll let you off :)
me is one and en is a two worded one ruby
Go ahead, lilliann. It's okay if it's only for educational purposes.
If I have to swear at somebody here, I do it in English
well it's 2 words in english the en one
They use me in subtitles, substituting it for much worse words
sort of an all-purpose bad word
merde is one and encoulez is the other.encoulez is not nice though(FO in english)
hmmm, running through all my en words
ty, LA, I will add that to my lexicon
the one I like best is espece de cochon
i know the pig bit but not the start ruby
and, early on, when I was Young and cute and would get followed, I learned to say "Fiche-moi le camp" (at least it sounds ike that or "fiche moi le paix"
it's just "type of"
Translations, please?
phone to parents:)
they're like FO but startling to hear, evidently, as they always worked. Basically "Get lost\'
but more rude
got to go get ready for my day.. I have a lot to do.. have fun all.
bye ru
good night everybody
Vowels done. Geesh.
Anyone have a clue for the sp6/24?
Mens bathing suit
Ty. And thanks for that scarey mental image.
Actually, it's a brand name, I think.
yup and they make them for women too, and girls. (bought one for my granddaughter)
Not the best look on men Judi, I agree.
I have an se4 and a to4 remaining. I feel dumb.
Ah, the monkies come through. Fireworks!

poor kitty, poor Hursh
so i went to michael's, you know that craft store?
yup
and i'm checking out and the cashier says, "can i have your email address?" and i'm like, "um... no?"
done that too
i mean i got in my car, used my gasoline, came to your store, walked around to find the things i wanted, like, the one thing i don't have to do is give you my email address. that is the beauty of the Store.
right
chutzpah even to ask
I think they have to.
I just refuse.
i know, i mean the store, not the person.
Yeah, it isn't the cashier's fault. She was just doing her job.
agree
And generally it is a benefit to the customer. i.e. emailed coupons, etc
I always say no, tho.
And the cashier's ability to retain her job may be based, in part, on how many email addresses she collects from customers.
don't get me started about Michael's, They refused to take back unopened items with receipt because I would not hand over my license. I don't patronize them any more
really??
that makes no se 5 to me.
yeah they make me wary.
i just found be7/52 on a wild guess.
I thought this grid was pretty easy. Mostly real words.
oh, i can pl it for the 8!
yay
thanks hursh

Maybe I'm just a freak Molls :)
And finished....
Favourite song of all time is Willie Nelson, "There you are" but have never been able to buy a copy
sorry, hubby was on phone
Yay!wtg chrissie!! :)
Chrissie if you want to be a freak around here you need to get in line. : D
ty lilli, you finished?
congrats!
lol
ty pen
i liked all the finalists chrissie.i thought mike might win because we don't have a british country singer but we do have alot of people who like country music, me included. i have an eclectic mix of music
no 77 left chrissie, but i can now knuckle down :)
Going to watch Casualty now with a large brandy and come. Happy babbling all x
*Imagines L in overalls and a cowboy hat*
Brandy and coke...
*Erases thoughts from dirty mind*
Please pretend I never made that typo
bye chrissie, so glad you changed it to coke:)
lmao :)
bye and tc chrissie
Best typo ever goes to ChrissieDee
...leave 'em laughing, even if unintentionally...
lolol...
It's right up there with Peri's "he was hard" typo about her former boyfriend.
molly, alot of people like country music in this country and we have alot line dancer groups
definitely add that to the babble bloopers chrissie :D
*Imagines L boot scootin' *
i'd look good in dungarees, cowboy hat and boots, not sure wheelchair line dancing will take off though??
Just finished reading Berenstain Bears to my 3 y.o. grandson. Need adult entertainment. This should fit the bill
lol molly
<---Has been known to belt Van Zant's "Goes Down Easy" when drinking
definitely adult entertainment bichon :D
lol molly, aslong as it's just swallowing oysters:)
i'm taking my dirty mind off to lurkdom to try and find some more words
Wheelchair line dancing...I can see it. Swivel right, swivel left, spin around, clap. Up two, back two, shake your head, clap.
i'd get dizzy doing that,i'd just sit on the side lines doing wheelies
i am dizzy just reading about it... :o|
but i think that could take off molly
:) pen
Apparently it already has. Google it.
cat needs me and then i'm definitely off to lurkdom for a bit
some of them are brilliant and it great time but i can't turn quickly as i get dizzy, but i am good at wheelies but i don't do them often because of my fingers and head
oh boy.. missed a good one.. way to go Chrissie :D
hi ru..
probably a good thing you weren't there ru.god knows what you would have said(i was going to say come up with but i thought better of it) :)
it would have been a doozy
lol...
I kind of stiffened when I read that though
in shock :D
*not going there*...
mmm, i'm going to make myself some food as i'm starving and having to think of what i say here :D bbiab
I always thought it was EJ Gallo Brandy..little did I know.
Puts a whole new spin on "Want to go to my place for a brandy?"
lol...
I wonder what kind of "tologists" we are being now.
:D
he'll come up with something
maybe we should be committed to a religious order or semenary
That was considered when I was in Catholic school, but no one would take me. : )
ooouuuu...
I think Pen just had some brandy.
(got penquis)
okay..I'm off to do the event..
Have fun sommeliering
I hope I don't call Heather Holly
Call her Locksy
i am actually eating seafood chowder....
am back with baked beans and scrambled eggs :0
*thinking my chowder is better*
what event ru?
What a coincidence. I just put a pan of baked beans in the oven.
i only like certain seafood pen , so i'm preferring mine :)
I think he's gone. He is a guest sommelier at an highbrow event.
hey babblers!
beans in the oven moll;y?
hi pip :)
Pip is here. Time to break out the tequila.
Yes L. Generally you "bake" baked beans in the oven. : D
ooohhh, lovely,he can be a sommelier at my house too as long as i don't have to pay for the wine :D
actually i might go with wine.
i take them out of a tin and out them in a bowl and microwave them molly, sometimes re-heat them in a pan
tho the doctor did give me a bottle of ouzo this week. but i'm a little scared of it
hi lilli and milly
ack, i mean molly
You should be scared of it.
(the i and the o are right next to one another, you know)
lol pip, i'm loving milly :D
we could have a programme molly, the 2 that disagree lilly and milly :)
why would your doctor give you ouzo pip?i can understand tablets but alcohol and a very strong one at that
i am starving, and i have salad in the fridge, but just want to eat potato chips
hah, lilli, i mean the doctor i assist at work. a patient gave him 2 bottles, he gave me one
oh,lol, well a glass or 2 will definitely get you dancing and doing the hip hop :)
i may be young, but i'm far more likely to do the lindy hop than the hip hop
lol, i was going to say it'll help you get up a mountain quicker
That stuff will have you dancing naked in the street.
well, it would for sure help me get DOWN a mountain quicker. (but probably not safer)
by the way molly, i disagree as you're one of the few babblers i actually get on with :)
i meant as in what i wrote at 4.29 molly
naked rock climbing...painful :0
naked rock climbing...painful :
ouch!
L, what I put in the oven is not canned baked beans. I made them from scratch.
definitely 'ouch' pip! how is your job going?
so how do you make them and what type of bean do you use molly? cannelini?
i just always buy the low sugar ones from a shop but i do like to buy the mixed beans in a tin in water and then i mix them with garlic, onion and chopped fresh tomatoes, like a salsa
and a tiny bit of chilli flakes
job is going well, lilli. they did assign me to the super-jerky doctor, but he likes me
super jerky?
I use navy beans. You soak them overnight, then cook them on the stove for a while. Then bake them in a brown sugar, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion and bacon sauce.
he yells all the time, it seems his greatest pleasure is to be outraged, and woe until they who make mistakes
i've never heard of navy beans or bacon sauce
unto, that is
Not bacon sauce. All that stuff are the ingredients for the sauce I bake them in.
well, i'm ghlad he likes you pip.
oh ok, but i still don't know what navy beans are. will need to google
They are white beans, smaller than cannelini.
haricot beans which is what we use as baked beans
that's what i buy a can of, as in haricot, cannelini and another bean, which i forget and mix with what i said at 4.40 but i have that cold with a salad
i've never made proper baked beans, probably better as alot less salt and sugar than in the cans and probably more flavoursome molly
i'll have to write down your recipe
mmm, potato chips
aye eat the chips as you can have salad tomorrow :)
or crisps even.what flavour are they pip?
just finished 2 small half-eaten b ags. one was salt and vinegar, the other onion and garlic
i wish chips were full of vitamins... ;o)
we don't get onion and garlic here, i would love them.i like prawn cocktail, cheese and onion and beef flavoured crisps
well, potatoes do have some :)
prawn cocktail chips or crisps/fries?
crisps here
chips are cooked potatoes
are chips crisps?....or are fries crisps?
fried even and from the chippy are the best
no pen
your chips are our crisps
well....either they are chips or fries, right?
ah...ok....
what do you call fries?....
your fries are our chips but normally our chips aren't thin they are chunky
chips are fries.....crisps are chips....got it
ours can be all sizes really.....steak fries are larger fries, for example....but we also have shoestring fries and curly fries....
we only get thin chips/fries from macdonalds and kfc etc but from our chippies, which we call our fish and chip shops we get lovely chunky chips, none of them look the same or are the same size, and then we have loads of salt and vinegar on them.especially loads of malt vinegar
sounds yummy...
mmm, vinegar. i like them with curry sauce
if we go to our food shops then we can buy loads of different types in the freezer section
i like them with all sorts of stuff....like seasoned mayo
we also get them with curry, cheese sauce or mush peas pen
I can't eat vinegar chips. They smell like dirty socks.
in canada, they have "poutine" ....it's fries served with gravy and melted cheese...
Cheese curds...blech
lol, molly, i've never thought of vinegar has smelling like dirty socks and i have to smell the bairn's socks and they definitely don't smell like vinegar...if only!!:)
i like "crottes"...(turds)....but it's an acquired taste...
we do have chips with gravy too, but i don't like that. i just like salt and vinegar on mine
turds? that doesn't sound delicious at all
sometimes i just like a little salt....
turds pip?? really???
cheese pieces that are irregularly shaped....
what is turds apart from what i know that it is here
you have to chew them well to get the flavor....and they tend to be a little rubbery....
lillian....your answer appears below your question.. ;o)
omg, stop it pen...lmao, here turds mean poo :)
well it means that here, too, lol......but the French Canadians call that type of cheese "crottes" (means turds)....
i thought that was curds
oh god really? they need to change the word
curds is what cheese is made from or how it turns into after the milk is added
as it curdles
but the curds are also the chunks of cheese after they drain off the whey
yes...i don't know much about how cheese is made...but crottes are little irregularly shaped pieces of cheese, pale yellow in color....
like cottage cheese comes in small curd or large curd varieties
it's a good thing ru's not here as he'd have a field day, but saying that, he's missing all the good chat :D
i like cottage cheese
heh heh....
I'll take chili fries over poutine any day.
i find poutine a bit much
but then i feel the same about chili fries
so what is poutine?
i mainly just eat all the bits of cheese out of it
i don't care for poutine myself, though i like the crottes....
We get chili fries as an appetizer when we go out and share them.
fries w gravy and cheese curds
poutine is fries with gravy and melted cheese
sorry, i read it in the chat earlier, i don't know about gravy and melted cheese?
in fact neither of them float my boat!
it's not a hard cheese, more soft, like bigger chunks of soft cotrtage cheese
so is that just fries with dried chilli over molly?
when we have cheese on our chips it would be like cheddar which is melted
No, fries with chili, like Texas chili, and cheese
chili fries are fries covered in chili (you know the stew-like food with meat and/or beans) and usually cheese melted on top too
it wouldn't be cottage cheese as we have that in a sandwich.i didn't think you could melt cottage cheese
in contrast, crottes are fairly hard....
we don't have chilli on our fries here
we don't have that much around here either
From what I have read here, people in the UK and Canada are not big on Mexican food
i'll have to google texas chilli, is that like mincemeat with cheese?
huh. that is a shame
*Just fainted at the thought of mincemeat and cheese*
no, we're not molly. we do have mexican restaurants
lol...
it's tomato-based sort of mince-meat (but it may only have beans and no meat depending on who makes it) and flavored with lots of chili powder
no it if you take stew meat and cut into eights. . .
same here, lillian...we have mexican restaurants but not much chili fries...
i meant savoury mince not sweet mince used in tarts at christmas
my dad's has beans and several kinds of meat, and we eat it over rice with cheese and sometimes sour cream
brown it with onion and garlic and then slow cook it with a cup of chili powder and some tomato paste and a little water. . . .
*faints at the thought of beans in chili*
and some people use proper slices or chunks of meat in theirs, every region and/or family has their own style
Right picky you are. No sugar in cornbread, no beans in chili...
so many recipes.ty jmc,the problem is that the bairnm and i don't like too much chilli but we will eat a little
well i have standards. . . .
speaking of which, tomorrow i will bike to coney island and go for a run on the beach, then get a coney island hot dog (which means with chili and cheese) before i bike home. yay!
sounds tasty pippin
Oh really Pip. I guess you can afford the calories in a Coney Island dog with all that biking and running.
eh, it's one dog. i only live 5 miles away so it's a short bike ride, but a beach run is a lot of work, it'll be worth it.
goodness this talk of chili has made me hungry!
jmc, it's basically how i would make spag bol but without chilli, but i will add some next time.
5 miles...a short bike ride...ahahahahahaha!
i thought chilli always had beans in?
JMC has high falutin' Texas standards
not in true texas chili! that is an anathema!
it's 30 minutes and all flat. i guess i bike a lot. i used to go that far to work every day up a giant hill
well i am impressed pippin!
The only time I make chili without beans is when it's to go in dip or on hot dogs.
of course i nearly died the time i walked (fairly slowly) six miles
beans on hot dogs = giant mess
well you probably use ground meat. . .
which is the wrong place to start anyway
jmc, that's because you're so sweet that if you get wet even from sweat, you start to melt!
*Laughs at the thought of chili dog chili with chunks of meat in it*
well, i've been to mexico and i must admit, i liked their food but didn't have anything too chillified :)
hahahahahahahahahahahahha!
i like ground meat in chili, but then my dad's chili is a thing of beauty
ground meat is our mince
i cut my meat myself for my chili. . . .
yes lill
about 1/2 inch cubes
Chili is such a personal thing. I ate a neighbor's chili once and almost gagged because it had big chunks of green pepper in it.
i know jmc, that is what i was saying :)
So what do you eat on a bun, L. Mince burgers?
if we have chunks of meat it's called a stew or casseerole
weird molls
ew! i know a lot of people do that, esp for vegetarian chili (hahahaha, oxymoron?) but i am not a fan
helllo all.
i am not a fan of vegetarian chili. . .
hi TO
hey TO
beef burgers, turkey, lamb, chicken but it is all minced down. i make my own burgers, with lean mince pork and add chopped onion, mushroom, garlic, mixed herbs, pepper and chopped sweet(bell) redd or whatever other peppers i have in
call it spicy stew veggie stew. . . .
hi TO :)
What y'all refer to as "mince" we call "ground". As in ground beef, ground turkey, etc.
Here, mincemeat only goes in pies at Christmas.
and here mincemeat has nothing to do with meat either
we have savoury mince and sweet mince
but it's good in cookies
the original mincemeat that the mincemeat we know was based on minced meat.. . .
that is what my mother said. .. . but who knows
see our mince meat is minced, so like your ground
mince is a funny word
the mince meat we know is sweet and then savoury mince is known as mince
stats for the corner o please
see, we do our ground meat in a meat grinder, so how do you make your mince meat?
Have some ouzo Pip. It will get funnier.
we do the same pip
but i don't as i buy it already minced from the supermarket
there is ouzo? any retsina?
i think i will go with wine, but i will, if only to celebrate my new curly hair
It's the same stuff Pip. They just call it mince instead of ground.
i have a bottle of ouzo my doctor (at work) gave me
What kind of perm did you get? Tight or loose?
nice pip
i need a vodka!! :)
no stats for the corner O?
what type of curls pip?
but molly, how is it minced if it's been through a grinder?
os4/4
they had minced beef before they had grinders. . . .
Don't ask me Pip. Where I come from, ground is ground.
ty molls
i've had enough talking about mince which ever way it is ground, chopped, sweet or not..lol
kind of in-between curls, lilli, my hair is still only barely chin-length (and now a bit less)
haha lill
sounds lovely pip
are you sure we can't grind this into the ground more?
If I ever go to the UK I will starve because I will not be able to order food with the right words.
shut up jmc :D(in a nice way)
stats for the first column E please
you can point molls. . . that is what i did when i went to places where i didn't speak the language. . .
. . . like new jersey. . .
el6/21 and 7/32, jmc
ty jes
i keep wanting to find alabaster
believe me, i'd be the same in the U.S :) i can't believe how many ways you have eggs. i just like mine dry fried with a nice yolk so i can put my toast into it
Oh I definitely don't speak Jersey.
See! Dry fried???
that sounds like sunny side up lill
*Imagines a dried up egg white with a runny yolk in the middle*
well, i would dry fry it at home molly but even here in restaurants and cafes, they don't so i don't mind it in pan withut loads of oil but i want a nice soft yolk
nbt
there, supposedly my profile pic should now be me with the new hair
not here....
it is when i click on it
it definitely isn't molly, i put my egg in a pan and then i will cover it with a pan lid to cook the white and then the yolk is still gooey
another 10 minutes before i wander off to the garden. . .
No eggs cooked in oil in my house, only butter.
mmmmm butter. . .
i've actually started cooking mine in chicken fat, it is so so good
ba 7/36 ?
mmmmm schmaltz. . . .
Jewish mothers everywhere are proud of Pip.
the hound, sammysmom
that's it, jmc sunny side up and then all the other terms, i get confused when i go to the carribeanand mexico as they don't know what we're talking about. all i want is a fried egg with a runny middle :) that's not too much to ask?
repeat after me: sunny side up
How do you like your eggs? Looking at me.
why do i have to say sunny side up? :)
my favorite is blind-folded . . .but few cooks know how to do them anymore. . .
so what are they when you turn them over, which is what my hubby and bairn like
over easy?
Go ahead and order a dried egg in the Caribbean L and see what you get.
yes, over easy, or over hard if no longer runny
Yes, over easy. As in turn them over, but don't cook the yolk hard.
i like my eggs in the carribean as they are on a flat type griddle pan but not too much oil
i would like anything in the carribean. . .
very confusing to me, we just say flip them over
A blind folded egg is now called shirred.
i like how our countries speak the same language!! :D
Wait, no, basted.
oh ty moll. . . .
basted is different. . . but okay
basted, is what you do to a chicken
the hound is the ba 6/24 and cannot be made into a plural... i need the ba 7/36
sammysmom ba7/36 ba double consonant vowel double consonants....hi all
Double the consonant at the end SMom
double up on everything sammy
add a cons
Basted is the same, whether you use bacon fat or butter.
blindfolded is a sunnyside up where you put a little water on the grill and then a lid over the water and the egg. . . kinda looks like a cataract . . .
hi gypsy
THANKS... you know i can't see the tree for the forest
jmc, that sounds like poached, except not
no basted you pour the oil or butter from grill over the egg. . .
hi cgypsy
what is the one that gets baked in a little ramekin?
back. dinner is cooking, waiting for the dinner chime
hi lil...on vacation and haven't had a chance to be on much....great conversation today....I'm hungry!
shirred egg
is that called shirred?
ty jmc, so similar to how i do it but without water.all teh terms get soooo confusing:)
no poached you put the egg in boiling water. . .. hahaha . . . I begin to see lill's point
we poach eggs in water and vinegar in a pan
the ramekin is what i would call shirred. . .
i poach in a silicone container, it works better
yes the vinegar helps stay together. . .
i also poach in a bowl with a little water in teh microwave
so it's basically steamed while sitting down in the water
i saw today that fish can be poached in oil, i wonder if egs can. i only eat scrambled.
I like mine made my St. Bennidict
anyway I am off to plant more okra. . .
there are so many different terms and ways of doing eggs, it's unbelievable
tasty joso!
lil do you have scrambled egs?
you can also poach fish and shellfish (and i assume other things) in butter, which is divine
i wish i was coming with you jmc :0.lol
bye jmc and tc
butter poached shrimp are amazeballs
why oh why are the a words hiding from me? *tears at hair*
yes we do TO, i had them for my supper with baked beans
bye all! *puts on straw hat and poofs*
interesting... and you use the same word. miracle. ;)
i had poached eggs for brekky, with some kielbasa
where are you going je?
but i don't cook them with butter, i just scramble 3 eggs, add salt and pepper and a little milk and stir over the heat
something about planting okra, TO
oh there is the oven chime. bbl
diving in to find more words
Oh praise be! She knows what scrambled eggs are!
i'm english, not american. we don't have hundreds of terms for cooking one thing :D
by the way no offense meant, i'm joking
i'm diving in before rocks thrown at me :)
Well L, we like diversity here. Beef and yorkshire at every meal gets boring. : P
no rocks...
it's because we season with more than salt
yorkshire pudding with any meal never gets boring :)
sadly, english cooking gets quite a bad rap
cheek pip, so do we..:)
Mushy peas...I rest my case.
yes it does and yet we have some lovely tasting food and we do add spices, herbs and flavourings
well, apart from them molly
but then the same is said about american food as in hotdogs and all the cholesterol full food
we all have different tastes around the world and we all have lovely tasting unhealthy food and healthy food
Plenty of cholesterol in beef and bangers
it's true. there is amazing american food, but so many americans eat like crap
we all do pip.the best food to eat apparently is asian as in non cholesterol and healthy
They even have an acronym for it - SAD - standard American diet. And it can be pretty sad, lots of junk food and fast foods
Most "American food" comes from other countries anyway, as we are the "melting pot".
but rice and noodles only fill you up for so long and then your'e hungry again
aye and then the american's have added their own taste to things molly
at the end of the day, we choose what we eat
i choose delicious!
i ate a cup of seafood chowder, a seasoned mashed up avocado, grape tomatoes, and a bagel thin for dinner...
me too pip.
i eat what i fancy, some might be healthy ,some not, but i don't care. we only live once. we have to enjoy our lives while we're here
i've heard of stories from my nan who has eaten bread and dripping, golden syrup and bread and bread and sugar with butter and she is 96 this year, so it hasn't done her any harm
What is the point of eating if you don't enjoy what you eat?
i ate oven fired chicken tenders, home fries and broccoli.
i would try the chowder pen, but if it's too fishy tasting i wouldn't like it but the rest i would eat
wasn't fishy at all....lobster, clams, crab, shrimp, and just a little haddock....yummy
sounds lovely TO
i don't like lobster pen but i ate crab years ago and it was too salty for me so i need to taste it again
<---Loves seafood chowder
i almost always wat overn fired chicken tenders. sometimes i make a bit extra and maake them milanese or parmigiana
oh my, my typing is awful tonight. FRIED, oven FRIED, breaded tenders
i must admit, i'm not a big fish eater and i can't stand salmon
we knew what you meant TO:)
i am very iffy on fish and turth be told like it fried the best. but i am learning
i only eat salmon out of a tin with loads of malt vinegar mixed into it
i like cod, scampi, plaice, dover sole but not fishy fish
well when one lives on the coast, one learns to like fish.... ;o)
i used to live on the coast pen but i still wasn't a big fish eater
i am with you on that, lil, though i have eaten swordfish steak and mako
i don't like fishy fish either....usually think that it's not fresh...
i love mussels,winkles and cockles
Alive, alive-oh!
i am just so bored with cooking - and eating - at present.
i've had sword fish in jamaica and it was lovely To and tuna steaks
:) molly
EVERYTHING they cook in jamaica is wonderful. I've eaten things there that i've never liked again.
i've never had mako
The best fish is freshly caught fish. The longer it's out of the water, the blander it gets.
marinated and grilled or roasted shark is lovely
It's because of all the ganga they add to the food TO. : D
ah, i have a ton of eggs and need to use them up quickly. i am going to make cup custards tonight, then a sacory pie tomorrow. that will kill a half dozen
:P yah mon
In dublin's fair city, where the girls are so pretty, i first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone :)
I like the Beatles song. Desmond pushes the wheelbarrow in that one. : D
i'm the same To with the jamaican food and i even had cow hooves there
i don't know that version molly
oh hell, i did not o that far, only as far as pepper pot soup and lobster.
You don't know The Beatles song Oh-Blah-Dee?
i need to finish and decide if i want to go swing dancing tonight. not motivated but it that or walk
when we went to jamaica molly, we went to 9 miles which is where bob marley lived and that is the only legal place on the island that you can smoke ganga and ask a policeman to light it for you :)
oh yes i do molly, thanks
Get up stand up...
but, i've neve been big into the Beatles. my husband has been to the kabin a few times with his guests on his coach
believe me To, no-one could eat the hooves, the best part was the carrots with the sauce:)
hey, clue on the re6?
TO, i think your cup custards would be our custard tarts? it would be custard in a pie case
cup custard has no crust, just baked in a cup
i don't have that one yet pip, sorry
ah, so l
here we go again... :) it is individual custard baked in a cup or ramekin. no crust
i may make coconot custards.
it's not my fault we don't cook the same :D, ahh ok ty :)
got it. bloody re words
what they h - e- double hockeysticks is ba6/24!!!!!
can you give me a clue please pip?
you would buy a used item at a re**** shop
i have a sheepsounding one TO
TO, it is a total unword - double-plural sheep sounds
and the hound dog with big ears
that's what I though it might be. but i was hoping to be wrong.
my last word is the st6
If you have the be7/8...you should have the st6
and now i feel stupid because i never tried the plural of the one before. wigh
the sheep word was my last one....
haha, i meant "sigh"
and done. now to be productiv. or walk . or something
That is not a sheep word. That is a word someone typed while they were drunk, and Enable said "what the hell, let's include it".
yay!wtg pen!! ;)
yay!wtg TO! :) enjoy the rest of your day and tc
geek, i wanted to go to connolll's tonight but i have not yet figured out how to do so easily and economically
haha molly.
i agree molly, what the hell is that word!!
connolly's
okay, sadly, i feel ready for bed already, even tho it' only 7:30
ty for the st5/6
Drunk baseball announcer: The ba6 are loaded and Simpkin is up.
i wish it was that time here pip
perhaps a british bball announcer
well, i hope you get to go to wherever you want tonigh TO, cheaply and safely
perhaps i will lay down my curly head till tomorrow, when i can bike to the beach!
i miss riding a bike :(
i will try to figure out how to make an acquaintance list in fb
Aha, a drunk British baseball announcer
i'll have to get a bike made for my daughter where she pedals and then i can have an added bit onto hers but mine goes on the ground with a bucket seat and i can pedal, so when i get dizzy, the bairn does all the work :D
it would be funny TO, apart form the fact we don't play baseball
Oh that's right, y'all like those prancy sports like cricket and polo : P
there's nowt wrong with cricket and atleast with our rugby union, we don't wear shoulder pads and helmets :P
and try riding a horse quickly whilst hitting asmall ball at the same time :)
Easy girl, we have rugby over here too. I dated a rugby player in college.
and here in the cities they play polo on double-tall bikes
did he have a broken nose?
double tall bikes?
And the rugby players are all insane from getting bashed in the head too many times not wearing a helmet.
but rugby isn't a big sport in your country though molly, like ours is it?
my dad and brother are alright, tyvm :D
No, our big sport is football. But there are plenty of rugby teams.
i think there are some insane ones in all sports, with or without helmets
Not like rugby. Have you ever drank with those guys? Holy mother of God.
you don't play football molly, you play american football which is similar to rugby. football is totally a different sport, what you would call soccer
yes, and i kept up with them :) i don't know if i should say that :D
Call it what you want L. It's called football here.
with helmets :)
Just please don't call it "footy"
i would never call it footy
well ladies, i bid you all adieu. and happy babbling, if any of you are. :P
bye To, tc and i hope you ahve a good evening :)
same to you, cheeky
help with ba7 pls
Like the hound, double consonant at the end
Hello just starting. Lovely day in the Northwest with sunshine and comfortable temperatures.
Hi Gran Mere
Hi Molly.
Sounds like a pretty day in your neck of the woods.
hi peri
((gmere)) lovely to see you
ty Molls
hi lil, hi all
Yes. We finally got summer!
we sure did, and what a glorious beginning to our warmer season!
hello all
hi stid :)
Just got fireworks!
yay!wtg gmere!!:D
Thank you lilliann! I don't finish very often but it is nice to do it. I'm going to finish cooking dinner. We have some fish to go with our baked potato, fresh beets and beet greens. I'm going to do the artichokes tomorrow--not enough pans to hold everything!
YAY mother!
sounds great gmere, send a plate over please :D
evening all! can I have stats for the 8?
:-) have a wonderful evening.
hey dan -- the niece pics were awfully fun. What a sweet child she is!
be8/70
thanks stid! the new cousin is a doll :-)
bye gmere and tc
ty lilliann got it
how are you lilliann?
yw dan
not me, unfortunately... be 8 for beginners?
not too bad thanks stid, father in law was inhospital this week but out now and seems to be doing ok as long as he takes his warfrin when he should
I am so sorry he had to learn that lesson the hard way... I hope he will not have lingering problems!
no, he's just found out that he has a bad heart and has to take warfin but we have to remind him to take it at the same time every day. he went into hospital with bad neck pain which is unrelated and then they found out that he had an irregular heartbeat
oh, so glad it was something else that got him the help he needed... but still... ((hugs)) glad he'll be okay!
us too, but i don't think he realizes how serious it is
i love him to bits but when you talk to him and he doesn't have senile dementia or owt like that but when you talk he is on bbc radio and the rest of us are on cnn.he just doesn't listen as he's too busy telling you his live story or whatever.he was the same in hospital with the doctors
he's more worried about his bad neck which isn't bad but he needs to move it more but because it hurts he doesn't so that makes the spasms worse
sounds like perhaps perceptual impairments? Is his hearing going? mid-range perhaps?
he might think he's listening, and he might be hearing something, but if it's hard to fill in the missing bits he might not really be hearing.
everything is good stid, it's just him and he's been like that for years and years...it's just him
wow... LOL I cannot imagine existing like that, actually. Bothers me when I have allergies that clog my ears.
That's when I have trouble connecting and retaining information.
he's always talked over people and his life is more important.he did it when the bairn was knocked over, bless him. i don't think he means to do it, he just does#
and he has loads of mates and when we drive pass people, he'll say 'that's my mate' but he doesn't know their name and they've never shown up when he's needed them so...
as you know i have problems with my ears which is why i have all my dissabilities, but he doesn't bless him.his ears and eyes are ok
he's a lovely man stid and if you met him you would like him but you'd also understand...probably not his accent though..:)
rough to have people like that, isn't it lilliann? And yes, I know you also have trouble with hearing, which is why I mentioned it. As a teacher, sometimes it seems a student (or a parent!) is just rude and doesn't pay attention when it really is a hearing or vision issue.
LOL I am pretty good with accents, lilliann... after a while. Or is he Geordie too?
he has more of a pronounced accent and the ol4 geordie words that aren't used so much now
oh, yes -- that's a funny thing about accents, they turn into generational oddities, too. My grandmother spoke the German of "50 years ago" ...
i think some of the bairn's teachers might of thought i was rude on her parents' evening as i couldn't hear everything and then i was leaning in so i could lip read :)
:-) I refused to go to many conferences that were held in the gymnasium. I couldn't hear what was said, too much background noise.
They thought originally it meant I didn't care, but the reality was that I simply couldn't hear.
i should have taken off my glasses..:)
do you have hearing aids stid?
No, I have "perfect" hearing, lilliann according to the tests, but I have a problem with background noise because my brain isn't able to sort the important things out.
i have hearing aids but when out in public with all the noise it makes it worse for me so i don't wear them out in public
oh ok, is there something that can be done?
yes, I know there are some hearing aids that claim to avoid that, but I don't think they are very good.
when i wear mine i can hear every one else but the person i'm talking too, and then all the noise gives me pressure in my head and then i end up lying down for hours,so sod the hering aids :)
I don't know, lilliann -- one of these days I will give docs a try again. I am still so disgusted with the way I have been treated for other issues that I just have developed coping mechanisms. Which include things like trying to meet with students when all the other ones are busy and quiet. :-)
i'm like you stid, i've had enough of doctors just passing the buck or not listening and after the 10 years i did i just get on with it now and see them when i have too, but i should say that no all doctors are bad and alot do listen and will try and help and thankfully i've found a few but the others haven't helped
i think it also depends on what you have wrong with you as i had signs and symptoms are similar for alot of ailments as i found out even though i ended up having the both they told me i wouldn't have, so it is tough for doctors but some just don't seem to care.my local gp is crap
so is my typing as it is early:) 5 left diving in to finish and go to bed
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
hi min
E's Energised! 7 left
thanks lilliann -- and yes -- I have multiple (at this point usually minor) issues that could be many things, and they aren't interested in looking at the totality of symptoms, just treating each thing separately. Oh well.
welcome to the grid, Min!
yay min!
brb down to 50
well hopefully they will stid as alot of minor issues tend to go together to form a major issue or a not so major issue but atleast a'something' if you know what i mean
B's Bought! 6 left
go min!!
A's Aligned! 4left
I am finished! I have fireworks! sp 6/24 was my final word.
I will be here for thirty more minutes to clue if still needed
yay!!wtg min!! :)
2 left here
back again
Hi all!
YAY Min!
Just reading the chog, and wanted to mention Stid that if you try a DO instead of an MD, you might get a doctor who is more likely to look at the whole instead of one symptom at a time.
hey nrk!!!
That's supposed to be their approach.
Go lillian go!
I just switched to a DO, so we'll see how that works. :)
Hello nrkii! How are you doing today? Welcome to the grid
2 left here also
P5 and S5
hang in!
hope it works out well, nrk, I have also heard good things about DOs
Go nrkii go!
Hello penquis! How are you doing today? Welcome to chog
hey penquis!
you, know, every time I see your icon in smally-size penquis, I think it's a jellyfish... LOL the 1701 species!
fireworks finally!!
lol
i am doing fine, min....been lurking for a while...
YAY lilliann!!!!
