hello everyone
hi nan
Hi all :)
hi Liz
Hello -- late again
Hi Jilli :)
Had to finish watching Midsomer Murders.
hi jilli
I used to enjoy that show when I lived in England.
nbs, nbt and 85 down -- that's all for tonight :)
Night Nan. Sleep well.
wtg nan -- hi and bye!
good morning babblers
hi puglet
Hi puglet :)
hello flosey and Liz and Jilli
hi puglet
(I went away for a bit)
hey Jilli
Grid started off so well but has slowed down now :(
Just popped in for a moment. Wanted to say hi and bye. ((Liz)) Hugs all around.
Hi Mimi - read about your new job. Hope it's going ok.
hi mimi
hi mimi
((flosey))
((jilli))
Thanks, Liz. It starts on Tuesday. Resting up this weekend!
beautiful icon, Mimi
and cooee from me
Look forward to hearing about it Mimi.
Thanks, flosey. It's a waterfall in Iceland with an Aurora in the sky.
Hey Rose - how's the knee today?
((rose))
hi granny
Would love to go to Iceland but reckon that now I live downunder, there's not too much chance of it!
hey mimi, what's this about a new job, hun?
hello dear jilli
liz, thanx for asking, knee seems to improve everyday. only ached a little overnight.
Yes, rose, I finally got a job doing radiology transcription (which is what I've done the past 30 years) part-time at home. Hopefully, my financial crisis is over.
oh, wow, mimi. what a perfect job. how good is that!?!
two of our library stalwarts are holidaying in Iceland right now. She is of that heritage.
That's so good to hear Rose - and you've not had the brace on for that long yet!
sounds excellent Mimi - hope it works out really well.
good news for both of you!
just shows to go you, liz. all it needed was the correct treatment.
The down side is that the main dr. I must transcribe is the worst I've ever heard in 30 years. But I'll just consider it a challenge and dig in! At least I won't have to ride the bus in 106 degree heat!
Sounds so weird but Old Icelandic was a unit of study for me when i was at uni - not that I learnt to speak any icelandic but it was fun reading the sagas!
and with all your experience, i'm sure you are going to be just fine and dandy.
One of my best friends is a tenured prof in astrophysics and he went to Iceland for a conference. Said it was absolutely beautiful.
I'm also sure it'll be fine and you'll get used to that doctor's speech.
Friends of mine have been there - jealous!
They also had a great time and their photos were beautiful.
It seems to be quite a popular destination now -- one of our bridge pals went there too.
Am making sure I'll have plenty of vodka for the end of the day, rose, to relax after the tension of having to concentrate so intensely. The group of drs. she works for has already lost 3 other transcription services because they didn't want to transcribe her!
hey mimi, at least you don't have to decipher the chicken's scrawl i have to do. i swear the doctors take lessons in how to confound a nurse.
You'd think she'd realise something was not quite right then!
Doctors and children! Now what can we learn from that???
Apparently, this dr. is totally clueless. They've tried talking to her but to no avail. Seems counterproductive to dictate that badly when you want your reports to be accurate.
and the anaesthetists have lessons in how many different ways can you tangle cables, iv lines, arteial lines, drain tubes and catheters.
And is it your job to untangle the lines?
If I could work with her directly I could probably influence her, but I won't have any direct contact.
You can only do your best Mimi and I'm sure you will.
Doctors AND children? Many times doctors ARE children!
you know mimi, maybe spend a few hours with her at the clinic, pick up on her accent and the way she says things, it might help if you are used to her voice when it comes to transcribing her notes.
My thoughts!
I was thinking about deciphering kid's writing!
I had another job offer that I almost took but it would require riding two buses and standing on my feet for 6 hours on the days I worked. I'm just not up to that at this point. Still having heart symptoms.
lol, liz, only if we want the iv's to run, and the catheters to drain...
You look after yourself. This job sounds much more suitable.'
Which I guess you do or certainly the patient does!
I can't, rose. She's in Colorado. The owner of the service I'll be working for knows how bad she is and actually asked me to listen to her before accepting the job so I'd know what I as getting into!
hello all - please could i have the stats for the middle D - I have typed deduct 10 times at least
oh, so true, mimi...we have some newly graduated surgeons working , and i look at them and think, who is this child? they are younger than 2 of my sons...
de 6 / 24 - monkeyed it a minute ago
tx liz will look
nbs but not nbt
what nationality is she, mimi?
WTG Jilli - I'm also missing that corner t and the bottom a! Still, 3 short of 100 so not doing too badly!
The lady who hired me (the owner of the service) seems really cool. She has already said she's happy to have me and is sure I'll be a valuable asset to the company. I like praise!
We all do better with praise!
liz, te5/12
ty rose
She's American, rose. I've transcribed drs. from all over the world, working in teaching hospitals, and none of them were as bad as this woman. Her problem is she talks unnaturally fast. She's like some sort of alien chipmunk!
ae6/7 combo
Found the ae combo - thanks
lol....i wonder if you can slow the recording down a touch.
Love the description, Mimi - lol - perhaps not for you, though!
I can and will. Keeping everything crossed that I'll be able to do it (which makes it difficult to type, see, and walk)!
now there's a thought. load her 'notes' onto the computer and digitally slow her down. i'm sure it can be done.
And babble!
*giggle* but good bladder control, mimi
My boss has already sent me all kinds of reports that she does so I can see the wording and phrasing. The good thing is she only dictates mammograms, pelvic and abdominal ultrasounds. She works for a women's clinic.
LOL, rose!
The reports must be a great help and once you know her phrasing and the technical vocal, it'll get easier.
vocab = that should've said but i guess you already do if you've done this job for 30 years!
Another transcriptionist has been training on her reports for TWO MONTHS already and still can't do them without the boss looking them over. I'm VERY good but she will be a challenge.
With normal drs. who transcribe reasonably well my accuracy rate is 99% and I can do over 100 reports in a day easily. Have a feeling those stats will plummet with this one!
There's the challenge!
Thanks for the support, everyone. Going to bed and finish watching a movie. See you later. Hugs all around and poof!
Time for a break. Good to catch up mimi :)
BBL
gnight mimi
night, mimi. rest well, hun

great thanks rose
i am trying to finish early - have family wedding next weekend and will have guests staying - need to clean up spare bedroom and tidy out cupboards etc
ditto here, flosey. now that i have the CORRECT brace on, my knee feels really good.
noted your update, good to hear your improvements
urshy, i finished in just 69 minutes. grid is quite friendly.
spare bedrooms tend to collect junk somehow and easy to stuff things into the cupboards just to get them out of the way
yeah she better get better --her vacation is just around the corner-lol
lol, urshy, if you could only see our spare bedroom. you cannot make out where the bed is...
{{{pugs}}}
ah, I hear you ursh, so easy to store 'stuff' in small spare room (chesterfield pulls out to spare bed)
aah rose - best thing is to invite guests to overnight very good for doing a clean up
well, seeing as most of it belongs to DH, and it would probably be HIS daughter over from adelaide...catch my drift?
amazing amount of stuff that should have just been given or thrown away
thats one of the nice thing of having a small camping area--they can bring their own housing-lol
lol, but hubby and I usually end up using it, all other men in our family are much taller
*giggle* pugs

Hi Molly, lovely day
Gorgeous here too.
the weather is always gorgeous in Pleasantville
: D
I was just reading about Phand's friend who is still missing. Must be an awful time for family and friends.
I dont know what happened but it sounds dreadful.
missing?
She just went missing. Went out to do errands on Wednesday and hasn't been seen since. They found her car, which had the keys and her cell phone in it.

it's frustrating, his kidneys are doing ok for now but his bowels/pancreas... the vet gave us new meds this week she thought would make things better but it's worse! i wonder if this means we will have to try the expensive med she mentioned once before, or what
hurshy, how old is he?
13
sorry i was just reading about it, which made me feel much worse!
well, that is a pretty good age, my dear. in fact, it's a long time. {{{hurshy}}}
is he in pain, do you think?
no, doesn't seem to be
Is he losing weight?
no he's not losing weight right now cause i give him a supplement, nutrical
not losing weight is a good sign re: kidneys
the trouble is one of the main ways that they treat bowel probs is diet change - and he's real picky about what he eats
when do you see the vet again?
so if we try that he may not eat
oh probably this week sometime
oh, poor hurshy, caught between a rock and a hard place. hun, i do so hope you can find a way around this.
the worst is the vet is having knee surgery july 11 and won't be avail for 4-6 weeks
hurshy, i'm sure a locum has been organised.

one of the RI guys came to our dance on friday, he is a realtor and said he would give us realtors in the coastal area. and he dissed the places we were considering. so all is chaos again

halfway, NBT and NBS - time for a break
I do silly things like that, westford.
bye teach hurry back
please send cannoli to me :)
I should... would save me like a jillion calories
impossible (so far) to find a decent cannoli up here - and it's been 16 years
I'm not a huge fan myself, but a friend picked these up at a small italian bakery down in redwood city, and they are the best I've ever had
I had ice cream, hot fudge sauce and whipped cream here because Babbler Krista visited Thursday. Dangerous for me to have that in the house.
also brought chocolate dipped figs from there... omg
My sister and I finished everything off last night, so it is safe now.
damn... now I must get it... brb
getting hungry
welki, hi
19 left and time to get moving - we've been pretty much stuck at home the last few days
are you staying high and dry?
86 to go
Hey, welki. How is the flooding situation?
Welki...you can order cannoli online...just google cannoli.
we're okay - very difficult to maneuver around the area though. canadian forces are nearby, shoring up the riverbanks
doesn't look like the downtown will be re-opened for at least another three days
What a mess!
far reaching, scrabb - most of the province is now affected
hi mimi
anyway, off for a while - enjoy the day, babblers
Hello all
hi bichon and mimi
Bye welki, hi bichon.
bichon was your walking tour all you wished for?
Oh, Mimi snuck in too.
and then some west. I would recommend it to everyone
so... the x is just for decoration?
that's so nice to hear
*talking to mother on phone now--getting shopping list*
Am in San Mateo, CA now visiting the grands
where did you walk/tour, bichon?
The Cotwolds, in England
that's the best, isn't it?
oh, very cool!
that is on my to do list
Move it to the top kj, well worth it
ok! (plus, I can speak mostly the language, compared to my other trips, should be a breeze ; )
mostly speak, not speak mostly - lol
missing 1 far left R... any weird ones?
Morning, all...just dropped in for a minute. I did most a lot of the grid at the flip. Bichon, I'm so envious of you being in northern CA....sigh.
nm... found the pesky thing
hi mimi
Hi, there, westford!
I keep trying roommate but they insist on 2 m's
Just visiting though. Have to return to hot, humid CT on Tues. But I will return here in August
yes, tried it too...
Middle D, top row?
august will be gorgeous here, bichon!
I'm starting to look toward moving there next year, bichon. I'm a CA girl at heart.
de6, scrab - de + tend
kje gave me some very good suggestions on places to look. Thanks, dear.
de and cookie pkg sent to soldiers
TY, K!
maybe all of you can start a babble house and save rent together ; )
Funny, kye!
I wouldn't wish living with me on anyone!
we loved Monterey when we lived there
OMG, westford, Carmel and Monterey are my favorite places.
How could you bear to leave?
would go back in a minute
ok, at 25... respectable enough to list now
change of station..he was at Post Graduate school there
we left there and moved to Coronado so not so bad
We're camping at Big Sur today
Told my kids to scatter half my ashes over Ouray, CO and the other half over Carmel...that way if they want to visit Mom, they get a nice vacation!
Fun, bichon!
Ouray, CO, we met a couple from Ouray while we were hiking in England
OMG, bichon...I'm so envious my teeth are hurting. Make sure you visit Nepenthe. It's a combo art gallery/souvenir shop/restaurant. It is the house Orson Welles bought for Rita Hayworth and has the most magnificant view right on a cliff.
I want shalf my ashes spread at Thirteenth Lake in the Adirondack Mtns, and the other half at the park near my house. My favorite places.
I don't think we're going to have any time on a one nighter
You should really try to make time....it's totally worth it. Big Sur is relatively compact so it wouldn't take long to see it.
ooh Nepenthe
Where are you camping?
You know Nepenthe, westford?
yes but didn't now Orson Welles bought it
It was his love nest with Rita Hayworth...I think when they were first married.
I'm like a little travel guide for the U.S. I've driven in/been to every state in the contiguous U.S. except far New England...only got to Boston.
I am trying to get to 100 and it is difficult.
we had a great trip west a few years ago..flew to SF, drove down to Big Sur, stopped at Nepenthe for lunch then on to Monterey and dinner at the Sardine Factory ( abalone ) and south from there. Our second daughter lives in Encinitas
Have traveled cross-country 12 times, taking different routes, and often by myself.
that's the best way to see this big beautiful country
Did you stay at Deetjen's?
Hi Kaplan
Hi.
hi kap
I adore driving along the coast in northern CA....it's a destination in itself.
Route 1 Pacific.
I love the beginning scenes of Basic Instinct when they show that great house at Stinson....heavy sign.
2 of our daughters are on the west coast..other one lives in Bellingham
Bottom A clues?
but other daughter and son are in MA so need to do something about the middle of the country
Come to MA. Middle of country can be skipped.
both start with ae scrab
I stayed here in Phoenix because all three of my kids are here. But as they've gotten older, I'm liking them less and less, so figure I can move.
;)
ha!
once when I was in Phoenix my shoes melted
double ha!
silly us went in August
I often think I'll go up in spontaneous human combustion and just be a grease spot on the pavement.
The 3 bad months of summer are the price we pay for living here the rest of the year when it's wonderful weather. We only have 2 seasons in Phoenix...heaven and hell.
perfect description mimi
in New England if you don't like the weather, wait a minute
My third child was born the beginning of August....was pregnant all summer and with two other small children...not fun.
In Phoenix if you don't like the weather, just grin and bear it because it won't change for a VERY long time!
I can't even remember the last time we had rain...and I ADORE thunderstorms. So I'm not happy about the weather most of the time.
*looking*
Time to GET OUT!!!
I've got two now

amazing... that moon was so bright, once it came up over the hill, the whole beach lit up
which beach did you go to?
Muir Beach
oh.. lovely
had a fire pit, stayed until about 11. Usually closes at sunset, but I guess the ranger was letting people enjoy the moon show, as he hadn't come by to lock up even when we left
usually he makes a sweep through after dark
we suspect he was up at the tavern at the end of the road enjoying a pint ; )
that's really cool

oh too bad maybe he's reformed
I like him in Vegas
I've heard Locklear is twee.
I'll bite..what is twee?

I am so glad I got to see him in concert.
my sister is in the grid
Rura?
Is he no longer playing? I never got to see him
Rura yes :D
I saw Johnny Lang last year and really enjoyed the show
He's still playing. I meant before my rip roaring concert going days were behind me.
I know.. all the bands I still wanted to see are all geezers now
<----wonders why anyone would put rip roaring concert going days behind them ;)
Money mostly. I won't go to a concert unless I have decent seats and they are expensive these days.
they sure are.
what does the 9 begin with?
The last concert I had crappy seats for was Elton John. I almost feel like a liar saying I "saw" him in concert. More like a multi-colored dot on the stage.
cr9
I hear that
I went to a rolling stones concert in the 1980's and I was so high up I couldn't stop my nose from Bleeding.. I'll never do that again
(nose bleed section)
Peace and love, concert goers.
I had seats behind the stage for Springsteen once, but he turns around and plays to those seats, which is cool.
Jai satichitananda judi
You guys went to A-list concerts. I've only seen Huey Lewis (twice), Bonnie Raitt and Bryan Adams.
Bonnie Raitt is A-list in my book.
I went to the Fillmore when it was in gear... I love Bonnie Raitt.. saw her at least 10 times
She was fantastic.
Think she still is, morning all
Best show was at Great American Music Hall with her and her Bass player Freebo.. just the two of them
Oops. Just remembered another one. One concert we went to had a ton of artists. Stray Cats and Willy Nelson were two that I recall. A lot of other country bands that I ignored.
<---Loves Stray Cats
Here is the question for this morning, What is the best show you've ever seen?
Never been to any really famous concert halls. Saratoga Performing Arts Center was where we saw most of the talent.
<---greatest Show Ever.. Cream at the Fillmore in the 70's..
Damn, ruru. You're old!
no shit
OOOh ru, good one
It was unbelievable
Ouch
LOL! Seen some comedians too. Guess that could count. George Carlin, Jay Leno.
What I would give for a CD of that show
Jackie Mason!
i don't like big shows, one of the best for me was ravi shankar early 70's
I thought Clapton was going to burst into flames
I really want to see Jimmy Buffet some day.
And George Carlen
<--was a little stoned though
We used to have a great small venue here, The Warner Theater, but they don't have concerts there anymore. I saw Little Feat there twice.
Clue for the cr9?
I love Little Feat
a great blues song
cr9...speaking of Eric Clapton...
i think clapton covered it
cr9 angry streets
Got it on the Clapton reference. Ty. :-))
I have the CD of one of Clapton's cr9 concerts. Ungodly good stuff.
He's one of the very greatest guitarists in the world
Yeah, Clapton is outrageously talented. Any of his live stuff is magic to the ears.
Or the DVD, duh
Yeah but there so many guitar heroes. I'd love to see Tom Morello play
Stevie Ray Vaughn. RIP.
I always was blown away by Phil Manzanera In Roxy Music too.. he's another great guitarist
hi all. I saw the super moon last night. it was an awesome sight.
and I am stuck with 76 left
isn't it full tonight?
I saw it too, Peri. Arrrroooooo!
Hi Peri, it's just a moon. : D
I have not been to a concert in many years but I have seen James Taylor, Bette Midler, and Joan Baez.
Isaw Joan Baez in the grocery store once
lol, onyx. Not a concert. Doesn't count.
I am not sure but I think I saw Joanie Mitchell too
I know...
lol, peri good drugs or age?

Oh, I just remembered another concert. Eddie Money.

My # 2 concert of all time was Al Green
Now i'm jealous
<---Loves Al Green
Al Green is awesome!
the best voice ever. the one I really wanted to see was Aretha. but it never worked out
his voice is still great
Sigh. The Firefly Music Fest is going on right this very minute in Dover, Delaware. A scant 30 miles away from us. Alas, we are not hip enough.
I love the version of "Put A Little Love In Your Heart" that Al Green and Annie Lennox do at the end of "Scrooged"
the best female voice i ever saw was Kiri Te Kanawe...
I love Annie Lennox too
I've never heard of her Doren?
I was not impressed with the Firefly lineup this year.
opera. legendary from New Zealand
oh
Ticket prices are so high and i am so short, all i ever see is the back of the person in front of me, cuz everyone stands, that's why i prefer smaller venues
I saw Lewis Black last year for my birthday
she did a recording of west side story with placido domingo and jose carreras with bernstein conducting them. fabulous
Don't like Tom Petty, don't like The Red Hot Chili Peppers and can't stand The Lumineers. The rest are all alias bands.
we have a great small theater in Napa called the Uptown
Not that I tried, Molly, but tickets to Firefly sold out almost instantly.
you saw lewis black two years ago ruru.
was it two? oops getting older
god, no, it was 2010 that I was out there
yeah I guess it was a few years back
*snort* Fogie!

Or is that "fogey" ??
i will be out again next summer i think
Oh man, this is getting like that old folks song "Ah Yes, I Remember It Well"
oh cool
one is a fogey, two is fogies. and you have at least two of them here right now, judi
Count me in. I turn 49 on Monday. Fogeyville, here I come.
the years are ramming together now for me these days
my son david is moving out there... no job for either him or his wife but they'll find something. Her sister lives in Napa, parents in Viejo, so they will most likely be in the SF area
*signs Judi up for AARP magazine*
Judi, sorry, but 49 is still young now.. talk to us in ten years (if we remember who you are, or who we are, by then)
Gaaah! No AARP. Evil! Evil!
Isn't he teaching in DC?
That is tomorrow Judi. Live it up while you can.
lolololol
That's Jeremy... he's at John Hopkins, Baltimore.
oh
My husband has been throwing out his AARP propaganda for four years now.
Eh...DC...Baltimore...you were close
David's the librarian. in other news... Rachel and her boyfriend bought a house together last Monday (at least their offer was accepted, and the house inspection came out well). Then he broke up with her Friday night. Not good
oh jesus
Oh no, Dorens! That's terrible. Sounds like somebody got a major case of cold feet.
Judi, I actually quit AARP, it seems like all they want to do is sell me insurance which I don't want. They are so obnoxious
*wonders how in the hell westie got to 31
yeah, and I'm not allowed to ask her questions. ( I did however get to ask her if it's okay to be royally pissed off at him) we'll talk later I'm sure. She's moving back to Brooklyn next week
I think I've convinced hubby to sign up with AMAC, Dorens.
what's AMAC? (asks the woefully ignorant doren)
Better yet, we could win the lottery and tell all the blood-sucking retirement lobbyists to F-off.
AMerican Association of (old) Codgers
Like AARP, only for conservatives. Google and read up.
wouldn't that be AMAGB?
oh gosh, if it's for conservatives it isn't for me. will read up someday soon, right now i need to go outside and clean the patio furniture (having friend for dinner) and then have to toodle on down to the lake and kayak. later, all
Don't say conservative in here Judi, you will get things thrown at you.
Not quite, ruru. HA HA. I think it's Association of Mature American Conservatives.
I know, Molls. That's okay. Since liberals have all of my money anyway, they can throw that at me.
no molly i don't think so. we are all allowed our own political beliefs, and I think we're all mature enough to be able to deal with each other's differneces

Ack Ack. We have to stop using the mature word. Someone will start stocking the PB with oat bran and Metamucil.
well, those that can't handle it.... that' s their problem, but I wouldn't allow them to keep me from saying anything
*sets Judi up on a conference call with Wilfred Brimley
haha, sorry judi. how about "wise"? "experienced" "evolved"
I'll take evolved for 500, Alex.
Mellow, we 60's kids are mellow.
i really DON"T want to go out their and clean the furniture. Evolved will work, judi.
I heard somebody say fogey, so here I am!

Don't worry Ruby, you didn't do anything.

No foot in mouth issues Ruby. People just don't seem to like being reminded of that.
I believe you Ruby. :)

I still believe Ruby.

I had the great honour of meeting him in 2003, when the Special Olympics were held here.
That is a great honor, and one to tell the grandkids.
For sure. We hosted a Special Olympian from Botswana that year. My kids were young, and the whole experience was very positive. Host families were invited to the President of Ireland's home- Aras an Uachtaran- to meet the dignitaries. I also met Eunice Kennedy Shriver!
Ah, you met good people, and so did your kids.

Good Afternoon, Everyone! How are you on this hot humid day?
Hello nef. I have my sweater handy for the sunshine has forgotten to rise hre in the great Northwest.
hi nef, mere...
Hello all...started this morning, but a nap called me away...here to babble for a moment between housecleaning.
HI stidg! We are trying (but not succeeding) to dry out a bit here.
Hi penquis. Hi nef and jilly. Coming back to grid after a late lunch.
*Sets the timer for Jill*
I'm fighting off napping now myself, Jilly. Our grandson was here the past 3 days and we've had way too much rain. I'm pretty exhausted right now. But also thankful we didn't get water damaged at our house
Thanks Molly...I do get distractec in here..
Its a phantom-ridden grid for sure.
Well I've started now; so ought to work on it for a bit anyway.
BTW nef, the nap did revive me...
I have to work tomorrow, Jilly. A nap would keep me up too late tonight and I'll be dragging tomorrow. SO I'D RATHER NOT NAPAFTER 4PM EVEN IF IT'S ONLY FOR A FEW MINUTES.
...and grid using some weird babble words I haven't seen for a while.
SORRY! Didn't mean to yell!
IT'S OKAY NEF!!!!
(Now I was chatting in the wrong box!) Maybe I shouldget off my balance ball and rest a few minutes in the lazy boy....
Playing Babble on a balance ball????
I use a balance ball as a chair at the computer. Sometimes I try to stand while typing too.
All for now. Apparently nap time. Enjoy the afternoon!
Enjoy the rest of your day, Gran Mere.
bye stige. HAGD
brb; phone call.
back again. My daughter has her power back on again now (she lives in a older MPLS suburb of Minneapolis). My friend living about 2 miles east of us got her power back last evening about 8PM; but my friend living 2 miles west of us won't have her power back on tip Tues. or Wed. she was told. Luckily, our power only flickered a few times in Friday's storm but stayed on through the whole weekend!

And their little "like" friends.

I'd be proud of it, Molly.
I'd be proud of it, Molly.
And hi to RB and whomever else I've missed too!
Hello Nef :-)
Can anyone tell me why George Zimmerman only has six on his jury?
Actually, I laugh at it since it was a "takes one to know one" moment.
they only do 12 for Capital cases bzz.. 6 for civil cases
Hi Nef and all--I gave you a cr clue, nef, but I don't think you noticed it--the stake one.
<----- am repeating myself, I know, but every time I see your profile pic, Ru, I find myself doing a double take!
Molly; I was just going to tell you the same thing you said. Some people are unhappy with things; either at a specific time or else all the time. I don't let it bother me normally.
But then again; sometimes it hurts. :-(
want to hear about my korean adventures soodle?
Thanks, ru. Didn't realize it was a civil case.
Been there, done that Ru!!
It's a hopeless case. Already been tried by the media.
he's not getting the death penalty bzz
RB; I totally missed it! I was thinking something about a crematory and couldn't ake it work..
how about my miraculous recovery from Malaria and death
I'm all ears. Everyone here believes fantastic stories.
ruru, what is going on now?
:D just jiving around with soodle nef :D
nef, he's telling "jesse"'s stories, i think
hey.. they bring people back in TV shows
<-----always loves the recovery from death stories!
LOLOLOL
How about the almost died three times stories? Those are always good.
it's a pretty nasty reference anyway.. I'm off to eat with friends and watch Inspector Lewis. Thundering here. Tried to call my MLPs cousins to see how they were doing with the rain but no answer--
I don't know who jesse is. I do know who's last icon he's using though. And I've told ruru that I'd chatted with NB for many years too.
Round Barn, we've had over 5 inches total here in 3 different storms
we've had no damage (to us) but too many people have power outages.
Nef, Jesse was the supposed real name of Nancy Boy. Nancy Boy was a fake person here. He never existed. He was made up by nasty people who posted here.
lots of talk on it in chat--we had ours last week--
But was he always fake Molly? He turned pro back in 2007; that's an awful long time for a trick fake person
people tend to trust on this place... why would you think i'm not who i say I am?
I'm so glad we had our trees cut down (due to disease or dead limbs) over the past few years.
Always fake. All the pictures are of a Japanese actor, Jun Matsumoto. And that is not the only fake person posting here.
LOL, Dorens. Maybe I'm just that gullible I guess. I really tend to believe people here (but not necessarily on some other sites)
well, everyone uses a nickname and an avatar...i don't feel fake, but penquis is not my name... ;o)
i think we all do, nef. There was just something about him that didn't ring true. For a kid his age to talk the way he did--- that made me suspicious
But Molly, my icon isn't me; and I'd never think that cross or ruru or tor or others actually looked like who they are.
it's the internet...public access....bound to pick up some weirdos at times....claiming to be someone they are not, trying to impress, etc....
That is not the point Nef. Anyone can use any icon they want. Anyone can tell any tall tales they want. Claim to be anyone they say they are.
yes pen, and it is also sickies... The person pretending to be Jessie seemed a lot like the person calling himself JC. And he was not a picture of mental health
But I really am a puppet robot with a toy gumball machine for a head ..
Dorens nailed it...sickies...and...not the picture of mental health.
Well, I never did believe JC. (Still can't figure out this Jessie though..
i am a psychologist by trade (really)....i run across a lot of people i have doubts about...guess I tend to be a sKeptic anyway....
of course you are
Nef, how can you say that you chatted with Nancy Boy and never knew that his supposed real name was Jessie? I don't understand.
i wish i weren't as skeptical as I am, but I am and Molly, maybe she has forgotten? I've sure forgotten more important things than that in the last few years
Because back when he started here he never called himself anything but NB. It was only later that he said he was Jessie. I never wrapped my mind around that
I joined here in 2005; in 2007 (when NB finally joined) I was recuperating from 2 foot surgeries and we chatted a lot back then.
(I was pretty addicted to Babble at that time)
Nef, you don't seem to want to believe that the person who called himself Nancy Boy was fake. If that is what you need to do, so be it. But he wasn't real. He was the fabrication of a sick person's mind.
I have this bridge for sale you might want to take a look at Nef.. when you have time :D
I guess I hate to think that I'm that bad a judge of character. :-(
you weren't the only one Nef.. I was fooled for a long time too
then things started to change
We all do Nef. I fell for Nancy Boy just like the rest of the group did. It's not on you, it's on the sick person who fabricated the fake poster.
I think about all the $$ Dr G is making off all these created personalities :D
we've talked before about this ruru; I told you that I thought there was a change in his personality somewhere along the line. Do you ever wonder if he was real (initially) and then someone took over his person here?
nope
Well, I hope he's making $$ off them instead of someone stealing someone else's identity (and not paying to play!
Neither do I.
I think once JC was more or less banished from the kingdom.... he started lashing out as Nancy Boy
Every time Ru puts that icon up, he gets the reaction "take it down, I don't want to be reminded of that". Plenty of people here are embarrassed about how they were fooled by Nancy Boy.
I've become a HUGE Jun Masimoto fan of late :D
I'm not embarassed by having been fooled. I just don't really like remembering the evil that was perpetrated. And Nef, believing what someone puts in the chat log and being fooled does not make you a bad judge of character. You can't judge character in someone you've never met, can you?
It's as simple as this. I could log out of here right now, go find a picture of Angelina Jolie, pay 15 more bucks and log back in as Angelina Jolie.
exactly, and who would do that but an evil sick person?
hey ru is the fox benefit tonight?
very true.. But it makes me sad that there are sick people doing that.
last night
*gets collagen for Molly's lips*
Yes Dorens, especially here where people are (for the most part) very nice and caring. The Nancy Boy hoax was an exploitation of that. Which is why I found it so disgusting.
what did you serve?
some really expensive wines :D
"fox benefit?"
To Holly Locklear
2010 David Arthur wines.. Elevation 1147, their Chardonnay, and some bubbly
Michael J Fox Foundation Nef
was that benefitting fox; eating fox, or what?
LOL thank god I didn't call her Holly
yup molly, i found it disgusting as well. and that's why i don't like the reminder. I had tried to tell a few people back when he was "alive" that I thought he was JC and they found the idea repulsive, but seemed to be offended by my suggestion, rather than look at it and believe it. Nice people, intelligent people, being fooled. Not a happy remembrance
Ahh! Great organization!
benefiting research on Parkinson's Disease
I remember that Doren
most of them thought so. I remember one who thought it possible.... back in 2010 in CA
It was the slap down of Ruby that woke me up
Yes, but if there is no reminder, then people just keep on believing in the unbelievable stuff.
we raised $400,000 I think last night Nef
don't think i saw the slap down of ruby, was that when he was still "alive"?
yes
that is terrific ru.
I know, ruru. Michael J Fox has really brought attention to a terribly debilitating disease. I'm so glad that they are learning so much about it
i worked my ass off last night
250 people for an extensive dinner
I must have opened 100 bottles of wine
maybe more
WOW, ruru! That's fantastic!!
it may have been hard work, but did you get to serve holly locklear?
I did.. she was actually very nice
There is a common theme in these fake people who post here. They get pissed off about animals who are not rescue dogs and they get pissed off about people who eat red meat. Among other things.
Emilio Estevez was there and another movie star.. Richard something
so it was all worth it. (even tho i still don't know who she is.. holly or heather - i don't remember knowing her)
How many courses were there (since you said "extensive")
and they're gay molly
why arer you calling me holly? you know my name is heather, I just play as owl to avoid the fans :)
LOL TO
gotta run now. rofl, owl
I didn't really know her name until yesterday
Oh yeah, the whole gay or related to gay people thing.
hey hey, doren. see you soon i hope
Hi Heather!
yup, but my firend is here for dinner now. adios

how's the patio?
hi TO
uh oh,, I'm a red meat eater.....................
Kitchen cleaned....molly, set the timer again...babble break
How do you say tofu in german?
i actually stopped taking fb friends as a result of the troubles, at least if they are not actual persons in my life.
so anyone who has a pending request and is a babbler... also had to unfirend because of connections. sad.

Camping usually is overnight or more...
definitely an overnight endeavor
he asked me to lunch, then to a family funtion if i had no plans then camping. wtf
Depends. One tent, two tents? Two sleeping bags, double sleeping bag?

hi all! Frank and I are back from our weekend retreat - had an amazing time!!
hi...
hi sue, that is good to hear
i was just so surprised. have only seen him once since, and talked about the weather. he used to help out but that will be over soon.
I *might* go IF 1) I wasn't married; 2) I had my own tent and sleeping bag; 3) he's a nice person (though maybe my judgement is questionable); 4) it's at a state park and not somewhere very isolated; 5) there are others going too; and 6) I had a can of pepper spray along.
oh, good, sue
well TO guess he wants to not bother with the prelim and go right for it how often do you even talk to this guy
Hi sue! Glad you had a great time!
it was for cancer survivors and their caregivers, at a local retreat center, and was really wonderful - there were just 10 of us there, plus the two organizers
Nef...Ms. Stipulations
LOL nef. i thank you, i wondred if i had jumped to conclusions about this. he could not possibly be that disingenuous
well, Molly, it always helps to know the rules at the beginning of a trip; doesn't it?
and if he gets cold and asks for a blanket,,,,, well......
o.O
i just think that jolke is very cute, it tickles my funny bone.
I've been laughing ever since I read it!
before I was married I had some guy friends and we'd camp and hie etc. even in the wilderness. I was always very straight up with them and I had my own tent and sleeping bag. I didn't have pepper spray though; (I guess I've always trusted people....
i got it from one of our aussie babblers. hardly see her here anymore
nef, there is no reason to accept this invitation no matter what the intent. none whatsoever.
then don't. If you have no reason to accept it; why even consider it?
I do a lot of stuff with guy friends. I don't have to ask what the rules are, because we all know already.

de6/24
Before we were married, a guy friend was getting out of the Air Force and travelling through Minneapolis on his way home. I invited him to stay a day or 2 with me to see the Twin Cities; and I was dating DH at the time. He was jealous (but he never told me tip later!) that some other guy was staying at my place; but he came over after L. got here and he took us to Dinky Town (on the U of MN campus); and then dropped L and me off and said Good Night and left. He knew that we wer just friends and there wouldn't be anything else once he met L. and saw us together.
You fix my door, I make you dinner to repay the kindness. Where does sex figure into that?
well sorry to bore you all, i think i will go get a short walk then dessert.
Just lost my water at "Dinky Town"
say what?
still looking for de 6/24, peri?
someone else asked for it, pen, not me
why, Molly? That's a funky part of the U campus. (Jeez, is that a term for something I don't know??? EVERYONE knows the area & neighborhood by that name)
Good morning / good evening all :)
i am afraid to ask what dinkly town is
it is just funny, nef.
ah....guess i missed that....thanks, peri...
okay....
Jeff, did you get the de6 for the lone d?
I just Googled it; I guess it's 1 word, not 2
♪Let me take you to♫ Dinky Town ♪
LOL, Molly! Maybe that's what Prince's first words were for that song! :-D
Happy to see you singing again, Molly :)
it is just a funny funny name, how on earth did it originate?
That is not Prince. That is Lipps, Inc. A one hit wonder band.
ke tme take you to ...funky town
True, Molly. Steven Greenburg wrote Funky Town
Liz, I never stop singing. People can be as weird and creepy as they want to be. It doesn't bring me down.
I goofed
Yay Molly. Keep on singing! Wish everyone did!
TO, Dinkytown has been called that since at least the 1940's and there are many possible reasons for it (I looked on Wikipedia). It's a great place that is different from any other neighborhood here
(BTW, Molly, Funky Town waswritten here in MPLS; but didn't get played on the radio here for a long time because the radio stations thought it was "too black" for Minnesotans!

ty-Eric is my kinda lookalike
Really? Sheryl Crow is my kinda lookalike. : P
Can't believe how many really simple words I've missed!
when china beach was on, dana delany was mine
Molly, the other thing about the Twin Cities in 1980 (when Funky Town was a hit) was that I believe there were more inter-racial marriages here than any other mid-sized city in the US (I want to say "any" US city; but I can't find that in a quick search)
Dana Delaney has been in "Body Of Proof" lately.
yes, we but we have rown apart over the years :)
Dana wore some wicked shoes in that show.
I've ever seen China Beach and so many other show from that era. Working eves and nights (with young kids) I rarely saw any popular TV shows back then
okey dokey, break time. bbl
I wonder how many of those shows would be on Netflix; and which ones would be even fun to watch these days?
wicked shoes like Stid's?
i watched The Streets of San Francisco on tv this afternoon....
Um, no. Not at all.
Michael Douglas was cute....Karl Malden not so much....
Michael Douglas...I can't go there...not after what he just said about how he got throat cancer. : O
how did he get throat cancer?
i hear ya...
smoking?
He claimed it was from oral sex.
hpv, which causes cervical cancer as well
I would imagine it would be a cause of it
wow
(or I should say: a "possible cause")
Hi all...Molly, I think he later clarified his intended comments indicated that oral sex COULD cause it...it is not the ONLY cause.
<--now worried about cancer
perhaps he should also have mentioned that drinking, smoking, frig, even breathing toxic air can also cause it.
just watched Michael douglas and Matt Damon in the story about Liberace I do not know even acting how they could kiss and have sex scenes like they did
Hey, I didn't say he was right. I just mentioned what he said.
i don't know if there is evidence for this or just anecdotal evidence
No, but he did not specify that oral sex was the cause of his throat cancer...he merely indicated that it is one of the causes.
I was at a friend's houseparty last evening and one of the women there had tongue cancer and had part of the left side of her tongue removed about 6 months ago. Her mother sent her a box of pistachios; and she ended up with the same white spot on the right side of her tongue. Her oncologist thinks she has a type of cancer caused by an allergy to nuts! (She will be having this patch removed this next week).
wouldn't Madonna be dead already if it were true?
wow...weird....

Ah. I was wondering what I'd missed there for a minute, ruru!
Looks like an evening thunderstorm for us...
I understand Montana weather now jilly
the crystal bowls are played kind of like Tibetan singing bowls (or like the edges of wine glasses); they make a pleasant and rather musical sound
Crystal bowl music is not for everyone, but it's very soothing.
LOL ruru, yup....just wait 5 minutes and it'll change..
while I'm really glad you had a great weekend and learned a lot Sue.. crystal stuff is a bunch of hoo-hah to me
brb...phone
I agree about magic crystals; these were more like musical instruments, and I enjoyed them as such
da 6/24?
whatever is a de-stressor is a good thing
Healing from crystals is not "magic" it's about vibration. Again, it's not for everyone. Especially people who don't believe in it.
da 6 is a plural
plural of da5/14, penquis
If you lived next to Marin Molly ... you wouldn't say that
ty... i thought i had asked if it was a combo word, but guess not....
some people say weemees vibrate ... but it's not for everyone either :D
back
well, these crystal bowls were in fact vibrating (that's how they make sound), and did so quite pleasantly. After playing the woman sang, and that was quite pleasant as well.
fireworks!
The second da5/14 and da6/24 are not a combo. That was my answer to your question Pen.

I am well, Min -- we FINALLY have a really solid idea for the kitchen floor plan/workflow, so I can focus now on the specific types of cabinets and bins we need. And it's raining really hard and we are all inside... :-) you?
Do U know how many letters your D is? There are a couple.
May I please have a clue for ar5-12 the 1st? Thanks
