Hi puglet, was just away cleaning up kitchen
Hi Flosey-I thought all had left

ah, thanks lickety
okay thanks
Lickety to the rescue!

good morning
Hey there Ruby!
good morning ruby
}}big hugs for flosey and little pug!}}
((hugs back ruby))
sorry lost my connection here--Big hug to you Ruby
I did, too, pub
husband gave me a scare yesterday, complained of chest pains but I think he is just getting a cold and was feeling neglected
pug*
Ive been having trouble with this site for a few days--but I think its due to our weather
what is happeneing with your weather?
well I hope thats all it is Ruby
weve been having thunderstorms allmost everyday sometimes more then one
let's hope you don't get tornados but, hopefully, you're too far east
It has been very hot and muggy along with them but yesterday and today we have gotten a break from the 90's. SO glad too.
it's unseasonably cold here and it rained all of yesterday, but todayis cold and sunny and the flower are wonderful
just no fruit this year I think
they are calling for storms most of this up coming week too
how are your vegetables coming? My tomato plants are pathetic little scraggly things
I took a little walk last night and picked a few berries to put in a dish of ice cream----It just hit the spot
Everything is looking great. Now we are afraid that all this rainy weather might start rotting some of it
our strawberries are tiny and hard except for the bigger ones which are "previously eaten" and the raspberries are waterlogged
I found this wild plant that just came up out of the blue----never seen it before--but it looks just like a wild strawberry plant with tiny berries on it
we have those, too, they are invasive and get yellow flowerws before the berries, but the berries have no taste at all
and the strangest thing I went to a friends a few miles from me and she had some growing in her yard too
I think our climates are similar but maybe a little colder here
is it a wild flower
I like cooler weather! Cant stand this hot stuff
I think it's just a weed, although I was really happy when I first saw it as wild strawberries are wonderful! No such luck
however, since this is my first garden, I'm no expert!
yeah I know--those wild berries has such a sweeter and richer taste--there use to be gobs of them but with all the farmer spraying now a days they are almost non exsitint any more
Iam just waiting for the first tomato to ripen to have a dish of cottage cheese and lots of pepper along with it--lol
last year I had so many tomatoes that I gave them away. This year, I don't think I'll have any
where I grew up, until I was 12, we had a huge field, on hill opposite our home, full of wild strawberries - we could pick all morning and mom would make a shortcake
started out in a valley in Ontario, ended up in valley in BC
was it a little bit marshy?
At home we lived along the railroad tracks and mom would take us kids and we would all pick strawberries and blackberries
no, a creek ran through and it would swell in spring but we were on a higher plateau
I spent one year in Princeton and that's where I picked wild strawberries, but never very many
here on small island, off BC coast, have a creek running through our property but would never cause problems
when hubby was a kid, salmon use to swim up to spawn, seldom see them anymore
your island sounds beautiful!
your place sounds lovely Flosey
it is, ruby - hubby was born/raised here - we have part of the farm, it was divided/4 kids but on a very generous farmland
alf, but no 8's or 9 and stil no nbt
snap, pug
I have an9/54, dy8/55, na8/40, ne8/40 - those are the biggies tonight
then there are 3 7s
ty, I'll at least know where to look
ad7/32 fl7/40 ro7/28
husband is astir so I had better go and see to him
bye for now
bye then Ruby--tc
bye ruby, good to see you
I feel like Im in slow motion this morning--lol
I'm definitely nodding off
22 to go, perhaps I can get them tomorrow
your days ending and mine is begining
do you want any clues before I leave, pug?
no Thanks I got 87 to go
ok, off until tomorrow, enjoy the grid puglet
have a good night of rest and a great day tomorrow
thanks, and you enjoy your day
thanks--good night
*tapping gently on screen* anyone here?
Hi roase
hello dianne, how are you, dear?
ME ME ME! lol
HI Rose and Dianne
lol, hello pugs
It's hot, hot here so I am staying inside today.
good place to be, by the sounds of it....inside i mean...but i wouldn't mind a little bit of warmth over here.
Rose - what happened about the sick leave situation?
33 C is a bit too hot when it is also extremely humid.
*giggle* as don says to the canary every morning as he uncovers his cage ( the canary's, not don's) it's a good thing you're an inside bird, psycho.
its been hot and muggy here too.But we got a little break from it yesterday and today
Yet we've had storms almost everyday
dianne, what my supervisor meant, was , that we were to take sick leave PENDING workcover payment. which means we still have an income while not able to work, and the workcover re-imburses the company and we get our sick leave hours back.
Is the brace still helping
ugh, on the humidity for you both...don't think i would like that at all.
And the workcover will absolutely remburse the moeny? Then it's a win/win situation Good.
I HATE IT!! Iam not a hot weather person
yes, pugs. although last night i was a tad defiant, and decided not to wear it overnight. i paid for it today. won't be doing that again in a hurry, i can tell you.
We might have a typhoon heading in our direction which wll bring some rain and hopefully cool things off a bit.
oh, please be careful of your dear self, dianne.
Ive been having trouble with my computer's connections due to our weather
we are begining to worry about our veggies rotting due to all the rain before they ripen
I don
t think it will be too close - just close eough for rain and maybe some gusty winds.
*I don't thin........ (or type too well eighter)
trouble here too, but not because of the weather. because himself is home all day , he is on his computer from 0745 til 2200 everyday. all the downloading he does, impacts on our allowance. *sigh* we are on a VERY slow speed at the moment.
I understand that - with this extreme hot weather I can't imagine what our next electric bill will be like.
thats better then him out running the streets --isnt it -lol
I myself am running abit sluggish as well--lol
too true, pugs. he does have to stay in and around the house in case his mum (who lives with us) needs him.
puglet I hate the humidity and heat to I HATE OHIO WEATHER!
I understand those feelings! I love the spring and fall and winter until it gets too cold--and good morning Shorty
good morning pug, I feel the same way
I dont run our air here due to everyone else is cold nnature--so when it gets too much I go to the river
oh thats terrible they run around here with blankets wrapped around them cause its so cold in here,LOL
they do that here and nothing is running but fans--lol
lol
on those 90 days I got three fans on me--lol and they are just starting to warm up
May I please have a clue for dy8-55? Thanks
right now my hubby and sister are having their coffee outside wearing wintercoat and sister has on her heavy plush robe--lol
lol
good day Peach--I dont have that but Rose is sure too if shes still here
Thank you for looking, puglet.
sorry, was away doing jigsaws, dy8, right?
dy + ***ural, not false + ***ald reagan
There you go, being wonderful again.....thanks

btw, the last 6 letters are a word on their own, peach

Love your icon, feenixcat.
Just started, Puglet..only one i have so far.

Thanks for that Jellen.
Very cute, indeed.

I will have to tell her there are others--she'll be glad of that-lol
Well, dear people, it's after 5:00AM....so I must try to find the other 18 later today. Thanks so much for all the help.
Sweet dreams, Peach :-)
Have a good day Peach
Oh yes..sorry have a good day...if it was me and it was 5:00am...i would be asleep :-)
later, peach. if not, after the flip
good morning, babble friends :)
Hello, Sprite..how are you feeling now...Any better?
{{{Sprite}}} morning
*hugs rose and zooz and puglet* Yeah I am ok, body is sore but spirit is strong.
and how are you all doing today?
watching our recording of motoGP which was run last night, from spain. one of the riders, lorenzo, is riding with a plate and screws in his fractured collar bone. he must be high on pain killers.
ouch rose...
ooohhhh, sprite. my dear girl, are you feeling better?
What happen to you Sprite(if you dont mind me asking)
am pretty good today, rose. And you? How are the work issues progressing?
Not too bad thanks..only worry so far is debating with myself to take or not take an allergy tablet it not...hayfever just tickling my nose..lol
take the tablet, zooz. Better now than when it is really bad, it takes so much energy otherwise.
Good point...will do.
pug: nothing major, don't worry. Just a bit of the flu and a clumsy fall.
work okay, thanx sprite. it seems the new unit manager got the wrong end of the stick. if i am unable to work, i take sick leave, pending workcover. workcover then re-imburses the company, and i get back my sick leave hours. it means my income stays the same, no matter what.
I knew about the flu...not another fall, Sprite....you really need to look after yourself.
Sprite been wanting to run into you to let you in on the thing with Gradyn. His mom came and got him on the first monday of this month and ended up taking him back to his dad's cause all he did was cry
rose, that is wonderful news. Am so glad you don't have to worry. Let the new unit manager worry, grin... she is going about her new job the wrong way.
I know, zooz, grin. I try. Silly body isn't always cooperating.
are you and Rose related Sprite--lol
((Sprite))
oh puglet *hugs to you and Gradyn* I am sorry he had to go through that. But happy that his mum brought him back.
talking about tickled nose..try this one...i asked himself to fill the humidifier of my CPAP with distilled water. he didn't check the bottle and filled it with cleaning vinegar. i was too tired last night to say anything. of course, it's all my fault for putting the vinegar and water together on the same shelf.
lol... yes, rose and I are related... in spirit and soul. Not bloodwise though.
so are we---I just hope she wasent cruel to him because of it
OMG! ,Rose!
rose... jeezzzzzz! Himself can READ, right? Next time let him correct his mistake before you go to sleep?
You house must smell abit sour then--lol Rose
*giggle* pugs, as sprite says, linked in spirit and soul.
Himself needs a kick up the backside.
the real giggle?? the smell of vinegar made HIM sneeze all night.
pug... she might have been. But even if she were, at least Gradyn has 'won' by making her take him back. On some level he took control and that is very important in cases like this.
Well said, Sprite.
whahahaha... omg rose, that is priceless. Poor you... poor himself.
yay for graydn....i'm so proud of him...please tell him so, pugs
Iam just glad she done that and not forced him to stay
Oh i missed that bit....serves him right, Rose..teehee
yes, from me too, please, pug. He is a very strong and precious boy.
hello?
Hello, Ruby :-)
oh YAY the gang's all here
hello.... is it me you're looking for? I can see it in your eyes... Oh... hi ruby :) *hug*
{{zzoozz}}
well at least it wasn't the industrial chlorine which we bought to kill off the mozzies in the water pits....
{{sprite}}
I will Rose! His dad just got approved for a house loan so they are going to be moving into their own home soon
welcome back Ruby
{{rosie}}
{{{RUBY}}}} xoxoxox
Thanks, Sprite..now i got that ruddy tune stuck in my head.
arrrghh... so have I, zooz. Sowwy ;)
oh, pugs, i have goose-bumps all over with that news. how wonderful!!
awesome, pug! That is wonderful.
Rose your new baby is getting close here --isnt it
Rose is pregnant????
rofl!
*giggles*
I think i have the wrong end of the stick..lol
ROFLOL!!!!
ruby, has Burt fully recovered?
pugs, dear, next month.....getting very excited. zooz, grandkiddy #3 due then.
He got spooked with minor chest pain yesterday and really scared me. Not he just seems to have a nasty cold. I am being very watchful, listening to his cough.
sorry Rose for putting you on the burner
af
besides, the equipment is missing, but the playground is still there.
Ahh got it..thanks..teehee
nothing like a good laugh, pug :)
The last time he got pneumonia, I spotted it early enough so had the doctor here within an hour and he was on antibiotics very fast so didn't have to go to the hospital
ruby: that is wise. He is so very fragile that way. *hugs* for you and for him.
rose! :D God, I love that woman.
he looks (and sounds) awful
will be thinking of you both, ruby. I think you are right to be worried.
aww, ruby. it's awful, isn't it? we have to listen to mother mac...sometimes it's just asthma, and others it's a genuine chest infection. the trick is to call it right.
well, I'd say in case of doubt, let the doctor come. Better safe than sorry and all that6.
I took his pressure yesterday but then, to verify that the machine was correct, I took mine and it was waaaay high
evening beautiful people
Be sure to take care of yourself Ruby while going through all this--prays for you both
156/100
hiya moonwoof :)
Howdy Moon
cooeee moon. how's things, hun?
woof, woof
falling asleep waiting for the flip is suboptimal
Hello, Moonwoof.
thank you puglet
that is way too high, ruby, get yourself checked stat. High blood pressure does way too much damage to let go unchecked for a while.
dinner.....bbl
enjoy, rose!
ooo! lookit all the great ladies tonight!
enjoy Rose!
as it happens, I have a checkup tomorrow and I'll tell her about the wide fluctuations
and zooz ^^
good girl, ruby *hug*
hagd rose!
ya think, woof?
Enjoy your meal, Rose.
going to unch now, to the place we took you on the lake, sprite
*woof*
<--- loves zooz
I know! This is like... a cheeky tea party wet dream
*foow*
enjoy, ruby. Great place to eat.
{{zzoozz}}
have a good luch Ms Foo!
you enjoy too Ruby and take care
Bye, Ruby..enjoy your meal.
and there's even a little sun, if somewhat wan
But then I shall amend all that to say Hello Gorgeous Ladies and Excellent Sir Sprite likes That Ive Not Quite Met Yet ^^
Which I will now shorten to zooz
Moon..call me what you like..i am thick skinned :-)
name that proper name: landlocked microstate in Southwestern Europe, located in the eastern Pyrenees mountains, principality near Spain and France
morroco
hehehe... zooz rocks, moonwoof. Very much so.
nah, you're not, zooz. You are a beautiful, sensitive man.
I happen to like thick skinned, really. much for fun to tease when noone takes it too seriously
I nearly said a phantom word..meaning to go round & round..but realised it extends to RO7/28
andora
morrocco is not correct...
I love dry sense of humour.
dingdingding! PMS wins... andorra!
I was going to say Andora too.
I suspected not... But Im pretty sure Id rather go to morocco ^^
thanks for that 7
yw :-)
the 'name that proper noun' game must always lead to a word found in the grid.
Sorry to leave but going to the carboot sales..parents love them..so i hold them up while we walk around..plus i am beginning to like them...bye for now..Happy babbling.
A mini game! Very nice. Are there other rules? (best to get this sorted straight away)
have fun at the boot sales! And nice to meet you in a brief and virtual way, Mr Zooz
*grin* nah, not really. It shouldn't lead to a word that is valid, is all, I think.
have fun ZOOz!
sounds fun, zooz. You are a wonderful son.
Then i should have said nerdy... cause I keep wanting it to be in here.
talc
oops Hate when I do that--sorry
that would be a phantom then, moonwoof... a word that is almost in the grid (and keeps bugging you)
don't worry, puglet. It's the site that is to blame. not you.
yeah Like I keep seeing tornado-lol
You know I cant say anything puglet ^^
yep... that is a life-size phantom indeed :)
do you have a clue to the N in the far right
not yet, will help look
thanks
na6/18 sounds like senior nurse in charge
hiya Chrissie :)
pugs, na8, someone who tells the story
thanks Dee
hello, chrissie
yw pug
the story teller is from the top T though
Wb rose. Again with chewing!
got it Thanks
Hi rose and everyone
nope, chrissie was right, and i was wrong. *sigh*
evening chrissie
yeah, moon, dinner is always around this time.
but youre so *quick*
ah found it, thanks again Chrissie
as i said am watching the recording of motoGP last night. it would appear valentino rossi has finally learned how to ride his yamaha. he's in first place.
are you a biker Rose
moon, learned to inhale food many years ago, during my nurse training
pugs...OH YEAH!!!!
((giggles))
You said that... but thats still QUICK
It may take me a bit to assimilate the speed required for that I guess lol
and I eat very slowly. If rose and I lived in the same house, I'd probably be still at the table when she'd come back for the next meal :)
did you make devil eggs Rose? lol--or rather easter eggs--you had plenty of hot vingar
moon, 30 minute meal break, working on the top floor of hospital, cafeteria on first floor, not allowed to use lift/elevator, only the stairs. doesn't leave a lot of time to eat slowly, especially when you have to wait in a queue in order to get said food in the first place.
agreed. I like how food tastes too much to go that quick, I think
lol, pugs
Im from a military family... and mom was a nurse. ive certainly heard stories... but none of them ever did that at home lol
Foto
Duh....
hehehe... foto = dutch for photo
{chrissie} Ive done it several days in a row. At least yours wasnt a word ^^
*giggle* just made himself smile. i asked him who was his favourite wife...
yay, back after hiccup time
same. That was much worse than last night's
talk about last night...i gaffed so many times..:(
it is usually a couple of minutes
lol rose!
and i hadn't even had 1 drink....
In order to gaff, I believe you need to blunder... and that would imply you lacked grace momentarily, which I refuse to believe is possible.
if I wasn't using the Babble Expert I would do the same thing
B.E seperates those? I should look into that this time around then... Ive stuck my foot in it several nights in a row, now
lol, moon, with this splint on...i am so totally graceless, last night was really weird. just couldn't co-ordinate between chog and grid.
Lickety has made a browser especially for babble (on Windows). It has a box in which you type, and when you type one word, it goes to the word list, and as soon as you type more than one separated by a space, it goes to the chat box.
I shant allow you to ruin my mental picture of you, yet. You can say that all you like and I will disavow it!
! Thats brilliant!
ty sprite. Im gonna have to look for it after this. I have made a postit accordingly
there is a link in my profile for it, moonwoof
You are still a goddess among women, tyvm
*giggles* Thanks moonwoof, that is a great tribute :)
Well its still fitting and Im certain Im not the only one to have noticed!
opinions of me differ, but I am glad you like me :)
I still very do, yes. And if they differ, they must be mistaken.
Eye of the beholder, milage varies, etc etc, but meh! Im smart and have great taste.
you are and you do, and we go wayyyy back.
and hey, I will simply believe I am too interesting to be universally loved ;)
Besides it made you giggle ^^
sprite, dear, you are okay by me, hun. we cannot all get on with another all the time. witness myself...there are some on here who simply don't like me. and that's okay...i recognise that everyone doesn't think the way i do...so let them be.
giggling is great.
Exactly! I owed you from the other night =D
you are so right, rose, and wise to boot. We have a saying in dutch that translates roughly like: 'There has never been a cook who can cook to please everyone's palate'
having said that....just don't let them attack my friends...
lolllll rose! No... that turn you into to human tigress, right?
Im being summoned to bed... How odd
But agreed rose. that's just not a terribly intelligent move. people should know better
how exciting, moonwoof! Enjoy. Make sure you remember all the sordid details to tell us later.

I still need a hammer for that, though.
hmmmm, giggling here...mind pictures are mind-blowing.
same here :D
reminds me of that joke... about the creation of Adam and Eve, while God was still distributing all the different traits he was bestowing on them. When the box was almost empty, He said: "I still have 2 things left... who would like to be able to pee standing up?:" And Adam elbowed Eve aside and yelled: "Me! Me!" "Okay," God said. "Then the multiple orgasm is for you, Eve."
ROFLOL....and so is himself
:)

Hi Annie, hi moonwoof!
Name that proper noun....actress Jessica *****
I wanna say rabbit and that cant be right lol
Tandy!
ding ding ding!
I liked mine better. But Im jaded ^^
I like Rabbit too
lol, moon
Whenever I play word associations games, people always end up looking at me funny lol
I bet your fun with Pictionary! ;)
thats usually so yea. and I always make a dork out of myself at charades too
i get accused of using sign when i play charades.
Oh nice!
and i'm the pits when it comes to Pictionary. can't draw stick figures! lol
i read a stick figure tutorial a while ago . Helped me greatly.
my artsy friends call my art primitive! they are being so kind! lol
"Primitive"...that's right up there with "interesting" : D
But better, cause most people don't say "interesting" when they look at caves. And caves are way cooler than the stuff I hear people say interesting about ^^
Annie, I met Jessica and Hume once. Charming people.
hiya, Molly. yup that's what i think too. they are too nice to tell me to stay in the kitchen!
Molly, what an experience. Where did you meet them?
At a champagne reception for them after one of their stage performances in Baltimore, years ago.
those two were the best! loved them both in everything they did.
Molly, I saw Jessica Tandy in A Street Car Named Desire years and years ago. She was awesome.
They were the best LBD. Loved what they did, down to Earth and not about being publicity hounds. The only celebrity couple that comes close to them these days is Amy Madigan and Ed Harris.
Nice Annie, I'm sure it was a great show.
Ed Harris in The Hours. What a preformance!
What a cast that movie has. Not only the three stars with the leading roles but Harris, Toni Collette, Allison Janney, Claire Danes.
Im losing it. I cannot think of the other star in the movie. Extremely fanous.
jessica rabbit!
Yes!
i knew it!
Except that didnt really help at all, huh?
didnt help but made me smile
Jeff Daniels?
thats wort it at least ^^
Are we thinking of the same movie? very famous, blond, keeps winning Oscars, early sixties, was in Sophies Choice........
Oh well she's one of the three leads, Meryl Streep.
I was getting bald, pulling my hair out. Thanks, Molly, how could I forget her
10 left and must get moving before it gets too hot. bbl to finish. hagd everyone!

na6/18 sounds like the female head of the house
oh left n. Sorry what hurshy said
Yerks. Must be going blind. ty Hursh
ty too Moonwolf
np. I just got fireflies. Anything else before I take off for brekky?
we often fail with a good clue because we tend to forget here in the usa and canada that many countrys up till recently we not super saturated with 400 tv stations.in the uk,i am am told, for many decades you had bbc #1 through #5 and three of the had football one had dr who and the other had coronation street lol
doctor who is all you need
Yay for Moonwolf!!
ahh the good doctor
But I lived there too, and thats just not quite right... they had Dr Who and red Dwarf and Eastenders and Ab Fab and Black Adder... theyre fibbing to you =P
my vote is with DR. WHO!
What if they made Dr. Who a woman this time?
don't forget top gear!
I think if they did that it would defeat a little of the good example the Dr does, really.
Loved Black Adder!
hehe what i really love is the american version vs the uk version of antiques roadshow. they are so reserved in the uk programme.."madam,that vase is worth 350 MILLION pounds!" "oh?..really?..how lovely" and that is it!
Can you name another male lead character who solves dramatic issues without any real violance?
shawn spencer
Gotta love the Brits.
I think he's an exceptional *male* role model and we dont have enuf like him.
i do indeed,hego,since i was born one
yea Hercule Poirot! (one of my favs)
Well,see Crossy, that proves it!
Theyre out there, but neither of those are nearly so well known as the Dr. And lets face it... shawn lies quite a bit lol
And of course Hercule.
but he's mostly lying just to be funny :)
i was born in watford just outside of london and we came over to canada in 1966
i gtg, see y'all later
Even Hecule used a firearm, tho, iirc
tc hurshy
cya hurshy
I can never remember Herc having a firearm.
I thought he just used his littke grey cells.
i wouldnt have a problem with a female doctor, at all... I just find him to be an excellent male role model for my nephews. And i would hate to see them lose that
bye for now
I just also know we have lots of strong female role models who are like that... and all of us intelligent people have still only come up with 3 males total.
cya christa, hagd
bye Christa
james herriot solved problems without violence in the bbc series
whenever i feel the need for a case of the warm fuzzies,i bring out his books
:-D
agreed. Loved all creatures
Hi Une
i have the entire book series
howdy :-)
howdy,une
I do, somewhere, still, I believe, but Im not sure, yet. Im still getting everything consolidated from all the moving the last 20 yrs
I feel much the same way about the oz series, as well
full bowl of oats today
very twisty and turny to***
i have 6 full book shelves still but as the paper version gets read to tatters and falls apart,i replace them with ebooks.paperbacks are just too darn expensive now
hey, crossy :-)
loved the PBS All Creatures series -- just wonderful
There's just something about *holding* the book and the smell of the paper... I dont think i can give up physical books, yet
morning une
I just try to be careful with the books, more like my comics, now, than I used to be.
it can be hard moonwolf.most of the softcovers made in the 80,s were shoddy things with poor binding.i have many softcovers from dell publishing in the 50,s and 60,s that are in far better shape
herriot is one of few writers that makes me laugh out loud as I'm reading him
those softcovers with the green and gold page edging
i think the herrit books are universally loved
It can be, sure. I even still have some I dumpster dived as a teen, I wager. But I also dont think that will keep me from attempting to prolong my seperation =)
most were 99 cents at the time.now a top name softcover runs 15 dollars here in the great white north and the format is horrible
the softcovers went a bit longer and narrower and i hate it
a friend just gave me the first harry potter soft cover, and this one looks ok, to me.
Its *slightly* taller, but I cant say this is quite narrow
Seems about the same size as the middle sized hardcover, to me.
i think it is just within the last 3 years this size format has come into place here
I also admit I havent bought a *new* book in ages. Always shop the used stores, when I travel
so,i look at library sales and private sales for my paper books and that is it
sadly good used books shoppes are rarer than hens teeth around here
aww. That is sad!
it is.
I live and breathe by them.
i used to be able to spend half a day roaming in one and they kick me out at closing with a dozen or 2 new reading treasures
I suppose I also have the advantage in that most *other* people are doing a bit of what you are and selling their physical books to used stores down here
Oh, these t's!
hey, moon -- i agree re holding and smelling books . . . will never forget what my childhood library smelled like -- books books books in an old victorian house :-)
But yea. The people at the stores I most frequent definately dont hate seeing me walk in lol
and they would not go on the book shelf(even if there was room) but rather all the new finds would be stacked up on my reading table by my wing back chair with the spines facing me so i could savor the anticipation
Agreed. Its just *so* comforting. I cant do it, yet.
gasp!! my physical books are never sold!! they just pass on of natural causes
Well that would possibly make you even more unique than you were a bit ago lol
If i had kept all the books I ever bought I would need another house!
just like people here moved thier movies from vhs to dvd, so theyre moving their books.
but i loves the ebook readers.i will always love my real books but there are now almost 500 books on my reader and without this new technology,i would of already have had to either buy a bigger home or turn the entire livingroom into a personal library
I also have fond memories of the library of my childhood. I remember sneaking into the adult section and hiding and reading the books there.
I have read 192 books since i have my e reader alone.
Oh. Yea... I Have sold a couple of physical books. But Icepeople was Not a good book, imo lol
i have every single paper book i have ever been bought or given since 1985(we had a flood before that)
Annie I also loved the library as a child.
and 40 or so since have died a natural death
Ive lent some to others, as well. I consider those investments in good conversation or a paying forward for new books to come back to me.
I still cannot get myself to get ebooks. I must hold the book in the hands. It's the physical touch of the paper.
lol.just read what i said.you know you have issues when you do not lose books bu rather they pass on:))
It takes a little getting used to.
I *can* read ebooks... I just really dont like them nearly so much and I find it more difficult to immerse myself
I love my Kindle above everything I own now.
we use them out of need.my wife has an eye disease and was ten years not being able to read.the invention of ebook readers saved her
When I lend a book to a friend and she/he tells me how m uch they loved the book..it makes me quite happy and I start looking for other books to lend
when we visited my grandmother in Lousiana in the summer, I was always invited to spend a day at my great-aunt's Children's Bookstore -- walking into that shop was like the moment when Dorothy steps out of the b&w house into a world of color! :-)
I have a Kindle ap on my phone too. I use it in Dr's waiting rooms, etc.
i was in HEAVEN!
i think i can safely say that 99.9% of babblers are bibliophiles
exactly. More often than not, they also loan me things they think i will like, back. I very enjoy the friend lending
Une, a treasured memory for you
Yes, Une that's how the library was for me.
Very safely so lol
'morning, folks
Speaking of, Im done with my list and have this harry potter thing Ive been gifted lol
hi welki :)
morning welki
indeed . . . annie, also when I spent the night with her and watched fascinated as she "unspooled" her long white hair, all the way down to her waist :-)
ty all for sharing your treasured book memories! Im off to make another of my own.
later, moon! :-)
bye Moon
have fun, woof
well, maybe. It may well be this HP thing is hype. But Im off to find out for sure ^^
*poof*
anyone read "the golem and the Jinni"?
really great, imaginative book.
no . . .
nope - good read?
cool -- will check it out!
I think it's new.
welki, HI!
Hi Welki!
hego, sounds good. Who wrote it? Will get onto Amazon later
Are you staying dry?
Annie I never remember the authors. It's a first novel.
I take a drink occasionally. yuk yuk
LOL!
lol. I meant Welki.
Okay, hego, will look it up re: title
I know, hego, couldn't resist
Very different and enjoyable read.
:D
we're okay, hego - thanks
ok, now on my library request list -- and FYI it's Helene Wecker
Good to hear.
all this wonderful book talk--may I quietly suggest that you bibliophiles read--or at least look at--my good books?
thanks Une
ty Une.
Sure Round barn
I am now reading Helene Tursten...hooked on Swedish and Norwegian thrillers. Sad that Henning Mankell is not writing thrillers any longer.
dolt
I just finished And the Mountain Echoed by Houseinni (sp?) Marvelous
sorry--not referring to any of you--just getting back to the grid, dazzled by all the book talk
i used to look up names in my dictionary that I could call my little brother, that he wouldn't understand -- "dolt" was one of them! LOL
Annie I want to read that.
hego, worth reading
i've just finished Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout - in the middle of The Son by Philipp Meyer (and then will read Strout's The Burgess Boys)
I mus've been dazled--that word isn't even in the grid--just the letters
Olive Kitteridge was very good
it happens Round.
welki, me too!! Have almost finished unabridged "The Son" audiobook -- brutal but soooo good!!
*should say is
love listening to books recorded by Will Patton
The Son was very sad
i loved it, annie - had a convo with dorens about how it might have been written so all readers might see some of themselves in her character
yes, annie, but wow, what a story
then, when done with Burgess, will read the Headmaster's Wager
I love the clever oat comment one of you made--do we have more than three? and can't even get 'em for our horse--
I promised a friend books by Jhumpa Lahiri...going to look for them
be back soon
must run -- loved this conversation!!! *poof*
taro
bye Ladies
OOPS!

and now it is time for crossy, stidbit of the day!!!
Fish can taste with their fins and tail as well as their mouth.
crossy, you notoced!-- send me an address and you'll get one even though the postage to canada is high. Nef, by the way, and Frank, just hosted my booth in Mlps--I', wating for details on the final day--it was an ag ed convention
omg, I never knew that! thanks, crossy
roundbarn, send me an email addy to p.a.melbourne@gmail.com and send it as a gift, but postage due and i will pay it
I am saving Crossy's tidbits like cricket's knees and will use them in my column in Illinois Times before long. My grandma was born in England, Crossy. And my daughter. But not me. Wisconsin farm.
lol@ crickets knees
well then, you get a bonus tidbit!!
When Disney began production on the first Herbie film, it organized a casting call for about a dozen popular automobiles. Included in the mix were Volvos, Toyotas, and, of course, the lovable VW Bug. When the staff inspected the cars, they’d kick the tires, grab the steering wheel, and generally roughhouse each one a bit. But when they finally came to the Beetle, they just began to pet it. The smug car landed the part immediately.
I will send, Crossy, but you are worth the postage. Just tell Amazon what an amazingly good book it is--we need the affirmation. I have spendid reviews, but haven't made the big time on these, yet--an earlier RB book was choice of the week at Milwaukee journal---
i will ,roundbarn and when i am done i will loan it to the public library as in house reference readingso you get maximum exposure
we often do that here with rare or small print books
i can loan it for any length of time i choose and the books never leave the premises
fw - have a lovely Sunday, everyone! ciao for now..
has anyone read the whole swallows and amazon series?
tc,aloy
I had to get the series for each of my kids they wanted their own
no,i have not
i am usually running 30 or so books behind at any given time:))
i get them as gifts,i find them at yards sales i download them in ebookm format and they just seem to back up on me;))
and one daughter bicycled to the lake district to find Holly Howe. I wrote Ransom once, with praise, and got back a churlish reply--or maybe that was William Mayne
just checked my list.i have 2 hardcovers,3 softcovers and 8 e-books waiting,so am not doing too bad this month
IF I am going to the uu's this morning gotta quit, get moving. Hate to miss any more book talk.
welki, you'll love the burgess boys -- hello from newark airport
Practically lived the Ransome books - stil reread one or another of them at 71. But Ransome was rather a surly type, I gather - there's a really good biography of him out, but do not let any child fans read it!
Good day to all.
hi sscrabs. and i'm about to board. see you later from montreal
Enjoy, Doren!
ty, i will!!
howdy scwabby! new car home yet?
Yes! I was afraid to have it on the road. I don't want ANY damage to my new baby.
lol
It drives so smoothly, like it is hovering over the road.
ro = in grid
first thing i am going to do when i get my new jeep is bring it through the muddiest steepest mountain goat path i can find:))
Yikes!
it is what they are made for afterall
good morning, all :)
I had not planned on buying a Crosstrek so I am still adjusting mentally.
howdy,cybernan
what book is roundbarn promoting? -- came in part way through the comments
Hi Nan
She is an author
and the her pen name? titles?
http://www.roundbarnstories.com/
Genre?
there ya go
ty crossy
Any suggestions to keep a cat out of my yard so it won't keep killing chipmunks and birds?
i have also seen her picture.she is adorable, like everyones grandmother:))
none, scrabbler.well you could keep live trapping it and after returing it to your neighbour a few times they might get the hint
I am not sure who owns the cat so I could send a community-wide e-mail.
all our cats are good indoor kitties
yup, trap it.post a notice around your area and send it to the shelter and they can pick it up there(our shelters have no kill policies however)
get a dog, big one
cybernan, I write in many genres--have pic bks, novels, what I'm promotong now is my "creative non-fiction"--NOT a personal memoir, I am just n the books now and then and the reader knws the material has to have passed through someone, i.e., jackie--crossy's givemn my website, my daughter did it. My techno=-wizard Mitch did a first web, I think it's jacqueline jackson--you'll be treated to me with a goat standing on my back.
i would rather my cats be indoor kitties than having to scrape them off the road
Joso, I wish.
RoundBarn--nice to know more about you.
scrab, you've been on my "list" quite a while--I watch people-- (Nef just did me a big favor, went to a conference for me.)
bit of a tidbit.here most of our oldest and rarest barns are not round but rather an octagon shape and stem mostly from the mennonite or amish communities
TY, RoundBarn. What makes me worthy?
peopel watch me as well..usually with a taser at the ready lol
or at least some mace:)
Mornin' folks. another inscrutable grid
howdy,bichn:)
I love barns and take pictures of barns a lot. I saw a cool round barn in Shelburne, VT.
Hi Scrabs, Roundbarn, cross
bichon*
Hi Bichon, Marco and Polo.
and the earliest barns were whitewashed and not red:))
You know what they call Bichons crossy: Bitchin' Frizzes
lol!!
yes,you told me they have bad hair days
Hahaha
lol,i can see roundbarn taking notes on the babble society and just wondering what she has gotten herself into:))
Today is one of those bad hair days. I brushed them yesterday and they look like they were exposed to lightening
She is writing a book about us.
Yeah! What part will I play?
just visited the website - your daughter did a great job, Roundbarn.
i think i will play the odd uncle from away that everyone warns you about
what is the url for the website?
http://www.roundbarnstories.com/
http://www.roundbarnstories.com/interv\niew.html
I will play the traveller who's never home
I am the nature lover and outdoor activities chick.
And I live in Rabbitat.
with delicious, err i mean cute bunnies
I think roundbarnstories. Scrab, I'll get back to you--a find so many of you worthy, all of you interesting, and surely worthy were I to know you better. If it were a book, it'd have to be in snatches, the way I see the chat--gradually learning abt you--but that's often the way with books--
at this point roundbarn has given up on pen and paper and is dictating into a recorder for a shrink to go over first
I'm really leaving now or will miss my weekly dose of the uu's who keep me going--
So nice to know you, RoundBarn. I enjoy reading essays on life, e.g. Mary's Farm in Yankee Magazine.
Just adding another reminder to please use tinyurl.com for posting links so the chat width doesn't get blown. Thanks.
scrabby blew out the chat!!!
And I must go mountain biking now as thunderstorms are predicted.
put a lightning rod on the back fender
scrab, a final note to you--I have a whole short story on my house rabbits
Haha. Good idea, Crossy.
You have house rabbits too???
Good morning, all! Sigh. Thunder starting to rumble here.
Twins separated at birth
Hi Judi.
Hi Judi

Thunder getting closer and louder.
And the rain begins again.
Rooooooooollllllling thunder. Whole house shook on that one.
crossy loves a good thunder storm.the nastier, the better.one to rattle the windows and make my teeth vibrate
Love the thunder. We could do without more rain. We're oversaturated right now.

found it. what about the er6,21
i am about ready to start typing too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ra.
must go get sustenance. hope to bbl.
still looking T&T
mymuse, do you have a Shih Tzu?
Hi Bich, Snickers is a Morkie (Maltese/Yorkie) and the sweetest dog I've ever had :)
It's funny ... I had not come across that breed before and now I've met at least 7 other owners with Morkies, most just as playful but all sweet.
I have a Maltese/Shih Tzu. Love her
Oooh, bet she's very gentle :) and curious?
grrrr...every time i type in an a word i think will clear the bottom a, it registers for the top
af 5/16. Sherlock Holmes used this phrase..."The game is af!"
Know what you mean TO, found 2 and still looking.
the other af TO think root beer drinks in the summer :)
i have that ty
not ready for clues
oh sorry
There are only two from the bottom A
sigh, there I go again looking in wrong place lol
well, i have typed in at least 4 i think are sure things to no avail. not enought to have to babble, do i now have to THINK?
sure TO keeps those synapses firing, you know.
uh oh do i hear thumder? :/ not ready for a day of rain.
I just finished the effing O's!
Doppler here looks like Armageddon.
oh hell. i need to go out to the fgarden center to buy coyote urine granules for my bunnies.
Ewww. What a nasty thing to have to spend money on.
*Thanks God Scrabs is gone*
I know nada re bunnies. Why do they need those TO?
better than a 22
lol
they need them to decide to move elsewhere
Oh. I thought you were trying to protect the bunnies from the coyotes.
predator urine
oh heavens, i have not yet seen coyotes though i know they are here
What great cocktail party talk. Where do you work? At the coyote urine granule factory.
so a deterrent to avoid certain areas
really. i hearfox urine is just as ood, what do you think? :/
Lol! All I can think of is Wil E. Coyote calling the ACME company....
Hee hee. Wonder how they get the coyotes to pee in the collection tanks.
an eviction notice for the oround under my shed.
They stand in line to make donations, holding little plastic cups.
:)
Don't you have to re-apply it after every time it rains, TO?
as i understand, you place granules in nylon stockings then push them down into the burrows with a stick. reapply severl times over two weeks
then get river rock to pour into the openings
it is not odorous, as opposed to other spray on deterrents for plants
lol TO this whole time I'm thinking it's your PET bunnies.
far right n?
oh no, that is scrabbler, not me. and these are mangy looking things
hi kje! still looking myself
hi kje.
na6....sounds like married woman of honor with a different first letter
NA6 sounds like a nurse on a ward.
I tried the coyote urine to get rid of the raccoons at my place in dallas.... didn't work
think pointer sisters: "i'm just doing the na5 dance..."
hi zoom!
ty for the n
kje, are coytoes predators of raccoons?
so they say
Hello, Mymuseisme :-)
coyotes eat anything smaller than them that they can catch
Does anyone have the AF 6/27?
perhaps then fox urine.
ty got it finally
af6...what you are when you bob in the water
it is that or pay a trapper. i am not gong to begin trapping wascally wabbits
<slap> TY!
I think my raccoons were just too smart
they came all the way from their urrows at the back of the yard to the front DOOR to eat my herbs and flowers. and when I come out they just look at me
bold
Ah, uppity rabbits
they come out in daylight, they are brazen. no predators. so i aim to make them think they have some.
lol, TO. I think they want some balsamic vinegrette with their salad.
*Imagines TO putting a stuffed coyote in her yard*
anyone who went to catholic school back in the day now the phrase" brazen article"
likes TO's "coyotes".
coytoes!
Or brazen hussy
stop correcting when I want to misspell :P
we;; judi, if they are so smart why didn;t they read those artciles that say rabbit don't eat basil?
Clue for cy5, please?
Add a vowel to the color
coytoes could be a neologism. just need a definition
The rabbits were eating my basil too. I finally put the planter up on the deck railing where they couldn't reach it. Cheeky little bastards.
a synonym for someone who is bashful and just stand there looking at his or her feet?
Ty for the cy.
well, perhaps mid atlantic rabbits have very well developed, refined palates. :P
But they don't eat the cilantro.
Yes, and the Texas raccoons have discerning olfactory sense.
neither would i. it tastes like soap to me.
Cilantro and basil. Every recipe I read lately calls for way too much of both of them.
I love lots of basil on stuff, but a little cilantro goes a long way.
a little basil oes a long way. it intensifies when food isfrozen, as does black pepper. learned that in food class
And there is a time and a place for cilantro. Potato salad is not one of them.
i am listening to the thunder getting closer, i have lost my window of oppotunity. i wil be forced to clean and cook.
I love cilantro, and basil, and pretty much all the fresh herbs... make great drinks also
It's just food trends. Like carmelized onions, they are in everything too, lately.
do5,12 (the one after the mispelled name)
Clue for re6, please?
nvrmd
the girl's name, toad
Judi put the top of house on again
strong flavors though, need judicious use. i think folks who eat a lot of prepared foods lose the sense of taste, so seasona nd spice heavily. like when eating a peach the other day, i was thinking how it taste very good but not as peachy as artificial peach flavoring.
re6 - put tiles atop a house again
Ish. Just found it. NM.
ar5
most southeast asian cuisines use lots of basil, cilantro, mint
yes. the most i use basil is when layering with fresh mozz and tomatoes
ar5 = add a *** of sunshine or Mr. Orbison
thanks
I use it in Thai curries, Italian pestos, Greek salads, Vietnamese vermicelli... I wish I had space for herbs here like I did in Dalas... but, there are plenty of farmers markets for that
kje, have you tried bbq rosemary? i just saw the plants for the first time
Firewords!
wtg
congrats Judi!
isn't that a new name for the original large rosemary bushes?
yay judi!
yay judi!
i don't know, the nursery said it is stronger than the usual trailing habit kind
sounds good... I'd eat it
i like my recipe for chicken thighs coated with honey, lemon and rosemary: fast and easy and tasty, if a little messy
I have chicken thighs defrosting now... prob will make the cooks illustrated spice rubbed chicken
what is in the rub? iwould like to devlop a rub for chicken. i need to make 6 or 8 dinners for the chirch freezer, so having new easy recipes helps with boredom. they request meat lo4 and chicken the most
i am gon to try ina garten's meat lo4 for a crowd recipe. i cannot believe any turkey loaf is as flavorful as beef
4 letter words done. 9 letter word done.
just stuck it in my profile, TO
ty! if i have a base, i can tweak it to taste.
this is Great for cooking for a crowd! Doesn't even require much except for reducing the heat
it is called SPICE-RUBBED PICNIC CHICKEN - they say it tastes like BBQ chicken without the messy sauce so good for a picnic... I can attest it is delish
since chicken is very requested and thighs and drums are cheap, this is great for aid for friends cooking. i can do 12 meals at a time and be free for a month or so
what are the first 2 letters for the 9?
an
ty
got it

I thought for the coffin
tell him i will come over there if i have to and sling him over my shoulder like a sack of taters and carry him down the street to the dr
he can then squack and fuss all he wants
bbl
did that with my father in law.did not want to go so i looked at him..all 135 pounds of him and just picked him up and slung him over my shoulder and carried him to the car, placed him in it and drove him to the clinic
that's about what Burt weighs.....
lol,well i am 6 foot 2 and 250 pounds so when i say go,you go

<---Usually up with the sun, work day or not
yes.. and look how haggard you look in the photo.. :D
That's not me, it's Soodle.
LOLOLOLOL
I hope she shows up for that one
She admitted yesterday that she was a professional worrier. I thought I would show people what that does to you.
<---not wrinkled
how's this molly?
I love Alfred ♥
*what me worry?*
Getting the most recent copy of Mad Magazine was the highlight of my week as a kid.
good afternoon, everyone!
Hi Sue
hi molly!
hi sue--they took tmmy yesterday why not tanny today
hi roundbarn! can't use danny or ronny either :-(
finally got nbs and nbt, wasn't easy with this one
<------ Will never worry about anything EVER again! Thank you Molly. :-)
Were your ears burning?
hi soodle!
Rofl! Yes! (Just my ears, though)!
Your pic reminds me of what a much loved aunt used to say to me :- 'If you learn nothing else from Mother Teresa..... Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise!
lol, soodle!
That picture should remind you more about dental care. : D
Bless her. I wonder if that lady ever imagined she'd be the talk of Babble?
She looks like a typical Irish Gram.
green isn't a great color for you soodle :D
firewords! re6 top a house again was my last
tx all cluers
You're welcome 2Bit. We hardly knew you were here. : )
Mad Magazine had the best parody of West Side story
East Side Story...
Gee officer Khrushchev, we're very upset
Mort Drucker ruled.
I had a friend once who told me that she wasn't allowed to read Mad Magazine. I was horrified.
well, not allowed by her fourth grade teacher during math, or what?
Or by the nuns?
Context, Molly, context.
Or at her grandaunt's funeral?
Specify.
Ok, well, there you go.
howdy all:)
howdy kaplan:)) what is the topic of the day?
i was never allowed to read mad magazine as a child because i was told it is the reading equivalent to walking through life with a finger up your nose:)
brb shower calls
By her parents.
Mad Magazine was taboo. It was my favorite
Good Afternoon, Everyone. How are you on this beautiful summer day?
There's a beautiful summer day somewhere. Where? I'll go there. It humidity city here
Here in MN, bichon. Temp of 84 F, humidity in mid 40's, blue skies and lovely sunshine. :-D
Sounds delightful Nef.
it is, bichon; and it's about time for us to get nice wether too!
weather
We got off the plane from CA on Tues. and it was 95. What a shocker
Oh, Nef, please enjoy your weather. It is raining here as it has for the past two weeks.....
oh, my! That would be a shock!
At least you don't have a dought gapeach. Hasn't the south had drought conditions?
peach, I'm very serious; we are still having flood warnings from all of the rain we've received this year.
The dogs don't go to potty when it's raining...I've had to shove them out and they look back at me like I've done a horrible thing to them.
Nef, are you on higher ground?
we had about 7 inches of rain last week alone (5 inches in 3 days)
Oh, my!
here it is a beautiful 70f with partly sunny conditions:)
Same here peach. My two are too good to pee and poop in the rain.
109 here today
wow
Sounds great, crossy.
...a little toasty
bichon, we animal lovers just do whatever it takes,
yes, peach; I grew up on a hill (as a child) and during nursing school our dorm was beside the Red River in Fargo, ND during a bad flood. Unconsciously I've seemed to prefer higher ground ever since.
don't we? LOL
it is nice gapeach.we pay our pennance in the winter, but even not so much of that of late
Ruru, my kids went to Walnut Creek yesterday. Same thing.
I do understand that, Nef.
it only fell below minus 20 a few times last year and winter was done early
I've had to step outside in the rain when I let the dog out at night because we've had a red fox in the neighborhood and that plus the large raccoons here has me concerned about his safety.
Oh, yes, Nef.
But I'm lucky in that our house has large overhangs so I stay mostly dry unless it's raining really hard.
here, nef, coyotes have come back in a big way.they have been a rare thing untill the last ten years ago.now however you run the risk of losing small dogs or cats that are allowed out unattended
That's why I don't have an Invisible Fence". To many critters, including coyotes
And, they would chase deer too. Can't have that. It's against the law
crossy, I live less than 10 miles from the very middle of both Minneapolis and St. Paul. There are coyotes and other predator animals (including brown bears and some say a mountain lion) in the outer ring suburbs
then you best keep an eye on the pets.up north a bit ,my da lost a dog to a wolf one night
bears are comon in our muskoka regions and further noth.not the big cats however.mostly west coast for those
My sister (the vet in Northern MN) said that since the dog weighs about 10-11 lbs; I have to worry about some of the owls and hawks here also.
yes,a large hawk or turkey vulture can indeed take a ten pound dog
I never thought about vultures; but we do see those occasionally too
Well, its raining here. It rained yesterday. It will probably rain tomorrow. No bears, hawks or vultures, just rain. :-/
soodles;)))
Hello all...
hi Jellen; how are you?
Hi there, (((((((SOODLE)))))))!
hi everyone! iam on a loaner laptop from thte internet cafe for today and tomorrow :) am at mcdonald's, but wi fi is slower than a snail.. i'm supposed to check battery length life, so i may drop out unexpectedly. hoping my neighours upstairs will let me hitchhike on their wifi for the rest of the weekend (if they have it) {{{(((hugz)))}}} to everyone, so many of my favourites are on now... woot!
(Soodle, you can keep your rain as far as I'm concerned)
Here in the sunny, hot northwest, we have zephers and calm waters. Humidity is rising and hubby is taking a nap.
I'm okay Nef. Relieved to be through with summer school!
soodles,as our lawyer meanders slowly through the final paperwork, the window for our ireland trip for this year looms closer and closer.sadly,if we cannot get closure by end of this month, the trip will have to be postponed till next year
howdy,kate!
hi TK!
Hey Cross, Nef, Jellen, Bich, Gape,Kate & anybody else who've dropped off my screen. :-)
howdy,jellen;))

Hey there, TK.
Jellen - Long time no see! How're you doing?
Soodle :) I'm still going...
I understand the reason behind summer school; but I would hate to do it myself. :-)
I believe that about bears. We have a lot in CT, believe it or not. And, a mountain lion was killed on the parkway last year.
Hi Jellen
Oh, it was terrible! A four week online course on Linguistics!
Lol Kate! I used to worry about leaving some-one out, but thanks to Molly, I don't worry anymore!
((((Jellen)))))
Hi Kate. Sending kind thoughts your way.

And yet it's also a special greeting I've only seen here in Babble, Molly

For once, none of that is my fault, L.
Apparently, someone needs a little rain on her dry spell.

i'll blame it on ru :D
I came on at 5:20--yes, Crossy, taking notes--thinking up slogans--was going to say, my mom hired my sister to be housekeeper one summer; Pat worked naked but with an apron--I think she didn't want any bacon spatters on her--

i'd go in aminute harry, but the price of gold is way off...below 1300 now, and many of the mines are shutting in production. just as the economy went down the toilet, i hads a job lined up with xtrata, but you know hte rest.... still unemployed after all this time :(
also, you might have to live in a town called swasTIka
I cannot believe that there are people running in California in this heat.
I spent a wknd in Larder Lake once.
Heading off to bed now, but still loving Mollys assertion that her profile pic is me. Nothing like a good chuckle prior to the pit!
sorry, kje, I don't have it yet.
enjoy your time in the nest soodles, see you tomorrow :)

60 left....still missing the right N?
niters, Soodle

ty :)
yw.
time to give baths. bbl i hope
i still need 70 , so i may be asking you for clues :)
bye harrry :)
80 here....
bye harry, tc:)
well, me can help eachother kate :D
i'm not much help atm... no 9, 2 8's and no 7's yet.. i'm on a small laptop, cannot see chog and lickety at the same time. will have to scroll abck and forth...
i don't have a 9 either,2x8's and 2x7's
i just set up lickety, will take a quick run through it and see if i can't get the numbers down to a manageable amount of fishies...
kate, i have an ad7, one who decorates, goes of the ad5
thanks for that one lil :)
and i have fl5/7 a person who cleans the ground
hmmm, i have an fl 5/16... lay upon the water and then a af 6 from it...
their is another fl5,16 and 7 after the water one, as in levels in a building..when you're in a lift you go to each fl5
got that one already... thought that was your fl ground cleaner one...?
it is kate
i will have to go sooon, don't want to get banned from macdonald's for over-staying my welcome...
hey all!
it's hot here! Got to be 80+ (F) ... *melting mama look*
hi stiddie :)
Hi both. I've just finished so I can clue the 7s, 8s and 9s if you would like..
i've just found another fl6,16 which is anagram of the water one you have kate
Hi Stid.x
YAY Jacula!
<passes stiddie a nice tall glass of iced tea and would like to know how much vodka to add...
fl5,16 anotherone is what you send up in the sky when in distress
hi stid :D
{{{{{{jacula}}}} !!!!
hi jac :) wtg!!, i could do with the 9 please
um, I would like tea-colored vodka with lots of rocks please?
have that one too liliann, i usually start from the end of lickety and work my way toward the a's....
i wish it was hot here stid. saying that it has been humid for us anyway :)
I would adore the second letter for the N on the far right please? at halfway, but not close enough to "list" yet
ooooh, missed jacula's offer to clue.... have the dy 8/55 and na 8/40...
ick. yes, the humid is the worst part, we had so much rain last week that it's still working its way out of the ground -- which makes it feel a lot hotter!
long time no see jac.hope you and your other half have been well
they're the ones i have too kate
I don't "do" humid -- 70 and humid for me is worse than 100 and dry.
i have asked jac for the 9
ad7/32 - one who decorates something or someone, an9/54 - one who makes explanatory or critical notes, dy8/55 - it's an electronics word for a 'tetrode', fl7/40 - someone who lays tiles for you to walk on or perhaps someone who knocks you out in a fight, na8/40 - storyteller, ne8/40 - to do with newborn babies, ro7/28 - one who spins something around.
the 9 is from ruru.. most of TNT + an older sci fi movie..
ruru's clue for dy8 is excellent.
it is stid, i know when we've been to jamaica it's humid and hot but that's worse than when we've been to egypt and it is 100 and dry as you're not sweating
i got the dy8 of ru jac
thanks for the 9 jacula!~
y/w Kate.
ty jac
Jac as usual you are SPECTACULAR! thanks for the help.
stid - the n's on the far right are all 'na' words.
got my missing N, too.
ty jac, i got 3 that i needed :D
scooped up all those loverly clues jacula, many thanks! still 62 to go, but i should leave for a bit and come back (if my neighbour doesn't have wifi....
62 here, too, kate!
Any more clues needed?
62 here too :D
always comes in 3's
we're the babble trio!
i will poof for a little while, back in an hour maybe??? take care everyone! poof
I think I will muddle through a few more on my own jac, but thanks so much!
my f.i.l was in hospital 2 weeks ago with a bad heart and his next dooor neighbour is now in hospital with a bad heart, went in last week and then my brother in law got hit head on in his taxi yesterday and went to hospital, and he's home and ok. always 3's
I'll nip back to what I was doing elsewhere then and pop my head back in to see how you're doing.
bfn kate, i'll probably still be here :)
Oh dear, lil. Hope that's all the bad stuff out of the way for a while.x
i'll plod along thanks jac. i didn't start until 10 tonight. too late really

Back for the last 28...
hi bea :) 47 here
i'm going dizzy looking at all the n's and r's
sorry, I wandered off and missed so much. Lilliann, hope your brother in law will be okay.
i'm sure he'll be ok.all i know is that he ws in a head on collision, and he got cut out of his taxi and that he was home.that's all he told me on the phone, but he doesn't talk much and my hubby and him aren't close
wow. at least he told you it had happened! I think your family is done with accidents and hospitals now. <stern mama look at the Furies> time to have some happy events, to even out the balance again.
he only phoned me as he couldn't reach his dad so he wanted me to tell him.i'm sorry, but there is no love lost between my husband or me with him.we do things for his dad because we love him and want to,he only ever does things for money, but yes it would be nice to have a period of no hospitals and good luck. sending the same good wishes to you and your's stid as you all deserve them more
can anyone clue
yes anita, if i can
er6/21

why did i hyphenate the someone?
I don't have any ra 6 yet... *thinking*
ty stid, so was yours
i don't have that one yet anita, sorry

stid
yay!!wtg anita!! :)
but ... ruru I am SO proud of my garden -- the cherry tree has yielded at least a cup and a half (once I pit them) of PIE cherries this year!!! and scads of plums on the tree, and abundant apples already developing, and... *sigh* my chestnut tree is in FULL bloom and from a distance it looks white but underneath it is lovely and cool.
I hope you are somewhere cool, then ruru -- it's too hot for me at 90...
okay, down to a nice, even 30. We are ready to head out for supper. Ain't NO WAY I am letting anyone use the stove this evening!
have a lovely evening, all! *poof*
well, atleast you'll have some fruit for pies and puddings and be able to freeze them and eat them in your new house stid.i know it's not what you wanted but a new chapter is turning
bye stid and tc hin
i'm back!!! woot! can babble from home for the remainder of today and all of tomorrow... hope there is a biggie tomorrow... very happy girl atm. ging to change into something comfy and babble at leisure... thanks to my wonderful neighbours who are letting me use their wi fi :)))
Kate - enjoy!
pouring a glass of wine and dressing, brb
very very happy babbler.....
that's great kate :)
gonna be happier once i get into the wine ;)
that's even better kate :D
how exciting - i will be here for the flip :-D
How are you doing with the grid, lil?
i'll be in bed kate.is that 1am for you kate?
i have 35 left left jac. i di ask how you and your other half were doing earlier.i don't know if you saw it?
I did, lil, but it got lost in the clueing along the way. We're fine, thanks. Still very busy re-vamping the kitchen. How are you and your hubs?
how is your garden jac, as i know you love to potter in it from the pics from fb.when i go on there but i haven't been on there much this year
i hope all goes well with the kitchen.what style are you doing?
yes, flip is 1 a.m. for me, if i remember correctly... jacula, it is so nice to see you after so long :)
Kate - that's very nice of you. Flip is 6am for us in UK by the way. x
aye, we're fine.daughter is a mouthy teenager but apparently brilliant at school so what more can i ask for and hubby is here from time to time.i've forgotton what he looks like :)
speaking of the teen daughter... how did the dress shopping go?
Lil - if you go on FB you will see both kitchen and garden pics. Our kitchen is 'country kitchen' as always. We're pretty much keeping it the same but freshening it all up. We've just had a double oven cooker and have had to move stuff to accommodate it and also retile behind it, as the original tiling was for a single oven cooker. Life is SO much easier with the bigger cooker.
lil - I know what you mean about hubby; I only see mine at weekends (mostly) but that's what you take on with a truck or coach driver. x
we didn't go dress shopping. as she doesn't like them. she is a tom boy.she'll wear shorts with knee boots
lil - mouthy teenaged daughters.. yes, been there twice. You have my sympathy. However, they do become human again eventually. x
or tracksuits mainly
good evening all
Hello wvteach.
i must be thinking of someone else then, someone had to go find a prom dress... hi teach :)
My own daughter has always been a girly girl (with a steel centre) but my stepdaughter was/is a tomboy. I remember me and her cousin trying to dress her for her prom. Nightmare!
hello all - glad you can be here for the weekend kate
weekends, what's that?? i haven't seen mine in weeks and it will be atleast another 3 weeks before he comes home for 2 days but they aren't whole ones.when he was home last about 3 odd weeks ago we calculated that we had seen him for 4 days and 2 hours in 11 weeks
Blimey lil! Could be worse though - he could be an ice road trucker. :-)
it was soodle kate and i thought you might have meant her when you said it
<----positively giddy, doing handsprings <boing boing boing>
hi teach :)
he would love to do that too jac :)
this is what comes of babbling in a rush. no time to 'take in the experience" properly!
na8?
story teller bea :)
lil - my chap, too. Well, either that or a Road Train driver in Australia.
...and hi :)
ty
what is a road train driver? one who goes long distances?
Hi Bzz.
yw, glad to return the favour :)
Kate - Yes and with 2 or 3 trailers attached.
aye, mine says that aswell. i bet they both say they could do it better
hello dear friends
lil - YEP!
hi trif
Hi Trif.x
hi triff :)
anyway, it's lovely to still see you hera at this time of night kate :)
Lil - he didn't seem so keen on driving the Indian and Himalayan sheer-edged roads when the IRT people did those. (He doesn't like heights.) lol
mine wanted to do those too, saying that he has driven around most of the world and dodgy roads but want's to do all the ones on the tv
if you don't like heights, they're not good jac :) lol
saying that, he's into his coaches now and has a posh one that you don't much in the U.K
i'm going to lurkdom for a while to finish
I'm stuck at 48
{{{lurkerz}}} st 53 here, but not yet stuck... do you list harrry?
Hoping to go to the Three Counties Showground in Malvern for the Truckfest on 6th or 7th of July. Lisa and Alex from IRT will be there.
ask if you need a clue Harry, we'll help if we can :)
im stuck trying to get to nbt. whew!
lisa, is that the blonde one, actually, she's died her hair brown now. is that the one??
you're not alone triff ;)
lil - I notice that Stobart's are holding a competition at the show with the first prize being 'doing a delivery with a driver of your choice'. Now why would I want to do that when I can do it with my very own trucker?
Lil - yes, Lisa was the blonde one.
is the single n in the right column fishy, please?
Nope!
na6/18
i don't have it yet triff, sorry
she is a crap driver.she hasn't got a clue, she just flutters her eyelids when she breaks down, thinking that all the men will help her, which they did to start and throughout all the driving she did she was crap and i want to say 'yay, great woman lorry driver but she's not'!!
Hi, all...
na6 sounds like the head bridesmaid
hi jellen :)
Hi jellen.
thanks! got it
lol jac, exactly.now, i would choose someone else as mine doesn't drive them any more, so i would want a young good looking one :)
lil - I must admit I was disappointed that time when she threw up her hands, panicked and gave up. I also don't like the way she treats her new co-driver, who seems like an okay chap.
nbt.
wtg triff !
Heh lil, my trucker is 44 (12 years younger than me) and he still looks young and good looking to me. *grins but wouldn't kick a looker out of the cab* lol
she thinks because she is driving a lorry that she's great.it's good that she can drive one, not many woman or men could, but she's not good with all the other stuff
lil - what do you think of the other lady, Mia? The New Yorker.
mine is 51 and good looking to me still but if i can sit next to ayonger model and a grab a thigh for an hour or so, i'll be happy :)
Ooh, Lil! You little devil, you! (Hussy!)x
HA! Lil!
big fat grin....
What happens in Babble stays in Babble...
is she the one with red/darker hair. i only watch it when he's home and it was weeks ago when i did, but i preferred her.she wasn't brilliant but i thought she was better. hubby said she wasn't all that
'Grab a thigh' - that'd be a good theme for a national 'women of a certain age' day. :-D
I have ALWAYS suspected you were a little pistol, lil!
I have a new beau. :)
there was a bit of naughtiness earlier... i believe ruru was vacuuming wearing only a crossy-designed bacon g-string....
hey, i can't walk, so i need a younger model to throw me ove his shoulder and carry me from a to b without huffing and puffing and then i can spend time with my hubby breathing normally :)
lol, Kate!
I didn't think Mia was good, but she had a better attitude. I think Lisa has got a little to big for her TV Star boots now.
Lol, lil!
Really, Jellen?
Jellen - you have a new beau? DO TELL!
huzzah Jellen! What lovely news!
i think so too jac
tell us more jellen :)
Tell us about him....Spill it, girl!
tell us about him, please.... in a self-imposed dry spell here, and was horribly made fun of earlier for my pains ;)
Yup! He's 30, a former Marine.
Sings and plays the guitar beautifully...
Bzz - if only what happens in Babble did stay in Babble. However, you try googling your name and you will find your posts on the chog in here.
wow! how did you meet?
Di you meet him at school?
No, met him online.
I married the man I met online...=)
good for you girl! That's how I met mine too, but he won't let me tell anyone that!
Jac, really?
Jellen - that seems to be the way many people meet now, on line.
Bzz - yes.
We've been married for 13 years and still going strong.
I met my OH on line, too. Not on a dating site but on a forum.
Yay, Bea!
Stats for the 9 please
Bzz - good to hear it. We've been together 10 years now and ditto re the still going strong.
an 9/54
wjb - Hello. an9/54.
I am encouraged to hear all of this.
lol. so there maybe hope for me after all? would never go on a dating site - at least not in a small town like this...
Of course, you do have to be careful on line, Trif., but not everyone online is a monster.
i'm so glad that a few of my babble buddies have found young virile men :)
TK, are there larger towns near you?
hi wjb :)
Thank you
I agree jac.
my beloved isn't a monster at all. He is LOVELY
kate, there is someone out there for you.when you least expect it, he'll pop up like a piece of toast from a toaster :D
Dating sites are pretty dire as far as I can tell. I wasn't online when I was newly single and so got taken to a singles club by a friend - an experience I never wanted to repeat. I looked at a dating service on TV and they all looked liked nutters or would-be serial killers.
Hubs and I lived half way across the US when we met online. He lived in NC and I lived in KS.
yes bea, but at the mercy of poor public transport for now...and the larger towns are still fairly small - st. catharines is the closest large town - about 100,000... niagara falls has only about 70.000 last i looked.
I thought that too, jacula, and I did have some odd dates, to be sure, but I stuck with it for a bit longer, and hit the love lottery more than I ever could have imagined.
Kate - what lil said is quite right. That's what happened to me. I wasn't looking and suddenly there he was.
I live in a town of 14,000.
Trif - so glad to hear it.
ah lil... i really am not looking now. i would literally have to stumble over him. the placews i go are not likely to have a potential boyfriend fjor me...
anyway, jellen, I am delighted for you, and I wish you and your beau the very best.
He live in the country outside town.
you really, really deserve every happiness, jellen
lives
Hi Jellen.
good for you bea, i'm glad it all worked out well for you both. my hubby and i have been married for 13 years
Hello, Neil!
Neil - haven't seen you for a while. However, that might be because I haven't chatted here for quite a while.
well, i hope all goes well for you jellen. all that matters is that you are happy:D
Thanks, lil. Anyone that would put up with me for 13 years is a saint. =)
hi neil
Agreed, lil!
Kate - you probably will stumble over him, or him over you. Love will find a way.
hi neil :) i am very glad for you jellen, and wish you both every happiness :)
i say that too bea :)
Hi lilliann and TraderKate. :)
Been a long day...Time for me to bzz...pfft!
i am 51, age has started to catch up with me these last 2 years, i am unemployed... not exactly a "catch"... not so much negative, but realistic and pragmatic
don't give up, kate! if it can happen to me, if can happen to ANY one!
niters, bea :)
dating sites are alot better now. my friend went on one and said she was never going to get close to a man again as she's been married twice and she went onto a dating site but didn't say alot and her boyfriend now is lovely and treats her the way that both of her ex husbands should have done
nice, lil!
nite bea, tc and sweet dreams :)
lil - aw, that's nice.x
and he's really great with her son but he has grown up children so he knows what it's like to have bairns
I'm going to wander off now if no more clues are needed. See you again some time. And, lil, don't forget to check my FB pics to get up-to-date.xxx
actually, that is true of my Valentine as well. He LOVES secondo and tertiare, as he never had a daughter, just boys
i have never married (no kids either), i guess my standards are too high... and now very used to living alone wiht no one to answer to... i think what i'm trying to say is that i don't think i'd want anyone who'd want me ... what a snob i am.. but not a glod digger - could care less about how he makes his living
i still need 35 jac, but it's been great catching up with you. when i'm next on fb i'll have a look at your photos.tc hin
bye jacula, so nice to chat with you after so long. take care!
my friend's boyfriend has one of each but i think because they are older and he is older than her he is different now to how he was maybe with his own.my hubby has 3 others from 2 other wifes and i thin
sleep well jacula!
it can be very tricky combining households... it's not all "brady bunch"
J. has 4 young children.
have you met them yet jellen?
j is your newe beau?
Oh no. We've only been together a few weeks.
Yes, Kate
okay jellen. you will when it is time.
sorry, i don't think he treats them any differently to our's but he has a different outlook on life. when we got together we got all our skeletons in teh closet out, so there would be no surprises and we still love eachother no matter what, plus we both said, what we wanted and didn't want out of a relationship and 13 years later, we're still together.i think you have to be truthful from the start of a new relationship.if it's meant to work out, it will :)
is that him in your profile?
GREAT advice, lilliann!
very sensible liliann!!!!!
No. I'll put a pic of him up.
if you are comfortable doing so
michael palin in brazil on hte tele now, i may "fade in and out" <secretly in love with him>
kate, i think you'd be better off with someone who works away alot.you can still have your space but spend some companionable time and other things with someone for a couple of weeks at a time.
mine is dread terrified of FB, so I am not allowed to post pics of him on it
i must admit, i'm more used to my own time and time with the our daughter and we have our own thing going on so when he is home he spoils it now but i love him being home but if it's for a month or more in teh winter it drives me potty and him, because we're not use to it
i love company, but really do value my time alone with myself. not sure i'd be happy with a part time arrangement though. i met a guy a few years ago... thought he was the one...
Hmmm...
Can't get it to load.
oh dear - back out and go in again?
i'm like you kate, i do like my own space but i do want companionship too.sorry, it didn't work out for you, but as i say, there is someone out there for you and when you least expect it, he'll be there :)
well, whether it happens or not, i will be fine. not to pass judgement on others, but fortunately, i don't seem to NEED a man in my life to feel complete :)
enough! pour some wine and change the topic.... the lurkerz are bored ;)
i've just been to the loo, is that a good enough topic change? :)
did you mention my name? you would have gotten a good seat.....
and i don't drink wine at 2am, i have a cup of tea :)
getting closer to being able to help with clues... down to 27, and most words "f" to "z" have been found!
it's 9 pm here... prime wine time :) and i haven't really had dinner yet - been nibbling and foraging in fridge for victuals ;)
i had a great big pan of mussels tonight as the bairn didn't want any and i thoroughly enjoyed them with a bit of french bread dipped in to the garlic and wine
it should have been for 4 people but i don't care and they are low fat :)
mmmm! having a bit of caesar salad here. trying to get up the energy to make some garlic bread and cheese.
---> would love some mussels!!
crossy is back, was a nice sunset drive in the mountain;))
suze!!
and hi all!
hi crossy!
hi sue :) welcome back crossy!
ty,kate:))
sounds nice crossy, i chose to revel in evening babylon, as it is such a rare treat :))
hi sue, i would hjave shared the other half with you :)
hi crossy
I have gotten into making smoothies (since I have been doing archaeological excavations in our freezer), today's is banana peach mixed berry. quite nice.
ooooh! sound delish!
just found the cy4 colour.always miss that one
lol, delving into the substratae of the freezer:)
nice when you find a fishie before you have to ask for it :)
amazing what is in there, crossy!
i have ice cream in the back of my freezer, but it is so tightly packed, that i'm afraid i wouldn't get it all back in before it thawed....
i would like that without the banana.we have a juice/smothie maker and we make one that is called 17 a day.
ha! name that famous heart throb from the 70's - hint he performed with his brothers...
Kate, you are one of the few women I have heard say that about men. Good for you.
sounds good. Trouble is, everybody here buys bananas and then doesn't eat them, so when they start going soft I peel them and throw them in the freezer. So we have a lot of frozen bananas.
thanks mols, but i really can't take much credit - it's my genes and a bit of the nurture side of the nature/nuture debate... i have always provided for myself. don't htink i could be a "kept woman"
sue - let them get really disgustingly black then freeze them in bags - skins and all... makes the greatest banana bread/ muffins
crossy - add a vowel to that colour you just found...
I finally loaded a pic of Josh into my profile!
Frozen bananas in the blender make the best ice cream there is ..
hi torgone :) going to sneak a peek at jellen's new beau :)
I could do that, kate, although I'm trying to avoid too much added fat and sugar, and Frank has to eat gluten free, so breads and muffins are a bit problematic. We do have some gluten free baking mix, though, so i might try it. He needs to gain weight anyway :-) (but I most certainly do not!!)
in our's sue which i got from a juice/smoothie book, it's actually called japanese 17 a day and ha 1 apple,1pear,2cm cucumber,half unwaxed lime,1cm ginger,small handful of spinach,half stalk of celery,half a carrot,handful of kale,half a beetroot,1cm slice of pineapple,1cm chunck of broccoli stem,1cm courgette chunk,1cm parsnip,1cm fennel,1 small slice of red and yellow pepper
very handsome jellen... still a marine i take it?
Nope. Not still in, but used to the haircut. lol
Sue, gluten free is all the rage now. Do a Google search and you will find lots of gluten free banana bread recipes.
wow, that sounds amazingly healthy, lilli! I haven't started adding veggies to my smoothies yet but will try that eventually.
the grocery bill would cost a fortune for that! better like them enough to have 2 a day before it all goes bad...but yes, very healthy!
he's a good looking guy jellen
I was just thinking the same thing Kate. Plus, you need to have a juicer to get the proper blend for vegetables.
alot of that i have in my fridge anyway kate, but i use whatever i need to get rid of, so it might be more of something, as in veg so i just add pineaplle from a tin and a few more apples to make it swetter
I agree with lilli, jellen! Good for you!
if you freeze all the veggies first, it should help make them mushy enough to work well....and less ice needed. any way, it does sound like an interesting combination of flavours
j is definitely "drool-worthy" ;)
it actually isn't expensive as you are having a chunk of a vegetable a day and not the whole thing
Hello to my fellow babblers! How is everybody doing today?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! Way to go!
Hi Min, nice car.
if i have asparagus and cut the tips off when i cook them i keep them and juice them aswell, i don't always do a 17 a day, i just use what i have but add some fruit to make it sweet and apples and pineapple are the best, so i buy tinned pineapple as it is cheaper and i haven't got ot chop it
hi min :) long time no see!
Hi there TraderKate!Yes,long time no see. Where ya been?
You just keep right on drinking your mush, L. : P
hi min!
Hi there MollyL and uusue2!Hope you guys are well tonight
ty for colour +vowel, kate.i had wandered away for a minute
I am good, min!
tinned pineapple has become very cheap here, especially compared to other canned fruits, no idea why though... going through an extended rough patch min, but now have some accesss to internet that is free, so i'm back :)
hi min :)
howdy min and welcome to the grid;))
free internet is the best internet;)
Hello crosshair and thank you! Hope you are doing well too
new entry in the physics babblets - dy8, which is apparently an old term for a type of tetrode - used in radios before we had transistors
yw crossy, gonna wander away for a bit too, must eat my salad and make some garlic bread before i starve to death...
my beloved and i are both fine min and the 19 year old son continues to eat the fridge bare every second day
((((kate)))) sorry to hear you are having a tough time
suze,i remember the tetrodes as i used to dabble in the old tube radios
(19 year old boys... human garbage disposals with hollow legs)
the final tubes in those used to scare the crap out of me.the stepped up voltage was staggering
I hope your extended rough patch ends soon. Sorry to hear
yes, I remember the tetrodes too but the dy8 was new to me
thanks crossy and min, no worries :)
but, those old tube radios with their big speaker and tubes warming up..they used to give a different sound, not better, but something intangible.more warmth, more soul..comforting
there is still a market for analog sound systems (rather than digital) for that very reason, crossy
yes and amps for guitars.the old ones are much coveted
lurker mode whilst making gaarlic bread...
the last time I taught digital circuitry I played Jimi Hendrix's version of the Star Spangled Banner for the class, to show them what analog can do that digital can't
i once had a restored normadie tube radio it had am/sw/sw1/sw2/sw3 with all the marking for the broadcasts from different countries.i miss it.even though my iphone can dial in thousands of stations from around the world,it is not the same
it is amazing what the old tube units can do
no fm yet when this was made for ww2 broadcasting
the history that poured through this unit.just to think of it.ahh well, maybe it is just me.i have always had a weakness for antiques
my wife says i was born 100 years too late
Great demonstration of analog vs. digital, Sue.
indeed, there is a depth,a richness.best i can compare it to is high speed b&w photography vs our colour digital pictures
i would choose a proper camera naytime over a digital image... and a turn table and 33 rpm over an itunes download.....
i still have the floyd wall album made for the old quadrophonic systems.there is nothing finer
fireworks!
yaa for suze!!
congratulations sue!!!!

hello ladies! back again? Tom and I are reviewing the contract for the house building and we have questions... ARGH. Why does it all have to be so complicated!
YAY peach1
Yay!! wtg peach!!! :D
congratulations peach!!! and you would have finished, you just needed to take a 5 minute break - it does wonders !
hi stid. contracts always are!!
welcome bck stiddie! how was dinner? don't let a stupid contract spoil a perfectly nice evening
sorry, but i need to go to bed now. lovely seeing you at this time of the morning kate and great seeing peach and stid and everyone else that was here earlier. tc all:D
dinner was nice. Went to an "all you can eat" place and wasn't hungry enough to eat more than two plates of sushi. Good sushi. Usually I eat three plates and then get a plate of fruit for dessert, but too hot to be hungry this day.
sweet dreams lilliann. Have a lovely week!
good night liliann, see you tomorrow :)
i know what you mean stiddie, heat shuts my appetite down too,,,, i just ate a litttle while ago, cool salad and garlic bread... now just looking for some choclit ;)
oh, that sounds like a divine meal, kate! Do you have trailing blackberries where you live? They didn't have them in Virginia, but they are "locally abundant" here. They bloom in May, and are already coming ripe here. Smaller than the bigger Himalaya (which are invasive) berries, and more tart, they have an exquisite flavor that is perfect on hot days. I picked some today when we were at the house (and some thimbleberries) and they didn't last long.
we have blackberries here, but i don't think they are "trailing"... the blackberries and raspberries aren't ready here yet. presently the mullberries are ripe for the picking. we have thimleberries too, but it's too soon for them as well... i had a go at some mullberries yesterday (right off the tree- living dangerously lol). i find simple meals that are at least partly cool rather than hot are better on hot days- though we have cooled off a lot in the last day - it's only a bit too hot rather than swealtering now...
mmmm mulberries! I have a mulberry... shrub? it is a sad little thing, really doesn't like where I put it, but it's still alive. I hope, this fall, to figure out a better location for it. The only thing about mulberries is the pithy center.
I think I am done reviewing the contract. It is pretty straightforward, only 4 pages of 8-point font, and then addenda at a legible font. Tom scanned the document so I could read it in biggie-size.
ha. down to 20. listing now
the contract doesn't sound too awfully horrendous... do you have a third party to give it a look as well? another set of eyes never hurts, especiallly when it will affect your future for ages to come. why, oh why don't they incorporate the addenda? they have these modern gadgets called computers which negates the need to re-type documents... i believe you are right mulerries are shrubs, but they can grow to tree height. dont mind the "unremoveable" stem of them, they are tasteless and very tender. they make a great cobbler :)
go, stiddie, go!
A third party would be nice... I wonder if my friend who is an attorney would look at it for us. He is retired... but he didn't do this kind of law. Wish we were rich enough to have an attorney we could just call for things like this. *sigh*
hi all. clue for the 9 please.
hey mkg
an 9/54 a person who makes notes about texts
that's a great idea stiddie, any pair of eyes is good, and he may be able to reccommend someone ... hopefully someone who will do it as a favour... do you have "legal beagles" down there - consultant for every-day law, usually studying for laew school?
hi mkg :)
got it. ty
great clue.
hi all.
cant get more than 54 wrods.
words
we don't have a lot of time left kate -- the financing we arranged will run out at the end of July and I don't look forward to refinancing again. There were things Tom and I should have been doing and pushing early on that we didn't know about... now we are looking at how much longer insurance will pay the extra costs for living expenses...
go mkg go!
kate, do you have the re 6? I am not seeing it
i didn't realize that stiddie, is it possible the insurance company can help you get the advice you require. was it the insurance company's job to help you through this? shouldn't they have told you some of this stuff?
now at 68. any clues for the 8s?
re 6 /27 to place new tiles on hte top of your new home ;)
some of it, but some of it no. And they did tell us to do several things, but getting Tom to understand that they needed doing NOW was not in my power. *sigh* I don't EVER wait until the last minute, and he ALWAYS does.
re 8/55 ruru clued as: start of TNT + old popular sci fi movie
gah. thanks kate. LOL one of the things we are doing! once we have a house to put it on...
down to 5
tnt? tnt is tnt. what more is there? i dont get it.
that was one of my last few words stiddie.. na 8/40 one who tells a story
ne 8/40 referrinf to newborns... think ne_____ ward
got the ne 8. ty.
fw
what does wylie cyote use to try to blow up the road runner? for the tnt...
is it Canada day tomorrow kate?
still dont get re eight. old sci fi movie eludes me too.....
trinitroglycerine, mkg, is the chemical that alfred nobel made his fortune on.
the old sci fi movie.. the guy became a player trapped in a video game...
there is no RE 8. NE 8 is a newborn baby word
NA 8 is the person who tells the story in a movie or book
or modern technology uses elec****ics
sorry
DY 8/55
sorry never saw it. never saw sci fi except for et, and the other one by spielberg where they land on the flat top mountain out west.
but clue holds...
protons, neutrons, and elec****s
dy is the TNT part + clue about sub atomic particles ?
DY 8 another way to spell singer di**h shore's first name + kate's list at 11:21
now i am very confused. there are only 3 8s and there are four clues.
11:21
there is no re 8 - my bad dy 8 is what you need
i got dy 8. ty super clues.
jj walker was "kid ****mite"
in "good times" tv show
so just need that third one. have ne and dy. what is third? re or ban?
I will step out of the loop now, and talk to tom about this contract some more. back in a little bit I hope
re or na? and i need a clue. stud dont step out.
na 8/40 was the story teller
good luck lighting the fire under him stiddie ;)
there is no re 8
i got the na. ty. have all three 8s now. ty very much.
off to bed.
sorry about the bad clues mkg, hagn :)
hi all, column 5 done, woot
hi gwen :) nice going ;)
8-)
you look a bit bable-blind....
or perhaps your secret identity is a big ol' hooty owl?
huh?
8-^
it is nice of the babble gods to give us one E, ain't it LOL
11:27 - eyes look big and round like an owl's
fortunately, the e is well placed ;)
oh, that. them's me glasses!
watch for the r's raining down on the grid!
pardon me missus, i didn't recognize you with your cyber specs on...
8-O
8-D
i 'ope you won't take no offense...
who, me, take offense? that's against my religion LOL
but you are dalek, you have no religion...do you?
my icon might exterminate me, but yes, i have a religion
shhhhhh, it might hear you <passes tin foil hat>
lol
i am watching "shameless" on tv now, what a great show, that no one ever heard of (except for some of the brits)
yep, i never heard of it, all right
Ms are Manhandled
not surprised, like a lot of uk productions, it was a very limited run by design... the yanks re-made it using william h macy as the lead, but ohterwise they didn't change a thing...
are you working from lickety?
i'm not using licktey, but i do have a cheat sheet of sorts, a list of weird words in alpha order
ah! your own more words! methinks you have too much free time ;) you never use the list, do you?
i use the list sometimes, when the grid is not too large, and i have already got at least half the words (sometimes i try to get 2/3)
i try to get half way too before i go to the greata and powerful lickety (time permitting) don't know what i'd do without it most times!
can't say i have a lot of free time, but yes, i do spend a lot of my free time boggling. i have three boggles that i play, including this one
how do you cram it all in? that's a lot of hunting and head scratching!
grrrrrr......
trader! what are you doing on so late? did you get internet at home????
hi jmc :) why thly face?e snarl
what happened there???? why the snarly face?
i is snarling because i just found out that the quaker event i am at has allowed my stalker to attend and didn't bother to mention it until I had traveled to colorado and spent a fortune. . .
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
heavens, no, i don't play all three every day. mainly i play babble, but when i want "more action" i play wordsplay.net (three-minute rounds, then a new grid) and . . .
i don't like timed games. . .they give me the willies
i have the loan of a laptop from the internet cafe for today and monday (long weekend here) i have to "test drive it" it is reconditioned... using the new neighbour's internet form upstairs... this is only temporary
holy cow, a quaker stalker???
he is mentally ill but presents well. . .
so they keep giving him the benefit of the doubt. . .
would talking to the cops help jmc??? should i be concerned? really concernede? should we send ruru up to help... or stiddie?
. . . and i play bookworm occasionally, which has even more "action" than wordsplay
well it is nice to have you here in the evening. . .
if he's unbalanced you should introduce him to scientology LOL (joking!)
i got the cops to boot him out several years ago in normal, ny. . . . and they told me he was banned from futher gatherings. . .
hehe book. . .cute.. .but *ahem* you should be ashamed of yourself. . .
just looked a the clock -- 9 minutes and 44 words to go, oh well
i am so made i could eat nails that they didn't think they needed to tell me. . . i almost didn't come this year. . .
and i don't mean fingernails!
i am a universalist unitarian, and we are so liberal we often have guest speakers present "opposing viewpoints" -- one time a guy from scientology, and i swear he was psychotic
too bad you don't have anything in writing about that jmc - from ny, i mean... can church elders do nothing?
i am so tired of everyone saying. . .oh jmcn you are so strong i am sure it didn't bother you. . . .
alas there are no elders in friends. . . we are all equal. . .
aren't they all psychos gwen?
certainly not, if it were me, i'd be pissed off and shaking
oh it took them 5 years after normal to ban him
i'd be hopping mad too, jmc! don't let anyone downplay it on you!
he was a member of your group?
but wow, he must really be far gone if he got banned by quakers! (even if it didn't last)
i am suppose to work on the information desk, do a presentation, clerk an anchor group, oh. . . and meet with the finance committee about a problem. . . but i am not important enough to tell when they decided he could redeem himself. . .
i kid you not book . . . it takes some doing to get banned by quakers. . . .
they have let you down, jmc! forgiveness may be important, but it is you that is to forgive - no them.
we UUs look and quakers and only dream we can be that tolerant (in general, not when it come to stalkers, i mean)
do you remember a few years back when i got all freaked out by someone on FB trying to friend my 14 yearold niece by claiming to be my friend? he tried to friend some babblers too and i had to post everyong not to friend him. . .
loot at (OY)
ack, look! super crepe)
it would probably ruin the whole thing for you, but can you get one of them to make sure you are accompanied at all times while carrying out your duties?
i am actually thinking about seeing how much it would cost for me to go home tomorrow. . .
if i cried i would be in tears. . .
don't remember that, but then i tend to forget (or ignore) weird stuff like that. do you remember this person's babble handle?
i got so worried i asked dr god and dr god said he was not a babbler. . . but he was trying to friend everyone on FB including babblers. . .
well, i will be running away to avoid the flip, see yu all tomorrow, and all the best to you, jmc
or his real name... i accept most babblers right away, even if i don't run into them in chog
bye book thanks for listening.. . .
Steve Oshensky
i got him booted from FB (at least for a while)
bye gwen, have a good night :)
was he stalking you JM?
yes ru he was
