*so glad it was a small one. I have to leave early
good, I know you will be glad to get that done and over with
any more showings on your property?
the mother is still in the hospital, and surprise, surprise, she isn't improving, because they insist she doesn't ne4 a diet free of cane sugar. SIL still running around like aheadless chook.
Ru, did you get to catch the colts game?
sorry to hear that, rose
i did.. it was awful
what can i do? have told them time and again.
did your SIL count her chickens Granny?
awful? why
my team got crushed
lol, only the ones in her basket, ruru
lol! luck of the draw, I guess
IMAGINES headless chook
talk about a bad comb over :D
ruru, have you never seen a chook just after it's head has been cut off?
lolol, wattle you think of next?
no.. but people tell me I dance like that
roflol, i can just imagine.
lol, when hubby was a little guy, he had the job of chopping the turkey's head off - it dragged him around for a bit
I couldn't do it.. I couldn't chop a head off
* mind pictures are making me cringe* headless chooks get up and run around the yard, then all of a sudden they keel over.
well, when you live on a farm and that's what it done, you learn young
is that what you do, ruru?
that's a boneless chicken ranch granny :D
I don't think he has done it since though
lolol, ruru
it's kind of an eggestential thing granny
lol, then your eggo is intact.
ru, I have ce 7... what is the other 7 please?
hello, all!
I'm glad I'm not looking at the4 chog.
hi rbud
hey rbud and jilli

to not fail
cute icon, rbud!
ah good, he finally responded...i thought maybe he had run around and keeled over.
got it ty
ty, jilli, I love Snoopy.
i was working on my photo albumen granny
btw, my granny used to just grab the chickens by their wittle heads and spin them till off they came, then came the running around... quite the sight to see when you're about 7 or 8 years old...
will it give me a snapshot of your life, ruru?
*watches joke fly out the window*
I'll also never forget the smell of boiling feathers right before plucking. and yet I still love chicken, go figure
along with the headless chicken....
I would have been traumatized rbud
There was a grocery store in Shanghai called Dombey & Son, and I remember seeing dead chickens hanging by their feet in a row.
lets see how many 'why did the chicken cross the ro4' jokes we can come up with.
well, such is life on the farm. I remember being surprised, but it beat the old axe on the stump, really
remember seeing in China Town here in Toronto
why didn't the punk chicken cross the road granny?
lolol, don says...because it was stapled to someone's head.
no.. it was stapled to the road
:D
roflol...good one. why did the chicken cross the ro4?
because the dinosaurs were extinct.
phant -- tornado
To boldly go where no chicken has gone before?
*giggle* maybe the next generation, rbud.
:D
I'm off to bed, very tired tonight. Started the quince jelly today, cooked and strained the juice - tomorrow will boil it with sugar and seal it
night flosey, sweet jelly dreams! :)
20 words to go, can get them done. goodnight all
night, flosey. hope you sweet dreams...lol
Bet you were jamming flosey
Bet she wasn't pectin that joke
*rolls eyes* lolol, and trying not to cough...
nbt/nbs and too tired for more. Have fun, all...*poof
ahh, jilli and my guess is ruru also, have left the chog. hope you both have a wonderful sleep, and awake refreshed. in your own beds, that is...;P
you leaving rose
*happy sigh* no dear, was about to, but you popped your pretty head up.
Iam into the grid
hun, have sent you an email
you have to work tomorrow
oh okay
yes, very early start as we are having a ward meeting first.
does that count as part of your five hours
going for coffee, brb
my two favorite answers to why the chicken crossed the road, after some research...
To become poultry in motion. and...
yes, pugs
to prove to the opossum that it can be done. lol!
* chuckling* rbud
oh, dear...that is too funny
soooo many squished 'possums on roads around here, I had to laugh
absolutely, ditto here...and you don't see a lot of squished chickens on the ro4, do you?
nope! don't think I've ever seen one!
maybe headless....now that's another story altogether...
or wild turkeys, either, though there are often flocks of them along the edge. they seem car-smart.
back again
wb pugs
its chilly here in the house this morning, so I had to throw a blanket over the dogs
awwww.... this will be my first winter in ages without our little dog, she used to burrow under the afghan on the couch with me.
I keep wanting to spell toffee
I tried that a couple times, too
thats hard when we lose our pets. Are you planning on geting another one
sort of. some folks in town are expecting a litter of little chihuahua-pomeranian crosses, likely to be black, I'm intrigued.
awww, rbud. it is difficult to adjust to their absence isn't it?
but I don't ususally like "yappers" - our little dog had a full-sized dog bark. we'll have to see.
good morning all
that will be nice for you. Nothing like a puppy to liven things up
yes, it is. pops up at the oddest times.
{{spritey}} xoxoxox
morning, sprite! :)
Morning Sprite--hugs to you today
hi all
*hugs to rose and pug and rbud and joso*
hiya, jo!
Hi joso
and the joso is back....sire, your harem awaits your words of wisdom...
hi sprite, rbud, pug, rose
one of these days you are going to get me seriously in trouble rose
you wish, joso, you wish
rbud are you the one redoiing your kitchen
yes! and it's coming down to having to really get busy, as there are parts where cold air will get in if I don't take care of it.
well sprite, some mistakes are just too much fun to make only once
nah, mate, you can do that without my help...
lol joso, couldn't have put it better
yeah winter is creeping upon us here
just back from diabetes nurse... sugar too high, but over last 2 weeks pretty ok, and with therapy starting next week, she didn't think we needed to go higher with the meds. Back in 2 months :)
chilly here too, should turn off the air conditioning soon
good report, then sprite. well done, sweetie
:)
yes, very well done, keep up the good work sprite
ROFLOL joso, it's chilly...AND you are running the aircon???
good job Sprite--you're getting there
blood tests one week before next appt, urine test and eye test. Glad I have 2 months now, is easier. And she was happy with how I did my own blood test.
hes got money to blow,Rose
are you rotating through your sites on your fingers, hun?
every time I turn it off we get another warm spell
lolol pug :)
lol pugs
yes, I am since you told me so, rose. Once on every spot in almost 3 weeks.
it doesn't turn on when its cool
good, no bruising or scar tissue on spritey's finger tips.
poor joso, never easy with all those teasing women, huh
I tell ya, they don't make harems like they used to
joso, you should hear DH trying to fathom the mother's logic.
lolol
probably the lack of eunuchs to keep us in check
she simply cannot grasp the concept of a thermostat. and she turns her heaters off because she thinks they will run all night
aw poor woman.
how cool does your temps drop to Rose
when DH tries, yet again, to explain to her, i can hear his voice getting higher and higher...he gets so frustrated.
we have been into the minuses...centigrade that is.
*giggles* I can picture him, rose. And I can relate. Nothing more frustrating that trying to explain that water is wet.
than, not that
is she afraid of a fire
nope, pugs, she's afraid that they won't turn off....
she has done this by turning off the heaters her whole life and can't learn a new trick anymore.
pugs minus 0 degrees centigrade is below 32 fahrenheit.
Iam so cool right now Iam about to put on a pair of gloves--lol
hehehe, i know the feeling, my ex would get cold and then crank the thermostat to max, then I wake up sweating thinking I've caught something, until I see the temp is at 85
oh nice, pug. Better than wayyyy too hot.
I thought it was warm there year around
omg that is horrible, joso. I SO hate a warm bedroom.
DH went into her rooms and sticky-taped over the on/off switches. and she STILL tried to turn them off. and then she complains because she's cold the next morning. go figure.
me too! I keep my thermostat at 68
she never got the idea of turning it up a couple of degrees.
aw I feel for her. Must be so frustrating when you can't regulate your own temp anymore. But I feel for you two as well, grin.
would she sleep with a electric blanket
we usually have the thermostat at 18 celcius. Sometimes in the evenings we put it on 20. And at night it goes to around 14. In summer it is off alltogether.
she work it the same way
I wait until the last straw to start up the furnace
can't you remove the regulators from the radiators?
no, dear. will persist in taping over them...
hang it from the ceiling where she cant reach it
very good. Duct tape might do it ;) Carton beneath so she cannot get a grip on the regulator through the duct tape.
at least that way she won't be too hot at night and still be warm enough in the morning.
oh, good idea, hun...will convey that to himself
hard to believe there are words over 6 letters in this weird grid
we leave the thermostat uncovered, so she can turn it up and down. she is supposed to turn it down at night, but just lately has started to turn it off. and that is the bone of contention. she hasn't done it before.
how is she doing by the way
still in the hospital, and the SIL is still running around taking care of her ne4s.
is it a turn thermostat or does it have a slide?
very good, that, rose. Am so glad SIL is experiencing this herself now.
and rose, how did work go today?
you can get a lock box to go over the thermostat, or a new thermostat that needs a code to change the settings
turn, sprite. and i have written down exactly what she has to do, i even told her to stick her tongue in her left cheek, lol
tiring, sprite. our lovely manager is back, was ever so glad to see her.
darn. a turn thermostat is hard to protect against turning off. Lol at the tongue in cheek... funny that we all do that, isn't it!
is that sarcasm or is it really the lovely manager?
joso, would be difficult to fit such a device. these are free standing heaters.
*smiling* sprite she is an absolute sweetie.
ah, working from 1 central thermostat here
ah, then I am happy for you. She can at least help you make sure you don't overdo things. *hugs* for the fatigue. Quite a job you have there, sigh... wish you could take things easier.
she has finally got access to her new office. she was so chuffed. she spent most of today 'moving' in.
is this the manger that is so helpful with the gov insurers ?
now we just have to kick the doctors out of the girls' new changeroom...lol...all our lockers will have boy germs on/in them.
ewe cooties
no, joso, that is another completely different person.
well good to have 2 in amin who are good. Have you thought about the promotion offer more?
promotion offer? You got a promotion offer? Why didn't I know that??? :)
hmmm, not really a promotion. i would have to move to a contract, with a yearly remuneration. i would lose all the extra pay from overtime and on-call work.
ah... that is not a good offer then.
alternate job offer then
*giggle* sprite, they want me to move out of nursing, and into quality control
still thinking on it...my heart is really in nursing...
doesn't sound like a reasonable offer though. They should at least make sure you make the same amount as now.
less strenuous in qc, g'rose?
exactly, sprite. and no equal offer has been made. and, yes, rbud, less strenuous in qc.on both counts, physical and mental.
what do you want Rose
so, more basic pay and more regular hours, but no o/t and desk work instead of helping people directly, is that a decent summation?
oh, and with the contract, less job security in the long run
yup, joso.
i want to be a nurse...nothing el4...waaahhhh!!
that is the worst part. They can get rid of you with a contract too easily. Better stay put. And how about the rent situation?
so be a nurse, what's the problem?
plus side...i have only 5 1/2 years to go, until i can retire. they might see fit to pay me out...
*whispers to joso: her LEG is the problem*
oh that would be awesome, rose.
lololol....what sprite said, joso
oh, like an early out package?
am not going to accept a payout, until they fix the knee.
that is smart. You need the insurance.
Ah, I thought there was a real chance leg gets better after next surgery
ex DIL has advised me to make sure the knee is completely fixed first.
she is a good 'un, your DIL
sure they're not trying to pussyfo4 around into gently saying either take the qc or go? (I don't trust employers in general, can you tell?)
no, mate. sadly no...could be up for 4th bout of surgery if this doesn't work.
rbud, I was thinking the same thing
oy, sorry to hear that rose
just had a friend who has always been a nurse get let go, she was past retirement age but it was still a surprise to her, she thought she was secure in her job.
as a friend of mine at work said, stay completely unemotional. otherwise they will play on your emotions. trying very hard to be aloof.
she didn't want to retire, but they pretty much insisted.
good advice
rbud, have been playing this game for over 40 years. up until about 3 years ago i was able to retire last year, now i have to work another 6 years.
is there a time limit on the job offer?
no, joso, nothing formal has been set down. these peeps are so sly. will not put anything into writing. just verbal hearsay.
I would not even consider such an offer then, rose. Let them put any offer in writing and tell them you will have it looked at by your lawyer.
well, as long as you're not about to let them slip anything over on you, I feel better. (((hug)))
stick with what you have, at least until all that can be done for the leg is done. If offer still open later and you want it then get a signed contract before you leave nursing.
*giggle* i still have them over a barrel re my total knee replacement. the statute of limitations doesn't run out for another 5 years. gosh they can be sooo dumb.
that is a good thing in all the mess then, rose :D
you could stay for those 5 years and then let them buy you out for the remaining half ;)
maybe i should start spouting that info around the work place. it's marvellous how a hospital grape-vine still works.
tell it to a gossip with the pertinent instruction NOT to tell it to anybody el4. It will be over the hospital before you get back to your desk.
yeah,,lol...sprite
do you have a time yet on when the surgery might be now
by the end of the week, pugs....at least i hope so.
thats great, not too much of a delay at all
is this being done at the hospital where you work
on another tack...DH's cough would probably not annoy me so much, if it was quieter...lol
wow, that is soon.
yes, pugs, and yes, joso
morning everyone
morning Katie!
you will regret it if you smother him in his sleep rose
morning Katie
g'day katie. how are you, sweetie?
poor Don.
hi katie
yeah, i know, joso, no more surprises....
good thanks rose, hope all is well with you
those things happen when you keep fanning the blankets :)
sprite, you should hear him throwing up...sounds like he's giving birth to a fog-horn...
lovely, katie. good to hear
my love does the same thing, rose. Very noisy. But they are not doing it for the fun of it...
what? Hes got the flu now?
Sprite by the way how is your son?
pugs, he is still recovering from bilateral pneumonia, viral bronchitis and an acute exacerbation of his asthma.
he is trying, pug, some of the time. For the rest he seems to want to force another fight. Very hostile, very obnoxious. Am going to call today to hear when we will have another session with the family. Tim is having sessions every week now with his therapist.
yes, i know, sprite. but there is such a thing as being discreet.
is his coughing causing him to up-chuck? And Sprite is your son still sick too
good orning, cookies!
being discreet when vomiting is more of a womanly thing, I think. Let's be honest. Who cares? You feel awful and stuff has to leave your body... heck with the discretion, bring on the helping troups!
hiya ruby :) *hug*
Hugs Ruby and Hello
no, pugs, he's just being very 'vocal' when he coughs.
hi ruby
ooohhh, ruby...xoxoxox
pug: no, he is back to school. Still a cough and running nose, but feeling much better.
*chuckling* sprite
He feels bad and wants you to notice that maybe
;)
hugs for rosie, puglet, sprite and josie and anybody I missed
joso !!
*giggles* to rose, JoSo is one of the girls
if I'm josie, are you all the pussycats?
I am aqiting a friend from lexulous who is travelling around SE France with her husband in their camping car. I have no idea when they are arriving, late this morning,I think, but it might be fun.
Meow!
"what's up pussycat... la lalalala la..."
oh how lovely, ruby!
I've been playing lex with her for 2 years, but we've never met.
Husband is being a good sport
ruby, I am not getting lexulous to open on my tablet. It gives a continuous error message.
yay, ruby...but am so jealous...wish it was me...:(
after your surgery, Rosie! You can rest up here, just sleep and eat
will you feed me? i like my grapes peeled...
ruby will take the bestest care of you, rose. Great food, nice company, lots of rest. And for the relaxation, great games of scrabble.
oohhhh, scrabble .....haven't played that since robyn died...we used to have such games...anyone listening would have thought we were bitter enemies.lol

*pearl
An octopus uses its T**t**** to grab its prey. just add a C at the start of the word.
*poof*
Good day to all. Anybody here?
mornin, Scrabbler
just logged on, coffee is brewing
Hi Aloy. Why are you awake so early?
good question
let me think about that.. (-:
I'd still be in bed if I didn't have to work.
what time do you prefer getting up? about 8am suits me
Depends when I go to bed. 10pm-6am on work night. Last Fri night 1am-10am.
flexibility is the best part of retirement, so no schedule.. I woke up at 5:50am sharp for so many years
I especially like the choice of a nap around 2pm
On Friday I was game doc for the high school football game, so I got home late and was revved up.
ooh, did the home town win? was it rainy?
Beautiful day--80/sunny--and evening. We lost. One boy hurt is knee and missed the second half. Our QB. He was crying.
It is absolutely fascinating to be on the sideline. Male behavior, football players and coaches, is fascinating to observe.
aw, sorry.. hate to see any injuries.. and what about the female behavior too? rah rah sis boom bah
Well, I SO dislike cheerleaders and their behavior--obsession with beauty and popularity. Ugh. I would rather see a girl PLAY a sport than cheer the boys on.
ditto here
but cheerleading can be an athletic activity too.. and so you might argue that girls are playing a role, participating ..
however, making the squad being equated with one's self-worth is not too healthy
That has been debated--a sport? It's a combination of dance and gymnastics. And a high rate of injuries. But I do not like the mentality.
And the football mentality is dangerous too--bulk up, weightlifting, aggression, play when hurt, macho-ism....and the things the coaches say to the players...ugh.
I know what you mean... do not like the Miss America and other beauty pageants.. while we are talking about activities that just don't seem right
Yes, beauty competitions are unhealthy.
froy
Not a word. I'll try to put a real word in the chat.
frodo from troy
I am thinking of Froyo--frozen yogurt brand.
my Bonnie lies over the oc5, earworm

hi, everyone. help with the oo6?
cryptosporidium is one - sorry It's not easy to give a clue to
thankx Jax.
tadone!! finito!!
How many words are there
117
THanks. I don't think I'll finish this one. I'm struggling with 60 to go!
Hello all! WooT WooT WooT dawg!!
Do you use Lickety's list?
I do sometimes, but I like to get as far as i can before I list
I like closure, so I often use it.
I use it less these days, but if I have time I do use it
From what I read here, some think using it reflects a character weakness.
I have to start at the top and work my way down if I use lickety so I find it frustrating when I can't get a word in order!
you know that you can copy your list and enter it in Lickety when you decide to use it....it's bulk add....
<---admits to using Lickety most grids...sometimes I don't actually list, but use it to find words for nbt
i usually get as many words as I can without listing....try for nbs, nbt....and when i get desperate, i list....
I know that and I do, but I start at the top of the list of the words I've not got. I'm currently on the 7th ca!!!
everyone has their own system....
I quite like it when there are lots of requests for help in the chog when I'm using lickety as it stops me being quite so rigid!!
<-----♫♫♫ I did it MYYYYY WAAYYY ♫♫♫
And their needs change over time, Penguis
I think it's amusing that people are shamed by using the list, but not by getting outright answers from people in chat. Everyone has their own way of going about this thing.
sorry, quis
and the terror of the penalty box??
There is no terror involved in the penalty box. : )
LOL...lots of goodies to be had in the PB!!

Bac to cooking dinner for this hungry bunch.
Hi, all, let's see if I can finish this mini-grid
hello sue
hi wv!
so far I am making myself feel silly.
why silly?
missing really obvious words (to the point where I'm needing morewords to find them). Oh well.
many really twisty words today
ok, the el6 makes me feel a little better - not a common word
feeling pressured - i was gone all day so behind in getting started
I stayed up too late last night and did a bunch right after the flip
but Frank and I have been talking about getting ourselves onto some kind of sensible schedule (rather than staying up until 1 and getting up at 11) so maybe tomorrow I will have more time
not ever around for the flip but usually do some in the early morning before going out for the day but no time today
I'm never around for the flip anymore either. 10:00 bedtime for me.
usually out the door by at least 9 - this morning had to be out by 7:30
that's what we plan to aim for, bea
and 7:30 is early, wv, I see why you didn't have much time!
fireworks! I guess that wasn't so bad after all...
wow, that was quick sue, congrstas
thanks! Once I get Expert up it doesn't usually take me long
anyway I can clue if anyone would like....
Thanks Sue but I think everyone has finished and flown the coop. : )
oh well - that does happen with these smaller grids
I'm still hanging on with 23 left
You should be out on the beach, dancing in the moonlight.
Too full from dinner.
Finished for a change. Good night all. I caught the family cold and am feeling not my usual perky self.

Good night Gran Mere. Sending healing blessings your way.
congtsats grsandmere
Now I'm off to dance on the beach...pfft!
Happy dancing, bea!

Yes Nef, the flashcubes that turned around on the camera as you took a picture.
My first camera was a box camera with the "old-fashioned" flash bulbs; my 2nd camera had the "modern" flash cubes

I love the new Pope. And I have no problem with the religion in which I was raised. I've just moved on to a different place with all that.
S's Succumbed! 1 left
I was worried I might have to leave as well, new Pope has changed that so far...
LOL! It took me forever to find that ce 7 word too; and now that I'm reading back I knew that word from the Bible!
GO minv!!
Thanks much, Jilly, Molly and joso.
I love the fact that a new Pope with ideas that reflect our current society has Catholics happy about their choice of religion again.
Molly, my house is very small....2 bed a bath but I just don't have the energy to clean anymore. I met these ladies while they were cleaning for a neighbor and I think they are trustworthy. And not priced out of sight.

Ce 7/36 (n.) c.1400, from Old French ce 7/36, variant of cenaille (14c., Modern French cé 7), from Latin cenaculum "dining room," from cena "mid-day meal, afternoon meal," literally "portion of food," from PIE *kert-sna-, from root *(s)ker- "to cut" (see shear (v.)). Latin cenaculum was used in the Vulgate for the "upper room" where the Last Supper was eaten.
