wtg
how is everyone tonight?
tired; how about you?
haha also tired
glad i don't have to get up tomorrow morning until i feel like it
lol
But you have the whole weekend to look forward to - hear we've only half of it left!
here!!!
true lol
why, Liz?
oh i was misunderstanding that
i thought you meant you had half a week left of work haha
Why? It 3.30 Saturday afternoon!
No work!
yeah i got that ;) i did live on your side of the world for 2 years, so i know
Happily early retired!
i did bring home work i have to do this weekend, though
Not good, Rows!
eh, comes with the territory
i love my job, so there have to be drawbacks once in a while
Teacher?
yeah
Me too - well, ex-teacher!
are you retired?
Yes - at 54.9 - hubby said come and retire to Australia (from London). Didn't take much twisting of the arm!
nice :)
well then, why are you complaining about only half a weekend left?!
you haven't got work on Monday :P
I wasn't really! I was thinking of those here who do work!
ah, gotcha
what did you teach?
Primary - most often 10 & 11, specialising in English.
And you?
10 & 11 is primary??
Yes in England, primary is 4 - 11
10 & 11 years old, or 10 & 11 grades?
Age - not year
i teach kindergarten
or grade!
but it's really more like pre-kinder, since my kids are all 3 and 4
Grades 5 & 6 I guess that would be.
ah okay, i thought you meant 10th and 11th grades, haha
That takes a lotalot of patience!
i also specialize in English, mainly English as a Second Language, English as a Foreign Language
yeah, but i've had some pretty awesome colleagues over the years who have taught me a lot :)
There are some great teachers around!
yep
I don't miss it though - so much beaurocracy these days and not just in teaching.
Takes away from the important stuff.
true
i just try to stay on the outside of any drama, and do my job and enjoy it
I began to resent not having any free time at the weekends. So much planning, marking and other paperwork.
ah
yeah, i generally avoid that successfully
Marking 90 - 120 essays written by 10 and 11 years olds takes ages!
what i have at home this weekend is 4 days' worth of lesson planning, as well as writing homework in the homework notebooks, but i have gotten about half of those done already, too
typos!!!
gah, yeah, i don't miss marking essays
though i do enjoy teaching writing
thankfully, marking work at the kindergarten level is pretty quick
When I started, one term's lesson planning filled one note book. By the time I left we were expected to provide minimum of an A4 sheet per lesson!
bleh
i hate it when schools have specific requirements for lesson plans
I taught 6 - 7 year olds for one year - cute but never again! Too scary!
it should be something that's done for the teacher, and how the teacher needs it done
i mean, the teacher does it for him or herself
this was the way it went in the UK - not just in my school.
haha
3 and 4 year olds are bit easier
they generally are scared of imaginary things that you don't even threaten them with, so it's pretty easy to get them to do what you want :P
In the UK even teachers of 4 year olds had huge amounts of paperwork!
True! But I'm better with older kids.
you just count down from 5 or 10, and there's really nothing at the end of that countdown, but they imagine there's something horrible at the end of it haha
Then there was Ofsted - the inspectors!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d13gX-1\nHJg4
sounds ominous
That's a really funny song for teachers. Probably blew the chog - if so sorry. Probably also need to get rid of the n!
sorry to but in.......still teaching - and enjoying - my real bugbears are interfering politicians (election in 18 months what next?!!) and the threat of unconstructive inspection
that link didn't work
bugbears?
oh i get it sorry
bigger than irritations.........
yeah i just prefer to work for private schools
OK - try youtube and search for Fascinating Aida Ofsted song
less beauraucracy and a bit more freedom
also, generally more funding for materials and such
Dippnall - I loved the teaching - it was everything else that really got to me in the end!
I also had great colleagues and am still in touch with many of them in England.
with you there, Liz!
haha Ofsted doesn't sound pleasant
Try googling that Fascinating Aida song Dippnall - you'll love it!
i've got it
never not want to go into work - often quite eager (!) - but sometimes weary of interference........
Ofsted is not pleasant - causes stress no matter how good a teacher you are or how good the school is.
yeah
we haven't had an inspection for so long (nearly 7 years) so the concern of a visit seems ever-present
i don't understand how in Asia, teachers are so respected and everything, and yet in the US and apparently the UK, they're treated with suspicion all the time
I was looking through a FB page set up by pupils (now very adult) from the first school I taught in. So many familiar faces - really nostalgic!
here in Honduras, i don't see so much of that at least, but there's the other problem of school just being something you do during the day and then you go home and do nothing related to learning really
kids don't read books at home or really try their best on homework
at least i know in kindergarten if they aren't doing homework it's the parents' fault... i can blame someone other than my students
Lol!
well, i'm over half finished with this puzzle, and i'm tired
gonna call it a night and try a bit more tomorrow after sleeping
what time there Rows?
Sleep well Rows and enjoy your weekend.
thanks :) it's midnight here
have a good day, Liz and Dip
Good weekend then Rows - rest up for Monday!
hi and nbt
hi everyone, late call, started on laptop and don't like it at all
Hi Flosey
hi pugs, how are you tonight
Iam doing okay and you
may have to cancel out of weekend in Vancouver - called and warned them, stuffed up with cold and they don't need that
g'day from me
Hi Rose
hi rose
;-) hello friends
Thats too bad Flosey--Hope it dont last long
You have your fws Rose?
awww, flosey, how awful for you. and you were so looking forward to it too.
How are you Rose
yes, pugs. grid a little trickier than the la4 couple...lol
told them we'd call in the morning if any change - it's odd, only one side
then congrats to you
thanx hun
You the only one with it Flosey
yes but William and parents were at another child's b'day party and they picked up the cold from one of the children - just over it so don't want to reinfect them
flosey, if it's the same virus, their immune systems will be loaded.
I know what you mean there. If Ive got a cold I try not going arround friends and family too
but how would one know, rose
Are you feeling under the weather Flosey
hi Artictundra
is the cold going around develop with the same symptoms, and is the incubation period the same?
yes, headachy, stuffy
Hi Sal, nice to meet you
don't know, we'll just sit tight
unfortunately this is only time open to go over before I go East - and I must get over it before that
Iam kind of worried for you
echinacea and vitamin c in huge doses.
can't take a chance on missing TO, have booked flight
most colds run about 2 weeks
first I've had in years
lol rose, isn't it odd, had forgotten all about echinacea, we might even have it
Well you picked up the nasty bug somewhere
and any cough mixture with bromhexine in it. that stuff breaks up the ph6, and you recover very quickly.
i was so excited to see that word in the grid
write it down flosey. this stuff is what helped me to recover so quickly. didn't get to the yucky chesty stage at all
no cough, just in head
exactly, so stalemate it before it does.
rose, can you get it over the counter
good idea, can get it tomorrow, we haven't had colds for such a long time, out of all these things
yes pugs
hi all
will get it at the health food store
hi joso
Morning Joso
yes, pugs. over here you can. we have two varieties. one contain phenylephrine as well. but check with chemist before taking that one.
I think I will get some to have on hand
Flosey I do so hope you can nip this in the tush so you can go about your plans
yucky cheasty stage sounds like something i could get into, what are you applying, honey, whipped cream ?
have been drinking tea with honey all day
ahhh, more like vicks and heatpad
hope to get well flosey, I've been looking forward to meeting you, and it would be a great shame if you miss out on your kds and grandkids
did you scare them all away
I guess, too clever for my own good
well I really must take care and get rid of this - but I have a couple of weeks before flight to TO
4 yr old grandson came on the phone and was telling me all he'd been doing
Though I doubt i scared off Rose, probably a squirrel
nah...i'm here. and joso? thamx for your email
well, thanks everyone for straightening me out there, finally got it right and looking forward to meeting joso
pfft...;-P

Live it up Rose!
*taking stock of pantry* crackers, tick, booze, tick, popcorn, tick, cheese, aagghhh...out of cheese.
is this to setup for your party?
pugs, even it is only for one...lolol...yes, hun. got to get supplies in.
tutu cleaned and fluffed
wheres the gooey stuff?
oh, the tutu....*runs to wardrobe* yup, tutu cleaned and fluffed.
lol joso is it pink?
cabana boys lined up according to preference
tutu now a becoming shade of cream...was white 40 years ago...
I don't know pink, have only heard of the infamous tutu, never seen it.
hmmm, cabana boys....should i risk it? what the heck!! cabana boys, tick...er tickle.
o I see
Rose, I think you should post a pic of you in the tutu before it rots away
history of tutu...was mine, over 40 years ago, recently unearthed from wardrobe at my mother's house when we were cleaning/clearing it out ready for sale.
pugs, what? with only one leg in it? lolol
that's sweet that she kept the tutu for so many years
thats up to you what you put in it
tutu's have legs, I thought they were just a ruff cinched to the waist.
lol...pugs? did i tell you i have my la4 pair of toe shoes. i put them on, and was able to stand on my toes...still.
thats amazing is it not? lol
that toe stand is supposed to be one of the tougher athletic feats around,
*giggle* joso, you are so male...tutus have a bodice attached to the tulle. you have to climb into them, like a pair of trousers, and pull the bodice up, and pull the straps up over your shoulders.
that is amazing granny my ankles would snap in two
*giggle* just don't ask me to pirouette.
I thought the leotards where separate, ant the ruff the slightest of nods toward proprietary
the only way I might stand on my toes is with a bar over my head to hold on to--lol
ahh, leotards are different again. they are an elasticised garment, similar to the 'teddy'
my bodice is of brocaded silk.
only wore leotards once, one halloween when mom dressed the three of us up as elves. She had to talk long and hard to convince up they weren't girls cloths
joso lol the lure of candy helped right
as i remember It was a picture of robin that sold it in the end. Poor mom, she put a lot of work into those costumes, I'm sure she had visions of it all being for naught
robin hood that is
gotcha lol
*giggle* joso, i knew what you meant.
can not get one middle I grrr]
pink, i or l
oh, there was no question of us not going to get the candy, we could have knocked together some costumes somehow.
alternative spelling for homes for eskimos
I

that is too much, though Iam very thankful, it does not seem right
there is no price on that
you being out of work and all--

{{HUGS}} SPRITEY...thank-you sooo much for my card. you two are spoiling me too much.
yeah, much better, thankyou :)
am so happy it reached you, rose :)
not likely on my end! I rather think its the other way a round
nah. Friends don't measure in weight or amount of money or keeping count.
you two are the bestest(if thats a word) friends--hugs with much heartfelt grad.
in babble we can be deadest and darnedest, so we can be bestest too.
*giggle* what sprite said...
Ive been having havic with my body for the last two weeks and dont have a clue what my problem is. Iam just down wanting to cry at the drop of a hat and Iam so darn tired. I got to pry myself to get the smallest thing done. I must be going through a mid-life thing
sounds like you really need to see a doctor and have some bloodwork done, hun. So many possible things can cause this. Some of them easily mended even.
awww, pugs. what sprite said...and hugs and kisses...
Sprite, Rose is having a HUGE party next week end-llol
for one, I don't think it is a midlife thing.
ooooo how nice!
hi all
thanks guys
hi joso!
yeah, and everyone is invited...just byog.
buy your own what?
are you back, joso? does that you mean you have FW's?

s'okay, sprite. i will drink enough for anyone who can't be here...lolol
If I can find my wings I misplace I will be there
wow gratz joso!!!!!!!
WTG JOSO!!!!
lol rose!
good morning everybody
I knew it was grog or gin, some sort of booze
hi ruby :)
yeah w2g Joso and back at ya with the warmth and hugs
AND IT'S THE RUBY!!! xoxox hun
morning ruby
Morning Ruby, hugs
*hugs joso*
is grog a beer?
grog is alcohol in any shape or form...
old sailor booze
a grog is a hot toddy. But more broadly used as another word for booze.
brit ships had a grog ration
icy poles, ice-cream, ice cubes, soup, main course, dessert...
I've booked my flight (I wish)
back in the days of wooden ships and iron men
alright Ruby is coming too
roflol, ruby...be here in spirit...what are you? dark rum..bourbon...whiskey...brandy...vodk\na??
as opposed to the modern days of wooden men and iron ships
almost anything rosie
even tequila!
lol, sprite
oh, joso, not iron ships and wooden men? good...would hate to get splinters...lol
I will have to astral project to attend
polishing my dancing shoes
ironing y party dress
Iam not a boozer but Iam willing to try whatever
snap, rose, lolol
oh, dear, sprite....we think alike AGAIN!!
joso, it wouldn't be a party without you attending, at least in projection.
great minds, rose, great minds ;)
oh, yeah, joso, crossy, ruru, neil...
or not, of course
gotta have some men in the mix...lolol...not balanced otherwise...but then what is balanced?
thats right, send the cabana boys home, get the codger elite instead
I'd trade the whole cabana section for your company, joso
and how are we to have a stay over with men all over the place?
oh, so love the codger elite...come on down!
either under or on top, pug, your choice :)
:)
pugs...use your imagination...and if that fails..use the force...
you girls are bad!
not yet... but I might be ;)
absolutely, pugs. si6s under then skin are we..
there's a great Fr word in herwe, subite -- sudden
I tried it, ruby. Subiet is dutch, btw.
and what does that mean
the same thing, it means this instant, now
like "sudden death" = mort subite
sublet or subite?
lol
subiet....ahhh
is dutch and french close in being the same lang.?
german and dutch are closer.
hey mixi
not really, pug, they are from a different family. But we have loads and loads of french words in our language.
Hi Mix
hi mixi :)
hi mixi
hi all.
not knowing Dutch, I think it has more in common with German,Yiddish and English. However, there are certainly overlaps
hix mixi
for me, Dutch is a "friendly" language in that I can pick up a lot of what is said
hi*
french is a roman language, dutch a german(ic). But with all the sailing and commerce, the dutch has adopted many a foreign word.
How many langs. do you speak Ruby
and probably everybody in Holland speaks at least 2 languages. I think Sprite speaks 6! (very sart sprite)
smart*
wow Sprite!
Only French and English, pugs, but from watching TV,I find I can understand a little of this and a little of that, mostly by knowing the context and getting visual clues
that many? Nah. Dutch and english ok, german and french bearably. A few words and sentences japanese left. That is all.
that's a lot, sprite
Is your tv shows mostly in french there
*stocks the PB... looks like many will find their way there today*
yes, pugs,it's a constant struggle to find English-language shows that aren't dubbed because, since DHcan't hear, he has to read the Fr subtitles if it's in English. If it's in Fr, he's totally lost, even tho he reads it perfectly
did I do a bad thing, sprite?
no hun. I just found cl4 and thought I'd better stock up the PB
good idea, you can
you can't ask for he4 eigher
hahah, I didn't see it
*either
argh, too true. Double-stock for the PB.
tant pias, as they say ere or aunt went pipi I her bloomers
tant pis, what a shame, right?
or, worse, too bad or even tough sh** (but that's very NY) lol
*giggles*
must go, somebody is stomping around and I don't think it's a pup
lol, tell him hi from me
*woof*
bye Ruby
does anyone still speak flemish?
sure, half of the belgians do.
tnx, wondered if it had died out
no, not at all, but it is a belgian language, not a dutch one.
I know, but as it is next door i thought you would know, and you did
lol indeed. our very close neighbours, they are.
are you not famous for wooden shoes, Sprite
wish i could, joso. paternal grandfather was flemish, but spoke french
I would expect so, being right next door and about the same size, and the 100 years war long over
we are, pug. Though it has been ages since they were regular footwear here. But the fame still exists and for the tourists they are still made. I own a pair for canoeing, actually.
do you speak french then Rose?
sometimes we call belgium our very broad border with france, though, joso ;)
i read, joso, alas spoken is school-girl only. although when grandfather was alive, i was quite fluent.
french for kissing is in the grid too. Not valid though.
wooden shoes, tulips and windmills are apart of the dutch culture here
rather that is what we were taught in school
I live very near the 'Zaanse schans', pug, a place with lots of windmills, a wooden shoe maker, the very first shop of Albert Heijn and many more tourist shops.
I bet the belgians don't like that, prairot was alway so insulted when confused for french
and yes, we do have many tulips. So it is true. But a bit outdated, of course.
um, joso, do you mean poirot???
no, they don't like that, joso, you are right. The battle of the languages is very active still in belgium.
good for you Rose, I so admire people with language skills, un yes, see what I mean, can barely manage english
you make perfect sense to me, joso
In my mind that is how I picture your world Sprite and for Rose, the man from snowy river, kangeroos and blistering hot---Joso, cold, moose, lots of wildlife and mounties
I mean un yes, i meant poirot
hehehe don't worry, pug, you can picture it that way still. I could even take you places where it would be like that.
np's beautiful people. nearly 9pm here. time for meds.. xoxox until we meet again.
sleep well, rose, and dream even better *hugs*
bye rose, have a good day
night Rose--hugs, rest well
or rest, whatever
I got lots to do today
pug, did you manage to find an e-reader yet?
whats on the docket for you today pugs?
I have found what I want but havent gotten it yet
everytime I go to get it something else comes up
ok, let me know as soon as you do... I have found another lovely series for you to read. P. Briggs, the Mercy Thomson and the Alpha and Omega books.
oh,okay
I still got a lot yet on the series Im on now
yeah I know. Did you get more of the books already?
Iam reading about Z and A now(I think I like it the best so far)
aw isn't he a darling? Deep underneath? :) Poor man. Do you hate Valerius already?
well I havent read too much about him as of yet
ah ok. You will start to hate him in this book, then learn to love him in the next :) Kenyon is smart that way.
I feel so sorry for Z and I dont like that Godess thats keeps after ash
like I said before I cant wait to get to the book about him
ah, the heifer goddess, lol. No, she is a nasty nasty piece of work, that goddess. Simi wants to eat her.
and I wish she would--lol
so do we all :D
ok gang, i'm off, see you all later
I need to get the very first book
bye Joso
bye joso, have a lovely day *hugs*
I see now what you meant that each book leads you into the next
fantasy lover. Yes, that is fun too. Julian and ... err....
grace is her name
Have you ever read Ride the Wind? Its based on a true story
yes, exactly. And with each book you learn more about the pantheon and about Ash and Artemis and Appollymia etc.
and its a old story too
let me check
no, I never read it. Checked for the dutch translation name and never read that either.
that is a very good book
ok, will put it on my list :)
you have a list you keep on all you read
no, only a list of books recommended to me that I will read in time
when they write a book and translate into another lang does it change the story
how big of a list do you have
sometimes. Depends on how well they translate. The funny thing with translating is, if you do it too literally, it changes the book more than if you aren't afraid to adapt to the other language.
I think about 50 books now, still to read, pug
Hello. How is everyone today?
that Rose has mailed me those books and not sent a bill along with them
Hi Biltong--Iam fine
hi Biltong! Am good today, and how about you?
I know, pug. So there... learn to say 'thank you' without feeling bad about it ;) I know our rose and so do you... this is a gift from the heart. You can accept it as such, don't worry.
brb--coffee and br
Hi sprite and pug, I'm doing ok, thanks
good to he4, Biltong
Have things settled down for you sprite?
better than yesterday for sure, Biltong. Still lots of stuff happening, but I am calmer and more centered again. Thanks for asking :)
good morning everyone:)
Glad to he4 that, sprite. I've been a bit busy over the last couple of weeks, so haven't had much time to babble.
Hi crossy
busy with good stuff, Biltong?
hiya crossy! *hugs* How are you and Mrs Elegant?
howdy, biltong, sprite.the mrs and i are doing fine
and how about you and yours, sprite?
glad to he4 it, crossy. Have missed seeing you here. But I always think of you when I start up my e-reader... which is very often :)
back--Hi crossy, hows school going
we are doing ok, crossy. Looks like the youth prevention program works for us... Tim is really trying to do better and things are more peaceful at home.
Mostly good, yes :)
howdy, puglet, school is going very well
the new therapy I am doing for the eating disorder is brutal. But am managing, if only barely, lol.
yaa for sprite and tim!
ah, that is all we can ask for, isn't it Biltong! Good. Glad to see you as well.
how are things with you biltong
are you enjoying the study, crossy?
mmm,one of our black cats just sauntered into the livingroom carrying its plastic food bowl...think he is hinting at something
Good thanks puglet :) How are you?
i am indeed,sprite:)
that is wonderful, crossy! I know the feeling of a brain that stretches and remembers old muscles, grin.
you think? Jeezzz. That is cattish for 'Human, you are late with my food. Stop what you are doing this instant and get cracking.'
yes, muscles are the only problem. i have 3 herniated disks in my neck from years ago that are now giving me grief:(
oh darn :( Can you find a way to sit and write that is gentle for your neck?
i have this device that mounts on a door with a chin strap, a pully and a counter weight system and i am supposed to use it twice a day to relieve stress on the disks and nerves
barring this type of phisyotherapy the doc says all is left is surgery:(
am thinking... you'd want to sit as straight as possible... can you use a... jeezzz how to describe it... let me think
i am getting a fresh Ct scan of the area on tuesday and we will see what has developed in there over the last few years
cat is destroying the kitchen brb
Upset cat! It wants fed NOW
Could I have a clue for the re7, please? Have got the 'hermit'
to stick together
ty, puglet. All this time I've been concentrating on the re in the bottom r/h corner, lol
I hope things will be ok, crossy. I can't find a picture of what I mean. Bear with me, will try it in words.
i am back.cat is fed
ok, good boss, crossy :)
the cats have me well trained:)
what I mean is a plank that you can set at an angle, crossy, with a clamp on the top rim that will hold your book or paper. It enables you to sit up straight and work in front of you, in stead of having you bend over and work at desk level.
ahh,i understand, sprite. however all the class work these days is done on computer and sadly i am the type that must look directly at the keyboard to use it effectivly
i could raise the monitor up,but the keyboard itself would still be down low
oh dear. Guess I just made very clear I am old school, lol. I don't know a good solution for the keyboard, alas. Putting it in an angle ok to see would make you twist your wrists too much.
and you are right in that the ergonomics of the classroom itself are terrible
you might want to invest in a typing course, then, crossy. Learning to type blind wouldn't cost you too much time and you would benefit the rest of your study and life.
but enough about my woes.i must endure and do my neck exercises and hope for the best.lets see how this grid is looking
the grid is fun today. Lots of surprise finds.
re 7/36 -clue please
a hermit, gran, and hi
Fun indeed, sprite. Now I have to leave this grid and get some ironing done :( Take care all
bye Bil
good luck with that, Biltong, lol. *hugs* and enjoy your day.
Hi Gran
what is your day going to be Sprite
*hugs* to you too sprite and keep up the good work! Bye puglet
mmm,i can almost mount my neck stretcher device to my desk..
not sure yet, pug. Babble first, then some laundry I think. I have a huge backlog for folding. And if I have enough courage, opening some bills...
Crossy is the problem with your neck the same as what Peyton Manning had
wow crossy. Work and stretch at the same time :)
do what i do with bills, sprite. put them all in a hat, and once a month close your eyes, reach in a choose one
do not know peyton manning
that last part is not one of my favorite things-lol Sprite
that is about the stage I am in now, crossy. Only... haven't opened them in 3 months. Scared as hell.
Hes a QB for broncos
my problem is three disks are herniated and they are rubbing/pinching on nerves
sounds very painful, crossy. I have one and it can be hell already. Can't imagine 3.
oddly enough i got it while doing my exercises 10 years ago
:(
and I know sitting at a desk cant help that at all
crossy had a 6 pack abs stomach then.i was using the nordic track ab-works machine ,doing my reps..98...99....CRUNCH! then i felt a stabbing pain and lost all feeling in my arms
oh god, dear crossy. That is awful.
now instead of a six pack stomach, crossy has a keg! lol
see, there was room for improvement there ;)
well I got a barrel(55 gal. drum)
sigh..i was 162 pounds and all lean muscle...
lol,puglet
side note: I was trying to get lugies to work and then I found words that mean the same, lol.
I have a brewery. But let's not brag.
lol. Sprite lol you know thats not true
sweetie, check the picture I sent you... I fill the whole chair! :)
well Crossy instead of a mer keg you call call yourself a beefy bu4
lol, check my pic on my site if you have not seen it already, sprite
you will see mr and mrs crossy:)
Sprite. that chair was a tiny chair and it just made the picture worse--You are lovely
poor lass cannot even put her little arms around me
do you mind me looking Crossy
I see two adorable children and a beautiful couple, crossy. That couple with the girl, is that you and the mrs?
not at all, puglet. just go to crosshair.smugmug.com then select browse then click on picture of bats and scroll through the pictures.the last 3 slides are video clips and you play them by clicking on them
thanks pug :) You are too kind.
not that pic,sprite
boat*
not bats
oh. my. god. You are lovely, crossy! And so is your Elegant. Awesome picture. You are just as I had pictured you!
:)) crossy the big ole teddy bear
if that is you in the blue t-shirt-I see no fat at all
yes, makes me long for a re4 hug from you. And your wife is so beautiful! Such a gentle face.
no not blue shirt.i am on the edge of a dock with my mrs beside me
she is my beloved
I was thinking the same, pug, lol, but it is not the flickr site, you need to go to the one crossy linked below.
not flickr
she is truly beautiful

hi hi, ruby ruby
and scroll
back, usual poopy lunch but nice people and lovely dogs in the restaurant
((ruby))
makes up for my constantly ickering DH who keeps trying to re-write history
bickering (divkering?)
sounds like the eateries in your area leave much to be desired, ruby
If I would cook more, we would eat better, but I don't feel like it
*hugs ruby*
welll, get his scrawny butt in there cooking once in a while as well!
wb Ruby
he can be such a jerk. I know I should always be nice as he is certainly doddering, but it's difficult when he totally chnges the things he has told me in the past
I feel for you both, ruby. It is a tough situation.
"oh,i did not know.is he failing mentally? that can be very tough on both of you
yes it is very hard to deal with mental illness. It takes alot of strength
from what ruby tells, it seems he is living in the past more and more and loses his grasp of the now. And he is often scared and confused, and he treats ruby nasty.
nastily*
mmm, victorisa grandfather had same sort of thing
he is justy old (88) and whether it's Alzheimer's or h=just d age, doesn't really matter, but he is locked into the past and can't remember anything recent Also has no interest
that is the beginning of dementia
indeed
there are medications to ease this and slow it down
not even the beginning, I think it's well under way
HI Ren
hi ren, yes it is. Not really strange at his age, but very hard to live with.
lol
or at least get him to smoke a joint after breakfast lol
level him off for the afternoon;)
that's a good idea; I even have some, but he's never done any drugs in his life!
88 - then it is probably Alzheimera - mi madre had it as did my fil - and i know exactly what you are going theough
Good evening all.
oh crossy, that is a brilliant idea, lolll. Mellow him out. He could use a water pipe, ruby... what are they called again?
make him some has brownies then
hookahs
hash
hi lyn :) xxx How are you? Missed seeing you. *hugs*
Hi Ren - lovely to see you. Haw are you going
but he wouldn't, pretends to be a Puritan
or ask dr for marinol rx
{{lynx}}
tell him they are vitamins
that is it. Hookas. Or even better: a steam thing. Aerolyser. No. Jeezz what's with me and words today... Vaporiser.
Hi Lyn
hey all - doing good - dealing w/ next surgery for mez
fell off my chair laughing. TY for that, crossy
hi Sprite - how is your 'new life' going
sprite.do not worry about words.i am in awe of those who can handle more than one language fluently
that is for the knee, right ren? How is it going? Soon to be or already done and aftermath?
the 5th knee? fingers crossed it works better Ren
whoo, a multi-jab! like a spider....
jamb*
5th knee - yes lynxxx
ouch@ knee surgery
lyn: okayish. Ups and downs, of course. The therapy is brutal and I have trouble managing the ptsd. But Tim is doing better and the family therapy is well underway towards the 'systemic' sessions (with all 4 of us). So I must not complain ;)
when our son was younger, sprite, we went to family therapy sessions for 2 years.it was a godsend
need to get started on the days chores---warm hugs to all and have a warm and happy day/night--byes to all
tc,pugs
{{big hugs, pugs}}
that sounds as though everything is moving forward Sprite though - just remember to take time out for hugs from your beloved
bye pugs
later pugs
yes, being strong with your mate while going through kid issues is a must,my son was almost in jail several times tween his 12-and 17th year
we arranged a "tough love" session with our local police dept and had him "arrested" and jailed for a night to see the real deal
bye pug, *hugs* for you and have a good day
didn't know that, crossy, how wonderful you managed to work through that. My love and I are close and in harmony. At the session yesterday the therapist commented on that, even. They rarely see it nowadays.
he had no idea.he thought that night stemmed from a window he broke a week before
{{{el grande hugs to you sprite}}} - i've been away so very long i've not been aware of anyone's probs - this is a caring group, i must say <3
it is what gets you through, sprite
that is wonderful, sprite,, you have done well in that regard.
how old is your son,sprite?
and he also said that we should be proud of our parenting job so far. We looked at him very sceptical and said not, of course, since we needed to be there and obviously made a mess of things. But he said it is going better so quickly, and that shows that we did a really good job. I find comfort in that.
and did the night in the cells have the right impact Cross?
it is, ren, and you are part of it :) Am holding you and yours in my prayers too.
crossy: he is 17 (going on 65)
it did.i told them(the cops) to let it all out and give him the full treatment
renfield: used to sail to the Bhamas a lot and loved it there, escept for the seasonal mosquitoes
yes,17.perfect time to get it all ironed out
wow crossy, that is severe. But sounds like it opened his eyes.
we lives in Miami and it was a short hop by seaplane to eet my husband and his sailboat when he and his buddy went off for weeks at a time
yes...the mosquitoes lyn - always at dusk
and you will open your sons as well
lived* meet* terrible typing
I truly hope so, crossy. Am more confident now than before... we seem to make progress already and we haven't even started the full family sessions. If all goes well, the first one will be Friday.
we are all babblers, ruby, don't worry... we can puzzle out what you mean ;)
ren, how are you holding up under it all?
yup.no spelling nazi's here
after my chemo, one of the first places I went was to the Bahamas and the rum punches used to make me pass out
your daughter is doing OK with it all Sprite?
lol crossy. I am, but only for myself and for books.
mmmmm, rum punch
sometimes, DH and his buddy would have to carry me out of restaurants
a wee weary sprite - anxious to get through this one - we see a shrink - and he helps us focus on the future and handle the current conditions
quite satisfactory
lyn, it is really hard on her as well. At least she and her brother have patched things up. And she will meet with our counsellor this week, and apart from this she will get personal coaching as well. Someone who is there for her alone, not one of the therapists we are seeing.
chemo was OK and, although hard, gave me the ability to push on. It's 23 years now
very wise, ren. Almost impossible to get through without some support. *sends a truckload of helping angels and a boatful of energy cans to renfield*
am so happy you are with us, ruby. It must have been a brutal time.
hi hursh :) *hugs* How are you today?
tired
I was fortunate in being able to continue working through the whole ugly ess and the other people in the office were very supportive I would only take off one day, each time I had chemo
hello Ms ZHurshy - got your morning coffee with you?
aaaaack no
*hugs hurshy*
wtg ruby!!!! 4 years here
{{hurshy}}
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po4HIDl\nb0NU
wow ruby, that is strong. And lucky too.
darn..let me tiny url that
I was very lucky, had the most common cancer (if you can say lucky and cancer in the same sentence)
yay for 4 years and 23 years of remission!
http://tinyurl.com/n4cbycp
yaa for ruby!.welcome to crossy's survivors club.here have a nice rum punch:)
come to the island...
and I just went out and picked raspberries (5!), cherry tomatoes (6) and purple plums (many) from my gARDEN. aND THERE ARE STILL A MILLION FLOWERS, EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEGUN SNOWING ON THE MOUNTAINS AT NIGHT
sorry for the shouting, but the garden (and dogs) make up for the rest
how delightful, ruby.
we have already had snow here in a few select locations
but you would have to carry ME, CROSSY
time for the NYT puzzle
you are easy to carry, ruby, don't worry. Enjoy the rum. Hm, thinking of that... there should be a way I can send you a bottle of old jenever for the winter. Will check out the package.
enjoy the puzzle and a nap, ruby
i will carry you ruby
you arte such a sweetie, sprite. Did I tell you that we had houseguest who arrived, by cr, with nada. I was a bit shocked. You came here absolutely laden with all your gwenerous gifts and foodstuffs
i could sling you over one shoulder and hubby over the other lol
oh my, I just found the 8 all by myself!
stats for the 8, pls
bu8/65
hubby weighs about 130 now. When we "started",he weighed about 185!
lol.my right thigh weighs 130
that sounds strange to me, ruby. Can't imagine coming to people's home to stay and not bringing some gifts. I hated that at first I couldn't find anything for your husband. Was so happy we figured out the map and the fish.
he is wasting away, ruby... such a very old and sad man. Must be hard to watch for you.
when i travel far,i always bring a bottle of our very own "collingwood" a nice single malt whiskey from our distillery right here in town
I must admit that I was rather shocked. Whenit's my son, I guess I make allowances because he is so busy and comes here on standby. But they came by car from within France. Very weird
wow crossy :)
yes,canadian mist does us proud
Without $$, one can always bring a jar of homemade jam or a cheese
I like bringing gifts. Especially if I can manage to find things people are really happy with.
maybe they aren't used to it
yup.which ever one of you makes it to crossy's place first, please bring a jar of home made gooseberry jam
to everybody: Sprite was the most generous houseguest we've ever had!
ruby, even if only a home-made card with kind words. Being attentive doesn't have to cost anything in money. Just in attention and care.
i'm never a houseguest except like, at my mom's or my sister's, pretty much, so i might be like, not mindful of the expectations
would red currants do or peaches in a pinch?
*plants gooseberry shrub so she can fulfill crossy's order in time*
mmm, peaches in a pinch as well
family is different, hurshy, but these were virtual strangers
nah, I am not buying that, hursh. If you would go somewhere else to stay for a while, you'd pack something you'd wanted to gift them with. Family or any place you visit a lot is different.
right but i'm just saying if it's something you never do, you might not know, it might not occur to you. like, i didn't grow up with alcohol. so when i had my wedding, it didn't even cross my mind to serve alcohol. i didn't even realize that to a lot of people that seems really weird.
amen, sprite
esp if you happen to be a socially awkward person to begin with
I he4 you, hursh. Some things might indeed not occur to one if one is not used to them.
if i go to someones and they are not a drinker i bring some soft apple cider from our very own presses
ooo I'd like that, crossy!
hello, dears - reading your lovely gift ideas - here's what my old dad used to say (in Sicilian, of course) - when you visit, your arms should be so full, you have to knock on the door with your feet
time to go, {{big group hug}} and if you arrive here, hursy, I'll make allowances lol
we are in a huge apple belt hgere
tc,ruby tuesday
hey ya jbv - good saying
well see now i've been told so i have no excuse
later ruby
lol JBV, I like that!
wise saying from a wise man, jbv
bye ruby, enjoy your nap, hun *hugs*
JBV, I know a joke about that, but I'd have to e-mail it as it's somewhat risqué lol
(we often heard after someone visited empty-handed - LOL)
and hursh, I met you and didn't find you awkward at all. You were nice and charming and fun.
well, time to hit the showers and wet down this mass of muscle.back in a few min ladies...poink!
{{hurshy}}, I don't think you're awkard
glad you thought so sprite. :) sometimes i am more awkward though.
enjoy, crossy!
i do better with people with whom i have things in common, of course.
JBV, if you send me an e-mail, I can tell you the joke. It's in Fr, but I can translate
well, I can be awkward too. Most people are, sometimes, I think. But meeting you was awesome. I still smile when I think of it.
ok, ruby will do - send me the french first - I'll take a stab at translating
i liked meeting you too :)
good morning all.
:)
I found a bu7 but not the bu8, help pls
hi peri :)
I know several questionable joke in Fras I had a Fr beau for a while
lol
peri, you still need the comparative and superlative of the 5.
that man's beer belly is the bu8 of all!
oh, if you are sending them, please send me as well, ruby! In french, please.
I will try, sprite, but my written Fr is very "high school"
lol, that will help me understand cause so is mine :)
ty hurshy, I had the wrong bu5 at first but now have the right one and the 8. ty sprite
yvw peri
there's another one? the only other one i have is plural male cows
sorry hurshy I have a bu6/7
the bu5 that is the root of the 8, hursh
i know but peri said she had the WRONG bu5 and i wondered how that could be
ah, right. Sorry.
hursh do you have bu 5/20
yes i do
oh, ok,
sorry, misread your last comment
oh no it doesn't take ph5r
no. I tried too.
me too
me star trek fan mad
exactly. Should have worked. if ra5/14 is valid, this one is much more common.
sorry, that may be confusing. A much more common word. ra5 is not a weapon.
well at least everything after the p is easy
I hope so :)
i mean not alphabetically but, i greyed the rest of that row and the bottom
help with the U pls
if you worry too much you might get an ul5
ah ok. Am doing the Ss and the Ts now. 12 left.
peri, very nasty thing in the stomach.
i have 27 to go
duh, ty hurshy and sprite, should have seen that one
nice going, hursh
130 left here but just started a little while ago
and eating oatmeal as I babble
hehehe nice start of the day, peri. I am taking my time today... slowly babbling and chatting, with permission of my love... he knows how much energy it takes to get through the start of a new therapy. I have nothing left atm.
I must be babble blind cause I cannot see any words from the corner A
if something is getting less it is ab5 ing
ab words Peri
i 'et some peanut butter and nutella - um um good - not healthy...just good
they are all ab words. Getting less.
like um, we hope the flooding ab6 soon
tyty for the ab words.
hi there ren
ren, healthy enough in moderation! Both peanuts, oil and nuts hold good stuff, like good fats and vitamins.
hey ya peri!! happy saturday!
happy Saturday to you too, ren!
ok, I need to do some errands before it decides to rain again. bbl to finish
wait all of them are those ab? i gots 4
and the 5th from that tile, peri, is the 3rd person singular with another last vowel.
bye peri, have a good one
yup on the pb sprite - one of my fav - just cut it w/ nutella for the choco goombay day feeling
I don't like the taste of pb with anything sweet. But I wouldn't mind them on separate slices of bread :D
aha
phantom: resist
good one
I am miffed seabu4 isn't valid. I mean, seacow, right? seacalf? Works for me.
and bugle
seacow doesn't work either though
tried that too
i think that's just a thing people casually call manatees - is it manatees?
we have manatees everywhere
yes they are the same hursh
ah, indeed. Quite different from the dutch then. Will try and remember.
ok so yeah, people call manatees sea cows but i think it is two words
there, 90%. now i can list.
ah ok! That makes sense. That is a very tough thing to learn for a foreigner, which words are separate and which must be together.
yay hursh
I mean, a while and awhile... I still haven't figured it out
neither have most americans.
lol!
there was an article on slate the other day titled "can 'infer' mean 'imply'?"
and i was just like, no. no it can't.
I would say no too... there is a difference
one is a thing you do in your head whilst making your own judgments, and one is a thing you do whilst trying to communicate to others, so clearly totally different
so other than the fact that they are two five letter words that begin with i...
half the things that happen in english are just the result of people doing it wrong and then that becomes the new right. ugh.
good morning stats for the i please?
yes. The infer thing is what you do with the facts you have available, I believe. And the imply thing is hinting at something without naming it.
ig4 and 5
IS 4/4
hursh, that is universal. I see things now in official dictionaries that were simply wrong when I was at school.
and is4.6
ty wv
u?
ok i gotta go pick up my meds that i forgot to pick up yesterday before i finish
laters all
ok hursh, have a lovely day *hugs* I hope you can rest a bit in a cozy corner with a good book.
bye Hursh
can someone clue the ul please?
sorry don't have it - but will look
Fan, ul 5/14 ---stomach ailment
ty wv
good morning everyone
Can also get them in the mouth too.
oh duh ty annie and good morning to you
hi Annie
wv did you get that?
morning to Zooz too
thnx annie
hi annie and zooz *hugs*
hi lynxxx, teach, zooz
hi teach and mlfan
hi sprite :)
Hello, everyone...hope you are all well :-)
going to get some breakfast going, be back soon
hoping the same for you, zooz. I am good, thanks :)
this long weekend was made for good books in cozy corners.dreary and chilly and rainy today
but sun is due out later.may hike a trail in the bush later
does the bu 8 exent from another bu word?
we are having perfect weather down here
extend ooops
your summer is comming on is it not ,lynxx?
here we have snow, snow and more snow breathing down our necks
The funeral was on thursady, Sprite..it went really well...lots of people excellent service..apart from the car breaking down and hitching lifts to the service & back to the island..it all went well..lol
yes mlfan, first bu5. Superlative.
fall colurs will be done by all hallows eve then all bets are off
oh dear, zooz, how inconvenient! But glad the service itself went well.
yes - complete with what seems to be a bad fire season. Fires already in NSW but down here - a perfect Spring
i am sorry,zooz. who passed?
my first bu 5 is a plural
my favorite palette of colours, crossy.
indeed, sprite. our sugar maples are in full display and amazing
fires are a real big issue there, right lyn? I think it is every year? Such dryness allover. Glad you are in a safer spot.
if I had my way, I'd always dress in those colours, crossy. Combined with black.
Getting colder here too, Crossy..Yuk..i still have not turned my heating on yet..it is 15 in the house..so sat here with a duvet around mw..the energy prices have just gone up another 8.2 per cent..so will hold off putting heating for a while.
muffin tops - fat bu***s out of a short top
we count our blessings as we are far from dry as my pictures show.nature is kind to us overall
My fathers sister, Crossy..died of cancer..only 52 years old.
we are lucky here as well. Worst that can happen here is flooding, and that is relatively rare.
Damn..PB for me...sorry, all.
Fires are usually an issue - depends a lot on the amount of fuel - or undergrowth - and of course we get the usual number of morons that get their kicks from lighting fires.
way way tooo young, zooz. And you are excused for the PB. Unless you want to go there and partake of all the goodies I stocked.
62 sorry.
mm.yes it is tough.i survived 3 cancers and i am just creeping up on 50.thanks largely to loved ones and universal health care
lyn, sorry to say it, but those people should be caught in the fires they start. It is plain evil.
ooh sounds temting, Sprite..teehee.
remember, crossy, that 3 is enough for any person. You are not allowed to have any more ;)
Very sorry to hea* that bad news Zooz - it is too young. I hope she did not suffer too much
zooz, with cl4 and he4 in the grid, I thought I'd better stock up!
Am very pleased to see you are still with us, Crossy..even if you have seemed to of stopped your tidbits :-(
lol yes, sprite.my beloved also order me to not get any more
hahahaha good point, Sprite.
good. Mrs Elegant has much more influence than I.
sometimes i have moments os where did the time go - thank you all for the thoughts and prayers for mez - it will be 7 years this coming dec 27th that the jeep ran over him - you babblers are the bestest - you have encouraged me to stay strong - and now i am getting soppy - on w/ the game - if i used a word - send me to the pb w/ choco
i am sorry zooz.i put a tidbit out just yesterday and will fetch one for you now.i know i have missed a few however
*sends renfield a load of choclit anyway* A good community, our babble, huh ren... we support eachother through life's trials and good spots.
You can get as sopy as you like, Renfield..we all help each other he4..so feel free to be as soppy as you like :-)
and now it is time for crossy's tidbit of the day!!!!!
In 2010, a sex pheromone found in male mouse urine was named "darcin" for Jane Austen’s Mr. Darcy.
let's have it, crossy
lol! I like that. A real random fact for trivia.
hahaha..well who would of thought...amazing!
hursh should see this - she is a jane austen reader
you will never read about mr darcy in the same way again;)
Thank you, Lynxxx..she was comfortable near the end..thank goodness.
I still need to read her. Where should I start? Pride and prejudice?
Very true, Crossy hahaha
oh I am glad, zooz. So terrible if they have to suffer.
Hurshy is a star trek fan also i believe.
yes she is, zooz. good people, our hursh.
when i read about mr darcy - i see sir laurence olivierl
POUNCE
Glub is a word, glub glub glub.
hi lady! *hugs*
hi Infernal
i would ask hursh sprite - she revived my interest in jane austen several years ago
hi Kap
glub = fish speak. Enable is stupid. Hi Kaplan.
here you go ,zooz.since i have been slacking off, i shall give you a bonus tidbit of the day!!!
HUGS
If you've been searching for another name for the nape of your neck, try "niddick."
Yes i know, Sprite...apparently near the end she looked at her husband and said she was scared of what might be..i just could not take listening to that..so hard..but at least there is no more suffering or waiting for the next chapter.
will do, ren, thanks :)
Hi. I am missing a lot of babble life but trying to do my external life better.
Renny missed seeing you here. (even though I am rather awol these days)
howdy,kaplan
no, indeed zooz. And I am positive that what awaited her wasn't bad.
Hi all.
more important, real life, Kaplan.
Hello, Kap :-)
Imy email account was hacked and I was locked out of fb for a few days- I didn't mind much.
My niddick is rather achey today!
fell comforted in the fact that death is harder on those left behind than those who are failing.i have faced death many times and it no longer holds any fear for me because what is death? it is just the next stage of life.
what is a niddick? Do I dare ask?
Geez, Kap was your babble account hacked some time ago too? if i remember correctly.
another term for nape of the neck, sprite
am right with you, crossy. Not afraid of death. I wish I wasn't afraid of life though :)
ah, thanks crossy. All the things I learn from babble!
I don't know- perhaps I should not have used the same two pwds for everything, huh?
I like that, Crossy, Very nice.
Ahh..now there is a lesson for everyone to learn, Kap.
I have one for things that have to stay secret. And one for things I don't mind if they get hacked.
i use same two words for everything, kaplan.i just add two different numbers on the end of it
yep, with variations, me too, crossy
Passwords are better if you mix them up with numbers in them
yes, numbers and things like *&^%^%#@
and capitals too
or if you want some real fun, take a password you like, run it through a translater, yiddish perhaps then paste it
lol crossy
I have numbers, captial letters, lower case,..and loooong.
Grab a book flick to a page look down a few rows pick a word
that is pretty safe then, zooz
i always wanted to see if i could paste a password translated into heiroglyphics
or ancient greek
haha i did that, Herin and it is a word that is in the grid.
latin! thats it! brb.want to try this!
Well I am going. I have things to do and bed to sleep in
Have a good sleep, Herin...nice to see you :-)
enjoy, lady. Nice to see you, however short.
Salve amicis meis
hehe love it
rossy velit eget Latine loqui!
nice, crossy! And then put numbers between the words and add some &$^# things and it is pretty much unbreakable.
Morning, all. Glad to see a bigger puzzle today.
hi Bea, indeed.
Hello, Bea :-)
howdy, bzz
Had to type that twice..the first time was in the add word box..lol
phantom password: m4B?v~&!,uRI^zA
I'm getting pretty tired of this recliner and watching tv.
there ya go
lol o-o. Glad to see you.
hahaha i like it, o-o
I bet, Bea. Any improvement?
Some. Still have no energy.
how very frustrating, Bea :(
Sprite, ypou can't go wrong on Pride and Prej. THEN see the movie with Colin Firth.
halfway, NBT and NBS - time for a breakfast break
hi RoundBarn, thank you, will do that then :)
stab
stabs
enjoy, teach
It took me forever to get through P&P.
howdy, roundbarn:)) nice to see you.been a bit
yes,NEVER watch the movie first
I wouldn't. Am a book lover, and only movie lover second.
the only exception i can think of is forrest gump..the book is terrible
or witches of eastwick, crossy
have never read/seen that one
very funny movie, lousy book.
but that is my opinion, of course.
stats for the U, please?
I have ; me5,me4,me4,me5 what am i missing please?
ul5/14
UL 5/14
crossy, I lurk. Have cut Vol 3 into 3 and 4 and am working too hard. But made fireworks on a shorty a couple days ago. I read you guys all the time--more interesting than the grid.
the me's go 4-5-4-4-5
it is nice to have you with us in chat now, RoundBarn
DOH! TY zooz.
So it must be the first one i am missing..thanks, sprite.
fireflies. Finally, grin... I took my time about it. Enjoyed chat immensely. Thanks all. Have a peaceful evening and a lovely day, all.
yw Bea :-)
Congrats, Sprite!
congrats sprite
You too, (((Sprite))) have a good day
Death is less bitter punishment than death's delay. ~Ovid
I also write a poem a week for Illinois Times, you can find it on line. Since I'm not a poet, that makes it easy. Next week will be a quote from my father in the 50's--a letter--"the university is down today harvesting their dorn yield trial plots and yestterday we made 65 cows happy by telling them the extent of their pregnancy"
a coward dies many deaths but a hero only dies once..actually it is not death that bothers me,it is laying in the ground so long that is a pain
indeed, roundbarn. wife says i should be a case study
i believe in reincarnation anyways that is why i love this commercial.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3tywFm\n95Sg
wait.ill tiny nurl it
http://tinyurl.com/ouauenl
there we go
I wonder if anyone has survived the experience of being biodegraded.
perhaps, but they cannot tells up when they have been reformulated into mulch
Is reincarnation what happens at weddings?
it is like being reincarnated as a snail.it may happen but no one will believe you when you slither into their homw to tell them
i always say people are trying to fill me full of biodegradable bu 4/7 jive
hmmmm isn;t that incarceration o-o?????
no,o-o that is a transmorgification lol
there are many weddings
silken bonds with high tensile steel cores hehe
i once transmogrified jell-o
hahaha i like the advert, Crossy :-)
it is neat,zooz
mez and i were married under a hoopa , if we were married in hawaii, it would have been a hula hoopa
Good day to all. Renny, good to see you. How are you?
teehee.too funny, Renfield :-)
howdy,scrabby!
Hello, Scrabs
prisons already are the highest budget items in most states .... they also have taken on the task of having to treat those with mental disorders since the closing of the institutions .... perhaps those who believe marriage to be a form of mental disturbance may find a home in prison
hey ya scrabs! doing good :) like any pirate should
evening all
I suppose they might be called bachelors or misanthropes
Hello girlie.
Hello, Girlie :-)
o-o, i have a freind who works in the mental facility of a prisoin, they had a new doctor come in and change all the meds for the patients - on a full moon - and the mental ward went beserko....rought nite for the crew
hi hi :)
BBL
You have had to endure so much, ren. I seek oblivion of the highest order ... you persevere
we have the opposite.there are so few mental facillity beds that they end up set loose on the street too son and fill up the prisons
watching a program on pregnant women in prison here .. seems like a theme
i watched one of those.prisoner was 4 months along and 21 and in for 40 years.no family that wants to deal with her,so she gave birth, then back in jail for the rest of her time.the baby will be over 35 when she gets out
child became ward of the state
What is so problematical for me is despite the inordinate incarceration in the US, the lawbreaking narcissists and psychopaths who purport to represent us do so with impunity
It is very hard watching.
well said, o-o and quite sad
do as i say,not as i do eh?
Yet, these clowns are trying to kill the ACA and they get free health care for life
hint for first re7/36
nm got it
clue please, Matches
it stuns the rest of us to see a few malcontents within your government bring the entire thing grininding to a halt because of obama starting you on the road to universal health care for all.it was a baby step but they could not even tolertae that
It is embarrassing.
re7...someone who lives sheltered away from the rest of the world
It's fairly frightening actually
obama care is much like our old OHIP system we had just before true universal health care began
thanks, Molly, didnt see the re on the bottom of the grid
it is far from perfect, but no one sits there waiting for a small medical condition to become a 20,000 dollar crisis either
I just lost my secondary health coverage and now I have to spend over $250 for coverage
a month
near the end of OHIP i was paying just over 200 for a family of 3
now we all just pay at tax time and every single person is covered.easier that way
ok we pay about $280 a month for 2 of is in AU, but if anything catastrophic happened it would be covered by public health insurance
crossy, can you go to the doctor of your choice?
60% of Americans want to throw all of the bums in Congress – including their own representatives – out in the next election.
yes i can annie
thanks
but i do not bounce around too much with our GP but i will range far and wide till i get the speciallist i want
but what do you do with all the rage you feel about the fact that poor people aren't getting what's coming to them? i mean, how do you vent all that anger at seeing them get health care they don't deserve?
why do they not deserve it?
they don't work hard enough
we all will need health care at some point in our lives.do we just let the poor lay down and die? no we do not
but it's the american way
How do you change the situation? Let them pay for their health like everyone el4.
would you have the poor just die off and decrease the surface population, hurshy?
well,it is not our way
you you are too rarified to help those in need, you may as well jump off a bridge now
crossy, hurshy doesn't think all these things. hurshy is playing a role to show how some americans really do think, and what has gotten in the way of us having what you have.
ahh ok
gotcha
ahh yes "i can afford my own health care.why should i pay for him with my taxes" sort of thing
yeah i was doin' my colbert thing
I just got interrogated by the chair of the VA disruptive behavior committee ... for disagreeing with comments made in a waiting room. My sin was to speak up at all since the previous commenters were in agreement
well,it is that type of thinking that has the entire us government shut down this very moment
indeed, it is.
i definitely am encouraging my husband to look at canadian jobs come job search time next year.
now other copmassionate care programs are suffering there also it is a terrible spiral
Name that talk show host Philbin!

Morning All

sc did you find the ph6 and 7 right off?
Buon giorno, Hego.
I told my congressional delegation their ought to be some way to claim their salaries as charitable contributions.
Hiya Scrabs!
there
as a MD ,scrabbs is it not better to treat a condition promptly that the person waiting 6 month untill it is in crisis mode? does it not cost the system less for timely medical treatments?
i have us friends waiting on a medical issue till it becomes serious enough for the clinics in their states.that should not be
And prevention is even better--smoking cessation, healthy nutrition, exercise/fitness, substance abuse prevention.
Most common adult medical problems are related to lifestyle problems. Lung and heart disease, diabetes, alcoholism, substance abuse....
How do you prevent congress from starting wars? How do we reduce or eliminate domestic violence?
he is in PA and he is slowly going deaf and the room spins with vetigo when he gets up too fast.they will not look at him without coverage or unless he is totally deaf.how stupid
Heck, we see bad lifestyles affecting kids now. Childhood obesity is epidemic and we see type II diabetes in kids now. Childhood obesity, childhood behavior issues ("ADHD") = family problems.
so,he sits to wait and go deaf and meet the criteria
you mean he cannot pay anything at all>
Oh, no, Cross. He needs an MRI of his brain. He might have an acoustic neuroma!
Medicaid will pay for him
The war on women is escalating ...
when my aunt was cirtially ill, the family negotiated with the doctors a payment plan they could afford.
i told him to pay 40 dollars, get out of country blue cross and come here for a two week visit
Yes, o-o
then again, they did not go out and buy nintendo, 5 50 inch tv s ipads and say they had no $
and crossy, did he do so?
while we're talking medical care, is it legal for US citizens to get their meds from Canada?
i do not know all his financial details TO but just he is not getting timely treatment
do not know luv
i think so, luv, more danger than legal. bur we actually found costco to be as cheap or even cheaper on common meds. really
I'll have to check that TO, although I don't know if it would be considered a common med that my son takes
because if that is legal and he does not take you up on it, there would seem to be other factors at work.
no amount of insurance will change attitudes about health.
the orphan drugs are where we see a lot of US and canadian patients try to fill the rx on the other side of the border.it is shocking what they are worth
no harm to try, luv. i did the research for my dad and it was true
Bottom row is grey. Woot, woot.
The largest daily in my state will not publish my letters to the editor regarding gun measures because I stated my congressional delegation prized guns over life .... there are approximately 86 homicides a day in the US
well.keep handing out those hand guns like candy and it will continue
Hint for the U, please?
oh, rats, thanks for the remionder, they are giving them out today and if i late they will run out. later.
my brother now live in AZ and says getting a gun and a concealed permit is avbout as hard as supersizing yer fires
stomach sore
scrabbs, bad stomach ailment
NV sorry
ul 5/14 - stomach condition
TY. I didn't go in that direction.
In the not to distant future, gun-related deaths will accede traffic deaths ... including those where alcohol is a factor
too
i believe it
now a couple no longer needs to just have a fight.now when the anger boils over they can just slap leather and unload a few rounds at each other
Time for a break. 135/82
saw one on some american news programme where 2 guys had a fender bender,go out of their cars, yelled at each other then killed each other in a gun fight .all in less than 45 seconds
come back soon scwabby.i will try to be talking about breakfast by then
I do not care about labels ... as long as loyalty of representatives to power and their party is greater than the best interests of the their constituents ... they do not belong in office
I know ... I am very naive
or a lovely hike in the woods i plan for today or tomorrow
only power you have o-o is your vote.next election there should be 100% usa voter turnout to clean house
us and canada should have mandatory voting like our friends down u8nder
voting is always an attempt to determine the lesser of two evils ... when both candidates are evil .. a write-in for the welcome mat is plausible.
if you hate everyone on the ballot, just spoil the vote.that way you say to all that you were there but all the prospects were terrible
or have a space that says none of the above.and if none of the above wins, get rid of all the candidates and start with a fresh batch
anyways.time to putter in the kitchen and read a bit of a good book.tc my friends
see you later, 13 left
hi all
hi jmc, still here?
yes i was just reading the chog

I am feeling like i might make some progress in the next few weeks...just got a large donation
hi welki and jmc
ty flosey
but this week i am focusing on the party i am giving for my late hubby. . . 20 years since his death. . . .
hw jmc and wish you success in your endeavour
raise one for me, jmc - you spoke about him when we met, he was a fine man
:-)
nbt
oh, what a lovely idea, to take a time to remember loved ones like that
i got a call from some friends yesterday that i hadn't invited saying they wanted to come. . .i had put on the invitation that i was sure i had forgotten someone so to pass it on. . . i was so happy they called. ..
the hard part was going through the notes and sign in book from the memorial . . .hooking up with old friends and the party will be the fun part
bonus!
last weekend we attended such a memorial - it was an occasion of remembering fun times, funny times - various friends related some great times we all had
i like memorials which have both good memories and jokes and grief and sadness. . . they need both elements to me. . .
but this is going to be mainly the good memories and jokes. . . the grieving is mostly done
not many of his 'old' friends, he came here, as we did, after retirement. He did teach art and horsemanship here so they were new friends
oh. . .
but hubby taught with him and had some funny tales to tell
oh well i am off. . .things to do. . . bbl maybe
good to see you both
bfn jmc and have a great party
have a good one, jmc!

Hi ruby!
hi hego
*was trying to keep it PG until ruby showed up :D
it has gotten very cold here, snow on the tops of the cliffs this AM
good one Ruby..great timing :)
I'll bet it's beautiful, though.
we've had to have fires all week, seems too early, especially after no spring and such a short summer
the Alps are my very favorite mountains.
We don't get bright colors like in the US, no sumac or maples on the hillside. We do have sheep, however, brought down each fall to crop the field across our road,
It is very beautiful here, even in the poopy rain
How are you today, Ruby?
you must be a dyed in the wool fan of sheep time ruby
there he goes again
I'm OK, thanks, but feeling sorry for my husband who is starting to lose hiss middle-term as well as his short[term memory
I'm his external memory stick
baaaa
that can't be easy for you either, tho.
don't they have drugs to help that ruby?
Aren't we all?
there are some medications.
I don't know and, since he doesn't want to see his MD, there's nothing to be done. He's 88, after all
wow.. then a little memory loss is sort of normal isn't it?
Oh, my. i had no idea.
I think so, they used to call it "old age" lol
Not surprising then.
right Ruby
I hate it when I walk into a room and try to remember why i went in there to begin with :D
I don't think it's Alzheimer's, but don't see that giving it a name would make any difference
senile dementia
what sczres me is when I do what ruru just said. If we both lose it, the house will burn down! lol, ruefully
Ruru, i've been doing that for years.
me too
then i have to return to the place I was to remember.
I'm 70 and still remember almost everything which is both good (great memories) and bad (old hurts)
I remember old stuff perfectly.
can someone clue the 8 please?
I feel very fortunate in most ways
bu 8
the biggest guy ;D
it's a plural I believe.
fattest popcket, bu8
or even pocket*
no, a superlative
popcket is when that gun goes off
umm?
*helps ruby dig a deeper hole*
Oh,Ruby!
builds from the bu5/20
too deep and I'll be lost
Fan, do you have bu 5
got it ty
i didnt have that bu5 but figured it out

Hiya, neighbors!
hey jude
sorry had to fix the toilet
You have my sympathies, ruru. I see your toilet and raise you steam cleaning the carpets!
holy crap.. you outdid me judi once again
I'm moving furniture and vacuuming. Hubby's following up with the super steamer sucker thingy. Our backs will hate us tomorrow.
hey babblers :) long time no see, for most of you
hello rows
how's it going?
Hiya, Rows!
Same old, same old. Howzabout you?
doing all right
having a lazy Saturday even though i have work to do
*hands Rows a Swiffer * Get to work!
lol i wish we had swiffers here...
no, mostly i have work work to do, not housework
No Swiffers! Good God! What 3rd world mud hut do you live in?
well, i live in Honduras
so yes, i live in a 3rd world country
though i have a pretty nice house, made of concrete, not mud
Wow! How did I know that?
haha
i have a blank flag?
anyway, yeah, no swiffers here... just old fashioned mops. makes cleaning our floors LOTS of fun
and by fun i mean work...
cems
Damn, every woman needs a man who will follow along with the super steamer sucker thingy.
haha
yeah, where's mine?
I don't do steamer sucker thingys
ru? you don't do steamer sucker thingies? I wouldn't touch that one with a ten foot pole....
Dorens, apparently ruru wouldn't either.....
dammmmmmmmmmmm.. i think this country is in danger of a civil war and it could start any minute
Civil war or revolutionary war?
because of the gov shutdown, food stamps and wic are no longer functional
lots of people are hungry as it is and this will just make it worse
yeah a lot of things aren't functional
did you guys see the blizzard that happened in South Dakota?
those people are just left on their own without any government help because the government isn't doing shit right now
makes me so angry
i am ready to pull down the shades-lock the doors- and assume the fetal position
The government, and that includes the "president" needs to come to some kind of agreement.
don't fucking have a job that people's lives would fall apart without you, if you aren't gonna fucking do your job
sorry, i don't normally swear that much, but this makes me so angry
Everyone needs to write their state reps and tell them if they want to KEEP their jobs, they'd better start DOING their jobs....I already have written.
kind of hard for me to do from Honduras, i'm afraid
but i will look into it
I also told them that instead of cutting benefits to the middle class and seniors, they need to make the wealthy segment finally pay back some of the money they made through government loopholes.
oh, hmm, looks like i can write an email
i'm not sure what to say, though...
Just say what you think, Rows. Feel free to use the two suggestions I just posted. I told mine also that I'll be surprised if ANY incumbents win their seats next elections.
Try using your rant from below Rows, sounded heartfelt to me
That is the sad thing. The people keep re-electing those who have done nothing to make our country better.
It is simply way past time to stop all the political posturing and really DO something for the American people. They are supposed to be public servants, after all.
I'm back. Had to steam clean the stairs. Arrrgh. Industrial strength pain killers and more coffee for an afternoon snack.
I'd love to see thousands of recall elections across the country....but that will never happen.
They serve the lobbies that line their pockets.
Anyway, Rows. No offense intended regarding my "mud hut" comment. I'm fully aware from reading my National Geographic that you probably live in a grass hut.
emailed my representative
haha i'm not sure if you're joking or not, Judi... the houses here are made of concrete, i thought i already said that...
i didn't take offense
but i'm just confused now
I've come back to government bashing! Well tally ho! Release the hounds. Throw the bums out and rage against the machine! They all suck like my steam cleaner.
Good for you, Rows.
thanks for suggesting it
I know, Rows. Just throwing out glib little comments. S'what I do.
okay
yeah, i basically said that a lot of bad things are happening now, and if they don't start doing their jobs, they're not going to keep them
i'm not going to vote for people who don't do the job they're hired for
Living in Arizona is really a challenge for me politically. It's like someone took a giant hook and grabbed Alabama of the 60s and dropped it in the west...yep...that bad.
eww
Some of these people lean so far to the right I think it might be possible for them to fall over in New Mexico!
Not California, though...they'd just be pushed back to Arizona REALLY HARD!
i don't know
i don't really know much of what's going on in California right now, even though it's my home state
i haven't lived there in over two years... been outside the US
There is definitely a wide polarity in the gov these days. Far left vs. far right. It's like two magnets repelling each other.
but i do know at least the city i came from is pretty sane
And repelling US altogether!
all this shit just makes me not really care to return to the US, anyway
California is among some of the worst states as far as economy, etc. right now, Rows.
yeah
that's why i can't live there... can't get a job
Trust me, Rows. You're better off in Honduras right now.
oh i know
that's why i'm here
My husband know I'm only HALF kidding when I say we should seek political asylum in New Zealand.
i may just not return to the US at all, honestly... i've been happy living abroad
but i still can't watch what's happening in my home country and not want to do anything to help if i can
I'm with you on that one, Judi!
it's maddening
Texas is still relatively safe, so I hear. LOL!
What do you do on Honduras, Rows?
For a living, I mean.
i'm a teacher
i specialize in English as a foreign language, and i'm teaching kindergarten
i lived in China for 2 years before this
Oh, what fun! That must be very gratifying.
I understand they pay BIG money for that in Japan and China, Rows.
it's definitely a satisfying careeer
career even
yeah i may return to Asia after this, since i need to make more money next year so i can pay off my student loans
this is the last year i can defer them
Do you speak Chinese and Spanish?
OMG---is that YOU, Rows? I didn't even realize you had moved!!!
yes, it is :)
i have been away for a while!
haha
was wondering if you'd forgotten me, but i has been a while
it has*
So good to talk to you again!
Globe trotter!
i speak Spanish really well, and i speak Chinese conversationally somewhat
you too, Mimi :)
I'm impressed, Rows. I'm 49 and I think I've finally mastered English. *smug*
haha
i studied Spanish extensively throughout high school and university
so that helps with the Spanish
Chinese i just picked up while living there, so i speak broken Chinese
I haven't been here much either since I started the new job....radiology transcription at home. I've been missing so many people.
ahh
how is it going?
I would think Chinese would be very difficult - especially writing and reading. All those symbols... yikes!
well i can hardly read and write it at all
i can read more than i can write
but still
Mostly good except for when I must try to transcribe the crazy doc whom I've named "the alien chipmunk with OCD on drugs."
speaking and listening, though, isn't as hard as it would seem, especially being around it every day all day
haha Mimi
LOL. Remember you talking about that doc before, mimi. I feel sorry for you. Transcribing is hard enough without dealing with a strange accent.
She's AMERICAN, Judi....just NUTS. Never in 40 years have I heard anyone this bad...even foreign docs. Several other transcription services turned down her work. My boss somehow can transcribe her and I told her that made me worry about her....
Ooh. Just found the 8. *smug x 2 *
lol. Proof that aliens live among us, Mimi.
haha
i like the 8
She can't be fired either because she owns the practice. Let's change the subject...my blood pressure is rising!!!
*pulls out xanax and vodka*
okay... we can talk about my vacation i'm taking next month
a happy topic
i'm going to Tela and probably Roatan
going to try scuba diving, probably :)
hi all. could I have a clue for the 8 and stats for the 7's
((ruru)) Just the vodka, thanks...but you know me so well!
Ruru from the Red Cross! He's here to make mother's little helper martinis.
Slips a little xanax into the martini anyways
You always take such interesting trips, Rows...I'm absolutely GREEN with envy.
Hi, Mag. Bu8: most lumpy.
well, it's part of living in different countries
gotta explore!
i am excited... a friend of mine from the States is going to come visit and the two of us will go together
*buys red shoes to color coordinate Mimi's color change
hello again :)
I've heard of Roatan but not Tela. I'd fail the geography quiz if you asked me where the were on the globe, though.
mr philbin is going to be pissed he's not allowed in enable
Probably do need it, ruru...have a cat that has been making me crazy for 2 days, my best friend is sick and can't seem to get the right help, well, I could just go on and on......think I'll just DRINK!
Tela is a beach on the northern coast of Honduras, on the Caribbean
not far from Roatan
<--thinks Ru would look good in red shoes.
((hego))
i have to take a 2 hour bus from Tela to La Ceiba, and then take a ferry to Roatan
the shoes were for mimi hego.. :D
Sounds lovely, Rows. Have a great time. Beware of jellyfish!
thanks:)
I don't mind sharing, ruru....if you're into that sort of thing.....
I know...just being bad. :)
and fire coral rows
*snort*
lol Mimi
i look terrible in pumps hego.. you've seen my legs :D
i think i'll be okay, as i will be taking a scuba diving course
pretty sure the poeple running it will keep me safe
i've never done scuba diving, so i have to take a course first
I think your bus ride will probably be the scariest part of the trip, Rows.
LOL judi
lol Ruru
no
i've taken lots of chicken buses already in Honduras
it's not scary
it's how you get around here
LOLOLOLO! How did you know I was picturing chickens running amok in the ai5's?
lol they're called chicken buses :P
and thanks for the clue :P
judi is just trying to egg you on rows
haha
Better get some lunch (as a vodka buffer) and let crazy cat out of the bedroom where he has been serving time out several times today. So good touching base. Rows, my next life, I want to be YOU! Bye and hugs all around.
Hmm. Chickens as bus fare. Seems practical.
Not judi!!
I had to stay just one minute longer to experience that pun, ruru!
well mimi...
I hope she doesn't miss the bus or she'll be plucked
and he's off!!
You'll have to post a pic of the "chicken bus", Rows.
I have at least a dozen :D
yolk yolk
That's our ruru -- the yolks are on him.
yeah.. we'd like a photo albumen rows :D
(oh, no he's got me doimg it now!
Rooster? Don't even know 'er.
good one
Well, he is eggstra special, don't 'cha know! (Oh, no..it contagious!)
well.. you guys bring me out of my shell
stop, you're killing me!!
Well, I'd love to stay, but omlet for an appointment.
:P
Hope you don't get scrambled in traffic, Judi.
See what you did Rows
well be sure to quiche us before you say goodbye judi
This whole conversation is cracked
Stop coddling her mimi
We are all very ill people....and I LIKE it!
lol hego

Oops, chat is blown.

Long urls make the chat run off the page.

Ooops! And I'd been so careful before using the word hint!!! LOL!
BBL for the last 18
glad you got it
hard to avoid that word
hi all :)
funny I had just typed the cl4 and thought the same thing.
hi
i don't believe in asterisking every day words in chat...just calls attention to them....like giving unasked for clues...
should be able to put re in front of it....we re+cl4 all the time.
agree pen...I wouldn't know they were in the grid if it weren't pointed out sometimes.
hi, folks
exactly....and nobody asked for that clue...
hi welki
hi welki
really??....enable doesn't recognize glub
no...someone else mentioned that this afternoon...
guess I shouldn't be surprised...it is Enable
May I please have a **** for se5-12 the 1st? Thanks
I think it's a problem for dictionaries in general, you can slap re in front of almost any word, do you just reprint the dictionary in the re section, or be selective.
se + capitol*** or comun***
the belief that only what you see matters???
Quick hi - esp to smores - long time no see!
