thx for pe8, Volley
she wasn't one of the cuddly ones. A semi-longhair with a white star on her chest, she had an incredibly long tail, and loved to take the regal kitty pose, sitting tall with her tail wrapped around her. I could almost hear her say, "you may now admire me." She was too cool to purr, and showed affection by resting her chin, inasmuch as a cat has a chin, on the back of my hand. Her favorite exercise was to pounce on my toes as I wiggled them under the covers. Fond memories.
She was 12
it is so hard to lose a loved pet
you paint a picture, melon.:)
that's the part that stinks about having pets, for sure
clue for one of the E's please - dont see anything at all ?
Her nickname was Mrs Whinestein, on account of a whiny meow, especially if she wasn't fed before I took my coat off on arriving home!

aw melon.. great stories
thanks.
we had a cat that would retrieve things like a dog
ea 7/36
ha, our animals often have their 'official' name plus nicknames (sometimes multiple nicknames too)
ty diz... new word for me
ruru, so did we! two, actually. the first liked to retrieve a rabbit's foot and the other liked to retrieve plastic bottle caps
me 8/60
on the not so awesome side, though, that first also liked to play soccer down the hall with her poop
of course the other two cats thought that cat was crazy
cats are crazy ;)
ruru, no two are alike. Our other cat lived to 18, huge greay and white with tabby markings, Missy K, aka Missy Cookie Jar, or, unkindly by her "uncle" Jabba the cat. She liked to sleep behind my head, which I tolerated even if it meant my feet were hanging off the bed! When her purr devolved into a diesel truck roar, I convinced her to take to the "ca chair", a ratty handmedown upon which they were permitted to scratch.

i used to take sunday naps and the little black kitty "ninja" would come squeaking and run under the covers to cuddle with me
yup, they sure do have such distinct personalities, quirks, likes/dislikes, etc.
McLeach, our's loved the "milk rings", the bit of plastic you pull off the plastic cap to a milk jug.
our cats have always chosen their own toys, and usually not something we specifically intended to be a toy for them :p
did someone need help with re8?
that would be me, melon!
well, for one thing, it's not an -ing word.
okay, I was thinking it would be
there are ing words :D

It's part of a re7/8 pair. Here's a cryptic clue: It's hiding amongst stones, you'll find it in real igneous rocks.
thx for the hint
yqw. I love to give cryptic clues.
phantom: sling.
.. a little too cryptic for me :D
keep looking, ruru. Do you know how cryptic clues work?
They basically hide in plain sight. See?

I haven't got it yet either, cyber/ru. Too tired. (or at least that's the excuse I'm going to give!)
I love cryptic clues and that was a beauty melon :)

I'm waiting for the other one we still have to come home yet. A few nights ago I heard a cat screaming outside and a ruckus, so went out to check to make sure mine was okay and couldn't find her. I kept checking and calling for about an hour to no avail. Then all of the sudden, I happened to catch a shadow of movement out the corner of my eye and discovered she had somehow managed to get up on the roof of the house. :p
OK, stopping at 150, top line greyed out. Fun grid. Thanks to all for kind words and sharing your cat-tales (; nite-nite [poof]
Did anyone try to pen lickety's clues? I can't get it to open.

HI and hugs to everyone
hello miz pugs. how are you tonight/morning?
Iam just fine and you?

{{hugs}} dear, i am good. the workcover surgeon says 5 months in the brace is long enough, he approves of my surgeon's plans.
oh thats great! Has a date been set yet then
so now i have to wait 2 weeks for his report to get to the insurers, and then another week for the insurers to make up their minds whether or not to accept his opinion.
so sounds like another month at least then
Is mil home yet
quip
yup....and the more they dither around, the more time they have to pay me to sit at home...
mother mac came home yesterday afternoon. she is very happy to be home....
you are going to be laid up during x-mas I bet
oh I bet she is!
by christmas i will be in full blown recovery mode....probably in hydrotherapy again.
well at least you are now getting paid and thats got to help
is it summertime there at x-mas time
yes, it does, pugs. not so anxious about the finances now.
Iam glad, that takes a little bit of weight off your mind
yes, pugs, usually temps in the high 100's C. but then again, i can remember christmases as a child, huddled around a roaring fire. you just never know...
and we still have christmas dinner with all the trimmings.lolol
I was just thinking if you got to be off may be nicer doing it in the warmer months
gets pretty hot here, pugs, and we don't have ducted air-con. it's on the to do list..lol.
Maybe Santa will bring you one :)
I havent seen Flosey on this morning.I hope shes not had a set back on that cold

hi all, how is the wide world of babble treating you this fine day
brb, MIL needs a hand....
Hi Joso--Iam being treated good and you?
grrr...why can't we have DECENT rain in the fire affected areas....from our place - we have fires burning about 45 mins drive down sth and about 2hours nth west....grrrrr
I forgot to ask about your toes yesterday, sorry, are they better
I too am well
AND the weather is supposed to be catastrophic tomorrow
Diz, will pray you get some rain
Just hope you stay safe
oh that was only a minor pain, all gone after a nights rest pug
thnx Pug
did you get the car fixed too
that's got to keep you up nights diz
we are safe at the moment...feel sorry for the firies who have been on and off the job since last Thursday
Car will have to wait until thursday, I just get more exercise until then
I feel for them and those who has lost their homes too
catastrophic in what way diz?
hey joso, diz...lovely to see you both
dry heat i suppose
diz, i understand hun, and am praying that all up there are safe.
Joso, the weather -ie winds etc. Suppose to be high temps/high winds and thunder storms. Dreading the lightening hits.
houses and stuff can be replaced. people cannot.
are they getting it under any control at all
pugs, on our news, two fire fronts were about to merge. firefighters are hoping it will create a good fire-break.
Pug, some fires are sorta contained....another they are trying to 'join' so they have one massive fire, which is mainly all national parks
did you get any more info about your molester problem pug?
I found out that shes already dumped him after a couple dates
BIIIIG sigh of relief huh pug
yes it is!
oh, so good, pugs...keeps gradyn safe
very glad that crisis passed so easily for you. :D
Joso her and I were so close and she started down this dark road of self destruction and it just makes me sick to my stomach
I know and plus the two she still has with her
why isnt remopping a word? I have to do it all the time after the dogs come in with muddy feet--lol
May I have a clue to the de740 and the de855 please
I have the de740 to do with passing out cards
I'm just disappointed 'Moop' wasn't accepted. The Bubble Boy will be happy though.
de7, de + ***her, not father + In Charge. plural for de8
goodie, a big one!
And hello {{rosie}} and {{little pugs}}

pretty intense... but ok. A lot of positive feedback.
well thats very good!
:D
{{sprite}} Itried to call you last night, to tell you that joke as it was a terrible flop in my poor French, but I had written your number down so cryptically, that thecall wouldn't go through.
and did you have the son meeting yet
Please e-mail me your phoneno, so |I can give you a chuckle
Pugs" the joke is too risqué for yu lol
aw sweetie. Will email it to you :)
lolol ruby! Our poor innocent pug... ;)
Im just pleased you two get a chuckle because you guys need it! :)
I don't want to lead pug astray!
yA think?
thanks Ruby, but Iam not that innocent
*giggles* Pug is as bad as we are... she just hides it better.
Hi all :)
the problem with the joke was that \I think it needed a voice (and probably hand gestures)
{{lizlin}}
hiya Liz :)
Been skyping with England so a late start today.
Been skyping with England so a late start today.
Sorry!! Hit enter twice!
Hi ya Liz! hugs and how are you
lucky me, cause I just started as well
Hugs to you all :) Sorry I missed Rose but just e mailed her.
Big grid - hope I have time to complete it!
what is skyping? I see alot of people using this word
using the computer for a face to face phone call - it doesn't cost anything so I chatted to my friend in the UK for 30 mins and it was free!
it is a free way of telephoning over the computer, complete with camera images if you have webcam.
oh, thanks for the imfo
I tried it but a combination f the delay and how awful I looked, turned me off
It works well for us but we've got a very good internet connection usually.
Are things just as sh***y as ever with the lawyers, ruby?
worse, if you can imagine
it's making e sick
:( very sorry to hear that. and the offspring no help, as ever.
*hugs ruby*
and tomorrow "offspring" will be 50! totally unsympathetic
he should really be helping you, no matter what
helping me? I'd be happy with a phone call!
does he live very far from you Ruby
on your behalf, I wouldn't. Phonecall AND help.
No doubt he expects special treatment for tomorrow!
he lives in TX but he used to call me regularly. Since his visit in April, I've barely heard from him
Maybe Sprite could loan you her son! She needs a break from him--lol
Big hugs
I've sent him a gift and an envelope full of interesting stuff. I'll e-mail him like there's nothing wrong
Good for you :)
ain't that the truth, pug :)
at least there'd be something to work on; my son just says how busy he is but that everything is fine!
good for you, ruby.
Pugs = not sure that ruby would appreciate Tim while he's acting up!
I'll call it "erev John's birthday"
Be good for sprite though.
since I have no baggage with Tim, it would be easier for me to deal with than for Sprite. She could have John for a while and Denise, of course, who comes with
Two for the price of one!!!
You win though
no, ruby sure doesn't need our Tim in his current behaviour. I still say, send Tim to ruby's and get ruby overhere.
Ah! Now that would work out well for everyone!
I'm sure she's the source of much of the friction as she doesn't like me, thinks I'm a terrible snob.ut of course acts sweet as pie when she's here
argh, I hate it when people do that.
Sounds like she's at the root of much of it then.
yeah, Sprite could hold Ruby's hand through all this
Nah! They'd both go out on the town!
we'd go and have fun in Amsterdam and Zaanstad, for sure.
does her family live in tx
we could pig out on rijstafel, my favorite Oriental food
Perhaps add in a trip to London - Tim would be with Burt so he'd be OK.
Denise has a huge family. Some in T, but John bought his huge house, 5 br etc, to accommodate her family
oh that would be easy here, ruby. We have all kind of rijsttafels. Indonesian, Chinese, Kantonese, you name it.
I bet they would just love it if you and burt dropped in for a few weeks(unannounce though)
I'd be happy to go anyplace to get out of here, but it's impossible right now as Burt can't do anything on his own (except drive -- oi veh, whatever that means lol)
Liz, that would be awesome :)
Hah! Remember my hubby being over confident with the spicing in an Indonesian restaurant in Amsterdam!!!
*giggles* Yeah, errr, that wouldn't be wise.
lol ruby - oi veh indeed (whatever it means!!!)
Don't know if it was a rijsttafel - lots of dishes - each got spicier!
there's probably an equivalent in Dutch lol
yep, sounds like one. Poor hubbby
her family stays there a lot
wee mij, ruby, grin. Sure, we have it. Arme ik.
And when I visited, Denise didn't even change the sheets in the guest rom (passive-aggressive, you think?)
It was just after the server had checked that it wasn't too hot - he'd said he was fine!!! Then he hit the spice!
Plain rude, I'd call it!
rude and dirty
hahahaha Liz... oh poor man, but I can't help giggling at the image.
I didn't even tell John, no point
His mouth burnt for ages! It was our first time away together!
I must admit, I did laught.
Was sympathetic too!
so you had to do a lot of kissing to make it better :)
Who me??? Innocent look!
nice try, Liz, nice try. Not convincing though...
OK - yes, I'll admit it!
when I worked with Burt, we used to have lunch in restos every day. One time, a macho Hispanic maager had lunch with us and added very hot peppers to his pasta. He sat there with his eyes streaming and his bald head sweating, and never said a word!
thats whats known as hot lips
hehehe
No ruby - right not to tell John. He'd only have got defensive.
Like that Pugs - i'll tell him!
hehehe ruby, a re4 macho man
lol pug :)
He laughed and admitted his ego got in the way!
that was a painless 100, surrounded by my pals!
that is awesome. Good man.
good job, ruby
:)
131 here - thought I'd entered lots more! Can't believe not half way!
did yu all get the Sou American liquor?

Haven't found the 10 yet!

I'm down to 175 left, lol
wow, thats fast
you guys are going strong
not me, Ive been on here for about 3 hours I think
the prob is that I soon come to a screeching halt
I hate (A) words
I only have 3 a'S
lol, poor pug... vowel words are always a little harder, for most of us.
I do have 8 gray boxes and not coounting the o ones
JUST GOT A NIFTY 7, THEN I LOOKED AND SAW HOW MANY THERE ARE....AAARRRGHHH
whoops,didn't mean to shout

in a hour? Hmmmm 147 left... I don't think so.
hah, Fr rabbit is here
Anybody got the 10?
lol ruby... from the famous lines: Dammit, man is no rabbit Enfin, l'homme n'est pas un la5 affijn, een mens is geen konijn...
not yet, hi Jackanory.
do you know the expressin, in Fr, of being left a la%? It means being stood up
hi Jack
Hi ruby
ah, no that is new to me, ruby. Nice one.
Hi sprite too
"faire un la5"

hi all
my pleasure, pug
Hello Dtins
brb--coffee
popism - believing in the office of pope
all set now to carry on--lol
ah good. I could do with a coffee as well... shall I wait until my love awakes?
nah, enjoy a cup with me
great idea. *holds up cup*
rather innocuous grid
My sister is a big tea drinker and I got her this new tea(carmel vanilla) I gave it a try and it was really good
hi o-o, good to see you. Yeah, not as intimidating as the recent tiny bastards.
cups up!
aw that sounds good, pug. A sweet smell for sure.
Morning OO
that -ism ending in the corner seems to be rather disappointing though
it was Sprite! smelled better than it tasted really
grin, tea to make and not drink
sprite did you read OO's profile...another good one, thought the picture is a bit dark
I have now. Yeah, great text. I kinda like the dark icons... this one is perfect for Halloween.
Yeah it is good for Halloween but it reminds me of the death card
He had a real good one yesterday--made me cry
did you get to take the train yesterday
missed that one :(
yeah, my love took me to therapy yesterday (he had to hand in his business car for the duration of his holiday) and I took the tram and train back. My love and Terra were waiting for me when I stepped out of the train, we walked home together.
ahh that was nice
very much so.
the death card in tarot? It depics new beginnings, endings of a phase, not death, did you know?
how long is he off
depicts*
two whole weeks, pug.
No I didnt know that Sprite
you and him got any special plans
not me. Just trying to stay alive and as mentally healthy as I can manage is my pl4. His are to break out closet in our living room, add the space to the living room and put his desk there, with his computer.
so you getting your whole living room remodeled then-lol
sounds like a good time to go to Ruby's
well let him handle Tim for these 2 weeks
I could do without the mess and noise, to be honest. All I need to go bananas is losing my safe spot at home. But it will do Rob a world of good. He is happiest when remodeling the house.
Is he like Tim the Toolman? lol
don't know Tim the Toolman
oh it was a show on here starring Tim Allen
ah ok :) Probably, then. Rob is a carpenter, originally. He makes the most wonderful things with his hands. And enjoys the process.
He liked to fix things up by superfying his power tools and making a mess or causing caios
oh, lol, no, Rob is really handy. But he makes a mess and creates chaos like nobody's business. In the end, though, things will be better.
thats a good thing for you
yeah. Guess I will be staying a lot in my computer room the next 2 weeks. Wearing earplugs.
babble burbed
did they ever get done with the roadwork
hehehe yeah, situation back to normal
no, it is still going on, pug. But, thank God, no longer near our house. I can still hear it, but I don't see it anymore.
do you like building too
nooooooooooooooo! I want peace and quiet, a place for everything and everything in its place.
well that a plus then
when I had the horses and was in the barn alot I had to repair many things and build fence too
my body won't let me do stuff like that anymore. I used to like papering rooms and reshuffling the furniture.
my body dont get near the exercise as it did when I had horse and I miss the riding and cleaning and packing feed and hay, all that goes with that
I feel like a whale stuck on the beach now :(
I can imagine. It is a great feeling to have your body do hard word and managing.
I am certain you don't look like one at all, pug *hugs*
I know, I feel I have nothing to pull me out anymore
Maybe a baby one but I feel like one, even if I dont look like one
can't you chip in at a neighbour's farm?
you are a beautiful, strong and loving lady, pug. Believe it.
my neighbors are mostly amish and they have large families and too our neighbors are not very chummy
They tend to stay to themselves(the amish)
yeah I heard that about them. But still. Maybe there is a non-Amish farm nearby where they can use an extra hand sometimes. No need to get chummy, just pitching in.
no Sprite theres not. If someone needs help they hire the amish boys. Most dont want a woman
darn. I think something like that would do you good.
I often seek oblivion. This quote captures whey: Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live. ~Norman Cousins
a few years ago Sprite (when I had the last of my horses) two of my sisters and I cleaned out a path to put up electric fence(cost me about 600.$)This was at my campgrounds. Anyway I took the mare and her colt down there came home and in 15 minutes they were back up here! Tore it all down--lol
So very true, that quote. And just living on from day to day can be a terrible struggle.
argh, pug, how horrible!
good one again OO
it wasent very funny Sprite. Three strands of wire and two months of hard work for such a small sucess
your presence has meaning for me, o-o. So does your advice. I have a wake-up light now and use it every morning, to see if I can battle the winter depression that way.
so frustrating, pug! Silly horses.
they had that wire clear down through 2 peoples yards
Sprite is your winter just starting
yes, we are in autumn now.
good morning everyone:)
hiya crossy :) *hugs*
so same as us then
1c here atm and a hard frost on everything:/ snow for tomorrow:(
((sprite))
yeah. Rose is going the other way though.
Hey Crossy! what a surprise---hows school
we are having a crazy autumn day here, crossy... it is like summer. They say it will be 28C today!
going well, puglet. am deep in english classes now and having fun:)
how is the neck, crossy? Have you found some relief for it?
28c??!! wow! swimming temps
neck is still a misery, sprite
absolutely. Kind of an indian summer on one day, grin.
its on the cool side here--34 and to climb into the 50's today
i have this counterweight thing that hooks over a top of a door and it has a chin harness and as you add weight it is suppsed to relieve pressure on the herniated disks
English was my best subject in school
does it work Crossy
do not know.it is still in the box,but i promise i will set it up today after school because i need some relief
sounds like a torture machine to me, crossy, but I guess traction is good when herniated. Sorry to hear you are still having trouble.
to start it says set up 8 pounds of counter weight and use for 15-20 minutes twice a day
and slowly add weight but never exceeding 20 pounds
Hugs Sprite and Crossy got to run.Have a good day you guys. bye bye
and to consult doc on weight settings
tc,pugs
well give it a try but stay on the safe side, I'd say. Keep breathing and keep feeling.
hi all
bye pug, have a good day *hugs*
howdy,joso
adios pug
hey joso! *hugs* How are you today?
hi crossy
I am in fine fiddle today sprite
that sounds wonderful, joso. Am glad!
brb.must hunt down a tea
I just got served a coffee... wiener melange. Am a happy trooper.
ah, yes, if you are not familiar with the expression 'in fine fiddle' is a good thing.
I figured that. As opposed to 'in a fine pickle', right?
an older expression, not used much any more
I love old expressions. In dutch and in english. Guess that is why I like enable.
speaking of enable, explain to me why la6 is valid and internet isn't... crazy.
like I have la6 yet
internet is probably just too new for enable
la6 as in table that goes across your legs Sprite
lol... compound la6.
hello all
ahhh! Thanks Kallia, didn't know there was a meaning before the computer. Now it makes sense... for enable. And hi :)
hi kallia
Kallia, is that you in the icon?
and we say in fine fettle Joso :)
well oldies do lol
one less word to worry about, tnx kallia
make that two, joso
ahhh, tomayto tomatto
lipped
oops
Kallia, is that you in the icon?
3
even oo4 is dangerous today
yes its me Sprite
awesome! You are beautiful. I LOVE the laughing lines.
thank you x
better to call them that then wrinkles lol
hehehe they are GOOD rimples. Lovely.
rimples....a lovely word :)
oh! Jeezz how silly of me. Rimpels = dutch for wrinkles.
she is right, there are laugh line wrinkles and scowl wrinkles, makes the world of difference
love it, think I will use it in future!
:D
and worst of all are faces that are botoxed or facelifted wrinkle-less. Better a good scowl than that.
oh I agree...when I see some of the older celebs...I just think 'and they think they look good'?????
men as well as women
exactly! They lost all that made them so beautiful.
did you catch rose at all sprite?
have to go out and get some new wellies, so I can walk the dog.....mine split yesterday. See you all later x
not me, alas, joso. She left just before I logged on.
ta kallia, have a good day
have a grand day, Kallia!
she went to the doc today, all good news, doc supports the need for surgery, and tells rose her surgion is very good.
oh joso, that is wonderful! Oh I am so glad. And blowing raspberry at her workcover. Yessss!
well now that I've spoiled Roses news my work is done, going to work the grid some more for a while.
*giggles* thanks joso, I am glad you told me. Already emailed rose to yelll yayyyyy at her.
I have to go make dinner but need a clue for the 10 before I do that - please.
hi Dianne, gerund to having a drink/small bite before dinner.
Thanks - just could not see it for anything.
they had to clue it for me as well, couldn't find it myself :)
the Ps are evil today. So many!
back with success from the hunt for a tea!:)
good :) and wb.
what are the first letters of the 10, sprite
btw
I'm back
{{crossy}} and it's even Tuesday
hi ruby, ap10
ty sprite, never would have seen that
((ruby tuesday!!))
guess it is the british spelling that is making it hard to find.
has anybody heard of a series "Lilyhammer"?
not me
not i
I've only seen 2 episodes of the 8, but it is exceptionally funny and well-written, starring one of Tony Soprano's henchmen
It should be subtitled "Organized crime comes to Norway" and the whole premise is a hoot!
oh wow, just looked it up and it didn't seem funny at all, how interesting that it is :)
I'm in love with the puzzle. Fantastic letter combos :)
what's funny is how corrupt the seemingly-innocent rural Norwegians are and how Giovanni is absolutely Manichean and solves everybody's problems
it is a good one, isn't it boatierra :)
hello boatierra
will keep an eye out, ruby. It might come to the netherlands some day.
the two p,s and the gerund make the first 100 words just fly onto your list
Hey ruby. Man, those innocent yet corrupt Norweigian. Can't turn your back on them.
they biting the heads off of kippers again? :)
it's such a funny idea and written by a combination of Norwegians and Steven Van Zandt.
my first endings were the past tense and person who. Then I spotted the gerund. And the -ism but that seems to be hopeless.
lol crossy!
Same here sprite, all those endings. Oh! Didn't see the -ism. Thank you :)
nah, don't thank me, it seems to be a dead one.
I still don't even have half
I'm seeing that now, bummper.
That would be bummer, not bumper.
pism
yeah. I have tried ugh words there, lol. But not one takes. I have put popism into the babble dictionary as the believe in the pope as an office.
Popism, sounds like a saying :) Oh you know the old popsim...
"win one for the gi 6/30!"
lolllll good one! Will add that def.
there is one -ism I've found, re7
Thank you lady, got it :)
how about pepism... having lots of pep
hi ivesy! Yeah, good one too.
oh lady, you just made my day. Thank you!
lol..good morning..
yw
<-- hates to see a good ending go to waste
{{ivesy}}
could u clue it lady?
plz
still looking for the re7....
how things are in fact, the actual state of things
yeah what sprite said!
Opposite of fake.
ahhhh got it ty
*grin*
I had that, duh me....
I guess that me**s it's nap time
lol indeed, ruby. Have a lovely nap.
sounds good, wish i could go back to bed, but work today .....was a zoo yesterday as both computer rooms were down, one for a class and one under construction ...people get mean when they cant use the computers.
I finally discovered the -et ending. With 20 left!
omg indeed, ivesy. Very frustrated people. I hope today will be kinder to you.
meee tooo lol.. ty sprite. only work til 2 so i will miss the kids coming after school.
Can I get a clue for the ap 10 please? Thanks.
well praise the Lord for that :) Kids can be even meaner.
boat: gerund, to have a drink/small bite before dinner
Thank You! :)
brb need coffee
yvw :)
ty, sprite
nps ;)
fireflies. That -et ending greyed out a lot of boxes for me.
what thew me was the gerund ending on it .i would clue it as when food looks very good and appealing
that would be better, I think.
i was trying to work the er ending variant for 10 min:(
sowwy, cwoffy...
then again i am still on my first tea
Gots to go to bed. Thanks for the help all :)
I am off, have fun with this great grid! *hugs* to you all.
night boat!
tc ((sprite))

It is is Aus and England
i thought sao
so
i am out for now might be back poof
Have a good day
that is what drives me nuts about Microsoft word. half the time you first draft looks like it is full of errors until you remember americanisms vs can/aus/uk
US spelling in the grid often catches me out.
can you set word for different keyboard recognition?
I use open office but my language is always set for UK English
i shall have to look into it
i use open office at home but in class i am stuck with MS office
I'd've thought if you go into tools when in Word, you can change the language
good thing is that with open office i can do homework and transfer it seamlessly to the class computer
It would be a major pain if you couldn't
most likely you are correct, liz
My six year old grandson's favorite word is in the grid today.
Morning all.
Hi Bea
I'd love to ask what his fav word is but I guess it might be a po word!
You got it!
;)
po5.16 I hope. Hi Bzzn
But that word is slowly taking a back seat to penis.
Liking your thinking Lyn
Stew is about to disappear - the next wave of thunderstorms about to arrive. Pity they aren't further north - we could do without the rain
well ladies ,it is time for me to haul this mass of muscle off to class. take care and happy babbling
bye Cross
It's so dry here too but no fires at the mo, thank goodness. Wish it would rain in NSW
I'm getting an education with this one as I raised girls. Boys are a new thing for me.
Bye crossy - have a good day
Bye, Mr. Hair.
You are officially in drought this year Liz?
Not yet. I don't think so anyway. And our forecast is for lots of storms and cyclones this year.
phangtom: despotism
a phantom too!
Have only found one ism word so far
doncha just hate those silent G's? LOL good morning everyone!
Hi lbd
hi Dawg
Hate the silent g's but none in this grid!
Morning, lbd.
hi Liz, Lyn and Bzz
a nice round 100 left - night all
Sleep well Lyn
sweet sleeps, Lyn
Night, lyn.
50 left - enough for tonight. Goodnight all - enjoy your days.
has everyone tried google today?
super fun
hurshy, did you get my url about mint cookies yesterday?
yes, thanks!
i highyly recommend them. i found them before the walmart ones.
i shall try. the thing i like about the walmart ones is, unlike with milanos, where i can't stop eating them, i can have a serving size and be satisfied.
maybe because they have more mint, like IN the cookie, instead of the layer of mint inside, or something.
that is funny, i felt the same way about the moravians, but i seemed to build up a tolerance for them.
Good morning, darlings!
mornin judi
oh my, judi, where did you find that icon pic?
Ha ha, TO. I stumbled upon it on Google.
clue for the 10 please
a complete joke, i take it. because the eggs symbolize new life.
Have you seen the Google animation for today? It celebrates the first parachute jump over 200 years ago and you can guide the parachute down yourself.
in this area two school have bainshed all reference to halloween.
Oh, how cute, Haz. I'll have to go play.
aw. too bad my browser won't allow it. and very nice to see you, haz.
I hope it's a joke, TO. It's too ridiculous to be serious. Then again, there are those who ban Halloween. The world is going mad.
It's great - innocent fun for all.
please. we are fiddling while rome burns.
The parachute jump, I mean, halloween has become a bit too ghoulish for my taste.
no, haz, it's not. it's a christian holiday and not everyone is christian, so one gets into constitutional issues.
meanwhile, johnny can't re4.
but hey, his constituional rights are being protected.
We never used to have the whole trick or treat thing but it's become more and more the norm.
and we should not go farther down that road.
Halloween is a christian holiday?? I didn't know that. I thought it was just something that evolved from a harvest festival or something.
as a non-christian, i find that somewhat silly. it is such a secularized day.
funny, it;s become the second biggest retail holiday here, esp in te4s of decorating. i ind it rather stupid.
on the other hand, some observant jews do not observe it.
from all saint/souls days
i love the mexican day of the dead and some day hope to be there for it. it really celebrated those who have died.
WHAT. EV. ER. People need to lighten up, tolerate, and stop sucking all the fun out of everything.
It's supposed to be the eve of all saints day but somehow it has gone all zombie and nasty. As children we used to have false faces of animals, now it's zombies and witches and scary people.
Judi, I absolutely agree with you!
as scary has evolved, so has halloween. we were about witches and goblins and ghouls. think william castle vs. reddie kruger
i do feel, in the u.s., halloween sort of fosters unhealthy attitudes toward death, and it's become so scary.
well it's sort of like how mardi gras is "christian" in that it is the last day before lent. but really, i mean, it's lent that is the christian holiday.
it all sort of reminds me of that one original series star trek episode with that buttoned up society that had "the red hour" each day or something, where everyone went crazy and could do anything, and nobody was safe.
well, as kids we loved to be scared. but what is portrayed in movies and tv as scary is too close to real life.
Now we call it "happy hour".
I used to love Halloween both as a child myself and when my children were young. It was just fun. Come on, people, can't we just enjoy something rather than analyze it, pardon the expression, "to death?"
lol@ judi. cheers!
As long as you allow people the right to not enjoy things.
the issue, though, is celebrating it in school. surely it can be done outside of school
ok, shall i declare the bar open?
So, true Mimi. Halloween is about pretending and dressing up for fun. Not to mention, some people like to be scared. Otherwise, there would be no roller coasters or Disney World wouldn't have a Haunted Mansion.
Many people have absolutely perfected the art of NOT enjoying things.
i cannot weigh in on that, since i went to private schools.
then again - our custodian here has a phobia about people in costumes, so even the "innocent" forms of halloween are terrifying to her! lol
I mean, really, it's one day in the year and people should take responsibility for their children's attitudes toward this and everything else. My kids LOVE Halloween to this day and they're adults...hasn't turned them into serial killers!
I wonder if the fear of costumes has a phobia name?
and candy, it's about candy. a good thing. love sweets.
probably, haz
of course, in the u.s. if you can commercialize something and sell lots of stuff, well then.
Hint for the ap 10 pls
I should use google to look it up but I might end up directing parachutes.
I love the entertainment value of Halloween. Kids look adorable, there are parades and parties. It's a FUN thing.
ml
That's the thing, the US has influenced the type of halloween we have in Britain.
i hate that.
remember when your parents put you into dad's flannel shirt, cokered your face and made you a hobo pack? that simple.
or threw a sheet overyou?
To change the subject, I have a Nature show about hummingbirds that my cats LOVE. They're fascinated watching. One goes up to the TV and can't seem to understand why he can't touch them!
aww. my cats would loove that.
well, one of them would
On the other hand, Guy Fawkes has become a bit more popular here in the States, Haz. Guy wasn't exactly known as a fun-loving guy.
Maskaphobia. I'd hoped for something grander.
something latin
lol
pooper should totally be in the dictionary
modern psychologists have no imagination
It's so much fun watching them watch TV. My Pywakit especially loves it. Gives them a bit more stimulation during part of the day.
Off to run a few work errands. BBL. *POOF*
With perhaps one exception, hurshy?!!! Me?
well, are you in charge of naming new phobias?
I wonder who is in charge? And can you imagine how long the German versions must be?
bye judi. and bye all. the rils are having a day out toeday and i'd best et moving before time gets away from me.
Nah...I'm not in charge of much of anything and, frankly I like it that way!
girls are having lunch and visiting a winery.
Bye, TO.
i'm running out of imagination for L's, myself.
ooh. me too. have doctor appointment and must bathe extra, extra thoroughly. so silly.
oh, my monkeys had more imagination than me
Down to last three and just not seeing them - ap 10/98, ea 7/36 and po 7/36 any clue would be apreciated
ap 10- Brit spelling of looking good to eat

Bye, TO.
wait, isn't po7/36 just plural of a kind of fabric? or are there 2?
bottle of champagne
?
related to baloonaphobia?
balloon
?
i'm sure you have it. pin, balloon?
one who
one who opens a bottle of champagne is po6/27
the sound it makes is po7/48
but gran was looking for po7/36.
oh. problem counting. sorry.
:)
hello friends - babbling from school again :)
i won't even do that proper noun i see because i know it will result in troubles
Hello, Trif.
hi haz. Is the single i fishy, please?
yes, fishy
count please, hurshy?
Good day to all. Haz is here! I have missed you!

hi scrabbler!
I am really struggling on ea 7/36 and po 7/36 -can't find them
and thank you hurshy
babble used to say it all the time
oh GAWD - slap me with a fish.....got it
Hello, Scrabbler. How are you?
my baby lima clue didn't help gran?
I am doing fine, Haz. Busy with life. How are you doing?
gran - do you have po6/24? po7/36 pl of that. unless there are two.
I'm fine as well. I didn't get the grid finished this morning hence the afternoon visit.
I have a hospital mtg (Dept of Pediatrics) at noon, then will shop for my mom and visit her.
name that proper noun! coke rival
ea7 -first four letters are mixed up 'Penny' as sung about by the Beatles, last three are gerund.
Is your mum doing okay? I know you still miss your dad and so must she.
Ty for clue, Haz. Mom is doing ok. For a few months now she can talk about Dad without crying.
That's good, at least you can see that she's making progress. Time heals if you allow it.
Pepsi (for the coke rival)
Yes. Grief is brutal.
I see your name in quote-puzzler a lot.
ding ding ding!
Got the ea - now for the po 7/36
Hello everyone. Nice to see you all here. Haz - Thanks for the ea7 clue. :)
You do very well in QP too, Haz!
Hi Jacula!
Some days better than others, Scrabbler. I do better if I wait until the afternoon.
Hello, Jacula!
I do a victory dance if I ever beat nrkii. She's phenomenal.
Never played QP and think I've lost the link now.
You'd like it, Jacula. www.quote-puzzler.com
I'll give it a go, Haz. Thanks for the link. x
Is the total for today 278 or 279
279
Some of the games are timed and I'd like to know how important the time is versus doing it carefully.
Right I have 278 - still looking for the po 7/36
plural of po6/24
Are there two po7/36?
Don't know, Haz. I was late starting and still have 74 words to find.
sperm
*giggle*
the po 7/36 is a fabric, pluraled
Thanks Matches. I hadn't spotted that one. :D
Jacula, are you watching Great British Bake off?
yes, Haz.. there are two po7.36
Hi all
Thanks, Aloy and hello.
Haz - Not every week, but I do catch some of it.
Hi Aloy.
Got that one - it is the last po 7/36 that I am struggling on
It's the final tonight. I'll have to race home from Dog training to see it. I want Kimberly to win.
at last
oh
it is past tense of po5/12
Haz, I am amazed that nrkii dominates the games everyday.
I'm trying to think which one is Kimberley.
She's the black girl with the beaming smile.
Scrabbler, I think we need to find out her techniques or maybe she's just extra brainy.
Oh, yes. It's down to her, Frances and Ruby now.
BTW, Haz. I've recently updated my blog (in case you'd given up looking).
I could tolerate being in a kitchen with her, I couldn't tolerate Ruby's mess and moaning.
Yes, Ruby is a moaner. I was about to say that. LOL
I'll check it out, Jacula.
Now making it clear we're talking about Bake-Off contestants Ruby, Frances and Kim, NOT any Babblers who share those names!
I have no doubt that she's very talented but have some joy in the kitchen! My daughter describes her as 'Droopy'
Lol - 'droopy' covers it, Haz. :)
name that proper noun! a person from a certain fictional country, eg Balki Bartokomos
Name the royal bridesmaid...
Pippa
pippa!
Ding ding ding!
No idea for yours, hurshy.
well, it was an american show, so, yeah
Pippi Longstocking
Oh, I remember reading that decades ago.
are there any -isms?
Yes, re7
ah yes!
It's the only one I've found so far.
Thanks for the re7.
You're welcome.
I want teapot, but it isn't there.
name that proper noun! craddock, who would get advice from miss marple
I can only think of scary TV cook Fannie Craddock. lol
She WAS scary.
Dermot?
ding ding ding!
Gosh, lucky guess.
i thought you would get it, haz
and FYI - balki was a MEPIOT. :)
Mom has called me again. More shopping requests.
from the fictitious island of mepos, off the coast of greece
My Mum should be arriving soon to collect her spare keys that my daughter borrowed yesterday.
I just found to8 by myself.
i have 2 8's to go
plus other words, i mean
wtg, Scrabbs
...and I've just found to8 because you said there is one, Scrabbs. :)
V has 3 democratic words and... ?
tipping
I've only got those 3 v words, too, hursh.
to8 brings to mind those amazing domino set-ups where they fall down on cue and create works of art.
Yikes, Free clue!
vo5 - looks like a French verb for to be sick.
vo5
Thanks Haz!
ty
De rien!
that gives me 90%, so i shall now list
I'm going to get ready for my afternoon excursion with Dempsey. It's a beautiful day so no need for a coat. Good to see you again, Jacula, and I'll check up on the blog. Bye all!
Enjoy your day, Hazel!
'Bye Haz. I'll write or 'phone soon.

Absolutely.
Thank you, Nef, and hello.
I've just started this grid and am having fun (so far). I imagine it gets harder the longer I play though.
It's an interesting grid, I think.
I've been here less than 15 minutes and have 60 words found so far! :-) I'm always encouraged by that!
You'll find a lot more, I'm sure, but it's always nice to rattle off a good number at the start.
It is, isn't it? I need to entertain my grandson in a bit; so won't be on here much longer, but if I can get to 100 before then I may be able to finish later tonight!
Just keep adding ing and you'll get there.
LOL! So true today! :-D

You need to type in the "Lickety Add" space
i know its the only place to do so
but then that would me i have to do every word myself. I thought they were supposed to go in when you put them in a list on this page?
everytime i put in the words they are entered but when i go back they are gone
Copy your words on this page. Go to the top of the Lickety page and click on BULK ADD. Paste your words in the FIRST box at the bottom. Click on ADD and they will be in Lickety's list.

lolo. crossie, was wondering what was going on in your he4, now i know...
Is there any literature on the attention span of a goldfish?
granny, you would be horrified if you knew all that was going on in my head at any given moment
yes there is o-o. it is aprox 4 seconds
some say a bit more, some a bit less
i believe it, crossie...
I understand the attention span is quite good for what a goldfish has for brain matter.
what were we talking about? ooh shiny
well,if the fish can remember to eat, swim and poop that just about covers it all
roflol
i used to like shiny things, dan,but it ended up taking too much concentration
what do we want?? "A CURE FOR ADHAD!!" when do we want it? "SQUIRREL!!!"

nope
well that's what he says my problem is...i keeping being distracted by the squirrels, and miss huge chunks of chog...lol
sorry, was watching the cat clean its face. i am back now, granny
While most people believe that the attention span of a goldfish is a few seconds this has been proven wrong. A study done by the School of Psychology at the University or Plymouth in 2003
yes, bet they studied the dilema for all of five minutes before firing up their facebook accounts lol
blah blah blah

my child is fully grown , o-o he can deal with life on his own terms now along with whatever advice he choses to take or not take from the old man
((mimi))
They don't take much advice from us when they're "grown," do they ((crossy))?!!
I told mine I just hope I live long enough to become smart again in their eyes...may have to be 120!
a million and one things we do or not do during our child rearing years shape and mold the child into what he becomes in adulthood. how or what we drink or do not drink is but one of them
not much at all.by the time they figure out ole mum and da are right, the parents curse is fully entrenched
Even though all three of mine have college degrees and have been self-sufficient since age 18 but I get no credit for that....that's OK...I now have grandchildren I can spoil rotten, turn against their parents, fill full of sugar and send home!
grandchildren are a parents reward for not killing off their own brood
I remember my maternal grandmother telling me (at age 23) that now she knows why my mother came into the world...to get US together!
I once told my best friend that I now know why some animals eat their young....
i told him that too. when he was ten or so ":i can take you out boy and make another one that looks just like you" a few years later he said "dad, you better be nice to me because i get to decide which home you go into when you are older"
Must get going....glass is empty. Have a good night, everyone and hugs all around. Special (crossy hug).

Hi Bugs, ruru will cheer you up. Maybe I should come for a visit too!
now murder, that's interesting.
Oh and I really really like you icon
{{saani}} hellooooo
good plan ruru. My loving husband (who has a hoarding gene, I swear) collects "good stuff that other people throw away." Tonight he came home with a dead washing machine that his brother wanted taken to the dump and now wants to hook it up in the back yard and then let the water just pee out all over the lawn.....
hello heelo to oyou too!
I WILL NOT LIVE IN DOGPATCH, no matter how much I love him, so I have to calm down
hi saanich. sorry about the rant
sounds very trying, i think. worth a rant.
poor bugsy. at least it's not costing you anything. mine, on the other hand, spends the better part of everyday cruising through web sites, looking for something to spend his money on.
and I don't want to entertain friends in Dogpatch either.
DH is on a first name basis with the postman, and both couriers who deliver to our area.
I work to be grateful for that granny but I will have to spend thousands to clear it all out later if I can't get him to only bring home things he actually can use.
my ex was a bringer of junk too... "But was on SALE!!" etc
I would like him to fix and sell it or fix it and donate it to the women's shelter so they can give it to a worthy person. He just wants to keep it.
here's a thought..try....thank-you dear, i know exactly what i will plant in that...
when you chase someone else on sadie hawkins day maybe he will get the hint
so saanich, when you asked him if he needed it tho, did he respond, "I will now". I am sure others understand my plight and it feels good not to be alone
I have a friend who owns 20 boats ranging in size from 14 - 26 ft. In his backyard. He has never used them.
omg, saani....
joso and granny, I love those ideas. Bring on more! I am starting to feel better
I persuaded him to part with a lovely Davidson dingy.
so when you come to vist we can go boating
I can't beat 20 boats but we do have 2 boats (that have never seen water) and a 42 foot long landing barge
I would love it saanich. I have always said the only boat I have ever wanted is a little row boat
my ex brought home two of those plywood boxes on wheels with a well in it to hold a till - ywo rolling till carriers.
a barge!
or, if you are that persuasive, perhaps you can get him to part with something
you must live on the water?
I'll try Bugs. He is possessive pun intended about his STUFF
Mab I live across the street from the water, so lucky!
yes mab but we are not on the water. It is in our back yard. He has another one he pays rent for because I only agreed to 1. If I weren't so embarrassed would post a picture of his part of the yard as an icon.
one hopes so, and with a large property, it would all be so much worse if bugsaw lived in a 5th floor walkup bachelor.
hahaha love to see it!
maybe with some clever plantings....
oh, oh, bugsy.....why don't you cut off the power cords? then look quizzically at him and say, didn't you see the cords were missing dear?
BUGS!! SAANICH!!! ALL!!!! I HAVE MULTIPLE WALLS!!!! hold on, I'll upload a couple to the website...
yahooo!! stiddy, wonderful news...
heya Stid!!
when he had it brought here, the neighbours started calling me Mrs. Noah and asked what we knew that they didn't. They have been wonderful about the increasing hoard.
preferably a vine
like kuzdu
congrat stid
YAY stid! I saw the first wall and how proud you all looked in your "private" spaces.
private?
*thinking the rinse cycle on the backyard washer must be really fun at Bug's house *
there was only one wall put up but there were pictures of stidkid2 "in" his bedroom etc.
cripes ruru, if he gets it his way, you will be the one to use it! I hadn't thot of it as another attraction
I used to have a "hoarding" gene.. now i'm throwing stuff away
my father was a hoarder
I'm trying to be more Zen like :D
Mrs Ru must be very proud. Give her a hug from me for waiting it out.
okay, pics up
I saw your comment, bugs, thanks. :-)
great stid, where?
uh sorta I guess
on my site, bugs. Easiest for my non-fb folks to see them there.
yes, Grant is trying to be nonchalant, but I think inside he is ready to go home, too. But I also think he is scared of the memories (and so am I, a little). I hope that having a completely new house will make it easier.
just checked there. It looks great. Even a window! Now the excitement begins
:-) yep. And more lesson planning. I have to figure out how to re-teach symbolism and theme to 8th graders tomorrow. What I had been working on apparently didn't save this weekend. (((hugs and choclits for all))) have a great rest of the week! *poof*
I'm going to try to keep my mind off food!
curls??? what's the problem, dear?
good plan mccurl. I was successfully distracted from my emotions by these wonderful Babblers. Good luck all poof
glad to help, bugsy.
been sick for a couple weeks; started with cough; progressed to sinus junk and now that stuff is causing stomach issues and nothing stays where it should
yuck, poor curls. cup of hot water/tea, very little milk. steam will help sinuses to drain, and will break down the viscosity.
may try that granny, I love tea! Thanks
np's, curls. hope your tummy settles.
I know! I manage crackers but I'm just a bit apprehensive about anything else after losing my delicious steak dinner yesterday :-(
going to make tea BB
