hello all, I'm miserable.
Hello E1
aww Jilli, hows the puter going?
why? jill
My computer is all screwed up with malware I can't get rid of.
a nasty thing called Snap.do has hijacked my browsers
all because I needed to download Java Runtime
f's are: fe 4, 5, 6, 5 fl 5, 8, 6, 5, 7 fo 4, 5, 4, 5, 6, 5, 4, 5 fr 4, 5, 6, 5, 5, 5, 6
won't your av program get rid of it?
and now I see there
disable the antivirus you have and put on a new one....free if ya google....it may help.
and now I see there's no Lickety again
was hoping to have lickety tonight :(
I can't get to Google -- this Snap.do takes over search.
try 'restoring your puter'
q's qu 4, 5, 5, 6, 4, 6, 5, 6, 5, 6, 4, 5, 5
I've been on to something called PC Cleaner and I think it's a scam too. I've been working on this for about 5 hours.
They want $200 to fix things. Alos, I had to pay for PC Cleaner -- they offered a certain price and now I find they added something I didn't ask for and charged another $20 for it.
I hope I can stop payment on my credit card, but of course it's a Sunday coming up. I'm SO tired and upset!
do the credit card stop NOW
I've emailed people I trust who built my puter and I think can really help.
i wonder if restoring to an earlier date would help, jilli
did you try doing a system restore to an earlier date?
i have un 7 x 3, but still need one more u
no -- don't know how.
I am short one u, too... un 6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8 so far
if you're using windows, you can go to the control panel and find the restore function there.
same here dee
jill -- are you using windows 7?
I hate when something is wrong with my computer; hope you get yours fixed ASAP, jili

I went to MY Computer to uninstall Snap.do and it said it had done so, but it's still there.
Yes, nan, Win 7.
lo 7/40
l's are lo 4, 7, 5, 6, 5, 4, 5, 4, 6
ah, one bright spot -- one of my fave words is here (te 5/12)
click on the start button and type system restore in the search box - under control panel heading you will see restore computer to an earlier date. Click on that and follow instructions. You will have to shut down all other running programs first.
ty jiloi
thanks nan. I'll try that. See y'all later, I hope.
hope it works -- it should
fingers crossed, jili

Well, system restore didn't work -- something is corrupted. That Snap.do would not have been removed anyway, it said.
so sorry that didn't work for you
dee so there is an ei4/5 and an ei4/7 ??
ei 4/5 and ei 7/44
What is really upsetting is that it was a good friend trying to help me do address labels who caused this. s
sorry that was obscure
might have happened even w/o the friend
he missed seeing some small print when installing Java runtim-- I had seen it previously and declined it, but she didn't notice and barged through. I'm going to hold off now and wait for the people who built the computer, hoping they know how to fix it. Otherwise I guess I might be stuck for $200!
jill - my pc has just been in for repair with software corruptions - very frustrating and no idea what caused the problems
did your PC go to Vegas Jilli.. that might have corrupted it
computer guy downloaded Malwarebytes and told me it was a good malware programme - it is free for downloading and seems to find a lot of "baddies" - maybe worth a try ?
No, dee, I saw that okaying that step would have installed Snap.do as my search engine permanently so I didn't do it. Later on she did okay it before I could stop her.
hey everyone, good evening :)
hi toed
I'll try that too, ursh, if it's free -- thanks.
ooops rows

I'll try again tomorrow -- too tired now. Won't have much time tomorrow -- going to a play which lasts a long time, I hear. Should be fun though -- all about a bordello!

lol...joso...how are you, mate? finished packing yet?
good god no, will be a while yet, kind of a horder
hmmm, time to discard,do you think??
not quite as bad as to have stacks of newspapers, but lots of books, games, art, computers and computer parts, records
if you haven't used in the last 2 years, chuck it. however, if it's value has increased in the last 2 years...keep it.
selling off 40,000 comics this time
awww, joso...that must be difficult for you.
it is, but just don't have room, and have a computer with a copy of almost ever copy of every comic on it, so can still read them.
but is that the same as having the hard copy?
no, but much easier to store
how are you doing anyway rose
okay. to me that says you would rather read the comics, than own them...am i correct?
*sigh* joso, one day at a time, mate.
trying to hold on to your patience as you await the surgery?
I'd rather have the comics, but a rubens print is almost as good as a rubins. I do like reading them, an interesting media. Like the beatles they became more sophisticated as I grew and needed more.
yup, joso. just took a potty break. and why, oh why, when we are in a deep and meaningful does DH serve dinner?
xoxox, joso, bbl, after dinner
np, have lots of grid to work on, maybe after dindins
okay, have inhaled dinner...mucho delicio...you still here joso, and pugs?

tnx, been hunting that for a while, nice to have that itch scratched
*scratch, scratch* (do you groan like himself?)
noooo, a silent reliever

some of what gets scratched should not have attention drawn to it, in most circumstances.
oh, yah think???
mmmm, yes, yes I do
so is MIL adjusting to to her old reality at all?
yes, joso...finally...not sure how long it will last...lie waiting for the other shoe to fall....

so the other day molly obliquely accuses me of being crossey
hmmmm, not to pay much attention to that babbler..only babbler with their IQ and age in their profile...
Is there a list anywhere?
marc, in volleydeemoms profile
I told crossey of this, letting him know if he gets some odd reactions from people this rumor may be why. He responded that their is only one crossey and was going to ask molly what's going on when he next sees her. We haven't seen molly since. lol I'm sure she will resurface sometime though.
thanks grannyrose
I wouldn't worry about MIL, your household has been her established norm for a while, having readjusted to it again I wouldn't expect further prob's on that score.
Could I get a clue for the last fr6, please?
marc, plural of fr5, fr + vowel + South East
thanks
joso, so believe there is only one crossie....and only one joso....thank heavens!!
you couldn't handle multiple joso clones running about the place, lol
no way, joso...lolol
no worries, not interested in sharing the glory that is me, even with myself.
watching "the sapphires", what an incredible sound!!!
I saw that, was very good.
they have just arrived in vietnam
captures the era very well
absolutely!
my wonder years!
me too, just missed out on woodstock and seeing the beatles
saw the beatles. went to sunbury...
was one of those frenetic teens screaming and waving in melbourne. * giggle *
Had a friend going to woodstock, asked me along, at 14 I didn't think I would be allowed to go so I passed, regretted it ever since.
yeah...so know what you must be feeling...
as to the beatles asked for tickets for a birthday gift, as there were only rafters tickets left when mom got to the front of the line she passed, said I wouldn't have heard them anyway due to the screaming girls, so it's all your fault. I think I was about 3 years too young to get some of the best stuff of the times, though maybe it kept me out of trouble.
awww, poor joso....
*sniff sniff.... bwaaaahh*
almost over it now, hard to hold a grudge with a dead parent. would love to be able to say i saw the beatles though.
{{hugs}} joso. *hands him a tissue* suck it up, man
or went to woodstock, instead of holding up an almost touching thumb and forefinger and saying 'I came this close' I have this self image of bond, but the reality is so much more like maxwell smart, lol
Good morning - don't worry, Joso. My mother was also never allowed to see The Beatles, because my grandmother maintained that their hair was too long
lolol, joso...aww poor volta....
oy, hard to remember those attitudes these days. today is sooo much more casual
Poor Volta's mother, really! Poor POOR Volta because by the time I was born, the Beatles weren't even a thing ;)
ahhh, poor volta's mum....
I wonder what victorians would think of bell bottoms. Catching a glimpse of an ankle was the thing in those days. bells obscured the ankles well, of course from the knee up they were painted on.
are either of you watching the masters and johnson show?
I think we all have mixed feelings about bell bottoms ;) and hm, what would that show be, Joso?
new cable program about the people who did the sex study in the 50's, well done. Amazing they got so much right in the study as masters is so trapped by the paradigm of the times. Seems much is owed to johnson, the non professional but much more practical partner. interesting view of the times
Oh, that sounds very interesting. I doubt we'd get it on TV here though! Perhaps I'll look it up
where are you?
Morning babblers
cooee anita
let me guess, oz or new zealand
hi anita
Just reading some of the chat history! Oh to have been around then,
Or should I say old enough to have participated
the fun spot of southeast asia made getting to woodstock problematical
something tells me you would have likes the psychadelic sixties, could it be.... your icon du du duhh
Oh no, I live in Finland! Much of our TV is American and English though, of course, with subtitles.
Lol Joao, was a 60,s child
oh, such a fascinating country, very interesting history. I've always liked how you gave russia a bloody nose in the winter war.
hello everybody {{rosie}}
hey ruby
Gooooooooooood morning everybody xx Would somebody let me know how many words today please? xx
223 today worzel
223
Hee hee! Nobody has ever said that to me before, Joso. Thank you!
I read over the chog and, although I was old enough to go to Woodstock and even lived in NY State, I was already married :(
ty joso and anita xx
hello joso "way, joso"
Volta, we, too, get many US and UK TV shows with Fr subtitles
Quin
{{{hugs}}} ruby darling
Oops sorry, me and this iPad are a disaster
Do you find that you listen to the English, or are you, like me, inexplicably drawn to the subtitles? I -know- I understand the English, but my eyes just wander to the words...
it is necessity here. My husband is deaf,so he reads the subtitles whle I listen to the words although sometimes, it it's slow eough, I compare the words with the lame translations
volta, DH buys so many DVD's, all with sub-titles. and that is my main objection...watching the sub-titles, i lose track of the film.
Oh yes, the subtitles are often so weak compared to the dialogue! And Grannyrose, I quite agree. They are somehow so compelling!
but on a dvd you can turn off the subtitles
and not understand the dialogue, joso...*sigh* caught between the devil and the hard place.
ah, not english films
ooh, just found the 9 on my own! yay
yay, ruby...nice job
worth the trouble though, the scandinavian girl with the dragon tattoo was so much better than the hollywood version
ummm, have to agree, joso...loved the girl with the dragon tattoo.
and the other...house of the flying daggars
Manon of the Spring is also one I am thankful to have seen due to subtitles
not seen that, joso
anyone a fan of Mogen David and the Grapes of Wrath?
o-o, the wine or the symbol?
the band
an older french one, about the machinations to get a bit of land that has a hidden spring. gets very machiavellian, you would thing it was the great powers going for oil in the mideast
not seen it, you have a link??
interesting joso
http://tinyurl.com/kq9hyo3
Jean de Florette is the first film, manon is the sequel
if you do torrents the 80's versions are available on line
sorry o-o, never heard of them
okay, 45 minutes since pumpkin time. thanx o-o and joso. you have both given me something to look for...hope you both have a good one...me?? sleep looks good.
g'night rose, rest well
*yawn*

{{crossy}}
Hello again. Sprite: I'm new here, and we haven't talked yet, but I've just been looking through the babble details in your profile. So funny! And now I wonder what I'm getting myself into :)

whoops, elbow hit the "something" key
hello volta
brrr crossy, indeedydeed. COLD!
it finally stopped raining and there is a very wan sun
probably warmer inFinland
Hello again, Crosshair :) I didn't mention it at the time, because I didn't want to draw attention, but I was very impressed with how you handled that unpleasantness yesterday. I thought you were very noble.
we just have to get used to it all again, sprite.soon it will be minus 25- minus 30c and we will be out there skiing and snowshoeing and all the rest of it
here as well, ruby. But darn darn cold. Am sitting with a shawl around my neck, grin.
unpleasantness? What happened yesterday?
And hello again, Rubyfoo, my fellow subtitle-reader ;)
Imissed what h appened yesterday. How in the world could crossy be involved in anything unpleasant????? Impossibe!
wy,tyvm, volta.was just trying to defuse the situation
lol,ruby
nah, not here, alas, crossy :) This is the Netherlands. Cold winds, lots of rain, and maybe snow and ice later on.
<-- has a sweater wrapped around my neck as well as several other layers
There was just a player making cruel comments to others here. I'm sure it's no surprise to you, but Crosshair was very dignified and civil through the whole thing. It's the best way to be!
crossy rocks big time. Who was the unpleasant player?
never descend to thier level, they will just beat you with experience lol
roflol crossy. I like that one.
i stole that one from mark twain
cruel comments to Crossy? Let me at 'em!!!
If you're gonna steal, Mark Twain is a perfect source!
lol,our little ruby is feisty this morning:))
*gently leashes ruby* Calm, calm, you little fire cracker! :)
well,he has so many good ones
Maybe it's the best thing if I don't say the name :) I don't know the player, so maybe they were having a really bad day and might apologise quietly later. Nobody likes a newbie who can't wind their neck in!
yes, best just let the name alone for now
"Reports of my death have been exaggerated"
ah but crossy can tell me. Don't let me read the whole chog!
reports of my death have been egerly anticipated lol
hahaH, FELL OF MY CHAIR
lol!
ruby mixed her meds again!!!
wasn't it mark twain as well who had that brilliant saying about his father? Like his father was a complete idiot when twain was 17, and how amazed he was at 23 how much the man had learned in 5 years time?
lol, like i say,he has all the good sayings
lol crossy
if not for my meds, I'd probably get a loaded gun and starty shooting lawyers/!
have you read his autobiography yet?
it is on my to do list
you would be in your rights, ruby, I am sure of it. There is some clausule about being greatly provoked, right?
besides, they do not put little old ladies in prision.get the gun and have some fun
ya think? The lawyer keeps saying that they do!
Oh, some of these non-words are so sad. I would hope there would be an award for the 'floundiest' flounder.
and if they do you will be the cell block hero for bagging a few lawyers
well, even if there were, Volta, it would still be a phantom :( That superlative ending is useless today.
no, sprite, I used it for dr9
oh... never mind me, Volta... babble blindness here. There is another route to the superlative, now I see it.
hahah
oh - thanks for that one, Rubyfoo!
"Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience." ―George Carlin
one more for half
but still no 4th column e.....
well, seems we shall have to check the provenance of it after all
when you are under du6, make sure you take enough no7ment.
ahhhh, xx sprite
ah, that is the one, o-o. Nice to see you.
yvw ruby ;)
no 10, but it's time to lie down
see you later, kids
nope.it is twains work.carlin also stole it
See you, Rubyfoo. Have a nice nap!
“Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.†― Mark Twain
that is a good one also
ah, that is where the confusion comes from. I like this one as well. Too true.
anyways.too early to split hairs
what is the stats for the 10 please
bye ruby, have a good nap. When she wears a better robe than her friend, she ou10 her.
have a good nap ruby
ou10/84, jpc, and hi
ty for that one,sprite
thanks
yvw crossy
yvw jpc
Does anybody know if the player VolleyMomDee ever talks here? Her lists are so helpful, it'd be nice to thank her.
yeah but mostly around flip time
she is part of the flip crew, Volta. 00.00 gridtime and up.
hi hursh :)
hi *sniff*
you sad, have a cold or both?
cold
in either case... hot chicken soup coming up.
Oh, thank you both :) I think that's perhaps 7am my time, so hopefully one day I'll be awake to thank her.
*hugs hurshy* Just got over one. Lousy thing to have.
ty
yeah, 7 am is doable. Same for me here, flip is at 7 am for me.
Oh! Time zone pals
I used to play at fliptime. But am not finding it fun anymore. Some people want to do a race, and others spam the whole chog full of clues.
we are :)
Oh, that sounds a little intense. I can't imagine racing with this! I'm the player who more or less accidentally flops over the finish line.
spamming clues? . . . bummer . . . just thought it was fun to share the biggies
hiya Une! Yeah, some people think so. I don't. I like to find some stuff for myself.
biggies stats sure but people have taken it way beyond that i think
yeah it is intense nowadays. More relaxed later in the day.
yeah, I was referring to stats not clues
I agree, hursh. Up to 6 letter words, and endless lists.
well, the lists are posted when there's no lickety
ok . . I'll keep my comments to myself
no need to do that
room for different feelings here
also when there is lickety. It is a pity, but it is not to my liking anymore. Am glad I found a time when it still is fun for me, with nice people too :)
Une, we don't have to agree on everything, do we? I still love you just as much ;)
Agreeing to disagree? What a novel idea.
is it just me or is this an awesome grid
it is, hursh, with a lovely bite to it.
you think so, MimiCat? And hello.
Yes, hurshy...liking it very much.
Hello again, MimiCat
Hello, everyone! Volta, how are you liking Babbleland so far?
Well - I'm still here! ;) I'm having a lot of fun, thank you
my cats don't understand about fall back - brb
*grin* neither does our Terra. Takes a while to get him on our new schedule.
I felt bad that you had to be exposed to our less than kind participant o-o (aka BR) last time I was here. Many of us just try to ignore him.
and some of us don't. Rather cheap comment, that one, MimiCat.
You had no way of knowing how cruel his comment to me was...but my hero crossy, per usual, had my back!
Maybe the new people need to be told that o-o/BR is a longstanding member here. He has made no secret of his mental health problems nor has he disguised the fact that his experiences in Vietnam have had a profound effect on him.
My comment was cheap, sprite? You should have seen what he said to me...it would have even made your blood boil.
We're all terrribly tolerant of other people's outbursts. If o-o annoys you, yes, ignore him, don't carry on a campaign against him.
amen to that, Haz. It is so easy to judge and feel superior. Too bad it is a lot harder for some to allow for different backgrounds and dispositions.
Exactly. No need for talking behind people's back.
Just because he has issues does not excuse him from observing common courtesy and respect.
Knowing he has problems should perhaps give the signal not to engage in confrontation with him.
and just because you have issues does not excuse you from staying away from gossip and talking behind people's backs.
i don't think there is anyone here who has the right to cast stonesl not one. wich is not the same as dealing with something one finds offensive. there are at least two people here who have made very intolerant comments about religion. "just joiking", of course. which does not change things.
As you know, sprite, I very much appreciate other backgrounds and points of view. I do, however, draw the line at tolerating cruelty.
it is prettry cruel to try and set up people against eachother. And no, I don't know about your tolerance, personally. I just don't like what you did just now.
Absolutely, TO. And in that light, I think I also have the right to express myself. I was just sad that Volta had to experience that venom when there was really no reason for it in the first place.
hi TOwl, sometimes people can say very hurtful or stupid things, I agree. But it is very different, not liking someone's words or bringing down a person.
I'm going to get some breakfast and excuse myself from this for now as it is not the tone I intended to create. Have a good Sunday, everyone.
In a community of smart and different people, heads will knock. I hope that this player may find some peace, and we can all be gentle. As a newbie, I think that's all I feel qualified to say! But I am certain that MimiCat meant well. Everybody has been very welcoming.
how many words today?
all: i am not taking any sides here. except against venom and intolerance. I've lost my temper on occasion, and i;ve told jokes that have fallen flat or been misinterpreted. . But i do know it is a loss of temper and not my right to free speech. the tone of chog makes me just want to lurk nearly always. and now i will go about my day.
hi Ouwachita, 223 today
ty sprite
Thank you, Volta...I appreciate your understanding.
bye Towl, have a lovely day
am glad you feel welcome, Volta. This is a great community, as a whole.
And I am off to serve lunch. Bye for now.
bye Haz, thanks for pitching in. Enjoy lunch and have a great day.
Will do! Toodle-oo.
bye, haz.
It sure seems to be. When words are merely typed and not said, there is so much room for interpretation, so I am glad that so many people here seem to take a deep breath before responding! The rest of the web could learn a lot here...starting with youtube, I think!
argh yes, indeed, grin. Some people here are often misunderstood because they are very 'tongue-in-cheek'. Impossible to tell from written text, though you do get a feel for people after a while. I think it is wise to never talk behind people's backs. If you have an issue, work it out between the two of you. Much better for the whole community.
did you see the day when i was doing a colbert and pretending to think that poor people don't deserve health care, and crossy thought i was serious at first? lol - luckily that was an easy one to clear up.
lol indeed! There should be a smiley for irony and one for sarcasm.
sorry, one thing: if i have taken some one on who is here and worked it out, it is worked out. no grudge. just to be clear.
I like that in you, TOwl.
good morning, stats for the E first row 4th column?

Five kittens are racing around and climbing all over me. Walden is chasing after them.
hi McLeach
aw
whooo hooo gran
like that show on animal planet - too cute
hi Sprite
awww that sounds so sw5.
kittens are so much fun, Bzzn :)
McLeach, close to my last name.
my username?
My last name is Leach.
ah, gotcha
kittens are awesome. Am just reading a series about a wizard and he got landed with a kitten himself... carries it around everywhere he goes... still thinks it is only temporary. Doesn't realise cats pick their humans and not the other way around.
our cats almost have us fully trained now
cats pick their everything ;)
lol, true Mc Leach
but you are smart people, crossy. Your cats picked well.
:)
I must have sucker written all over my face then.
'morning, crew
g'morning welki
no way, Bea. I think they read "true lover of cats" and made their move.
hiya welki :)
well, must thing on some plans for breakfast..how does russet taters cubed and pan fried all crispy and golden in butter with diced valencia onions, jumbo over easy eggs, a rasher or 2 of hickory smoked, maple kissed bacon and toasted english muffins with three fruit marmalade sound?
howdy,welki
lol, Bzzn - ours sure think we do
sounds like a dream, crossy. Not sure it would be healthy though!
First we dig Walden out from behind the wall in our house. Now we have these five kittens that I pulled off of their feral mother.
Ohhh, Crosshair. Crying because I had muesli.
all the best things are bad for you
see,i should be eating what volta ate
see... true cat lover. I knew it.
i gots a mitty face right by my face
we is having a cuddle
Only rabbits should be eating what I ate! Breakfast isn't as much of an event in Europe as it is in North America, I think. An American breakfast can make me weep with joy.
Then there is the momma cat and her first litter, five + one she adopted, all living on our back porch.
but crossy breakfasts on a regular basis will clog the arteries
back in a minute,i best get in the kitchen and rattle some pans.volta, here in this household, breakfast is a event, the big get together for the family for the day beofre we head off and do our own thing.lunch is soups and stews or grilled cheese and dinner is just an afterthought with light picking at best
i go by the creedo 'eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper"
so,the muesli may be for dinner here :)
aw Bea, it is kitten paradise with you!
I don't call it paradise, sprite.
they say that is the best way to set up one's meals, crossy. Though I still think we should go easy on the bacon and cheese, grin.
Love cats, but this is out of control.
are you finding homes for some of them?
yeah, it sounds a bit muchish. But bless your heart.
2nd column E stats please?
bzz how many cats?
et4, 5, ed4
Lunch is generally my 'main event', but I think that corresponds directly to how much I like to sleep in.
I'm trying to find a rescue that will take the five kittens.
150. Will have to do, gotta go. Have a good day, all. Bye.
bye McLeach, have a good one
Twelve cats and kittens, mlf.

The six outside cats are here to stay, I'm afraid. Trying to get them all fixed so there aren't more.

Hi Volta. Are you in Sweden?
Oh, hi, ChrissieDee. Close - I'm in Finland
Close enough
But right by the border, so I think you get half points!
I've not been on at the same time as you yet but I've picked up a few clues while trawling for clues - lingonberry, snow and time zone 1 hour ahead of uk :)
My son-in-law is Swedish
Thanks for the half points :)
I din't think I've spotted any other babblers from you part of the world
Oh, you've been a detective! And, that's great...I think Swedish men are quite lovely to look at ;)
That doesn't surprise me; there is not the same emphasis on learning English here as in other parts of Europe. Lucky for me, I was made to learn it! I have a very adamant mother.
Yes, they make a lovely couple. Who knows, I may have cute grandkids some day!
That's wonderful :) where did they meet?
Very foresighted of her. We English are so lazy (in general) at learning other languages
sees
At university. She did a semester at Gothenburg, came back engaged, 10 years ago
Fortunately for me they live in the uk
Wow! Like a fairy tale. I bet you were surprised! That must have been a great semester; Gothenburg is a beautiful city
Anyway, lovely to meet you. Off to the kitchen now, bbl
Yes, you too - all the best to your daughter and son in law!

what did you do to your ankle?
twisted it on Tuesday evening
just walking... stepping down from a wooden deck type of floor onto the ground, and it was rainy and i was wearing rain boots
ouch. Hope it is feeling better.
i'm apparently bad at stepping from one surface onto a lower surface
i did the same thing to this ankle in China, walking down a step in the metro station
thankfully this sprain isn't as bad as the one that happened in China
it is healing faster than i expected :)
well that is good.

frozen fermented grape juice, nancy, in German
well that is not going to get it for me unfortunately
don't know that term
google frozen wine grapes in Germany nancy
got another clue for it
a sweet German wine made from grapes that have frozen on the vine
well google did it for me thanks for the lead
actually sounds good, would like a glass of it right about now
it is unbelievably sweet stuff nancy
well probable wouldn't like it then, don't like too sweet wine
a nice dessert treat now and again, but honey-like sweetness.
probably
it's thick too
yes, syrupy.
well, might as well have a teaspoon of honey then
...not to mention being incredibly expensive :D
who drinks this stuff then?
or should I say spoons this stuff
wine collectors
It's drinkable. Many people, which is why it's so expensive.
it is kind of a rare thing for the conditions to make such a wine
well, would probably sample it just for the fun of it but doesn't sound like anything really enjoyable to drink on a regular basis.
yeah.. I've had a few in my career..they are interesting..in the intensity and richness.. but the sugars are too high for me to enjoy more than just a taste
if I am going to indulge in sugar, give me chocolate every time
chocolate is the easy way out :D
out of what?
a sweet tooth
oh, I think it is the best way to satisfy my sweet tooth. Everyone has a different preference. Mine is semi-sweet chocolate.
mine unfortunately is ice cream.. one of my vices

oh yeah, I like that too but I have found if I limit my serving to one Klondike bar, it satisfi

ah, too slow
no problem, that was great of you.
trying to figure out what FR 5 I am missing, I have the edible one and the fabric which also has a plural. I am guessing it is probably inbetween...
un 8/60 any hints?
fr, 4,5,6,5,5,5,6,5,5,5,6
un8, un + not noisy + plural
un8/60 not noisy plural usually used with "souls"
tyvm
Joso, that can't be right. I have 6 FRs with only one F word left. You clued 11 FRs.
ph, do you have the fr5 meaning opposite of stale?
No, thanks!
I keep missing that sh with regard to endings.
going crosseyed, drop the last 4 from the list, i stuttered

clue for the 2nd QU 6?
qu6, medicine
Oh, that's a lovely clue, Joso. That moment in The Sound of Music always has me choking up.
add part of the spanish cheer to the 4 before it
thank you!
The last qu 6?
plural the qu 5 that sounds like a group of singers
qu6, one of 5 + a vowel
Especially when the Captain chokes up momentarily - always brings a tear to my eye. Ohhh I have to watch it now.
OK, then it must be the 6 before that I need...
sorry, that is 2nd last qu6
ah
ah,
last qu6, petty english noble sq7, less the first letter
that works for me! Thank you.
a plural
howdy again my friends:) back for a few more
howdy crossey
I learned my lesson and added ISH to a word! It worked!
i tried being dietish once..it did not work.bacon is a harsh mistress
howdy,joso
yes, bacon is a harsh mistress, but so good!
not to worry anyways.the way i figure it,bacon gives me an odd form of immortality since the dr once said to me"each slice of bacon will take six minutes off of your life".... well,in that case i should of died in 1850..
Check out my post about bacon on Babble FB page crossy....
and hello phan and joso
what is that, inverse immortality
will check it out ,jilly
something like that,joso
hey jilly
will have to ask Mr Hawking about it.he will have the answers
Hi, Jilly
eating your way into history, should we look for you in the background of civil war photos, lol
see? monounsaturated fats..there ya go;)
lol, remonds me of the 12 monkeys movie
reminds
Yup...very big in Paleo diet...
who would think that time travel would be opened up by such a simple choice as choosing the right food to do it with? lol
just not seeing those 5 remaining LO's
i call it "the Nitrite effect"
I'm just babbling for fun today, not really focused on finishing today....
lol, there is a guy on the internet fascinated by time travel, has plotted timeline charts for all the time travel movies.
as a bonus,if the theory utterly fails as least your body will be well preserved
nor am i jilly, just feel like getting the odd word and prattling on
yup...looking for high point tiles..did get nbt/nbs when first on..
I am totally unable to do that, I chat or work the grid, not tallented enough to do both.
problem with the entire thing however is i find i am always having to put up little plaques that say "crossy was/is/will be here in 1850,1849,1848" etc gets tiring
kind of feel like i am in a douglas Adams book half the time
LOL...ROFL infact
hence i always remember my beach towel
when that becomes a full time feeling, it's time to get help
thats where the djinn and tonixx comes in,joso
if and when it becomes a full time feeling,i will not be worrien in any case, because i will not know it
worried
same thing apples with going crazy, you just open your eyes one day and suddenly it is 20 years later and you have gotten very good at weaving baskets and swallowing thorazine tablets dry

the infernal thing was a luddites view of machines
NM..got it
I've never met any luddites I guess.
nor have i
i think they went out with the love of trains
get it now joso - but it was a bit of a stretch to know what you were talking about there!
they came in with the industrial revolution and lost!
yes, was a thin clue, glad I found a better one
and what is not to love about a good old fashoined steam locomotive?
I always find it interesting to find out different phrases and terms from people here. I learn something new nearly every time I play! :-)
and the infernal machines were the looms in the factories that put home weavers out of business
nothing, thats why I think they ended ludittes
can someone clue the ei 7 word please?
ei7, german for icewine
It's three a.m. in the morning, The train whistle is blowin'. It sounds like some lonesome song got in my soul, In my soul. My baby spent the bank and he won't be back no more. My baby thinks he's a train. He makes his whistle stop, then he's gone again. Sometimes it's hard on a poor girl's brain, A poor girl's brain. I'm tellin' you, boys, my baby thinks he's a train. Locomotion's the way he moves. He drags me 'round just like an old caboose I'm tellin' you, girls, that man's insane. My baby thinks he's a train.
ty joso
just felt like postin that
Luddites were a group of workers who followed a man by the name of Ludd and protested the factories that put many out of work and paid starvation wages. They would break into factories at night and smash the equipment.
factories that pay starvation wages..wal-mart right?
lol
close!
ei 7, pleaseÉ
yes nan, they pegged the problem on the machines, rather than on the social system, unions were the practical answer.
ei7, german for icewine
tyvm joso
ty joso
Okay, heading out until later, have 98 left...but only 2 each left of the 7's and 8's...hagd all *poof*
i am not even going to comment on what unions did with the big employers we had in this town.we are lucky in that we had tourism to fall back on

ty joso
he was a nice guy, crossy - ran into him at an airport in the late 70s, very gracious, seemed like a giant to me. i still have his autograph somewhere

ser se + exists in the real world **
hmm....

i have those two words...
that's the only se7, pen
actually the three word sequence
i have the 4/5/6 sequence
oneok, pluralize the 6
my six is already plural
there are 5 words with that se root, pen - the one you're looking for sounds like plural of someone who takes
(or plural of that roman guy, julius)

how is everyone? I should be working but am not.
hi sue.
help with re7/36 pls
am fine sue, afe wminor niggling things but overall could not ask for more.how are you and how is frank?
hi peri, crossy, joso, and welki!
a few minor*
re7, leftovers, esp of explosions and chem experiments
we are both good, crossy. Frank just had some blood tests on Friday, will see the oncologist tomorrow, probably have a scan soon.
great clue, joso, ty
life is good here sue
1 c here at the moment and a crisp fall day.sun is so bright and the sky is so clear you feel like you can stand on blue mountain and see forever
oops - puppy just chewed the insoles out of Frank's sneakers.
opps
bad puppy
he only chews Frank's shoes - mine are out all the time and he never bothers them - pretty funny
just think of a puppy as like having a toddler for the next 15-20 years:)
well, he's really my son's puppy so maybe he'll move out after another couple of years :-)
well,if franks feet are anything like mine, the shoes will have a tad more..boquet than yours do
could be - I haven't checked closely but then I don't have a doggie nose either :-)
hehe
he also got into the kitchen cabinet and chewed up a box full of empty plastic sandwich bags (new ones). ???
mm,have to have a care there.we had a friend, their cat got plastic from a bag caught in the intestines and had to have surgery
time for baby clips for all the cupboards
the bags have moved - I suggested childproof cupboard locks but we're renting - probably the landlords wouldn't mind, though, they are friends of our
*ours
yes,and they have ones now that alter the cupboard very minimally and are removable without much of a trace
there are removable cabinet locks, but they're a pain in the neck to get on and off
ah, will have to look into that
si6/18 pls
or - just move the dangerous stuff to one cabinet that you can lock. hahahaha - remember mr. yuck stickers?
the ones we had onluy allowed the ciboard to be opened an inch till you reached your finger in and pressed a release clip
i remember Mr yuck! stickers

Phew...finally finished, with a light snow falling outside.
oh god..thank you for Canada dry ginger ale.the bacon i ate this morning is biting back this afternoon:(
yaaa for volta!
minus 1 c here atm but no snow yet
Thank you, Crosshair! Now I get to have a midnight feast, tee hee...
5;14 pm and the sun is starting to go down already.rather pretty though as this evening it is a ball of fire as it sinks below the horizon on georgian bay;)
Oh, that sounds lovely! Winter sunsets can be so stunning, especially when the sky is clear. At this point though, our sun is setting about about half past three, sigh!
Where about in Canada are you, if I may ask? It sounds like you know a thing or two about cold, dark winters!
*!* ta da *!*
crossy, that was a great performance, that young couple
indeed it was, welki.volta i am in central ontario canada on georgian bay.we can easily dip into the minus 30s during a proper winter day in january, thought the winters have been soft the last 3 years or so
coldest i have recorded here is minus 44 f/c
brrr - glad to have the - 30+ winters behind me!
out west of us however they get into the minus 50,s or they used to.global warming is knocking the hell out of us
north of our treeline the permafrost is a gaping mess of mud and sinkholes in the summer now
Wowww! We don't usually get THAT cold here - which I'm glad of!
hope this year is a normal winter
i'm in alberta - -30c is typical here in mid-winter
Ontario always makes me think of that poem by Al Purdy - The Country North of Belleville - it makes the environment sound pretty harsh.
it can be harsh but we are paid back with exquisite beauty
must go toss a load of laundry on brb
In the far north of Finland, I'll certainly drink to that!
more like -50 with the wind chill factor in AB
We can get down to -30 here, but in general our winters stick around -10 or so. The thought of -50 blows my mind.
where are you volta? - that's our typical winter as well
except I don't think I've ever seen it get down as low as -30 here
machines are full, bah! anyways minus 40,s and 50,s are rare now with the average jan-feb being minus 15 to minus 20 and winter ending a month early
last year winter for us was all over by end of march
I live in Lapland, Cybernan...we're probably on quite a similar latitude to much of Canada, now I think of it
you may be right,volta
eastern Canada is the same latitude as northern California. We are close to the 49th parallel
I'm afraid I haven't been able to travel much in Canada. From what I've seen, it's a fantastically beautiful country, but really I've only stuck around the Rockies.
our latitude is 44.5 (had to look it up)
hehe - -30 or -50 - they're both cold enough to freeze your nose hairs :)
certainly one of the more beautiful parts of our country
Ours is...+67.95. But I'm not entirely sure what that means ;)
crossy hates that.my mousetache freezes up
our latitude is 51.05
are you in Edmonton, welki?
Hahaha, Crosshair! Ditto.
Clues are up
calgary
ty lickety -- how is the fire fighting going?
hey lickety!! nice to 'see' you - thanks!
Oh wait, that's only funny if you can see that I'm a girl. No moustache here.
ah -- do you still have snow sticing around from last week?
*sticking
last week's snow was all but gone - and now we have a fresh 6" or so from yesterday/today's storm
Hi, I've not been fighting fires lately - they are under control, less work to do.
glad to hear they are under control now.
howdy,lickety
welki, you guys out west can keep it.i can wait for snow..though my new jeep is just aching for some deep powder to wade through
Another reason to appreciate what you do - TY Lickety
Morning everyone
howdy,lynxx
november 3rd and i'm already tired of winter *lol*
I sent my son a picture of our back yard - a beautiful sunny fall day - with the caption 'no snow here today' -- didn't get a reply, so I guess he didn't appreciate my humour!
lol
hi lynxx :)
november 3rd and i am already tired of christmas displays
nan, i got some new golf clubs yesterday - i should take a road trip to your neck of the woods!
the course is still open welki, but with morning fog coming off the lake and a very narrow window of decent temperatures during the day, I've packed my clubs away for the winter.
what kind of clubs did you get?
callaway solaires
ooh - lovely - I'm jealous!
Oh, Welki - I just realised you said you were in Calgary. I was lucky enough to be there for the stampede a few years ago, a very fun city :)
and the most comfortable shoes - ecco biom (pricey, but i have crapola feet)
nan, golf town had a demo sale yesterday - they're brand new, still with the plastic on i paid less than half price for them
love ecco walking shoes, but their golf shoes are too wide for me
just got some new shoes there
Good day to all.
well heck, volta - you should have planned your trip for next year, after we've already 'met' !
hi Scrabs
hi scrabbs!
Hey, tell me a few years ago ;)
I was raking leaves today for about 3 hours and my body is seizing up.
*getting into the time machine* i need to go on a diet - tight fit
well done scrabbler - I've managed to put that chore off until tomorrow
It was lightly snowing too and that was my best motivation to get those leaves into the woods.
call the neighbor who has a hot tub, scrabbs - tell them it's an emergency, that you NEED to get into their tub
I will take a hot shower soon. Doing laundry now.
Soak in some epsom salts.
It's lovely to go to a place where you know somebody. I usually travel alone and make friends in hostels, but the best thing is always to have a local to show you all the best places!
hot water, a cup of tea, maybe some methocarbamol ...
you are lucky you can dump them -- around here we have to bag everything -- dumped leaves and pine needles create too much fuel for forest fires.
hi bea
I raked leaves onto a large tarp then dragged the tarp to the edge of the woods.
volta, now that you're here in babble-land, you'll have friends all over the world. some of us are pretty lucky to have met face to face
I am afraid that I will not be able to get myself out of the bathtub, Bea, because I am so sore.
That's the way Hubs does it, Scrabs. However, this year he has decided to muclh them with the lawn mower and let them "nourish" the lawn.
Mulching would be ideal.
It sure seems to be easier.
I have much less raking to do in the backyard.
Hi, welki.
chat break - later, folks
My backyard is surrounded mostly by hemlocks.
I should get something out for supper, just don't know what!
bye all - see you tomorrow :)
I had frozen pizza. My local sister is here for the weekend.
Bye, Nan
If anyone needs to use Lickety, the FR7.40 is an extra
Didn't know Lickety was up.
He just put it up a few minutes ago
I see...
Hi Lynxxx
hi Scrabbs - you missed me waving when you first came on
howdy,scwabby
Oops, I missed you. Sorry. I am delirious and could go to bed now.
Hi crossy.
Go and have that hot shower - sounds like sooner the better
I am decompressing here and digesting dinner.
It's the first time I turned on my computer all day. I went out into the yard at 9:30am. We turned clocks back an hour today and I love having a 25 hr day.
as did i,scrabby.the morning seemed to go on forever and i got a lot done
we went onto daylight saving a few weeks ago - its fantastic having light evenings
Raking, laundry. finally carved 3 pumpkins...
silly isn't it - as though we really do get 'more'
...time
it is all perception.one hour does not change our universe.give a few daysand it is back to normal
The falling snow was my best motivation to get those leaves raked. In another few weeks the ground will be covered with snow.
there is no fr7/40 in lickety
hi Peri
Hi Peri
hi lyn, hi all
like the man said" you cannot cut 2 feet off the top of a blanket, sewit tothe bottom of the blanket and expect to get a longer blanket"
Haha
fw, bye for now
Bye, peri
Congrats and bye Peri

Hello 72 Temple Owl.I am well. About to give up on puzzle
why is that?
I have been here off and on all day and I am tired of grid. I never finish big puzzles anyway, especially big grids with no Lickety's list. However,I will clue whatever words I can clue
y7es, i thin finishing will be a pain even with dee's help.
Lickety put up list!
So he did kristin! Thanks for the heads up & thanks Lickety!
he was here about an hour or so ago...
i went lisless for the first 194...
I've been listless until now, but I only have 159 words now.
i used molly's list after a while...it was tedious...
I put MollyL's list in my profile, but just took it out since we have Lickety's list now.I usually don't use lists people post, however, I do appreciate them taking the time to post them so I try to return the favor and post a list too.
i almost always hit a brick wall and need a list to finish...
hi I'm glad to hear there's a list!

Have done both with no Lickety's list for today. I'll just try "F'ing" along the top row and see what happens! ;-P

Hear hear, Jmcnrick. Travel is my number one passion, too. Just about every penny I earn gets spent on it!
You just answered my qusetion!
an element of work for about 11 years. . . always an element of pleasure and curiosity. . .
I travelled aLOT in the 70s and early 80s, loved it and miss it immensely
i am hoping to go to China and Myramar in the spring. . .
like crossy I have seen little of canada, been to montreal, and helicopter skiing in bc. have done some travel outside Canada though.
The West COast of BC really is amazing. Please see it before the oil freighters screw it up. There were 1000 dolphins travelling alongside a BC Ferry a few days ago - video on CBC
i went to China in 1981....much different now, i know...

we are bound for the east coast next year after i graduate
if we hadn't had a good wind and traveling at a good clip I would have dived in with them, afraid if we stoped they would have keep moving.

Flip time is just under 3 hours from now?

Correct ..

un + librarian's admonition; pl
or, rather, we were on Daylight Savings time, and yesterday it ended
un6/30, a word that means there is nothing else like it (it's not really an un-- word)

ah ha! TY, what a silly word
yup, it sure is!
Hello again, hi phan, BDG et all...
(adding to my cheat sheet)
Hi, Jilly.
re6-27 please....thanks
add the qu 4/7
just fo5 that -- re + the last part of the rhinestone word
Thanks so much, phandmd
hmmm *puzzled look*
re + 1st qu 4/7
only takes it with an e...
se6 is a shiny little disc, they put it on clothing, kind of like a rhinestone . . .
re6 rhymes with the se6
oh... THaT qu4/7....LOL
re6-18 the 3rd please...thanks
sorry, my bad....re6-18 the 2nd....thanks
sounds like to memorize something and then say it publicly
2nd one. re 6/18ance is futile
re6 is a re****ance movement
if you know startrek next generation
to oppose
Thanks much, phandmd and Gwen.
And o-o.
my list shows an eq7/40, but that can't be right, can it? i mean if there's a Q in it, the score has to be at least 7/44
a magazine or attorney
es
no, it shows up as 40 points
no, that's an esq-- . . .
so, a mistake on the list? (wouln't be the first time)
e + stop + the movie the great **cape
the tile total is 10 x4 = 40
you lost me completely LOL
di6-21 the 2nd please....thanks
e + ****ters never win + to evade capture: **cape
they are both the same with different last vowels
same as teh above, different last vowel
same as the frist di6/21, just change the last vowel
Thanks much, Gwen.
TY, o-o, finally got that silly eq7
I am going to call it a night now. So tired.
Sweet dreams, phandmd
Niters phan...sw5/18 sleeps
7 to go all Ns, night phand
ni5-10 please.....thanks
ni + net or river: ***ne
just now reaching the ns
ne5 is that japanese babblet that means foreigner (or generation?)
Thanks so much o-o.
fireworks! last word was nu6/24
Hope you are well and smiling, gapeach
I am indeed, thanks, o-o/
i have a theory, and here it is: The Q has a 5 under it, but when the game scores it, it only scores 4
WooT WooT WooT bdg!!
Only 3 left.....didn't think I would get this far.
not quite as many we5 words in this grid
no7-36 please...thannks
my theories do not approach the level of an hypothesis
no7 = n + not yours but ***s + adjective ending
Why you eat ga
The QU scores 5, which means the eq7/40 is correct.
LOL....sure, I just now see the nu5/6 combo....LOL
Thanks so much y'all.
a 7/40 can have a 4-point letter in it, but not a five. AFAIK. Also, check out the re8/55, which also has a 8 scored as a 4
oops, i meant a Q scored as a 4
That was the last one. Thanks for all the wonderful clues. See y'all at the flip.;
WooT WooT WooT ga....still plodding along here
hi, 73 to go
7,28 = all 1s 7,32 = one 2 7,36 = one 3, or two 2s 7,40 = one 4, or a 3 and a 2, or three 2s
i don't see how there can be a 5-point letter in a 7/40, unless the Q is really only worth 4 points
it's only a computer program, and it might have an error in it
Q U is two letters
The q is worth 3 and the U is worth 2. They used to be separate tiles. Dr. God The All Knowing combined them to make the grids work better.
Babble doesn't score the U separate from the Q
it was always a Qu, at least in babble. but it is irrelevant if they used to be separate
missing the 2nd qu6/27, clue plz
no no no no Gwen, in the way back they were two separate letters.
Though that means no qats, qadi, qadis nor suqs.
that is correct dc, and that really suqs
qu + not out + latin name for the sun s**
it is irrelevant if they used to be separate
oops, i meant boggle, not babble. (now i'm babbling)
I just happen to remember the day when Dr. God announced that he was changing it.
qu = 5 + 5 1 pt letters = 7 letters,, 10 points,, 7/40
you're missing the point here. a 7 letter word with one 5-point tile in it should score 44 points.
oh, thank god, Gwen has validated my memory!
ty BDG!
yw jilly 8-)
Dear Lord....*thunk* just hit the wall of 20 re's
okay, look at the ei7 word. it has a W in it. 44 points.
I always do the re's last Jilly and I'm there now too!
german fermented grape beverage made from grapes that froze on the vine, Gwen.
It's not a 7 tile word, it's a 7 letter word ..
score is not based on tiles, it's base don letters
(if this game scored more like boggle it wouldn't be so confusing) LOL
okay, if the score were based on tiles, then eq7 should be 27 points. (brain-tilt!)
off to bed now, night all
Well, I have to hit the pillows too. 32 left and have a balanced 3663 points...niters all!! And harp...finished the re's....LOL
"poof*
20 to go, not much chance....
go harp go
Howdy everyone!
15...
uniquer
