ah, glad you are well, i guess I skimmed too fast
we got severe storms coming our way tomorrow due to this heat wave passing through
how do the chickens react to a storm?
they go to their roost most of the time
DH doesn't sound too good rose, do you think he might hbe getting the flue again?
yesterday I seen three bluebirds fighting sparrows over a nesting box and I thought they went south for the winter
I thought the chinises food might had not settled good with him
joso, wash your mouth out...i certainly hope not.
but I have had headaches that have made me throw up that they get so bad
I hope not too, be a shame to spoil your trip
Reaction to msg in the Chinese food perhaps.
and for Rose to get the flu when her surgery is right around the bend
he noticed when we arrived at this motel that he could smell the sawn lumber behind the buildings. he thinks it has set of an inflammation in his sinuses, hence the headache.
hopeful bad food of some sort, then it'll pass quickly
omg, liz, there was msg in the food last night. i remember asking himself should we ask for it to be left out.
If so, hopefully he'll feel better soon.
So many people react to msg and it's used so much!
okay, just asked him. pain is better, and he agrees, as we haven't had msg in ever so long, that may well be it.
what is msg?
liz, in victoria, it is used very infrequently.
pugs, it's a chemical flavour-enhancer.
mono-sodium-gluconate
it's a flavor enhancer that alot of Chinese food places use, kind of like salt
dont know that Ive had that
Much better. My experience is from a couple of places in London. We always asked for food without msg.
since I live in the backwoods Ive not heard of it around here
Just call me Dr. Liz! Lol!
if you eat Chinese you probably have
well that is a nice title Liz--lol
mcdonalds used to put it in their food, to encourage people to eat more. now out-lawed in victoria, the state where i live.
once in a blue noon Joso
cant say Ive ever been sick from eating there or at Mc either
fine for most people, but some are sensitive to it
wasn
Msg can also make you hyper and twitchy.
since I dont work at the nursing home anymore I rarely get sick from flu or other air born illnesses
here stuff going around about how msg effected children? something to do with the way they grow?
* wasn
*wasn't there*
knew i'd get it right sooner or later. typing in the dark here. doln't want to turn the room light on.
Could be. Haven't heRd that but having little to do with kids, could've missed it.

hi all
have a good one yourself pug, hi jbp
i just looked at the time... yikes
what kind of dog is that in your pic?
it's a bouvier des flanders
ah, i guess i've only ever seen them in the dog shows. (not outside and in snow)
it looks like a very happy snow dog
the one I had loved snow, after a good romp in it he would snuggle up in a big snow bank for a nap. made me shiver doun to the bones to watch him sometimes
i'm back again - coffee at the ready - morning jbp xx
i had a lab like that. she thought she was all graceful. used to crack me up.
hi, worzel.
well, i am off for sleep, because of the hour. hope to bbl.
poof!
Being as I've only found 33 words could I have a clue for the 8 please so I feel I've achieved something lol xx
No 8 and only 1 x 7 here worzel
How are you?
oh ok ty Chrissie. How's you hun? xx
op + short for the dog lover that just left *** + the letter you add to a when before a vowel + past tense
I'm not bad. Went to Waterloo 2 have dressing changed yesterday but it's already started to slip off, so when we go town today am gonna look for some gaffer tape lol
how's you and John Chrissie? x
That's not good. The care you've received has been appalling!
Don't overdo it in town and keep the area warm.
is that waterloo ontario?
Well, to be fair the staff are all very nice, but I wasn't happy because I didn't want to go to waterloo for obvious reasons and we tried to ring district nurse but there was nobody there all day!
We're fine. Give my love to sis.
No joso it's a district in liverpool uk x
ah
will do chriss - she's looking over my shoulder now and sends hers back
xx
where is this wound?
the wound is on my tummy - i had appendectomy but because it was gangrenous they had to go in via my tummy so i have an open wound about 3 inches long 2 inches wide. It's starting to heal and there's no pain now, but it needs re-dressing every other day
would hope they could dress that properly.
They're using a new style of plaster - it's easier on the skin when it's peeled off, but I think I'll suffer the waxing and ask for the old style plasters again - at least they stayed in place! There's one particular district nurse who is a right cow - she comes in and literally RIPS the plaster off!
I asked because I had a wound in an awkward spot, dressings would not stay in place until i had the idea of adult diapers, which did the trick.
no use to you though
Well, the plasters they're now using are about 5inch square and they feel like nappies (diapers) but, like i said, because they're easy peel-off's they don't seem to stick to the skin for very long. I told the nurse that yesterday and she said i could stretch the plaster back into place so I did, only for it to come away at the other bloody end! I can't win lol
Still, compared to the agony I was in on the morning before my op I can't complain about a plaster
doing
oh lordy that's the third time i've done that today - im so sorry!
no, a pain in the butt, and you want to avoid infection of course, but not a big problem anymore.
It's my own fault really - I thought it was trapped wind. Was in pain for 4 days in mid tummy area, but after 4 days went to dr and he sent me str8 to hospital. The surgeon said it was so bad that when he opened me up the appendix literally fell off in his hand and my stomach was being poisoned. I was extremely lucky, methinks!
yea, seems to be a male thing, 'I'll just shrug this off'
weirdest part of it all is that 5 years ago my sister had the same thing when she was 1 day younger than I was when i had mine. sisters and brothers have some strange connections, i guess!
Right, I guess I'd best get up and get dressed. Am off into town today to have a pre-Christmas snoop. I hope you all have a good day/evening and hopefully will speak to you all again soon. Take care y'all xx
have a good day, time for me to wander off too
od
good morning all
hi Sprite
hi lyn :) xxx
seems everyone has finished this small (again) game
looks that way. Am not finding it easy though.
yeah - I am up to trying nonsensical combos
hehehe indeed, one of those gr4s. Am not even halfway.
down to 19 but think I'll give it away for tonight - bye Sprite - hope your day is a good one
night lyn, have a lovely night. *hugs*
An apt feeling for this gr4 would be the AA 6/27
hehehe too true, zooz. Hi :)
How is life treating you, Sprite?
If thine enemy wrong thee, buy each of his children a drum. - African proverb
all in all pretty good, zooz. Our car is fixed now, we are mobile again. Meeting went well, though it was very taxing... they wanted to look at my parents and Rob's. Lots of bad memories. But it is behind us and from now on things will be better.
Hello, o-o
lolol o-o! That is so wicked. Glad to see you.
That is good news, Sprite, bringing up bad memories can be difficult i am sure. But if it helps in the long run, then it must be worth it i am sure.
often, you can see some patterns recurring through the generations... and they resonate through into your current family. Worth looking into.
and am so very happy with the car being fixed. Free to go when and where we need again.
Sorry..had phone call...Yes i agree...funny how we often say when i grow up i am going to be different to how my parents were..yet as you say we find we carry many traits of our parents..and some of them not good.
Yes i remember you saying the loan had come through..glad you managed to gat your car fixed..so restricting without one.
real life comes first :) Yeah, as you say, some of them not good. And also, we sometimes tend to overreact. Like when we weren't cuddled enough, we may tend to overcuddle our own children. Who in their turn again may not cuddle their kids enough. etc.
Survival-oriented changes in the brain are necessary for the children who face threats to their fundamental protective relationships and their very survival. When the brain stays in survival mode beyond its funcational necessity, three key self-regulation systems in the brain are impacted: the reward/ motivation systems (centering on midbrain areas responsive to the neurotransmitter dopamine), the distress tolerance systems (centering on limbic brain areas responsive to the neurotransmitters serotonin and adrenaline), and “executive†systems for emotion and information processing (centered on the medial and dorsolateral prefrontal cortices). The result is that the child grows up with a brain that has been hijacked by its own alarm system, as we described in Hijacked by Your Brain. This can lead to serious problems including alcohol and substance use, health risks such as smoking and obesity, mental health outcomes such as depression and suicidality, and social risks such as violent relationships, teen pregnancy, and delinquency (see www.cdc.gov/ace/). http://tinyurl.com/lbcquwx
wow... that is interesting. Thanks o-o. Very apt for me.
Very interesting, o-o, and thanks for the link at the bottom..will take a look at that later...as the depression & other bad thoughts..i can relate to.
copied it in a word doc and will check out the links later on as well. Might even translate this text for my therapists.
I do like your attitude, Sprite, with the "From now on things wil be better " A nice positive attitude to have.
:) I try to be aware that all we can change is the now. And if we do that with all we have learned, that we may make the future a better place to live in.
Amen to that.
How far are you with the gr4, Sprite?
So much is unknown about the effects of childhood trauma. Some professionals insist reliving the trauma is essential to desensitizing it.
let me see... 13 left and struggling
yeah. And others think that reliving it is adding to the trauma.
and you, zooz? How are you doing with the gr4?
I can see how that would work in many situations, o-(, to help understand where it went wrong for yourself. And how to cope and learn from it.
I need one more F but am struggling..i have fa6,fa5,fa,fi4,fi5
The dilemma is in the treatment. It is hard to change learned behavior without a grasp of the behavior involved.
I have a fu5/22
I meant o-o..this keypad is hard to type with.
That is true. I think, from my own experience, that a certain amount of reliving and remembring and revaluating is indeed essential. And when most is clear, it is time to move on and learn how to cope and act in the now, and look to the future.
Thank you..looking.
It is the breaking of old habits and thought patterns i found very hard to do..depression can be very cruel..lol
Found it. Thank you, Sprite..knowing the first twp leters certainly helps..lol
oh I agree. Once you spent 30 years thinking selfdestructive thoughts, they feel like old shoes or an old coat... shabby, sure, but so very comfortable and so very much 'you'.
hehehe ain't that the truth...
I am told I have a treatment resistant illness ... the pros are reluctant to tell me whether the resistance is mine or the the illness
Comfortable yes i could not agree more..it is so easy to just slip back into the old me..i have to keep self assessing myself..although i have found over time..it is getting easier..and thats where the breaking the old cycle patterns come in.
well, in that case they suck. It is part of the illness, of course. You wouldn't _choose_ to feel like this.
same here, zooz. I can so easily slip back, and sometimes I catch myself riding the downward spiral. I guess that is progress though, grin. The catching, I mean.
Not sure i quite folow, o-o, do you mean..like that you don't see you have a problem..or that you do not see your problem is not as big as they make out...sorry for being dumb..or if the question was too personal..then do not answer.
they also tell me I have a personality this is not conducive to therapy. So, I expect they have answered the question.
that is
the implication is the illness is treatable but I resist making the changes required to treat it.
sorry to be rude but that is such a heap of baloney. If the resistance to change is huge, it simply means the pain it covers is even more huge. And more is needed to build a bridge and gather up enough courage and strength to experiment with changes. Blaming it on the patient stinks.
Ahh i understand you now, o-o
the implication is: since I cannot cure you, you are to blame. And that is a rotten thing to say and do to a patient.
Yes you make a very good point there, Sprite.
These thiings can take many many years to help to try and understand...sounds like they can not be bothered for the long trip.
Life is so fun!
If that is the case, o-o, i fel for you.
Aint that the truth..lol
lol... yeah, life is SO fun... when you are depressed, and suffering from childhood trauma, and war trauma, and can't find a way out... of course you would resist treatment... that is why you went out of your way, facing so many fears, just looking for help...
Actually i do feel beter within myself that i did a few years ago. And i am more positive for the future..Also yes i am finding life can be more fun, more times now than not..so that has got to be a good thing.
you came such a long way, zooz. And you are still working on it. That is great.
Agreed, Sprite, I was wondering if there was anyone else, o-o, could turn to for guidance.
I underand depression, having been through 3 bout of "clinical depression" many years ago. Medication helped me get through them plus psychotherapy. And I continued working (teaching) through the whole thing
I have learned enough to realize what I might do to function at a higher level. Words like cure, recovery, happiness for me are slippery concepts and for me meaningless.
some of it was situational, some physical.
hi ruby :) Depression comes in many shades and shapes. Some will react to medication, others simply don't.
Thank you, Sprite, And may i say..You too have come a long way. from the things you have told me(us..as in babble..lol) i am proud of you and the way you try and help people. even though you have your own problems.
Hello, Ruby :-)
that is so true Sprite
sorry for butting in
I needed the combination of meds and psychotherapy But there was a point where I would work all day and then get into bed with my shoes oh!
been there, still there sometimes, a lifetime of fighting it
Hello, Kallia, Long time no see :-)
I hear you, o-o. Functioning at a higher level than before is sometimes the best one can do. I truly wish things were different for you. But I know you have tried everything you could think of to make them so. At least your searching and your willingness to share is helping other people, like me. *hugs*
been here Zooz but keeping head down at the mo
hi Kallia, not butting in, glad you are joining our chat! :)
now, when I 'm down in the dumps, it's situatioal and understandable. One of the key things I learned from all that therapy was "Is your reaction appropriate or not?"
Ditto on that, Sprite.
:)
it's catching that moment to say that Ruby and that isn't always possible
yep, very good question, ruby. Nothing wrong with feeling down when things are bad. I have such a question too, for myself: in stead of asking: "Is what I do good enough?" I ask: "Am I doing what is good for me?"
it took several years and several different therapists to reach that point: a behavior modificatio guy, a Freudian, a Gestalrt, etc
Still need 23 more words..but off to help parents with the lunch..Very nice talking to you all..hope to see you all again soon.Bye for now.
so true, Kallia. Sometimes we are already too far down the drain to realise it is happening again, before we think of asking such a question. It is as with it all, I guess... we can't do more than try our best.
{{zzoozz}}
that's CBT isn't it Ruby?
enjoy, zooz. You are a wonderful son. *hugs*
cbt??
bye Zooz lovely to see you xxx
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
cognitive behaviour therapy
snap
I am not familiar with that term; is it like behavior modication?
A favorite quote: One who shows signs of mental aberration is, inevitably, perhaps, but cruelly, shut off from familiar, thoughtless intercourse, partly excommunicated; his isolation is unwittingly proclaimed to him on every countenance by curiosity, indifference, aversion, or pity, and in so far as he is human enough to need free and equal communication and feel the lack of it, he suffers pain and loss of a kind and degree which others can only faintly imagine, and for the most part ignore. ~Charles Horton Cooley
yes it is
the problem with that is, that when problems are also with the hormones and the way the brain functions, we cannot reach deep enough cognitively. We can think we change stuff, but it is just a battle and waiting to slip back.
eactly, sprite, that's why I needed a combination
oh I agree wholeheartedly Sprite...it isn't (usually) enough on it's on
Cooley knew, from own experience, no doubt. That is so true.
I haven't heard that before oo, but it is so true
indeed, ruby, and then you were one of the lucky ones for whom medication made a difference, so you could benefit from CBT. I am also lucky that way. But some people are not. It is incredibly hard to find the right combination of medicines for each individual.
I can make superficial friendships easily...but once they need to move on I seem to back off....and they fade away
*hugs Kallia* and the hidden need for safety battles with the need for friendship and companionship... and you feel even worse?
indeed Sprite
{{kalia}} I am always her
been there... know that feeling. It stinks BIG time.
here*
:)
thank you Ruby
*grins* you are always her, ruby... always ruby... that sounds like mental health to me. I am sometimes... not sprite ;)
ic
an you aren't very far away, kalia
hahah, sprite
I know it does not make up for real life friendships and close relations, Kallia, but for what it is worth, I like you a lot and am glad when I see you in chog.
it's when you're not you that the trouble starts
I would get upset when told to "just get over it." Now I know having more than an existence requires changes required to get over it.
aw Sprite that is so lovely x
omg, 'just get over it'. Yeah right. Hey you with that broken leg, just get over it and walk. And you there with that belly wound, get over it and stop bleeding.
sprite is lovely, both i body and soul
oh yes the 'get over it people' have no idea how hurtful them even saying that is...as if we wouldn't if we could!
aw thanks ruby, what a sweet thing to say :)
Ruby is lovely too methinks :)
touched and blushing,kalia
getting old is not for sissies!
and I think so too, o-o. To be able to make changes, there have to be a lot of requisites in place first. And finding which ones are essential and how to get them in place, that is a whole therapy in itself.
it isn't you are right...I refuse to do that!
I wish!
yes, ruby is a lively, lovely firebug :)
Inside, I still feel Young. And, in helping my husband, it forces me to do more than I would otherwise
Haz said that once, and I loved the way she put it: "Aging is not for the timid."
you will never be old, ruby. It just doesn't fit you :)
as they say act your shoe size not your age lol
My feet have actually gotten smaller as I grow old hahah
wow, 6 left, and just found the 8. Biggie blindness here.
lol, so you are acting younger and younger Ruby
“Without goals, and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set sail with no destination.†- Fitzhugh Dodson “First you write down your goal; your second job is to break down your goal into a series of steps, beginning with steps which are absurdly easy.†- Fitzhugh Dodson
shoe size is down to 36 1/2! I wish hahah
I've still got 43 left
I only have 64 left, hahah, but ho cares. It is nice to see my friends
ohhhh that last one is so important, o-o! To break it down to steps you can actually succeed in making. Absurdly easy indeed... for outsiders. But for oneself... still so hard.
I do that o-o, it does help to get me moving sometimes
same here. When I can't make myself get dressed, I start with getting socks and just putting them on my desk, ready to put on. If that isn't sad, I don't know what is... but it helps.
when I have dedlines for my art groups etc I sometimes just do backgrounds .....next day add something....etc
getting dressed is the hardest part of the day!
ah good idea!
There a days I cancel for lack of interest.
I know days like that.
nothing is sad Sprite, whatever helps
I try not to do that these days o-o....too many days wasted
but isn't always possible
“Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, "I will try again tomorrow.†Mary Anne Radmacher
Thanks for the chat :) See you soon, have to get some Lunchgoing.
if all I do is get bathed and dressed, that's a win!
bye Kallia, have a good one. *hugs*
I really like that quote :)
and if I can complete one task a day (aside from kitchen sh**), that's another win
You too
{{kalia}}
that is a kind of courage you are really good at, o-o. That silent one I mean.
indeed, ruby, that is a very good way of looking at it.
setting excessive goals is counterproductive
And in stumbles Soodle, whose life is just perfect!! no worries, no cares! I wish!! Hi all. :-)
that is one I learned too, ruby. And excessive can be small too, in the eyes of others.
{{soodles}} what a happy surprise!
hiya Soodle, welcome, just the way you are :)
soodle and I undertand perfect lives hahahah
fireflies. Pfui, tricky little gr4 today.
Congrats, sprite
((((Rubes)))) ((((Sprite)))) & even tho you probably don't want it, heres a hug for you ((((o-o)))))
thanks o-o *hug*
ok, dear friends, I am moving on to some chores for today. Thanks for the chat. It is so good to know I am not alone in my struggles. A big *hug* to you all.
{{sprite}}
Have a good day, Sprite. :-)
soodle: I heard fro John and aLL IS WELL IN THAT QUARTER. i'LLCAL YOU LATER, IF THAT'S ok
as usual, my typing is for sh***
I look forward to it, dear Rubes. 😄

There is a bunny sleeping under the couch now, making little whimpers as she has bunny dreams.
you wonder what they dream about - chasing the golden carrot :)

Eating large salads with carrots and a small piece of banana--that's what I give them twice daily and they go nuts, standing up on their hindfeet, when I deliiver the salads.
McGregor is nightmare

Scrabbler, I've been having great fun playing a PBS Nature show about hummingbirds and watching my cats watching the show. One is especially fond of it and is quite engaged in it.

Bye, Annie
we're having one heck of a winter storm here right now - howling winds and snow
Whoa, welki. We still have some snow here but it will melt by tomorrow.
no 'meltage' in sight here - will be hovering around 12F for a few days
I am ready to snowshoe and ski, if the weather would cooperate.
i'm losing my taste for winter. in preparation for spring, we've been going to the driving range (so maybe i can swing a club with a nanobit of finesse in the spring)
here, some of the driving ranges have heaters, so it's pretty comfy. but the idea of letting me swing a stick in the air --- haven't done anyone in fishing, so it should be okay :D
We're having a heat wave in Connecticut. in the 60's for the next 3 days
ok, what's the 8?

i believe in doing breakfast to the 9,s
We know that about you, crossy
not just a meal, but an event where we get together, take some family time and dawdle over and fully enjoy a full breakfast spread
I have decided that I do not like this grid. :-(
The chat is stellar, though :-)
We had our "to the 9's" breakfast yesterday... today it's porridge!! ( Snowing heavily outside right now, so appropriate! )
it's mean, sue
this grid is ar6/17 to the MAX!!

crossy, his CEA levels are up (this is a tumor antigen); they want to measure it once more to establish a trend but if it is up again it may mean the cancer is coming back. But we won't know for another month.
Indeed harp!
So sorry uusue, will step up prayers!
well,i wish you the best and a good result in a month.i get my tumour markers done next month as a precautionary measure
tumor
thanks, jill! hopefully it is nothing; there are other benign things (like infection) that can make it go up too, so they really don't start to worry until it goes up twice in a row
and thanks, crossy, I know you've been through this much more than we have!
All the best going out to Sue and Frank.
And crossy, of Course!!

30 left, time to take a break. It's snowing big time! I love it!
Yep!! I am ready for some snow...
I assume you have some?
Yep, snowing like crazy over here too
For those not in Montana, one can have differing weather within a few blocks...LOL
We saw Spamalot last night. What a hoot!
I've heard that. Probably should have chosen it over Return to Forbidden Planet. We actually were in Missoula yesterday, but home by dark.
Montana-where you might use a/c and the furnace in the same hour!
And play a round of golf then go skiing!
We thought about calling you but we got the last tickets available for the show.
Well...be that way! ;)
You could have ridden to Missoula with us and waited in the lobby while we went to the play. What fun!
How about a movie tonight?
also thought about seeing Bill Cosby...
What's showing?
Doug has to Lector 5:30 Mass, I have to sing at 9 tomorrow
Captain Phillips at 9:10?
that bat shit hint was very funny. TY
I LOVE the way my brain thinks sometimes, ruby!

oooh, maybe
we stayed up late last night so we're already in the habbit
Morning wolvie!
aa 6/27!!!.crossy hates technology sometimes.bought a beautiful flat sceen t.v for the bedroom, but it had no in built smart tech feature and since we wanted to stream netflix with it ,we had to choose the alternative of getting a blu-ray player to act as a wireless net host and stream the signal to the new tv. well,to make a long story short,we found out that this particular blu-ray unit has to be hard wired to a internet source as it has no built in antennae!!! aa 6/27!!!!...... there,i feel better now
now i just want to get a old tube radio and listen to music by the light of a kerosene lamp for a while till the tech madness eases:)
lol- ty crossy
We bought a Vizio internet able TV (wifi enabled)...
LOL crossy
did you have to use a bridge crossy?
or perhaps i may go outside, sit in the middle of the lawn, facing the mountain and rythmically bang two rocks together for a bit
Just watch out for dinasours....
we broke down and bought a samsung smart tv led last year- and we already had the wireless internet thru verizon, so i stream netflix and a bunch of other stuff- thankfully
commercial tv can be dreadful, lol
indeed, jilly our 51 incher out in the living room hass all the internal bells and whistle but not so the small unit in the br
lol crossy- i see we are in fine fettle today
the blue ray is going back, welki.i must have a wireless unit
jilly, have you seen the Dinovember site on FB?
our big unit is also a samsung smart tv,wolvie and we love it
Yah, our bedroom model just got switched from analog to a digital one last year.
No welki...will go check
i have a older 42 inch samsung lcd in the bedroom- but i have whole home dvr from directv, so i can watch stuff i record TG
i am saving 90 a month by not having cable tv,si i can play around a bit.as it is,the 51 incher is already half paid for in cable money savings
i have become a samsung convert. :D
posted a link on your page, jilly
too cute! wish my boys were still little... *sigh*
i know what you mean *sigh*
the 51 inch unit is also a basic computer.i can and do play babble on it on occasion
Well, gotta head out. Happy babbling everyone!!
tc,jilly
yeah- i see that capability but have not tried it :-)
we bought the 60 in- got a deal that included a samsung tablet with it. and now of course the voice control comes out, lol
what i do,wolvie is use a microsof kb,mouse combo as they run on just a single wireless usb sensor
man- this is a nasty little g4
it jacks right into the back of the tv and away you go
hmmm- ty crossy- that sounds reasonable. i am far from a computer wiz ;-)
it is so much easier than typing with the tv remote control, that drives me buggy'
amen on that!
stats for the lone i in the 4th row please?
last time i bought the microsoft kb mouse combo it was 25 dollars or so
ic5/16

I'm doing well. Was able to catch up on some much needed sleep this morning.Dog & I slept in until 11:00 this morning
what type of dog do you have min?
I got a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. Pics are in my profile
he's a cutie, looks very bright and alert
Thanks joso! He is the center of my being and I used to not like dogs. My dog is having a playd ate now with a puggle.

I've always liked cats and dogs, but didn't think they were worth the trouble to care for until recently

the funny thing was that they always liked me. I had a job fixing computers in peoples homes. within 10 minutes the cat who was to shy to be see was rubbing my leg, or the dog that didn't like strangers was getting his ears scratched by me.
Thanks rururocks! And I was trying hard not to spill the gr4 word. Guess I will have to get fireworks in the Penalty Box.
Sorry to interrupt the conversation, but I just am so excited...I just bought Christmas presents for my grandsons...for the first time! Have been so broke for so long. And, wow, I love buying toys!
oh poor mimi, can you bear sitting on them for a whole month
Hello there MimiCat!How are you doing? Isn't always better to give than to get? I LOVE giving presents! It so much fun!
back again -- our new fridge arrived and with it a hassle that I wouldn't wish on anyone! Hope it's the last fridge I ever need!
gifts burning a whole in mimi's pocket
The hard part will be not opening them and playing with them myself!
Hi cybernan! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log.
hi nan
The boys are only 2-1/2 and 1, but I can't wait to see them play with these. I haven't had a "real" Christmas in about 3 years.
can you imagine if fridges and stoves were as reliable as computers, lol
the one we just replaced was 22 years old, so didn't owe us anything and is still going strong as the overflow fridge out in the garage.
Appliances and computers especially are like "the little girl with the curl." Anyone remember that saying?
not really, sounds vaguely familier
"When she was good, she was very very good; but when she was bad, she was horrid." Mae West paraphrased the last part to "when I'm bad, I'm better."
yes, it comes back to me now.
Just to set the record straight...Mae West was WAY before my time...but I watch old movies!
the problem is when this house was built the standard door opening was 30" and all the new fridges measure at least 33" deep. We had to buy a 33" fridge to fill the old opening, so the doors had to come off before they could get it into the house. Before that we had to have the cupboard over the fridge raised 4" because all the 33" fridges are taller than they used to be. What this translates to is that there were $300 in charges over and above the cost of the fridge for delivery and space prep.
I wish I could charge such outrageous rates for the 1 and 1/2 hours it took my husband and I to get all the styrofoam, sticky tape, etc. off before we could use it!
bummer, nan....
Going to make dinner...bye all.
bye
We built a little book house and are now part of the growing Little Free Library network.
It's in our front garden. It's kind of cute.
