Ever since I bought the "Beast", I pop in to say hi to Mr Kap ever month or so. I played a bunch of pianos last visit, including a Model M (5'7"-ish) from the 1920s. Incredibly sweet sound, but clearly in need of beaucoup work. My tech doesn't like to do partial restorations. He'll revoice for about 2 grand, or totally restore which is 10 to 20 thou. Mine is 1975, and he says all original parts. Not perfect, but certainly good enough; he says it was well cared for. Since I only play half an hour a day, I don't think I'll be beating it up exactly.

pugs, it's all in the way it is cooked. i soak mine overnight, to remove as much of the salt as possible. then a long, slow cook with dry mustard powder, peppercorns, bay leaves, brown sugar and brown vinegar.

Hi Crossy. I skied 4.5 miles and I am exhausted. It was wonderful out there. And there was quite a crowd of folks skiing and snowshoeing today.

scrabbler, i just fond a local meetup group that had two learn to snowshoe sessions. I joined up today!
It's easy--you just walk. But use poles--good work out for arms and takes workload off back and legs.
did a tiny bit of snowshoeing today scrabby but it never rose above minus 18c and there is a wind chill warning of below minus 30c tonight so anm taking care

grannyr - the 'kac' thing made me smile, since I used to have to have a young lad tag along with me when I was in my early teens. He was the 4-year-old son of my parents' friends and I got fobbed off with him when they visited. He couldn't say 'Jackie' and so used to call me 'Kacky', much to the amusement of my peers. (I don't know if kack = 'sh*t' in USA, but it's another word for it here in UK.)

I just KNEW she thought they were going to saw the top of her head off and had to quickly reassure her that was NOT what was going to happen.

oh, and i bought don a sleeping/bed wedge. it holds his upper body up at a slight angle. seems to have worked well for us.
