Hi Liz, sorry I didnt see you come on
Holy cow. Just got in from walking the dog. It is WINDY out there! And cold, although nowhere near as cold as it is going to be on Monday and Tuesday.
Hi usue
-8 degrees F here this morning at 7 AM
Hi Pugs - I just said a general hallo to all and got on with the grid!
ca7
hi puglet :-)
Hi Sue - am very glad that the news about your son is good.
hi erda, liz, ru and anyone else I missed
right now it is 17F here but they are predicting -19F for Monday morning, and windy
thanks, liz! me too!!
hi dee
Shalom everyone. Just returned from a 3 week trip to Laos and Burma.
Wish I could send you all some of our warmth!

Hi ARB
hi ARB
Shalom ARB - sounds like an amazing trip.
sounds like fun, arb!
It was!
ARB how wonderful! Was it a business trip?
crashing here -- see you tomorrow :)
Sleep well Nan
No business, just pleasure. Been retired 15 years. Going to the far east is not so difficult from Israel. There are direct flights to Bangkok.

US citizens have trouble getting into Myannmar
Hello babbleworld. Just got back from hospital with mom. Way too low sodium, she is being admitted to correct and find out why.
oh no was hoping to hear she was going home :( will put her in my prayers
Not really. They not issue visas with no problem. We went with an American group; they flew from US and we from Israel, met in Bangkok and then flew into Rangoon.
Hi Jilly - sorry your mum's not good - hope she makes a speedy recovery.
they do issue visas
Hi Jilli- hope she gets better
sounds like she needs someone with a salty personality
ap 6
Nbt but my Internet just went down. Frank says it is telling us to go to bed.
That would be me ruru.
hope they find the cause, jilly
Sleep well Sue
Good luck to you and your mom, Jill!

I am more than concerned, she really has gone down hill in the last month. I think she might be tired of living. She is dealing with so much arthritis, back degeneration plus the bllindness from macular degenaration and hearing loss.
going to dive in grid to relax
That's a lot to cope with :(
hi all
*lights lavender candle for jilly*

thanks everyone.. this grid flows nicely
gee, too bad it won't take 'mofo' ;)
you are getting almost as fast as mitch :)
lol jb
thought you might like that
:) jbp
mitch would have finish in 6 minutes :D
late hello.
I made stock from scratch. cleanup was arduous.
Hi melon
I make stock all the time
hi melon -- join the late club.
the results are better melon.. it's worth the trouble
So much better than shop bought!
I agree liz
true. I used chicken necks, turkey bones. I deboned drumsticks, put the bones in the stock and saved the meat for the soup itself.
what is your favorite stock?
I only buy the store stuff if i'm lazy
Sounds yummy!
I make a great veal stock, and lamb stock.. beef, fish, and chicken
veal is my fave
I make stock too, when I have bones, and I freeze small portions. Then I have to figure out how to use it. Cooking (and shopping) for one isn't easy.
S on far right?
I agree jilli
Cook for about four hours with vegetables, saly, pepper, thyme, dill. Strain, discard all bones and vegetables, suck on the neck meat when no-one is looking. THEN I make soup from the stock, adding fresh vegetables and meat. I cook the noodles separately. It's an event.
i forget which one it is jb
sounds lovely
There's only two of us, jilli, tho my daughter is glad to take home my cooking for her and her hubby, so I often cook for four after all.
very nice of you, mel
especially sucking on the neck meat I bet
jbp, I think it's the pink eye plural
you are correct, and THANKS cray!
st5
Cooking for two is MUCH easier than for one. Everything in the stores is packaged for two or more.
ty cray
Oh Jilli, I find it so hard to to cook large amounts
g'day everyone.
you are right. Truth be told, when my son visits his dad, I'm inclined to live on protein bars, yogurt, fruit, and low-salt V-8 juice.
Hi Rose - good to see you.
g'day grannyrose!
Conjunctivitis isi in the grid?
and for nbt, which is as much as I can deal with right now... the lowest & furthest right O?
hey rose
hey ya liz. everything okay in your part of the country? been pretty cool down here.
not exactly, jj -- a pimple on the eyelid
Bloody hot here, Rose!
oo5=what it takes to get out of my chair. lots of oo***
Hi Joso - good to see you back online again!
hey jbp, joso. joso, your still with us? that's great. are you playing on your computer?
neither nachos nor potato is in the grid, in case you were wondering
LOL, that should have been with a ;)
lol, jbp, and neither is tomato.
jilly, you rock!
(and I can't believe oompa isn't working either)
yes, got my wireless computer fixed, will be a regular again, fixing it was an improbable ordeal
true Rose
Hi Jillibus and other newbies--was getting coffee
OKay, before I have to finish the grid, need stats for that last column s...driving me nuts!
awww, not good, the ordeal i mean. but marvellous to have you back.
plural eye zit, jilly

Thanks! *po4/8*
night jilly

ah, lucky break
nbs. bed.'nite [poof]
night melon

bought some good candles, thawed out the BBQ, were just getting skilled at the no power thing when the power came back
night mellon
amazing how quiet it is when power is off
son was using bbq in the garage
esp when it is off for the whole neighborhood
sorry, back. went out for a drink and discovered a bunch of carnations don has bought me, so i stayed to put them into a vase.
sounds like primitive camping Joso
yes, when power is off here due to snowfall, there is an eerie silence that is so beautiful
how sweet, rose
flosey, what sun does to your skin + bird's home
till your toes start to drop off, lol
thanks rose
we have 2 fireplaces so manage to keep the house reasonably warm
didnt we have that word yesterday or the day before
i tell you flosey, i keep looking at him, and saying...who are you, and what have you done with my husband?....lolol
lol rose, but isn't it lovely
hubby brought me some dark orange lillies today
yes, dear. but also sad to think what MIL must have been putting him through.
flosey, tiger lilies? i love lilies.
you sound like a pair of lucky ladies
yeah, we are, joso. at least i am. don is one in a million.
they had a different name - just went looking for it and guess it's long gone
I agree joso, he takes good care of me
have they got black spots on the orange?
no spots, a solid rich dark orange
Day lollies
not so tiger lillys
Lillies...
the other lily i adore is the oriental lily. very heavily perfumed white lily with streaks of burgundy
3 blooms on one stem
Lucky you, flosey.
sound beautiful flosey. do they have a scent?
Those are Day Lillies...floaty
yes jilli - you know
*giggle* even when you're not trying, ruru, you are funny.
love the new name ru
This auto correct is going to kill me
well turn it off, silly
missing one to6 - have the one from an old movie
floaty flowers are day lillies?
flosey, male pussy
not going to touch that
God, I hope not.,
NO, RURU, NO.....DO NOT SAY IT!!!!
What?

Hi ya Peach

Hi Peri. hows the flu
very nice, a cousin, his wife and their 5 week old baby visited
peri, oo5/16
I am doing much better. stillnot 100% yet. can't sleep which has been an ongoing issue for years
that was nice for you Joso--glad you had a good one
oods
thanks for asking pugs
can you breath yet, peri?
yes, rose
and taste most of my food
*hands peri a brick* drop this from a great height, dear.
why rose?
to knock you out, dear. you poor love.
how about you pug
mine was nice and quiet
oh
I am not seeing that oo word
did you get to see your nephew over the holidays?
peri I have oo 5
okay, it fell a little flat. sorry. i guess i was being insensitive to your insomnia....but i suffer from it too.
no--not in person but did get to see him over the computer
like when u are moving something heavy u put some oo in it
it was not very nice rose but apology accepted
get him anything?
peri, oo + Miles Per Hour
got the oo ty both
oo5, the sound checked hockey players make
I did,, he loves those video games and since I dont know what he does and dont have I sent him fifty and a few small gifts
going back to bed, bye
night Peri
I think xmas is best viewed through kids eyes, hope he enjoyed
rest well peri
peri, i sometimes wish someone would hit me with a brick...i think that is the only way i am ever going to get a full night's sleep. i have tried all the natural remedies, and absolutely refuse to go onto prescription drugs. i do know and understand how desperate you can get, for a full night's sleep.
can I have a clue pls for 2nd colimn bottom a any of the 3 ty
I hope so too---I havent spoken to him for awhile
pink, abbreviation for ammunition, and it's plural
and af5, a + what is on the end of your leg
ty gr
is the insomnia just since the operation rose?
no joso, have had it for over 30 years.
hence, my aversion to prescription drugs. have tried the wretched stuff. all it does is make me slow the next morning. can't be like that in my job.
brb, going to find out what don is doing...can hear bumps and bangs, and grunts.
yea, I've read that they have run tests and you sleep, but don't rest, hence I think only the gentle ones are worthwhile, that may give you a running start, but not dope you silly
Joso, I am really glad to see you back and well. We had no ideal what had happen to you and after a few days the worse pops into your head
it's nice to be missed pug, sorry i worried you
pugs, you are such a sincerely sweet and caring person - gotta love you kiddo
np now that we know you are okay
ahh thanks Flosey
okay, back. it appears he has been trying to retrieve his shoes from under the bed...and when he tried to stand, fell back onto his knees.
oww that had to hurt
not easy getting stuff from under a bid, rose
would have e-mailed an all is ok message from a borrowed comp but i kept thinking it was just going to be another day or two and then something delayed the fix again and again
i think he's okay...but he won't let me look...*sigh* what is it with this macho stuff?
**under a BED
not a bid
lol, it's sad flosey, but we knew what you meant. xoxox
frustrating, joso
frustrating joso.
macho stupid is a requirement from time to time, just live with it
lol, snap flosey.
lol rose
and finished! at last
pfft joso, not under my roof, except if it's man flu...then macho all you like.
WTG FLOSEY!!!!
nice Flosey!
thanks rose and pugs, was a nice grid today
going for a refill on coffee brb
why are people plotting to frustrate joso, this does not seem like a good sport to joso, if anyone is asking
congrats flosey
oohhh, joso? what's going on?
thanks joso - what do you mean, plotting to frustrate you? never
roflol, if you could only see the cheesy grin as don took out his old bike boots to dust them outside.
lol rose, can just picture it
like helmets, there are boots for specific occasions, they just haven't arisen lately.
I dont understand Joso
joso, come back to us, mate. please explain
Rose, do you and Don belong to a biker's club or did you at one time? Like the hells angels?
just a joke pug, based on rose and flo saying "frustrating joso" simultaneously
oh!
lol, pugs. yes we did. we belonged to an organisation which fought for the rights of motorcycles riders all over australia. we also laid the ground rules for the correct protective gear to wear while riding.
oh, good, joso. phew!!
ah, just read back, forgot I had said that - there was a comma after frustrating though
did you give that up Rose
so not exactly like the hells angels
lol, just can't picture Rose hooked up with the hells angels
I have some neighbors that were in a gang(much like them) they still have their colors but they are retired but if they ever need any help all they need to do is call
I think roses group had a smidge less drug transporting, pimping and murder than the hells angels
pugs, we left after a rather physical annual meeting in which an ex-member was present and assaulted don, and hurt me, when i went to don's defence. the ex-member has since been the subject of a legal case which forbade him from being anywhere near one of the meetings.
yeah, flosey and joso. we were into road laws etc.
what was the name of your gang or can you say
it was the MRAA, Motorcycle Rider's Association of Australia
we were, or rather are, a lobby group. the MRAA continues to function.
does that stand for Mrs Rose's avenging angels? lol
mo 4/8?
the group name i always liked is, MSfaBT; Mad Scientests for a Better Tomorrow
maybe, maybe...lol. pugs, you have a wicked sense of humour.
has it got outreaches now beyond Australia
hmmm, mo + **thagorus's theorem
not that i k now of pugs.
ty!
Nice to meet you Macc
np's macca
so you and don no longer have anything to do with it now
and that would be macca fix as in macdonald's fix?
you too Puglet!
hello maccafixx, nice to meet you, haven't seen you here before
well don has been made a life-long member. *shrug* not me...but he was heavily involved long before we were married.
No it's an 8o's band called the Fixx. I have been around quite a while and tend to come and go. A little time off has given me more time for Babble!
was he a charter member? What do you need to do to become one too
okay macca. will look forward to seeing you as you come and go
Please come as often as you can fixx
*frown* not sure pugs.
TY! As long as the grids are 300 or less. Don't have time in the day for the big ones! :(
I know when we started a horse club, us that started it became lifetime members
dinner ready...and for the inquisitive pugs...tonight it's macaroni cheese.
oh, a fav. of mine, rose
Is the fixx band a headbanger type group Fixx?
make that macca roni & cheese :)
cul8r
is that with chicken too Rose--lol
mmmmmm
enjoy and hurry back Rose
No the Fixx is more like Pink Floyd meets U2. They had several hits in the early 8o's and are still going .
Joso are you now living closer to the donut shop?
will have to check them out, Fixx
I must get to bed, playing bridge tomorrow afternoon, goodnight all, see you tomorrow night
Whoopee John rules
Nite flosey!
good night Flosey and I hope you win big too :)
Morning Mr OO
nite flosey
will try pugs
Okay OO, what is this picture and what was the one before?
a complement to the profile quote
It is a dude that forgot to trim its toenails
ahh, when I looked before there were not any quotes
I see you pismire is in the grid again and see I remembered the word--lol
the emmet too
I'm off to bed, g'nite folks
true, but for whatever reason the word pismire stands out more
Night Joso
has it warmed up enough yet for the shorts OO
yep. now, if the hammock would only settle down and quit catapulting me into the snow ..
why not just enjoy the catapulting? Just pretend its a ride like at the fair
the neighbors are complaining I am ruining their pristine view
LOL
I cant see why they wouldnt enjoy a young man outdoors in his hammock in his shorts catapulting out in the yard
Perhaps, they did not get what they wanted for Christmas and are being crabby?
Of course, I am never crabby ... except all the time ...
that might be their problem -- lol
I had hoped for a larger grid.
think of yourself as a crabapple tree...the fruit might be sour but the sight of it flowered out is beautiful
Only the delusional would believe that.
A nice sentiment, nevertheless
hi again clue for lone s 5th column please
I doubt any size would please you for you would find all the words just as quick as one of ten words---look right now, you are done and I still need 63
o-o keeping warm I hope
welcome back Pink
ty pug
a plural, pink. st 5/14
Hi again
hi liz
Hi again Liz
looking oo ty
Good to see joso back :)
Hello everyone
Pink if Iam on the right s word I think its to do with the eye
Hi lyn
hi there lynxx
Hi Lyn
pug ty
Liz, did you see the new puzzle Sprite put on yet
yw
No - what did she create this time?
coffee cups
its pretty neat
I'll look later tonight. Using iPad now.
Sounds good though.
I havent started it yet but Iam looking foreward to it
I put one on their with the pieces numbered ... sort of a paint-by-numbers thing
there
Lol!
does anyone have the stats for the top e--I dont have a one yet
volcano
Et4 - the volcano
es5/12 x 2
cant wait to work it OO---hope its not too hard
also et4/6
hi Rose
et 4 a sketch
theres 2 ets
and back with tummy full of macaroni cheese..
hey lyn. how are you, hun?
and o-o is here too. good eve mate
Hello
are you keeping warm o-o?
You could of shared Rose
pug I was thinking that very thing lol
nope, pugs, nose in bowl, only room for one, lolol
I am quite toasty
good morning all :)
this grid has a lot of words that end in y
good, o-o. not a good thought a chilled o-o.
morning Sprite
Hail Hail The Gangs All Here! HI and hugs Sprite
and sprite. {{hugs}}
Hi sprite - hugs
hi lyn :) xxx hi pugs and rose and Liz and o-o *hugs*
Hello, sprite, yoy
Sprite, you missed Joso being back
aw too bad! But very glad he is back. That is early... he said not before 7th.
his computer is fixed now and hes back in order
am so happy, for him and for us :)
How are you today
okayish. Very bad night (nightmares). But otherwise fine. And you, pug? Am so glad the second trip yesterday went ok.
I okay too---am pulling up the boots and moving onward
so I guess you didnt get much rest then--hugs
you gooooo, girl :D
Almost time for dinner. I'll be back in a couple of hours. Hugs to all
bye Liz, enjoy your dinner!
enjoy Liz and hugs back
enjoy, liz.
and you, rose? How are you doing?
and o-o? Warm enough in the hammock?
and how about you, lyn? Surviving the heat?
I think everyone has went to sleep or something
I hope I didn't kill the chat
OO, may be busy---he was out being thrown out of the hammock in his shorts and the neighbors were grumping about it--lol
lol! Silly neighbours. In stead they should enjoy the sight.
Rose and Don were going through their biking stuff and god only knows what else and as for Lyn, I dont know
will go to town today with my love, buying new shoes to go with the new soles.
thats what I said too--lol
nachtmerrie
dress shoes or casual shoes
:)
Look up nightmare at Dictionary.com late 13c., "an evil female spirit afflicting sleepers with a feeling of suffocation," compounded from night + mare (3) "goblin that causes nightmares, incubus." Meaning shifted mid-16c. from the incubus to the suffocating sensation it causes. Sense of "any bad dream" first recorded 1829; that of "very distressing experience" is from 1831. Cognate with Middle Dutch nachtmare, German Nachtmahr.
hey, interesting, I didn't know that. So that is where the 'mare' thing comes from. Dutch is 'nachtmerrie' which literally means 'female night horse'
*giggle* his shoes are done...mine however will take some time...they don't call me esmeralda marcos for nothing.
thats very interesting OO
good for you, rose :)
does it picture the female spirit OO
or female horse of the night, is maybe a better literal translation
maybe you should just get new ones Rose
no
is that what you feel Sprite in your dreams
lol, it is certainly evil!
how intricate, o-o.
ooohhh, pugs...don't let don hear/see you say that...
Don for sure doesn't feel Sprite in his dreams...
well how old are those Rose? Its a new year and a time for new gear
he better not!!! not when i am within hand's reach...hmmph
do you feel suficated Sprite in your dreams
exactly :)
sometimes, pug. Mostly just scared or very depressed.
but all kidding aside, I am with pug, rose. Go get new ones.
When I have nightmares, I put lots of pepper on the carrots.
whats that suppose to do? Ward off evil spirits
pugs, some are very comfortable, and those i have no compunction to throw out...others...grrr...they're mine!!!
that is smart. *places huge pepper mill on bedside table*
thats sounds like a hoarder Rose
the comfortable ones are worn out, and not at they're best.
no, mares like carrots but not a lot of pepper on them
well you can still keep the old ones and have them bronzed and still get new ones
one pair i bought with my friend robyn. she died some years back. it is one of the few links i have with her.
ok, that pair has got to stay. Throw out the rest and still buy new ones.
lolol, sprite and pugs...you have a naughty influence on me. poor don is rolling his eyes.
birds of a feather, rose ;) And tell Don not to roll his eyes at me, thank you! Punishable by very early bedtime here in da house.
he can feel his wallet getting thinner and thinner.
If you are planning on biking then get NEW boots(ones that will go with the ted hose) save the ones you want to look up on
early bedtime ALONE I should add
yeah well, please tell him slimming has to start somewhere
less strain on his back then--lol
lol
omg, pugs....and sprite....i think i had better give him his inhaler...he's starting to go blue....not really.
poor don, lol. All those females ganging up on him.
ah hah! thats what made him fall forward while ago---all that weight in the back pocket
hahahah
side note: no chance in hell that this grid harbours any 7s.
and loving it, sprite...the grin is a mile wide.
OO, you have that problem too? too much weight in the back pocket--lol
a man with a great sense of humour is priceless, rose :D
that might be why the hammock keeps throwing you out
Nah, when not getting catapulted from the hammock, I fall backwards
am ready to catch you when you fall, o-o
I have had the same billfold for forty years .. never have to use it
must be really good leather!
is that because of only having small change or because of ordering everything online?
in pristine condition
could be one or the other or neither
small change is turning my t-shirt inside out
lol :)
defenestration may have a place in this convo
new word for the babble dictionary: st4 + tan meaning sunscreen
*giggles* Oh what a lovely word, o-o! Didn't know it.
I dont know it either
OO's word that is
it means the act of throwing someone out of a window, pug :)
I could see doing that to someone. but my windows are too close to the grouond
roflollllll!
did you have someone in mind OO
sprite you never did answer my question about your shoes I dont think--are you getting dressed shoes or casuals or biker boots
oh, dear...falling asleep inmy chair. xoxox to you all. see you tomorrow.
brb need more coffee
night dear Rose
oh, sorry pug, must have missed it. Don't know yet. Will see what they have in the shop which fits both my feet and the soles.
night rose, sleep well, dear one. *hugs*
is this to help with the swelling
I wore my shoe boots yesterday and let me just say they are not made for walking in stores--lol
I meant snow boots
no, I have the soles because without them, I walk like a duck.
hehehe no, they are bootie kicking boots
waddling is cute and I bet hubby likes waddling too since it inhances certain movements of the torso
lol. Nah, it isn't graceful. And it is very unstable, which is the main reason I need them. Without them, I have to walk with a stick. With the soles I can walk without a ca4.
well certainly dont want you falling
so, you are abel without a cain
lolol o-o! Too true.
thanks pug :) No, falling is bad. Made a fall last year and had it bothering me for months after.
I use a stick when walking in the woods or creek--makes me feel like daniel boone or a explorer--lol
worst of walking with a ca4 is that you never have your hands free
I hate falling and hate it double when its done in front of someone and not counting the pain too
sky hooks are a boon
yep. Guess they forgot to install them in the dutch sky
here they have came out with one that will free stand--seen it on tv
cane that is
lol pug... with a tripod?
it must have
I ask a friend to take the cane and then hang onto his shoulder
what gets me is these walkers with wheels---what happens while going down hill?
I have added a leather band that I can dangle the cane from it on my wrist. But it is still irritating the heck out of me.
nice OO that you got such a friend
oh o-o! :D
no problem, pug, they just go very fast then :)
can practice doing wheelies
LOL Sprite
do you really use a walker or cane OO
Iam not meaning to poke fun at someone
poking fun is easy with a ca4.
sprite do you have a pretty cane? I have seen some nice printed ones on the market
I use walking poles ... a sedentary life makes for poor balance ... the poles tone the upper torso too
thats a good one Sprite--something I would expect from Ruru
I have one all black. Very boring. Have asked my love to make me a beautiful wooden one but he hasn't gotten around to it.
like ski poles?
ruru is a good punner
sort of
as in Nordic walking maybe
well Sprite dress it up! As smart as you are at crafts you could use colored tape or ribbons or paint
North Dakota walking
it is worth a try, pug. Should find paint fit for polished metal.
:D good one, o-o
have hub put a GPS on it too
what does sedentary mean
oh, great idea. That way he can always find me.
sitting down most of the time, pug
are you in a wheelchair OO
no, I am in my sweats
somehow that brought an image to my mind of someone naked in a wheelchair
lol Sprite and why is that
dunno... I have this quirky brain with a mind of its own
Is hubby getting new shoes too
no, he doesn't need any yet.
no, wheelchair, pugs .... just must always be aware that my balance has atrophied
sorry about the balance, o-o, but glad you can move on your own two legs.
well I hope you are careful going out and not falling in those bad temps and no one finding you burried in the snow
do you have someone that checks in on you now and then
getting catapulted around is not helpful
only when the rent check is due
well stay out of that darn hammock then--lol
the flight is fun ... the sudden stop no so
or remove the sticks at the foot and head end so that the hammock closes over you when you are in it
thats not good OO and its sad too that no one cares to see you are okay now and then
Well, maybe it is my Unwelcome mat?
was thinking the same thing... love your sense of humour, o-o. But I really wish you had more friendly people around you.
I have lived alone and likely will die alone
oh I agree! People say humans can't fly. Sure we can fly. We can't land too well though.
the computer is nice to talk and reach out but when the lines are messed up you dont know whats going on
Like I ever did.
we have this dutch quote, o-o, that goes something like this in translation: "It's been a long time since we last saw you. In future, let's keep it that way." Would go nicely with your doormat.
as long as you got internet and can peck at the keys and we are still alive you wont be alone
Come again when you don't have so long to stay.
unless that is your wish to (whats the word) defene????? us
lol, yes, that is it
*gives o-o a hug* Well you have us to keep you company when you choose so, at least.
I seek oblivion .. complete, total extirpation of any residual of my pathetic existence.
HUGS OO
yours is no worse then mine
your existence has meaning though, o-o. To me and many others, for sure.
I know I enjoy your existence. and very much so
My highlight of the day is here with you and Sprite
that is such a sweet thing to say, pug. But I wish you had better ones in real life.
Sprite Ive been meaning to ask you is your guys money the same as ours
both of you
I am way better now ... my Mom would tell me I scared her. I tried to get better
and is Rose's if you know that
no sweetie. We have the euro, you have the american dollar and rose has the australian dollar
OO, you are as God made you along with life too---a friend excepts a friend as is and thats what I do or try to do with my friends
I have the feeling you are always trying to get better, o-o. One of the things I admire in you. You just don't give up and don't give in.
is that paper money Sprite
both paper and coins
OO, maybe you are better than you think.
pug, see here: http://tinyurl.com/o2qyn8x
I will have to explore that Sprite to educate myself on that
thanks
money in all the different countries is interesting. Sometimes so ugly and sometimes so pretty. We used to have the most beautiful money of the world, when we still had the gulden. The euro isn't as pretty.
is this site about world money or just yours
I may only think as well as my mind allows ... I bear in mind Descartes ... The seeker after truth must, once in the course of his life, doubt everything, as far as is possible.
oh, that was just a picture of the euro money, pug
OO, Iam sorry if I said something out of the way, I would hate to hurt you or lose your friendship
You did not .. not to worry
"nothing is entirely true. Not even this."
thank you OO
I feel like that towards the Bible(maybe I shouldnt) but I feel we dont have the whole truth due to man fooling with it
I relie more on what He puts inside me than what is in that book
the difference between true and truth is great ... and as long as people are the arbiters ... there likely will be controversy
the bible is a rather random collection of things written by man, translated in a way that had to please the church, and now explained by people. I am right with you, pug, I trust what He tells me, not what is written.
Is your bible pretty much like ours
I think we people can only see part of any truth. Never the whole picture.
I don't know. Never had them side by side. There are so many different translations.
the 34,000 christian denominations attest to the true path and the absolute truth
they want it to fit into their lives
which is what OO
lol indeed. And so do the muslims. And most other religions. And sects. I think as soon as someone claims to know THE truth and THE only true way, I don't want any part of it.
they cannot agree ... or there would not be so many denominations
like one of my sister's that was married and got involved with a married man and came crying to me God wasent answering her prayers and how can he when what both were doing was wrong---she couldnt understand this
like God is some kind of vending machine. How silly. He always answer our prayers, but not the way we would expect or want it. But if we listen in our hearts, there will be an answer.
Sprite how are things with Tim--you havent said much about it lately
things are going wonderfully well. We had one flare-up and he went away angry and went to his girlfriend. But he came back later and apologised, and we could talk it out very well. So that is really good. And his grades are way up. Not a single... what is that in english? A grade that is too low.
F is the grade here for that-------that all very good. Are you over being afraid of him noe
now
A* is very good going down A, b plus, B, C,D,eF etc.........back to lurking :-)
still a bit wary, but not afraid. The mother in me never was scared of him, just my inner child, so to speak.
dont like our company Zoom and hello there
hi zooz! *hugs* glad to see you, even in lurking mode!
we use the scale from 1 (lousy) to 10 (perfect). He has nothing lower than 6. Not even his languages.
at least you got peace more so in the home and thats good for you all on that acount---so is you group back on schedule monday
I have 1 left, a T6, and I cannot see it for the life of me. Could I please have a clue?
thats very good sprite
:-) Enjoy your company very much...but sometimes i prefer to listen than to wade in....some excellent chat going on in here..am just watching while i try and find some words in the grid :-)
yes, peace in the home, it makes all the difference. Yes, group will be back on Monday.
just remember that we love YOUR chat as well, zooz :)
with an f instead of a t, what is played under the table
I dont want you finding that Sprite---that means you will be leaving--:)
or a male feline
that was it. Always the compounds that do me in. Thank you o-o! Fireflies.
congrats!
aw, dear pug :) Yes my dear... laundry to do, potties to break, shoes to buy. *hugs* and lots of love and I will be with you in spirit, if not in chat.
bye o-o and zooz *hugs* I wish you all a blessed day and a peaceful night.
happy shoe shopping Sprite and hugs and all thats good
be well, sprite
Have a great day, Spritey :-)

Iam going to go back here in a bit and check it out more
A grisly tale
are you saying its something I dont need on in my mind
In Cold Blood is about a murder ...
is it based on a true story
Yes
Iam not sure what they call it but did you know that starring at the grid, the tiles pops out at you ---lol
would be that words did
that would really be nice if they only would

Hi kje
Hi Liz--enjoyed your dinner
some play fo 6/33 with their to 6/24 under the table
Yes thanks and then we watched "Jack Reacher" - an OK movie - maybe 5 out of 10 in my opinion!
Time to find a few more words, while the bedroom cools down!
o-o - that fire I told you about is still burning fiercely - could smell the smoke here today though it's about 50 km from here.
Not good ... need some rain
I need a clue for the f5/16 my last f word please
That'd be good but there's not much forecast.
Maybe on Tuesday or Wednesday.
a pl, pug
must make it hard breathing outdoors, dont it Liz
Incorrect plural of the limb at the end of your leg, pugs.
thats the one--got it and thanks guys
It's not that bad - it's just a vague smokey smell at the moment but we've now got our windows shut and are cooling the house with the a/c.
Hope your home stays safe Liz, please take care
Have the aquifers been replenished?
Thanks. There are no fires near us and the one I mentioned is on an island.
is there homes on it
Yes, our dams are full - we're quite lucky here because we're sub-tropical - usually get a lot of rain in the summer.
They're on alert to evacuate the town if needed.
is this fire in the same area as earlier in the year
No - it's nowhere near the fires that were around Sydney earlier in the year - about 890 km away.
We don't get too many fires around here - our winter is usually our dry season but this year there was quite a lot of rain in July (when we were away :) )
brb
Going to be an interesting day: Today: Partly sunny. Areas of blowing and drifting snow in the morning. Highs zero to 5 above. Temperature falling through the afternoon. Windy. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph. Wind chill readings 30 below to 35 below zero. Tonight: Partly cloudy. Lows 25 to 30 below. Northwest winds 10 to 20 mph. Lowest wind chill readings 50 below to 55 below zero after midnight.
I drink too much coffee--lol
Hi Liz...flood or fire - bad time of year
True - hottest I've known it here since moving to Aus.
Can't even imagine that o-o
yuck OO---yours is worse then ours--hope you stay out of that hammock
Me neither. Keep warm all of you over there.
This quote sticks in my head....“Australia has been known for more than a hundred years as a land of droughts and flooding rains, but what climate change means is Australia becomes a land of more droughts and worse flooding rains.’’
A good quote!
do you live near the ocean OO
Your dams are full now too, aren't they Lyn?
Yes thank goodness
North Dakota, pugs ... bordering Canada
do you guys live close to each others Liz and lyn
No - about 2 hours by plane.
...although we have all changed ours wasteful ways over those years of low rainfall and water restrictions
guess I need to study my map --huh
Lyn lives in the same city as Rose.
oh
I'm much more careful with water now than I was in England.
I was thinking you close to Michigan, sorry OO
winnipeg, saskatchewan is a couple hours away
ahh thats Where Billy Graham was, isnt it?
No idea.
OK - off to Jigidi for a while. 16 left for tomorrow. Enjoy the rest of the evening, Lyn and pugs and o-o, have a good day and keep warm and safe.

Annie, what big plans do you have today?
Silly kittens are all playing in the shower.
Teehee..playing with the shower curtains.
Bea, I think I am going to go to The Brooklyn Museum. They have letters there that Lorraine Hansberry wrote and Bobby loves the Egyptian Room. Theya also have a nice cafeteria. If not that, then on to Macy's for a another winter jacket for B. My daughter wants me to come up but it is colder up there. I have enough "cold".
The museum sounds wonderful.
It is a beautful place and it is near the Botanic Gardens which is awesome
I need a t6 to finish.

be safe, Annie
and now it is time for crossy's poem of the day!!
You always said it was better to burn out than fade away, like Jimi Hendrix and Bill Hicks. A rock star with no guitar, but now your in the Sky with Diamonds singing Glass Onion and Penny Lane with Lennon and Kurt Cobain. Come together, join in Janis, another verse Across the Universe or Let It Be Morrison that sings this song and one Day Tripper ill Come Along and open that door....... When Im Sixty Four. - Brett Flavell
And on that note, a fond farewell to Phil Everly, on to the big show at 74.
yes,read about Phil yesterday:((
Don't know if this has been mentioned. but the Bubble Boy's disputed word in Trivial Pursuit is in the grid mo4/6
thought it was moops
have to watch old Seinfeld episode again
It was, Crossy. The singular is in the puzzle...
Good morning all.

Hello out there!

:)
Hi kje
how is your saturday so far
very cold
temp up to 20f
yes.... lovely weather over there in the far east ; )
started at 2F, so quite balmy now.
Florida looking good, suddenly.
a friend posted a pic of her outside thermometer in bmore - 6 degrees. I think she opted not to run this morning
It's also snowy and slippery, so good idea.
We will all need to borrow snowshoes from Scrabs.
she is one of those tough mudders, so not sure the slippery would stop her - insanity!
crazy
I'm stuvk with 16 left
think I'll take a break
stuck....
you'll get them.
eventually!
yup.
Isn't running in sub-zero temperatures bad for your lungs?
Not sure, Molly.
Could be bad for your heart.
liking Molly's icon. :)
did someone say Florida? Our heat is on this morning!
Hi Aloy, I heard.
Half of my community is down there now.
hi hego, hi all.. no pity party here tho, the forecast looks better
I just hate to think of anyone spending the time and money to get out of the cold and then find themselves cold!
Well, they are a lot less cold.
true, and they can look at palm trees vs. ice covered branches
I have to admit, tho, the snow is gorgeous.
still white and pristine.
agree.. so lovely
Of course, I have not stuck a toe out the door.
And won't today either.
Truman Ca6 is in the grid!
:)
finally got an h.
think this is going to be a de-decorating day, indoor activity
Christmas with palm trees always seems strange to me.
we have hung bulbs on our cacti in the front yard but not on the palms
lol, you should post a picture.
skipped that this year bc of the winds
you'd be chasing them down the road.
lol, indeed.. or raking up lots of little shards
pretty friendly grid, 9 to go
missing the top e. hmm.....
lava flow
dang that volcano!!
lol, it gotcha.. it was hiding again
hides every day!
good morning everyone

Hiya River!

good morning friends.
nope still snowy.....she came over earlier to help me do the dump run.
hi Trif
Hi Trif!

:D
I know we have lots of tennis fangirls in babble,so todays crossy tidbit of the day is for you!!
At the 2000 Samsung Open, a furious Goran Ivanišević smashed three rackets and was forced to withdraw. Why? Because he didn’t have a fourth on hand.
Great gentleman of the game award!
Hi Crossy
howdy, hego
hi crossy
howdy, river:))
so, um, hey ..... today's my anniversary. whee. I am a little excited.
forgive me...
anniversary?

tc hego
Good day to all. Toddler greatnephew is taking a nap so we have a break. My sister, grandma, is here, and nephew (Dad) is sleeping.
howdy scrabby
Mornin' all. Was 1 below when I took the fluffs out this morning
Balmy 15F here today, after a low of minus 5 yesterday.
Hi Bichon. I am still chuckling over story from your husband.
It's going to get up in the 20's today, then the 40's for tomorrow and Mon.
30-33 here today and tomorrow
We have a lot of amusing stories, inscluding when his mom was visiting and saw him have a temper tantrum when he lost. A tile flew into the fireplace
*including
Haha. He doesn't like to lose!
It's so funny. When he plays outside of this house, he's just as sweet as can be when he loses.
So, it's you he cannot lose to.
That's it right there.
I have a friend that is very competitive with Scrabble. She gets very angry when she loses. It is no fund to play with her.
* fun
My husband is great with crossword puzzles. He does them competitively and does fairly well. But to lose to me, not so good
I love the NYT crossword puzzle. We get it on our Saturday newspaper--a highlight of my week.
He's been on televised game shows, no problem. But to lose to his wife, aargh
His ego is very competitive with yours!
I do it every day on line and he does it in the paper.
He just doesn't get why he would lose to me, I'm not nearly his equal with words, spelling, etc.
But if you use good strategy with your own knowledge you can still beat him.
And there is the luck of drawing good tiles.
Yes, that's it. I have a more devious mind than he does.
Drawing good tiles means one would have an "unfair" advantage. All the more reason to be a sore loser
We used to play board games with the kids years ago. I would win certain games because I thought more deviously
I am able to win against Aloy maybe 10-15% of our games. She makes so many bingos and knows many odd words.
My stategy was always to block the board so he couldn't make a bingo. No matter how good he was in anagramming, he couldn't make them
I still can't get the hang of the scrabble like game on QP. A victory is not coming in last
okay, I have to ask for a clue - ugh. I just cannot see the lone s in the right column....help please?
Hi Trif. Happy Anniversary with your special Valentine!
thanks scrabbler!
I can't see it either Trif. Great to be in love
I don't have that S word yet.
with the right man for once!
His character virtues sound outstanding!
Where did you meet Trif?
I often say, he is more than I would have thought to ask for....
The s word is st 5/14
Do you want a further clue?
Yes, please, Reader.
ah, that is the $64,000 question, bichon! he tells people we met at a restaurant. real answer is we met on line...but he says that sounds "sh*tty".....which always makes me laugh. it's better that I pick up strange men in restaurants?
It's a plural of an eye condition (from earlier)
BLESS YOU reader! nbt at long last
We met at a movie theater. I started up a conversation with the handsome man with the moustache
TY!
well done you bichon!
tyvm reader
yw
We went out for coffee afterwards. Neither of us are coffee drinkers. LOL
Someone else clued it earlier - I need it too
it took me AGES to agree to meet in person. I was just so done with the whole thing, and had rather given up. To be honest, I had gone online to cancel my dating account, and it said "before you go, how about this guy?"
*needed that is
Congrats Trif
And both of us decided to go to the movies that night, alone
Good for you, Trif. He lives nearby?
thanks reader. its a silly thing to celebrate, but its been such a long horrible road for me, and my blessed babble friends have been there for the haul
he lives about 25 minutes away.
Bichon, how old were you?
I really believe these things happen for a reason, bichon, but you HAVE to be open to them.
In those days, men called women. He wrote my number down on his newspaper. I was afraid he was just going to toss the paper
I was 23 years old
Trif, and you have three wonderful children
Were you both born in the US, bichon?
We met at the Waverly move theater in Greenwich Village
Five between us, bichon :)
Are his children around the age of yours Trif?
nope. his children are grown men. actually, our kids havent' met yet, but only because logistics prevent same. one of his lives out of state....
stats for the 4th column o, pls
Geez, and for me it is a big deal that I have talked to a guy 3 times now. I met him while cross-country skiing. Finally I introduced myself.
oo5, 16
But he's met yours Trif?
Good for you Scrabs
yes, I saw that scrabbler! get on it, girl!
ty Trif
oh, yes, loads of times. He spent Christmas and New Year's here with us. And I have met his....
oo 5/16
ty Reader
He skied up behind me on Tuesday and I just started talking, telling him my name, etc. He skied on ahead but we talked in the warming hut when we were done.
everyone gets along well enough. Funnily enough, the stickiest wicket is his oldest boy, who is almost 30. He is just not so okay with his folks not being married anymore.
Need a clue? It takes some effort :-)
It is tough to accept painful truths.
Sounds like a good beginning Scrabs
my most cautionary child is my youngest - she ADORES him, and I want to keep a wether eye on it....it's not only my heart at risk, you see
a sound, like thud, boom, etc
clearly you have at least one common interest, and equally active lifestyles, so that is good, scrabbler
I never got over my parents leaving CT and moving to Florida full time
When we first met I found out he cross-country skis, mountain bikes, kayaks, and I thought, wow! My activities too!
Did you get it, Reader?
You certainly would have a lack of things to talk about and do together
I can't get over that men don't call women any more
And we both like to read historical fiction.
I had it - was trying to clue it - thank you though
You certainly have progressed to besties.
Not yet, bichon, but it is a huge step for me to talk with a man.
you could text with him. That seems to be the way to go these days
Next step is to do something together--coffee, meet to ski--we'll see. He may have no interest anyway.
When my husband first called me, I was at home [of course] with a man I was seeing. That was awkward
Oh, yes, bichon.
morning all!
Hi Sue!
hi sue. Join the conversation. How did you meet Frank?
hi scrabs!
hello sue!
Frank and I met when we were in high school - we went to different schools, but my school was hosting the state cross country meet, and one of his friends was running. I'd volunteered to be one of the people showing the visiting teams the course. He started chatting me up and we dated through the rest of my senior year and into my freshman year of college. (More in the next message)
We actually got engaged back then, but drifted apart once we got to college - he was in Florida and I was in Massachusetts, and communication was difficult back then. (Part 3 follows :-)
Interesting story, Sue.
About six or seven years ago, he sent me an email, just to say hi and to apologize for how things had fallen apart back then (this was 38 years later); I wrote back and said I didn't think he had anything to apologize for. After several months of writing, and then talking on the phone, and then visiting, he moved here to be with me, and we've been together ever since (coming up on 6 years now).
So you met someone else, got married, had a sone and then years later met up with your beloved again.
toot
Yay, Sue!
sorry
I LOVE that sue!
Exactly, bichon!
Wow! great story sue. My heart is warmed by all of these stories.
so you see why I split it into parts :-)
mine too bichon....love reading these. but Im a useless romantic today...
This is all so right for a frigid winter morning
i am wondering what to wear already for dinner tonight....its negative temps outside, so I think I will go for "something provocative, yet flannel lined"
lol, trif!
Yes, Trif!
yes, the new england woman's dream lingerie - something sexy, with feet
The restaurant will be heated?
yes bichon, praise god
LL Bean--flannel-lined clothes.
secondo has been accepted at several colleges now, ALL of which are in very cold climes. We keep joking that all her graduation gifts will come from ll bean
I would love to be a student at UVM. Beuatiful campus and I love Burlington, Lake Champlain, nearby Stowe, etc.
Colder than Boston?
much. Vermont, Maine, New Hamphire, Syracuse
My mother went to Syracuse. Phi Beta Kappa 1953. She still reminisces about her college days there.
At least going from Boston to those places won't be a shock. I see so many students at Wesleyan going around in flip-flops and shorts in the coldest weather
saw on Facebook yesterday a list of the 21 coldest universities in the country
That is the adolescent brain, bichon.
Which school is closest, Trif?
right now she seems to be deciding between st michaels and uvm. st michaels gave her a BOATLOAD of scholarship money, so obvs I am gunning for there, but it's her decision, since she is the one that actually has to go, not me
And of course adolesence end at 28 now!
St Michael's is gorgeous too!
ha, bichon, we had a foreign exchange student from Malaysia here at NIU - we asked her how she dealt with the cold. Apparently her first US university was the University of North Dakota, and she arrived there in the middle of winter!
Bichon, what does your husband teach?
I think unh is closest, but so many kids from norwell go there that the joke is unh stands for university of norwell high
I don't know how these students from tropical climates do it here in the frigid north
oh that poor thing, uusue! thats just MEAN
Aha.
has a great reputation
she said people were always running after her with her coat
UVA that is
I think she is a bit deluded about UVM - we visited there on a GORGEOUS summer day, when the campus was green and lush and looking very shiny. I feel certain a visit in February or March would yield a differnt opinion....
and it takes an age to get there- thank god there is a bus that runs between there and boston!
4 of us spent 5 days in Burlington in Sept, kayaking and hiking, aboute! 7 yrs ago, and I fell in lov
burlington is a wonderful city
UVM and St michaels are the only two schools she applied to that offer her exact major of choice so I guess it really is a run off between the two
My parents made me live at home and commute to a City University in NYC
And 2 yrs ago, while in the Adirondacks, we took a ferry from Port Kent. NY to Burlington, for the day.
I went to a VERY out of state school, so commuting was not an option
it would have been about a 15 hour drive, whcih I did end up doing a few times. not so fun, really
To make things worse, the school was mostly women majoring in Early childhood education. Very few men
I have never left the Buffalo area. I lived at home for college and med school, and that saved us a ton of money. At one point me and my 2 sisters were in college at the same times, then we were all in med school, law school, and pharmacy school here too.
Six hours is my limit for driving. Longer than that makes me crazy.
My father went to a CUNY school and if it was good enough for him.
I agree scrabbler, if I am driving alone. the longest I ever did alone was 11 hours in one stretch, and it was brutal. I can do longer jaunts with shared driving, of course
We all went to SUNY at Buffalo. 10-15 min from home.
And I bet you got a great education Scrabs
I wanted to go to a SUNY school anywhere but NYC
Excellent school. Bargain price.
did you get a discount for having more than one family member at a time scrabbler? I know some schools do that
Not at that time.
im going to forage for fo4.....have a great day all
need to walk fluffs. bbl
27 to go. FInish now or later?
now!
And I am, K. I am glad you are feeling better!
thanks
You escaped from full-blown AGE.

I'm always amused by the "rules" people set up for themselves here. I've never understood the NBT/NBS thing.
i don't use it as a rule....just feel better when i get there....i am down to 23 and haven't listed yet....i have no rule about when to list...
Not so much a rule as a goal, for me anyway.
just got an invitation to go to dinner at a nice Asian restaurant, so I am happy... ;o)
Hi everybody. I'm just home from the funeral of a good friend. On NYE, he suffered a massive heart attack & died instantly. He was 57. AND, Son of Soodle is packing his stuff to return to the UK first thing in the morning. I'm indulging in a quiet weep.
My condolences, very sad.
sorry about your friend, Soodle...
So sorry about your friend, Soodle.
Snuffle..... Thanks, guys.... His poor wife is utterly shocked. He had been for a health check earrly December, & the doc declared that he was 'in rude good health'. Ya never know.....
On a more positive note, Son of Soodle thoroughly enjoyed his break at home, & I (of course) enjoyed having him around. And, he'll be home again in 3 weeks :-)
that's nice...
sorry about your friend, Soodle
not a "rule" molly" how odd. the NBT/NBS is a goal for one to obtain for a measure of satisfaction
something to shoot for as it were
Thanks Peri. And hi Crossy. :-)
howdy soodles:))
I am sorry about the loss of your friend, soodles
gotta go...bbl
I used "rule" because of Hego's comment at 2:01 about it "not being a rule" to get NBT/NBS.
ahh I see.
hey Molls, the worthless one stepped up to the plate yesterday and used the snowblower to clean the sidewalk!
and so it is indeed not a rule, so hego is quite correct
he also did some the driveway and part of the back. not near as good as I would have done. but the sidewalk looks great. our neighbor cleared a path in front of the door
I have been behaving. feeling better every day but still not 100% and going stir crazy
pa--
Glad to hear you got a break from snow removal, Peri. Hope you feel all better soon.
ty Molls

They do make booties for dogs, but I can't see how they would keep them on
I was just about to quit with 1 left. TO 6/24. I hit the x and as it blinked off, I saw the easy-peasy word that I'd been struggling with. I fired back up and finished. Winning has never been so sweet!

Has anybody seen Saving Mr Banks yet? I'm dying to see it, but terrified that it might spoil my very favourite movie- Mary Poppins. Sheesh.... Decisions, decisions.
Oh, see it. I'm sure you'll like it.
But, one thing. Who the heck is Mr Banks, anyway.
I've seen it, and would go again. It actually endears the Mary Poppins movie even more.
ty momo
Mr. Banks is the father in the Mary Poppins movie
yw
Oh! (smacks head)
Oh goody! Thanks Mom.
... and done ... all praise be to lickety ... any clues for anyone?
now soodle can go without anxiety.
Hi Dose. I'm good.
I've watched Mary Poppins so many times that I am absolutely word perfect on all the dialogue & lyrics. Dick Van Dyke ( or Penis Van Lesbian as I've heard him described) and Julie Andrews are wonderful. 😳
lolol. that took me a minute.
<---- there she goes! Lowering the tone again!
Julie is always wonderful.
Bourbon poured, just waiting for the news. We had a protest march today in Burlington. Brrrrrr...cold. Reasonable turnout for below zero temps. The local stations were there to cover it. We refuse to be ignored. I'm afraid we're headed toward civil disobedience out of frustration over this gas pipeline. Don't need it. Don't want it. No more fossil fuel infrastructure should be built in light of the environmental damages.
must go. Nite all.....
Nigh-nigh, hego
I'm going to go practice some breathing. See you all tomorrow.
gramma. I am in Rutland, didn't hear about the march.
