*waves*
Hi there, pug, etal.

Hi ya cos
heyya cos
hi cos
so will this then be the end of it
hi everyone!
Hi Pink
{{pink}} hello hun
hugs to pug and grannyrose
hugs back Pink
yes pugs...we are nearly there...i wish you could have seen her face when she walked into MIL's rooms...all she said was...holy crap...lolol...i don't think she realised just how much the old darling had accumulated.
well how are you dears doing
LOL--wish I could of seen her face
and then i told her...don and i have worked our way through 75% of it...she nearly fainted.
Iam fine Pink and you?
not bad at all ty
so how much did she take
granny u speaking of a sis inlaw?
a car boot full and her back seat...lolol...
yes, pink
and the ute tray is full ready for don to off-load into charity bins.
lol--that helps some---did she think a bag or two was all she was going to take
i think so, pugs...but i have to admit, she was great...just...yes/no/op shop. was very pleased at how fast she worked...idid have to keep prompting her...what about your sister, what about the grandkiddies...she was good about it all. btw...the infamous opal pendant...not there...guess the MIL lost it at some stage..
glad she was like that for you---that makes the process so much smoother for everyone
soooo,we have half a bedroom empty. tomorrow she has to make a decision about furniture, and about 6 boxes of odds and ends. then we are done.
so glad everything is moving so quickly and efficiently... that is such a huge help
and then just maybe you and don can move into the new room next week
brb
hello darling dee. yes it is great. and as pug says, hopefully we can move in next week. although i still have to have the curtains dry-cleaned. and wash the floors and walls.
dee??? how are you, sweetheart. are you weathering the ultra cold weather okay?
I am sure it will be great to "reclaim" that part of your house!
Hi again. Sounds like everything went so much more smoothly than expected. So pleased for you :)
my heart goes out to you and all whom the ultra cold weather effects so badly.
Back. Wandered off. Thats what I get for logging on as soon as I walk in the door.
Taking one day at a time. It was sunny and warmer today... lots of snow melted from high 30 temps over the weekend. I can't believe how fast it comes and how quickly it can thaw. I do hate these huge temp fluctuations.
{{liz}} thanx hun
yeah, i know, dee. it plays havoc with the FM.
cooee cos, lovely to see you, mate
lol... re-hi cos
hi dee and cos
Its only Monday and I've worked 18 hours already this week :(
wow, cos
How is everyone?
down to one d 6 listless... not seeing it
a lot yes dee but that is also a lot of overtime pay :)
that would be great, especially after holiday spending! Really glad for you!
well done Dee
ty flosey... not going to goof much longer with it... will resort to lickety LOL
Id be happier if I had the stats for the 2nd column E :)

ty
jilli, did you get a chance to listen to Jeremy?
flosey, I have it waiting for me to have a bit of time to do so. I gather he's a friend of yours? Or what?
yes, perhaps you don't remember his concert at Artspring? we had a bit of party after
Well, all, I am off til the flip. *poofing with hugs* Have a great eve / day!!
night Dee
Night, pug!
goodnight Dee, sweet sleep
Oh yes, I remember now -- he was wonderful -- I even saved a picture of him. I just want a nice space of time to listen to it.

good-night cos. hope you have a restful sleep, mate
hey flosey and jilli
hi rose!

thks re cos, flosey
yw
and rose
and obviously i did NOT get out into the garden to photograph my roses. so sorry people, i hope i can catch them next year.
Your mean 18 hours starting when?
A WHOLE YEAR? lol
are your roses over already, rose? What ind are they?
didn't ask, jilli, this week, could mean possibly Sunday?? no idea
*what kind...
i think accumulative over the last 2 days.
Worked yesterday and today. not off til sat.. will be a total of 50 this week when im done :( im off now for real. the grid hooked me back in. gn :)
oh whew, cos -- good for you! Nice how the money rolls in?
thanks cos, now for your well earned rest
jilli, we pruned the roses after their first summer blooming. watching to see what they do next.
wont see a dime of it til summer.. cause that will be our paychecks over summer. we are 9 month staff.. but its ok.. at least ill get paid over summer. all of it will be time and half pay so worth it !
sleep well
jilli,we have about 16 different roses.
nice cos....dream well, mate
Back again :)
Lucky you, rose -- I have one in the garden, a floribunda "Little Darling", and the rabbits got to it last spring.
Are you feeling more relaxed now, Rose, after today?
Hi liz
Rose had a busy day?
g'day liz. fang has finally left. my goodness that woman is hard work!!
Fang?
Hi Jilli :)
I realise that Fang is hard work, but it seems from what you wrote, that she wasn't uncooperative today.
lolol, poor jilli. my SIL's nickname is fang, for very obvious reasons. today she 'helped' clean out MIL's rooms.
yes, liz...today she was in a good mood...thank heavens...
aha, just got the ca8
mokeyed it
So pleased - so are you a step nearer now to being finally sorted?
WTG Flosey.
well done you, flosey
thanks Liz and Rose
yes, liz, so close i can 'smell' it
lol rose -- sounds like a great name for your "helpful" SIL!
Wow! The relief will be tremendous.
jilli, she absolutely gob-smacked by how much her 'mother' had accumulated.
And no arguments about jewellery?
nope, liz...the famed opal pendant is missing...too bad, so sad. looks like MIL lost it. the pendant i mean.
My family will be gobsmacked by all my accumulations too. Especially all my stuff about Great Danes which they don't care about but lots of others do. Unfortunately thhose who do are all over the world, not here.
That's sad, Rose but perhaps it'll turn up in some dark corner somewhere.
lolol, jilli. they will cope, never fear.
Perhaps, Jilli, you should put names to the Great Dane things - people whom you think will like them and appreciate them. Then put it in writing!
What's kept me busy today is FB chats with Dane people in Latvia, Ireland, Norway, India, the Philippines, Canada and the USA -- and maybe I've forgotten someone elsewhere like maybe Germany or Denmark.
could you donate it to the akc Jilli
not all that worried, liz. i think fang imagined it was here. don and i have never seen it. pretty sure she and jeanette threw it out a long time ago, when they cleaned out MIL's fridge. long before me.
You're probably right. As long as Fang doesn't think you've squirrelled it away somewhere.
AKC wouldn't care. Maybe the Gt Dane Club of America, to which I belong -- but who would get it all there? I'll figure something out.
well, don and i both went through all her knitted jumpers/sweaters and all her handbags. we found nothing.
Liz -- my Dane stuff isn't "things" -- it's files and files and files and books and books and books and pictures and pictures and pictures.
Sorry, Jilli. I didn't mean "things" in a negative way. I couldn't think of another way of expressing it.
Oh , and a woodcarving I did of the ideal Dane head, which is rather delicate.
Jilli, how long have you researched the breed?
fang says MIL told her it was in her jumper/sweater drawer. the only thing don and i found was a cheapo opal pendant on a silver chain...not a gold chain.
You've done your best then!
ooh I bet thats something to see Jilli--can you post it sometime
pug, I have a book published called The TimeTraveller: the development of the Great Dane, and it represents about 20 years of reaearch.
wow Jilli--you have put alot of time and interest in the breed. Congrats!
I'll post a pic of my Dane head asap -- stay tuned.
That's pretty awesome, Jilli - such a lot of work.
okay, cant wait, they have such a nobel head and their eyes!
I love my dane's eyes. Beulah has these deep orangey yellowish eyes. And she has such a kind way about her
great danes seem to be such a gentle dog.
I'm taking a break. Not seeing words. BBL - hugs to all :)
so, pugs...you have pugs and great danes...
they are---much like a lap dog in a huge body--lol
hugs liz, see you later
yes one of each plus a boxer-mix
bye Liz
well i have a large lap...would they fit, do you think?
she would sure try!
lolol
once in awhile she tries getting on my lap in the chair and it flips the chair forward--lol
you thinking on getting you one Rose
I always wished I had a dane but always had the littler ones
lol, pugs..my jonah would never let a chance pass..he would try to crawl on to my lap...at any expense...lol. God i miss him..
all three of my dogs are rescues
what breed was he Rose
Pink they like alot of running(or mine does)
don doesn't want another dog or cat...he says..there are so many starving in the world...how can we feed animals before humans?
i was concerned about the potential health problems is yours healthy pugs?
*smiling* jonah was a groendahl...a black belgian shepherd
I havent had any problems with them(knock on wood)
anyone have the 8 s yet

Yes it is an odd weather pattern
and you dont like RR, Ru

RR?
Ronald Reagan
No he didn't do much for me..
Did for Nancy.
Let her be President.
Arnold either...We've had our share of whacky governors
I liked his wife more so
I really felt sorry for her at his funeral.
Me too, pugs
I did too, Peach
I like the wife of the president we have now too
I think she is smarter than her husband.
My youngest daughter whould take great exception to that statement.
she just seems to be so classy and down to earth
would
Yeah, she's cool.
I think she appeals to the younger generation more so then the older ones
Probably so.
I think I will come back and finish this later in the day. Blessings, y'all.

Hello, pugs
good morning OO

brb--need some more coffee
Another day of blowing snow.
most of our snow has melted, but more is coming in but not as much as we had
you must have long winters there OO
goodmorning
{{little pugs}}
howdy Ruby
Ruby, did that poem get through to you that I sent yesterday
yes, but I haven't opened it yet, wanted to say "hello" first
I put the other one into my profile for any dog lovers
well I was just wondering if it did
aving it to saor it ater when I have more time
np---I had to send it through them and I wasent sure if it would make it to you
the internet remains a mysterious place for me lol
it does me too but through people like Sprite and OO I have picked up several things--like tinyurl and putting icons on and so on
I'm happy just to be able to send and receive stuff and to play this and lexulous
sprite just taught me last week how to send a picture through email--lol
I still havent mastered the photo thing
you mean like with a camera
I wind up with hundreds of duplicates,s totally disorganized photo files and no way of changing kthem. I need to devote a whole day to it, I think, but haven't an extra day!
I dont have a camera so all my pics comes off the computer
I have a onderful camera, but don't know how to use it very well. Many of the pix are blurry
maybe you can find someone near you to help you
I have no knowledge of any part of that yet, so you are one up on me
every now and then I take a great photo of the dogs or garden, but then can rarely find it
believe it or not the go6 word is a condition that still exists here in the country. The people don't use iodized salt!
I bet Sprite could wiz you right through it all
ooh, 56 words and nbt
etia
nice job Ruby
Another small, easy grid
easy for you to say OO cause you have a high IQ
easy for you, oo, diffult for me!
no. perserverence
yesterday it was on and off all day to get that fw and that was only helped by you OO
or even difficult*
just have to find the next word until there are no more next words
I lke the beginning of it and saying hello and seeing friends, but then the day takes over and yesterday was particularly busy
I nap a lot and it is exhausting
same here, I look more forward to my friends here and chatting
doing nothing does make one tired---you dont seem to sleep much OO
ditto, pugs
I only sleep when I am not awake
ceta
change the last vowel, ruby
ty oo
whoot ruby and o--o....and pugs....
welcome back Rose
{{rosie}}
I've hardly seen you for days!
now you got a full tummy and you'll be off to bed soon
{{hugs}} my darling ruby...and belie\ve it or not...{{o-o} you are both so important to me.
I dozed off on the keyboard and found six words
we are going to have snow wed, thurs, fri and sat.
how lucky you are OO--lol
lolol, o-o...of course you did. ruby....i am faring quite well. how are you and mr ruby?
uh oh, I have to go and take care of the old boy
winds of 50 mph+ are forecasted for later this week

bye then Ruby--take care
*woof*
o-o...hang onto your hat, mate...
no, in the word list
I do not get too excited .... christmas is just around the corner again
bite your tounge OO--Iam glad all thats over with
oyez...o-o shut your moluth...
Whoa, such hostility on such a fine blizzardy day
lol and smiling at you, mate. just your choice of words..
not meaning no harm to you, yourself but Iam hunkering for spring! Green grass and flowers and so on
Rose, does your country have easter egg hunts there for the kids
o-o...would you like some of our degrees...it is sooo warm here.
I dont know how you can stand that heat Rose
Nah, cold does little to the cold-hearted.
yup, pugs. it is so lovely to watch the little ones trying to find the eggs.
oh dear...what about you, dear?? some warm cuddles for you??
and just who put that label on you OO?
not no 104!
i so like o-o...you are an amazing person, mate.
my favorite temps are the 70's
do you color them yourself Rose? I like doing that
oh, well. there are people on this site who can't stand the sight of me... i guess that's their loss...from what i see from the rest of you.
I havent heard any negitive about you on here
pugs, myh greek SIL, wife of my brother, she has taught us all.
I have ran into someone that wont ever speak to me and I dont know why---I havent ever been rude to anyone that Iam aware of
pugs...they are so under-hand. they email me...and don't let the rest of you know.
thats sad Rose, and it must make you feel bad too
never mind, my darling. you are first rate with me..
it bothers me someone dont like me for no reason but nothing I can do but go on
nah...pugs...i have moved so far ahead of them. i cherish you and sprite and jilli and o-o and flosey and liz and lin...omg...i could go on forever.
I know, its hard to work the grid saying hi to everyone, but I dont mind--this is about all the talking I do
and I do too you
xoxoxo p;ugs
and Where is our Sprite this morning?
o-o?? xoxox to you also, mate. never doubt...
Is fang taking most of the furniture from MIL's room
ah ha got 100 words just 45 to go
no such luck, pugs. we will have to call st vincent de paul...or the salvation army...
do they come there and pick it up
they come here to pick up....don is so laid back....i just want the furniture to be picked up...bags of clothes etc can be put into the local bins...
thats good for you--I have never heard of them doing that here

Liz, I worked your bird puzzle---do you have those there where you are
No OO
I have ch5-14
Yes, Pugs. That was in our garden - our bird feeder. We put seed out and we also have a water feature that attracts the birds. The lorikeets and cockatoos are quite common here but I still find them very exotic!
South American rebel ch* guevara + movie **n* With The Wind
they are beautiful
I love them. Some of the cockatoos feed direct from the container when we hold it and at the local wildlife reserve, the lorikeets will hand feed.
got it OO, ty

Over a century ago, Scottish professor Walter Alexander Raleigh insisted that "there are no synonyms, and the same statement can never be repeated in a changed form of words." Most contemporary linguists would subscribe to his explanation: Every strange word that makes its way into a language spins for itself a web of usage and circumstance, relating itself from whatsoever centre to fresh points in the circumference. No two words ever coincide throughout their whole extent. ("Synonyms and Variety of Expression" in Style, 1897)
anybody know how things turned out for Dorens yesterday? she had fallen and when I saw her last on the chat was waiting a few hours until she could get her nose set and stiches

I said boo! to a scarecrow and it has not been seen since.
apropos final Jeopardy last week - the largest country entirely south of the equator with a female president - a formal first lady from that country makes the grid
ur + former name of tokyo
hi phand; to you have the ur4 to finish this grid?
I have the ur** to give you clues.. but don't know..
I do, thanks, Aloy and Cosmo!
ty for all the clues in the chog

how is everyone this fined damp morning?
hi there ruby
some are very funny, as are their words
hi alloy!
pretty good for a tuesday, phand.. how about you?
pretty good. at the moment I am procrastinating getting ready for a meeting I have tomorrow.
I am nervous about it...
ooh, wishing you luck and a good outcome, phand
h
Thanks, Aloy.
although, I must confess, I am not really sure what a good outcome will look like...
te + utilities often are subject to *e*ul*tion
and that is exactly why you are nervous
yes, I believe you are right.
and why I need to prepare!
yup, I ag5
hah, didn't see that, ty aloy
do you visualize? that always helped me
last such meeting I had, I forcefully put forth my position and was put on the disruptive behavior list.
So, I guess I better stop procrastinating, huh?
o-o I think that would happen to me, except I no longer have the job so...
Aloy, no, I don't generally visualize, not sure what I would visualize at this point though...
I am surprised enable has EV as a word and not email!
morning all
hi peri
Morning, Peri
Perhaps it had something to do with stating the best thing they do is nothing ... when they do do something it only makes matters worse.
Aloy, I caught part of a post yesterday re cabbage soup. where did you find the recipe?
I thought ev was only French
evite - to avoid; shun.
I guess that might have some truth behind it, O-O
a lady at the organic farm we visit gave it to hubs; she was fixing it as the featured recipe of the week
ok
of course I am shy and reserved
Glo, that explains that then!
hi Glofkill.. ty for the def., didn't know
clearly, o-o
same as in Fr
can type it up and send it if you'd like, peri
yes pls. Aloy.
isn't agita a word? what we get when the grids are too hard (maybe not you) lol
aloy, can you send the recipe to me too---astern@aol.com
my printer still is not working :(
going to have some for b-fast in a bit.. ok, peri, will do.. it is delicious!
sure, Annie.. happy to do so
In 21st century English we see the -evit- in inevitable. The word comes from Latin evitare throgh French...I'm a bit of a language nerd
thanks, aloy
{{annie}} hello and bye
(((ruby)) hello and bye atch
atcha
agita is a word for an upset stomach I thought, ruby
agita is for aggravation and extreme annoyance
which can result in a stomachac4
I spy the marine worm te6, haven't seen it in a while
thought it was a abbr portmanteau for agricultural italics
I don't see the worm
te6/21?
yes you **, peri (that was the end)
I have that one, a mollusk
thought it was the worm that is eating our pilings
scrabble dictionary says bivalve mollusk
ok, ty

ok. I have gone through the clues and have 37 left. Will depart and prepare... HAGD all
stay cool, phand
same to you, phand!
Thanks!

Michel Jarraud is Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization, the WMO. He says records show the Earth is warmer now than it was 10 years ago. “This decade, the last decade was the warmest decade on record and what we call cold years now are actually warmer than any warm year before ’98.†He also says levels of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases reached new highs in 2012. Greenhouse gases trap heat in the atmosphere. He believes that, as more heat gets trapped, temperatures on Earth’s surface will continue rising.
45 left. time for a nap. rained out of tennis.
well, I must scoot, 6 left for later.. ty for all the great clues.. poof
oo. do I look up WHO for that quote? I need it for my volume 4 which will be listing how we are killing ourselves. The planet of course will go on orbiting without us.
mean wmo.
Hi RB
hi scrab. sorry your snow is going. we have spring here (again) it comes and goes. My last poem in the Ill Times was thanking my (dead) daughter for all her minnesota clothes. The new years poem was good nes--we can't destroy the planet--just us and a whole lot of species. Cheerful. But this week's will be funny.
Winter will resume tomorrow. We need fresh snow. However, I was a housecleaning machine over the weekend and attacked 2 bedrooms.
scrabs you are one of the ones I watch--(in bits, I do work all day and night!) interested in your synesthesia, I think you were the one, you and Haz see words.
Yes, and I have ben doing more reading about my ticker-tape synesthesia. I have other ones too--calendar, and I see music in shapes.
glofkill's profile indicates he's very new--I'm sorta new--he'll find this place full of word nerds. the trouble woth clues as Aloy says is you can do a lot of the grid without even looking at it--like this morning. But O can use some of o-o's fount of info.
Hello, Scrabbler and everyone. What shape does your calendar take?
Haz, my synesthete sister! Hm, I see it as a large bluepprint spread out in front of my eyes.
scrabs too bad i don't drive to VT every summer as I did till a couple years ago--I go right past you. (I fly--and really have to sell the cottage--on a beautiful lake--sad.
And is it a year's worth of time or less?
I can zoom in and out to see what I need to. I can zoom out and see a timeline of history.
Actually, the timeline is a separate image.
Coloured or not?
Hello, hurshy
No color.
Interesting. And the musical shapes - what are they like? (Sorry for so many questions!)
scrab, do you hae that huge (actual) time line of history made in the 19th century? I have it from my gr grandfather we'd spread it out on the floor--goes back to Adam--it's been recentltly republished. The last thousand years or two are pretty accirate.
The shapes are like a landscape--higher mountains for loud or high notes, lower for softer or lower notes. I see songs that way.
Phone, back in a mo.
No, RB, but I have seen those posters.
I want to hear the musical shapes, scrab--I HEAR music most of the time but can shut it off--usually--when I'm working--
Because I have a ticker-tape scrolling in my brain I prefer to watch movies (DVDs or on the computer) with closed caption.
and someone's coming to work with me in 15 minutes so I better get off of here and eat something--i am not an addict i am not an addict i a m not an addict--it's all rastapopolous's fault
Neuroscience, cognitive science are fascinating.
Bye, RB. Come back later.
Cousin Earth, are you here?
scrab, you and Oliver S should be having interesting conversations. Did I miss Crossy this morning? He always brightens my day. Poink--or is it boink?
I did not enter til about 850 or so
Crossy is at his class
oo, you didn't answer me on WMO--do I find it on line?
Google WMO or the man's name, RB.
http://tinyurl.com/55bc94
Hello Cousin Scrab. hello all
Hi Earth! I am off today but we need snow, so I cannot cross-country ski or snowshoe.
Sorry. MAybe tomorrow.
More housecleaning, I guess.
a final word--thanks scrab, o-o--I have a speech my dad gave 60 years ago predicting just what's happening now--it will be the start of my vol. 3.happening now.
Leslie will be here Jan 25 for 5-6 days.
I have your website bookmarked, RB.
Malthus may yet be right
Great. Jim will visit this weekend. He has business in Toronto
I don't think I will come up. Jax will be here this weekend so we will be busy.
hello peeps
Hi Owl
Hi Owl
thanks, scrab--vols 3 and 4 will be out this spring and they aren't all about the past. He does--my dad--talk about Malthus, and has other later references-- startling to read. 1954.
Owl, Earth is my cousin. She usually lurks, but I got her hooked on Babble.
hi earth!
Sorry to bring you out of lurkdom, Earth.
rasta is my daughter. She lurks exc to come out when ther's problems with a really hard word. If she could get a job using words-- when she was a teen one night at the table she said this is the sort of evening I love--when we can spend two hours on a preposition!
That's OK, it's a good group of people here.
Doorbell my help is here and I haven't eaten--I leave you with a recc to get to know rasta.
I have seen rasta here.
rastapoupolis?
Yes
Any Downton Abbey fans here?
raste has played a long time.
yes--in Nevada--gotta go. puttom ng in sola r panels there--
I watch it Scrb
bye rb
srabbler, have you seem doren today?
I am finally watching Season 3 on Amazon Prime and will finish the last 4 episodes today, I think. I recorded the first episode of Season 4 on Jan 5 but forgot to record the Jan 12 episode. Do you have it in case I cannot find it on-line?
No, Owl.
i have not watch any of it
i was just wondering how she is.
I have not seen Dorens either ...
hopefully she is resting. very painful
I have already erased it.
I think I can watch it on the PBS website.

Oh, no!
Supposed to have her nose set today and some stitches.
Pain and discomfort! Poor thing.

I was stuck in mass class all morning;((
hi aloy- glad it is back up - i was telling them how you guys were having fun with the clues- some good ones out there in the chog lol
religion or numbers crossy..
yes, we were on a roll
numbers
math
not mass sorry]
well i am outta here- hasta la later :-)
praying you will do well, crossie
done.. back to "biddness".. it is ok, crossy.. I knew whatcha meant.. see you all next time, poof
besides, tuseday morning mass would be a bit odd;))
lol, roundbarn
LOL... good one, RB.. real poof
well, as of right now, I am at 91% . there are 11 days of class left and what is left is worth 30% of the total, so even if I drop dead right as we speak, I should still manage a 61% lol
the problem with the mass clues in the a.m. aloy is y you can do the grid without even looking at the grid--I think you said you shut off the clues.
is that percent passing?
many of us turn of the chat till we reach a particular personal word goal, roundbarn, then click it on for yakking and to gather up the last few words
barely, rounddbarn, bit it will not matter as I am feeding the worms anyways:)
i usually don't look at it until i hit a wall...or need stats for the longer words....
too many clues too fast and I quit and get to work--as I should now--
am stoked though. English is my next class:)
took one English just before math then I have two more afterwards
i have your address crossie but to mail to canada is astronomical, and even here--and we're going up again in less than two weeks--
if you wish to send me love letters, roundbarn, I will pay the freight:))))
they are sort of love letters. I'll see what Canada costs--I have several addresses--a few more love letters!
my br-in-law directs a summer music festival every summer in New Brunswick--I used to go regularly to one or two efents. Some funny stories but not to print here.
but seriously, if you need mail funds for anything, just email me. I owe you a few after that last expensive parcel you sent me;)
The cable news channels are broadcasting a news conference related to Justin Bieber egging a house. In case you want to mark the beginning of the end on your calendars.
if you read the parcel it's worth it. I figure everything is a business expense and deduct it.
i highly enjoyed what i have read so far roundbarn. was working my way through all the booklets first
2013 is now printed. Crossie, and has two poems about babble in it--have to check to see if I used your name
oohh!, if you made me famous by using my name, i must have a copy:))
i'll go look
unless you made me infamous:))
of course being an anti-hero adds a bit of mystery to it all:))
the only name I use in either poem is uusue's, though you may recognize some people--I describe the game more, in one. And now I must poing off to work. (Using your word as a verb, crossie--here's an
that's poink:))
english tip--I didn't realize till my 3rd book that "would of" is really "would've". Poing
but poinging? maybe
to poink, have poinked will poink, poinking, poinker..
mm,m goot tip RB, but i would just save myself some grief and just say " would of" or "would have"
oh I got it wrong. I stand corrected. I am off to go poinking. Poinked this morning. can one be poinkier? In England we said tata, but enable wont take that.
mm,i can see me must set down some ground rules for poink and all its varriations
crossie you've said would of, I just don't want you saying it on a test. Of course if I were the teadher I wouldn't count off, just say what it was. I graded differently from my colleagues.
can we re-poink or un-poink for example?
I seem to be unpoinking since I was heading off to poink. This is more fun. Did you read in way back chat what I said about Rastapopolous when she was a kid, about words?
no, i missed it. do tell me:))
here is something for you roundbarn....
this morning ghere was word talk--a new person said he was a word person. and I said when rasta was in h.s. she said, "this is what I love--when we can spend a whole evening on a preposition!" this was at home, at the table., not at school. She stu ill can match anybody on this grid even o-o, but seldom speaks up. Sshe had Groves memorized as plleasurable reading. Wish she could gind a word job.
did I miss something, crossie?
as you may or may not be aware, our town here hosts the International elvis festival. people come from all over the world. Now it came to pass that as local people, we would often see more than one elvis gathered at a contest,or eating in a restaurant, or just waiting to cross the street at the lights. Yhe problem was we did not have a word that we could use that would describe a gathering of more than one elvis. In times us locals began using the term "elvii" to describe more than one elvis. This has since been picked up by the websters dictionary
I love it! Now the town where I live--it's the very same but with multiple Lincilns--what's the word for a pod of Lincolns?
mmm..
lincons...
that is a tough one
lincolniae
and would it be a heard of lincons,or a gaggle of lincolns?
herd
well I have a lot of poinking to do so I beeter leave, this is too much fun. I'll send you another Liberty, Crossie--or is it Crossy--
got it!! a filibuster of Lincolns!]
either or,roundbarn:)
so a group of politicians could also be a filibuster of politicians
tc roundbarn
too much fun, I'm going. I'll ask at our enos park meeting tonight--the funeral cortege will go right through us in two years--do we put up crepe or not? What to do abt decaying Oak Ridge cemetery? look up this week's Il Times article on our famous cemetery--now in grave disprepair--you'll also see my Demi poem. poink.
nobody's laughing at my joke? well I'm really outa here
spry,rb,i had drifted to a different site.will read now
lol@ grave disrepair
sounds like they will have to "dig up " some money
yeah, a little lame. but we live just south of the famous grave. THAT is kept in good repair.
all that meant is I'm off to price canada, Poink.
since I do not follow famous dead people in the united states and where they may or may not be buried, and since we were talking about Lincoln just a bit earlier, I am guessing that RB has ole Abe himself interred iin her home town cemetery:))
think i shall google Oak Ridge and see..brb
ahh yes. Springfield.Home of Honest Abe and Homer Simpson:)). that is one heck of a burial plot!!!
I think homer S is alive and well and living in Springfield, Mass-I think we lost in that contest--though I suggested we add the Simpson family on one end of our town square, to match the L family-- (did we kill the dhat?)
there is a S'field in every state of the union
Afternoon, all. Yes, Roundbarn. But how many Springfields have nuclear power plants???
hmm, name them--I know we're not one--we have enough fight with the big coal burner we have
one is near us at Clinton, IL though, and great controversy
had to look it up but found the Springfield here in WV - out in the eatern panhandle
I have no idea which ones have nuke plants, if any. I suppose all nuke plants are controversial.

Well I am in in SC right now helping with the baby and 3 yr old but Maryland is getting some cold weather
Good Evening. I'm trying to use a laptop and not used to it; I finally hooked up a mouse so that I don't have to scroll on that little ppad!

My computer is in the repair store for about a week (they said); so trying to do things on other devices is a total PIA right now

Using that scroll pad really hurts my hands and finger!
mine too nef!
never liked a scroll pad....
had to get a small mouse to use with my netbook...
Hi pen.
yeah my mouse is tiny
well, hi pen

help with the A in the middle?
My tablet is fun for some things and it's easy to read or play solitaire, but trying to use it for FB or Babble doesn't work well on it (it's a 7 inch Samsung). My phone keeps telling me it's memory is full, and I'm not doing well at all on the iPad or iPod my son offered for me to use.
niters, saphyre
ac 4/6 pain and past tense - nite :)
Hello Nef! How are you doing today? Welcome to the chog.

no one he4 but us chickens, or do you call 'em chooks?
lolol, chooks is good. or how about old boilers?
oh, yum!
finally have cleared enough stuff out of MIL's rooms so that we use it. not as the bedroom alas. but we can now sit in the aircon. comfort and use our computers.
next phantom: scavenge
mother-in-law?
yup, gwen. did you not hear that the darling died 7th december?
nope, i guess not. sorry to hear
it was a blessing really. she had just had surgery for cancer. at the tender age of 94, everything then packed it in. she had a massive heart attack(her first) and her kidneys stopped working.
i had the fortnight from hell then. my own mum passed away 21st november. we had her funeral and started clearing up her home, then i had my surgery on the 2nd december. came home the day before the MIL passed.
holy cow
and i'm still he4....lol. still weepy at times, but i think it's the pain meds. lowering my emotional control. poor don doesn't know what to do with me.
glad to hear you're still he4
thanx gwen.
keep on trucking rose
or am i dating myself
yay joso. so nice to see you, mate
you're dating yourself, but i know that phrase so it can't be *that* old LOL
roflol, gwen. what she said, joso
good to be here, missed you lst night by>] [> that much
except there's a caviat . . .
ugh. so what have you been to, joso?
there's always a caviat
gwen, i so wanted caveat
tinkering with my new place, wrangling with burocacy, getting to know my aunt and uncle better
i kept typing it until i realised, not spelled caviat 8-(
all good stuff then.
and of course games whenever i can
of, course, joso, the games. lol
i wouldn't call the burocracy good, but nessary, the rest is good
decat = to remove cat from tree (or wherever)
anything that keeps you off the streets is good, mate
how about devite, to not ask someone to a party ?
true, my chances of making a good living as a streetwalker are slim
i want points for devite, too!
cevite = to plunk down $100 to get a celebrity to come to your party
gwen, giggling like crazy over your song in your profile. love your definitions, too
8-D
hi all!
hi sue, how you?
g'day sue
I am good, gwen, how are you?
g'day, granny!
hey sue
meh
hi joso!
just meh, hope all is not too bad?
welll i got troubls just like anyone, but granny rose has me beat, so i'm not gonna pout about it 8-)
yea, rose is living the soap opera just now
ah, gwen. please share. you'll only find sympathetic ears he4, hun.
oh dear, rose, I haven't been on too much, hope you are managing
degod = to turn somene into a diehard atheist
lol, gwen!
mostly car trouble, health trouble, and money trouble, so, nothing big LOL
sue, i'm okay. just weepy still. i seem to have lost my self-control. if anyone findsit, please send it back. am missing it dreadfully.
haha, I think it must have run off with mine, granny! It's been AWOL for quite a while.
awww gwen. don't you just hate it when stuff happens in a bunch like that?
;-P sue
yup!
my son got beaten up on New Year's Eve, after he had already lost his car keys - had a concussion but is ok now, but those were the last keys for his car; getting new ones (and fixing the various things that then cascaded from that) cost about $1000
hang in there, hun. if talking about it helps, i'll listen. look!! two ears, no waiting.
but all is well now and we have taken possession of the spare keys
egad, sue. what a terrible thing to happen! i'm so glad he has recovered okay.
holy cow
jeez sue
he started a new semester yesterday and is getting lots of help so we are hoping for a better outcome (he failed all but one of his classes last fall, mostly due to depression, which he is finally getting treated for)
but as I say, things are definitely looking up and he is in good spirits
and I am finally back to singing with the women's chorus in town again, which makes me happy
lovely sue. it's always nice to be able to do something you really like to do. and glad that your son is better. i hope 2014 holds everything he wishes for.
singing is way better for depression than taking prozac (or whatever)
I agree, gwen!
i started a singing circle at my church and we meet every wednesday night. singing for fun: no performances, no practicing, no solos, and, most important, no putdowns
wow, just listing, I sure missed a lot of de words!
that sounds like fun, gwen!
it's hellafun, and i'm pretty sure it helps some of us (including me) keep our heads on straight, too
I sing with our church choir too, but that is a lot less work - we usuallly just rehearse Sunday mornings
i sing like a frog with a sore throat.
but if you were with us in the singing circle, no one would be allowed to make a peep about it!
put me in the back row...i'll just flap my gums, and pretend...lol
nbt at last, and 52 to go
no, you're mixing up a choir with a singing circle 8-)
I'm down to 39 but won't finish
yes, of course, our church has a choir, a completely different animal
well, our church is pretty small, so the choir is informal
yeah, most uu choirs are smallish, which is why we envy the baptist so much (joke!)
sue? hun, you haven't posted how frank's PET scan went. is everything okay.
oh, it was clear, granny, we found out quite a while ago now, so it's gotten buried in my profile. Thanks for asking!!
Now I'm making him get all the dental work done that he's put off for the past 10 years, so he is not happy about that, but it really needs to get done
oh, good. i was a little concerned when there wasn't an up-date.
well, i'm going to make a guess for number of words for the next grid, then say good night
211
I'm down to 18...
poor frank...i cannot abide going to the dentist. mind you, i have recently changed dentists, and my new one is female. very gentle and caring.
wow sue! i'm only down to 50 now
whoot sue, goooo girl
but i found that silly french word for a tiny shelving unit
oh, yes, I found that too but only with the list
i actually own one of those things, otherwise, i would be staring at that word going, hunh?
