Oh, puglet, thank you for asking! He was discharged last week, and by mutual agreement, is staying with his sister and her hub for a while. She's 27, and they have been very close since the day he was born. I think his loyalty to her will bolster his will to not use. WHile the mania that seems to be a consequence of a pot binge was frightening, and his father was an irresponsible bastard for giving him a couple hundred dollars in cash, given son's issues, it seems to have not so much scared him straight as been a moment of truth as to what sort of person he will be. Substance abuse awakens a mean side to him, and he himself is appalled by it looking back. Kindness is a value of his. Previously only alcohol disinhibited rage in him; this time pot did the same. I think the move out of my house was timely even had there not been a crisis. 22 year old guys need to not live with mom. We were both in a rut and a bit sick of one another. He has a therapist now, and the plan is for that therapy to be individual, no family counseling. This is good. I'm so touched by the kindness of Babblers. this and basenotes.net are my two dearest communities on the 'net.
people takes such advantage of the elderly and those living alone--thats what worries me about OO
btw, my daughter, my ex, and myself all live within a mile and a half of one another.
Good developments there, melon. Am so glad. I hope he will manage to stay away from all drugs from now on. Good thing he is scared by what he is becoming. And am so happy for you there will be more peace in your home now.

puglet, his bottoming out seems to have happened, at we were spared catastrophe compared to how other poor souls bottom out. He is such a good soul. He and all of us treasure that goodness. He is challenged by both learning disabilies including major communication disporder, and mental illness, either schzophrenia or schizoaffective. He has fantastic help, especially from JFSA of Cleveland. There is no better agency. See, your prayers worked (:

bichon, re: that apple tablet: I think your sanity would be best served by taking that thing into the kitchen, dropping into the blender and setting it on frappe. afterwards you can go out and get a nice asus or a nexus ten tablet.
The only Apple product I have ever owned is an iPod. I had to work on a Mac computer once and it almost drove me to drink (more)

play the lap dulcimer and the bowed psaltery (current icon)
will be at a jam on Saturday where there will be both hammered and lap dulcimers
i have a new friend who plays hammered dulcimer among other things, like accordian. (cajun)
interesdtiong combination of instrumentds - lap and hammered are completely different but can play together
do you play any instruments? know that you like to go to dances and concerts
i mentioned i knew someone who played dulcimer but was not sure which.
some in our group do play both, but have never learned the hammered - learned the psaltery instead and also tried the autoharp but didn't get very far with it
teach, i had piano accordion lessons as a child. i took up guitar as an adult.
i like the autoharp. i think of claudia schmidt for that and lap dulcimer.
guitars are always good to have in a jam session - have a guitar that plays with our dulcimer group - she is also the vocalist for the group
do you know claudia? she sings mostly jazz now but her folk stuff is superb. beautiful voice, great range.

myt room adjoined the autism classroom - and her biggest problem was the wide range of levels she had - non verbal, not toilet trained - to some who spent time in regular classroom getting academics

they should separate them based on where they are in the spectrum
at least separate the severe from the non-severe
unfortunately there aren't enough in terms of numbers to make that always possible
and yeah, the non-verbal, non-toilet-trained ones were some of my toughest students... it was so hard to know whether they were getting anything out of being there, if they liked what we were doing with them, etc.
but, i do think it's important to provide access to education to everybody, no matter what their ability

I think it was covered under our sick leave asnd msaybe it was because I never took sick days - too hard to get a sub in special ed) and lots of days accumulated.
But my DIL works for Giant Eagle as a pharmacist and three years ago got paid leave - don't think of them as a high end company - she was having a hard time during her pregnancy and also took off the month before her due date and got 80% of salary of medical leave - and got 1 or 2 extra weeks after because it was a C-section
