My daughter has done this for 5 years now; they've always had a hot tub after the dip; but this year when it was way below zero with a wind chill of -20(F), they had a "steam tunnel" without heat!
TPTB said the hot tub "wasn't sanitary" this year!
well, we all just sat in the warming hut, wearing fluffy robes and drinking hot beverages
were all back in shape and ready to get dressed again in 20 minutes
that sounds better than what she had to do. She said they ran through the "steam tunnel" and toweled off and got dressed and she went home to warm up; no hot beverages (I don't think they've ever offered that); when I saw her on her way home her hair was frozen and her lips were blue; she said she had no feeling in her toes either

It was wonderful, welki (and expensive). We had reservations for 6 PM, it was a very nice old restaurant in a historic hotel in downtown St. Paul, everything was a la carte, and just the meal alone took 3 hours. And cost a lot, even without any alcohol.

I'm back...kitty wanted in
DH had swordfish that was baked and on a bed of braised spinach with something else in it(maybe pine nuts or something?) and he ordered scalloped potatoes as a side he had water and coffee after also, but he also had a HUGE chocolate sundae. He ate all of the sundae, but he brought about 1/2 of his food home too. That meal was $140 (including tip)
so it was wonderful! and that's not so bad, considering you each got two meals

We sat in the hotel lobby while I checked what was going on in town for entertainment; but after finding some things that started at 8PM, I looked up and noticed that DH was worn out ; so I told him that everything we would have liked to do started earlier and we came home. I think that that was a good idea; he's still pretty worn out from that
...so I heard. Son went for his walk along the river yesterday and said that wind was bitter!
for a special dinner and an evening out, I do not consider 200-300 out of the range of reality. for our 20th , as my babbler friends know, we did that sunset dinner cruise aboard the R.M.S Segwun steamship. was very memorable.

Crossy, all we did was eat. A dinner cruise would have been nice, or a supper show or something, but (even though we talked and enjoyed each others' company) 3 hours for a meal without any extras? I guess the price and time were worth it (maybe); I just was amazed at it.

it is breathtaking how fast the money goes during a special evening
dice then scoop most of an avocado out...squirt just a bit of lime juice in the shell and set aside. Mix 1cup favorite rice mix ( I used minute rice multi grain medley) 1 roma tomato diced with the avocado fill the shells, top with feta cheese and bake 375 about 12 min. I put them in pyrex custard cups
It's the 2nd time in 39 years we've gone that "fancy" like that; for our 35th anniversary we went to a small town on the Mississippi River and stayed at a B&B and had dinner there and it was cheaper!

DH was going to give her the clock and I had to be the one to say No.
my son, comes after the mrs, and since he is an only child, I forsee no problems in that regard.
and NEVER, EVER, EVER, leave anything informally. they are fighting tooth and nail to get MIL's jewellery and they are all guys!

I do have life insurance, so it won't be too tough on him; but if he should die suddenly, I might be in a pickle trying to pay for the funeral costs even if it's a cheap funeral and burial.

my folks and my aunt and uncle who raised me had nothing and I didn't get anything either (never expected it, so I was lucky that way too). Aunty Jean didn't have much of anything, and she didn't leave anything to her older sister because the older sister was always telling Jean that she should throw stuff out. Besides, that sister had money and Jean didn't
crossy, Aunty Jean was creamated (as were her mother and her oldest sister (Jean had lived with them their whole lives); but it still cost around $2500 for cremation, burial of the urn, and all of the various fees etc. (and this was back in 2011)
only member of our family that had money was my grammys sister and her and my da hated each other. she died a spinster and left all her money to a home for wayward cats.
in 2013, cremation, a nice donation to her charity and a nice urn came to about $2,000.00 inc tax

We took Aunty Jean to the family plot up in a very small town where she (and the family) grew up. Very little cost there; the cemetery manager came out about 1/2 hour before the family gathered , dug a 4 foot hole, and put the urn in after. He used a post hole digger to do it!

What is the system called, then the non designated keepsakes need to be dispersed? My brother numbered everything of Mom's and we all chose in turn ( being 5 of us ) I was eldest and chose first, and then not again until #10. It worked beautifully.
Just a head's up to people who wish to be cremated, you should mention where you would like your ashes scattered. And do a little research because there are very specific laws about where ashes can be scattered and where they can't.
i learned the hard way, that if it is not down in the will, they will dispute everything. lawyer fees will eat it all up

there are indeed, molly, both sets of the remains we have have a numbered certificate and that information must be used when making application to scatter the remains
Molly, when my dad was cremated, we discovered that. He wanted his ashes scattered in a specific river at a special place he always went fishing at. My BIL worked in the BLM at the time and it was quite an involved process to do it.

I've found (in the past) that I can get spellcheck to accept odd spellings just while I'm on a page for that one time. I haven't found a permanent fix yet
Usually, something that has spell check has a dictionary and you just add the word to your dictionary. I don't know what kind of device you're using and how it works, though.

I used chopt walnuts, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, fresh parsley, chopt red pepper, eggs, bread crumbs, mustard, and some plain yogurt.
I used to make a lovely red lentil loaf when the boys were little, peri -- I don't know if I still have that recipe though. Haven't made it in years. Although the loaf itself was fairly dry, a nice tomato sauce over the top was a great complement.

My hussband and i were watching a celebrity skiing programme here just before the winter olympics started and so many of them hurt themselves and then when we watched the Winter Olympics more got hurt ...A very dangerous sport...i must admit i prefer lying in the Sun then being in the cold and skiing has never appealed to me...too dangerous
