Did I tell you, Flosey, that I emailed Jilli?
I wish Dr. G would just fix the server..it's like every night a couple of times a nigt
night
true, ru... seems worse now than it used to be several years ago
Sleep well Ru
Jilli has abandoned us :(
all her new friends on jigidi
She said she'll be back but Great Danes take priority (that's me, not her)
I was wondering how she is doing and where she has been.
I knew she was dogging it
Involved on FB with Great Dane people and too tired to find words.
But she said to say hi to everyone.
*weeps quietly in the corner*
LOL, ru
she made me giggle one day while was feeling really crummy,
here's a box of tissues
*honk!* *sniffle*
How did she do that - if it's not personal.
I haven't been checking FB, since I felt so yucky... just played a few games, so I haven't noticed jili's postings.
one of the email jokes going around
I love to make flosey laugh
I do always check our email
I love to laugh
Glad she made you laugh :)
don't ever lose that flosey..
I agree - can't imagine life without laughter
can help through some rough spots, for sure
I can't imagine life without... oh never mind
That too!
Sleep well - I'm taking a break :)
see you later, liz!
See everyone at the flip! Poofing with hugs!!
goodnight Dee, sweet sleep

hello diz
FWs
WTG DIZ!!!
byeee all xoxo
good morning
good morning, my dear
hello my sweety rosie
the roses in the garden are all leafy now and there are more flowers every day. I love April!
whoops, pb for me, didn't see you in the grid.....
*smiling at you* one day i will share it with you...i gave my roses their autumn pruning....but the weather has stayed warm...they're all putting out new shoots...AGAIN!!!
i bought some new tulip bulbs today. they are in the fridge, for 4-6 weeks, then i will plant them out.
and we now officially have 3 loos in the house...lol
the second year we were here, after th garden had been designed and planted, I put in 319 tulips in varying shades of pin, violet, roro** and salmon. The next year, it was magnifique. The year after, there were about 100, the one after that, 30 or so. Now, we get one purple one and many dwaft salmon.
dwarf* not daft
3 loos -- very nice.
the books say you have to lift them every year. let them dry out, then store in a cool place until the next season.
e have a silly house: 2 bedrooms, 5 toilets
sure, in my free time! I'd rather babble
well at least you won't be caught short...lolol
when we bought the house it had 5 TINY bedrooms Ridiculous
yay, half!
sorry, so what did you do to the house?
we tore out walls, removed the dropped ceiling upstairs to expose beams, made it into 2 bedrooms , combined the tiny kitchen and tiny dining room into one American-stye kitchen/breakfast room.
was easy because we weren't living here, were still inMiami
wow!! what a transformation.
Of course, what we didn't know or think about was the reason behind the dropped ceiling and tiny rooms -- heating! Now the house is very pretty but COLD!
Americans don't think about that beause house have central heating.
yeah, meanwhile back at the ranch, we have to live here without a kitchen for as long as it takes to gut the kitchen/laundry, and put in the new kitchen cabinets, cooker, oven, sink...
I used graph paper and designed everything. Purchased some fabrics and wall coverings in Florida and \ny, otherd here. And we flew back and forth
Of course, those were during the days when we still had $$
I walked around with swatches in my handbag for 2 years
It must be really difficult to do renovations while living in the house -- and impossible, if you have animals
oh, it's going to be a blast...lolol
dinner nearly ready, gots to go, stomach thinks my throat has been cut. * giggle *
We lived in the guestroom for a month before the upstairs was completed and we had a houseguest coming the first Christmas. I finally told the contractor, that he would have to put all of us up if he didn't finish the upstairs
re 6/27 clue please
Found it and finished
WTG GRAN!! okay, think i'll go. love and hugs to all who follow, nice grid. enjoy~!!
good morning all
good morning everyone:)
hey crossy :) *hugs*
((sprite))
how's the neck, crossy, and how is school?
hi sprite and crossy .. popping in, have to leave in 15 min but wanted to say hi
hi Aloy :) *hug* Terra says woof.
neck has gone quiet for now(thank god). still waiting on specialist call for that, and school is going very, very well:)
howdy aloy
awesome, crossy :)
Terra has been in some recent grids (-;
so he has :D
and how are you and yours today sprite?
pretty good, crossy! Apart from a bad night and a painful back I am good. Kids are home early from school today and husband is at work. Terra sleeping at my feet :)
need another dog, then you can name the second one Firma :)
awww he is dreaming even! I hear tiny yelps from under my desk.
lol crossy
lol crossy! And a 3rd one that we will call Cotta?
lol
just don't name one "bull"
terra bull joke, sorry
lolol
who or what is terra Bull?
terrible, crossy
ahh ok..still early for crossy...need my first tea..
want to hear a real bummer for my last English class? (just got my report card back for it.
must do the dishes after babble, not looking forward to it with the back pain. But after that, not gonna do a single thing today, lol
sure, let's hear it, crossy
time for me to scoot.. will leave you in peace, ciao for now.. scratch Terra for me, sprite.. nice seeing you.. waiting for crossy's bummer..
will do, Aloy, great seeing you *hugs*
I went into the final exam with a 95%. now the final is worth 15% of the total. I lose the picture in my mind of exactly how I want to lay my paper out, mess up the formatting and get a 66% on my final. so my report card ends up being 90%. So in essence, I lost 5% by getting a 66% on my exam
but, I am not complaining about a 90% TOO much
lololllll ok, bad luck, but indeed, a 9 out of 10 is awesome
aww, sorry about the exam, but overall you did very well, crossy.. congrats! poof
lol, yes, 9/10 ain't bad:)
fi4flies for me. Easy grid. *hugs* for you, crossy, and for Mrs Elegant too.

don't be silly, you made it lovely for me!
Glad to have helped :)
But I guess some other people in the US might only just have started and may not have wanted to have seen loads of clues!
I guess I am in the middle, timewise
Probably - the UK too.
our sky is yellow, looks like nuclear winter from Saharan sand
I've seen too many apocalyptic movies
Yuck! I read about that in England - didn't know it was over France too. We once had a red dust sky here from sand storms in central Aus.
Yesyterday I thought it was pollen but then saw the news
Must be hard for people with asthma
I prefer the pollen idea but then I'd probably be sneezing too much!
yes, for sure, and makes the eyes sting. Not such a big dealhere in the country, though, and they're epecting rain on the weekend (much-needed_
my garden is flowery but very dry
my garden is flowery but very dry
Ruby, thank you for that cheerful thought to start the day. : D
We also need more rain. Had one day of torrential rain last week - first time in almost a year. it turned the grass green but we need a lot more.

And thank God and all that's holy, all that disgusting white stuff is gone.
And we keep getting rain
:-D
We had 2" on Monay Molly
Rain is good. Anything that falls from the sky that is not white and frozen is good.
LOL!!
tired of all the mud but, yes, better than frozen stuff :-)
And sand. They haven't cleaned our streets yet
My yard is like a sopping wet sponge

I have also discovered that i am really out of shape because I break a sweat when I put on my Spanks.
:)
molly that is soooo funny
omg where in the world did that come from?
I think there is a reason they call them Spanx instead of Spanks. Oh the places my mind will go.
We do an annual "find the funniest Peeps image" thing on another board.
is that yours?
I wish. : )
goodnight all
bye, lynxxx

What does it mean?
I wonder what it means.

It's a Beverly Cleary series
lol, no idea.. will grab Scrabble dictionary and look
it is a plant of the mint family
that was an old song. My father used to sing it.
Boo Enable
I don't know anyone named ramona, but it is a pretty name
Very old fashioned
I have a friend named ramona - colleague in TX
howdy kje!
I think the song was old when I was born.
ahoy aloy!
I did love that series by Cleary
Hi kje
I'm too young, never heard it, lol
baby!
Reading it to the grand kids is fun too
uuuuuhhhh... I don't think you are much younger than me
and my nephews know the series!
cashier was kidding me.. "are you sure you are old enough to buy this wine"? hahahaha
I was carded at the supermarket.
You have to be 62 to get a senior discount.
LOL .. made your day!
No one would ever mistake me for under 21 and I have the gray hair to prove it.
Yes, I was 10 years older!
I even get reading glasses based on my age
Made my week.
There are some perks, Bichon.
I am not seeing anything, so time for a break. Later.....
Yes, I get Medicare

Yesterday it was 65 degrees. Gorgeous. Today woke up to 7 inches of snow and it's still going.
This is why mountain living has no appeal for me.
no plows are needed as the roads are too warm though
was surreal going 40 mph in a snow storm lol
More of the freakishly weird winter that refuses to end.
70 on saturday though lol
It's 57 here and I am planting today : )
had the top down on my miata the last tow days. flowering trees are all abloom.
we sent all the kids' winter stuff home on spring break lol oops
they had to go to school in normal shoes and a hoodie .. oh well!
od
To quote Springsteen: Roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair
fw.
Cos, love the Labyrinth icon : D
Come in and meet the missus
Molly i wouldnt live in the mountain of anywhere myself
I was in the mountains of Georgia once. It was pretty, but it made me realize what a flat lander I am.
ain't no mountain high enough... ain't no mountain high enough... to keep me from getting to youuuuuuu.
lol
Thank you Diana
wooooooooooooooooooooooo
molly i have been in the mountains of wv and the ride up there i hated. It also bothers me that it feels like in the middle of nothing and the only way seems to be down
ruru aint no mountain high enough aint no mountain low enough .. i love that song
If we're doing The Supremes, I'll take Come See About Me.
Ci6?
Oh now you've done it. I need to get my Motown mix out.
I love Motown.. the Motown sound
I should watch Dreamgirls again..
I Heard itThrough the Grapevine
i love that movie ruru
oh.. Marvin Gaye was the best
Al Green and Marvin Gaye are among my favorite singers
♪♫ Say it's all right, say it's all right, it's all right, have a good time, cause it's all right♪♫ Curtis
Chain of Fools
I saw him in concert too once.. he
he's great
is anyone finding this grid hard? i have nbt and nbs though?
It's a shame that the only thing close to Motown these days is Robin Thicke's cheap rip off of Marvin Gaye.
Robin THicke is an idiot... (going on record)
I'm on that same record
If you haven't seen it yet, get the DVD or Blue-ray of "20 Feet From Stardom" It's about the backup singers from the 60s to the present, including Darlene Love. Excellent documentray. It's also on Netflix
Funny back up singer story...When Henley did VH1 Story Tellers, Cheryl Crow was in the audience. When it came to the question and answer section, she stood up and asked him what back up singers make these days. His response was "Oh, I can't afford you anymore darlin' " : D
great answer.. I can't stand Cheryl Crow
I can't either. It's pretty gross the way she slept her way through rock and roll to make a name for herself.
I've read stories that she is the biggest B in Rock
She has, what is so accurately called, a vagenda. : D
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
hello
i hate robin thicke

The ungrateful wretches!

Lots of reports on personal fitness today. *Passes out water bottles and misters*
while im lying in bed puffing on a cigarette eating cheetos
I need the O and the A in the right column, please?
NM...just found the A
A few times a year I indulge my somewhat addictive craving for Cheetos.
A bag every few months is enough for me..
And smoking in bed is dangerous!
*bows head*
Well, smoking cigarettes in bed is dangerous. : P
lol fair enough
I still need the O in the right column please?
o + first 3 of icky fish that are "brisling"

Clue for the ih 5/14 please?
ih + male sheep
TY!
NBT.....off to Mt. Washmore. BRB
so sick of people panicking over buffalos migrating in yellowstone
the sky is falling!
So true, cosdem. If there was real impending disaster, wouldn't all the animals in Yellowstone be heading for the hills?
Chicken Little Syndrome is rampant these days.
And, if a super volcano was getting ready to erupt, there would be obvious seismic evidence to back it up.
It disgusts me the way the press sensationalizes EVERYTHING these days.
Would somebody tell me what is going on?
We can't have a winter storm anymore. It has to be a "polar vortex". Give me a fekkin break.
I agree Judi and people who believe things because "they done seen it on the internet" are disturbing.
bison were seen emigrating in yellowstone jaxx
and now its the end of the world.
My ancestors did that regularly
i have a friend who just bought a gun in case of the walkers and he was serious. i had to remove him from my friends lol
its all because of that earthquake. idiot sheeps.
LOL, Cos! In case of Zombie Apocalypse, follow the bison!
ooh I like that!
One of the many reasons I find Facebook so odd.
Probably the Bison were getting short of food after the awful winter. They are off to a place with more food.
That is a sensible assumption, jaxx. Next thing you know, people will be pissed off because they are eating all the grass in the town park.
And then, I don't know, it could be because bison are naturally migratory animals.
Ya think????
and they weren 't
fleeing. they were walking.
BUT DON'T LET THAT STOP THE WIDESPREAD PANIC!!!
HEllo babbleworld!
*buries head in sand*
Hi, Jilly!
mooooo
Another thing regarding animals in Yellowstone...they are moving out of park...hmmm...recent earthquakes...foretelling of the Yellowstone Caldera blowing up???
Everyone go build your underground bunker RIGHT NOW!!
Sigh. *dusts off tin foil beret again*
Judi, it's bison not ostriches
<---planning going out in a blaze of glory...oh, ok, just a blaze! Rather be vaporized than die during a volcanic winter
Like, what.ev.er.
You couldn't in the UK. The government have sold them all off.

Off I go to throw in a load of laundry, then to the car wash. *POOF*
I am babble blind. bbl
Hmmm....does a clean car prevent either a zombie or volcano apocopylpse?
No, but clean laundry does. I read it on the internet.
LOL
No but having your head look like a hersey kiss does :)
Can't forget the need for aluminum foil!

Hello Dears
Hego!! Hi and how are you?
Good, Jilly.
Beautiful day here.
Finally!
Trying to get another friend here addicted (er I mean interested) in Babble, I have forgotten, how long is the free trial?
clue for dr 7?
Same here hego...just gorgeous!
I don't remember Jilly.
Seems to me you can stay as long as you want without paying, but limited access.
will look for the dr hego
ty
when I started, there was no free time frame, you just couldn't see the stats...
Has it changed?
Well, it's so cheap anyway...
not that I am aware o f hego
right
I can't say. I've been a subscriber since 2005, I think...
14 days was the free trial. i didnt bother. joined on day 1
hi babblers
dr7= dr+vowel+California mission priest Junipero **r*a (or se4/4)
i think the free trial is a couple of weeks - after that, the # of words in the grid and stats are hidden
lol. ty Jilly
hi welki!
Hi Welki, hope you feel better.
yvw hego

thanks, hego
that is a new word to me.
and i learned a new missionary too!
I have seen it before, and he was the founder of all the missions in California.
double bonus clue then...LOL
and I have visited those missions.
se4 = Sue's dog. Frequently in grids.
There used to be a days walk between them, now, with the traffic, it's a days drive.
They were all set to be less or = to a day's walk. Of course, lots of controversy with him and the native americans there....
LOL..snap

Hi folks. I'm usually just a lurker but I notice the conversation about subschribing. I have never paid anything! Am I missing out on something? I do have Babble Expert.
just popped in for link to my comment about Yellowstone animals for your viewing pleasure http://tinyurl.com/kkrxmmd
If so, you're good.
I'd be happy to pay my share for this terrific game.
Christini, usually one cannot get photo or location...
it's usually 15.00.
You must have paid something, otherwise you would not have access to a profile with a picture.
I don't know how you got registered without paying. :)
Unless someone gifted it to her.
lickety doesnt like non-members to have expert too.
One-time fee, annual, what? I've been playing for years so maybe I jsut don't remember a 1-time payment. Nobody gifted it to me.

yeah one time fee
help iwth the dr7 please?
Thanks for the info.

Oh, I am thinking of Trif. I just saw an article about a Dad who got so fed up with his daughter's messy room that he moved it all out to the driveway. Complete with a sign that says "Haley, room moved to driveway/clean it next time."
lol, good for him.
Molly I posted tat article during that conversation lol no one noticed :P
Well Cos, we suck. : (
how could they not aacept amore??
How do they not accept merci? Enable is nit-pickety about what foreign words it will take.
it takes much more obscure ones.
It's the word list from hell. : D
lol agreed
HI Guys...another lurker here! I have a question that has been driving me crazy for weeks. I signed up and paid the $14.95 on day one. I can see the stats, but can't figure out how y'all know what the total points will be for a word you are looking for. Like when you ask for clues for say, dr7. How do you know it will be a total of 7? What am I missing? thanks so much!!
See Lickety's babble clues below.
Click on LICKETY'S BABBLE CLUES at the bottom of the grid.
Just click on it
And hi Ken, welcome.
Or you can get Babble Expert, a helper program. Link in my profile.
Hi and thanks for the welcome. There is no LICKETY'S BABBLE CLUES at the bottom of grid.
thanks, hego...I'll check that now.
yes in the list of links at the bottom
Down below the Tile Stats, under Friends Of Babble
on the yellow part.
Under Friends of Babble there is no list of links, just BECOME A FRIEND OF BABBLE!
the little green letters are links
OK, now I will go wash the egg off my face and try again! Thanks to all of you!

TO, if it matters, I've noticed that it helps if you capitalize STATS if that is all you want. It seems to work for Penquis.

Hello Babble friends Distraction gratefully appreciated.
What should we do? Moon you? Throw a pie in your face? Pour you a drink?
All of the below! Forget the moon, throw a pie, and make it a double.
Ah, worra, worra...what now?
The drink. A double drink. Not a double pie.
i could use some pie.....been sick all week....just starting to feel like i will recover....
Pen, you take the pie. I'll take the drink.
Pie for the sick one, double for the distressed one.

Hi Kje
Note to self... On your infrequent visits to Babble, make sure your phone is switched off. Apologies, Moll, Lil etc.
Ty Kje
I've just come back myself as husband phoned up Soodles...it's life:)
Bartender...another drink needed please
Bloomin' life!, eh Lil? Gets in the way of other plans! LOL
your husband phoned soodle?
TO!!!!! Willya stoppit! Its supposed to be a secret!!!!
It does Soodle, it's a pain in the arse when playing babble!! :D
I'm just going to pour another drink because I'm not sure I want to hear why Ex Husband of Soodle is calling again.
Is that why you needed a drink Soodle?
:D
Yoiks. This is freaky. As a matter of fact, ex-husband DID call me this morning, but, unless I am suffering dementia, I don't think I mentioned it on Babble.... did I?
Something is going to strike me dead for asking this but why does he still have your phone number?
No, but TO, obviously has witchy powers!! :)
*Pours a drink for self*
good grief, pour me one as well, a nice strong one
been a day:(
wrong consonant, lil.

Hi Crossy
I think I may have explained my 'magic phone' to you before, Molly. Not even the prospect of random calls from ex-husbands is enough to forego my magic phone.
howdy, Lillian:))
LOL TO...just got it:D
Two words then, call blocking.
To, i thought you were giving me a clue at first
!Clinks glasses with Crossy...that bad eh?
Two other words...voice mail.
In case anybody reading the Chog thinks I'm a witch ... magic phones etc.... I have a cell phone that doesn't cost me anything. It's a glitch, I'm not a witch. It's great.
Again, going to be struck dead (and pours another drink for self) but WHAT do you have to talk to this guy about?
Nowt wrong with being a witch...as in a white witch
Oy MOlly, nevermind keep pouring yourself one, what about the rest of us...this seems to be a dry bar!!
*Pours another round for the whole bar*
He calls on an 'unknown number'. I answer. Then I hang up.
I wish i had a free mobile...:(
Are you sure it's him? as i get that all the time, as in people phone and not talk and i put the phone down
*Thanks God, His Mother and all the saints* I thought you were still conversing with Mr. Low Life.
omg re 8 has me giggling
There is something not right about that word, TO.
I know To, what a stupid word!!
I;m not lookingup the definition, that's for sure.
Apparently it's to do with bats
There are emergency room stories about re8. : P
That's what someone said on here earlier
Feeling very left out with no RE8 word. Clue please...
LOL, that's bad Molly!!:)
re8 is back end and rodent
o.O
re6/27 for the win,please, alex.
I don't have that one yet TO, sorry, but will look...i don't have many re words
Lovely clue, Lil, thank you.
my friends are just back from two weeks in ireland.
How did they get on, TO, (apart from being washed out)?
re6/27 sounds like sparkly thing sewn on a dance costume
TO, re and word for 4, when born
Word for when born???
ty, mollly and lil. i do not know soods, i may see them tomorrow
well, time to go see about dinner, i neglected to remove something from the freezer.
Husband is over in ireland with people from over the pond next week i think Soodle, or it could be the week after, he'll be doing England, Ireland and Scotland
I said, word for 4 when born...
hello
*Totally lost*
Wtg TO and tc hin :D
I really hope they had a good time, TO. I feel stupidly responsible if people pay a hat of money to come over here and then don't enjoy themselves. Riverdance is coming nest month, and I am beside myself,
Fi6 clue please?
2, are twins..3 are triplets...4 are qu4
Hi Mlf
I love that phrase: beside myself :)
loo break:)
hi lillian
will you get together? I hought spring in ireland is always rainy
anybody have it?
Thanks Peri. You could have pointed out that I said 'nest' month. I'm really going to do my best to ensure Riverdance has a good experience here. I may lure more Babblers across the Atlantic..
Soodles, I did not see the typo. I read it as next
What is there "not to enjoy"? It is a beautiful country, surrounded by sea, full of green and wonderful people (Not to mention sacred sites).
:-) Peri
I'mcoming too {I wish]

there is no fir4/6

I think it depends on what you are going to see. I could be a very happy person visiting Ireland in the rain and despite the harsh economic times.
maybe after my son finishes college?
It's not so harsh in a pub with Celtic music

Hi Sue :)
hi lilli!

And trust me, this country has had it's fair share of hard economic times. Other than the well provided for, there is the same money trouble, home loss, job loss and all around hard times here.
FW hagn all see you'all tomorrow
how about th Fi 5 above the last 4?
same up here in the great white north. I know many people that once had a nice office white collar job. Now they are fighting college and university students for Mcjobs to pay the mortgage

GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY1 Once again, for the gazillionth time. If any Babbler is coming to Ireland, I will accommodate you. I will feed you. I will transport you. Sheesh...
Yay!!WTG Bichon!! :)
I would come at the drop of a hat, soodle, and may very well do so as soon as I can afford the airfare :-)
peri still not the right one but thanks i will figure out the last one i need
Right Soodle, I@M COMING NEXT WEEK WHEN THE BAIRN IS AWAY:)
Believe me, when myself, hubby and the bairn come to Ireland you won't want to feed them:D
Lili.... go for it!!! We will have a blast, take a load of pics and drive the other babblers mad, and we will have a hoot"!
I am feeling very stuck with 58 left - did find the 8 on my own, though :-)
It's sounds very tempting Soodle....
uusue i have86 left and am stuck
And Sue...... there is always going to be a welcome on the mat for you and Frank.
ok, 57 now that I noticed my dog in the grid...
thanks, soodle! Sooner or later we will show up :-)

FW, bye for now
Yay! Wtg Peri!! :D
yay peri! and bye...
Sue, after you've visited Soodle you and Frank are welcome here...Free holidays....what's not to like :)
? Why would that "drive the other Babble players mad" ??
Flights out and spending money, is all that's needed:)
sounds good, lilli!
My last post this evening.... It's early April here in Ireland. The daffodils are absolutely everywhere. The sun doesn't go down till about 8.00.pm. This is possibly the nicest time of year to visit here. I have 2 spare bedrooms. One double one single. You are welcome.
that goes out to all my Babbler friends :)
Ooo, Le Mansion De Soodle. Five bedrooms. Go on y'all, crash at Soodle's place.
8pm...you're lucky, since the clocks went forward, up here it's been that foggy, you can't tell what time it is.if i could get there next week Soodle, i seriously would
Lil, can yoy
You PM me your details?? We can make this happen.
PM?I seriously have to think about money this month as the bairn is going to her Uncle's down South abd then i've got big bills the end of this month.Leave it with me and maybe the bairn and i could come over Whitsun week.we really do want to come over and i would love to meet you.
yay for lilli and soodle getting together!!
Open invitation , Lil. Whenever's good for you.
fireworks!
Yeah, I'm all for people getting together and having a good time. Not sure why that would drive anyone mad though.
s
The bairn is away in July with her grandad for a couple of weeks but not consecutive, so we may be able to do it then.It will happen Soodle, even if i have to fly over for a weekend and get put in that horrible wheelie chair thing from the plane.i need to look into the easiest thing for me, which would be husband, so maybe October if he is off and he can drive us all
YAY!!WTG Sue! :)
I will meet you this year Soodle, one way or another :)

Hi swmbo and phae
diving in to finish
L and Soodle, sittin' in a tree, having drinks and later some tea.
good evening.
I can't be rude, hi Phan :)
Hi, Lilli!
How's you job going hinny?
today was a better day than yesterday! I had a different group of patients and it was a much easier load. Still, I had to stay late to finish some stuff up... But, I did get to eat at a normal time, which was an improvement over the last 2 days!
Hi, All. Quick visit
In case you didn't know, this was my first week on my own with patients.
Hi, Jaxx
is it me, or this puzzle a toughie?
You'll get into a routine Phan
Hi Jax :)
Yes, it's a pain in the arse!!
Have you finished Jax?
I suppose I will, but it will take awhile as I will be rotating between 3 groups of residents.
That's tough, but if you're working with a group daily and then go onto the next group you will soon know them and remember names
I love it when L calls people hinny
: D
yes, eventually, I will; hoping this is going to end up helping my brain and keep dementia at bay...
You will always remember the ones who make you laugh, angry and the ones that you have a canny relationship with...for me they were the ones who were moody and coulddn't give a monkeys about owt but if you argue back as in give as good back they'll like you
I have 66 left, lilliann
That is true for most people, I think.
I* should really call people 'pet' Molly
61 here Jax
62 for me
Phan, babble and crosswords will keep your brain active.
Or dear, or my beloved, or most darling friend. ♥♥
haha, yeah, but I decided to have a 3rd career!
No, you never call older people those names!!!
Duh!! sorry was reading something else then ..lol
my sister, who is 64, went to a stop smoking clinic where the nurse kept calling her sweet pea. She took it for so lomg and then said i am Mrs owen to you, sweet pea. said nurse apologised for patronising her
I agree with her..up here you can get get away with saying hiiny and pet and even down South or all over the country, i think that those words wouldn't be offensive to any ages
I try to always address my patients Mr. so and so or Mrs so and so. There are a few I use first name with , but only a very few.
You can ask them what they prefer to be called Phan
I always asked, and no-one ever asked me to call them Mr or Mrs
I figure if they want to be called something else, they will tell me...
call them Mr and Mrs first and then ask if there is a name they wish to be asked
Blech. When I was a Mrs. I hated being referred to that way. I prefer people calling me by my first name.
No, they won't all say it, as some are shy
There is always Ms!
Molly, you're not in yourlate 60's70 and older
I am a Ms and I don't like that either. Like I said, I prefer to be called by my first name.
Good golly, Ms. Molly
Phan, you need to ask them up front, what they prefer to be called
Tor's got it : D
I have known my GP for over twelve years and he still addresses me as Mrs Roberts. I address him as Dr King. I wouldn't have it any other way.
I worked with the elderly when i was 16 until i was 23
Jax, that is different.when you care for older people in care homes daily, that is also different
well, I whittled the unfound words down to 44. I think I will take a break, not sure if I will come back or not. This grid is annoying...
It's all in what you prefer. Some people like to be addressed by their "title". I've never called my dentist anything other than his first name. And we have had a 20 year relationship.
I am elderly and I think addressing me by my Christian name takes away my years of experience. I don't want someone years younger than I addressing me as if I am their best buddy
I don't like it when people address me by my first name when they don't know me, and I am not elderly, yet...
As it's like a big family when you work in care homes, as the staff spend more time with the patients than at home and the people like to be called by their first name daily and not their surname
No jax, but you're not in a care home, so i understand where you are coming from
See. everyone has their preference. I am a military brat and I learned young to address cards to my parents friends: Commander and Mrs. So and So. Titles are big in the military.
I think we have to agree to disagree
Ok Phan, so your patients, call you Mrs...
actually, no they don't. I introduce myself by my first name...
My niece and nephew have never called me anything but my first name. "Aunt" felt way too aging when they were born.
and my id badge only has my first name on it.
No L, they call her Nurse Phannie. : D
exactly...that's what i'm talking about...phan...people are taking this conversation way out of context
lol, that's funny Molly. Actually my first name is Jeannette. I assumed my husband's login...
I'm diving in!!
: O Your husband's name is Phand? : O
and I'm diving out. This grid is impossible. Night all tc
No, Phil...
Hand is our last name.
You assumed your husband's log in name? Does he play here?
That's Handy
no, only for a very short period of time.
It is, Tor...
I think he played about a week, had showed me the game and I became addicted.
can I have a clue for the lone I in the 2nd column?
watching Captian Phillips finally
Ih5/14
Good morning all :)
top of the morning to you, Liz
Phan is multi-tasking again.
always
can I have more of a clue for the IH 5/14 pls
Interesting conversation below about names. I always prefer to be called by my first name and always felt that I would've liked that when I was teaching. If I can maintain discipline, it's not down to my name!
ih 5 - ih + male sheep
I can't watch a movie and be on the computer at the same time. I lose the whole context of the film.
thanks. That happens to me sometimes too, Molly.
Respect to me is in the way I'm treated rather than whether I'm called Mrs Ms or my first name.
anyway, I have nbt/nbs so, I am going to pop off now.
I totally agree Liz.
Enjoy your evening, phan.
thanks and you enjoy your day.
Thanks
clues for either an 6 pls?
an's...same first 3 as the ones before. Last part, short for what you sing through, then change the last letter for the next one. Did that make sense?
Perfect sense. Thanks.
Hi Liz:) and i certainly agree, which is why i asked the people what they'd like to be called.i always prefer my first name.
Ty Molly
Hi Lilli. People are funny about names - I don't mean that rudely. As a teacher I always tried to find out what the kids preferred to be called. I always preferred Liz and still do. Only very few people call me by my full name.
Duh me! Had the Latin plural of the ar 4 but hadn't added the s!!!
When I was married, I never got into the "Mrs" thing. I don't want to be identified or referred to by someone else's name.
I suppose as a teacher, your supposed to be called Miss, Ms, Mrs, Mr, that's how we were brought up and also to say Mr Mrs, etc for our elders but as i know caring for my elders they don't all likie to be called that, but i will say mr or mrs etc to an elder person i don't know out of respect until they tell me otherwise
Same here lilli, unless I'm introduced by the first name but I'll usually tell someone to call me by my first name.
Know what you mean Molly.
Did you keep your own name when you were married Molly?
No, actually I did not keep my last name. There are reasons for that (too long to get into here) I'm just not big on "Mrs."
So you still have your husbands name but called M
I also changed my name. When my hubby and I flew to Aus on holiday, the airline thought we were not together, even though we booked together, and separated us! We got them to change it but glad that we don't have to have that fight again!
I have always used Ms, if a "title" is required.
Separated - gave us seats apart from each other!
Ms,...sorry, if so nowt wrong with that, by the way
I always used Ms when teaching.
I think my husband would like seats apart from me and the bairn Liz :)
And i would like seats apart from them :)
Lol - it was my first trip to Aus! Long flight!
I still carry my deceased husband's last name. I would like to go back to my maiden name, but haven't been in the mood for all the paperwork that would entail.
But you could still use it unofficially - if you ever have the need.
I'm sorry about your husband Molly.Would it be that much paper work?when i got divorced i went back to my maiden name and it wasn't that hard, so i can't think it would be that different to a deceased husband/wife and i'm sorry by the way
Might be different in the US?
Sorry, that sounds so callous!!
It's not the changing it, it's changing it on all the official paperwork. Deed to the house, credit cards, etc.
Do you have to pay for that?
Perhaps when you're in the mood it will happen. Depends how much you're bothered by it - and that's not meant to sound callous either!!
Lawyers are never free......
I think you have to pay to have your name legally changed if it's not a change by marriage. I don't know. I'll do it when the time seems right.
Amen Brandyjack, not free, very pricey.
Here too.
here too!
Well, you'll know the time Molly :)
This grid is fighting all the way to the end. 4 left!
so good golly Ms. Molly?
Hi Ru
Hi Brandy :)
Hi Ru:0

And te and tr and tu
I can try and make the clues clearer if you'd like.

But it rhymes with it!
Add an extra vowel
when you have a sore throat, your voice is ho 6
ty
yw
I didn't have the ho 6, but do now, ty
: D It's okay Liz. I know how you folks like your extra "u's". We started leaving them out to make our English different once we decided to be independent from "the crown". : D
I know! Anything to be different!
I now have all the 7's tyvm Liz :)
I always feel happy, when I remember to look for the US spellings of words like rigour in the grid!
Well apparently we are thought of by some as "lazy" but that is just a matter of opinion, I would expect.
yw lilli - and with that I'll say enjoy your evenings / nights.
No, I don't consider it lazy - just different!
I have to remember to drop vowels in the grid
I can't keep track of the different spellings. Colour, yes...actour, no...litre, yes...sobre, no...it's so confusing.
Good night hin and t c and i was going to say sweet dreams but as it is your day time, sweet afternoon :D
we say actor
That's what I meant, L. Some of your words have the extra u, some do not. Some have an re ending, some do not.
I know...i'm British and i get confused!! :)
I don't understand the English Language, and it's difficult fot our children to be able to spell it and say it without other people form other countries be able to do it
I must admit the Northern people in England say a word how it should be spelt and not how it is, where as down South, they say it as it is spelt
It's the same with any language. French for example, what a trip that language is to learn.
French is easier than English...plus some Spanish and Italian words are similar
I suppose English is easy as we speak it
Oh I disagree. French is hard because so many English words don't translate.
I think any language is difficult to learn when we get older...languages are alot easier for children from 2 onwards to learn
Well yeah, but most of us don't grow up in multi-lingual homes.
really, i always found French quite easy....there are words that aren't quite the same but they do translate
My husband was a French speaker and I can't tell you how many times he told me that something in English I wanted to say in French "didn't translate". As in, there are no French words for that.
That doesn't mean that children have to live in Multi -lingual homes...children from 2 upwards will learn languages quickly if taught in schools
Aye,he was right as not all Frwench translates properly in English but you get the idea when you speak it...it's the same in sign lang language..not every word is signed but the recipient gets the gist
Only being the speaker of one language, I would find it confusing to be multi-lingual. I used to ask the friends of my son who spoke Spanish and English what language they dreamed in.
Maybe both Molly, but what a dream!!
i have dreamt in French before....
sometimes i think of a word or an expression in French and have trouble coming up with an English equivalent...
The most consistent answer I got was "It depends on what I'm dreaming about". If they were dreaming about their parents, who spoke Spanish, the dream would be in that language. If they were dreaming about their friends, English.
It's got to be hard for multi lingual people who speak 2 languages properly. i only speak French a petit peu(?), i understand more than i can remember to speak
Saying that, last year when i went to Spain with my husband i spoke more French than Spanish as there were more french in the hotel than in the resort, and the French people knew what me and hubby were saying
i have spoken French to people in Germany and China of all places...
French is a good language to learn
i grew up with it...parents spoke it at home and i had it in school from first to tenth grades...
My daughter is taking Spanish next year and dropping French
well more people in the world speak Spanish than French....i took two years of Spanish in college.....going to Spain next March...
My Parent's live in France and have done for the last 23 years and want all their grand bairns to learn it, but it's upto them
Where did you grow up pen?
in Maine....Franco American city...
Really? my husband and i thought she should do French as that is spoken more? we've been to countries that speak spanish but not quite.
So your Parent's were Spanish?
Or French?
French....French Canadian grandparents on both sides....
Me and husband have family in Canada...one day i would love to meet them
hi all, running and hiding from the apostrophe police LOL
whereabouts in Canada?
hi gwen...
Well, the bairn wants to take Spanish so we can't stop her and if it helpd her do what she want's in life then that's her decision
Hi Gwen and Pen
yes, language study should be a personal decision....otherwise it's a waste of time...
i am now taking Chinese....for fun...
i studied german, way cooler than french or spanish, IMO
French is such a beautiful language...Je parle un peu de francais.
She wants to train guide dogs for the blind
Spanish is much more practical here in Arizona. I speak un poquito.
((Mimi)) .Bonjour
I also studied German for two years in College.....i have enjoyed all the languages....
((lilliann))...mon ami!
Really Pen, that is brilliant...My daughter wanted to take Mandrin at at School but there wasn't enoughh people who wanted to do it sadly
Sending you an email, probably tomorrow. Have been thwarted in my attempt to send you something...anyway...look for em tomorrow.
learning chinese just might come in handy; more than 1 billion people speak chinese . . .
well there are only three other people in my Mandarin class....
i have no real reason to take it other than to exercise my brain....have already been to China and couldn't justify the expense of going back...
Ok Mimi :).x
plenty of places in US where chinese is spoken, all the so-called chinatowns
Studying a language teaches you so much about a culture. Often, the way they use language is the way they live their lives. For example, Japanese is a very formal language and, for the most part, the Japanese culture is a "formal" one.
I think Mandrin would be the best language to take and she can take it now buit she doesn't want to
Was it expensive going there Pen?
Gotta go have some dinner. Hugs, all!
i get a kick out of the plural, which English has and Chinese doesn't (so I've heard). wonder how hard it is for someone who grew up speaking Chinese to really get plurals
Night Mimi, catch up soon :).x
i went in 1981....very nice deal because i was a chaperone for a college class....had to be invited to go in those days...
i would think that mastering plurals would be easier than for us to master tones... ;o)
My husband has driven alot of Chinese around...they come her to shop not sightsee
when i went to china there were very few cars even in Beijing....everyone wore mao jackets in either green, grey or blue.....only young children wore colorful clothes...different era...
They buy expensive things but sell them fort alot more over in China.\t
They buy expensive things but sell them fort alot more over in China.\t
i believe it....whole different economy there now...
we drew crowds of several hundred people in Xian because we had tall students, redheads, and African American students with us....
They come over with food in suitcases and take expensive things that they buy here on a card and sell it for more there
I bet you did Pen :)
i once learned simple song in Chinese, sat down with a chinese immigrant to have him help me with the tones, and invented a couple of symbols to do the tones, and after not much practice, he said I sounded really good 8-)
:)
nice...
My husband doesn't like the spitting!!
don't remember any of that...
spitting? that's not required, I'm sure . . . LOL
Yes, they spit and make noises doing it!..bless him, he has to clear it up!
well, i suppose there are people in every culture who spit . . . even Murricans . . .
When he's driving and there are Eastern people behind him, they snort, spit and cough all over his neck!!
ewwwwww!
Exactly Gwen...not nice...
some needs to build himsefl a big neck guard
Aye, i think you're right, but saying that anyone behind him can cough and sneeze, but a guard would be good
He should turn around and piss..on them
just like the sneeze guard on a salad bar
Ewwwwwww
ROFL...
Ru, give over man, i just choked on my drink!!
pissing on the customer might just jeopardize the tip (if there's tipping)
Gwen..lol
:D
better yet, ejector seat!
Yes his job is more tips!!
Gwen obviously hasn't eaten at any french restaurants lately
once, when i worked a hellish job at a restaurant, we had a customer who was just heinous, so, in middle of the night, we dumped a nice little pile of restaurant garbage on his porch. ahhhhhh
did I hear french restaurant??
LOL trust Doren to pop in for food! *relurk*
I think he could do with an ejector seat and then let the people who think they can drive a coach drive it and crash it and then see waht they say!!
Lol...soon my dear
Good for you Gwen!!:)
very soon. I am dieting in anticipation!
and i really wasn't lurking, just popped in, as the lurker said
Hi Dorens:)
Sure..
hi lil, an dall
or and all
then the customer called the next day to complain, and i happened to have the early morning shift (yes, after the late late night shift, bastards) and got to field his phone call. oh, i cated so innocent LOL
cated = acted
Hi Stid:) great to see you
Stid, do you know when your'e getting into your home?
now you see her, now you don't
Saying that, if you worked in a restaurant and some pissed you off you spit onm their food and allsorts and they wouldn't know!!
I'm never eating out again!! :)
omg...spelling crap....
i never went so far as to contaminate anyone's food, but i saw a manager do it once. Ewwwwww!
no idea, lilliann -- not this month, for sure. Maybe May...
may would be nice… very exciting? or nerve wracking?
impossible. Our rent on the apartment just went up. We now pay twice in rent what our mortgage will be if the house is ever finished. And we are paying the interest on the construction loan already.
oh no, sounds like a nightmare
Stid, i really hope it is May, as you've all been waiting a very long time. and i'm so sorry about your rent, do you not have insurance that covers it?
not fun.
so sorry you have to go through that
<---always nice at restaurants
done here… happy babbling all.
The insurance would have stopped paying by now. It has been more than a year. And they only paid rent as long as they thought a replacement should take, which is, clearly, a lot less time than it is taking.
But then, we decided to replace with site-built instead of a manufactured home.
YAY doren!!!
night doren
Yay Dorens , sweet dreams and tc hin :)
time to make dinner.. see ya
So your insurance still covers you i take it?
What are you making RU?
I'm peckish
we are still paying insurance, we now have construction insurance AND homeowners AND renters... covering ALL the bases. Just in case.
It obviously costs more but better to have as you now know
yep. without insurance we would have literally lost everything, including the land. With it, we still have a home, even if we aren't currently living there. I really advocate for people carrying insurance.
how are you lilliann?
I hope you can move in before May...some contractors will just string it along!.You all deserve your 'Own home' again, so hopefully sooner than later.
I'm sending quick building vibes and all the best vibes to you and your family Stid:)
be back in a few, going to throw some food in the oven
I'm doing alright ty..missing hubby and 14/15 year old bairn doing what she does :)
I wish people would stop talking about food, i'm peckish!!
oh, kids! they are never around when you need them...
thanks lilliann. :-) I am impatient. But now that it is Spring I am able to be there more often.
I will spend nearly every day there next week, working in the yard. Really looking forward to working in the yard. The fruit trees are in bloom!
Good, so you can push them to finish!! You all need your own home now
Lovely, there's nowt like working ion your own garden
yes. I will have some help from a teenage friend, too. She wants pocket money, and Grant doesn't have the same spring break as I do so he isn't available.
i'm watching heat, which is a music apparently but we have hd now and i've just seen a video with miley, how white are her teeth??!!
That's nice, plus she'll learn something and may like gardening at the end of it Stid
*channel
I am glad I got to see you tonight. I am tired, though, so will bid you all bonne nuit with 82 to go. Have a wonderful weekend, all! *poof*

as you may know. i have a job i started in august.. i was on probation cause of new hire.. today was told to count on being back next year!
which means.. certified state employee = job for life.
hooray for cosdem!
only firable offense is if i hurt a kid. which will never happen.
Great news, cos ! Is this the job as a room monitor with young people ?? I'm sort of behind on your news !
you're in water purification, are you? (i forgot)
dorm supervisor for deaf kids
40 hours, full benefits, retirement etc etc. so this is a big deal for me
That is great, and I'm sure you'll be very good at what you do .... awesome !
5% raise every year. and the pay is already good. so I am so relieved. A career!
congratulatory HUGS , from me !
my evaluation was today. above expectations.
sounds way better than water purification 8-)
Wtg Gwen!!
its a fun job. i play legos, sit outside, watch tv, and put kids to bed.
And Yay for Cos for keeping your job and all the benefits :)
half my time is spent watching tv while the kids are asleep, doing homework or showering.
you speak sign language and all that?
Good job to have Cos :)
oops, gotta run, dinner is done. congrats again cos!
Bye Gwen, tc hin
thanks i needed to tell someone lol
I just re-read the chat, and i ditto Gwen's post at 11.04...do you sign?
If I was your mom, I'd be very PROUD !
yes I do. I kinda have to ;) .. diane ill callher tomorrow its too late now
Do the children sign?
I know that cos does sign :-)
I dont get off til 915pm
Ahh, ok :)
i lip read but don't sign
the deaf kids sign. the blind kids dont. lilli. im deaf myself so yeah i sign :)
colorado school for the deaf and the blind. it celebrates its 140th year this year!
I gathered that after the 11.07 post.
the founder's grandson was lon chaney, jr.
i'm deaf because of menieres which is why i lip read
ahh its genetic for me but i lip read very well and can speak if i know you well enough :) but mostly sign. i do speak at home to hubby though but he signs to me
I have a partially deaf granddaughter, who had meningitis at age 3. She wears hearing aids, is now 29 and the mommy of my sweet little great granddaughter !!
ahh, so you know when someone swears at you :)
oh yeah! lol
awww i miss my hearing aids. i lost them in the move. need to buy them. sadly insurance does not cover it.
I have 2 hearing aids and i must admit i don't wear them very often as it is too noisy for me and then i hear certain pitches and tones which make me dizzy because of the menieres
when I wear them my lip reading accuracy goes to 80-85%. without its like 50%
re 6/27 any hints?
re +q4
It
It
sorry
tyvm
it lives!
With Menieres, your hearing goes up and down so one week i can hear better in one ear so the hearing aid doesn't help or it's too much and then another week it's not enough.
I didn't realize how much i did lip read until i went on a course a few years ago, but as you obviously know Cos, it's different with certain ....i'm thinking of the word...bare with me..
different accents as words are said differently
I'm sorry about your hearing aids Cos
Sorry, i've been going on there and i sound like a right bitch
Lil, you are either up VERY late, or very early !
Both Diane
ha ha :-)
I think I once read that you were from either Yorkshire or Durham ?? It's not in your profile any more.
Because of disabilities i tend to stay up late as i sleep through the day, but not every day
Durham
My grandmother came from Durham and I still have some second cousins there !
i should go to bed now as i have one of my neices coming later today but my bairn will be getting up for school in an hour so i'll finish this grid and get her breakfast
Grandma came to Canada in 1911 I think it was.... Granddad came two years earlier, and he was from Yorkshire.
I have family in Canada but we're not close and i can't remember where
Have a power nap then and sweet dreams !
Where in Durham Diane?
They are from my Mam's side who are from Northumbria
Grandma was born in a little village named Bishopton, and I have relatives in Darlington and Red Marshall.
I know Darlington..i'll have to look up Bishopton
Grandma was a Thompson ..... and my maiden name was Murgatroyd . :-)
i don't know red Marshall either
I'm not originally from up here
Anyhow, you'd better get to bed.... it was nice chatting. I'm off to bed too...9:30 p.m. here
i have 16 left so have to finish
i'll stop up now and get the bairn's breakfast
It's been nice chatting to you to Diane, Sweet dreams! :)
