hahahaha nah, that is a good thing. Of course you are tired, it was a huge job. And you pulled it off. If you are still in little pain tomorrow and not much nausea, I'd say you gouged your stamina pretty accurately.
step-daughter behaved herself...and everyone was so willing to step in and help. the hostess at the function rooms was marvellous. nothing was too much for her to attend to.

pugs, pics coming from all over. i had no time for taking pics. i was kept reasonably busy circulating, making sure people were introduced to each other. and making sure food was handed around. the three eldest nephews were a delight. did what ever i asked of them,. i am so proud of them.

I had an amazing surgeon, hospital, children, etc.
I had total hip replacement surgery, puglet, on April 9.

Had what is called anterolateral approach which spares muscles. They had me standing 6 hours after surgery. No weight-bearing restrictions, no movement restrictions. Home after three days.

I feel like a sports car that got an after-market suspension! Turns out I had dysplasia in that hip, as well as bone-on-bone athritis. So my new equipment is better than the original (;

melon, i am so looking forward to when i can have mine done. both hips are so sore after 1-2 hours on my feet. it seems to have become worse since this last lot of knee surgery.
Up and down with the kid. Staying at his dad's, about a mile away. Staying sober, but also sleeping 12 hours a day. Didn't hear from him for a few weeks. Now we talk every day, so I think he may be turning a corner. He's safe, at the very least.

Oh, my granny! As it happens, all my knee pain was referred pain from the hip. Amazingly, my left ankle felt better after the operation (which was the right hip!).

Oh, this dance class is all about dancing-and going home. Alone. Without really working at it one way or the other, I've become this happy single woman, and I can't imagine doing anything that would upset my contentment.
My biggest worry with my son recently has been that the way he is now will be his new baseline. Not working, isolated, sleeping too much. I see small signs of improvement, and this gives me hope.

yep, but its waiting for the xrays that is causing the delay now, I have a date for the op, but they may not have the xrays in time...only one place in the county do them and only appointment was 6 days before op date, it takes 10-14 days to get them to the consultnt!

It's a joke in my family that whatever I like will be discontinued...products, TV shows, restaurants....
frog, only coffeee used is to soak italian sponge fingers, no alcohol, and mascopone cheese to die for...once you start licking the plate you can't stop. it isn't too sweet or too heavy.

That taxi driver had us from the airport to central new york in about 5 minutes, I swear! He was barmy!

And we stayed in an immensely posh hotel just off of Times Square, right by Broadway. So amazing to see the massive limousines in the evening pulling up outside the theatres. And we went walking round NYC at about midnight and the shops were all open, the people so friendly - nothing like you hear in the news. Such an amazing metropolis
NYer's are friendly people. Did you stay at the Marquis? I love that hotel. Do they still have that lovely brunch?

My daughter's partner of 12 years has just lost his father, my grandson's paternal grandfather. The funeral is tomorrow. said partner has just decreed that only Ashley can be in the funeral procession, leaving my daughter and Ashley's halfsister with no transport. he says they are not immediate family. What would do, if anything?

If I may interject.......it sounds like he is concerned about old traditions,and not being spiteful..and grieving people often don't make the decisions they otherwise would...I would just arrange for transport and leave it alone

We are going for the other grandmother's sake and taking Julie and Jess. She is a lady and treats my grand-daughter as she does her other grandchildren. Simon by the way is an only child with an uncertain temper and a drinking habit.

When my natural father died, I was 9 years old, and his family decreed my mom (divorced) and half-brother could not sit in the "family" section at the funeral. They insisted that I sit there however. My mom told me she weighed the importance of me being with my father's family versus her inclination to keep me with her. I had to sit with my father's family, and I remember feeling a bit abandoned, wishing I could sit with my mom. I wish people would just honor other's presence in the lives of loved ones.
kalea may be your best bet here, jaxx. My instinct is to have a smooth funeral and remove whatever is causing a problem in that regard. I do not get into the political/ family/ no family undercurrent of it all. People should just be allowed to honor the person who has passed. Soap operas are for tv. in real life, people get hurt

when we had my M.I.L's funeral my wife had executor duties suddenly and unexpectedly thrust upon her at the sudden death of her elder brother. The entire family on her side began to circle like vultures over a fresh kill. I helped my wife cut through the crap, the hate, politics whatever. We just did EXACTLY what her mum had in the will. to the letter. Let the rest of them bleat like sheep

thanks bugs-- happy day to you too. The house is getting there. Tom and Grant are tiling the shower, I am sick again, I think I ate too soon after being sick on Friday.

well, I was pretty happy to get a lot done in the house this weekend. Once the tile is done (as far as we have tile) I will grout this evening around the area where the plumber needs to install things tomorrow or Tuesday. Then we can go home and I can sleep in a little tomorrow because I don't have to be at school until 10.
