Hi Crossy
howdy liz:)
Go back to sleep, man!
He means it has a feline beginning
just one of those nights, liz. The mind is churning and sleep eludes me for now.
Find words then! I hate nights like that.
Nothing really .. It's a made up word I've been using for years .. It derives from "Torgo" a character in the movie "Manos, The Hands of Fate"
oh.. okay.. thanks
it is interesting, sometimes, to find the history behind babble names
...and Ithought you were talking about this game...
we are ...erda ... and the characters in it

I always thought it had to do with the Tom Servo robot, Tor

Sleep well, jbp.
Good to see you again - even briefly.

Great clue. Found it immediately. Thanks.

thanks Jeanne, finally have the ca8

g'day blueheron
good morning
{{hugs}} ruby
{{rosie}}
I think my son my be coming to Australia -- he and his ife are talking about 3 or 4 major trips because he's in the process of quitting his job!!!!
I don't know if he's read me his bucket list, or if he's serious. And, of course, no idea of where or when.
ooh, you're in the grid! Where'll be a big party in the PB in your honor!
just keep me in the loop, ruby. if he needs a sponsor, please put him in touch with me
he drives me crazy, but what he does is none of my onions (as the French say). Hopefully he's coming to see his old mother in September
ruby, how many offspring do you have? and where in the world are they?
I only have 50 yr old John Reed (and his wife, Denise). Burt has 3 children, 5 grands and 3 great-grands but is only in touch with Lisa, the one who is coming next week
John is in TX, Lisa in California, other daughter and grand kids in NY and son and more grandkids in Hawaii
oh, that is too sad for burt. but hey, you only had to handle one teen boy, lucky you!!...lol
And Burt is only in contact with her because I write to her and send her tickets.
he is getting increasingly strange. With your experience with your mother andDon's, is it better to help them remember, to push them a little bit, or to let everything slide?
i hope this question doesn't hurt you too much. burt's first wife?? is she still alive??
all 3 of his previous wives (!!!) are alive but I couldn't care less
He can barely remember their names without prompting
according to medical research, mental stimulation does seem to help a lot. perhaps if you google it?? but understanding where you are....hmmmm..perhaps it would be better to continue this line of conversation via email?
okay, I'm just so pressed for time these days, I can barely come up for air
egad!!! 3 wives!!!! i am absolutely gob-smacked.
bluebeard
yeah!!! * wonders what the defect is in burt's persona*
let me count the ways! lol
good morning all
{{hugs}} sprite....and xxxxx too
*hugs rose*
{{sprite}}
sprite has met Burt, so knows that he can be charming
hm it wasn't the charming bit that touched me, but his vulnerability and the hurt he carries inside.
*hugs ruby*
yeah, i know, ruby...but i am not going to denigrate sprite's observatory powers. but i have 'picked' flaws in other people so often. maybe it because i have been taught to be so observant as a nurse.
a life of ptsd isn't a bad start either, though
i can see when it is a male pretending to be female so much earlier than others in the group, and vice versa.
sprite is much more sensitive than I. Day-to-day, the whole thing gets very tiresome
yeah, sprite, ptsd does make you super-sensitive. i know that for a fact.
ruby, it is a helluva job to care for Burt, no matter what his issues are.
of course it does, ruby. and that is why sprite and i are in your life...to help you through the rough and tough times.
anything at all evil, overbearing, manipulative in a person and I know from the start. Alas.
If I let myself be too sensitive, I couldn't go on. I try to inure myself to his nastiness when it happens and just walk away and pretend nothing happened
He is totally passive-aggressive and I'm sure, when his daughter arrives next week,h'ellbe a different person for those 10 days
it's difficult to live with, isn't it sprite? you want to stand on the highest place and scream the truth...but others feelings have to be considered..
and our ruby is a little fire eater, feisty and vibrant but maybe not very patient. And even a bit of sharpness or impatience makes Burt panic inside and act out or fully withdraw. It is a hard combination, especially now that he is so old and unchangeable.
sprite, how was your night, dearest?
having said that, I also realise that in a few days of visiting, I cannot have seen it all or judged it to its worth!
yesterday, I finally told him to stop wallowing in his regrets, try to look at how healthy he is and how lucky to be here That his very visible sadness and self-blame only makes it worse for me.
He shaped up a little bit after that, but it didn't last
rotten, rose. Dreamt of vampires, for crying out loud. No idea where that came from.
awww, sprite...nasty!!
in those words, ruby?
yes, but maybe he needed to hear it.
we all hae our own crosses to bear and I've surely had my share but there's no point in going on and on
lol yeah, it was nasty. Imagine... living in a camper. Having a small child to keep safe. Strong men around me to help fight the beasts. Camper reinforced all around plus the bottom, they said. Yeah. They forgot the top.
do you watch vampire or zombie movies, sprite? If yes, don't!
hopefully, ruby...just give him time to absorb what you said...if still no impact, repeat...sometimes it takes quite a few repitions to impact
no, didn't, ruby, at all, lol. My dreams often come out of the blue.
oh, sprite...*sending angels to protect sprite and her children*
I have often found that when you want people to hear you about things they should change about their behaviour, you need to build a bit of rapport first. If they don't feel safe, they tend to keep everything out just for protection.
I incorporate actors and actresses from TV and films and frequently I'm not even in them. It's very pleasant, but I never rembmer them
lol yes rose. Plus windows that kept unlocking and doors that were not closed, while I did check them just before. All the basic ingredients for a nightmare. Very tiring.
I know Burt can't change, but I am sick of hearing the same old sh**
well at least i have stopped dismembering my mother...* sigh *
yeah you can leave that to the worms now, rose, lolol.... or the fire, not sure.
worms are good...
sorry sweetie, if that was too insensitive. I know how she put you down all the time, so I am not very friendly towards her ;)
like the thought of them wriggling through her brain...
finally something decent alive there?
ugh, sprite...you win, hands down...
stop, I'm only phobic about worms, aside from the monster spider in the sink
*hugs rose*
aw poor ruby! How are your dogs doing?
ohhh, sorry ruby...maggots give me the heebies, not worms..
oh me too. I once had this garbage bag that I had to carry down to the disposal, when I was still living in a flat. And halfway there I felt something slither over my hand... yeah right.
I don't mind worms in the garden, but in the house.....ack
i have just seen that the insurgents have just beheaded an american journalist...i am wondering how america is going to react to that.
but THAT spider, totally new kind of scared. I googled it and think it was a Tegenaria Gigantea
oh god, rose. How horrible. And... yes. War threatening?
must run, my friends, {{big hug}}
oh, lord...when will this all stop?? i see mothers and fathers grieving for their children...it breaks my heart.
bye ruby *hug*
Sunny days, Smell of roses,Chocolates, Hugs,Happiness,Friends...Sorry just counter-balancing the horrible words in the grid.
enjoy your lunch, dear ruby
In chog* Rather.
{{zooz}} thanx for that. you are so right..
hiya zooz :) *hug* Great words you have there. I know another one: zooz.
*grin* agreees with sprite
oops!! * agrees *
Aww thanks..gosh it has got hot in here *opens window*
ugh that is some spider!
oh, and sprite? eat your heart out....we are having osso bucco again tonight...maybe when we are over there i could cook it for all of you.
back for a minute, it's earlier than I thought.
{{zzoozz}}
lolol, ruby
sprit, has your weather improved? We've had several days of cool sunshine with the only rain happening at night
am jealous, lol. Rain, rain rain here
awesome, rose :)
*fans zooz* feeling better mate??
After this very rainy summer, it is a pleasure to have some sunshine, even if it'scold. Sleeping under the duvet again
sprite, will bring my recipe over with me...
yeah I was cold tonight, without a duvet.
please do, rose, darling. Or email it, we can print it out here.
oh, oh, oh...and my first tulip has shown it's leaves...i am so excited...
Ossobuco is a tasty dish for sure.
((Ruby))
oh, ruby, I am not afraid of spiders. But I think I would be afraid of that one!
he was almost as big as my hand and was much too active
yay for the tulips
nasty spider, ruby....
I didn't get a good enough look to make a positive ID (like the witnesses in the police programs lol), but it wasn't a wolf spider or a tarantula as it wasn't hairy
zooz, have you made an appointment with the health institute?
sprite, will send pics if they are worthy to see.
ok rose! Cool!
No not yet, Sprite..can't be bothered at the moment..lol maybe sometime next week :-)
do it now, zooz, lovely man. You may have to wait anyway.
Sorry, Sprite, phone went..Yes true they are slow over here so will take some time..lol
it is hard to make that first step, isn't it. *hugs* But important.
okay, IBS is playing up...sorry. trying to catch up
poor rose
zooz, health institute...just what are you putting off?
Sorry ladies I did write a rather lengthy response..but it got swollowed by the bloody babble freeze..but in a nutshell..been before..not get on with person with her sharpness..told doctor hence why I was put on tablets (time when I was being silly)..Rose do not want to find I am seeing another cold person and then doctor thinking i am taking the piss.
if it is a cold person, you just tell them politely it does not click with them and to please assign you another person. And you were never silly, zooz. Don't sell yourself short, you were suffering badly then.
awww, zooz. that is the last thing you need...a 'cold' medical professional. please ask them for another consultant.
you may find you will be seeing a warm and caring person, zooz, imagine that :)
and then...lol...please see sprite's response..
zooz, you talk to sprite, you talk to me...we are soul sisters..she says what i want to say, and visa versa.
lol
we are like socks, we come in a matched set
xoxox sprite...
luvu, rose!
haha yes you never know. I am thinking if I can just get a job then maybe I will be OK and get on with my life. And stop being a wimp.
lol...yeah, sprite is the toe, and i am the heel..roflol
A good combo then, rose :)
and contrary to most socks, our roles can be reversed
oops left out your nose..try again... :-)
*burst of laughter* luv you sprite.
zooz, stop it, please. You are never a wimp. Depression is a serious illness, and won't be cured by finding a job. Get that help, and please call them now to make an appointment. You can stop it at any time, you know.
*ditto* zooz...please listen to sprite.
*mumble mumble stupid enable* I keep entering 'etage', which is french and dutch for floor (of a building). And the reason I keep thinking it should be valid is because you DO have 'etagere'.
When I am here (home) I feel like on top of the world even round parents I feel great..to see me and hear me I am fine (hence why parents do not understand what's up) but when outside I hate it so much I am always looking around thinking people are staring at me..lol what the hell is all that about..lol
OK have had enough of this negativity back to the grid for me :-)
((Rose)) ((Sprite)) thanks for listening :-)
sounds to me like you are an ideal candidate for therapy, zooz. It is not negative, it is what you struggle with in your life and it is a very valid thing. You are not the only one either. So... please get that help? Give it a chance again.
anytime, zooz! *hugs*
fireflies. Rose and zooz, a big *hug* from me. And to you all, a blessed day and a peaceful night.
loving you both...and dinner is ready...catch you at the flip
Congrats, Sprite!
enjoy your meal!
Enjoy your meal, Rose!
snap!
WTG SPRITE!!!! xoxox hun
and zooz, will see you after the flip, mate.
Ok, Rose although I am nearly finished here..So if not..hope to see you soon :-) ((Rose))

teach, have a question for you. What is the name of a river which is named in a JOhn Denver song. It only flows through WV for 20 miles
Shenandoah - not sure if it flows in WV at all - also the Blue Ridge Mountains are in VA not WV
It's a tributary of the Potomac
Just looked it up - yes it is a tributary of the Potomac asnd joins the Potomac at Harpers Ferry which is right on the border out in the eastern panhandle - goes across a small piece of Jefferson County in the eastern panhandle
the Shenandoah?
the song is "Country Roads" and WV just adopted it as oiur 4th official state song
that must be it as there are a lot of tributaries of the Potomace which run in WV
good grief- took me forever to find that en 8.
I haven't even attempted it yes. Hint, maybe Wolvie
what you go thru to get into a building :-)
compound word - use to get into a room / building

hello friends. today is fiona's last day at home. I jumped on here to distract myself from that a little.....and look what it is the top left corner. God has a sick sense of humor sometimes.
howdy trif
It's a good omen Trif
omen #2: Fiona means fa4 in Gaelic....signs EVERYWHERE
is that your daughter going to college then?
yes
fireworks......not a bad grid at all
huzzah for river!!!!
how far away will she be?
congrats to your daughter Trif
about 5 hours drive, teach
Now you can reinvent yourself, Trif...focus on your life and what you want to do. It's terrific...honest.
thanks river! we will wave to you as we buzz through NH tomorrow!
yikes.....mine leaves next week for her last year at college but only 30 minutes away
where is she going to school?
I still have one at home, mimi, and a job....not exactly time to drive across country - yet
University of Vermont, river
I will be waving back Trif
where does your go, river? UNH?
You will be driving up 89 about 15 minutes from my house
no she goes to the NH Institute of Art in Manchester
wow! we will be driving up 89 for HOURS :)
oh how lovely!!! Art, as you know, rules in my home
i do....
she is a photography major
Burlington VT is about 3 hours from my house
its a lovely city, campus, etc. I know she will be happy there. It's easier to be the one for whom everything is new, and different, and exciting
I am off to get breakfast.....have a lovely trip tomorrow Trif.
thanks river! pass me a pop tart, love
Burlington is a great city
just realized, I broke about 11 of my own internet use rules in this conversation....I'm losingit
Oh, pop-tarts, now I'm thinking of Walter Bishops rant in the grocery store on strawberry flavored death. : D
but what a way to go!
The chat box participants will disregard all personal information put forth in this section of chat. Carry on.
that is actually a huge comfort to me, molly....seriously. thank you
I always forget, the chog is eternal
A lot of people forget that.
mmm, strawberry death wrapped in bacon...mmmm
Could I get the stats for the 7's, please?
why can't they just delete it at the end of the day
It's like Vegas, what's said in chat, stays in chat (archives)
anyway....
count for the lone o in the left column please? elusive little monster
whoops, never mind - thanks for psychic clue, whomever....
hy7 x 2, ne7/40, ro7/56

{{hugs}} breathe...its going to be OK
Good morning, fellow homo sapiens!
morning judi
Hello air breather!
(I meant that to be sweet and funny. If it did not come across that way, I apologize)
Feel more Homo nonsapiens today.
Uh oh Jaxx...you OK?
Yes. Just having a tough time with the SS, otherwise known as Social Services.
I'm sorry.
im sorry to hear, jax
Not your fault, ladies. Just my silly daughter who doesn't think before she acts
I could murder her if I didn't suspect they would arrest me
:(
how old is she jaxx?
hello again
and please - although I suspect you know this - don't make that joke to THEM! Trust me, they take a very, very dim view of murder jokes
hi mlf
Still, upwards and onwards as they say. My husband and grandson have gone Carp fishing and left me alone to sort out box after box of rubbish. I decided to play babble instead.
Hi mlf
hi car
Pffth. SS - no sense of humor.
36, going on 2 mentally
Good for you...stay here in Babble Land with us.
AC5?
Forget the sorting, Jaxx. Just toss a match on it.
The beginning of the clinical name for aspirin
AC5minophen
huh?
i will for a while but I know i shall have to tackle them eventually. Preferably before my husband comes back and retrieves most of it as 'It might be useful'. So might I if I felt awake. lol
Oh, I like the match idea even more then....
go for a flame thrower.
He thinks he is going to live forever.
EN 6 clue please?
My husband is much the same, Jaxx. I found some papers in an old broken briefcase the other day. Documents dated to 1994 - including an old checkbook that I"m sure we thought was lost at one point.
Hi, all seeing mlf. Like your icon. Don't have it yet, sorry
ty jaxx

Are they flesh-eating chickens?
no, the chickens. they smell apparently
ty car
<---- throws salt water taffy intead of money.....
of course chickens smell lol
Perhaps crossy might prefer a bacon buttie?
sorry was playing petting the cat
i meant petting
Fear the chicken!
We have 8 bantams in two houses that are kept clean. They give us lovely brown eggs that are small, granted, but taste delicious.
mmm, bacon. Stuff has been too expensive here for many months now ($6.00 = tax for a pound of bacon) then last week I saw it on "sale" for $4.99 and got all excited until I saw they had reduced the package size from 500g to 375 g and i mean in all brands. the all changed package size together. how conveinient
+tax*
Time to start raising your own pigs, Crossy.
One of the brown bantams has become broody and attacks anything in sight. We watch as she fluffs up her feathers and rushes at the resident crow which is twice her size.
Well, what will happen is supply and demand. if nobody buys it they will get an overload of pigs and have to rethink the pricing
so, they are more pets than anything?
Have you tried ordering it online?
Please stop talking about food. On liquid diet today in prep for colonoscopy tomorrow.
Not ideal but maybe able to find it cheaper.
Yes. I love chickens. they provide us with endless amusement although the brown bantam has to kept an eye on when gathering the eggs. She thinks she is hen the Giantkiller
Oh Judi...sorry. Good luck my dear.
carry a spray bottle with you.
ugh, judi. did you have to drink a gallon of that horrid peglyte solution in preperation?
Sorry, Judi. We will stop talking about food now.
for the chickens...not the colonoscopy....
hahaha
For s second there i thought the chickens were getting a colon oscopy!
damn keyboard!
Glad you explained that, car. I must admit I was wondering what Judi would need a spray bottle for. The mind (on a go-slow today) boggled
No,Crossy. Apparently the prep has evolved. Two OTCC laxative pills, then OTC powdered (unflavored) Miralax mixed with 64 oz. of Gatorade. That will all be tonight.
Must drink 8 oz. of Gatorade mixture every 15 minutes. Ack.
Go no further, Judi. I get the picture. I will be thinking of you drinking that lot. I presume you do drink it and not give yourself an enema? lol
Must drink.
the bathroom is going to be your best friend:(
Good. The other option didn't appeal one bit
my beloved has had this done twice
Sigh. Yes it will. The good news is, I'm first at bat for the procedure tomorrow a.m.
ive done it once....whooooo the prep! yikes
good. get it done and get it over with
on the plus side, I was SUPER careful about what I ate afterwards, for DAYS - it was so clean in there! didn't want to introduce anything artificially flavored, colored, etc....
Bit drastic, though
I have no idea how I am going to get everything done before Friday night....
A jump start clean eating plan!
you will car, you will
if I can do it today, you can!
Between my back and my toe...I am not sure
They will se6/21 me for the procedure. Nice sleepy time.

That's the Daleks. The saying is 'we are not alone' but I can't recall which film.

Nice Crossy! Maybe someday I will be too.
Actually I just write and give all my inner voices free reign!
Are the leprechauns in the sandbox still telling you to make soda bread, Crossy?
lol, yes they are. good thing is that they no longer tell me to burn things
I should go and be productive too. Loads of old paperwork to go through. bbl. Tc all

I will play around with some flash things and see how tor responds:)
google tor bridge relays if you are a flash game lover and har having issues with games or other sites that require heavy flash usage
so, in the early going, tor requires some fiddling, but if you are not afraid to get your hands dirty, it can do wonders for you
I see that tor has its own search engine so you would have to say goodbye to google and bing
well it uses a googlesque thing called "Startpage"
ok, I will pipe down now. explore it if you wish:)
If you have issues going to the site you want to head to, you will see a blue tor browser proxy lik in the search results. this may help. sadly it does not care too much for Stumbleupon program:)

well, yesterday, she didn't want to help an aide with one of her residents, I felt compelled to do it. I have come to the conclusion that some nurses take care of their patients, and other nurses (me) actually care about their patients.

clues for the en8 and the ca8, please. Anyone?
poor richard - ca8 clue, is, as Molly said earlier... feline and song bird. (Sort of combined.)
poor richard - en8 is an ingress - a path into somewhere.
(Begin with the en5/14 before it for the en8.)
Jacula, got the en8. Thanks. Still can't find the ca8. Got the feline, then I'm stuck.
poor richard - after the feline, add a vowel, then think of the ending of a yellow songbird (often used in mines to check for noxious gasses in the air).
It's also an overhead cable for a trolley car. Well, that's one of the definitions.
Got it! Thanks! I don't have them all, but I'm going to bed!
If you don't know what the yellow songbird is straight off, think of the Mafia saying... 'sang like a...'.
Well done, pr! Sleep well.
